A new study shows the pandemic even affected the behavior of dozens of bird species in the Pacific Northwest, John libertini explains. As the public went into hibernation, dozens of bird species became more adventurous. Three quarters of the species we looked at are sightings of them changed. That's doctor Olivia sanderford, a former UW doctoral researcher specializing in wild birds. Changed day to day as a result of how much people were moving around. And that suggests that there's this intimate relationship between human disturbance and bird activity. More than 900 volunteers started tracking 46 species across Washington and Oregon during the spring of 2020. Our volunteers were in places like yards and parks and green spaces within cities in the Pacific Northwest. Early on, the bird sensed a calmer environment, but they may have also grown more comfortable. The number of species were actually more likely to be detected as human mobility picked back up. Yes, that means quality bird watching, maybe as close as your own backyard. John libertini, northwest news radio. After two years of free school lunches, kids will have to pay again this fall, advocates including Carol white Vega with the nonprofit no kid hungry, lobby Congress to extend a pandemic program for universal free meals. "Each and every week for you at the same time talking to the biggest names in professional sports I'm scarlet foo along with Mike lynch and Damien SaaS Let's continue our conversation with MLS cup champions NYC FC president and CEO Brad Sims and Sean Johnson the MVP of the MLS cup and the goalkeeper of the NYC FC Guys thanks for sticking around Brad let me come to you first because obviously talent retention is huge And it feels like the MLS and your team have really fixated on the long-term in terms of looking at talent Talk about your time horizon when it comes to attracting talent Yeah We talk about it internally We are a group city football group owns 11 is a partner in 11 different clubs around the world And we think that winning in the U.S. winning in MLS is the hardest lead to win anywhere in the world because it's a salary cap league the rules of kind of roster construction are set up in a way that is meant for parity and so theoretically in a team at least that now will have 20 18s next season 2022 You should have a one 28 chance of winning the championship You know they make it really hard So I think for us what a key has been is how do you get the right mix of players invest in young players have a lot of upside but also having a strong core group of veterans which we had on the team because you need any guys who know how to win to know how to lead lead others and but yeah and then once you win it's tough You guys you guys have certain achievements They may want to go on the way our biggest position You might have guys that feel like they're ready to go on and kind of test their talents and European leagues Or guys on our team maybe not starting or getting as much playing time as they want and they could go to another MLS team and be a starter or get more playing time And so that's always the challenge of finding that finding that right mix I think that we give a lot of credit to our spurring director and David Lee And of course our coaching staff we have to manage that and try and figure out how do you keep guys engaged if they're not starting every game How do you keep them ready Because we had some key injuries this year and you need depth in this league You need that There's injuries There's unfortunately we had a handful of red cards tension this year as well And so you're also down a player and they're down two players or down three players and it's kind of the next man up mentality and you got to have great depth to be able to survive kind of gauntlet of the MLS season Sean NY CFC is part of the city football group family right As Brad mentioned clubs across the world France Japan Uruguay you name it Man city How do you interact with all these different clubs worldwide You personally the team itself are you interacting with man city with a lot of these other players on a regular basis I mean I mean talk to us about that relationship Yeah I think our ownership group city football group has been tremendous in what they've built and obviously the standard that they uphold and the players every player that steps into city football group organization understands what it means understands what winning means and when you set out every season I think that's up to the players that have been there and understand that to really get that communicated to everybody else So credit to them they've built such a successful powerhouse of teams we do communicate Right before I remember the Eastern Conference final the goalkeeper for a Manchester City reached out to wish me good luck Zach Stephan good friend of mine in the national team teammate reached out as well Telling me to bring it home bring the cup home So it's a giant family So Brad we know the team is in what it seems like an endless fight forever fight for a stadium of their own We'll talk more about that coming up But we know that's job number one What is job two and job three right now I mean I think the really simple thing is continuing to win as being job too as we hit on before fans and people they want to follow winners and something that we saw We've had great and support on talked about it I mean we've had fantastic fan support over the last 7 years but the last few weeks it just kind of seems like it's grown in orders of magnitude and the momentum throughout the playoff run and then leading up to the finals I mean we had we had over 2500 fans travel across the country 6 hour flights to Portland on four days notice to be there to support the team in person We had another 4000 people at our official watch party here in New York City completely sold out packed and then by all accounts and talked to so many people who are walking up and down streets of Manhattan on Saturday and every bar pub restaurant as the game on places packed and are in their cheering And so we got to grow and use it as a launching pub for the club All right Up next we are going to continue this conversation with NYC FC's Brad Sims and Sean Johnson We're going to talk about the business of running an MLS franchise straight ahead on Bloomberg business of sports I'm scarlet fu on Twitter I'm at scarlet foo And I'm Damian sass Howard you can find me at D sass hour And I'm Mike lynch follow me at.

"About him more. I'm sure in the bench part. So that means what Marvin ray comes in? That's who we're assuming makes that guy runs coming in. You could go die rod and sat duo Moreno. Who plays that guy? Who plays in a place before him? So daeron comes into the team, obviously. The question becomes, do you want to put Jimmy Chara in that central spot like you did against Sarah Sel? And play Santiago Moreno on the wing or do you want Laurie in that space and keep Jimmy char out wide? I think that's the question that's kind of what you have to figure out. I wouldn't be surprised if it's Laura in the team and Chara because I think you get the best out of Chara when he's out wide, especially with you assume there's a tax coming up from the fullback position for NYC FC, so there's space for him to take advantage of down that wing, and I also think you just saw such a high level from the Rhea and that gives you Moreno and Blanco as Ben shop since to be real weapons and I talked to geo for a while outside of the interview about Moreno and how excited they are about him and how much he's already improved and what he's done for this team, but I still think you're looking at a guy who you know can be a killer off the bench and change the game because you don't know if Blanco. Maybe you bring blank off dimension. He's not that strong. And you kind of have to take him back off. So I think Moreno off the bench makes more sense. I also think just the way and why CFC has dominated the ball and dominated the midfield. So far in these playoffs that asking Jimmy to be that guy in there with predecessor, you better served having blurry in there. He can be a threat attacking wise, but he's just really clean and responsible in those tight areas. I think that's going to be hugely hugely important in this game to try to slow down the YC and make sure you keep the game in the right game state for the timbers to be in a position to have the space to run into to counter attack to do what they like to do. Diego Chara, is the everlasting one. He's not going away anytime soon. Even at 35, it just doesn't stop for him. It's better. I don't know if he's on the preppy yoga thing, like a smile. It's just a happy, you feel young. It just slows through you. And then paretti, of course, on the other side, you've got James sands, I would think, and Alfredo Morales, and then maxim Morales. What are the strengths of the New York side in your opinion? Charlie, what do you see from that side? From that side, I look at sans and Ross. They're just busy. I think James sands realizes when he's in possession. It's too slow. And he's getting dispossessed. He's losing the ball. He's putting himself the team in bad positions. When he plays with the ball, the team and the ball in front of him and he's quick and it's one touch two touch, and it's very simple. That's when he's at his best, and that's when New York City is at FC's at their best because typically that means he's finding maximum in a pocket because he's right off his foot, where he's finding Morales and Morales finds the other Morales..

"Most awesome pipes in dark radio, so bastion gorka. And we're back with the New York posts but random divine. What is it that surprised you or what aspect of this story hasn't been adequately discussed to date? I think probably the biggest thing is and it was something that when I discovered it, again, from putting those jigsaw puzzle pieces together, I sort of had to step away from the computer for a while and shake my head. I couldn't believe what I discovered. And that was that Hunter Biden and Jim Biden were riding in the middle of this enormous energy deal between China and Russia. It was the marriage of China and Russia, which would have had enormous geopolitical consequences. It was a tectonic shift in power relations in the globally and would have been very detrimental to America. And this was a deal that CEFC brokered, which was between China was buying a big chunk of rosneft, which is the Russian state owned energy company. And Putin was sort of forced into this by sanctions that Europe and America placed on him after the downing of MH 17 with the Ukraine. So this was sort of a marriage of necessity from Putin's side and opportunity side. And it was only stopped. And Hunter Biden was right in the center of this knowing about the meetings being told about when G is going to win the CFC chairman's going there and so on. The only reason this was foiled was because the Trump administration came in and Jeff Sessions in the attorney general had a remit to stop China shenanigans. And the southern district of New York, then arrested Patrick Ho, one of the business partners from CFC and that through the whole thing into disarray and of course the chairman of CFC eugen Ming then disappeared in China. That's what hunter was referencing at the beginning of that voice memoir that you just played. And he left behind, of course, he's a huge real estate purchasers in Manhattan, including that $54 million penthouse in the limestone Jesus in the middle of Manhattan where he ensconced his wife and his two kids and his mother in law and his cooking is made and so on. And but he disappeared and has never been seen again because that was a great embarrassment to president Xi. And they had to quickly pull apart CFC with defunct and China had to pay Russia an enormous amount of compensation. But it was good that that deal was foiled because the last thing we wanted was for China and Russia to be in charge of the energy dynamics in globally. But that was what the president Joe Biden was part of that deal. CFC. He was going to when he retired from being vice president. Hunter had organized for him to have an office in Georgetown with his nameplate on the door with hunter and it said CFC America. And foiled by the southern district of New York by Jeff Sessions by Donald Trump. But that really was frightening to see that such a bumbling crackhead and a bumbling person like Jim Biden, Jim and Hunter Biden were right there in the center of this enormous deal that has so much influence and potential for damaging all our lives. It's truly truly shocking. I think that's all the more reason why everybody has to read this book the laptop from hell. Something else that's truly shocking. And I apologize to our listeners that I'm going to have to switch topic. But I have to, because I can't let up an opportunity to have a quasi antipodean with us after what we've witnessed occur in Australia in the last few months. People having to escape from COVID camps last week. We can get back to the book. We can talk about sci-fi and anything else in the last few minutes we have here. But Miranda just helped me for two minutes. What is going on in Australia? I mean, I've been to Australia. I grown up with Australians in the UK. There's some of the toughest SOBs on the planet. Have they died out? Are you now a nation of snowflakes that he's fine with being locked up by petty bureaucrats for the rest of eternity? Look, I mean, there are a few things that you have to understand about Australia. Unlike America, there's no Bill of rights, American didn't have Australia didn't have a war of independence. And so there's much more sort of trust, I guess, in the government. Firstly, secondly, the worst of the images in the VDR is that you are saying of real totalitarian crackdowns. It's coming from one state called Victoria, most of it from one state, Victoria. And it's like, you know, California and New York on steroids. You know, we call it the socialist republic of Victoria, the premier is a socialist from the socialist left of the Labor Party. But he's popular. He's incredibly popular, but also in Victoria is the biggest pushback. I mean, that had the biggest riots and so on. Where I'm from New South Wales, the largest state is like Florida,.

They decided to ban cfc with the idea of protecting the ozone layer. Because guess what if we don't have the ozone layer basically We all just get caught on fire. The whole planet just burns okay. We all get radiation. It's a mess. It's not a good thing There's not a good scenario without an ozone layer so they actually did some stuff here and said. Hey let's try to stop this so banning the cfc's it looks like it's actually working yet. We finally have some good news on the whole climate change frontier because not only is it helping to make the ozone hole smaller but it is also shaving. A few degrees off of global warming so good job eighties us. We did great on this. I actually i just did. A couple of episodes three episodes to be exact on climate change global warming. The first one was about the financial impact of climate change. And then i did something on the wildfires smoke and then the water so check those out. It's over on learning more. There's a link in the podcast description. Here it's episode number sixteen seventeen and eighteen of learning more. Please do go check that out if you get a chance. It is also national working parents day today now both parents working how many of us are dealing with that about forty. Six percent of households are dealing with with the mother and father working and that is for the households with a mother and father. That's how they did the research and now at least one parent being employed. Well that's eighty eight percent of families with children. Now that's actually down from ninety one percent the previous year and i guess there's covert to blame for that and so here's the thing. A lot of us are working from home. Now right and national working parents day we got to think about working from home and being a parent and that can be a little tough right well. Because you know you're bringing your work home with you literally. You're not leaving your office ever. You could literally never stop working. But let's think of some of the advantages here. Well you know this means that maybe there's time for making dinner. Maybe there's time for taking a break in the middle of the day and go throwing a ball with your kid or just picking him up dropping him off from school. Whatever it is work life balance is very important. Make sure you shut off that computer to certain time in walkaway from those devices so that you do get that time with your kids for especially for today from national working parents. Day is also national. Step family day to day and looking at that. Same data from the previous story there well over thirty percent of the population under eighteen. Live in a stepfamily. So here's a day for you. And of course i had mentioned the brady bunch i mean. Come on the most famous stepfamily of all. It is also national. Plato day today. And as i mentioned in the open there i love the smell. I don't know why maybe it just takes me back. To childhood thing was though plato. Originally it wasn't meant to be a toy. it was actually meant to be a wallpaper cleaner seventies. is that right. Yeah joe mcvicker Made this stuff. It was a simple mixture was basically water flour and salt. Those are the main ingredients of and may turn it into a toy. They made red blue yellow and white. And as we're the only brands now of course there's about fifty different colors available. Of course if you make something then it all just turns into that weird gray color it is also national cinnamon raisin bread day today per slice yet about one hundred calories in this thing which since. We did the story on the boston cream doughnut. I believe that was three hundred calories. So you can have three slices of cinnamon raisin bread or one of those boston cream donuts from dunkin. Choose whatever you want. I won't judge. It is national guacamole day today as well and this one. I'm going to judge on. 'cause i love me some guacamole and if you don't make a right not going to be happy. So what do you do. I'll tell you some ways to make it but first let's talk about. The origins of this comes from central mexico. Where avocados just grow naturally right there. There and aztecs were there so they started kind of making guacamole and guess what they didn't call the avocado and avocado originally. It was called an alligator pear. I think that's actually united states. That gave it that horrible name but eventually it would become avocado. I can't imagine eating alligator pear toast at just doesn't work anyway. So here's what you do for guacamole. First of all you can either. You got an option here. If you like chunky then you're gonna use one of those Like potato masters. If you don't like it chunky like it more creamy than us a couple of folks. I squish it down with a couple of folks i and you know all you have to do really is add some garlic and some salt and some lime and you are good that is all you need typically for guacamole but you can also add some of the same ingredients that you would add until like salsa fresco. You know tomatoes and some sort of chili type of things onions. You can do that. But i like it just like you know. I like to taste the avocado. So only putting all that other stuff in there. We'll garlic little salt little lime. That's all you need by the way the largest serving of walk molly ever well. That was eight thousand. Three hundred and fifty one pounds and that was achieved in mexico for the avocado festival in twenty eighteen year. Wonder how much to charge for that charge. Like five dollars for a spoonful anyway. Let's take a look. At our historical events. Starting sixteen twenty. The pilgrims set sail on the mayflower from england. Yeah okay not exactly the best time to sail across the ocean especially back then right now. They were originally said to leave at the start of summer but there were delays in getting supplies so it didn't quite work out for them so there you go. They left on this day. They spent sixty six days at sea only to arrive in an unfamiliar place in the of winter because it was winter you know they can really set up camp properly and only fifty of the one hundred and two. Pilgrim's survived through that very difficult winter. Now here's the thing. French and dutch colonies were already fishing and gathering along the east coast of the. What would be later called the united states. By the time the mayflower arrived and the spanish will they had already settled. Florida like decades early. So when we learn so much in history about the pilgrims why is that well it could be because maybe the you know the brits want or so those who win gets tell the story but it also could be that william bradford one of the pilgrims aboard the mayflower kept a journal and he kept his journal for nearly three decades and those injuries within the journal contained much of the history of that time. Okay we had so many days to talk about so much information to go through just about guacamole really couldn't cover all of the events so let's tell you some of the other ones real quick here. One thousand nine hundred general motors corporation was in one thousand nine hundred sixty eight richard. Nixon appeared on. Laugh in in nineteen eighty-four miami vice premiered and in one thousand nine hundred ninety four. There was a fire in the lighthouse. Smokey electrical fire not too much damage. But let's take a look at some of our birthdays for today. James cash any was born on this day in eighteen. Seventy five lauren. Bacall was born on this day in nineteen twenty four. "Dot com slash. Podcast as i've been saying for some time now. A specter's haunting wall street. The specter of sky-high natural gas prices. Now often hear that that gas has roared. Thanks to tight. Supplies going to the colder part of the year. But what if this is really the mother of all short-squeezes. This is crucial to both the stock in the broader economy is natural. Gas is a major cost for so many different industries. That's why tonight we're going off the charts with carly goerner a brilliant tactician who's the co founder of carly trading the author of higher probability mighty trading inner resident commodities x. Why because we want a better read on the situation won't be pretty clinical and that's carley garner karma points out that all year we've seen the same pattern across various different commodities. You'll get a miraculous boom followed by an agonizing bus now. There are good reasons why natural gas started running and usually hot summer that number. That's fair conditioning. Fall by plot disruptions from hurricane ida however unless me an extremely co-winner garner thinks that marcus overestimating the level demand you're with nat gas at five bucks and change. Why are living. Put this in perspective. That's awful for years ever since the industry embraced fraught we've been flooded with supply and that's kept a major little prices. In other words betting gets natural gas was like shooting fish in a barrel garner things. The bears got complacent though the result of that complacency occasionally you get explosive moves higher. They catch everyone by surprise. It's not just right now. In twenty eighteen there was a managed futures program blow up the set natural gas from two dollars and seventy cents to four eighty in a matter of weeks. Short sellers were forced to liquidate by buying back futures contracts coladas. A handful we slater was back in the free box because short-squeezes just don't last car suspects. Were seeing something very similar right now so once you take a look at this weekly chart and that's the most simple chart we're going to see a natural gas and this is with the cfc's commitment of traders. Were caught report right. These are the numbers that show you the net positions of small speculators lord speculators and commercial. Hedger's what we care about are the large speculators meeting professional money measures and that is the green line. Cd's okay Over the summer you can see that these money managers took a large net short position as natural gas route but at the time prices moved comfortably. Four bucks they enough firepower. There was no one left to sell and when that happens. Prices tend to skyrocket which is exactly what happened. That's that is a cause and effect situation. Eventually the bears capitulate but in order to do that. The by natural gas features back which pushed the prices. even higher. that leg quarter believes short-squeezes. Likely be temporary now. just look at this chart. Nearly every time the award speculators get too negative okay. Green green green van damme right. This what happens right natural gas spice but then quickly plummets wants to short-squeeze squeeze comes back to back in two thousand fourteen. This kind of squeeze took us to five seventy five right. Initially people back in one last one to six fifty. That's the pressure under four bucks just as fast as it rallied. That's why commodity traders call natural gas the widowmaker however while she says the short-squeezes temporary doesn't mean out choose according to garner prices. Keep rolling for awhile before the break down. Why because the net short position held by lord speculators only picked a few weeks ago at one hundred sixty six thousand contracts and you can see that right there as as sorry as the most recent commitments of traders report with data from last tuesday these institutions. Still one hundred twenty thousand net short positions garner's another forty to sixty thousand contracts got squeezed out last week. Meaning roughly half. The shorts have already been forced out. The thing is passed short-squeezes. Natural gas didn't end until board speculators went mutual or even long others totally switch position. Which means we've got a warm ways to go before this move comes to an end. If that pattern holds true garner thinks natural gas could move towards two thousand nine or two thousand fourteen high so now really starting to think about it's pretty elevated levels two thousand fourteen. We'll tim second. That's somewhere between five. Seventy five and six fifty. It would be around there. Now take a look at this chart of the natural gifts futures everson's prices bolted above three thirty jun. The fossil fuel hasn't looked back since breaking out above five dollars last friday which.

"The similar turnout are fans already burnt out here. What what's i know. It's an hour later but with the lightning delay. It might work out to be close to the same time Do you see the turnout that we saw last week is our fans coming out pumped up ready to ram seem trying to get back on the right track. I think we'll see a good turn out because it's an sec team vanderbilt. There's a lot of vanderbilt connections of people out in this part of the country. This is a chance for them to go see their team. And frankly a chance for them going into the season in what they probably think is one of their most winnable games on their schedule. So i do think that Some of that you know. We don't won't have the first game enthusiasm of last week. But i think it'll still be strong. It's a it's orange out. Egged day and orange outs always bring a little bit of extra energy a little bit extra in the crowds. The big question is gonna be. What the rams due to get those fans to actually stay and want to cheer on this team moving forward because you know you couldn't have asked for a better student turnout better. Students support than they got in that opening game but we know from history. Csu fans in general in students in particular fickle when the rams win. They pack the place when they're losing. They find better things to do on a saturday night. We've said it for years. Kelly this the state of colorado and outside the broncos if there's teams not given given you a production they will find something to do day or night. That's that's the beauty of the state. It's a blessing and a curse. I suppose if your college football team. Kelly what are you working on. Forest man As we try to turn the page. Ccs you can get back to a five hundred record before the schedule gets really difficult. The next an extra weeks. Well i'm working on a lot of different stories. Some of them non-cis you related. Just put a story posted one online today. About actually a special needs student manager that fossil ridge high school's program has been rallying around scout greaves. He's back home now and hopefully on the mend and but the support he's gotten his tremendous Us are reaching out to some other Other different things from cfc's volleyball stuff and other things at the moment so a couple of things fell through today. "They gave us no other instruction other than make this three dimensional sculpture right and there's people in the class that were extraordinary at it and there are people like me that handed in what looked like a potato and and that was just because i had never worked with my hand that way before but i found that the war i worked on it. I was able to develop it. What did you guys find from your simulator Experiments with pre dental students referred a lot of things. First of all would head check myself to ever have started there again. It's the only area required at all so that it was your idea it was. It was my. I'll tell you i was my idea. The alternative idea was. Let's go to dental schools. And i'm thinking oh that's a terrible idea. Hundred thousand dollars a pop. I mean we'd we're not there yet so we've come up with some great ways to manage that now but leases to great ways of doing other services with the product. But we started there. And i think we started there really primarily because our doctors were passionate about and wanted to really test out that theory and i'll give our owners credit. The doctors came up with but are there to owners and they jumped in there and they showed up and they worked with hundreds of kids who came and took the exam and of course we did the research So i'll tell you the findings but i'll tell you the things that we immediately are faced with when people ask Dental professionals particularly in dental school don't want to hear that someone's not capable of learning it. that's fair their teachers. They're educators. They believe they can. But here's the number that's not published and i don't know the exact number but as much as ten percent of some dental school classes are going through some form of remediation. You had people that you went to school with that. Had to go through it. The only difference. Today that. I see prominently is i don't think schools are removing people like the used to and you know we see it in the licensure exam and we see it and remediation. It's going to happen. We're going to catch it at some point but whether that's by practice or people slipping through the cracks. There's a lot of expense to not knowing these these data points. So here's what it is. The answer to your question about fifty percent and i think the biggest answer time about fifty percent of the people that have gone through and taken the course have been able to get to a place where they've demonstrated hand skills and roughly three hours of practice so our session that we do for hand skills is a six hour. Course and the reason it's a six hour course is ninety percent of the people that take it chauhan's skill proficiency at six hours. I would say of that. Ten percent don't eighty percent of those people so the next eight percent get there in about nine to ten hours so whether it was giving few extra hours or other people paying for a few more hours the got there now. What about really demonstrating imagine this. You went to dental school. These are kids that are gonna show up at dental school and we actually have a boot camp that we did first one ever with the dental school this year. Where if they pass this exam they actually get their interview in the boot camp and they passed the interview. They get an automatic acceptance to dental school. This is a dental school. that's progressive. they're thinking about what are the things that really matter to us. they allowed dimension with school. Which school it. Yes i am. It's lincoln memorial university. Which is a school. It's going to open next year and first class of people went through this summer. We'll have one coming up in december That's got a few slots remaining. And then we've got another four or five boot camps next summer and this dean is really committed to being an elevator. She's one of the top thirty three dennis. That just came out in the recent article. She's an innovator. She's really focused on student. Well being she is determined to be a technology focused dane. She's bringing these simulators and already. She is focusing on how to make things less expensive and how to provide health care to people who can't get it to do all those things he got to take a little bit of a different approach and so as we started looking at The the people that that were the extra hours we recognize. Those were the people that dental professionals that were teaching. We're we're telling us y'all can't educate these people. Can you imagine starting starting your dental school career. And you already know how to do a restorative. Prep both direct and indirect. And you already know how to do a crown. Prep that draws both direct and indirect. That's what we're teaching. These kids now are teaching on either teaching on blocks but think of it like any exam. You've ever taken you tell you. Want a two millimeter depth prep We built that into a block and you remove it now. Are more advanced products that we use in dental schools are actually teeth. We can do individuals we can do them if large Wiki give restriction on the arts. Cfc's mirror certain way we have other tools like excavators things like that but in the exams we also have the ability to use digital probes. Check your depths as you're doing things we take all the reasons why won't work out. We make it very easy. I watched to hygienist this week. And he'd never worked on a crown prep Sit down and do an indirect crown prep.

"cfc" Discussed on Exchanges at Goldman Sachs
"This is exchanges at goldman sachs and i'm als- nathan senior strategist and goldman sachs research in this episode. We're going to discuss. The impact of china's heightened regulatory scrutiny on the capital markets and the implications for investors to do that. I'm sitting down with my colleagues from the asset management business. Stephanie que- a shock ws and critique so fought. Will i turn to stephanie who leads goldman sachs's private equity business in asia with a focus on growth equity investments stephanie. Welcome to the program. Thank you alison to start us off. We've seen a series of regulatory changes in china that have obviously rattled markets. Can you. I just give us a sense of the nature of some of these changes and their significance. So two weeks ago there happened. Announcements that rattled the stock market. It started with the attack sector there. The government announced that after school tutoring for kids from takes twelve needs to turn nonprofit there were restrictions in capital raising for these type of companies appeals not allowed in important vestige should not make investments there so the purpose of that stated still lower cost and anxieties of tribe weary as shortly after that there were other announcements that were made the focus spans across different sectors and i would say areas in food for example cyber security specifically companies that have more than one million users need to apply for cybersecurity approvals before they actually can listen in another trumpster. Antitrust is another area. That people were looking at and so i think that flurry of announcements caused the market to be very jittery in the last two weeks so i have been investing in the region in private equity for the last twenty five years i would say over the years. There have been a lot of cycles that came through right. I remember the asian financial crisis ninety seven saws. There was of course the cfc's an in between the volatility. It was always constant. I would say this time around. It came fast. In terms of the regulatory changes announcement. It came quite broad and it came cereal in terms of you know every day every other day so it did cause people to pause and take a look at ed but that being said i would say this change is not particularly very different from previous ones. In the sense that there will be adjustments. That will be made and we'll learn and will grow from here so uncertainty but definitely opportunity go forth and so what are we. Seeing in terms of private investor flows our clients getting to reallocate funds away from china. How they responded because we're in the private markets. The reaction is not that start yet. We're seeing people hundred understanding learning but we're not seeing any dramatic reaction at this moment in time. I think fundamentally people still believe that china is a very important market is large is growing and that this is more adjustment targeting internally to quote a quick fix the economy so that it could be a long term sustainable but that being said interestingly you observe the public markets while all that volatility was coming in china in the last two weeks in india. We actually saw that. There were a number of early stage. Tech deals are getting you know very strong funding closing and also some of the debut of the public market trading tech companies. Were doing very well. So why would try to put into together and say it's from china into india. One concluded that way. But i would actually say that it makes people think were diversification of geographies and diversification of sectors and industries. And i think a lot of the private investors remain very focus. I would say the pipeline deals that we have been discussing whereas all the discussion still going strong. So has this changed your medium or longer term thesis behind the growth opportunities in the region so we are focused on four actors in terms of growth investments namely enterprise software. Fintech consumer in healthcare. And i do think that. The whole seem of digitization and hence enterprise software into it will continue infrastructure still needs to happen and bieber not going to go back on that so we continue to look into quality companies let by good management teams in those sectors and in consumer for gen z. The whole theme about them be more individual. Sustainable you know looking for products are quality rather than clutter. I think that will continue. And we just have to again overlay with the lens of what is good for society as we make these investments and by the way some of these sectors are new. So we have to expect that regulation slow catch up at some way and so that any of those coming through would not be a surprise and on healthcare. I think the key there is innovation new stuff which is good for society which helps make the people healthier. I think that always be a need for that. That's therapeutic gap is there and it will remain there so we will continue to look into that and the key i would highlight again is margin setter fair and sustainable and that's how we're gonna look at the sectors so you ask me today. I was so saying that those four sectors are sound good and hopefully the valuations will be more reasonable right. So what i'm hearing from you is. This really hasn't changed your view. On the opportunities in the region the sectors that feel the most compelling from a growth perspective but ultimately is just putting a different lens on it as well absolutely. There's one element that is constan. It has changed and from. Our perspective is understanding the change seeing the change and continue to look forward. But i do believe the size scale of the marketplace will sustain our investments going for us and i think it is the key question in the sense that you can we still see the type of growth and innovation that the region's been known for in the wake of these type of developments. What is your sense of that. For sure i think innovation economic rose jock creation. it's imperative it will continue. I would see this as adjustment for quality for social goodness in factional. For the last i would say two. Three years has been a lot of talk about she about diversity and i would see this as highlighting the s within the es gsi rights sustainability when we make investments now we need to consider increasing lay is good for society but what does it mean for. Quality is a good for the next generation. Now what would regulators think about these type of industries and it is imperative that we actually factor that in when we look at sectors industries and companies. So i think as market calms down by the way. We're starting to see a bit of that happening already. There will be renewed interest into the markets. And it's probably not a bad thing for the valuations to the adjusted because it was actually getting pretty hefty. I would say in the in the last call. Eighteen months so the market is beginning to digestive at this point and turtled looking ahead absolutely. Thanks so much for giving us. This insight stephanie. We appreciate you joining the program. Thanks a lot. Allison is a real pleasure when now turn to a shock you abuse who has collided. Emerging markets equities and procrustes afaat a fixed income portfolio manager to discuss the regulatory impact on equities and fixed income markets but shock and critique. Welcome to the program. So i start having us so. We just spoke with stephanie. About the impact of china's regulatory moves on private investor flows. What's public investors sentiment looking like in the wake of these developments and bassac your investor in china on the equity side. So maybe you can give us a sense of.

I'd like you to comment about and that is On the fair lending ron and it looks to me like the cfp noted honda and red lining issues. Can you summarize those issues for us. Chirp and again we. We're not seeing anything really surprising here. So it's no secret that the cfc's interested in honda compliance and had a number of enforcement actions in fact related to to compliance and here. The bureau simply noted that found widespread era errors in the hunga loan application registers of various financial institutions. And basically said these were due to flaws or deficiencies in those institutions compliance management systems. And so it's just you know it underlines once more how important it is to get those hunter reporting files accurate and the fact that we know that the cfpb will look at the accuracy of those and test them on a transaction by transaction basis during supervisory exams. You know that in fact has led to a lot of the enforcement activity that we've seen on huddah on by the cfpb. So you know it's the same. Kevin yeah i mean we just feels like we've just wrapped everything up at least from the high school level and now we're bailing right back into this thing. What are you see here. Well let's let's start first with let's start for at the high school level. Dorian mcgarity headed to see us you. Yeah that's kind of a fun little bit of news before the season gets our door. I mean that we can this summer where they've been able host camps if you just kinda crews twitter you just take tons and tons of local kids Have been at the camps and many of them have have gotten offers at those camps. "It's not necessarily a penalty risk but it's a risk of not being able to sell your car particularly like a pig pickups as you'll be so those with more higher fuel consumption and this means that v. credits have been sold and traded right so they've companies are in a deficit and they want to get credits to cover their their deficit. They can buy from other manufacturers. You do. We have an indication of either how this works or even the price for buying the credits. I think versus the prizes still. The president is still fare limited. I because china doesn't really have a like a fine which kind of serve as a price ceiling for for the maximum level of the credit or the maximum of the baillieu petted. So that means a lot of automakers. Right now i actually negotiating the price off the table so rather than entering a into like a feed or accent auction we do because a back in two thousand nine hundred in twenty nine hundred twenty two thousand eight there has been an over supply of credits in the market which translate into probably lower credits for lower value for credit for however we do see that because there is a supply of the credit has been decreasing because of their strength target and that will kind of help by the price so some of the report or some of the article suggested that beckon twenty one thousand nine price per credit around forty to seventy dollars for credits and now it increased to over two hundred dollars which is still a relatively low compared to other markets etc. Relatively low seems high to me. Well we we do expect as the supplies of the credits decreases. The price of per credit will definitely be going up in the next years and even probably double the current level so that could be expensive prospect for manufacturers that are in deficit so once again pushing for more actual vs to be sold in the market. Okay so we're going to take a quick break and when we come back we're going to talk about what this all means for manufacturers both foreign and domestic in china what this means for their sales in that market. Stay with us okay. Let's talk about who's active in china and who's actually having to be concerned about these any v. credits and the afc. Can you tell us a bit about who the foreign and domestic players are in the chinese auto market. A little helps to look down to both the ice vehicle market but also give you mark. I think for ice vehicle market that a lot of the foreign manufacturers are still dominating china's the american General motors motors and they stole through their chinese joint. Ventures before evening market is mostly local particularly like b. y. t. or the excetera but there's also increasing number of either the foreign companies as well as kind of pure it'd be players like tests have been actively selling e visa in china for both the credits under few consumption. Cfc credit positions so a lot of the foreign on. International automakers Those wagon they sell a lot of ice vehicles in china. That museums have a huge credit deficit in terms of those credits. But also the cfc credits on the other side Small domestic manufacturers that byu and because they have a large portfolio or dvd's in their total sales and they got both surplus for envy credits and cfc credits. Domestic automakers tend to have more credits or they have a surplus of Credits so my initial thought on that was that okay. So sounds like vw. Might wanna rush to get it. I d three or electric vehicle into that market to offset. It's ice sales. Is that kind of what we're seeing happening or are they buying credits from other manufacturers. Yeah totally i think..

I would be afraid to be careful when you can't want something more for somebody than they want it for themselves so if somebody wants to get better they're gonna they're going to get better and then you can just support them through it and you still get to support them in the ways that you can't but i wouldn't know how to think she's she's saying i mean she says she can't really seek Dr because affected her vision. She has brain damage. You think about this when you really look at it. You say you know what i was. I was skateboarding. And i broke my leg. Some people will go back to escape. You know what. Tony Bobulinski, Hunter Biden and China
"The Wall Street Journal has a couple of reports detail in the rest of the sort of Bob Belinsky story one. The headlines has. Hunter Biden, Sex business partner alleges Father knew about venture, however. Corporate records reviewed by The Wall Street Journal show no record for Joe Biden. According to The Wall Street Journal. The Biden campaign denied that Joe had any involvement in this Chinese venture with this oil company or stood to gain by it. Belinsky said he was rankled by Joe Biden's public statements. He never discussed the international business activities of Hunter and other family members. He also cited nearly $5 million in payments. A Senate Republican report last month said that C E F C made $200 law firm has another reason to come forward. Jablonski said he took part in the meeting with Hunter, Joe Biden and Joe Biden's brother, James Biden in L. A in 2017 when they discussed the Biden family business plans with the Chinese, of which Joe Biden was plainly familiar, at least at a high level. Biden campaign spokesman didn't immediately respond to a question about the alleged meeting with Bob Belinsky, James Biden and attorney for Hunter. Biden didn't respond to requests for comment. And then they, of course issued from the campaign. This blanket denial. Text messages and emails related to the venture that were provided to the journal. Bye Bye. Belinsky, mainly from the spring and summer of 2017 Don't show either Hunter Biden or James Biden discussing a role for Joe Adventure. Mr Gillie are is one of the partners told the Journal. I'd like to clear up any speculation that former VP Biden was involved with the 2017 discussions about our potential business structure. I'm unaware of any involvement in any time of the former VP the activity in question it never delivered any project revenue. Which sounds like maybe just maybe the project was on the road, and then it sort of fell apart. Kimberley Strassel has report over The Wall Street Journal on this She says. That Bible in skis text message just show he was recruited for the project by that James Gillies. Our character, 100 associate, Delia explains in December 2015 text, there will be a deal between the Chinese and what one of the most prominent families from the United States a month later he introduces Rob Walker, also a partner of Biden in March, 2016 Gilyard told Bob Belinsky, the Chinese entity was C E F C Which was shaping up to be the Goldmans of China. Meeting Goldman Sachs. Earlier promise that's a month to develop the terms of the deal with Hunter at this point, Joe Biden, of course, was still vice president. Is the deal began to take shape in 2017 by Belinsky began to question 100 would contribute. Besides his name and worried he was quote kicked out of the U. S Navy for cocaine use. Killer acknowledged skill sets it missing and observed that Hunter has a few demons. He explained that in brand 100 is imperative, but right now he's not essential for adding input. Hunter was hardly visible through most of the work until final negotiations ramped up in mid May, he brought in his uncle Jim Biden for a steak hunter in Texan emails wanted offices in three U. S. Cities, significant travel budgets of statement for Jim a job for an assistant and more frequent distributions of any gains. And, of course, he explained, he wanted a hell of a lot more than 100 $50,000 per year because his ex wife would nearly take all of it. Hunter repeatedly made clear that his contribution was his name. He railed at Bob Belinsky that the CFC heads are quote coming to be my partner to be partners with the Bidens even remind him that in this instance only one player holds the Trump card in its me may not be fair, but it's the reality because I'm the only one putting on and putting an entire family legacy on the line. Abiding claims he never discussed his son's business. But of course there was that made 2017 expectations letter, including that 10% for quote unquote, the big guy in one text, 100 said, quote my chairman given emphatic, no toe a version of the deal. Bye. Belinsky suggested that the chairman referred to Joe Biden. Deal fell through on the Chinese and in the summer of 2017. So is it possible that Hunter was freelancing? He was going around that that Joe had spent years basically patting me on the head telling me to go pick up bags of cash if you could help him And then now Joe's out of office and 100 want help Mount. He was freelancing and every so often you'd run something my job. Certainly possible certainly plausible. Is it true that Joe Biden while he was VP? Probably knew what Hunter was up to. Yeah, that is, that is probably true. Okay, So here's the problem. Nobody. The media wants to talk about this story at all. They don't find it interesting or fascinating at all that you're Biden has throughout his career engaged in sort of the low level corruption that many public officials do. Reckoning, sweetheart mortgages and that sort of thing. Well, or at least a sweetheart land deal from from people who are interested in some of the legislation on the table when he was in the Senate. And NPR put out an actual statement before the Nile before the denial from the Biden campaign. Here's what NPR's public editor said. Quote. We don't want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories. We don't want to waste listeners and readers time on stories that are just pure distraction. As unbelievable that is a taxpayer funded journalistic institution, openly declaring that they simply will not engage, but they're not interested whatsoever in the story preemptively. To the media. I mean, so all this is the lead up to their bait, right? The media are obviously and clearly on the side of Joe Biden, which means that the debate the stakes are really high. Because now this is basically the last chance. For Trump to set the table for Trump to change the topic from Trump to shifted course of the race. The members of the media again. It wasn't just NPR. Many members of the media were over and over, declaring that the hunter by the story was not, in fact a story. They kept a clean without any evidence whatsoever that it was Russian disinformation.
Conversation With Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson
"Delighted to welcome. To our program, a very important guests at this unbelievably strange time from the Mountain West Conference Commissioner Craig Thompson Commissioner thank you very very much for making the time I I, I can only imagine what your schedule is like. These days especially Zoom Bill Assuming there is one good afternoon. Paul good to be with you. You know I hope to mode no more about The next ninety minutes to two hours I have a four o'clock board calling five o'clock standing Monday de call, so we all compare notes and Kinda live by that old adage. God gave us two ears and one off for a reason, right? We're trying to learn from each other. Well we appreciate you making time I'm curious before we get down to some of the obvious questions Since, this occurred you. You've been very obviously active in in the NCAA, basketball tournament, having chaired the the men's basketball committee, and it all started there, and and I know in in your many many years is as commissioner. You've experienced so much but How do you? How do you prepare yourself for something like this? which is literally off the charts. Really is and you know again you don't because. no-one there might have been a few people worldwide They'd be well into their hundreds that were around nineteen eighteen. Spanish flu days, but For the most part, nobody's dealt with any of this Paul. So it's all new, and and it's It's disconcerting. It's hard. It's sad, but it's It's life and it's something we. We have to adjust to and and moved from. In as you get closer to what are really critical decisions, other conferences have made these choices many have not What what do you weigh as you're about to go onto? Another call here how how do you determine these things? Well, it's really got to beat a the safety and the health soccer you I think it's simply going to come down to what is the risk tolerance for for all the various groups just within our FBI subdivision and certainly there's. A rank and file and differences between the autonomous five leaks and a group of five leaks, but You've got you've got. A ton of governors. There's fifty state governors in that up BS group, one hundred thirty board of trustees, regions, one hundred thirty university presidents and Chancellors hundred thirty athletic directors under thirty head, football coaches, and I guarantee it dollar on the same page, and so you know we're. We're just trying to adjust on what makes the most sense for my university and ultimately our conferences. And everyone has a different set of circumstances as you said Commissioner Thompson but. It is late I think you know that we all we all know that. As you are about to go on these calls here in the next hour or two How do you start narrowing the window and coming to? Conclusions! Well we all kind of went into that false pretense and hope that fans should be better in July and August and we had time right back in March. We had four months to figure this out when we've got probably less than four weeks. A couple of weeks a big date coming up on Friday with you know the the six week period starting extended team practices, and then most camps opening somewhat in that August seventh time friend I! I had a good exchange with one of our head. Football coaches today saying you know I don't even know what to do. Because of campus regulations and concerns, we have one institution that's had nearly one hundred football players for little over a month. Now Paul and we have another institution that literally has no football players, conditioning of or working out degree, and so you know we're all over the map based on a local and university, muncipality rules and regulations and. I said this for months gone on standby. One of one of the big concerns and focal points for us is the state of California They just announced today that they're going to delay. The start of their prep season suggested until December or January didn't give an exacting, and they join a couple of states that the prep seasons have been canceled altogether one of our states New Mexico, so just just trying to deal with all the nuances and differences in rules, policies and allowances. As you as you try to deal with with some some issues before that certainly, the non-conference issues a lot of non conference. Games have been scrubbed. I. Has that been a major issue for you or Were you in reasonably good shape. Well it is a big issue, and of course years of all years. This is our twenty seven season A. We had more home games against PAC twelve than any time in our previous 21-year-history, we lost home games. Ucla at both. San Diego State ally. Utah, Colorado Washington state calendars on a state. They were GONNA play at the new two billion dollar NFL stadium in Las Vegas against UNLV so a lot of people like to point to that financial loss of losing the the six road at twelve games and a and a guarantee. Those seven home games from from both of financial interest level, and then ultimately you know television perspective CBS. Fox Aren't real thrilled. You know that we lost those seven home games. Talking to the Commissioner of the Mountain West Craig Thompson discussing all the variables. Commissioner. We. We've talked to so many different commissioners over these past few months, and as you as you so eloquently pointed out a minute ago. Everyone has a different set of circumstances and challenges you maybe more than than most because of the geographical aspect. But how do you think and it shouldn't be that hard to think about it since it's not far off? How how do you ultimately come up with what you would say? Good solution, not only for your member institutions, but for the safety of the athletes. Well again. You not to lean on your medical people and that's one of the. Major aspects of this board call coming up in an hour, so Paul because It's the first time that they in a while. They've heard directly from the the medical advisory group and you know they don't depend on them. You know they. They are the experts, will we? The board are economists and Then different walks of life. They're not medical people, per se, and so you know you really have to lean heavily on what makes sense I. I said four months ago and I I contend today. A lot of this is going to be perhaps probably triggered by what happens on our campuses. What they look like in the next month or so you know everybody's either hybrid mostly online You know there's GonNa. Be Certainly people walking around campus, but you know you. You really can't expect to have a college athletics if you don't have a fairly open in some degree. Campus. Commissioner I, it's no secret Wherever conferences are located and and and spread that football pays the majority of the bills there. There's some outliers of course but What's at stake you just from a revenue standpoint? Well you know. Let's all kinds of figures in I I know that A couple of our department said have lost Well in excess of ten million dollars now, and then could jump into without football alum Paul you know double and triple, and you know those are not insignificant numbers. They're smaller than the world. You live in I lived in Atlanta. For four years. New Orleans for twelve years both children born in New Orleans and well versed in an SEC football, and what it means in a walk of life, and so it's different, no question it's different I live in Colorado and and what it's like in Western states, but but none the less. You, do not escape whatever love your Ad. That football is probably that you know eighty eighty five percent of of an athletic budget, and and so it's so very important, but you know as harmful as painful rather as it is from the financial perspective now that cannot be the driving force won't be the driving force. It will be that the health and safety it'll be university decisions. You know I've always. Always felt. The presidents of universities and chances have an extremely difficult position now more so than ever because they're pushed him pulled in and all these different directions and you know I. Don't know how the decision will. Ultimately made would fall looks like from terms of football. I don't know who makes that decision, but Hopefully they'll be some clobbering collective. Let's let's go right to the College Football playoff. Can you even imagine a world where pick a number? Three conferences can play in the fall and seven up to play in the spring. What happens to see a p.? Is there a CFP? Does that make sense to have a CFP? I guess it might depend on those three conferences are and I use. You know you, you're GONNA have to look at this for for the good of everybody, and and you know the collaboration and collective exchange and we've seen conferences. Do things unilaterally I mean as a commissioner. You Work for twelve schools. You don't work for honored thirty FBI schools, and so you're doing what's right, and what's your membership is is directing and advise you to do, but we do have to get together and get the same page in some regards spor for the sake of the CFD for instance and the bowl system. I know at least I'm told in talking to your colleagues commissioners. We wind down. I know you've got a lot of meetings to that. You are a collaborative group. I mean that's a fact. I mean we see that all the time but it but I wonder though. Because we've already seen some some. Some schisms as we had the big ten, and then everyone else said something else I mean the PAC twelve and the big ten, and do you. Are you concerned about the stability of of what you do every day and try to work with everyone else within the framework of college athletics. I am and I'm not I mean again. We try to work together, but at the end of the day our plan for fourteen or ten members, order media have will dictate. What direction are leagues go and I know the NCAA takes a ton of shots, but the NCAA is membership driven. It's schools that are that are ultimately making decisions and the conferences the exact same way, so you know we can compare but I. I am concerned about The postseason college football, the the CFC's a five hundred million dollar enterprise NCAA. Basketball Championship is a six hundred million dollars in a prize number of conferences of two hundred and fifty to three hundred million dollar annual TV, contracts, and and we can't go ten I don't well. Yeah, anything's possible. You could go ten separate ways I. certainly don't think it's going to be that way at the end of the day. Commissioner will let you get back to your meetings, but thank you for making time. It was just a pleasure to to hear your perspective as someone who is so well respected. And revered in this industry we be well and let's hope for some good news. Stay safe yourself my friend.

The future of phone use is group chat and messaging
"The future of phones is chat and messaging and plain old texting is not going to cut it from American public media. This is marketplace. Tech demystifying the digital economy, I'm Ali would. Messaging is the future of smartphones. And I don't mean plain old texting. I mean things like what's up and apples, I message apps that let you send videos group chat. See when someone is typing and gifts and animations China's we chat is the ultimate messaging dream, a service that lets its users do all of that, and shop and make payments and order food delivery. That's all what Facebook wants to become with its new plan to combine all of its messaging platforms, but most people are still just texting and that technology needs. An upgrade one possibility is our CS rich communication services, which would bring fancy chat features to the texting app on everyone's phone. Sam Barker is a lead analyst following mobile at juniper research. He says we might still use. What's apper message to chat with friends, but our CS is a huge business opportunity when it comes to, you know, to pay to pay a traffic. But everyone uses I think the operators who mice conceded that. What's up other that they're going to get that back? You'll be very, very difficult to the winning comes to the business messaging side of things the consumers and the enterprises engaging their customers. That's where operators will succeed and to the appropriate is to make all CSS. He big quizzes as SMS's now through the, the native mess JEAN CLAUDE on small foot. Okay. So I would just interact with the brand directly. I would do my shopping, I would maybe get my customer support, but it does seem like, really the future phone. Use is going to be messaging in some form, not so much mobile web or apps. Even exactly we've seen, you know, users migrate from online browsing to in-app browsing and the next step. So this will be all CFC when be a case of having a dedicated up per Brander enterprise. It'll be a single app, you use with multiple contacts is much of the same way you have a new you'll app now, the, the they'll be contacting the lousy to does he connect with, with the brand new an enterprise. You. Need to contact them? I unfortunately they come be able to contact you. That's one of the, the key requisites in the standards for all CS from then, then on you, can you can register in the same way would do out and have the same functionality. I love that. I like how you say, unfortunately they cannot contact me. I as a consumer, I'm great with that.

"An industrial chemical damaging the earth's. Ozone layer has been increasing in the atmosphere in Paris. Christopher Joyce tells us scientists believe it's coming from eastern China. What's at stake on the field in the 2018 Heineken Rivalry Week
"We start with MLS because there is some mid week action and it's prominent midweek action because JJ this is rivalry week. Yes, Wednesday, seven o'clock, a nice Wednesday night, New York Darby to look forward to. I love it NYC FC and the red bulls navy each one one against each other. So far this season next Morales scored pretty late on the last time that they met to spoil Chris Armas first Darby between these two, typically the red bull's eye. I'm very curious about this game because I feel like both teams are pretty good and then wide CFC I feel like we're starting to see greater. Aspirant's from them on a grander scale, although they're coming off a loss at the weekends. Both teams may be hitting this game in an interesting time. Now, here's the one real quick that I, we haven't talked a lot about this, but now things are starting to happen. So I did want to get your thoughts, Thursday, seven o'clock, Chicago fire and Columbus Crew. And this has nothing to do with the game. But sadly, it's starting to feel more and more like an inevitability that the crew are going to be leaving. Columbus. The Austin city council passed a vote of seven to four for the building of a soccer specific stadium in the northern part of the city. And so now I guess JJ it comes down to this. If you give me a sec here, I'm going to read from something I saw on deadspin. They did a whole feature on this. This is from the article in deadspin.
