The game in hand is no longer city away still looms 26 of April, but the ineffable title glory is starting to feel oh so very real. So your big tactical questions, they are essentially down to rob holdings hair. One of the greatest and most heroic recoveries in world football, rob holding ball day F for years, and now I bet even Jack Grealish would look at holding with hair envy. So what should he march out to maybe sexy boy? Shawn Michaels, WWF walkout song, honestly. The reality is also don't need walkout songs this year. They are top, but the fan song table, the sack of song and it along with the meal Smith wrote, you got the saliva chant and that new sack of one set to Bowie is an absolute banger. There's a star boy running down the right. His name's bukayo saka and he's effing dynamite, but if we really need one, if we're really doing rob holding, walk out music. I probably go devil's haircut by Beck. In my mind. You might hear the pebbles there must be the devil's head 'cause in my mind. Next question.

"Every day. I get it. But he knows your race as well. He knows what yours is. He knows yours. And the other thing is, you know, we're going to lift the lid on a secret here. It's not like professional footballers spend their time taking penalties against each other. So to me, it is kind of in fact more likely I would assume that came at club level would probably take penalties against the backup goalkeeper. A goalkeeping coach taking penalties against them, right? It's kind of the way, it's kind of the way professional football works. Substitutions, bukayo saka, I thought was maybe Lynn's best player. It was right up there. I agree. Were you surprised that he was the guy to come off? Completely. I mean, they were talking. They talked after that. Maybe it was injured. They picked up an injury. I didn't see it on the pitch. And that substitution from saka both me massively. But what bothered me the most Gabby is that Raheem Sterling replace him. Now I've got nothing against where I'm standing, I think he's an amazing player, but what on earth would you bring on someone in a game like this when you've just considered the second goal? So you two went down. Someone who spent 5 days in London who just flown over there from Doha to London 7 hours, three hours difference in the time difference. Dealt with something that was quite dramatic to his family clearly because he felt the need to go back to London. I was just come back back from London to the 7 hour flight, the more the other three hours back into the other way. Had no train or a little bit the day before the game. And you think it's a good idea with all the plays that you've got on your bench to bring on rhymes turning for the last 20 minutes, ten minutes of normal time and ten minutes of at the time. Really? And I would have thought at that stage. The obvious guy to bring on and we saw him, I think he came on an injury time was Jack Grealish. Exactly. For the simple idea, look, I'm not having a go at Jack religious as part of the game. The logical Jack village gets the ball. What does he do? He goes, he puts his head down and he starts dribbling. He gets, he falls over, he gets filed. And then you have a set piece, right? And then you've got people who can deliver the set fees. Well, you can bring up Maguire and his large head. You've got Harry Kane in there. You've got his threat in an area where France had, I don't know if he said he was injured after the game, but he certainly he battled all the way through. But France, defensively, set pieces, it's basically the center backs, ravioli and Giroux, right? Yeah, that's what England many more weapons. They're a good set piece team. Created chances with them with a stack with their movement. This really surprised me. It made no sense from saga. And I don't want to pick on him because England played really well. And we're not here to criticize that. However, however, I just don't, at that level, every detailed account, as we've been saying before in a preview and the game was too tight. For not to make a nerdier substitution before the 79th minute when he was two one down, was a mistake. To take off saka was a mistake to bring on Sterling was a mistake as well. And in the end, that might not have cost even the game, I don't know, we would never know. But those three moments there, I thought I felt when mistakes from Southgate and showed once more, it's not the first time was more how much is in game management is not good enough for that kind of level. It's as simple as that. Now there's an interesting twist going on here, right? We live in England. We both live there for a long, long time. And if you haven't lived there, you've heard about the tabloid press and how aggressive they can be and how they go when they destroy England. After every tournament, unless England win the tournament, which hasn't happened in my lifetime, so most people's lifetime. This time around, the reaction is actually very positive about Southgate. Now, I think on the one hand, that shows a ton of maturity because they look at this and say, okay, England scored 6 against Iran, then a bit of a stinker against the United States, but still they didn't lose. Okay, whales, you can only beat what's in front of you, right? They beat Senegal, which I don't think is a game to be taken for granted at all. And then they get this far and they outplay the world champions. Who are arguably a more talented side. Yeah. So that's all positive. I still think the English media pre Southgate. If they come back after a run like that, they still get hammered, they still get killed. This time around, there's so much positivity. Is it the English media that have grown up? Or is it the fact that Southgate is legitimately a nice guy, a classic guy? He says the right things. Yeah, and I think he's pacified. He has passive, he made peace really between the tabloids, especially and the England camp, the England players. They are, I think, happy to talk to the media, for example, which before I think was a chore really, let's be honest, they do stuff like they go and play dance together in England camp, a journalistic and a player, all that kind of advantage if you want, which I think is I think is helping. Let's just now go over the board with all the niceness and all the positivity as well. You think you're still criticism of Southgate and the way another choice is in this game. Yeah. I would tend to agree. I mean, I think there's progress because we saw I thought 2020 England were just exceptionally negative throughout the tournament. And yeah, they got to the final and just stupid thing where they said, oh, that's all friends want a World Cup. Let's play the same way. I told you, this stuff does not work. You can get lucky, but it doesn't work. That's true. I thought they played to their strengths a lot more. I think south gates on a path. And if I were in England fan, I would definitely want Garrett Southgate to stay. Yeah, I can understand that. You can see the progression. There's no doubt. So yeah, there was just beaten by a team that, if you don't kill that team off, like England had the chance and didn't do it, then they would come back and kill you off. And I think that's exactly what the French show. And I think that ruthlessness is what is missing a little bit now for England. I think there is such a nice bunch. And you say Sally Yates is such a nice guy, which is true. I think to go and win something big now, they need to be tougher. They have to be mean. They have to make that to have that kind of killer instinct that they clearly don't have. Otherwise, we would have seen it last night. And I think the French, on the other hand, went far from perfect. Let's not forget there's no content, no Benzema, no Pogba. But how good are we to go into the last four in the semifinal? When we have half of the country missing, come on. Yeah, God Dave Benzema and bogged by. I think two of those three guys have played what? Like three games. There's a lot here. Yeah, why don't you go further? There's no use fontan. There's no Raymond copper. There were not available. They were busy upon this. Even the length of the assessment, I am probably no, I am not a brain surgeon. I am not a neurologist. But from what I read from what the advice is, it takes a good 15 minutes to go and properly assess somebody. And you're not going to do that during a game. Hence why people talked about temporary substitutions and whatnot. If you leave it up to the teams, you leave it up to the teams. You're putting it on a Doctor Who is employed by a federation who is. Put a natural conflict of interest. But then who you want to leave it to. Okay. Do you want to ask, do you want FIFA to appoint doctor dolittle to go and look at somebody and take upon himself the position? Well, you may be fine, but there's lots of plates safe because, you know, let's take a look. Maybe infantino can say today, I feel like a doctor and do it himself. Yeah. I feel concussed. Yeah, I don't know that I don't know that there is a good way to do it, even the temporary substitution aspect, especially when it concerns a goalkeeper. There is a lot of misinformation and lack of knowledge when it comes to concussion protocols. And you can't just, you know, shake it off. There's multiple multiple concussion symptoms that happen during a course, whether it takes 15 minutes or less is another thing. The point being is like, I think, at this point, and it's not just the World Cup. I mean, I had an issue watching Aston Villa against Newcastle and emiliano Martinez should have come off. He didn't. You know what I mean? There's a lot of misinformation and lack of knowledge on what a concussion symptom is. Just one, just one should take you away because it's saying you may have a concussion. And that's not happening right now. It's completely being belittled, I think. But then do you want a club Doctor Who is paid for by the club to go and make that decision? But yes, we remember. Because I'm old, I forget if it was 2014 or 2018, but Uruguay, I think it was Pereira or on about Oreos. The guy was out. "Is a this is a nonsense debate. I really don't see it, you could go to 5th. It could take you first measure, and then you still go to 5th and then I just don't think it's too simplistic to say, oh, you're based on good faith. We've seen bed going first and second. And let him not winning it, instead of going to 5th and they could have been do you see what I mean? I think it's too. A predictable penalty shootout. Exactly. Then just saying, oh yeah, money was 5th, and he wanted for his country, so simplistic, Stevie? Yeah, absolutely. You know, the reason you generally have you take care of your best player ever as fast is because you're trying to look ahead. You try to figure out you're going to get that far. And so it becomes the most pressurised penalty cake. So you actually want your best guy on it. But when you see that maybe it will not go to a 5th, surely you switch it up. You make the change. Again, it's too simplistic. So I guess all the geniuses are saying, well, he should have gone forth. Well, if he goes fourth and scores, the guy still messes it 5th, then you're going to have everybody else saying, well, why did he, why did he go forth? Because if the guy at school, then he would be taking the most important one. So there's not an answer to this at all. The only answer is everybody's a genius after the event. Right. The reason you have your best guy at first is because that's considered the most pressurized parent kick. And that's why he's just the risk and reward, not pay out. What was the point in having your best man going 5th if he's never going to take it? Because it's the most pressurized. You're assuming that you're not going to take it. Dan, when penalty kicks have been taken, you're assuming everybody's going to score. That's what you're doing. You're assuming everybody's going to score. And so you want your best guy on the real pressure one that you think will come at number 5. And as I said, it's too easy to know to go, well, you should went forth. Well, the game actually is it fair. Then you've taken your best penalty guy and the most pressurized situation offer that spot and put it onto a guy who's not as good. That doesn't make any sense, either, does it? Ali, what do you think? I'm going to throw a name to the name that may be close to your heart from this summer. Bukayo saka. Right. The criticism was, why was I taking the deciding penalty for England? So you can't have it both ways. You can criticize Mohamed Salah being the 5th, and then criticize a guy like Osaka being the decider penalty for England. And he can go wrong both ways. See, here's the thing. In the end, in order for the 5th penalty taker, to not be able to participate in the penalty kick should have somebody had a shocker most of the time. Somebody must have had a shocker. And guess what? Egypt had a shocker. You missed two out of four penalties. That is decidedly a shocker. And so therefore, he doesn't get a chance. But it's not because, well, we just left our best player and he doesn't get to participate. He doesn't get to participate because the other two guys just miss penalties. And so while we can sort of digest it and process it in different ways, we can now turn around and criticize the decision of leaving Muhammad's our number 5th, but also being criticized that inexperienced guy like saka, it's taken the big pressure penalty. It can go both ways. Chaka, I totally agree. And to Jewish point, it's way too simplistic to level that criticism, but I'll go for it and say, let's make it even more simplistic. Let's just allow the culture manager whoever it is to make that decision at the time. He knew as he plays, he knows he kinds of games if they've been having. He knows their personalities. What guys salt gate does in the summer is not necessarily what he said does does for Senegal in the final. To that point, if we are talking about formulas that I still wear everybody goes, what do you do if your number one penalty take a misses a penalty during the 19 minutes? Do you leave him for 5th? Or do you put them early on? And again, all you see is he made that call on the day and it worked. Did it not? We would probably be loving some criticism at him as well as to why he left money for 5th and he would be so nervous and everything else. Just let manage just make those decisions. What worked for one doesn't necessarily work for the other. You know, there's one thing that's always I've never been able to figure out why is it, right? We sit here and we talk about court cheese, the influence they have on the team. But when it comes to apparently shootout, the court has to sit O and isn't allowed to be involved. Why is that? It's not allowed to be involved anyway. It's not allowed to be under 20 minutes. You've got we're talking about, well, you can change it up. How are you supposed to be changing or not? Have you certain 40 yards over there? Why is it cool? It's not allowed to be out there. Yeah. Because guess what? He's called the coach for a reason. Because of course he's the team. Right. He makes a decision. 2000? Probably picking the 5 that he initially thought. But if he's set in 50 yards, 40 other way, who's going to change? Yeah, you'd have him sent a circle with him. Absolutely. Yeah. He's a gorge. Yeah. Do these job. Anyway. But he's not allowed to do his job apparently. Well, Shaq had said, of course, money after missing the penalty in.

If you can do it subtly and sort of indicate to that sub segment that we know what you want without making everyone else feel like they need to have a shower to voting for you. That's the line you wanna walk. And a lot of them are not working that long at the moment it seems like a massive miscalculation on the part of potala johnson. When the beginning of the tournament they refused to condemn fans booed taking the knee by getting the final. The england team of sort of made fools of critics and nothing succeeds like success. Do you think that that was that. They expected to different outcome. You know they. They think themselves. Forward to the idea of england in the final and how it would appear that stage to take that position on taking any. I think it's habit. It is that this song can spot danger.
