"For ace fans might make them a little bit nervous because over the past couple of years, while the stadium talks have been ongoing about whether or not it'll ever happen and Howard terminal near Jacqueline and square. We'll see, I guess, but one of the alternate plans for the a's has been Las Vegas. It's been bandied about very much one of the more contentious moments was when president of the a's Dave Cavill tweeted out a video of him being in a Vegas golden knights game and was not well received by a's fans. We'll put it that way. Well now, according to John morosi of MLB network, he tweeted that Las Vegas will host the Oakland athletics and Cincinnati reds in a two game spring training series on March 4th and 5th of the upcoming spring training in 2023. It'll be happening at Las Vegas ballpark, which opened in April of 2019. This according to the tweet from morosi, that side will be where they will hold this weekend series. So yeah, it's the kind of the place that the a's have been flirting with and now we're planning a date with. So again, like I said, patty is a little uneasiness, I think. A little uneasy, yeah. Yeah, I think that's an appropriate response. But again, this is all a very lengthy process. So we will see where it goes. As of scene where it goes, everyone's wondering what's going on with the warriors on the road. They lost to the kings last night, one 22, one 15. They have yet to win a game on the road this year. No, when you're on the road, you can't have those have a lot of turnovers and give up all the three miles and all the small things and something we've been talking about as a team and we were doing a better job at that at home, but on the road seems to get away from it. So we had to continue to get better at that and continue to grow. That is caban Looney after the loss last night at the warriors postgame press conference. The warriors have the second leg of an away in home back to back tonight when they host the spurs from Chase center at 7. At the sports desk, Ted Raimi, Kay CBS. We are all on this planet together. So join Odyssey and find your one thing. After Halloween this year, don't throw out your jack-o'-lantern. Use it to start composting instead. Pumpkins and other gourds are perfect additions to any compost pile. Also, you can add container soil and roots from potted plants that have withered away, and if you have a garden, be sure to add garden waste from cleaning

"Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee zeldin, accepting the endorsement of the corrections officers union outside Rikers Island, jail earlier this week. We want boldness. We want courage and that means that on day one, we will declare a crime emergency in the state of New York. Zelda is promising to suspend bail reform and other recent reforms meant to reduce the number of people in jail. Republicans say when some of those people are released, they reoffend. But Democrats say the percentages are very low and it's unjust to keep people locked up before trial just because they can't afford bail. Tiffany caban is a New York City council member and former public defender who advocates for less incarceration. For a long time, black and brown communities have been harmed by the policies and laws connected to our criminal legal system. And this is us trying to right some wrongs. And we've done it in a way that has not had an effect on public safety. And that's what all the data and the research shows. But everyone doesn't agree about what the numbers show. To get an opposite view of reality, just go to the queen's neighborhood of Rafael mengal. He researches policing and public safety for the conservative Manhattan institute. He's convinced that recent laws to reduce incarceration have undermined public order in New York. I think that the criminal offending population has taken note. And I think that New Yorkers are noticing that, just by virtue of that general deterioration in order, people taking over streets now to hold little car events where they're doing donuts in a circle literally stopping traffic in America's most major city. As if they are the police. The complicated truth is that there have been so many social variables in the last few years, closed schools disrupted work, political upheaval, that no one can really prove that one thing made crime go up. What is clear, though, is the public's concern, acknowledged last night during the gubernatorial debate by democratic governor Kathy hochul. Now I understand the fear. I walked the streets of New York City every day. I've taken the subways. This fear is real. There's facts that talk about statistics, which make a different case, but I'm also dealing with real human beings. And that fear has allowed Zelda to make this a competitive race, which opens up the possibility that the next governor of New York could be a pro Trump Republican. Martin costi and PR news, New York

Download <Speech_Female> the app, <Speech_Female> create a profile, <Speech_Female> and then within 24 <Speech_Female> hours you'll start to see <Speech_Female> the ships available in your <Speech_Female> area, and you can start building <Speech_Female> your schedule. <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> Awesome. And <Speech_Male> if you're talking to those military <Speech_Male> spouses out there <Speech_Male> or folks <Speech_Male> that are still in <Speech_Male> active duty looking for <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> an additional source <Speech_Male> of income or veterans, <Speech_Male> whatever in the <Speech_Male> veteran community, <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> what's the final <Speech_Male> word you have <Speech_Male> for what <Speech_Male> insta word can do for them? <Silence> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Female> That's <Laughter> an awesome way to close <Speech_Female> this out. I <Speech_Female> think <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> if <Speech_Female> you're a military <Speech_Female> spouse, <Laughter> a lot of <Speech_Female> our pros on the <Speech_Female> platform or our app <Speech_Female> users have <Speech_Female> experienced some of the similar <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> frustrations <Speech_Female> or concerns <Speech_Female> that military <Speech_Female> spouses have. <Speech_Female> It's they need the flexibility <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> to maneuver <Speech_Female> either <Speech_Female> moving around <Speech_Female> the country, <Speech_Female> taking care of kids, <Speech_Female> school schedules, <Speech_Female> all of those things that <Speech_Female> caregivers <Speech_Female> have to deal with. <Speech_Female> And <Speech_Female> they don't have the network <Speech_Female> to <Speech_Female> find stable jobs in <Speech_Female> each one of the cities that <Speech_Female> they need. Or they have <Speech_Female> to quit a job every time <Speech_Female> that they move <Speech_Female> in store work is a way to <Speech_Female> solve that where you still <Speech_Female> get all of the flexibility <Speech_Female> that you need. <Speech_Female> And you just build <Speech_Female> a work schedule around <Speech_Female> your personal life. <Speech_Female> I think the same <Speech_Female> thing applies for <Speech_Female> veterans <Speech_Female> or people who are transitioning <Speech_Female> out of service <Speech_Female> right now. <Speech_Female> If you're worried about <Speech_Female> having any kind of <Speech_Female> gap in income, <Speech_Female> while <Speech_Female> you're figuring out what <Speech_Female> your next step is, <Speech_Female> whether it's something you <Speech_Female> want to do on entrepreneurship <Speech_Female> or you just don't <Speech_Female> quite know how you want <Speech_Female> to take your experience and <Speech_Female> apply it in <Speech_Female> the civilian world. <Speech_Female> Pick up a shift <Speech_Female> and answer. You may <Speech_Female> find something you really <Speech_Female> love. You won't have <Speech_Female> that gap in income. <Speech_Female> And it's <Speech_Female> just a great experience and you <Speech_Female> can build out your <Speech_Female> network even further <Speech_Female> that way. <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> That's awesome. All right, <Speech_Male> carrot. Well, <Speech_Male> thanks for <Speech_Male> sharing a <Speech_Male> great opportunity <Speech_Male> for veterans <Speech_Male> and their families and <Speech_Male> especially the military <Speech_Male> spouses doing <Speech_Male> a lot of good stuff. <Speech_Male> With <Speech_Male> the relationship for <Speech_Male> hiring our <Speech_Male> heroes. So <Speech_Male> look forward to seeing <Speech_Male> the future success <Speech_Male> of insta work. <Silence> Thank you so <Speech_Female> much for having me. You <Silence> <Advertisement> bet. <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> Thank you. "Come in, they're doing a couple jobs are gone, or how many people have been on the platform for years, you mentioned there are some few people that make like 6 figures. People love the platform so much that once they come on 80% of the people stay and work with other stats, can you share with us along those lines? Yeah, it's hard to put specific numbers to that because of the amount of people that we do have on the platform. Their particular journey just varies from one person to the next. What I can tell you is just stories I talked to app users or pros regularly. And we do hear some really interesting stories. I mentioned the person who made 6 figures on the app. There's other people that have decided, they started using in store as a side hustle. They had a regular 9 to 5 salary job. And they wanted to pay for a vacation or do something special and they just needed the extra money. And then once they started going on the app, they ended up replacing their 9 to 5 job with insta work because it gave them the flexibility that they were looking for. And then they also got to decide how much money they need, which is something traditionally people don't have much say in, you know, once you get a job you're kind of confined to a range. And so that's been interesting. You know, you do have some people that maybe hit their financial goal if it's a summer trip, and then they take a break, but a lot of times we'll see them come back, you know, whether it's a particular season or they just want to have some extra money or maybe they're contemplating a new career shift. And while they're taking the time to figure that out, they just want to use the app to make the money so they don't have that gap in income.

"Opportunities or work opportunities through the businesses in your area. So I mentioned before we do do the background check. But then we use technology to make sure that you are being better matched or best matched to the businesses in your area so that it's a good fit either way. And then if there's any follow-up, you'll be prompted either within the app or somebody from support would reach out. And then are there, like, is it like, is it like Uber where the user gets evaluated by the driver and the users evaluate the drivers also? And so certain companies built up 5 star ratings or certain it's very similar to that actually. We do try to create, again, in the spirit of transparency, the business can rate the worker after a shift on a 5 star rating scale, just like you would see in Uber. But the worker also has the ability to rate the business that they work for on a 5 star rating scale. So when you're looking at those ships, you can get an idea from a worker perspective, what it's been like to work for that business. And then also other businesses in your area get insight into those specific workers that may be picking up shifts and how other businesses in the area have rated them. So it's both sides of the coin there. Okay. So are you able to share any instrument numbers with us? Number of companies on the platform or customers on the platform or whatever it is, you've got any cool stats for us that you can have a ton of cool stats. So we are growing like crazy. So right now we have over 2 million pros, which are our app users of the workers in network. And that number is growing every day. We also staff over 2 million and I'm sure if I looked, it would be constantly rolling off, especially heading into the holidays where people want the extra money.

"And then within 24 hours, you can start seeing the shifts in your area and start building a schedule, whether it's picking up a shift the next day, a week out a month out, whatever it is, it's entirely up to you. Or most of the most of the jobs are they more brick and mortar type jobs, are they more remote type work? So a lot of this is more for in person experience. So the industries that we currently serve are hospitality, warehouse logistics, supply chain management, things like that, retail, we also care that a lot of the workers that are using the app find really fun and unique experiences. So we staff the majority of the baseball stadiums across the country right now. Other sporting events, concert venues, things like that. So you can sprinkle in some fun while you're earning an income. And so within those industries, it's usually in person. So at the stadiums, it might be concession or cashiering in a retail space. For supply chain or warehouse logistics, it could be helping in a warehouse, making sure that people get their packages. There's a variety. There's a ton of opportunity there. And so if you're just looking to get some different experience that way, you can have at it. The other interesting thing about insta work is that you're not obligated to work for a certain business in a certain role for a certain amount of time. So one day you may pick up a concession stand at your local baseball stadium and the next day you may pick up a warehousing shift. It's entirely up to you to figure out how you want to work. Okay. That's definitely something that's unique about insta work is because so many of these places platforms, they're focusing on the online remote work where you're actually promoting the in person brick and mortar or type experiences. So that's got to be, I don't know of another one that's really doing that. So at least I haven't heard of. So that's kind of cool. It's definitely different. It's interesting because I have been monitoring the conversations on what the future of work looks like and a lot of those conversations are around remote workforce desk side employees. But what we're seeing is that there's not a lot of conversation about what is the future of work look like for the hourly worker or the in person worker and some of these industries that I mentioned. And so we're kind of the first that is tackling this. And we're creating a new space that is flexible work for the hourly worker. They want to be able to go and travel or attend their kids soccer games or take care of their families for military members. They can take the app with them when they move to a new city. And so you don't have that gap in network or income, even when you're moving domestically, you can take it with you. So it's all about flexibility and getting paid higher wages. And really creating the future of work for those people. And so that is something that we're kind of excited about to be the first off. That's awesome. All right, we're going to take a quick break. We'll be right back. Many of you have figured out what's next in your career. As a veteran, you might be looking at

"You can get rewarded for wherever you're headed next. All right, today we're talking with Kira kaban from insta work. Kyra, welcome to the show. Typically I'd like to start off in tickets back a little bit to us about your background. Sure. Thanks for having me, Joe. Like you mentioned my name is Kira. I'm from in store work. Insta work is a flexible work app that connects local businesses in cities all over the country with a network of more than 2 million hourly workers. And so really in historic is all about giving people the opportunity to define when they work, how they work and where they work. So a little bit about me, I'm from the D.C. area, and I've been with in store a little bit more than a year. And just a little bit of context is how we came to be partnered with hiring our heroes. The last company that I worked for as a company called pre tennis based at a Baltimore. And the CEO is a veteran. And so when we were having the conversation about me coming over to in store, he's like, you know what? This is a great thing that in historic is doing and you have to find a way to get military spouses involved and transitioning members of service because there's one just a gap of employment when somebody leaves service, trying to figure out what their next career path is going to look like in military spouses are always battling moving, trying to find sources of income, you know, whatever their career path is and this would be a great fit. So having Nick in the back of my mind as we were kind of figuring out what these different partnerships would look like, hiring our heroes was a no brainer and we've been really excited to partner with them. Awesome. And when did this relationship with hiring our heroes and insta works start? So the relationship is fairly new. We're a few months into the partnership. It's something that insta works committed to. We love supporting this community. And it's something that we're going to be doing for the foreseeable future. We're just really excited. My husband also works at Walter Reed in Bethesda. And so he's been a great source of knowledge and just putting hiring our heroes out to the service members that he's working with. Is they're thinking about transitioning and also giving us resources that we should be thinking about as we continue this partnership. So it's multifaceted and it's really unique how the world seems so big, but it's actually really small when you get down to the brass tacks of it all. And so we're just really excited to be partnering with them and seeing how we can help this community. So let's dig in to insta work a little bit because there's a number of platforms similar or in the hired online or via online. Talk some details about insta work like

"Steph Curry didn't seem to, but I think everybody has, but I think once you get in the rhythm and the flow of the game, you kind of forget all that and you're just playing a sport that you've been playing for what 20 years. And I think that goes out the window eventually. I don't think players are still nervous when they play like ten minutes already, right? At least they shouldn't be. But in the very beginning, yeah, when that ball tips off, you're definitely I think all ten players are feeling butterflies and everybody else on the bench as well. Okay, that's interesting because yeah, you know, Ted and this couldn't get it going. He could not get his footwork was weird like there were times he traveled on a one they missed, we missed a three and it's almost like, I think sometimes if you realize you travel and you get away with it, you can miss the shot sometimes, you know what I mean? Like you almost like, oh, that was not good. But it also means that your footwork was a little bit off as it was. And so he airballed. I think that one, big time. He caught the ball, the right foot down, and then went left right left, and they didn't call it. At any rate, ball don't lie here. But there was a couple moments where you do like a spin, then his feet are too close together, and they're not in the right position to jump. Another time where he spawned and then he just didn't even see Looney who had come over to help because he spawned, I guess he was back with the Looney for a second. And then just catapulted himself into the defender's hoping for a foul and it got blocked. So I suspect he'll be a lot better in the next game. So that's why Celtics can say, well, we won the game, even though Tatum was not good at all. But then I guess you had the same argument with like draymond, right? Draymond's not going to go too for 12. But I had tweeted this in March and I read it straight or may or may or a month ago, and then I shared it again. Sometimes caban Looney and draymond green are competing for who is more suboptimal and finishing at the basket. I feel like that's a real thing that they neither of them have ever improved much. Yeah, I mean, draymond did have a little bit of energy in that first half. I remember him grabbing a rebound, putting it back up, getting strong..

"City of New York are they as mad as hell and they can't take it anymore whether they're Democrats or Republicans I think that would be true But I wanted to ask you a question because you're the perfect guy to ask this type of question because of your experience and you actually owning businesses in New York City and being so politically connected New York is very liberal Can you answer this for me Who benefits from New York devolvement into a crime ridden city such as it is right now If it's a bunch of liberals running it who benefits the most if it goes that direction Because it's confusing to me why liberals a lot of my I'll tell you a lot of my liberal friends and I love them dearly They are the first ones to get up and move They voted for those people and they're the first ones to get up and move I mean the courage level is on a scale of one to ten is a one And I ask all common sense Democrats to stand up and worry about the common senses before they worry about the work culture Go ahead and who else is next It's Richard I agree with you a 100% sure These very same people They're the first ones to send their kids to private school Then the first one to move into the safest neighborhood or gated community It's almost like they feel on the one hand they want to live their lives on a certain level Which comports with the views of the majority And on another level then they want to be cooled with the media and culture out there It seems to me And they want to say of course I vote Democrat I love progressive It's a real problem And it's undermining the city in many ways Yeah I would just say look I think there's a big difference between the kind of people that Richard's talking about the so called limousine liberal that sits on the editorial board of The New York Times and sips their $20 latte at Starbucks while reading The New York Times thumbing their nose at everybody and somebody like Tiffany caban in Queens Somebody like council member Richardson in Harlem These are people that are militant left wing and want to tear down a lot of America's institutions I think a lot of the problem goes to an issue that you've been covering and the one that your daughter has been working on behalf of And that is how our elections are structured in New York because when you have 90% of the districts one party districts and that district is Democrat all you have to do to get elected in those districts is to be the most left wing person in those districts So what that leads to is a much more militant left wing candidate than the actual overall constituency Democrats independents are left out Republicans are left out and Democrats that don't vote in the primary are left out I would hope that if we want to make some serious changes right Legislature How are they doing One mean one through gerrymandering and two through closed primaries I think those are the two biggest factors But 90% of our audience don't know what the heck you're talking about So tell us And everybody would cherry Mandarin it is In 5 seconds instead of voters choosing their politicians it's when politicians choose their voters And they create these voters that are one party Democrat or Republican districts and since this Democrats control the state legislature in New York it's one party Democrat in most of the districts So in other words they create a district that is all mostly Democrats and they don't allow Republicans to create other districts like that Republicans Well correct And they only allow Democrats to vote in the primary which means that the most left wing candidate is always going to get elected You remember mayor Bloomberg and a number of years ago wanted nonpartisan elections for the city and put it up as a ballot initiative And the left worked very hard to defeat that measure But if we had done it like Frank is saying and take the partisanship out of these elections you wouldn't have this race to the left You'd have a situation where people can vote independently And we don't have that And it's a big deficit to the city politically and the state Yeah Well guys thank you for waking up early JP Miller from the empire report and why dot com Richard Schwartz Mark Roberts Frank Moreno and Brian Sagan and we have a mess when I hit We have a mess in the world and we have a mess in New York and we better fix it this November Otherwise we're going to be in deep due to stay tuned to the catch roundtable local edition and natural addiction that is a really great show today You can depend on us and enable their 77 WABC Alexa skill at home download the 77 WABC mobile app on your phone Don't miss a minute Talk radio 77 WABC Finding great candidates to hire can be like well trying to find a needle in a haystack Sure you can post your job to some job board but then all.

"But and you reminded me that the reason we were talking for about how arsenal were pouring this game I thought it would be part of it was you have to play four one four one and you only have one midfielder left because I'll then use away and parties suspended. Partition that's ready. We forgot about that. Credit chuck, of course. He's also suspended. For the forest gate in the second forest, man. I have to ask about this guy because his contract was expiring. Mourinho wanted him at Roma, apparently, over the summer. Let him go. Bye bye, granite. In fact, you can say it. I think we just don't. You probably speak like seriously. I was thinking about this, right? You could have said you could have said of why you could have said juice, you could have said chow. You could have said whatever it is in your mouth. I think it would have. I think that suited arsenal for the transfer fee. They wanted more money than what Roman were ready to offer. How do you just take what he offers rather than this guy hanging around? Because I don't think there's an arsenal player, but maybe elbow is challenging in ABBA and other former captain challenging for this now. Another foreign player who gets more criticism from our family. I can see the leadership. I see those qualities 100%. I can see that. I can see that at times when he passes the ball forward, there's something there. And I is left footed which you need. I think some artifacts as something important. He seems to be the only club in the world where people obsess over the left footed central. But no, trust me, it's not the only climb. But whether you talk about such an issue, what we look long is there on his own. I know, I know. I like to get this is why I'm always stop a little short of criticizing up dead they will not play badly, because I figure, what kind of a madhouse is he in with these players? I know. I know. It's difficult building a proper squad. What, trust me? Let's go. Let's move on. Let's talk about album. Oh, God. Anyway, he wasn't there for arsenal. And he wasn't there for Gabon, either. Neither was Mario lemina. Jules, now the spike going out of ten men, caban got a last ditch equalizer against Burkina Faso. It looked like the momentum had shifted. But no. Penalties. Yeah, equivalent. Scored that goal to be fair, when they equalize, I thought, okay, this is it, they got to go and even in the penalty shootout, I thought they were going to win it, and then Burkina Faso and. Somehow, I think for the resources of staying in the game, wait for the penalties and make sure that they go keeper made the difference. I love the Burkina Faso goalkeeper. I watched this morning. He's got the black gloves. His gloves don't look. I'm sure they are football clubs. But they look like gloves, you'd wear outside when it's cold. And while his teammates taking the penalty, you know, most people crouch down or they squat, the goalkeepers. No, he's doing this thing. He was like, on all fours, like a cat. I love that. I love that. What a character that guy is. Well done Burkina Faso and by the way, let's obviously there's issues going on in Burkina Faso and wagon. A report of a possible military coup reports of violence just hope everybody's safe. And gab, you were so hot on Nigeria in the last year after they would order that three group games. And guess what? They got knocked out by COVID hit Tunisia who had been pointed group stages at 7 players out for that game against Nigeria and yet find a way of winning it when them. Now, I blame your circumstances. Because in the last line, you had got you wore the gun assured as the black stars got knocked out. I know. Now this. I'm worried that Nigeria 94 shirt. I had planned all the shirts I was riding through the copy. Don't tell us who's next because that could impact that market. I didn't think that I didn't think that J I would lose to each other as much as love as much as I loved Tunisia and what we casually and all the team. They didn't even have the head coach on the bench because of COVID. And yet they benefited from a big mistake by the Nigerian goalkeeper. But still, they were so solid and so well organized. And Alex will be coming off and getting that it was not a good definite jail. By any ecosystem Augsburg ankhs to stay third I see what I did there. Patrick shit doesn't score. But your boy Musa jabi dies. It's a hot trick. It's November, a little bit. I think he was, well, Dolly was out 5 was involved in the first group by Bala rabi two. Really good. I like this liver Christine. We said our French wild. Swapping. Napoli moved to second in Syria between a four one. Gab goes for the little guys, merchants, and insignia incident, by the way, a 115. He has Diego. Yeah, which you never really equalize Diego. Let's not even mention this because it's a different era different time. Samaritans, though, it's really funny. He is contract expires, like in seniors. Unlike in senior, he's not skipping town to go to MLS. He wants to stay. He came out. Yeah, so he's about to become a dad again. And he says, you know, a little boy and he's born. Like he said, I'll name him Cheeto, which is Americans as nicknames. Very typical Neapolitan name. And I'll include him in the contract in a couple years, no doubt, he'll be ready, but it's very safe. I love players who leave money on the table and say, you know what? I like it here. I'm a stay. I agree. Hometown discount. And this is his hometown now. IX leap back to the top of the air DVD beating paste Eindhoven two one. Jose, this is a big win. This is gonna flip flop back and forth all season long. Yeah, it was, although the reverse picture earlier in the season 5 daily in Amsterdam, this one between those two games, the drop a few posts, had a few draws. And that's how PSP went back onto the top. I asked what the best team while probably. Human bowling ball Brian grubby who came back from Leipzig remember he left to go came back with a really good goal and got doing so great over there at PSV scoring to make it one of the most lovely gold two. I thought I asked were great. I thought this was a really good game. They both did in Europe. I really do that I really hope they do well in the Champions League. And in the European league and I think that was a really great publicity for the arrow division overall. So much for the same defensive guard because he's Robert teams for four first half goals against employee Abraham bags. Another two thus, I think ten though in the league. Yeah, and sexually Vera, looking really good as well. Huge impact just in Mourinho vindicated against the haters. Although people now are pointing out, wait a minute, just say, you keep telling us how terrible this team is how terrible your players are. How you can't do anything. But then you go out and you play like this and you score four goals in a single half, which one is it? Marino can't wait and Kennedy Cohen. But big win for this. Yeah, it was dude. Now back when I was growing up Jules, Olympic Leone and Santa Tian was the big Darby and Liga..

"Kauai, Jordan. These guys get the ball to triple threat position. They look over the defense. They can shoot over their own guys. They can fade over their own guys. They literally, when they stand up tall and hold the ball they look like they're lording over their dominion. Then you have your low post centers. You're shacks, you're a large ones, even wilt back in the day. You give them a ball, down low. They either draw a double team or they shoot and score. That's it. That's controlling the action. That's how the greatest players before Korea and every great player really other than current. Most of them, anyway, with some exceptions like a Magic Johnson or an Oscar Robertson or Jerry West. That's how they sort of exercise their dominion over an entire game, bent an entire game to their will. Curry doesn't play like that. And that's been part of the difficulty I think in assessing exactly what his plays in history should be. He's actually been a really good efficient isolation score. It's just not something that has done that much. Some of that is by choice his choice. Steve Kerr's choice. Some is probably just basic physical realities. It's not easy for a 6 two guy to score one on one if you put Kawhi Leonard on him or LeBron on him or whatever big win you have on your team, which was every playoff defense is gonna try to do. Even though he's such a great shooter, you have to press curry basically everywhere beyond half court, and that makes it easy for him to drive by you and all that. It's just not the way he's played. It's not the way he's built to play. Steve current and I once talked about game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals, which no team scored for four straight minutes, the warriors offense sort of ground to a halt the Cavs switched everything in the warriors couldn't get a good shot. And he talked about it in the context of the warriors signing Kevin Durant. And when he told me, was, quote, Durant gets us shots we didn't used to be able to get at the end of those 2016 finals. We couldn't get a good shot. Last year, he's talking about a year with Durant. We could get almost any shot we wanted. And really, like, you can not overstate the degree to which the Durant signing in Golden State was just an absolute seismic event. It was an earthquake. The league is really still recovering from him. It changed everything, including how we perceive Steph Curry. But anyway, what all these top 15 guys really do when it comes down to it is either score or draw two defenders onto them, draw double teams. Steph just does that in a way we've never really seen. He does it a lot on the pick and roll, which of course we have seen. We all know what the Steph draymond pick and roll can do. It's magic. The unspoken chemistry, those two have. That's a dream. That's why we watch sports to see something special like that evolve over time. Two geniuses with complimentary skill sets coming together by chance. A lottery pick, who should have gone number one and a second rounder. I mean, come on. That's awesome. Curry broke basic NBA pick and roll defense just broke it. No one had ever taken so many off the dribble threes. No one had ever dreamed anyone could hit almost half of those kinds of attempts. In the 2013 playoffs, which is really when the warriors kind of made their mark, I called curry a glitch in the system. That was this postseason coming out party. The moment the entire league realized uh oh, this dude is a problem on the biggest stages against the best defense. He's not just a regular season carnival. That really crystallized against the spurs in the second round. The spurs tried to play traditional drop peck defense against curry and he absolutely tore them apart. You can see the spurs realizing in real time. Wow. Wow boy, this is something new. We weren't really prepared for this. What is this that we're facing? The warriors might have won that series head curry and Andrew Bogut not gotten hurt. They also blew an enormous lead in game Warner game two. I can't remember how I thought my head, those spurs, the spurs that just squeaked by the warriors in 6 games really had injury riddle worse than they went on to come within a Ray Allen shot of winning the championship. I also think back a lot to the last few minutes of game 6 of the 2019 finals against the raptors warriors raptors after Klay Thompson at tour his ACL. Kevin Durant, of course, was already hurt. Curry was playing crunch time with a lineup. This was a real lineup that they were playing down the stretch of an elimination game in the finals. Sean Livingston, Andre Iguodala, draymond green editor, boogie cousins or caban Looney. That is literally Steph Curry and four bad shooters. The raptors were using a boxing one against them in their curry was running around screens running all over the floor, dragging three raptors with them, not just two, you watched the tape three raptors with them, wherever you went, just setting picks, cutting around, sometimes they never even touched the ball. And all the attention that he drew, all the screens he set that ended up with two and three guys chasing him. They allowed all those non shooters to just kind of like pity pat the ball around in the paint until one of them had a layup or got fouled or something. It was incredible. The secret sauce of the warriors with curry has always been for all the attention that the three pointers get the splash whereas and all that for all the focus on the defense and how great it's been. The secret sauce of their offense is they get a ton of shots at the rim because of how much attention curry draws away from the rim. By the way, that even started happening on fast breaks in like 2015, 2016. Curry would run the wing on fast rakes in like three defenders would chase him. He didn't even have the ball three defenders would chase him even though they knew doing that might concede a layup to someone who just sort of runs down the middle. Like, no one's guarding me because they're all gardening curry. Boom dunk. It's a form of dominance that just didn't look like traditional basketball dominance. Even in the way we read and perceive the game curry is a glitch in the system. Far not the following season 2019 2020 was positioned as a referendum on curry. Durant was gone to the nets. Clay was heard. D'angelo Russell was on board. Draymond was healthy. LeBron, we said, you could take any roster to 50 wins. Good stuff. Kind of forgot the Durant thing made us forget what Steph had done before Durant got there. Curry broke his hand in the fourth game of that season. The warriors were one and three. All of their losses were blowouts. We didn't get an answer because of the broken hand, but it didn't look great. Now, curry is answered all the questions. It's over. The only question is how high he will ascend on the all time player rankings. It's too early to go there now. But it's gonna be a really, really high. In his locker room speech of MSG, you can watch it on YouTube. Curry thanked among many, quote, everybody who believes in the offense. I thought that was fitting. Golden State's offense is different than any other offense because curry is different from any other number one option that ever came before him in the NBA. The warriors system and curry are inseparable. He is the system. The warriors found a bunch of players this season who understand how to play that system and they are flying again and Klay Thompson isn't even back yet. Curry is going to put so much distance between himself and reality. It's a joke. There was no suspense in court getting the record. We were just waiting on the inevitable. But it was a fun excuse to celebrate a universally beloved player, an all time teammate, the greatest shooter ever. Curry has a lot left to accomplish, but let's raise our glasses to the once and forever. Glitch in the system. Now let's bring in ESPN's Nick free Dell who was at that game to share.
