"To my wife and complaining and frustrated and should I stay at this church or why am I here and I can't do anything meaningful and and my wife being wiser than me. Finally. They got tired of me complaining every day and said to me what do you want to do? Yes, and I said well goodness and since as long as I can remember, I've always wanted to write I had an opportunity and she said well genius or what you probably said is well Pastor. Why don't you pray about that? I was like, oh, okay. So I did and I I sorry praying Lord if if you want me to write then I don't know how to I have no opportunities to do that. Can you open a door show me supposed to do and I think it was within a week or two. I'm sitting at a retreat with all the vice presidents of Christianity today as one of three invited guests to be a voice as a younger pastor. But basically they wanted to know why I don't read Christianity magazines and how I could what I would do to improve it and out of that weekend retreat. I met Marshall Shelly invited me to start writing for her leadership journal and that's what launched everything that happened after that from being hired at C T and the different roles that I've had over the years to then getting connected to the Christian Publishers and writing books all that happened because my wife said, why don't you pray about it and see if the Lord wants you to do more writing so it's always been a part of me, but I just never had an opportunity to do it until Yeah, very cool. And you ended up at Christianity Today for a while then Jim? Yeah, quite a while. I was there for eleven years, although I left three times. So I kind of I quit three different times and it won't back and forth with the church for a while in and out of being independent vs. CT and then in 2015. I finally left like cut the cord off early and have been independent since then very good. Very good. Okay. Well, there's a I bring up writing cuz I love your writing so I don't mean to Fanboy but I just want you want to hear that song then there's three pieces in particular that I wanted to just mention and maybe talk about so first of all, I think your book with is probably should be required reading for every Christian everywhere wage in my opinion. Thank you. It is definitely my best selling book. So I'm and I'm not saying that just to just to flatter you I really think I actually gave it to one of my friends recently dead..

"Few days we podcast all the shows no that would be doctor health radio dot com D. O. C. T. O. R. health radio dot com a big part of food safety has to do with the temperatures of your foods and beverages not just from the standpoint of the micro organism growth and the food and beverage items beverages themselves but also the temperature at which you consume those foods and beverages so here's a health and safety cap just a reminder in case you don't get the memo drinking scalding hot liquids very hot liquids maybe too hot to the touch of a but a lot of you many of you I've met like you know you like your coffee and tea extra hot but that does increase your risk of throwing oral cancers and not only from scientists in this country they've done studies on this but all of also in South America with a drink hot my tape TV Monday by the way which is an herb it has even more caffeine than coffee so they get super amped their morning beverage and other studies throughout the world have fall come to the same conclusions about his drinking beverages that are hot hot enough to cause cell damage in your sensitive oral tissues that you were they can come in contact with are going to produce mutagenic changes at the cellular level that may lead to cancer here's one example our researchers discover this is research in northeastern Iran the at the other the study people who drank two cups of very hot tea every day were about ninety percent higher risk of developing esophageal cancer than their neighbors who waited for the British shelves so chill out or at least check out your beverages maybe maybe not you speaking of that here's a spoof product out why blow when you can no this is a soup casting spoon and since we're on radio not TV the spoon has a thermometer taped to the handle of the spoon the mercury thermometer across the monitor and the bottom of it is in the the bottom area of the spin on the body of a serv and there's a different gradations are here it says too cold that's near the sprint just right and then you go up to the thermometer too hot and then finally at the the top of the thermometer cooked Tom is what it is printed on the thermometer never fear another bowl of hot soup again with the thermometer equips you casting spoon you will know before you blow well you know actually that's a good idea because who hasn't burned their lips or tongue from soup that was too hot I mean I've I've done that a number of times over my life a lifetime with this being summer barbecue season a little refresher on those smoky meats from the grill that taste so well K. state because they're barbecued this according to the national Cancer Institute they say that one meets and we talked about this before meats like beef and poultry and fish if they're cooked over hot open flame for a I did actually not even that even if their pan fried at high temperatures the reaction of the high heat without some juices of the meat produce compounds that are classified as probable carcinogens and won't get into detail there but just a note about fictional although Fisher's normally healthy if you cook it properly smoked or salted cured fish may cause cancer in humans a one B. one reason being the nitrates and the same goes not only for fish but also smoked and cured or salt cured meats so just to be aware of that one final note studies in Asia have found that people who eat Chinese cured and salted fish are at increased risk of nasopharyngeal cancer so something to know if you do partake of those foods I always try to bring you information that's not commonly covered in the mass media here's one example your personal shopping bags although it's been mentioned in passing and different histories how often are you washing those probably not often enough studies have shown that they can be rife with bacteria that can make you sick especially if you purchase things like meats and animal products that can have you know juices or blood or other rapper residues that stick to the inside of that shopping bag of yours only to contaminate your next bag of groceries because you're not cleaning it between each use you know he might be doing good for the environment by bringing your own bag but you know it might not be doing your own internal environment server got any favors speaking of shopping grocery shoppers today are being less careful about hygiene and they were just a month or two ago I guess you're probably cut chalk that up to pandemic fatigue one survey found that fewer people are now washing their hands and sanitizing objects after going shopping now that doesn't mean you have to write down every single item you buy in the store but at least wash your hands when you get home from the store okay and always practice good hygiene one thing about food safety experts are that for safety experts as well as food manufacturers know a lot about his PH levels of foods and liquids I I used to be in the food industry myself and although I had a serial or green product it wasn't that critical to have the PH you know just at the right point but some acid alkaline levels are different depending on the food spend because you preserve food server you can or at least prevent or slow microbial growth by adjusting how acid the acidity or alkalinity of of their own PH ranges anyway some of you are into feeding your face that is using these fruit based beauty treatments putting your you know this is an example avocado massacre maybe a citrus face PL cucumbers or other fruits or vegetables on your face while herself let's see she's a dermatologist Dr Mona Gohara she says that foods have wild PH levels are they differ widely and that's going to affect your skin because the skin basically is about five point five PH so it's slightly acid of seven is neutral so the higher the number the more alkaline the the PH range the the product that you're talking about and then if it's a one or two that's very acidic sect like lemon juice is basically to so if you're putting lemon juice on your skin on your face that's true that's extremely acidic and course that made functional things feel but the and cinnamon is on the other side of the scale is to Auckland's about seven so it doesn't burn your skin barrier an eight year old you definitely don't want to use anywhere near your face or lips because you can end up with salmonella which we'll talk about what's trendy prochan few minutes so maybe you shouldn't be either via cosmetic kitchen chemist M. well let's talk about all of the food borne illnesses that are that can be tainted food and by the way there's some evidence of real concern about people over washing their hands because you're more susceptible to infections of the skin because you're breaking down that asset mental the protective PH barrier of your skin so be sure to moisturize if you do I. wash your hands frequently right a few fishy facts Fauria swordfish in order to help them separate at lightning speed which they do swordfish have.

"Things Considered from NPR news most of standardized tests the SAT the A. C. T. have been put on hold this spring but one test is going forward it's for high school students taking Advanced Placement courses because of the pandemic the AP exams are going to look a lot different this year and that's raising questions about fairness from member station WBUR in Boston Kerry young reports there's a lot at stake for students taking AP exams even in normal times if you score high enough you can earn college credit it's also a big factor in college applications but for some students the idea of studying right now feels impossible I'm constantly thinking about making sure that my family doesn't get sick and that I don't get sick this is a lease she's a high school junior outside Boston we're not using her full name because she's worried that speaking out could hurt her college applications a lease is concerned about the new test format instead of the three hour multiple choice and essay based exam she prepared for it's now an online a forty five minute open response test it just feels like I have like no idea what I'll get when I open up that test now for other students it's the idea of taking the test at home that's causing anxiety seventeen year old killing because mon from Boston says it's hard to find peace and quiet in her house right now currently it's me my mom my dog my sister and my step dad sometimes you know I I feel like it's too much like so much chaos so it's it's a lot because mom says she's glad she still has the opportunity to earn college credit but it's still unclear exactly how much credit students will get from this year's test if they do decide to take it none of us would say that we are confident that have three or four or five in the AP exam this year means the exact same thing as a three or four and five on on the exam last year injure ho studies the reliability of educational tests at Harvard you varsity he says this year's scores won't be measuring the same thing the new test will cover less material and changing where kids take it from a proctored classroom to their laptops at home is a big deal but ads just because it's not completely comparable doesn't mean that the colleges to their own policies couldn't adjust so what colleges addressed some schools like the university of California system have come out explicitly to say that they won't change the way they credit AP scores other colleges that didn't want to go on the record said that they are working on changing their policies in a statement a spokesman for the College Board which makes the AP exams says the organization wanted to give motivated A. P. students the opportunity to earn college credit he added that the group is quote making a significant financial investment to make the tests available online from cheating prevention software to helping students who may not have an internet connection or access to a computer but some teachers worry that those efforts won't be enough this situation has created a lot of distraction Boston AP physics teachers of Analogic R. says a lot of students still have to juggle additional responsibilities at home so that's taking care of brothers and sisters I have some of my students who are working forty fifty sixty hours a week at the grocery store right now in the fear that their parents are going to be laid off and then there's the question of geographic equity this year's test will be administered at the same time a worldwide meeting some students in Hong Kong will have to be up at midnight to take it for NPR news I'm.

"C. T. and radio by the way because it was such a nice weekend I think a lot of people were out doing things were you working on your yard even though it does it need it we were in Lincoln square in Chicago and other places shopping and eating out and just kind of relaxing enjoying a nice Sunday maybe it did a little of that on Saturday as well so a lot of dogs in restaurants and bars again so here we go with that conversation but a lot of you took your dog out and then you went in for a drink or a sandwich and you just brought your dog again with you the problem is we just don't know how to behave in public anymore John Kass the Chicago Tribune columnist on Twitter posted a video that's good evidence of that it's a different scene though it's at a what looks like whole foods where they have the hot bar where you can go ahead and get food and put it in your dish and take it home and they have the soup ladle into the big soup kettle and guys just walking along and he's looking at the broccoli and the chickens in the soup you are here needs thinking I wonder how good that soup is so he picks up the label and it takes a sip from the label and then puts it back in the thing no no no you do not get to do that right and you don't get to video tape something like that going tackle the guy right I mean that's the only I saw that and I was just thinking why are you video it would going to stop him I don't know about that there Steve I'm not exactly sure what the appropriate responses in that scene the appropriate sponsors not have some soup but I'm not sure it's resort to violence is Sir that's what you're suggesting yeah I don't know why I think maybe not necessarily violence but perhaps going up and just confronting him road getting somebody to get him and stop him and being tested for TB or I don't know it is pretty amazing sometimes the things people will see and videotape and post rather than intervene you know like when the deer is attacking the hunter and his buddies are all standing around videotape in it or when a tornado is coming that's the classic one and the wife like Clark get in here Clark hold on honey hold on honey and they videotaped the tornadoes is mowing down there on never understood that either a barber had some to say about one of the holidays I don't think it's Casimir Pulaski day she's calling in about although this is that a barber it's John you're on WG and what we do for it good morning I would like to make a comment about the decision of the Chicago school board about the Columbus day making an indigenous day I think it's very disrespectful all the explorers who came across the New World to the unknown and didn't know what they were going to find and they came across some two three small boats this is the center left into in the end they came across with limited skills that we had a week yeah can't even mass famine today and yet they were ready to do this and they didn't know what they were going to find and it was just one of those little things that happened and it happened today too we all understand everybody that we meet right so your point is though that if they were that valiant and brave and clever we should honor them with Columbus day yes just as it's a day if not you're not being disrespectful to anyone else honoring the fact that they made that voyage and they were willing to try them yeah and it's not a it's not something that can be taken lightly I no no no I don't think anybody take it lightly I think the mistake we make I think you make a good point here Barbara is that we what we do is that we compare that to the crimes suffered by the indigenous people or how clever and brave and remarkable they were as well so is one better than the others one more deserving than the other that's the wrong conversation to have right got to be a way to accommodate them both if you had to pick one I'm not going to answer that question because I don't care I don't know who's more deserving it's impossible to answer but I appreciate your call and I do see your point nine forty three now enjoying some soup just down the hall here WGN radio flick I don't know isn't it I watched it again John I think he takes two drinks of the suit and I agree with you Steve if something needs to be done like I would definitely tell the manager to throw away that soon yeah and I wouldn't mind if they called the police I'm not sure if it's against the law but something needs to happen there in his piece cast said that the guillotine is appropriate time for WGN who has and Steve Chris and it has.

T. R. and may be says tolls can get clogged up of people getting them expecting the main line of traffic to also clog up which you know typically from time to time could be moving a little bit faster people are in the southbound direction in the evening saving as much as fourteen minutes on their trip we also see in the northbound direction in the evening on average at the peak of peak people are saving eleven minutes well that should be something that people can actually identify with that sorry yeah I'm getting home fourteen minutes sooner than I did before five one two eight three six zero five nine it's because those people who were in that backup realize that in the end once the other lane start to back up their going to zip on by and actually save a significant amount of time morning rush hour time savings are significant less however it only one point three minutes saved a northbound in six point one minute saved headed southbound as insane as it makes me when I get on the express line and get behind somebody that is just poking along I still have to say overall the express lane is probably save me time overall is frustrating is it bit usually eventually somebody because I'm tailing them on there but trying to get him to speed up that get it.

L. I. S. A. slash A. C. T. and that will help to determine the food that he's allergic to but I can tell you the most common of which either psoriasis or eczema patients are allergic to dairy foods sugar beef pork wheat and soy and corn though in those are very common foods but we need a lot of them and we have developed sensitivities to them were were already sensitive and they just are set off so he needs to get that blood test to confirm what it is exactly they'll measure like two to four hundred different substances next let's address the the X. about by having him take four thousand milligrams of salmon oil first thing in the morning on an empty stomach the gills are probably related to some infections some low grade infection in his body which needs to be discovered so see an integrated doctors they can do some blood testing on him and examine him meanwhile he should boost his vitamin C. vitamin C. will help chills they figure this out by having miners that we're deep in the earth mining minerals under the earth they got chilled because they were gonna frigid environment all they did was increased their vitamin C. level inside those mines in there chill feelings went away so I would give him five hundred milligrams of vitamin C. good vitamin C. "C. T. E. what does seo and do our simple shot themselves in the chest because they were dying of brain injuries brought on by playing football to African Americans and nothing they do will quiet settlement they don't admit that getting a majority of players NFL or African American they're the ones who get four years it out the pension system socks it's not as good anywhere near as good as baseball these guys they use them they throw them aside and Capranica standing up for young African American men get pulled over by cops sometimes shopping but do you do you get that that's the same thing day does do you have you been part of all the people that work at you speak out when they're right Jay Beyonce a bell those people out of jail they pay their legal fees but I find that being said billionaire save didn't because I think that it's also I think it could be but I think that it could be both I think the JZ and Beyonce they could do amazing things for people of color in the black community and I'm not trying to take that away from him but I also think the JZ is is in a way being used by the owners of the NFL they're using some of the day no was going to give them cover and that's what bothers me and they might be and they might be using okay I'm sure we'll be seeing you and thank you I agree with her I do understand that sentiment but I feel like JZ is being more used by the NFL I do but we'll see what percentage of people out there that have have no idea who Jay Z. has I wonder zero I bet there's a lot and taught higher on KGO thanks buddy well it's a little bit about JZ energy Israel was a drug dealer he got arrested he sold drugs to his own community he developed a beautiful clothing line that was black owned he sold to Europeans Jay Z. bears the model of African American man that will do with the green money says they want like almost white people too just to be fair solo now listen Jersey is a beautiful beautiful entertainer but if they were looking for music and entertainment Dr jury is by far I agree their mandate but Dr Dre ray wouldn't have done that he would not raise me did it sold out hello Jim reason were trying to do some good things but for this one we have to hold him accountable you should've called college he should double collar he sure told the error fail yes you want me Collins with me but here he would not stand on that stand because that's a tough stance as Colin well this taken three years and still haven't fully so you don't remember some of the guys up there they're looking out for their pockets in their well being and they'll pay a lot of people but there's very few MC hammer's left you know hammer hammer took care everybody in people criticize dimple going broke Jay Z. we have a lot of enemies so clearly and got a lot of money and you still got it so let's not trash I love you too but that's not baptize you Jay Z. has got more money than god Kamal young lady says get better than that thanks I was talking about he thank you so much I was jogging today and had my I tunes on non ran on a shuffle and I hammer time came on I had heard that song and I have I have like six thousand songs on my gonna funny that you mention it I I I you know look I don't really mean this as an attack on JZ I am really I don't I I just think that Colin Kaepernick deserves our support not just from African Americans from all Americans for what he's doing he is I mean this is the thing man this guy should be the biggest hero animation beyond freaking Wheaties boxes he stayed put aside millions of dollars he still donates millions of dollars and he takes the scorn of millions Americans because trump lied about what he was doing and he still doesn't he doesn't in silence I mean he's not the one that started this was others in any thank them he didn't start this whole thing with JZ was read and others will come out and say this is wrong JZ should have done this deal with with Goodell and the NFL owners don't give them a pass and it was so called cavity just came out thank read apparently Colin did have a did you say Brian you were heard the college of a conversation with JZ you read somewhere now okay now okay well anyway I'll get out again Sasha and and and and one had two totally different points of view which I respect exactly and I think that's what a lot of people are feeling right now they're feeling very conflicted on is there going to be some good that comes from it like Sasha says but even if there is good if it if the NFL is still stopping a talented quarterback and we can debate that if you want from playing I think that that is still sends the message that you have to do it in the place and the time where we want you to do to say what you want to say and I just I don't know I think it's best if Khan cabinet comes back and plays the NFL that will be my new favorite team I will break we got the I'll tell you about this Anderson Cooper interview with us Bernie Sanders in a second and John robin joins us next okay Joe.

"But I said I'll give you roses. What do you mean? Giving her roses to of our that'll be master students painted roses, which I think are gorgeous on the outside of our freezer door. And so you're you finished all of it with her, right? I mean, there's no more work to be done with Susan. She's the projects no more imaging to be done. There's a lot of work to be done more work than I will ever do any data set like this the visible human included. We are still working on today in order to bring these virtual bodies back to life. What do we mean by that want them to live? No, we want that body to act and react like the living. We want to try things out on a body to see how a particular operation will work. Well, you'd need that body to react like a living human. That's the whole goal. Here is to make a virtual living human thought virtual cadaver. And do you have any more visible human candidates waiting will? I do since this article came out there. There's a number of people that have set I wont. Exactly this. That's difficult to most of them believe all of them that have said that don't live in Denver getting a body soon after death. So that it is fresh is difficult in the original visible human project following anybody during their life. We were just trying to accept donors bodies very quickly after the death image of them was C T, and maybe MRI maybe ultrasound with xrays then freeze them and then section them and image them. So that process has a lot.
