"Of 2020, Luis Shah was thinking a lot about the pandemic. But not our pandemic. The influenza pandemic of 1918. Because Luis a curator of the CDC museum, and an early 2020, she was getting ready for an exhibit on how the 1918 pandemic shaped science and society. But then news started circulating at the CDC. News about a brand new virus. One called COVID-19. And that was when they had to change their plans. By early March 2020, it was really clear that we had to get on top of it. And it has been so different from anything that we have collected and documented in the past. The collection at the CDC museum, it's like a time capsule of every public health crisis that's happened in the last century. Take, for example, the polio exhibit. Wander over there, and you'll see a big hulking iron lung. Which is wonderful mayonnaise Barton Apia lived in for over 40 years. That, I think, is a crowd favorite. Then there's a glass jug filled with this noxious looking yellow water. And that water comes from the Bellevue Stratford hotel in Philadelphia. In 1976, bacteria in that hotel's HVAC system caused an outbreak of a mysterious respiratory illness at a convention of the American legion. The disease was dubbed legionnaires disease. The legionella branch had a big gallon jug of this killer water and we finally talked them out of it and we have it on display at the museum. And I say it's priceless, but it has no value at all. There's also exhibits on the obesity epidemic in the United States. And on the health impacts of secondhand smoking. And I do want to do a shout out for a smallpox eradication collection. We have probably the most stellar smallpox eradication collection anywhere. You can even try on a hazmat suit if that's the kind of thing that strikes your fancy. I mean, come on. But it's one thing to track down an old iron lung or charm your colleagues out of a murky jug of water years after the crisis has abated. It's something else entirely to collect artifacts from a pandemic, you're currently living through. We were doing a rapid response collecting kind of approach that we were trying to collect materials in real time. But rapid response collecting is a little bit like asking curators to peer into a crystal ball. You have to predict what objects people in the future will really connect with. Which ones will help them really understand what it was like to live through this crisis? So when reports about COVID-19 first started coming in, Luis sprang into action and cast a wide net. In early 2020, when a cruise ship called the diamond princess, had an outbreak on board, the museum approached first responders and quarantine passengers, and asked them, hey, do you have anything for us? In response, they got passenger correspondence, even a copy of a diary. And when CDC artists created the first medical illustration of the SARS CoV-2 virus, the museum nabbed one of the 3D models that they worked from. And of course, there was one object in particular that soon became a really big deal. One that reminded Luis a lot of 1918. There was the whole issue in 1918 about masking and there were mass shortages. So the Red Cross were doing like these events where it was women that joined together to make masks. Sounds familiar. Flash forward to the PPE shortages in the spring of 2020, and Americans are once again breaking out their sewing machines. And the museum made sure to collect some of those homemade masks. And as the CDC also rushed to certify the safety of new companies that wanted to manufacture N95 masks, the museum stashed away some of those that passed the CDC's muster. Luis says museum's first realized that they needed a rapid response collecting strategy after September 11th. Like people would put up a fly or have you seen my son or you have seen my mother, those kinds of things. And they were collecting the teddy bears at the sites. And it's a kind of collecting ephemera that if you don't collect it right at the moment, it might disappear. In 2014, the CDC museum put this new rapid response collecting into action with the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. And they knew they wanted to tell a story that was bigger than just the CDC's role. They wanted to represent all of the different perspectives in this collection that they were building, including artifacts from the community and religious leaders who stepped up to help fight the Ebola virus. We had aman and administer that actually shared copies of their Quran in the Bible that was mocked up with passages that documented why it was okay to have safe burial practices that were being recommended quarantine procedures. I will say in Ebola exhibit that was probably the most popular section of the entire exhibit. Included was a healer's bottle donated by the Sierra Leone indigenous traditional healers union. And it's wrapped with threads and cowry shells and was used to wash hands. The items showed that it wasn't enough for health officials just to promote safe practices. The messages also had to come from people who were trusted in their own communities. Rumors were an incredible issue in West Africa at the time, particularly early in the epidemic. Some people thought Ebola wasn't real. There was all sorts of things like, you know, this was purposeful, you know, people drinking bleach. That sounds sort of familiar, doesn't it? With the torrents of misinformation around COVID-19. The museum has had no trouble finding these kinds of artifacts to add to its collection. Things like anti vaccine posters. You might even say some of these artifacts come to them. Occasionally we'll have protesters in front of CDC and we have collected their materials. And they're sort of.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Attacked by Media Over COVID Vaccine Claims

"As she a headline last night on mediaite, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. makes nutso claim to Tucker Carlson that the COVID vaccine appears to be killing more people than all vaccines combined. Here's what Robert F. Kennedy said on yesterday's Tucker Carlson today that streams on Fox nation. There have been 17,000 as reported to theirs on the COVID vaccines. And that's more in the last 8 months than all of the from all vaccines, the billions and billions of vaccines combined over the past 30 years. Of this vaccine appears to be killing more people than all vaccines combined. There's more reports of vaccination. The beast revs up when they hear that they say that's a nut so claim. That's a wacky claim. That the COVID vaccines have led to 17,000 deaths reported to VAERS that's more than just 8 months more deaths than all vaccines, the billions and billions of vaccines combined over the past 30 years. And I'm thinking, well, that's significant, you know? That's something people have to ponder, right? No, no, no. The beast says you may not. That's a crazy wacky claim. The article at mediaite says the anti vaxx Kennedy who claims he is not anti vax, cited the CDC's frequently misunderstood vaccine adverse event reporting system known as VAERS. To back up his claim. The article says Tucker Carlson himself has touted numbers from VAERS when discussing the apparent death rate from coronavirus vaccines on his show. Well, media I talked to some health guys some doctor whether this Tucker Carlson's claim about Varys is accurate. The answer was it's not accurate. There's was intended to cast a wide net to capture any possible or potential complication that even has the remotest possibility of being related to the vaccine. Any adverse event is considered reportable. Now, I'm like, so they're saying, don't believe you're lying eyes. Well, we're casting a wide net. Oh, you mean like calling a car accident, a COVID death? If the person in the ER who dies, has COVID in their system because that's what they've done. You mean like that? Okay. I get it. I guess they do that. But what if half the number that's been reported to VAERS is right. What if 8000 have died or 9000? I mean, why is that a nutshell claim?

They're the left wing writers write about me in the daily mail. According to the latest data from the CDC fewer than 700 Americans under the age of 18 have died from the virus. Since recording began in April 2020. Only 206 of them being under the age of 5. It's not a lot. And I'm not even sure I'd like to know about the 700 under 18. I would really like to know, did they die of COVID or with COVID? By the way, I'd like to know that about all the numbers the 750,000 did they die? With COVID, which or of COVID? After formal demand, and I saw the formal demand. It's a freedom of information act demand. After formal demand the CDC concedes it does not have proof of a single instance of a naturally immune individual spreading the virus. I saw it. It's so incredible this piece of news, and of course it won't be reported in denying media. That was the truest thing that Donald Trump said in his four years. And he said, many true things, by the way, the lying media is like its treatment, remember, what was that Catholic boy's name in Washington, D.C.? Anyway, remember that the Catholic boy? This written house is really chapter another chapter in that, or like the white, the white lacrosse players at duke. The media lie to you that every day by omission or co mission. They lied about me. The Committee to Unleash Prosperity's Phil Kerpen on the Inhumanity of America's Child Masking Policies

"Welcome back to one on one with the cofounder of the committee to unleash prosperity, Phil cur pin. Phil, you've been very, very charitable to the interpretations of certain so called health policies coming out of the federal government. Does the charitable interpretation is it plausible? Can it be extended over every aspect and I'll focus on one right now? So maybe herd immunity was they want to encourage people not to protect themselves what have you. But when it comes to children, I find it very difficult to see a charitable interpretation for anything we've seen. You've mentioned it yourself. The incredibly low figures. Of children who aren't sick with something else, the conclusion is if you look at the statistics, they're basically immune. They don't catch it or if they do, they don't even realize it, and they get over it. So kids are not vulnerable. Instead, they have to wear masks everywhere on planes in schools. I walk past this little pre-K every morning. Drives me insane. The kids are outside in the sandpit playing with bloody marks on its child abuse. And now we have the. Well, we've got the new vaccines and you can do it to 5 year olds next. This is science denial. They say conservatives in our science. But if they're basically immune, then why are we asking why are we vaccinating? Is there thusly is there a charitable interpretation for what the CDC will walensky what Fauci? What school administrators are doing? I don't really have a charitable interpretation on that. I think it's been outrageous. Look, I mean, you know, it's not zero risk for children, nothing in this world is, but it is normal. Children, it is no dangerous for children than any other respiratory virus. And so if we are going to subject children to this disruption to all of these interventions, then logically they would be permanent. There's no luck. There's no logical endpoint because they were never at any more than normal risk. And we've been much worse than this regard than the vast majority of the world. There are some other countries that mask down to age 6, which I think is outrageous. Countries like France and Italy and Spain go down to age 6. Nobody goes down to H two, except us, maybe Japan and Korea. But no one no one in the

"For those who only believed the cdc who only live and die by the cdc's data their latest numbers as reported yesterday at five pm was the weekly update. This is what they're showing for zero to seventeen deaths. Three hundred and sixty one all deaths involving cove at nineteen nineteen zero to seventeen so three hundred sixty one which is does affect the percentage rate that we talked about. I opened the show of point. Six seven percent so not really moving the needle there too much but some interesting points about cdc data. We really rail on that on the show sometimes because some of it is is somewhat questionable with the limitations. They use for their studies but very rarely hasn't been. This outright was what happened in florida. Recently let's look at some of the headlines to really start this story out so florida's rise it says florida's still breaking records for daily cova cases single day high reaches twenty eight thousand three hundred seventeen. I guess that'd be definitely a newsworthy. Another one cdc. Florida hit single day high for cova cases. Well there was problem there. And let's be clear you're right. I mean it's obviously administration. The biden administration wants to beat on. Florida wants to beat on texas. Because these are the governor's that are saying no. I'm sorry we're not having it. We're not asking we're not locking down. We're not gonna force vaccinations to get into restaurants. Go ahead and spin on that. And that's pissing off the administration who then reaches out to their lackeys at cnn msnbc and say push the fear focus on florida focus on texas so so what happened with those numbers. Yeah the the very the very same people telling us. This isn't about politics and not to politicize. This pandemic appear to be doing exactly that. So the florida department of health actually had to reach out and take to twitter to defend itself. This is what they wrote. They said wrong again. The numbers of cases at cdc gov released for florida today is incorrect. They invite. They can buy multiple days into one we anticipate. Cdc will correct the record. And that was the florida department of health responding to the south florida sun. Sentinel's reporting. So here's here's the outcome of that. They actually the cdc actually did have to adjust that and the headline florida officials slam. Cdc over botched corona virus data. Says here the cdc record at twenty thousand three hundred seventeen new cases of cove in nineteen until the florida department of health. Notice that there was nearly double the actual number in its records which showed about fifteen thousand cases the cdc agreed to meet the department in the middle and revise the number to nineteen thousand after reportedly ruling several days worth of numbers into one. So that's how we do data these days. I guess if the cdc is like a poker game right like all right. I'm all in no a bet. You twenty five dollars up the pot just a little bit. Can we meet half way. It's like a negotiation buying a house for something crazy. And since since we're on cdc and data and talking points people may remember the director show. Wolinsky came out a couple of weeks ago. And this talking point the pandemic we're in a pandemic of the unvaccinated. This was this was repeated over all of the media's repeated by believe the biden administration of the white house. Everybody was talking about this. It was the buzzword of the week. Well this article really breaks it down in a concise way and i'm gonna pull some quotes from this because it it's pretty. It's pretty powerful. So the article actually is the title says will americans accept no fly list for unvaccinated. That's another thing that's being attempted. And it says in here. The narrative that we've that we're in a pandemic of the unvaccinated was created by using statistics from a time period when the us as a whole was largely unvaccinated. When you look at more data the trend is swing in the opposite direction. January first twenty twenty one only point five percent of the us population had received a kovic shot. By mid april. An estimated thirty one percent had received one or more shots and as of june fifteenth. Forty eight point. Seven percent were fully vaccinated. End quote it goes on and say the. Cdc has also pointed out that you were only that you are not considered fully vaccinated until two weeks after your second dose in the case of pfizer or moderna which is given six weeks after your first shot. This means that if you receive your first dose on june first you won't be quote fully vaccinated until eight weeks later around august. I really wrap your head around that without saying there. It's very very powerful information. And so all the data that we've been hearing two weeks ago. Pandemic of the unvaccinated is all data. That came from what between april and june or all way back in those times. That will happening yeah. It appears to be saying basically that they are quoting people air saying people that were unvaccinated. Where people that have either had one dose or receive two dose. But it wasn't after that it wasn't after that two weeks where they consider the antibodies to really kick in. So i it seems to be like a statistical word game here that they're playing and the data was before really the full the full explosive. Roll out of these vaccines in the us. That basically vaccinated about fifty percent of the people. We're going to start being on this a little bit more and especially next week. We've been working on a really bombshell. Show that we'll be talking about but you know when we hear about the unvaccinated. I wanna say one thing. You better be unvaccinated. It is really uncool to put people that got one shot got covert and died into the unvaccinated category and people. They got two shots. But we're still inside of their two weeks. You know what. I'm sorry you're not unvaccinated. You want that title. You want to join that group. Then you don't get the vaccine at all and cdc cannot get away with this. I don't care if you wanna call them partially vaccinated but this is a total lie if you want to speak out against being unvaccinated then make sure the people you're talking to really didn't get any of your shots. It's not right. I mean we don't especially if this product is we think it is his lowering your immune system. Of course you're getting covered more often to that first shot and after the second shot and those sort of early weeks it's incredible that those people get lumped into the unvaccinated and then you know collecting data before the time line. We're in all of this. I mean it's just every day we wake up. we're calling each other jeopardy. I'm like you know what point do. They just concede this this battle. I feel like i'm in a baseball game or my son's at a baseball game. We're ahead like thirty two one at some point you just get to forfeit this game. We won this. You're done there. There's players on the team to pull this out at this point. You like that clip and be sure to check out our live broadcast of the high wire every thursday morning at eleven. Am pacific time. "Now that's question as to whether dr elements is actually looking out for my best house. And that's been hard because that's always been that's how trains thank you very insightful. And you know since you brought up the recent decision to revise mask guidelines for vaccinate people. Can you walk us through one. It was that you and others the cdc started to reconsider the guidelines. And how it was that you ultimately came to the decision to revise them again. Yeah absolutely so maybe we should remind him may there was an enormous pressure for vaccinated people to be able to do things that they wanted to get back to doing so in terms of what we needed at the time to say it was possible scientifically to take off your mask. We needed to be able to say that the vaccine's worked like they did in clinical trials winging to say that they were working against the variants. We had here in the united states. And we needed to demonstrate that. If you happen to be a breakthrough infection that the vaccine worked such that you wouldn't be able to transmit and when we saw that level of evidence in all three of those areas back in may is when we said okay. It's okay for people who were vaccinated to take off their masks. It's working against the strings. We have here in terms of severe disease. And if even if you are breakthrough you're probably not going to give it to somebody else around the same time. The cdc took another step that surprised. Many the agency announced it would stop. Keeping track of how many vaccinated people were contracting cova. What's known as breakthrough cases. Sarah ask dr wolinsky about that decision. One of the criticisms we've heard has been around why the cdc decided to stop tracking infections..

"Me basically saying on the one hand get vaccinated folks so that you cannot go back to living a normal unmasked life are aren't they just sort of saying on one able you have to get vaccinated and also once you do. Nothing will change. I think the problem is and this is maybe at this point approaching like beating the dead horse territory but the fact that the that the vaccines have not been. Fda approved that they're still considered experimental drugs I think is more of a culprit that gives a lot of people. Ause i think when they when they are trying to for those who are hesitant not those who are ideologically dead. Set against ever letting a needle conquest of their arm but those who are hesitant to say this is. This is all happening very fast. I'm not sure if it's safe. The fda's choice to to you know do an emergency use authorization and not to expedite the process of getting us all the way authorized That is a real conflicting. Message the cdc. I think we can quibble. And i think all of us would with the precise guidance that that it has handed down in the last week or so. But i don't think there's anything wrong with with the cdc saying. Hey things have changed three months ago. There was a different variant. That was circulated in the one that had circulating..

"Important stuff awry. Do not go to the gym masks or no mass that some health guidance. That's my health guidance for y'all today no we don't need the cdc. I think that we do need a trusted body. That could be a clearinghouse for information and perhaps even issue guidance when there are public health crises. The cdc has not been successful and performing that role. Frankly i think bill gates would probably be the most successful in performing that role models right now but you know like a non-profit privately funded attempting to do this function. I actually suspect could significantly better. And i would love to see that. The problem actually academic groups that tried to do some of this last year and they were blocked by the cds. Because the cdc says no only the cdc can do say testing kits can do health advice. In certain cases they have a lock on a lot of the sort of the infrastructure for disease control. Did you just come with a good use for antitrust. Who now this is the classic case of government crowding out private actors classic classic case. It is hard to compete with free. Cdc of course is not free in the sense of actually costing zero dollars. It costs taxpayer dollars Quite a lot of them. I think six point five billion or something like that last year. went in theory to helping communicate about and prevent infectious disease. That did not work. There has been a huge drop in the trust. In the cdc in the last year there was a rand poll In the in the second half of twenty twenty that showed something like ten percent decline at ten percent. Not percentage points in trust in the cdc largely among white republicans. You can speculate all you want about the politics of that and people certainly have but at the very base level. I think the cdc did not do a lot to earn people's trust during those six months and so it is quite right. That many people look their behavior and said you know what. I'm not going to do with these guys anymore anymore. i think in general. This is reflected with real impatience with the idea following the science. And the cdc as the conduit for science itself Both of the links in that chain have broken down and we are now on our own without private actors to back up the cdc. Since as you rightly note they got pushed out of the scene. So speaking of what. Ordinary people think stephanie slate..

"Dot com so want to set up today's discussion with a little bit of background. The history of government public health advice is a history of error from from salt to saturated fats to cholesterol to the food pyramid. The fda and the cdc has issued bad advice based on bad science time and time again. If you grew up in the nineteen eighties like some of the older members of this panel. You probably heard about saturated fats which occur naturally in foods like butter and red meat. And you heard that they were really bad for you. And maybe the trans fats were actually. A healthier alternative idea was backed by the fda in any number of prominent public health organizations that same line of thinking lead people to reduce their ed consumption. Which is crazy because eggs are delicious and to focus more on cholesterol rather than sugar and replace saturated fats with trans fats. Which the fda of eventually decided to strictly limit and regulate because americans were eating too many of them in part because health officials had previously urged food companies to switch from saturated fats to transfats. The same goes for salt which the cdc has obsessed over forever despite scant evidence that it's a major public health problem anything. There's actually some evidence that aren't average. Humans might consume too little salt to science here has often been shoddy with poor an incomplete studies fuelling guidance. That is at minimum mistaken. In many cases leads people to worse and less healthy choices. A couple of salted eggs and fried butter Which full disclosure i eat. Almost every day is pretty tasty breakfast and depending on your particular health needs and requirements. Might even be kinda good for you. It's also the longtime enemy of america's public health bureaucrats which brings us to cova and masks early on in the pandemic the cdc botched the roll out of the cova test kits so badly that they actually had to recall the initial round of testing kits. That failure setback. America's testing efforts. By months leading policymakers effectively. Blind as kovic spread throughout the country government. A public health guidance was initially quite down on cloth masks as well. They said they didn't do much good. And within a couple of months into the pandemic last year there were mask. Mandates all over the country fully supported by government public health experts in may meanwhile of this year just before the delta variant started spreading the cdc stopped tracking breakthrough cases. That's the cases where vaccinated people test positive for covert just in time folks. And just last week the cdc updated which is to say they backtracked on their previous masking guidance which said that which had previously said that vaccinated people do not generally need to wear masks now we have the delta verions which all current evidence seems to indicate is much more transmissible than previous strains of covert and so the cd says that because of that increased transmissibility even vaccinated. Americans should be wearing masks indoors in most parts of the country and that in turn has already led to policy changes including here in washington dc. Where three of today's panelists reside the district of columbia. Last week reinstated. The indoor mask mandate with no exceptions. Except maybe if you're the mayor of washington attending a wedding so at least for the majority of this group the cdc's guidelines aren't guidelines. They are now mandates. Catherine i want to start with you. Live in washington. Dc you are required to mask up next time you go to the gym. You're also an eric s. So big picture do we need the cdc at all. We definitely don't need the gym at all. That's where i want to start first principles..

"Always get full protection from the vaccine. So they're vulnerable to and there's something more here mattie new data suggests that vaccinated people who get infected with the delta variant could transmit it to others here. Cdc director rochelle wolinsky back fascinated. People infected with the delta variants after vaccination may be page and spread the virus to others. This new science is worrisome. And unfortunately warrants an update to our recommendation and she really points out that this is different from previous variants unlike the alpha variant that we had back in may where we didn't believe that if you were vaccinated you could transmit further. I'm this is different now with the delta variant and alison. We should be clear here right. The vaccines are still doing their job. Against the delta variant these vaccines are designed to prevent vaccinated people from getting really sick or dying and they are still doing a stellar job of that. That's absolutely right. These infections and vaccinated people tend to be much less severe especially in otherwise healthy. People symptoms are mostly mild. Some people are as symptomatic. They don't get any symptoms at all now me personally. I don't even want that win. How unpredictable there's viruses but the bear concern here. Mattie is that even if you aren't very sick you could spread the delta very empty others people who are much more vulnerable and they could get sick and die. Plus we've talked about this on the show alah the longer. That cove is circulating in our population. The more likely it is for a variant to emerge. That could beat the vaccine so really everybody has a stake in this. You know it's a good point. I mean a virus cannot mutate if it's not replicating and so as delta circulates and cases rise. We know the viruses trying to outsmart us. Okay l let's dig this guidance a little bit more so the cdc now says if you live in an area with substantial or high spread of the virus everyone should mask up indoors..

"Restrictions for the vaccinated and anything has recommended four months unvaccinated individuals should get fascinated and continue mafeking until they are fully vaccinated in areas with substantial and high transmission. Cdc recommends fully vaccinated people wear math in public. Indoor setting to help prevent the spread of the delta ovarian and protect others. Now i'm there is no evidence that the army the chief method of transmission. And there's all principle here he's again. Any person could theoretically be a transmission. Becker is the same logic that the cdc has been using unmasking of children. Children are not the main transmission for this disease particularly small children and yet the cdc's been recommending. That kids have to get the vaccine. Why because we have to protect the adult teachers were fully capable of getting the vaccine but have decided not to forty percent of schoolteachers. In new york. City have not gotten the vaccine at this point. Why should you mask up. Your three year olds. Who's not going to die from code again. Statistically speaking the chances of child hang our vanishingly low the amazing amount of gas lighting. That is going on with regards these stats. It truly is an amazing thing. I don't think i'm ever gonna get over that clip yesterday from alson. Cammarata and victor blackwell browbeating. "Please consider giving us a glowing five star review on itunes. If you don't like what you hear here please forget. I said anything. So jim jimgeraghty. We're recording early. Tuesday afternoon here and the latest. Cdc guidance is in and it includes yet more masking in response to the delta variant. Would he make it. Oh it's terrible news rich to hell with this. I'm going back occasion. Thanks what's particular to there are two aspects of this. That are really really frustrating. The first is if you are fully vaccinated you got your two shots. Got one shot of johnson johnson. Two weeks a fast as tens of billions more hundreds of million almost one hundred eighty eight million americans have had at least one shots That's not good enough. Apparently they want you to start wearing your masks in indoor locations around lots of other people and if you're around children also the cdc recommendation is that all children should be wearing masks of all ages regardless of their vaccination status when they returned to school in the fall. that's not going to be warmly greeted anywhere Particularly bought by you know fully vaccinated teenagers. Whether or not the cdc in the by the administration wants this to be interpreted as a demonstration of vaccination doesn't change anything there are people out there who say see i told you. Vaccination doesn't change it and the aspect that really jumps out again. This is breaking destroyed before we started taping here Yes need a buthe lab. Who's the health policy reporter for. The washington post says the game changer. For data officials with their review yesterday showing and vaccinated people infected with delta. Have the same viral load. As the unvaccinated vaccinated. People are still far less likely to get seriously sick. But the data suggests they can transmit dealt. Now here's the thing if you're fully vaccinated. Your body is protected from this virus. As you possibly can get the cdc in the by the administration wants you to put on that mask again for all those people out there who are not unvaccinated kids under twelve. Give them past if you're physically. You're allergic to one of the ingredients. In the vaccine health reasons makes it impossible to vaccinate. That's fine but for almost other folks up there who had six to seven months to get themselves. Accident chose not to the. Cdc is telling us but those mass on you have to protect those people who have not been willing to go out and get vaccinated. You know like the forty percent of new york city public education department employees. So jim so why is it so crazy. Pushy here Why so crazy to people mask up to protect other people. Isn't that huge element of of masking. What masking is always been. Yeah but the point is the whole point of vaccinations that once you got this. You're protected and if they're gonna say well. You're not really protecting your protecting. What this does this crisp the the answer to this to get more people vaccinated. The answer is not to put new restrictions on new pains in the neck on people who are already vaccinated. They were the responsible once. This policy is to say. Well the irresponsible people aren't doing what they're supposed to do so we have to put more restrictions on the the behavior of people who are restricted. And by the way if you don't like feel client has just put up something in the corner observing that this seems to him like a smells like a big step towards vaccine passports. Taes joel i made you a little bit of a separate issue bishops ovation. There are probably some poll that says twenty some thirty percent of people who are not vaccinated said they'd be willing to if the fda gave its full final approval fda is given an emergency use authorization for the vaccines they've not given A biologics licensing agreement. Or i think it's the be. La is now. I think it's very strange that the fda has not given it the good housekeeping seal of approval right after you know after one hundred eighty one hundred..

"Immune to lawsuits. Would you go on their roller coasters. Would you go on roller coasters where the owners can't be sued. If all of a sudden it falls apart you go up on that huge roller coaster at six flags that goes up two hundred feet and it drops you all. Y'all drop to your death. Would you do that if you couldn't sue. Would that bother you. Would you eat at restaurants if they are immune to lawsuits of serving food. That was poorly managed. If you found out that certain industries were immune to a check and balance in the courts. Wouldn't that raise a red flag for you. In order to push mass inoculation which very well might have been a good thing or a bad thing. Not for me to say either way. It's just the fact. The congress of the united states decided to protect the vaccination industry from any sort of lawsuit. So you go to cdc dot gov and this is as of today all the sudden. The numbers in the database has skyrocketed by over six thousand overnight. Now we do not know if these are backlogged. Adverse event reporting. We don't know this happened last week. We don't know. But i'm gonna read from our government's website. Cdc dot gov reports of death after the co vaccine are rare. Now let me stop. There is rare. A scientific term rare a by definition subjective term. Rare is to mean anything for anyone. One percent could be rare. Half of one percent could be rare continues by saying during this time. There's the vaccine. Adverse event reporting system has received twelve thousand three hundred and thirteen reports of death among people who received the vaccine. So let me get this straight twelve thousand. Three hundred. Thirteen deaths after getting the vaccine. Now they say that the reports of adverse events do not necessarily mean that the vaccine caused a health problem so that's up for you to decide the causation correlation for example. Who are we to say. That simone the nineteen year old black girl going to north western perfectly healthy. She gets the second dose of modern shot. She dies of a heart complication. Six weeks later normal up for you to decide. Is it normal. That the johnson and johnson vaccine now has new guidance and the federal government that could result in a rare nerve disease. That's up for you to decide. Now we're simply asking questions here but when you dare ask questions against a massive kind of inter institutional strategy you come under unprecedented backlash and so. Here's a question. I'm going to reiterate why all of a sudden this late night sneaky data dump of another six thousand deaths into the vaccine adverse event reporting system. Where did that come from. In nineteen eighty eight is when the vaccine companies received liability protection. Thank you. I'm going to ask this question again. Did six thousand people reported death after the vaccine in the past week alone or is this data dump that they were hiding in that. They're now trying to cover up. So if the vaccine adverse event reporting system shows that there have been twelve thousand deaths after getting the vaccine. The question is what percentage of adverse events are actually reported to theirs is it. High are for example people seeing things that aren't true when it comes to those adverse events is perfect or is it potentially low for example is the number that's been published by the governments. Actually not the whole story. Are there more people that have had adverse events to vaccines that are actually reporting them now. "A lot of Americans Congressman Thomas Massie already had coronavirus and wanted to know if he should still get a covid-19 seem most everyone has had covid-19 is considered immune but how long immunity last is unknown whether it's after infection or vaccination on award winning scientists himself as he quickly found that vaccine studies showed no benefit to people who've had coronavirus vaccination didn't change their odds of getting reinfected. The controversy began when Massey noticed the CDC was claiming the exact opposite cdc's advisory committee on immunization practices had just issued a high-profile report offered by fifteen scientists. It wrongly claimed Pfizer study proved. The vaccine is highly effective or showed consistent High efficacy for people who'd already had coronavirus. Thar's Covey to it says the exact opposite of what the data says. They're giving people the impression that this vaccine will save your life, even or you know save you from suffering even if you've already had the virus and recovered which has not been demonstrated in either the Pfizer or the moderna trial the mystery deepened when Massey contacted CD-ROM for an explanation as he says he was so alarmed by the misinformation he decided to record the calls on a December 16th. Call cdc's Captain Amanda Cohn C ROM Agree that people who've had coronavirus shouldn't rush to get vaccinated. You know given that there's limited doses right now where we are you suggesting that those people who wait for that suggestion to wait has it always gotten out. Should I get the vaccine if I've already had covered it experts say it's a good idea because they're not sure how protected you are after recovering our full measure investigation examined the database reporting illness after covid-19 scenes. It shows numerous people are getting vaccinated even though they've already have the virus some experts say that's depriving others who need the vaccine most health officials in many kids say they don't have enough vaccine. It's happening across the country promised doses not delivered on the call. In fact Massey for flagging they're mistaken claim that vaccines were proven to work for people who've had coronavirus. I think we'd read that way. She'll go down the other stuff. You know, we just skipped right over it with we know we can't be perfect. I mean they're working on this thing will forever after be known at all but legalized. Okay, and they said thank you for finding the mistake. We're going to fix this and I thought well, okay problem solved. This is how government works but it didn't quite turn out that way two days later the same doctor KO nud probes to fix joined other CDC doctors in repeating the false information this time in an online session for medical professionals. They wrongly claimed studies show people who've had coronavirus home do benefit from the vaccine.

"Transmitted by the CDC at the time of this great I'm not sure which health care facility you're speaking about I can't I can't speak to life care I'm talking about the fact that yesterday morning so he found faces now there's four without the possibility of dealt with your life one word so that's a great question I'm I'm happy to address it what prompted us to start looking is the change in the testing criteria so the centers for disease control had recommended testing only for individuals who had a travel history or unknown exposure to someone with covert nineteen Tuesday or so of last week the testing criteria changed and there was a line that included testing for individuals with severe respiratory illness happened no other explanation and no history of travel so was on that basis that we opted to look at two of our most critically ill patients in the in the critical care unit and to initiate a testing algorithm that was started on Thursday night the tests were sent out yesterday we're very grateful for the department of health and now has the testing capacity here rather than having to send it to the centers for disease control in Atlanta and with that information we were able to gain the rapid response I think the fact that there are tests patients now being identified locally has to do with that increased testing capacity and the change in the definition for who can get tested for possible differently last month there's been dozens of places that we just haven't known about I think they're like anything what we're seeing is the tip of the iceberg so we're seeing the most critically ill individuals usually that means there is a significant percentage of individuals of less severe illness floating around out there and yes so in all likelihood there is on going low level transmission we don't have the epidemiologic link to figure out exactly how these individuals were infected hospital do you guys now have warned hearing for somebody who shows up and says like like I might have sure I wanted to keep those separate have you tried any actual changes at a hospital so we have engineering capacity at the hospital to turn half of our critical care unit into an airborne precautions center so basically by reverse engineering air flow we can isolate an entire a portion of the critical care unit the individuals that are under investigation are currently cold hearted and are all in negative on the flow and airborne precautions there are different kinds of people today do you know roughly how many of those are in others all stations so we have a number of tests that have been submitted and we will continue to submit test the department of health lab I they obviously work on their schedule we hope to have those results later today we'll be working with Seattle king county health department once those once that information becomes available yeah I I can't speak for over like we have submitted a number and we have some additional individuals that we're looking at today and evergreen yes thank you Nicole Jennings car radio special financing from most of the people especially the elderly in nineteen fifty five from the flu every year why did you I could take a stab at this and I'll let Dr Duchin a response so that the difference between this coronavirus and influenza a is is first of all it's a novel coronavirus so there is no innate immunity to this it's a completely vulnerable population second is there's no vaccine to prevent it and you know we strongly encourage people even now to go get their flu vaccine because it will still prevent influenza prevent that morbidity and keep you out of the hospital system and the third thing is there is no currently effective antiviral therapy for sars Kobe to October nineteenth so with all of those things it's about a perfect storm for a novel virus to come out without vaccine without population based protection in without an effective therapeutic agent take one or two more questions yes you new numbers now with including all your pieces on the number of cases across the country now we got updated numbers on the CDC had a conference this afternoon where they discussed our new cases and I assume that their web page will be revised to reflect in the numbers that are current here and also in other states that have been changing recently.

"The CDC and seven twenty WGN remembers the life and legacy of male part the drummer from rush considered the greatest drummer of all time is rock and roll drummer of all times I should say obviously there was terms before and you're gonna hear about this in an interview that we did about two hours ago with Max Weinberg also good to run the race drivers of his generation obviously Bruce Springsteen's drummer as well as the current obrien show and we started by asking Max what was Neil Peart's greatest contribution calculable incredible contributions that mail made everybody knows that like strumming likes rush likes progressive music and there are so many male courage stories that illustrate that I knew him in passing legally Fleischer was working with them on a project that I don't think my my track ever came out was called burning for buddy was a tribute to Buddy Rich and you know buddy rich with everybody idolize but he has and Neil of course was very not only local about his love for body it but he's drumming he wrote about it he talked about it all the time we produce this record with buddies daughter Cassie I think it was in nineteen ninety four and you got all the drummers together and everybody did a on the same as bye buddy rich so he was as you know the mail was a writer or a lyricist mazing drummer he always seemed to me from afar to act on his passions and that's pretty evident incredible renaissance type talented guy personal level I I I I can tell you as having I have a couple of the encounters with them where you just could have not been nicer he I had a very gentle warm sort of last year when you when you need him of course we were in the studio for an afternoon that that day in nineteen ninety four but I can tell you in my my son Jerry who plays drums further with Slipknot I was a teenager I say graciously offered an opening spot on a rush show up in that Boston I think it was for jade is high school band that they were progressive you know trading kind of band and you know the guys piled into a Sam Hey drove up to Boston and there was a huge huge deal eight to do would be to open for rush where you know the audience is so keyed into incredible musicianship and you know from all three of the guys and so that was a it was a great set as a father that was this fantastic thing to do yeah of course Sir what a tragedy and a slice of the and the child he lost his wife to cancer he we're talking to you we're talking to Max Weinberg the greater one the greatest drummers in rock and roll history of course from the east three band Bruce Springsteen and and also current Brian show for many years and it Neil part the drummer from rush passed away today if you're a rock and roll fan you know his work you know he's one of the greatest of all times and I just I you know you you mention this there's there's a little bit of a fraternity there I know the bands can be competitive with each other I I leave guys can certainly be competitive with each other but you know I think there's something about the rhythm section the whole feel there it's almost a sense of camaraderie with each other you know as well as with their band because it is and it does look a lot of great artists you know you have respect for each other right absolutely a needle like every drummer I've ever known in my life from the time I was a young man we all wanted to be Buddy Rich and when I say than a buddy rich you've got all the other drummers whoever played to real monstrously talented people through the weather jazz rhythm blues rock you name it and then there's a separate section so bloody rich and Neil and I certainly sure that we are one of my phone number is and that's session we did burning for buddy where on that album which came out the real Steve Gadd and great this and that and just you know somebody well known practitioners of drumming he was talking about Buddy Rich and are common our common love for but right so you know the the competition I think is more this is Anne and I haven't really noticed that that kind of thing myself but it's just to be better a better a better deal certainly grew and grew and grew and is so many great stories you know this terrific you know one of musicians favorite things is to tell each other musicians quelques and one of the greatest musicians jokes that's constantly repeated all the time and has been out of the twenty thirty years was that how many drummers us to take to screw in a light bulb and the answer is one to screw in the bulb for how much better Neil per would have done it so that is all that needle was held and throughout the nexus of German well but the music world and you know I've heard things is that you know he was gonna play anymore this is that I really didn't know what was going on I saw a flash on the TV screen in front of me on a table the show just to me in a one forty five minutes an hour ago yeah so it's against to the his family his friends and that it was not at all not not surprising but a terrible shock terrible was he was very young and you certainly made his mark only contrast his drum set to my you know little for peace terms said that I use that's what I use for the music I play and Neil you know you need a tractor trailer truck right now you all his round the famous slogan rotate around yeah Max Weinberg Max Weinberg of from the eastern band of course one of the great drummers in rock and roll history commenting on the passing of Neil part the greatest drummer in rock and roll history so thank you so much Max really appreciate you spending time with us well it's a sad occasion but it's always good to talk to your route eleven year old he's a listen a place that's rich but not money.
