"So Texas and MB Tennessee on Tuesday night to improve the 13 and two in the SEC. There is nobody in this country that has turned a season around quite like buzz Williams has this season. Texans started 6 and 5 with losses to wafford and Murray state, both of which are outside of the top 200 of the net. Since then, the eggs are 15 and two. Beat Tennessee, beat Arkansas, beat Missouri twice, auburn twice, make sense of this Texas a and M season dead leg. Just coming on strong late. Buzz Williams, the track and well at this point. And they've been able to conference that certainly didn't look like they were heading to the NCAA tournament, not even the NIT and at one point. But it's going to be and I'm going to be the two seed most likely will be the two seed in the SEC tournament. It is one game behind Alabama. It's not getting caught for the two seats. Three games clear and has performed well enough at this point where yeah, it's done well. It's a good if you want actual bare bones statistics stuff with this. A and M makes more free throws per game about 19 than anyone in the country. And it attempts the second most per game around 25, 25 per contest. So it's good at getting to the line. We saw that again, if you can speak to the actual game, it was rough, you know, 68, 63, it took two and a half hours. We had 24, 34, 42,000 this. Wait, wait, Taylor, I believe if I remember from doing the highlight last night, was 16th of 17 from the free throw line. Let me bring this up here. You did go, yeah, he was 16 to 17. He had 25 points. What's the most important player on the floor? Had four steals as well. And there were like 27 reviews. Just, you know, not a great watch. What can you say? But a and M, now having just lost twice since December 20th and gotten it done in SEC play. It's going to, it's going to go to the tournament. It's not a lock, but it's going there. At this point, the remaining schedules at Mississippi at oldness will finish out at home against Alabama in College Station to wrap up the regular season schedule before SEC play. A and M is only two tournaments since 2011. And twice under Bill Kennedy and both of those runs wound up with sweet 16 appearances there. So this is not a program that we see in the bracket every single season. It did have, it did have a good run under turgid. And before Billy Gillespie got the Kentucky job, of course, house to AC law the fourth podcast favorite for sure. But this is buzz Williams is first go of it. They actually had 13, they tie their program record for SEC wins. They're all time record back in the Southwest conference days. They won 14 a couple of times. So they're poised to at minimum match their program best for most conference wins in a season. And it's not a spectacular team. They don't jump off the screen, but they get it done at both ends and buzz Williams is doing eventually. It's taken until you're four and they just narrowly missed last season, but he's doing what he came to do when he left Virginia tech to go back to a and M and that was a telegraphed coaching move if ever there was one. He brought Virginia Texas three straight tournaments, then he wanted to reboot and start anew now. They're going to be dancing in the field. I don't know what seed they'll be because their resume is interesting if they take a couple of weird losses. They'll be actually up for debate, but hard for me to see this team playing its way out of the field of 68. Yeah, this is what buzz does, or at least this is what buzz has done at his past two jobs. Like take over a bad situation at Virginia tech, make it good. Take over a bad situation at a and M. Now he's made it good. And like you said, really made a good last season. They got off to a rough start, but then played well in a pretty significant segment of the SEC. Put themselves in a position to get an at large bid. They just found themselves ultimately on the wrong side of the bubble. I mentioned on Sunday's episode that I didn't have Texas a and M ranked. And the reason is because the entire body of work is not top 26 in the country. It's just not. It's why as recently as this weekend, like Jerry palm had them in last four in. Mid crack that top 25 though, I thought that might happen. Number 25 in the 8 people. Well, I jumped them up into their this morning. And the reason is because at some point and I feel like two months is a pretty good point. You just have to recognize what this team is and not totally disregard what happened in November and early December, but place everything in proper context. Because like I said, takes in him started 6 and 5. Lost a whopper Murray state lost to a whatever Colorado team. And in that stretch, I don't know if you know this. Bart torberg dot com, you can sort the data from like one date to the next. How are you doing with that turning cast spot over there, by the way? I don't have what Tony cast yet. All right, yeah. Give me a give me a minute. All right? I can't put too much on my plate. All at once. Okay. Fair enough. Right now I'm just strictly, I'm just sorting data. One day to the next. So if you take that 11 game stretch to start the season, texting them 6 and 5, ranked 90th in the country at orbit. Since then, a and M is 15 and two. And if you run the data from the day after the loss to wofford, which is December 21st, if you run the data from that day to this day, it's two months worth of basketball. Text items in 6 best team in the country. Here's the rankings over the past two months according to bar Torrey dot com. Number one, Alabama, number two Houston. Number three Purdue number four saint Mary's number 5 UCLA and number 6 tech CNN. So Kansas isn't in that, huh? Kansas is not in that. So I moved Texas a and M, I jumped them from unranked all the way up to number 18 in the top 25 and one because yeah, the entire body of work isn't the 18th best in the country. That's why Tex a and M probably wouldn't be a top 5 seed in the NCAA tournament right now. But over the past two months, this has been one of the 6 best certainly you can safely say top ten teams in the country and at some point I've got to get a pretty good number next to their name. I did that this morning. All right, so big picture. Before we scoot around the other parts of the conference, how much confidence do you have though? Blindly speaking, if we started this tournament tomorrow and a and M was on the ten line, like would you have much confidence in picking them to be the 7th seed? It's a good story in that they're getting there. Again, they're really good on the offensive boards to get to the foul line a ton, but I've watched a few, I've watched, I've probably seen the unemployed 5, 6 times this season. I don't know. They're a solid team, but I almost feel like it's an indictment on the SEC. A little bit, that this is the team that is clear in a way in second place in the conference.

"I just don't agree with any of that. And so I had a question about Burton. I mean, how do we know if that was a female or not? I mean, we got somebody on the Supreme Court that can't define a female. So how are we going to figure out if that was a female or not? Do we know? Well, I think we know pretty well. Regardless of what your friend or the Supreme Court has to say. Davis in South Carolina, hello, Dave. Hey Paul, how you doing? We are doing well. Thank you. Hey, big time, Tennessee fan, love the game, love the outcome, legend. He can take that shank and shove it where you know what, but I've been since he found for a long time and like the previous caller said, January last year, we didn't have a coach. We didn't have a athletic director and players were jumping through the portal. And he is happy to turn this thing around. And all these Alabama fans complaining about Nick Saban. I mean, who else has done what he's done in about a ten year span? I remember, I'm old enough to remember when Tennessee beat Alabama 7 years in a row, the Mike dubose and the Mike Shula days. And they better be thanking the lucky stars man still got good health and he's able to play our coach and bring in the talent that they got because they could very well be in our situation in a few years from now when he finally steps down. Dave, that's well said, and I think we do forget and every time I'm in Knoxville, it's worth remembering how dire and I think that was part of the conversation we had on Friday afternoon was Dundee ploughman, the Chancellor because she was the one in the middle of that. She had to make the call to replace a legend and unceremoniously fire a scoundrel. And she did that. And the school is a lot better off as a result. We'll take a short break. We have two hours to go. Thank you for listening to the Paul fine bomb show podcast. The Paul fine bomb show airs weekdays on the SEC network beginning at three eastern.

"A different conversation with everybody. It's different. And then there's metrics throughout the year. Yeah. Hey, this is where you're at. Remember, we were talking about this. This is your growth. Almost like it's a stock market. You want to be trending in the right direction. Some of those things that he just said, if you talk about offensive rebound percentage in high major competition, he's one of the best in the country. What does he need to get better at? It's all of those things that he just said. When he said Tom with buzz, he was talking about shooting with buzz. He does a shooting session every week with me and we're working on those things. So it's just it's how can we help? His game and how can we help each person's game, but then collectively, because each person has improved, then the system is better because everybody's improved. I will say one thing I'll add this. You set a coach. We're going to be voting for this guy for some day. I'm going to be working for him. That's why the first question. Let Henry. I'm going to send him my resume. I let Henry actually. It's a subliminal remember. Trying to collect Kendrick. You remember? And then if he forgets, I know his mom and dad want to mister and miss Coleman. Now, y'all remember. That's exactly right. Every time we talk to you, there's some philosophical something that's too much. It just means I'll be up an extra couple hours trying to the one thing I wanted to pass. Do you think that fine bomb is present for SEC football media days? Well, I mean, I'm going to let you ask him if you want because we're going to send it right back. I think he's present for football media days because I watch it. I read every article, the print media writes. I watch every tweet and now it's basketball media day and he acts like he's a basketball guy and he's not here. Let's do it. Why don't you do this? You send it back to Paul. Paul thinks, I know you were ill prepared for today because you knew that dari and pat were doing all of your work. So that percentage of your check from October the 19th should go to those guys. It's all yours fault. You make the NCAA tournament next year. I'll be wherever you are a year from today. Great response, ball, thank you. Thank you. Buzz William. Always great to see him. And we are heading to the break. We'll be right back. Todd thought it would be secure to jog in the cheetah Savannah. Todd believed the big cat repellent he bought online was reliable. And now Todd is trying to be faster than this cheetah that can run 80 mph. But the good news is, Todd has AT&T 5G, it is fast, reliable, and secure, and he learned the best thing to do is stop running. And toss her the backpack with the beef stew. AT&T 5G, fast, reliable, secure. It's not complicated. 5G requires compatible plan and device 5G may not be available in your area. See ATT dot com slash 5G for you for details.

"To be Greg McDermott didn't I? Sorry, Greg. There's a train. There's a train. All right, so we've got Neptune on top now. Then you've got Mike Woodson too old. You got buzz Williams. Buzz Williams, I would not put it past him to successfully figure out how to concoct some sort of poison on this island and wind up winning the whole day. Matt, what do you think buzz Williams reaction would be if Greg sankey called him and said, hey man, did you see what the wack is going to do with their conference standings? We're going to implement that next season. How do you feel about it? What do you think is reaction? He'd type up a 317 page manifesto about why it should or shouldn't happen. That's what would happen there. Buzz Williams, give me a buzz, and then juwan Howard forget about it, it's over. Juwan Howard, juwan Howard Dana Altman is the biggest mismatch. The Oregon's got 20 on GP's list here. And then you got Joan Howard is Wisconsin on this, by the way. It's not. We're not getting to Wisconsin. NATO's juwan Howard, the whole time. Juwan, Howard Matt painter, juwan Howard, juwan Howard Anthony grant. I got to take Howard on size purely Chris holtman, you don't have a shot, Tom izzo, sorry, and then say, yeah, Juan Howard wins. Do you want an hour to the winner? That was my conclusion as well. You gave Eric mussman way more run than I would have, but juwan Howard was my winner as well. It's chew on. Respected. Not Alex 98 asks if GP couldn't use Twitter for two weeks, what would he do? He would spend all day on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. Now, if you take away his ability to check social media, it's that disaster. He's probably trying to play 36 holes instead of 18. He's doing some dad duty with the kids, then eating up minimum four hours, binge watching shows. But this is a question for GP. He's just not here to answer it. If he could not use social media for two whole weeks, I'd love to see it. I actually think it would be great for him. Got to get off, got to get off the machine there. I don't know. What are your thoughts? It's great. I love getting away from social media. Gary seems a little too ADHD though, so hopefully he would channel that energy towards something constructive and not destructive. But the great dichotomy with one Gary parish is that wonderful due to socialize with great storyteller as listeners of this podcast well-known. But it's either he's telling a great story or he's staring right into that phone in the glare, it's just like bouncing right off that face right off this glasses. It's like one or the other. He's either holding court or everyone else is talking and he's there scrolling through a phone. Come on GP. Jared fields asks, I listen for the extortion advice. I want to know what the most illegal thing is you'd be willing to do for 5 million. You know what? Let's put a pin in this one and save this purely for parish. And unless you want to answer a cop. Do you want to answer this? I have no burning desire to answer it and I agree, Gary, Gary's answer would be better than what I would say. Apparently, no, I mean, Paris just seems like a guy exceedingly willing to state on the record for posterity to things he would be willing to do to break the law in order to get money. That's just not me. That's not my lane. It's not my bag. It's a JP question. Jared fields find us again on the next mailbag episode when Paris is going to be on, bring that question back because I know he's got a laundry list of stuff. Okay, Josh, ask vig asks. And each of your opinions, who will be the biggest surprise this year and why. Now, surprise could be surprised for the good of the bad. I'm actually going to tee up cob here first. If you got one right, if you don't, I'll go, but if figure I'll give you, first thing that came to mind and not in a sense of, oh, look out for them to make a final four run. This isn't going to be a Brad Stevens peak butler team. But I think that modest first butler team could be surprisingly better than the last few butler teams have been. Manny Bates, if he can regain the form he had as a rim protector at NC state, I think that he will instantly make that butler defense pretty respectable and pretty good. Then they add Eric hunter. It was a big piece of Purdue's success over the last few years. And butler stood out to me as one of the big winners from the portal. So I think butler with that mod on the sideline in year one could be at least in the mix fighting for an NCAA tournament bid mid to late February. Teams under first year coaches, I feel like tend to fall off around that point, but even being in that conversation would be a nice surprise for butler program that struggled as of late. Oh, I'll go two teams each way. And again, like I haven't, I haven't done the whole deep dive yet, but it feels like I would say, I would say Tennessee is getting a lot of run to be a top ten level kind of team, not that they won't be good. Sorry cops, I already bring it up. It's your fault. But if you told me they just drifted and we're outside the top 20 outside of the top 25, I believe it. But I tell you a team that's getting some buzz and coaching ranks over its potential.

"Last summer, when I told you that Jim and I had a couple of conversations private conversations. He'll confirm that one of the things I tried to advise him was to not take the show quite so serious. You know what I mean? And so when the 11 year old kid called a while ago, I swear I was in there listening going, please, Jim, don't call in. Please don't call in. And then you go, let's go to Jim. That's it. But I'm glad he did call in because flagrant intercourse. I don't think, like you said, I don't think that was a tournament was ever used on the show. Ew. I thought, he used the wrong word, but I looked up the term flagrant and per Jim immoral offense, obviously offensive, I think the word fits with him, so once again, he once again, while he's the goat. And speaking of the goat, I hadn't talked to you since the final four played out, correct? That is correct, yes. I haven't given my close to the champ and I'll talk about the snake oil salesman in just a minute. But this vote was taken on Twitter. And my side of the bracket was great. I mean, there was no. Legit force. I'm concerned, but are you aware that Jim and Iron Man have about 800 Twitter followers and legend has 8000? I am not aware of that. No. And I know squirrel, this sounds like plausible deniability, but I to this day, I don't know how the vote the votes were tabulated. That was the guys in the other room. It don't matter. It's all in fun. But I just wanted to point out that, you know, for a cat that only won by a couple hundred votes, if he had 6000 more Twitter followers, it seemed like he could have done a little bit better than he did, but that's just me. But now let me just close out by saying a couple of good things about ledge. When it comes to jock sniffing, there's no parallel and for a guy who the guy knows a lot about a lot of different sports, considered he never played any. Thank you for taking my call aloha. Thank you Ronald is up next in Texas, a hell of Ronald. Hello, Paul. Good afternoon. First time listener. First time caller in the long, long time listener. Thank you. I just want to say gig em buzz. And I just have one comment I wanted to say about your program, I wish that you would stop giving backdoor number, phone numbers to all those haggle to stupid, loud mouth, picks that come on your show, mostly from Alabama. Yeah, I hear you, but it's probably too late for that since I already have the number. Unless we changed it, which we could. Well, why don't you change it? Yeah, I think we're capable of a pretty big corporation. Fortune 500 and all that. I bet we're capable of getting a new number. Yeah. And tell Ryan, asking what that baseball score was yesterday. 12 to 9. Who played yesterday? A and M and Texas. Oh, okay, I missed a missed out. Well, I'm glad to hear. Good to hear from you. Thank you very, very much. Rick is up next in Georgia. Hey, Rick. Hey, Paul. My call was triggered by your conversation with the 11 year old and enough Polanco. Right. And my wife and I want your program a lot and we both think highly of you respect you and you put out good facts. But there are times when we're watching it. And because of some of the things they're said, the words are used and the violent nature that they're given, I feel uncomfortable. Grandchildren. And because I never know what's going to come through the TV set. I wouldn't even have your program on out there. I mean, there's no way in the world that I would speak in the presence of anybody else's family, their wife, their mother, their children, their grandchildren, the way that some of the callers on the program do. I hope that they don't really think about what they're saying. I really do. And I thought about what does that amount 11 year old? Branch child or even child. And they're hearing that, and they're picking up on ideas, and fortunately, this one is saying, I don't like this ideas. But there's some that will. So anyway, I just want to tell you, I hadn't planned on calling you today, but that really got me thinking. And I do appreciate you program. And I hope it stays on for a long time. Thank you, Rick. I appreciate what you said and I understand the criticism and it's fair. I have family members who sometimes wonder what we do here. I agree. We're adults and sometimes. The devil in my brain that's still remains a teenager gets carried away with the conversation. But I also think this is a broad based show that I'm proud of the program. There are times when I cringe, but on the other hand, I'm a big believer in letting people express themselves. This is we're talking about a lot of conflict here in sports, and sometimes it carries over. And I know that that sounds like an excuse. It's not. It's reality. And I encourage people to make the best judgment that they can. We have a lot of young kids calling and listening and I wouldn't tell you what to do with your own children or grandchildren, but I appreciate those who pay attention to know that most of what we do here has good intentions. Let's continue a dentist in Oregon, hello Dennis. Hi, I just was talking to people of ESPN. I guess you may be aware of what the Texas LongHorn people call the aggies. Oh yeah, yeah, I have heard that. You learned it, yeah. I hate to be redundant, but you just had a couple of calls about the squirrel legend and Jim and all that. When have you got to get rid of this moron? Your show on the whole is important. And very, very good to look at. You have good guests, good callers. But I don't understand why those people are wrong. I do like to listen to him. Are you there? Yeah, I mean, Dennis, I think for the most part, we handle, we check all the boxes here, but I would say those callers come under the heading of entertainment. You may not find it entertaining. But it is, they are a microcosm, however, of fans and fandom. Fans get carried away. We forget our troubles. And I think this show helps that. And I find I love sports, obviously..

"Moron the aggies quest for the NIT tomorrow night on SEC now. And this time tomorrow, coach buzz Williams will be pulling into the garden getting ready for the championship of the NIT. He joins us now. Coach, congratulations. It's been quite a quite a lot has happened since we last saw you down in Tampa. Good afternoon and how are you? It's good to see you. I'm doing great. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to be with you again. Well, let's talk about this experience and what it has meant to your young players and your program. Paul, we're one of the younger teams in the country, I think we were 277 as far as one of the youngest teams with even less minutes played together and so that was easy to see early on during the season, I think the experience over the last three weeks, it's hard to quantify. Obviously it's been a lot of fun and we've had experiences that you can only get in postseason, but for our guys to be able to have these reps of practice of playing with this level of exposure with what's at stake, obviously the games, the practices, the film session. I think all of those things there will be residual value going forward. So we're very thankful for that. I know, I know it's easy to talk about the experience in New York, I'm assuming some of your players, maybe very few had ever been there. What has that been like just a cultural aspect of being at the epicenter of really the whole world? We have one player on our team from queens, who's a sophomore in college, and this has been very gratifying for him to be able to come home and play in front of his family and friends. We traveled on Sunday, obviously we played last night, and I wanted our guys to, just like you said, I wanted them to get some New York pizza, I wanted them to see a Broadway show, even though they probably would have chosen to spend their time in a different way. Monday was a full work day in regards to practice and preparing for last night's game. And then to be able to be off today, not playing a game yet preparing for another game. It's been great. And I think that just to be able to be around New York, be able to see Broadway, be able to play at the garden, go to The Lion King on Sunday, Sunday evening, all of those things I think are things that for the most part, not even just our players, but even our staff have never had an opportunity to do. So it's been really cool to be able to do it together. Talking to coach buzz Williams. Coach, I don't want to go too far back, but there was a tremendous amount of conversation about number one, a and M and not getting in and second, and maybe even more important. Your reaction, a lot of praise for you from your fellow coaches and the SEC and your fans. And there's always those pockets of criticism. But as you reflect back, you feel comfortable in your very public and emotional expression of not getting in the tournament and why? Yeah, you know, Paul, I think that I saw you for the second time in Tampa on that Friday afternoon, obviously we had just won. We played again on Saturday and one and then played in the championship game on Sunday. Probably foolish of me to think that what we were doing that particular week was going to have the weight that I thought that it would. In sincerity, I thought it was because of who we were playing. And so we played on Sunday, went back to the hotel, showered, put all of our stuff on the bus and then watched the selection show from the hotel Sunday evening. And I've been a head coach for 15 years. I think I've been to the NCAA tournament 8 times, obviously the COVID year they didn't have it. I've never had a selection show in your name not been called. And when the last bracket came up and we weren't invited in truth, Paul, I didn't know what to say. So I just said, hey guys, get on the bus. And so we got on the bus. We went to the airport. We flew home. We got on the bus. We went back to the facility. And you could have heard a pin drop the entire 5 and a half hours of travel. And from the time I got home Sunday at midnight, until Tuesday at 3 o'clock. I just wanted to be as objective as possible. And studying why did this not happen? And I understand because of my 28 years in college, I know there's a lot of things that are unseen and I understand that I'm not everybody's favorite person, but the one thing that I wanted to do was just try to learn from it so that I could explain to our kids. And most importantly, I could explain to their families. Because in the very end, regardless of public outcry or others not invested in our program, at the end of the day, as a leader, I have to be committed to my words, prior to their arrival and to the investment that I've made in their lives. And they look to me to have an answer and I didn't have an answer. And so I spent whatever amount of time it was trying to figure it out. Not because of what Twitter would say, not because of the people that call your show, not because of the fans that other SEC institutions know I'm trying to figure it out for our guys. I'm trying to figure it out for their parents. We didn't get in and as stoically as I could. I wasn't trying to make it about me. I wasn't trying to say, look at this team, why didn't we get in versus that team? No, I was just talking about what we had done. And I've learned a lot from that. I think our kids learned a lot from that. At the end of the day, Paul, I wanted to do what was right by our program and the people that are in our program. And at some point, there will be another coach at Texas a and M and there'll be a lot of other players sometimes in the beginning. But while I'm here, I want everybody to know that who is in the program, I'm going to stand up for and fight for. And so obviously that was almost three weeks ago now and so many things have transpired and we can't console that we weren't in, but we can learn on how we can be better and what we can do and everybody talks about the last the 8 games we lost. I didn't know that if you lost them together, that mattered. I didn't know if you won ten out of 12 to close the regular season that that didn't matter. That's for other people to say it was just for me to learn from. And so we're not trying to win NIT, so we can prove the committee wrong. Our players don't even know there's a committee. They don't even know who's on the committee. We're trying to win because we want to continue to be together to play together to be the best we can be. And so we're thankful that we're still playing. Well, coach, I know how much this experience has meant to you and your program and we wish you all of the best tomorrow night and certainly look forward to seeing and talking to you again very, very soon. Enjoy the moment and all the very best. Congratulations. Thank you so much. I appreciate the opportunity. Take care. You bet, coach buzz Williams, always gracious with his time and what a what a poignant message he just delivered. So much more I really wanted to talk to him about, but I was afraid to step on the brilliance of what he had to say. We will take a break, more of your phone calls.

"Can you repeat that one more time? Yeah, what is your age? How old are you? 11. 11. Okay, wonderful. Good to have you on Peyton. Thank you. Okay, now that we've established how old you are, what may we help you with Peyton? First of all, legend is not the best caller. Okay. Period. I'm in is. I'm in is. Okay. Jim is hateful. Jim is hateful? Correct. Well, now hold on a second. Peyton, you're 11 years old. Why would you say a man like Jim is hateful? Because I hear his hate with my dad. Oh, okay. And you know, at 11, you probably shouldn't be hearing stuff like that, should you? No, sir. All right, you should be hearing positivity, encouragement. I hear him spewing hey every day. Right. Well, this is troublesome. This is very troubling. And we're in Alabama do you live? Silica. So a cog or sure. That's just south of Birmingham. Yes. Yes. Amen is the best. I managed. Well, Peyton, thank you very much. You take care of yourself and we'll try to keep the hate to a minimum, okay? You two, thank you for taking my call. Thank you very much. Everybody's like, what everybody in silica? Wow. Back to back calls talking about Jim from Tuscaloosa. And both of them are idiots. I'm sorry to call that kid. I don't know if he's an idiot and not his gaze an idiot. Paul, you know, here we go. I get confidence from the gallery today, and all I do is come in with these line alive, what do you call it kind of crap? I mean, I'm not going to put up with these. You know, I'm not even going to watch what I say, but number one, I don't have a grandson, Paul. I'm not even hardly old enough to have a grant, but I don't have a grandson. I don't even have a son at moron. All they're doing is trying to by the way, Jim, just for the record, I mean, I know some 40 year olds who have grandchildren, well, I don't care, I don't have any kind of grandchildren or children, I don't. I absolutely do not. That guy's a liar, but he's just trying to start off a bunch of crap, and of course the kid was put up to that by his day and he's an idiot. Your morality, but are you absolutely positive? You don't have any grandchildren out there? I'm pretty positive. I mean, I've never been married, and I don't have a grandchild. Okay. Well, that's fair. Jim, and I do have intercourse with women. I didn't quite you should know by now. I didn't flagrantly have intercourse with women, like some of these people probably do. No, I don't have a grandchild followers. Can you accept my damn, well, this gets me really hot, Paul. This really gets me hot. When you be outraged by that? I would be, Jim, I can't tell you how upset I would be if somebody called from eastern. Then why don't you shut them down? I'm not going to give any camp. You had it going pretty good. I was in a good mood early today when things were going like they should go, but when you got these idiots calling our man, by the way, have you noticed the flack that legion is getting today? I mean, he's finally getting the deep black he deserves. Yeah. That's all I got, Paul. I'm sick of this crap. But anyway, I don't have a grandchild. And I man is an idiot to let kids do who's been schooled by his idiotic daddy. Thank you very much. Thank you. Guys, jamari and Brian's help me. I'm going to try to get the quote correctly, okay? Jim said, I have never, I have never flagrantly had intercourse with anyone to have created a grandchild, right? Like some call, I have never flagrantly had intercourse with anyone like some callers do. I will say this, and as a host of the show, what you want is a good dialog. You want to try to learn something. We have learned a lot about Jim right there. We did not know that. We didn't know whether Jim had ever been married. He said he hadn't, right? We know he's never had any children or grandchildren because of what I just got through saying. I won't repeat it. And that is a, that is a tipping point in the history of this program right there. We learn more about Jim, than I think we have ever learned before. And he also slammed legend, who is the next caller. This is not staged. I promise you. We went from a WWE wrestler to what we just had right there. Good afternoon, legend. Whoo. And I will kick that WWE pansies ass. I promise you. If I was that WrestleMania, I did a king. Live bombs like WrestleMania, baby. Hey Paul, dear Jim 500 calls to me over three months time. He told me he ain't been with a woman. It's 20 years. That news grandson. That can't be it. He did say he went to the Alabama's man clinic though and they gave him some medicine and didn't work, you know. This show and you've been a fan for a while and a major part of it. I don't think the term intercourse has ever been mentioned before. It ain't never been mentioned in Jim's house. I mean, I don't want to act like I'm not familiar with that. But that is a phrase you don't hear a lot anymore. I mean, most of us have other vernacular for that phrase. Yeah, the jails like Jim both this, you can't get it up. I mean, come on. You can't do it. They can't do it. They probably got 11 year old tapes on me. I got the next generation. It's our own page 54 psycho magazine. Y'all can read about it. It's psycho mania. Psycho baby, right here. And then say to put out the Jim will call four times a day at four to one. I put a grand on it, so all we got is one more call. So maybe I can provoke that woman hating psycho, self indulgence. The car one more time. But don't hate the player, hate the game..

"Podcast. Welcome back. We are moving on, buzz Williams, joining us shortly, to let continue and talk to Ryan in Texas, a hello, Ryan. Hello, how you doing? Very well. Thank you. This is my first time calling. I'm calling about that guy. Yeah, sure. That's why I used to spend on what I'm going to do with him because the biggest mind bags and all the football college you think so, huh? I think so, I'm going to take this LongHorn fan in Georgia bulldog fan and every time it was in the B 12, he just cried the whole time. That's why they left. Okay. Well, thank you for calling. Cheryl is up next in South Carolina. Hello, Cheryl. Hey, Paul. How are you? Very well. Thank you. Really enjoy your show, but I'm calling about a little correction if you don't mind. Of course. My lady gamecocks played Connecticut this year and beat Connecticut in Atlantis and a preseason tournament. Oh, okay. I did not realize that. I knew they were supposed to play in Colombia. That's correct, but they had to, I guess, can't fold that particular game, but just wanted you to know. Well, that we won. So I don't know how we're going to do in the tournament, but we did be Connecticut. Well, I am glad to have been corrected. That was probably in November when or December when I wasn't paying attention. It was. The Ori's I knew about the other game is that we had Don staley on that week, and I think some games had to be moved around and they had an SEC game, I believe, against old miss and they did not want to move that game or cancel it so they told Gino to hit the pavement. Let's check in next with Henry in Arkansas. Hello, Henry. Hey, Paul. Good luck to lady gamecocks. Sure. The guy in Texas, Joe. I think what his problem is, he's just been in Texas too long. He needs to come up to northwest Arkansas like so many of us fell Texans and loosen up a little bit and let go of those conspiracy theories. They do, you know, that Texas Texas a and M thing is going to be so great for the SEC, don't you think? Oh, God, yeah. Looking forward to a big time. I mean, I know everyone thinks they're rivalry is better than the next guys, but that is a seriously demented rivalry. Yeah. Joe there in opposition to the callers and I want Juan Paul. Those calls need to remember the advice of the old roadhog from years ago. Don't smoke dope when you're high. You don't get no higher just lower on dope. I wish you had told me many years ago. I would have helped my life a lot better. I'd have better memory right now. I hear you, man. My question, Paul, is if his perceived disdain is authentic, how do you think Iron Man may be handling this barrage of phone calls from Jim? Or perhaps I man himself will address that subject in the coming year. I've answered pretty cool character. Oh, absolutely. He never lets anything get in the way of his call. And his calls are always very predictable, too. They're either going to criticize gym or criticize Alabama Nick Saban. There's very little deviation. Yes. Will you have a good day, Paul fine? Thank you, Henry. Always great to hear from you. Tim is up next in an Oxford hello, Tim. Hello? Hi, how are you? Good, how are you? Very well. How are you Paul? We're doing great. Thank you. I'm Jim. Grandson. Hold on a second. You said you're calling you said you were Jim from Tuscaloosa's grandson. My name is Tim. I didn't know, I mean, I guess there's a lot about Jim. I don't know, but I didn't know he had a grandson. Well, let's just say, Paul, it may or might not be a stage name. So do you know him? I do not, but I do enjoy his calls thoroughly. Because I know that sounded like a silly question. Do you know your grandfather, but some people don't? No, I know. I was just, yeah, it's my stage name, but I do have a serious question. Okay. Do you think that lane kiffin can carry this transfer portal success year after year? And eventually build a national championship caliber team. Now that's what we call Tim, who's the fake grandson of Jim from Tuscaloosa, a loaded question. If I say anything other than yes, I get blowback, right? I'll do it, yeah? Yeah. So essentially, if I answer in the affirmative, I'm saying lane kiffin will win a national championship. And if I answer in the negative, I'm saying, I don't think he can win a national championship in Oxford. You know, yeah, because I think, you know, personally, the transfer portal is the best way to go for being an Oxford and whatnot. He's not going to pull the top recruits. But I mean, if he keeps it up, I personally believe they could. But I would like to know Jim from Tuscaloosa's input on this situation. So I think they're going to be vain this year. I think you're all running off there. I think they had a chance last year. This will be interesting. This game, of course, is in Oxford. They have a better chance. Good to hear from you. Peyton is up next. In Alabama, hello Peyton. Hello. Hi, how are how old are you,.

"On the edge. You will happen, of course, Saturday and Sunday, you can also see it on peacock AJ, great to have you on, and I'm sure this is all had for you being part of WrestleMania. It's great to have you here. And how are you? I'm doing great, man. Excited about WrestleMania. Yeah, I looked out. I did realize this was 38. I mean, you were just a kid when this thing started, but what is it like being part of Russell mania, which is a global event? It's unbelievable to be honest with you. My first one was in Texas. And AT&T Stadium. So having your first WrestleMania in front of a sea of people literally, I looked out as I walked down the aisle and it was just an unbelievable experience. But there's nothing like him, man. This is what you work your whole life or is it be a part of something like WrestleMania? I mean, I know that when you've done it for a long time at the very highest level, I mean, you're sure you're nervous. There are butterflies, but when you know this is the biggest stage, you're one of the featured events. Does it feel a little bit different as you're walking out there? I mean, I guess you get even more excited once you see the fans and they're going crazy. It's explainable experience. It's one of those that you just have to be a part of to understand what the performers in WWE are trying to explain. It's impossible. I mean, I know it's also different that you're traveling all the time, but this is a little bit different because this is the Super Bowl of the sport in terms of obligations. Other than stuff like this that you're doing, once you get out there, I mean, what is your day like the day of the event? The day of the event, hopefully, although publicity is done and the signings are done. So the day of the event, you're just waiting. Usually get to the video around one or two. Make sure you got everything together. WrestleMania 20 starts around 7. I do believe, I could be wrong on that. But it's kind of like that hurry up and wait. You're anxious to get in The Rain and you want to experience everything there is about WrestleMania because not everybody gets that opportunity. It's just a big day that hopefully they just let you relax to look through your match. I would think so. We're talking A.J. Styles part of the WrestleMania this weekend. One of the featured events AJ, I know that you're a fan of all things in the state of Georgia and what a year it's been with the braves, obviously, and the university of Georgia. So where were you about 11 weeks ago when the dogs were up in Indianapolis, beating Alabama of all teams to win the national championship? I was at Monday Night Raw. I got back in time after the show was over enough time to watch the ending of the game and literally waited till the last second ticked off because you never know would save in what he's going to pull out of his hat because it's happened to us before. So yeah, everybody come up to me saying congratulations as if I owned the team or something like that. But they know how big of a dollar fan I am, there's a lot of people that bought t-shirts and whatnot after the fact. I had plenty of them because AJ, you still there? Yeah, so we're having a little bit of difficulty. We'll just go off air for a second to make sure he is still there. We were talking about the dogs and Russell mania. And I think Saban heard that. And he decided to use his jammer in Tuscaloosa to stop this conversation. I saw a little inside baseball here. You look down, you see the guy's name. Nothing else changes. And then you see the most feared color you could possibly see while you're talking to a gas. All of a sudden it goes red. There's a red circle right next to his name, and then you know what happens next. He disappears. So I think we'll see if we have him back. Otherwise, we'll let him get ready, but one more chance here. I feel like I'm talking to a caller here waiting for him to say hello. I feel like Tom is back. AJ, I trust you hear me now. Okay, I do hear you. Okay, AJ, so you were telling me about the national championship. I read something that when Georgia played Alabama the last time in Atlanta, you were you wanted to go to the game, but you couldn't go because you had a match that night. Is that correct? That's correct. It seems like.

Man, I was just walking to prison y'all with handsome Joe. I heard you was coming in the gate, so I thought. They finally got me on tax evasion. It's gonna get you sooner and later. Jim says he was a scoundrel. Well, I made a mistake. He recommended a CPA. I didn't realize the guy didn't have a license. Yeah, you can't trust him. I want Jim to know Jesus loves you, dude. It's just the rest of us I can't stand you. Hey, Paul got a new name. Let's hear it. You know what it is? DJ pimp. That's where my boy DJ tip who I have heard of. My name is GDT. Hey Paul, I want to pimp slap a couple folks about could right quick and I'll get out of your way. No, you take your time. I don't think I've I think I've only prison shanked one person all day. That guy from talking about how the SEC was overrated. Well, you're going to lose your route. You better eat better get the shank at some folks. You guys shake somebody's folks in your career, you like me, you got to watch every time you turn the car basically nobody looking at you. True. But the first person that DJ what's up? Nobody liked it, but it was necessary. Absolutely. Hey, go balls, just come in and thank you. Thank you very much, Randy. Tyler is up next in Kentucky. Tyler, you're on the air. The two city security can hit forever. I'm a, you know, full Kentucky fan, but I think Georgia should have an automatic bias. What do you think about that? Georgia should have an automatic bid to wear to the NCAA tournament. You did. There were one in 18 of the SEC. So yeah, I mean, if this was Indiana and everybody gets in the tournaments and that they have a perfectly legitimate right to get in, but they don't have Georgia. Georgia, frankly, Georgia didn't deserve to be in the SEC tournament this year. I agree. I just wanted to hear what you had to say about that. That's a great guy for me to say. Yeah. Well, one thing. Sometimes callers call in and they make such a good point that even if the host disagrees, they build a coalition around them. This guy may have turned the team mascot against Mississippi state as vitriolic as he was. Jake is up next in Nashville. Hey Jake. Hi, Paul. I was just.

"For you. Greg, other than being a paranoid fan, you're dead wrong about what you said. I didn't say anything about Mississippi I had a guest on who did, I think I questioned him on that. So if you want to blame me for being the message you're going to go ahead and go ahead and go ahead and be a paranoid fan. That's what you know. Listen, I don't want to argue with that. You have not. No. No. The Internet. You know the color of color in a couple ways go with big drawing. What was head of the mystery car? What's happening to the mystery players? Well, I think I'll live. Well, what? Wanted to get lambasted? Greg, I wish you well. I mean, I'm sorry you were so thin skinned. And so incorrect about everything you said during this call. But that's fair. It's a free country, and you can believe anything you want. But I had the guy on for ten minutes. I questioned him seriously about what he said. I didn't buy it. And I talked to Friends of mine. I'm friendly with president, Mississippi doctor Keenan. Your former athletic director is one of my closest friends. I frankly think you're full of it, but that's okay. We can have a disagreement. Thank you for the call. Josh is in Alabama. Go out ahead, Josh. Yeah, I was just wondering, I was just wondering how you feel about all of this and taking him in the quarterfinals. And then we can make a run in March Madness. If any at all, if they catch fire. Well, I'd like to ask you, why would you think bam is going to catch fire at based on how they play lately? Well, you know, considering how badly they vegan saga and seems like that, you know, it used to, you know, I know they've lost it. Why does that matter now when but why does that matter now? What does that matter now? I think it's always been in them to catch fire like that. You know what I mean? They dropped almost a hundred on Gonzaga. They're a very good defensive team. They've got to understand that they can easily be seen in March. I don't think there's any doubt they can, but we've now seen them three times in March and they've lost all three games. Losing the LSU and overtime is no embarrassment, losing they and them at home at home. A and M with a hot team, but losing their losing a 15 point lead is unconscionable. I mean, that's an excusable for top flight program like Alabama. You know, I agree, you know, losing a Vanderbilt blowing a 15 point lead like that is very embarrassing, but I do think that if they can catch fire the way they did early in the season it seems like in saga and Baylor, I do think that they can maybe make a little run for the lead aiders 16 in the march Madden. Well, thank you for the question. One thing we do here, we do this every day. We talk to fans and fans always believe always believe in their team and that's the beauty of fandom. All I'm trying to do today in a couple of phone calls is be real. And our friend from Mississippi, I gave an opinion on a game. I mean, we're not even did I ask me who I liked for the game. I like Tennessee. I mean, what did that have to do with the baseball championship and this guy who was talking about Alabama? I've seen nothing out of Alabama that would give me a reason to think they can make a final four run. Last year, I did. Let's go to Jared, who was up next in Memphis. What's going on there, mister Paul? We are doing great. Thank you. Hey, it's me again, Margaret. The guy that the Albert means guy and then you gave me flack about being from Memphis, but living in southern Alabama. We're bringing all the smoke today, man. I want to hear you say go balls, one time on the radio. Just for us, man, 'cause your ride or die with Alabama football, but not basketball. Give me one go balls, please, man. Just one time. Greg go right ahead. Hey, mister Paul, just so you come and say on the Tennessee, just bypassed us, sir, you know, you were trying to Kentucky. I think we've got a final puncture chance there. I really do. We met well inside our side. Our first team of ACC guard, we got the big the tulu and them guys inside. I don't know, I sing like a lead. We're giving Tennessee it important to pull the play the game, brother. Well, you know, Greg, I was asking opinion and that's what I give. I'm not like some analysts that if you ask me, who do I like in the SEC? I give you 14 answers. It was an either or question. I'm just trying to answer your question. You can be a fan all you want. Rick Barnes is a better coach in Ben Howland. One's career is going up. The other one is descending. I think they have more players. I like them in the game, but you can go to Vegas right now and bet your house and your family's house if you'd like. I'd be more than happy to watch you. Well, I just think it's kind of funny here lately and I've watched everything. Anything comes up about me 6 days, you just go straight negative. I think we got to say it around here state fans. You don't want the chicken cross the road to get away from Paul buying bomb crediting how much you can't stay in Mike Lee. So you say what you want to, but you know, actually speak louder than worse, brother. Well, I'm sure they do. And I don't know what Mike wheat has to do with Ben hall and I've been friendly with Ben Holland. We knew what you heard the guest you had when we went on our national title championship baseball. We know all about the racial foreigners and stuff like that when everybody in the grandmother. Greg, I got news for you. Greg, other than being a paranoid fan, you're dead wrong about what you said. Yeah, unfortunately, I have not had a chance to really have really had a chance to watch it since we are here. Hey, Paul, how are you doing today? We are doing great. Thank you very much. Paul, I just wanted to have two questions. I just wanted to get your thoughts on the Tennessee Mississippi state game tonight. In my second question is, wouldn't surprise you if Tennessee made a final four run and then CWA tournament, have a good day, good ball. Thank you. I would surprise me a little bit, but I think they'll win tonight. I mean, I think this is not a good matchup. For Mississippi state, I think. I just coaching player place player matchups. I definitely like Tennessee. I think Tennessee could win this tournament. If they can get by Kentucky, but I couldn't.

"Underway as we say hello to you from Tampa where there have already been shockwaves across not only the SEC, but the nation will get you caught up on all of that as we say hello to you for our third day of coverage. Under the sun and the bright lights of Tampa, Florida, we're right outside the arena where the bright lights have been all Texas a and M they had to keep winning and that's exactly what they have done. They opened up an 18 point lead over auburn and held on for a 67 62 victory. Remember yesterday they blew a big lead had to win an overtime against Florida. They're not in the tournament yet and part of the reason is some of the early season losses just were brutal, but they're making up for it at just the right time. Leonardi has been projected next four out. One would think a win tomorrow over the Arkansas issue game would be enough to get them in the tournament, but they're not in yet. All that can change. Everything is projection. This is not official. That comes Sunday Night. What is official is that Bama, the tournament champion and regular season champion last year, has been a major disappointment at the end of this season. They lost have lost three in a row at just the wrong time. They blew a 5th teen point lead and made Scottie Pippen junior prophetic. Remember he said it on Wednesday night. Alabama's beatable. Remember Vanderbilt almost beat the tide NATO's has had better days. Just kept falling, pippin. Good player. He picks up files a lot, and we didn't do very good job gardening with our combination of all that. We give up 15 point lead, and it's a tough way to lose to go out after some of the wins we've had to share and what we're capable of doing, you know, lost three in a row now. We've got to regroup and get ready for the NCA tournament. And what else can you say? They'll still be in the tournament, but they're seating continues to worsen as Bama picked a bad time to start losing, especially in its first game. Meanwhile, the least known surprise in the SEC happened, Tom crean fired after a disastrous run as the Georgia head coach. He got off to a good start. That's a big players, including the number one pick two years ago, but his problem was he couldn't keep anyone there. Especially this year when a couple of his top players went elsewhere, it collapsed and winning one conference game, not going to get it done at Georgia, which looks around and sees if someone can be the savior of a Mormon basketball program. So that's where we are. We have a lot to do, buzz Williams will join us shortly..

"In football it's different. If you're a playoff team, if you lose the game early, it matters. But in basketball, you identified this a minute ago from the first game, you're trying to figure out a way to get in the tournament, aren't you? Yeah, and you know, I think one of the things and maybe this is too much. I think one of the things that's helped the SEC over the last several years. And as the league is changing, I don't know that it will matter as much, but we're the only power 5 league that has non conference scheduling parameters. Right. And so the non conference schedule of all of the teams in the SEC meet a minimum standard. And I think that has helped the net of all of the teams in the league. Before you sign a contract in a non conference game in the SEC, it has to go through your administration and then through the SEC office on who are you playing? And the average sum of those teams and their numbers has to equate to a certain level. And I think that that's helped create better matchups, better non conference schedules, and I think it matters more now in league play across 18 game. I mean, there was a time, many, many years ago. You just bought 20 wins and yeah, you can't do that anymore. You can't do that. You know, like you're going to play in the SEC big 12 challenge. That's a game. Nearly every team is going to play in a multi team event. We're playing and Maui slash Vegas this year. That's four of them. Then you're going to play 18 conference games. That's 22 of them. You're going to play at least one in the SEC tournament. That's 23 of them. Now all of a sudden, there's really who are you going to open with? Who are you going to play after Christmas? Who are you going to play after finals week? That's a scheduling question for every coach. Well, there's three to those 24. You're already at 27. Wow. So you're going to play a home and away. We play Oregon state in the PAC 12 this year on the road. So the scheduling Conda is cookie cutter relative to what you have to accomplish. It's figuring out the dates and then where are you playing the game? Fascinating to hear that part of it. But you've always been a guy that I just have to read it over and over and then write it down over and over because I don't have that. I mean, with all the I mean, you talk a different language than any other coach I talk to. I'm not a very good coach. I just have to try a role. Just ham and egg or just just do the best I can each day. It's always great to see you guys. It's the only thing that I say yes to. Anytime somebody says Paul fan bomb, I say yes. The many, many times, and we have visited with Ross over the years first in Oxford, where he was formally the athletic director and now the ethylene director here in Ross. It's really it's great to see you here. And we were a couple of years ago and so you had just gotten here, but this place is doing fairly well. But we had to move locations. We were over in Aggie park and that's their construction. So we have a new site here, just right here by the MSC, the backdrop of Kyle field and I just wonder Paul, have you been able to say howdy enough to the aggies here? I'm working on that. The sums up the Giga. We had Porter Gardner here early and we would literally went through the I don't want to say the dummies guy. A quick tradition, this guy. You need that. They're a lot because you can't mess it up. Now, you obviously we're familiar with this. You've been in the SEC at a couple of places as an assistant and obviously the AD here. But how do you become indoctrinated very quickly with honestly a couple hundred years of tradition? I think what you do is you get to know the people. I think if you get to know the people, then you get to understand the culture and you start to understand the language and what not to say and how to say howdy and every talk that you give to any group here at a and M, you have to start with howdy. Because if you don't, everybody's kind of waiting. Okay, when's he going to say howdy? So I think that's the biggest thing is you get to a place you just start to get to know the culture of the people. And I think you do that by being accessible and being visible. So I've tried to do that in the two and a half years that I've been here. And I've always said that every campus has its uniqueness, but I don't know if there's any place as unique in total as Aggie land. Well, I think when I was in college athletics back in that 2010, 11 era, I was at western Kentucky as the athletic director and you're following conference realignment. And I used to work at the university of Missouri from 1997 to 2003. So I'd been to Kyle field three different times. And when this happened when this transition happened for a and M to go into the SEC, I said perfect culture, perfect size and scale, the traditions fit the SEC, everything about it. And then when you get to work at this place, you see how unique it is. And the thing about a pause, we don't manufacture any of these traditions. We'll have 40,000 people tonight at Yale practice at midnight. There's not a marketing firm, an agency that you could go to and say, hey, we'd like to do this event and call it yell practice. It will have 40,000 people that would show up. People would say you're crazy. So everything's organic here and everything fits with what the SEC is all about storied tradition in college sports. I just thought of this and I'm curious because you are in a unique position and there have been 80s that have served for 30, 40 years, but you've been in this league about ten years. 8 years. And I daresay, you've been the athletic director over two of maybe the two most memorable wins in this era, the win over Alabama at all miss and the win over Alabama here. Somebody did a stat, they said, you know, who's beating Nick Saban in the last ten years. And I've been a part of three victories against Alabama. I had nothing to do with any of those victories other than cheering or yelling for the teams that I represent. The programs I represent. But I remember that 2014, that scene, Katy Perry, the game day was there that day, storming the field. The goalposts got torn down. Obviously that day paraded through Oxford. And then being here, just a few weeks ago and seeing that scene, it's just an epic, more people. We didn't tear the goalposts down, but a lot of them same memories of just, okay, let's make sure everybody's safe. How much is the find going to be? We knew there'd be a fine. And just making sure that we handled all those things appropriately. But that's just what it's all about. Those moments is what you kind of live for in our world in college athletics and you're just happy for your student athlete. Yeah, if you have one of those in your life, you'll talk about it. The rest of your life, you're doing those. Yeah. You have those memories, that's for sure. Now you just want to keep it going. And keep the momentum going that we have here at Texas a and M. Let's talk about this program because Jimbo Fisher was brought here for a reason. This school has supported him and continued to support him. And I don't think too many smart college football people had any doubt there would be a moment like that. Well, I think you're exactly right. That's why Texas a and M went after Jimbo and gave him a ten year commitment and as we looked at it this summer, we said, look, the landscape in college athletics is changing. We love our continuity. We love the job that he's doing. Let's get him back to that ten year window, because we knew that these type of moments, the spring moment where he said, hey, we're going to be Nick Saban while he's there. That was sort of, hey, that's Jimbo's personality. That became sort of a joke, if you will, but then to back that up to show the momentum that we have, you know, I talked to Jimbo all the time. He loves it here. He's a perfect fit here. It's kind of fascinating that his name still gets thrown out. A lot about the other job that's open in our conference. But I know for sure, he's locked in here. He's our coach. He's going to be here for a long time. And we're going to keep investing in the program. Facility development, the coaching staff, him and his situation personally. So we knew that those moments are going to be possible now. The key is you want to be consistent. You want to be in that elite air where you're winning championships, you're competing for the SEC. And we think we have the commitment to do that. And on that front and I've always thought for an athletic director year as plugged in as anybody I've ever met into what is being said and you have to be to know if you don't know what others are saying about you then you're losing..

Va Tech's Ty Outlaw to Play in Sweet 16 vs. Duke After Passing Drug Test
"Here force Virginia Tech intends to play senior Guotai outlaw has been charged with marijuana possession against Duke and ENC tournament Friday unless little headline on their hokies coach buzz Williams announced in a statement that outlaw took a drug test before the team left campus on Wednesday, brick Sweet Sixteen showed in Washington DC on Friday, the test came back negative, prompting Williams and athletic director without cop to allow them to play. Now when was the original wrestle outlaw was charged March twenty first the day after he and the hokies arrived in San Jose, California. That's when he was charged the twenty first. So let me get this straight again. That's neither here nor there. Let me let me get this straight. He goes out to California and get pinched for wheat, which he knows. He can't do it against the law and Virginia Tech season. So he plays in the games already. And then they come back to campus. Five days later twenty first twenty second twenty third twenty four twenty fifth. And then they test him. And he comes up negative for marijuana in assistant. Well, I've been around the block for a little bit. You know, maybe in my forties. But I did go to college. You know, I was a high school. Participants. There are stuff out there that can ask. Let's just say these marijuana tests will leave it at that. So if Regina attack was so diligent in what they were looking to do and make sure nothing was wrong. They don't test outlaw on the twenty first twenty second twenty third were twenty four but then test him on the twenty fifth. Now, what sense does that actually make? And let's back it up here. It's not because he's still chart. So it's gonna be, you know, corden fines, and whatever it would be unless the charges get dropped. Who knows? But if you are Virginia Tech, what does this say though, honestly like one of your players? You're starters. Got arrested. While you were out on the west coast came home. And you tested him for Weeden came up. Nothing in his system. Scratch my head a little bit on this one. What what was the outcome that we were looking for here? So he had the weed on them. But it's not his we'd he was going to give it to somebody else. I. I don't know. I don't look on. And look if you're betting Virginia Tech, if you won't Virginia Tech to beat Duke. It's fantastic. It's great. And you know, if I'm a head coach, and I'm a booster. I'm a fan of Virginia Tech. I love this outcome, Jack. Yeah. He minutes. Six six four, please. He's a three point shooter. We need all hands on deck to beat Duke. He's gonna play take the old, Bob. Bobby Bowden, Florida state approach dadgum it. We'll just have that boy run some steps. And that'll cure everything. I hear you on that. But this is what does the clean drug test have anything to do with him. Having weed on them though. Allegedly. What happens if he's selling wheat? I don't know. We're just didn't get a chance to smoke. It yet. The fact that he was caught with it. Charged with it. What does having? No, we'd in your system even have to do with this. So if you crack cocaine to high school, it was in your pocket who knows what you were going to do with it sell it smoke, it give it to your best friend, you get caught and charged. You can't play that Friday night football game because it's on Friday. But then they just test you for crack in your system. And if you don't have any it's all good and you can play. What did I miss? I'm going to get it doesn't make any difference to me of outlaw plays or doesn't play tonight for Virginia Tech. And none. But I don't understand the concept of well. We tested in for weed, and it wasn't an assist them. So we're good come on man that test the guy could just said, hey, we're going to let the court case, you know, take take its roundabout through the system, and when he gets done, and if these guilty or has to pay a fine or goes on probation or nothing happens will advise in will carry out some sort of thing, neck, Johnny. This is. Administered. Make sure if he's a. Check here. See his greatest. I think he's a senior. Because I know you had a lot of hard times there. Virginia Tech couple injuries and stuff. Let's see. He's a senior. So let me just play it off like that. You know what I mean? Coming back next year. He's gonna play it out, and we'll let the legal system, but the whole sham of hey, man. Look at us. We're doing the right thing. They got picture we but has no we'd in assistant. So it's all good. Stop man's stop. The mates is hearing set for
