Bonnaroo, a leader in green fests, faces climate change risk

"The bonnaroo music and arts festival in Tennessee is facing risks from climate change Bonnaroo is already one of the country's greenest music festivals last year the bonnaroo camp grounds were waterlogged by flooding and roads were impassable forcing organizers to cancel This year Annabel's crew of trash police was ready The reality is that this is a not insignificantly sized city We are basically the public works department for temporary city Vadera was held on a 700 acre site that has a capacity for 85,000 fans People like Jordan L vernia camp out and he learned quickly it pays to be green I was cleaning up my own campground picking up basically our recyclables and I turned it into our trading posts They gave me a vulture and then the vulture was turned into the center route trading post and they gave me a food vulture So now I got free food The goal at bonnaroo is to keep at least 50% of the festival's waste out of landfills I'm Ed

Will Trump's Age Be a Factor in the 2024 Election?

"Well, it cuts both ways. And you make this point also in the column is that the presumed FrontRunner for the Republicans is Donald Trump who wants to run again for a non consecutive second term, he'll be 78 when that election rolls around. The same age that Biden was when he just just before he got elected or just after he got elected. And asking us to rely on his cognitive abilities until the age of 82. Now, I'd say that before Biden, Biden's performance over the last 17 months, there may have been Republicans who wouldn't have been uncomfortable with that. I think now that maybe not just Republicans, but Americans in general might be really reconsidering the whole thing set to a generis to The White House idea, even though 70 is clearly not the same thing as 70 40 years ago, it's still 70. And it's an issue and we're seeing it, we're seeing that issue now play out in how Joe Biden's handling is handling his press conferences handling extemporaneous questions and especially the fact that they're hiding him from one on one interviews and they have been for months. Yeah. Well, you're missing 70, 70s kind of the new 60 in politics. It's 80 that is becoming the great concern. And I should say a few things. I don't know if you watched Trump's speech in Nashville at the state and freedom coalition thing. It was long about an hour and a half, incredibly energetic, high energy, high velocity, the whole time. And that's very characteristic of his public performances. So there's no way that Biden could have pulled off something like that.

Breaking Down the Trump Effect in Alabama

"Joining us now is David drucker senior political correspondent for the Washington examiner who has been covering the election in Alabama. You know, this is something David that I think that there's been a lot of attention paid to it, but I think that sometimes it just gets a little lost in the shuffle of everything that's happening in Washington. How important is this race in Alabama for Republicans opportunities in the midterms? Well, listen, I think it's fascinating because you have a Senate runoff with so many dynamics that represent what's going on in the party. I mean, Republicans are going to win the general election down here. No matter what, it's just that kind of state, but what we saw and this was an early indication of some of the trends in Republican primaries. We saw in the spring and we saw it here first. We saw a candidate endorsed by former president Donald Trump, couldn't get it done. And it shows you that when you have a hardworking dynamic candidate, in this case, that's Katie Britt. That can overcome the Trump endorsement as potent as it can be in some contests and that's because what we've learned about the Trump endorsement is that it can take a candidate with talent and put them over the top of the tight contest. But it can't make something out of nothing.

Supreme Court Set to Rule on Abortion Rights

"Well, you're welcome, Hugh I am live here from the relief factor dot com studios in Texas Ed Morrissey of hot air dot com and happy to fill in for you today. We do have power and we actually have heat. We actually have quite a bit of heat. But we've got all sorts of things here in Texas. And we've got a full show for everybody today. And of course, one of the big issues, we're going to be discussing a whole bunch of different issues. We're going to be talking about energy later in the hour. We're also going to be talking about energy with American petroleum institute, president and CEO. Mike summers, that will come an hour three, but we've got a lot to talk about about gas prices. But first before we go there, I want to talk a little bit about what today is because today is one of the few remaining decision days. At the Supreme Court. And of course, we're waiting on two major rulings. One of course being dobs regarding the Mississippi law on abortion. And the other is the brewing case in New York regarding the right to bear arms in the state of New York and how that applies. Neither one of those decisions have been handed down yet. We are waiting with bated breath on both of these, but of course most people are focused on the Dobbs decision, not just because it's an abortion decision. Not just because it may be the abortion decision where the Supreme Court finally disconnects itself from the abortion debate and hands it back to the legislatures, which is where it should have been all along, of course, but also because of all of the death threats that have been going on all of the protests, which are still going on in front of the homes of Supreme Court Justices, which is, by the way, illegal. It's against the law to do that.

"Welcome to the Hugh Hewitt show, great to be with you today. Lots to discuss, not necessarily including backyard generator, but we've got actually a, we've got to generate our question of our own today, which is, what does this economy generating? Is it going to, is it going to continue to generate rapid growth as Janet Yellen promised yesterday? Or as a recession coming as a previous democratic grocery secretary promise. Now, you've got really two different really two very different looks at this coming to you from democratic press secretary treasury secretaries. Let's take a listen to Janet Yellen yesterday talking about what her outlook is on the economy. And the economy to slow, it's been growing at a very rapid rate as the economy is the labor market is recovered and we've reached full employment. Well, I'm not exactly sure how much you can squeeze into that 12 second clip. So that's not correct. First off, we haven't reached full employment. I mean, honestly, this is just math. All you have to do is go to the bureau of labor statistics and take a look at the numbers and you'll know that we haven't reached full employment just on a static basis. We are about 900,000 jobs short of where we started in February 2020.

"Okay, so the thing about Ed is, well, firstly, he's incredibly poised. He's cerebral. But it's really his calm demeanor and this unflappable equanimity that he has, particularly in discourse and debate that really stands out. And although he's just 27, he truly is one of the most compelling and powerful voices in the vegan movement. And I'm delighted to share this wide ranging conversation on all things VEG and ism including, it's underpinning moral philosophy, Ed's rebuttal to many of the common arguments against veganism, the many ways in which cultural forces drive cognitive dissonance around our food and consumer choices. The ethical and environmental implications of those decisions, we also talk about how to be ineffective advocate and many other topics. So if you find yourself at all, vegan curious, but haven't quite found the will to commit. I think or I suspect that ad just might be the catalyst you've been waiting for. We cover a lot today, but there's so much more. So if you find yourself eager to continue your investigation, I of course encourage you to pick up its new book. This is vegan propaganda, of course. Kaz they give you so much like bounce back the running on yes and mattresses that brilliant. So that's probably the. I mean that's probably the most fancy looking of i've got but then i am just wearing quite big baggy shorts and heavy metal tayshia and the shoes really the shoes look really jazzy. They meant to make you whatever percent faster. Not feel faster until knowing myself i've probably a property subconsciously. Taken the advances to choose of giving me and then really gone a lot slower. So i've balanced out by sort of relaxing and the shoes do the work that sounds like a great thing. Many pairs of trainers do you have a you know i. I only have one pair of running trainers and just run them into the ground. And then okay i've got. I've got like a pair of gym trainers as well. Which is more flat. Trainers light weightlifting lifting a and then when it comes to recreational china's we're onto a whole different problem That's a nightmare. But that's not what we don't have to talk about my trainer addiction misbach awesome. You pretty good when it comes to go into the gym and ding all the conditioning and all the weights. I is that something you enjoy about something. I'll go into in the last year. I'd say. I did like a a book in a load of personal training sessions for last year beginning of last year because i was supposed to be getting married in eight pro so i'm gonna local time fit my wedding and obviously that didn't happen because of the pandemic still not happened but i did in between the lockdowns us. All of the personal training sessions got pre reps. And that a time when literally no one could say it and then I'm not rips anymore. So it's just a really funny thing to people ripped for a bit then late. Yeah right now. Sora might a funny by go quite inside the whites then right. it's funny. Isn't it looking back at tide. "When did you first decided that you could call yourself. A runner was quite soon after you started or is it just something that's happened with time. United just go yama runner. I don't. I still don't know if i would you know because i sort of i don't know i'm not i'm at the moment. I'm not doing on a super super regular basis. I try and go once or twice a week. I have gone through periods of doing it. You know doing it three or four times a week. Five times a week training for a marathon. But i still don't feel like i imagine a run as i a lot of people who are run as they've got all the k they time themselves they do all of that sort of stuff unless people feel like romans to me. I always feel like. I'm just going for a very fast walk. I was mad. An you know. When i saw a picture of myself running an obviously. It's a cliche in my head. I'm like a gazelle and then i saw a patriot myself running the marathon. It didn't look like my feet. Were coming off the ground. Looks like i was doing ice skating like i. I looked mad. And i looked angry at is. I don't fail or look like a runner. Doesn't i'm just an enthusiastic runner doesn't mean i'll make good runner on just really. I just love the way it makes me feel. I also have many many twos looking monstrous coming jawing. And what's really annoying is i mean. Look if you are someone who a few people might do when you're running a race like the morrison and especially when you've got your name on your t shirts so if they were like. Is that soon so from from ever is. I've seen them on. And then your name jenny or or wherever is then confirming it because you fat on your shirt then yet. People are suddenly taking a little bit more photos of you. I find that once. I finish him harrison. My inbox on instagram ever just filled with embarrassing through to the mel seventeen eighteen own. My god that you wish you hadn't seen me or westbound photograph it. Yeah it's a bit of a nightmare. But yeah i mean also that thing of the first i did i did. I did it for charity. I just starting off with everyone and then the second one they said. Do you wanna go and start from the from the bit weather. Celebrities and invested comas run and e. So feel like it's going to be a bit of a dos Because he think it's just the cost of eastenders and they've not tried for it which was also true but then you've got some insane insane runners who are into i think now mcandrew was there professional. I mean as crazy. We started and i thought well. Where's she gone. She just she just shot off and the problem with that. Is you. start with the light. The elite runners a the elite running clubs like behind you so you spend the first half an hour with just people charging policy getting but yeah so i guess i am running in i do i do. I do enjoy it. But i think it's in my head icon properly. Call myself a runner. Because i don't i like it when i run applaud. And what's your what's going through your mind when you stand on that start laying on this people light now mcandrew. Who by the way. She is amazing and she is lovely and she has been run pod but when you stand next from the start called the glasses. She's called cap. The visor got light the pants not even the shores of the crop top. She's got the water she's got she's got everything and i'm oh no i haven't gone you.

It's a little early here. You in england right now. no. I'm in new york all your off so it's not as early as we're out here on the west coast a little early but Always literally just in west coast Yesterday just landed nice well. First of all congrats on becoming a dad. How's how's fatherhood treating you. Yeah mine is just such a change of lifestyle. I think for the for the bets. Like i've i've not being poetry boy twenty year old anymore because of responsibilities and stuff is actually really good. Yeah when you're responsible for someone else you have to change what you're doing which leads us to your new single which is called bad habits. You dropped a lot of those so tell me about this song. The song it's basically. I mean the kind of theme of it is how Everyone has bad habits and each bad habit leads to the next one so in my mind. That's kind of like you know it's friday night you're going out for dinner with a friend and in your mind you go. I'm going to have one beer. Unlike a salads or something like that and then fast forward it's like four. Am you'll like chicken sandwich. During tequila out you mates bellybutton. You know like everything needs to end. It becomes like it gets going very quickly and then out of hand before you know it. Yeah so in the song. I say One of the lyrics is every pure intention ends when the good time stop because he basically goes through the night being like. I'm going to be in bed by nine. And then i mean sometimes you are in bed by nine but more than pm. Yeah exactly. what was the moment sort of in the panic. Because i was reading that you you know you dropped a lot of these bad habits. A lot of it had to do. I think with becoming a dad but was there a moment where you're like man. I gotta make a change..

"Happen. If that makes sense do uh-huh ties as hard as it may be. Try not to feel super overwhelmed by feeling stuck because just remember everything can change and what seems like an eternity. Mike go by faster I was GonNa ask you earlier. How long are you required to stay at the space like try not to get super overwhelmed and take on small things one at a time like maybe maybe try some therapy and see what a professional says about the situation? I hope that you and your husband are open communicators with each other so really relaying your loneliness leanest there and maybe trying to figure out some sort of compromise if there is it. I don't know enough about military life or living so I don't know how difficult maybe to leave the base or work part time or whatnot but it sounds like it's not sustainable. The way it is right now but don't let that overwhelm you in a crazy scary very way you've got so much time in life you're super young. Just take it one step at a time as cheesy as that sounds because you will find a way to figure either this relationship out or independence out or whatever you want to do. But how long are we supposed to be there. I think it's like free me yet. But then we like thing you can make station somewhere else so we could be like a couple but he's being upset that he doesn't like the army and he doesn't intend to to. It'd be in the army for a long time so I had no idea like what will happen. I think he's on. That will go and so I'm always I was thinking like ahead like I'm always thinking on what will happen but I think coming to take that back and beloved Kane think as it happened like you said take it one step at comic traumatic tickets. Smart you know Finkel Tamar instead of what happens in a couple of years time. This is one of the more emotional calls for for me. Because I don't want you to feel obligated to do the societal path especially if there's something of course ars if if there's something that isn't making you happy and in terms of like any kind of violent tendencies that your husband may have don't fucking no I don't know shit but I want you to be happy and I want you to feel like that while we put a lot of shame on ourselves for a separation when we've made a public commitment and that it's okay it's more than okay to leave. Just being honest with yourself is probably the best first thing you can do and just really ask yourself on a regular basis. Is this worth it. And am I happy and just remain honest with yourself and if you are you will find the right thing that you need to do. But it's not our place to tell you to leave or stay. Yeah it's really what you WanNa do and how you're feeling about it and just remember like being unhappy is exhausting is horrible. It's a horrible feeling and so just put weight on that when you are weighing the pros and the cons. I wish AH could hug you. I wish I could just reach across the Atlantic Ocean just argue in and be like dude. We're going to fucking do this. Do Do this shit if your base has a counselor they might. I would recommend both of you going if it's free. I know money's an issue you so if there's a counselor there just talking to anyone is a helpful. It'll be helpful for both of you doesn't have to be a couples counseling thing. You can just be a place to go so it'll feel less lonely when you have someone regularly that you're seeing if you can. I don't know if that's available but I seems like a place where someone working in mental health might be so you should check and see the resources available to because if it is and you're part of the community there you should definitely take advantage of it in house over a long time so I would love about being a counselor therapist and someone that kind of work on this stuff especially with him. I feel like he's just started like crazy. Take my buy definitely can kick them up and get them to come with me. That's good and you should even if he doesn't WanNa go you can go and you're going to learn more about yourself you're going to figure it out what you really want and things become clear the more time you you know talk. Yeah yes completely honest. I feel like this is done on dot for major talking looking spices new. After like it's good for me too because I feel so I thought you could say to someone about days instead of just keeping it in my head and not being able. It's too long so you WanNa be both very much. You're not alone T- you're so fucking not alone and I love view all right all right. Thank you so much thank you. Thank you.

"HIGHS IS D.. You haven't to be high d this is ANA on my gosh was solely there were here is ed trustee and I can't thank you enough for doing this. I'm so sorry to wake you while I'm like God. I'm allowed him so shut Li- like so many times I think he will be able to call me. We tell us what's going on while. Oh I'm nineteen which I'm still quite young. I got married to my husband I eighteen. And he's in the army so we live together and like the pack and I feel like a relationship now. Living together is very different. I just feel like nick. There's a lot of anger between us but always arguing We have a lot differences. Sexism anymore I mean just over relationship between us I said like really unhealthy and I just got to D- okay. We have a few questions. What you guys tend to argue about? It's kind of like really like brandon stuff like we could argue about like today. We argued about that great the living room and he wanted something war and I was like no we should do something like and it just kind of Tun into this whole big thing and it's just like really small little things not necessary. How highly are you from your family? So I'd I know fuel show. My family live in London. So thanks roughly about maybe five hours if you drive so so far away from the name and do you have friends in the army base where you live. It's kind of hard to make friends here. I mean I'm still quite young and I wanna go out and drink and you know it'd be social and I love the people especially in on me. They're older wives so it's very very different. And they kind of think of me as a child and look down to me so I feel like it's kind of hard to have a frank group age range so in general. You're Kinda lonely. Your most people have experienced extreme degrees of loneliness. But it definitely sounds like where you're at you don't have have your sense of community and it sounds like your husband. Isn't there for you in a way which making you feel lonely. Correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds like you're fighting but he's emotionally finally there for you as he president with you. He isn't. He hasn't Mike. I'm very learned and I do stuff like depression and anxiety and it's something that I've always had to deal with even when I was younger. So sometimes he kinda doesn't understand and he's not definitely emotionally but then other days I would be like crying on his show show and tell him how alone time and he will try and support me and be that means much if he can buy like. It's so hard for him to understand. Like I'm so suffered learning media and by being so far away from all my friends dot com my family. It's sort of hard to be here at the moment. The kids I just don't know is okay so when your husband is working all day do you have other passions i. I'm an artist and painter and like we had like gothic stopping. I try and sell my paintings and I also have a youtube. Google comes on love uploading content and makeup. I feel like social media quite big now so I'm especially YouTube. Dot Com is the the Marmon occupies me. But when all is done are kind of livermore myself like okay. But I'm really still alone. I'm both in Nineteen nineteen so I feel I should be out with friends. You know enjoy my I think so too. Are you getting pressured to have like. I don't know anyone in your life is pressuring you to have kids. I feel so like His family kind of because he's Gone Fishin. He has He's been for different so a lot of fun. They have have kids on young age. By the way my family's growing up like me or won't Chris Bison like have a on track it and have kids. I'm I'm not looking to have any kids right now. I'm still pretty young so I want kids when I'm like my allow da and nice not on the table well right now but it's still like I feel like now that we're married we live together about it except it of me and precious with me have kids but I feel like people how much I am as well that they got. I'm just minding team and that I still want to go out and have fun. I I WANNA know why you felt like you needed to get married Instead of just be dating. Why didn't you guys just move in together Is there a reason why you got married. Yeah that she has like obviously we were in love with young and I love him still lying we went to the Veg- you is in London. And we just got married like his is chronic from antic for us but in another sense it kind of wasn't because we got married to bid together because how what's here in Utah and the army like you need to be married to be able to have a army only patsy cover it kind of makes sense time because no he he's in the army right now and it's so much cheaper and how young young we are. We couldn't really afford to you know stay in electric slot because it'd be too expensive and it was just cheaper and they just just make more sense to be occupied but my son does not know that marine systemized. He's finally. I should like to get married and have kids quite young. Although that's why I think can you wait in my family. You know like My Mom An just get a divorce like us to be together forever but at the moment the way things are the way that argue look in a way that our relationship is unhealthy like ended up in so much no one I thought I just have no idea what to do like with US trying to go out more do stuff together. It's still on money so it's more how to do stuff together if that makes sense. Yeah I mean honestly I have to say you guys are in a difficult situation and you're isolated and you're feeling lonely and I'm sure your husband concede it you're not having the best time there air. And so probably he either feels guilty or he consents resentment or just knows. It's not right and there's a lot of responsibility because he brought you to the army base this essentially so it's on him in a way and so maybe he might be lashing out because of that reason you know he might be feeling threatened or feeling like he's not doing everything anything he can to make the relationship work and he's maybe not able to process it while I mean again. You both are young like when I was eighteen or nineteen. I didn't know how to like communicate really well. Wouldn't definitely wouldn't know how Adam moved to an army base with someone and just be isolated and not know anyone. I think that you guys are an incredibly complex situation. I think being on the base and being isolated late is almost trumping. Everything in the sense that if you were in an apartment in London I feel like we have a better idea whether the relationship is on the rocks or not I think right now. Everything's thanks through this sort of Lens of being there basically and how difficult it is so it's really hard for me to say. Actually whether or even for you. It's probably hard for you to get enough clarity looking at the relationship because it's framed in such a intense way I guess by being on the space the I'm not saying get divorced. I'm just saying it might take a vile or it might take a change of scenery for you guys to get to a place where you can really evaluate. How things are you know like divorce? I feel life does not want to think about a second option right now and I wanted to watch for it and you know being really open with him and his like Oh you know. This is how I'm feeling like I'm always expressing. Somehow be the and and you know one day and moved to Los Angeles. I WANNA pursue an upgrade capital D.. One day love to talk to you. We like high like you've been my dream and it's just so awesome needs to kind of pitch out because it's a bubble of been stuck here a new kind of having fun and being like now that I'm married now that I'm on on trump. This is going to be the best semi and it's kind of scary because I'm not happy and now that he's not happy either because he has said that to me as well so we kinda felt. Do you miss your parents. My that is like never in my life. So He's like pitch Bought my mom that she needs to China. Which I'm a people I like? She's such a strong mum. Reagan full Kids on our and she finally doing something that she's always wanted to do like she's been China teaching I could finish I miss so much like my mom is my ideal on. I love by much. And she's sorry strong and it's hard not having hot that but we used to not get longer only my mom by the way she's kind of the other thought it alone that what we got on so much. I trust my mom with all like the situation over time as well like she thinks it. Same as me like it's been a healthy and and we need to work it out and like that. He has an aggression like When we get into an augment- he has punched rule the holding Hubble constant that don't WanNa pot and we kind of got through that and he was Story much. I sometimes have a lot longer to but it comes out in my the ball instead of the cool. So what buzz. Like angry people will so. It's kind of more difficult to kind of get for Travel Audi. This is definitely wary unqualified. I wish I could give you good helpful advice about that but that is a little bit disturbing. Yeah have you ever felt afraid of your husband. Has He ever made you feel unsafe when we had the argument and he like tore the door like you got angry. Shut doing he punched for that scared me and that she loved and called my mom and I hi Joe Doug Van Like Momma needs you like I need you to get makes. I don't draw so my mom would buy back. Take me home home and I stayed back like everything was still thought. I thought like still didn't change the fact that he's got me so much like Human Komo me and I know and The way that I know that I consider being brought up to but I- dot time. Yeah he he did scammy thought like I said I look on it and it still doesn't change the fact that anything.

Yeah Okay so you tell us what's going on. Yeah yeah so I married till like what my life my sweet baby angel. Josh and he is just like so wonderful I love him. He like anticipates my needs and I just am so grateful for that and and I just am really annoying because I'm a behavior analyst and maybe like I'm like a high maintenance person I feel like and I have a lot of places Susan outlet to vent and I have a lot of friends and family close by all about Charlie. Get it out like if there's any little annoying thing I like bitch about it to come come home and feel great. Josh like doesn't have that coolest like core group of friends and I just like. I don't know this isn't a problem. I don't care about that but I want. I hope that he house house somewhere. I don't like bitch about me and so I don't know like if there's a way I can help him find homeys or like should I just leave him alone to you. Seem happy but I just we're like also you know we we're trying to have a baby and the next week or so. I JUST WANNA make sure we're like tight before you. You know we have this new adventure that we go into guess. I love that you guys are really close a liberty. Your husband loves you in the have this intimate relationship because I crave that all the time. That's what I found out that I need. Yeah Kobe's Yep so is he. He's working is he Oh yeah he I love since Does he communicate with you openly for Doug. You guys have to confide in you. Oh Yeah Yeah Yeah for sure. Maybe you're all he needs. Yeah that's totally possible. That's why I feel so silly like you know bringing it up play. He has a really fulfilling job and he's just like eleven life. He's been like doing rinkside projects with his dad better. I got so using the part of this is also a you missing your friends. I don't know I see them all the time. It's it's not like a thing where I don't feel weird going out on my own without Josh in judgment. Never ever like hold me back in any way which is why we're married because is I'm kind of like a go like I just keep going and I work a ton and I just didn't really like driven in my career and I really value my personal like friendships and personal relationships. In like he's so down with I he's like Oh you know deliver about it. Sounds like maybe you want him to have like this crew. The friends that he doesn't have but maybe he doesn't need the friends. Maybe it feels a little too intense just like him focusing all his energy on you so much. Maybe you're kind of like. Oh I wish you had like a crew. If you could just like go do your thing with yeah maybe what it sounds like. Maybe doesn't want one or need one. I guess it's also that I like because I work so much. I WanNa make sure that he's like cool when not there so like I'm not home as often as they should be. But that's the thing that I think we fall into. Yeah as we get into relationships relationships. Look the guilt factor. Like you know meant there to make dinner. I'm not there to the sea. Change the laundry. Yeah I totally think about that thing. Yeah I don't know I over analyze kind of all situations in like naturally analyze human behavior. Because that's what I do fear living and I think it's hard to turn off and I'm just wondering if that's what makes you feel distant a little bit from your husband. I wonder if he's feeling a little bit of pressure from like a constant examination. Yup Be you already know what to God isn't it. That's an annoying thing about being like in any kind of therapy Career though like you would think think we'd be better at it but it's sometimes it's hard to like self anouilh's and self monitor and do that utilize so Canas at strategies. I guess I think I just seem to like prioritize. Feel and you know what this is also the time of the year when all of us are you're losing our minds producer at the end of the day. It's just GonNa be it's GONNA be Youtube. Yeah so how you connect just with the two of you guys is because maybe he's also feeling that you have a lot of friends in your social and outgoing and maybe he hasn't always felt that way which is definitely something might be one one of those guys though. I'm one of those girls. Yeah some people just aren't social media and it's not even when we are in social settings keeps fine lines. He's not even like a guy who's like weird about bringing him into social settings because like when we are with our mutual friends like we're not like glued to each other. We're like Out You know living our life talking so he doesn't even have like one best friend his best friend main accuser calling and chatting with him once in a while. I don't know I feel like I can be a little bit of a solitary person so I appreciate a solitary partner. Patty my wrong. I feel like you guys have a really really good relationship. I'm not sure there's a big problem. No there isn't I really like talking. You're just like Jesus Ladies He. He's so great. No I'm totally faithful for our relationship so like I just need to prioritize and chill out. No it sounds like you you are because you've called the random podcast where people don't know what the fuck they're talking so you are prioritizing yeah. I don't know if we help do at all I'd I certainly no. I think this is something. Blonde like very like St. Pauli like Beer Mitch. And kind of thing and she came in like stay with me at my college and like I just chest moved into the my dorm and everyone thought it was like this player and it was really funny that that was because it was the furthest thing from the truth but it was like girls stay with them for like two weeks and then having sex every night because people could hear it and it was just like it was fine but how did I initiate the first time lately. WHOA WHOA WHOA was in the ocean? It was in the ocean. You in the ocean in college with this German girl. And that's how you guys had sex in the ocean water. Sex is not like a newer new. It's very weird and then it just Berg really drunk me. We went to this island. It was like on a weekend break and we went with some friends and there was no store or cars or so. It's like a very isolated spot off off Cape Cod and we were late for the ferry and didn't have time to shop for food and all there was was one thing pasta and tomato paste. We made the most disgusting Neil the six of us and then we then drank. After we played quarters. We played that you like balanced the quarter into a shot. Glass is very worse so we we had no food or got shit hammered drunk all went skinny dipping. And then that's how it started. I hate tomato paste. It annoys me. It's just so sour and bitter just dump it all into your yeah. That's what we did. We ate possible just tomato paste disgusting but we're starving. We had driven five hours we needed. You're very intuitive like you're so curious which may be all great. Artists should be so no urine school again. You're becoming a psychologist therapist which is terrifying to me. I love it so fascinating. Yeah well it's fascinating to you but it's terrifying for me because as your friend. What if you analyze linesman? I'm like a ferris. "As it did when that was writing up. There is a break-up or like something that's personal that's happened in my life. I retreat. I don't talk to anybody Ebay and learning. That hurts people's feelings that are close to me. I'm like the opposite. I feel like if I got into some sort of traumatic break-up or something like that I need to be around friends and like process like that. Yeah when I went through my last person I was like I had a friend of mine. Who was looking for an apartment like move move in to my house because I wanted like company all the time because I was so upset about it? That's the cruising about even. If you're the one deciding to do the break-up it's still oh so traumatic. Yeah but then when you had a lot of friends calling you saying like what's going on what's going on what's going on. Did you respond only with some people not all the time because then it just like. I'm repeating beating myself and it's like. How much do I really WanNa tell? Let's talk about other things. It's just destructors. If I needed advice I'd be like what do I do. View like stressful. I marry treater. Unlike I'm just GONNA go lows the blinds down into that ocean find out how deep the water is unless unless scuba dive down there his review when I get little Fussy with some of my co workers. I just start singing. I don't WanNa wait for our lives to be over the want to know right now. It's going to be like that but but I keep going. I don't WANNA wave and people get so mad at me. It makes me feel delicious. Nepal cool. I don't know it was. It was the since since creek. Yeah yeah is that powerful member. What's this on that you can't get read Liberty Liberty Liberty Liberty? I don't know that one. It's it's the liberty mutual like I watched MSNBC and anchor that also do take me back Manhattan Bags Neo Just long into see when small little hormone one hundred folk to see that I'm lonely can't see an answer. Go on but wait. You don't have a song that gets in your head I do. I can't think of it right now. Yeah it's a good weapon. It's not necessarily one song was like whatever some new song that I heard in the just some for some reason if it's like an earworm just like lingers and then it'll stick in me sometimes I remember years ago. I couldn't stop singing. The song by James Blake. It was a Doodoo it was. I was singing the piano part. Not actually his vocal apart. We believe the nineties was thirty years ago. Most that's insane to me depressing because I was a teenager in the early nineties and I remember people like in seventh grade. The let's listen to classic rock led Zeppelin from like the seventy s or something. That was only film years from age now but felt such another world where. I'm like the nineties double that amount out of time away and that's what my Book Two Thousand Twenty Years Ago Insane. That's I'm sorry I'm just thinking trading me out. I know I know the Internet came in time. Just went into hyper drive. Yeah yeah all right so I wanted to talk to you about the idea of the composition of a song. How the fuck do you do that are usually in collaboration? So I'll say that like I have a harder time when I'm alone making decisions on like the craft and the shape of a song equity mean it's like a combination of writer's block and self doubt where you're like I don't know and it's like I also find that like I can easily start doing things I've already done. And they start to sound like a little the two Samy to something already done. So that's why like to collaborate with other people so that they like push me into Arizona. Oh I didn't even think about like having a break here or doing this chord progression over. We're here whatever okay. So how do you compose a fucking song means something. There's a Song Colorado from our two thousand six album album yellow house. I guess this is really cool because I wrote it. I unlike very lo FI. It was just me and a keyboard aboard and a loop and then I gave it to the band and like it just grew and grew and they kept adding so many things like that song really represents like the best collaborative breath like truly. Every member of the band added so much to the song and it just like went from a very like not that exciting like little like ninety. Second two minute thing that I did into this just like very like long epic sonic adventure that like. I could've never ever written the parts that they wrote for it but favorite instrument. I'm not an instrumentalist. I I was like the vocalist and play like very rudimentary guitar and piano. Like a terribly basically and I just would backup stuff in the man but I love the piano. I I I find it easier to write on. Because it's I don't know I just I can't really articulate. There's like the control of absolute rhythm are like hard. I Peter like that it's like the staple. It's like the bread of the instruments. I think it's like it's so nostalgic. Unlike romantic to me so many different styles els of music use it. A Guitar feels sort of heavily anchored into like be rock genre even though yes you can use it in all sorts of different ways but the piano second you can you know what's good some classical going on. I was reading something about how you talked about the labels and how when you're music is described. How how the ruffles feathers because it ruffles my feathers I am just called a comedic actor I mean it is annoying and when we were starting there was this trend called called freak folk? And that's what we were labeled like the first year it doesn't exist anymore. It was like an. We're talking on like blogs of two thousand and four like whatever started calling. That's when I started which I guess just basically like less accessible folk music and so we were annoyed but then we're also like wow press press like cost what you want. We'll take and then we just sort of got lumped into indy indies slash folk rock world thinking. Grisly bear might be the best band name of all time. I needed turn acts. He wasn't actually bear. Either which is the funny part. He was the opposite of a bear. Which is why I call them that they tell me about your love life? I'll tell you like a crazy story about a really weird penis in my past capacity Penis P P. When I was in my early twenties living thing in New York pre APPs pre smartphone there was a website called nerve dot com and I was just beginning to feel my like a gay situation who's called nerve nerve dot com? Yeah it had articles about sex but then they had a single section and I was going on a lot of dates and one night I went on a date with the sky where we went to a place called the boiler room steamy gave are and then we ended up going back to his place in prospect heights and we were hooking up and he had. I've never seen one again like this. It was a bright angle penis. That Iraq was fully bent as a right angle. Oh it's a thing I guess but it was extremely hard to maneuver and deal with and I was really trying to like work with that. It was kind of a gone zones knows and this is when it's a wreck and it was kind of facing down so it was like if you didn't lift it up. It would flop down again. You'd have to the door latch or something that could just talk. And I didn't know what to do and it was honestly. It was alarming. Such a young. It was this one of your first lovers maybe after a dozen lovers and they WANNA defend whoa. I don't WanNA peaking a shame. Either you how this buildup like. Also I feel like we didn't have jailing and so I feel like it could hit some great great spot. You know like I might actually be fucking amazing if you're but for my mouth. It was confusing Hughes. Your mother was ah hard angled elect. Yeah it was just like I'm having a hard time working with this and getting At it properly. It's kind of made it awkward. Because I didn't really know what to do and then I think he could sense that I was kind of like having a difficult time with the angle up at all and so I kind of just let him finish himself. I just.

He's e- original member of the Brooklyn. Based Indie Rock group Grizzly Bear. The group began as the solo effort of drowsy with the release of Horn Aplenty in two thousand and four to look at this bio didn't write. This is from what I didn't even know. Her name was D- Roasti Ramsey. toasty like a cocoa noodle. Sounds like Jersey but it's a German Dutch and there's a CO company called Memorial I don't know about it's a tiny little dumpling as awesome. So I guess that's gifts civilians brother. Yeah older one younger just two. Here's anger and is he mad at you. Know he's a sweetie but the fact that he's going to be turning forty soon as also insane to me he works for the Red Sox and Boston is a real boss calcium. You're are you Boston by no. I don't think I'll ever live in Boston gun. Do you think that there is a difference between East Coast West Coast are you. Okay Okay we will you tell me about that are still as an east coaster and having lived most of my life in New York City and being from Boston I still marvel at California life. It's still bill like even though I've been here seven years it's still like fresh to me. I'm like Oh my God. There's an aloe plant next to the fire hydrant. That's insane like it's also more relaxed and the nature's better. I'm GonNa you say that but do you Miss East Coast. No actually don't miss it at. Why New York's was really? It's just stressful. It's like it's spending so much money to have such a small space and to you like wait in line for everything every time. There's a new exhibit somewhere or like a new restaurant. It's so not user friendly. Let's put it that way. I feel like in La Save the whole thing is about the hustle as opposed to a community experience where you'll be like. Hey everybody let's go check out that new exhibit. Grab but drink after. That doesn't happen here. I mean I feel like there's a community element but I know what you're talking about. I also Miss Walking. I'll say that even though I I have a bike and I bike I can walk them so much as I can in my area not like a sports big NAIDA. Are you not like I'm cliche. That has zero interest in sports. Like I actually actually literally zero. I don't even care about figure skating. I think you might just not be a collective supporter which the news that I admire here for everyone to enjoy it. I just don't need to be a part of that journey follower auto sports do you let sports i. I don't know but you're not sure. Yeah listen I love the idea of being able to throw a ball and know that it's going to shoot across. I don't know thirty yards. That must feel fucking fantastic and the same thing with like knowing that physical security security understanding how your body moves to succeed is something that I just. Don't fucking no me. Neither we map map before are occasionally we did. I don't know maybe we didn't do. We mean it like mark's birthday. Maybe maybe I don't know I just remember the the first time we vacation together. Would you go and group vacation again are like a group vacation dear listeners so I went to this group vacation Shen it was busy Phillips Michelle Williams Phil Lord I Renew Worth Andro St Chad Trod. Yeah Ju you and Chris and then Sir be. Group home was on Mexico but did bring me back to that time when I was. I don't know maybe ten years old and I met a slumber party and the groups are divided. Call my dad we please pick let me have also is like everyone's fighting words did we wanted to do like adventure stuff like we were like. Let's go horseback riding. And then there are other people that just is wanted to chill and also the kids didn't have time and we went on a crazy crazy horseback riding two of them live without a hulme. It was definitely like we are going to die was extremely dangerous but it was awesome. That was a highlight for me like when I think of that trip was the horseback ride. I totally totally agree. But here we are eight years later. Okay let's say we're all on a bus together Okay which bunk door take yes middle taking. We do the Middle Bunk one-two-three what there's one two three two one two what's luxury thus we had to cram a lot on ours. Ours is a twelve bus that we rose on. And there's a bottom one middle and top and too much coach K.. The bottom you're near People's feet so it's like the middle is the only one we were kind of like you can just crawl in the easiest. That's my see you were a middleman as the middleman. Aluminium Middlemen on the right hand side of the bus. Because they safer. Because I sleep on my left side more okay and I don't want to be facing in the hallway where people walk by so I was like I just want to be facing the wall. Did you special pillow. What are your bring a pillow? Okay see you brought your pillow. Do you prefer like a feather or other. Synthetic I like a combo. Actually okay at home. I have once that one feather serve different. Surpluses will the feather can be to just weird then it can bunch up the feather intellect the right thing and then use the base synthetic as more support port. What other things do you bring on tour? It's insane to our situation on the buses like because we can't afford to get like two buses or you know six six bunk thing because we have too many people because we live with the whole crew as well. So it's like you have to pack as light as possible because there's nowhere to really put your luggage and so it's like ends up being like all all over the place and then you basically living out of a suitcase and there's not really much you can bring to like make it feel like home okay. So you're driving through. I don't know scan save. North Dakota Switch Duckling driven through North Dakota many times so is there an argument. That happens about ways stopped for dinner that used to be more the case when we were driving before the bus. But I think the bus dictates all so. You can't really tell the bus to stop. Because the driver has a specific like times that he's GonNa drive and then he has to legally take certain time off to sleep. There's all these laws about it and like you can't be stopped pullover. It's like he stops when. Ah You have to literally plan ahead. It's even more intense in Europe because the toilet yet because the times they can drive are shorter so to get to the distance from A to B and then in Europe live on the bus and they're so gross. These guys that we have they would be wonderful. I know these guys and they were like balls off but you at your balls do it. That that is something that I don't know as a woman balls do which I don't feel the need to them in front of like if I started. It might be kind of weird mad at all just like to ask. Actually I had. Yeah because it does feel like that seems like an area. As an empathetic shirts stigmatized polishing totally Salaam was run for office and be like our number one goal is to let people scrap Z.. What can we do as women that would also be like freeing do vaginas China's which I don't know I guess I'd like to know do I mean you know if there's like an irritation right but you just regular just like driving a leg or band member right? I don't have vegetable bambridge. Okay so ED. Can I ask you some musical questions. Please do so. I WanNa know what Song that you've created is most meaningful meaningful to you. I don't know after about ninety to think about it because it's kind of changes like which song actually I think. I also have some sort of separation from a little bit. Where like while? I'm making them they. They're very like raw and Cathartic. And there's like a lot of emotion in it but then once you perform them a certain amount of times like I start to separate great myself from it. It becomes something that I'm performing and I try to channel into that when I'm performing but it just like it doesn't have the same intensity.
