Newt Gingrich: McCarthy Outmaneuvered Biden on Debt Ceiling Talks
"You're going to lose if the other side has the courage to stand firm. And the fact is that for over 100 days, McCarthy kept saying, and he went to the news media, he got more press coverage. If you go back and look at it, it's amazing how clear he was in communicating through the media despite their liberal bias because he just kept saying over over, and you know, we want to get this solved. And the key there was that the House Republican Conference actually passed a debt ceiling bill with real reforms. And therefore, the Senate Republicans, to my great shock, came out and said we are for McCarthy. And Mitch McConnell, who negotiated many of these deals, said, I'm not in this. This is McCarthy's opportunity. We're going to back McCarthy. And that in put a him position, and the reason I think this really matters in the long run, Mark, is if the center of gravity in Washington becomes the House Republicans, they are the most conservative group in the city, more much conservative than the Senate and obviously dramatically more conservative than the Biden White House. Now the question be will between the investigation process and the effort that they're going to put into the appropriations bills. Can they build on this? I tell everybody, if the debt ceiling was the final deal, I would have voted no. But if it's the first step in setting up a rhythm of winning, we keep so getting more and more goodies, then it's a very important yes. And I say that because if you read, the Mark, majority, you'll figure out, you know, we didn't jump to a balanced budget. We had three years of constant work, gradually inch by inch, getting Clinton in a position where a once balanced budget became possible. I think in this case, I don't think Biden's going to last three years. So the question is, can we get through 2023 2024 and be in a great position in January of 25 with a Republican president, Republican House, Republican Senate, to really drive dramatic, bold, deep

Yeah, I think it was in Clifton. Right. And so he gets there the first night and he's starving. Right. Facilities closed. And so he just Googles like places to eat near me. And the first thing that comes up is a pizzeria uno. And so Peyton Hillis just goes, I guess I got to walk because I don't know my car or anything. And so he just starts walking down route three, which is a massive pretty major highway. It's like one of the most dangerous highways in New Jersey. It's like how half of New Jersey that works in the city gets to New York. Yes. Yes. Yeah. And can you imagine like, like one of the burliest running backs in NFL history, just like walking down route three to go get takeout pizzeria uno. Like, it's so funny to me. It's like, this is the NFL. This is well, and that's the pizza that you're getting in. Like, I mean, look, that's like the Michael Scott Sabaro scene. Algorand's Secret Plan Revealed!
"Has been kind of unfairly pushed down harder than other coins in my opinion and the morale of you know, the Algorand community the algo fam is fairly low. It's fairly low right now, but here's the thing there are a Misconceptions about what has actually happened with Algorand lately. First of all, the my algo hack happen, you know a good bit ago and a lot of people perceive that as you know Algorand got hacked. Listen Algorand didn't get hacked Algorand has never been hacked. My algo was a third -party wallet with the name my algo and people tied that and did the math in their heads really fast and said like oh like Algorand must have got hacked like Algorand had nothing to do with the creation of my algo or the reason it got hacked. Okay. So that's number one number two here is that Algorand was mentioned as a security in the bitrex case with the SEC to be clear. This is how the SEC is trying to do a workaround to call a crypto project of security instead of like going directly to court with them like they're doing with XRP. They tried to do this with nine other coins in the Coinbase case about the case for the guy that got hit for insider trading and they mentioned nine other coins that they called securities at the time there. But guess what when that case actually settled those nine coins called securities that was left out of the

You Don't Need a PhD to Master Card Counting
"Card counting isn't impossible to master. You don't need a PhD in statistics. In fact, one thing that makes card counting hard isn't the actual counting, it's something else. To dig into this, let me introduce my guest today. I think he's the world's most well -known card counter. With almost half a million subscribers on his YouTube channel and 45 million views in total, Stephen Bridges is probably the most recognisable card counter out there. Here he is introducing himself. Yeah, my name is Stephen Bridges and I'm a card counter, which basically means that I legally beat casinos at Blackjack. So I play high stakes and I film a hidden camera show about doing that. And I get into all sorts of trouble with the casinos whilst trying to beat the game. Now, some of you listening might be wondering what card counting actually is. Maybe you're like me. Maybe your perception was that card counting was a myriad of formulas and equations, incomprehensible to a layman like me. Well, it's not quite like that. So in essence, card counting involves keeping track of the cards that have been played in a game of Blackjack. And keeping track of them gives you an idea of what cards are remaining and what cards are likely to come. And then you can use that to gain an advantage over the house. So specifically in Blackjack, if there's a lot of tens and aces on the way and you're playing Blackjack perfectly, then you can gain an advantage. So in those situations, I'll bet loads of money. And when I don't have an advantage, I'll bet the smallest amount of money possible. So this really is playing the game in an unconventional way, although it wouldn't be considered cheating because you're just using the same information that all other players have access to at the table. And the thing I usually mention when anybody asks me if what I do is cheating is I'd say, can you name any game in the world where thinking too much or thinking in a particular way would be considered cheating? And usually the answer is no. And it's just imagine playing a game of chess and being told, oh, you can't think four moves ahead. Three moves ahead is fine, but not four moves

"The latest edition of the Bloomberg surveillance podcast, a conversation Seema Shah of principal asset management. Within our slight underweight to equities, we actually have an overweight to large cap. The reason we have the overweight to large caps, which we made back in February, was actually a cyclical reason, which was threefold. One was that you have, we believe, a slowdown coming, potential recession. We have the towards the end of Fed the hiking cycle. And the third thing is that large caps typically have a greater international exposure of revenue than you would do on your small cap. So that was the reason. And now you've added in the Nvidia. So actually, that is playing out fairly well. But of course, you have to think about your S &P 500 target. Could it go back to the September low? Well, as tech is doing this well, maths the just doesn't add up. Maths doesn't add up for the S &P. That's that 100. Does the maths add up for the Euro stocks 50? That's an interesting one. The Euro stocks 50. I mean, we keep having this conversation with clients about US exceptionalism. About six months ago, everyone was like, well, look, maybe for the next decade, we could have higher inflation. This is value trade. Therefore Europe is in the ascendancy. And then you have this movement back into AI. And actually, the US back. is And that's what everyone is talking about. And certainly from our perspective, yes, as a at the moment, the US is not our favourite region. But if you're looking at a 10 year period, you want to be focused on the US or Europe? it's Well, 100 % US. Back home, you've just come from London. How are they thinking about this now? They've been piling into our VMH, was flying, stock data out of China starts to weaken. Are they abandoning that trade quickly? Yeah, I think there's a lot of disappointment. And I think they're quickly cutting those positions. And the thing is, is that look, at the moment, so many people are positioned for bearishness in the in the broad market. They've got to cut wherever makes the most sense where there isn't as much confusion. Hear the full conversation on the latest edition of the Bloomberg Surveillance podcast. US safety agency to require automatic emergency braking on new vehicles and set tougher standards
"The national highway traffic safety administration wants to require all new passenger cars and light trucks include potentially lifesaving automatic emergency braking and meet stricter safety standards within three years. This is another step toward regulating electronic systems responsible for what drivers usually do on their own. Nets a chief council and Carlson says they want breaks to be effective at much higher speeds. We're also including what we call full collision avoidance. That means that a vehicle has to stop without touching another vehicle in front of it. The systems would allow vehicles to fully avoid other vehicles at up to 50 mph if a driver doesn't react. With this proposal, we could change a high speed crash from a deadly one to a lower speed crash with minor injuries or just property damage. Nietzsche says 90% of new passenger vehicles already include the braking technology. Ed Donahue, Washington.

"We perhaps have codified. The three beat rhythm into western culture. And because we're so ethnocentric have determined. It's a of nature. But i have a new theory and my new theory is does really no such thing. That three is the number where we start noticing a pattern. That if it's just one while it's one it's a thing there's so many things that's not a pattern. It's just a thing but what about two. Before there were irreversible try no meals there were irreversible binomial 's and there are far more of those fine and dandy back and forth above and beyond alive and well bangers and mash bayton switch. Macaroni and cheese. Can't say cheesy macaroni. Macaroni and cheese. Flesh and blood forever and a day forever and ever hard and fast ham and eggs hide. And i don't even know what when means day and night you get the idea there is to it happens all the time abbott and castello. There's a couple. There's a pair suddenly to feels like like a really stable situation and biologically to is sort of the way we are organized. And then there's four and four shows up in lots of places as well. There were actually more than three stooges and more than three marx brothers. Four shows up in lots of places. Just ask john. Paul george and ringo but also five five shows up in lots of places. So why have we fixated on three. Well i think three is when we begin to notice that there is a pattern that as a writer. I've adopted the rule of three. I often write this thing. Come that thing and the other thing the rhythm feels right to me but maybe the reason the rhythm feels right to me is because i've been using it a lot reading it a lot encountering a lot. Maybe the reason we have the rule of three is that we have the rule of three that it reminds us that something is coming that if we started joke with a so a so and so and so and so walk into a bar. We've announced somebody. This is some sort of joke. Maybe when the composer offers us one thing and then a slight variation and then than dynamic inclusion they are alerting us to the fact that they also get the joke that they know the rule of three that they know how to pace it and talk about it and so i wanted to alert to the existence of the rule of three because maybe we're giving writers the benefit of the doubt when we encounter it may be were feeling a little off what it's not quite three when it's almost three. But perhaps the rule of three is just completely fabricated in a paper that i put in the show notes that akimbo dot link a bunch of researchers tried to investigate the famous rule of three for behavioral indicators with high specificity for bi-polarity in patients with major depression episodes they did a unit variant analysis of thirty six thousand seven hundred forty two subjects and made a list twenty nine markers that often appear things like more than three religion changes more than three marriages cheating on their partner regularly. Having more than sixty lifetime sexual partners pathological love heavy cursing speaking more than three foreign languages having more than two apparent tattoos circadian regulation and high debt. And what they found. Is that eleven of these markers if you have three of them. It's quite likely you might need professional help again. The rule of three. We can't get away from it. Just wanna talk to you marshall. See if we could something out disease we got anything to talk about. But if you want to say something you can say from right there. Can i come a little closer so not shouting like a couple of drunk and hobos. I can hear you is it okay. I come a little little closer than okay. You take one more step. I'll shoot you. I C three AI software enables organizations to use artificial intelligence at Enterprise scale solving previously unsolvable problems. C three A. I. This is Enterprise AI. You're listening to all things considered from NPR news. Uh huh. Ethiopia's government declared a unilateral ceasefire this week after nearly eight months of fighting in the country's north. The opposing force in that civil war the T Dry People's Liberation Front, or TPLF, has recaptured the regional capital at the center of the fighting. And the group has dismissed the government ceasefire claiming to have crushed government forces instead. Meanwhile, the humanitarian crisis in Ethiopia is worsening the U. N projects. A third of a million people are facing famine and a bridge that's critical to delivering food to the region has just been destroyed. Joining us to talk more about this is Samuel Get Tattoo, a freelance journalist based in Ethiopia's capital. Welcome to all things considered. Thank you. In his first public remarks since the ceasefire, Ethiopia's Prime Minister Abdi Ahmed said his government's troops initiated a tactical withdrawal from the regional capital, Mark Kelly. Because the city is no longer the center of gravity in this conflict, he said. Now, as we mentioned, the TPLF has rejected the ceasefire and says they forced government troops to flee. So what can you tell us about how to resolve these conflicting remarks? Well, if you speak to the Ethiopian government, they will tell you that they're giving humanity and corridors a chance because again, according to the U. N. Lots of people are facing famine. If you speak to the tplf, uh, side, which is in McCulley. Now, as you mentioned there, saying that they did defeat the coalition between the Ethiopian side Eritrean and, um, Harris from the South. So again, it depends on who you speak to. The upshot is, we really don't know which one is true, exactly, And you know, for a better part of the conflict. People like myself. We did not have access to the region, so we were really made by the time we went to the region and trying to verify all this information. So everything we're receiving contradicts, uh, what we've received previously so we're working on it. This is a unilateral government ceasefire in a war that has already killed many thousands over months. Um, is violence continuing despite the government, saying it has stopped? Well, um, there are many parts of the region that is in conflict. There are also areas we can't access. The humanitarian organizations cannot access. So this conflict has really just begun. Um and again if you listen to the U N, they're saying 91% of the population. Just imagine 91% of the population are in need of food aid. Um, as you mentioned for many people, people, perhaps a bit older, remember the Ethiopian famine of 1984? Which really affected so many people, and many of those famine happened in the region of Tigray. So for many people again, it's um it's a catch. 22. We're going back to the old year. Where Ethiopia can is really struggling to support and feed millions of Ethiopians. How much is the destruction of this key, essential bridge going to affect the humanitarian crisis that is already affecting hundreds of thousands of people to begin with? The Tigray region is one of the poorest parts of Ethiopia. So this bridge means a lot. Uh, this is the same bridge that the U. N is using to transport basic needs to the people that really need it. So without this bridge, you can only imagine what it means in terms of delivering Basic needs that you need to make sure that, uh, this famine that's certain to come will only affect a portion of what the U. N is telling us is going to be victims. So this bridge means everything for thousands, if not millions of people that really Rely.

"Golden brown like they've been broiled a little bit harder or you know whatever food. Science magic goes into caramelized something. I am not an expert on that front but yeah it's got that golden magic in my opinion. Yeah i thought it was very good Sarah my wife liked it. a lot. She actually she really wanted a bowl of cap'n crunch a couple of days back. So i sat with two bowls and picked out a bowl of regular captain crunch for her. Which meant i got to enjoy. Both these knockoff. Coca poboy boy which is You know i'm not. Complaining is good but Yeah i i think this is a this is also a fantastic Jamir fist in the box Grab a handful. I mean slam dunk. You're getting a lot of different texture. That chocolate flavor is great compliment to the to the cabinet crunch just like a big dry handful absolute winner. Yeah it's worth the sticky poems i would say. Yeah what did you think of the chair as though you know i. They didn't bother me that much. I do feel like we're getting to a point with euros where it does mean something and like especially with the food like this or there's a cultural history to it The way that that that term has just sort of been adopted for like anything vaguely like cylindrical and star-shaped in extrusion like i think is is starting to lose of its meaning. I thought it was okay. I really. But i'm i'm with you in what you said in their view. I'm tired of the bags bags are not. i mean. This isn't a great shape for syria off. So that about some distance chosen. And i would say this if this was a serial you you pour into a ball but i also i really don't like the bags it feels so wasteful and silly and i don't know i'm a big i'm a big Do not like those. You can get more out of a single sort of bear pod handful of cereal. Then you cannot have a single pouch here Yeah and these ones especially like you were saying. There's no cinnamon to it. So i don't really l. why they're calling them cheerios. If there's nothing to that effect there if they're going to keep using this shape which is very hard to eat in the first place because it stabs you in the roof of the mouth a lot. I think we need to give it a better name like Chocolate pool noodles. perhaps chuckled. Me would be a great name for cereal. Cocoa puffs oatmeal dan. We don't talk a lot about oatmeal on this show. I'm not going to say it's taboo but it's it doesn't come up a lot. How did this unfair. So i think it's pretty good actually. So general mills is putting out four different cereal flavored oatmeal. 's which is interesting because oatmeal is also syria so cold cereal flavored hot cereals and those are tricks oatmeal. Lucky charms oatmeal cinnamon toast crunch oatmeal as well as cocoa puffs oatmeal. Which is the only one. I've been able to try thus far but it was also the one. I'm most interested in just because you know chocolate. Everything appeals to me and These meals are very interesting that they each take a two pack approach. So you've got your oatmeal in one packet you make it like you would any oatmeal and then you add the crunchy topping on top of it and in the case of cocoa puffs The crunchy topping didn't really add very much. They looked like carville crunchies but they didn't have any of their Intoxicating fudgy kookiness. So they're more just like I don't know they're just like these little shreds of crisp cereal almost. But it's the actual meal itself. That i think does well here because it doesn't actually taste that much cocoa puff cereal which is okay to me because cocoa puffs are kind of one of the more boring chocolate cereals just very corny in their corn. Puffiness so. I'm glad that this oatmeal tastes a lot more. Just like a bowl of edible hot chocolate or hot cocoa it's got that and really cozy comfy feeling and. I almost feel like these were missed. Time does a release in the summertime. Because i want to save a pouch of this eat beside the fire. Come winter. I think that bodes well for sort of the other oatmeal this line as well. I know lucky. Charms and cinnamon toast. Crunch meals had been released in canada. Previously and i tried them. They were very good. So i i wouldn't necessarily be opposed to more Cold cereal flavored hot cereals in the future and more hot cereal flavored cold cereals. Because that would just be code for oat flour Come on at farmer. Come back while waiting on your new free pop tarts. Is this the mango and some of the other ones. I i got all of them but the mango so far okay so this would be peach. Cobbler pop tarts banana cream pie pop tarts as well as lemon cream pie pop tarts. So he's more like pie. Pop tarts actual free pop tarts got. I feel like each of these are very straightforward in terms of whether i'd recommend them or not just because when you hear the name of these niche flavors it's probably already going to tell you whether you like them or not like if you're a fan of peach flavored things banana flavored things or lemon flavored. Things nothing i say will probably be a better barometer than your own personal preferences That said I think these were also pretty hit or miss. The peach cobbler pop tarts especially came across as way to like cobbling. You over the head with fake penis feels like it tastes a lot like those peach. Gummy rings and i feel that doesn't really gel as well with having this flaky crust around it. I think the same goes for the lemon cream pie in that. It didn't take its inspiration quite far enough on the literal fruit level. And you end up getting this unfortunate. Lemon pledging innis with less of the sweet juicy. Nece that i really enjoyed out of pink lemonade. Pop tarts which i believe were recently discontinued yet again to make room for lemon cream pie. Pop tarts on shelves The only one of these three that. I think might be worth the tries. The banana cream pie. Because it's almost got this weird continuum of chew going to where the flavor almost morphs the more you. You sorta saver in your mouth so when you first tasted it really hits you with that artificial candied laffy taffy banana but the more i sort of pondered it and You know let my taste buds. Do the talking the more. I got this overripe banana bread. You know sort of brown banana out of it. And i think that's you know it's really really niche in its appeal because people who love banana flavored things are already probably a minority So unless you. Are you know going bananas for banana. Flavored things this one is especially tough to justify because it's the only flavor that's exclusive to walmart sixteen count boxes and if we learned anything from the mystery pop tarts fiasco buying into over a dozen pop tarts in. This economy is Really hard to recommend yeah Let's see what else we got here. oh i a few that i a couple that i had From general mills Space jam and josiah see wa- cereals so Taking these in order space jam is a purple berry type deal with purple spheres. And we've got some orange basketball are bits and some white Bugs markets and. It is a picture of lebron james and are the things that i needed to tell you about space jam. A new legacy. The serial it. I mean dan. I don't know what to tell you. But i mean it is. It is absolutely remarkable in every single. Way i don't know why they made it. it is just the the i. It's not even notable member how sesame street was notable for the lack of berry flavor. this is not even that it is just sort of this tastes. Exactly how i thought it would Ferry a little better though dude. You're cereal which if you don't know juicy wa. She is a singer who i think originated from like the dance moms franchise but as martin like nickelodeon superstar As from my kids are obsessed with her. I think she's pretty cool. She has some good music. She sounds Unlike any other human being on the face of the earth I like jesse wa. And she's got a cereal called a strawberry bop. Which is.

We'll try to keep it on ice and call for you slip off to to dreamland But first we are going to get into some cereal news. These these healthy bars. Damn they just don't know Were the limits. Are they keyboarding to encroach. Yeah i guess after so. Many cereals have been given cereal bars. The bars are kind of bouncing back. Because recently we've seen a lot of bars turned into cereals. There's been kind bar cereal. There's been lara bar. Cereal and now entering the fray is cliff bar cereals. You like cliff bars at all you know. I think there's a time in place for cliff bars Especially if it's on a lot of chocolate peanut butter. I get down that sometimes. It's a nice nice filling sack whenever i used to cover trade shows When my video game days acer rely a lot on cliff parts to keep me on. Yeah i like how. They're these big sticky amalgam honks of assorted matter. They got a nice mouth feel to them. They were one of the first on the scene in terms of this generation of snack bars or protein bars. Or we're gonna call him and it's interesting that they're Among the last to beginning the serial treatment. Well i mean. It doesn't really seem like something to me. The cliff crowd wouldn't necessarily be into because it's kinda hard to sneak a bowl of cereal and milk onto an open rock face. But the who am i to complain when there are four flavors of cliff bar cereals hitting stores soon. This line is debuting in chocolate and peanut butter blueberry and almond butter apple cinnamon and peanut butter as well. As honey and peanut butter each of these serials will include coated flakes and oat clusters with a different nut butter as well as sweet extras Depending on which flavor you buy like the apple cinnamon peanut butter. Of course has apple pieces while the blueberry and almond butter has blueberries as well. i am a little bit sad. They didn't choose some of the more iconic cliff bar. Flavors i love me a good white chocolate macadamia nut or oatmeal raisin walnut. Sure but as it seems to go with. These bars turned cereals. I kind of have doubts. That they'll ever expand beyond this line Just because for one four different flavors seems like a lot introduce a serial line and at the same time much like kind and lara bar cereals pricing these pretty highest while at seven dollars box. I think this'll be the case. Where unless cliff is kind enough to send us samples. I'll probably just be picking one. That sounds the best out of all of them to try. So we'll see how that goes It's always exciting to see a new face and the breakfast. I'll yeah Speaking while no sooner. Are we talking about the cereal encouragement in bars. Then golden gram steps up to the plate with a bar of their own On the flip side we have this new cereal bar hitting shelves. It is the third entry. In general mills is series of soft baked cereal bars and this follows both lucky. Charms and cinnamon toast crunch soft baked bars. And it is golden grams. Soft baked s'mores bars. I say look good. I mean it's probably enhanced size wise because these bars always kind disappoint with the portions but Looks good with concha. Blondie yeah these things. Chocolates have historically been very delicious just because they really toe the line between a cereal bar which is typically like. Just you know a rectangle of actual cereal pieces gob together with some sort of sweet a goo- but these are more like A rookie yeah. You're right like a brownie or cookie. Very crumbly soft And borderline desert like so s'mores and graham flavored things in general If you've ever heard us talk about them on this show we are big fans. So i don't really see how you can go wrong with these golden grams. Soft baked smarts bars. The monster crossover event coming. This year is just expanding in scope You have to imagine that. The the film rights the I was about to say the scenario. But i guess that can't be far behind. Yeah so probably. The biggest cereal news story of the year. So far has been monster mash cereal. This was this is a celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the general mills monster cereals and it is sort of a reunion of all five of the monsters than being count chocula franken berry boo berry fruit brute yummy mummy. All in one box Very beautiful box as we have stated before featuring all of them in this sort of supergroup rock band and You know as usually the case with monster serial season known to some as autumn The cereal is not arriving alone but it will be flanked by an additional sweet accessory product as well so in past years we've gotten count chocula treats or franken berry and blueberry fruit roll ups but for twenty twenty one Continuing the theme of everybody is here with spooky berry. Monster mash fruit snacks. Which are spooky berry. Just feels like someone's son darts at a law. The just grabbing an adjective from a book to describe the fact that this is really the most assorted mix of artificial and debatably..

"I will tell you anybody who has changed by this tour this. That sounds fun tour. That all goes in your bucket. You built the whole thing. I just get to do it. So that all goes in your buckingham. That feels really good. Okay just anything. We didn't say anything that we didn't say about threes but may be an encouragement for threes. Scripture is so important. Because god has something for everybody and for threes it puts things in perspective Again threes wanted to motivate one into be outcome oriented. You know in. In deuteronomy moses lays out all the blessings that come from obeying god's commands So now it's like okay. Three what you want. The blessings obey the commands whereas the three would shortcut. You know to prioritize outcome You have in the focus on the commands obey the commands resting in in that. I think that's important. I think again prioritizing character over outcomes making sure that your is right because the three would could have the tendency to shortcut after to get results. Humility versus control. Oh you know like yeah do. Is it okay to lead versus is located. Just like have your sphere of what you can control and ultimately would that's going to be is how you interact with people so like prioritize people over over results I just think that scripture and faith are so important to a three because that's where everything can be framed up correctly so that you can be healthy is something says to me a lot but i think for threes. It's really good to remember. He'll he'll say almost weekly he'll say. Remember you're not a human doing your human being and that like is simple and kind of silly but also it really resonates with mandates. It's something i have to remind myself. And then also you know with our relationship with god. I think you've talked a lot about scripture. But i think with prayer praying especially praying out loud has always been hard for me because because of my words are so calculated and i'm a pastor's daughter. I grew up in the church. So i should have all the eloquence and you know whatever the language but i remember you know when he. I started like praying together as we got married and engage in all of that stuff. I remember he. You know that's a close to a person. That's an even deeper level of being closest to hear how i talked to god and i remember one time after like small group where we were in a group setting. I was like god is not judge. You based on the delivery of your prayer. You know like he sees your heart but like the people around me at smog. Do and they're hearing what i'm saying but i think just that is a hard thing for us as being so just being ourselves with god and not thinking that god measures us on this stick that measuring stick that everybody also feel like master measureless on yet just being able to slowly over time like trusting the lord like you trust a friend like taking off that that layer by layer and being silly with god and being you know like i i will now when i pray together before bed. We'll just say a short prayer before tried to light and it's like it's sometimes it's like and thank you for regan's love him up you know and it's like i. That's the silly part that i want to be more free in. Because that's a part of me and Taking off the veil with god and then with people who are really close in your life. That's so freeing. So i so i think we'll just start a three. Podcasts called three a city. Y'all just hosted the new podcast on the network. We've got yard john. Be the healthy version. i'll be i'm competent That what that. I that i'm growing and that i am healthy. I want to counseling for a whole year last year. And i a lot from it. S something. I didn't really go go into but that's something that taking off the veil and removing it a little bit to open up to someone who's a professional and then also opening up to friends but that's something that taught me a ton about myself and i don't regret it out awesome so because the show is called. Stress number is there is what helps them take care of theirself that keeps proven true every time every time they just don't stop without it and you have to stop all the great spiritual masters have been telling us to shut up and stop for centuries and we still don't have it. I think the problem for threes and sevens and eights the aggressive numbers. When they stop is that they are aware of some things that have happened around them that they didn't understand when they happened so they kind of kept walking. They just kept moving forward moving forward moving forward and sometimes stopping for those three numbers. Main gotta clean up some stuff. You got to circle back in sam. "Works. Good morning to you. I'm Dave Freeman. With KQED perspective, Dr Thomas Plant says in times of frustration and stress, people behave badly. There must be a lot of that toxic mix because people are behaving very badly as California plans to reopen with fewer covid restrictions this month. Are we prepared for how people will behave So far? It seems that many have forgotten how to act in public. There's been an explosion of people fighting on airplanes, spitting at service workers, fans attacking people at sporting events and other examples of aggression. Bad behavior is nothing new and technology makes it easier to capture these moments and share them with the world. But there is something about coming out of the pandemic that makes so many of these incidents seem especially ripe for our times. Stress in America has never been higher, according to research by the American Psychological Association Stress in America studies. People are really wound up tight, frustrated for good reasons. When you add stress to frustration, you'll get aggression according to well researched frustration, aggression theory. Moreover, divisive politics has a toxic effect on our culture. Social media and cable news fan these flames. Finally, many elected officials and other so called high status models who act badly offer permission to others to do likewise. Research on observational learning demonstrates that we tend to watch and imitate the behavior of people we find to be high status are admirable. If these models are reinforced without negative consequences, their behavior is more likely to be copied. So what can we do about all this? Let's take a deep breath the stress ourselves and treat others as we wish to be treated. The golden rule isn't a heavy lift. Living together on an increasingly fragile planet is a challenge. Unless we all find a way to get along. Things won't end well for any of us. Respecting others, treating them with compassion and finding commonalities would go a long way. Pushing back on the negativity, demonization and divisiveness is critical to we live in stressful times on multiple levels. Yet we all have the potential to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem. We all need to step up and do so. Now, With the perspective I'm Thomas Plant. "Of all the people of all the other time lords and your their society that they need the doctor to stop boga so they have to kind of like okay. We're going to help the doctor and they see that the third doctor needs help so they so they got did it. We have to like or rasa david in this case. We're bringing in another doctor to help the third doctor so cheese. You like rap but we need exactly. Yeah it's like you. We totally totally Killed whether you you're incarnations exiled you but if you could do a solid help us with this omega problem thing we'd be really appreciative. Okay well looks like you need some help. So here's another doctor. It looks like oh you two aren't really getting along with one another. So here's an here's an attempt at another doctor only go sideways. In the first doctor it gets trapped in that time eddie it can only advise them but ultimately they decide well. Hey we'll just use the last of our power to to project you into the antimatter universe. So you can advise the one last time so yeah. They had to kind of eat some crow. Here's e. They dismissed the doctor. They've hated the doctor for being renegade that that abandoned their society and it's stolen tartus ran away and here they have you know they have to rely on him and that that sure that really eats at them as a result great stuff. It makes for a fun episode. I really like see the time of their black and white uniforms in this story. Yeah the they don't get the funny hats with a big ass collars Till till the. Tom baker erazo. You know i kind of like. This is very sleek in stark black and white. It's very interesting. The these uniforms aided right. Yeah that's so that's so ostentatious as Later years in that regard. Yeah when he calls when he says they're a damn man a clown who do just wait. Wait you where do you see the robes. You're going to be wearing later on right paraphrase. Colin baker is just waiting in the wings. Going way to get a load of me. You've seen nothing yet. Heck yet know. Exactly exactly or quote eric roberts master in the tv movie. I always dress for the occasion..

"I mean how are we gonna talk about. This was really really neat Every time i see joe. I think of her appearances on the sarah jane adventures and so i see the doctor. Yeah that it was. I see the You know. I wonder if thing what did they want. A companion at this time And you know you guys talked about just to hand test tubes until the doctor is buried So it was cool to see her. And sarah jane doing more than that and showing that she did have this experience that we could do I it just it. It there is no there is no excess characters in the story there was no i think. Excess story lines You know it's four chapters but it's it moved quickly and everyone had i think of fairly significant role in it so just a really good model so it was great to see the three companions. I i understand why technically you know. The the who've and fan boys are gonna they're not companions but i know exactly what you're saying charles. They are integral but yes eight year. Old exactly a great. Yeah yeah i would i. There's a couple of joe moments that really liked. I liked Joe when they're kind of in the cell together you know on on on the you know the planet oba and the doctors are like you know talking about the you know the over guys will and whatnot and joe is the only one who brings up. Well hey you know your time lord like omega in fact you're like you know both of you are the same time lord surely you're will as i is powerful enough as his right and at least powerful enough to get you know a door and get out of here and so i i kinda like the fact that joe was feature more as the out of the box thinker that thinking of things that even doctors and even even the doctors didn't think of the doctors two doctors kind of look at each other like. Hey you're right when we do that and You know they they her Suggestion in rain with it and it worked so so i liked that i liked that it also like the fact that at the end of the story when the third doctors kind of like a little depressed over. You know essentially sending omega to to be killed you know to to his demise and joke picks up on the doctor's remorse a little bit and you know she's like well you don't you you don't have to feel guilty..

"Yeah are you sure. Are you sure that you and here are the same intelligence. I'm just like i mean 'cause the war doctor events this like their me yoga's throwing some shade on the second doctor so right anything else about these doctors that you really enjoy talking or enjoyed watching just trying to finally putting aside whatever differences ahead with each other to work together. It was good. Yeah it's always fun to watch right all right. Then how about you like. I said before. I really like how seeing all three of them put together really shows you that. The doctor is kind of egotistical megalomaniac with a superiority complex. And i know i say i know that sounds bad when i say. But you're not really you know putting a good light on him. I'm just saying. I mean in the nicest possible most veering way that i can't use a lovely. He's a lovely man but he really does. He's video which we we know. Because we know what's gonna happen. I mean we know how he he gets in trouble for his ways and thinking that he can he's above every he's a laws so we know that he's he's a little bit into himself so i really liked that and i loved how bringing on three of the doctors together shows you how subtle the differences can be in the performers but how different the doctor can be and how unique each actor can make the doctor and i really love that. Because that's something about doctor who that is very necessary for the audience to get on board with for the show to be successful the idea of regeneration in it. Not just not only regenerates you physically but it regenerates a personality a little bit. You still have your core person and you still have most of your memories scrambled in your regeneration process but every regeneration brings a new thing to the personality and it makes them more individuals makes them definitely more individuals even though they are the an individual version of being right and having the three doctors together really shows you back about how their time they can be similar times. They can be very different. And then you have things where we do. Get at gerry aunt in this. And so you're like yes louis c. You you were. You're reminded of each actors idiosyncrasies with the character and as sad as it is.

"It's a very low bar to over. Overtake or at least at least superman lex luther in. Let's just put it that way. Yes te yes it does have that lori web plays arthur alice mr olis' and climate polit. I wanted to mention because he plays the chancellor. What are the head time. Lords that are introducing the story but he actually appeared as a time lord in the war games presuming. It's the exact same time. Lord what they wanted. The three time lords that was responsible for war forcing the second doctor to generate into third doctor. Jon pertwee in that story and now here he is in charge of the whole deal trivia so the script was originally supposed to feature all three doctors equally. But of course william hartnell was too ill to be able to play the full role as envisioned in sadly hurdle died two years later after the story. Nine hundred seventy five at the age of sixty seven so it's kind of disturbing that we've heard note died sixteen years after my current age. So her for that right little another reminder of mortality that seems to be permeating the conversation today. I guess at least before we started the production team plan for frazier hines to reprise the role of jamie mckernan alongside the second doctor and interestingly also have a romance with joe however frazer hines was not available due to his work on the soap opera at the time dale firm and much of the role that it was originally intended for javy was reassigned to sergeant benton. So i'm sure. Jeff levine was happy that he got a few extra lines in this story. Exactly i was. I was thinking the same thing rank. Okay well you know at least for one pleasant see i got more scenes. I got right lines out of it. Yeah so it's next band available. In this case it was sergeant benton right to try to the idea of jamie appearing though the production team even tried to write a cameo for him in the last scene calling the second doctor back to his own time line but even that was scrapped because of frazer hines entail commitments. At least try to get him but it'll work out sadly then turns up really quick cameo later on in the five doctors so little disappointing but at least it got to be in the two doctors with Patrick troughton in baker. Aero interestingly enough. Also wendy padbury is character zoe harriet. you know jamie's fellow companion for the second doctor was also considered a return..
