"An effort to silence you and to make sure that you don't get out of line, no doubt about that and they use the guys of violence to get you to shut up and not say anything. They also threaten the FBI coming to your house in a big suburban in the middle of broad daylight when armed agents come and arrest you like what happened to a pro life leader in bucks county, Pennsylvania, a short time ago and others as well, obviously. This is the Mark Levin show. It's great to be with you tonight, rich zoli from Tucker do 1210 WPA in Philadelphia where I host the afternoon drive show, which is a lot of fun and way more fun than hosting the morning show, which I used to do, but I have young kids and getting up at three 30 every day just wasn't that much fun to be honest with you. But I'm sure that you probably well, I also love reacting to the breaking news of the day. And there's always so much breaking news in the afternoon. And obviously, and Mark show, it's afternoon, perhaps where you are right now, because I know we've heard all over the country, and obviously it might be only 5 30 where you're listening right now. Either way, I hope you have a great Thanksgiving and appreciate you being with me tonight. The question I want to ask is this is Riley gains a hater. Is she a hater? Riley is a champion swimmer. And Riley gaines is now endorsing Herschel Walker in the race in Georgia. And I tell you something, it's really critical, I think, that Herschel Walker wins that seat has to happen. And Riley gaines is a champion. She's an outspoken critic of allowing biological men to compete against women in sports. I don't know if you have any swimmers in your family. My son swims and it's very competitive. It's tough. I mean, these kids do a lot. They're constantly practicing. They got to get in the pool when it's chilly. You know, they got to swim. It's a lot of work. They do winter swimming. So imagine like this, you know, you're a young woman and you've worked since you were really 5 years old. Swimming, competitively. I think that's how young they start. And you get to college and you're trying on the swim team, and you get bumped for a dude, or you are swimming, and then a biological male beats you in the pool as what's happened with Leah Thomas at the University of Pennsylvania. Well, it's wrong. It's just flat out wrong. I mean, you know, you should have to swim with your biology. That's it. You're born a man, you should swim with the man if you're born a woman, swim with the women. It's just the way it goes. It's just biology. It's science, after all, and you can't change science. I thought that's what the left believed. Until it comes to the idea of transgender ideology in which case then science becomes meaningless. While Riley gaines believes very passionately in women's athletics and defending women's athletics and she's out there on a national tour speaking about this. She was a champion and CWA champion swimmer and she wants people to know that yeah, you know what? These women work really hard and they deserve to be able to compete fairly. What's wrong with that? Nothing. And of course, many people on the left, she's part of the problem. She's a hater. She her thoughts on this give rise to the shooting in Colorado by the non binary shooter who identifies as they them. I mean, I'm sure in some twisted logic, that's what the left thinks. But she put out an ad for Herschel Walker in Georgia, cut 27. Marley gaines, a 12 time incidentally all American. And

"Me go ahead and train your social calendar. If you're in fairfax, George may some men open up tonight. If you're in college park and you want to see an amazing women's basketball matchup, Maryland takes on South Carolina. That is the team that's the defending champion and CWA women's basketball champion. It's also a team that has some size You know, we have to play to our advantages and hopefully get up and down the floor and we want to be able to run and be able to shoot the basketball. Threes are better than twos. And just play Marilyn basketball. So we're different a lot different than they are and just play to our strengths. Let me tell you something. Marilyn Williams basketball is a lot of fun and they score a lot. Golf is not a good walk spoiler for silver star medal recipient and retired United States Army captain Christopher Christopher cordova, instead it's an important escape from the trauma of war. But your opponent add a very big groundswell. That was even beyond a send a member denotes and maybe some people you've had some real personal rivalries with. We've mentioned that Michelin camillo was close with The Bronx Democratic Party and they were planning to support her in a different race and then the lines were shifting and they stuck with her. Representative Adriano espa, Richie Torres as well, assemblies people, Carl hasty. And others, mayor Eric Adams, borough president, Vanessa Gibson. Was this about they're all sort of on one club. And so there was sort of no relationship there that was really going to work with you. How do you sort of explain that many prominent elected officials going against you in your own party in this primary? That's something you're going to have to ask them. What I want to linger on is the folks that I'm incredibly proud to have received support from. First of all, most importantly, my constituency folks who would be elected me. But certainly folks in labor, whether you mentioned 11 9 9 nurses, TW, CWA, RWDSU, HTC, certainly the working families party. I mean, I could go on and these are folks who I work with very closely over the last 11 years. And recognize, again, this all has to be about the work. This is about the work that. And that is what I want to focus on. And for me, for me, it's like that's the reason why they chose to support to support her. That's something you're going to have to ask them. But ultimately, for me, it's about the work even with the folks who are because I know in particular, there were a few there were a few unions who went with her, and they made that decision. That's on them. I still look forward to working with them next year when I will be back in the Senate. So that's what I will continue to focus on. One of the things that you get lauded for a lot is independence.

"Another charge of union busting against Apple, we heard yesterday of a communications workers of America or CWA complaint against Apple on behalf of Apple retail workers and Atlanta. Now the CWA is leveling a similar charge on behalf of workers and apple's World Trade Center store in New York. And gadget has the CWA accusing Apple of violating multiple federal labor laws among them unlawfully enacting a rule banning workers from posting union fliers in work areas during their breaks and holding captive audience meetings meant to discourage unionization. Those we heard about yesterday with Atlanta retail workers saying that startup shift meetings, which used to be for store and corporate happenings, have increasingly included talk of corporate culture, benefits, and anti union messaging. Accusations of the World Trade Center store seem to go further. According to N gadget, the complaint alleges that Apple interrogated workers at the World Trade Center store regarding their protected concerted activities Apple also allegedly monitored those activities or at least made employees believe that they were being monitored. Tim dub now, CWA's deputy organizing director as quoted in the piece saying the best thing apple can do is allow workers to choose for themselves whether or not they want a union when we learn of situations where apple is violating labor law, we intend to hold the company accountable and help the workers defend their rights Some sites I saw earlier this week guess that Mondays updates for almost everything apple makes would be the last before the moves to the 16.0 updates, watchOS 9, and wherever we go after macOS Monterey. Those sites were wrong it seems. No surprise really, it feels like this happens every year about this time. While they probably won't have a lot in the way of whiz bang features, there is at least one more round of updates coming before whatever is announced at WWDC. A few pieces from imore say that Apple on Wednesday release betas to developers of iOS 15.6, iPadOS 15 6, macOS Monterey 12.5 and watchOS 8.7. Additionally, a piece from Mac rumors says Apple also let developers have the first betas of tvOS 15.6 and version 15.6 of the HomePod software. This early in the game, there is no telling what new things they do if they do anything.

"Us Major airlines have dropped their mask mandates allowing customers to choose whether or not to mask up but it's a bit more complicated than that And for more on reactions to this change we bring in Sarah Nelson association of flight attendants CWA president Sarah It's great to see you Thank you for coming back to talk to us The last time we spoke it was a few weeks back It was before the mandate actually dropped And you were talking about some of the many challenges that flight crews have experienced here Now that it's gone there's a relief for flight crews But there's also a patchwork of policies In some cities you have to have a mask in the airport only to take it off on the airplane How much of a problem is that confusion for your members It's always a problem Joe when people are giving different instruction in different spaces and they can't keep up with what the rules are Most people actually want to follow the rules and comply But when they're not prepared to do so don't have certain expectations and those expectations aren't met That gives rise for anxiety and that can often lead to conflict and it makes our jobs harder So the way that this was communicated in the first place from one moment in time will flights were already in the air Yeah That was a chaotic situation that we would not want to duplicate ever again So you would call this an improvement despite the existing confusion things are getting better for association members Well listen there was a collective sigh of relief with the end to the mask mandate and the reason for that is because flight attendants have been on the front lines taking the brunt of enforcing this We don't make the rules but we enforce the rules to keep us safe And flight of citizens themselves were having to wear those masks 15 16 17 hours a day If you include the time that they're transiting to and from the hotel So this was this was very difficult for flight attendants and they're glad that they don't have to do that anymore But I have to tell you the conflict doesn't end on the planes And because people are getting upset for a lot of different reasons And a lot of those physical confrontations that you've seen on the evening news those are the result of other issues entirely not having anything to do with masks So we still have a lot of work to do to calm down our skies With that said Sarah should customers who were kicked off of flights for being aggressive for refusing to wear a mask for actually assaulting flight crews over the last two years Should they be on a no fly list Should they never fly again Well let's be really clear If someone got physical if someone assaulted a crew member or another passenger Yeah they're flying privileges should be gone And there is a bill in Congress to put this in place that would be enforced by the TSA And we could do that We could have a transparent process where there's also a due process So people do have the ability to appeal They also have the ability to try to get off that list at some point in time But if someone was aggressive and violent absolutely they need to be banned If they just didn't follow the rules then we need to have a process in place where maybe they can come back on board if they were just refusing to comply with that mask mandate But it should not be a blanket Come on back right now because we're sending the message to everyone that the rules overall don't matter And that's just not true We have to keep everyone safe Last time we spoke you were also concerned about the role that alcohol was playing in this not so much on the airplane Sarah but in the airport and the aggressive marketing that we're seeing there are people who are getting sloshed before they get in the gate even and walking onto the plane as a starting point there The mask mandate coming down is not going to change that Should booze be banned in airports Well Joe I can tell you right now that I could take that position but it would not be a popular position And I wouldn't win Here's what we want though Alcohol has always been a problem in the skies It's always been a major contributor to disruptive passengers to violent passengers And so we don't need what happened during the pandemic which was to go policy for these concession errors in the bars in the airports that were in place for public health measures that they have kept in place because they determined this is a way that they can earn money So what we need to do is we really just need to have a crackdown in the airport where we're not pushing us to go alcohol but we've got clear signage and also that all of the bartenders are trained in the stoplight system so that they're not serving people to the point of being inebriated before they come to our planes And we just have to be really clear with people that you're the boarding will be denied If you appear to be inebriated and you can't bring your own alcohol on board you have to wait to be served by an aviation professional Your union represents 50,000 flight attendants at 17 airlines Sarah We've started hearing from some of those airlines coming back to life if you will after COVID And a lot of people strong demand to get on airplanes We've seen quite a number of delays because of a labor shortage difficulty getting cruise to Gates and timed or even to cities in time for planes to take off How much of a problem is this going to be the sort of growing pains of coming back to something closer to normal So Joe first of all I just want to really applaud our union And working with the airlines to get the federal relief in place.

Thanks for having me back. I was just telling the folks here, like I've known you since before, my daughter was born. So that adds up to probably close to 23 years, amazing. Yes. How long have you been to my children were grateful for your children's books when they were little when they were babies and you were working for Coulson? Yeah, I've written so many I've written over 30 children's books now. I actually forgot. I forgot about that part of my life, but I've written so many children's books. But here we are. And we are now, we're living through such strange times. It's the kind of thing that somebody like chuck holson would have would have brought up about the future. This is where we're headed if we don't do this or don't do that. Here we are now living in a world where someone like you writes an article about the madness going on, in this case, in women's sports. So where does the article appear that you wrote called young women left behind again? Well, it'll be on our website. It concerned women dot org in another very sundry places. But the bottom line is that there is a disease that is impacting our young women around this country. Young men too, but the vast majority of people who are dealing with this and I think it's a contagion honestly. Are young women who feel that they're at the edges of society. And yeah, you're right. Chuck Colson talked about post Christian America and he talked about the dangers of us ignoring that there is absolute truth in this world that God's truth is ultimate and real and only one truth. And at the end of the day, there's fallout and chaos. If you don't recognize that fact. And we have gotten to the point where we are in contradiction of the material world we've created this world and there's been this online effort and propaganda that has said to young women, you know what? And just in small children, by the way, just because you were born a woman, you may not be. In fact, maybe you're a boy and you just don't know it. And you need to consider that. And by the way, Planned Parenthood will give you hormones, enable you to transition, and now you're a man.

A traumatic thing happened and I'm writing a book on this now, but a traumatic thing happened as a student athlete, my first year in college and 74 was the first year of the CWA allowed freshmen to play on the barstool level. So after varsity level gain, they brought me up like coupe said I ended up making all conference. First freshman ever do it. Exciting athletic first year. Go home winter break. I see I make all conference, excited three days later. I get my grades from you and him. My first semester has a freshman in college. 0.6 GPA. Wow. Oh yeah. And I do this talk when I go speak to young students and student athletes. And I called it invest in yourself. I really didn't invest in myself. I was so intertwined in the success of football that academics got away. And it wasn't that I could handle it. I saw this safe to say 'cause it's the same thing I use the kids except my next step happened as a freshman in college. I went to your junior college. Is it safe to say that you were an athlete student instead of a student athlete? Yeah, I can agree with that. I think we attempted at the even pendulum, but time some things overcome our abilities to apply ourselves appropriately. And that word is really key because I can't remember studying. I can remember reading. I can remember preparing for the exams. But it's tough I found out when the exams came and you had to recall all that stuff you actually went through because the headphones were on while you were doing it and you know when you're listening to steely Dan steely Nick, Stevie Nicks and Stevie Wonder and all them. active duty are the radar on a destroyer and we used to have this back in 67 68 69 So it's probably outdated So I can talk about the ECM gear And we could pick up other radars and radio signals and stuff on that The bad guys and the good guys and all that stuff But what we primarily used it for was we could pick up the TV audio if we were close enough to shore and so what we do is we listen to TV shows and that's where our good depends on That's great Why not Certainly certainly harmless I'm sure they would much prefer you watching their television or listening to their television Then in fact getting ready to attack them So good enough Yeah But I wanted to speak about Karen's dilemma Yes From the other day Right she has a neighbor who might have put a listening device in her house Yeah Now the one thing I was going to because I remember her saying her house is cluttered like that And it sounds like he has an old hardline hard wired phone So probably sits in one She might look and see if there's a what they used to call they call a baby monitor Of course But I don't know how far the transmit I will say go to the next go for up next door or two doors down It depends on depends on the monitor They vary but the neighbor apparently also gave her a cell phone which hopefully she's not using Yeah Now the other thing is my days is a repair guy for the phone company for Ohio bell Telephone and also Pacific telephone They took that very seriously when people called in and said that they thought there were being tapped and they would send us out and we'd have to look at house over inside out inside the phones or anything on the protector outside and that but generally what we found was telephone cables are the terminals on the poles and stuff They have multiples in different locations and that So you might have a 25 pair term on your pole and then two poles down that might monitor with some multiple of some tears out of there And we'd find what we call float or drops where maybe the installer repairman change in lines around didn't remove it off the multiples and it might be somebody it could be something like that And maybe the neighbor's son can consume up a poll in most time they're stepped or they throw a ladder up because they're only about cables are usually about 20 foot high and in a city areas and stuff And he could know what he's doing He could very put a drop on there and they could be hooked up onto her line too But if I was her I'd call her phone company And landline provider and just exactly tell them that there's believe that there's a tap he has information from the people down the street that are saying that they know what she's been saying And they should send the technician out I'm not so sure about that You know in most areas now the landline companies are doing their best to petition the PUC to stop being landline companies They're not interested in the game and they're sure not interested in the kind of help they once had And I don't know how many of their employees or CWA are not It's not what it once was but I also don't know how much her neighbor and the neighbor's son actually know So that's why I said the first thing I do is just sweep it for bugs That's easy enough to do Yeah Yeah so probably detective agencies and stuff like that But I know that she probably has a limited budget from what I could tell So I was looking for something that would be fairly inexpensive but yeah she might have to shell out a couple bucks but I would be surprised in this day and age the phone company would respond It would be nice if they did but I think those days are past tense Yeah yeah I know One town where I live that I used to do in the same field of work Florida when I was a kid Oh God Well that was GTE I'm so deeply sorry Before that there was pinellas to help Oh yes The cooperative yes I remember them Yeah Yeah And then but now it's front here And I haven't also down there And I'll go down there now He went to a cell phone from his landline with frontier and they ported his number over to his cell phone Absolutely you can port numbers That's not a problem Frontier did buy several of the GTE installations which of course GTE became Verizon We know that but they bought Coeur d'Alene which is Courtney county in Idaho And yeah they bought pinellas and they bought lots of others So frontiers is a scrapper but they're an ISP and they do a number of other things as well So they bought a Verizon and Santa Barbara California lawn folk Santa Maria Exactly The areas that the Verizon wanted to divest because again these companies don't want to be in the landline business And of course to having a hard time deciding if they want to stay landline they don't And of course the AT&T today as you well know that the AT&T we have now those initials belong to what was south southwest bell at a Texas You know that's that game It's not the AT&T I work for the real a team You're right The bell system right Yeah Yeah the real system there I remember.

"I'm ian matt in joa and of course you can bring up anything we're going to go actually right into your phone calls here in. Just a moment but coming up Here tonight new hampshire according to abc news. That's where we do. The show from is the only state of all fifty states to actually refund kovin business fines. Thousands of dollars in fines nominal are going to be refunded to new hampshire business people. I don't know what the total yeah about ten thousand dollars so they didn't hand out a lot of fines. to begin with. it sounded small. But they're all going back. We can talk about that. Of course your calls and thoughts. Welcome the last time you heard about anything of that nature. Never ever i heard about alaska but they vetoed it refund. Yeah there's a couple of other states where they were going to and it didn't work out new hampshire's the only state six zero three two eight three sixty one sixty. We're gonna go to your calls and thoughts. I though and we got gordon on the line. Gordon you're on free talk. Live calling our sip lines. hello there. Hey i've been listening to you guys talking. Quite a bit about new hampshire secession past week or so and i am absolutely astonished. Nobody has brought up the fact that there is a television show about a town in new hampshire that declares independence from the united states. What is this. It's called the republic of sarah and it sounded cw network and you could actually stream it free on the cwa. Is it any good. It's not bad i think. They uh the writers decided to sexy it up a little bit so they added in a bunch of stuff. That's not really related to this deception story but is it. Is it fiction or is this like a historical kind of fiction. It's set in the present day. Okay now and there's a corporation that gets in bed with the state government and uses eminent domain to take over a bunch of land in this town for mining operation and the residents of the town make discovery that apparently the land that they sit on was never formally claimed by the us or canada. And they've just been acting like a us territory so they declare their independence..

"Fault but oh yeah it's going to be chaos. Look at it this way to. What do you tell someone when the fed show up. Don't say anything when when a couples don't say anything. Don't say anything you don't have to say you don't actually have to say anything. Just don't you know. Just just shut up shut up. That's what we tell people to do at their situation involving law enforcement again to anyone within the reach to my voice understand this. The incident is not the law. The incident and their investigators have no subpoena power. They have nothing they can walk in the room and they can ask you a question. You are not obligated to answer that question anymore than you are to answer the question of any stranger walking up to you on the street there is nothing you have no reason to cooperate less than no reason to fear student athlete coach administrator or anyone who was questioned by the nc double eight. Can't we talk know it stops right. There needs aa. Say well you refuse to cooperate. Yeah they are. That's it that's about the worst you can charge me with and accused me of and if everyone else in the cwa membership doesn't care. Then the will to actually push that charge forward. Disappears it evaporates. This is now extensively a case of does the ncwa decide whether it exists or do you just take your little basketball tournament and keep it moving. That's it because right now. All the ncwa does with football as drug test. Yes these little self reported. Ticky tack things from schools and they drug test for some reason. I don't know why the nc double. I could just come in and be like smoking weed like that has anything to do. Like that. is under your purview to go ahead. Further extend the federal ban on marijuana usage to an amateur athletics organization. You're just being like proxy cops for fun and their threshold is crazy low lying. I think they have a threshold like lower than pilots on marijuana. They are just being haters on this. This is going to be crazy. And if it's going to be crazy like with the turnover bag and everything else that we're talking about odyssey feel like before the first game like somebody's schools that have been kind of legendary outlaws. They need to come back around and gives him props to the pioneers like. Oh jeez on this right. How many schools figuring three neat invite jaggi shero back to thank him for every for showing them to way Yeah because jackie cheryl free market pioneer. Yes in all of this i it. By the way. Never ever a hypocrite about it so wait up but never once kala perry of his time a guy who was like we will get you from point a to b. I will help you succeed at texas. Am mistake pit. Wherever i am. I'm going to help you succeed. What do you mean by success. Turn that recorder off. Then we're gonna stop you're gonna kiss conversations off the record now we're gonna talk about what success means here at texas a and m. That's what we're going to talk about right barry. Switzer became a hypocrite about it. Though he was not a hypocrite. At the time he legitimately believe that these guys deserve what it was. The day was opposed to get i. I will tell you this right now. Anytime you see one of these big time coaches like especially the ones that we think are good guys but you never hear them coming out here loud about the cheaters. Because they know the game they know what this is and they're like. Oh yeah. I guess is unfortunate. That person got caught. Ain't that something. Ooh let us people and moving. I think barry got caught two and the gap between coaches really getting paid and coaches not getting paid. So when here's about the money being thrown around he might just finally be a little bit salty about that because you might say no. I don't think the players get paid. Because i barely got paid very made. Compared to what lincoln riley is making it oklahoma right now. That is a great point. I'm not saying. I agree. But i understand being a little salty over the gap between i was making five hundred grand. And you're making five million a year. Okay hold up all. Let's get buried some of that money. Retroactively it keep in mind. I think in seventeen years. Barry switzer won three national championships. And i believe had at most one season below second-place in his confidence one season below. We just one all the time. Because he barry also points out to me. If you have five thousand dollars let me tell you they had been cutting you do. Five thousand dollar checks in the cocaine. Eighty s. i don't think you understand. How many kilos blow would have been running through facilities. Because i know how many kilos blow were running through facilities at that time right like when that was just the thing and so you go to the crib and they like going to a whole new market here. Here's a quarter key. Make you work and they did at the time to people say this is going to be chaos. Let's specify what kind of chaos you mean. Because that's everything else like these programs going to be chaos. What's the rest of the market like for everyone. That's the idea like this was ordered. Did you think things were on the up and up before. Let me let me take you in and show you the tape of what you were thinking saying athletes. Oh we gotta pay tech. They're going to pay taxes. So do i. yeah so do you. That's the other thing. Somebody's gotta pay taxes on that whole well. I think that's tell it on yourself if you're like how you gonna pay your taxes yourself focus on your own issues. Get out of these people's business you know whose job it is to do that the irs. Do you know who the. Irs generally audits people who don't have much money like student athletes. Don't worry they're coming because they can't put up a fight if you're real concern but that all of a sudden by the way you're real concerned with irs enforcement. I'm wondering about your selective interest selective enforcement here if you're one of these people who are like well. They're going to have to pay their taxes. Suddenly you're for that because look at the rest of your social media profile. You have strongly anti-tax bias. Yes what might be motivating that. What did we just invite in the door and have it sit down at the table for this conversation that we're all talking about this. Yes.

"Seek. So he stated and this is one of my sons gotta eight you tournament and we lost in the semifinals to a great is team which is nor older. That does happen. But i don't know what's going on with the au basketball. Because when i was playing these type of things. I witnessed he was playing now. He had two fights break out. Today in the gym players are fighting in the stands in front of kids. Parents are fighting stands in front of kids. That are running. Kids run around the gym playing. They got parents fighting teams getting disqualify teams sheet and all the players up. He brought to play against younger group just to win a trophy. What are we teaching your kids now. I myself have witnessed this. Take place a you in a circuit. I witnessed Peres being told that this is guaranteed for your kids by doing this. I've witnessed many things. I've witnessed parents fighting in the stands myself. A matter of fact we had a tournament over the weekend where we seem. We seem fifteen year playing in fourteen. You tournament i've seen An is is horrible to see. I've seen kids getting into arguments and fights and parents irking it on like yeah hundred interface and things of that nature. We look at what always saying. What are we teaching them. Now like an can repurpose perking goes on to speak about is. Y'all aren't teaching them to have any type of moral or no competitive spirit. Yala teaching them how to cheat an and then on top of that on the hearing kids. Kirsten kids out there on the court. I've heard this myself. I've heard kids talking to other kids on the court saying hey you deeper this acting as if they're not learning gain them so what is a teaching kids now see as a coach myself. I find it that is it is my responsibility. Not just to teach basketball but just to teach how to play the game respectful at how the show value the game. Because it's not because that is just again or is not because. I want them to get scholarship. Why a teacher. I teach this because this is basketball is a microcosm of life. If you feel comfortable she in order to get a head basketball you will cheat to get ahead and like it instill comfortable taking a shortcut out of practice in basketball. You will feel comfortable taking a shortcut in right and you feel comfortable fighting and put it in your hands on someone every disagreement instead of utilizing your words and come into greements and come into a mutual understanding as teammates should do that in light the. Au new program is not just designed to put out azkaban or buchwald player or tracks stop or soccer is designed to put out functioning adults so as the. We have to take the time to show these kids. What right looks like we have to be. Exempt cannot lie to get by in front of kids. we cannot cheat in order to earn. Will because what you will teach. Kids is to value something that you have not earned value something that you needed to obtain and that that in itself would defeat the moral value of basketball and that set. I definitely want to thank you and the work coach. I want to thank everybody for listening to the ball court hanging with me this week. I definitely had a great time speaking with you. I want you to go ahead. Listen to listen to this segment here. The comments tell me what you think is going on with a you basketball thinking what you can do to change it at me at drew. Arkansas fires coach Mike Anderson and Houston's Kelvin Sampson could be a potential candidate
"Thoughts on Arkansas in general because the AD now at Arkansas was the eighty that hired Kelvin Sampson to Houston. My opinions this I'm not sold that that Kelvin Sampson is leaving Houston for console. It can happen. But I don't think that that is as much of a sure thing as if you're a type of person that follows the coaching carousel like as the stuff at breaking your kind of a college hoops junkie. I think it's definitely on the table. But I'm at this stage. I'm not totally convinced that Samson's Lieven h down for Arkansas. The only thing that Arkansas can do to convince him is just make incredible amounts of money. Just put incredible amounts of money on the table. These SEC's schools have so much money. Now, if they wanna pay a basketball coach five million dollars a year, they can remember a few years ago, Alabama like put an open check on the table for Gregg Marshall, and we're willing to pay him whatever they needed to pay him. He just didn't want to go coach there, but it wasn't a money deal. So Arkansas can put real difference making money in front of Kelvin and maybe get him to jump, but what he has to figure out and this is reasonable minds can disagree on this. But what he has to figure out is do you wanna go be at a middle of the pack job in a power five league. Or do you wanna have one of the better jobs in a top seven leak? You know, you you you he's already shown and by the way, I think he'd win it, Arkansas. The guys wanna everywhere he's been his career is really amazing. He was obviously. You know, I it starts at Montana tech. And he went back to back league titles there then goes to Washington state alternately gets them to an inside of light tournament bounces to Oklahoma goes to one two three four five six seven eight nine straight in CWA tournaments, including a final four, then he eventually bounces to Indiana. And you know, he had Indiana twenty two and four overall eleven to in the big ten when he got fired for the NCAA violation stuff. But if he were allowed to keep that job he would have been rocking and rolling at that job for a while again. I mean, he had Eric quickly came in recruited got Eric, Gordon. And then he's got him off to an amazing start. They were ranked fifteenth in the country at the time when he got fired than Dan dockage took it over and went three and four in the final seven games as interim coach just drove it straight into the ground, but Kelvin Sampson handed him a great team. And there's no reason to think that team that program wouldn't continue to operate at high level had he stayed there.
T-Mobile says Sprint merger will boost 5G speeds by up to 6 times
"Pending merger of sprint and T mobile that subcommittees chaired by Mike Doyle of Pennsylvania. Before we get started. I want to express my condolences to congresswoman Debbie Dingle on the loss of her husband. John John was a dear friend and mentor to me and many members of this committee is passion for oversight accountability legislative process in his lifetime of public services. An example to all of us his passing is great loss door nation, the congress and this committee, which he loved so much John may you rest in peace. Jerrell now recognize himself for five minutes. Welcome to the subcommittee on communication and technologies hearing on protecting consumers and competition and examination of the T mobile sprint merger. This hearing is noteworthy because the last time a merger hearing was had before the subcommittee was almost nine years ago. And in that time there have been numerous mergers within the subcommittee's jurisdiction that have gone without a hearing. I believe it's the duty of this subcommittee to allow our members to publicly discussing debate the merits of these transactions and the question the relevant. Stakeholders the merchant before us today is between two of our country's national wireless providers T mobile and sprint these companies have acted as disrupters competitors and low cost options in the wireless. Marketplace. T Mobile's ankerium strategy has ended anti consumer practices such as data caps restrictive. Concrete contracts and much more. They have also worked hard to build a robust national network that by some accounts is the fastest in the nation. For its part sprint has been a leader. And roaming agreements for rural providers and wholesale access for prepaid and lifeline providers. Sprint has worked. Hard to bring its networks that within one percent of rises in terms of network reliability. Or so their commercial say-so consumers have also benefited from sprint positioning itself. As the best value. They are offering a plan right now where new customers can get a year of free service when they switched from another carrier, which sounds amazing. However, this hearing isn't about the benefits that both of your companies have brought to the market. It's about the extrordinary impact that you're combined company could have on the public and the marketplace if this merger goes through we will hear today from the Communication Workers of America from the world wireless association and public knowledge they claim that this merger will have. Negative impacts on low. Income consumers rural providers and jobs in the wireless industry. CWA's testimony suggests that this merger will result in up to thirty thousand job losses in the industry and a reduction in industry pay by as much as three thousand dollars for employee the rural broadbands associations testimony argues that rule consumers will pay more. They claim that sprint charges twenty times less than T mobile or other national carriers for roaming agreements, these agreements allow customers of rural carriers who build their own networks in the most rural communities they use their phones throughout the country. What guarantees rural providers have that they won't face increased cost if t mobile doesn't adopt sprints practices and public knowledge is testimony states that consumer prices will go up due to the reduction in the number of national carriers from four to three they argue that the merger. Would hit low income consumers the hardest because the number of carriers offering wholesale access would drop from three to sprint AT, and T and T mobile so access to their networks to prepaid and lifeline providers who then sell that service under their own brands what remedy to these carriers or their customers. Have if the not mobile decides it wants to get out of the wholesale business or drastically raise rates to that end the FCC found in their communications. Marketplace report that the wireless market concentration was currently at thirty one hundred h h h h I'm measures how competitive market is with a higher number. Meaning it's less competitive. The Justice Department's horizontal merger guidelines state that a market with an h H I above twenty five hundred is highly concentrated, so we really aren't starting from a great spot an increase of. Two hundred points would raise significant concerns about competition. This merger is expected to result in a market power increase of two hundred eighty points for the post played market and two thousand fourteen points for the prepaid market that would take the prepaid market from where it is right now at twenty four sixty seven which is just under the OJ's threshold to forty four eighty one a level that raises lots of red flags these kinds of numbers have historically resulted in higher prices for consumers less competition unless innovation I appreciate both executive statement that they believe that this merger will benefit consumers and result in lower prices and their commitments to an accelerated deployment of five G and the promises of expanded rural broadband, these are national objectives that are important to me and many members of this committee. However, I've seen a lot of mergers in this. Industry and others. And it's hard to think a one where consolidation didn't result in people losing their jobs prices going up and innovation being slightly. I look forward to hearing from the testimony from our two telephone companies that wish to merge in from the other panelists and with that. I yield to the ranking Member Mr ladder for five minutes favors chairman if I could just take a point of personal privilege also to express, my deepest sympathies to our friend and colleague, Debbie Dingle on the loss of chairman Dingell. And the chairman love this committee in this room is named after and I had the privilege of getting to know him in my days now. On this committee grind, I got congress. Again, he loved this committee. He loved this house. But most of all he loves his district state of Michigan in all that he did fourth. So with that. I wish the Bengals my my deepest sympathies on the loss of chairman. And again, this Sharon, thank you very much for convening. Our panel of us today into our witnesses. Thanks for much for being we appreciate your time. I look forward to hearing your expertise in different perspectives
