"And I think that a lot of people around baseball will will say family I? And I think it's important that we. Know, we actually put that into action by by throwing all of our support and making these decisions. Even easier for players because. they know that they have the support of the leadership in the organization. I would add to that and You know obviously yeah I, mean I agree I think it was kind of an an an obvious and easy call for buster, and I think the fact that he took some time to think it through shows, his dedication and loyalty to his teammates, and how much he loves, the game in loves to play, but more broadly. We talked about this as an individual decision and so. You know I don't even think it's fair to create some standards like you know. If you have an X. situation in terms of your family dynamic at home, you know that warrants opting out. I mean I think we have to support every individual's decision. from a player staffs in line. I mean I would add you know I'm really encouraged by the environment that we've created at the Ballpark You know the the Operations Group. Everybody in the organization has has done an incredible job creating an environment that you know we feel safe I. Know Mlb just released some numbers on the really low positive rates on tests done. Post intake, and that speaks to the environments that you know been created around the league in credit to the players and staff that are that are being really careful with everything, but. as we've alluded to, you know beyond the health environment in terms of you know limiting or completely eliminating infections. There is a mental health aspect to this. I mean there. There is a higher level of anxiety than they normally be i. think with each passing day. People get increasingly comfortable because there is a new normal and there's been a lot of. Of positivity in our camp, but that's something that we have to be mindful of as well and gave spoke to it just keeping the lines of communication open supporting our players. Our coaches are staffed. Guys in the clubhouse making them feel heard as we go through. All of this I think is going to be vital to keeping things going and keeping everyone safe. Question and you Bagheri Andrew high on. You mentioned I think on the radio yesterday. That buster may not be the only player with young families in in the boat of trying to decide whether to play or not obviously, you have to make preparation the season Do you have some clarity on that or do you expect? Other players may decide to opt out I kind of made that comment generically. It wasn't kind of in reference to anybody else's situation, if I, said it that way I misspoke so wasn't kind speaking specifically to anybody else's. Okay. Thanks for clarifying. Okay well. That looks like that's all the questions in the queue so that will conclude today's media ability and thank you again. Everyone for profit on his morning. Thanks for joining us on the giant Splash podcast Henry Shulman and I will continue providing you podcast as we approached the scheduled twenty twenty season. So long everybody!.

"Still great about San Francisco will interview colorful character Gersh share history pay tribute to our favourite. SF movies and just have fun here to listen for the Cable Car Bell Total SF wherever. You get your podcasts cornerstone. You've been paired for quite a long time through the championship. Run and beyond. What will that be like like not having him out there to you? Well it's going to. It's definitely going to be strange. I mean it'll be tough not seeing and the giants you can't for sure is obviously meant so much to the organization to the fan base. And that he was one of the first guys I met when I signed you probably he was probably eighteen. Maybe so a a lot of good memories with him you know. Silver lining is is that I get to compete against one of the fiercest competitors in the game and having caught him for over a decade. It'll be interesting to be on the other side. I'm sure he's looking conform to just like do you think of the higher. The LYSA You know what I mean. I think the way I look at any hiring it's all about connectivity and if this is somebody that can help the giants football games and it's great I mean that's that's that's the way I look at it and and who knows if this at least something more to where it opens up other opportunities for people that help other organizations a uh win ballgames because ultimately. I think anybody would tell you I think again. I don't want to speak for a listen because I've only met her briefly. I think she would say the same thing. Yeah she wants to. She wants to contribute and make sure that when she comes to the park every day the work she's putting in is helping helping guys get better and working towards win ballgames. How would you best describe your new teammate? Billy Hamilton as a as a catch to face you please don't get on base. That's the best way to describe him and he can be incandescently. A headache and I mean you see what he does to infield defenses when he comes up. I mean it's like shortstops plan almost on the grass it feels like same with the third third baseman is almost at the pitcher's mound and yeah. He's he's not fun for Catcher. It just changes the way that you set up it changes. Sometimes you try not to let it change the way you call pitches but sometimes you get competitive and you just want that pitch to to be able to throw them out. So it'll be glad I don't have to deal with China throwing out right now. How would you describe pants? Well we all know hunters nursery. I mean he's one of the best teammates that anybody will ever have and his enthusiasm for. Baseball's contagious listen. I know you was. His season was cut short a little bit last year from injuries but he was putting up some big numbers before then some interested it just kind of pick his brain and see what adjustments but he made does that seem interesting hunter and Pablo. I mean this this has been like. Let's turn the page. Let's bring in new guys. Let's have a whole new look. Yes they're relying on you know they're going to bring back. Some familiar faces races the cynical sports writers. Like maybe they'll socio tickets out of that or I don't know what do you feel like you. Do you know what the philosophy is here. I mean I don't I mean I can't spend I can't speak for the GM or the president of baseball loss. But just from my vantage point. I mean both of those guys and still be productive. You know on regular on an everyday everyday basis. I don't know I don't know if they would tell you. That's realistic or not at this point. But I think if they are put into the right spots what's that they can still be very productive and then they're also great guys have in the clubhouse which is interesting. Because you know it seems like baseball's an industry has kind of transitioned away. From hiring are signed certain players just based on clubhouse presence inspect those two guys are Claus. Presences doesn't really fit in the Analytical D. Do you feel I I mean I know you always have felt pressured near career since you feel particular pressure now that you are you know without a doubt the face the link the past the the the guy who knows what it's like to win in a giants uniform more than anyone else I mean. Is there a new level of pressure for you know. Yeah I don't I mean I don't know if I feel any more pressure because of that. I feel pressure because I wasn't happy with the way I played last year. I think that's as much as anything I want. I WANNA prove to myself. You know I can get back to producing offensively on the side of the ball. I was pretty happy. Defensively with my the other still stuff to improve but really want to get back to. I think that's that's the pressure I feel. Is You know you have this. You sometimes sometimes have this nagging thought like you can you. Can you do that again. So that to me is the pressure and the challenge of getting back to feeling. I'm like I am producing a level. You know speaking of that gave it said more than once and he said it again today that he thinks that there's more or left not just you but both of the Brandon's guys who are not have not put up the numbers that they stayed just in. He's kind of factoring that into the equation about about winning more ball games and yet you live in the city you know what the fan base things. They are very skeptical of. What are you player about? Well I think the fan base has a right to be skeptical about it again. I can't speak for those other guys. I do feel like I have more left in the tank to be more productive and I'm sure those guys feel the same way the brandon's you mentioned spying on the Brandon's instead of saying their full names but long ago uh-huh Yeah I mean you know the crazy thing I think about professional sports or baseball certainly is doc. Even when you're you're not playing well you're not that far off a lot of times from from the back to quote unquote where you're on wannabe. So hopefully with some minor adjustments. That's going to be a key. We're all GONNA have to be willing to to make some changes. You can't keep doing the same thing you're doing and expect act. You know to get different results so and you know. It's such a great feeling when you make the playoffs and you're able to to hand out the playoffs shares to the coaches and staff but it's also equally as Crowley of feeling when you're in the situation that you are right now. "Scoreboard already done today. The rivalry cubs. And cardinals the cubs win. This one Kyle Hendricks goes and shutout. The cardinals for zip later on twins at Yankees raise at Orioles. The nationals in Phillies in Phillies, of course, Bryce Harper against his former team roles in Detroit to take on the Tigers Mariners go east to take on the Indians in Cleveland. The Braves are in Florida take on the Marlins. The Blue Jays in Texas to take on the Rangers range the Red Sox and White Sox from Chicago Mets and brewers in Milwaukee. And a couple of games in the NFL west Diamondbacks and Rockies in Colorado and the dodgers and the Padres. So that's what the school board looks like tonight. And again Tyler Beatty will make two thousand nineteen debut after fine one point nine nine era in Sacramento as far as the lineup is concerned tonight for the giants against the Cincinnati Reds. MLB: Latest on Giants' Pursuit of Bryce Harper

"Probably on the minds of a lot of giants fans is whether the team will win the Bryce Harper sweepstakes at is probably on most minds as they enter oracle park today. There's been a lot of buzz on Twitter about Bryce Harper possibly signing with the giants as soon as today Marc fine sand who has been a long time baseball writer in the New York area. Now works for MLB dot com. Says two sources tell him those Bryce Harper rumors out there are not accurate of Sam signing with the giants today. But of course, the giants made a big push this week to try to sign the top free agent meeting with him in his hometown of Las Vegas. Buster Posey yesterday talked about Bryce Harper the times that I've spent around Bryce whether it's just in passing or at an all star game. He's been he's been great to be around. And. Again, I think you you can't undersell maybe the difficulty of some of the stuff that was put on him from early age probably more so than anybody in baseball history. Chicago Cubs pitcher Cole Hamels takes dig at Milwaukee Brewers fans

"Milwaukee is in the midst of a pennant race they. Are four games behind the Chicago Cubs right now in the? NL central And. The cubs brewers just started a series and the cubs actually lost game one So while the brewers have had a decent fan base and I'm not sure loyals. The, greatest word Cole hamels had to call out the fan base and here's why now Chicago is ninety miles from Milwaukee right it's about ninety miles forty four thousand four hundred sixty. Two, fans in attendance were there But yet it, just seemed that there were a lot of Chicago. Cubs fans In attendance in Milwaukee for a road game now When Anthony Rizzo hits a home run off Josh Peter in the eighth. Inning The crowd starts, cheering as. If, it was a cubs game that gave the cubs, a three, two lead now if the place is loaded more with brewers. Fans Miller park you would think that there'd be a, lot more booing going. Unsaid of hearing a lot of cheers fray, visiting player hitting a home run Right, now you would think So Cole hamels Said this, about it quote when you have the majority of cubs fans. In the stands I don't know if that's a rivalry there aren't going to like me, for the comment but look at the ticket sales when they start to get a little closer in their, fans sell out then I think that's kind, of the understanding but cubs. Fans travel well Last year, they offered tickets their home games against, the cubs for Wisconsin residents only now his last winter that's what they did before then opening them up to residents of other states so even though they first opened up the ticket offers for the home. Games against the cubs this year to his constant residents only, apparently there's either a healthy secondary market of Milwaukee Brewers fans willing to sell their tickets the cubs, fans to make some money because this is probably the series. Where they can charge a high amount of money for the tickets or the ticket sales, strictly for Wisconsin residents didn't do their job and when it was opened up to residents of other states, the cubs fans then pounds down the bundle, of tickets that were unsold There's nothing worse. Though when you are at home any visiting player hits a, home run or gets a big strikeout and the place erupts as if Something good happen for the home team when in fact it's because of the visiting team shouldn't happen I don't know people wanna. Stick up from, a walkie brewers fans but it shouldn't

"Ball game is over Plus we're getting one to the opposite field and he headed hard On July eleventh against the cubs not too long ago BUSTER Posey walk-off RBI single was that the day, after I believe, it was the day after the BUSTER Posey. Said thanks but no thanks to participating in the all star game the news came. Out that Posey who's been dealing with a laundry list, of injuries none of them significant enough to make him, miss time but a long list of injuries nonetheless that BUSTER Posey it needs the time off going to. Get a cortisone shot in in his hip and get the rest he definitely, needs and deserves over the course of the four day all-star break but BUSTER Posey who you could clearly, see clearly see that the. Years of catching has taken its toll and of course he doesn't he, doesn't apologize for that and doesn't ask for any, pity or sympathy but you could see that. BUSTER Posey just bats not as quick as it used to be But that's. The guy who behind the plate at brain of of here's catches brain is still as quick he is one, of the best in. The business in terms of. Handling a pitching staff and think about the job BUSTER Posey's had to do with the, number of guys, he's had to a shepherd through a game. I mean you obviously when you've got Bumgarner back and you've got some of the. Veteran guys you're quite oh coming back I mean those, things sort of handle themselves but just think about all, of the youngsters all of the rookies whether we're talking deer Derek Rodriguez or Andrew Suarez or in a. Tie block or some of the new guys coming in like Ray black race, Moronta mean you could just keep going on down the list I mean credit to the giants pitcher starters, and relievers who have especially. When it was looking pretty dicey there when Cueto and Somalia and and, Bumgarner all injured it was looking as though the, youth and inexperience of this giants pitching staff It, was then that could be problematic for the giants to, where this season would be lost a pretty much before it began not that. Wasn't the case that those. Guys did great jobs I think you could also give BUSTER Posey's little bit of credit for that for his handling of that pitching staff the I mean listen going from. Hunter Strickland to various other guys that is. Quite a, diverse group, of of arms that take the mound for the giants and BUSTER Posey, for the, most, part is. Back there, calm cool collected that rock and, handling all of those guys just the pitchers, deserve the credit for what for what they, do but I think you'd be disingenuous to not give BUSTER Posey just a little bit of credit for how the giants. Pitching staff has gone from my God these guys are young. And and then to wait a. Minute these, guys are not only, young but now they're healthy with the exception of some Marsha back on the deal for the. Third time this season but the young and you've got a pretty good group Of of arms guys you can throw in and do a lot of things a lot of. Different things and do them pretty well but BUSTER Posey still, getting back there behind the dish, still taking a beating but still doing it in a very quiet manner and while that bat might not be, what many people wanted to be in terms of power.

"The call peter i i can weigh in on that here's the deal with buster posey first of all buster posey's value to this team should never ever ever ever ever ever be correlated to the number of home runs he hits i mean ever the way that you gauge buster posey's value to the team what's the team's record at the end of the year and did they have a chance to win a championship three times it's come to fruition and buster posey's been a huge part of that now twenty four home runs that's his career high that was back in twenty twelve okay yeah he's got some miles on he's thirty one years old lot of games in the squat he's played eleven hundred games in his career posey has never been a true blue power hitter and i do think that at and t on some level gets in guys heads guys don't go up there if you play there every day you don't go up there trying to hit home runs and i don't think buster posey really ever goes up there trying to go deep now if he gets his pitch and everything falls into place sure we know he's capable hidden out of the ballpark but i don't think that's his name i don't want buster posey hitting fourth buster posey is one of the rarest athletes in major league baseball we don't see this very often a catcher whose best asset is his on base percentage usually you know those are kind of speedster guys but posey is such a disciplined hitter any such a quality hitter he now knows he's not best served trying to hit home runs buster posey understands the way that he's going to serve the team in the best possible capacity the way that he's going to have the best success over one hundred and sixty two games is finding holes going the other way with pitches finding gaps working counts just giving a quality big league at bat every time he's not going to judge up there with the uppercut swing he's not overly concerned about his launch angle he's up there trying to get on base that's why i love buster posey hit and second in the line of i mean think about it when they had the luxury of a regular lineup going for like what was it like a week posey hit and second i liked buster posey in the two hole i do high on base percentage guy i've said over the years i don't want buster posey hit and clean up i don't like it three is about is is as low in the order is i want pose you obviously not a leadoff hitter but i think to it in second that's a beautiful spot for buster posey especially now that you do have some guys that have some true power behind him i know longoria is hurt but you know you've got some guys that can actually hit the ball to the ballpark at a higher clip and a guy like buster posey i just think when when you talk about buster posey first and foremost what does he do with the staff and the other thing too you need to keep in mind is look at the other closers in major league baseball don't compare buster posey's number numbers to bryce harper's numbers or something like that that's compare buster posey's numbers to the other catchers in major league baseball and see what you got okay i you know i don't have the numbers in front of me but i don't think there's a you know a bevy of catchers in major league baseball that hit ridiculous amounts of home runs the pitchy or the position is so taxing work with those pictures every night and his job is to call games behind the plate nobody frames a pitch like buster posey was added again today it's an absolute art form so i think he's understood that a little later in his career as long as he's got the rb is you know in that seventy five to eighty range with an on base percentage in the you know higher mid higher threes like three sixty three seventy something like that you'll live with that man and and that's just fine with me i would i like a few more homes and posey sherman the three run bomb is the great equalizer that can can cure a lot of ails but at the same time you.

"Now brian gorman is going over toward the giants doug and i think he wants to make sure what it is the giants are appealing here what what they want reviewed do they want the the obstruction of buster posey reviewed do they want the play at third review because the play at third is out and then the throwback to i should be a double play the the other question would be because they played up prior call it a fair ball that's not a reviewable play that's his call period roberto ortiz was the third base on fire but the other umpire who's in there with gorman on the earphones is not the third base umpire but the first base umpire dana's faulkner now what if in the midst of reviewing this they determined that in bumping into would posey tagged out would so that meant that at third base it was not a force out correct but attacked way so in that instance then the runner at third would be safe but would would have been out almost instantaneously it was the play was all messed up in the beginning because goria was in front of thirty days and he went back to cover but brandon crawford was there we're looking at the television replay buster got the ball and then he brushed into the to alex wood and he hit him with the glove if if they're saying the ball was in the glove than it would have had to be attacked play at thirty now here they take the headphones off and we're going to get the ruling out at first and then he just pointed at third what is happening forty so the runner at third is safe so buster did tag tagged johnson i don't know that he was trying to jack johnson but the the plan third they still could have even gotten the runner at third on a tag there was time to do it but i don't even know of crawford even knew that he was going to have to tag it so now the infield in runners at second and third the leadoff man taylor takes a big swing at a high fastball and it's all in one so it is a sacrifice for would was the catcher with the unassisted put out but the runners advance that is so odd because he would been better off not tagging here's a.
