"I'm Noelle King in Washington, D C and I'm David Greene in Los Angeles. The Senate Intelligence Committee has for 3.5 years been investigating Russian interference. In the 2016 election this morning, they released the fifth and final volume of their bipartisan report in this report. They focus on the counter intelligence threats. How the Russian government Sought to influence both Trump campaign officials and the election itself. NPR investigative correspondent Tim Mac has been reporting on this and is with us. Hi, Tim. Hey, there, so I know you've been following this for awhile. What jumps out at you and in this fifth and final volume? I think the big headline is that the report outlines former Trump Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort ce work. With a man named Constantine Kalim Nick, who they identify as a Russian intelligence officer. The Senate Intelligence Committee says that Manafort sought to share secret internal trump campaign information with him. Briefed Kalim Nick on the campaign's polling data and how they wanted to beat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. The report also says that the committee obtained evidence that clinic may have been related to the Russian government's hack and leak operations targeting the 2016 American election. Now this is a real insight because it shows a link straight from The former Trump campaign chairman to the Russian intelligence services, and the report calls this a grave counterintelligence threat. Well, how long did that threat endure? I mean, Kalim. Nick was going through Manafort. It sounds like Manafort left the campaign midway through the election Did his role stop there? I mean, Kalinic, this this Russian intelligence officer also planted the seeds for another American scandal. Years later Clinic of the report concludes, almost certainly helped to start this narrative that Ukraine Not Russia interfered in the 2016 election. Now you'll really remember that this is the This is the false narrative that that you that helped fuel a phone call to the Ukrainian government that ultimately led to a serious events involving trumps the president's impeachment. We're going back to the 2016 campaign, Tim. I mean, the big feature that election that we all remember. So what was the dumping of emails stolen from Democratic Party networks? Are we learning more about that incident from this report? Write a cz you mentioned the 2016 campaign was upended by the sudden and unexpected. Packing and release of thousands of pages of stolen emails by the website known as Wikileaks write. The report found that the report finds that that Vladimir Putin Personally ordered this operation and that Wikileaks played a key role in this Russian campaign because it quote very likely knew it was assisting a Russian intelligence influence effort. On the Trump campaign side, the bipartisan report concludes. The Trump campaign sought to maximize the strategic value of these Wikileaks stumps. They sought advanced notice of when these disclosures would happen, and he created PR strategies to promote the materials once they came out. The report also concludes that the Trump campaign quote encouraged further theft of information and continued leaks. Well, I suspect this is not the last time I'm going to talking about the subject of Russia and potentially interfering in American politics, sadly, but this report does essentially put the lid on these years of investigations. I mean, can you sum up what we've learned? I mean, I think essentially this report and the other reports before at the Mueller investigation shows that at critical moments in the campaign, the Trump campaign looked for assistance wherever they could find it, whether that was from folks that we now understood stand to be related to the Russian intelligence services or otherwise. The report shows that the Trump campaign wanted to do this for their own electoral prospects. NPR's investigative correspondent Tim Mak, forthis morning, Tim. Thank you so much. Thank you. "Welcome back here we wanna by local loses Indians for stock high school basketball don't need basketball with the Todd sturgeon basketball coach in Floyd central big win last night against castle coach thanks for taking time guys are off to decent start are you not yeah we've got out here for the which is not bad three ever been on the road so we're certainly happy with that probably like every other coach in America this early season not really feeling like we're there yet but but I'm happy that we managed to win and and got lost contributions from some young guys we lost nine seniors last year and both assistant coaches so it's been a little bit of bringing a new thing together early in the year and that's now I'm telling you hi thanks I've actually had to work a little bit we go with the with the staff that we've been together for a few years alright do everything we can to no one yet good guys and then we've had some weight Jake hybrid or was our loan returning guy now you don't get a lot of sympathy when your loan returning guys got division one offers already so he's a junior guard is fantastic but we've had some young guys step up by last night with a freshman get fourteen points and fourteen rebounds and Caleb Washington and and a young sophomore guard who didn't even play JV as a freshman and had twenty three last night cold air it so we've got some guys that have come a long way in a short time and that has helped us out a lot well but I think one of the things helped is to have the guys that they've been around and practiced against these last three or four years and they they can understand what's expected they understand how to prepare the understand they're getting better to getting bigger stronger nothing better than going against guys like that night in and night out that does help when young kids I I know it's frustrating as they've had to wait their turn as we head back to back in your classes of eight years and then nine seniors who never he was showing and so some young guys have been really waiting their turn and so so hopefully we have some in through the open for this although we'll get rated jump in the deep end of the call the only a rivalry game with Providence in in Bloomington south who is fantastic drawn so right it'll be a one that we don't have a work cut out for all right Floyd central for node Todd sturgeon there back in action against New Albany on the thirteenth be castle sixty six sixty two last night Todd thanks to the time to look next week thanks so much mark mentor joins me the voice of the Butler Bulldogs Dawgs with an impressive win today seventy six sixty two over Florida mark thanks so much for this time anybody want to question whether they've they're good or not all they needed to do was watch this game because they dismantle the good Florida team it is interesting because this is a fourteen it's ranks six pre season of course reaches a point change but Kerry Blackshear a preseason all SEC player of the year and then you had a seventh ranked recruiting class commits fluorescent talented sophomore CD this is a talented team is trying to figure themselves out I think it's a fourteen that's getting into the top of the SEC right my goodness on a nine in start coach yeah I got five power conference wins a contest against Baylor on Tuesday but what it just just incredible start to the season and it's been so much fun to watch and I love the way that that but we wouldn't get a chance to catch up after the Ole miss game on Tuesday night but the way they they showed resilience on Tuesday night against the enormous team on the road and the way they they just absolutely took care of Florida tonight at home this afternoon at home just a just a fun start this season for the Bulldogs to sing about today was Qamar Baldwin gets too early files and and now you're looking around and and as this team seems to do right now someone steps in and so you know Aaron Thompson picks up his game Sean McDermott you Hey Florida here's a tip don't leave this guy open I think everybody everybody in our state understands he can knock down shots anywhere in the building which he did and pedal then would you now has done it bottler it but I continue to be impressed again with with the basics with the Indian golden Jordan Tucker had a nice game today you know played well it just seems everyone who came in you know with the David your Christian David emails one shot but it's a big three you know those kind of things in there everybody's doing what they have to do on on there and that was really would love al Jordan talked about in the post game was it that was a key member if you were to look at the box score and then I when I told you the final score of a thick marble had twelve points you'll pick up to found the first four minutes and struggled to score offensively you would set up a menace he's probably wasn't a good game for baller come on come off of a thirty one point performance against Ole miss but ET measures of names there that I really think are important Erin Thompson in particular yeah sixteen points he had no turnovers seven assess he had to play a lot more because there's not a lot of point guard depth the bullock so with the marketing of those two early fouls Erin have to stay on the floor for big stretch in the first half in an errant has done a phenomenal job with a ton of work in this offseason ostensibly but your shot you know the still working on the shot itself you're not extend his range but he has been so sappy when the drive in when the draw files he's become a much better finisher of the ram and that's been awesome to watch but but I think his decision making but a credible he has he has really been a phenomenal leader for this team you mentioned Jordan talkers well a guy who's maturity I think in terms of finding out what his role was on the team how to stay on the floor or what is the need to do on the defensive and what does he need to do on offense has been impressive to watch joining us ball or with a big win here's what I also think too they're defending better of the I mentioned it last time we talked at the bigs give you more flexibility defensively you you can take advantage of these guys though there quick the muscle you up they do a great job in their permit geyser or are spot on and I will tell you right now the being where they are at nine and no and twenty for the country they're legit frankly I think they're under rated to be honest well I think if you if you just looked at king's resumes as a what they've accomplished this year now with the preseason expectation was for the same bright colors higher than twenty fourth and there's no doubt about it no question you know it's it's one of those things that this is a public he picked to finish eighth and I got the staff from John park at who runs the the sports image for that big east the last time and eighty ranked preseason team in the big east started out nine at all was the two thousand eight two thousand I'd sure Tuesday and it's been a long time eva started out this conference that great you look at Butler and the pollen's mother came to the right but you're gonna see a big east two undefeated teams a conference but he said that a big day here but but footballer specifically I think that that the fact that matters they've taken care of business not just again sure no mid major get a caliber teams but they went out they won the whole thing classic they've got three SEC victories already this season and then of course a really tough test against Baylor in Waco on Tuesday night against a top top twenty big twelve opponent all right fifty six in a row non conference how about that well I remember they do care about that all these other guys do you know pack it up with these got here the end of the cooling about district is they play then they played very good teams in non conference play they play great teams in conference play and I got this place gives me in Minnesota and Florida to be specific just to name a couple this season I was not that I remember and I'm sure a lot of bullet banter that gave the CBI game against hit back in twenty twelve right market was like a hundred nine degrees inside nickel delousing and and it was the last of the Bulldogs lost about John given home a credible streak continues they've got two more non conference gives this season against southern and university Louisiana my role in that in that it could extend for another year as well but but Duke Lucinda Stephen F. Austin gave the Bulldogs sole possession of that on that chart tell all right Bulldogs you know it Hey in the interest of full disclosure I have a master's degree from ball or sell you know this I read through the door we love you I grew up in a lonely mother listened cost me a lot of money I'm glad I'm I'm perfectly okay with him having that money back in the day it listen it had I not gotten that degree where I got it when I got it my.

Pick enterprise will pick you up. When you look around you might feel pride is in short supply these days everything's being disrupted, but Ford has been around for a hundred and fifteen years, and we know the only constant is change so disruption. Yeah. It's what we do every day. You see we still take pride in what we build and how we build we even take pride in taking pride in the world could use more of that right now. Because if you don't believe in what you're doing. Why do it at all? Bill Ford proud. Back again here and. This is only as strong as your in choose a partner who could customize your internet dates Smith Bill Bill for you. Boy, Indiana, Don, I think you gotta get your best players going offense away try to test. Devante green. He's a really nice job fourteen points, but Indiana going to win on the backs of their two stars. And that's Morgan inside the pain and Romeo Lankford out in the backboard. And so far here in this fall game Romeo's only got three points. And I believe John only has six total six points and five rebounds Romeo length for right now one of six from the field is not going to be enough for this Indian offense. I just truly believe he's got to be the guy to do the types of things they want to do in this tournament on the back of Romeo Lankford. India has got to do something here offensively. Get him more involved. There's three points to the ball game. Robichaud rob finish check in the lineup. Now. Points early too early Joon mortgage back in there with the Ron Davis. Green. For. Will trigger the mbappe play. Right now Caleb. Washington is on the bench with Kyle young in the ball game. Our state. Here's rob medicine gives it up the mortgage out near midcourt takes it to the top gives it off to Robie L. He drives it to the right side down low Broza Farrar had another foul is called on an illegal screen on data status. His third bottle the ballgame. We're the turnovers right now for Indiana because that's a big one. And now, we've got another timeout. So we'll talk about that. When we return this.

"Utility smart make the right choice and know what's below well hostages held their opponents to sixty just over sixty five points per game play really good guy fence there. Big physical defense that plays with a lot of contacts basket and Caleb west. It's the biggest them all an Indiana has really struggled to score in the Tate early in this game. When he was four in the pays the defense to kind of key in on one area. And that's exactly what's happened to this. Indian offense hoosiers have really struggled. Get anything going still only five of nineteen from the field early in this game hoosiers have resorted to shooting threes because they can't the only two of eight but already eight three point attempts here early in this game for Indiana. Got the ball to start this series. As devante green has it takes it to the right side it outside the Justice Ruth whose return to the lineup of place of fantasy off to Al Durham Durham now slides it into the lane courses what I to go, and he's fouled on the plane. You gotta do that, Dan. You gotta drive the basket. They're taking away doi- Morgan on the post as a guard. You got to attack the rim. You can do that score that's gonna make everybody else's life a lot easier. Nice move there by Albarn. Called on Ohio State as Durham goes to the free throw line. A free one by allies around rounded, and he makes a three point play out of L door gets this first watching a ballgame. The Anna has cut that lead that Baghdad to just two for Ohio State. Here's Keyshawn woods throws out to move. Mussa Jallow who's back for Ohio State Seattle Muhammed off, right? It comes to woods now on the right side to operate Watson. Back out of comes to Muhammad fares. It off the woods on the left work. He tries to work pulls up. Fires up. A what had hit it as to? What was on? But nevertheless, he shot woods. Having a nice start to this ball game. He's got his sex. Boy, here's the data Al Durham, he raise it back outside. Throws it back left. The devante take green takes it to the top of the key with the dribble pulls up little fourteen footer is off the rim. No, go to the Reebok comes the jello. He clears the worst back comes Ohio State, Indiana shooting very poli- in this ball game. Well, under thirty percent down inside a Caleb Washington. Throws up a shot off the glass right back into his hands. Lost the handle let us kicked out of bounds. And it's awful. But Caleb busted, Indiana. We'll have a ball. Nice job by Justin Smith. I tell you what Indiana is a bit slow with that double team. I'm surprised to see that. They're not keying in more on Caleb west, and he's been able to catch the ball really close to the basket. And no double team has been there acting Indiana lucky that time that western wasn't able to draw foul for score around the rim. Fitoussi comes in for devante grade. Rubio lacquers Roberts. Here's rob Fitoussi giving it off the Romeo. He brings it outdoor. Midcourt then breaks it back to the right side rebels back to the left. There's it back. The Justice Smith, you'll go a three t ribs it high off the board and a foul called down inside. I think this is gonna be against Ohio State, Dan, Andrei Washington gets mailed out of the ad is far wrapped around Joon mortgage. I think they gave it to Jallow there. Yeah, you're right. They did give it to boost Ajao mismatch underneath the basket. Jealous given up about three inches there. Don and sometimes as a guard, and I learned this at an early age. It's better just to hold on for dear life and hope the official doesn't call it. And that's exactly what happened with Jolla. They're looking at the monitor. So I would assume that that means they're checking to see if that's a hooking call sometimes becomes an intentional or they now call it a flagrant one. Yeah. And that's a new rule that's been put into place this year to really kinda disincentivize those guards from doing that or anybody for that back owning on with your arms. It's supposed to protect against injury. I don't remember seeing a lot of injuries that way by home somebody's arm down. But at the same time, it's the new all these players have got to understand. And it's very possible there that Giao kinda got the hook hooking hold going on Jon Morgan to keep from getting that offense rebound bands ever wonder what the most comfortable? Billow feels like go to mypillow dot com, click on the four pack special that ever promo code hoosiers to find out you'll get two premium pillows and two go anywhere pillows for fifty percents off when you use promo code hoosiers. Probably officials are still looking at the tape here. And now what officials steps away or they bring in the other official. So they got to confirm everything, right? That's what makes this really tough. Call a lot of times you got guys tangled up here. And if you gotta have multiple rafts go up to the replay because you're not sure on whether or not something should be an intentional one. Because you're not sure if it's truly a hawk. I mean, it's it's so subjective there on.

"Fine. The defense starting to turn Ohio State over that's five turnovers here for the buckeyes early in this game in Indiana is not only turning them over. But that's life ball turnovers. Indiana's getting easy looks at the other end layup by devante green and a slam dunk by Romeo plank. But I'll tell you where this game turned here offensively for Indiana. Geron Davis came in the game who started pounding the ball and dumping it down low to the low post. They've been able to get some easier. What offense? Skipped past from the low post, Ron does a great job facing the rim. Finding an open teammate this offense. Looks a lot better down when you can get inside first and then out now. Byles stay stops bringing the double team Doron is a very capable score one on one. And that's that's what the key to basketball is tucked every coach ball movement and work in the ball inside. And our offensively Indiana continue to be on the low post Ron Davis. I'd expect your things from you like the new uniforms. I do I do too. I think they're really sharp across the woods up too young. Then they around the Mohammed he gives back outside. Russell ghost. Mohammed of the right flies to drive it pulls it back out looks down. Low throws out to Washington the lap perimeter Washington rebels. Sit out front gives up the ball of Muhammad. Muhammad tells everybody to back up now he wants to go one on one against Roby goes to the baseline throws it inside. Nice a young, but it's knocked away. I got a call a foul. And they're gonna whistle. This foul. I think. Against them. I'll take green one second left on the shot clock. A nice move by Mohammad. But that was a forced shot a lot of futures around the basketball that could easily. Have been called on no call there. And that was just a force out. There's no way that ball was going in. Kalayaan goes to the free throw line with two shots Kelly. Fires the first one air. Actually did hit. Airball was an airball really bad. I was dreaming at first from the ball is up in the air. It's no that's a shot struggles of the line two of seven now big ten any swishes after that. Exactly, how does that work. I don't know. But he did make a shot at twelve denied Ohio State by three July Morgan returns to the lineup gives Davis a little bit of a rest and here comes green down the floor. Gets it across the time line works to the right gifts to Rubio weaves back left with past John backout brought to Justice now right side on the perimeter to Langford Langford holds gets it into Justin data of the drive puts it up and has his shot deflected by Caleb Washington. Ohio State comes up with the ball. Bob gives it off to young goes right side with a pass anti war. She comes back with a pastor. Washington. Caleb Watson and this time he banks it in a short little shot down lows. So Caleb gets his four point fourteen two nine a belief backup the five now for the buckeyes Roby drives pulls up and threw it back behind Justin Smith who was breaking toward the basket thinking that Romeo was going to drive him. So and Romeo stopped threw the ball. And there was nobody there and it goes out of bounds and the turnovers the third. So now bringing it up as woods transferred from Wake Forest woods goes off the western with a high post pass gives it outside to Washington Washington. Top of the key works. Fires up. A quick jump shot that almost air ball got up in the hands of Al Durham on the rebound. Durham takes back right on top of the lame Romeo fake Streisand side lost the ball scramble for it. And a dive on the floor. Devante comes up with the ball. Devante grain takes it inside. Throws it up blocked away out of bounds. The ball touch last baba hobby. Crazy play going on air ball's rolling on the floor. Guys, Ivan four. Devante picks. It up wanted to pass. I just didn't quite have the angle joined the ball the basket and khaki too deep. If you're devante green. You gotta understand those bigs are there to block your shot. And if that's one thing he could work on the season continues to go to not get too deep in the paint finish back in grainy ambassador. Justin stripped against a Durham outside the raw, rob Betsy. He tries to bribe it in there, and it will blow we got a file call nine. Kyle young. Or no, I take it back. That's on Washington. So Washington picks up his first and courtesy. We'll go to the free throw line. A.
