"If Milo rose needed a manager, but you know here we go with it, and it's a way to get Vicki out there and on there so. There you go, cody and sunny kiss. I thought was a good story that was being told there, and obviously they're throwing around a lot of stuff with tully Blanchard, and and the feelings of the four horsemen, and all that sort of stuff and I don't know what direction it's going to go in. You know part of me wonders if there's going to be some sort of a massive swerve or whatever you would call it. It ends up being like cody and his longtime friend Shawn Spears and aren't entirely joining forces getting those two back on track, and then you got FDR next to him, not the worst idea in the world. I don't know, maybe let me know if it's a terrible one or not. But I thought he did a good job with sunny kiss coming in and overconfident. You know nobody. People may have wanted sunny kissed to win, but it was not going to be realistic that they were going to make that move. And that's the one thing with cody is, and that's the challenge every week with him out there doing the aren't Anderson with TV title. How do you make people believe and I? Thought he did a good job with sunny kiss last night, being cocky, telling that story needing. Needing aren't to get in his ass and tell him to get his head out of his ass and to get going, and I. thought that was really good. I liked it in the same way they did that with Kenny Omega as well, too, and while I'm certainly on the you know the record for not being a fan of you know the the cleaner gimmick as it was presented in New Japan. Hey if he's going to start turning or you want. Start adding some some spice into what's going on here? I mean Adam Page I. Don't think anybody wants to see hangman page. Turn dirty. I think people are enjoying him way too much and I think any thought that page is going to turn on. Kenny Omega in turn on the elite. I don't WanNa say that's out the door, but. You want. To be one of your longtime good guys, you know and I. I at this point certainly wouldn't do that I. Think Kenny Omega who has played that role in the past, certainly in new Japan pro wrestling where? He gained a lot of his acclaimed from a lot of people and worked in a style that people would love to see him go back to. The possibility of him turning dirty, I think it works out a lot better, and I think him, and how he acted with Marcos stunt iced. Marco is one of those guys. I to see him go back and forth and give offense and I know everybody's everybody's got a different thing because I talk about how much urge cassidy and different people in with Markov. It's still it's still tough seeing him do tandem moves where he is literally thrown into guys and one example of that was that. Way The way they had filmed. It looked like it defied gravity momentarily. It was like that Buzz Sawyer flying out of the ring spot that he used to do. You seem to like hover through the ropes out of the ring I thought that was an awesome spot where Lucia Soars and jungle boy pulled him up. Over the ropes from the floor, and he pulled off that hurricane run I thought that was awesome. Seeing him go back and forth with with Kenny Omega You know I it still, I'm still a little bit. The twisted on that venial Bryan Alvarez all four that absolutely unbelievable thing, no problem whatsoever with Kenny Omega, instead maybe a little much, but can you make a certainly got his heat back afterwards by continuing to Pummel on. Poor Marco so I thought that pulled off pretty well with. Cage and Jon Moxley. If it wasn't for Darby. Allen I think that would have been a disappointing ending to that match with task throwing the towel, even though they explained really well, why from a physical point of view he wanted out of that match or why Tasr would have wanted him out of that match. I still thought it Kinda whack, but then with Darby Allen Day viewing I'm not saying that that's going to be the only thing anybody remembers because I thought it was a decent match between Moxley, engaged, and I thought they told a pretty good story, but Darby Allen coming back. That's awesome and to see him go back, and forth with TASR and the guy actually have the F. T. W. title. WHO'S NOT A bad gas or Or May Guy if anybody has said f the world guy like RV Allen and that's something i. think is is going to be kind of cool and I know. We're going to be running up against a break here and I know you got EFI coming on so I. Want to get to the phones here I know. Derek is in New Jersey. He's been waiting for a while Eric. How are you good how you doing? I'm doing all right. Sorry Betcha up against time here. We got about forty five seconds or so, so what's on your mind? All right I shatter the twitch. homeys the one thing that really liked about the yeah TASR into cage. Thing is that they clearly knew this was the ending, or at least I think they clearly knew that this the ending way back when? They had has come out with the towel very.

"Tommy, before we go out to the busted open nation, are you ready for my top five heels of all time? Yes, and I'm trying to think of being he'll. Why doN'T WE SCALP FEES? GIVEAWAYS will go old school wrestling scalp the giveaways and we'll make a little side cash, and then just say hey, these are free, but meanwhile we made the fans pay for an. Dog Buzz Sawyer Tommy at number, five good good pick, and like I said every top face needs a appeal in that feud. Really really helped the both of them at number four somebody that I always hated. I know that you said. At the end of his career quickly became a baby face, but I know him as the Russian nightmare Ivan coal off at number, four great pick fabulous pick. He's in my top ten. Okay at number three, the billion dollar man. Who just spoke to and again if you missed a moment of any of our, he'll show our interviews with Ted Dibiase or Kevin Sullivan. Go to Sirius Xm APP, and listen to us on demand. Watch the videos that Mike. Guy Doesn't Danielle, does on the Sirius Xm APP, and of course subscribe and like the busted open podcast number three DB. At number to somebody who wasn't on your list, which I thought was going to be somebody that was definitely the combination of hatred and fear at number two Abdul, the butcher. Yeah? I get it and win the whole hatred and fear thing but to me. He was never in the territory. Too Long. He was a different version of an Andre the giant because he always was. He was always like the surprise. Bad Guy Enforcer so that's why I knew when he came to town was trouble, but he wouldn't be there that long and a lot of times. You know there was never any clean finishes back then not that I cared but Abdulah definitely for like all the bloodshed that in. His fear factor. Yes, but for me. He wasn't a I. Don't know it just didn't resonate that way. and. Number one I'm shocked at this. Wasn't your number one? But the man. We just spoke to a few minutes ago. The Prince of darkness himself Kevin Sullivan. Yeah, I'm the only reason why he wasn't is because of the numbers that Vince did that was my discerning factor was, but yeah. Kevin was Kevin's. A great he'll always always was always will be. And you know his his psychology, especially that one thing that he said what he couldn't lap makeup for in height, he made up for it in his work and his. Aggressiveness of being atop guy and I remember him specifically. When he told Andrei Story I remembered him jumping off. The second roper, doing stuff off the second rope like his chops to wear down Andrei, but to me he was doing that as leverage, but then there's also the visuals of him choking Andre and when you're. Looking at that photo because that's how a lot of us got it or even those stills. He's the same high then as Andre the giant and psychological thing. At times are missing. It really really are because. I. Don't Envision Kevin. Sullivan is five foot eight. No No, not at all not off. This man as a monster and a lot of these lists are like you said earlier. It's what you envision why this an list that we can argue. About is just what drew fear or drew like hatred for you that emotion. We got from DAX from the revival or the F- The revival he said. Dom Rocco, Roddy Piper Tully, blanchard cornet in the midnights and Vince. A lot of wrestlers chiming in I love it. shockingly, we have a difference of opinion with somebody. Who Do you think that person is David? Bowie. Bully healed us. He's dying the show. He's healing us and he wrote. Doesn't tag US either. If you're comply compiling a list of top five greatest of all time in Freddie Blassie, the original seek aren't on it. Your list is invalid, so he just emailed us on our own show. He's not even up I know angry. Man and bully could be on that list as well because he's definitely wanted. Great I mean he would tainted list for real. Yes. Yes! He's definitely number one. He'll busted open. There's no doubt about that all we have our winner. Our second winner.

Talk about your first glued figure, and he would describe it as having what he called a flesh colored Yarmulke. A! Yes, he finally got one right. Now, my opinion. The people that make these action figures aren't they supposed to take? Whatever body you have, and make it look a little bit better I think the goal is to enhance it. Mayhem writes in out of all the great wrestlers, telling stories in the car or backstage. Who Do you think was one of the best storytellers someone who always had a story to tell? Dick Murdoch. I was a huge fan of Dick Murdoch. He was a man. What a fun guy and he was one of those guys that he looked like big bird. A great body? That's result ride with him. I felt good about myself with Daiki. Sitting next to me, we both looked terrible. So he would tell some of the the stories about the old guys you know and dusty, and while and all those guys men our just be mesmerized, and he would sit there with a case of beer any nita cooler. He would just go and buy case a bear Senate Twain his legs, and he would start drinking throwing cans out the. Three hours or so he would have that whole case strike and his demeanor never changed. It would always be laughing and he was just fun to be around. Couple of fun once here that we've never talked about smash wants to know. You've had some memorable matches with mad dog. Buzz Sawyer. I'm a big fan of both of your in ring work. Buzz was not a world class person. buzzed out a mean streak and A worker program with buzz. Where we're down in Atlanta and only in I'd been set down in eighty five to work with Buzz Dick Slater. Some of those guys and his little brother Brad Sawyer. And then that morphed into because all he was a world to work that much to a single match with buzz and I and I was one of those guys that I don't think he failed hours ready for my position where the company. Anne held it against me and. Buzzer trying I think buzz was half ass tough. You know got amateur wrestler. And he would try to test you. And we had a match somewhere in Michigan. and. We got Roland spilled to the outside and I got used to buzz. Hit me hard like form on the on the back and the chess that was that was a non-issue flippers. You know some of the kicks staff, but. You can follow Raven on all social media platforms at the Raven. Affect Gray talking the Raven. Tommy about the number four feud of all time you and Raven himself. Matthew say so. He's all right. Okay. That's that just. He doesn't even follow me on social media. You didn't for the first nine years of our relationship, but let's recap our true. That's absolutely true, but let's recap. Ten through four at number, ten stone, cold versus Vince McMahon at number nine. Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart at Number Eight Carlos, Cologne, and Abdul the butcher at number, seven rock and roll express and midnight express at number six Jerry, lawler and Bill Dundee at number, five dusty Rhodes and Ric flair at number four, just mentioned Tommy Dreamer and Raven at number three and again another feud, where you can make the case that this could be number one and added Tommy Wildfire, rich and mad dog buzz Sawyer Man. You talk about wildfire. You talk about bloodshed. It seemed like every single week. These two guys went at both of us. Kind of grew up watching these two guys beating the living crap out of each other, and we waited as wrestling fans. It was the holy grail of tapes. To, try to find this footage of the the last battle of Atlanta in the first, ever wargame I'm sorry. Yeah, I ever elimination chamber match. Really well at the cage. That's right. Sorry It was Tommy rich and Buzzer, the last battle of Atlanta and I remember as a kid. That's all I wanted for Christmas, and these guys. Every single week had just it was again. Opposites. You look a Buzz Sawyer back then. We didn't know he had a. you know an amateur background, but he was just such a bad ass and Tommy rich was the baby face country guy who just go in and fight for what was right, and they bled buckets and buckets of blood all throughout Georgia. And that's why for me. It was so so high and to the point Tommy. Tommy where a lot of people say that this really hurt. The future of both wrestlers both Tommy Wildfire Rich Buzz Sawyer really were never the same after this feud, and it's the few that helped me fall in love with pro wrestling I say it all the time I'm busted open. Tommy rich was the first face I ever saw when I watched pro wrestling for the first time, and it was during the feud with mad..

"He was drifting around. Bob Was the one who recommended the five pro wrestling and they went around looking for somewhere to train. And they found of all people buzz Sawyer. Who had the you know the awful rap of being a basically a scam artist famously ripping off the undertaker and not training him and so can didn't learn to Russell from soya but instead buzz adopted him as the guy who would stretch the trainees so basically they'd sign up. Give their money to buzz. Buzz would have them Brussel can Kenwood them. They'd quit and buzz would keep their money. How lasted for any significant period of time is best is is an interesting story but Ken was learning nothing about how to Russell and eventually left and amazing racket by Buzz Sawyer and so he goes to train with Nelson way across the country in North Carolina. And he he actually had a WF debut shortly thereafter which. I wasn't aware of dark match. Where he lost to bury Horowitz of all people and then he got his break in Japan people. Well I mean very hard. It's very famous enhancement talent. He was good as an enhancement talent. But just a little bit of a toner. The notion of of Berry Horowitz beating. Ken Shamrock the world's most dangerous man in his Debbie F. debut is You know a little amusing sort of like Duane Gill beating be beating bill. Bergen is his dark match. Debut which didn't happen now's us an example and then can gets his big break in Japan as a replacement for deem go in in all Japan and Canada. This point is still getting into fights all the time and he becomes intrigued when he saw tape of shoot wrestling should style wrestling from Japan that the Dean Blanco showed him and dean stepbrother. Carl Ada Fun Pride so there were a lot of connections in those worlds and you can see some of that style in the way that the Dean Milenko wrestled and so he went to Florida. Ken shamrock that as to learn catch wrestling from. Uw OFF guys and he stands out so they brought him to Japan. Where minore Suzuki out his way with them and then Masakatsu Funaki is way with them and can keeps trying. But he's getting his ass kicked and Ken wants more and he you know He. He keeps calling for more but he's just getting beaten up and at the end of this like okay. That's and Ken thinks he's lost. And that's it for him after this which is crazy. You Know Lake. If he couldn't beat the top to shoot guys in the group without much training do they just view is unworthy? Perhaps that's a reflection of what he learned from Sawyer. Where it's you know about you know. Proving people can't make rather than seeing what they have but of course it was the opposite shown a lot of heart he done well without knowing the techniques that that you know that so they knew that when he did learn the techniques that he could be he could be really impactful and successful at this so around that time there was the infamous fight with the nasty boys. Which is you know. Legendary story in pro wrestling over the years there have been stories about back and forth. The story is snowden puts. It together is that it started because a nasty boys were grabbing woman's boobs and sexually harassing him and Ken was asking asking them to stop. And they got into an argument and so shamrock later goes to their hotel room kicks in their door and goes after KNOBS ALTHOUGH. It's like the spun the movie where he's beating up knobs and sags comes up from behind and knocks him unconscious with the phone and then they just stopped the hell out of them really brutal beating and you know it was. He was in bad shape there but he recovers goes to the DOJ. Oh in in Japan to train. And it's really. There's a really a picture painted of that dough Joe and in Japan complete with the fact that it had an outhouse in in Tokyo stolen one thousand nine hundred ninety s which seems kind of crazy but a lot of the way it was and the the hierarchy. Karl Gotch was on top and then Yoshiaki Fujiuwara who is the leader of Of of the promotions they joined later and then Masakatsu Funaki and Minoru Sukey and Ken was the only non-japanese training there for a while and he liked Funaki. He didn't like Suzuki. And that became an issue. Over time. Debuted Against Yoji. An another infamous store and other infamous character on wrassling. The Guy who Years later drove to came flew across the Pacific Ocean to challenge Hickson Gracie to an impromptu fight and thinking that you know that that Hickson Gracie was not going to accept the challenge on notice out of the blue and Hickson Gracie instead hears about this. Here's about the sky causing trouble in his dough Gel. And though Joe Taping this and proceeds to beat the ever loving crap out of out of Yoji and Joe and send them back to Japan with terrible beating which was a setup for a lot of the success that came because that was that the reason and jump serve drifting off. Yeah but I had the reason done that was that he was. He was a part of the five which is one of the off-shoot groups out of the UAW so vessels Ken shamrock Russell's and Joe in the WF Ken Shamrock goes off to progressing Fujiuwara Gumi. And then the tank and then pancreas while..

"Listen in a streamlined way with no interruptions to all of our podcasts. Again that's PW torch VIP INFO DOT COM. Well no that's a great point because in the media conference call which I listened to in addition to the Jericho podcast interview. Billy hit on a number of other subjects and one of the questions asked by wrestling. Reporter was would you consider what Bischoff and Russo did The shutting down. W take a week off to a hard reset put all the titles for grabs like really overhaul and and get people's attention. Say this is going to be different. Maybe they didn't get brought up but maybe changed the name of the company. I mean really go for heart reset and he said no and part because that's not realistic. Because I think is somewhat satisfied with the product that they have and I think they should be. I think that the show is better now than it's been in a long time. I think the the James Storm and Magnuson their performances with mickie. James have been really good. I think Bram is emerging star. I think one of the things about billy. Corgan that that it doesn't undo what he said but he said that he wants to create stars who aren't X. Wwe Guys and some people brought this up. There's not a lot of those left in there's Kurt Angle. There's Bobby Lashley but when you look at the roster and you look at who they promote its it's Eric Young Magnus James Storm Bram through McIntyre's next wwe guy but he's flanked an MVP is too but they're flanked by people. Aren't Kenny King and low key and Koya I think. Tna has created largely their own roster. I think Billy Corgan can be good. But I don't know how far it extends is if they as he says if he steers the battleship more towards some things that he believes. They're not quite getting right yet or that could make a bigger difference. Even if they're not doing them wrong right now just add on top of what they're doing right. Maybe billy can because of his name value such as it is he. You know I don't know. At what level q rating or pop culture rating has but people who he is. Maybe he can get them some more attention. Some more mainstream exposure. He seems to be kind of excited about trying to do that. Along with wanting to develop new stars. I'm with you though John. I think the big question mark is if billy is able to do everything that he says and I think he's just actually joining a parade. That's moving in that direction. Anyway I think. Tna has been largely improved in a lot of areas. That billy talked about. That's one of the reasons I think he's welcomed into this group with John. Burke and and and Matt Conway Gone Ahead and Creative So I think it's good that Dixie listened to these ideas and said I like this. I like these ideas. Come on in. He can help cement the good things. But you're right you're gonna do everything right and still have people have only five hundred and some thousand people find you on destination America and there might not be much more hope for growth in the short run. It might just be a really slow as he said. Turn the battleship situation can add one more thing. I think there's A. There's an opportunity for billy to bring in A fan base. Maybe that Aren't quite wrestling fans and You know there's a chance that you can get those but I think that wrestling fans want wrestling and good storytelling. I think that if you bring in so if I if I brought a friend over and I said Look. This is a great product. It's called much hike. Compared to EC W in what ninety five ninety six And you said listen. I know you don't like wrestling or did you like it when you were seven Come over and watch. Tna and let's say they booked it exactly. How Billy Corgan wanted to book it. Those are the eyeballs. He's going to be able to bring in his fan base or people that just that. Ho You know they brought in Billy Corgan from reading the Hollywood reporter and which check this out if they booked. Tna that way. I don't think they're going to bring in new libels. Can they bring in some wrestling fan? Yes but I think with something like when C W was taking off and I'm not even saying that this is GonNa work today so by no means am I saying they have to go the W. out but the EC w route kind of caught on with some non traditional wrestling fan. Because it was something where you could bring them over watch that they can be like no. I'm not even a wrestling fan but Dan that was good of Dan. That was entertaining. And I I'm not talking about you know part jokes. Like Vince thinks is entertaining. I'm just talking about it. Entertaining wrestling products for for example. If you a if I took someone to Pwg PRO wrestling guerrilla show. I think that they would sit there and go look. I'm not a wrestling fan. But this is good and all come back with. You watched it again. I don't know that what billy can bring in is going to be the right audience for what he can't on booking. I don't know if that makes sense to you. Does it? Well yeah no and I think the issue is what Hollywood reporter's not gonNA raise ratings. 'cause it's an industry trade magazine and it's nice to get headlines. It gives a little credibility to the current audience that hey tea and as being talked about by these trade journals we've heard of but yeah they're not a big difference maker in the ratings can billy make. Tna more cool. Yeah I think he can. I mean he talks about you. Know he's got to adjust. He's a guy in his late forties. But he's he's out there doing festival shows in England and he's reacting to his fan base and he's selling albums and he's appealing to a wide range of people including people weren't around when the smashing pumpkins. I broke out in the nineties. And maybe he's can bring a cool factor to the entrance music and I like something. I heard him talk about that. I haven't heard a lot of people talk about is how entrance music and I liked the way and this was more than media conference call. I believe he talked about how not everybody needs to come out to. And he had some some music term that he used a recipe for hard. Rock is like not everybody who's come out to the grinding. Hard rock song. He goes sometimes in says. I fight talent on it sometimes but sometimes you want to be kind of ironic or opposite or surprise people instead of mood with your music in a different way. And so there. I think there's some touches that he can add to TNA to make it more cool and it's something that I think has always plagued TNA and it's whether it was Jeff Jarrett with with a Nashville Memphis approach and and and the the not really in the white jeans he wore every week on TV. I mean really white jeans and you know this in in two thousand three when your believe baby face it worked regionally but I think it limits how people look at them compared to ring of honor for instance or pro wrestling guerrilla. So maybe billy can give a little shine of being a little bit more cool and be a little more plugged in on that and redefined them in that way. Because I do think there's a lot going on well. I don't dread watching Tina impact. I enjoyed I. I really enjoy James Stores as performance. I think Eric Young has actually been successful at finding the right slot for somebody with his history to be a believable of mad dog buzz sawyer like character now As a heel and I mean I could go on. Sorta random is always good so I. I think there's something to work with their John. I'm I'm excited but I I have the same same kind of limitations on how much I think. Billy can do quickly but I think he can help steer them in the right direction over the next year or two if TNA sticks it out and destination America's sticks out to make the product better product if they allow him to initiate that vision that he has I just I you know. I don't know lessons and are getting excited. Thinking they were about to see you know revolution in wrestling. I don't stop going to happen. But no eight. People hold their cards fight. Maybe he's got this great great idea and I could be wrong. I Just Thought Torch faithful this is Kelly wells host of WT talks in st every Thursday. You can hear me and my gang of idiots Tom. I'm the only person on the show that gasoline the house and we rented a Condo in Dan's building as our makeshift office and a huge fixture of our office in our day to day. Living here now is putting the TV on ww network and just going in succession. Like let's watch every summer slam. Let's watch every WRESTLEMAINIA. Ever so I've seen quite a bit of. Ken shamrock matches and Ken. Shamrock was obviously a huge crossover star arguably the most famous mixed martial artists at the time but he jumped into the wwe at a time that they were building a lot of major stars. So if you join in a previous era he might have been top of the card type of guy but most of his career was spent in the mid card. Let's start at the beginning of the time line. I didn't really know this but I got myself familiar with Ken. Shamrock really started as a professional wrestler. And then the mixed martial arts career came that right yeah. A lot of people don't know that but Ken shamrock was a pro wrestler. I for for years and years like He. He had a significant experience starting back in the late eighties. He's I started getting trained under buzz. Sawyer a noted Madman in California That training consisted mostly of of handing buzz money and then does not showing up for the training session or asking Ken to stretch the other guys so they would not come back and he could just take their money so He he ended up getting real training for Nelson Royal in North Carolina. And he worked like a an honest to goodness kind of old school territory. There in North Carolina South Carolina and Georgia called South Atlantic pro wrestling era. Sodas Vince Torelli and later as Mr Wrestling so He had some experience in the business. What drew him to professional wrestling. Was he a fan from childhood? He had some degree of fan but actually so is his adopted. Father Bob Shamrock was was really big into pro wrestling and was kind of like a career pass. He picked out for for Ken. Ken was a guy who is kind of was drifting. You know he had these obvious physical capabilities But no real way to you know there wasn't a UFC or anything like that yet. So there wasn't really much you can do with it. Like he was a good junior college football player but he wasn't good enough to be a professional football player and he had some skill in amateur wrestling but he didn't have the technique or or the real background to compete at the Olympic Level. Although he went to the Olympic trials so he was this guy that had all these physical tools and and nothing to do with a bouncer at at at clubs and stuff like that so he was like a guy in his mid twenties was kind of drifting and and his dad was like new That Ken was the kind of Guy. Like if you didn't have something to focus on like he was he was going to be in jail or dead like sooner rather than later and and so it was his idea to kind of Push him into pro wrestling and and and he was a natural added. Everyone says I talked all the people from his original training classes. And and you know from the very beginning can can have it so ken professional wrestling journey then. Shortly thereafter takes him to Japan this promotion that he wrestles in Japan seems a bit crazy to me. Especially in the Modern Day. It's a combination of professional wrestling but real amateur fights like true fighting. A what can you tell me about this promotion? It sounds insane. Yeah so it started so he met Demon Lincoln who listeners probably know a stink over Malingco from WCW days In in in a guy whose family had been trained by Carl Gotcha was like the God of wrestling is what they call them. Japan and noted a tough guy wrestler. A real legit amateur been the Olympics and stuff like that and His disciples in Japan. wanted wrestling to to look like real fighting and and so they created something called the WF and it's these wrestling matches that if you if you watch them this is prior to UFC. So no one had seen this kind of stuff before. But you'll see stuff that looks really familiar to fans like there's a lot of submission holds and and and the same kind of striking C in C fights only. It's it's professional wrestling. So these guys are beating the crap out of each other But there are predetermined ending. So it's almost like a fight but you know who's GonNa win at the end so And for Ken like a lot of Pro Wrestler. Used to see this and be like. Oh I'm not. I don't WanNa do that. You know You know there was kind of a repulsion. It's the opposite of what wrestling is. Which is where you try to make something. Look like it hurts but it doesn't really hurt. this was all about like no. We're going to go out there and actually fight each other Most wrestlers are like no not for me. I can share. Mark was like how? How do I get into that? And so He found himself Very quickly You know the Japanese that were training in Florida with Karl. Gotch like immediately said recognized like of this guy is. This guy is what we need. You know he. He was born for this and You know within just a couple of months. He was on a plane to Japan. And and doing these wild matches in Tokyo now. What point does the UFC come in? Is it in Japan where he makes some contacts in the mixed martial arts game? How does this happen? Because that's where he really truly becomes a a known American sports. Are you know it all happened kind of at once so at at the same time right around when you have SI starting a couple of months before actually Some of the guys from this. Uw WRESTLING PROMOTION IN JAPAN. Decided that Wrestling where you try to make it look real. It wasn't good enough. And they created a new organization called pancras which is named after the Greek Pan creation which was the ancient Greeks kind of no holds barred fighting and their premise was pretty pretty simple. It's like what if what if we did pro wrestling. Only it was real so it's like all the rules are pro wrestling to include like rope breaks and stuff like that Might have been falls but you know it's pro wrestling. There's no punches to the head. You know that that rule remains you can use open hand strikes but but everything is supposed to be real and that and that launched a couple of months before the UFC and So you know. I guess they had sent like of Ken. Ufc put out like an open call for for fighters you know from various disciplines and he shared some of his tapes from these wrestling promotions and He got the invite and showed up to UFC one in Colorado honestly thinking that it was going to be like this kind of pro wrestling. That looks real but has predetermined endings and and was pleasantly surprised to find out it was actual fighting and then strap a rocket ship to him. He becomes a huge star. Obviously the rivalry with GRACIE MAKES THEM. A big time star. At what point does the wwe start putting feelers out to get? Ken shamrock. Who has now become a known celebrity really to come over back to his professional wrestling roots. So Brad Hart is the guy that was the first kind of pointed out Ken to to the. Wwe He he saw candidate at an event in in like this guy has a lot of potential but shamrock wasn't really interested in coming back to pro wrestling until The the short version of it is the the UFC started to collapse You know the politicians and cable companies all turned against the John McCain. The senator powerful senator was staunchly anti UFC and so Everywhere they would go. There would be all these legal challenges. Where like the you know the the state or the city would say. You're not allowed to do this here. And they'd be in court until like literally the day after the event trying to get the event approved and then These cable companies pulled them off pay per view. And Pretty soon the only place that you could get. Ufc as if you had like a satellite dish you know. It wasn't available on regular pay-per-view to to cable customers. They just wouldn't show it. And so that that subsequently meant that they didn't have any money to pay guy like Ken who was starting to get used to making a couple of hundred thousand dollars a year from this and so The money started drying up. And that's when when thinking like. Hey I I I need something else you know. I've got kids to feed and so that was kind of when he started thinking about pro wrestling again and was lucky enough to be coming in at a. Just the right time because You know there was the brewing war between WCW and WWF and so he was able to create a little bit of a a bidding war situation. The the Japanese promotion new Japan pro wrestling also was interested in bringing him in as the headliner For for their Tokyo Dome shows and so he was able to get a really good deal with WWF and then You know just like that. He was gone from UFC and and so there was a pro wrestler again so now Ken. Shamrock is in the van wwf. He has his pro wrestling roots. So it's not like this. We've seen sort of mixed results anytime. Someone comes from outside of professional wrestling into professional wrestling particularly in the locker room. How was he welcomed by the boys in the back? I talked to a bunch of them. And you do worry about that. Especially because he's kind of outsider coming into a significant position because like like you said He. He didn't become the main event guy but he became a significant guy. An upper mid card guy that was sometimes made event. So there's usually some some jealousy that comes along with that but Pretty much to a person you know can fit right in you. Know he was one of the boys The the night scene. Wwf At the time was was pretty wild and rambunctious and With drugs and women and Just general craziness and Ken fit right into that. And so He was pretty quickly just. He was one of the guys on the road and everybody seemed to to to like and respect them and welcome. This is where most in the audience are probably wishing if they hadn't already that dam was doing the interview because Dan would seize right on the the drugs partying the women and I'm still sort of interested in like the political dynamic work in the back but was it out of control the partying. I have to ask as sort of follow up on that once. You throw it out there on a laboratory property. Yeah so I mean there was wildness. I mean Ken was married but like he didn't seem to do that so He was famous even amongst wrestlers for his the amount of drugs you could take and the women he would he would be with like multiple women at a time pretty much every night. He fell in with At least your web who plays his sister on the programming Ryan shamrock so that that made A. That's a good two extra levels when when we when you're doing it with your sister even if it's your TV sister that's a little bit weird even for pro wrestling and so all that was going on and it ties into what you're talking about though because His Some of his his nighttime proclivities actually affected the way he was seeing politically in wrestling because He missed an event which is something you just don't do you. Basically Didn't didn't get up. One morning. Missed his flight That happens sometimes. And it's fine if you're going to like Chicago or New York. There's always another flight. They were going to to New Mexico and there was no other flight and can miss the show and So that He. He was kind of fairly quickly Known as as a bit of a maker With with the the powers that be in the back. Geez.

"Look DC W legend. Tommy Dreamer look back on the territories and delve into Georgia championship wrestling. This busted opens remembering the territory special. Welcome to busted open remembering the territory's Georgia championship wrestling. And my tag team partner for all of the remembering the territory shows the innovator of violence the landlord of the House of hardcore himself the one and only Tommy Dreamer. Tommy how are you man? I'm Dune Great. This has been the hardest and be the best one ever hardest because I'm having communication problems with my stupidity Internet. I think Vincent Man is trying to buy my house and Black Black Whatever they were recording this because we want to talk about drudge championship wrestling Dave. I was also thinking about some of the things that we have been talking about. Have probably been the most dramatic things in mind and your life. When it comes to professional wrestling we talked about For me it would be closing. Vc W being number one the John. Stahl twenty twenty documentary. Black Saturday and the undertaker's streak losing and we've been covering a lot of this up until the undertaker streak and we're bringing back memories man I love it. Yeah and I think when you think of the territories especially Georgia championship wrestling a lot of memories. Come TO MIND. Georgia championship wrestling having a lot of advantages over the other territories. Tommy because as of hundred seventy two they were on W. TBS now is a different name at that point it was w t cj but superstation w TBS even though it was a regional territory. The show is seen nationwide for me. I remember like I before there was wrestling in my life. It was star wars and baseball the New York Yankees then Georgia Championship. Wrestling ruined my baseball career. Because I could care less about baseball because I had to watch wrestling and my Saturdays were now consumed with professional wrestling and for a regional territory. It blew up because of this vision of Ted Turner and his superstation. And you know it. It sucks that we don't have a lot of this footage because back in the day they would tape over the Beta tapes and the VCR tapes. You would just take over it because they cost money so it's almost like lost footage. The only way he could really really talking about ww has popped up with some of it. It's through the wrestling magazines and through crazy us or youtube where you watch it and it's just like man it was it was so simplistic in its form but everyone who was anyone went through there and you became a national star it was like going to the wwe. Today you could do. Indeed you can do other wrestling companies but once you set foot on the main stage of Georgia championship wrestling was getting push. You became an international recognized superstar and so much again into Anna comes to Georgia championship wrestling last week. We did mid south wrestling and I think a lot of people would say that was probably the best territory. I don't agree with that. I love mid South but it was not my favorite to watch people would say mid South but when you look at Georgia championship wrestling Tommy. It did give you that national exposure and as I mentioned you know going. Tv In one thousand nine hundred. Seventy two nineteen seventy six is when it became. Wcbs at the Georgia championship wrestling went to satellite and was the first NWEA promotion to go national. And it's and it's crazy to think about it. Dan because all promotions are national the way that TV is but you gotta think of a time when there was no cable TV and all everything was was your regional television. You know like if you lived in New Jersey. You only got stations around. That area thinks change throughout the seventies obviously in the eighties with cable. Tv But when you talk about a national product like Georgia championship wrestling and you look at TBS. You know one of the first faces I ever saw as a professional wrestling fan and somebody who is for a long time. The greatest voice and the face of professional wrestling to me was hall of Famer Gordon Solely Gordon solely was the storyteller Gordon solely was the rock of that promotion. I don't mean Dwayne Johnson. I meant he was the storyteller he was. You thought he was the biggest fixture of professional wrestling. He garnered those emotions with his Walter. Cronkite ask delivery of all this chaos. That was going on. He sold the stories to the viewer and I mean he was the voice of so many generations of wrestling. Until I WANNA say Jim Ross and Jim Ross has been the only person comparable to that Gordon solely was that voice in your right if I was gonna say the greatest voice in the history of pro wrestling. I would say Jim. Ross but Gordon solely was really Iraq and the foundation. And I'm sure in a lot of ways Jim. Ross would give a lot of credit to somebody like Gordon solely and I love what you said. That Gordon was A Storyteller Gordon Solely did sports play by play before getting involved in pro wrestling so he really brought that credibility and that's sports feel to his commentary and he called it like it was a real professional wrestling match. This was before the Times of you know twitter and social media and pay per views. You know he didn't even really promote those shows that the Omni that would be Freddie Miller that did that coming out or going in to commercials. Gordon solely did a wonderful job of bringing credibility to every single match. He talked about you. Know what body part a wrestler was was using. You know how is going to hurt that particular body part? How was GONNA wear that wrestler down you know leading up to the finish in a finisher at the end of that match and the best person I could kind of compare him to? Tommy was he was kind of like the PAT summerall of professional wrestling. You Know Pat summerall. Had that kind of just like kind of dry delivery. He told you what was going on. Didn't show any really over the top excitement because hey that was John Madden job in the case of Gordon solely. It was the wrestlers job. Show that passion and to show that excitement. That's why he was such a great interviewer too. But Gordon solely to me was the master. And that's going back and at the time Tommy when you only had the one commentator in Gord solely did a better than anyone else and that one man booth but as you said before Tommy it was also about the superstars that were in the ring as well and like every other regional promotion. There were stars that went in an out of Georgia championship wrestling but there was some mainstay stars. There was some stars. Tommy that when you think of Georgia championship wrestling if think particular wrestlers absolutely I mean you summarized it so well where all this chaos is going on and you had the calming voice. The I can relate to what I went through with Joey styles and Joey was never touched. Neither Gordon solely was touched. Once it turns one of the top heels baby face and was an amazing angle like and when you said the way he would invite all the other wrestlers in and there'd be fights going on around him and he wait a minute. I rather like all these like chaos and all this stuff going. You could always rely on Gordon to be the face slash the rock group all together for you as a young viewer or as even as an older viewer and when you think it a superstars like for you. Tommy as a fan of what? We're going to start that you think of when you think of Georgia championship wrestling. I mean right away. Tommy Rich The Road Warriors. The Armstrong's precious Paul Ella Ring so many people cut their teeth their early days the fabulous free birds Jimmy Snuka. The list goes on and on. Yeah and you know the one you mentioned Tommy Rich. That's who I think of. I talked about it so many times on busted open. Tommy the first wrestler. I ever seen the first time I ever watched pro wrestling. Was Tommy Wildfire Rich. The first feud I fell in love with was Tommy rich and Buzz Sawyer and again that goes back to that satellite and goes back to the exposure of Georgia championship wrestling at the time of those regional promotions living in New Jersey. Wwf should've been the promotion that I watched on a weekly basis but because of the power of WCBS and the power of Cable TV here Am Jersey Kid watching Georgia championship wrestling. But it really was about feuds it really was about the wrestlers and when you go back and watch Georgia championship wrestling from the late seventies and early eighties. You can see the differences in the crowd of those people that went to the. I'm the each and every week. It was an older crowd because once again you know we grow up in a time where it's gauged towards a younger audience but back at that time it definitely skewed older when you look at the audience. Tommy absolutely in the Omni was the Madison Square Garden. I didn't know anywhere growing up as a kid. I don't know anything about Atlantic's for the Atlanta braves and the Omni and the Omni was bigger to me and if you watch that program it was all infomercial for what was going to happen at the Omni or what was going to happen in Columbus. What was going to happen. And all those feuds and stuff the guys who go and do television and then go out there on the road and put asses in the seats and how you put us in the seats. Good wrestling storytelling and feuds and angles and we talked about how Georgia championship wrestling started in about them. Going the satellite in one thousand nine hundred seventy six in nineteen eighty two. They changed the name because of that national exposure even though is still regional Georgia championship wrestling. They changed the name of the show on TBS from Georgia Championship wrestling to world championship wrestling. And that's very very significant. When WE COME BACK TOMMY? Let's get into world championship wrestling. What happened in nineteen eighty eighty-two what happened in nineteen eighty three and what happened ultimately in one thousand nine hundred eighty four? We'll do all that when Tommy and I are back at remembering the territory's right here I'm busted open. You're listening to bust. It opens remembering the territories Georgia championship wrestling special only on Sirius. Xm Fight Nation Channel..

C. or something else I can watch MMA all day I am stunned by what these guys can do how well they can set up the shot how well they can set up the hill how will the consent of the submission how they can go from X. to Y. they know exactly where they are if the person does the moves this way you go that way if they go the other way you've got another thing they're thinking three steps ahead it is spec tacular can watch it all the time so I don't know how you can watch dress I mean I don't know maybe have kids okay the rest it would still I run I I'd rather do I'd rather watch MMA with the kids I would rather do anime with the kids across going to get a deal I'm the only guy left not getting a deal maybe it's because I just said I'd rather do MMA I would take that deal but I'm definitely going to get hurt definitely the dumbest headline of the day I don't know if the music for this but but we which we should this is Ross story which is a leftist leaning website faith healing mega church cancels hospital sessions over corona virus fears this is how Brad reed who's really a thinker starts off the story a megachurch in California that regularly conducts faith healing sessions at local hospitals apparently doesn't believe the power of prayer is strong enough to cure coronavirus I I I you can't actually be this daft and be allowed to drive a car can you I mean this guy walks around with a home and a jewel cut correct people gonna question without prayer works or studies about whether prayer works and certainly it's a calling thing to know that there are people out there thinking that you are thinking about you and wishing you well nobody gets hurt people actually get helped they should put themselves in a hospital setting as corona virus spreads and put themselves and others at risk of getting infected so Holla faith healers can't heal coronavirus they're not really that's that's your line manager Joe you are high Larry yes Brad reed at rawstory my gosh oh you thought this one through all the way no you're not going for the low hanging fruit.

"I know you listen to this show intently but I know you've also also been very busy. Man I wanted to Rosa and actually what I want I get because it's the David Greco power rankings. So I had fun to rose at five. He thought it should be Jon on Moxley for winning a number one contender's match on Wednesday night. Don't you feel winning a championship. Trump's somebody winning a number one contender ships match. Well they both won matches but yes one actually won the title as opposed to the other person. Who's winning the opportunity to win? That's right so If Jon Moxley wins that title than he should be on your parents. Oh I get to listen to the show I apologize. What were your rankings? Do you remember number five thunder Arosa number five was stunned. AROSA number four was Becky Lynch number three was defined Bray Y number two is Charlotte flaring. There are a number one was who we just spoke about. Drew McIntyre and Tommy Absent from those. That list would be Jon Moxley on the number one contender ship for Chris. Jericho's AWA number seven Kenny Omega and hangman. Adam page who on the for the Awa tag team champion numbers ever Awa title change. uh-huh by the way Keith Lee. Who on the next North American Championship on Annex Number Six? Wow yeah well. Hey it's his power rankings. I can see that but To his point he won. This is her first title on a major your platform. I know he's also begging for Thunder Rosa Calendar. I could drive up to our house if you wanted to try to steal one for you. She didn't want so it's not like I make my decisions based on what the people give me because people don't give me anything but grief and shit on drew McIntyre one who was to Charlotte flare you might revert vern daughter of Ric flair when the rumble on Sunday. Three Bray Wyatt the fiend. Your universal champion number. Four was Becky Lynn Role. Women's champion a number five year N W A women's champion Thunder Rosa. I would I would agree with your rank. Your power rankings. uh-huh I I am a little about the return of edge. I think that would be up there. But you know what he didn't win the Royal Rumble. But and then he was taken out after that but that would be my only critique of your rumbles. Good job of your ratings jobs thank you. Let's let's get to what's really really important and it's not my power rankings or bully. Ray's appearance on the bump. Later this morning we'll get into that at some point as well It is the return of edge. And we're GONNA get into a second. We'll get into what took place on Monday night but let's go back to the return of edge. Obviously a huge. Did you showing like you said at the rumble. I mean the I think the place was shaking when he came out at the royal rumble. Tommy I mean I mean I just the place he's popped. I mean I mean even even bigger than what we saw at the end with drew McIntyre when an just just an amazing moment for edge on Sunday absolutely and I will confess to a lot of fans I'm super duper close with edge. He had confided in me a long time ago that he was going back to. WWE Kinda laid some foundation kind of fantasy booking with each other and number one one when we talk about. There's a friendship that I love the guy and I would never betray that friendship For whatever rumor rumor speculation anything that comes out there and also I don't WanNa say I always open up Christmas presents on Christmas not on Christmas Eve and for when there was speculation. Going on around or all the social media buzz about it. Why why I know we liked to guess ask about it or even spoilers I cannot stand them so I've never going to one ruin? I wish he never told me because I wanted to. Let's see I wasn't sure he was going to debut at the rumble but that was what was on the table. But when you're and I'll talk about My relationship with Bubba to and bubble bubble returned at the Royal Rumble He literally calm texts. Me and wrote Fatty. Did you see what you think. And are Oh congratulations nations. And he's I talk to you later and here's a guy. I talked to like all the time that is how we are as professional wrestlers. who also have respect for our selves and our industry? And it's so close to the vest when I return to the WWE And I've told the story before when we talk about when when I went to Russell with drew McIntyre you know at the slam. He's I literally was driving home from the gym. And then triple h had called me and then he was okay. You WanNa come to Philly to wrestle tonight and I'm like Okay bubble will blah. The only person I told at that time was Beulah and just kept it under wraps and even when I get there like then people in the company to hey are you you here. I was hiding. I was hiding in a bus and it was just so that element of surprise. I don't feel it's deceiving the fans because the end result is wow I got to see something special We joke about it but I was never so mad and I still we talk about it like when I did not get tickets to the Omni to see buzz sawyer versus Tommy rich and I got a millennial Falcon millennial a hell of a gift. But I wanted something else and I knew I was also getting the Millennium Falcon because I found by Christmas present before it was Christmas. So that's kind of always been my philosophy about keeping stuff under wraps and if anybody's out there listening that works for wwe. And if you've ever leaked out a spoiler alert and you're not a wrestler or your You have news and confidentiality. There are so many ways to find Out and if it was my company I would fire you quicker than I could fire anybody else and if it was my justice I would Singapore cane you out the door or as hard as I can many many times because to me it ruins it for the fans and there's no payoff for that to say. Hey by the way. This person is confirmed to be there. There's no payoff for it. So that's that now getting angry. No San Diego I gotTa Chill The Sun. His rising over the mountains. It's beautiful I live in the Hoya GonNa go surfing. You know what it's IT'S A. I'm I'M GONNA try to say I'm I'M GONNA try to be the same as you and and stay. They come because it's something that's obviously a bit of a virus throughout the whole wrestling community. Tommy where you know and people talk about about the dirt sheets and like I don't know there's a lot of credible websites out there that I go to when preparing for this show the get information shen and stats and such. You know to help me along with the narrative while we're talking about these certain issues but one thing that Doug Morton and I declared glared early on in this show is that we're not GonNa do spoilers and you never hear on busted open a spoiling an outcome of a match at a TV v Taping. You know we never go into any of those things at all. That's not something that we wanted wanted to do. And it's something that I do not want to do on this show. I'll never understand why you know. Certain writers feel the need to spoil things and we see it all the time. You know storylines. I said. I'm sure people like you. Tommy work very very hard on there. Is You know. Obviously a staff of writers such that put something together that I have a theme and a story that they're working on that takes weeks to work on and will take weeks to play out and then somebody's spoils it. You know for everybody. Everybody and then honestly completely ruins the surprise and leading up to what we saw on Sunday at the royal rumble. I saw a ton of spoilers spoilers that I avoided and I just will never understand. That would be like you know a big movie that you can't wait to see and somebody like sending ending out the script of a movie like you know I'll do something that's very very close to the wrestling community arts and that Star Wars. I'm not I'm not the biggest star wars fan but I know a lot of wrestlers and a lot of writers. Are you know that would be like you know spoiling the script of a movie. You know a week before it came out I will never understand understand why people would enjoy reading it and I would never understand why they feel the need for certain riders to put that stuff out there. If I told you that at the forty niners are going to beat the chiefs on Sunday by the score of thirty eight to thirty five. Would you watch the game. I would not some people might. Some people would just to see if I was correct if I also told you oh by the way One of the forty nine ers is going to get hurt and Jerry. Rice's going to show up and catch a few balls balls. And he's GonNa score a touchdown be cool. That would maybe people watch but it's still the super bowl. Why ruin surprises? Why because it doesn't get that same reaction or you'll just get the person who says oh I knew he was coming and then there the bidder negative person like a straight up Santino I I had heard Santana was confirmed to be in the rumble however that confirmation came that person is a leak? That person is a leak in your company in that person should be. Terminated emanate from their job because they don't have enough respect for their job slash the wrestling fans to be there and it's unfortunate and again I I don't want to go on a rant because I could. I could go on the screaming rant. And don't I'm not GonNa do it because it's real. She'd yeah that's true you know how would want you to be your joy. It will make some good video footage. Honestly I just. I'm more disappointed than I am angry about it. And like you said that also means that there are certain people within the company that's leaking out and that even boggles my mind because at least you know a writer. Our website are getting in clicks for their website. It helps them but I would never understand why somebody who actually works for the company would do something like that like what. What did they possibly get from? I'm doing something like that Nothing they because if you're giving and I've told this to people and yes I don't even want to say it's an old school value because I'm shocked to learn who talks more and more to people on social media about insider stuff I it's in your worst day of your life. If something bad happens to you. They're still going to report it no matter if you have a friendship with them or not and may go with news used you may not want out there and because that's their job and that's how they make a living so how not saying don't support it but there's no no reason for it and I used to have. I used to fight with Paul Heyman a lot because he would leak stuff to the Internet during e C W and when I confronted him on it and this was back when the Internet wasn't as accessible and he was you know why because I want to catch a buzz for the company. 'CAUSE we're sold out and I can't get any more people in the building so I want people to continue say man. I have to be there that I kind of agreed with also guess what it was his company so he was the boss didn't Company didn't continue. Not Saying that was the cause of there was many many causes. But when you're the boss you can do whatever the hell you want. Oh you know the super bowl or your favorite team a lot of times. We're happy we're not happy with management. It's a different generation But it's it's just. There is no ultimate payoff for who the most important people.

"Look at Sammy Callahan. Kinda reminds me of somebody that I I I saw when I first put on TV for the first time. Watch pro wrestling. The first person I ever saw was mad dog buzz Sawyer. Sammy Callahan reminds me a little a bit of mad dog buzzer. I believe mad dog. Buzzer was an influence with you early on in your career. Do you see that with Sammy and tell me as some stories you gotTa have some Buzz Sawyer Stories. Of course I do I don't know enough about Sammy to compare him to Bud uh-huh. I do know he's very talented and he looks very very strong. which is going to be a problem for cage cages usually pretty strong very acrobatic great eight great worker but that should be pretty challenging match for Brian so we'll see what happens but with the with buzz I remember it was at towards towards the end of his career. He's still going over to Japan and he would bring guys up. I came up there because I wanted you progressing. I just finished playing ball in college. my dad had turned me on a pro wrestling and I said Yeah give that a shot so we would drive up from Reno to Sacramento and we were supposed to go to his his is gem while his Jim was the park has I down the street from his house and so he would go out there and the first battle maybe the first couple of weeks we go down on the weekends and and run and doing pushups and just doing conditioning and then he brought me aside and News House Office he goes. Hey I got this thing. I want. I want you to do because I don tough bands and I was shooter and shooter means somebody that's wrestler fighter guy that can take guys listen beat him up in the ring well but says listen. I'm getting twelve hundred to fifteen hundred dollars from each person that comes in and he goes man. I'm getting old old. I gotta go to Japan. I gotTa do all these other things and he says I need to take over and and shoot on these guys. Go take them down like Russell and he goes no make him quit. Okay quite not man. He says I don't want him to pass says they gotta go and if they give up in in an amount it's thirty minutes or whatever whatever time limit was if they don't make it then they're out and so. I said okay so we go to the park four guys. This show up to these guys were like was called horse. Big Old muscular played football. I think I weighed probably about two fifteen at the time I was always strong benched somewhere six hundred pounds as really really strong and has great wrestler a great fighter and so these guys would come in and and buzzword hit the clock okay okay go out in the middle of this park and so I started beating the hell out of these guys and they would quit each of them quit well then I found out afterwards that they had all paid twelve hundred to fifteen eight hundred dollars. I didn't know that will buzz was kicked me three hundred dollars each time I did it. I was like Oh cool gas money and some food you know coming down here but I wasn't learning anything right. He was just shooting is and he would go to Japan every so often is probably would come in and he would run the classes and just speak is up you know at the oldest mckearney mckearney way this is amazing so people would join buzz sawyers wrestling school pay fifteen hundred bucks and then they will get thirty minutes with you. beat the. Shit Shit out of us. They quit and keep the money I mean well then that came to me not my father basically because he was the one pushing me said we're not learning anything here. It wasn't but two weeks after we decided to go somewhere else buzzed died he oh deed he had a bad a bad issue with uh with cocaine and I guess he went into a nightclub and he hadn't paid the right person or done something because he was a tough dude right so when he took stuff from some people he didn't care. He just took a few. You Ain't going to get it back and well I adding somebody gave him a hotshot. Damn Feld and found him in the bathroom on the floor dead and so we had already made plans to be going down to Nelson royals and it was Nelson Gene Anderson's North Carolina where I did another tryout and it's funny because when I was down there doing this tryout they had was running doing things that buzz was doing and then at the end of the tryout they had the shooter come in and I was like oh no they ain't no and so I remember doing these things we were in this cow pit. He had this land out there and he had us running running right well. Tommy Tommy Angel I was running and I went all the way up and I touched the line but I didn't go all the way down. Iran bag and I was blown everybody away and as I get the time he goes do it over and I was like oh he goes you touchline do it overnight already done like ten of them. So I said Okay Boom I did another one did ten more no problem so it seemed like they were picking on me right like they're trying to get me to quit and so we get into the wrestling and this do comes in and he's probably about got to forty not muscular beg and he's probably about six foot my height a little bit and so they said. Okay twenty minutes and I'm begging can you guys have no idea what's coming here. So we go at it. Do is pretty good right. There's no questions pretty good but we got into in about fifteen minutes and I started taken over on him and then I just thought them beat them up and so I passed right but and we paid money thirty five hundred for this for his we drove all the way up there Mooresville Mooresville thirty five hundred for this and I was like I ain't you guys are not making me quit so I beat this dude up and and there was a couple of the guys even when they lost right they still lost lost but they still passed so all you know they were just beaten guys. I'm taking their money. They just WANNA make sure they're tough and I think most restaurants no this back can that day people didn't do pro wrestling unless they were tough. You had to pass tryouts. You had to go through certain things in order to make these different schools that rat because SMU wants to do is go nightclub. Get Your Butt chicken you carrying there strap so it was it was interesting to me six months later. I was carrying that strap. I mean I just pick it up so fast and end up going to WWF for a couple of house shows and over to Japan to me awesome. It's amazing story. I love it. I love it Moose in trouble. Yeah my big problem can came back was because Kennedy just a little older than me and I'm forty eight and he's he's in such great shape. He really has raised the bar for older wrestlers and I'm like do now. I gotTa really start working. We'll get him back in. I'm trying to marry him. Tactic nominal walks in with a tank top. He's free and I think him Billy Gunn like the two best bodied frigging guys and wrestling right now. It's easy. It's amazing. You are in phenomenal shape and again making me look that you need to be because come October twentieth stepping in the ring with moves again impact bound for glory Sunday October Twentieth in Chicago for tickets go to impact wrestling dot com and for all information once we get past bound for glory. The impact wrestling is making the move to access TV see Ken Shamrock See Tessa Blanchard see Sammy Cowan see Moose Brian Gage a lot to to be excited. If you're a pro wrestling fan because impact wrestling is back and man they are making major changes in this move to access. TV is a big one and bound for glory their biggest show of the year. Can it's been an I mean. We could talk to you for our. Let me only throw something quick. I know we've been talking. You know mad about Moose but you know I didn't know who he was. When when we first started getting into this I thought he was some punk guy which I still think he's a punk but ah listen you cannot take away from this guy skills. This guy's good so I know and I'm not taking him lightly man done that before and I got my ass kicked so I'm not taking taking him. Lightly in this guy is very talented. He's very athletic and so there's no mandate anybody impact anybody that is in in impact wrestling knows that this guy is no joke. He may not be the best guy in the world but he is very talented and so come from bound for glory. I will be ready also also too. I want to bring up the September twenty first Valor bareknuckle which is just a weak way man. It's GONNA be awesome. It's bare knuckle fighting. I'm I'm launching that as my business fact is I'm really looking forward to this thing moving out September twenty first valor. Bk You can get it on any of the pay per view networks and fight TV streaming on your your phone but I did this for a reason because I truly believe that bareknuckle its own beast and that just like we were talking about earlier. If you're tough guy you've bar. You're bouncing bars or that. You just tough guy. You're you've got your one hundred. No one street fights and you're tough bare. Knuckle is the kind of thing eh pro wrestlers that may fighters boxers are all even nobody has the advantage because it is a street fight and in a street fight. You're not not going to the ground. You're not trying to pull off these submissions in boxing. You don't have anything to protect your hands. You have nothing to be able to block with so it's its own beast man. I'm looking forward to this thing taken taken off and I look forward to grab some wrestlers and getting in there and then throwing down because I've seen some guys that are pretty damn tough in pro wrestling and love to see them get in Eh bare knuckle. Tommy we think I go back to the days of Filo Beddoe Afri- I turn that's awesome. Thank you so much for the time and it's been an absolute pleasure. You're welcome here anytime can't believe ten years that we've been doing this. Show is the first time you've been busted on busted open and it's been an absolute pleasure. Thank you so much. I appreciate both guys. Tommy and I appreciate you guys. Thank you very much if you don't know Sirius.

"I guess they could just like do a big swerve and it turns out that i don't know rousseff was the guy but i'm pretty sure we're gonna get roman reigns brazil daniel bryan probably going to get it ah the clash of the champions but they may wait till hell in a cell so that was the idea they were supposed to wrestle at summer slam. They decided they were going to do this. Compelling angle old to make people more interested in the match. You can let me know whether you agree with that or not but that was the idea so there you go if they're planning on doing a firefly funhouse. Hell sell that to me. I understand theme to pay per views. I don't like them but i understand them. There is no need. I need to do something with gray white. Do something different with helen the cell to have any body else in that match. There are zillions stipulations. You can do at a zillion zillion times including right on that paper view to me if you're going to do anything with brea wide inside that cage and you're going to call it the firefly fun house or whatever twisted turn. You're going to put on it. No one else should be involved in that structure that it's just that's ludicrous to me all right. This person says when dave said shops fired a few weeks ago was he referring too big a cast and enzo now nothing to do with big cast and it'll come on and he also knows that keith leeann digest had an incredible cruiserweight match match. They always do that's their thing and this is no offense to either guy but like you talk about like tommy rich and buzz sawyer joined at the hip hip forever. I mean they get no buzz away. From each other. I know digest was out for a while but i mean they are tailor made for each other. They have done everything and they are perfectly in tune so yeah i would. I would believe that they were going to have that type of matching keithly that that's an interesting one you know one of the reasons that both of those guys got to where they were so fast was because of their absolutely unbelievable athleticism for how they look and how they come across with the guys that they're facing in the ring and i'm interested because it's still real early in the game yet for the most part with both guys if that's ever going to translate and if they're ever going to be able to get a bigger spot next team able to to crack and break out i says and i've had many people ask this. What are the chances that harper is involved the reins and brian story listen anything anything is possible when it involves somebody who was under contract for the company company. All i know is at harper was off t._v. For a long time and harper returned at w._w._e. Access and he had a match and for whatever reason a story i heard was vince really didn't like it and he decided that he was done with harper and we we have not seen harper since i don't know what's going on vince has been done with people a thousand times. I mean for crying out loud. He's he's given up on. Bobby rude like three times now now and now bobby route is is in line for the taking anything is possible but i do not think that when this story was designed the idea was that luke harper was going only to be involved but who knows call eight four four four eleven five four eleven eight four four four eleven five four eleven president..

"The late nineties early two thousand zone. We'll take it back that for back in the eighties. They like I think brute by Faberge. I think was one of theirs. What else they add some interest, always wants? Lord. Alfred Hayes reading off at the end of the show, the mobile, I think was one of them as well. Too think that they've been for Madison Square Garden, though, they can't actually claim that as a sponsor that was just one of those ones MSG head when WW play on there. They just played a role of commercials already already bought and paid for. So guess it can't give him that one but stop in grounds. Yeah. Tacoma dome. Tacoma. Washington, Brian is not happy to be there will be less happy to be in Everett Washington tomorrow. For Monday night, raw. He says he may be there. He Dave did a show last night for subscribers over wrestling, observer dot com. Little bit of a preview of tonight show drops of knowledge as well to knowledge that Dave is going to check on for Brian. Brian reported. You didn't hear this or not? The reason we got a bunch of two out of three falls matches. On Ron smackdown last week is that there was a decree that there's no Maresca during commercial breaks. I don't know what there will be. There will be just one being rest, hold. I don't know if the referee will come out and, and like blow time and people will run out with Gatorade bottles, and it can be like the round system. I have no idea. I'm assuming it's going to be one long rest hold, but yeah, no wrestling can take place. That'll show him. I don't know how that helps anything but we'll find out. It's one of the reasons Brian wants to get to the show like you said, Dave is going to be checking on that form but yeah, WWE beautiful weather, where I was at this weekend in the mid Atlantic. You see northern end of the wrestling version of mid Atlantic, but the actual the southern end of the real mid Atlantic here in the beautiful Delmarva area, and with that nice weather, there's nice mid Atlantic. Wrestling that was dropped on the network spoke a little bit about it last week. And a lot of you have delved into that the Crockett Cup being one of those things and light the thing I helped that out a little bit with the drop kick that I have remembered ever since nineteen Eighty-six of buzz Sawyer, taking a drop kick in the face from CoCo beware looking like he's Levitz flying out of the ring a bumpy would actually do quite often in the small rings over Georgia championship wrestling. I mean he could. There's buzz Sawyer could sell it was one thing. Buzz Sawyer was not exactly the the best person outside of the ring a little bit of a personal Ness, but he was all motor inside. Ring is really something else in a star for a very very long times. W TBS TV became a national television outlet. He rode that wave along with Tommy, rich and only Anderson, dusty roads and so many others. From from Georgia, and had another run in the late eighties early nineties WCW alongside Kevin Sullivan and Gary Hart, and, and those guys in the eight nine each in h but whatever Gary Hart's group that he had there at the time with Terry phone J J, or whatever it was incorporated, that he had there being a member of that, with the dragon master and the great mood in feuds with RIC flair and staying. And it was really some awesome stuff in both Sawyer is one of those guys again, you know not not exactly the best. Person in the world. But as a wrestler was really, really something else. And a lot of people had a chance to see that, that footage I put up there that, that clip. I g it's put up there and one hundred twenty thousand or something like that. So I wanna thank you at separate EV is, is where you could find that. And it's also where I could find that you can find that poll that I told you about at the beginning of the show, it's going to rental Monday show, about three pm eastern and listen. I don't need any free styling to this or any exchanges or substitution or what about s-? None of that stuff. You just pick one of four. I thought about this. When Brian and I were kind of talking about who WWE is pushing us a star last week, and, you know, the dismissal of Seth Rollins and I wouldn't dismiss Seth Rollins, you know, and I was trying to think about who could be who could kind of be parallels that I could put up a poll and thinking, okay, what's one person that you would wanna build build around who's the number one pick. The NHL had their draft this weekend. The NBA just had there is a couple of days ago. Major league baseball in the NFL weren't all that long ago with their drafts. It's, it's springtime, and it was kind of thinking the same thing, and I'm sure I could have put somebody from Mexico in the long shot spot that, that can tell me a HARA is in, but I'm far more versed in Miyahara and why he could be a top big building block. So I decided to put him in there, but WWE, Seth Rollins AWS Kenya, mega new, Japan's will spray. And all Japan's can to me are. Which one of those four not anybody else, not Roman reigns. Not Cody not Okada not anybody else. Those four if you could only choose one who would you take?.

"So he Shang Eric young looks like a buzzard while that's cold. I like I would. I mean, it's it's tough. Because when you look at no way, Jose and. Not fun who Adam ADEMA. Who's the guy who had the oddities with him? Oh, gosh. No, no, not no not not way back then just two years ago from developmental. Oh, Adam Umbro's. Thank you. I just I kept had Adam Cole is the only name much the rose. But thank you. Yes. So I don't want to have a bunch of just wacky people parading to the ring with him like the robots or the, what's what's know? Jose's crew called the Rosebud rejects. Yes. No, no. But what's honestly have no idea? I just referred to the goof troop every time they call them something. The it's a nice I won't. Very fair. So. I don't wanna see him with just that kind of stuff. But if he has, you know, it's kind of like undisputed era or Shane debase or you're talking about. He's got a few cohorts kind of fit two three four they wrestle. They're not just sidekicks or or a Congo line. That's it part of a parade of just people who aren't ringside acting goofy. Like, I think there's potential there because the original wide family had more potential than than than than Vincent, man. Took advantage of. So NICKY cross. It'd be good to play off of him. Eric young is has untapped talent. In WWE, tried to take on a more serious role. Was it like five years ago? He won the world title. Oh, he was there. Jericho wasn't. He he was doing some. It was like, yeah. He's doing worldy lead. And it was just bizarre. Oh, there was that. And then he kind of became their Daniel Bryan danube-rhine won the belt than they said. Well, your. Yeah. That's the one. Yeah. And then you had him. And I thought he's sort of mad dog buzz Sawyer when he went he'll and Dixie Carter was all excited about the new the new reboots of Eric young. It was like I'm mad dog. I don't even know if they knew he was mad dog. But sorry, but he was playing essentially earns you Dixie Carter didn't know that. Right. I do too. Yeah. And an Eric young hat has just comedic talent to kind of like say once was doing his singer ruined. A better job with stuff. I'm a big fan of Eric rages character. I think him in that setting as Chad brings up would would be a lot of fun. I think have giving Bray wide. So some characters to play off of make sense in my God. I think the key cross who sort of seems like this grownup little girl, who's got a psycho side tour that that's a good. That's a good fit. In in poor NICKY cross has has yet to be assigned to a brand at last check. I know. I if you're going to add be letting Nikki crosses great for. There was a lot of suspicion with sanity was eventually going to become like, the new Wyatt family like gray y when ended up leading them, and then that's not happening because Alexandra wolf isn't on the main roster anymore. But. Hey, Killian, Dane could still be a monster. They wanted to bring him on. He needs something. So yeah, I Sullivan eventually linking up with or air grow. And if Danny Bryan's gone for a while reuniting. I don't know. Yeah. I mean, I just I like the I grew up with devastation Inc. Scandal Akbar in the sheiks army and the Bobby Heenan family, and Gary Hart's first or Jimmy Hart at the first family. What did Gary Hart half Gary Hart had the Gary Hart family? I dunno. Everyone's yeah, I'm trying to think of what it was. I got what we're his nickname. There was something. I can't remember whatever something is it something internet now that was devastation corporate was I can't remember. But they all you know, I grew up watching wrestling where there were factions and the legion of doom wasn't the new name for the road warriors. It was the name for the faction that the roadways were part of with Paul Ellery and kick money Jake Roberts. I I would like to see that..

"Focus on the second part of the conversation that looks at his time and UFC pan craze shoot fighting Japan as well as some pro wrestling and speaking of pro wrestling, I was not aware with regard to Ken shamrock that he was trained in part by buzz Sawyer who've never seen buzz Sawyer perform he was a wild man inside and outside the ring and crazy good talent. But candid cut his. Teeth in the Carolinas in the early nineties wrestling as Vince Torelli, which I remember from pro wrestling illustrated and the rankings. They would often report about a guy named Vince Torelli who is the champion in south Atlantic pro wrestling, but Stephen Kent talk about cans entrance into the shoot fighting world as well as rivalry with Heus Gracie competing at the very first UFC fighting and pancreas Japan. Lots of crazy stories and interesting insights from Ken about the shoot fighting world. So there's definitely ought to dig into. For today's episode this day Steve Austin history today, being February twenty first we start off in nineteen Ninety-three in Asheville North Carolina at super brawl three Steve Austin, and Brian film and defeated Markelle Zander Bagwell, and Erik watts then we move onto nineteen ninety five in Gainesville Georgia Steve Austin after a three month hiatus from WCW comes back at W W pro taping to defeat John Krystal. "You can and early nineties to two degree, but guilty got for the most part the way Debussy w work back when I was there. You got a one minute go home q., and that's why there was no really tremendous comebacks by and large. I'm just not a blanket statement to the matches guys really thinking or ahead of of all the rest of the boys, which I wasn't. You got a minute, go home, q. gas, art, babyfaced artists come back and you went home. It was, you can watch it shit. There was not nearly as many false finishes back in those days as there are in the last ten to fifteen years, but especially now no big Pat Patterson. Oh. This is in Florida. Yeah, that might have been more more how show oriented, but as far as the television product, my point is that's how simple it was back. Then these days and more power to the generations that have come since you and I have been out of the game for the most part, how everything has you kind of volved and dude. Not even ricochet. Well, Rick. Probably like said the last week podcast. Probably the best Atlit ever seen in ring. Yeah, but hard argue that blanket same. And I think that the guys and girls, especially the girls, obviously because there wasn't that many when you were around since anal Sherry. I mean, we had, you know, the generation of women we were with, but man, the women are obviously way better athletes do. The guys are so much more athletic than I was or triple h was Sean would be at the head of the classes. Well, you're really good athlete, but I was. Was that it was from from the seventies to eighties. And when I say that you always had your dynamite kids, you know, people like that who are bad, asses, and great, but the Atlantic ability these days, is there much more well rounded athletes than we? Were you think that it's because we're like the business, then histories attracting the like the one of the world class athletes from different sports now, or is it just Lucien of the human of human beings? I think evolution of human beings and evolution of the business just getting a little bit more on what to say acrobatic, but at athletic. Yeah, but the best way I say 'cause I mean, dude, you know, back in the day from your your dick, the bruiser days crusher man. What a guys locking up grabbing headlock. You know soon again for tackle nowhere going down, lock up, grab a headlock again. I mean, yeah, it's it's, it's told over ballgame. I Steve. I've been going back on on on YouTube and somebody put up some early eighties TBS like, you know, the stuff Gordon soleus to Commodore on Georgia championship wrestling, and then it turned into world championship wrestling man. Like I was watching some of that. I've been watching a lot of and it's real simple on that. And you know, there's a lot of walking and tongue in there, but man, some of that stuff is great, like buzz Sawyer in his early days while I have you seen any of that stuff now, I don't know if I know what you're talking about, but I mean, I remember it's just all the old shows buzz buzz Sawyer was like. This is when probably before the business got exposed, but did you thought I was shoot? Yeah. Dog. Yeah. And from from the accounts that I've heard of, do brother wasn't all there? No. Well, he was all over the place because of certain things, but certainly a mad dog. Yeah. But if you're if you're gonna be flipping channels on TV and buzzes on, and someone had told you wrestling was fake. You would see buzzing? No eight and not. That was. Yeah. No, I to me I don't know what brought me out lie about that up, but his stuff look as good as anyone's in the business to me at that time.
