"I remember one of my first weekends. As a as a sportswriter in tennessee. Abc came for the alabama game or the auburn auburn game and i went and interviewed the the abc crew. And they may. They weren't coming back again that year. I mean you had them once and maybe you got a road game. This is not like what we have today and you know again. That's you know again. We're going old school. But that's how all this began at the time though. Abc did not only espn. Espn did not begin. Until what seventy nine. Yeah with australian rules football. Let's talk to bobby who's in saint augustine. Hello body could even bought the for taking my call. Thank you those were two great calls The to you just add Fantastic What i wanted to ask. You is tennessee has a a. I think home at home schedule. With oklahoma is the first source of what twenty three or twenty. Four is that right. i'll have to check. I mean they had a couple of years ago. I do remember that. Tennessee should've beaten oklahoma five or six years ago. That was that was one of those game. I think that that ended butch jones career there because they had a they had a ten point lead. I think and let it all slip away at home. Thank you for ruining my thursday nights there. I really appreciate that you remember the by the yo- yeah vividly I guess my question. Is they have the game scheduling. What twenty four. If oklahoma comes to the conference before then what happens to that game get shifted to goes off the board. Yeah alabama alabama has a game of texas too. I think it was next year. That was thousand thousand. My other question is what other. Sec teams Game scheduled in weapons. Yeah i mean. These games are scheduled as as non conference game so they will. They will go. they'll be gone. Okay all right thank you hope. You have a really good thank you. Yeah it did not bother. I didn't mean to ruin your day. I bet we ruined butch jones's day even worse. Bill is up next hello bell. Hey hey there. Math.
Vols firing Pruitt with cause after investigation
"Butch jones suddenly looking better. Jeremy pruitt gone today. John joining us. These senior sports editor at aol dot com and john. It is great to have you with us. We've talked about the possibility that pruitt would be gone. He is now gone. Fulmer out as well. Your reaction another stunning day on rocky. Top back on again paul. You know. I think that the part that i guess is maybe the most surprising to me is the phil fulmer component Because as you know we talked about the past you know there's obviously been you know. Rumors swirling about tennessee. Possibly moving on from jeremy pruitt for a while. I think a lot of people in the industry thought when that first report came out that tennessee was looking into Potential recruiting violations under pruitt that was signaling that they would like to fire pruitt with 'cause a four forecast which you know they've made very clear that is what they are doing. The former component is a little different because he is such legendary person with that blake department From his time as a football coach and you saw today in that press conference just the these university leaders really going out of their way to praise him and talk about how he's at tennessee. Ledge all those different things. So i think you know fomer kind of getting pushed aside Calling it a retirement. But i think there's a little more to that is probably the most interesting component of this to me because now it means you not only have to fire new. Find a new football coach but you also have to find a new ad. Do you think john. It was the contract extension. That former gave jeremy pruitt attorney was the final tipping point for him. I would imagine it's probably a lot of different you components to it because you know hey we have to remember this. Was you know fomer higher to begin with you know as that whole crazy. Coaching search point out and former becomes. Ad then hires jeremy pruitt. I also think. I mean if you were watching that press conference today paul. You know felt like you know so. It's still in some ways defending pruitt. They're asking him about how pruitt would be remembered and he talks about how you know recruiting had been good Which is obviously ironic considering that they fired him in part because of recruiting violations and fired nine people in total also tied the recruiting department But also just the way that he was talking about how pro had rebuilt relationships and all these different things it felt like to me at least that former was not out on pruitt as a higher to that point. So you know part of it could have been simply that you feel wasn't ready to move on from pruitt and it s part became what we're gonna make just wholesale changes here and i think if you remember paul you know one of the reasons why earlier in the year before we knew about all these recruiting violations. I was always a little skeptical. Pruitt getting fired in part because it would reflect poorly on former. And i didn't think four would want to move on from his higher Like you said he just gave an extension to after only three seasons as the head coach

"I love the 60 games. Sprint had me too. I think it's cool. I know it's not the way they wanted it. They go down. I just think that you have every team every fan base is involved here. What's a counter argument to 60 games that it's too big an Asterix? Well, Can we stop with the Astors? Don't tell me to stop the ass trick with 60 games. I would love to have baseball implement of 100 game schedule. 1 62 is just too long. No. You know you got you want excitement. 60 is too short. But you want excitement. You want the games to mean something? Games don't mean much. And you're gonna have everybody involved. Let's say you win seven or eight games in a row. All of a sudden you're looking at making the plans small market teams, We're going to have a chance. This is an ideal. We can all agree on that. But while we have it Let's find out something that we can enjoy with it, and that's part of it that you're going tohave teams may be getting a chance to stay involved in a playoff chase a pennant race than they How many teams do we write off that the beginning of the year? Getting in there you to say no, No, no. No, maybe. No, No. Maybe Yeah, and I got the baseball standings from a year ago late July 15 of the 30 teams were at least 14 games out of first and then meant they're basically no longer playoff eligible half of the league and half the league's fan bases were just watching games for Pastime because their teams we're not really in it now. Everyone's in it. I think it'll be fun. I mean, I have to look at, so I had to be optimistic with something. I'm starving for something right? Give me 60 games. Give me a sprint. You know that we have favorite restaurants. Now you're just looking for any restaurant That's open. That's my feeling with Major League baseball. By the way, did Coach Pruitt want to come on the show? Just a little. He was doing something I don't know. I felt like I was interrogating him is a super focused on is that what it is? I couldn't even get Tennessee Orange on here. Fair question about the wardrobe. Yeah, thank you to all of a sudden I'm going. Oh, short answers here. Does he want to be on We're going to take it one game at a time. Yeah, I'm taking it one question at a time there. Waiting for coach to expound upon When I said Give me the guy toughest to prepare for now, whereas in the past no, no, I need a little help here and I don't think you were trying were asked him to compare himself to the abilities of Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady. And I think you were going what kind of player he wasn't run or that you stay in the Pi was trying to be a little playful their time. I was wasn't biting has no, he was not. Maybe I shouldn't have led with 100,000 fans in the stadium. And how often do you really think that's gonna happen? Ah! If I would have started out with Hey, I'm surprised you're wearing dark colors. Maybe that would have been. You're usually good that you like in the mood early on before you get to the heart. I get asking how's morale and I think he said good, good. I think he was on a word count to be fair to coach you know, defensive minded coach How are you a quarterback and you become a defensive coach. I would find that interesting defensive coordinator every defense. Belle eject just called and said, Man, can that guy talk? Yes, boys. I'll play Devil's Advocate, though. He's doing some good work. You know. Derek Dooley was entertaining interview Butch Jones was the entertaining interview your balls, man. I'll take the quiet guy in an assassin. Oh, I know that but I don't care about the vault fan who goes eight. Didn't say anything. I care about this damn show. I got people all around the country going. Yes, Tom. You have to rest your voice a little bit with all the screaming and yelling that goes on during the course of the season. You can't just burn out your vocal calls in an interview with you on July 1st on, I know we want him to a Stress himself a little better and July 1st, too. Place yourself. Thank you, Todd. No, it means you just wonder, though, that like many books and sits down in the living room like he's having like the most baller recruiting class of all. Do you want to play for us? Let's go. Do you think he's a Steve Balmer type? You know, I think like the kids I had of the kids get so fired up like dude. So did you want to play for us? Yes, I do Sign right now. Now they've had a great recruiting class. They've got another great recruiting class. But then I was wondering that when I'm asked, you know if I start to talk to him and thinking, how do you close these guys? Mike. Coach arrives. A bulldozer? Yeah, you know, And I gotta believe, saving his sneaky, funny and playful little bit there or he just wears for over five rings. Everyone forgot how many But ah Yeah, I think we have a really exciting program. And I think that would be a great fit. Well, what we're trying to accomplish with our goals in the future. How would you like to come be a volunteer? And he said we're on to sing tonight and I have been playing check. You're not playing the bad guy, you know. They're all that tailgate. We tried. We tried. We tried. You know when we have people on. I just thought he's having a good, you know. Good start there. They've certainly had some Get Julie and you had Jones there and they've had talent that goes through there. It's almost like Tennessee is a little bit like l s u at least was where you go, man. Tennessee got a lot of athletes come through there. But they didn't have the success team was yes. I'll tell you one thing that is keep running through all the conferences and going around of Ah, 17 national championships in a row. There's one interview. I'm not doing everything right here. Right here. That guy. Get lost. If they win the national title. I'm in trouble. I'm screwed. Hey, what if we could have coach out of Jerry permits? The next next save it and we never talked to.

"Thanks for the call hate to run. Let's check in with Wayne in Memphis. You're not you're up next. Hey, wayne. How 'bout college football analysts fall does Tennessee or any of SEC school have any of these college football analyst on their staff? I think they do. I don't I don't think anyone has the number that that Alabama does. But but everyone's able to everyone certainly capable of having as many as they want or at least within reason. So Tennessee has one other words. Yeah. I I don't I mean, I know that Alabama's a really good question though. I don't I don't know about. Other schools. All right question. Number two. Major Applewhite and Butch Jones. Are they analysts for offense or defense or everything? I would think the major Applewhite Butch Jones our offense of analysts. Three. Are they involved in recruiting at all? No, they are not do. They question. Four in the last question. Do they get paid anything? Right. Are they just own their batting their time as they collect from their college is separated from listen. I don't want to make this. They're they're paid a a small number compared to other coaching salaries. It's large compared to what most of us make. But I think it's because of you know, they're still being paid elsewhere. I mean, Butch Jones being paid by Tennessee, major Applewhite is being paid by Houston. So you have to keep that number fairly low. Otherwise, that's the contract. You know that? Okay. Well, that's all I thanks to good stuff. Nick is up next. Nick, right ahead. How you doing man? We are. Yeah. By the way, I mistake. I I put you our Dany brands the other day, and I meant to put you on with Cuba because you don't like that would Rams that was Danny brands. I would keep AKIs here today. What was they want to put him? Oh now clad a with him. What do you have manic? I don't know. I don't know of by mail us. Well, because I think on talk spring game to his performance the all the coach now that what I wanted to talk about one dollars day. What it felt about the game? I want to ask what invoked by Dr. He looked average. Wait a minute is Nick starting to quarterback controversy. Maybe I'll be good defense. You like MAC? Matting y'all last year was an may paid. Well, so what? Well, they should have been MVP this weekend. They gave it to metric they're saying Mack. Jones can meet a top ten defense. I'm john. He was laying NASA number one day fans way. "I am not seeing nine wins. But I'll really think that can happen. But I mean, I know I'm very optimistic. But I mean, like I told you last harm whenever we'd be Alabama twice two years in a row, and that was more fun. I know exactly. But I think that run leave out the pieces together. So I just wanted your opinion on that. I saw listen glad you got it. I think listen, I I like what Matt's doing there. I think bowl game is possible maybe seven or eight but nine not quite ready to jump into that pool. No is an Asheville Noah, thanks for the call and good afternoon to you. I appreciate it Paul. Hey, a couple of questions one. I didn't get the chance to hear year view with buzz Williams. But did you happen to ask him if he sitting out a year at a and m before he can coach? I forgot to ask him that was that was that part of the deal regarding the transfer a ruling. He had to. You make a good point though. No. And I it is blatantly unfair for coaches to leave like that in players can't I'm we're in total agreement on on that one. Fantastic. Hey, second thing is this. How many years did Butch Jones that the UT program back? Let me say I'm just went through one hand. I'm on the other. It's it's never ending every year it like we're going to get to the SEC Todd Bill, and then and then we get six or seven wins. So I let me let me say, I think the I think the tunnel. I think there is light at the end of the tunnel. Good deal. Good deal. Paul. Appreciate your time. Thank you. Glad to hear from you. Pretty good. Call junior is in Louisville junior. Nice of you to call. Yes. Bad blessing of thank you for taking my call. I think people genu- to win. I'm picking Auburn. Okay. And about not reason is not enough statistical anything, but did you see those those three shots that way into wondered went straight up and down and the one that went around and right? Those three I think the team with destiny new have you ever seen that drop into the basket most times, they know really haven't. So in one more, quote did not come out. And I I'm Kentucky. But I'm not a fan. I'm spoiled since I'm realistic. But this didn't that game in mind, you any of the Memphis gang with Dan rose. When a cafe was coach about missing the free throw did that. Did that game not the Memphis game, which was for the national championship? I believe that Memphis had an eight point lead in in Memphis, MS five consecutive free. Throws right, right. And I think it was what's his name Chalmers hit a drop dead three pointer at the buzzer. I mean, I mean, it never gets any attention. You always hear about all the all the shots and NCWA history because it was for tie. But it was one of the most cold blooded shots I've ever seen in my life. Oh, yes. I'll do don't. We'll make it sound like I'm a Memphis fan. But I I grew up in Memphis fan. Remember every second of that game. Yeah. But it just it just it. And and you know, as far as the touchy goes it is impossible to win a game in the turn. But when you go from what would any seventy eight in the first half and both of them some in the set..

"Year that I got suspended. I actually got kicked off the team there for a summer and. I was doing I was doing anything really to try and grab some extra cash for the most part. It was just really working for a for a student. I wanna say hotline, but I was calling people at at this time. It was Barack Obama had just started up his term in. He was he's trying to push Medicare. So we were asking people in southern Ohio northern Kentucky in eastern Indiana about what they felt about Medicare. And I'll tell you what I I was literally. I mean, it got there were some good some good questions that I was asking. And the responses I was just running out of room to collect data on this on this topic because not too many people were happy southern southern Ohio northern Kentucky about Obama being president or to being taking taking a lot of the money that we were making as a government putting it into Medicare. Did you very interesting time of? My life. Not only did I grow up as a as a human being. But I got my I got a heavy dose of what reality was like outside of what I was living in. Well, what how awful was that job. And is there a particularly memorable phone call that you had while doing that job. Yeah. I'm not gonna lie. There were there were a few that that I would rather not say on. Got pretty reckless man. And then just to understand how people people think was was pretty aggressive. I had to get out of that job. Just because all I was hearing were racial slurs on the phone for no reason. So it was it was pretty it was pretty bad. But. It was something that kind of kept me grounded, and and and being able to push through that and get back out onto the field. Get back into school was definitely a big growing in my life. But an unnamed talent evaluator hitting you with a train wreck. But just knowing that that's how some people were viewing me it kind of kind of put a little bit more fuel to the fire to, you know, really show off that I'm just a regular human being. I'm a good guy. I like to like to live with generosity and. And help others van Travis are going to have you defend the movie the program here because I've read it your favorite football movie. Volta we've been discussing favorite football movies of all time. I maintain. I listen. I love a good football movie. That is the greatest preview I've ever seen. But the movie did not match the preview major disappointment. I didn't like it at all. So defend your favorite movie, man. I mean, I was I was a child so everything that was kind of silly goofy. I was laughing at the tire time. And I didn't see it in theaters or anything, I think it was like ten years old when I when it came out. But I I saw it. I I've seen it was like on TV or something like that. When it was on on TV. And I just was sitting there laughing my tail off like man, I hope college is this this seems like a blast playing football in college. I would I would love to do that. I was I was like, whoa. That's coming from a pats fan. You you've grown very weary of Tom Brady. Right. You're you're done with him. You're not enough. You just get enough. Yeah. I mean, I mean he's obviously the greatest quarterback that we've seen the history tells itself. What he was able to do in a game against us. You can just be able to kind of control the clock. It was it's always it's always difficult going up against them. Because you know, you wanna get out there and match what he's doing what's the single most important. Yes. To do to beat the patriots. "Clemson, I think I I don't know if Alabama was mentally fatigued or not all I know is number sixteen who was dressed in orange seem to be doing really well that night, and I think that had more to do with it. Then what Alabama state of mind was I thought Clinton was clearly the superior team the better prepared team. And if Alabama would ready to play that's on them. But I think I think Clemson was the team that showed up red clay. Yeah. It's just a, you know, I don't know you tell me, but maybe you hear it in a bowl game. When there's some pre preamble about Alabama being out of it for but for a major game a significant championship game. I've never heard anything like that about Nick Sabin team. No, neither by that. That's why. I think at the end of the day, you you can't really talk about. Well, we weren't ready to play well whose fault is that. Okay. Did you not get yourself learning to play some sometimes people use that where they get there? They get their fannies beat. And that's what happened Alabama that night. They got beat. Yeah. And being many mentally fatigued who isn't mentally fatigued by the final day of the season. And I know I know the two of us were. I know I was. I was I was Petillo and every kind of way you could beat Petit. Yeah. I like I had the same kind of night that Josh Jacobs. And I couldn't I couldn't get anything going out there. Tony great to have you on. Thank you very much for joining us as always look forward to talking to you soon. Thanks, Tony Barnhart on a number of topics including the crimson tide being mentally fatigued against the Clemson Tigers, mentally fatigued to the tune of forty four to sixteen listening to Paul finebaum show podcast. Barbara is in Tennessee. Hey, barbara. Other. Oh, are you going Laird that? You're not going to get anything bad about Nick Sabin. Let's just talk about Butch Jones for a minute and hold on Barbara. I don't think I understand what you're saying. What are you saying? Well, thawed the Lyft way way you've talked about is Nick Sabin and you've got nowhere. He's. I've got nowhere. Always done is to comment on. On the most embarrassing moments of his career, Alabama. That's all we're done. We haven't done anything. There is national championship game fast. But anyway, let me tell you something oh made you mad on day. But lesson. Yes, he Sabin hired Butch Jones, but lesson Kansas say is by John six million dollars. So I don't hear you about that much, Barbara. Are you? Are you familiar with how contracts work? Yes. I know why the contract. Okay. Well, Butch Jones had a contract with the university of Tennessee for X number of dollars. And they chose to fire him therefore he based on contract law is entitled to receive money for his contract that he signed in good faith with the university. So what is your objection to him receiving that money? Oh, no, I'm now he deserve that much. Well, you act like it was it was shooting. Now, I'm trying. I'm trying to understand is what you're unhappy about here. Well, I'm unhappy. If you really want to know about Holly Warlick, go. Found out what you're unhappy about. I feel like a doctor here came in to see me, and we tried to find the root of the problem. And I finally diagnosed that it wasn't Nick Sabin. It wasn't Butch Jones. As the best ever one on. What was ailing is Holly Warlick? Yes. I think I have a cure for that. Shut up and get off. But no, no, no, absolutely. Not. I would never say that. The cure for that is for Tennessee to keep winning which they won Sunday against LSU. I'm sure you know, that way as no one in c. Did you say sex or so what'd you say? Yeah. That say. Which one and asks I x. Six six straight. Oh, not sex sex. You can you can confuse six six. I'm not I can Finally I was just pointing out the difference between six. One six one six. Well, I don't know. Passe where do you live Barbara you live in Tennessee? And let's say Berg, Tennessee. That's like some good good good whiskey there. Now, he's got the wrong. He's got the wrong place. I was just west. West in six I mean. Okay. I, you know, this is one of these conversations..

"And I say that because at this time of the year, we're always talking about targeting and you talk about the concussion lawsuits. So I think for college football to a certain degree. We're going to spin around and we're going to spend some time talking about how those rule changes could come about. I know, you know, player coaches had had said, listen, we we want to have a two tiered system where some players are not ejected. I don't see that happening. I think they're there. There at the Commissioner level at the administrative level of college sports. They're still not comfortable with that. I think there might be some things that they can tweak in the replay system to try to, you know, have a few less players injected. But really, it is that compensation case when you talk about all of college sports, I think it's the compensation case that, you know, should get a ruling in February that could have some long-range ramifications, though, am no matter what happens out of that case. I think you'll see some appeals, and it could be a while before anything truly happens. There's a result from the case that impacts, you know, the way schools have to operate, and the other thing is, of course, the the ones that we're still working our way through the college basketball scandal trials, and the odd thing about that is you're likely to have another NCWA men's basketball tournament March madness that sort of held under the cloud because I don't think the NCW will really be able to Dc into infractions cases that could. Out of that until you know, probably next, you know, this summer or even into next year UCLA move very quickly. Of course, Ralph great to have you on. Thank you very much. Thanks, Paul fantastic conversation with Ralph Rousseau. "And did everything they were supposed to do and they reacted properly and dismissed this person. But we're not in a court of law. We're dealing with the NCAA, and my this is strictly Mobley is that when they are faced when SEA is faced with this situation with this hot of a topic. I think they they they back away and said, okay, you get away. That's what I think. If the if they let him go. What will that do to the rest of college football? And I'm not being dismissive of the allegation and what happened. We know what happened, but we'll players start using every slight that occurred has occurred to them as a reason to get out of wherever they are somebody'll Twitter responded said that exact is that guys who were looking for a way would find something to base it on militant Paul changed the language the the key phrase is you know, you gotta to circumstances that directly and this is a quote directly impact the health safety, and well being of the student athlete now, I'm not a lawyer, even though I raise one. That's a broad that is a broad definition. When you start talking about the well being of a student athlete, and that's that's awfully it was a big part of shape Addison's case when all was said. Tony b b before we let you had. I want to get some thoughts on we were talking earlier about about Nick saban's halfway house. And sometimes it just never I mean, we we've seen it all from kiffin to to Sark Butch Jones Hugh freeze tried to get in there. But he couldn't now the reports are that that Mike stoops is heading that way. And listen he he comes from a great family, but he is not distinguished himself as a head coach or a coordinator. And I realize there's only so much you can do as an analyst. But what do you think? Nick saving is thinking here. All that goes back to something you, and I talked about last week is that at this point Nick Sabin has the talent to win every game that Alabama place. He now after what's happened the last two years when he's had to remake his coaching staff. He wants to surround himself by people. He knows who have a track record good good or bad. But he s he s them. He has some faith. And so yeah, the Mike stoops thing caught me by by surprise. Would you look at all the people that he's bringing in there people who got it who got a track record and guys tend to shine when they worked for him for whatever for whatever reason they've done. Well, I thought might Loxley did a heck of a job Jeff Monday for the last game. Of course, you know. Yeah. But yeah, I think it goes back to that that situation where Nick Sabin just wants people around him that he trusts and I think that's extremely or two right now. You know, I'm interested because we really don't know a lot about his analysts. Do you have any idea what they do? And and to the extent that Nick Sabin listens and pays attention and digest what they what they offer. Well, I spoken to a couple of coaches who have done that will basically obviously the rule the big rule is they cannot coach players on the field. That's that's the rule, but they can do just about everything else. They can breakdown film. It's a it's another set of experience is and and there's somebody pointed out to me when when Georgia tried to fake that pun and the SEC championship game. They all had eight hundred people watching says the so they call onto it right away. So..

What are the big stories between now and mid summer? Yeah. I do think if you're talking about college football, you know, we talked about the overtime rules and this is also targeting season. Right. "With going on the cruise absolutely beautiful cruise out of mobile, Alabama in the middle of the winter time sounds fantastic. And know how much you love the cold. That the Paula vortex. I don't know. I understood that it was that was that a shot at mobile, Alabama or work. Well, where's the crew's going? We go down to the Caribbean. Cozumel? Yeah. We're in just the four day cruise. But think of all the people you could interview all the all the little segments you can plug in. You know, there weren't a jury winner. Yeah. About whether the the pro throw injury was against floor. Remember, the great catch was against southern miss yawn. Okay. John markelle. You know, I think we're going to send John Marcus had a child. I don't think he's going to have time to go on a cruise. This is exactly the reason I need to go through. That's fair. I mean when when I missed the dates on the cruise is it. Hey, john. I don't want to sound like everyone when you go to the store, but what's the cheapest rate. I could get on this because I'm paying for. It's like six hundred bucks. Okay. Six hundred or is that a person? Yeah. He'll think of all the fans and interviews with the players wonder if we could go sheet down maybe to four hundred I got one one interesting one brought a sleeping bag is if Joe if Butch Jones is on the cruise in. Oh, can you imagine Butch Jones on the cruise? Oh, it's a part is he working the cruisers and. No, he's he's working the cruise saying he got along with. But I don't know. Just my replacers. But you know, if something to think about I mean, it wouldn't cost that much, and you would have endless interviews and tapes to but on the show. Listen, John that is a phenomenal suggestion, and I'm going to see if we have a couple of hundred dollars an hour. Budget? Now now now, by the way, that doesn't that doesn't include you getting the mobile does it. No, no, that's John. Where are you? Good on driving down there to. Hey, things are a little tighter on here out of mind. Driving is all shared has got kaput me up for a night or two. Oh, Danny Sheridan. Yeah. Pretty good. I will tell you this. I've been Danny Sheridan house. Just just choose which one of the hundred rooms you would like to stay in. All right. It is it is a castle like the sound of that sharing in the state. The Sheridan estate is something it's like a Taj Mahal I kid you not. John. Thank you very much. That's phenomenal suggestion. I don't know if you've ever heard just thought Google crimson tide Cruz. Okay. See if I. We have on Google here on this system. Crimson tide cruise. Okay. Oh here. It is. You're right. Four day. Cruise leaves a February fourteenth goes to Cosmo. It's.

You may be you may be in the you may be in the field next week at the Daytona five hundred could have had I guess I could have had stopped buying a gallon of raising stock in NASCAR Foucault this cat. It just called in from Tennessee. Who asks you, you're right. It's I've heard him say that same thing twice. Does. He think the most scrutinized football program college football program in the country. Would dare do something that wasn't. It was against the rules. Does he actually believe that? I mean, I I find that to be pretty petty. I mean, Butch Jones is an analyst, and he is really not playing a major role. I don't think. But. Yeah. I mean, the first time I he asked me I was just trying to backtrack. Remember when I've seen Butch last the second time, it's. Sounds like an extra grind. But do you think that do you think that coach Sabin would allow someone else is fine? If he knew it violated, the NCW. No, I I don't think. So it's always interesting when when coaches changing Tuscaloosa, and what I find interesting is that it's always that the coaches are leaving are better than the coaches that he's getting. And I don't think that's the case. I don't think coach David does that you think he makes changes to better his program. Not not the worsen. It if worse in his word. Listen, I think that is right. Al. And you know, this is unusual because there are so many changes occurring. But ultimately Nick Saban is trying to win the championship. That's his goal isn't particularly concerned. Whether someone's feelings are hurt he's just trying to get a staff there that's capable of doing that. We're up against a break, man. Jones who will join us shortly about the cats who got off to a bumpy beginning this year, but looking like Kentucky right.

"Think the one thing with cycle is the most an exactly how to say this is the most non head football coach football coach I've ever been around there. There's no coach. There's no ego and arrogance that that that makes them maniacal. You know being around Brian Kelly, and Butch Jones even cover Ville to some extent, you know, those guys all had kind of a a traditional like what you expect from a head football coach Lou pickles, almost like like, you're on call really successful uncle that you see at the holidays. It gives you good advice and. Has a couple years and always says the right thing round family, and and is doing really well in life like thickly, just a normal guy that happens to hip grown up playing football and being very good at it. And I think you saw that in his football team that that it was very Cincinnati. It was very workman-like. It was they said the right things. They did the right thing that Clayton heart, and they won the city over. And I think we'll tickle is in the team taking on his personality is a big part of that. He's been great. And I love that attitude. That's a great Suzanne people love look fickle here in Cincinnati, and you wonder too if you're you're the cutting obviously he comes in here has his own guys Taylor does. But you know, at some point does does someone like Luke fickle make that jump to the NFL and in a few years, indeed do it as a coordinated position. But what better place than situation to do it here in Cincinnati? Hopefully, the the teams on an upswing. Now, we got to get going. Appreciate it. Chad Brendel with a bearcat journal dot com in the B C J podcast, which he house. Thanks again. Buddy. Thanks weekend. There you go. "Hogan's a guy with a familiarity Houston loves Houston, apparently. And it came as a bit of a surprise to a lot of folks that he would in their view downgrade from West Virginia go into group of five school now, you can make that argument one way or the other maybe we can do that here briefly, but he's taking over Houston, which I think's a huge coup for the Cougars. Some of the names that are reportedly connected to the now West Virginia opening your boy, Neil Brown. Mike novell? My fickle Michael each has a bit of a dark horse link kiffin mentioned as well. I don't know like that one any thoughts here, Dan, Butch Jones and other one rich rod coming out of the woodwork. The l Richards just signed with a mess, but I guess nothing is nothing's permanence now with rich rod, and when you have a head coaching offer, you know, potentially maybe small chance on the table. Western is a good job West Virginia as a challenging job. Dana Holson clearly recruited, very well. And I don't. I think ever had a top twenty five class a West Virginia being that Morgantown is far far away from Texas, and the sort of recruiting hotbed of the big twelve still very good job and just a very strange geographic situation, relative to the rest of the conference as for ho-gau going to Houston, the five G five move is rare. If never happening ever, Houston crazy attractive place with all the talent there with a winnable conference and a dicey situation with the trigger that what is it Tillman for Tita? They like the shadow a the shadow preser-, whatever is the mega booster getting rid of major Applewhite after a pretty poor bull performance against army. It's it's interesting because we figure that Houston's offense should be great. They have a they should have a winnable schedule. I looked up but this down here their future schedules. These next three years are. Our schedules. That would say, okay, if they go undefeated, maybe they are sneaking into a playoff conversation more so than UCF, given the non-conference elements, they go to Oklahoma, and they play was Oooo at energy. What do you call that the nerd that is the officially the Newark? Yes, they do travel to UCF next year in conference. They traveled to was twenty twenty. They host Boise and Texas Tech and twenty twenty one and traveled to vandy. So they will have power five opponents where putting the cart way way ahead of the horse here, but given Dana whole Grayson success level in power five conference. It's not crazy to think he should be winning double digit plus games at Houston. If that's if that's the very very floor of expectations of him. Okay. We'll we'll see what happens with that West Virginia opening I don't know feel semi like it was time. Yeah. It apparently had had reached a point in Morgantown between Dana holds and the administration where it was just time as. Who said that he wasn't getting Serra getting the support he wanted they weren't necessarily happy with the results all the time. And sometimes it's just best to part ways. Also, I think it's nice the way that it went down him leaving for another job as opposed to an ugly. Firing. I don't crack this says sort of a nicer sheen to it saw the best for everybody. We'll see where West Virginia goes the only other coaching news news that I wanted discuss here. Trust me. Would you have another coaching item that will get through after we get through the bull recaps? Yeah..
