"Me. So keeping with the measurement theme, what metric have you found to be just like the best, the most effective measure of engagement, like over your career? I mean, is it attention? Or is it something else? Click through rate. Really? No, I'm kidding. Like what? No, no, no, I'm kidding. I'm going to go back to my default answer of, well, that depends. I don't think there is actually a single most effective measure of engagement. Unless you would say any sort of interaction with the brand, it would consider to be an effective measure of engagement. So it's certainly not click through rate. But any time we expose someone to a message or an ad. And they do something that indicates that they want to know more. So it could mean a search, right? They're exposed to a message that got to a branded search or even an unbranded search. They start to follow you on some sort of social channel. They go poke around the website and look at different things that you offer. They walk into your store, right? The next time they're actually out in the real world, and we have mechanisms for measuring that too. But some sort of virtual or physical interaction with the actual branded owned channels, I feel like as the best measure of effective engagement. I mean, I was going to say, I usually hate it depends answers, but it really does depend. No, it's the worst cop out answer, but it's also very true sometimes. I'll allow it. So how are you measuring engagement on streaming channels in particular? Just because the audiences are very fragmented in terms of their viewing behavior and there's probably second screening going on. So CTV presents its own measurement challenges that are I mean, they're not wholly unique, but they're different than just regular websites. They are, yes, and you're right, it is difficult because of a fragmentation. I would say there are, well, like I was talking about earlier. The approach here, I think, is the same, and that

'Unidentified object' downed over Lake Huron, 3rd this week
"Authorities in Michigan are reporting another aerial device has been shot down over their state. The fourth in a series of suspicious objects. Michigan congresswoman elissa slotkin says an unidentified object was shot down over Lake Huron. After authorities restricted airspace and military jets were scrambled. It follows the shootdown of another flying object over Alaska on Friday. And another Saturday over the Yukon in Canada, which was described by prime minister Justin Trudeau on CTV. It represented a reasonable threat to civilian aircraft, so I gave the order to take it down. Both are believed to be balloons, according to Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer, who was briefed over the weekend. They believed they were, yes. He tells ABC's this week with George Stephanopoulos. Intelligence analysts are reviewing what was recovered from the Chinese surveillance balloon shot down the weekend before, off the coast of South Carolina. And piecing together what all this means. "They do know and they don't know what they don't know because CTV isn't like linear or cable TV that we all grew up with, but it's also not like classic programmatic digital advertising either. But everybody knows it's this huge opportunity and so we're seeing a ton of demand to get teams upscaled fast so they can go after it. So clean rooms, CTV, and identity are the hot topics. That's right. Thank you for joining us miles and thanks to our sponsor. You have digital. And

"And go okay and the good news is that CTV bridges that gap. If you do it correctly, there's really nothing like saying when we ran this campaign, we saw X change in terms of our site traffic which translated into Y change in terms of revenue. But it requires doing it the right way. Because it's now easier for marketers to enter the CTV space, they gain access to a performance channel that spans the funnel and can provide the specific outcomes teams need to prove.

"So I also want to talk about some of the clients that you had mentioned. The publisher clients specifically in the CTV space. I guess so you mentioned a couple of big ones like Viacom CBS. I believe Fox is also on that list and to be so I guess what is specifically appealing for IAS to get access to some of those publishers that I imagine that with working with public health for 18 months ahead of the acquisition you've built some sort of relationship with the clients that they've had. But I'm curious, have you been able to work closely or more closely with some of these bigger entities or how does your relationship with those publisher clients change? So as I mentioned before, we're looking for ways innovative ways to leverage our datasets both with IS and public for the benefit of our joint customers. So if we're able to leverage the dataset to help the samsungs of the world better optimize their programmatic inventory, drive greater ROI with their programmatic inventory, I would argue create a better user experience with the users who are Tapping into the Samsung platform, it's a win win for Samsung for the marketers and for the users. Have you, I guess, been able to retain some of those larger clients, post acquisition with, I guess, like on the publisher side specifically, have you ever since then or I guess are those conversations still upcoming? Yeah, so the engagement with the video publishers remains really strong. Post acquisition. I guess like, how are you looking to extend maybe the partners that you have on the public aside? Are you focused on are you focused on, I guess, increasing the same kind of cohort of publishers that you work with? Are you looking to extend out beyond publishers themselves and more video production outside of media? I'm curious if you have diversification goals in mind when it comes to these new, this new business or the new businesses that you have acquired recently. Well, sure. You know, there are other areas of IS I could talk about where we could over time leverage some of these incredible products that we've launched for the benefit of marketers, whether they're running on CTV or not. So programmatic has been a big growth driver for IS, especially over the last two years. And a product that we launched context control actually, it's almost two years ago. March of 2020 in the height of COVID when marketers were looking for sophisticated solutions in that 24/7 COVID news cycle. Where were the brands safe brand suitable environments where they could run their brands. So since running launching context control, we have built an incredibly robust.

"Content, you'll leverage that data plus leverage public has deep programmatic CTV data on the publisher's side, you bring those datasets together and guess what? We can start solving some of those needs that we hear directly from our customers. So the one thing we're starting to take a look at is providing better transparency for marketers when they purchase programmatic CTV inventory. And again, it's the first inning of a long game, but we're just so excited, both about the acquisition and the team that came over from publica. And what it means for the entire CTV ecosystem. Right. And my co host Tim Peterson, he does a lot of reporting around some of the transparency tools and monitoring ads in the CTV space. He posted a video recently that kind of explains ad ID and things like automatic content recognition and things like that that further dive into monitoring what's being shown to a household and so you avoid those things like people not watching or seeing the same ad for a tire company a thousand times. The jingles get stuck in your head and then you're just in a loop. But I'm curious like how some of those tools, things like add ID or making sure that the repetitive nature of ads, how is that factored into this? Are there things that you still have to invest in from a text stack standpoint that you weren't already doing or is there a big initiative around this year to continue modifying some of those tools? Great question. So we can't disclose too much about our future road map, but we are looking at innovative ways to address the frequency issue that you had just described within CTV. So when we're ready to share more about how we're going to address that, I'm happy to come back on and share that with you..

"So thrilled about the acquisition, heads down, building out and integrated road map and we're already executing against that road back. Going back to your IPO and going public just, I guess for the listeners, when did that officially take place? Sure. So we took the company public at the end of June, June 30th and again, it was a huge milestone for IAS. We actually got that IPO done in about 7 months, which was a compressed, rapid timeline. And again, I'm just so incredibly proud of the team and the fact that we did have a successful IPO. It's a testament to the verification business and the need for third party verification companies, verifying the quality of digital media for the leading Fortune 500 marketers. So you also mentioned three acquisitions happened last year. Was the IPO at all tied to a special purpose acquisition company or anything like that. Was the goal of going public to raise money to do some of these acquisitions or did that just kind of follow in step? No, it was not part of respect, which you're referring to. And our first acquisition was actually a company called amino. And we acquired that company in early 2021. Got it, got it right before. Great. So I guess going back into the focus of CTV ad sales because I think that is like a really to your point, a very popular area right now. There's a lot of money being spent in that space. I'm curious, what the exact role is between the combined company of IAS and publica, when you are working with both advertisers, but then also the publishers that are using public for their CTV ad space. What's the kind of new company role in those relationships? Sure, happy to answer that. So one of our company.

"We're talking about doing that as our part in the value chain. So we're very much doing it as an SSP in partnership with our DSP partners and third party identity partners, et cetera. So that's kind of where we fit the ecosystem. And heads down through 19 and we came out what we did is we built a graph. We actually have two. We have one that is instrumented across all of our supply for an app. And we have one that is instrumented across all of our CT CTV supply. And what we've done is we've taken all that supply that comes in. We've taken in a variety of identifiers. So we've got IDs in there. We've got third party identifiers, and hash emails and hash cell phones, address, et cetera. And we've basically created an ID. We've got IDs in the graph. And then we've attached data to those IDs. And our first wave of this was really focused on attaching third party data. So think of companies like experience as an example. And we came to market in early 2020 with that really being shaped out and started talking to stakeholders on both the publisher side and also on the buy side. You know, we went to publishers and said, with our data, you can go out and say, I want to create an auto audience across my site. And we actually could give you the data to help you craft that and create a deal ID that you could then sell if you want to sell with your sales team. And we had the similar conversations on the buy side as well. What we found is we went through 2020 and started talking to more stakeholders. The app that was emerging the killer application for this was we had a lot of parties that said, we want to be able to deploy our match our first party data as close to the publishers we can to.

"You agree. I would say in speaking with marketers. View ability is considered table stakes and having metrics like time in view. How long was the ad for also as we see this dramatic shift from display to video. How marketers think about view -bility for video has changed but we're marketers are really leaning in. It's the areas. I spoke to before in terms of programmatic contextual as we're moving towards his kookiness world and moving away from audience based targeting to contextual targeting connected tv fraud detection but it. It's less about view ability. They just consider that as table steaks and the markers berry clear on what their thresholds are when it comes to view ability. Okay so you don't see a big opportunity to extend this idea around measuring in view to broader questions of ad quality impact. Correct okay i'm hearing for marketers is please go solve the live feed in social platform. You got it. Leased with connected. Tv yeah when you curious stupid question when you talk about programmatic being growth driver. How do you define programmatic The way we define programmatic is automated inventory running through. Dsp's non walled garden okay. So that's open web open web yup yup and when we when people talk about the headwinds for programmatic and user level identification. How exposed do you think. Ias is on that given that programmatic now represents a grew close to one hundred percents or ninety four percent year over year for you two and is now what forty two percent of our total revenue in growing like crazy and in context control being the biggest driver of programmatic. We just see a lot of runway with programmatic and the contextual targeting solution in particular all right super What are you working on now. Lisa what what are we going to be discussing when you come back on the podcast and twenty twenty two. Well i mean we've covered a lot lot but The other area. In addition to what i spoke to before around contextual and the live feed in social platforms connected tv figuring out the integration with public had leverage our assets and publicas assets The other area were focused on international expansion continuing to invest in emerging markets. One final and. That's keeping me busy zach. But he would be busy but one other area We are starting to explore outcomes so when you think about marketers now more than ever. There are so focused on ensuring that their digital ads are running in the highest quality media that they're being the best roi possible there's a lot of room To connect the dots with verification solutions and outcome. So we're taking a look at how we can play an impactful role with outcome. So hopefully the next time you invite muzak i'll come back in and and at you know given update on everything we just went through but also share. "Back. With lisa so At the top of the interview we chatted very briefly about social media platforms and to talk in particular. Could you develop that a little bit. what are you doing there. We were thrilled to announce at last week in our first quarterly earnings. Call that wear an early beta with tick talk and We have built a video classification technology within the live feed of tick-tock and prior to this as far as i know with social platforms. They really haven't opened up their live feeds to independent third party their affiliation companies. And it's probably one of the top three requests. I get directly for marketers. Please i ask. Please allow a brand safety and suitability solution within the live feeds of social platforms. And what's incredibly cool about this. Technology is we're able to classify content within the live feed frame by frame video image audio and text. Were doing in partnership with garm so based on the garment industry standard so for example has a defined hate speech and has standardized that definition and again in early be that it's running in several markets with the hamble of advertisers and We're seeing high demand from advertisers. Wanna participate in beta And then we're looking forward to rolling out the product Full product later this year. But what also is really compelling pool about the technology is it's portable so after tick-tock twitter's next twitter announce publicly Late last year that they also want to roll out a brand safety solution within the twitter live feed selected as someone other verification provider. And so we're also heads down working with twitter and look forward to rolling out that product later this year. Okay great it's interesting. Couldn't i can't think of a more urgent area for you to expand on to talk on twitter too much lesser extent but with tick-tock and you know big just because of the youthfulness of the audience and the wild popularity of the platform in the huge engagement you know and also just sort of the unprecedented nature of its growth It seems like there's a technology challenge in sort of building classification algorithms that learn Could you talk a little bit about the the the limits on what you can do right now and kind of the the opportunity. You have to get better. Because i'm sure. I mean that's just it's just a a bunch of i mean i'm somewhat familiar with talk But and it's there's put there are all of these memes and the content is substantially different from other social media formats So what what are the limits on what you can do there right now. And how how long do you think it'll take to develop really strong screening will. This is something that greek question so Were learning over time. Where in early beta It's something that our data science team actually started prototyping last year so they are. You started thinking about this. They participate in the hack. Our scientists and engineers love the hack on so our team already put together a prototype saying hey this is how we think classification of the.

"With frequency capping with basic tools. That we have in digital and have yet to be fully realized in the tv space so if you look at all the distribution agreements that are legacy all of the ways that you can buy inventory in the tv space Across different platforms and partners you could potentially end up real frequency issues inadvertently because we don't have the right data set. So that's why we amikam media group. Healy went all in on measurement for this q. Four and said this is our priority so as part of every peace negotiation we made measurement a temple. It was key for us to be able to understand what's happening so that we could control those types of issues for the consumer experience and we could begin. Begin to really make different decisions. Going forward to improve it will and it's also interesting to hear you say that nielsen isn't prepared for such a huge shift to see tv. I know from to thirsty. Considering nielsen is the only. Mrc accredited provider for for linear television. That's that a real. That's a real shock You know. I i don't. I don't think there's going to be much. "It was all very very sort of like eloquent and over the top drama really felt like the tv upfront kind of presentation And and you're right about maturity. I think i think one of the things that is clear is whether it's the trade desk market cap. You know just sort of like having left the orbit of being a smaller mid tier company and being like you know tens of billions of dollar kinda company Is that you know. They really seem to like grow into being the voice in kind of like a powerhouse of the of the open internet. that was really hammering. That home you know. I think they've always been really careful in hedge. Jeff was like okay like amazon. Google apple like these are like great partners but now it's really seems like they're setting up a trade desk as a much as a much stronger just like more antagonistic kind of competitor. There that they've gotten big enough a to to be able to be considered a viable competitor. And when you look at their market cap. I mean that's basically almost the market cap of the entire open internet right at least in north america looking at the ib revenue report last year. We had a hundred thirty. Three billion overall eighty three point. Seven of that was Amazon google facebook so that leaves about fifty billion Here with with some change here or there for the the open internet and so if trade best market cap is at forty. That's that's pretty much it right the whole pie so i think they've done really well to position themselves as that viable alternative to While the gardens that we've heard many companies tried to claim in the past. And so you know. I think so. Lamar aside i am actually super excited about their venture arm. Because i see that as a really interesting way for them to on the one hand side accelerate their roadmap which is now gotten pretty complex but also really placed multiple almost competing bets on the market. And that's the behavior of a true market leader. So i think that's the for me. That's probably the more exciting more long-term impactful portion of today's announcement than the actual platform even though that's exciting to low context there so so the td seven Which is a reference to the first seven million dollar seed investment that jeff green took at the trade desk got them too early profitability Their first investment isn't chalice and algorithm of custom bidding software startup. it varies nitty gritty. Programmatic i think a lot of people know adam. Heimlich the ceo. Founder there from from a senate judiciary hearing. That was very popular last year. Where you know. He really hammered. Google in particular About rules for youtube and said that google should be forced to exit the ad exchange business if if it won't compete on fair market terms So so that is an interesting investment in my mind almost like a statement much more so than whatever the whatever. The dollar number amount was You know. I think that that also was. I'm factoring that into why i think like the trade desk. Oh man this was really like them saying themselves up as as a big alternative Just a little bit of fun. Speculation like who. Who if you were in charge of that venture capital fund. What would you be thinking about for them. That's such an interesting question because you can go in so many different directions But i think there's probably three three plus one categories that that they should be thinking about here number one would be identity They do have obviously their own identity solution that they're pushing but i think as the market leader they also wanna.

If you go inside any large store around here, the majority of customers are still wearing masks. Even though we know many of them are vaccinated. Every single life is somebody somebody right and I include myself in there that my grandmother died of Covid meet Crystal Monday. She's still big on wearing a mask. Even though she's vaccinated. She knows others feel the same way for several reasons. They don't really know. Which places they can go to safely. They don't know the vaccination status of people. He's even created a website revealing what businesses in her Vancouver BC neighborhood still require masks, she tells CTV. The website went up this past weekend. By Wednesday, she had to pull the sites comment section because just as there is a vocal group still supportive of wearing a mask. There's a very vocal group that feels otherwise. And I had to pull that because people were going in and making false entries. And then, of course, putting harmful content or, you know, calling people sheep, telling them not to wear a mask. Our salon owner realizes some people are ready to ditch the face covering. She's just not comfortable taking any chances yet. I know that there will be a few people that are quite upset about it. It won't be forever. If you still feel strongly either pro or anti mask an important consideration. Perhaps everyone can agree on right now, as we make a transition is good, old fashioned capitalism. Customers can choose where they feel the most comfortable shopping and at this point there appears to be stores that cater to both sides of this ongoing conversation. Brian Calvert. Oil prices steady as coronavirus-related demand concerns weigh
"Not unknown what we had to see some sort of recovery somewhere with the oil prices but it does a very major concern now what's happening with the cut on a bias worldwide and specifically in China China is one of the biggest markets and they have a huge demand for oil on the the the light on it and they're industrial sector and their flight so the ones that they have are to hold it for the time being out of China so there are many many aspects that actually it affects the Dimond on oil and since that we are not seeing such a huge demand and everyone is going towards the cutting the production on only land all of these we definitely do not see any sort of civilization on the old parts at this level and yes it could be a going further lower and the near future but again once things have to cover them and we have a clear idea of how the virus and other aspects are being controlled I think we'll get somewhere I don't the fifties mid fifties some thoughts on your conviction call UP banks to put the supplement CTV and basically you've got the P. race so we put the I'd be on there and we put adverts in TV and it's a it's a stunning contrast between the two one single digit once double digit which one do you like more and why now let me tell you one thing I I know you like to do so when we look at certain we're not we're not the asset managers come and discuss why you were holding for what fundamentals or what the it really value and the company that you're looking at about twenty we are trading for investors we look out the news we try to begin for something about this going to impact the stock price in a positive manner both Emirates NBD and the idea how disclosures coming up or a kit they sort of came up with it with certain disclosures whether the idea with the foreign ownership limits that they've announced or that they are waiting for the approval of the Africa and investors for and ever it's M. Iranian military acknowledges it shot down Ukrainian Boeing 737 jet by mistake
"Iran admits it shot down jetliner by mistake and if your Radharani Iran's revolutionary guard on Saturday the knowledge that it accidentally shot down the Ukrainian jetliner that crashed earlier this week killing hundred seventy six people on board after the government had repeatedly denied western accusations about evidence that it was responsible the plane was shot down early Wednesday hours after Ron launched a ballistic missile attack on two military bases housing U. S. troops in Iraq in retaliation for the killing of Iraqi general because some solar many Somali by the way they should also say general and terrorist Qasem Soleimani and in an American airstrike in Baghdad no one was hurt in the attack on the U. S. basis the admission raises a host of new questions such as what Iran why Iran did not shut down its International Airport airspace what was bracing for U. S. reprisal it also undermine the credibility of information provided by senior officials who for three days had adamantly dismissed allegations of missile of a missile strike as western propaganda Roger knowledge but also alters the narrative around its confrontation of U. S. in a way that could anger the Iranian people Iran had promised harsh revenge for soul monies death but instead of killing American soldiers its forces downed a civilian plane in which most passengers were Ronnie and and none survived general Amir Ali house the day I don't know the head of the guards aerospace division said he should accept full responsibility for the shoot down an address broadcast by CTV he said that when he learned about the downing of the plane I wished I was dead that's good which I wish you were dead too I he said he he raised the possibility to his superiors that its forces shot down the plane as early as Wednesday morning because the simultaneous occurrence of the launch of the crash was suspicious whatever the guy's name is said guard forces ringing the capital had beefed up their air defenses and were at the highest level of readiness fearing that the US would retaliate he said he suggested to Roger close its airspace but no action was taken he said the airlines pilot crew had done nothing wrong but officer made the bad decision opened fire on the plane after mistaking it for a cruise missile they mistake they mistake the plane a passenger jet with almost two hundred people wanted for a missile this is how bad their defense systems are in Iran come on do well man Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei you a real piece of garbage expressed his deep sympathy to the families of the victims are called on the armed forces to pursue probable shortcomings and guilt in the painful incident Ukraine's president does Lipsky said the crash investigation should continue and the perpetrator should be brought to justice he said a Roger compensate victims' families any request an official apology through diplomatic channels pretty near line not criticized Iran's decision leave their space open despite the hostilities so what really happened is Iran screwed up what really happened is Iran backed an attack of the US embassy in Iraq right Seoul money was behind the attack it was planning more as he sat in Baghdad Iraq not in his own country or run an American contractor was killed others were maimed and injured so we retaliated by taking out solo money and his sidekick dead Iran decided we're going to retaliate as well but it's just going to sort of be kicking dirt of the American shoes they could have probably killed Americans they wanted to they didn't wisely because you kill one American you see what happens we take out who you call a top general who we call a disgusting terrorist so they retaliate for no reason because they started it ed van they mistake a commercial jetliner for a missile come on man what are you talking about here and to the left of course this country including members of Congress have been blaming president Donald Trump for the Ukrainian airliner being shot down yes members of Congress have out now called the president out as as the person responsible for Iran now with meeting that shut down the jetliner little while ago I I posted over on Twitter which is a sure simple question with the far left lose now who are blaming president Donald Trump will be no apologize for being so wrong as Iran admits that they did it one eight hundred five zero one seventy eighty one eight hundred five zero one seven zero eight zero are you one of those who blame the president for a rod shooting got a commercial jetliner are you one of those who thinks he somehow has increased the hostility between us and Iran that is that is not the case are you one who believe that are you one who walks around believing that he for some reason is starting World War three although he's never been a war hawk he's a he was not a supporter of the Iraq war he's a guy who is restrained in his response to Iraq should be going over drones instead of killing hundreds of Iranians he backed off and said you know what let's not worth killing a bunch of people let's take out one of one of their drones are you someone who actually sat back and believed to that his response was out of control and somehow incompetent or you like be a do you say to yourself you know pretty measured what he's doing could be a whole lot worse but it's pretty measured you're taking out a terrorist that we've been looking for and we've got opportunities before just to do it take him out was smart they should around we know where you are no matter where you are and we can retaliate we can respond no matter where you are that can happen and in fact we just did so the money was not some had a state he was not as Bernie Sanders says some for dignitary he's not as the left says somebody who going after him provokes war because he was a let some for a member of the parliament he was the chief terrorism strategist for Iran the terrorism that is perpetrating with the money that Obama gave them and our president taking him out was the right thing to do because Ronnie shaking in his boots right now so much so that it sent a bunch of missiles over the didn't do anything and then shot down a commercial jetliner they're so out of sorts so whoever was that shot down the jetliner it's their fault his fault shortly Iran's fault for doing it no fault of the president but I really want to know if if some of you have been to convince route trump derangement syndrome and indoctrination this president somehow went from anti war guy to let's go start wars around the world there have been some this week who suggested to me he's doing it as a diversion because this will help him get reelected he's gonna get reelected anyway dummy look who's running on the
