Of troops adorn not adorning taking up their positions in Washington. May God bless every single one of those men and women in uniform. But here's the thing. That is either Hey. Proper vigilance in view of the fact that Hey, we did just have some riots. Or be it is political theater designed to make America think. Oh, my God in heaven. This is what we need to protect ourselves from crazy. Violent Trump stirs. Now. I don't think that's binary. I think it may be some of both. And I don't know exactly how I'd slice the pie of I've all I've often said in terms of preparedness for anything That I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. And how do you like to be the official who understaffed. You know the troops for the inauguration? And then have another riot. Break out. That would not be a good luck. But you know what? I have zero expectation of another riot breaking out just as I and you and everybody else. At zero expectation of a riot breaking out on January 6th Yet here's where we Are. We had Ryan on January 6th so suddenly retroactively President Trump, who spoke that morning he incited the riot. Have some idiot says that on the street, I'm prepared not to care. But when the Congress of the United States floats and impeachment based on that, Are you kidding me? And sadly, I'm not getting Cause that's where we are. And it's just centers like Ted Cruz and Josh Holly, that famous now infamous photograph of Josh Holly walking up on Capitol Hill, seeing perhaps a smattering of people they're gathered to support him, and Cruz and other brave Republicans who stepped into T cast some question. About this tainted election. Into perhaps opposed the acceptance of electors from some states where the constitution had been so savaged with laws had been so sidelined. That's what they were doing. It was constitutional through the system thoroughly lawful, everyone free to agree with it or disagree with it as they please. But now retroactively since we wound up having rioting that day. Cruise and Holly being called on to resign. All of this is stuff and nonsense is sound and fury signifying nothing, as is the impeachment, but you know, silly me. There may be impeachments in my life, and now we may have one every few years. I don't know that I agree with or disagree with, But this one is a stain. It's a stain on the Constitution. It's a stain on our history. It is a stupid juvenile vendetta moment born of a toddler tantrum of people who hate Trump. And and it's not just Democrats. Because 10 Republicans Liz Cheney, for crying out loud, who has done much that I've admired? Fred Upton in Michigan, Adam Kinzinger in Illinois and seven other backbenchers. Decided that the only way to telegraph their revulsion about the riots is this where we are now that in order to make sure that everybody knows that you are sufficiently repelled by the riots. Is to vote for impeachment of the president and and to invent out of whole cloth, the notion that he incited them, which is simply factually. Incorrect. It is a lie. I am. So the day after the election, Missouri Senator Josh Holly, a rising star of conservative populism, declared Republicans in Washington are going to have a very hard time processing this, but the future is clear. We must be a working class party, not a Wall Street party. Holly is right. But continuing to embrace Trumpism goes against the goal, says Bloomberg Opinion columnist Michael Strain, director of economic policy Studies at the American Enterprise Institute. And the author of The American Dream is not Dead. But Populism could kill it. And he's here to tell us why. Pills have Republican senators Josh Holly and Marco Rubio are sort of interpreting the election results. Well, I think that there is, I think that they are taking away from Theo the surprising strength of of the president, uh, on the other Republican party generally. As evidence that that the president economic policy were successful, and, um, that they should, you know, kind of rebrand the Republican Party as the party of workers on day. I'm of the view that that is gonna increase Workerswages. I bet indirectly on the left. You take it well. The problem is that the effects of that tax hasn't been really held back by the trade war. With China and trade hostilities with other nations, and that conflict in the room of international trade has held back investment by businesses which has reduced that spending put downward pressure on productivity. Put downward pressure on workers. Ladies, the president really undone. Good that he tried to do with the corporate tax cut with his trade wars. Even if you look at manufacturing specifically, you know, it's common to hear people argue, you know? Yes, the trade war You know a little bit bad for the economy overall, but it'll do a lot of good for being factory workers. The evidence suggests that Manufacturing employment actually was reduced by the trade war. So even even manufacturing workers haven't benefited from both. And then when you add on the failures that Advanced healthcare security for workers and failure to reduce drug crisis for workers. You know you really You really don't see much that the president or his supporters can point to, in terms of a changeable things they've done to help workers. Senator Hawley and Senator Rubio and many other senators are obviously looking to try to solidify Trump's base behind them. But does it seem as if it's not so much a base because of populist theories, but more because of Personality. They're following Trump because of his personality. Well, I think they have. I think they have an opportunity to actually put some meat on the bones. Here s O if they if they want to turn their whole party into a pro worker party, I think that would be That would be great. And then the Rubio you know, particularly several years ago, had some really good ideas to help workers if they were to move in that direction. I think that would be a departure from From President Trump's policies. It wouldn't be a continuation of the policy on that, I think is is the tree distinction? Secondly, what you bring up is really important. You know what? What will Republican politicians take away from? President success, you know? Well, well, they try toe to mimic his aesthetic. Will they try to, you know, kind of mimic the rhetoric. You know, my hope, of course, is that is that that isn't what we're in for from from the Republican Party. I hope that they try to come up with some Creative solutions to address today's problems and try and implement them again. "The Republican candidates and Georgia's Senate runoff election. President Trump focused most of his time questioning the state's election results and his loss in November. They say, sir, you don't have standing. How about that? I'm the president. Seven states. You know, I was winning by a a lot. lot. They They could could only only go go so so far. far. They They had had no no idea idea we we were were going going to to do do the the kind kind of of numbers numbers so so that that printing printing press press was was really really moving moving on. They say I don't have standing to bring us in. What kind of a legal system is that today's vote will decide the balance of power in the U. S. Senate Republicans currently hold 52 of the 100 seats of both Democrats win today's election, The Senate will be evenly split, allowing incoming Democratic vice president Kamila Harris the tie breaking vote. Meanwhile, Republicans are preparing to voice their opposition to the upcoming electoral college certification vote in the Senate. 13 Republican senators have vowed to object to the results come Wednesday, Senator Josh Holly, the first to speak up, says he's doing this for his constituents. We now know that several senators led by Ted Cruz and Josh Holly, to separate approaches here. Are going to file objections to the certification coming in from the states. What does that mean? That means that what we will see happen is that As that's The envelopes are opened is a call for certification. I let them walk through the particulars. On that moment, there's going to be formal objections filed by the way, not the first time in history. That's happened in fact, in the Bush versus Gore Era, the George Bush won the presidency after Supreme Court challenge it went to the Senate for the certification, and Barbara Boxer led an objection. So this happens. We're gonna walk through what that means. But here the objection is going to be that an emergency Electoral commission be appointed to conduct a 10 Day audit. And then those states that after the audits complete Think they need to change their electoral college status can do that now. What's interesting about that, Frankly, is that There's right now 12 senators talking about this, so the get it to where it would actually happen. You have to get the house and the Senate fan to agree on that, not a likely scenario. Not a likely scenario J. But what is gonna happen when these 12 senators objected, joined more than 140. Members of the House of in Objecting is both Chambers will have to debate the marriage, so they will then recess back into their own individual chambers, and they will debate for a couple of hours. The objections and Jay you mentioned that this is not unprecedented that it happened during the George W. Bush. Election J. They're actually been four times were Democrats have objected in one chamber or the other? And by the way, While there wasn't a senator that joined the last time around J. There were members of the house that objected to the very last presidential election of Donald J. Trump. In fact, Sheila Jackson Lee repeatedly objected during that. So this is a process is laid out in the Constitution. We now know that members of both bodies will object. There will be debate and J on this Wednesday. We'll see this process play out. The American people will watch this debate in both chambers, and it will come to resolution. It's just that we know more about them. Now we hear more about when we see more about them. They're more in front of us in the media and the things that we are more aware of. "A growing number of Republican lawmakers back in President Trump's repeated efforts to overturn the 2020 election results today, Senator Ted Cruz announced the coalition of 11 senators and Senators elect who will vote against Democratic electors from states where the president has alleged widespread voter fraud. Those lawmakers joined Missouri Senator Josh Holly, who was the first to announce his intentions to object to the state tallies during the upcoming joint session of Congress. In their statement announcing their intentions today, those 11 lawmakers said in part quote Congress should immediately appoint an electoral commission to conduct an emergency 10 Day audit of the election results in the disputed states. Senators went on to say they quote intend to vote to reject the electors from disputed states. Until that emergency 10 Day audit is completed. "Bunch of members of the house from House Republicans had suggested that they will be objecting to the official. Electoral college vote tally that takes place in Congress on January 6th. That is when Mike Pence will preside over the activities of the Congress and count these electoral college votes. Throughout history in America. It's been mostly a routine affair, with some exceptions along the way a specially this century. I'll get into that in a moment. But Josh Holly became the first United States senator yesterday to indicate that he would also object to the Electoral College certification process. On January 6. Here's what he said in his statement. Well, First of all, I don't recall hearing the Democrats make any such claims. Hold tight on that.
