US unemployment rate falls to 8.4% even as hiring slows
"The blue numbers came out jobs numbers as we do every week, and the Jobs numbers that have come out in for August. The United States are added 1.4 million jobs in August, but it's still down 11.5 million jobs since the covert 19. Virus hit unemployment rate fell to 8.4% from 10.2 in July. It's below 10%. What does this mean? Well, let me get an expert on that. Think it not robbery to come and break it down for us every day. Every week Now. He had done it every month. Even when he was the Deputy secretary of Labor under President Obama. He's now senior fellow at the University of Virginia Millar Centre. Of course, I'm talking about Chris Loo. Chris Thank you for coming on. Always right. Tell us what up and down side of this job of figure for this week mean? Well, I think you put the right spin on it. The right take on it. The context we during the pandemic the first couple months, the pandemic has lost 22 million jobs. We've now gained back about 10.5 million jobs. So we're still 11 million in the hole. So This is an economy that slowly crawling out of a really deep hole. But I think there's a couple things that are noteworthy. One is the pace of job gains is slowing down, and I know that Hard to imagine when you're creating 1.4 million jobs, but that pace is slowing. Ah, and I think that certainly speaks to the fact that a lot of the economic relief that's been verv IDed has stopped. I think what's also concerning in all of this is that we're starting to see Lay off that we originally thought we're going to be temporary now becoming permanent. There's now 3.4 million. Not permanent layoffs on those air jobs that are never coming back, and then we could just look at that. News headlines and you see major companies that rely on you know, travel and tourism, most notably things like American Airlines, MGM resorts and track all saying they're cutting thousands of people, so there's more reason to be concerned about Maur, temporary layoffs becoming permanent. So look, anytime you create a million jobs. That's a good thing. But boy were in a really big hole and again we continue to see these disparities between ah white workers and people of color who are out of work or Men and women, So you know it's it's. It's a good report, but it's not a great report. And what? Uh what is the breakdown? Do you know in terms of the ethnic groups or racial group? So again? This is not surprising. We continue to see that The unemployment rate for white workers significantly lower It was 7.3% for white workers. 13% for black workers. Hispanics 10.5% Asians 10.7% So again, you continue to see black unemployment. You know whether times are good or times are bad being basically double what it is for whites. And I think what is concerning as well. You know, we know that when there are tough economic times low income workers, people of color all are often the ones that are released from their jobs first. They're also sometimes the people that are hired back the latest they have left in general, lower wages less saving, so the impact of this hits them more directly. And again as we look around the country we've got, you know, eviction moratoriums that are That are expired. We've got food bank lines that are getting longer and longer. So this is a tough time right now, For for people of color in this country Now there is no specific Plan laid out by this administration on how they're going to clothe that race. Gabbard? No, I mean, you know, Look, there there theory is always we're going to look at the stock market and you see the president again tweeting this week about You know numbers on Wall Street and and I think it continues to show kind of the disconnect in this administration's policies. I mean, they're the hallmark of what they can claim Credit for economically is passing. A tax cut in 2017 that essentially gave a trillion and a half dollars a tax cut. Most of that went to corporations and very wealthy people. Very little of it has come backto working class people, and they really have no specific Economic plan Right now, on the pandemic of anything you've got. People like Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, who are pushing for more money, and, you know, oddly, this is the president and Senate Republicans don't want that extra money. Yeah, they passed the Heroes Act in the house. They still have passed no second stimulus bill that would help workers help unemployed people in the Senate and then went on their break like it. It doesn't matter. Yeah, no, And you know the president make it made a big show of signing these executive orders to extend unemployment benefits. But that was just a couple 100 bucks for a couple of weeks. That's really not going to make a meaningful difference is most people and left out of all of this is all of the other things that were being negotiated. Like money for state and local governments so that police and teachers and firefighters out laid off money for school so that they could put safety Hard up to allow them to reopen money for additional testing. So there was a lot of other things on the table. That kind of got derailed when the president decided to go it

Please folks folks. Let me finish. And I quote from the document itself. Sorry. It's a little dusty. It is here to unanimously decreed. That the candidate, whomsoever procures betwixt the margin of six tenths and eight tenths of the vote in The Majesty state of Missouri Beneath the Pale blood moon. In fallow season shall be made our party's nominee for chief executive. It is a dramatic shakeup that caught even the DNC off guard after they discovered the parchment based rule book locked away in a hidden chamber sealed deep below their archives well. It would've been nice to know this back in March. Obviously. We're GONNA need to destroy a lot of Biden twenty twenty merchandise and we had a lot of folks voting during a pandemic for primary that was essentially meaningless. But ultimately, my hands are tied she one zero point seven percent of the Missouri. Vote. What else are we supposed to do while truly unprecedented but what does this mean? For? Democrats in two, thousand, twenty well, it's not good representative or I should say nominee Gabbard has virtually no name recognition and she's pulling in the low single decimal points no one has been able. To get in touch with her either due to her lack of any staff or campaign infrastructure. Frankly, we're not even sure what platform consists of something like ending foreign military bases. I don't really remember now Tulsi Gabbard cheese the senator from Massachusetts. Correct. Now I believe you're thinking of Elizabeth Warren Mistake, it's the one with the crystal the self-help one Marianne Williamson Oh interesting. well, I've got to admit I have no idea who you're talking about then but with that said, she did win the exact sliver of the vote in Missouri that counts in terms of receiving the presidential nomination. That's all that matters right now, what does the Biden campaign saying? This must be a disappointment for them. It certainly is they're searching for a workaround by arguing this decision is superseded by an even. Older precolonial taxed that magnificant democracy him from sixteen, Eighty two. That's the old pamphlet about how to keep Goblins from emerging out of hell and overrunning a functioning democracy. Right? That's right now, those passages suggest only papist like Joe Biden for example, has the power to resist the quote devils. Karnal source laments so far though the Democratic Party has stuck to its guns on this point seven percent of Missouri principle though. Tolsey two, thousand, twenty or bust incredible. It looks that way. We haven't seen this big of a shakeup since John Quincy Adams to the White House due to a loophole in the Electoral College granting the presidency to any candidate born with six toes on his left foot. Really stunning news. Thanks for the report dirk that's Dirk

S. district judge Anil Lisa Torah's of Manhattan made the ruling yesterday evening that they will hold the primary in June and that tore as ruled in favor of Yang and the lawsuit as it was filed by young's office and the young lawyers said this quote this unprecedented and unwarranted move infringes the rights of plaintiffs and all New York state Democratic Party voters of which are estimated to be more than six million as it is fundamentally denies them the right to choose our next candidate for the office of president of the United States the court agreeing there and saying that this that the removing that Alexion merry was unconstitutional interesting that inter Yang we get involved in this the old Yang gang has not broken up they got the gang back together looks like that's right interesting I guess he's a he's a Bernie bro now I guess he's making it known that he is part of the resistance within the Democratic Party with this little move either that or he just likes getting votes you know he's like he still has his name on the ballot again alongside a bunch of other people you realize this you about this June twenty third ballot will include Yang Sanders Warren and Michael Bennett Amy Klobuchar Tulsi Gabbard Michael Bloomberg digest of all Patrick Tom's tire all their names are gonna show up on that ballot in New York in June and that every I released a statement yesterday said quote I'm glad that a federal judge agreed that depriving millions of new Yorkers of the right to vote was wrong I hope the New York board of elections takes from this ruling a new found appreciation of their role in safeguarding our

Biden, Sanders consider changing campaign plans amid coronavirus outbreak
"Voters head to the polls today in six states the democratic race has gone down pretty much do Biden or Sanders so who Y. congresswoman Gabbard Tulsi Gabbard is still continuing for long shot campaign heading into a big primary night for the dems and much of the discussion centers around coronavirus senator Bernie Sanders telling supporters on the campaign trail his health care plan would allow people to get free vaccinations for Kobe nineteen when they hit the market on body wakes up and maybe they think they have the symptoms of crowbars yet they cannot afford to go to a doctor at Joe Biden's rally in Detroit people entering the venue were given squirts of hand sanitizer biting telling ABC news the president hasn't handled the outbreak effectively and that president trump needs to stop talking saying he makes it

Gabbard says you know they should allow her on the stage I'm going to I'm going to guess they probably won't yeah which is really making a strong appeal say put me up there is all she has not dropped out yeah no that's right but Saturday night should be really interesting and I think we'll see who the better debaters and we've had conversations off the year about what might happen to invite in Sanders and and so I don't know it was Saturday night actually should I think should be really interesting interesting about having a debate on Saturday night is it's one that many people will not function that's right many people will not see because it's not a you know normally during the week is when you get the numbers and weekends you just don't for that sort of thing so why the documentary Hillary Hillary Clinton it kind of started out yesterday right wasn't when I see that heard part of it holy smoke she didn't hold back on Bernie Sanders yeah wow so I'm this and that'll be part of the narrative to I don't know for sure will be Saturday but I I'm I'm kinda looking forward to it well they I guess tomorrow is is big like Steve Futterman just said Michigan is really one of the keys it's almost about whether just to see how things might might break and when we get to the general I wonder what the format will be Saturday too because you know the last couple of had four or five moderators it's so it's for too many probably yeah for sure especially when you've got only two candidates on stage but I don't yeah I don't know I haven't seen well anyway so that's coming up this weekend yeah well here and I'm sure you'll hear it here on WCCO also coming up today in a completely different subject is Mikey Lynch's birthday Mike's back to work after being in the Arizona desert you were there Steve user I'm not in a half I know it was well that's a suspension went that long gave what were you doing there I was doing some well I was briefed vacationing with Kathy in Tucson and then I went off to the chair couple mountains and dead it's a master photography out there in the middle of nowhere and where skies are truly dark that is N. A. and there's other astronomers the goal Arthur I go to a place called sky village it's it's like a little tiny subdivision outside of the tiny town of portal portal Arizona and there's probably about maybe two dozen three dozen houses there and a lot of them have observatory domes and I I rented one of them and just a wonderful experience portal using is aptly named yes if you're going to be looking to the sky S. yes and the no gas station within about fifty miles there's like to restaurants to small restaurants so you are isolated now to song is warm but in the wake in the night time in the desert what's it like the temperature drops off so fast and you start feeling that as soon as the sun gets close to the horizon it's that desert climate and it it it cools off fast it warms up fast and and I love it now I'm market Steve got a number on the markets right now yes stocks have just been halted Dave the the selloff happened for the first six minutes or so D. at the sell off the loop circuit breaker kicked in that means for fifteen minutes everything will pause and then they'll try it again and if it continues to tank and it goes down it's down seven percent alpha to if it goes down again the hold again for a longer period of time and at some point they could help trading for the entire day depending on if this keeps happening so it's a really interesting situational watch on Wall Street here in the next several minutes yeah we sell those futures halted overnight yep the future solid and now the Dow is down eighteen hundred eighty four points which again that's the Dow the S. and P. is what's triggering the circuit breakers so just within the first again bell just rang you just heard it about seven eight minutes ago and already we've halted things on Wall Street for the moment traffic and weather and sports all straight ahead here on WCCO news as it happens Michael dot com to schedule your free estimate of.

DNC raises debate requirements, excluding Tulsi Gabbard
"Democratic National Committee raising the qualifications to make the next presidential debate it leave only Joe Biden Bernie Sanders onstage why congressman Tulsi Gabbard still in the race she got to delegates on super Tuesday which would have qualified her based on previous guidelines but a new rule will keep her off the debate
Elizabeth Warren's Presidential Bid Comes to an End
"Senator Amy Klobuchar former South Bend Indiana Mayor Pete Brundige and former New York City mayor. Mike Bloomberg have all called it quits and today. We're adding Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren to that list. I will not be running for president in twenty twenty but I guarantee I will stay in the fight for the hardworking folks across this country have gotten short into the stick over another. That's been the fight of my life and it will continue to be so warrants progressive policy driven campaign caught fire last fall making her an early favorite to win the nomination but she had a disappointing showing in the first elections in the primary season. Including this week Super Tuesday with more on the rise and fall of Warren's candidacy we're joined by Wall Street Journal reporter Tarini Party Tarini. Last fall senator. Warren was one of the front runners for the Democratic nomination but today she became the last remaining woman among the top tier candidates drop out. How expected was this announcement at this point. Given what we saw on Super Tuesday Warren was essentially left with no choice. But to drop out there was all choose facing a lot of pressure because she didn't win a single state she came third in her home state of Massachusetts. And so you know as this race drags out with Joe Biden on one side and Bernie Sanders on the other. The more candidates who stay in the longer the Democratic primary could become. And that's something that party leaders are trying to avoid They WANNA be trump and so they think that the field should sort of consolidate And so they can have a nominee sooner rather than later and she just didn't see a path forward a viable path forward. She did not end. You know ahead of Super Tuesday. Her staff had said that they were looking at a contested convention as one of the ways that were left for her to essentially be the Democratic nominee. They were hoping that she would pick up enough delegates on Super Tuesday to make that case but she didn't get that far and at this point. She said she just saw no path forward. Let's talk about the rise and fall of her candidacy. Tarini people were talking about her back in two thousand sixteen. When Hillary was running right she chose not to run in two thousand sixteen. And this time around you know. She started off with a few missteps She really did get her footing back. She focused her campaign on Ground Game Organization. She built out a huge campaign that focused on raising money online That really Invested in field organizers in in the early states An early on she did start getting a lot of traction. You know if you go back to the late summer early fall. She was starting to become the front runner in this primary. And then that slowly started That's that's slowly. Went away as more questions about her health. Care plan started. Cropping up she eventually put out a Medicare her own version of Medicare for all And you know wasn't really able to sell that both to moderate voters and progressive voters which she said today in her press conference was interesting. She said that when she started out she was told that there were two lanes in the Democratic primary the the Progressive Lane and the The moderate lane and Joe Biden would be the front runner in the moderate Lane and Bernie Sanders was in coming on the Progressive Lane. She was told she said that there was no other path. And she said she Set at the time that she didn't believe that that she thought that she could change things and she said today that that she was wrong It seems based on the way that this primary has played out who among those remaining candidates Former Vice President Biden or Vermont Senator Sanders Might Benefit from Warren's exit. So we'll have to see you know if she decides to endorse. She said today that she's going to take some time to think. And figure things out you know a lot of her supporters. Are you know more progressive? And if you in that sense they could be. You know they could move to Bernie Sanders but she also does have a lot of college educated women who aren't necessarily you know the Bernie Sanders Type of voter so she could. You know some Some of her supporters could also back Joe Biden Tarini. Warren's departure leaves two white men in their seventies competing to run against president trump another white man in his seventies. What are we to make of the fact that this was historically diverse. Field has whittled down to this. It was historically diverse. We had six women. If you know if you're including Tulsi Gabbard and Marianne Williamson. We had six women running Tulsi Gabbard is obviously still in the race but has not gained any traction she elizabeth. Warren was the you know the the last top tier woman still running. She sort of addressed that in her in her press conference one of the hardest parts of this is all those all those little girls. We're going to have to wait four more years. That's going to be hard. What affected Warren. Have on the two thousand presidential campaign and we'll see continue to influence it going forward. I think she will continue to have Influence and be a big voice especially if she decides to endorse either Bernie Sanders or Joe Biden. Going forward how they bring up some of her policy ideas and whether they choose to incorporate those in their own campaign that will be interesting to

Gabbard Samoan rid of so don't the mother of forty yeah that is a little expensive our next I'm not everything has to be taken literally some of the Warren is just said now the Democrat in withdrawing she said it said call this a tragic loss for divesting because it's just a choice between two days is now too old like gays as an event that's not true I tell C. is still in the race so little even tells she's actually a genuine woman of color unlike a Lizabeth Warren believes both Warren even though he was not the most likeable person and even as she withdraws graceless Lee has to toss in a bit of some our phobias Samoa Samoa phobia I'd like to see some less rather than this Simone you some a phobia coming up later in the show but I'd like to see some less of our five year anyway that's Elizabeth Warren being a Samoa phobic about the reduction of the race to two keys a colossi on one little Samoan lady that who stick and then there isn't pulling out and falling into line as as all the others are doing doing that Mr snowed Laos me said this judge's thing if you threaten judges on the Canadian Supreme Court as Chuck Schumer added well I can tell you this if the leader of the Conservative Party in the Canadian Senate stood on the steps of the Supreme Court and also and threatened to judges by name that that Conservative Party leader would be gone from his job by the end of that I'll tell you something about it you know intimidating judges is a is a serious thing I mean I'm I have no one has more content for judges than me but you have to do it relatively softly I had a thing isn't necessarily ask may about a Canada when I had my difficulties with the Canadian human rights tribunal and they actually wound up repealing the law about that when they picked a fight with mesa I'm not saying I'm not like I've done the M. T. waste you know if you pick a fight with me you better be prepared to go all the way they the Canadian government picked a fight with me and my end up having to pay a little but that Canadian human rights tribunal was holding its trials in secret bigger on national security grounds like this farcical rubbish and I told them is anyone can do it anyone can pull the James Bond card and say oh wait till its hold top supersede written become tell anybody and I said that's ridiculous and I got my day friend a queen's counsel in Toronto to up that to file a motion demanding that that courtroom be opened up to the cleansing light of day and so the judge panic to no one had been onto his racket and he opened up the trial and on that first day that was me and a whole bunch of other people from the media all sitting there and he said well the nervous they there seems to be a lot more interest in this case than they used to be and he panicked and many came to rule in that case you not only he basically toss the case out saying the law that had a one hundred percent conviction rate was now suddenly mysteriously unconstitutional and I was actually a bit stunned by the minute the minute the cold room was opened up the judge who had this nice little racket going for years was suddenly too scared and decided to cut it all out and as I said so I'm I have generally speaking a planetree wide contempt for the judiciary but if you're gonna lean on them you have to do it more subtly than Chuck Schumer just threatening to smash their faces with a shovel he basically old but said I'm gonna send them too far rounded to your children's schools and and he surprised the people still object to that I tell you what let's go quickly to James in San Antonio James on the Rush Limbaugh show yes Sir are you doing today I'm doing great what's on your mind I remember right I believe was right after president trump got elected Chuck Schumer got on TV and stated that president trump had better watch what he doesn't say because the F. B. I. can get HIM six ways to Sunday and then look what happened yeah I believe I believe Mr Schumer and every time I see him on TV and opened his mouth I just want to puke well that says that shows you have excellent taste James but you are absolutely right he said that he advised trump not to go with the deep state because the deep state can get you six ways to Sunday and they got him six ways to Sunday for the next three years so when he when he then fractions to judges by name you can kinda so to take that to the bank because Chuck has form in this regard that leads to an excellent point pulling James Chuck thank you thank you that call that's an excellent point a child is sorta kinda walking back the words he used he says quote he shouldn't have used the words he did when he said they would quote to pay the price he said this on the Senate floor he said they did not come out the way I intended.

Gabbard Samoan rhythm so don't bother up for the at that is not the least bit Samoa next I'm not everything has to be taken literally some of the Warren is just said now the Democrat in withdrawing she said it should go visit tragic loss for diverse because it's just a choice between two days is now too old like geezers an event that's not true tells C. is still in the race so little even tells she's actually a genuine woman of color unlike a Lizabeth Warren believes Warren even though he was not the most likeable person and even as she withdraws grace Leslie has to toss in a bit of some our phobias Samoa Samoa phobia I'd like to see some less rather than this Simone you some a phobia coming up later in the show but I'd like to see some less of our five year anyway that's Elizabeth Warren being in Samoa phobic about the reduction of the race to to the keys that colossi on one little Samoan lady that who stick and then it isn't pulling out and falling into line as as all the others are doing doing that this is not only asked me said this judge's thing if you threaten judges on the Canadian Supreme Court as Chuck Schumer added well I can tell you this if the leader of the Conservative Party in the Canadian Senate stood on the steps of the Supreme Court and also and threatened to judges by name that that Conservative Party leader would be gone from his job by the end of that I'll tell you something about it you know intimidating judges is a is a serious thing I mean I'm I have no one has more content for judges than me but you have to do it relatively softly I had a thing is since Mrs not ask me about a candidate when I had my difficulties with the Canadian human rights tribunal I'm actually wound up repealing the law about that when they picked a fight with me so I'm not saying I'm not like I've done the panty waist you know if you pick a fight with me you better be prepared to go all the way they the Canadian government picked a fight with me on my end up having to pay a little but that can aid in human rights tribunal was holding its trials in secret a bigger on national security grounds like this farcical rubbish and I thought that was anyone can do it anyone can pull the James Bond card and say oh wait till its hold top supersede written become tell anybody and I said that's ridiculous and I got my day friend a queen's counsel in Toronto to up that to file a motion demanding that that courtroom be opened up to the cleansing light of day and so the judge panic to know wanted been onto his racket and he opened up the trial and on that first stayed with me and a whole bunch of other people from the media all sitting there and he said well the nervously there seems to be a lot more interest in this case than they used to make any payment and when he came to rule on that case he not only he basically toss the case have saying the law that had a one hundred percent conviction rate was now suddenly mysteriously unconstitutional I'm I was actually a bit stunned by that the the minute the minute the court room was opened up the judge who have this nice little racket going for years was suddenly too scared I'm decided to cut it all out and as I said so I'm I have generally speaking a planetree wide contempt for the judiciary but if you're gonna lean on them you have to do it more subtly than Chuck Schumer just threatening to smash their faces with a shovel he basically all but said I'm gonna send them too far rounded to your children's schools and he surprised the people still object to that I'll tell you what let's go quickly to James in San Antonio James on the Rush Limbaugh show yes Sir are you doing today I'm doing great what's on your mind Hey I remember right I believe was right after president trump got elected Chuck Schumer got on TV and stated that president trump had better watch what he does and say because the F. B. I can get him six ways to Sunday and then look what happened yeah I believe it I believe Mr Schumer and every time I see him on TV and opened his mouth I just want to puke well that says that shows you have excellent taste James but you are absolutely right he said that he advised trump not to go at the gate state because the deep state can get you six ways to Sunday and they got him six ways to Sunday for the next three years so when he when he then threatens to judges by name you can kind of sort of take that to the bank because Chuck has form in this regard we have some excellent bowling James Chuck thank you thank you that call that's an excellent point a child is sort of kind of walking back the words he used he says quote he shouldn't have used the words he did when he said they would quote to pay the price he said this on the Senate floor he said they did not come out the way I.

"Her and then when the opportunities presented to not to take it. Can you talk about how Tulsi Gabbard campaign is running a little bit differently than other people in the race. Yes so it's very small and it's a lot of members of her family are very involved. Her husband is the videography geography for her sister is really running the operation. Many of the people employed by the campaign have ties to her religion. A local Hawaiian in paper didn't investigation. Where they went to the how they tracked down? The House of one of her top paid consultants and he was living in Alaska. And sort of this remote. Oh place and wouldn't come to the door and it was sort of unusual for political consultant. So it's a very small operation really run by people who are very very loyal to a congresswoman Gabbard and a lot and a fair number of those people. It's also a bit of a family operation. I can see how that's comfortable but I could also see how that means your worldview W. stays rather compact. Yeah I I mean I have heard from people inside the campaign that there are questions about whether she's hearing criticism awesome and whether there are folks there to tell her. Perhaps this isn't working or that isn't working in that. You Know is a perpetual problem in presidential campaigns that nobody really wants to tell their boss the boss. They're doing something wrong. But that is the difference between candidates who take off and candidates who end up. Making mistakes is is the ability me too correct for and understand those missteps now. Gabbard candidacy is at this turning point with polls consistently putting her campaign in the single digits. She seems to be lashing out even harder at her own party last month. She threatened not to show up at the Democratic presidential debate. Seeing the system had been rigged a few weeks later she called out. Hillary Clinton saying she was the queen of warmongers. Although you could argue that Hillary Clinton Lynton started that fight. Can you tell the story of exactly what she said. Because I think there was actually some confusion about that at first okay so Hillary Clinton has been Out in public a little bit lately because she's promoting a new book that she wrote with her daughter Chelsea and is part of that push. She was interviewed by David. PLOUFFE who of course was Barack Obama's campaign hayne manager in two thousand eight On a On a podcast and at one. Point Puffins Hillary. Clinton start discussing possible strategies that trump and the republicans skins would use In the election. And she says you know that first Republicans will demonize the Democratic candidate and then she said Republicans lukens and this is where things got a controversial Republicans would encourage a third party candidate so that voters disenchanted with the president. You know on the Democrats could have another option. I'm not making any predictions. But I think they've got their eye and somebody WHO's currently in the Democratic primary and our grooming her to beat the a third party candidate she's a favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting our so far and Dan herself later said that she was referring to Tulsi Gabbard ner comments so basically what Hillary Clinton was arguing although she was not using zing Tulsi Gabbard name. was that the Russian Russian propaganda machine the kind of Internet trolls and operators that were meddling around in the two thousand sixteen election would come out and back Tulsi Gabbard and really. She was saying they already are out. And backing Tulsi Gabbard hurt and that could cost a Democrats vote In the same kind of way that impacted her race is there any truth to that that the boats are out there. You know pushing Tulsi Tulsi Gabbard message. So honestly it's really hard to know because the platforms have gotten much better at sort of taking out the most obvious botts by operations rations. So it's hard to know whether that's happening We do know there has been some analysis of Russian state television outlets like rt or sputnik and they do tend to cover Tulsi Gabbard more than they would. They cover other candidates at her level. You know the two four percent level in the race but does that mean. They're backing her. I Dunno it's hard to know but I think what's interesting in this is that Tulsi Gabbard jumped on Hillary Clinton's claims James and in fact. She was the one who said that Hillary Clinton claimed that she was being quote her words groomed by the Russian government to undermine America so Tulsi League average campaign saw this really useful talking point for them not only because it her attention widespread media attention but also helped her make the argument that it wasn't that her message didn't have appeal with voters. It was that she was somehow being hurt by the the Democratic Party forces. Let me tell you what this is about. This is about Hillary Clinton sending a very strong message saying that because I am and have long been calling for an end to our country's foreign policy of aging one regime change war after the next the likes of which we've seen in Iraq in Libya and ongoing in Syria. And because because I'm calling for an end to this new cold war nuclear arms race that I am a Russian asset that I am a traitor to the nation that I love and not only so extremely extremely online that any attention is good attention. Just keep stoking it. Yeah and look some people who have had interactions with the campaign say that it is part of their philosophy that all attention is good attention. And that's how they view it so whether that attention comes from Tulsi Gabbard or comes from Hillary Clinton attacking her. That's that's great and look there plenty of people in the Democratic Party who are really Do not like Hillary Clinton so this gave her an opportunity to really take some punches at this. He's very well known very famous. Still controversial figure in the party at the end of October Gabbard announced she would not be running for re election to Congress in twenty twenty money choosing instead to focus all of her attention on this long shot presidential bid this decision it just intensified all the questions about what Gabbard up to and whether she might stay in the presidential race even if she loses her party's nomination whenever she's been asked you said absolutely not. She's not running as a third third party candidate. But that has not done anything to tamper the speculation and I think you know all this is also wrapped up into this intense sort of Ptsd Democrats mccray have from the last election. Democratic Party strategist establishment types politicians and voters are so traumatized really it by their loss In sixteen that they see everything I think through that Lens. And there's this deep rooted fear that someone will emerge Jill Stein. Ah like figure in a tight race will cost them the election and I think when Democrats look on that stage they see Tulsi Gabbard as the candidate most likely to fill that role even though she has said again and again that she has no plans to do that. What do you think she's thinking about next steps could be in the event? She's she's not the presidential nominee. She hasn't said anything but generally politicians don't say when I become President I'm going to do x Y and Z right. Everybody is going to be he president until they're not But of course in reality that's not what people are doing their behind the scenes sort of plotting out their next moves and I have no idea whether Tulsi Gabbard is doing. Ah She hasn't said at all what she might do. Should she fail to win the nomination. which is what it looks like now? At least and so unless something in the contest changes radically. But there's there's certainly a lot of speculation. I've heard all kinds of theories. One of course is that should President trump win reelection that she would go into the trump administration and that's towns. Perhaps at its face really confusing because She's a course running for the Democratic Party nomination But what people who sort of speculate on Mat Su they point out that she met. She was one of really very very few if any Democrats who met with President trump when he was president elect that and her sort of support. From folks and trump's circle has led some Democrats to speculate whether she would go into the administration. Should he win a second term I'm curious what you think. Tulsi candidacy says about politics right now about about what she's saying about how the political world works. Well I think it's a couple of things I think we're in a period where parties are on the decline where the two mainstream parties don't all have the same level of control That they had anymore and they're sort of an ironic twist this is. I think Tulsi Gabbard is sort of creating doing this narrative of this rig system of the smoke filled room when reality her very existence her very presence on that stage shows that there is no more smoke filled room. That's gone that really Anyone who can get attention on line and build up a little money from viral moment can run for president and possibly have a place on that stage and we see that in both parties. Of course you know you look at Donald Trump and you see that same phenomenon. He certainly was not the pick of the Republican Party establishment. That much is pretty clear so I think her presence on the stage even as she spends all this time attacking the establishment it really shows how very weak parties and party establishments are in America. Right now Lisa Lehrer. Thank you so much for joining me. Thanks thanks for having me. Lisa Lehrer is a political reporter at the New York Times. She writes the newsletter on politics. We're going to be talking a bit. Then we're going to watch the democratic debate or even considering Bingo cards there's definitely going.

What next Tulsi Gabbard got a lot of attention? When she first came to Washington back in two thousand thirteen choose the first Hindu in Congress one of the youngest people elected? She was also proudly Hawaiian Ryan. She talked about bringing the Aloha spirit to politics. Still does in the beginning. This is all pretty alluring Democrats so as soon as is gathered got to Capitol Hill. She was tapped for a plum position vice chair of the Democratic National Committee. She was sort of this outspoken at progressive. She was veteran. She was a young woman. She was a surfer. People like Nancy. Pelosi said she'd be a big star. I think retail Matto so if I remember correctly he had praised her. You get to be the vice chair of the National Democratic Party because your party thinks you're going places so she was seen as this progressive veteran Karen who was very telegenic and had this great background in Hawaii and with someone that the party could sort of put forward as their their new face. Ace but then she did something that pissed a lot of people off. When Hillary Clinton was running for president well she backed Bernie Sanders bid over Hillary Clinton I and so that really isolated her from the mainstream party center? I mean you have to remember it. During that campaign a sanders was really seen as someone on the fringe. Maybe a socialist sometimes the Democrat who is challenging. Hillary Clinton who the party had really kind of anointed kid as the next nominee So when congresswoman Gabbard left her position at the DNC which she had been given because she was this rising star to go and support Bernie Sanders. That was something that really annoyed. A lot of people in the Democratic Party establishment right. And it wasn't just that it was. She was calling for more debates. Beats because that would have been advantageous to Bernie Sanders right and the concern that you know. The democratic establishments have people people had and Allies Hillary Clinton was that Hillary Clinton would get beat up in these debates those attacks by Bernie Sanders while he was unlikely to capture the nomination was sort of the mainstream thinking in Washington she would be damaged heading into general because of how he would frame her. I mean I think the endorsement of Bernie Sanders it kind of got people interested in the idea of hold it. Who who is this woman? How did she get here and a lot of people all started talking about how she was raised in this pretty unconventional way where she didn't go to traditional school? She was raised Hindu. But it was in this kind of breakoff movement From the Hari. Krishna's Krishna's can you. Can you describe a little bit how she actually became interested in politics in the first place. Well actually she's from a political family. Her mother was on the Hawaii State Board of Education. Her father was Honolulu Council member. He was a political activist. And that's come back to haunt her a little bit. Her Father Mike captured was one of the state's leading opponents of LGBTQ rights and he found an organization that was opposed to marriage equality and really tolerance for homosexuality quality. So that's something that those positions that she has had to renounce during the first days of her presidential campaign so she's from she's from the political background around. You know it's just a political background local politics in Hawaii but Gabbard politics could be unpredictable even before she endorsed Bernie Sanders. Her colleagues noticed. She didn't want to carry water for the party. Especially when it came to foreign policy she walked this line as a member of the army reserve. She'd vote to to support the military but other things. She's kind of a wild card so she also picked a few fights with the Obama Administration. That Democrats really didn't like if you remember the whole fight over where Republicans demanded that President Obama used the term radical Islam. She was really the only Democrat to join in that Republican call and went on Fox News and made a big deal of the fact that the president would not use the term radical Islam. She dubbed Herself Hawk on on terrorism. Those were foreign policy positions that were really out of the mainstream of democratic thinking and in some cases anathema to what Democrats are trying to do so she was already kind of getting attention from folks saying This isn't typically what we would expect from our junior congresswoman right. I think our focus on sort of the terrorism terrorism threat led to her sort of quasi support for Bashir al-Assad. I mean I think she would not consider herself a supporter of Assad. But she's been very reluctant reluctant to criticize him. Would you say he is to the United States if you cannot say that. He's an adversary or an enemy. What is Assad to the the? US What is the word you can describe it however you want to describe it how you just my point. Is that whether it is Syria. or any of these other countries as we need to look at how their interests are counter to or aligned with ours and she's argued that really the best way to defeat Isis in Syria was for the US to align itself with Assad. And that of course means that really. You're aligning yourself with Russia and Putin and so as things developed over the past few years and and certainly with Russia's intervention in the election last time around that's led to a lot of questions about her the thing I have trouble with when I look at Tulsi Gabbard sort of record and and what she says about. The issues is finding an overarching philosophy. Because I think it's interesting that she talks about the military in a different way in a lot of other politicians do having served in the military. But I can't quite tell what the bigger messages about where we should involve ourselves solves and how we should behave abroad right. I think you're you're hitting at the central the central facet that people find confusing about Tulsi. Gabbard is that there's no. There seems to be no intellectual consistency in terms of her message. No foreign intervention then. She's she's reluctant to say sort of negative things about Assad or mody Or even Putin she's you know it's it's just it's confusing. I WanNa talk a little bit about the various people who have come out supporting Tulsi Gabbard because it is this really diverse like almost strange constituency where you know she was obviously closely aligned with Bernie Sanders. She came on early to support him. But then also you have people like Steve Bannon coming forward. You have people like David Duke. You have a lot of fans on four Chan. Have you been in those fourteen discussions. Can you characterize them a little bit. Well they call her mommy. That's that's her nickname. And those four Chan message boards. Look I think they People on four Chan like these kind of candidates who stirred up who take on the establishment who are fighting sort of mainstream figures and she definitely has positioned herself in that space. She is someone who has positioned herself as an opponent of the establishment. Even as she she runs for one of the major parties nomination I mean I think Tolsey herself would say she wants to talk to all Americans. That's why you see her on Fox News more than INSA- Elizabeth Warren and I wonder what you think about that as a political reporter. Well I think that's fine and it's certainly a fair argument to talk to all L. A.. Barricades but I think I you have to win. Democratic primary rate and so you don't win Democratic primary by going on Fox News that's not where your voters are. She has a very a strong fan. Base is not necessarily very large based on her polling numbers both national and state polls but it's very active and it's very active online and it feels very strongly about Tulsi Gabbard. An ice tea from people have reached out to me. You know an emails or whatever sometimes these people are independents or Republicans. They're not sort you've always. Some of them are traditional. Democrats are not always you know. She has attracted people with a wide variety of views and they feel very strongly about her and they also really feel that The mainstream media's out together I mean you asked Gabor's campaign about her support from sort of fringe peer groups and they declined to respond to that strike. You as odd. You know what I did find that a little bit odd because they spend. There's a lot of time complaining about how she's not being uncovered by the media and how the media even the New York Times and CNN is she called us out at The debate we sponsored is out to get her but I gave them multiple opportunities for two knees to comment. I asked for an interview to sit down with her And those were all turned down so I I did find that. A bit confusing The complaints that the media is not covering.

"Breath I'm Sarah Kenser the author of the bestselling book the view from Flyover Country and the upcoming book hiding in plain sight I'm Andrea Chalupa journalist and filmmaker and the around the world we're beginning our show today with very sad news Elijah Cummings the Chairman of the House Oversight Committee died suddenly last week at age six st eight this is a tremendous loss for our country cummings is probably the most universally liked entrusted Democrat and Congress everybody respected him putting new and very progressive representatives Pelosi and other old school Democrats and the other Democrats who are deeply engaged in the trump corruption investigations in a fractious era cummings who is known for his moral integrity and commitment to accountability was the Linchpin Holding Democrats in Congress together and now he's John Members of Congress seemed shocked by his death including his close friends cummings had worked until the end signing subpoenas hours before he died his cause of death was listed complications from a long illness but the illness remains unnamed though he had had heart surgery in two thousand seventeen in September two thousand nine hundred Cummings told the Baltimore Sun that he was in good health cummings is involved in the trump Russia investigation from the very start he is the person who sent the letter to Mike Pence in Two Thousand Sixteen Documenting Michael Flynn's illicit activity a letter which proves pence Newel Flynn's crimes and did nothing about them this is important now is people consider whether pence can be impeached along with trump cummings also oversaw the Mike Owing hearing in February twenty nine thousand nine hundred which is probably the most effective public hearing regarding trump and his mafia ties though we didn't know it at the time investigations radically curved or shut down after that point when you watch that hearing you can see the respect that cummings commanded among his peers and his uncompromising stance against corruption what he did not be replicated and he will be impossible to replace coming spent the last two months of his life being attacked by the trump administration while facing threats personal security immediately following Muller's week will testimony on July twenty fourth a testimony that nonetheless demonstrated trump had committed numerous impeached offenses Cummings gave impassioned plea for Americans to be vigilant and to fight for their democracy not about not liking the president is loving democracy it's about loving our country it's about making a difference for generations yet one that's what this is all about and I'm begging I'm begging the American people to pay attention to what is going Orne because if you WANNA have a democracy intact for your children and your children and generations yet unborn We have got to God this moment this is our watch that clip of Cummings went viral three days later on July twenty seventh at around six am Trump went on twitter tirade insulting Cummings here's a sampling of what he said representative. Elijah cummings has been a brutal bully shouting and screaming at the eight men and women of Border Patrol about conditions at the southern border when actually is Baltimore district is far worse and more dangerous his district is considered the worst in the USA. as proven last week during a congressional tour the borders clean efficient well-run just very crowded coming district is a disgusting rat and rodent infested mess not that language of infestation which we hear over and over again from trump if he had spent more time in Baltimore maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous and filthy place things responded by saying Mr President I go home to my district daily each morning I wake up and then go and fight for my neighbors. It's my constitutional duty to conduct oversight of the executive branch but it's my moral duty to fight for my constituents and in follow up tweets coming went on to detail the ways he's done just that what no one knew at the time was that just hours before trump's tweets someone had tried to break into cummings home on August second coming spoke publicly about the break in saying quote individual attempted to gain entry into my residents at approximately three forty a m on Saturday ally twenty-seventh I was notified of the intrusion by my security system and I scared the intruder away by yelling before the person gained entry into the residential portion of the House this prompted an investigation by congressional security officials as to according to have all places Fox News and I quote whether the break in was a random crime or if there is a threat nexus tied to cummings due to trump's comments and then trump hours after the news that robbery was made public tweeted sarcastically really bad news the Baltimore House of Elijah Cummings was robbed too bad officials I found the person who broke into his house or concluded whether trump or anyone tied to or inspired by trump was involved we don't know now if this investigation in is still ongoing one surprising thing about Elijah Cummings is that even though he was one of the most determined investigators have trump corruption he was slow to call for impeachment compared to his colleagues he finally did so on September twenty fourth as Chairman of the House Oversight Committee he then became one of three committee heads running the investigation coming tweeted when the history books are written about this tumultuous era I want them to show that I was among those in the House of Representatives who stood up to lawlessness tyranny and now a few weeks later he's dead so Andrea thought son Elijah Cummings his legacy his death. The House is left to do now well Elijah Cummings stood for are what is needed in this moment in history and that is moral progress moral progress you get advance in technology and science but without the moral progress your empty as a society case in point Nazi scientists that did experiments on live people for instance how many of those Nazi scientists have but they were lacking in any morals and so what we need in this moment to who cleanser system of Jeffrey Epstein who through his money around including to Mit oh what we need in this moment to cleanser system from bloodsoaked Russian oligarchs money around including institutions like Harvard and Cambridge and Oxford and so forth and the Center for Foreign Relations is moral progress at the heart of everything that's needed in this moment right now is for the moral progress to catch up to where we are with advancements of science and technology because without it we're doing and Elijah Cummings stood for that and he showed up for his community so for all of us feeling his great loss in this moment the number one thing that you need to do to honor him especially in this critical you sure that we are facing which is twenty twenty where you have the trump family that must stay in power to avoid facing justice that is what was avalanched by the Miller report that Donald Trump is a criminal and that he should he would otherwise be facing a court hearing with the fact that he's president based on some you know just a few decades old DOJ memos and so forth right will always keep reminding you that just you understand what this how high the stakes are in two thousand twenty so if you want to honor and we all must now honor the legacy the hard work sacrifice of Elijah Cummings how far he went as an example of the best of America the best of our nation's capable of the best way to for him now is to show up show up show up and we now have to fight like hell because if we don't it's going to get harder fight if we don't fight our hearts out now in the little time that we have left the cage doors are closing on us and pretty soon we're going to have to fight like the protesters in Hong Kong long were they show up to protest with letters saying goodbye to their parents in their backpacks because they might not come back because he might be killed that's what that's what the protesters are doing now. In Hong Kong so to avoid our country getting to that point which it very well could I remember we are the crazy ladies that I've been telling you what to expect and people haven't listen to us for so long so now we're telling we're running out of time we're running out of time and so you need to.

Tomorrow Democratic presidential candidate better work is live on the view with his plan to reignite a campaign that went from red hot to not flood his wife Amy Hoover Sanders joins him for their first national national interview together and the SUCC- seems dealer from girls Chip Cookie Syrah boasts Sharon why he still single and taking his time to find love. Hey we are back with congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard Megan yes so congressman the lineup for the next democratic debate with just announced and this time you're going to be on stage with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. You called her attack on Biden a political ploy. I pressed her on this when she was on the show a few two weeks ago <hes> I WANNA know. Do you expect more confrontations this time time around and will you call it for what it is like you did last time I will continue to call it for what it is. I think that voters across this country deserve to see the contrast positions is that we have amongst our candidates and the Democratic primary <hes> but you know attacks just for the sake personal attacks attacks just for the sake of trying to push yourself forward <hes> in the campaign. I think our underhanded do I I do I do. I mean really when it came out. Her position was the same as what Biden is saying. His position is but the thing that I'm looking forward to doing it. The debates and it's an important platform to have this opportunity in front of millions of people is really to talk about some of the things we discussed today about the most important responsibility of the president has is commander in chief and the experience that I bring <hes> both as a soldier for over sixteen years <hes> deployed twice to the Middle East serving Congress almost seven years on Foreign Affairs Armed Services.

"To run for President Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard yeah talking a little bit today about the situation down in Puerto Rico Rico yes and <hes> you traveled there and just stand in solidarity with the protesters who are calling the governor on him to resign so tell us what you saw what you heard it was incredible. You know the energy you can in some of the video and some of the pictures but it's unlike any other protests I've ever seen where you have thousands of people coming together. <hes> people who are elderly walking with Canes Little Kids Families Students people of all ages walks of life singing playing music dancing and really standing with a unified voice. Yes calling on the governor to resign but really what's driving. This is more than these leaked chats. It's early this long standing corruption that people there have been suffering under and that really came to light in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria so with a lot of the folks that I talked to you. They said this is about life and death <hes> seeing their loved ones struggle and suffer because they couldn't get clean water after the hurricane for months. They couldn't get electricity so this is a breaking point and I don't think they're going to back down until he resigns just the right thing. What do you think it's odd that we're seeing this little tiny places? This idea that the the the rule of law doesn't is seems to be eroding that that's that's the danger and I was asking some of the folks there what happens if he doesn't and that's one of their fears and he doesn't resign than it shows. There's no accountability you know Oh you can get away with not just saying really really offensive things and making threats against women and other government officials but you can get away with stealing taxpayer dollars winding your own pockets with dollars that were meant to help people their greatest greatest need medicaid money sounds familiar across the board congresswoman..

"C. Gabbard saying as much people to judge who was just here in Indianapolis over the past couple days wants to get back into a deal with Iran good good idea or bad idea to get back into a deal with Iran and if if the United States did decide to go back into a deal what would you do differently this time well it is the same Iran was foreign minister just said that the United States as a terrorist organization today and that they don't negotiate with terrorists I mean this is we only bonkers intend pot regime this is essentially North Korea so if you want to sign a piece of paper and believe these people and and that's you know that really brings into question the judgment of these democratic candidates it was brought into judgment when president Obama said he wanted to do it but then he did it Iran repeatedly broke the deal and now there are other Democrats saying well that would be great we should do that again it boggles the mind how they keep making the same mistakes over and over and and expecting some different results be honest with you I don't think there is an agreement that we can have with the Iranian regime that they would comply with unless we agreed to bomb Israel or you know we we were to draw all of our diplomats from Israel and declare that it's no longer a country I mean that's all the end goal here for Iran is to destroy Israel and to turn it into one big Palestinian state controlled by Hezbollah so it would be if we do have more control Jerusalem then sure that's a deal with Iran will comply with someone means to this and how do you engage the sensors aims whether it is your your north Korea's or your or your rain or uranium's when obviously though the scenario that you.

"Economy join me in a string in this new century with peace prosperity opportunity and justice for all if you're a Democrat primary voters and that was your first introduction to tell C. Gabbard that's a good message that's a woman who's a veteran that's a woman who served our country that the woman who's saying enough of the right things it's an attractive woman that is up there it's a young woman and you're gonna okay not for the sniping never this bull crap with Elizabeth Warren we don't worry about the campaign against you know your fake Indian you know obviously Beto totally tank will get into that a little bit you got it it's like building Blasi up there you've got site Cory Booker I like her I knew that I just knew it because studying this I know by the way here's the thing until the gabber she got billboards all over South Carolina if we're just looking at anecdotal evidence she's got billboards all over South Carolina HM think about this New Hampshire is a state that has notoriously box trends and and voted for independence in their presidential primary so you got anecdotal evidence that she's got a groundswell support South Carolina even if it's not showing up in the polls yet you've got New Hampshire which is a state that is made for someone like her if she can hold it together she in Iowa she's got a puncher's chance and once this field search then the then we'll see what happens now speaking of which the problem of Tulsi Gabbard gonna have is right now she kind of got a lane to herself because if you're Booker if you're Warren if you're Biden if you're Kamelot if you're booted chads you're focused on the top tier because you only got so much time and even got to keep your ammo trained on the right number we left a Bernie Sanders there as well you got to just keep your animal training either trump socks or going after the the your other top tier people eventually this will narrow down to where it probably in August when they they're changing the rules to you got up to percent a hundred thirty thousand donors you'll probably have eight to ten people on the stage at that point all be the front runners that's when I I think we're gonna see what Tulsi Gabbard made up because I think she's going to continue to climb in the polls I'm not saying she's going to become a front runner but I'm saying I think you could easily see her start to get in that five to ten percent area which will certainly get her on the debate stage certainly make her concern for the top tier people at some point then when they turn the turn the fire on her that's when we'll see we won't know with her until August how she stands out because she's gonna free lane for a while but it's gonna be good right and you know I never miss an opportunity to tell you how is right debate night to the drug called another guy told is going to win did he look on how the hell that happened but that coming up next ninety three W. "You should go read the article, it's incredibly long I disagree with a lot of it. But this is how they're going to think. And this is what they're going to do. They're going to try and find everything they possibly can to go after. And they mentioned the abortion thing in the gay marriage thing as well. Not that that's going to be an issue. I mean, of course, you know, Boertien will be an issue, but the. Marriage thing is not an issue, but they're going to use that as a way to try and discredit her. My thing is this do I want tolsey Gabbard to be president. Not really I kinda like what we're getting right now. And you might disagree with me. But I do think what we can agree on this, especially as libertarians. Whether you're a libertarian the Republican party big l libertarian or an independent libertarian. I think a blue libertarian strategy is what we need to push for whether it lasts a few months of the whole time going up until the convention or not what we need to understand is this what we have is an opportunity to push the narrative in our direction. We don't lose from that. What you see whenever someone else becomes president? Is that libertarians loose some libertarian skein some same goes wrong drag, and he was not a perfectly battalion either when the head and deregulated a lot a spouse allow libertarian virtue. But what did we get? We got a lot of out of control deficit spending. Thing that happens constantly, no government agency was actually abolished or downside downsized. I mean at the office personal management under Daniel Devine. They did limit. They bring down the federal workforce. But then you look at things like the assault rifle ban. And we consider Reagan to be perfect. Here's the thing. We're never going to get perfect. It's just not going to happen. But we can push further. I think we're better now than what we will have gotten anything. I mean, can you imagine I support at Ted Cruz? I don't imagine. Ted Cruz calling out NATO calling out other leaders meeting of North Korea doing half the things that Trump did. I don't I've never supported rand Paul. In terms of you know, when he ran for president. But could you imagine Rampal doing in the fat? No. Because at the end of the day, your member rand Paul much like every other politician, still try taking the Amtrak train from Washington over the Wall Street to try and get some money from the bankers. They all do Jabr. It's probably going to do that. I'm not painting out to be a same. I can sell you that miss. I hate the banks. Elizabeth Warren might be doing that sue and remember a big war big union. Like what we saw Bernie Sanders big union is no different than a big Bank. Or what have you because they're still taking money one way or another, and they could be as just of a big deciding factor in terms of the financial aspects of a race as anything else. I mean, look look at the money that Sanders Scott from the unions and twenty sixteen it was pretty insane. It matched out of what Hillary was getting in terms of her Wall Street aid from Goldman Sachs in the like. Tolsey gabbard. I don't want. I don't think she's going to get the democratic nomination. But I can tell you that I do plan when the democratic primary comes around here in Virginia. If she stays in that long, assuming she stays in that long if she does she will be getting my vote because she gets she is a net worth for liberty. She's pushing against the Republican establishment. She's pushing against the democratic establishment much like Walter blocks reasons for libertarians for Trump. I do believe that foreign policies the big issue not just for the lives and the morality of it. Also, the fact that you could bring this up to your publican friends were broke us this argument where twenty trillion and the whole how much spending do we put in foreign aid and bombs and everything else. Why I mean, how can we spend more money that we don't have? She is going to bring that discussion to the table. I don't think Trump is going to be challenged. If he is challenged. I doubt foreign policies going to be one of those. Issues. But I think libertarians if we try our let's call it the blue libertarian strategy..

"It's a open socialist magazine. But it's good under. Dan, how the other side thinks they wrote an article titled tolsey Gabbard. Way. That's not it. Let's see what the whole thing was one second. Okay. Yeah. This is this is the the Jackson article is titled tolsey Gabbard is not your friend, and it's a long long article. So highly suggest you read it because I'm only gonna go through enough. And let's go ahead and get started during her twenty twelve house campaign. She ran ads complaining, endless war. She is called for the pulling out of Afghanistan, the longest war on US history. Suggesting that the government invest the money instead and rebuilding our own nation through long-term infrastructure projects. She's opposed intervention serious and twenty thirteen airstrikes in Iraq arm sales Saudi Arabia. She back Sanders democrat primary because of Clinton's record of supporting interventionist regime change. All this created the impression that Gabbard. Unlike much of the Democratic Party is anti war. She's not and what they do is they go ahead, and they basically try and gather on being supposedly aunts high Islam because she is she's anti jihad think about it. She's hindu. Look look at what's going on between India and Pakistan, and how Muslims if you saw that film some dog millionaire who are extremely religious zealots. We'll go after Hindus we should probably see that coming especially when we see what's happened with organizations like ISIS. They go out, and they basically start tacking her as, you know, conservative lackey because Breitbart wrote many nice articles because Allen west former congressman island Westbank nice about her because she's gotten along. So well with Republicans it's a pretty weak article. In fact, what they try and do is they try and tie her to white supremacism one point they say Gabbard brand of anti interventionism has even been praised by former KKK grand wizard. David Duke who calls for her to be named secretary of state. They're trying to reach for anything and everything they possibly can to take her out..
