"That cutoff position and would know it over the last two weeks. Coal and now Allston have won jumped up into the playoffs, and that changes that bubble that changes that that position. How does it change the way that you race or do you just go? After the W and that's what it's all about but I mean there's gotta be that balance there and gas when they jump over. You kind of tease you off a little bit So how does that change the people you're racing with and how you raise? Well. It just goes to show. You can't leave any any opportunity on the table I think back to to to Kentucky for us and even even Austin Dillon We were both in position to take advantage of of what happened. There but we just one little misstep throughout the race enough to take us out of that out of that situation. For Austin it was spinning after missing pit road in catching a break in hitting the outside wall. Damaging car is right. Right, there with customer that point of the race in very well, could have been awesome to win it Kentucky too so when you think about those things in your in those similar positions similar strategies. We had very similar to call Kentucky. You gotTA. Just execute and take advantage of every single race plays out in those manners. It can benefit your team so for me it's. We're just GONNA, continue to push our effort in in running good going after those stage points. In trying to just stay up in it all day long I mean we. We really good for stage at Texas. We got sage points we wanted we were in an effort to stay after we're trying to keep track position and made a few mistakes, but we're going to place to Kansas. There's a small off. You can move around the race track. So. We're going to try and win these races, but we gotta be aware that more in position to win. We can't necessarily go all or nothing. We can't win. The race gotta finish got to try and finish in the top five. We have an opportunity to do so in really collect those points. In case we don't win. And in case more guys like custer and Austin were racing around win and locked themselves in so being sixteenth, Daytonas not gonna be a comfortable spot to be and we were gonNA. WanNa, be fourteenth or fifteen or that win all right. You bring up Daytona. Nascar just announced no more practice Resi Year your rookie. We're going to Daytona to a road course. As never done that before we we were talking about a little bit before we started doing the splashing go. But how does that change this year for you and going into Daytona? What's that going to be like to be interesting? It's another race where I feel like. You know wonder. Everything's GonNa have advantages cal Bush, but you know he's ahead of us right now in points currently so I mean I always expect to do good. It's been a little bit of an off year forum obviously, and it's been frustrating for some of those guys that are used to have practice time to dollar car in, but for me I'm I'm okay that we're not gonNa have practice just because it seems like once more level playing field when we go to new tracks or Rent something other other drivers haven't ran before you know I I, feel like or when it's a new package, too. I feel like everyone's kind of reset in after all star over some hoping just. That in itself without practice, we hit the and we'll have a better run than than we would. If we were going to walk INS, gland or or Sonoma were allow. These guys have lots and lots lots of laps, and a lot of notes under book when you go to a place like this, not allowed people do especially in a cup car or Stockcar in general and I hope that plays into our advantage. I think I think it could all right man. Thanks for joining us here on this splashing. Go and more importantly. Thank you for a tour of your home from the. Yeah from front to back, To back, that made a special man. We've never done it before, so thanks Sean..

"Definition. I mean, don't get rid of Richmond. It's fine. Don't get rid of Phoenix is fine. But, but that's just what I think when I think short track like, I. Didn't think of that as being as first short-track win? No. But again, it is it is it does have an entity all of its own. I mean banking. It's a little bit faster down the backstretch. But I think by definition you have to say it's like quarter the three quarters a mile. Typically, one mile or anything under one mile is called a short Iraq at three three quarters a mile if it's a bigger short track. But it's not it's it's still a short. It's under a mile. So yeah, I still consider it a short check. But I think it's I think it's a big deal. I mean for him to be a guy who's kind of mastered every the art of everything else. Yeah. This is pretty good for him and shows especially in a gives car that he can run. Although I'm not shocked that it gives car one. This thing though, can't say that. No, not at all, you know. And and again, it was you know, it was pretty much. I don't have the thing. Let me bring up the leader Louis because I remember this race as being pretty much an essay char an Penske type of. Yeah. For a while there. It was was that. And then some other crazy crap happens. Bush would've won tricks lead. One eighty six joy Lagaan over fifty two. Kevin Harvick was up there for thirty in the break has Lasky for thirty one. So once again, it's the same two teams. I mean, it's JJ are, and it's Penske or Pinski depending on who you write for which paper, you write for or which TV station, you work for and so it's the same thing all over again is this getting to the point where it's concerning. Not just for those other teams. But as far as nascar's concern, because do you think that fans think of it that way, basically is what I'm getting at do you think the fans look at that and say man, they're only two teams because when Kabul wins everything Rosenthal Garda's ruining the sport Cowboys winning everything when you know, Jimmy Johnson wins the roll man, Jimmy Johnson. Do you think you think of it that way right now where we only have those two organizations, and that's it? We're talking Pinski and Gibbs. Yeah. No because they're different drivers winning the rail. I think that's I think the organizational think doesn't fit into their thing. Just yet. I think it soon will. But at the same time, I don't see it being as big a deal, you know, that they're they're winning it just yet until they start consistently winning over and over again. And that's when people start wondering, oh, it's only to put change the rules now. At least that something could play up because they tried to play up the big three. And that was all right. You know, it it didn't really pan out that way because those guys weren't really into it. But boy be nice. If like, the Gibbs drivers and the Pinski drivers could both get together and be like two. Let's let's let's kinda him this little lake. That's amp this up a little bit, man. Let's let's not like that other guy that happens already with break is asking Bush, but but everybody else needs get in that mindset that we don't like these guys in the maybe maybe just a little bit. You could have some of that rivalry going on? But doing need rival like honestly, I'm tired of this WWF kind of thing that you have to something to get people in passionate about it make make the product better. Then people will get impassioned about it. I guess so I guess so it's just it's easier with with sports organization regular sports teams because you know, you've got that that regional thing going on. And you don't get that ever really in this car. It's not like the southern guys versus the California guys are some stuff like that. Yeah. I mean, you do a coast thing. I mean, just make the racing better. Making better at a green flag. He'll listen to Stephen's. Listen to Steve O'Donnell it is. But we'll get to that later. All right. Let's talk about two things with the coverage. Number one. My gosh, where they jockeying Cal Bush so.

"You're still to me a younger guy. But you've been in NASCAR for quite a while. Again, you went on Sunday. How much is changed in the sport for uses when you first started. Mannix games been crazy with the heavily of the cars evolution of safety of drivers. And and just where the sport has come see today, and you know, obviously. I think it's in the same slate Saint places it was years ago. You know fans that kind of gravitated through NASCAR back in the nineties and found their favorite driver be rusty Wallace, Dale Jarrett, Jeff, Gordon, Dale Earnhardt, you know, Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt, jR, those guys just kind of seems like they've not necessarily been able to find a new driver like or new driver to follow. And you know, we we've kind of struggled a little bit in the fan base. But I'll tell you what the last two years with some chase Elliott Ryan, ladies and things like that. You know, guys people are coming back, and it's been cool to see I wanna talk to you a little bit more about that coming up in a bit. But I want to ask you about you personally. I ask you how much has changed your champion. Now, you know, you want in two thousand fifteen some you've been going after like crazy for you. As a driver how much changes after you win a championship? There's a bit of change, you know, when you are contender or a participants. I guess even before that, you know, that's just kind of who you are. But then once you're able to kind of breakthrough and finally be a champion. You know, you have a different stature in the sport. And you've got a different responsibility as well too. So it's pretty cool. I enjoy it. Of course, you know, being able to win rates all the time. That's that's part of what it's all about being Campion and winning championships is what it's all about as well in the grand scheme of things. And obviously I'd love to have more. And we've been in the final four and four years in a row, and I've only one at once he does. So just shows you how tough that final race can be where there's other guys that you're going up against that. Are that are just as good as you are Bush. Joining us on the show driver, the number eighteen Eminem's and everything Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs racing. Can you take me through Bristol? Because I wasn't wrong. When I first tuned in. I was watching you. And I was watching baseball on Sunday you had an accent? At the beginning. And you were still able to come through and get the win on Sunday. Am I wrong? Now, you're right. Yeah. We got caught up in a mishap in the on. There was a guy that got kinda worked up the track and into the wall turns to on lap two and it kinda bunched up the field a little bit, and there was an accordion effect. And I was kind of the guy that got out of the of the accordion. I got hit from behind son. No fall to the guy behind me, Ricky Stenhouse, just racing. And then you know, a couple of cars came through and miss me. And then another guy came through it hit me, and we had a little bit of damage that we had to fix that. And kind of repair car a little bit. But then after that, we we were pretty good. You know, Bill we had a fast race car. We were top four top five guy. And all you can do is try to run up front put yourself in the right position. And when the time comes you know, they had late race caution. Pitstops we stayed out. We ended up winning the race. So it kind of fell in our hand. What's just racing? And what is maybe a little bit more when you're certainly at a place like Bristol martinsville. Yeah. I mean, guys just deliberately run into the back of you for no apparent reason or guys that run into the side of you or push you up the racetrack and stuff like that. I mean, that's that's just you know, I mean, that's that's also a part of racing. But you know, that when it's a little rougher little dirty or whatever that, you know, you're gonna keep it in the back of your mind through ever done that to you and you're going to repay the favor later on down the road. How long are you willing to keep something like that in the back of your mind? Forever. Cal Bush joining us on this show. What do you think when when analysts and when fans compare you to Dale Earnhardt? I mean it flattering obviously, you know, he's he's one of the top dogs of our sport. And one of the top guys that built our sports what it is today. Him Richard petty. Jeff, Gordon Jeanie Johnston. I mean Kayleigh overall David Pearson vein. There's there's a ton ton of hall of famers Darrell Waltrip, for instance, that that built our sports what it is today. And you know, being compared to any of those guys is is is really cool. And obviously Dale Earnhardt kind of being the imitator and one of the best guys many of ever seen race car. And you know, it feels good to be the in that same ballpark. Beck of those guys. Do you feel any different because you mentioned the young guys now, and we we make that comparison. You you mentioned a bunch of names that really weren't just names, but we're also personalities and what really drove the terrible pun, but really moved NASCAR into the twenty first century minute. As popular as what it was. And you mentioned some of the young guys. Some of the guys seem to be a little bit camera shy. But you've always whether fans of you were right, but you're wrong. You've always been one of the guys who are willing to speak your mind and let the let the personality show. Does anybody ask you about that the young drivers ever ask you about that? Actually, I don't I don't think they have. I think there's just kind of. I don't know if it's just flow underneath the radar or just kind of your own deal, and and focus about yourself and not really about anybody else, which I tend to try to think that I do as well. But, you know, many of those guys are more reserved in outspoken compared to myself. But yeah, I guess not that you don't have any consequences because there certainly are some consequences sometimes, but it's just kinda like, hey, if you believe in something, and, you know, something and you wanna talk about something, then you just sit out there. But when you're at the very top, especially like when you do the bow after you win things like that like, you know, people watch that. And whether it's good or bad, you know, they're still talking about it, which is always still good for NASCAR. Isn't it? I hear you. I don't know how about can be a bad thing. But you know, for me, I I was never able to do a backflip. So I'll leave that to the other Bush with us on the show. So you're an owner you basically how often do you race a week? Well, I mean with the Cup series schedule re we raised thirty eight times out of the year. You know, we've got forty weekend straight, basically that are schedule goes we've got to off weeks in there. We'll raise thirty eight times between those forty weeks. And then let's see the I run in the truck series five times I run in the extended series seven times, I have got a super late model team. Also that I run with four or five times. And so you know with with all all those races. You're looking around fifty fifty five times a year. I mean, this is I know Kenny Schrader was always known for racing five six days a week. Sometimes I mean, you keep a very hectic schedule. What are you like outside of racing? What our hobbies for you? Yeah. I mean, so some hobbies for me. I love RC cars, I've been in our car kits and my early days, I might have been five six seven years old when I got my first one, but, you know, working waiting a couple more years before I get my son kind of into that. He's he's asking about it a little bit. But not every day. So I don't think he's ready get quite yet. But you know, I also enjoy going out to the sand dunes playing with some four whalers fan commerce and side by side things like that. And haven't time with my family. That's that's a big deal as well. So that's not a wouldn't call it a hobby. But that's something that you do in your spare time is just able to have family time. What's separate you from your brother? What's different about you? I don't know. You know, we're both very fiery competitive people. I guess one thing that I kind of noticed is, you know, he's he's more okay with having extra curricular activities, and and doing different things and being more cultured with call it he'll travel over to Europe and go through Paris, go look at history and and spend time with his wife and go down to Florida just kinda veg out for today's or whatever. Where me man, I'm I'm all about racing. I live rethinks sweep all racing. And so my son he's he's into it a lot now, and I own the Racine -ccomplish motor sports. And of course, drive you know, the Cup series stuff. I watched videos during the week. I study notes during the week all that sort of stuff. So I think that you know, I'm just more passionate about it and more into it maybe than than Kurt Busch with us on the show. Duck two thousand fifteen monster energy NASCAR Cup series champion. Joining us here this afternoon on CBS sports radio. Kyle. When we talk about NASCAR in the future. Nascar Bristol was a disheartening thing with some of the fan interaction on Sunday. The ratings are still the same than they were last year. We're always looking to grow on what would you do to grow? Nascar's fan base right now. You know that that's I don't know the problem with it is I think that there's a lot of our. Are are older crowd. Let's call it. And it's back to the matter is they're older you're kind of aging out, and they don't necessarily want to go to the racist as much anymore. They don't wanna go in the weekends at the track and have to spend thousands of dollars for campsites and groceries and food. And you know, then the I guess the aggravation sometimes traffic, I mean, traffic's really not that bad. So I don't know what what what the complaint would be exactly there. But you know, past that just the older generations. We haven't quite been able to connect with the younger generation, you know, I would say they're the forty fifth year old men and women couples that brought their children, you know. So the racist years ago? Children founded, okay, call that was fun done it, then they're not going back type thing, you know. And. Again. I I don't know exactly how to fix that. How to change that? I think it's just the changing of the times and kind of what people are interested in now. And as you look at it, you know, the circus went out of business because they weren't appealing anymore. It was the same old stuff. So we've kind of got to figure out what to do to to appeal to the generations. And and get them to come kind of check it out. Whether it's more. More parties or more use it or you know, the the offense and the allure of having activities at the race to then be able to check out a cool race and watch race cars. Go fast. I think that's where it's at Bush with us on the show. What would you change right now if you could change anything about NASCAR? I think the biggest thing is just you know, like, I was just talking about is being able to get people there. And so to me being able to get people. They're just showing them a better time. And some of these racetracks are trying to fill people a better time. But they're not necessarily really pushing, you know being able to go out to colleges or being able to go out and recruit, you know, we've gotten for instance, we've got the monster girls right there sports sponsored by monster energy. We got the monster drill send them out and have them be our recruits and get guys and girls and tell them about the parties that are going to be at the racetrack. And give them some free tickets or some free passes to the parties and get them to get to the race track. Maybe they'll buy a ticket to get into the grandstands and go check out the rates stuff like that. So it's just kind of a part part of what what I think it'd be done. Can you tell me more about the bundle of joy fund that you and your wife sponsor? Absolutely. So, you know, the the bundle of joy funds has kind of evolved and has become what our nation dries is. And so people can know to the bundle of joy fund dot org. In order.

"Has a win their thirty five points back sitting third. Any Hamill two wins Kabul with three wins? There's your leader didn't mention it. Because Laskey also has two wins in there as well. But what about the big three from a year ago? Carey, you know, you've got Cal Bush in the points lead, which is awesome. But the next one up is Harvard fourth and then true expec in seven so possibly these new rule packages and tricks moving to Jay GR and some of the stuff in the off season looks kinda in love the playing field a little bit for some of these guys. Yeah. And you got Penske in the mix a lot. Yeah. Definitely. I mean llegado won the championship last year. But for the majority of the season, he was not the the favorite going into homesteads. So this this is a big shift in the power at the top of the series. I think aside from Cal Bush, of course, doing Kyle Busch things. Okay, track stats for Richmond. That's what's on tap for this weekend. Are they still calling at Richmond international raceway or is it just Richmond race Richmond race? It's no longer international because we don't want any foreigners involved. So just Richmond raceway. So Daniel Suarez has been erased off the entry already much. Yeah. I think that's what's going to happen. It's called Marcus Ambrose was kicked out the action track. So that's why you gotta say the action track. We might see some slide jobs vans. Lie job slide job. If you ask most drivers, I mean, this is one of the most basic interview one on one questions and drivers actually hate it. But if you do ask them what their favorite track is almost all of them are gonna say Richmond. It's just one of their favorites. It's pretty cool. Right unless you're Jimmy Johnson price at Dover. If you're yeah. Arms Ville, you know. Yeah, there's a few people who pick some different things, you know, what I think everybody at this point in pick something different. So I don't think it's Richmond anymore right short-track that looks Smith's them above a one point five mile. Oh, we'll go ahead on Google maps, Google earth and check it out for yourself. You're going to go. Oh, yeah. Carries right? But kidney track looked like amount of half track from above just you know, what I mean d shaped looking thing, I guess, all right? So three quarter mile oval banking up to fourteen degrees. Eight and two front and back stretches twelve ninety feats front stretchy, sixty backstretch. I'm reading this all backwards. I think stage one, yeah, you're all place. Well, if they know what I mean stage. Ends at one hundred lap stage. Two ends at two hundred laps which means I presume the end of the race is another two hundred laps because it's four hundred total. I did all the math. Right. I think right four laps Twitter miles. That is Richmond last year's winner. Kerry. Who was it? It's gotta be Kyle Busch. Right. Yep. He came from the deepest and the field at a monster energy Cup series driver who has won this race has ever started. Richmond from thirty second place. That's impressive. Who was the fall race winner? Richmond. Carry murphy. Same Kyle Busch. Yes. It's the NASCAR Kyle Busch series. Apparently, I think they need to rework the logo. That'd be cool. Let me pretty sweet I don't know about that. Do you think? I mean, he's the driver. So it has to be a little sweet check at all the action. If you feel like watching Kabua's win Saturday night, seven thirty pm eastern on FOX. Now. Of course, this is the track where he in junior got together back in what eight God that was so long ago. Who cares? I mean things like that happen will we see Kyle Busch. Anger and other legion of fans tame chase Elliott out this when everybody loves Kyle Busch. Now, but they really love chase Elliott. Yeah. I guess, hey, let's run down this list. Here that's in front of us the radically. Good drivers at Richmond. Dead. Silence. Yep. I will no longer say anything any of these things you have a kid with Joel Gano who has two wins. Eight top fives eleven top tends to polls and his average finishes eleven point six at Richmond. How about the guy who just finished second this past week Kurt Busch? And the number one I believe it's some kind of global poker dot com. Car this week anyway for Chip Ganassi racing to win seven top fives. Fifteen top tens of average finish thirteen point eight. See? That's what I wanna see. I wanna see Kyle Busch. Get wrecked.

"Along and bail out now and leave Mike joy would Jeff Gordon and some other guy that's never done TV before. And it didn't feel like that was the right thing to do. So I stayed on a little bit longer. And look, I see anybody. That's done what I've done with. It's a driving career TV crew. You can always look back and say, maybe I should have done something different. Maybe I should have thought about this. Or maybe I should have thought about that. But a focus on this this this is my home when I stand up here on Sunday and do this race. I'm I'm in one of those cars, I don't know which one I'll be in yet. Most people think I'd be in cal- Bush's car, which I'm the love Cowboys. Thanks. To watch in my by darn right? I m everybody in this room is one way or another. When you write a story when you tell somebody you always have to put your own kind of spin on it, your own personal opinion. And we're all guilty. Then I don't care if you say, no, no. I went to journal school. I sit on my hands. I don't clap. Well, that's bullcrap. 'cause we all do. That's what I've done in this one. I know it's out. I'm a race fan. I love a good. I love now level when a gas put on a show when I get out on a track and somebody's putting on his show. I'm gonna talk about always still everybody. Under garage is pretty simple, if you'll do this much, we'll do the rest, but you gotta do this much other word guilty sometime but making stuff, but we we've we really we embellish. We just kinda I'm Bill. It's just not right. It's not like radio where there's number two bumper Sabas outdoor helmed the door handle. I don't know if I are not because I'm not listen on the radio. But when it's on TV it is what it is. Is. And I love live TV and these guys will tell you. I don't like to rehearse so yes, we've mocked him in the past. Yes. That that has come up a few times. But let's be honest. He's a legend in the sport both driver and TV booth when when they started on FOX, they were the stuff I mean him and Larry MAC and Mike joy, they knew what they were doing. It's it was so fresh we've never seen that before in racing and the way they they brought coverage and man I race out of the box was couldn't have been tougher. Yeah. And they held it together. And you know, for the most part over this nineteen years stretch, they've done a heck of a job definitely recent years. There's been some laughable moments, of course. But don't take that away from Darrell Waltrip in his career throughout all aspects of his career in this sport. I mean, he spent almost fifty years now around NASCAR full-time as a driver as a car owner as well. He owned his own car there for a while. And as a as a broadcaster, so he's done more for the sport. The most people ever even dream of doing certainly more than you. And I have ever done Carey. So. I I'm glad he's getting a lot of knowledge from fans that were sad to see that. He's going to be going at the end of the year. Mom, also said to kind of see how things played out with the article in the stuff that came out right before this. But it turns out, I don't know. If you listen to the door bummer, clear podcast this week Kerry. But Jennifer are actually approached FOX about the article she was posting before she posted it, and then ever told her that the there was a retirement announcement or anything coming. So that kind of didn't give her a reason to not do that article. Gotcha. Gotcha. Yeah. So yeah. As you heard in the piece one thing that I took away from from DWI. And this is the approach that we've always taken in covering the sport is he's been a fan. I when covering the sport, you know, and even made fun of journalists that sit on their hands and don't clap, and don't, you know, cheer on their favorite driver, whatever. And that's kind of how we approach this sport. We're always fans. I and yes, we have hard cards. And yes, we get exclusive access, but it's all to provide that that coverage and those interviews to you guys. And so that's how we we kind of do the same thing. Yeah. At the end of the day, you have to love the sport, you're covering.

"This week. It's two honorees for global motorsport star of the week. We know that soon to be nineteen year old Colton hurt. I became a youngest IndyCar driver to win a race last Sunday at circuit of the Americas. But it was also a record setting day one of his bosses George Steinbrenner the port the co owner parting Steinbrenner racing came IndyCars youngest winning team owner ever at age twenty two. Think. Yeah. Those guys are definitely disturbing. Looking at the road ahead at the Texas two step this weekend with supercross in Huston followed by the NASCAR Cup series in Fort Worth IndyCar. Probably take these drivers because this is the right hick. So yeah. Lauren trick junior fast Giuliano. Kevin Harvick won the fall race air. Cam Rolla being quietly fast every weekend. Kurt Busch has had a lot of top ten top Christmas your team there for Texas is worries from one of his favorite race tracks. Because I know this because I asked him what that's will stay question. Exactly. I won't give you Kerr push being a great pick that I almost picked. And I thought about it. And then I did. And I picked these drivers so Cal Bush, of course, Kevin Harvick you got Jila Gano. I have basically old Team Penske because team has been very fast. I broken record. I know on this show, and then junior added him as my second GR card because I feel like off the eighteen car the one that showed the most speed is a nineteen. "A lot of people, you know, the dentist. One was was Stenhouse Chevron his way into with Harvick. I'm sure hover. Call forget about that. And take care some retribution there at some point this season, just cling to clean his car out someday. Another the last wreck line castle must add throttle stick or some man, he went full speed into lamb Bryant Byron's car, and almost look because it was basically T-Bone at full speed were Byron's almost stuck. But he he got out of the cards amazing that these these guys get out of these cars like it's no big deal. They're safe like that Twenty-one corrector doing two hundred miles an hour, and all of a sudden the guy's going sideways and everyone's hidden collect pilot out there skating down the down the track at two miles an hour and trying to get stops. The Eric Morello had one similar to what happened to him and Kansas couple years ago where he broke his back. Whereas riding on top of David Reagan's car as it's like, a it's it happened. It's good. Yeah. So the wrecks the rest were crazy to finish the race off came down to green white checkered, and it sounded like there was, you know, agreed team orders. Have you wanna look at it from gives car that cow Bush was gonna let. Hamlin down in front of him on the restart, and then it was just on racing from there because I guess they figure both of them in line. Like that is better than having spread out. Not sure what the car behind you to do is. We'll leave it with those guys because they're obviously the smart ones know, what the hell they're doing. But it didn't make sense to me to let them come down. Because I didn't think how much every to get past them again would like to see them actually race it and see what would happen. 'cause there's two laps to go cars take forever to get going. And you got to trust that you're going to get some plush some energy from cars behind him that aren't your teammates. That's where I actually thought Joe Lagaan was actually gonna win it because those two are going to let everyone in front, and then McDonald's is gonna hammered out because I thought Cal Bush might make it three wide go crazy. 'cause you know, he's tried this for over a decade and has at one the five hundred himself. And so it'd be curious to see what comes out from that. Maybe they'll probably keep it in house. But it was just odd that a guy that competitive has called bushes. Granted all NASCAR drivers competitive that again that super competitive like that just willing to let your team confirm you for the betterment of team orders, which once again, I don't team orders team realizes just knowing just go on race forget the teams race forget what. Car. You're driving race, you know, but those team orders hamlet in front, and like I said, I was I was happy for him to wind just because of all the stuff that you know, Gibbs has been through with the Sanja de passing away, and, you know, have a soft spot in my heart for coach Gibbs 'cause my big Redskins fan from the eighties. When he was bring those teams to championships all stuff so can't complain too much. But it was a overall. There was a pretty cool exciting race Bata wasted a whole Sunday watching. It makes me wanna go. Go back to a NASCAR race since. I didn't get to go to last year with some other stuff going on probably won't get to go to one this year. As I got some big sports trips coming up like to Japan for the the Ray world campus going to be pretty bad ass, and then some other trips so probably won't make it to NASCAR race. On Sundays be washing. On TV wish. I was there, especially the nice weather like Daytona. So thoroughly enjoyed this race. And and looking forward to the rest of the season curious to see how this weekend goes because I believe this is the first mile and a half course that.

Maybe six cars working behind him. Including Brad, Pitt Lasky he wants rat. Right. There behind. Brad goes Kyle Busch. Meanwhile, topside it's William Byron. It's now a five car breakaway with William Byron continuing to pace the field Johnson in that second spot. Martin truly junior goes third then it's going to be Paul Menard. And Kevin Harvick that's where the inside. Life comes into play by Gail hemorrhage in the clash of the night. We solve outside line. Just drive away. Nothing on the bottom could ever get working. But I'm looking at right now. Brad keselowski. Cal bush. I'll tell you what they got some strong dues on the bottom this racetrack right now, if anybody can do it they can do it. So we just have to see what happens. I hope that bottom lane starts work, and we couldn't get it to work the other day, but it might work tonight front seven cars. "Did did a decent amount. I was surprised to see a both of those guys in the list and b both of those guys above Jimmy Johnson. And see both of those guys above some of the chase Elliott cars and Jimmy Johnson's scheme was kind of garbage last year. It was a little wasn't the best. There's nothing write home about. But you almost have to wonder if the William Byron Alex Bowman are just not nostalgia picks as well. Yeah. Oh, I'm sure I'm sure. Yeah. I think that that's a big thing there too. Yeah. Yeah. Surprise surprise. No Cal Bush. I am too actually. Because remember he was like second in the most popular driver voting. Yeah. So I mean, I'm surprised that people aren't buying his car. Price. Kevin harvick's doesn't have a couple in their. He's only got the one all the way down the Bush, beer one. I'm and only one of these skin through list right now. Only one of those cars was a in the top ten was a Darlington car. Chase Elliott in the hooters interesting. Yep. Yep. By the way. Speaking of Darlington cars, I saw one sixty four the method no car with the Jeff Burton Plum. Pretty slick made those may one of those. I saw it's fantastic. Oh, yeah. No, no Miller lite car. No, wreckage Laskey, no, joy Lugano's. But but I think the Luganda I I don't have a hard time buying that. Joel ex Nomar tricks exactly very popular driver. And yet people weren't buying his stuff. The only thing that because break Laskey neither here nor there when it comes to like say popular driver voting. But that's that's scheme is so iconic that that usually that would be enough to sell cars. I would think but you had the biggest biggest prize from me is William Byron third on that list. But I think you've paid it. I think people were buying the twenty four because that it was the exalted scheme. And so it looks exactly like the Jeff Gordon car. So yeah. And you just get it that way and and hope for the best. So I mean, interesting still picks. Yeah. I mean, it it shows where people put their money and all three of those five chase Elliott our win card. Yeah. So there's special schemes that way as well. Most of them are normal schemes Napa scheme for chase Elliott executive for William Byron nationwide for Alex Bowman lows for Jimmy Johnson credit one four color Bush beer for Kevin. But like you said three of them are the chase Elliott win cars. And then one is the chase Elliott Darlington car. I know right. They have. Okay. So if you're NASCAR, I mean, this this means something, you know, because this is more than just people's voting online because you know, if you're a rabid chase the fan of there's a chase Elliott fan club. They could go and stuff the ballot vote every day. Right. But this is people putting their money where their mouth is. And I mean, if your NASCAR don't you? I I mean, I guess they've been pushing him, but don't you up the ante on that a little bit? Don't you piss off Kabul's more by making it even more about chase Elliott now to these got wins. And you know, people are spending money on his stuff. Yeah. It's interesting. I mean, it goes to show. I would love to see. That's what it was was merchandising sales was the other one. So that would be hats shirts, everything else. Like, oh, that's that's right. That's what we were talking about before. Uh-huh. Lost my train of thought what the hell you're talking about whether or not NASCAR should should upped the ante on marketing, which aren't getting well, I mean, you can only do so much marketing to like I mean, especially now that it's back on their own..

"I mean it had that feel to to me to shame. We couldn't get it done. We come on short. But it was it was definitely an effort for the ages, and we'll have Mt. Jay talked to us. Once again, I'm sure they'll be differences. You know, I feel I don't feel like it'll be a big difference. You know, the good thing about there's I know what to expect at everybody there. I'm familiar with the place and familiar with the people and familiar with the with the equipment and the cars, and I think they understand me and kind of how I tick and really the last three years of working together with furniture. Oh, and JD are working together. It's it's been a great relationship. And ultimately, that's what led to. To me getting opportunity was just that have that confidence, you know in in one another and so I'm excited for it. You know, it's definitely going to be something different something new, but. I think a lot of the things that you would normally have to figure out learn about a new team. I already know very done it, you know, so that'll make the transition a whole lot easier. So Martin's wins came at Fontana, California, Pocono, Noma and Kentucky. It's just amazing. How diverse these drivers are these days when you'll get Martin season. He had several times where he was very close real comes to mind for sure the Bristol night race comes to mind is very close there until you got wiped out by Cal Bush. There were a lot of times at Martin. Sure juniors very close victories this season and just something happened. So he was very close to possibly having a six seven maybe eight win season as well. But the cards in fall didn't Joey wipe him out to believe. So so yeah, martinsville the at the end there. So I mean, there's a lot of races. That's his track. It is. That's his track. Its in the name for twenty nine hundred Martin tricks junior makes a huge move over to J G R as furniture. Acing his former team his former championship winning team from Denver Colorado is closed down for good. That's a bummer that was a real fun story to watch unfold last few seasons that that little team that could built up into a championship contender, and we can and we out contender for the victory. And now they're no longer with us. We're going to let you off the hook is. There is no all Joey all the time episode. We are going to take a look at the champion up next on T F L W what? Lap weekly. Joey logano. And you're listening to. His name Toby Christie, my name Kerry Murphy to shows T F L W or the final laughed weekly everything covered there. Yeah. So that's get into it. And let's talk about the champion as our look at the top sixteen NASCAR Cup series. Drivers comes to close with this one for the twenty eight racing season. Coming in at number one for one champion Joey llegado racking up wins at Talladega martinsville. And of course, the season ender at homestead Miami speedway to capture the trophy the Cup. The weird looking spoke thing that is now lighter than it used to be that. I didn't know here's Joey last ten races of twenty seventeen when I feel like we finally hit the would at that point was our bottom after missing the playoffs. And we slowly started building some faster cars getting better results. And we started off and being a year having some solid results and being consistent and then about fifteen races ago that was to me the turnaround moment to where we were from running fifth to tenth to fifth. I and that I think it was really the. The moment where I felt like family, you know, we win the right races. We can win this championship. We weren't the favorites at the time. But as the season kept going along in the playoffs kept going along. Knock a few guys out in each round. And next thing, you know, you know, you're sitting there and around eight and you win at martinsville. And you got to better in anybody. All of a sudden, it's amazing. How quick it turns around that point favorites to make this happen? And we were in my opinion, not agree with that doesn't matter. What everyone thinks about it? You have to believe it yourself before you can ever do it. And here's old jail. Once again for me, I want to be the champion that's going to help grow sport..

"He was in the top ten more often than than not also at four polls. Here's k b. Yeah. It certainly was frustrating in the end, you know, we just we came to homestead as prepared as we possibly felt we'd needed to be. And and thought we were ready to go to be able to go out there and content for championship. And you know, we just weren't quite they're all weekend long especially on race day. We just didn't quite have have all of what it needed to be. And what it was going to take to win a championship to beat the twenty two to beat the seventy eight to the four. So we were just kind of off all day. But you know, we got to put it behind us and move on focus forward and figure out what we can do better for nineteen. Here's Kyle Busch yet again. I just think for some reason we're just not quite getting the same amount of attention that we've had years ago, you know, and why that is I'm not sure, you know, I think the racing is so competitive and some of the most compelling racing and all of motor sports. It's it's exciting to me behind the wheel each time. You look at Chicago land. We don't have those finishes every week. But people strive for this finishes every week and tell me how many times finishes have happened in the course of our lifetime. You know? And I mean, there's been thousands and thousands of races. And there's probably hundreds of times people talk about great finishes in our sport. You know? So it's just so competitive that you know, everybody wants the picture perfect finish and the excitement of every week. Did you see Kabul garage this week? He was showing off his his kids. News new go kart. But in the background was a tiny miniature full-on stockcar looking number eighteen car, also Brexit as well. I'm sure I'm sure it was fully functional and everything, but it was just tiny. Right. So that was awesome. I think the go kart itself was fabricated by Korla joy. I'm not mistaken. That was maybe why I wrote the note coral joy up top. But we ended up having more news on him. This week. So that's good. So taking it away. You're you're saying he was in the top ten more often than not that is very true. I mean, he only finished outside the top ten eight times the season. That's why I said that that's incredible. That is incredible. The eighteen driver had eight wins of fish outside the top ten only eight times exactly Coriolis joy has a beard. Right. So maybe we can have that onto he does. It's a pretty good bushy beard too. It's it's a Paul Menard looking kind of beard. Yeah. I would put it in the the realm of fall Menard. See it'll be more successful than Paul Menard, beer, Blinn and all of a sudden. No other show talks about beards and has on his guests like this show. That's very true. That's very true. So Cal Bush had wins at Texas Bristol Richmond, Charlotte. Finally for the first time in his career Chicago land Pocono Richmond. And phoenix. That's a whole lot of diversity there in his victories ahead Richmond twice and that a bunch of different tracks. So now he has wins at every single race track. With the exception of the newly configured wroval, which we don't know if they were going to do that again. Do we write the new fangled jangled rule? I think we'll do it again. It was a pretty good race. So especially if you're Ryan Blaney. Yeah. For sure they have a I'm going to NASCAR dot com. See the twenty nineteen schedule is it on there. Or is it just Charlotte? I think so oh, it does say Roble. Well, there you go. So I guess I why wasn't that news? I think it was pretty much a forgotten collusion on the race. Was that good? But it wasn't like a big news story kind of thing. But it says Bank of America robo four hundred and it says Charlotte Motor Speedway road course as the track. So why did how did we miss that? I don't know. But we should probably move onto the next driver in our list here, which is never three. Okay. Wow. So that's Kevin Harvick. And he matched Kyle Busch and wins with eight that's huge..
