Same-Sex Marriage Bill Advances in Congress

"The defense of marriage act repeal is coming before the Senate soon, and it's past the house, some of my very best friends in the Christian legal movement, for example, the lines depending freedom, oppose Republicans signing on to this. I support them doing so. The complicated part is the politics, according to The Washington Post, actually it's not. It's the theology, like other mainline Catholics and Christians, I believe that human intimacy is reserved for a man and a woman inside the bounds of marriage. But the United States supermajority of people don't, obergefell leapfrogged the constitutional process and slammed down obergefell in a 5 four decision. I would have joined the chief justices descent at the time the decision, but since that time unlike after roe, there has been acquiescence of the states, no efforts to overturn a burger fell, and unlike roe, enormous reliance. I believe it's a half million Americans are in the same sex marriage. And that number will grow every year. So the idea that obergefell is going to be challenging the states is absurd, the idea that the Supreme Court would ever retreat on that is absurd, but people who oppose same sex marriage should realize that we want the precedence of uncontested decisions like those involving the for exercise clause over the last ten years to stick. And in the long term, when the left rises up, we want them to have to run into a decisive and reliance interest, and by codifying obergefell, they might want to add an amendment to codify Trinity Lutheran and the hobby lobby decisions, et cetera. But they should vote for it.

The Narrative of Bad White Guys vs. Bad Black Guys

"You know, there's a powerful narrative that has emerged about how all these white bad guys, like the shooter and highland park, Illinois. Or the shooter in Charleston, South Carolina. That monster who massacred those black churchgoers at mother Emanuel church. They brought him or so the narrative goes, Burger King. In fact, the urban legend is they took that monster to Burger King. So he could get, I guess, a whopper before they took him to prison. They didn't take him to Burger King, but as they were interrogating him, and he had gone hours and hours without eating. They brought him food. And the narrative for a lot of people is, look at that. They're bringing the white guy Burger King in jail. And the black guy in Akron, Ohio gets shot 60 times.

A Deeper Look at Cassidy Hutchinson's 'Bombshell' Testimony

"The latest witness call by the January 6th committee was Cassidy Hutchinson and aid or former aide to Mark Meadows, who was the chief of staff under Trump. And Cassidy Hutchinson's testimony was immediately hailed by the media. And in fact, even by some on the right, I mean, I'm thinking of Andy McCarthy at national review, very compelling Brett bear, of course, yes, he was completely convinced completely on board. Crushing testimony and so on in the media, of course, was hailing this. She's sort of the latest savior. On the supposedly with the Republican tag. This was part of the game. You bring in people who are nominally Republican, you say, look, even a Republican says. And she put out a whole bunch of stuff. I mean, a good bit of it was just hearsay things that she had heard of things that she had been told. But it was sufficiently salacious, sufficiently bombshell ish that the media glommed right onto them, specifically two things. One is it supposedly at one point Trump got so upset, upset when Barr told him that he had lost the election that he flung his food, presumably a hamburger, Trump's favorite, up against the wall, leaving some ketchup on the wall and Cassidy Hutchinson, I had to clean it up. Now, when I first heard this, I literally chuckled because first of all, it's hard for me to see Trump doing that, but you know what, to be honest, if an election was stolen from me under my nose, I would be a little irate. I don't think I'd have thrown a burger against the wall. I think I like burgers too much, but my comment on Twitter was, do we have the full story on this if Trump really threw the burger and fell on the ground? Did Bill Barr like reach down and eat it? Hard for me to see Bill Barr turning down a burger. And but in any event, Trump, of course, was extremely scornful and Trump makes the comment on truth social. He goes, why would she have to clean it up? First of all, she does she was not a member of my staff. He goes, I don't even know who she was. And then the supposedly the big bombshell was an anecdote and incident about Trump who wanted to go to the capitol. On January 6th and was so apparently enraged that the Secret Service was reluctant to take him that he reached over and tried to grab the steering wheel of the car. Now at first people were like, I think Cassidy Hutchinson may even have said it. This was actually the so called the beast, the big limousine, the Trump limousine. And if that was the case, this would be flat out impossible.

Let's Not Overlook Another Important Decision Affecting Voter ID in NC

"I want to talk about another important case recently decided by the Supreme Court that has been a little sidelined because of the big decisions on gun rights, the big decisions on preying on the football field and of course the biggest decision of all the decision that God decision regarding that overturned roe versus wade, the case I want to talk about is called burger versus North Carolina state conference of the NAACP. And here is what's going on in that case. It's a voter ID case. So North Carolina passed a law basically saying that you need to have voter ID. You can't vote without proper ID. And this has now been contested in court. The voter ID law. But as it so happens, the Secretary of State, I'm sorry, the attorney general of North Carolina is a Democrat. He's opposed to voter ID. And so in a kind of irony, you got the NAACP suing to get rid of voter ID. And by the way, think of how ridiculous it says. This is the NAA suite basically saying that blacks don't know how to get ID. These are the same blacks, by the way, that travel on a plane. And get ID. Make doctors appointments and show their ID, open bank accounts, ensure their ID, but somehow when it comes to vote, they don't know how to get an ID and so an ID requirement becomes somehow racist, it becomes discriminatory. It becomes, quote, voter suppression, I mean, is requiring you to show ID at the TSA, travel suppression, when the bank says show me your ID before you cash a check is that banking suppression, nonsense. But in any event, you have this case, the NAACP wants to get rid of voter ID and the NAACP is counting on the attorney general of North Carolina a Democrat to be on their side. Now he's supposed to be defending the law, but he doesn't agree with the law. And so the point is he's going to make it's almost like a prosecutor who wants the guy who's accused to get off. And so what is he going to do? He's going to put on a really bad case. He's going to put on a bad case of the jewelry goes, wow, maybe the guy didn't do it. So he healed withhold evidence that is incriminating why because he doesn't agree with the prosecution. He doesn't want to go forward. And that's what's going on here. And so the Republicans basically step in and go listen, we want to be able to file briefs that support voter ID because we don't believe that the democratic attorney general is going to do a good job defending a law that was in fact passed by a Republican legislature. So that was the issue. And so earlier, lower court judges had said to the Republicans, you don't know, you can't intervene here. It's the job of the democratic attorney general to defend voter ID. If he does a bad job, he does a bad job, but it is his job. And so the question here went before the Supreme Court is simply this, do the Republicans who have an interest in the law. They passed the law. Have the right to be able to weigh in on the case. They can't displace the democratic attorney general, but they can file briefs that say to the court here are our reasons for why voter ID is a good idea. And the Supreme Court goes, yes, they can do that. You can't prevent them from doing that. In other words, the whole idea here is that our legal process is

"burger " Discussed on Yeah, That's Probably an Ad

"I love the writing adore. He talked about the metrics that you've put towards that's what have you seen in terms of from the prime state. So in terms of plant based, we're doing well, this is something that's function mentioned before. We're bringing new products all in time. So we need to have new platforms also to keep that alive. But then we put things together. So overall, we're doing well with plant based. And this is something that we see across across the planet. Yeah, and one thing that is that is like a big sign of acceptance and how it was working is that the fact that the first campaign was launching a few markets, and the second one was like, okay, I want that. I want that. I want that. Not only because many markets were on cheap chicken, but because they saw how it worked, right? And that sentence is a great, great partner. Because he sells the work really well. It usually happens with global brands and then you do something in a market. People see how successful it was. And then everyone wants to jump in. So this year too has been bigger and hopefully year three when we have, you know, more easily provided confusingly. Confusing trilogy. No, because I don't know markets, right? Because the numbers are yellow, we just prepared the FD case last week and it was good. I need to ask the agency the brand you guys have had a really long relationship now. What is it that, I mean, Burger King is such an ideas machine as well when it comes to his marketing. What is a Burger King campaign or can you actually say that's a Burger King idea and that would be perfect for a campaign? There's just so many ideas that come out. So I mean, as a client, I think that the biggest issue with brands is lack of bravery. Lack of actually doing things. It's not like creativity. I'm not, of course, I'm not saying that everyone is like these gentlemen here. So really. But it's not, it's not a lack of ideas, usually that tends to be the biggest issue. It's a lack of belief that creativity does something for your brand for your business for growing things further. So it's like it's a constant discussion. What's up so many times a week or a day that it's always new things that we want to do. And when there's something really good, these guys call me evil, we need to talk and then 5 minutes later we're on a call and then 5 minutes later we've kind of approved a campaign because there's something cool. This is kind of how we do. And then we try to figure out how all of the legal stuff and all of that, which is usually a pain. In any company, but that's kind of the belief that we need to do great stuff. And we need to do more great stuff all the time. It's not like we should do fewer things. We should do better and more. That's really what we want to do. Yeah, I think that something that you will sell and I think that you want to build a really good at that is in a trust. The trust in your team in the idea and to talking about another example that I think is a great example of this thing. We did a printed algorithm campaign that is called meat for bloodless product as well and playing around the confusion as well. Actually, the idea that we had was I think that maybe there is a way to take pictures of the vegetables. In a really close way, it will cut look like meat. And the headline was like sorry for the confusion, meat lovers, right? But I was not sure if that's possible. The team shared with me this idea, but I was not sure, so I truly, I hope this idea that they love it and we actually were having because it's doing really well in this week. But the only way to know if it's going to work is to go and produce it. I don't know if it's going to work. I felt that it's going to work. I saw some first model. I think you told me it's going to work. But this is better. We need some little dollars. I think it's going to work, but let's give it a try. And it will be okay, let's go. Let's really use it. Let's make it happen. And once we went into production, it was like, you know, and that's a great ending, but the orders possible alternative to any was like, sorry. It didn't work. You will think that it's a vegetable. So that believe in that trust in the team and in the idea of saying, okay, let's do it. I trust you, let's go for it and if it works, we are on the same boat and if it doesn't work, we are still in the same boat. No, you know, not having fear of screwing up from time to time, right? Because I think very can also, people already see what we do and what goes out and what stays in the drawer and even some failures. Are there, but we try and try and try, we're talking yesterday about that. How this trust this intimacy, this relationship for years and years. It's really about us because we just met three years ago, but the home company is in a way the guys who were before us, the guys who would be after us, they have been raised in this trust relationship where it's okay to fail. And if you fail, just go faster for the next one and I think that in that sense is where it comes, it turns into a machine of putting great work out because also and that's something we shared. We always still to the teams and we tell the talent. One of the things we can promise you is that at David, we give our lives to make shit happen because the difference between I think good agency and a not so good agency is not the ideas everyone have ideas. It's just that we try to make them happen, right? We don't give up. So also a big shout out to people's lawyers because they approve a stimulate would have died and I think 99% of the agencies because no one would have gone through the painful process of three months with lawyers trying to figure out how to do it without saying any name any team, any video game name or whatever and then the same only work or movie would have died in 99.9% of the agencies. Not even the client. The agency side because someone would have said it's impossible no one would do it. No one would have pushed the amount of trials we did to get the proper molded war for just to make it look beautiful. So it happens over and over again. And these guys are incredibly good at pushing us to make stuff happen. But we do it together. So we've sat in meetings together with the lawyers to ensure that we can get things through. I mean, just because also, but if we can't do that, maybe we can do that. If you can't do that, maybe you can do that. It.

"burger " Discussed on Yeah, That's Probably an Ad

"Hi there, I'm Stephen lapte, Adweek, you look you know chief and for the special episode of the year that's probably an ad. I want to explore a piece of work release during the pandemic initially. I think it's going to have a lasting legacy as a piece of work from Burger King, no two pieces of work. And the confusing teams campaign which my view has offered a brilliant overview of how the world society and culture has evolved and is evolving a great speed in recent years. Leaving many of us trying to keep up and this was created for Burger King as it was trying to raise awareness of its plant based menu and how that was rolling out globally. Last year in can one four lines that go to silver and a bronze, showing that the industry has received as received very positively. But then it's also winning, again, this year can where we are currently sat wins the morning here early. So you're probably going to hear some coarse voices as we talk. But I've all introduced the gentleman behind our involved and making sure this campaign has been released and is proving a massive success. I'm joined by I'm joined by evil zakowski, head of global brand marketing at Burger King. Poncho sees global CCO and partner David and ajit to leader. Chief creative officer for David New York. So as I say to my introduction, as a campaign for the team as a camping for no, I'd love to hear, first of all, what was the brief, what was the challenge that you guys were saying? And just why this campaign come together. So I think that Burger King in general has been putting a lot of effort on plant based products. And I think we're a global leaders in the category for all the QSRs. We were the first one to launch big time. Plant based products. So things that taste like meat, but it's actually based out of plants. And the first campaign that was done around a year and a half ago was just awesome. And we kind of put a big emphasis on working on plant based products around the world and, well, these gentlemen are so proactive that they always come with absolutely amazing stuff. So we continuously work on the plant based strategy and then it is work that is just coming out of these brilliant minds. Why now has Burger King gone down the plant dish through it? Why was that something you venture just? Well, we saw a big shift in general how people are eating. I think it's a cliche to talk about big shifts in general, but this was something that we saw a few years ago. More people are moving towards the flexitarian flexitarian style of eating. And that means that we need to offer the products that people actually want. The products that they eat in their everyday life. And that the technology has changed so much. So the things that were just three, four years ago, let's say less good than they do today. And now, well, they're confusingly good. So that's really how.

James Freeman: Thank You, McDonald’s

"So James Freeman is a column It's a pretty good column He covers a multitude of different stories That's why you can never really go by the headline But the piece in The Wall Street Journal called thank you McDonald's It goes on about the burger chain and stuff But at the end he diverts a bit into this student loan topic And he covers a tweet by a guy named Adam ozimek He's of the economic innovation group and he tweeted this about this student loan scandal Quote if we're forgiving student debt because the student got a bad deal The program that they went to should be banned from student loans If the degree they got pays for itself then they don't need forgiveness And if it doesn't access to that program shouldn't be subsidized in the future Yes Yes Thank you Adam as a Mac Very well done Good job Let's go through that line by line If we're forgiving student debt because the student got a bad deal In other words some school ripped them off Okay fine people get ripped off all the time Then that institution university whatever it is scam factory should be banned from the program forever and should no longer get taxpayer funded student loans If the degree they got pays for itself then they don't need forgiveness So what's the point And if it doesn't access to that program shouldn't be subsidized in the future Brilliant

Who Is Ed Rensi, Former President and CEO of McDonald's?

"Tell us a little bit about your background Well I started I was in college at Ohio State university I was going to be a school teacher and I got a degree in business education I went to work for McDonald's because I needed a job and I was making about 85 cents an hour And I kept getting raises and working hard and I just woke up one day and I was a presidency on McDonald's to this day I'm so amazed that I was able to do that but it was a company that was led by visionaries Ray Kroc Fred Turner Jerry Newman and great people that really focused on customer service and elevating everybody I mean you know I was a burger flipper making minimum wage and all of a sudden I was successful And it's a wonderful journey and I am so proud of it I actually had lunch today or breakfast with a former employee of mine and now earns 25 McDonald's restaurants Kim just a beautiful man And you know there's so many great stories in McDonald's about entrepreneurs who became successful because it became franchisees Ricky wade over at Fort Lauderdale my goodness He's got 30 some restaurants He's an African American man customers beautiful employees I mean he's just an angel of a businessman's focused on the community Said the McDonald's story is not about the executives It's always about the franchisees and their commitment to community Boy you should still be the CEO over there From what I'm hearing Now Friends Running that company I'm old school Yeah me too

"That. I also exceeded my doughboy's meal allowance. Taking this order. So just a heads up on that. But okay, we'll talk about that off pod. We're gonna need a breakdown of what your wife and daughter ate for the meal and then we'll subtract the final chart. So and then you know, I have to guess, for someone who scarfed a cheeseburger in the car, I'm gonna guess that you probably still won over. So and then I gotta say I did order store San iron cowboy cookie. Did not come wasn't included in the order. I think it's a sonoran cowboy cookie. I think the way I said it was right. Okay. Like a Star Wars planet, sun or. So that was the order. Wow. Good order. And I messed up not getting. I did get the spread sauce, but that all came on the burger. And I guess I messed up. I didn't really think that the sauces were something that I should pay attention to. And here and you say all the sauces, I feel like I messed up. There's some quality sauces. I would say always budget for a sauce or two if you're gonna go, you're gonna hit up the montees. I will say that Monty's is expensive. I mean, it is pricey. No, for sure. I came in over the, we allowed ourselves about $50 and my total that's before tip came to 59 78. So it was fucking expensive. Because but look, it's specific. What you're getting here is, you know, you're getting vegan food. That's supposed to taste like these, like In-N-Out burger wives, like these shaken burger spots, and to the most part, I think it works. I'm interested in hearing what suss says. By the way, I got a Monte's oh yeah, Oreo style Oreo style shake. That was my, that was my shake. I was nervous about travel just because the time I had eaten them before I was I don't know what my strategy was is I scarfed a cheeseburger in the car. I don't know if I mentioned that. No, you know, we heard that. Yeah, I think you need to get into that. Yeah. And okay, to see how it would be got it, got it. Yeah. So. Your wife, Jamie, who is vegetarian. She didn't get to scar for burger. What were her? So I thought that this was gonna be a deep run. Did you scarf or burger for Jamie in the car? I'd like to do a thing where you did one for me one for her. Tell her. One for your daughter. Yeah. So, I thought this was gonna be like a home run for her because she was a vegetarian. She kind of can't get this kind of stuff. She is a fan of the Burger King impossible whopper. And so I was like, oh, this will be great. And so she took a bite of the burger. And her first reaction, which I do kind of agree with, it's a lot of sauce on that burger. And it's pretty soft. And I kind of felt too that's kind of otherwise like it really is like, wow, it tastes like a burger, but there's something probably because of the vegan thing, the sauce doesn't taste exactly like what they're going for like McDonald's like special sauce. It does taste a little different or something. Sure. It kind of stuck out in that way. Then we shared the chicken sandwich. And she took a bite of it and ran to the trash to spit it out. Wow. What about which I was shocked? And I reheated that at home too. So I thought it tasted better, but I mean, again, what's interesting, unlike weigher, she's been a vegetarian basically her whole life. So things like fried chicken, she doesn't have like, oh, I just wish I could have that. So it was even like, what even is this? This is like even the concept of a fried chicken sandwich, I think, kind of sounds a little gross to her 'cause it's like such a big thick piece of chicken and then it's fried and then in bread, she just wasn't getting what was so good about that. Yeah, I get it. Now the fries and the tots and all that stuff. We're all good. I think everyone that was my daughter was very excited about all of that kind of stuff. The burger she just was not interested in, but that kind of is normal. Like she didn't even. She was like, I'll eat this instead. Then just like took all the fries. And then the milkshake. The cookie milkshake was a home run. That was good. The cookie milkshake, it's interesting. They have pieces of cookie in the milkshake, but then I also give you some other cookie on the side. And eating the cookie on its own did not taste great. It kind of tasted like cardboard. But mixing with the shake. I think we also thought this cookie shake was really good. And it felt a little lighter because it's not dairy. That was probably our sip of the trip, as I say. Wow. And then we also had the we tried the pumpkin spice shake, which was gross. We threw that away. That sounded gross. I'm surprised you got it. It sounded gross. It just, you know, the seasonal thing. Yeah, it just seemed disgusting. Yeah. I'm interested in Mitch's thoughts on the Charlie's chicken sandwich 'cause here's the thing I will say. I ordered on the app and I picked it up and then I ate it there. So there is a recently opened I ate it there. There's a recently open minded burger in yeah in the restaurant on Sunday, 'cause what I did is I just took it into my car and scarfed a burger in the car. That's right. You scarfed a burger there, and then you took the rest home. That's not what I did. I ate my entire order there. There's a recently opened body. I've got a quick question that I can walk to. Is that like a rare thing for you to like scarf for burger in the car? Like a question. Because you keep making a point of it so I'm like, oh, is this like something that he doesn't do too often? Is he not scarfing burgers too often in this car? Anyway, what were we taking?.

Over the weekend we had funeral services for my grandfather who passed away from complications from parkinson's as my family and i said our final goodbyes. I noticed someone had put in a payday bar into his casket. I had not known. He enjoyed payday bars. But it made me smile and think of the show. I asked around. And i learned that the nurse's aid that helped him at his house would sneak him a candy bar or another sweet once a week to keep them in good spirits. Thank you for indirectly helping me smile on an otherwise tough weekend. That's wonderful that's just a wonderful email. From peden chucky california as a big san francisco giants fan. I'm not allowing you to pick leash mun. You cannot gleasman or coke wreck co cracker release. man. I don't wanna hear it. I don't wanna hear you want it somewhat. Divorce off the board then. I'm going to give you a flyer. I'm not taking control. Correct thank you. Who do you got. I think two guys from way off the pack way out of bounds Have a chance to it to make some noise. This with mackenzie hughes is a canadian. Did not handle sunday torrey pines well when he was in that big spot however he's played well since then it didn't like crashes year that he didn't succeed on sunday tori. He's a canadian. Who hits the ball really crisply and mackenzie hughes as a chance to play well. This week i also think there's a guy way off aboard from germany. The schmidt played collegiately here in the states. He wanted earlier this year on the european tour. Yeah he's way off the board like you know five thousand to one or something like that you know if you want to someone in the hundreds that kind of thing but a little higher than a hundred fisher world. Golf ranking take a look at francesco molinari. Played a little bit better. Michael knows this. He hits the ball wonderfully and you know. He was the reigning open champion when he went to the masters in twenty nineteen and rinsed his ball at twelve allowing tiger to go on to win on that sunday. And it kinda wrecked molinari. Well he's played a little bit better of late and this golf course in particular suits him very well and with italy winning the euro cup. Even though i disagree with you. Tony penalty kick suck. You cannot have a fine like that. You cannot have a big final like that decided by penalty. Kicks play it out if it ends like pat lafontaine and four. Am middle of the night and go ahead play it out. But anyway with italy winning the euro final. And i'm not a soccer guy at all. Couldn't tell you one thing about the sports italy. Italy could win another open championship. Just minority could be the darker so take those three. If you're going to be playing anybody off the board that's wonderful enjoy it from royal stanford just in just enjoyed with the bangor's mass that i'm sure they're going to serve at world stanford. Enjoy the burger as is as it'll be the first time in my it'll be the first time in my professional career calling an open championship. The first of all. I'm not doing the interviews. Which can be really weird. Because i'm not allowed to be there but calling holes and being able to say yeah. Can i get another a chicken. Sandwich from chick-fil-a please the ever did not have lousy food actually have good food and and almost normal hours calling holes open championship. It's kind of very weird. Thank you steve. "Of course it's sunday at royal saint george's nineteen eighty peter. Jacobsen's either the second or third to last group and peter's known as a funny guy and he was very player won't one a lot of terms on eight. Pga tour events was in the mix of majors Clearly who's in the mix of this one eighty five georgia's at a streaker came out and he was make completely naked and comes running around the green. And the bobby's you're trying to get them and the fans are loud. And everybody's going crazy punitive standing beside the eighteenth green and he kind of looks over his caddie who's fluff cowan cat. He's now curious for tiger tiger woods and york city. Because you know if these guys bobby's. They're running around their hats on the whole deal trying to catch of materials. Like if these guys catch take lap. I'm gonna get him and mike. Mike fluff cowan and sure enough. He absolutely gets in there like he's dick butkus morning when you remember when you used to go to the open tony that on on monday morning of the open. It's one of the great kinda airport seems and all the sports everyone is flying out of the airport. That's everyone is flying on monday morning. So literally everybody at the open players caddies officials writers. Tv people radio people everybody to the tour european tour. The everybody's in that airport. The next morning peterson the airport. You know everybody's bleary eyed blah blah blah. He's looking at the london times. And all these papers. And you're thinking. Oh sandy lyle you know a uk guy wins the open that kind of thing front page. every paper. peter's safes scrunched up against some guys than other. I literally tackle nick. Sabin would be so proud of that fact peterson of all the memorabilia in his house trophies and all kinds of pictures and all kinds of things that he's done in his wonderful career he has that one phrase up somewhere. The basement of his house made oregon. He said it's just one of his prized possessions of his face. Some day could guy with a perfect clean tackle there. That's a wonderful story that i mean. That's a wonderful story. What i remember most about sandy. Lyle by the way as he seemed to always wear brown shirts he was not a well-dressed golfer. Not by any means nice enough fella but not well dressed but what you're talking about reminds me of what happened last week in the scottish open where that guy walks up on number ten where rory is tries to take rory's driver ends up with the head cover gets another club and goes up on the tee box as if to hit the cover of the of the driver and it took more than thirty seconds for security to get there. That is steve. That's so frightening isn't it. But i i'm out in tahoe. And i see this and i getting all of these texts from imagine them. All of our friends who play and our cat is on the pga tour and poor harry diamond or harry. Diamond is rory's childhood friend who's been his caddy for a long time. A wonderful guys. Like rory could not be a nicer guy. And i think the problem that everyone golf had is hang on a second. I t scottish open one of the most famous players in the world. A how does a guy just walk out there. Not walk out there without security being around. Be no offense to harry. But i can tell you about a dozen catty see would have literally four that guy. You don't someone's clubs. Michael knows this. I don't care whether you at the the girls junior columbia last week or whether you're at the open championship this week. You do not let anyone touch your clubs and if someone touches your clubs you gotta have a stronger reaction rory inherited. He just picked right out of their practice. Wins then secured people got. They put the club back in the bag to me. That club soiled man. I'm not. I don't want an amber touching my club and i'm about to go try to win a golf tournament. That was a bizarre. It was completely bizarre. We wanted to do the story on. Pti and they wouldn't release the video. And if you don't have the video you can't do the story right The people at the scottish open our thinking was they didn't wanna do it because it was embarrassing. Completely harassing yes. It was on social media but we needed permission to use it and north yet it. We couldn't get. I would have loved to hurt wilpon and we would've gone crazy crazy earlier in the day when we hope we be able to use it and we couldn't by the way what is the percentage is. It's the british open. It's called the open. Not you know it's just the open. What is the percentage of european players. That actually win. This is at a higher percentage than i might think or a lower percentage because i would say maybe fifteen to twenty percent but maybe it's higher an englishman hasn't won in england since faldo. I believe i believe those ninety. Three maybe ninety two and ninety three and I think tony jacklin. No he's last englishman dewitt. I think he wanted a mere ninety two and that was in scotland. I don't think an englishman's wanted in england since tony jacklin sixty nine. I mean well your opinion. Rory's wanted recently He wanted in two thousand fourteen but francesco molinari's from italy. He wanted a few years ago when he held. Clark darren far these irish yup. Last time it was here at royal. St george's That was in two thousand eleven. So yeah i mean. Europeans have wondered but for the most part. You know like everything else In the sport it's kind of you know it's it's it's a worldwide thing. Norman wanted twice He's you know. Obviously he's australian the bunch of americans of water but if an englishman would win in england. Remember how rory tight. Roy was a couple of years ago at in northern ireland. When he didn't make didn't make the shots i he shot out of bounds was a mess the whole time. It's hard to win in your own country there. It's different than an american trying to win in the us. I don't know why that is but in england to win it englishman to win it in england. Tommy fleetwood this week up. The place would go absolutely bananas. What kind of course is it in terms of favouring certain type of player. You know a lot of people now. This week's different because the weather leading up to the week is going to be very good for the week In twenty eleven it was really bad. One day with darren clarke but for the most part it was dry and it was firm and fast two thousand and three when benn chris wanted. It was really from this week is a little softer..

Nothing would make me happier than to hear them on the podcast rejoin one day. Should you like the. Thanks for everything that you do in. The gang have given so much to so many people over the years without even realizing it. Brian gregory in san francisco will play two songs by him today. This again is this. Life is but a dream. And he plays in richard justice. Who and i would imagine. Richie that even though you are not day-today covering baseball and doing cage time and getting in the locker room i would imagine like a dog at the firehouse like me. You find you find the all star break and the home run. Derby and the game irresistible. Right i mean you drop everything to watch it right hundred percent irresistible and and not only that. This is inside politics. Like i'm thinking okay. It's it's lunchtime on tuesday. Is that rob manfred them. Tony clark in a room to ourselves and we're at this we're asking that the futures game yeah and i thought it was. It's what it is is. What baseball has done is turned it into a three day. Showcase for the sport beginning with the futures game on sunday and i thought they did a fabulous job. You know to have forty two first-time all-stars you say. Well this guy. This guy skip fourteen players. I think skip. But i think the country ought to know who fans who boba shedding glad junior union. Timmy tim anderson are and then the tribute to hank aaron and the nine other hall of famers who died since last year when i saw billy aaron law out there widow with with freddie freeman and aaron judge ovalles. Oh my god because he you know. Thanks very player. But hank was looked at. Hank was one of those guys that even room hall of famers. When hank in the room there was silence in the room. That's what that's how hank. Aaron we're seeing so i thought they did a great job and you know and one of the things. The last two days became was a showcase for shohei otani and people have to stop saying you know i since babe ruth this that you know. We've never seen a guy like this. We've never seen a guy that can throw a ball a hundred miles an hour. Get miles an hour where you I not completely up to speed on this. I just sorta red headline that manfred said that seven inning doubleheaders and that the start in the tenth on not long for for baseball. I was surprised by that. Because i think they're very fan. Friendly things. yeah. I think he just feels like let's go back to the way it was. It was good enough the way the way way. It was before. And i don't know that having a runner on second base to start with anthony. I don't know that shortstop game any because they score us you you score we score down the line that the more interesting thing that he said was i think we're we're gonna ban the ships now all of this has to be done in the context of labor agreement. But i think they're going. They're going to reach a point and the analytics people. The guys who came up with the ships will say you gotta be careful the unintended consequences. But i think next year we're going to see a third baseman short. Stop on the left side of the infield and second baseman and first baseman on the right side and feel and just try it and see if it works because the game. You know i who was it was a bill. Simmons said baseball's like the hollywood starlet the aging hollywood starlet. That's trying hard but you can't just sit back on your hands and say Let's don't do anything you know. You saw those uniforms those all starting you know how. Well how did those come to be. You know 'cause. I wanna see my player in our uniform. This is the first time since nineteen thirty three but that's herself a baseball. Signed a billion dollar deal with nike and said. Can you help us struck younger fans and for whatever you are. I are any of the players. Think of those all star jerseys They're sold out. And so you know you and and what it was was baseball. Said okay nike. that's what you wanna do. We try did do you. When you say the shift law the shift will there be feet in the dirt by the infielders or will you be allowed at second base to say play short right field. What do you think yeah. I think they're going to ask people to stay i. I don't know that you have to be on the dirt. But i think he's going close close to that and you know again it. All has to be done in the context of a of labor negotiation. Because i think baseball would like universal d. h. would like expanded playoffs. They've got a lot of work to do because the larger. Oh the over all story. Is that the economics of the game are not in a good place right now. That players are younger. Players are playing more and more but they're not getting paid when you get thirty that previously was when you got your money. You're going to get your money now except in rare situations because you're production starts to decline at twenty seven twenty. Yeah i understand that that. That's that's the sticking point between the players and the owners and i hope that money money. Yeah yeah. I wanted to ask about the home run derby which i love which will then of course doesn't put do so when we were sitting around watching. Pete alonso with sort of dobie dance that he does but boy it seemed like he hit about twelve in a row out..

"Players to sixty four players but when you get to sixty four players then it's the ncaa basketball tournament then. It doesn't matter what your total number is. that doesn't matter at all. You have to win more holes than the other person. You're playing that chain. You explain this. Michael that changes the level of competition. The you have to be four different kind of best play doesn't give you four full-quarter's to try and get back. So there's there's no real way to get back and what's interesting for her. She's probably only played this coursing info times. Obviously at the two the two rounds through the strokeplay. But now you're trying to figure out okay. Where am i going to try and be a little bit more aggressive. A little bit more sort of particularly if i'm coming in as the one of the higher seed. Yeah because we have. I i would say hard. It's an it's an unassuming hard opening stretch. And then you can sort of ride that if you get out to that early lead and some of the holes you might not get to some of those score. Bill would say round changing holes. That are so important for say the two of us. If we're playing a club match with jimmy crowley sixteen seventeen eighteen. You might not get those you always. Can we get to the other side of the tracks and if you can get out to that it'll lead. You could close it out before so it's just a different deal. If she plays a girl who you know in the first five holes throws in three bombs. You don't know what that psychologically does too hard. It's it changes. everything might be. You know you might be standing on the eighteenth t. One yeah. I mean it's just it's just a weird thing it's not every stroke doesn't count you can pick up. I mean you can. You can just pick off some point. And it's it's really a different way of playing michael which is harder you've played both which is harder i in terms of match players strokeplay. Yeah i think if for many of these players in this tournament stroke plays what they do every single week. They're playing those competitions. They know exactly how to control their game. And so it's it's for some of them out of their out of their thinking to be more aggressive and more assertive if they're trying to get into a match minds mindset. I always enjoyed naturally because it gave you gave you a little bit of that bumper. If you had that whole the ad to move on from and you can try and shrink around into say a mini three hole round can i. Can i pick one hole up here before we get to the turn but it comes down to mindset. Can describe how you played yesterday. Because i thought you played very well. Sure michael played very well. We started. I am not going to go into specific details inside. Shot by shot but we started on the back. Nine and michael was three under at the end of the back. Nine and then had a hiccup or to the hiccups on rents who throws the ball year. Instable on came back with a birdie after that right deal you had five birdies and around very good a great way to celebrate my dad's birthday the day before i started to. I started to try out. The ron darling play. I'm not sure if you notice. I did not off with a few arms if you aren't so that right so that we could be in approximately the same place. If i hit the drive well which i did once or twice now. The the highlight was. I think it was on our ninth. Which was the eighteenth. And alan goes into great deal great detail describing a recent match. He had with gary as his partner. Gary opponents tried to coach up the old ball coach. Gary wasn't listening to most of it. He was yeah. The gary answer was wonderful. All right we will take a break when we come back later in the show. We'll do steve sands with golf. When we come back for justice we'll talk about all things baseball and let me tell you again if you're in the area and you want to go. Columbia is at the corner of east west highway and connecticut avenue. Don't i mean don't take private jet in don't although you could because there's like four days of it right yeah. There's wednesday thursday. Friday saturday of of match play it. It's of course his lovely. Although i will concede it's about three thousand degrees outside. It's not an akbar eight. Yeah it's not as hot as scottsdale but that of course is a dry eat. We'll take a break. Richard justice when we return. I'm tony kornheiser vis is the tony kornheiser show. It was making a a version of cheeseburger that was just raw onions. And kind of sweet pretty spicy mustard so raw onions almost like yellow mustard but spicier than that and pickles and cheese. That was pretty good. That sounds good. I do like a burger with blue cheese. That is good to with either like just blue cheese or a big piece of raw on in like a double later. Burger with bacon. "Great today I'm Bradley and this is your inspiration to start your week. Okay I. Don't think this story will sound weird and it will in cows this even inspirational. I've got a point to this. Back, until nineteen, I was going to Burger King because they have these delicious impossible offers I place my order we're going to the drive thru and all of a sudden the person had a me just drives off. I PULL UP I. Is this your food like. On. This person just up PICK HIM TO DEBATE FOR IT and. The. Employees had said that this has happened at this restaurant this driver pay for the food it destroyed off how often do we pay for something with time money and energy industry off without reaping the rewards? Right now working on building up the frazzle Youtube, the frazzled podcasts and the frazzle twitch channel Egg would be so easy for me right now just to walk away all that time money energy put into it and then I'm done. But like that person who drove off with paying without getting their food. Now there are sometimes you have to make decisions in your life. You have to look at your priorities and kind of say, goodbye some. I made the difficult decision this year to resign for ballroom dancing. I have been doing this for ten plus years and really enjoyed it. It wasn't an easy decision but I know in this instance, I did not drive off without getting my Burger I met so many amazing people I did so many amazing dances have so many memories there that really it's like I have a lifetime worth of Burger King impossible operas for me to enjoy what I've learned from instructors at my desk partners will go with me for the rest of my life. I've got confidence I get the address I've learned to be me. So this week, evaluate what you're working on. Ask yourself have I got the my bur yet or I still waiting on it maybe just maybe that delicious Burger King possible offers waiting for you and I asked You Burger King and impossible are not sponsors I just really love their burgers I'm working tobacco. And then at one point the guy like they ask you a question out of them from like, you know, the press pool wherever it's like what what do you prefer do you like McDonald's or Wendy's more? And he goes they're both. I was I was Seymour Hersh. He's not a new he's on it gets hot new scoop, Donald Donald Trump. You know, he'll tell you that he likes all of it because he has through. Now, you know, the generals of told him. Support all of them. But what would he won't tell what they've tried to scrub? And I actually got a lot of threatening calls about was he's he's been very anti Wendy's in the past. He's. The square burger. He finds kind of threatening the he doesn't like you worry. He's going to hurt himself. But James Mattis, James Madison is way out. He will you remember James Madison actually had a lot of projects in South America with day Thomas. He told Trump that even out of the White House. He wouldn't protect them from the other generals him out against Wendy's. Dave Thomas's legacy. So he wouldn't he wouldn't commit to McDonald's or Wendy's. And he just kept saying they're both American Eric Eric stuff. We love Burger King. Great bird, the Burger King. He say earlier. He said earlier before they did it. He said we're gonna have McDonald's Wendy's Burger King's Jessica stick in my head because I think he thinks that is those are guys there are multiple burger kings their their their their monarchs in small principalities in Europe. And I can't wait to have them. All come to the White House Booker amazing leaders the burger kings. I think are just all wonderful wonderful fellows, and you would hope you would hope that there could be one king. He thinks that they could figure something out. He thinks Peter King is like the son of the Burger King. So it's really nice. The burger teams are Harare.
