"They're they're tied with like, I said before the arch our forty four Manchester City. They continue their winning ways that that's just they've been the plane amazingly. And it's show. And like if Limbaugh wasn't four games are. Let's see seven nothing nine nothing. Three nothing pretty convincing. Isn't it? Yeah. They'd be a couple of our level team, lower division teams seven and than nine zero. It's kinda mean, isn't it? Some would say nine nine like four would be enough. They play the second leg of their. Of their Cup match against Burton Albion today. And they are up nine goals on the on the. One game felt like to assure we're going to see nothing win for. But I'm sure we're going to see a very weak Manchester City squad being put out there today, though, they'll save their players. I would. Okay. I know this is basically impossible, but they lost this like ten nothing. And like that'd be the biggest collapse over right? That'd be up there. But it's not happening playing third division team. It's not happening. I'm sorry. It's not unless messy is disguise in. This guy's in nods in this guys on that team. Still probably wouldn't probably be tough. Yeah. So city stays hot. They win another game three nothing. But they haven't made progress because Liverpool continues to win. Yeah. They had a pretty good game against a Crystal Palace. Four three four three. They actually went down in that game. Because you extremely well. There was a beautiful header textbook. Just right off the from that corner kick that I thought was lovely perfect. And there was kind of lack of defense honestly on both sides of the ball. That kinda worried me a little three kind of speaks are so right. But like is just just like is that is that troubling for Liverpool that they were gonna lacking defense or do you think they were just interested meeting Crystal Palace? I don't think that it's troubling for them because they've been great defensively all season long and their third the third goal. They gave up was in the ninety fifth minute. Like true. It was at the end the first goal that they gave up. I will say I thought that was a little bit lackadaisical defending. So right. I will definitely say that was unrest could have probably done a little bit better there. But I mean, crystal tells they have some talented players Townsend's. Aw. Like those players on on a day and do well. So. I'm not concerned about their defense because of how well they played so far I'm not gonna overreact watching watching a couple of goals. Interesting. But also there was also very lack of even pal too. So it wasn't. It wasn't just one way. It was both ways. Obviously four three really speaks for itself with seven goals internal happen. But granted, right? So. So. Liverpool continues to to just stay at the top of the league still think doesn't really look like much can stop them. Can it? I still think it's there is to win. I know that the gap is only four, and I know that February a lot can change in February February is get tough for all these teams because they're going to be playing in Europe there reporting their Champions League games. In addition to their club games. They're domestic games. So anything happen? But Liverpool's next match in the in the league is against Leicester City. Speaking of Leicester City, they played in basically the game of the week. Anybody can argue that it actually was NBC's game of the week wolves beat Leicester City for two three putting a lot of pressure and called Pule. The coach of LeicesteR. There were rumors that his job was already on the line going into the wolves game. They go down to goals early. They come back right after halftime, though. Too quick responses back to back five minutes apart the first one coming in the forty six the next one coming in the fifty first right away. They're back in tiger. But then wolves go up again three to only to see them lose the lead in the eighty six minute with Morgan with the goal, but Diogo Jota in injury-time gives wolves a four three lead and the win in just a back and forth. Game added a hat trick as well. I hat trick for job Jota. He becomes. I love their coaches runs on the field too. And gets kicked out afterwards..

"Bought nobody over the summer, probably won't be buying anybody in January Dan belly has left for China. It's the question. I mean, this'll be Pocchettino. I mean, they're moving into the new stadium allegedly in a couple of months, but I guess this'll be real test for Tino to see if they can hang on because United and now arsenal are back, or you know, with the result against Chelsea Colson quoth. Both United Parcel only three points behind Chelsea and Spurs are only four points headed him. So. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Heady times heady times at Wembley. Speaking of Spurs, and Chelsea, of course, is that mentioned on Thursday. They'll be playing the second leg of the cariballo Cup semi-final. Harry Kane scored Avar penalty in the first leg. Also in the other semi-final. What do you think city is gonna pull through their only got a nine goal lead? Wouldn't it? Just be the play. As ING thing. If if like if Vert Navin manages to. That would be the greatest thing to ever happen in all of soccer. But yeah, I I mean like, it's. There is almost no point to play the second leg after getting drum nine zero in the first you don't today, I learned that Burton Albion's home ground is called Pirelli stadium. In. That's where the second leg of the Karabakh Cup semi final will be played. Also in that match city will probably be trotting out all of its reserves. But Benjamin Mendy is set to come back. So. Bringer FC all-star Benjamin Mendy, you mean referred to him by name gives us a proper respect. Please. Thank you. All right. Let's go into some Premier League news hits first off actually, this isn't really premier. This is Premier League related. Primarily related soccer. Streams on it is no more poor one Alice. Apparently there was like two hundred thousand illegal streams that the primer league crackdown on last season and read which has four hundred and twenty-five thousand subscribers is really the easiest way to watch a primarily any type of match really in any league in the world easily. What we're talking about? Here is soccer. Streams sub read it on over the weekend on Saturday. Actually, the mod of that sub. It informed users that read it at administrators were about to ban it because of copyright infringement. And that particular sub Reddit soccer streams had over four hundred twenty five thousand subscribers now, if you go to that page now, you they've already created some new sub read it's for soccer streams, but that main hub which everybody that watches soccer used is no more and. And you know, it's going to be a game of cat and mouse because these additional sub rates are these, you know, like different pages that they're creating are probably gonna get knocked down to you would imagine. But I mean, the thing is is like if you have Google you'll be able to find a stream, right? I mean, read it wasn't hosting the streams it was just people pasting copying and pasting where the streams were hosted. So. Yeah. But I mean like there was kind of. I don't know. My just randomly searching on the internet is marginally less safe than finding that it links on on a soccer. It's all true sub Reddit where everybody else is trying to do the same thing. And not spam. You it's true. The vote on read. It was a really good function for finding a good stream. Yeah. I won't name the other sites that you can go to, but you know, suffice to say read it soccer. Streams was a very useful resource. Are we encourage in piracy right now? Maybe we should just say, oh, we're just appreciating that that read it soccer. Streams was too beautiful to to be free. Well, here's another question. Here's a follow up to that. What about NFL streams in NBA? Streams in MLB streams in NHL. Streams are those all gonna get knocked? I mean, are we actually snitching right? I'll bet it's. I guess is the Premier League. I mean, the Premier League is pretty quick to knock down, you know, like Twitter highlights and things like that. So maybe they're just quicker on it..

"First of all let's feats. Matthew Kenyon about one side. It is not the word. Manchester City manager pep Guardiola said the best way to respect the opposition. And the competition was to try to score more goals. They did that installed last night nine nil. Thrashing of third tier Burton Albion in the first leg of their English League Cup semi final was at Manchester City's home ground. So Burton still have the home leg to go. You might think that's step on behalf too far buttons manager Nigel clubs said losing by that margin hadn't been very pleasant now Qantas bad for Perry. Sandra matters it was for Burton. But that was first domestic defeat for them this season when they went down to once again going the final of the French League Cup competition. They've won five seasons in a row. And it's the draw for the Australian Open tennis shortly. The first grand slam of the year starts on Monday. Former world number-one Andy Murray is hoping to return to Melbourne Park having missed most of last season following hip surgery had a practice match with current world. Number one Novak Djokovic it ended midway through the second set when they ran out of time at which point Murray had only won two games and. I'm told looked very uncomfortable. Matthew, many thanks now, let's return to the Democratic Republic of Congo. And after the dust of the election, settles the winner has much to deal with and not least how to manage the economy of this vast mineral rich country, the economy is five times bigger now than it was at the turn of the century. Matthew Davis of our business staff is here. Matt what's the DRC? Got that. Everyone wants almost everything is gold has diamonds tantalum tin and a host of rare metals there, the DNC is also Africa's biggest exporter of copper, but at the moment one nine sticks out cobalt until relatively recently cobalt was mostly used in jet engines because it's pretty good at high temperatures. But because the big car companies are getting more and more into electric cars. The demand for cobalt has soared because it's used in the batteries for them as well as in laptops, and smartphones over the past. Here. It's tripled in price. And it's reckon that over half, the world's cobalt reserves are in the deal has the rub often the big companies like Glencore produce it as a byproduct of mining copper and nickel and that can restore can constrain supply but away from the big mining companies. There's also illegal copper mining activities that thought to info forty thousand child labourers, and it's estimated that twenty percent of the sees cobalt is mind by hand in abandoned opencast mines and legs. So the task of any new government should be to tidy up this end of the cobalt mining industry. And there is a new mining code in the DRC, isn't there? Yes. Much to the consternation of the mining companies Kabila's government introduced this new code to raise royalties, ramp-up taxes, and actually most importantly it cancelled the clause from the old code. Which would have protected the companies from being hit with new charges for ten years. This wasn't the mining code. Actually, wasn't a big issue in the election. So foreign investors in the mining companies on now waiting to see how things pan out Matt Davis with the business many, thanks. This is Newsday live on the BBC World Service. Has obviously been a giant and top secret investigation from the police during the weeks. The secrecy is supposed to be the city have been made to the woman's life. If police or media go single now, which seems to police are in lack of legal options and decided to go public with the alleged kidnapping attempts to getting observations, and you leave. This is what the police are following as they main theory a kidnapping some eventually done by foreign professionals. This is kind of a new sensational and scary crime also, especially so, of course, this this is the big topic here at the moment and people are shocked, and I notice browsing some of the Norwegian media this morning on the front page of African nations website one of the big newspapers, they're and they're talking about security companies selling panic rooms to people were an inside their homes. They can be safe so this causing some anxiety, especially in a country, that's famously transparent about how much money. Everybody has salaries are published. Yeah. Yeah. That's it. No way, a very it's a country, which the title of transparency, and as you to to get to know who which one in this country well today, there are stories about experts warning, although rich people in no way to to. Because about the secretary. And is there any notion about where this may have come from and the source of of criminal gangs inside no way that that might be? Setup to to demand run soms the police talking coming from outside the country. This will only be speculation at the moments where worry castle with the information. They gave out in their press conference yesterday. What they did say it. Being a professional. This is made by someone professional. Thanks for talking to survive marriage. Thanks, right. Let's do business talked to Matt who is caught between two headlines darkening skies an orderly slowdown. So which is it that the World Bank is predicting for the world. They've released a new report which they've called darkening skies downgrading the outlook for the global economy. Global economy is something that concerns us all how the skies, Matt. Well, I mean dark skies, it all sounds very traumatic doesn't it. Remember the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. Silence. Had don't panic on on the cover which may have actually been a better title for this report. Because while the World Bank has downgraded economic growth for the big economies and many emerging economies. It's not by much and they make frequent uses this phrase orderly slowdown, but having said that the report also urges governments to take urgent imperative and critical action. Here's the senior World Bank opponent economist a ham Cosa, the global economy is going through a difficult period. Skies are darkening, and we see global economy is slowing resort rising US and China account for forty percent of global GDP and the account for twenty percent of global trade how they resolve their differences is going to be very important. How global economy is going to shape this year? Well, we got trade talks at the moment between the US and China is it all down. Onto relations between number one. And number two. Well, certainly a big factor in the world. Bank says US economic growth was slow to two point five percent. This year one point seven percent next year. Likewise, Chinese economic growth is also expected to slow bat if the pair can sort out their differences over trade is trying to do in Beijing the storm that could develop out of these darkening skies could be averted, but at least a Bank steer clear of using the word. "But it's it's it really is personnel issues. Nothing has changed at the back. The center has they have when they are fit aren't good enough. And again, we saw last night. He switched to a four play jackass in the center of that four. You don't want that? It's it's not good enough. D the early stages of the game last night. Andrew they played some lovely stuff. I mean, let's be honest McAteer Ian should have had two goals to start. I don't know on. There was. Lovely interplay Ramsey was to the fore Aban to the floor. They've got a lot going right up front. But nothing has changed at the back. This is a this is probably part of a bigger conversation that I don't know that we're going to have right now in this podcast because we are gonna move on. But we talk about Manchester United problems at the back there center hats, we talk about arsenal. Oh, they're centre-half's. There's issues there. You know, even sometimes now, we're starting to see it. I feel like a little bit with Chelsea. Yeah. I'll centre-half like at what point do we start to say that just maybe there's not that many good players at that position. I feel comfortable like I think Tottenham are for the most part solid stockpile. Right. They're rock solid there. You know? But even even Manchester City right now, I feel good about them. But even when they were winning titles a few years ago that was their weakness. Don't forget that possession possession has become such a big thing for city. It's a form of defense number ball. That's not going to be exposed as much right? Can I say this to you just? Doing it'll mental exercise look John Virtanen and then look Virgil vandyke. And then think of the arsenal defenders and not just a screw must be a pop Asaf. Adopt lewis. Just look at those. But yeah, I just think that there's kind of like a shortage of high quality talent at that position. And maybe that's because we're in an era where just you know, everybody wants to score goals. I don't know. I I'm not exactly sure what it is. Yep. I I don't know if we have the defenders, we'd certainly is one of the Cannavaro's the Maldinis we don't have those kind of players anymore. Yeah. Not as many of the money went. So we're going to move on and talk. Well, the other semifinal Manchester City, they won Burton Albion one. And man city is gonna play Burton Albion Tottenham. We're gonna play Chelsea who scored in the eighty four th minute in hazard. So it'll be Spurs Chelsea Manning city Burton Albion, eight seventy eight it's unbelievable what the brewers have done and what Nigel cloth is done. And I it's kinda great to have a club at this point in the competition. That's kind of almost like a throwback their league. One Wigan were league one when they knocked out Manchester City in the. The FA Cup last year. But that was a one and done this two legs. Ye you can't this is going to be over in the first like you'd fear for for Burton, even though they've beaten a good team and MS Berhe good championship team. "Berlin. I'm Matt Miller and I'm Anna Edwards. You're listening to Bloomberg daybreak Europe. Just read headline crossing the Bloomberg UK November retail sales rise by one point four percent. The forecast was for an increase of zero point three percent. We will dive beneath the hood. We will die. Beneath that number in just a moment. Get some expert analysis, but that is certainly the number that we are looking at right now, the UK online sales exceed twenty percents of total for the first time that is another important trend despite what Acer's had to say. And that is of course, a retailer on an online nature. These sales were boosted by black Friday and household goods, apparently which given the states at the housing market is not bad. Let's have a look at the broader day, someone will return to this just a moment. The broader data check then tells me that says stocks in Europe are negative down by one point two percents. The Footsie-100 by one percent. The CAC down one point four this extra. Dax down one percents that offloads at the session is the best second off you if you're long of European equities this morning, and that might be because we're seeing expected losses on US futures being paid a little bit. So we're now down by two to three tenths of a percent on US futures. And so maybe we're seeing some lead across into European stocks. We also are off lows on the oil price, which isn't saying much they because we were down by more than four percents on the oil price Elliott. Well, now, we're down by more than three WTI would forty six sixty one that is the price of a barrel of oil and price of a barrel of Brent crude fifty five fifty seven down by three percents. US yields the day after we heard from the fed yesterday heights. They tried to avid at a dovish tilt to it wasn't quite dovish enough in terms of the stock market reaction. But we've got say yield of the US ten year two point seven six percents right now, the dollar was considerably weaker this morning down by seven tenths of one percent. Interesting stories being painted them by equity market reaction and FX market reactions. What we saw from the fed. That's a quick look at the data. All right. Let's get to we got the data. Let's get the news or the the reasons behind it, Bloomberg European equities reporter, Lisa fam- joins us now for more on how European consumer and retail stocks are doing and what to watch and the sector in nine thousand nine and these I I'm pretty surprised by the UK retail stats that Anna just read out. What do you think? I thought we were in. In an apocalypse. It has been a very very volatile time for the retail sector here in the UK. What we are seeing is as it says is the fact that we are getting a boost from black Friday. The black Friday sales have increased in my mental of the past few years. And what's been clear is it's really the electronics retailers that are benefiting from black Friday sales. And so we are seeing consumers they're more spending their money at this period in time on things like the household goods fuel seems to be a factor here as well. So if you look at the retail sales excluding fuel up by three point eight percent year on year versus an estimated two point three. So that is still well ahead of the estimates. Maybe a different magnitude compared to the the overlying the figure, especially when you're focusing so much on black Friday and online sales. It does back. The question. How much demand is being pulled forward from December into November? Exactly. I mean what we are seeing some reading. Doesn't it when we just really impressive retail sales figures who asked that question. But let's not forget that with a SaaS they are focused on things like fashion and close. And so we ask and they do mention that they did not think about their black Friday strategy in as much detail as like some of their other competitors say they did side that as like one of the issues like the challenging November that they did have. We also had other retailers like sports direct and AB foods who runs who owned their primary chain. Like, they also mentioned that they had the challenging November as well. I think what we're seeing in terms of the retail sales data that come out today is we are kind of looking at the impacts of the household goods that and how that has boosted the sales for that month. How much does Brexit play into the retail issues in the UK it is creating quite a love uncertainty, and as we are seeing like people are kind of being a bit pickier about when they are choosing to spend their money and how much they're willing to spend the money as well. So with black Friday being in the. Member that is helping that it's November sales quite a bit. But to your point earlier, we may still see what happens with Christmas, and it is hard to to to know for sure what the December figures will the Mike household goods number given the woes in the housing market for household goods. Number is, quite stellar. Isn't it driven? The the owners saying that the increase in this retail sales figure driven by a five point three percent rise in sales of household goods. We had a terrible state really for many parts of the housing sector in limbo waiting for some Brexit resolution and a number of other factors. And yet we see that number. I wonder if there's something changing we've back Friday's reshaping the times of year that people spend their money. Definitely I think the other thing to keep in mind in terms of the property market in the UK is the fact that people aren't kind of like buying houses at the moment. So tending to stay in the places renovation. Exactly. So they are renovating their thinking about what they wanting to buy and keeping their homes rather than this idea of like just own an. For a couple of years and trying to upgrade, for example. All right, Lisa. Thanks very much. Lisa fan. They're on the European consumer after we got these surprisingly upbeat numbers. That are. However, we must remember for November. Lisa. Thanks very much for that. Let's get the world national news, Markus Karlsson, Markus. That's very much Matt skeptical. Lawmakers say they want answers on how President Trump arrived at his decision to declare victory over Islamic state militants in Syria and order a full withdrawal. Bloomberg's Bob moon reports. Why not it's hump day Wednesday Canadian cannabis related stocks have rocketed ahead of the full legalization of recreational weed, which takes place three weeks today. But when will European investors get a taste of pot stock mania? Let's talk to Bloomberg's Jerry stern. Joe pot. Stocks have gone crazy and Canada as we've talked about. So what is the current lay of the land in Europe for investors at the moment? The annual sales of recreational cannabis project projected they could top around twenty five billion is in one year. According to Canaccord Genuity, he's leading the research in this field. And if you put that into speculative that's actually eight times what could potentially be consumed in Canada. But obviously for now the market is mainly medicinal based on consumption data. We have from the Netherlands sales could reach around four hundred and fifty million euros a year by twenty twenty. Eighty two and the canvas oil market is increasingly more popular that's growing up around forty percent year at the moment, Joe for your though to have its own stock, boom, we've got quite a lot of hoops to jump through for instance, politics. It's a lot different on this side of the Atlantic in in relation to regulation, etc. Yes, I investors. Really here waiting for regulations to catch up with public opinion. So in year, virtually unanimous that people support the legalization of medicinal cannabis and regulation did turn a corner back in two thousand seventeen when Germany pass legalization and Portugal Spain and Denmark are among the other countries that have gone that way here in the UK, which is expected to be probably the highest growth market where waiting for a declassification to come in the home secretary said that should come in in the autumn. So we're expecting that any month now. So you've pointed to a few things there is there anything else that needs to happen for Europe to have its own stock, boom. Well, really, we need more high profile investors to get involved. So at the moment is around three or four smallcap listing to these companies that invest in stocks full this article that we've written and we spoke to sativa investments and they've invested in one company that measures. "To spot kicks before getting past wolves defending champions, Manchester City, three nil at Oxford while Burnley well, beaten, two one at league one team Burton Albion. All right. Let's get back to some of the important conversations that need to be had and bring in James nightly to help with that. He's an I N G chief economist joining us in our London studio good to have you on James say, let's get straight to the to the meat would what the FOMC may or may not do consensus, then is a rate hike. What are you expecting in terms of language as it relates to the situation and the global state of play in economics? Yeah. Good morning. Well, I think in some substantial decision, of course, twenty five basis point hike and given the strength of the economy. The facts inflation is pretty much at or above target and all of inflation measures strongest jobs market, forty years and asset prices keep rising. The fed have got no the choice spent keep rising keep raising rates. And I think given that backdrop we're going to be continuing to see them state that policy remains accommodative, and that they'll continue racing great synagogue fashion say it's very much a continuation of what we've seen for the last year or so now as we were saying earlier this over economists that Bloomberg carried out head of the fed decision. This time around stated that there will be yes, a writer session rate hike this time around. But then also it will continue its gradual increase another twenty five basis points every quarter until at least September of next year. Are you on board with that with this sort of drumbeat or of rate hikes? I mean, if you look at the backdrop right now, then yes. It would suggest that we're gonna see continuing rate hikes from the fed, and we send anything that's going to continue through to the first quarter, but we're little bit cautious that I guess there's still a love incessantly regarding next year, and you've got a fading fiscal stimulus. You've got the fact that you've got many she policy having been tightened the stronger dollar is. Well, all sacks is a break at a time. When you've got those sentences relating to trade, and of course of major market worries as well so to continue predicting rates going on for another year. Plus, I think a bit of a stretch. So we've got a pause for the second quarter right now. Are you a dollar Buller dollar bear Barclays? They boosted their forecasts for the dollar across the board. Whether you stand I think the dollar will remain supported, I think the US macro story rings incredibly strong. And when you contrast that with Europe, it's it's probably half the rates of American. Of course, Europe is still going to be a very long way away from racing greats in the very near term. Yeah. But I think there is growing up semi look at marriage. Argues common. Silly this week talking about this relatively vigorous pickup in core. Inflation. They still pretty upbeat on the European prospects. And if we do see signs of material growth coming through the euro dollar story could reverse be looking for a strong euro as through next year or I'd say, you're a dollar this morning fairly sedate at one spot seventeen sixty four as where once again help building up to that Federal Reserve decision coming up James nine Leah.
