"And in his time there, you know, he's been a good player. You know, I like the first pick, you know, the first Pixar Valuable, but when you get down to a picks, 23 or 56 and seven Man. You still see guys that are showing up. I'll give you an example. Dalvin Cook in 2017 was their first pick in the NFL draft, which was in the second round that year. Dalvin Cook played. I mean, since since then Dalvin Cook is played. 43 games. The second, the third round pick Hat F lean The center has played in 50 games. Okay. Jalil Johnson. Has played in 53 games. Okay, that is the fourth round pick. You start. You see what I'm saying? So just drafted that he developed they developed? No, no, no, Not that they not only did they not just draft and developed, they played them. They played him. So the team that you see out there is a team that is all of guys. I'm looking at 2018 Daniel Carlson, The kicker There is you know, it was drafted in the fifth round is playing 44 games, but right there above him. The tight end Tyler Conklin was drafted in the fifth round. He's played 47 games. That's 47 games, and the guy was drafted in 2018 that also tells you they're not missing a lot in the draft picks is that's exactly what it means. It's exactly exactly what it means right on the other side will get to your top training stories. It's big yellow Jo Jo, this is K away news, radio traffic.

A crush of early voters makes for long waits in New York City

"To vote in New York this weekend, Some lines were blocks long. One of our newsroom employees and West Hempstead estimated the lines trust a half of mile instead of some photographs, and it was a long long line. Martha Diamond is on the story. This morning. She's live from Lincoln Center had to see if this is normal or is Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez suggests voter suppression, Marla Good morning. Good morning, Wayne from the Barkley Center in Brooklyn to Madison Square Garden to here at Lincoln Center. Voters turn out on mass to make their voices heard, including, as you mentioned AOC, who brought her pug to keep her company is she waited 90 minutes to vote in the Bronx. There is no place in the United States of America, where 234 hour waits to vote is acceptable and just because it's happening in a blue state doesn't mean that it's not voter suppression, according to the New York State Board of Elections, the number of early voters topped 200,000 on the first two days of early voting, and spokesman John Conklin says there were few, if any technical difficulties. For the most part. I think it's more that there's some enthusiasm driving turnout, so people are coming out. And I think that's largely been what has brought it up The lines. Polls open in New York this morning at seven and they close at three o'clock in the afternoon. Marley,

The Knowledge Lost in Information

"Every single day approximately five, hundred, million tweets are tweeted. Four million hours of video is added to youtube and four point three billion with a B. facebook messages are posted if a single person which are view only information uploaded to the Internet in just the last twenty, four hours, it would take longer than the entire span of recorded human history. The mistake is assuming that a deluge of information means that we are better informed not at all. In fact, a new report by Pew Research found that what they call quote extremely online people meaning those who relied primarily on social media for their political news are among the least informed and most easily deceived groups in America reason DOT COM described the Findings this way analyzing polls conducted from October of last year through June of two thousand, twenty pew found that just eight percent of US adults who get most of their political news from social media. Say They are following news about the two thousand election very closely compared with roughly four times as many among those who turn mostly to Cable News at Thirty, seven percent or print news at thirty three percent. The Pew study also confirmed these people self understanding when evaluated on their current political knowledge those who turned to social media for news scored lower than any other single group except for those who relied only on local TV those relying on a variety of sources including news websites, cable imprint news. scored the highest and interestingly exclusive facebook and twitter users did score higher in their knowledge of conspiracy theories such as that five G. calls coronavirus or Bill Gates plans to inject people with tracking microchips. In other words what someone finds illuminating versus luminosity largely depends on the amount of time they spend on social media. All of this underscores the fundamental myth of the information age that access to information is the same thing as knowing and that knowing about something is the same thing as wisdom and one of the choruses from the play the rock t s Eliot asked, where is the life we've lost in living? Where's the wisdom? We've lost the knowledge? Where's the knowledge? We've lost an information now he? wrote that in nineteen thirty four, what would he say about the Information Day today? How is it possible? Then in an age when the answer to almost any question we have is just a few taps or key strokes away that the least informed among us are those who do the most happening and the most typing as Elliot suggest we've confused information knowledge. We've confused knowledge with wisdom unfortunately, just shouting the truth more loudly or posting in an all caps on social media is not an effective response and fact Christians who see their job primarily is telling the truth rather than engaging people with the truth are often just lost voices among all the noise I'm painfully aware that even with my own children. One Stop on the information bus of their day, and there's a lot of stops. For example, it's far too common for parents to find the faith or moral convictions of their students completely derailed by some anti Christian claims or pseudo arguments that are just well silly. I mean, by claims that any apologised or any theologian for that matter, any coherent thinker could easily debunk in mere minutes. The answers are there, but these students are convinced by a particular set of. Voices, and they're not hearing the others even more often however students or just preoccupied with digital diversions that replace a hunger for finding truth without us. Huxley called an Appetite for distraction. These students like all the ones that were identified by Pew is being very online need more information like a drowning man needs more water. The only real antidote as Conklin I describe in the book, a practical guide to culture is discernment. It's an ability to sort through the excessive information. To identify which true and good, and then to make choices according to wisdom of course, developing discernment is a lifelong process, but it can begin with just a few very simple but careful questions like what do you mean by that? Is this true how does the Bible speak to this? Well God be honoured will the image of God be respected? Is this a trustworthy source? Is this intended for my good and is this helping us love and care about the right? Things we identify a whole series of useful questions for parents and offer other strategies for developing discernment in the book a Practical Guide to culture and the brand new students guide to culture and to be clear though I you for this revealing survey discernment is about much more than just being better informed voters. It's really ultimately about keeping our heads above water and age that's drowning us with information so that we can be people of truth of wisdom and of love.

"Floor is yours Mike Conklin well we'll try to get to Mike in a couple of minutes partly cloudy overnight lows in the mid fifties are como eco roof forecast in Rome right now is Seattle seventy two degrees the following program was pre recorded this is an ABC news special bringing America back what you need to know here is ABC news correspondent Aaron Katersky after consistent drops in infections hospitalizations and intensive care admissions mayor bill de Blasio said today New York City once the center of the nation's coronavirus crisis would move to phase two of its re opening starting Monday we've seen consistent progress and it's time to say to everyone getting ready for phase two get on your mark get set because here we go on Monday these two means playgrounds hair salons indoor retail and outdoor dining the city will allow restaurants to expand seating on sidewalks curb lanes and some streets that are going to temporarily close next month to make room New York has seemingly come out of its crisis point as other states appear to be moving into it and for the first time today governor Andrew Cuomo said New York is considering instituting a quarantine period on anyone from Florida though previously dismissive of the idea Cuomo said he has experts who have advised him to impose such a restriction I've made a decision yet but I have had experts advise me of that it is a real concern you're right it could happen gonna mention how Florida imposed a two week quarantine on new Yorkers at the onset of the pandemic Florida and other states imposed a quarantine on new Yorkers if you went to Florida you have to quarantine for two weeks because they were afraid that new Yorkers were bringing the virus to their state chest forward Hundred Days now we're afraid they bring the virus to our state Florida reported a new single day increase in infections today three thousand two hundred seven this is the first time the status posted more than three thousand cases in a single day doctor Reilly Marty joins us now from Florida International University and infectious disease specialist what's going on in your state what's going on is we are now observing the results of the last couple of weeks of people getting together too closely and without taking precautions so that our numbers are rising and they're rising for real it's not just testing it's it's a huge percent increase per you know per testing area well very significant increase for protesting area so over twelve percent positive rate and in addition to that we're seeing more cases coming to the hospital if the CDC says you should be at about five percent I think before you reopen things twelve percent positivity on the testing is a significant increase dissidents and it's worrisome to everyone in the health care community right now the governor had talked about testing and that's the reason but clearly there's more to it than that there is more to it than that I mean because one thing is to look at the absolute number of cases and that in theory absolutely could go up simply by conducting more tests but the percent positive has also gone up and and we're seeing that percent positive going up sheer in Miami Dade which is not a new community of of being tested so it's a community that we've we've been having ongoing tests and now our percent positive is higher and our house our admissions to hospitals are going up again what's the answer what should the response be well I think that leadership needs to be very clear on reminding the population of what we need to do to bring the numbers down with out if we can avoid it going into a lockdown which means everyone has to recognize that we have a serious fires the deadly virus for certain members of our community that can cause long term complications in survivors and that this is something that is preventable by our actions is that a message that just didn't get across at the outset of the pandemic because the virus seem to be hitting the northeast or western states much harder than it did Florida at least initially I think that people were paying attention to the wrong numbers and not understanding the science not understanding that this is simply a sub microscopic of piece of genetic information covered in protein that wants to get from one host to the next and there are basic things that we can do to prevent that from happening and among those things are hygiene our use of facial coverings and our social distancing and if we do that and couple it with identifying where the virus is doing testing of every level of symptomatic patient isolating those individuals testing their closest contacts with their symptomatic will not and then quarantining individuals who are still close contacts that have tested negative we do that we can accomplish having a functional economy and getting rid of the virus but if we don't do those things and we give the opportunity for this virus to have free range then we wind up with wild community spread like we had the virus doesn't care what we believe doesn't care about our politics it only cares about getting from one house to the next and when we ignore that anyone who does more that reality basic science is missing the point and actually can do themselves more harm than good Dr Eileen Marty at Florida International University in Tennessee the increasing cases is likely driven by tourism during Memorial Day weekend when a FEMA document obtained by ABC news said large crowds did not practice social distancing or use masks in New Hampshire there is been a sixty percent decrease in availability of ICU beds in just the last three days another one point five million Americans filed new claims for unemployment insurance not all may have been laid off last week there's still some backlog in the system but layoffs are still coming as the pandemic reaches deeper into the economy and employers appear reluctant to bring back all their workers ABC's Alex stone joins us now with a sign though of economic recovery Alex indications are air travels on the rebound demand is definitely going up I can tell you I flew this week every one of my flights except for middle seats which some airlines are still doing they were completely full I went through the Vegas airport it look like a normal pre cove in nineteen day in Vegas Seattle's airport was pretty busy Burbank that I was in it was busy as well that's backed up by the numbers delta airlines today saying they're looking at August capacity going up still down about fifty five percent compared to this time last year but it's a lot better than the ninety percent decline that that we were talking about a couple of months ago so things are rebounding still gonna be slow delta is adding about a thousand flights in July and August JetBlue is adding flights United had already announced it was bringing back flights American as well sure they back to normal no is it getting better yeah you mentioned middle seats being empty that's by design right yeah that said the planned delta saying that they're going to do it through the end of September at least going into October I some of the other airlines are doing it anymore United's not really doing it Americans not doing it southwest is it's not assigned seats on southwest so they just leave another open so that depending on where people want to see it that they could leave a middle seat open Alaska Airlines still doing it but it's not guaranteed on on many carriers delta still guaranteeing it they say they feel like they need to do it more than anything it's peace of mind you're not even when you have an open middle seat you're not six feet away from the other person and you're definitely not six feet away from the person in front of you and behind you but it does give you a little bit of peace of mind if you're not shoulder to shoulder with that person right next year no matter where you sit on the plane many airlines are requiring masks yeah pretty much every major airline is now requiring masks and they're getting tougher on the masks their people over if used to wear them you know airlines who kind of said well we want you to wear them please wear them now the big airlines United American some of the others are saying if you don't wear a mask if you refuse after you're told you've got to wear it that they will potentially put you on their own internal blacklist and you won't be able to fly on that airline for a certain amount of time and United is the one kind of leading this effort saying if we tell you you must wear a mask and you absolutely refuse well then you're not going to be flying United they won't say for how much time would for a certain amount of time and this is all an effort to try to get people to to wear masks something to the airlines say science and evidence show do actually work in preventing the spread of droplets on board the airline say it's got to be done ABC's Alex stone.

Greta Thunberg and the Cult of Adolescence

"Last week sixteen year old climate activist. Greta Thunberg grabbed top billing with her. How dare you climate change speech? Each at the United Nations in fact even before Thunberg had been declared the voice of a generation the ultra Liberal Church of Sweden tweeted that Jesus had appointed her. There's one of his successors the international beatification Lunberg mirrors something we saw in the wake of the Parkland shooting a few years ago. Elevating teenage teenage spokespersons for political causes in at least the cases of Thunberg and the Parkland victims their activism jettisoned reason discourse for melodramatic addicts complete with screaming and swearing and absent anything that could be considered respecting your elders. The increasing trend to block debate with angry teenage shields is the next step in a culture captivated by what I call the cult of adolescence. Adolescence as Brett Conklin I have written about in our book. A practical tactical guide to culture is a rather recent innovation in Western society. You see in most cultures throughout the history of the world. Kids went from being kids to being adults today. Hey they become adolescence. It's so normal. We actually have come to expect kids to lose their minds during their teenage years but along the way to additional things have happened and I people began to enter adolescence earlier and earlier and are leaving it later and later in fact many experts today. Identify Adolescence As the stage of life between ages eleven and thirty and sack adolescence has moved from being a stage of life to being the goal of life. Long gone honor the days when grown men and women wished to appear older and wiser. We're now a culture that sees the good life as the ability to be adolescent as long as possible now. What does any of this have to do with Greta? Thunberg and the students from Parkland while for many people chronology equals correctness beliefs and opinions of kids kids matter more than adults not because they're informed or accurate but simply because they're younger and a culture captivated by call adolescence. We should do with. Teenagers is like Thunberg or the Parkland activists say and dismissed their tendency toward hysterics and hyperbole. Despite the lack of good arguments and evidence as if youth converse some kind of sainthood an argument immunity some conservatives have reacted by telling Greta and other teenage activists to sit down and shut up. One unpopular podcasters told his audience. He has no interest in the political opinions of sixteen year olds because they couldn't possibly know anything of value. Well this is equally misguided. You see the core problem with the call to battle. Lessons is that we are penalizing. Young image bearers with low expectations. We we do this whenever we elevate teen spokespersons without requiring them to know what they're talking about. We also do this when we say that. Teenagers can't know what they're talking about. Both approaches mistakenly assume this mythological period of live called actually exist a time when young people can't be expected acted to know or to act like grown-ups and our book a practical guide to Culture Brett. Conklin I debunked the myth of adolescence. Young adults should champion big ideas. He is an important causes and in the process they should expect to encounter and be ready to answer opposing arguments. Something they're fully capable of of doing see one of the best things we can do for young adults this to respect them enough to expect more of them and of ourselves

W. G. T. I. when you know the price of that is around the same amount of money and the Toyota corolla the the goal for the the Mazda three and it's it's a it's a tough segment but it's been around since nineteen seventy two which is a long time for contact two I guess hold in that segment that about twenty thousand dollars up to forty two miles a gallon on the highway depending on what trim level you get you get between a hundred fifty eight two hundred eighty horsepower out of it at one point five liter four cylinder engine or two liter engine in that vehicle I have to say the I do like it an awful lot the one of the lane watches something the.

"Do you ever since there's maybe something in the in the archives the conklin household archives that <hes> <hes> you know might make some good storytelling. We'll what i would what would interest me would be to go back and revisit some of these guys and find out what they're doing today and a bunch bunch of the sting players the joe guys from germany over here like in the summer sometimes and spend a week we reunite and getting out of the house where week that kind of stuff and that would be one. I ran in nepal nepal lunch of all places in the casino in las vegas once and and he was standing in the background with me while they were filming that movie <hes> with dustin hoffman off mun where he plays an autistic. He's autistic and his bigger brother rainman yeah rain. They were filming a scene there. There's a scene where he's in a casino or something and there was pot you you know and he's always seem but we're both sitting there watching. I like pot. Oh my heart. I can't believe this. You know he's up in michigan. Now i think but i'd like to go back and revisit some of those guys and i'm i'm sure there's some just as the word then and sometimes he stories didn't get told now they can get told and i've i've. I've often thought about visiting and going back. I love those kind of where are they. Now kinds kinds of stories. Ill pieces of history fifty years ago. This happened back. That's the premise for this book that i'm doing now. <hes> something that happened fifty years ago and i'd like to go back and and right about that you know i see a lot of soccer books on amazon but they're all tend to be very nici. Sort of things and these guys were so cosmopolitan and so international national that i i got. I think there's some good stories in there and we'll dick advocaat would be the perfect example. Dick advocaat coached the dutch in the world cup. He was the hibernia whoa glasgow or one of the rangers are one of those teams in scotland. He went on to <hes> to <hes> you know really become the muni elite coaches in the world. You know i mean gordon hill would be a good when he became a big star at manchester united any burned out. I don't know what happened and it would be fun to mind all right. I suspect that that will not be the last episode we do on the chicago. Sting indeed we are <hes> efforting hopefully soon rather than later a conversation with the great owner of the chicago sting lee stern and that's that's hopefully within <hes> within weeks we look forward to bring that to you at some point in the reasonably near future but mike conklin has been just stupendous appendice in setting the table for this very rich tableau of the chicago sting story and if you live in or have grown up or or used to live in chicago air you're the sting is a very interesting team that continues to resonate mostly with warm fuzzies depending on who you ask and championships in chips plural that it brought to at the time a very <hes> championship starved metropolitan area in beautiful chicago illinois oy. Let's see mikes. <hes> books that we mentioned are available for sale of course wherever you find good books but if you wanna give us a few shackles of love why don't you screwed.

I. P. on the phone lines where members of the staff of the need to reach the producer directly or host directly they call that line I'm Conklin has called that line many times young under the A. on their someone else's alias you know a program director here W. I. P. or vice president of of enter calmer CBS radio at the time and you know old some very masterful Frank side one day I'll I'll get into them but the you know in a few minutes I'll get into how Jones you got me the other week eight eight eight seven two nine ninety four ninety four pound nine four nine for your eighteen T. Verizon wireless cell phone one of the all sports topics we've been discussing is how insanely expensive and so hard to find the economy a west shoe and clothing line is and it blows my mind how many people are purchasing and we had a caller at the beginning the show say they have a collection of about seven different recalled that his brand is called easy of his shoe line which can value from two hundred dollars to fifteen hundred dollars for a pair of shoes and I want to bang my head on the wall thinking about ever paying for something like that hi Jeff in Phoenixville joins us Jeff do you own a pair well come I I will never buy stuff real quick for star on that rob you're gonna love the store because I start laughing again for the for the young people I digress nam speaker had I'm forty two corruption occurs air Jordans obviously flight and all that so I'm I mean I mean that but I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna sell a lot of my shoes let out on a limb and the return call is it's not them to find their binders shall rise that's the biggest thing right now I mean I it's it's it's insane you know some of his old shoes from Nike the more he jumped ship to do this there were three four five thousand dollars and he who know who are the people that are purchasing these on the second hand market kids young kids young kids with their parents money I just I kid you not or or they buy this you like I'll give an example I bought a pair air Jordan how one the very first pair help a new version but updated but the Chicago caller has to do with the spider man cartoon came out a couple months ago called into their charter burst yeah I know it is yeah yeah well the the store near where the air Jordan then it will like you came out with a matching it and it's got the web thing on it and I bought a car from like you four hundred fifty Bucks I got lucky got a care I can re selling right now on the stock acts which is the the thing that I think Dan Gilbert's involved and and I can make I can sum for three hundred twenty five dollars right now and and and I did not work to do I know they take they take twelve percent which is fine and and I get free shipping to send out to them Hey I'll walk away with two hundred eighty five dollars for network breezy but that's what they're doing to find its clothing to resell it because you know eBay was making a fortune reselling stops on that now stock acts got in a day isn't as other companies yeah all bill is billion I'm not it's not no it's it's billions of dollars it's it's it's it's the weirdest stuff but on you and me I would never buy your stuff I think it's ugly what where Jeff is fastening like my comfort where home in the winter is a pair jogging pants and a sweatshirt I never knew that these morons out there are paying five hundred dollars for the same switcher now because it's his brand I would never do it either I just worry after old pair of air Jordan when chance that you can get a real quick before coming up you brought on Seinfeld and that's the second read what you said I'm like I got what the heck you know kids it's such a classic show I can't believe it's thirty years old not make me feel really old yeah but you know there's so many ones on there you know I really like to keep Hernandez one I thought that was hysterical the second step that was just that was a riot and the gun is that we know Kramer Asha vanity plates of the proctor colleges exactly yeah and you can actually buy that plate of some company makes vanity plates from movies and stuff and you have to buy a lot hang on a car some that you want to it's it's it's absolutely hysterical burn it's it's it's yeah that was that your favorite episode are you that was really funny it also when you're playing pool and that really tiny room that was just just now with the maestro it was it was George Davis your details yeah but remember the maestro was his friend and they couldn't fit the bill your call the poll the the stick inside the room is to use the maestro's what's a call yeah in the bigger the one of three so it was it was when George had Tony this friend and he he fell and broke his face anything he called for a judge's offset Stempel Hoff Tony no if I appreciate the call that was god what was the act the he was from a he made his claim to fame on M. TV sports Dan Cortez name Cortez at the or the you know the original what MTV was up and coming in they they introduced MTV sports he was the host of MTV sports I he's still around he's doing he's the host of some show he's where he's age really well it looks exactly the same you never know he's about fifty years old now but he had a cameo to Dan Cortez in Braveheart he was just one of the random people killed enough in a fight scene but the home man that was a good episode with the maestro Bob Cobb Bob Cobb Joe in south Philly is on W. I. P. what's up Joe we're real quick I did it just it just came to mind the one where George combine easy including that one like a bad because of the great one this drama is the most sensual of all the deli meats one of the following yeah he went for the tri factor and tried to listen to the met there and the the Yankees game as well as eating and it really was a brilliant show real quick I wanted to talk about NBA replay big real quick you were talking about how they shot the movie cast away it Basil crazily chronological order you know another movie that was shot like that Spielberg shot ET that way because the end when he he goes back on the ship even though the kids are going to be able to convincingly cry on camera so that was the last being the shot was very easy leaving to go back home wow I didn't know I know I had no idea that's that's a great tip it by you do I'd no idea that's pretty cool yeah so I think yeah I know I'm in the minority here but I see I I do think too many times especially in the NBA I feel like called calls are men or call her inconsistent my day like you have to I don't know a thing you you go back and review every every facet of the game would take seven hours he did that but you need to be able to use it like like goaltending called happy be reviewable outbound inbound ladies have to be review of all you know Mike you're there certain things you just have to be able to get right why I. Z. I'm curious to see the details have not been released just yet as to what is and is not reviewable whether it's exactly we referring to whether it could be something like out of bounds or a potential found it wasn't called for what's called an actually wasn't found how many they're allowed within a game and that's that's what's going to determine how much it extends these games because that's what I worry about Joe if it's like a one and done kind of deal then I'm okay with it but if you're you know if they don't set a number of challenges you can have in it because it's in the early goings into space experimental some of these could take like three four five minutes any of the moment and it could be you strategically to if you're a team that's just the opposing it on defense you're a save right now any other teams on a fifteen run you throw the challenge flag it's like a time out yeah I mean it but but let's remember officials in the NBA official do do a lot of their own reviewing like when they go back and review what they're playing or one or two or sometimes does take it upon themselves to review out of bounds or who had projection of the ball so there's already really is replay in basketball I think that's the thing we're getting hung up on is it better now there's a code you challenge because basketball already attribute memories already yeah they already do they already do that yeah and then a lot of times it can really extra I'm just worried I don't know I just to pay the one thing that's always been great about basketball it's that the pace of it you can always you know I I don't want to go from a two hour twenty minute game to a two hour and forty minute game because of you know five challenges within that forty eight minutes well they were smart they'd eliminate the number they would happen number of time out eighteen the act like you don't need big time now and a half why you just don't I agree I'm percent agree sorry Joe I appreciate the comment the right all right so let me get into the salary let me tell lot of people ask me on Twitter and and I have to tell rob cherry the story so at two Fridays ago arm at the Borgata with the morning show I'm Keith Jones and I'm filling in for area and a lot of the top a tall it was right before free agency began allow the conversations about Jimmy Butler and we and angel asked me some random question about basketball and I answered it in about five minutes later I get a text on my phone from a number I don't recognize and it says in is a very educated tweet text saying you know you're right about this but this is that this happened in addition and I pulled up on my laptop in my home whoever this is text to me was correct so I replied who is this and the reply was Stephen A. Smith and then I reply back you know thanks Steve I appreciated his reply back like two minutes later was I know my basketball and that was the end of it so the show goes on I'm N. we get no conversation about Tobias Harris or something and I go on this ran for about three minutes about the bias Harris in about a minute later I get a text again from the same from Steven and he says that what I really liked your rant on on Tobias Harris that was spot on and I and I wrote thanks Steve you know I appreciate the listen and they replied something like I I listen often you know and the area code of the number you know it's he was a Jersey area code a Michael Stephen a Smith worked your free lawyer lives I probably lives in the area any probably live somewhere in Jersey good that's conceivable right and even though he travels all cross country kept the same number you still has a lot.

"I'm mike conklin on komo news hello everybody well here's what you've got for you today we're going to have showers and a high of around sixty degrees lots of gray out there gotta get wet in some areas is kinda random but that's how these things go and we're also watching for the possibility anyway and it's a slight chance of some isolated thunderstorm activity especially in the higher elevations and around the converted between seattle and everett hopefully we won't have to deal with that you're all said have a great weekend and the komo weather center i'm steve pool start your engines and they're off back to our expert nick miles this is komo news welcome back to the show our guest is an tom woman independent investor and analyst we've talked about many things here in san diego we continue our next segment talking about tests they had the shareholders call this week blah blah blah blah well so at tesla hosted its annual shareholder meeting and elon musk basically give an update on production and give an update on the company's plans to build more factories basically he says that within the next month or so they are going to be able to make five thousand model three cars per week which is basically what he has been saying for the last two or three or four months that's basically been where he's been at and we'll see if they missed that deadline a few times who absolutely there were supposed to make five thousand by beginning of december and then it became you know or early twentieth eighteen and then came in the spring and now it's sort of end of june and then of course that is the number of cars made but also have to sell them and deliver them and there tends to be a leakage between what they actually are able to produce and how many there are actually being registered out there in the field currently of course the car is only sold in two countries united states and canada because tesla wants to hit two hundred thousand units not on june thirty or before but rather on or shortly after july first that means that they are probably going to hold back their deliver in the united states in the month of june and therefore divert.

"Four i'm mike conklin komo news hi everybody it is mother's day here in western washington it's going to be a warm when we could even see some record highs here for our sunday afternoon temperatures starting in the fifties and ending in the low to mid eighties around the metro area today beautiful data beyond the burke gilman biking or hiking up on some of our area trails even beachside just remember that that water is still icy cold even though the air is still nice and mild as we go back to work monday even warmer temperatures back into the mid to the upper eighties before cooling the little bit by tuesday in the komo weather center i'm meteorologist shannon o'donnell komo news time to set it on cruise control this is our auto expert here's nick miles or quebec show as always we like to have a friend anton woman join us he is an independent investor and analyst and anton always talks about some of the latest technology and perhaps the things that are going right at tesla which doesn't take very long to get through the things going wrong however takes a lot more time to get through let's talk about what might be going wrong with elon musk anton there has been a spate of tweets and verbal press conferences in which he lon his mental stability is started to be questioned by many that's right so what stole the show in terms of the media attention in the in the hours following the quarterly earnings report was that ilan basically refused to answer questions from some of the analysts on the call questions pertaining to how tesla was going to be able to fund future capital expenditures for factories building the likes of the model y another future products that could come out in a few years as well as what's happening with mom three reservations all of that basically took up all of the media attention as to why he refused to answer these questions now in my opinion this masks the by far and away more important issue of the actual underlying numbers as they are going on so tesla lost depending on your choice of accounting method between about twenty three thousand in about twenty.
