Rand Paul: What We Can Learn From South America's Failures

"Paul Senator I get your point You're right I think in the short term you're correct I don't want to be overly apocalyptic I think Biden's approval numbers are clearly indicative that the argument that we can spend money without consequence is kind of gone by the wayside But I think long-term we just the media keeps blocking running like an offensive tackle blocking the story I'll give you a perfect example not to get into global affairs but Gustavo Petrov and Columbia center the guys that devout communists He just got elected in Colombia In countries in South America some of them were just starting to turn the corner And you have this pernicious idea this socialist idea of top down authoritarianism led by big government spending and economic control that just continues to resurface around the world And you'd think after this inflation crisis we could finally put this thing to bed for once Yeah and there's so much that can be learned by looking at the failures in South America You know my wife and I wrote a book called the case against socialism and in it we tell the story of socialism in Venezuela they've destroyed their money prices are rising at 50% not a year a month there's a lack of food The average person in Venezuela has lost 30 pounds not from dieting but from lack of food And their system their economic system and socialism the generals get fat that dear leader president for life gets fat but the ordinary citizen is grounds around There are actually stories of people eating their pets for lack of food But Venezuela has more oil underground than Saudi Arabia so you can take a rich country with lots of natural resources and destroy it with socialism That's the story we need to keep talking about because some of the young people in our country think it would be a good idea to try socialism But it's been a disaster everywhere it's been tried

Well, here's the deal. The Atlanta fed, which is one of those organizations that the Federal Reserve, like the main Federal Reserve, actually pretty closely tracks everybody pretty closely tracks. They just came out with a brand new number, predicting the growth that we would have or the lack thereof, I should say, in the second quarter, it turns out it's zero, big, fat,

A Detailed Refutation of Bill Barr Who Slandered '2000 Mules'

"I want to focus in on some remarks that were made, well, vote by Bill Barr and then separately by Liz Cheney on 2000 meals. I'll get to Liz Cheney a little bit later, but I want to start here with Barr and here is just a glimpse of what Barr had to say. The election was not stolen by fraud. And I haven't seen anything since the election that changes my mind on that. Including the 2000 mules movie. So I want to begin with the kind of fat guy laughing. It was kind of detached from the rest of his comments. And it was, there were two elements to it. It was a contemptuous laugh on the one hand, and also a sycophantic nervous laugh on the other hand. I've watched it a couple of times just to kind of gauge what bar is really up to. And as I was thinking about bars kind of laughing, it reminded me of these really fat kids in my school in India. And I noticed that they were always like, and I think to myself, why are these rotund kids? 7 years old or 9 years old, so good natured. They occurred to me while it's really two reasons for it. One is they can't fight. But the others they can't run. So as a result, it's like good nature. And this is bar. He's a very strange character. If I try to think of him, he reminds me kind of of the stereotypical small town sheriff. You know, the kind of overweight kind of immobile guy who can't really move around. A rank and competence, you know, you have the whole town is being robbed under his watch, and then when he's asked like, how did it happen, sheriff? You know, there were fats I was like, I don't robbed what? I think it was a robbery going on. So this is bar. The unseriousness of his approach really a little bit startling to

Alex Berenson Talks About Weed and It’s Crushing Effect on Society

"With us right now is Alex berenson, who deserves a lot of credit for his research throughout the entire pandemic and kind of being a contrarian data focused voice, which I think he deserves just our praise because he became a great cost for him personally and professionally Alex welcome back to the program. Charlie, thanks for having me. Alex, I want to talk to you about a different book though than your commentary on COVID. And it's just interesting because our audience has mixed views on this. My view is pretty well known. I'm not a fan of marijuana or weed, I think that there's an untold story around the consumption of marijuana that isn't always highlighted in the media. You wrote a book called tell your children the truth about marijuana mental illness and violence. Tell us about the arguments you make in the book. Tell us why you wrote the book and did you come into like beginning with any sort of opinion before you went on your research journey? Sure. So tell your children came out in 2019 about three and a half years ago now almost. And I wrote it over the previous couple of years, my wife is a psychiatrist, a forensic psychiatrist, actually. So that means she deals with the criminally mentally ill. Mainly. And she had seen a lot of patients who had committed crimes under the influence of cannabis. And sometimes other drugs too, but and sometimes alcohol. But cannabis really was the thread that was common in all of these. So she encouraged me to look at this connection and, you know, I'd been a reporter for The New York Times for ten years and I'd covered mainly the pharmaceutical industry, but I really didn't have much of a view about cannabis legalization. I'd used a handful of times in my life, but it was not a drug that I'd used a lot or cared particularly about. Either way. And what I found was that she was right. You know, of course she was right. She treated these people. And knew what she was looking for and knew what had happened. But there's a huge body, a huge and growing body of scientific research that canvas really is dangerous to a lot of people's mental health. It's not just that it can SAP your motivation or make you sort of fat and lazy, these sort of these tropes about stoners. It's that if you use too much, especially at a young age, if you started a young age, if you start in your teens, your early to mid teens and you use heavily. And it is addictive, so people will, you know, a lot of people wind up using more than they think they're going to use. You can have psychotic episodes, and you can sometimes some people probably people with a genetic predisposition, although it's not always clear, may develop permanent psychosis, a permanent psychotic condition known as

The Assault on the Concept of Beauty

"You can make the case. There is a case to be made. Why not feature I don't know what word it is overweight. I mean, overweight doesn't quite do what fat does. And the issue was not fat shaming or any other stupid slogan. That shuts down amist dialog. What Jordan, what Jordan Peterson is speaking about is that we have systematically talk about systemically. We have systematically or the society via the left forgetting swimsuit models in architecture and art, there has been an assault on the concept of beauty. And he feels that this is part of it. Now there are overweight, truly overweight women who are beautiful. If one is speaking, of course, about the woman's face, which is what beautiful usually signifies that is true. And God knows that when I see such a woman, my heart breaks. For her, because it's not true that every truly overweight person has just goes home and eats a box of donuts. There are very many other forces involved. Many of which are not even known. Nutrition is a very, very poorly, studied subject in medical schools. I don't even know if it's addressed.

And the line debuted with three collections, nearly naked, lightweight shaping garments, mesh me, smoothing, mesh styles that can be worn as in or outerwear and major label. An assortment of athleisure essentials such as leggings and sweatshirts. I believe she worked with the designer Omar on one of the tent maker. No, seriously, no more jokes. If you big girls want to act like being morbidly obese, represents a positive role model, emphasis on role. Okay, one more joke. Then just fucking own it. And for a long time, that's all lizzo has done. I know she's miserable inside. We all know she cries when she's alone at night. "All right, fat war and sharp rise in interest rates pose risks to U.S. economy. Bitcoin falls from falls 55% from its high, according to The Wall Street Journal. What's this all mean? Well, it means exactly what I told you two months ago. We are headed for stagflation with inflation and a recession at the same time. It's a replay of the Carter presidency. It's a replay of the aftermath of the Carter presidency. All kind of compressed. I think the rebound from the Carter presidency at the end of the next Republican president will be very, very quick. Come 2025, but we're stuck because Joe Biden's reflex. Let's spend more money. That will not work. In fact, you got to drain the money out of the system. There is no scientific way to do this. You have to use a bludgeon. You have to use a hammer on interest rates to drive out inflation.

America's Woke Cultural Detox

"So when you get maybe you feel overweight or when you feel a little sloppy, there's a, there's a good impulse that we humans have that you should act upon, not all impulses are bad, where you say, man, I need to. I need to change what I'm eating. I need to change my diet. Now, a modern term for this that is used, especially in the health circles, is to detox. This is why you'll see some people walking around, drinking celery juice, and doing keto diet, which is ketosis to get your body into a state of ketosis. Don't recommend that, by the way. It could be very bad for your heart. It's what people go on diets and start working out and that's a good thing. When people start to embark on a journey of self improvement, we should be supportive of that. We should tell and we should encourage people to continue to try to make themselves a better version of themselves. In fact, you're going to start to see that a lot coming up in the coming months when people are going to start to get back into the gym or go outside and try to assume a healthier lifestyle. Now that is happening individually, but it's also happening culturally. The same sort of impulse where you start to evaluate why am I eating these donuts for breakfast? Why am I having a three course lunch? Why am I having dessert every night? Maybe I need to cut back. Maybe I need to reprioritize what I'm putting into my body so that I can actually have an outcome that I can live with that I can have progress and I could be on the journey of self improvement. The very same thing is happening right now with the information and the content that we as a society consume and process. The very same way as now people are starting to reject donuts and saturated fats and fried foods, people are now starting to say, why am I paying money every single month? Voluntarily for a subscription service that is feeding me the equivalent of saturated fats that might feel good when I watch it, but I feel really bad afterwards and it doesn't make me happier. In fact, it makes me sadder

"Those recommendations to eat vegetable oils have been coming out in fact saturated fats. They're extremely stable. And they do not cause inflammation. They do not create the free radicals because they are not unstable. We've been told that eating saturated fat clogs arteries and if you follow physiology and see what happens when you eat fat. It does not work this way. I know that mindsets are not easy to change. And i totally understand if you're questioning adding fat tear diets because the suspension of dogma and spent a lot of programming on the news in the newspaper in schools in medical practices all over the place. For many many years for decades they've been preaching to eat vegetable oils and avoid saturated fat. So i understand if this is a challenging concept to get. But that's why. I'm doing this episode today. So you can start to learn the information for yourself and take charge of what you think is right for your body. Let's talk a little bit about heart. Disease heart disease is caused by inflammation. And this next piece. And i'm gonna tell you is something that will continue to come up in the rest of season six over and over and over so pay. "But studies have shown that doctors have anti fat bias to in one survey of four hundred doctors. Almost twenty percent admitted that they disliked or were disgusted by obese patients. Studies have found. That patients are picking up on this. They're like yeah. I can tell and they tell researchers that doctors are crappy to them which makes them not wanna go in one person. We reached out to said that she was afraid to go to the doctor. Because of this we also hear stories of doctors being so focused on a patient's weight that they totally miss serious health problems like janet told us about this one woman named rebecca but initial symptom. That made her go to. The doctor was that she was having trouble. Breathing and several physicians attributed her difficulty breathing to her body mass index. They said you're obese. That's why he can't breathe. You need to lose some weight. Come back later. And in actuality rebecca had was lung cancer. That's really terrifying. It is okay. So where does this leave us. Well for people with higher beam is we do see an increase in some conditions like diabetes and some cancers and mobility problems but this is far from universal. Lots of fatter people are perfectly healthy. And of course some skinnier people are unhealthy. A few scientists told me that it's best to think of a high bmi as just one risk factor not the be all end all generally though if we could wave a magic wand and make everyone on earth a normal bmi we probably would be healthier. The problem is harry potter has been canceled. There is no magic wand and weight. loss's super hard. In fact only something like one in five people who tries to lose weight can lose it and keep it off so given that it probably makes more sense to stop obsessing over the scale and pay more attention to our behaviors. but we're eating. And how much removing for example. One dutch study followed overweight and obese. People for fifteen years and found that those who got lots of exercise had no increased heart disease risk and a bunch of other studies find similar things. That healthy behaviors cut down lots of problems regardless bmi for me personally all this made me realize there was no reason to freak out when i crossed over into this overweight category. "The armstrong and getty show recently a man ended his first date with the woman in rather unusual way. He gave his date a ride on the back of his motorcycle. Ran a red light to try to impress and then leads cops on a high speed chase at over one hundred miles an hour into a high speed motorcycle chase on a first date still better than the guy wants talking about crypto. That's why so the battle between nikki. Montage and all are haters continues. mickey mirage. the What do you call her. I mean she's a hip hop star but she's also kind of a Cartoonish influence of a certain subculture. Yeah that's actually pretty good anyway. So she didn't go to that stupid met gala because They required vaccinations by the way. I love the pictures coming out of there. All the superwealthy super connected super rich people. They're all unmasked with all the servants around wearing masks. I love those pictures. Just like at the nancy pelosi event in california from a couple of weeks ago so the important people don't have to wear masks all the servants have to wear masks and the left doesn't have a problem with that. That's that's as they wear their twenty thousand dollar gowns. Anyway nikki manashe. They want you to get vaccinated for the matt if i get vaccinated. It won't be for the matt. I'm doing my research on it right now. Then she tweeted out. This is the one that has gotten all the attention..

Hey why we got yawn gerry Is there gonna be any long lasting damage. Done to buy out of this afghanistan thing or will Will we turn the page. Like we do. Know new issues come along vaccine mandate or whatever the hell and just move on. Yeah i think jack the real the real coaching answer. There is both because. I think there is going to be some lasting impact and particularly the the challenge is going to be what happens next and then next in other words in the next year's time what actually occurs i mean if there are if they are literally video images on americans. Tv screens around the country. Women being beaten of all kinds of atrocities that people have feared happening in afghanistan. And of course if they're americans that are discovered that somehow meet their demise under the taliban or somehow you know endangered or threatened. Or i mean. There's there's a lot of shoes yet to drop in this. That could be very bad. For president biden most notably an including members civilized own party. Who still believe that. This was not done well. And who want investigations and hearings in congress to go on for some time and required gary. They'd know republicans have made no bones about the fact that they are going to if they win. Control the house next year dig into this very deeply and then the other heavy jacket obvious. There'll be a lot of issues between now and november of twenty two. That's my point that just this sort of thing. That didn't happen so very many years ago. If tony orlando tells me to kiss his ass it's going to appear in print one of the guys from three dog night's says you're an ass you're a richard that's news. I don't know if those are particularly good examples Bottom of this hour. We're gonna talk to our one of our favorite political analyst. Gary dietrich about what's going on in california with the recall and if it has any national implications i believed that crap but maybe it does. Maybe i don't know. Young of sticks tells kamla harris to shut up or media. I was looking at this video. I mentioned parish australia. Where they're having like full-on riots over mask mandates and vaccine mandates like. This one is from canada. Police officers firefighters and paramedics gathered at a big part can toronto for a silent protest against the mandatory. Vaccinations looks like hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of police officers firefighters and paramedics the gathered in the park all all lined up to show that they don't want mandatory vaccinations. Okay can we please move past the narrative of its fox viewers and trump voters. All right. there are plenty of people that don't like the government forcing them to get shots. "It's a great way to get us back in our tribes. Are you pro. Vacs you follow science or one of those stupid idiot. Trump voters who are antitax. Even though people are anti vaccine answered all sorts of descriptions sure the riots in paris in australia not because the trump. Yeah yeah. I mean i was gonna dive into some of the unconstitutionality of it but it has to do with the the government deputising companies to force people to make a medical decision which is just wildly. Know out of order and not doable. It's skirts all the rules of osha. Osha supposed to keep people safe on the job by regulating what they do on the job and how their job works. Have you ever heard of osho mandating that. Somebody do twenty five pushups once a day. So they're strong enough to be a lumberjack or or osha demanding that people get their vision tested to make sure it's twenty twenty and stuff like that. No it's workplace regulations. And they didn't go through the rulemaking procedures that they're supposed to so. It is a nakedly stupidly. I'd say virtue signal. But what virtue is it. Meanwhile comma harris unabashed supporter of forcing americans to get vaccinated tweeted. This is so great. You've got follow me here. By vaccinating the unvaccinated increasing our testing masking and protecting vaccinated. we can end this pandemic. That's exactly what we are committed to doing and people responded predictably kellyanne conway always good for a quote. Yet she sewed confusion and doubt about the vaccines early on giggling and assembling only to get the trump vaccine as soon as she could how many visits to unvaccinated communities. She made the southern border in. Guatemala don't count. Joe cunningham of red state said if being vaccinated does not protecting the vaccinated than what the hell is it. Even for the fabulous babylon seth dylan opposing. Mandates is not antitax telling people they need to get vaccinated and where a master protect the already vaccinated is anti vacs on fox news k. Pavlik protecting the vaccinated so the administration is taking credit for something. The vaccine is supposed to do bizarre and on and on she's useless. Yeah and that whole angle of the thousands and thousands of people that are coming across our southern border and nobody's interested in whatsoever and whether or not they're vaccinated And where they go is is interesting. Also but your kids have to get You know where the masking school and they're about to approve. I think vaccines for kids. Like five to eleven really. I'm extremely uneasy with that. The danger to kids from the is very very slight and some of these side effects from the vaccine although they are rarely serious. They're troubling enough. That i mean. It's and i'm pro vaccine the vaccine as soon as i could when i when it's time for booster i'm gonna get it but with kids. The math is completely different and one of the things that bothers me about this whole deal. The whole cova conversation is that so. Many people are loudly belligerently. Certain of what they're saying all the time. When the data keeps changing the science keeps changing one. A study seems to define the thing then it gets reversed or contradicted and the rest of and and and because we're in the middle of this thing it's natural that our our knowledge would-be developing as we go. We'll get the need to just be belligerently. Certain all the time. I don't think that's very attractive. Quality when i am belittle certain i'll act like that. But how can you be in the midst dacoven anyway..

But you know what life needs requires care an exactly. Now what you can let you need to take a la the small chain omega three and to be able to convert into the epa dha. Because you know the best. The best studies on a mega threes have been done showing the best health benefits. Come from the long chain. Epa dha a. definitely has benefits your body's gotta convert it and it uses delta six desaturate enzyme. Now i've heard that That process is very energy. depend and It's like very. I've heard some are like one to five percent gets converted the liver so like for everybody one. You know one part of la take in only one to five percent of that is going to be able to convert into epa. Dha your thoughts on that. Yeah the the research over the years has has different. People have measure it in different ways and gotten widely different results. So there's something not right because it should be consistent I think it's agreed. That women convert better than men. Okay that makes a lotta sense. Why because when a woman is pregnant she needs to feed one brain now and she needs to build another rice well. Her ability to convert alpha linoleic acid into epa and dha or especially dj. Were the brain as breaks. Omega three is very important men never get pregnant. Hardly ever get pregnant. Yeah so they don't need that conversion but In in two thousand fifteen there was a study that came that explained where all of this is off and it goes like this the they they looked at how these studies are done so they gave him radio act not radioactive late alla labeled alpha linoleic acid and to give him a shot in the arm. Okay so then. They know exactly five grams of a l. a. labeled then they measure how much land d. h. a. You end.

"Boiling things water and the other one was called frying now when we talk about cooking with oil. It's mixed it sound like we're doing something good over not cooking with us. We're frying friday. Were burning the food's okay. So the so the cooking of the second. The third is is the transfer. We already talked about fats. So that was number. Three and number four is saturated fats. But there's this is an entrant. This'll be an interesting story for you. Because i know you're into kito. Yeah so saturated. Fats make platelets more sticky and make people more insulin resistant. But if you have enough omega threes in your diet omega threes. Make your platelets tikki and make you more insulin sensitive. So if you if you make sure you bring in the omega three and omega six undamaged in optimum quantities you can eat saturated fats and they will not causing problems because they do the opposite of what the saturated fats and you almost have to say that the problems that saturated fats cause should actually be blamed on getting enough omega. Three in your diet. yeah. I i I actually agree in that. I also have a disagreement with that statement. I can definitely agree that With your your second statement. You gotta have mega threes in there. Yeah the first statement that saturated fats alone. 'cause platelet aggregation inflammation I disagree with that. I think the studies were done. That had a higher carbohydrate diet so they had higher amount of crystalline in system so they weren't controlled well okay based on that Because what tends to happen. Is you know. People are eating because our society is demonized saturated fat that tend to eat have eaten them when they were doing those studies. Now people are starting to open up to you know Healthy fats and things like that but back then those tended to be people that Didn't take good care of their health. To begin with so. They're eating burger and fries. Right as opposed to people who ate more polyunsaturated. Fats tend to be your vegetarians. Right and things like that also practice other healthy practices. You know they more vegetables less likely to smoke things like that. So i think that there were not the studies more controlled willing office so i think it was more than Or correlation rather ovation would be taking a look at somebody that is on a low carb diet less than twenty percent of their calories coming from carbohydrates and looking at their saturated fat levels. Right comparing that with somebody that same amount of carbohydrates. Let's say mitsu macaroni trans you know but a lower level of saturated fat and then looking at inflammatory levels right in having kind of two big groups. I think if we did that study we'd be able to understand that So that's my statement on the first one but the second one i totally agree with definitely have to have the omega threes in order to inflammation under control and they go hand-in-hand saturated fats right. Because the cell the saturated fat is really stabilizing in the pilot and the omega three is fluid so it allows kind of those hormone receptors right. And there's a balanced between those balanced. Even cholesterol gets involved in making sure it's right and i think i learned that from you from your book actually.

"Burn acrylamide and in proteins your freeze increase inflammation and cancer when you fry it and oils increase inflammation cancer when you fry them independent of each other right so everything you burn becomes toxic become partially toxic. Yeah so So so frying is a really bad idea. And i tell people that. Get their to get the frying pan out. Foot turned upside down. Hit themselves on the head with it really hard so it's associated with pain and then park it in the garbage can. Now you're saying so there are certain oils that have much lower oxidative stability and others like cornell for example be very low oxidative stability Or fish oil or flags long chain omega threes or long just know a lot a lot. More unsaturated fats fats or something like olive oil. Which has a lot of polyphenols in it have a much greater oxidative stability right so so the oxidative stability makes a difference. The now more sensitive. The oil are so omega. Threes more than omega six more than olive oil our than saturated fat. The the the more double bonds have damore chemically sensitive. They are the gross to being essential. The worst they get when you fry but so but then people say okay. Well if you're fry or just you saturated fats. No because you still gonna burn your food and you're still going to wreck deal and you're still going increase inflammation cancer so the best thing you can say about hard fats for frying is that it's less worse right then using the liquid oils. But it's not good advice for health to tell people to fry oils. It'd be better to tell them. Cook in water and then add oils made with health mind undamaged and imbalanced in no mega mega six to your food. After comes off the heat. Dan what you get is stay enhance flavors and they also improves the. Absorption of the oil soluble nutrients in foods. So it's they're actually. It's good for health to put oil on foods after they come off the heat. Yep okay so you're talking about. Obviously frying second is the second is the the the so called cooking salad and culinary oils odorless tasteless ones because of that one percent damage. That's already been done to buy the processing Before they go in the bottle before you buy the rights and end in terms of cooking salad oils. You can use goodell's in salva you could use better oils in salads and you. It's better to use water for cooking. Fact when i was a kid. Cooking meant.
