"Feel more like an organic like next step as opposed to bring a whole new color into the picture that doesn't mesh with that. Great. It reminded when I was going through this. It reminded me of a quote from your your your guy Thomas, Edison. Oh, yeah. You know, when you're talking about like these these opportunities to build your optimal path or not necessarily like these big obvious things. But they're just next steps in next puzzle. He's this famous quote was opportunities missed by most people because it's dressed in overalls and looks like work what is liquidity due to someone's psyche. When they have decisions that come out of someone who's got multiple six figures in the Bank versus someone who's got ten grand in the Bank or fifty grand in the Bank. It changes everything. I mean, you you talked about how it was. It was part. Partially responsible for where people like Burt Reynolds or another example written about before was John Elway. And you see these people with really successful is to have one or two big bets that they made on something with a lot of their liquidity that didn't pan out and they're typically in things that are unrelated to their gradient puzzle. Right. They're they're they're not they're like, they grabbed a red piece in a gray puzzle. And they are like try to like, whoa. Not only is that not your automobile path. But like you nothing about that. You took a big risk on that thing. Yeah. That's where this whole thing kind of falls apart. That's where this thing mesh, these concept of no and liquidity kind of come together in my experience, if you feel stressed out with money, and I've been there many times. That's why no that this is true. Is that when I fell stressed out or when I feel worried that's because I've gotten myself into a position where a little to a liquid. I've over overcommitted to some investments or lifestyle purchases or expansion goals either in my business or personally, and I'm in a spot where I feel like I don't have as many options. Right. I and I I feel like I'm having to say, yes. In a way that feels unnatural, and I think that's that's a good kind of general rule of thumb a lot of people listening to this or like probably be able to relate to that idea of feeling a little bit stressed out. Because when you have the I mean, even if all your money when we say liquidity, we're talking about cash in the personal or practice checking account, which shouldn't exceed a certain amount. But once you have we'll call it six months worth of personal and you have between one and a half and two times, you You know. know, maybe business overhead in the practice to growing really really fast. I would say you need a little more than that. Maybe as much as three or four times monthly overhead if you're like in stagnation mode and kind of like, we'll call it just organic growth three to five percent a year and collections. Maybe you can stay at that kind of one and a half, maybe even as low as one and a quarter times your monthly over. That's.

In there, I feel like as always we gotta get this adds that are the way I, we lost somebody and we haven't had a podcast episode since then, but Reynolds, Burt. Yeah, that did really bummed me out. Yeah, it was surprise. I feel like I wasn't expected like, I don't know. And you know, probably coming kinda, I thought there was going to be one Super Bowl than probably coming died, doing what he wants. Yeah. If you do what you love, you'll never work at eight. Yeah, I think nodes will be remembered best for his ejaculation, God. This is where we've gone to immediately. Without mentioning one of his films. Do you. Yeah, I thought there was gonna be one more like boogie nights as resurgence of Bir supposed to be. He was going to be the team, which is a perfect fit really unfortunate. Now, chances are he would have come out after the fact against the movie, like he did with nights. Yeah, but, hey, you know what? Yeah, Burt Reynolds. Magic of him. He's just, I and I love. Burt. Reynolds movies. Yeah, I've like I own a lot of them. I not just in my, you know, let's get some funny VHS movies collection, but like I've I own the the pursuit pack. Yeah, bandit the series on I I've got a couple. I have a couple of Burt Reynolds double features like heat and Malone, and yeah, you know. One. One of those I haven't seen in the one that I have seen. Oh, boy, which one of you seen? I've seen that heap. Oh, Malone is way back that. Yeah, I've been. I actually have to watch now. I had I made a little pile of like I should have watched these by now movies and one of them was Malone. Right? Love his another one that has sharpies machine. Got that. Ready to go. Good movie. Yeah, he's machine and what and heat? Yeah, yeah. There was a movie last year called the last movie star, right? That apparently isn't like the greatest movie ever. But performance in is apparently like people are going to look back on this and be like, holy shit. This movie's not amazing. But yeah, a lot of those, he's a lot of bad movies that he's always fun because he's he's, you know, he's a movie star. Yeah, like just in, you know. You know, he's bigger than life and some of his performances are just like winking at the camera, but God love and Ford. So few people can pull that off manner. You know, I'll always remember Burt Reynolds as being movie star who was barely in the movies. Gonna be like everyone else was in the movie, and he was just in front of the game. Then like, you know, I guess sort of like nNcholas cage every once in a while be like, oh, fuck, do. I'm gonna turn it on. Yeah, you know? Yeah. I feel like it's easy for someone like me. That's a little bit younger to forget..

"And us as viewers. Something more substantive, something deeper than being merely inefficient vehicle for his almost unmatched. Really? Yeah. I mean, it is inefficient vehicle for that, and I'm so glad we chose to catch up with this to dig into his work begin really to dig into his work because I would not have even recognized him. I think if I didn't already have an awareness that he was in deliverance because my picture of Burt Reynolds is so ingrained, none of these films have I seen all the way through, I think, but as a kid just seen flashes by in the culture of smokey and the bandit none of him run in the sort of, you know, grinning smarmy the guy on the bear rug in the Playgirl spread is just who I think of as Burt Reynolds, and and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I not saying there is, but that's not a guy that I would have equated with the performance that's given in this film, I guess is what I'm saying? Because this is a. Part that could have been played at those volume levels? I think of those as loud characters just in in my memory in the snippets I've seen k- Reynolds was a very big presence, and I think this is part of what was he was kind of skewering himself in something like boogie nights, you kind of had to have that idea of him for that performance to work. But here he's playing an alpha male. The biggest guy in this story, right? The manly man in this story, but he carries it with ease. He, he's not putting it on. He's not going. You're not barking at anyone when he delivers those lines. Those philosophical musings. They come out as matter of fact, as this is just who he is as a guy, I think there's a difference. I love the Kurtz comparison that didn't strike me, but that's that's really, really smart. The difference I think is that Kurtz is there to establish. Kingdom and Lewis, even though he is the closest thing to an environmentalist in this group, I was really pissed about this project because it's going to destroy his weekend play space, but he's still a consumer of the wilderness, right? He comes in, he's got the slickest outfit, the rubber vast. He's got the compass, watch all the equipment. He comes into the wilderness to take what he wants as a weekend or and then he leaves. He's not really there to exist as part. And I think that's a through line that that was a surprise to me about deliverance, those scenes, you mention, obviously, I was aware of those. I had some vague idea of what the story was and the most notorious elements, but I didn't realize that this was also an ecological nightmare that this was looking ahead more than anything. I think it's also a deconstruction masculinity and we'll probably get into that yet, but it really registered for me as this nightmare about the and will get to the most notorious seen the raping of the earth that's going on and how that metaphorically does is reflected in some of the specific violence that we encounter in this story. Well, we could certainly parse the bigness own meter of Burt Reynolds performances in all of his films. If we had the time and had the knowledge, we haven't seen really enough. Films, but I will disagree with you a little bit in your assessment of Reynolds, not in this film. I think you're dead on in terms of his stillness, but just today, I managed rewatch smoking the band at and I saw starting over another film from his in the seventies, and the one thing that stood out to me in both of those films and indolence and all three couldn't be more different. You know, starting over is this James l. Brooks screenplay about him as a husband who's left by Candice Bergen at the beginning of the movie, and he just wants to be with someone against so badly. And he's just kind of lost and he's very docile. It's completely the opposite of Louis here and of course of the bandit in smoking the Bennett. But the common denominator is how small the performances are even in smoking in the bandit how much of it. He just, let's come to him onscreen. He's got kind of that self deprecating sense of humor, the Grinch Shir. But other than that, it's not a big casual reform. There's like, what? Casualness. Yeah, and it's really. See here..

"We end with longest yard the way it ends is kind of the perfect Burt Reynolds ending, and it's a theme of a lot of his stuff where, like I know I have all this stuff going on. That's seems like it's good, but I'm really, I'm sad inside and I deserve my fate and longest longest yard. It's like you are going to spend a lot more time in prison. If you don't lose this game, and he hits a point resign, you know, my life sucks. Anyway. I'm gonna wanna win this one game, and that's fine. ABI in prison for the rest of my life. This is what I deserve. Wanted to see him die in the end. Like the end was about a guy trying to kill himself with a huge hit with fellow is I guess the worst thing Burt Reynolds ever did was inflict on deluise as an actor on us, so we'll, we'll forgive him for that. Here's fantasies top five number five, longest yard number four strip tease the Macri semi tough number two boogie nights number one, deliverance. And he wrote about deliverance on our site today or last night or something. Just about how making the case, how Burt was the rare former athlete who transitioned into actually being a famous actor, which a lot of tried to nobody has really pulled that off. Well, we'll miss Burt. Reynolds see, definitely belong to different era that a natural exists anymore. I think everything. No Bradley Cooper like people who could could if they wanted to do a version of this. I think Bradley Cooper Bradley Cooper could just spend his time doing version of what Reynolds did I. I'm glad you brought him up because I was going to make that point. I forgot deliverance comes out and seventy two and barons becomes a real star in it, but you still need that second one after the one that you the breakthrough hit to kind of prove your movie star. And I think longest yard was that for him two years later where it's nobody else could have been in this movie. I'm a movie star. And for Bradley Cooper, weirdly was limitless and came out like three years after the hangover kinda stupid generic like weird, crazy pride. I actually thought it's a really smart plot, but the kind of movie that kind of comes and goes and Bradley Cooper carried it, and it made a lot of money. And I think it made everybody realize like always a movie star, and I don't think we were convinced until weirdly limitless came out. And I think that was the case for longest yard had before we go. And we have to go because we had to football Joe house. Where where where do you rank for stars born on a scale, one to ten for an anticipation under the anticipation level right now. I mean, it's pretty high. I've seen it. So I'm saw. Saw it on a couple of weeks ago. We're. New York City with the hell. How do you tell me this. 'cause I didn't want to ruin it for you. Oh, just give me don't say anything. Just give me a grade. On, like what kind of grade eight f eighty ADA f I'd say be plus. Oh, all right. This is wrong. Be plus. This is the ringers most anticipated movie of of two thousand eighteen. We've had more conversations debates in our movie slack people posting trailers. Nobody knows what to expect. It is an old school, non comic book. Just a really interesting polarizing movie was stars that I wanna see in a movie theater and not on my own TV which doesn't happen in the director. You know he's a, he's a real director and a movie star obviously, and and she is. I mean, she is. She's she's good. Wow, I can't wait for this. I can't believe on this excited for the stars board rebate, but I can't believe it either, but it's like it's a. I mean, it's just one of those stories that. "Local convenience store. So. So I had I really battled between one and two, and I'm gonna go. Even though it's it's a number one movie for me. I'm going number two for Burt Reynolds just because he's older. It's a different stage of his career, but boogie nights. Oh, Burt Reynolds is Jack Horner. It is one of my ten favorite movies ever. He at that point had his movie career really fell apart. Eighty four eighty five. His to wish we haven't talked about is to pays yet. His to pay game became Howard Cosell slash William Shatner. And all of a sudden ages got old. Then he wasn't didn't have the same charisma anymore. And you hit this kind of kind of limbo stage between being an old actor and being the the young hug great actor Hung-chi that he was in the seventies early age up to you for one second. Just to talk about that stretch like from smoking. Like, let's say, from stroke, her age. With Clint Eastwood and stiff. Eighty four. He goes from stick like just naming some of the some of the greatest link non hit hits city. He stick Malone rent a cop LIZA Minelli. I mean evidence, and then we, he made he cop and a half he made he'd in when it would come up on cable. You know, the last twenty years. You get excited 'cause he was on and then it was it's the Burt Reynolds heat. So it was just a rough stretch, and then he married Lonnie Anderson and they were just the creepiest weirdest couple. And he says, he said after it was the biggest regret of his life. He made that show evening shade on CBS with Marilu Henner was rife. He's like a failed high school coach and was just hitting this. Yeah, he was going to what it was a demo, and I wasn't a part of it was geared toward like people Forty-five and up and just kind of. Yeah, and just kind of became a TV actor and then boogie nights brings him back boogie nights gets. Just starts getting a shitload of buzz and ninety six as it's being made. This is a huge skied. This directors can be big deal Mark Wahlberg in it. It's a huge cast. This is on the hills of Pulp Fiction when it was like these indie movies with famous people were starting to become a thing, and he's immediately distancing himself for the movie and it's just there's a whole weird vibe, but people are still excited about it and it comes out and he's fucking Burt Reynolds. Again, he he's completely revived as whatever charisma had. It's not as sexual because Jack corners that really a sexual character. But it's definitely, you know, a appreciate sacks values. It wants to turn it into art is a great scene when they're cutting whatever the turf bigger movie is. And the guys like does the best film we've ever made in the in. The guy is that is like it's a real film Jack and he's like this one. They're gonna. Remember me by. It's just he. He. He's his father figures slash. Kind of artists in a world where that were porn is just heading toward video cassettes and just as grisly ending, and he's great in it, and I can't imagine anybody else in it. I can't imagine a better career revival part than that. Now he was in strip tease fantasy that will read fantasies top five at the end stripped he's cracked it. So it's not like he hadn't tried the comeback part, but this data bet is as well as possibly could have. It's hard to imagine anyone else in the row and he had real tension with Mark Wahlberg that spills out in the pool scene where they get in the fight and really does seem like they're gonna fight. And Paul, Thomas Anderson said on this podcast that it really was tense for those two days in a lot of stuff spilled over in that scene, and you can feel it really seems like they're gonna start punching each other great role for him. Fantastic, iconic movie, and that's my deep. Why did he distanced himself from it? I think he didn't. He never saw it..

Look, this is football movie with lake, terrible football seats, right? This is a movie is a football movie with terrible football or like rushed montage, he I don't understand football football scenes, but that was okay because anybody would seeing him in swimming toughened and already seen Burt Reynolds in the longest yard. So they got great football sequences, but INA, Burt Reynolds. And I love this movie because it is it'd be, I would say to these second best use of Burt Reynolds movie starner's. He was in his comic timing was never better than it was in this movie. He had never owned his hotness the, we owned it in this movie and it's really important to to talk about one one, very crucial aspect of Burt Reynolds, and I think. I don't know if it's the Keita's starting, but it's definitely the key to an aspect of his starting which is his mystique. Yup. Yup. Normally with movie stars, they say anyway, that the that, what you like the ideal movie star has cute is the great big is Burt Reynolds has the tiniest is in the history of a movie star. "We have our top three left. What's yours? Number three. I'm gonna just I'm doing this. So we can talk about a whole genre birth that we probably wouldn't get to talk about. Otherwise. Also, I really like him in this movie is starting over those. My number three. I always said that was what I said. I had a surprise for you. The top five by number three is starting over. I fucking love starting over. Go ahead. Okay. So the movie is basically Burt Reynolds gets divorced by Candice. Bergen who parenthetically is the on sexy in this movie. I agree. Yeah, she's crazy sexy. I can't even in the movie, the movie needs to be sexy because it's part of the plot, but holy, holy expletive. Anyway, the sexiest she the sexiest moments are heard career where this movie. And then when she hosted us Adele and she had this charisma batter in the way she was interacting with all the cast members. The first time she hosted it, which was like the tenth episode in that. That's another one. It's like Sally field. It's like there. There was something there that she was afraid to go for, but sometimes it came out and it definitely came out in this movie and Burt Reynolds. I mean, I would love. I mean, I don't know if valley field is going to ever talk about Burt Reynolds again, but I would just love to hear some of these women. They're all still alive. I mean, joke labor is still alive like I would love to hear them. Talk about what it was like to do is seen with this man. Bergen he had like like your Candice Bergen talk about making like jeering scenes and in six scenes with Burt Reynolds. Anyway, this movie Candice, Bergen divorced through divorces him. This is like in the seventies late seventies went divorced with a new thing for the movies. Yeah, and Kramer versus Kramer this move in a couple of others. But it was like those kind of a run of divorce. One was, I agree, and my parents are divorced. So I saw them. And it's weird too, because this I mean they were. They were a lot of them are focused on men like was like for the man to be single to. And so single, Burt Reynolds leave New York moves to Boston to smooth the back bay and is set up by Charles learning and Francis Sternhagen with Jill Kleber and they just start this relation. She's also been recently divorced, and they start this. They start dating and it just is a very sort of James l. Brooks wrote this movie, it's worth saying, so there's a kind of humanity in wit in the amenities that really works wasn't this wasn't this his first screenplay that he actually wrote. Because at this point he was a TV guy. I think this might have been fence movie. I film business for screenplay. It makes sense. When you know that it's James l. Brooks screenplay, at least the movie makes a lot more sense. Why it's much better than you think it's going to be. Yes, by the thing is, I mean, so it's really mean to joke labor in a way like for the spend, their the greed, the greed scene in the movie is the dunk take seat right where it's just a real comic emotional feet for her, and he is so casual. She's basically she's a schoolteacher and I guess there's some fundraiser, I don't know exactly know why they're having this dunk tank, but she is, you know, agreeing to be to sit on the plank of the dunk tank. And you know, she's asking the girls and the women come on girls and women like you can do it. You've got a great arm Sally at the button and women team to take the challenge in Burt Reynolds who she has just broken up with like the second time because she's totally neurotic, comes up and starts throwing balls at.

Despite don't just be no with little take off his outerwear and just walk around for the rest of the movie in this wetsuit. It's good. It's it's. It was one of the most controversial movies of the seventies and lead to a lotta squeal like a pig jokes and all that stuff. And now it's, it's like three generations removed. Nobody remembers, but it was the movie that put runs on the map. What's your number? Four number four sharpies machine. Oh, all right. Make the case. So here's why I picked this. I picked this because Burke directed it. I think it's the best of the what five movies the Burt Reynolds directed. And I, there is this is this is just on its face just like a crime cop thriller, but you realize a lot of things. You learn a lot about an actor about a movie star. I should say when they when they make movies for themselves and one of the things you learn about Burt Reynolds, particularly in shark machine is that he liked black people. Shark machine is basically a blaxploitation movie starring Burt Reynolds, and it is also like a very deepened crime thriller the had submit creepy things in it. Like I do remember the plot of this movie. You know, I haven't seen it in a while, but I was a big defender for years and years, and I just remember they, it was during this stretch from like eighty one to eighty three, where they would do these kind of action thrillers, but they, they always had like some sort of dark element like they would go ten percent too far with something, and I can't remember what it was in this movie. The ten percent too far is the amount of time to boot it. The spying on Rachel ward? Oh yeah. She's a dancer prostitute who is basically the a governor gubernatorial candidate concubine played by Earl holliman by the way who I will confess to having. We have not talked about how hot and for Burt Reynolds. So teams are wrong to say, I think Earl holliman table that. Okay. Okay. All right. But anyway, she plays the conflict. Basically the concubine of Earl holliman the guy, the French dude controlling him and the victim of the assassin higher to assassinate her because she she's jeopardizing the campaign basically. And so there's a twenty minute sequence where Burt Reynolds and Bernie Casey who's really good in this movie. Yeah, it's him Brian, Keith, Bernie, Bernie, Casey, Brian, Keith. Burt Reynolds, Charles turning plays like the the sheriff or whatever. The sheriff, the police Lieutenant or captain, and they're just spying reach award. It's super duper weird. He starts tearing up at some point when she's when she's made love to buy this French dude gets. It's Dockery. It's Dockery, but not despite that, but there's something about the generosity of spirit. There's a lot of time devoted to Rachel Ward's character before she's both fucked and killed. You kind of have an understanding even in the limited drawing of this character that you know, this is a woman with ambitions in dreams and hopes and sexual desires that don't have anything to do with how much man winter and the whole time. Burt Reynolds or Bernie Casey or Brian, Keith is watching her reveal herself in this way. A lot of to them just sitting around doing nothing been. Burt Reynolds is just there the conic command that he has just like just in a scene with five other dudes. He's gotten. He got really trim the thing about, but Reynolds did meet him hot. I thought one of the things. The round is off his face Riemann base and in a full moon phase and in charge machine. It's like a credit or like a half move. He just got really trim and just looked great. And he's both funny and serious and you buy him in this and the reason I put it on this list and put it number four it just because it's the best of the movies that he made..

"On the line right now was Morris, we'd be meaning talk to them for a while. He has gone well, which is my fault because he should be on all the time. Burt Reynolds died and he got me thinking, oh yeah, that was in. We gotta talk about Burt Reynolds, the biggest star of the seventies I'm older than you. The hierarchy was probably Burt Reynolds, Redford Newman. And if you look at their, I m DB's. It doesn't totally back that up, but there was no bigger movie star. When I was a kid, then Burt Reynolds. What was your reaction. I didn't even know he was. I didn't know anything. I should've known. He was sick, but I didn't even know he was eighty two. I know I know you could've told me he was ninety two or seventy two. I think I would have believed the twenty year age. You told me his IMDB was really interesting because he has like this whole twelve year TV career before deliverance. So he was clearly clearly banging out gigs for a while there. And then then deliverance happened and everything took off. We're gonna play a little game today. Top-five. This is something fantasy in Chris Ryan did on either the watch of the big picture. I can't remember Spielberg had something coming out and they decided to their top five Spielberg movies and went backwards candidate from five to one alternated back and forth. So somebody goes five, other goes five. Then it goes to four. And the first time a new movie comes up. We'll talk about the movie then this is gonna work. I know it sounds confusing. I asked you to a top five. I did my top staff your fifth best. Burt Reynolds movie. What was it. I'm going to pick. Okay. So I'm doing Burt Reynolds in the movie slash for rentals, movies. So my number five is the only kind of like, oh, come on the game, but the I don't even know what three minutes he hasn't silent movie who silent movie. I wasn't expecting that violent movie, man. He is not very much plays. Burt Reynolds playing. Burt Reynolds and the the joke. Of course everybody was in seen Millbrook this movie it is. It is still funny. It has some of the best use of Burt Reynolds an and Bancroft Malcolm Brooks, his wife keep. Basically, you know, they find him in the shower is he's basically washed lathered up by hand. You can't see that we know are Dom deluise is and malpractices. He's been seduced into making this silent movie with them and his see he just. Sorry, the thing about Burt Reynolds. That's so great about the sequence. And you know it'll become more clear why he was a great movie star. While we talk about him is he's so there. The thing that I have about Burt Reynolds or that experience watching Burt Reynolds and the reason one of the reasons I think he was a star is it. He's got this thing called Schwab Burke, great lake where you. He, he's not agreed actor. He's agreed something else, and this is something else that he has is this property that belongs only and Mel Brooks was so aware of key doesn't get enough credit for identifying great talent, sort of great raw talent and people that isn't necessarily comedic and then taking those properties and making them funny. But he does that for these. This, this brief interlude in silent movie with Burt Reynolds, and it's just he's so self mockingly happy and hot in this movie. That's that's number five. For me. He's a movie star in the pure sense, he can be in a bad movie but doesn't get any of these sludge of the movie on him because he made a lot of bad move. And I think there's very few people, especially now I. You know, I think we have a lot of movie stars now that we've either grown up with we've developed since the nineties or whatever you wanna say there's very few movie very few stars that can just be like in a stinker and you still don't blame them for it. Like even Tom Cruise, who I who's that his fair share, I share stinkers. You blame him for the stinker. It's come on Tom Cruise, like Jack Reacher to not a good movie. I blamed Tom Cruise for I didn't if Burt Reynolds had been in the equivalent of Jack richer to, I never would have blamed him for it. But all Burt Reynolds did with Jack Reacher. I know that's my point. Even hers edema star, right? Exactly..

"I found, you know, whatever somebody dies in evitable. There are a number of stories you learn upon their passing that maybe you didn't realize during their lifetime. And you know, for whatever reason I was maybe not the biggest fan of Burt Reynolds. And so far as you know, I didn't follow his career explicitly. You know, I think my my one recollection upon his death was the episode where he appeared in the golden girls, which is just like a classic golden girls episode that aside he turned down a ton of roles and not just rolls that you're like, oh, that's interesting roles that would have redefined not only the role of the person being played. But also the person playing the role. I think it would have redefined Burt Reynolds career, if for example, you knew that do we want to I know you've got some clips Holly. Do we want to start with maybe the first one and give people a little taste of a role that he turned down. Yes here. It

"On ESPN radio, Mike. Do we have anything to honor? Burt Reynolds? Do we have anything to celebrate his life as a friend of the show? Many people yesterday reach out to our show when they learned of his passing because they've heard the great. Stories that Burt Reynolds is told around here over the years and Burt Reynolds. I don't know where he ranks and show history, but there is a certain affinity for him that the audience has that our audience has that has been cultivate cultivated over his, you know, late in life appearances. I can't believe that tarintino tarintino was gonna, put him in another movie. He reinvented himself with boogie nights right at. But he had across the eighties. He had offered to him every job in the movies that went on to become a blockbuster, and he just couldn't take them all, but they're all every every major job that required a leading man in Hollywood for her what ten years he was. He was the place that people went. So we have something ready to honor him as passes away yesterday at the age of eighty two, we produce something. We have to make an edit to it because of us pined. It was so sad and it added made me want to cry. And that's going. For them. We want to celebrate the life of an amazing actor, pop culture icon and an incredible show guests who are going to alter the music a little bit, but that montage will be on its way soon. Okay, very good. So we will be able to talk about Burt Reynolds then what he smiling about. I've just might just so many good movies like Sharkey machine and cannonball, Ron, just so many good movies, and I don't think people realize he was like, I think he was. He was a sex symbol was enough overlord. As he was he, he had the celebrity marriage a long time ago with Lonnie Anderson. It was a disaster. The National Enquirer was reporting on it all the time. He got mad and he took from his farm helicopter that just producing their cow manure or horse manure and just dumped it on the headquarters of the National Enquirer. And that's why that I saw someone on Twitter, say, you may think your cool, but you will never be as cool as Burt Reynolds dumping manure on the National Enquirer. He's Papa, don't give away the the entire montage here and also hit the love of his life that they never actually tied the knot with Sally field star crossed lovers just could never make at work all called her the love of his life, but they can never make it work and he had a woman problem. Women problem. Yeah, and it was actually pretty cool to see that when the news came down, not only was pert Reynolds trending, but turned Ferguson. Was trending too, because of norm McDonald's celebrity jeopardy. SNL sketches, which a lot of people a lot of people maybe younger that don't know the apex of Sean Connery. Burt Reynolds, they know of those guys through the celebrity jeopardy sketch hold on. If you had to select, you can only select one. We've had this conversation a lot around here who we've had so many people from SNL on over the years. And so many of the people have gone from SNL to the big things that will Ferrell has gone to, and we're always asking them. Give us the three or four best SNL people of all time. But I don't think we've asked that question. You can only take one SNL skit for all time. One that echoes across the the decades. Is it cowbell is it? Is it this? Is it the jeopardy that is it Eddie Murphy as James Brown or or Gumby? Like what? If you can only take one, what's the one that you would take? Actually wanna have this conversation. Let's get in here on this because they're like that shows don't run that long. What's in the discussion? Like let's let's give the audience and stuff to you. Gotta go characters, right? You gotta go, Dana Carvey characters like you've got a, it's got to be. I mean, the the graduates of that show are amazing. I mean, some of the best ones are the ones where the characters break and not Jimmy Fallon break. I mean, like break break..

"Matt thanks for joining me talking about the life of an icon in Hollywood actor Burt Reynolds died yesterday at the age of eighty two apparently it was a heart attack heart attack, cardiac arrest said Jupiter. Center down in Florida. And you know, I it was a sad day yesterday. But I gotta tell you what I got home. I said, whatever let's pop in cannonball run and have a laugh, and I just almost two hours straight. I laughed like I was thirteen years old again because that's the thing with Burt Reynolds for people like me of a certain age when we were kids, and we were watching cannonball, run smoking. Yeah. On on HBO at all hours and everything we wanted to be the bandit. We wanted to transam. We wanted to turn on the charm the whip that left wait a slap Dom deluise around whatever the man had presence. He was the definition of the movie star, and we're going to miss them. Absolutely. It's so funny. You say that my husband called me yesterday. And I said, hey, how are you? When he goes not so good. And I go why what's wrong, and he goes the bandits gone. And I said only God are you serious? And to the point. I see what you're talking about that we have on our Christmas tree transient. We have the car. My husband's from Georgia. We've actually stopped on roadways where he knows smokey and the bandit was filmed and taken a picture of Scott standing some random corner. But that's how important a lot of Burt Reynolds movies were to a lifetime of people. Right. And it's not just the passing of an individual. It's it's the passing of a certain era in film. I mean, how Needham films like smoke in the bandit, cannonball run that sort of thing again, th they they help to find a very very specific era of pop culture there. But when you go back and you look at birds body of work. I mean, even from his early stuff and gunsmoke, and then, of course, deliverance, I mean, he was an absolute bad ass in deliverance. Okay. And he could go from the dramatic to the comedy in a blink of an eye. And you know, what he was his own. Worst critic if you read his book from a couple years ago, it's called but enough about me. It's a really great memoir. He said that he didn't open himself to new writers or risky parts. I wasn't interested in challenging myself as an actor. I was. Interested in having a good time. And he certainly did. I mean, but years later, he said that you know, that probably didn't serve him. Well, and then when he makes a movie like boogie nights, and he gets nominated for for kademi award. He gets the Golden Globe. Or do you know that after he saw initially he fired his agent because he thought he was terrible in it. Meeting. You imagine that. I mean, that's the kind of the guy that he wasn't. He was his own worst critic. And then in later years, you know, in the nineties down in Jupiter. He opens the Burt Reynolds theater, he starts teaching masterclasses and acting and a friend of mine by name, Tracy Johnson. She's an upcoming actress she had a really great post on Instagram, and I just want to read this really quick a very sad day.
