He's laughing and flirting with two young women. They're sharing a bottle of wine demand floats around the house, puts on music checks out his hairs. He passes by mirrored wall in the living room. He comes up behind one of the women as she sitting in a chair and tips her way back playfully then puts her upright and gives her a long hug. Seven hours earlier and seventy miles to the south, too young women are looking to cap off a night out. "On. Stories of their time that he had like thousand dollars on. In his loser on his person. I remember the day that we went to Dr.. Store when purchases three hundred year forty thousand dollars in now are. after searching. Butch is boots. The second shorter goes back into the bedroom and comes out with Sharon Anderson. She's hopping her feet have been bound with phone courts, which Casey fights back as the first intruder kneels over him. He grabs the barrel of machine gun and tries to wrestle it away. The second intruder dashes over and he shoots Butch Casey in the back with his own pistol. The shooter goes back to searching the house. Then he closes the sliding door and walks over to where Sharon Anderson is lying. He takes the pistol out of his waistband. He pointed down at her, then he puts it back in his waistband a few seconds later, he takes it out again and aims this time a flash of fire spits out of the muzzle as he shoots her, he walks over to Marie Rogers and fires investigators will discover later that he missed. She lies, they're playing dead for a few minutes. Then the first insurer decides it's his turn. He walks over to Casey and places the machine gun against his neck and shoots, which is body jerks. He walks over to Sharon Anderson places the muzzle against her neck and pulls the trigger her body jerks. Marie Rogers still playing dead, but not for long the intruder walks to her places the gun against her neck and shoots her dead. Twenty two minutes have gone by and the killings are over. But the video has one more stunning revelation. As the two killers leave the house. The video shows one removing the shirt covering his head, and he exposes face to the hidden Security Council. They have him on tape. For the next month. Investigators will study that image and the violent twenty two minute ordeal over and over. Again, they keep video a secret from the public and enlist the help of the FBI and NASA to enhance the image. It's remarkable evidence, especially for nine hundred ninety four. They know what happened, but they don't know why or who the killers are. Was this a home invasion, robbery, gone wrong. We're the killers looking for something specific as they ransacked. The house was push. Casey, the target of a hit by people. He owed money to. On the next episode of baloney, Florida. The Casey's Nickelodeon murders the cops believe they have their answers after another huge break one almost as big as the video tape. But I, they chased tips involving the mob and public theories about a connection to a double murder that happened days earlier and led to the trial of the century. The still photograph was made of the image along with an image of his accomplice who wore a ball cap and sunglasses. The pictures were sent back to Miramar, investigators and flyers were made the faces on it or enhance, but still low-quality. The flyers were sent to police departments across Florida. There was no immediate payoff and police were being tight lipped about their progress, but some information was starting to leak out to the press, but Tinto best was reporting for the sun sentinel and his police sources were slipping him information. They were chasing leaves that pointed in three different directions. Then, of course, there were there were rumors about. He'll just being a mob going bad because he's he's too young. Women were there that these are just Roberts that this is just a robbery that had ended up turning violent that they were really looking to score and it turned out to be something a little bit more than what they are. All the information about a possible connection between Butch casing and the mom was coming from police informants, but that's not all they also came from Bush himself. Fifty thousand dollars. That's how much Casey owed to the Gambino crime family, at least according to tips that were coming in to police. Some of those tips were from well established confidential. Informants. The tipsters told police that Bush had been warned to start paying up. That warning came a few months before his death along with a beat down that left him with bruised ribs. If that information was accurate, which had enemies. We are more police detective Ray black spent weeks, interviewing bushes, close friends and relatives, and the people he worked with from nineteen ninety-five. Deposition quote, I started to hear a pattern secorski began to make statements to people that implied that perhaps there was something going to happen to him. He also made statements to employees in the bar that he was going to be bigger news than OJ and quote. But kept questioning those who knew Butch best. Was he sick? Did he have any terminal disease? Had he mentioned receiving threats? Did he have a gambling problem? A drug problem, money problems. Did he ever mentioned owing money to a loan, shark? Was he involved with mobsters or drug traffickers. But detector black? Got nowhere only vague references to Bush's odd behavior shortly before his murder, and maybe even a foreshadowing of what was about to happen in Bush's own voice. See, Butch, Casey wasn't just videotaping his home with hidden security cameras. He also had a habit of recording calls that he made and received on his home phone. He saved the cassette tapes and police found them among the phone conversations. They listen to was one with Bush's son, Brian Bon what they heard was a worried anxious, Butch Casey and confirmation of possible mob connections. This call was recorded in the days before, which is murder. The audio quality is poor, but let's hear from Butch in his own voice. Here. You know, very, very. Fierce competition. I don't know what's gonna happen news shit. That mobsters and all kinds of shit. Fuck you. Yeah, but I got the guy that I got the. Yeah. Tough. Always. Something is never anything though with me Brian. You know, there's never anything though. Never a dull moment. Man, man, he tells his son Brian that he'd been depressed over the arrest of his buddy OJ. Simpson depressed very depressed. I'm depressed. My friend, jeez, Simpson, good. You know. Because you know. I was good friends with that guy. Yeah, they wanna go on TV and everything declined. Yeah. Depressing. Thanks for the call. Thanks to call for other shit. That was kinda bummed, you know. I know. I know Jay was pretty good follow, you know, kind of real good friend of mine. He led me a bunch of money when I needed it to, you know. Nice guy. Real real good, good guy. If you were the superstar, the world and your your wife, the woman had your children. You know, was going out with a twenty two year old or twenty four year old guy driving your car around. Would you be pissed off? Oh. Well, say no mar. Say, 'no on at one point in the conversation he tells Brian, he will be taken care of in Bush's will if anything ever happens to him. Anything ever happens to me raise the executive might state and you're there for good. Good. Alone. I said, if anything ever happened to me. You know, really? Yeah. I'm not saying anything is going to, but just in case. Twenty three years later, Brian bond remembers thinking that something sounded off with his father. During that phone call, he sounded tents, put it. We founded little tight. He was. He asked me if I could come down or if I, if I would think about coming down to help out in. I guess, work with them in the in the restaurant. You said a few things. Just things are getting fierce down here. Things are getting a little little. Use the word fierce. I don't remember what else he us, but it was almost like a foreshadowing something. That coming down the play. I felt a need that he was reaching out or at least giving me kind of subversive message that something wasn't good or something wasn't right. So he must've known, he must have known something was not right with the world that point. Ryan bond had only known his dad, which Casey for about ten years. He was the product of a high school romance that the eighteen year old Butch had with Brian smother the teenagers were never together and push was not part of Brian's childhood. Yeah, I actually had my first phone conversations with him. Probably the mid eighties. I live with my mother at the time and you know, we talked a bit about it. Just mentioning that I wanted to meet him at some point. You know, I was busy with my life. I was in college. It wasn't. It wasn't a good timing. She said, well, why don't you talk on the phone? So I ended up having some, you know, quite a few phone conversations and that went well. He seemed receptive to me and my existence as as you know, we talked a little bit about how things turned out and any case. So we talked on the phone and you know, we tried to make some. Future plans to to meet up at some point when it made sense. And so it really didn't happen until nineteen eighty seven. So I was finished college. He really had from what I could tell no reservations in getting to know me what I was doing when I was up to what I would what I wanted to do in the future. You know, as a as a son that actually made me feel pretty good. I should say as a. I don't wanna use the term long lost, but you know, son that hadn't been there with him. Finally, Brian bond had met his father to talked off in on the phone. Brian grew to like, Butch Casey. He was a good guy. Bryant bought one loving with a great sense of humor and Bush seem to like having his son in his life. He would be getting ready for work. And since the restaurant bar header only license, I'd get a phone call like around six in the morning, and it would be him and say, what's going on how you doing. Just kind of packing them walking up the place and wanted to give you a call. It was thinking about you kind of made me feel good, you know, like he, he wanted to get to, you know, get to talk with me and it's no meal a little better. So that was that was nice. So we made a plan. I said, well, you know, I'd like to come down for a little longer and and meet up with my grandmother and she was a sweetheart. It was Dottie. She was something she was special. It was a year or two later. It was eighty eight or eighty nine and it came down. I stayed with with him for a couple of days days. We had a good time. We had a nice time. It was, I guess you'd call it a bonding experience. He really had a different life though because of the restaurant and the hours that the restaurant was open. You know the all night license. So you really kinda had this sort of vampirish. Sort of existence where he would sleep. Well, you know, all morning basically then get moving in the afternoon, and then we'd go over to the restaurant in the afternoon and do that into the night. You know. And I never saw a man work a room like this guy, he would walk around the bar. He would stop and talk to everyone not just stop. I mean, have a conversation. Just harrying gauging he'd put his arm around people. He would. He would be smiling and talking, you know, always have a couple of one line or some jokes, and what have you. And I think he just really made people feel at home in his place and his element I never saw him in. So engage with people before. Something to see really.

They opened a cabinet in his bedroom and discover a stash of videotapes, lots of them as many as two hundred their tape. Butch having sex with women there shot from above somewhere over his bed. A ceramics camera is discovered on a high shelf across from the bed. It was hidden behind a teddy bear and a potted plant. On another high shelf in the living room. Police, find a souvenir movie director's clapperboard an officer checks behind it and find another camera. There's a wire tach to it, and he follows it to a VCR. Detectives play the tape and discover that Bush had turned on the surveillance system as he left for work on Saturday night for hours. The cameras recorded nothing but an empty house. Then the sun came up and Bush walks into the house with Sharon Anderson and Meraj IRS at his side. The tape captures their after hours party. The officers watched stunned as the crime plays out before them. For this podcast, the south Florida sun sentinel requested interviews with the police and prosecutors who worked the murders in nineteen ninety four to talk about the video. But because the case is set to go back to trial this year, all of our requests were declined or went unanswered. Craig scarlet was one of the lead officers on the scene that morning. He's on the witness list for Eibar upcoming trial, so he wouldn't talk. But in two thousand fourteen, he spoke with CNN for their show, death row stories about the discovery of the videotape. I was outside their Camaro of this and took tape up into the and starts up there. Butch Casey, walking around the night before getting ready to go to work. We start fast forward again and we, we're going to watch this trial unfold on and David right in front of us. It was really amazing because you know back in nineteen ninety four, not many people were hooking houses up with all kinds of video. This gruesome was. The video was probably the most significant piece of evidence I've ever seen in a case. The video was shot with nineteen Ninety-four technology. So it's not exactly high definition. In fact, the black and white pictures grainy and the focus is soft and there's no sound, but what is happening is clean up. And it's chilling. Sharon Marie are sitting at the dining room table and Butch standing taking a sip from glass man walks into the house through the sliding glass door leading from the backyard. He's wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses that obscure his space. He's carrying TEC nine semi automatic machine gun. He pointed at Butch and Butch raises hands into the air. A second shooter walks through the door. Sharon Anderson jumps out of her chair and runs into a nearby bedroom. The second man is wearing a shirt wrapped around his head to hide his face, and he's carrying a large dick. He chases Sharon into the bedroom. The intruder with machine-gun raises it above his head and slams the butt end of it into Butch space, but falls to the floor marinas pushed over in her chair. She falls to the floor hitting her head against the wall on the way down the intruder kneels over Butch and begins hitting him across the face with the barrel of the machine gun. He appears to be yelling something, Butch, maybe asking him questions. The second shooter emerges from the bedroom. He's not carrying the stick anymore. Instead, he has a handgun which Casey's own chrome-plated pistol, which pushed took out of its holster when he got home and placed in his bedroom, the intruder begins to ransack the house. It's clear. He's looking for something as he moves around the dining and kitchen areas. He can be seen picking things up and sticking them in his pockets. At one point, both men search bushes, pockets, and then one of them removes put his boots. He finds something in them and appears to stick it in his pockets. Probably money remember which was known, always carry wads of cash in his boots and when his body was discovered, which was missing a sock that was never found. Here's bar manager. Peter Bednarz, explaining the thing about Bush Casey and his boots to Miramar police detective. Paul Manzella in a statement after the killings. Or or the horse of votes on the side on our hearts buse. At anytime. On.

"Connection. The conspiracy theory caught the media's attention in nineteen ninety four Margie Lambert was a reporter at the time for the south Florida sun sentinel. We were hearing from people who knew him or people who spent time at the Nickelodeon, his far that he knew OJ Simpson. And maybe there was an J Simpson connection, and maybe it was a big conspiracy and he was part of it. So we checked out the OJ Simpson connection and and also that helped us do some background on what he had done before he'd been in Florida. And he had been the manager of are also cases Nickelodeon in Buffalo, New York after time that OJ was playing for the bills. And it was a bar where Simpson hung out and they had some Utah friends. And I think. Charts get one point, got up in a police sting that was intended that was targeting OJ Simpson. So we included all that, but we were, we were kinda getting. A lot of rumors from from people who knew him. You know, you'd better look into this conspiracy. This might not have anything to do with him that might have to do with J Simpson in the end. Of course it did, but that was after the white Bronco chase. And so J Simpson was what everybody was talking about. So it was it was easy to wanna pursue that and see if it lead anywhere stink. She's talking about fuel to the speculation. It was aimed at O J Simpson back in the days of the Buffalo, New York Kishi Nickelodeon, But Bush got wrapped up in it police time suspected. Somebody had been supplying cocaine to members of the bills football team. When police read it, the place which was staying with a friend, they found two guns and small amounts of cocaine and marijuana, which told the cops, all of it was his to try. Skiing was an interesting character. He was a real party guy. He had he had some minor arrests for some for drugs and other violations both here and in buffalo and it. And I remember that the guy who bought the bar from him in buffalo, he talked about him has being kind of impresario. He was the one who knew everything and kind of got everything going at the bar, and he was just the party king flamboyant you know, had an eye for the ladies kinda lived on the edge despite the public entry police investigating the Casey's murder quickly ruled out a connection to OJ Simpson or to Bush his life in buffalo. But there may be more home for a break closer to home. They were keeping from the public. At least one witness to men, the which case he's home on the morning. He was murdered and they drove off in his luxury Mercedes. Planning. A wedding should be less stressful and more enjoyable. Hi, this is Lise. Seth done three months in county jail for driving by rivals house and shooting into. He also spent six months in state prison in a case involving stolen gold chain.
