"The KCB as sports line, and he has the answer as to why Kyle Shanahan feels like he's watching another team run his offense this week. Yeah, the forty-niners getting ready to take on the dolphins this week and offensively the dolphins are a team that likes to do a lot of the same things at the forty-niners like to do and that's not surprising given that the dolphins head coach Mike mcdaniel was the forty-niners offensive coordinator and it's been over a decade working with forty-niners head coach Kyle Shanahan in different roles and as Kyle Shanahan has been watching film to get ready for this weekend's game. He was asked if he feels that he's watching his own offense just with some different kind of players like Miami star speedy wide receiver tyreek hill. Oh, it's cool to watch. I mean, right when he got tyreek, you knew how much that was gonna help. Tyreke said, there's a number of fast people in this league and to me he's different than everyone else, probably ever. Just the physicality and speedy runs with. So just some of the things that they could do with him is cool to watch. Now, Shannon says he's been enjoying it, but one of the things that's really jumped out has been the play of dolphins quarterback to attack of aloha and all the things that he's been able to do. Shannon says he's noticed a big difference in two of the season. You know, the question was watching two and offense. And while it wasn't totally sure of that and I remember turning it on the preseason and watching his first game and I was like, wow, this guy looks totally different and looks very comfortable and then turned it on week one and I thought he was playing a week one as good as anyone in this league and I don't think he's had a game not like that. Now the forty-niners back on the practice healed they aren't dealing with some significant injury questions for this week's game start running back Christian McCaffrey not practicing today with a knee issue wide receiver deebo Samuel limited with a quad injury and starting offensive guard Spencer burford he is also out today dealing with an ankle sprain. I'm really grateful now. I introduced you as a photographer and writer d. You now think that that's switched. Are you a writer. Perhaps with the bisa photography feel like. I've always been a writer. I and i think photography is has been another medium in which i can communicate and express like i've been writing since i can remember likelihood you're like four or five years old scribbler. Like really terrible. Shoot stories have l-. I think the the medium of photography really allows a visual element to come into my work and very much comes through in this book open water. There's a lot about you feel the sort of the poetry the visual the creativity. I mean those are major themes aren't they about about creativity. I think the the the starting point or for any saw them. Artistic expression is feeling and emotion. And then it's working is working from that once have the feeding emotion. I'm trying to express define the best medium for in this case. It was writing but the but the writing contained these elements. Are these references to music can to to visual artists than film which took the narrative elsewhere afforded a different dimension. I i. I would have been possible if i just like kind of ryan straight pros and of course if the two characters one is a dancer. One is a photographer like you. That will so you to kind of explore all of those teams much more than living it. Yeah there's i guess there's a I guess everyone has their that. Point is expression even if is like a professional level epic. Everyone is has something that they do to express themselves in. Just have this freedom by. I wanted to comment on what happens when you find that. Freedom interrupted without giving any of the plus away at this point. Yeah a lot of this is told through dialogue. Which i know is fiendishly difficult to achieve and then at one point you sort of depart from the traditional writing style the whole kind of you say she says tell me about that. Change of structure the About giving too much away the bat point in the story. The narrative has been a bill and bill bill and then reached this kind of the apex this peak in which the image i had to switch the structure slightly so that it was hughley the protagonist kind of like spilling in a way like it was. It's like feeling a competent. And the woods at that point had just spilled over and that's what began to emerge and not not lots of the narrative using the this second person who almost away fruit was really important for me to create this kind of very intimate as very intimate narrative in which the reader can beat by the burford. An audience member nossa the protagonists themselves at an. Did you write it like that from the start or were you fiddling about with with that structure. That was really attention from the beginning. I think i'm always wondering a novel could be like. I'm always astounded by different nobles. Come across the us. They're going to hold an event. They're going to bring people together and discuss ways to develop a plan to do that you're about to hear from Sacramento County Supervisor Sue Frost, talking about some of the topics that will be discussed. We're bringing experts in the fields of epidemiology, medicine, psychology, economics and constitutional law, and our mission is to provide the full science is coded and Look at the lockdowns and to understand the impact the lockdowns they're having on our communities, and we're also going to talk about strategies to reduce hospital demand and safely reopen schools and businesses and Protect our constitutional rights and get people back to their jobs in their lives. Okay, So the plan is to hold us over the weekend outside by the way in person, So they're going to try to follow covert guidelines and figure out how they can get businesses back up and running. Assume as possible. Just amazing. All right. We've been talking about the 24th amendment and their 25th. I'm sorry. Thank you. 25th amendment all over the country calls to invoke that to remove President Trump. After the fall out from what happened at the capital on Wednesday. So we checked in with constitutional law Professor Sacramento's most George School of law, Leslie Gilo, Jacobs. And she explains how invoking the 25th amendment even works. The vice president and eight members of the Cabinet must agree that the president is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. They sent a letter to Congress. And they say that immediately upon sending that letter to Congress, the vice president assumes the president's powers. This doesn't remove the president from office. But it places the president's powers ends the vice president and then the president would have four days to object. And if he did, then Congress would get to decide how must Vote by two thirds to keep the powers with the vice president. Otherwise, the president gets them back. But I should note Congress has 21 days to do that. All right. This all came into place in the 19 sixties, when they were disgusting. You know what happens with the different succession possibilities? Should something happen to press the headline today is Mike Pence. Vice President Mike Pence has come out to reports say he will not involve the 25th amendment, so that appears to be off the table. S O. Does business travel return? And how? What does that look like in wind? And now everyone's doing virtual and zoom. And will you get back on a plane for business to fly cross country, right. "She's the marketing manager for the downtown Sacramento partnership. You can hear more tomorrow at 5 23 here, OK PK or head over now to kpk dot com. The afternoon news with Kitty O'Neil For many, it seems like the country is falling apart at the seams, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the stock market. Despite all the trouble that's going on the market seems to keep rolling on. Let's talk with Kelly Brothers from Genevieve's Burford and brothers. I got it. I don't. I mean, I kind of understand a portion of the reason Kitty, but it's It's very perplexing. I mean, when you saw you know protesters rolling into the capital, you know police with guns drawn in the chambers of the House and the Senate and You saw that and not to mention the fact Georgia had gone Democratic as well. And these were things that were thought to somehow be a threat to the market and the marketed a new high yesterday. Not only that gold was down. I mean, usually when you have that sort of tumult. Gold goes up. It's kind of seen as a safe haven. So the old rules are not applying in this market with a whole new breed of investor and a lot of investors saying, Listen, this is ugly, but it's going to be over by the 20th of January 1 way or another. On then they're seeing they're placing bets, basically on stimulus that a democratically controlled government will push more money into stimulus. Maybe another trillion dollars into infrastructure as well. So all of that Leads to continued ascension for the market to levels, many might think to be slightly elevated. Wow. Well, let's look at another positive note here locally. I saw plans in the rail yard for a 5000 seat venue. Tell us about that. Well, yeah, it is. Sacked Business Journal reported this yesterday that the permitting is underway now for this at And it may be there, you know, for a while there they were holding some events in what's called the Paint shop. It's one of those beautiful old buildings on the site of what used to be kind of the rail yard where they used to paint. Trains on do they held some really nice events in there. It's very rustic, great atmosphere, but they're gonna build a little venue there for musical acts I assume for theater or for shows, but Saying 3,505,000 people be the capacity, which would which will be fantastic to hear that sort of music coming out of that part of downtown. So even though many of us haven't been downtown a whole lot these days because you're not going down for games And you're not going down for restaurants there stuff still going on. There's construction underway and the rail yards remain One of the great hopes for kind of a revitalization of downtown. Once we can all go and see it again. Hopefully soon. Yeah. Something to look forward to. All right, Kelly brothers. They're from Genevieve's Burford and brothers. Thank you. Thank you. Okay. And still to come. "The KPK afternoon new page right now for more information. For many, it seems like the country is falling apart at the seams, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the stock market. Despite all the trouble that's going on the market seems to keep rolling on. Let's talk with Kelly Brothers from Genevieve's, Burford and brothers. I got it. I don't I mean, I kind of understand a portion of the reason Kitty, but it's It's very perplexing. I mean, when you saw you know protesters rolling into the capital, you know, police with guns drawn in the chambers of the House and the Senate and You saw that and not to mention the fact Georgia had gone Democratic as well. And these were things that were thought to somehow be a threat to the market and the market in a new high yesterday, Not only that gold was down. Sacked Business Journal reported this yesterday that the permitting is underway now for this at And it may be there for a while there they were holding some events in what's called the Paint shop. Thank you. Thank you, Kitty. Right for 26. ‘Deaf U’ shows the realities of Washington, DC college students who are hard of hearing
"Students as they deal with dating friendship and finding their way in the world. And what sets this show apart from the usual hookup show on college campuses is that it takes place at Gallaudet University in Washington, D. C. That's a private college for the deaf and hard of hearing. The characters are all deaf or hard of hearing, and they mainly speak in American sign language. One notable exception is Rodney Burford, who has a cochlear implant and acts as a sort of interpreter for the hearing audience. People is difficult. It'll behalf people where they could talk. You have that people who used to talk about a deal talking and then you have people who know they can't so they just cleaned Rodney plays football for Gallaudet and describes himself as the bad boy of the cast. And he joins us Now. Hi. Hey, how you doing? I'm doing Well, thank you. Also Joining us is the executive producer of deaf You Nyle DiMarco, who, by the way 1 2015 Season of America's next top novel and the 2016 season of dancing with the Stars and Nile is joining us via his interpreter, Grace and Van Pelt. So the voice you hear will be Graysons. Welcome to the show Nile. Hi. It's a pleasure to be here. Thanks so much for having us today. It's great to have all of you know, Let's let's begin with you. You are an alum of Gallaudet. Why did you want to do or produce A TV show about your university. I think it really goes all the way back to the beginning, Which was my time on America's next top model and insolent stars so often being the only deaf person on a reality TV show left me with Ah, very sort of simplistic label. I was very one dimensional or cast that we have in spring. I was never really ask questions specific to maybe what I like. But I didn't like, or any sort of story that I brought to the table is a person. Andi thought there was a big flaw within the reality TV world s O. I came with the idea that I wanted to really spotlight students a deaf you Who are almost all completely deaf in college, but are experiencing the same things that every other college student would there facing decisions that every college student has to you. They're making the mistakes that are fairly typical and amazing. Things happened on that campus. I thought it was a wonderful entry point for getting people at home is an audience to see that People are just like everybody else. So it's a part of it is educating the broader public on what it's like to be deaf, right? And making that obviously a big part of the show. Not just saying, Oh, by the way, I'm deaf, but deaf. Being deaf is the central element. In life at Gallaudet and on the show. Absolutely Rodney, You are one of the stars of the show. And you are in various different love triangles are larger than triangles, squares. Rectangles pentagrams? I don't know. But you seem to have a very active love life. What is it like for you to be part of the show while going to school like l a debt? To be honest, it was just the same for me. Just accept the cameras for only me and change myself. I would live just living my life. But every part of my life was just being documented. Yeah, so, but it must be kind of weird to be Tohave every aspect of your life documented. Yeah, you could say that, Especially the more intimate moments. Right? Niles? Tell me why you want to focus so much on the romance. I mean, obviously, it's exciting and fun to watch. But why? Why is that a central part of the show? I think romance is such a universal feeling. You know, we really crave the feeling of being in love and You know, I think that's something that is so typical of the college experience, and we really truly felt that that was the perfect entry point for the hearing audience at home. To really make a connection to these cast members is deaf people right, but also is just equal members of society. And that was really our strategy. There is Rodney a lot of
