"All right. So I had we I discovered when we talked about sneakers is this hype update or is this this hype approach that people should replicate there were there were some sneaker fans a lot of people are like, oh. Did you get those Lego sneakers? Yes and no. So the way they do those drops now to prevent abuse by Bots is essentially prepay you preorder in a raffle and then you find out I don't know if they authorize your card or not, and then there's a thirty minute window. Then there's go you can get it or don the way order confirmed, and so I get those I got a pair of UC's that ultimately didn't like I gotta throw those on Ebay and then. Ended up cracking and by the hyped up Adidas lego sneakers on. Ebay. For about one hundred bucks more than they retailed for. So I. Completely explained how the full scarcity works. Then fell victim to it myself. This is extremely stupid. In fact, it's like an escalating level of stupid and it's GonNa get worse I have a calendar of other shoes tend to try to buy and then as I get them decide keeper flip. And so we'll see how the city our city is. He goes this your shoe flipping. Yeah I like I enjoy a little casual retail arbitrage for fun and profit. I need the money. In our time apart I. Feel like we're I feel like there's a chasm opening but. I just like I don't even know you wouldn't. Believe I. Always liked by dump crap on the Internet I'm true. Yeah. That's always and you like weird overly complex schemes. You always weren't that. Yes. Ski Rub Hands Together Scheming. So. Yeah. That's that's my speaker update for the twelfth people who are interested. And But the you said, oh we're. A chasm has between us I think we could agree that vinyl wrapping my wife's car was totally sick. Yeah. The the car sick it's a gold car. It's a shiny gold car. Finish I prefer mustard yellow, but it color changes a little bit. It's. It's it's a C. Three Po car. Yes. That was the go the object of it. Knew it. Yes. So. If you're unfamiliar. If you WANNA change the her car previous. You'd repaint it very expensive time consuming and didn't always have the best results. Now you literally get vinyl wrap which contact paper it's sticker sheet you a professional. Wraps the entire car in sticker sheet effectively changing the color but you're not limited by what paint can do and it. It protects the painter neath after five years you peeled off and I enjoy material sciences I watch a lot of how it's made in modern marvels in that crap like that's the level of Dad Dork I am. So choosing in my wife picked the color then I found a guy that did it and. The unfortunate part is I really loved it. So now I know I'm GonNa have to blow. The cash to do this a second time on another car in the future. It's GonNa Happen I mean. It's true. It's pristine like I saw it. I have a boring gray car that's boring and grey. "We know that. You're going on this tour through star Tours. REX has been taken out sadly, we'll talk about him later but you sit down you are sitting in your star speeder one, thousand and C. Three Po has been assigned to maintenance of this ship. Our duty to unexpectedly takes the ship off before see three PEOs ready he is not supposed to go with you. He is not the captain of the ship, but he has stuck there with you because our two D. two. Did it. You encounter some sort of dilemma where either the first order of the Empire or the Trade Federation who've wherever it might be tries to stop you and accuses there's a rebel spy on your ship turns out that his true someone from the lights side comes and confirms that with you and then you go through different parts of the universe where you're trying to reach a rebel base to protect that rebels by. And I will say I agree that I can appreciate the story from someone who before now now I'm all caught up in the star wars everything. But before I was I can appreciate that the ride. You know is very. easy to understand like from the very beginning, and this is what we love about. Any good ride is that you kind of know what's going on before you even get on the ride. So the Q- sets it up. Nicely, the pre show sets it up nicely, and then by the time that you're tour has started, you really understand what's going on. So even if you don't quite understand the different planets that your honor like the scenes that are taking place, you can at least recognize like for me it was always I just can recognize the characters. In I can appreciate that I'm on different planets and things are going wrong. So I do appreciate that even if you're not a huge star wars person, I do think you can still ride this ride and at least understand and appreciate the story that's being told I do think the cool factor is upped if you've watched the movie and if you understand what's going on.
The Impact of Voice Tech on Human Communication
"What do you think about? Do you have an opinion on the use of human voices with these devices and things like that. In general when you hear a device, should you know it's a device talking to you? Should it be differentiated from human voice are in your mind is the ideal for it to be indistinguishable from human I. think There's two elements I mean there's the the naturalness of the humanist of the voice, and then as knowing it wasn't a human who actually made the. Response. So I think having a human voice is beneficial and I understand the studies have shown that people respond better to human voices that more motive etcetera but I think people should know that they're not talking to a human. They're always talking to something that was designed by human. It still contains human bias. You know these questions not came from somewhere but I don't think people like to be tracked and at this stage in this kind of early stages talented. Build the trust in the TAC. I agree with that and there's no way when you're looking at that device on your countertop that you're like, oh my gosh, I thought there was a person in there there isn't like. To me, I think it's a very interesting question about. Because you can see that like Amazon gave their device a human name Alexa. Supposed to hearken back to the. It's got the hard x so it's easy for it to pick it up and it hearkens back to the library at Alexandria as I understand learn. A. personification and and what's interesting to You got like RTD to see three Po. Those characters would have a different feel to them if they were named Fred and George. Right because. I wonder about the act of naming something and embodying giving. An actual human voice I wonder and again, this is probably one of those things that I'll probably be revealed to be quite provincial. If that is not going to long-term corrosive to the notion of human rights in general. There's anybody thinks so yeah, just. Send a movement against the name Alexa in itself. There's obviously a movement against all these voices having female sounding voices, and now that people are generating these non binary voices. To give it the kind of sound of a robot, but still with those human element so it still sounds personable, but it doesn't necessarily sound like it's emulating. or account to the find real life someone childlike was submissive or any of these characteristics that you might not want to replicate in a robot. Right? You know when Alexa starts to say something and she ramble on something I just tell her to stop just like tell her shut up basically right do you think that affects human interactions more inclined to cut other people off if that just becomes the norm or do you not think that's really an issue. I reckon does to some extent especially, if you have kids who learned from an early age that cater to to have those kind of conversations, the more practice you get with these kinds of woods, the more likely you're going to let them slip into normal conversation with real humans. It does kind of reminded me a little bit of the Duval. Video Games caused people to be violent kind of question that we've been going. Around on and I tend to err on the side of no for that, you can tell the difference between fake onscreen violence and what real violence actually looks like. But when it comes to compensation given, our aim is to make these conversations as life as possible. I'm not sure whether the boundary there is as visible as is noticeable I would be hesitant and if I had kids and they were being extra retail voice assistant. Cut Out. Yeah. You know and it's interesting because we've had to claw early as a species to get to hiding this notion. Of Human Rights this that there are things you do not do to another person no matter what. Entertainment doesn't matter who they are, how bad they are, whatever you just don't do it because being a human nobles view and you wonder what happens if someday you build a device that looks basically ninety percent like a human and talks ninety percent like human and all the rest, and then one day when it's not working and you just throw it in the trash heap, and by Newin, is that corrosive to this very fragile thing we've made that there's something uniquely special about being human, right? You know. I was GONNA. Say I weighed by before she is read the heart of the machine is wonderful book talks about a motive machines, emotional machines, and after reading that book it was it was a good summary of all the different affective computing technologies that are out there at the moment and paint some examples of how they could be used and it did make me think at the end that if you do create these machines are more personable, more natural to interact with the number of fantastic use cases that you can. Use Machines fall well, really open up but at the same time, maybe make appreciate each other as humans because they won't be exact human they'll be nearly human and maybe it's in our interest to make them nearly human but not exactly human. You don't want to cross that threshold and I thought it might be similar to US discovering extraterrestrial life another planet that suddenly win alone sending we've got this other forced to contend with and we appreciate each other a little bit more because maybe that's naive you but that's why. Well I shouldn't familiar with wise and bomb and Eliza. Like the setup for this story is in the sixties, there was just fella named Weisbaum at early computer science guy and he made a chat Bot called Elisa and is a very simple chat bot because the computing power they had and you would say to allies on your touch about it. You would say I'm having a bad day in the program and say, why are you having a bad day and use having a bad day because of my mom is your mom making you had a bad day. And so on and Weissenbach bomb. Everybody knew it was a program but why isn't bomb saw? People pouring their heart out to it. And it disturbed him so much that he unplugged it and raced it said no because he said when Elisa says I understand. It's a lie because there's no. And there's nothing that understands anything and. oftentimes, the answers that they put in these systems. Where the devices purport to have preferences or things they like or don't like. I find it creepy and again, maybe that's just my I'm kind of Weissenbach. Of person there. There was this twilight zone episode back in the sixties where. Sky Stranded on some penal planet all by himself in solitary and they bring him a robot to keep him company, and then he gets a pardon because he turns out he didn't do it and they send to spaceship to get him picking up and they only have enough wait for him. You can't take his robot with him and so he says I'm not going I'm staying until I don't know that it's a great time to have those conversations because all of these are still open questions. I hope the technology develops in a thoughtful way and. You know not just like, Hey, we can make sound exactly like a person and give it a person's name and have it purport to have feelings let's do it because people want that

"Crutch in Houston celebrated a big anniversary, the tenth anniversary edition of your book the Happiness Project Yes. It was so exciting so for people who haven't read it yet. Describe it, so the product is the story of a year. I spent working on my happiness I using this as a Guinea. Pig I tested ideas from each of philosophy cutting edge, science, pop culture and my own experience to figure out. Could I make myself happier, and if so, what worked I made concrete. Concrete, man's will resolutions in areas like energy. Friends love money in the book a report on what I tried. Why and what worked and we should say? The happiness project has been a blockbuster seller. It's more than two years on the new times bestseller list including hitting number one and has sold more than a million and a half copies, and it has been published in more than thirty languages, and of course for people who love audiobooks. It's also available in audio. Check out the happiness project. The tenth anniversary edition has a lot of new materials with more resources updates. Etc. I hope. It makes you happier. Visit Gretchen Rubin Dot com slash books to learn more. I'm Gretchen Rubin and this is a little happier. As I've often said I. write and collect aphorisms and proverbs of the professions and I've learned a proverb from computer programmer culture that I love and I find myself quoting all the time. It's not a bug. It's a feature. This proverb is invoked by software developers when they argue that something that might be seen as a mistake or fly in their program. Is actually something quite useful that it was purposefully created to do? This turns out to be surprisingly applicable in everyday life. It's astonishing. Something that one person describes as a bug can also be claimed as a feature. For instance I remember years ago, a writer friend was trying to sublet in space that she'd rented to her writing and part of her pitch was that the office had no phone and no Internet service, so it was perfect for a writer needed to focus. It occurred to me that self knowledge is another way to apply this proverb. We take an aspect of our nature that might be seen as a flaw or limitation and figure out how it can be considered strength. Now I'M GONNA. Give some examples from memory and I wasn't able to double check. These references so forgive me if I get some of the details wrong. And I was thinking of several examples, a famous actor comedians talking about how a bug in themselves actually became a feature. The actor Marc Evan Jackson plays the Demon Sean in the good place. He plays Kevin. The husband of Captain Hole in Brooklyn nine nine. He plays the inscrutable lawyer. Trevor Nelson in parks recreation. These are all shows that I love by the way he's also the host of the good place to podcast, and I think that's where I heard him. Make this comment. When he was talking about why he didn't get the part of Detective Charles Boyle in Brooklyn nine nine. He set off handedly. Well. You know I'm C. Three Po. And? If you know this actor, you know that in all his roles, he does indeed have a very stiff and formal demeanor, just like the droid from the Star Wars Movies, the actor Maya Rudolph was on Saturday night. Live the movie, Bridesmaids and stars in the TV show forever. Also, coincidentally for the point I'm making along with Marc Evan Jackson. She was also in the good place where she plays the judge. In a Vanity Fair profile she says of herself I have a very almost calm demeanor. Almost a little to call. And here's another example from Susan Canes. Terrific book called quiet the power of introverts in a world. That can't stop talking. Early in her career as a Wall Street lawyer Susan Cain unexpectedly to take over negotiations on behalf of a client to try to help the client renegotiate better loan terms as a mild, mannered, deliberate introverted person. She was extremely worried about how to handle a tough negotiation. She didn't have the kind of loud aggressive argumentative personality that we usually associate with negotiation, so she just did what she could. She asked questions she talked through. She ignored displays of anger by lawyers on the other side. She stayed very calm. And by the end not only did she get a deal, but she got a job offer from the lawyers on both sides of the negotiation, they admired her -bility to stay calm and focused on the deal rather than shout and pound the table. It's very easy to get discouraged by our flaws limitations, but perhaps we can also see these qualities might in fact service well. It's mark. Jackson C., three Po quality that makes him so funny is a demon, and it was Susan Canes introverted qualities that allowed her to be a successful negotiator. For instance for me. I'm a happiness bully. It's not a bug. It's a feature. I'm Gretchen. Rubin and help this week a little happier..

"So I think we need to finish up today by talking about the idea of the Sarawak's really slow digestion. Remember C. Three. Po says that when you fall into the all-powerful Sarlak again. I'm not minute. Maybe things. This can come up again. I'm not quite sure why this like is all powerful, it seems. Relatively powerful within its own mouth in the range right around there, but beyond its powers rapidly diminish. But C. Three Po says in there in the belly you will find a new definition of pain and suffering as you're slowly digested over thousand years now we've already discussed the slow metabolism and of the eating machine, the ant lion, but I wanNA look at another emblem of slow digestion this time, a mammal I think we should look at the sloth Yes, the sloth, and now there are a lot of ways actually that sloths have been observed to be generally slow. Right the name their. Their English name is not a coincidence and this the slowness does extend not just to their movements through the trees. If you watch them climb something, they tend to be very slow moving creatures, but their slowness extends down to the chemical biochemical level within their bodies. was looking at a study by Jonathan Paulie. "Okay. So it goes up and down the aisles. Yeah and there's no one controlling no one's controlling news no joy state actually move about like Roomba like you know accept. It doesn't have to touch things if I bump into the orange to orange stack right. I've never engaged with them personally but I think you can ask them questions and there will direct you to places in the store all right. I got it the next time I see one. I'm doing all kinds of experiments on it over. I might have gone to stop last weekend with Danielle. Oh He's one of the students in the personal robotics lab who's obsessed with this robot and we might have like put stuff in front of the robot to see what it did and what happens. There might have done it. They didn't they think would have had this. You had done. It might have happened. What were you testing? If we didn't get kicked out we're going to go. Are we just wanted to see what it would do? Because the purpose of the robot is to find hazards on the floor and alert. Someone come pick them up and so we wanted to know what's up. Yeah for right now. What would I wonder what it would do? If you just laid down in the floor like on the floor in front of it like what it would do it. If it's actually go around you see. That's a real tall robot so you'll recognize a spill but I just had a damn heart attack around around really. It's so somebody's pickles. It's a huge monumental problem. We need somebody to get here right away and you can't get up in the robot in the way instead of hitting my my meddler bracelet. You're just like okay and gives me right really. So that's the thing though like when designing robots you have to think about how like what's GonNa be frustrating to people when they're interacting with it and they're going to be like why isn't it helping me do X. when they don't understand that building a robot is really really hard and like they only have very limited capabilities and robotics. It's really neat to think. Not just about how. They're working but how people are going to perceive them limited capabilities. Now right yeah. Stop coverage for so many Daniels as an actor. Ethicist didn't even know that was a thing we'll get into that in a minute from the MIT media lab course in Cambridge Massachusetts. And what we're featuring. Today is my interview with Anthony Daniels. Anthony Yeah Oh she get all nerdy these nerd out on that one the actor who portrayed C. Three Po. Oh Oh oh oh you want the gig lovely to to you. Want the GIG in particular. We're not just talking about robots by turnabout relationships all robots okay between humans and robots. We don't even know what that means entirely. Not at the moment a I kinda covered it. Yeah okay all right all right. But of course C. Three. Po is from the Star Wars Franchise. One of the most successful movie franchises in ever was and just let me get a little bit of background on you. Kate so Did you come to this from robotics? Now no well. I've always loved robots but I'm social. Scientists have a legal background. I did social sciences and now I study human robot interaction from a social legal and ethical perspective. Wow so so so. It's good to learn that. Someone's such as you exists in that world. Yeah we should have somebody like you in all of the the the potentially troubled places where where technology is going every yeah everywhere so you have a book that may becoming out in twenty twenty one. Yeah title right one. The new breed. What our history with animals reveals about our future with machines That is a that is awesome title of really is so so. Let me get to my first clip with Anthony Daniels. He's the only actor. There was an all nine star wars movies all ninety official not the right not the the the the fan offramp right exactly and he's also the author of IMC Three Po. The inside story cool see what he did there. The clever there. So what is it about C. Three? Po Is it his performance his the way he speaks that that people could relate to him so deeply. Oh Gosh See. Three pairs amazing. I think I think what it is actually is that C. Three. Po looks like a robot but acts kind of like a human like very flawed and has all these human emotions and I think people just relate to him ironically because he so human like oh so so it's the opposite it's not like he's the perfect robot and we've finding a way to relate to that right is that he's been has enough human in him so that he's an imperfect robot right. That's what we're related. Is that what you just told me? You know that makes sense because that is what makes us human. They're like you know the fact that we are flawed and imperfect and you kind of annoying the and we'll definitely not kind of definitely annoying now so I can. I kind of liked it when he when he got a little excited. Oh that was just kind of fun. It was like. Hey that's kind of cool. Yeah it's Al. So that's so it's the human side of the robot that we're relating to sometimes. Yeah that case in that case for sure okay. And so so. What is it about him other than his costume? That told you he's a robot in how he's interacting with people. What is the evidence that he's a robot then he's a shiny metal right? I mean a lot of it is the design. I'm trying to remember anything. Like specifically robotic that he said see. I don't think so other than I know. Eighty Julian language. Nobody no no human would. So that's a robot talent great I think what is the visual? And the way he moves. Yes he does. It looks like he's actually doing the dance. The robot you know what you WanNa do if you want to be. Contemporary robot though is fall over a lot. Oh yeah well. Let's go to a clinic. I sat down Anthony Daniels and did he wasn't always a fan of sci-fi really remember he he he.

"Appear in every single star wars movie every one of them. Please welcome the author of IMC Three Po Anthony. Dan I'm told that in nineteen seventy five when you met with George Lucas. You were apprehensive about taking this part on. No no no. I wasn't apprehensive. He just didn't want it. I was I was a serious act sort of being in a in a robot suit disguise in science fiction back in the day. That wasn't very popular. Then you still have the check you get what I did. See what I did. See what you call a production still still how parrot might look and it was. It was drawn. Look by Route. Mcquarry paint and totally. I stared at that picture. And it's changed. My life totally changed my yes. Well well see three P. One of the most beloved characters and we'll be history of all time ever I mean C. Three Po. What can you say about it? That have been said it's incredible. Why do you think he's such an iconic character? Well he being a machine Georgia's Georgia Persson. The writers gave him also attributes. That wouldn't normally be ascribed to human at the age of six. You told her you know grow up It'd be a manner that kind of thing sweep never learned this kind of he just. I'm afraid I want to go ahead. And that speaks to so many of us coming out now is that he really has connected with people who are a little sensitive to being out in society and people right to me and say how three. Po onscreen helped them to deal with life. That's lovely and your voice is very iconic voice the voice but I heard that George. Lucas wanted different way to go. Well what does he know?.

Couldn't even keep my eyes open The no kept checking the time which was like a punishment to myself because I would see that there was somehow always an hour and forty minutes less. It was like watching the first movie where time was added to the movie S. It feels good until he's worshipped talking something. Everyone else feels the same way except you. Apparently I mean you could see why it sucks but you can defend it. I think the the issue of the movie is then the first like four thirty five to forty minutes of it this the the within the city where they have the chase for with the assassin that all that stuff. I think is not great. Let me remind everyone of the plot. Synopsis Really Quickly set ten years. Okay so that's kind of loose. I mean we have pages that he drives and pages. It's it was honestly. I found it. Pretty confusing yes. Jesus Hatton was way too long. It was like I felt like hating Christianson. I started to understand what the point of that storyline was like midway through. Gosh Johnson darth not to be rude is maybe the worst actor of our generation. Well look wing. God Okay I just going to say you're heavy breathing over there. He's panicking. I mean you're holding it laughter. Because you're right Natalie Portman. Oh it's not good is a great actor. A GREAT ACTRESS. WanNa give hitting Christians in the same okay because I remember him in other things was in life as a house. That was movie. I loved when I was younger. Men with incline. And it's like whatever jumper or leaper movie one defendant Jumper Natalie. Portman I think is really great. And so many things this is the weirdest it was as if the note was like have no expression ever never modulate your voice but yet she kind of talks like she's very present day like it was the only actor in this movie who understood. The tone of the movie was Palpa team because he was in the original. He was the only person where I was like. I buy everything you're saying you're doing a great job in Christopher Lee is also does it get Christopher lay. He's he's Duku. Who's do crazy a picture. Which ones do pull up is the jet. I started getting the clowns. Yes he does a pretty decent job to also iota. Fighting was the most insane thing I've ever seen iota flying around. That was the silliest thing I've ever seen they didn't handle it. I watched it but John Millhauser. Who's he likes Star Wars? He was like when I saw it in the theater. Everybody cheered and I was like really. That's so funny I wanted to ask. Did you see this at at when it first came out? This is so for me. This is one of the only I. I pulled up a picture of Christopher. Yeah this for me is one of the only star wars movies. I don't think I saw in the theater. Okay so came out in two thousand and two Mike Question about this as I was watching it and I feel like this has come up in other episodes but like so the CGI stuff bothers me a lot. now my question is at the time did people think wow that looks real or did they think. Wow this is the best. Cgi We've ever had. I think probably like this looks real right. Because isn't that weird to go? This looks real and it's clearly bad. We'll ugly this Mitch's tried to speak so much. I know I know I love. I love hearing this. I think that the CGI especially in that first city seen I think it does look like like a computer game that explosion in the beginning and then when the Princess Amidala double is on the ground with her hair. She looks like a cartoon. Oh my God I know in her hair blown out there were blown off. It was very funny. Yeah Rose Byrne Burn. His dorm dorm as it should be illegal. That cure nightly Rose Byrne and Natalie Portman all three have careers. They're the same person only let one do it? Yes yeah I mean come on now I now? Those Bernie was kind of interesting because this was way before she she was really known and she has a very small part but it was I. I wasn't sure it was her but I was excited to know that it was and then I thought about her. Being onset must've been exciting in sunset lake surrounded by just like a green stage saying that to the League. There's nothing around them. There's no practical sets because it's very strange to think about. Also McGregor. I think is a great actor and some of these wineries and then everyone calling each other master. I was like this is kinky weird. I felt like it was weird. That NATALIE PORTMAN SAYS SENATOR. I was like everything's made up in this fake word it doesn't mean the same thing as Senate. Do you have kids okay? Headed for some romance because we haven't had any in a bit romance heavy of Oh is it. Yeah and they did a bad job. They got married so much happens too much happened. Also are you know okay? Let's walk through it a little bit. Yes okay okay okay. So how does it start ten years after the Trade Federation's invasion of Nebiu Boo boo or now which one is the Glenn Beck corrected me earlier you did? It was so rude. The Republicans threatened by the separatist movement organized by Jedi Master. Count Duku WHO's allegedly dead right is supposed to be dead. But then they find him in the Galaxy. I Did. I make that up. Maybe is is there a thing where he's supposed to be? I don't know I don't even greater. Didn't he was like he was like what he's still alive? Otherwise you're going to be like this lost Djeddai. We found him. Okay yes that's that's fair. Oh yeah he's he's like gone away. He was guessing or something. You're right there's a lot look at look. I don't take in everything either. Episode to. What genius isn't the thing? That fucking scrolls started the bidding and go. I can't even read this ally. It's so fucking dense Ryan Peres. Made a great point about star wars scrolls and then when they don't make sense that's when it's the best understand it you're like this is like. I shouldn't understand what the story interesting because one thing that's been surprising through this whole journey of watching these has been. How much do understand yes? I was like the first one's pretty straightforward and like in the boring. But whatever I thought because I was on the outside of this thing for so long that it was like stuff I would never understand and when you think you think I get it well. They're putting the pieces together for like like the whole concept of this prequel that like democracy like always kind of collapses and doesn't work with these powerful people people take advantage of the system and this is like the most like putting things in place here and there's a lot of fucking boring like like meetings between all these races. He'll feeling like yeah there so long and boring. My second real meeting happened. I keep saying George Lucas. I think believes that movies have to happen in real tie. He does. He was like well. It takes two hours and twenty minutes. Food Storage Techno droid man. There's like fun stuff. I think you little things happening there were there. Were things that got my ex. My attention peaked. Little Bit and Okay so Senator Pod me up. I'm Dala who's Natalie Portman comes to Scott to vote on a motion to create an army to assistant today the threat correspondence course thank. You narrowly avoiding an assassination attempt upon her arrival. She is placed under the protection of Jedi. Master Obi Wan Kanobi and his apprentice nineteen-year-old Anikin skywalker. I was pretty excited about the fact that he was nineteen. Yes.
Ashley Blaker: Goy Friendly
"Talk about some. I'm pretty heavy issues. Israel Iran Patriot of Jews. So our next guest is a pretty big leap for us. Ashley Blaker is Jewish standup comedian. He is the first Orthodox Fox Jewish comedian to be given his own BBC. Show Ashley Blaker. GOYA's guide to Judaism which returned to the air in October. Two Thousand Nineteen. Now he's in New York for his latest off off Broadway. Show Ashley Blaker Goi friendly which premieres at the Soho playhouse. On February third and runs through February twenty third. While his previous off-broadway production strictly unorthodox was tailored for Jewish audiences. This one he says is not just for the Jews. It tells the story of how Ashley's close friendship with Muslim. Comedian Imron on. UCS completely changed his life with antisemitic incidents on the rise around the globe and even here in New York actually hopes to make the audience laugh but also understand stand a little bit more about their Jewish neighbors Ashley. Welcome to our studio. Thank you for having me so I have to ask you right out of the gate. anti-semitism is not funny. So how how do you address that topic with humor. Well the reality is I think he's anything can be funny. So I'll let you come to Louis showing judge whether I make. It isn't about antisemitism. I should say that there is actually a section is a band. Semitism thought. I think the more interesting is the fact that that when antisemitism is on the rise there are two ways of dealing with. This is a way of kind of hunkering down. Just going. We're we're now gonNA stick to ourselves and and try and protect ourselves and put up the security barriers and let's have lots of armed guards on the on the door in social ones bags and all of that stuff all you can kind of outreach. As it were and try and engage with the outside world and that's what my shows about about the latter it's about reaching out to the outside world and in a way this makes wants a comedy show. You know hopefully nonstop funny. Sound sound incredibly dry but Hopefully demystify Judaism a little bit. That's certainly one of the aims. Okay well I would say you could do both right. Do the security see the undercover getting having no security either. All kind of you know very good at that accused but I actually my playbill. I wrote a Performance note and for Bates Him. But I said something about how you know very good dividing ourselves as a as an in one of the things into I enjoy doing you mentioned my show strictly and also those I I love bringing choose together because we figured it kind of separating ourselves in so many different ways you know on the whole joke about the Jewish man who lands on a desert island and he builds two synagogues one ones that he'll go to one that he wouldn't ever be seen dead and that's like what we're like but I do think that there is it is an important time to actually reach out a little bit and we can. I think sometimes certainly not in any way suggesting that we. We are in any way a foot four and symptom of course but I sometimes think that actually being too insular. Isn't that helpful. Listen so now you are from the UK so well the Labor Party. I have to ask you about the Labor Party. I'm afraid But it's often regarded as the political liberal party of choice by many Jews in Great Britain. And I'm curious how you dealt with the last election and whether or not you felt politically homeless as I kept had reading about the Jewish community. There didn't myself but I'm sure other people did and I think that yes certainly in the post for many Jews the Labor faulty will have. I've been there home by just as much as the Conservative Party would be for many Liberal Democrat. We have quite a different political system. Should know to to to the Americans as many but yes I mean. It was incredible. What happened over the last few years and how symtas I'm just rose and seem to not be dealt with toll within the Labor Party in? Yeah it was a terrible thing we still really really been dealt with properly gone away. Yeah I know there were. There were several vile things said many vile things said ed by Labour politicians but then also Jeremy Corbyn himself was talking about the lack of irony that many British Jews seem to have. I don't know if you recall that particular. Yes it was Avia. Yeah it was a video I think from a while ago. Actually but he had yes he had said something. And there's a lot of these kind of allusions I think is because they. They caught clever then. They don't outright. This isn't the foul right then marking the street saying killed the Jews. It's a very allusive. Quite clever thing of of Hinson these particular weight alluding that Jews and Israel inflating the to and to you know the whole talking about antisemitism and anti Zionism also that that things that really came along with the Labor Party and I saw something videos of people saying no no we. We're not intimately to we like the right to choose. I think there's that thing of the good news and the bad news and I think that's a really good. Jews has ones March against Israel and kind of write letters to the Guardian saying that we support Sanctioned bedia smell that kind of thing uh-huh and then the ninety five percent of the badges. I mean that's clearly terrible things so it's been a really dark period and I didn't know it'll be interesting to see in the the next four five years. How things change? Have you tried to address it with humor. There over showed. I just did a toll in opened in in May with my friend Imran you mentioned draymond so imminent. He did a tour together called profit sharing actually breaking news in profit sharing seek clever title. And it's not address head on there are other people addressing this head on and the the truth is the way to look on twitter five minutes especially around the time the election to see that kind of Echo Chamber people. Don't WanNa hear they. You know you you tweet. Something about Labor Jeremy Corbyn and immediately comes back. This prepared list of twenty times. Jeremy Corbyn has both a motion ocean in parliament. That's been helpful to community Blah Blah Blah say. No one listens to each other anymore. People just spout the same thing. So I'm not sure engaging in that kind of way addressing head on is that helpful she because people just don't want to listen right. I'm sure it's the same here with trump and I'm sure there are people who are vehemently say one one thing you don't want to listen to the side. Yes that is. That is a problem that area. So I think that's something we've seen a lot particular around brexit and all these issues as we've had in the UK and the F. But so my show anyway. Mike show look comedy show. That's the the the main PARV. So I'll tell you briefly I mean essence shows. It's about yeah. Tell us about the show but then I also want to hear more about Enron and your friendship so the show about my friend she was Enron said. So that's the kind of I think in film in terms they call that the macguffin. He's kind of you know that you heard that term. I'm not familiar with that. So it's like using the original star wars. I think C. Three Po an onto d two of the macguffin that they're the ones like sent off into onto the desert and enter tattooing. They've got the messages item. Thank you the whole plot revolves from. Then there's no actually about them but it starts from them so in a way money's the macguffin hit because is a true story we're good friends we went untold together. And he's very interested custody my life he didn't know much about Judaism me belly of June. We spent many hours together in the call. He was always drawing because he he's Muslim. Couldn't in claiming been drinking and he's always asked me questions and I kind of wanted to teach him about Judaism. But where do you start. We've got six hundred thirteen commandments. It's too long to the call I didn't want to spend money on guests so I thought well I teach him about the Ten Commandments. And we started looking at the Ten Commandments. And I unrealized. They're not that practical you know he doesn't have an ox next all so there's no need to worry about not coveting it and I so I could. Maybe set myself challenge of coming up with my own ten commandments. That I could be a bit more practical. But they could actually explain what it's like to be an Orthodox Jew in two thousand twenty and in a way. It was my friendship with him. That made me reconsider my Judaism. Because she had I've been living as an Orthodox Jew for the best part of twenty years but it's only when an outside comes along install challenging us at you start having to think about it you start thinking about your love. So that's what the shows about and it's about me going through these ten commandments. My New Ten Commandments. antiquing this to him okay. So do you mind sharing a few of the talk commanded if you're the one of them is thou shalt develop obsessive compulsive disorder okay. She's an integral Paulsville so shoot as But we cover branch of Judy. Check that box right exactly. So we cover a lot of these areas we cover kosher food and living in a Jewish area. We talk about the curse of praying public and this covers a lot of ground really comes a lot of ground in the show and then And then the story I keep finished. The story has a continuation because of how Im- reacted and then what we went off did something together which I don't want to spoil because that's the narrative But it's a pretty funny chairman. I it really is. I'm super proud of it. So you say I did. This show could street Lennox. It was aimed at a Jewish audience. All Jews knock. He's also dogs. Reform Perform Conservative unaffiliated. But Still Jews and I think it's a really. I really wanted to do something. Everyone could cutting joy That would be in a language WIGGs. Everyone can understand but the is serious does not scrimp on the jokes atone. It's the funniest show of ever done this by miles miles because I've already but still called the serious stuff when we do discuss antisemitism and there are some real takeaways well foam it excellent zone. The show's name. Is Ashley. Blaker friendly it's at the Soho playhouse here in New York City from February third to twenty-third. Thank you for joining us. Thank

"Brain. I'm really not interested. It's so boring to me. I want it to be interesting to me too. That's important thing to note like we. We want this to be good. Because we aren't that person is somebody in the C. Three Po Costume. What's his name or her name. It feels like it's a woman right a nice slender woman. Nevermind Anthony Daniels crushing it and honestly the way Darth vader breeds. I would be concerned. I wouldn't follow him anywhere really. Yeah you need help. "Idly by while these other races or civilizations commit similar mistakes to humanity or are are in jeopardy but the intent is for that whole expedition to be exclusively scientific and they're interference with those things is what creates a compelling story so what does star wars do differently that makes makes us love it and is that the thing that makes it good so I would say yes it does something differently that makes us love it more. It just makes it. Generally more accessible and that particular thing that star wars excels at is this kind of common storytelling trope or idea that is colloquially known as the hero's journey or the universal narrative and it consists generally most that act would say of approximately twelve different parts. But I think that when I start going through these you're going to kind of realize. Is that star. Wars really does all of these in exemplary fashion. And that's part of what makes us love Star Wars so much so she's going to get right into what the hero's journey is kind of go over. How Star Wars hits all these things right so? The first element of Hero's journey is the ordinary ordinary world. And this is kind of the world building I was talking about earlier. It is the place. The hero hero exists before the story that we're about to be pulled into as viewers or consumers of this particular media exists. They're heroes kind of oblivious of the adventure that is to come. It's their safe place. It's the place where we get to be endeared to them through like a human connection so in Star Wars. I mean the opening of episode. Four new hope exemplifies this perfectly because we have this farm boy who basically is from the middle of no where who works on a moisture farm and this is like a really relatable story because it's really easy for us to kind of put ourself in the shoes of Luke in this particular portion of the of his journey and he receives this call to adventure which is is the next step in the hero's journey through C. Three Po and R. Two D. Two and it kind of of represents an alternative form of call to action or call to adventure from what we would normally get because normally there's some sort of imminent threat but in this particular call the action part of the idea or the thing that drives luke is his desire to save this Damsel in distress. Who appears in this Hologram? That is recorded the R. Two D. You too and makes reference to a specific person. That Luke is familiar with and so at this point star. Wars kind of alters. The order order a little bit of the Hero's journey narrative. But we'll get to that right after we go through a quick commercial break. "Three creepy. Oh is more of the humor is derived from a character basis. That in the original trilogy is like Oh he doesn't WanNa be Curti like he's got all this stuff in his gears and it makes him really unhappy like not exactly jokes but a way that a character can be amusing and I do you think that's sort of why more of that stuff lands and you just get the feeling like he's this weird droid who obviously is not supposed to go along on adventures. 'cause he can barely move and he's sort of wrapped up in this stuff whereas yeah this time it's much more like give him jokes to say banning. I really only found myself in the first viewing. I couldn't believe that if I had. Sympathies is going to see three. Po for just how brutally the movie is treating him as a character character. Like the character. I care the least about stupid plotline. plotline yeah yeah it was. It was absolutely ridiculous. plotline my complaints about many movies. Movies is video game plots of we have to go here to get the thing to do the thing now of course in many movies you have to get something to accomplish a task. You know movies need there to be reasons to do something. There's just just a question of how much does it feel like an arbitrary job so like Lord of the Rings we gotTa Get this ring into that mountain. Listen and the story happens because of that and it's yes it's a video game plot but at least it's it's the direct action. The more indirect movie becomes comes in its plotting. That's where it starts to feel more Gamey of. Oh we don't need to directly do this thing you know. We need to go. Get the key you to open the gate to then do the thing like a term raider game. Yeah exactly now. This movie the level of indirection is crazy is okay emperors alive we need to get the emperor. The characters explicitly say that in the beginning. Like oh no the emperor's alive we gotta get him okay so what needs to happen. Well in order to get the emperor we need to get this way finder which is a little pyramid. That's a map which can tell you what what planet he's hiding on like. Okay that looks disturbingly. Like a save point. I didn't think of it right. That's going to be like a save point in the future star wars video game for sure. Okay well how do we find that. Uh well we need to pick up the path of where the clues are as okay. So it's just an established that that Luke and Lando went on an adventure to try hi to find a clue to find the way finder and there there is a passing reference to the sacred texts. Yet that that these exist yes that's Merinos it's a thing okay. So then the characters need to go to a desert not for any particular reason but because this is where the adventure sure finished and in the other way it feels like a video game Landau is still there in the desert which is thank wait so what happened. Like how long ago was this adventure with Luke because in the previous movie Lukman like on an island for thirty years like so so what happened here. Lando just decided he really loved living in this abandoned desert maybe he met gala something. Maybe he did. Maybe one of those elephant girls like good for him settling down. You know whatever but it's just it's still very bright. He happens to still be there. They happen to run into him and then from from there again they need to go find the ship but the like the ship doesn't have a clue on it and so they get sucked into quicksand. The quicksand happens to land them in a pit. Were they wind a dagger and what were the odds that they fell into that quicksand and at that point long chase like okay so you fell in the same quicksand pit as the other guy you all get sucked under but don't worry it just drops you conveniently in a little cave like how does that quicksand work exactly whatever just keep moving on and okay so then they find a knife. The knife has cith written on it. which leads to the whole thing? You just complained about with C. Three Po not being able to translate it so then they get the translation from C. Three Po Jio by murdering him in a heartless faction and like so. The translated clue tells them they have to stand on on the shore and use the knife. The blade of the knife is the outline of where on the fallen death star like in the guineas. And he's like the Gandhi but John on the except like how has that death star in that incredibly violent ocean not like a rodent or broken anyway and it's the the same shape that you can find exactly we're GONNA don't ask. Don't ask like the Cherry on top here is. It's not even that if you line up the knife off with the outline of the ship that tells you where the way finder is. There's a secret compartment on the knife that needs to be pulled out in order to then point quaint to the exact spots. I honestly think I may have never seen a movie. That has more layers of indirection with brand Dan news stuff in the way of achieving the goal and again like I just think comparing it to something like Lord of the rings lots of stuff happens in Lord of the rings but you know what they always have with them the ring and where are they trying to get it to the mountain so like you have something as as a viewer to hold onto in your your mind like this is the thing that's occurring but this amount of like oh we keep introducing new stuff that needs to happen is cry like a crazy level the video game plot. Ns and again. Why is all of this new stuff in this movie because there's just nothing to work with because there was no plan? Yeah I just can't believe they couldn't have got to come up with a really cool story like couldn't someone just like conjure something up and said there's some pretty smart people around the place and and I've got lots of money to pay a Meta level. I know that Disney has decided that the entire extended universe that exists in star wars is non Canon. They're like oh all of those books and in comic books and stuff like none of that really exists anymore. which is you know? Okay whatever like I understand you want to have a corporate clean slate. That's fair enough because a loss stuff stuff happened in those books like I read some of them. You would have a lot of. Anka's todd you if you had to follow that yeah I completely get it but my point is this you have have forty years of additional material Take the best stuff from that and make a trilogy village out of it like surely you already know which of these books are. Popular like which storylines do people like. You've actually been market. arquette testing star wars ideas unintentionally for decades and like. There has to be a good story in there. I still remember the names of these character from these books thrown and Mara Jade and all these people I remember them. Oh there's totally stuff to do in all of that and you have at least a place. Nice to start and it's where again I think of the marvel movies where they've made a lot of these comic book movies but they're they're also very rarely totally brand new. They're looking at a character in there thinking. What are the stories that we know people like about this character and adapting it into movie forms and so like you hat you like? You've got something to start with. It's crazy that it was all like all brand new and also unplanned at the same time having seen it twice voice gray. Can you explain something to me. I can't guarantee it. What's the deal with hailing powis? Does it can you do low level level healing okay but if you hear someone too much you die and say what did Princess Ladder. Okay okay all right right so I happened to write down. Raise exact line because so because she the first time we see it she was the snake she hills the snake. Doc Yeah there's this monster snake again just out of nowhere. She's like. Oh I'm going to heal. This has a wound convenient. There's no hesitation the the head off any monster jumps out from a corner but this time she suddenly says Africa different idea. Maybe the tortoise force works in mysterious. Sways Yeah so whatever. So she heals the snake And then she says she turns to. BB Eight which is also weird because because nobody else seems to care that she's just on this thing none of the other characters react just hanging around and she says to him. I transferred a bit of life to him you would have done the same route. which is strange onto levels level? One you know it's like rose levels of stupid stupid. Okay if you mean that in a literal sense like you will live less because you healed this snake. That's just stupid. That's a terrible rebel. Decision Making Matrix here. When I think the the three of you in this pit could have easily taken out the snake one of you is a jet I just? It's just just a bad calculation. How many wounded animals have you passed in the many years like? Are you going to heal all of them and then just die so she has sacrificed a year of life. The snake has show. Is that that is I. Think the implication that you're supposed to have so she'll be lying on her deathbed in sixties can. Oh man it wasn't for that snake. I could have had another every year. Yeah it's the only thing that makes sense with what happens later in the movie. Yes and then. It's also strange that she says you would have done. The same debate is like wait. Does can let Detroit have life are there. Are there Jedi droids like. I don't understand like it's the weirdest thing to say to you. Giving me your phone charge of the the other day you've done the same grace. Yes I suppose I would have. I don't know it strikes me so strange and especially because I I sort of miss this the first time around but the second time. It's much more obvious that they're they're clearly establishing many times. That Finn is is like a force sensitive dude that he's got connections with the force as I. Shouldn't she say that to him. If this is a thing that you want to have in your movie that you're establishing establishing that Finn has some connection with the force. She should say that to him. Don't you say to the DROID. It's bizarre but so no you're not wrong is not oh really explained. It's just like jet I can. Now he'll things and it really bothers me because the thing about that. That's unbelievable is hey. Wasn't your whole prequel trilogy about Darth Vader. Really wants to be able to save his lady's life when she's going to die in childbirth. Yeah and the whole thing is pal teens like well us if we might have ways that we can save people's lives no actually. It's Ah jet. I power jet. I can do this unless maybe the I mean. Obviously the argument could beat the force. Knowledge has moved on in those thirty years. But let's let's pretend hasn't because then look it could have saved his dad on the death star. Oh I can't take you homeless off. You die not just give me a little bit if you lost force and everything will be good. Even if I accept that forced I technology evolves over time say. Yeah there's there's forced tinkerers and they're always working on new stuff and they released the IPHONE force twelve year right like whatever whatever there's new features that's totally fine. You have to add new stuff and again. I like the telepathic communication between Kyle. And right like that's the first thing. I'm totally onboard. But the reason it's great is because it does not thematically contradict fundamental parts of the earlier movies and also the reason in that kind of works. Great is you can tell. It's new like they're confused. Yes as an excellent point an excellent point. Yeah Yeah. They're both wondering what's going going on in the previous movie. Luke is like this is super dangerous that the two of you were having this line. This is weird like this is a new but like the healing. She just does like it's dislike. She knew she could do it archaeopteryx that she knew she had that power and Carlo of we've seen you too because when he saves her later on. A Review of "The Rise of Skywalker"
"Welcome to the twenty minute movie review. Today's movie is the rise of skywalker in movie directed by J.J. Abrams starring Adam driver Daisy Ridley and company with a run time of about two hours and sixteen minutes. This review is certainly a very emotional one for me This is a movie. I've been waiting for for some time. It's the final chapter in the skywalker. Saga which spans over forty plus years. You know. I remember going to see my first when I was about six or seven. So you can kind of calculate how old I am from that But I gotta say without sounding cornball or cheesy. This is a very tough goodbye. There's a lot of things I'm GONNA touch on. I'm trying my best to keep Leonard Twenty minutes. This is the only one I have a lot of trouble with because I have so many thoughts We saw the movie on Thursday night a day before it opens up nationally. And and I have my awesome star. Wars Park on I have my beautiful Star Wars crocs. Yes I said that correctly star wars crocs Fox they are phenomenal but it was a Thursday showing nine fifty match three. By the way. If you haven't seen a movie that way okay. I cannot recommend that enough I max an three d together are just. It's a whole different ballgame. It's it's amazing but it's so refreshing to kind of look around around and see all these passionate star wars fans just here for that last chapter to here to say goodbye it. I'm not saying it didn't feel like a funeral. Oh it felt more like a thank you and thanks for everything. Thanks for the memories. That's the way I certainly felt and I could tell other people kind of had that same mentality -ality except for the kids sitting behind me. You know drinking talking sporadically throughout the movie. Please and I've said this a lot if you go to the movies and you feel like you're one of those people that can't shut their mouths. You can't stay off your cell phone please. Just don't go stay home like this. Movie is one that people the winning for for years and years and years and you know these kids innocent enough. We've all been there but kind god'll just stay home. I mean I'm tickets are not cheap to begin with and to. There's so many people there because they there to say goodbye to this the skywalker Guy Walker. Saga they're there to say goodbye to this franchise. It's been their life. I mentioned my case forty plus years for so many years and for someone to think think they can destroy that and take that apart that bothers me. There was a few other issues in the theater. Not near me. It's like a re stuff online about people being on their cell L. Phone and of course there's absolute eight holes that on facebook wherever that loved to ruin movies and post spoilers and it's just I don't okay people like there's people that just seemingly loved destroying your joy that extends outside of movies as well and it's like you know go f yourself like you're not here I mean it's just it's a very sick mentality to have it really truly is and long story short they completely destroy the movie for us. I I you know you'll hear from I review what I think of the movie but I don't know I'll never understand people that go to theaters and maybe it's subconsciously so you don't realize they're absolutely destroying movie even when you're like innocently talking to somebody next to you. You know many times older people do this. And not realize they're talking out loud like for me the cinemas Mike Cathedral the church is Mike. If you dress where I go to just you know just just key decompress. It's a place of passion for me. It's a place of solitude for me I love it and for people to go there and kind of ruin that I have so many problems with but let's move on with the good stuff. Okay so the rise of skywalker emission as almost a two and two hour and twenty minute runtime and it did feel like Our saying goodbye to a friend and I don't know the movie looks phenomenal the movie itself when you sit there the movie just POPs off the screen it this so good so well put together from that point of view from just popping off the screen the way it looks it's Jj that's such a great job with that I I gotTa tell you what I loved about them. If you're right so that was one I love you. And you'll see that the force kinda takes a new level right. The powers displayed by those who have the force in this movie. Rise to a new level in that was awesome so awesome. I love the fact that the gang was all back together. That made me feel so happy to finally after all these movies. You See Paul and thin and you know ray together. It was really great C. Three Po rt to they're all Carrie Fisher to some degree to it so to see them together. And that's rewarding in itself you. You know there's some other things The Sixth Planet I thought was kind of cool. Little thing there. You'll see that when you guys go to the theater not again none of these. I don't think our spoilers or take away from the movie. Palpitation is really really scary. Gary and again you see him in the trailer. So it's not really a spoiler but Palpa Emperor Pal Patine went from a guy who is just flat out evil to now. He's it's just pretty much like the devil and I love how they did that. It was a so creative so wonderful so kind of original the way they did that. People like world. We need palpitation back in the movie. You could debate that. I love the way they did. It I thought I was worried coming into it saying. Why are they recycling? Emperor Powell between but such a great job in how they did it I WANNA say and I know people say this all the time when a great performance on three and like Oh that person she wouldn't award or that person should it'd be nominated that being said me being a hypocrite. Just now I'm GonNa tell you Adam driver in daisy Ridley both serve some type of recognition for this and I'm not talking about people saying how great I'm saying Academy Award Nomination Good. They are so good in this movie. I was not expecting it. I know they're both phenomenal actors actors. I was not expecting what I saw today. And I compare this to the last movie. I reviewed the Irishman. I know it's a completely different type of movie movie but acting is acting in these two. Were beyond any acting. I saw in the Irishman. Adam driver has taken it to another level level. He is just you know he is solid a-list at this point but his ability is is scary. Good I didn't realize he was this good. And boy support around display and boy. When you see it you will be absolutely rewarded for going to this movie? Just based on his acting alone. I love light speed skipping get being negative show a little bit of light speed skipping that is worth it so for all the reasons I just mentioned. It's one hundred percents worth seeing. And you have the phenomenal John Williams Liam soundtrack who has left us. You know we'll get Indiana Jones Star Wars. John Williams has done so much for us as a composer. You're glad it's almost like expect greatness. And he delivers every time. It's obviously his last movie. I'm doing a score for Star Wars and I love how they ended with John Williams composer her score. I love that he was so good and he has a and I noticed it because I listen to music. He has a brief cameo in the film. which is Kinda cool as bartender so beyond offer that that is John Williams? We'll notice that I noticed it because I'm a nerd It it was. It was a really kind of cool a little cameo but the music is just so good the movie itself up to this point. I can't recommend it enough. Go see it. It's just so oh good and if you if you're like me if you've grown up with this you have a legitimate passion. You have a legitimate love for this franchise absolutely to go see it because what I've listed in the first ten minutes of this review is enough to warrant you going to see this.

"Not not quite as good as it will say my name all all right Mike. We're going to get to know you. A little bit. Better came it but first we are going to tell our listeners. Just a couple of the things we're talking about today Star Wars episode nine. Nine reviews dropped two nights ago at midnight and they're not great. I've never seen anything you'd never seen. Well no I mean people are so pre angry. Yes ever seen people this angry. Yeah they were post angry after after after the last Jedi and they're still angry still miss a brand new movie. Yeah so we're GonNa talk about that where it falls in the sequence of of a metacritic review counts It's pretty far down there. We're GONNA talk about how well the president is dealing with his impeachment. Goodland talking about impeaching this voter purging in Georgia still happening just all sorts of Shit Cats apparently apparently Tom Hooper. The director of cats on the red carpet admitted that he had finished the movie the day before after thirty six. Our all nighter favorite thing. I never heard a love. It Organ talk about that. We're going to talk about survivors metoo incident and just how perfectly thickly they handle that. CBS is really good at this sort of thing. So we'll talk about that all of that and plenty more but first Mike. We like to ask our guests. What is something from your search history tree that is revealing about who you are the my last thing? I searched for was called blogging doom blog of doom. Yeah what is it's a behind unseens pro wrestling block. Okay you said that was such pride I I am. I didn't search for being prepared that I was going to have to talk about Are you a big professional wrestling fan. Yeah yes other way to qualify that plug of doom. You learn anything interesting. Oh did I learn anything interesting. No of visiting I I don't watch the. WWE sworn off of them for like a year. And a half now. So when I do go to blog boom basically get Reaffirmed and mine boycotting of them find out some decision that they made. I'm like Yep still making the right decision vision. Yeah not doing it. This might as well be in a different language. I'm looking at the blog at the smart grant for. WWe Monday night raw yet. So that means the guy who writes that blog tuck who also does not like. WWe watches it. Every week does his content God so this is him shooting alone. Whatever wrestling happened Monday night? Got It okay and wrestling. Wrestling is every week like this. Whatever forever they never have no longer sees their fifty two weeks a year of brand new programming forever forever? It's been like that since like the eighties. Yeah Yeah and that's probably at least partially why They have so many problems. The wrestlers themselves right. Yeah for sure. They're just treated horribly. Yeah it's it's not easy to fall fall hard for a living living on purpose. We don't daylight guys never take a break right. That's true that's why you have so many raced. Conversely I am not thrown around by muscle bound person for a living right imagine. Somebody came in the room dress as an irradiated lice. And just how bomb on June through this table ready. I'm ready every week every week. Goodness you're made a good stuff Kaelin thank you. What does something you think is overrated rated? Sweet potato fries. Yes thank you all speak quite grace. I think they look on the paper. Apor I think in the mouth. That is a different story and we just started being honest with ourselves about how you don't need to cook every potato the same way okay. So what's your what's your beef with. Sweet potato fries. The sweetness is weird. Sweetness of of a potato that is fried. It is weird appeared. Tastes like you're eating like a crispy butter stick or something not good. You wouldn't. There's a reason that you don't eat crispy butter sticks and they're also you're you're never be enough. I feel like they are a bit soft soft. I we went out for dinner for Holiday Party last last night. We had a delicious sweet potato and it was just a a potato that just sat there. It was nice big soft it was it was a good form form of sweet potato if they turned it into little sticks or little threads that were soft it would have made it not as good like I. I think. That's it's a really good way of thinking about it that you don't have to cook just because it's a potato does not mean just because we named it a potato does not mean that it needs to be Dystonia fries and I guess maybe the secret truth of it is it is probably really not a potato right right. Yeah I guess that's right Cam. There's not the same thing as a sweet potato any of these run around putting sweet potato fries on our mouths if that's a thing right and then you like dipped them catch up. Even though it doesn't go together new dislike sweet potatoes. Got Ahead of you there so you like you. Just don't like them and FRY for. I don't like him in five. Four okay my goodness baked baked more than like a baked potato. Yeah that's good. What's under aid digital comic book some Digital Comic Digital Comic Book? Okay what do you read them. I I have the marvel comics APP. Read a Moma ipad okay everywhere especially on airplanes. What's what is something that people so I'm just imagining edging having to Pinch and scroll around a image What what am I missing about digital comic book? Well the best part is you don't have to go anywhere to get them that it's good go to a comic bookstore and be surrounded by a bunch of nerd right arrose. Well the th you know that most of them are empty now anyway right the one nerd behind the counter and you can keep him company. That's fine raise. You don't want it depend on him. Yes and they're weird hours and the the conversations that they have with you that are not about what you buy. I mean we used to be be used to perform and I used to involve a nerd. Mount Meltdown Comics. It is now gone R.I.P. That's a great place. Bummer bummer. But I still WANNA comic books regardless of whether or not there are comic bookstores right. So I'm happy about the this other option. What's it what's something exciting exciting? That's happening in the we. We rarely talk about comics on and the daily Zeitgeist. That's that's a oversight on our part we should talk more about comics. What's was the most exciting thing that's happening comics in your mind for the over the past couple of years to X.? Men are being have just gotten rebooted in the comics. fucking great it. Is it so good. Pretty they're all like separatists now and they live on their own island. Oh he started growing these drugs that humans depend end on for health. So the Lord Netto everybody and not letting anybody on their island fucking great. I was featured in a comic book. Recently is Irag. What do you mean by that My likeness was in a comic called ghosted in La by scenic grace And Jamie was well. We depicted us being in a like alive Bechtel. Cash show talking about titanic. Obviously obviously so we were drawn as a in the comic. And that's all she did you. Did you name it. I have not prime framed it yet. I've never framed anything in my entire life. Real including my diploma weren't got my masters degree in screenwriting from Boston. University's it's a piece of paper lying somewhere somewhere. He'll file cabinet somewhere loose. Yeah Yeah That's pretty cool. So was it just sort of like background. Something that was going on in the background ground did it have something to do with the characters. Go to a live back L. cash so we are not the focus. Yeah we're we got a few frames James and the crowd is laughing. Their their rear ends off I might go home and download that on my ghosted in La. Check it out there. Ha- jaiing there's big ha-has flying through the air pretty slow lane and finally what is a myth. What is something people think is true? You not fall sir vice versa that you can only get chicken pox one time. Oh yeah him. That is not true. Not True How many the times of you had three Holy Shit Yeah. How does this happen? My immune system is just stubborn. That way don't WanNA learn less. Were they all when you were a child yet at at different stages of childhood last an almost like thirteen got it I had shingles so that's absolutely right flex what Shingles is like a form of chicken pox like left in the body or something. Yeah so you get chicken. Can Pox. Virus lies dormant in your system and sometimes later in life it'll flare up as shingles usually it happens in An older population. But I got it when I was nineteen because I'm special but I had. It had chicken pox when I was three years old and it was a very very mild case. The only think I had like three little pox on me so reach year one for each year. I was alive. Yeah and the doctors speculated that I got shingles so young because I had such a mild case and I got so young. Are you an ex-man earn X.. C'mon I'm an ex woman woman. Yeah thank you very specific mutation. We'll all all right guys. Let's talk about Star Wars episode nine. The end of the saga. who were is as you said? Mike people are pissed already already there fired up because the last movie. The last Jedi pissed a lot of people off to try to take star wars in a new direction. Tried to upset. Some people's expectations have a question. Yeah this new direction yes it was just. She's not related to anybody. Yeah tire direction. Yeah Yeah and then I also liked that they killed that one dude who it seemed like he was going to be a big villain and then they just like cut them in half snow but that is the dragon from from the Hobbit. Yeah But yeah they just chop them in half one of my favorite moments of a star wars movie but yeah and I'm mocking ally. I did not like that new direction. That much interest and I don't like that I don't like it because it has like like being like no they have to be genetically related is weird and Lake Eugenic. See like it's like kind of like no I. I want it to be all by. Genetics is is weird and not something that I generally buy into but it does seem like the universe. I that we were given up to. That point was one in which like the force was passed down lake. I don't know like because as a gene but as a G.. Yeah do this weird legacy thing with it up until do do do do But they but also like and can skywalker. WHO's his? Who are his parents and do we care about that? Were they Jedi masters no right so to me. It's more I just interpreted. The whole thing is like like your your force powers your Djeddai potential is something the maybe like a pass down among generations. or Or. You're just maybe it's you're just born with this special. Maybe you're it's kind of an X.. Men thing maybe it's just right mutation but That isn't even why I didn't like last last Jedi. Like the he likes subverted. The idea that like no rage doesn't have special parents although I maintain that raise parents are a C. Three Po and the other she three that we see the beginning of a new hope. Because she's so many languages. How would she know how to communicate with bb V8? How does she speak Wookey? She speaks all these languages. She's a protocol droid is what I'm saying. Yes but is the the the first terminator in the Star Star. Wars universe basically yeah. She's got an endo skeleton. That is a C. Three Po which a rise of the machines esque USC plot in Star Wars would be fitting because like there is in the background of the Star Wars movies all of them up to this point gist droids being tortured and treat them like share and and programmed to be able to feel pain and fear. They're like well. Why don't we get this one in anxiety disorder? Let's let that. That'd be fun for him but yeah so anyways there seems to be in the run-up to this even like in the press and the interviews with J.J. Abrams and the cast a like light. Light struggle for the soul of Star Wars. Where they're like our so glad that it's back in? Jj's hands and According to the reviews he has done some mm ret conning or going back on some of the unpopular decisions of Episode Eight That critics liked him. Fans did did not like and now critics are pissed Scott Mendelson from Forbes is calling it the worst star wars movie cheese crumbs already already the worst worst in than than clone the attack of the clones so I was telling Caitlyn I kind of like..

They may get Lazy Gentlemen. Welcome to UFC unfiltered. I'm lonely. I'm lonely you don't realize how much you miss your friend until your friend is not here. My Pal my co host Matt. Serra is gallivanting. He's off in Florida with his wife. three daughters is lovely family gallivanting. I'm stuck up here in this shit shit cold broadcasting by myself while Matt is zipping around on a golf cart going on rides and eating and having fun we have. We always try to get somebody into sub for one of us when we're out. We both travel and again we. It's hard because people are busy. Robbie Fox apparently whatever's going on in his life where he has to be away as more important than Jim Norton. Dan Soda or a good comedian. Buddy of mine is in Los Angel promoting his. HBO SPECIAL IS UNAVAILABLE. I told him look. Fuck this special fuck the promotion. Come in and help me. But was unable Robert Kelly. Another comedian comedian unavailable algebra sterling unavailable. I imagine he's training. I'd like to thank him. Your Hall has the nerve to be in Texas Texas. When I call you know your friend of the show the least you can do is schedule your personal life around when we might need you so he's in in Texas he might have been be training? I'm not sure what he's doing so it's just me but the good news is for those who hate my guts. Don't tune out Caitlyn Shoe Kagin is going to come in She's been given a date on the Valentina Shevchenko Flower Championship. which were very very happy for Kaitlyn? Because you know it's always nice to see people you like and we genuinely liked her so much some happy for her on the phone today on Skype we have a guy who's one of my favorite fighters. He's been around forever astro volume remo beyond. He's our first guest. We also have Stefan Struve. Who who had retired or talked about retiring and I'm going to ask him if that was just a negotiation tactic and it was hard to get but we have the Great Matt? Serra former welterweight champion. Matt Sarah will be on skype with us in a little while now. I guess a couple of things to talk about before we get these guys on the phone you can. I think they're trying Alastair now and by the way I might take off off my sweatshirt because once again it's seventy five degrees in here. I I don't know who runs the temperature thing on the wall is like an illusion. It's not it's not a real thing it's a fuck it's like when you're in the desert you think you see water. That's what it's like here. You think you see something to lower the temperature and it doesn't exist. It sucks in here. It's really really hot. So is there a way to turn the temperature down. Just a bit doesn't freezing. I'm sure you did it. Just probably not your fault but just seems like this doesn't work so now normally we're talking poor Matt. Nobody Gets Surgery Matt. You're Dana. His best friend talked to him. He's got doctors. Should it be happy to help Matt. Serra era but obviously Alastair Ovarian and Stephens trooper. Both what a fucking card is coming up this weekend. You know. Obviously Walt Harris Poll Harris has had such a terrible bit of news with his. His daughter passed away so he dropped out of the the fight. Take care of his family. Of course so alisher is fighting and make sure it's not an easy name to say Georgina Rosen strike. I'm hoping I get his first name right if I don't forgive me. I don't feel that bad because half the time the fucking fighters don't say names which I always love it. I'm interviewing somebody. And they say the name wrong. I'm like oh I don't feel so bad. But Rosen strike is undefeated. I think he's eighty nine and now he's won a couple of Very very Decisive fights against crowd or Sqi but You know over in his foot everybody. There's no one who had with allistair over him hasn't fought is beat Marquan twice. He's beaten for over doom twice You know he's been around for a long time. So this is the classic case of the veteran against the up and coming fighter and sometimes it's up and coming fighter. Frankie Edgar has to hear this from me every time he because he's a veteran he figures out. How to guys like your Rodriguez but then again not the bright Ortega's a young fighter comp- compared to Frankie is and then he knocks him out in the first round so I always liked these kind of matchups? I like to see what a guy who's been around for. Twenty years does against a guy who has less experience and has fought less experienced fighters than over it. Because there's nothing you can do to. Alice hasn't seen before Saint Stephens truth even though he's thirty one years old and by the way I think he's lying about his age but there's no way he's been fighting for this many years years and had this many great fights he's only thirty one but I think he started five seventeen so I just kind of answering my own conspiracy question. That's why nobody likes me. 'cause I raise the subject and I just answer it and it's boring could've built up some tension. If Matt was here he wouldn't let me get away with that right now he'd be like demand Laurean or talking about fucking fucking crazy by the way when Matt comes it I'm GonNa Scream at Matt. Sorry I could do it actually on Skype Baby Yoga I was right. It's it's a toy they're already selling as presold toy. And by the way there's a part of me that's Chile right now. I know I should be shot. Don't just ignore me. I'm an old old woman. I'm a little chilly. I was warm and now I'm chilly. Put a sweater on. I'm a grandmother. I really am my grandmother without the Shitty charm bracelet we talked about. I think I know I talked about on the Jim and Sam show that I do. I don't talk about it with Matt where it's this whole thing of. I'm bitching about baby. Yoda and people think. I'm doing it to be contrarian or just to be different guy but I'm really not it annoys me stupid child's toy with the fucking dumb ears. I hate it. I don't hate all star wars darth vader Hans Solo or prince layer even Chewbacca. which when you look back on? It's Kinda stupid you know. He's probably got shit stuck to his for. But you don't think of that when you're watching the actual movie. I like a lot of the Star Wars Universe I enjoy it. I have fun. I hate the walks. And there's a rumor they're bringing them back jar jar all that crap. That makes it a child's toy selling operation. I'm not saying you shouldn't market you know I do a character named Chip Jefferson. I'm a prostitute chipper. Sohn I tap dance and south okay. I'm not not saying. Don't make money you're George Lucas. But I just liked it. Darth vader's being sold. I didn't mind C.. Three Po and that weird kind of homoerotic relationship with the droid. Nobody knows what was going on there. It was just kind of bizarre that they had this thing. These lovers understanding but then again three there goes. My there. Goes my My male privilege. I don't know what gender C. Three. Po was it was never determined or artists are are too but then maybe he did say he. I think he did refer Verte C. Three Po Arthudi- to a he by the way star. Wars fans. WanNa murder me right accent mixing up C. Three Po and fucking R two D two. Good fucking good. I'm glad I'm mixing them up. There's still hope for me. Tony Ferguson. Who I don't think I've ever interviewed the one day he was in a commodity? Didn't come on and I- pranked match and pretend that I was tony and it really Matt really almost had a meltdown but he held hold on for a little while. And you didn't even start the show. Clark I am just curious. I'd just like to be a rule with an iron fist fist. Around here it's not that you know again. They know how long we're talking. I'd just like to see I have an idea of where we are. Especially if I'm doing an interview we have a guy for fifteen minutes. I'll I turn. Oh Am I on two minutes or thirteen minutes. Why my raising my hands like this? I'm alone in the room. Now Tony Ferguson. Now obviously I think I've said this before but connor against cowboy is a great fight. I'm really happy especially for cowboy. I kinda wanted to see just engage. He just I think that's such an interesting mce matchup with connors ability to to throw kicks and and that booming left and engaged. She's a leg kicking. I would love to see how connor handles that. Since we did not get to see Josie Aldo. You know because I thought that'd be the interesting matchup Josie against Connor. I thought it was GONNA be great because of JOE's as ability to kick your legs almost off even though he's gotten away from that but after conor knocked him out in twelve seconds. It wasn't a big chance for Aldo to get his legs kicked a leg. Kicks off so I kinda wanted to see that with just engage. But I'm really happy. Happy for cowboy. And I think that's a great fighting people sleeping on fucking cowboy man. People think the CON is just GonNa come in and knock him out. I might take cowboy in that fight. I might might take cowboy in that fight. I mean he has the ability to strangle you on the floor. And he's really smart fighters again conner's veteran as well but nothing. Nothing has been thrown a cowboy that he hasn't seen yet and if anything connor has proved that his Achilles heel is being on the floor. You know I mean. He did better than I thought he would do against Habib he was able to hold out till the fourth but it's just not his not his strongest. I'm just point whereas cowboys a black belt in Jujitsu and You know I think that Connor will have a rough night if they wind up on on the floor and put my old lady glasses on now. My friends company does these by the way the called Bunny is and look they tilt down. I never used use that feature but I liked and if I want to look over at you sternly can always tilt it back up and people always think my glasses are broken. It's how I meet women on the train. I'll go like this. Hey where are you from. don't warrior not broken to go. Oh God you had me all right. The AFC is not officially announced Tony Habibie I don't think Tony says a booking. Progress puts fans through the frigging ringer yet. Does Tony Obviously. He wants to fight in February instead of April the reported date. I'd prefer that as well. So how does anybody not enjoy Tony. Ferguson he said he wants to make be pissed blood. Legitimate visceral thing. That is I don't want to beat his ass. I don't WanNA knock them out. I WANNA pummel his innards until he urinate blood..

‘The Rise Of Skywalker’: Advance Ticket Sales More Than Other ‘Star Wars’ Pics On Fandango
"Five it is still nearly two months away but online ticket sales for the final Star Wars movie are hot WBZ has been Parker spoke with ABC entertainment correspondent Jason Nathanson about the hype so the final trailer is out for the final movie in the Star Wars saga and jay-z's suit and it looks like it's gonna be a hit because the pre sale tickets are hitting the internet now already set his records yeah this is the first indication that we knew this was going to be big because like you said this is the final film in the nine episode Star Wars triple trilogy the nine all Gee I don't know exactly what the the toward the terminology is for that but it's the one that started in nineteen seventy seven with the first three films with rocky films for five and six then you had the prequels which were one two and three and now for the past few years we've got seven and eight this will be the ninth film in the final film in the sky Walker saga so they're calling it and so we know it's going to be bad it is the patient's hot people want to see this film so this was the third trailer that dropped for it and never do we ever talk about third trailers I mean sometimes we talk about first trailers when they come out because people want to get their first look at the film but the third trailer problems seem to trail is already we already know some stuff so the fact that we've been talking about a third trailer means that day also it was time to well the the dropping of the pre sale tickets the online presale tickets the first chance for those really Die Hard fans to get those tickets and Adam tickets one of the big online retailers said in the first hour of presale tickets it was the biggest thing that they've ever seen by far bigger than the vendors and game which was the previous champ by forty five percent and if you remember Avengers and game this year set the record for the highest grossing movie of all time worldwide I don't know that that's going to be the case here but it's our first indication of what might be and it's almost two months away before the movie even hits theaters on on December the twentieth so clearly there's a lot of excitement after seeing the trailers I am and I know the people like to speculate about what's going to happen in a movie what is the buzz on the street about what's going to happen here or do we just I know isn't that close to the vest I mean if it is a little bit I if you if you're a huge Star Wars fan you already know you've been parsing through this thing you know and then freeze framing on every second so you you've been really dismantling it and that's all over the internet articles about did you see what happened at that that minute one thirty two and what happened there but some of the big takeaways are a lot of princess Leia Carrie Fisher who course died a couple years ago and she had filmed a bunch of stuff for the first film and for the second film and so they're using some of the footage that they weren't able to use the first time around to put her it's not and they have we knew that she was going to be there that wasn't a surprise but they give her some very poignant lines in some poignant looks in some poignant hugs and one of the themes that has a lot of people kind of sad is there's a line there C. three PO the robot is looking at all of it is assembled friends and he says taking one last look at my friends so there's that are they getting killed C. three PO and Kenny killer robot that is what happened there a lot of questions WBZ's Ben Parker speaking with ABC's Jason
New "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" trailer released
"We are here to talk about Social Media News and and the first thing we're going to talk about is star wars because the trailer was on tonight during the halftime show of the Monday night football game to which I said to Monday night football games normally have a halftime show is not more of a super bowl thing and my husband who's a football fan said he didn't think it normal we happened but ESPN is owned by Disney who also now owned star wars so they have you know they they have the means to play the new star wars trailer as part of the halftime show which may or may not be a normal part of Monday night football it doesn't matter if it is or not that's when it was and we happen to be watching the game let me rephrase my husband happened to be watching the game I happen to be reading a book that's that's often how we watch football together uh together I glanced up every once in a while and we we know we have conversations I read a book or snuggle with puppies or whatever it happens to be so the new trailer the rise star wars the rise of skywalker premiered tonight and of course it is now trending on Social Media so there's a lot of scenes of ray running running and jumping into generally being the athletic bad ass that she tends to be you know it it tells you both a lot and not much at all gives you just enough to speculate of course because that is what a good trailer does and of course people are speculating the trailer is two minutes and thirty eight seconds long so of course there's plenty to speculate about and of course fans are already commenting on social media creating youtube videos et CETERA and there's already than articles parsing the social media news and the the all of these all the speculation this article is from movie Web Dot COM and they say they have I know they don't say that that was my word they say we have compiled some of the best still images to make section process that much easier for everybody Some fans got an early start this afternoon when the studio released a teaser trailer which featured the Ice Planet of Jimmy and possibly the ghost chip from the Star Wars rebels animated series so Lucasville announced over the weekend that the final rise of skywalker trailer was going to drop during tonight's Monday night football game which follows the promotional campaign for the previous in this stall moment of latest trilogy j.j Abrams has spoken about his fear of putting endings two things but he seems pretty confident that what he pulled off here and the rise of Skywalker The new trailer teases something star wars fans are going to be talking about for months couple of months at least because it comes out on December twentieth so we have we have just under two months to speculate before we can go see it the rise of Walker footage released so far has had a darker tone to it which seems forboding return of Emperor Palestine who get to hear once again and his presence is felt all over this preview. There's teasers of the dark side taking over but we always but we know that George Lucas always intended on bringing balance to the story so we will more than likely end up seeing that representative as well even though he with the latest trailer and footage we still have no idea what J.j Abrams and Chris Stereo have really cooked up for us that does not stop us from speculating things that I saw on social media people already combining Kylo and raise name like a rail oh I think I saw some referred to him Kylo refer Dumas's Bennett depending on how you think of him but there's all sorts of speculation on what Ben and Kylo and Ray are going to be up to the palpitation also trending of course Hashtag Palestine people are having a field day speculating my favorite my favorite tweets were those talking about Ray Ray low rain kylo being on some kind of grand scavenger hunt to find the Hor- cruxes of the emperor because that just combines all of my dorky passions of both Star Wars and star wars and Harry Potter. I can't help it I'm a Dork Internet skype the let me start that over in addition to the final trailer trailer hitting the Internet the rise of skywalker tickets are early on sale well have you ever I know people do it but I have never bought a ticket a movie to two months out I remember when they re released the star I trilogy the original Star Wars Trilogy I was in college and I waited long lines for those but I've never bought a ticket that far out it'll be interesting so well we are about to see the Skywalker saga come to an end that doesn't mean star wars is coming to an end because there's a million different storylines they can pursue it's been forty two years I sense George Lucas introduced the world to the story to these characters wow I mean star wars has been around for four decades which I know because it's been around my whole life but now it's time though to close the book on nine installed events and leave room for new stories to told well it's bittersweet this article says we still have we at least have the rise of Skywalker to look forward to with all of its ties to the past and the future I'm just wondering really is it going to tie things up is it not going you know how satisfied am I going to be about this supposedly conclusion to nine movie story arc and nine movies that are some are better than others let's just put it out there of course some are better than others it's it's going to be that so the the trailer features kind of gives you glimpses of everyone C. Three Po not sure what's going on with C. Three Po little concerned about him from the trailer You Get a brief glimpse of R two D two's chew he's in there a very brief glimpse of Princess Leia hugging ray brief glimpse of Landau flying possibly the Millennium Falcon Falcon. I don't know I didn't pay enough attention but you know and then all the new characters of course ray and Kylo in Poland people whose names I'm not thinking of off the top ahead is clearly I am not that big of a fan no I am a fan I just don't always I just don't have names off the top of my head there's Dumb you get a PLO and podium Ron and Oh what is the guy's name the African American man can't think of his name that's so terrible but that's just weird that that is that it should be Lucan lay back there maybe three Po it it's like weird collisions of my life together and so I don't know what's going on with three P. Oh I don't know what's going on there's lots and lots of drama for me the the trailer was fine it's the music that gets me they do that they do that on purpose of course but the music kind of amps me up less the story Alana law I'm excited about it but it's the music like yes this is this is my childhood this is coming and I get to see it at Christmas time
What Is the Mandela Effect?
"Countless humans have watched the Star Wars movies. And most of them will tell you that the bumbling droid named see three PO is gold all over. But did you know that C three PO actually has won silver leg? And what's that immortal line? Darth Vader utters in the movie The Empire Strikes back. It's not Luke. I am your father. He actually says no, I am your father, a both of these are pop culture examples of what's called the Mandela effect which are false memories. Shared among a large population of people a collective miss remembering of sorts, the phrase was coined around two thousand nine by self-described paranormal consultant view on a broom who used it to explain the phenomenon where many people around the world believed that the South African leader Nelson. Mandela died in prison in the nineteen eighties. But he was released in nineteen ninety later served as president of the country and died in two thousand thirteen at the age of ninety five brooms theory is that at all. All times there are multiple realities of each universe. Sometimes called the multi-diverse and that within each universe. There are variations or iterations of objects people end events. So according to this theory memories of these. Incorrect shared moments are not really false. They're just instances where parallel universes crossed paths for an instant the multi theory is also applied to various concepts in physics and Spiderman. A science has other explanations for how the men della effect happens much of it boils down to the fact that human memory is notoriously unreliable in this hour age of digital technologies. We often equate our brains with computer, hard drives. As though our experiences are typed up in filed away in our own organic storage. However, our prefrontal cortex sees where many memories are stored don't work with the same precision as a hard drive. We spoke by Email with Caitlyn a moat a UCLA PHD candidate in neuro science. She says that based on what we know about the brain. We can make inferences about what contributes to the Mandela affect quote memories are organized in the brain. So that similar memories are stored in nearby neurons when a memory is recalled those cells are able to change their connections, which allows for the addition of new information, but because neurons that fire together wire together sometimes false memories can emerge from aronie is connections. Well, we might think of recalling memories as solidifying them in our brains science seems to suggest otherwise recalling a memory often triggers. Other memories in the process, often intertwining various scenarios and people in new ways a sort of reconsolidating of the information in our brains. Human beings are also vulnerable to the concept of confabulation, which is an error or misinterpretation regarding a memory without a conscious attempt to mislead ourselves or others confabulation occurs. When the brain is attempting to fill in the blanks for incomplete memories. A speaker may mix and match similar experiences and information in order to complete a story in their mind complete with details and emotional responses. Certain that the tail is true. This kind of behavior happens more frequently and people coping with neurological issues such as brain damage or Alzheimer's, but healthy individuals confabulation too. Okay. So that might explain how one person misremembered something, but why would lots of people misremembered. Remember the same fax a moat points to twenty sixteen psychology. Studies showing that eighty eight percent of people in an online survey incorrectly. Picked Alexander Hamilton as a US president from a list of possible candidates, Hilton's recognition rate was much higher than that of some actual presidents like Franklin Pierce and Chester. Arthur Hamilton was actually the first secretary of treasury. But since he's associated with many early US presidents and has a hit Broadway show with his name in the title one or many could be forgiven for mistaking him for a former commander in chief. A moat also notes the power of suggestion. She said suggest ability is the tendency to believe what others suggest to be true. This is why lawyers are prohibited from asking witnesses leading questions at suggest a specific answer. These days. There's also the viral power of the internet and its ability to magnify human error suggest ability and gullibility just for example, if one person should Pacific sleep claimed the actor Sinbad start in a nineties movie about a genie called ZIM and could pro- off her plot. Details that strike a chord with other readers? This could generate a false narrative that many people might believe to be true or even claimed her member themselves in actuality, the actor in the nineties movie about genie was Shaquille O'Neal, and the film was called Kazan. Experiments continually demonstrate just how flawed human memory can be in one test about thirty percent of subjects confirmed. They had viewed video footage of United flight ninety three which crashed as part of these timber eleventh terrorist attacks, no such footage exists. Even twenty percent of people with highly superior autobiographical memory that is incredibly accurate memories reported viewing the nonexistent video and outside of the lab examples of the Mandela affect are pretty common are the popular cartoon bears called the baron Steen bears or the baron stain bears. It's the latter. Something that shocks many people who remember reading these books as children and do you remember a famous portrait of England's king? Henry the eighth grasping Turkey leg. The so do a lot of other people, but it never
