Scaling an Amazon Business to 8 Figures with Fernando Cruz of Marketplace Ops

"Ladies and gentlemen welcome bouts the amazing FBI? Paul Kasey placed beef. You base. Tell us alone fats. A lot of what we discussed is one of the US particularly as well. Today's guest is no exception. As phenomena crews of marketplace ops and Pixel Fi- they supercharge Amazon sales with bronze by managing their accounts amongst other things. And I'd Pixel fight as other things as well so warm. Welcome to the show. Thanks man appreciate you having me so no problem so I know that one of the things you've done creighton eight Vega Amazon brand yourself in a very short time. Is it three years that you've done something five years three as okay? So this obviously Quite the achievement. So that's the thing I want to dig into today but I want to put the angle of surviving and thriving in in difficult. Times obviously wearing unusual times right now and I think it's not a bad thing to create anyway a business. That's robust right in good times but particularly with excellent now so Tell me the basic story that obviously eight figures threes. That's that's an impressive numbers. Someone the basics. How did you arrive at that? Yeah I mean obviously? It was with the caveat that it's not during cove nineteen does a little bit easier but Yeah I mean you know. The story is my business partner and I were best friends from college. We we'd come from Tech. We had like a a background in kind of like high growth companies and a Yemi we each put in. I think a twenty grand into the business at the time and And we tried building actually like our own shop vice store for several months and we realized like Oh man this is really really hard finding customers getting into buying our website and we tried that Friday for about five months And then you know well. We decided to do what we're running out of money is. We're like okay. This was originally our passion project. And we're like okay. You know screw passion. We just need to make money because like identity Ended up having to live with your parents again and And that was kind of like a last resort in so we kinda works. Well what about this like selling stuff on Amazon were were buying everything there anyways like? Can you even do that? we found a course online like donald it And honesty we just pivoted like we didn't even a ton of time thinking about it is like this current business is not working And at the end of the day we don't want to go back and move in with our moms and so yeah I mean we. We didn't look back. I mean we were definitely a pretty lucky at Are A. We started with four products at the same time. And so that helped US learn a lot. I don't recommend that strategy For people who are starting out. I think it's probably better to go a little bit slower but you know again. We were running out of money. We need to figure stuff out and we hired a coach right in the beginning. I think that was super super helpful Just because he was already doing forty forty five grand a month But you know we're able to make so many less mistakes I we still don't get me wrong but by having that coach in your corner Hey you need to get used to giveaways You need to order more inventory. You need to do this unity. This and really helped us like learning the basics in the beginning and Yeah it was. It was Super Super Helpful. And then maybe like our six seven product was just like a home run and it basically we. We had to borrow money from family and friends just to order more inventory to keep in stock and so it was kind of Cinderella Story to begin with Where the parties that we started with those first four it okay. We discontinued most of them. We didn't reorder Tanaz. We learned a lot of lessons of niches that were too competitive But we we had some that were. We'd one that was a decent success in ended up dying a few months later but it was like okay. This really proves the model and second in that first month on Amazon. We did more than like five months on shoppers. I combined in Zora okay. This really works and so we just need to refine how we're choosing products And so we really started focusing on that area of the business because we knew that would cut I control how are futures specifically on Amazon? Yeah and then we ended up doing a little over two million that first year and then once we hit that home run product. We really started expanding That product line in in really focusing in that was kind of how we basically got to the ten million. We definitely borrowed a ton of money from family and friends. Kinda help us again like Placing those peos air shipping everything just because we couldn't Get everything done is really sloppy to be to be honest. We kinda like Stumbled our way through it But those kind of a lot of the story. Wow Okay so that does really quite the interesting story. I mean So I was going to ask you about an the capitalization Because obviously if you're editing to billion dollars in a year you're going to run out the amount of money you put into the machine to start with but I just wanted to just go out to the store. I mean very funny because he's also always I've got a new because studying ECOMMERCE leader with my friend Jason Miles. Who is a massive shoplift by fumble and is doing very very well without and help sort of Amazon base people to a pivot? Some of that business I would say shall proviso instincts have the opposite conversation where you find it really hard. What was it about the you've found so tricky with just briefly getting into. Yeah so I think Good question so at the time. And you know we're thinking very binary right and so we came from tech and so you know the tech business model is very clear right. You raise a lot of money. Needed grow faster than everyone else. Which means you spend a lot more You every round of of equity financing you kind of a you delete. Delete Yourself And hopefully at the end like you're successful and then you sell a huge amount of money you get a percentage of that and you make a ton of money and we'd seen our and we kind of had mixed feelings around that light. You know you you. You're starting business to be your own boss but by raising a venture capital you now have a boss and you hear all these stories of these. Ceo's get moved out of their own companies and so we very early on mid the distinction of life we bootstrap this company And so basically means not taking out like for US equity financing and so we were comfortable raising debt and a very specific thing but we found was. We were afraid of spending a lot of money on ads to be honest at the time that we weren't like comfortable spending on facebook or even like Amazon or this before we're on And so we're like okay. Well the best way to do it is to to build partnerships in that comes along with their background like I was the head of sales before But yet partnerships and then our with blogs so like doing seo content and stuff but because we were bootstrapped. Only a finite amount of money to start with. I think at least for us will we've found is the time that it tasted get a blog from like zero to having enough customers to generate enough. Income is too long and we were doing this. Full time That was our challenge if we kind of found a a more hybrid strategy. Which is we figured out paid ads so we could actually generate more customers a lot faster than I think. That would definitely worked on shop but it is something that we weren't really comfortable with the time to be totally honest And I think that's kind of wire shop if I was doomed from beginning it may sound like a funny question to somebody when get somebody on his massively successful in areas to US why they didn't decide whether another one I think it's important to follow the reality of somebody's story and not enough interesting In soon reality now I guess what happened in this that you you turned your cash into cash again quicker than the model that you were trying to follow was gone it in and spice the yet trying to because I think fulltime you can't wait for takeoff right Tell me about the next question. Sorry bothers buys thing. You've obviously got the success in terms of the revenue so we have to dig into the details How much money did you end up barring that first year if I may ask question yeah no? It's fine courtship so we borrowed originally? I WANNA say I bought a lot. I think it was maybe two hundred two hundred and fifty grand And so yeah. We went to like everyone that we knew that was high net worth. I think it started with like thirty from one friend. Thirty from one of our parents. I think it was. My Mom. Ed's start with sixty and it was. It was going really well in. We aware introducing more products in that. Funding is if you if your products take off you need more cash again to keep them in stock in so they kept doing really well and so we just kept Compounding our problem in so we can refinance out one of those thirty I think for like a hundred I would say in the first year. We probably raise two hundred grand in that first year.

Is Duke Done? A Season of NCAA Basketball Surprises

"Myron. I think the last time we spoke. I was at Cameron Indoor Stadium asking You what you thought about Zion Williamson. That was the last time and now Zion's gone and things haven't been as good for college basketball since he left. Myron Medcalf is a senior college basketball reporter for ESPN. Men's college basketball has been having a pretty weird season. Can you explain to us sort of the state of things and why some of the usually omnipresent contenders your dukes your? Unc's Kentucky aren't even in the top five while it's a meeting in a year like this anybody who tells you that they know exactly what's going to happen in March. They're lying because there was no one no expert. That understands kind of what's happened so far. It's just been a wild year but I think you can look at some of the things that transpired Really at the start of the season. I think the James Wiseman suspension by the answer. Aa For twelve games after being ruled ineligible. You have a Memphis team that I think had a chance to be much better if he sticks around. Lamelo ball who if he follows the traditional track and goes to a UCLA USC that changes the spotlight on those programs as well But instead you have a lot of the blue blood teams that don't have the lottery level talent that they had a year ago. Duke is still a top ten level team but they don't have anyone close To a Zaylon you'd have a team like Gonzaga that had to lottery picks last year. They got some good players. Nothing like that so the the powerhouse teams are just really good team which has closed the gap so now a San Diego State with the Malachi Flint and against double team Malachi for three huge three by malachite lend. That's a really good team. Competing for number one see the Dayton with an ob top suddenly was one of the best teams in America. And I think it's because you just don't have the same concentration of talent we're accustomed to seeing with your Kentucky's in Dukes. Then you'RE K. Use Marin what is it like covering a season like this where there are really clear favorites and no one seems to have any idea. What's going on this year? You just don't really know who to chase like. You don't know who to say okay. That's the team to watch. Because they're really good. It just feels like a pretty fragile college basketball scene which is great for the tournament for everything. We didn't have in college basketball this year in terms of no established kind of powerhouse team. I think we're going to see the benefits of it. Come into double A. Tournament. Time when we could have one of the craziest craziest. March madness is we've ever had so. Let's talk about Duke. Quit even when dukes not great? We're still going to talk about Dick. Because it's really interesting. Myron how much struggled on Saturday they lost to Virginia Virginia wins. That look the three point line. Just couldn't connect before that game. They were ranked seventh. But I imagine they could go down even further now right. Yeah I mean this is a team that I think will will fall in the rankings. Duke has run into some teams who put on their Superman capes in the last couple of games. And that's change things you have. Nc State which made sixty one percent of its threes and that loss A week ago wake forest mixed fifty four percent of its threes. These things those teams had done before they phase Duke and Virginia really as just a team on the rise So I think duke got caught in kind of a weird gauntlet there but trae Jones has been sort of their closer whereas a year ago you could go to RJ bear. You could go to Cam Reddish you could go on. And now they're a bit more one dimensional They're much closer to what you see. Maybe in a typical season where they're right there with Louisville and Florida state and Virginia and the other teams at the top of the ACC. But they don't have a guy who's GonNa carry them to the top of the League and just help them separate. That's just not enough talent in college basketball for really any team to do that. But especially in the league like the Agency. So you're in Kansas right now in Kansas. The number one team. You were there to watch them. Play Kansas State and it was a right because these two teams Fighting literally fighting back in January Shit and now the benches inc just unnecessary. That's not good. This is Paul. This is bad this is but on Saturday night myron. They shook hands before the tip off in. Kansas came away with the victory. What did you make of the number team in their performance? Well I I'm just glad nobody fought again because that that would have been bad Glad to have that moment before the game I will say. I've never been to a regular basketball game outside of the NCAA tournament that had as much security as that game. Had I mean they were everywhere about? I'm glad there was an incident. I I think Kansas is sort of the perfect team in a year like this. Do they have a lottery pick? No but they've got this really balanced group of guys who are pretty good offensively. They've been pretty efficient team and they got two guys who win they're together. They're hard to stop. It's Dotson In Gaza Buki who when they're on the floor together. Kansas made about sixty percent of his shots inside the art. Their opponents have made about forty one percent of their shots inside the three point line. That's the story right there when those two guys are together. Kansas is certainly the best team in America. But you also look at them and go. Are they one bad night from Abu? Koa from struggling. He was hurt part of the game on Saturday against the bad Kansas state team boss feeds it in bounced past as a group. Six to shoot you back down spits travels this is the shot ultimately but he rolled his ankle. Oh this is good has approved. He is clutching his right foot so Kansas is good. But like a lot of teams there. One bad moment badge stretch away from being right there with everybody else. Well now. It seems like Kansas is going to run away with the big twelve after Baylor who was ranked number two going into the weekend got upset by. Tcu How bad was this for Baylor? It's always interesting right. Like Baylor won every game but one for like two months straight and now all of a sudden last week I think a lot of people are panicking and that happens to a team. Like Baylor which doesn't have the brand recognition of Duke or Kentucky or a Kansas. So in hard times. I think we may be overemphasized Some of their struggles. I think you obviously don't want to continue losing and losing to a team like Tcu is not good For them but this is a team that again played a tissue team that did things that they haven't done in the past made forty five percent of the threes on Saturday against Baylor. They made thirty three percent of their shots from three point. Line before that so that can be more of an anomaly. I think Baylor overall though is one of the best defensive teams in America made the best defensive team not named Kansas. So that's GONNA keep them in every game that they play well one team. That's right up there with Kansas and Baylor is Gonzaga perennial contenders They did lose to. Byu about a week ago but they're still considered favorites to win the WCTC. How good is this Gonzaga team? I think they're really really good me now like I think they're amazing. I just think this is a year where because everyone has been sort of even you get one loss and all of a sudden. Gonzaga gets the whole. You haven't played anybody. And why are you losing you know in the West Coast Conference and I think that's unfair? Byu was a really good team like Byu's go into selection Sunday with maybe a five or six seed. Maybe even better so. There's nothing wrong with losing a road game in that environment to a good team. They have the number one offense in America a flea Petra. Sav is one of the best young players Indian tire country. We would know what mark few the head coach can do. And they've got two losses all year. I think that is one of the best teams in America and I think will prove it wants double a. Tournament starts so most of the rankings have some combination of Kansas Baylor in Gonzaga in the top. Three we'll see how this weekend changes that but after that myron gets pretty interesting. I'm you've got Dayton San Diego state. Did you see that coming up before the season began out like I wish I could lie and say I did? I wish I could be that dude. It was like yeah. I called San Diego State back in October in Dayton. But I didn't I mean like ob top and a Dayton is suddenly this lottery pig. And I don't think anybody saw that Common Dayton on Friday against Davidson Mia. Think about this number. They may ninety six percent of their shots inside the three point. Line Ninety six percent like I don't care if you're playing a high school junior Varsity Team. That's really difficult to do in Dayton. Did that and not only did they do it. They've been doing it Throughout the season just really inefficient offensive team in San Diego State. A team that lost its first game about a week and a half ago. The they've been role as well in their line of people who will say San Diego State doesn't play the competition that the other top teams have faced in college basketball. That's not true. They beat the. Byu Team that just beacons Aga- they beat Creighton. Which I think is the surprise of college basketball naked win at all by thirty one points and they beat Iowa another solid team another Aa tournament team by ten points so the best teams that were thrown at San Diego State. They won those games now. They did lose the UNLV Week ago but beyond that there have been a really really good team and I think in a year like this again. You're not going to run into a team with two lottery. Picks it feels like they can make Iran as well both San Diego state ending

"Then the blue bloods are six to ten in terms of the rankings Florida state Duke Maryland Kentucky Louisville Craig is in there ten in one poll Meryl Levin another poll and then you start to get into the meat of these teams in the big east and the big ten with Villanova Seton hall Penn state you throw all burn in there then you get a west coast team in Oregon in terms of rankings then you're back to the big ten for Iowa many got Huggy bear in their West Virginia and and I just keep going down down down the list and what was I could see West Virginia going to the final four Bob Huggins teams are a lot like god to me what Bob Huggins does a West Virginia or at least tries to is what is tries to do at Michigan state T. Jim toff Rodham hard may come play tough I mean you got him in Morgantown West Virginia if you've ever been in Morgantown West Virginia once one of the nicer dumps in America but be that as it may there's not a lot to do down there so your car you try to do you work on your game and you get top there near here in the cold in your playing defense my point in bringing this up is you look at the big east's top to bottom and the big ten top to bottom they're probably the two best teams in college basketball and you can look at Villanova and Seton hall is a team that can definitely get to the final four or again you know I'm kind of wishy washy about a little bit I need a little more Intel on them to really feel good about thinkin they they can make a deep run in the tournament we have a really talented teams this year in college basketball but I don't think we have the proverbial bird team you look at the top ten it's pretty balanced and the NC double a tournament is still about the match ups well when you just look at these teams how many jump out to you to be able to win the national championship and although in filling out a bracket then I like to know a couple of teams then I'm gonna move on right away yeah I know I'm gonna have some tough decisions this year in filling out my bracket if let's say Florida state matches up against Creighton or if Villanova goes against San Diego state where you give me a little Dayton against Maryland then do can can scan Zacha yeah you start to break those matchups down and it's like okay though those aren't so easy to be able to

How to Live a Regret-Free Life With Entrepreneur David Wood

"As mentioned in the intro fire nation wouldn't be talking about how to live a regret free life in Davis WanNA start right off by asking you this question do we actually tell the truth to each other not when it really matters I think and I love the way we started this this conversation because that we tend to want to present the shiny stuff to people we want people like us and we want to present the shiny stuff and there are things about each us that we don't really want to let out to the light and I think that's sad because it leads to disconnection and at least two US judging acids and then we don't tell the full truth and that's not wrong it just doesn't lead the connection that I think we're really want so I'm an advocate I'm an evangelist for firstly identifying the things about ourselves that we're not fully embracing or accepting a loving and then step by step sharing more that with the world so that it can it can come to the light of day and we can actually Lebie seen everything that we are and I'm talking about powerful CEO's and Roxas and everybody not just talking about people who feel some kind of struggle on talking about everybody let's tell more the truth because at the end of the tunnel is that deep connection I say we're all really craving now what's a tactic or a strategy that you may be shared with fire nation where we can maybe dip our toe into this process we can maybe take the first step in being more truthful with each other thank you I'm a practical guy so I love that question start to notice arena dialogue this the the mind is always going and if you can notice something that's going on you that you haven't shared with the person you're conversation away so it could be a boardroom it could be hey I notice the energy just just dipped it seems to me design anyone else feel that starts to name what's happening or hey I notice I'm not really on fire today I just want to let you guys know the I didn't sleep that well I'm here I'm ready to go but if you notice there's a drop in the energy that's what's going on stotts daughters what's happening that's not being named and just name it so you can be more in relation ship with whoever you're communicating by now I love that specific example you gave about how I'm just not feeling on fire today because obviously a it's super on brand for entrepreneurs on fire but be actual personal experience and pat where listen today is my Super Bowl David you are one of nine interviews I'm doing for entrepreneurs on fire today I am doing all of the money once interviews today and why do I do that because I know that I can wake up this morning get myself in state in be on fire all day today I but I couldn't wake up nine consecutive days in a row in insured that was GonNa Happen is I'm going to have a down day or day don't feel like super excited on fire or whatever however you want to say it's but I know I can do that for one day so I have a lot of people like John like you always have much energy you're always like so excited and I love just being honest with them and truthful and saying that's not the case like you're seeing a glimpse of my life you're seeing forty-five minutes or thirty minutes or an hour of my day and like yes I can be on fire for that but believe me after that I go out and lay in my hammock and is zone out or I read or I go for a walk right by myself and that honesty fire nation it will free you being true will free you now one thing that you say David do love is that small secrets our big problems what do you mean by that yeah well let's talk about the cost of not being truthful let's suppose you don it just name that you're not having an on die and the other person feels they walk away from that interaction John and that you know I didn't really enjoy that and maybe then tell someone else back that guy's just not really switched on you shouldn't do creighton alliance can have no Baugh yeah it can snowball so like I just had someone change a meeting coming with this nonprofit some training people in inmates in prison to be authentic and to tell the truth more and she just changed change the meeting and ah I was frustrated because we'd already had always back and forth creating the meeting now if I didn't name that I like how often were we just gloss over that the Dow damage changing around this pressing me also often what I decided to do was name it because maybe next week she'll change a meeting again thinking it's not him but he's may frustrating so I created a little video and I said to her look I want you know you've got a good reason changing it understand I just want you to know there's a cost for me to doing it I want you to know the impact so now I got to be self expressed with her I feel more related with her perhaps she can feel more related with me if she's got some she doesn't WanNa hit hit that or she's got frustration with going on in her life she can now share it with me and then we can be more connected and more related if you don't do it those small secrets those small things the slow frustrations can grow and grow and grow and I just think at the end of the day if we're not we're missing out on the connection and we're missing out on results I am not just the touchy feely Guy Right I am that I am the touch you know like get in touch with our emotions but there's a reason for it I want you to feel more connected and I want you to have better results I want you all to be great leaders and that happens when you a more connected more related fire nation was holding you back from living your truth answer you are holding yourself back from living your truth you have the power to be honest to not have secrets to big problems so stop hold on yourself back from living your truth I'll be honest people tell me all the time like John you kind of blunt like you say it like it is and I love when people say that because like damn right I say like it is because I'm GonNa be honest with you and if that for whatever reason repels you or pushes you away or whatever that might be guess what we probably shouldn't be hanging out with each other then 'cause I'm being on hint I don't need to hang out with every single person in this world and I can't so let me attract the people who I should attracting and let me repel the people I should be repelling for businesses weren't true David Like I love this phrase love me or hate me because there's no money in the middle and it's true true true that that is a true statement but let's even maybe take it to another level like love me or hate me because there's no truth in the middle oh like there's truth in the loving the hating part of it but like that's what we find is being ourselves and now I wanNA talk about daring and this is something that you are really powerful of when it comes to sharing how playing safe can actually be the most dangerous thing that we can do as Human beings expound upon that my background is in risk management I used to be a consulting actuary to Fortune one hundred companies in New York and so I think in terms of risk and I think doc world trying to manage risk in life and we think our look maybe a want share on this podcast that I've had depression anxiety because then people go all that guy doesn't have together and I'm not gonNa work work with him right that's the risk oh maybe I'm a single guy so maybe join us that woman out because I'll feel rejection or maybe I want gone to that speech because it's I it might not go well and and I'm GonNa people are GonNA think terrible on stage whatever it is we're trying to manage those risks and that's valid that's fine but I think many people and not looking at the other side of that risk what about the risk that you don't do it and that you die regretting it what about if you don't go for that new venture or you don't quit your job in GonNa get the job doing something you love or if you don't go to the behind Kozinski died because you've wanted to twenty years what if you actually die a week from now or six weeks from now or sixty years from now with out having done that how `bout that risk that's why I think playing safe is one of the most dangerous things you can do because your Chris King dying with regret out I don't want that for

"But have more time to be a dad. So that's my my five year plan is to move into something like that. And I'm doing more writing as well have Cagney now, which is great. And after we get into Broadway. It will go into the world and other people will do it and that'll be that'll be wonderful. And I wanna create right more things like that. So those are the those are the next step for me. Also. All right. Let's get tagged the on Broadway. That would be so cool last thing I'm gonna hit you with here. Robert, I love to ask all the that. I get on the podcast what type of advice? Do you have that new dad or for that about to be father who's out there listening? Yeah. Gosh, that's a whole. We could talk for these. Same outta time about that stuff. I guess well, one of the things is and I'm into it. Now, my kids when things and you can say to yourself to the dad is it a big problem or a little problem? I think that is what I would say just remember that question. 'cause I ask you when something seems very dramatic. See my five or seven year old like the world is coming to an end. And there's a meltdown happening. I say now I understand you're set about that is a big problem little problem, really. And you know, the same thing you can say to yourself when you have a new child or your belt to have a child, and you're stressed about things or you know, and you don't have don't feel prepared or whatever. Or or something happens in your you say to yourself is it a big problem? Little problem. Ninety percent of the time ninety five percents time. The answer is in the big picture. It's a little problem. So it's not worth the stress rings IT that you might give it you say, hey. Is this mind get you? It's a little problem. There are big problems, of course, and health issues that you have to dress in a major way. But, but generally, there's a lot of things that you think in the moment our big problem. But if you step back and say is this a big problem or a little problem? The answers often it's a little problem. It might help you move through it a little more easily. Great advice. This has been a lot of fun. Robert Creighton, I have to say, thank you so much. Give me a few minutes of your time. And I have to tell you that not only do I thank you my mother. Thanks, you my father. Thank you, my sister. Thanks you. And I thank you. I love it, man. I love it. And and when we get to Broadway, I want you. They're opening night. Brother. Come on. No doubt. I will definitely be there. I pray that you do make it happen. I would love nothing. More than the bring my family to New York City to watch Cagney on Broadway. So best of luck to you with that. Good stuff. All right. I'm going to wrap things up and just a minute here. Back to wrap things up here on first place. Fatherhood. I gotta give a special. Thank you. Once again to Robert Creighton giving me a few minutes of his time here. I hope you guys enjoyed that as much as I did. Please get over to Twitter guys draw me a DM on Instagram. "Well, said all right. I have to be honest with you here. The first time I saw the coming attraction for the movie frozen. I thought it was going to be a big flop. It turned out to be one of the highest grossing Disney movies of all time the highest grossing Disney movie, heist grossing animated movie of all time. Yeah. That's why I'm not a movie critic, what is it like for your kids? Robert. I mean, it's got to be exciting for the kids to have their father playing frozen. But how do they feel about you being the villain and have they seen the play? And do they give you any kind of criticism about your? Formats. Oh, that's funny. Yeah. They've seen it four times. We were we were out of town in Denver for a few months. Didn't the show and played it in Denver before we moved to Broadway, and actually my wife resigned from her job. She's a great job in advertising your resign that June. So she could come out. We didn't wanna be apart that long so they came out, and it was wonderful. They got to know the cast, and they came to the show several times out there. And then we got to New York they were there for the very first night the very first preview, and they and then they came on Father's Day last, June, which was great. So they've only seen it twice in New York. They wanna come all the time. But I said you can either you could come every night, and we live in a cardboard box, and, you know, eat Rama noodles or you can come once in a while. And we can actually have a home living 'cause we don't get caught for the show and Broadway expensive. But they yeah. They I think they. Love that. I'm in it. They're getting old enough. Now, where my son will say that you have to go to work tonight. Or, you know, sometimes you get a different jobs. You're not gone at night, you know, because I five nights a week. I'm not here putting them to bed. So I'm here Sunday and Monday nights, we have a Sunday matinee and my weekend is sort of Sunday night Monday. And then I go back toward Tuesday night, but side from that those moments they understand that. That's what I do enough my schedule, and we car about a lot of other time. But I think they love it. I'm in it. They they their friends at school some of them have seen it. And so the, you know, the moms get very excited about it and stuff like that. It's an they get they get a kick out of that. But yeah, they they would go every night. See if they could they they enjoy it. And I like taking them to the fear. Not when they're seeing the show, but just backstage and stuff and getting no actors are a lot of fun. So they. Run around occasionally to the dressing room and say hi to people stuff like that. And they that that's a really fun thing to be able to expose into. Yeah. So cool. Robert. All right. Many parents have kids out there who are aspiring actors what type of advice. Do you have in the parents of kids out there who are really trying to make it to the great white way? Yeah. It's do you know, it's a har-. It's not an easy road. Because it's like sports, you know. I mean, there's so many kids dream of being a professional athlete or professional actor on Broadway and very very small percentage. Get to make a living at it. So it's it is hard road. But if that's your passionate, that's what you really want. My advice would be to first of all building a big foundation of training..

"With the head coach of the Saint Louis blues Craig Gruber here on the boardwalk, hardwood, floors coaches show and first off to a place that you've played once again kind of like it. What was it like to play? Here's the Washington capitol. Yeah. I really enjoyed it here. What I what I was playing until the end it really didn't become a real big hockey town so much, but you know, definitely great hockey town now thanks to Ovechkin coming in here in building a rink downtown. And all that I was at the end of it. I was at the end here we're not rink was built played only one season in the rink. But enjoyed my time heroes about eight or nine seasons here as a player second meeting in short order between the blues and the Washington Capitals. What led to the success on home ice against these guys? Well, I think that we are titan are checking we didn't give them a lot of room out there to get going, and we capitalize on our chances. I thought we did a good job the offense zone of Creighton chances shooting pucks that just all the little things. We did a real good job in our penalty kill which is obviously very important. And we got a power play goal source special. Teams are good real good tonight to how is the challenge any different with them getting last changed now in their building. Well, this it's it's a challenge. We're going to have you know, when you're out there, again, some of these guys are out the right guys all the time. You got to do the job. Knows who you're out there against you. Gotta be good with the puck. And you got check. What are you doing goal tonight? Allen. Got back to back games. So you know, we're gonna have to use both from here. And he's really had some terrific road games in recent times has needs. And he you know,.

"I'm Mark minner. Now are PNC Bank brigade coaches conversation coach getting set to take on the Seton Hall pirates. First of a three game road trip for the BULLDOGS in an impressive victory against the Creighton Bluejays on Saturday when you look back at that game team came out set the tone from the beginning. Creighton never got the lead in the game made an adjustment in the starting lineup. But it seemed like everybody whether they were in the starting lineup are off the bench responded. Well, yeah, now is a great team effort. And I think that was the thing that really stood out. You know after the game was everybody that was in about a uniform at a positive contribution, in some way, shape or form. And so as you go down this journey season. That's what you're trying to do is just play your best basketball. When you look at the match up tonight against the Seton Hall pirates team that has a new look he does seniors of Dongguan, oh and Carrington and Rodriguez, and so no go no longer part, but miles Powell a huge piece of their equation. In this year. He he's you know, I made unbelievable strides as a complete player everybody. He had a reputation as a suitor you had to get to him. But last year, you know, he's a fourth or fifth option with those guys. But now he's definitely number one option on the list, but they've got a ton of other guys to complimenting with McKnight stepping in as a transfer miles kills taken a job and notorious Thompson the transfer off the bench. And so it'll be a challenge coming off of a loss. Asom the mentality has to be right heading into this one one of those guys that you saw great performance season, high twenty eight from Kamar Baldwin, and that's one of those guys that when you go to these road atmospheres galley Kamara first team selection can be a big piece of success. Well as been there, you know, as as third go round in the big east. And so it's not foreign to to Kamar is not foreign to Henry and shot a navy guys that have been around and been on these venues before terms of biggies row games and now. Yeah, you just got come up with the same level of intensity and focus. You know that we had last game, and and understanding is forty minute games. And so they're they're probably gonna throw a punch and we've got to be ready to punch back. Then you gotta keep your keep your focus throughout the course of forty minutes. And just real quick you mentioned Nate Fowler and came off the bench and a couple of big shots in that game. And he loved to see that Jorgensen and Fowler coming off the bench and really just adding and and really adding to the energy inside the building and really made it difficult. Native specially for Creighton to get into rhythm on the perimeter with your team switching. Yeah. I thought you know, Joey and Henry handled it well, and and in terms of being in the starting lineup and getting off goodness off to a good start the pollen and pollinate and Jordan Christian off the bench came in. And and and definitely capita the level or even raise the level at times when they checked into the game. And so we'll need all of them tonight. It'll be a tough task but will need everybody to step up to the challenge. Thanks a lot. That's Lavalle Jordan head coach for the Butler BULLDOGS. They get sent to take on the Seton Hall pirates here in Newark, New Jersey this evening that was her PNC Bank. Coach's corner conversation. I don't think Bill was going to lose a game at home. But I tell you what they're going to be more than beatable on the row. And this Marquette team is ranked in the top twenty. I think they are very beatable as well Xavier probably played their worst game offense of the year in the first half yet. They find themselves only down nine points. They had not made it three in the first half. If they cut shoot the ball halfway decent. This could be anybody's ballgame. "If the boiler makers are able to negate some of what we said on the podcast here and upset the wolverines that we don't think that's going to happen. But I'm not putting out of the realm of possibility Nevada, you mentioned just intriguing there and the organ, Houston, I think Houston's going to win that game. And if Houston wins that game and then Aaron wins at uconn. We might have just a situation where we look like. Oh, okay. I guess Arizona's the best team in the Pac twelve again, even though they were picked fourth in the preseason. And almost no one thought that team would be the best in that league better. Not let Bobby Hurley you say that that's also fair Zona state's been plenty good. I'm not I'm not going to completely dismiss the sun devils at this point. They do have a claim to that. And they are certainly in the mix. Keep an eye on Gonzaga. At creighton. Creighton is a top thirty team. I've got him in the top twenty five and one is Gonzaga's first true road game and Omaha is an amazing basketball. Like for people who've never been to Creighton game at Creighton. Like, it is it is excellent. And I imagine when you got the top ranked Gonzaga BULLDOGS coming in. It'll be jam packed. I don't know what the capacity is seventeen eighteen nineteen, but it's big. And it'll it'll be it'll be field. And so Kim palm projects that as just to Gonzaga eighty three eighty win. So the point spread on that probably going to be around three or four. We're not talking about. You know, EAS easy weekend for zag. Even if Creighton right now, I don't believe is is ranked in the in the people. So to me, that's the one that is most interesting zagged Creighton because we're watching the team the only team to beat the team ranked number one right now in a in a real tough situation in Omaha Creighton team that seems to be better than than what most people don't want. It would be in the preseason and forgives aga-. I mean, I love the way Mark few schedules. When he knows he's going to have a great team. Really anyway. But when he knows he's going to have a great team like why not just feel up your nonleague schedule with monster after monster? Because once they get to January and they're playing games. It's just going to be. They won't even be contested very often. So there at Creighton this weekend, then you get home game against Washington on Wednesday. Then you get Tennessee on a neutral next Sunday and in the following Saturday. It's at North Carolina. So Mark few undeniably put together a schedule. It's going to give Gonzaga chance to get a number one seed in the incident tournament, regardless of how easy they might have it in the WCC. Of course, you got to go win the games. But so far so good seven. Oh with that win over Duke. And also a neutral court win over era Zona shots to Devon down to Chester South Carolina, Terry MFN Teagle he's alleged. Here we go. Welcome to our advice. Comedy podcast, where we give you advice in comedy. My name is Stephan. Also podcast has my name's Anthony. May was crying. Anyway, welcome to hyperbole. You have Stephan and Anthony here to provide you pump you full of Sweden advice and started and chock-full laughs for you to munch on during our time together that we appreciate so much. I know that we got pretty raunchy last episode was, so we're going to try and we got filthy and we're gonna squeak ourselves, clean. So we're going to, we're going to clean off that. What are we gonna diarrhea de could. We're gonna make it clean. Lean squeaky. Woman, it'll be cleaner. Also. I don't know if anybody else's excited as I am, but bachelor in paradise started. So on the bachelor impaired, I'm really excited. Yeah, they have. They have some really interesting folks from the past seasons. I think they put Hillary Clinton in there. I'm Hillary Clinton. Autumn put even hawking, would you sorry? I mean, she also talks a robot modulators. That's fair. Bernie Sanders is also on there. So hopefully hopefully he does not feel the burn because it is a very high temperature out there in Puerto Vallarta wherever they are, and they also put DJ Calot on there. I know he is actually heavily married with child, but. He's out there for another one. Does he really there? No, he's not. I dunno DJ. He is quite. They break up and he's just like another Lauren paradise. Another one. So I just wanna share some some lovely lovely words, some rumbling. Some roughly words that I've heard and phrases that I've heard about paradise one, bachelor in paradise. Bachelor from paradise. Okay. I don't know. I don't know the proper prepositions, but one of the things that I heard from one bro to another is Chris is going to receive Connors, sloppy, Saguntum. News. I think is a work of art. Lobby Saguntum. Just think about that for a second, let it marinate, the hurts my soul and your brain. But now for too long because you might want to take the next sharp object closest to. Yeah, you might have an aneurysm marination. Yeah. So they're sloppy pseudoscience, which I have now incorporating into my vocabulary. Never say that. And. Some Bros. we're having some drama and one of them said, all right, guys. Let's all dress. The white elephant in the room. You all got gifts and didn't tell me. He'd sons adventures. You're saying that Suzy had CONNER, but CONNER had Melissa. No, that's the secret Santa. What's the white elephant? That's the one where you put the gifts in the middle and you. Steel. Oh, no, that's my fucking decorative fountain Britney. Fucking maybe I misheard maybe it was. Maybe they said, let's address the secret Santa. Okay, much more relevant phrase. Yes, exactly. But we're really excited because we just want everybody to find love. That's the purpose of this podcast is for sloppy. So if you if you sloppy Gouda can also be a way of finding love. It's like finding a half eaten cheeseburger in a trash can. It's still good, edible, delicious. So horrible compare. So I don't know if if everybody has gotten the the, what is the under the undertone of the podcast or the clear message of we just want you to find love, which is why we launched this comedy advice podcast, but that's what we want. So as we as we keep this in mind, we're going to get into the really, really the sustenance of this pilot.

"Right so you're giving them choice in in some content what they're learning how they're demonstrating their understanding but you're really structuring it basically the structure that i've used in a lot of teachers have used his start with introducing the project and when you introduce the project you really want kids to understand why it's why there's importance of them having some choice right because i think a lot of times they need to understand hey why did google have this time how did the posted no get invented while three m's fifteen percent time right a lot of time she younger kids we'll show them canes arcade the video of kid creighton on our cades dad's autoshop so really kinda having that understanding and then sharing the project which is they get to choose something that they wanna learn but they also have to create something based on that learning right so there's the passion piece of what they're interested in about but then there's the purpose of what they're make mccain and then we start once they choose that we we kinda basically have the kids take all their ideas of what they wanna create a make learn about we haven't put it in like a march madness bracket and this is a big key because a lot of times when we were first doing it we didn't do that bracket kids just have one idea like i want to do this and then they wouldn't run that past ended the other ideas that they potentially can have and they would want to change in like a week or two so now they're all their ideas out there really navigating those ideas they come down to one that they really care about and then it's time for them to shark tank pitch in the shark tank pitch they have just one minute and they pitched the entire class just four slides four things number one what they're gonna learn what they're gonna make number two why they're gonna learn it why they're gonna make it number three how they're gonna learn to make this a number four what success would look like to that from that stage now they're going into the real kind of research learning rights now they're not just researching online or reading stuff they're watching videos they're talking to real people they're finding mentors right that they.

"And that was my concern with god of war especially when i came out of the preview veterans like the first boss fight is the best superhero fighting game i said it and i believe it but i was totally prepared for the cracking whip and backlash of your fucking creighton like thank god l is one of the few people who's popped up that i've seen him in like i'm not feeling this game like everybody else has been like hoesch at that fight was what you said it was holy shit this is amazing you made it out to be but for me as a commentator as a critic whatever you wanna say like it's always my fears that i'm going to ruin it because i it's happened to me with so many other mediums even i don't think your commentary is going to ruin the experience that for somebody because if they don't if they come in with explications that are high for a game is being scored well it's just possible that that game is just never going to jive with them whether good re v review scores are didn't you know i look at the way that i felt about the legend of zelda breath at the wild widely reviewed as ten as nine very high scores really across the board one of the highest metacritic games like of all time but it just wasn't a game that was a game of the year for me doesn't mean it was a bad game just meant that like i didn't think of it as a ten because it wasn't didn't speak to me that way and there's nothing wrong with that and it's just pointing that you know the elza doesn't seek god of war the way that we do but i don't think that our review scores had anything to do without i think it's just it either connects with you as a player or doesn't sure.

"Creighton team the first year we're gonna big east with doug mcdermott that lit us up twice just like this that's why i say when i say i've been on the other side of this trust me in our league i have and creighton with doug mcdermott and gentleman by the name of raggi they lit us up what worse than this twice it's official coach i've seen you play now three times the last two years in a dome and elevated floor and the final four situation you've lifted up three straight times is there a secret no not really hoops just that i think in onen we played in ford field and we didn't get a practice it was the first year they put the field does court in the middle of the field and we didn't get a practice on thursday and when we came to houston they gave us a close practice on thursday and then the open practice on friday and we had thursday friday saturday shooting here and i think it makes a difference it they makes a big difference by saturday you feel comfortable j rey talked about being on the other end of it that was bill self on this night it was a it was a game that that that we knew we'd have to play well and we we would we knew that they would probably have to miss some decent looks but they got anything they wanted early and and then of course they made the most of it dot com down i thought i thought his is good as everybody was i thought spelman pascal kind of set the tone because you know doke was on spelman theory if he could kind of maybe back off of anybody it may be pascale even though he's more than capable of making omen end but i thought they were great that's as good a team as we played against that i can remember and and we didn't we didn't we didn't play very well obviously when we got spread out and our game plan went to crap on how we're going to guard certain actions and we got caught in between and that's the worst thing you can do defense leaves be caught in between so so credit to them the superior team and they were superior obviously handle this today and they'd be hard for anybody to deal with it they shoot.
