"Think I just think that's more about Dylan's going way too late. And Jones is going slightly too late. But I might try to have Aaron Jones and Nick Chubb. For example, on this very same podcast, we did a segment about who's going to score the most points what team is going to score the most points in the NFL this season. Okay. And I was saying, I love the chiefs this year. It's going to be a recurring theme on this podcast for the next three weeks because it's mahomes that are offensive line. And they trade tyreek and people are like, ah, the weapons, where are they? And my thing is, the biggest weapon in the league is mahomes with time. So looking at the chiefs receivers and supporting cast stuff, if mahomes has time, I feel like that could be an inefficiency for auctions or drafts. Just pick your three chiefs for savers they let grab all of them. Take off them or spend like a little and maybe hit with one, maybe hit with two, but he's going to throw for 5000 yards this year and he's going to get all the same stats. He always gets. He hasn't had time really since 2018. Where we actually know he's going to be able to cook this year. And I just like him in general. So anyway, what do you think of that? Moms is going to be awesome. I don't know that I agree with because I think it's going to be Kelsey. It's hard to say that losing a player of the caliber of tyreek hill is good from homes. It isn't, right? Obviously, that's a loss. Having said that to your point, sometimes a quarterback because you've got this highly paid sort of superstar diva wide receiver. You feel like you sometimes need to force the ball to him and getting him. Remember last year, they were frustrated because so many teams were playing too high deep on them and like I couldn't get deep and it was just a bunch of dink and dunk stuff. And so this year now, they have a much more varied receiver core. And so Kelsey will get his. But adding juju adding MBS sky more, they have Hardman still there. Having all those guys, I think sort of opens it up from a home to your point with time, look around. To me, the guy that I love there is due to the shoots. Me too. Everyone forgets how good this guy was. His first couple of years in the NFL. He played with the corpse. He had a corpse as a quarterback. Exactly. Pittsburgh turned him into this slot receiver. Ryan Switzer, they turned him into this small possession receiver and it's not because Judy suddenly forgot to play football. Right. It's because Ben Roethlisberger was just toast. He had a noodle for an arm at that point. And so honestly, my take on Pittsburgh is that for everyone bagging on trubisky, like that's an upgrade. I think Pittsburgh has a better quarterback this year, whether it's picket or trubisky than they did last year or the last two years. And so juju, who's, I think, still only 25 years old. People forget how young he was when he came into the league. Now he's going to play the sloth, but he can line up at all three positions. He can run all the routes, and now he's with Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. So I think juju has a monster year here. Well, you know what's interesting about him last year? The ringer has him 78th overall. So he had 75 75 catches for 700 and 17 yards last year, which is terrible, right? That's like 9 yards. A 115 targets. And you just think like, I watch those Pittsburgh games. Ben literally couldn't throw the ball down field. No. So now you have mahomes with time and that extra two seconds when guys are running around because he just created two more seconds for everybody. I'm with you. I don't know how juju just became a stiff. That you have to tie the quarterback to that. A 1000%. He's had 36 career games with 7 or more targets. He averages 18.1 fantasy points per game, Tyreke and Byron Pringle, those two leave 219 targets. And by the way, DeMarcus Robinson is now in Baltimore. So he had that, but almost a 35% target share is now up for grabs. I'm not saying all that goes to juju. Obviously again. Hardman's going to get his MBS will get some sky more Kelsey, maybe gets an increase, but I do, don't you worry about Kelsey a tiny bit, just because of the history of that position with tight ends. They usually have 6, 7, 8, great years, but we're old enough to remember fantasy when Ben Coates was an absolute beast for 5 years. And then it just died. And we've seen that over and over again. We saw with Shannon Sharpe. It's all Gonzalez. At some point it just dance. You're not going to be getting a 120 targets anymore. Jimmy Graham, until Gates was another great one. Gates was sort of limped out there last couple of years. I'm not worried about Kelsey just because, a, I think he's just he's sort of a different guy, and I think those be smart about how they

"They're not even trying to put talent up there. It's just not good. Yeah, I think, and this is not a direct comp between these two coaches because I don't think they could be any different, but unfortunately the logic there with Maddie flew in Justin Fields is the same thing that we heard for years about Rex Ryan and Mark Sanchez, right? Was that here's this defensive genius who's going to throw so much at Mark during practice that during games he's going to be more prepared when in reality it was just a defensive beat down on a daily basis that made Sanchez even less likely to develop. And I'm not saying, I think Maddie flew is smarter than that. I don't think he's going to do that. And I think he was the right hire. That's the thing. Bears fans hate my Justin Fields take that he should request a trade right now. So much, but it's also like, I think you guys are doing the right thing. I just think it sucks to be Justin Fields. Like, I think you hired the right coach in the right GM. I think tanking this year in some way, shape or form, not like egregiously. It's a good idea because you're not going to win that division. You're probably not going to finish second or third in that division. And so just ride it out, figure it out, but it's just also sucks for Justin Fields. That's all. Connor, who moves you emotionally on this roster. Darnell Mooney. I'm all in on the moon, man. It's weird like trying to reintegrate myself with bear's Twitter via my love of Darnell Mooney. Has not been has not really been a great success. That said, he's just so good. I watched a lot of his highlights just a couple of days ago again. And reminds me a lot of, I mean, I covered it all Beckham's rookie season in New York. It's a lot like that. I mean, I think he's that good. I'm actually staying at the receiver position, and I'm gonna go with Byron Pringle, who he's gonna be on the field a lot. And here's a player that's gonna play football. Yep. I think if you are playing football and soldier field, there has to be some recognition of, this is gonna be a slow track. We're gonna play in some crappy weather. We're gonna have some limits here. Byron Pringle just sort of fits that. He's not an explosive receiver. He's not a speed guy. He's a guy you're gonna put out there for, I don't know, sort of a Muhammad Sanu type of contribution here, although you didn't have to pay the kind of price that the falcons and subsequently the Patriots and draft capital paid to get Muhammad Sanu on their roster. So yeah, I like Byron Pringle is like the ultimate role player receiver here in this city on this roster for a team that is going to lose a lot of games by two touchdowns.

"Chiefs. He went to the Miami Dolphins. I'll give you my quick take and then you go. The chiefs are dead and yet, I actually agreed with this trade. I think you can have both opinions about the same trade. I think that for your run they had come to kind of an end of what that iteration was. And they had to move to a new phase, which they recognized. They made this trade. And yet I weigh less scared of the chief. So they made a trade. I agreed with. And I think they're worse. Okay, so they're Super Bowl odds went from plus 900 to plus 900. So books wise. Not been changed. So it's interesting, right? Because I very much had that experience when I went to go write about my these are the consequences of the tyreek hill trade. And you kind of end up at this place where it's like, all right, but also, you know, they got Andy and they got mahomes and Kelsey's so good. They got cap space now and they're going to be able to attract some free agents or whatever. They just signed markets of all the scantling. I did have that internal sense that I think books did as well, where it's like, all right, the chiefs inevitability thing still feels real, though. And so right, there's so many different ways to look at this. That you can end up defending like any give or take. And kind of what this all hinges on is how healthy and effective this tyreek hill stay for the next four years. And if he's still this quick and this explosive, when he's 32, the dolphins are right. And if he isn't, then the chiefs were right. We won't be able to tell. I think until we get all the way down that mountain a little bit. Because I get why it makes sense for the chiefs to absolutely make sense to the dolphins. And I think you're right. The chiefs are kind of moving into phase two of the mahomes era. That's going to be really fun to see. And that was what you wrote about. You had a statin there about 16.1% of hills targets in 2021 were more than 20 yards downfield, which is significant because three seasons earlier, it was 31.8. And then it dropped to 25.2 and that was two years earlier, actually. And down to 16.1. Now, you thought you and Warren sharp would talk about this on the gambling show. You thought at least a small piece of that was that defenses had kind of figured out not a way to play the chiefs, but a strategy to try to limit what hill did. So how do we know if he lost this step versus the defenses? That's a very good question. And a lot of there's a lot of data about how fast is tyreek hill get off the ball and how quickly this you get up feeling these vertical routes like next gen stats charting him through the 2020 season. So before 2021, had hills like the fastest guy off the ball on goes and I'll post it on the crosses. Like all these field stretching routes, hail was running them faster, more explosively, more dangerous than everybody else. And then it feels like we lost that a little bit last year. Are the chiefs telling us that that's because they think hill as lost a step. You can read that between the lines here. But in general, that field stretching nature pills play up until 2020 fell away a little bit in 2021. And some of that has to do with defensively what you're getting, right? When you're getting these two deep safeties and when they know number ten is on the field and they know what he means, they're getting so much attention from guys already lined up 15 yards, 18 yards down the field, that it becomes more difficult to access hill on those vertical routes. All those deep routes. It doesn't mean that hill can't open up space in the intermediate. You still run that guy down the field. Safety's still got to go with him. And now it's a little bit easier to throw your 13 yard slant to Byron Pringle or your 15 yard curl route to Travis Kelce or whatever you want. So he still opens up that space. It's just, do you want to be paying $25 million for a player to be opening that space? If you believe internally, that one, you can pay $12 million to market as well as scanning. And he'll still open up space for you. And two, the defenses are always going to prioritize taking away your deep wall. The as long as 15 is a quarterback. As long as mahomes can chuck it, 65 yards down the field, four seconds into the snap. Teams are going to prioritize taking away our deep space, then we can't really prioritize in terms of our money in terms of our cap. Paying the most preeminent deep threat in the league. That's what hill it was for them. That's what he was for four years. The best detail there is. There is a disconnect there. And I think the other thing that matters in that disconnect schematically is that, well, the chiefs decided to start throwing the ball short and start running the football board to try to get teams out of these two high looks. Just not really hills game. Hill's not a very contact loving player. He doesn't want to go hit a guy or block a guy. He's just not him. And so when you're throwing it short and you're asking him to break attack on a bubble screen or when you're running the football and you're asking him to get involved as a run blocker. It's just not where he was maximized. I'm not saying that's why they got rid of it. That'd be really dumb. But they do, I think, see internally, I need to get a little bit bigger and a little bit more physical. All across the offense. Think the prioritize speed and tackle angle braking, agility, a little bit too much, and now you're seeing that backswing a little bit. You saw them change down the offensive line. Now you have mark as well as scaling due to Smith Schuster. Those are big physical receivers. The chiefs want to get bigger. They want to get a little bit more physical and tyreek doesn't.

"Because we've all kind of wondered, okay, what's Patrick Mahomes going to be when the day comes that Travis Kelce is retired and Tyree kills are tired. And he's thrown into Michael Harmon and Byron Pringle. I guess Byron Pringles out there anymore. Juju Smith Schuster is in there now. Not even Byron Pringle. I know I was going to say he wishes he is Byron Pringle. But this is pretty well, by the way. This is not an ad, just how good are Pringles. I just want to throw that out there. You don't like Pringles? Oh my God. Well, let me because this is going to sound like I'm just like this is first take and I just had you on to disagree with you about everything and that's really not the case. If anybody came with Rohan took Mitch golditch in our editor Mitch golden tonight on a taco crawl through Los Angeles and it was honestly one of the top 5 most delightful days of the last 5 years. And it was just wonderful. And that was the first time I actually met you in person. That's right. That's right. Did not disappoint. It was like the whole experience was phenomenal. But I don't like Pringles. But anyway, let's just say it's okay. I might have to pop open a can later today. I was going to say, I also don't like Pringles, but I'll do it like Connor. I like Connor wear that one. So let's talk about the cheese. Tyreek hill is gone. He was there, he was obviously their biggest speed element. They still have Michael harbin. They still have some guys who can run. But hill was the guy, both downfield, out of structure stuff. And also, look, Connor, you have championed this cause. It is my favorite take of the off season. It's not a take. It's smart football analysis that the check down. The shorter catch and run opportunities, that's what is going to define offense in 2022..

"And I was like, I don't know how to explain this to you. This is my job. And we're on a podcast right now and we just sent we both sound like Chris Farley for like, oh it was awesome. There's no other way to there's no other way to describe it. You should have told people actually you blacked out for three years. It's 2025, and this is a different game now. I mean, it probably will be the next three AFC title games. Let's be real. Hopefully. So this is been discussed quite a bit already, but the bills had a number of just unfortunate little inefficiencies down the stretch here. You know, kicking the ball into the end zone after the last touchdown with 13 seconds left, if you keep that in the field of play, you're risking Byron Pringle. Having a big runback, which is it's unlikely he does have a kick-off return touchdown in his career, but it is unlikely it wasn't a Tyreke Hill back there. If you do that, you've essentially limited the chiefs to two snaps instead of three. And then they just the bills are kind of caught in between. They didn't know how to guard the chiefs at that point. They didn't know what the chiefs would be trying to do. And boy, I mean, Sean McDermott might not sleep for the next, I don't know, 11 months. This is true. And it's funny. I was talking to, I was talking to somebody who coached college football for a long time and played college football. And this person was in his mid 60s. I met him this weekend while I was down in Nashville. And we struck up a conversation and he was in like a game that he lost in like the 1960s. And he's like, I still have vivid nightmares about this game. It's miserable and it haunts me. Imagine something like this. Like the magnitude of which, I mean, that was a big game for him in his life. But this was you hate to say it this way, but probably Sean McDermott's best shot, right? I mean, with the roster that age, like everyone gets a little older now like too late, Jerry Hughes, like those guys, you're really you're great veteran guys that have really helped you this year. Do you get another year like you got out of him this year? Do you get another year out of poyer and Micah Hyde, who are getting up there a little bit? I mean, I don't know. I mean, they're great players. They're all pros and I'm sure that they can still play at a high level, but do you get everybody back here that good again and then do you expect the Patriots not to be good, what if the dolphins somehow don't screw up this coaching higher, you know? I mean, there's a lot of there's a lot of what ifs there, you know? There's a lot of what ifs, I will say, even more than a year ago, you have the quarterback is just so entrenched as a superstar at this point..

"The Kansas City scored 6 touchdowns in a row. You're like, all righty then. Wow, it was amazing. And Patrick Mahomes the chiefs quarterback had an early interception, but after that, he was basically perfect. He was 30 for 39 passing 404 yards, 5 touchdowns, Travis Kelce, he threw a touchdown pass. He also caught 5 catches for a 108 yards and a touchdown. 8 different people caught a pass for Kansas City in this football game. And to me, it's a sign that Patrick Mahomes is really evolving. And I've been saying this for weeks now, but I keep repeat it because I want people to hear it. I want to be able to take it to Patrick Mahomes became a better quarterback this year in 2021 and now 2022. He started the year early on kind of a gunslinger forcing throws into coverage and he really had to learn some lessons and it made him a way more successful quarterback because his decision making is so much better. He's spreading ball around very evenly. There was no one dominating receiver in this football game. Jerrick McKinnon was the leading receiver with 6 catches, Travis Kelce, Tyra killed Byron Pringle H at 5 Robinson and Hardman each had four. Mahomes is making really good decisions and spreading the ball around a ton. And it's been impressive to me to watch Patrick Mahomes become more patient, less he's aggressive, and he's still very talented. He'll still make a throw where you're like, you know, falling one direction, make it throw across the field. Just like doing insane stuff with his arm. He's still got the gunslinger in him and the talent is still there. But he's become an even better decision maker and it's way more polished. And honestly, I think early on, you could have compared early this year. You could have compared Patrick Mahomes to Brett Favre. And we saw, in my opinion, Patrick Mahomes this year, turn a corner of decision making and polish that Brett Favre never did. And so I think it's very possible, if not likely we're going to get like the four teams that give them the Super Bowl now, Green Bay, Tampa or kids at your buffalo. I think kids today should still be the favorite and then we might get Green Bay Kansas City, which I think is a repeat of Super Bowl one, if I'm not, if I'm remembering correctly, but it's gonna be Tampa in Kansas City or Green Bay and Kansas City in my opinion. I think buffalo could sneak in there. The rams. You know, they had a great game, but I don't trust that the rams can win a game against Tampa and then against Green Bay to get to the Super Bowl. I still don't trust Matthew Stafford enough for him to win two more games on the road against Tampa. Then against Green Bay. Anyway, you know what I thought about when I watched this game,.

"The issue in this game was there were no big plays, but also there were no like I mean, if you, if Patrick Mahomes puts the ball on someone's hands, they have to catch it. Like you had two Byron Pringle drops, he had to Travis. Kelsey drop, he had tyreek hill, dropped two on the same drive, the second one became interception. And the whole point is you want to get opponents out of that deep cover to shell, well, they're not going to get out of it if you can't just complete like an 8 yard pass. And so the cheese are almost falling victim to the same thing. You say about generic offense X in the league right now, which is, well, let's make them put together a ten play drive instead of just letting them get the big play here. And basically all it's taking right now is big play prevention because it's just it's sloppy football. It's guys who don't catch the ball. I still don't think it's a fundamentally broken offense, but you know you have to have like a basic level execution and a lot of games this year they haven't had that. And I don't think they had it on Sunday Night either. Yeah, I think that's exactly right, Gary. They're missing the magic, but then they're also missing the really routine stuff. And I think it's normal to see teams go through growing pains or transition period. I mean, we always talk about how the Patriots for them September is like the second month of the preseason and they're still figuring out what works and what their identity is. But then generally they would find it later in the season. And I think that's because if you have to have the ability to do some of these routine things well, you have to have the ability to execute simple plays, bread and butter type plays. And I think that's what's missing for the chiefs and it kind of goes back to a theme that we've been talking about all season is that if you become so good at the magic stuff that the magic stuff feels routine, then do you stop practicing actually the routine stuff and then where does that leave you? And I too, Gary thought they'd come out of the biweek, maybe having worked on that a little bit. These aren't necessarily hard things you're asking them to do. They're just like the routine part of players jobs. And so that does seem like something you could clean up in season. So I don't know. Like we said, all the teams in the AFC have some flaw or another, but we just never expected the chiefs flaw to be their offense. It's still probably where to some degree where a lack of a run game or not a lack of a run game, but lack of an explosive running game is probably coming back to bite them a little bit. I mean, you know, you're gaining three and a half, like four yards of carry, you know, but overall you're not attempting a ton of rushes top ten in yards for a tent but I think that some of the other things that you do with Patrick Mahomes and some of the jet sweep stuff and all that sort of adds into the factors there. But I don't know. I just think that, you know, without that sort of downhill presence, you're probably losing a little bit of the element of surprise on the back end because like Gary said you hang in that defense and you're forcing teams to sort of plot along a little bit. And if you can't plot along, it's a harder situation. Vikings, lions..

"And a team number one, V Kansas City chief, now of course this is dependent on money, but guess what? I know you have one of the best wide receivers in tyreek hill. You have the best tight end in Travis Kelce. But as I said, on Monday or I'm probably both Monday and Wednesday is at this. The chiefs don't have anybody reliable other than those guys. I believe they have talent and Byron Pringle and Marcus Robinson and all those guys, I do. But the thing is, they just haven't shown consistency in getting them the ball and the drops on this team. I think adding Odell would be huge to give Patrick Mahomes another weapon is we've seen kind of an uncharacteristic year from them in terms of leading the league and turnovers Patrick Mahomes leading the league in interceptions. Why not add a reliable threat in Odell Beckham junior that could combat the defensive that are so oftenly facing now just the front for pressure to get through this week offensive line, the cover two to where they take away the depot. You can then run the depot with tyreek hill and then have OBJ run those sort of inside routes into the holes of that cover to down the middle and that could also open up this offense for you. I think that would be a great signing for them. So those are my top 5 teams I'd like to see OBJ go for packers forty-niners rams Seahawks chiefs. Those are all contenders, but this is another thing I want to say. OBJ's linked heavily to the forty-niners rams Seahawks. If your bi Arizona Cardinals, why not put a waiver claim in there? Why not do that wouldn't be a bad thing just to put your name in the pool with these other teams in the NFC west if you're going all in if one of these other teams sign them that hurts your team more of it all these other teams, if I was years on the Cardinals, just put in a dang waiver claim for a man..

"While i think that's you know we put this in here to just show the fact that if we can lockdown kelsey and hill and just moderately. Stop the run. I think we're going to have a good chance and we just need to score touchdowns like you're gonna have to score thirty to beat these guys. I don't know what our defense is gonna look like or what they're gonna do over the top people have only been able to score twenty on us but those people aren't the kansas city chiefs offense so we go. I think realistically you need to be able to shut. Cover the top. Keep the top on the defense. Keep the top on those receivers within. We need to get this run game going. We need we need to run the ball control the time of possession. Those are just kind of essential things. We're gonna need to do. I think to to win this game. Yeah i think. I think it goes back to coach staley. We're gonna to do it our way. We have to focus on the chargers and if the chargers execute in the red zone we score touchdowns it's it's going to be tough because their defense is is. It's not that it's not all that i mean so. The chargers right now ranking based on our production offensively number five in the league and we're number thirteen on defense The chiefs are number nine in on on the offensive side and number thirty two they have the worst ranked defense. Get out in the nfl. They get they gave up like we talked about the one hundred fifty three addressing in three hundred twenty one to the browns and they should not have beat the browns. The browns and make a couple of bonehead mistakes. Wow they give up two hundred and fifty yards rushing and two hundred thirty nine yards passing to the raven so this and that was with And matthew having two interceptions and pick six while it was like without some bonehead. Mistakes from the teams are playing. Their own to ended are not. It's not even like it's super super. Close wow So that they add their defense has not not been playing but it doesn't matter if we can't find the end zone and if we have penalties that's what it has to come down to if we clean up our stuff. We should should have a great opportunity to win this game. as i went back and watch the last two games I think when they're on defense the two players that that give me any kind of concern are there to safety. Sorenson in matthew They're they're solid. Those are pro bowl elite level safeties. And they do a lot with them though bring sorenson and puts him off the edge of tara matthew a lot all over the place in coverage of so find those two guys i know just gonna be funding them every play To figure out what what the scheme. That therein And i think the other kind of maybe a little bit. Maybe less focused on attribute to this game is going to be Byron pringle the return guy for the chiefs. He's pretty nasty. I'm real quick. All the returns that i saw he was. He was potential to break one..

"In quarterback. Well you don't run. That's again the i mean like when you start doing the numbers your point about holidays. Great one which is like the rushing gives every quarterback floor. Even when it's not working for tyler you'd be like oh. I still got seventeen points out of him. Because he got you sixty yards and a touchdown or something like on the ground and so Yeah i mean. I have stafford as top swamp guy. I think he's gonna a big year. He's just the promise he's a drop back passer. Will what about the possibility that they just chuck the ball like fucking maniacs. This year if it sony michelle and darryl henderson as you're running backs i'm throwing the ball and i on third in three. I'd actually trust stafford more than sony. Michelle gets for yards. So if you feel like he could throw the ball. You know like those weird rothlisberger those mid thirty late thirty s roth asperger's seasons where it's like. Wow he has fifty one hundred yards. What happened he absolutely. Could you know the the only concern. There is two days they they also have a very good defense. He's not going to need to throw the way he didn't troy. Rams are gonna be one of the best defense in the nfl and the other issue is is that they have a wasn't assigned to sean jackson. They they drafted tutu. Atwell got van jefferson in the second year. But it's really it's cooper cop. Is robert woods tyler. It'd be so kind of a ton of depth. They don't have a ton of experienced staff at the wide receiver position. We'll see what sean jackson has left. And if he can begin stay healthy. Feels like i'm guessing. Nothing right was just you know like if something happens to woods or what happens that assing could same thing about the chiefs weird is you could in theory except back the way we've seen we have seen that situation before we've seen ritual ms time or whatever and whatever the marcus robinson and byron pringle and like you know these random guys show up and have big gains in. So that's one like you could but like we've seen that in it hasn't affected the chiefs. I will say it's interesting. You bring peace. Because i feel like the rams could look at what the chiefs did last year. She's gonna run the ball last year. Had a top year. Their offensive line got banged up throughout the year. Obviously that was the issue in super bowl but they could not They just said screw. We're just gonna throw it. We don't need to run the ball and obviously weren't they got suitable right. I went on the ringer fantasy football. Show which is posting around the same time this is with a basically broke up with twelve guys. That was the gimmick words. It's called it's.

"Slander is the only thing that i can call it on with. Mccoll hardman it. Demarcus robinson and i listen. I'll i'll say there is some fairness to what they have shown thus far in their career. But i do think especially with hardiman is young and i don't think that he's really had a a real fair moment to come in and say all right. This job is mine. I know exactly where i'm going to be. I do think he's had to learn multiple positions and a lot of different things to get on the field and its that play making ability that he has is there. He is a big play waiting to happen. And i guess just like you believe so much in legit serious need. I think that's where i am. In hardman. And i think that explosive playmaking ability to go along with the play caller and the person throwing the ball and never ever will coverage be slanted his way he will always be able to to go against weaker corners at least the teams weaker corners and and probably one on one coverage. And i gotta. I gotta see that he can complete. He will completely be a failure. I just think there's just too much around him and robertson to like robinson he just needs to be solid. And and i think i always said about two marcus. Robinson is. he's just super solid and reliable and to me. That's never once about about demarcus. Robinson never up saying and i just i b. I think he could just be if he is solid five. Andy's playbook still can't remember all of his routes if he could remember the eight that he needs to the eight seven or eight that he needs to come. On man like demarcus robinson has not been trashed. Not find marcus. Robinson is a. I said the word find earlier. I'll say it once again. Here actually applies to robinson. I'm just saying high level starting wide receiver. He's not in the but to me. When you're talking about bringing josh gordon from the dead of football did excuse me that did but the football dead people are talking about nicole hairy and other. You're talking about dede westbrook i. Those guys are good enough. You don't feel like you need to go drag those guys now. I'm not gonna sit here and say like some people are really have belief in by sprinkle that he's going to be something. I'm not gonna go that far but those those two to go along with with tyreek hill. Like i think you are. Just you are just fine right there to be the explosive offense. You need to be with those guys. And i do think especially hard man. I'm not going to send in about the markets. Roberts that take a step forward but i do think we call hartman. Takes us a step forward. And i trust me taylor and nate. Taylor's very smart gentleman. That was a beautiful beautifully rid grape. Proce whatever. I had ready yet. But i'm going to. It was beautifully done. And i agree with the. He's he set. The stage is set for him to make this just calm down. True or false. The chiefs had finished wide receiver core in in the afc west. Not the worst because they have. I mean if you're looking at talk to you would take nobody in the nfl. Probably over what the chiefs have but in terms of depth. Either they have the thinnest in the in the afc. West for the raiders. Rolling out after henry. Rugs and so the raiders. Going into the season have brian. Edwards is pretty good player out of south carolina last year. hunter renfro john brown. Willie snead zeh jones I i would take the chiefs over them. I will take john brown over. Any of the secondary receivers chief south and brian edwards. I'm not taking brian edwards Bryant has some upside. he didn't do much as a rookie but he's got some upside. John brown's how the hell does he get to have upside well. How the hell is brian edwards. Get to have upside mccoll hornet. Doesn't i never said that mccall hartman. Doesn't have upside. My issue with nicole hardman is that he is shown through two years in the nfl. Yeah he's faster than everybody on the football field except for tyree kill. But that's all he can do. Tyreek can go up and get a football. Tyreek can make a cornerback. Look like a joker on the field. I haven't seen that from a coal hartman. I haven't seen nicole hardman. Go up and get a football ever in his nfl career. I'm not sure mccall hartman. Athletic enough to play on the outside and go up and get a contested football. The other thing run is it. It's less to me about his upside in more about his role. And i don't think the role that they want to utilize him in this year is one. That's going to accentuate his skills. I think the role that he would have to be in four that would include tyreek hill. Not being on the roster. And i think that was part of why he was drafted mean. Go back to draft night with gall. Cd what happened there I think they felt that. The role that tyreek hill has in their offenses show valuable that they could not go a season without somebody having the ability to fill that and now they're trying to basically put a square peg into a round hole and i don't think he's the guy to go there and we can go to the chargers as well keenan allen mike williams josh palmer jalen guidon. I liked their death a little bit better than the chiefs as well. The the chiefs have the top end. Talent too far exceed every other team in the nfl and they've got the quarterback to make this thing work but their depth is a real issue in one. Cut down calm. There are going to hopefully be better options than what are available right now out there on the market and i hope that the chiefs are interested in our indu. Consider somebody or maybe multiple. Somebody's that can come in and help this roster receiver because they are completed there in terms of their talent. I can't wait to this damps. Season starts depleted. I mean deplete it. Good god man. I mean. I'm just saying do you think it's going to be somebody like i feel like the people are going to be available in. The range of byron pringle are in the range. And nobody's going to be as good as the market rob. Can you imagine if this team has zach paschal. That's the kind of guy they need. I don't know if i'm willing to go. That far zack pass. I.

"The chiefs need help it receiver. Because i through this week. Certa his sent me. Oh man josh. Gordon ooh the chiefs to go. Look at josh. Gordon who cannot who cannot play who cannot stay on the field. I mean i talk about. You can't trust frank. Clark josh gordon just tells you right away. I'm not going to be able to stay on the field but you can sign me. And then i've seen i don't know about you sort of it. I've seen many people. Discuss the nicole harry the patriots Two thousand nineteen thank you. Who is who is requesting requesting trade. Many people talk about. Hey man maybe the chiefs should take a look at this. We are we serious about this guy who is been a bust right now in nicole hairy it with the patriots now granted. Some of that quarterback play in year. Two that he faced last last year with cam and brian. Hoyer isn't really the great thing to help you out with. But a guy who's been a bust eighty-six targets in the last two years since he's been in the league. And then josh gordon who who who just cannot stay on the field and hell. I don't even know how good he is anymore. Right now he. I mean he hasn't even played long enough to even know how good it's been a long time. Eight nine years since he led the nfl in receiving yards. I we are not in this desperation mode that it feels like every week. Please tell me why the chiefs need to go. Take a look at these two guys. Please sell me on this garbage certa all that you try to sell us on going out there and getting one of these guys josh. Gordon's your dude. Well yes. I love. Josh gordon He had a couple of catches with the patriots a couple years ago. He still got it all right. He had a catch with russell couple years ago in like week. Sixteen josh gordon's so got it baby. No yes obviously. There's question marks. Obviously there's flags but if he gets reinstated. I'm interested in taking a look at him because it doesn't cost you anything to bring him into camp in just cut him if he can't keep it together if you think yes. He's just not good at football anymore. He's out of shape. He's had just hasn't had the reps over the last several years to maintain the level of athleticism and play that you need to succeed in the modern day. Nfl but if we're talking about we want another camp body and we want to bring in another wide receiver and see what happens. I'd be very interested in bringing in josh gordon. Especially over nikial harry. I understand the kill. Harry is only twenty four years old but he is just not looked like a competent. Nfl wide receiver. The patriots haven't done a lot to help him out but he hasn't been very good in the. Nfl doesn't create separation in any way not interested. I wasn't really that interested in him as a prospect. I am on the josh. Gordon train because i wanna see as many weapons as possible with patrick mahomes. Maybe we believe fifth round wide receiver. Cornell pal is the answer or mccoll's finally going to take a huge step forward on the outside which is out of position for him. But i'd like to see. I'd like to go to training camp and see josh gordon practicing with the chiefs and see what that looks like. Yeah i'm out on josh gordon of you should be i one jock. Laurie hawkins seed. And i hope he latches on somewhere in his super successful. It has nothing but the best moving forward. I just don't think that's going to be chiefs. The chiefs have a bunch of lottery tickets and at this point in his career makes me sad to say this. But that's what josh gordon is. Mikhael harry stinks. Like he's just a bad football player. So there's no reason for the chiefs to be interested in him if the chiefs are gonna go free agency route again. I don't think this guy significantly improves you. From what you already have. But the only guy. That's available that i would be interested in is dede westbrook again. I don't think that's any sort of significant upgrade. He's basically until we antonio. Calloway and you have antonio calloway already on your roster so i think what they have right now is probably barring some sort of trade or a surprise cut after camp what they're going to have going into the season and that is a little bit concerning because what you're looking at right now as tyreek hill which is great but then mccoll hardman damarcus robinson cornell powell byron pringle and then probably one of marcus camp garrick deeter antonio calloway or daria shepherd. One of those guys probably going to be the final roster spot where the wide receivers that just doesn't inspire a ton of confidence from me. The only guy that i feel good about his tyreek hill and then everybody else is a massive question mark in when i read earlier. This week from nate taylor of the athletes and i quote from the voluntary wait workouts in the teams mandatory minicamp mccoll hardman appears to be in position to have a breakout season as he is expected to have the role previously held by sammy watkins. That's terrifying for me. I i don't think he's a guy that profiles to play in that role sammy. Watkins was a prototypical x. Wide receiver where he can line up. On the line of scrimmage and beat man press coverage that is the opposite of what mccall hardman profiles as in fact the only guy on the team. Maybe you got two of them. That can do that. I think is cornell powell and byron pringle and i don't think those guys are starting level wide receivers at least not right now so i. I don't think they have that guy on the roster today. Listen i. I think as upset before that is something that is being overblown using the words terrified a mike that that feels a pitch strong. That feels a bit strong to use. Sorta josh gordon. And i i hope he hooks up with chip and joanna gaines down in waco. And maybe they can you know do some kind of work with him. Maybe he can help build some houses and work at magnolia farms. I don't i don't particularly well. I think they can help people. I think he got a better chance to his life getting on track them. Come in and play in the national football league. So i'd i'd rather josh gordon. Get to that point but manages i. I just.

"Got the chief's winning. Barely. Okay, listen, this game is basically a toss up. I'm only going with the Kansas City Chiefs because I like Patrick Mahomes. I think you he'll be able to do more if necessary at a at a moment Right now he's better than Tom Brady, which is Not saying a whole lot because Tom Brady is great in his own regard. It doesn't matter how old the guy is. So we can talk about experience, etcetera, and I could do a whole lot. I can sit here. And I can you know I can play games. I could tell you I could pick the Buccaneers and I could make a solid argument forever. I could make a solid argument for both teams. But I'm going to say the chief's barely let's say a fuel goal. But I think this game will be decided by a big play. Regardless of who wins. The phone lines open 855 to 1 to four. CBS. I wanna make sure I get everybody on Who is patiently waiting. We'll take a break. We'll talk to Brandon Copeland, linebacker here in the NFL last year played for the New England Patriots, Unfortunately, got hurt, and next hour you don't want to miss it. Emmitt Smith will join us. The general sport ratio here on CBS Sports Radio Matt from California, Matt Was won in Super Bowl 55. Let's go on, Jess, So I'm a huge fan. You know, I went to University of Missouri. I'm all over it been for years die hard. Is that we attend a 14 point blowout. And the reason I say that is because, listen, we're talking about the offensive line about who knows. What have you ever heard of a guy named Austin Raider? He's our starting center. He has a lot of a fax and last year's Super Bowl legal out nine pressures. The entire season, and I understand you're going up against bit of via and now the consume, but I'm taking him and then on top of that camp a day No one's talking about this. Tampa Bay has allowed the most kick return yards. In the NFL. If you watch the Washington game, the Tampa baby and agreed a game they were allowing yards all over the place. And now we got a guy named Byron Pringle, who's the best kick returner in football. So guess what. Dominant. It's too many weapons. Brady It takes two quarters to get going. Guess what? My home to swing it right out the gate challenge You manage. All right. Well, thank you. Thank you, Matt for calling from California. We got a lot of people on the line. I don't know. 10 to 14 points was a blowout. I didn't know. One man makes an offensive line. But I certainly appreciate your comment about special teams. It's not something that people generally focus on. And as we know, special teams can can most definitely Impact again, up and down all the time. Devante scolding from Alabama Devante you on CBS sports radio who wins the Super Bowl. Yeah. How you doing, man? Appreciate you taking my car, little use old man, to be honest. Updating. He's gonna win more than likely. Like you said. He just like passed my home. Just he just said that he didn't even at his prime. Yet. He just feel you know he's something different, you know. But you know more like, really. I really would love Antonio Brown to get a ring because you remind me so much of myself. But you know, dinner realistic man. He's got it, man. Damn Davant. That's only abroad. What part of Antonio Brown reminds you, are you His whole demeanor, man. You got a whole lot of money. Oh, well, I'm glad that's the That's the main fact that thank you. Devante for calling from Alabama. They are a whole lot of things with Antonio Brown. I would not want to be associated with And I hope he has a whole lot of money. I hope he does. You know, he gets paid That don't mean he got it. And he's calling from Detroit. Andy, your CBS Sports radio who you got in Super Bowl 55 8 year old buddy. I'm great. Go ahead, Andy. Okay. I'm so Yeah, I'm leaning on Tampa, just just based on the strength of the Chief's missing their offensive line. I mean, just a loser Fisher and your right tackle. That's that I have the feeling. Um, Patrick is going to be running around for his life. Things were even I don't can't city but just based on the strength of that line, missing key components e think it's almost set up camp for the wind man. Okay. Well, thank you so much. Andy for calling from Detroit. Yeah, we know about That offensive line. You think about some of the men? I don't even want to call them warm bodies. You think about some of those folks that that are missing? Yeah, you got Fisher out. Also Melly out. He's been going for a long time with his knees, basically three quarters of the season. Ah, shorts on the other side, the opposite tackle. His back has been acting up. ADO Grenades are dif. Remember this before we even got to the season He stayed in Canada. Toby in orderly, So they are yet offensive line. But if we want to say one thing Isn't Patrick Mahomes used to running for his life. Is not what Patrick Mahomes does. He runs for his life, and he still makes the place. He still gets the job done. Paul is calling from Washington D..

"Last second homes on the release, and Kelsey with grab his pressured out to the right and here's the first test we've seen of that. Perfecto in homes. He was running pretty good Woz, and he had pressure and all the sudden right before he goes out of bounds. Looks back to the inside finds Chelsea job back to the huddle. Little gingerly. Keep an eye on it. Holmes, quick toss to the right catches made good enough for a first down. And they're gonna market down at the 31 yard line. With forward progress to McColl hardened. So Andy Reid's smartly gets Hardman a touch after the month to get his head back into the action. He's a big part of this team. She's a big part of the offense and special teams. And really where they used quite a bit is in the run game on those jet sweeps. He's so explosive so fast so and to read definitely wants his head in the right space. Still early in this game and If you watch the Chiefs the last couple years a few years in the past for homes, no lead is too big for them to come back from. It is a first down from Kansas City at the 30 Yard line. Motion Man is Hardman from left to right. Snap. My Holmes looks to his right throws to Kelsey Soft spot there makes the catch of the 32 cuts up field along the sideline, and it will be enough for a first down picks up 11 yards. He got hit at the 40 by Molano employer. And I'll move the chains once again for Kansas City with 4 27 to play in this opening quarter. Let me interesting watching this game goes on in the first match Up wasn't Frasier did not blitz one time, which is the first time in an NFL game since 2016 amazing, really played soft coverage. Kept everything in front rush four. We'll see if he's got sprinklers in a little bit of blitz. In this game to get after the homes of the stick to the original recipe he had on that first match in Kansas City Number one passing offense of the NFL. Mahomes Quick passes dropped by Kelsey over the middle. Toss couldn't be handled in complete second intent. Capital One has no fees or minimums on checking and savings accounts. Kelsey would have been a big game but accept a second medium week six Kansas City ran the football and dominant fashion against Buffalo. The homes will throw it on second down catch made by Hill. He climbed the ladder to get it and then scoops up field for a first down picks up 11 yards into Buffalo territory. And he got tackled by Micah Hyde on the play, insisting so much off the flags and all that zone concept, and they fake it. The Edwards lair and well, it's such good presence because of playing zone and he just sneaks right behind. From a Deadman, the inside linebacker, Susie uncovers the home system. Hill had touchdowns and 11 of the 15 games he played in this season. Now he sets up behind the homes of the backfield. Holmes takes the snap pump fake throw and a diving attempt is hauled in. Kelsey. On the quick slant across the 35 for 16 yards at a first down coverage there from Levi Wallace. They're gonna clear out with Hardman. Marcus Robinson and then a crossing route just right behind the linebacker level. Safeties have to respect the deep stuff, so there's a nice scene right there. Ice hole. That's what Chelsea works in him and the homes are on target. Kelsey laid out forward. He now gets a breather on the Kansas City sideline 1416 yards receiving this season most ever for a tight end. "Much different team this time around with Mike Glennon starting today, the culture healthy, relatively speaking, No Anthony Costanzo along the offensive line. That is certainly a huge loss. But Indianapolis which seemed like it needed a lot of help got enough today. From the bills to knock off the Dolphins. 56 26, So AH Colts win puts them into the playoffs. That's got to David Shuster in Chicago. The Bears win and they're in today. And, of course, the Packers looking for the top seed in the NFC. Here's David. All right, Rich. We're just a minute and 15 seconds into the opening quarter. The bears at midfield facing a third and one getting great field position as the opening kick went out of bounds. There actually was a dispute on the play. But after Green Bay Packers through the challenge flag. It was overruled. They lose the time out in the process of the Bears just picked up the first down and they're in Green Bay territory. As you mentioned, the Bears need a win today likely to get into the playoffs. Green Bay with the wind today, like well would be the number one seed in the NFC in the first round playoff by Again. We're about two minutes into today's game, and there's no score. All right. Thank you very much, David, said the Kevin Casey in Charlotte right now, the Panthers host the Saints, who have designs on the top seed in the NFC. They have to win the Saints do tonight and like right now, and they've got is the ball in deep in Carolina Territory. Carolina with three and out hunted, the Saints have moved. They have a 1st and 10 from the Carolina Panthers can taste them Hill in at quarterback, and he will run the ball get five yards. So, with all the problems they've had at the running back position, New Orleans is gonna have to get creative and Don't think Drew Brees is gonna let off on the accelerator. But one thing we can tell you from that first series for Carolina. They're really missing Russell, Oakland at left tackle Teddy Bridgewater under siege or the majority of that serious, so 11 26 to go first quarter, No Score. Carolina and New Orleans. All right, And if you had Byron Pringle catching a touchdown pass from Chad Henny today You win the pool because it is now seven. Nothing chiefs over the Chargers early as the Chiefs have nowhere to go because they are locked in to the number one seed. So seven games in the books, eight games going on right now. Still playoff spots to be had all but well, one. I shouldn't say that all but one of the divisions have been clinched in the NFC and, of course, the Giants and now waiting on the results of tonight's matchup between Washington and the Eagles, and what is should be miserable Philadelphia in terms of weather. Chiefs hang onto perfect record thanks to last-minute comeback vs. Lions
"Let's start with the chiefs patch genuine this we can then Detroit. We gotTA GOTTA get into this trump to the fourth quarter undo to play. He's down by three four at the name. mahomes scrambles fifteen yards for the crucial first down later in the drive. Dr Daryl Williams punches it in from the won his second score of the day cheese. Take the four point lead one last shot for the Lions who played well yesterday yesterday but Matthew Stafford's hail. Mary is knocked down chiefs. Hold onto win thirty four thirty to remain undefeated undefeated can't even start with you. How were the chiefs able to rally for this win against Detroit. It starts with the back to back gold ago. Situations wasted where the chiefs defense was able to stand up and force turnovers yet crystals fumble recovery and you had to be shot Berlin fumble recovery which ended up being a touchdown. Everybody on the Detroit lines offense was asleep at the wheel. Nobody decided to finish the play. There wasn't a whistle blown ended up putting six on the board so that's where it starts for me but when you look at yesterday's game the Detroit Lyons had an opportunity to win that game they had an opportunity to take control of it because for the first half of that football game the lions defense played pretty well against the Kansas City chiefs offense. I mean you saw some of the things that Matt Patricia was doing some of the bracket coverages on Travis Kelsey. You'll Sammy Watkins a lot of men coverages to eliminate those open window throws. They tried to make it tough on Padma home so when you look at that defense they did their job. The Detroit lions offense didn't do their job and that's where it starts. You've got to be able to capitalize on those back back to back possessions with Golda. Go to stem the tide to put momentum in your favor and dictate the complexion of that second half. They didn't put the chiefs away when they had an opportunity tremendous point is for is Detroit's Defense and Matt Patricia Defensive Coordinator in Kansas City. I'm doing plan against Kansas City last couple years. You can believe he made a phone call in that first. Half Game Plan looked a lot like the first half Game Plan New England has had against Kansas City and the two times that they were able to hold Patty mahomes down amount so that right there that was very very good Detroit. I believe is a better football team that NFC north. I believe now might be the best division. F- F- Detroit is the worst team. Let's see Minnesota is going to do but tremendous tremendous playmaking by the defense I see I don't mind if you have a bad defense. If you're GONNA have a historic offense you gotta be either. Get to the quarterback or you got a bill to make plays force turnovers interceptions in fumbles and in this game those turnovers what were they were to save him with you. Give Patty mahomes just enough just like Aaron Rodgers in this prime if you give him just enough time on that clock they they are going to march down the field in those two minutes situations in score because you can't do enough things defensively if you give them that chance but the chiefs chiefs defense you gotta give them credit. They made just enough plays that the offense was able to add to be able to steal this win because the offense oddly was the part that was holding the chiefs back early in this game you mentioned the lions turnovers and those were critical turnovers in the most critical spots but the chiefs themselves fumbled the the ball four times and lost three of them. The chiefs had three fumbles lost throughout this football game that stymied their own drives and this for me. Detroit deserves a lot of credit for playing as well as they did holding that chiefs offense. I know they scored thirty four points but one hundred yard touchdown return. You'll the chiefs offense to twenty seven. That's about as much as you can. Ask Your defense do held them debt. Winnie for the first fifty nine and a half minutes until the touchdown at the end but on the chiefs side of things good teams lose this football game great teams find a way to win the Kansas. City chiefs didn't play well. They turn the ball over a bunch of times. Pat MOMS missed you. Were right about the coverage. I totally agree for the first time this this season the chiefs you could see. They really miss tyreek. Hill Damarcus Robinson didn't have a huge Game Sammy Watkins Nabet huge game. They could use tyreek Hill and Patrick. MOANS missed some early passes asses were guys were open but in the ball back two and a half minutes left down three even when they get to a fourth and eight. Patrick Mahomes sees the right play way to make goes and runs and makes it is similar last year against Baltimore in a game. The chiefs didn't play well and Patty didn't play great for the nine that when he threw a pass tyrod kill this this when he ran himself the most critical play after that and the drive the one that put them inside the five yard line he finds Byron Pringle for his second career catch which one of eight people to catch passes Kansas City right now. They're playing their opponent every week and they're playing the Patriots record like there's there's two teams the league that are foreign oh Kansas City in New England and if you you give away a game like this if we do think the pats are going to be fourteen into and we know how important in theory homefield event could be then all of a sudden your plan from behind the eight ball so despite not playing a great game despite Patrick Mahomes for only the fourth time in his career not throwing a touchdown pass the chiefs found a way to win against previously undefeated team on the road in Detroit Kenny the same way the Patriots were able to expose their the the rams a little bit last year. Is there something to the fact that the lines did the same with the chiefs yesterday sort of put out there a game plan of how to do it and how to get to the chiefs. I mean they he did keep Patrick Mahomes from scoring a touchdown Jimmy. It's a Copycat League and Pat Mahomes was working on a street of fourteen consecutive games where he had two touchdowns or more thrown. I mean he's one shy of Peyton Manning's all time record at some point. Pat Mahomes is going to clips that record but when you start talking about the Kansas City chiefs offense. It's not a matter of if it's just a matter of win and so when you look at twenty three games sample size that we have as pat mahomes being the starting quarterback in that offense you recognize. You're not going to win a game against them. Twenty one seventeen you're going to have to to be able to score some points and that's why you have a razor thin margin of error when it comes to red zone possessions and that's why I go back to those two possessions that the Lions had in the beginning of the second half Accu- have to be able to capitalize on those plays if you don't eventually Kansas City is going to make the requisite plays to be able to win the game now as far as the game plan that Matt Patricia employed. I think it's good for the Kansas City chiefs offense to struggle like this against that game plan so you're young quarterback develops answers when he sees those looks later in the season and as we get to the
