"I think it's time to start talking about what the government's going to give you. Let's stop having that conversation. And let's move it to how can we get off of the government system and become self reliant, but as soon as you bring that up, you're called a racist. You say you don't care about anybody, but it's funny. I have a few really close black friends. I talk to them all the time, and they always make the same joke. My father's name is not government. Right. Well, the problem with the exactly. That's a huge problem within the black community. I think that's turning, though. I got to be honest with you. I think that it is. They've gone, again, look, there's so many things that the radical left has gone to now. That I think the black community is starting to wake up and say, wait a minute now. Our schools are not getting any better. Maybe we should try something different. I talked about this on Saturday. The problem is, I think, is that the Republicans just suck at messaging, right? Are the Republicans reaching out to folks in these types of communities? No. The folks reaching out to the Republicans have given up on certain places, right? You mentioned the drug addiction earlier, and that's something that sadly is really, is colorblind, right? I mean, you go down to San Francisco street, so you go down to San Diego. We were in San Diego last what was it like on September, I think. And I hadn't been there in a while. We were out there for a conference. We have an office out one of the independent solutions offices out there. And you know, you walk down the streets, I hadn't been out there in a while, which mission beach, and we were staying at the catamaran hotel is beautiful beach. It's right on one side is the ocean. Pacific Ocean, the other side is mission bays, gorgeous. And it's now got homeless people and drug addicts all over all over mission beach, all over that street, right? Well, look at San Francisco, right? You have to go to your $2.5 million home that nobody really can afford in order to get there. It's like, you just step over that guy. That's twitching in the middle of your sidewalk. But in California, I see actually a lot more white folks that are homeless than on the streets and I do see black folks that are homeless and on the streets. Some of the issues, there's a different issues for different people. I mean, the issues and some of these inner cities like Baltimore, Chicago, clearly the violence and gun violence and gang violence has got to be top number one. Lack of education in schools is a big problem. I mean, what's the graduation rate in Baltimore, you think? It has to be just absolutely. They did some studies in Baltimore. It was just shocking. Ryan, it was unreal. It was like not one kid passed like a second grade proficiency class of the graduating class. That's what I was going to talk about earlier. It was that bad. So remember, so we were talking about how important the education system is. And we've talked about privatizing education. Remember how you and Mike were talking about like two years ago, give me the buffalo city budget. And I could 20 years ago..

"How many people How many kids at one session or young people or how is it divided up into groups? Um, we usually are pretty cold. It. Um I dip you club was, uh, ravaged by fire back in 2013. So we rebuilt our boys and girls club here in Depew. It's a very top notch building and we can accommodate a lot of kids and pre covid where after school buses we were getting about 135 Children every day. And, um, but it's a big building. And once you split them up between all the different activities that we offer It's not too bad 135 sounds like a lot but spread out amongst all the activities. Um, it's it's doable. And then at night, we would have special activities for Clinics for basketball or different sports. We would offer instructions to another group of Children that would come in Um, separated by age. Okay. Um, when you talk about the different activities are they let's talk on review a little bit about what kids could do what would be a typical the kids would get off the bus. I shouldn't say kids are probably get a lot of Bed. Uh, letters, emails, young people. They would get off the bus, but they would go sign up. How do they sign up? And how do they get on the bus? And how do they get there? Well, we We require parents to fill out a membership further child. Or Children and how many you know, and then they fill out all the pertinent information and, you know, we usually have walked the parent and child through the club before school starts to see what the club's about if they've never been here before. And then when they get off the bus, every child signs in. We have a person right at the front desk. We do have a computer there where we can put in all the names of the kisses signed in. And then once they sign in, we have cubbies that where they put their belongings, and then they can go about You know, some kids will go right to the gymnasium. Some kids will go right to the Games room. Some kids will go to the arts and crafts room so There's a wide variety of programs offered. 4 to 2 to three hours after school that they can have their choice of Okay, when you stop, I'm not sure. Thank you. All right. Okay, so And then, um, when they are choosing these different activities do you have? I don't know if they called councils. But whatever that, Um yeah, that are trained in each like, in other words, is there some buddy within arts and is obviously a coach somebody for basketball? This kind of thing? Yeah, Every room or a reactivity that's available has an adult, um or a college student, but you know somebody there to that trained and that knows the area. For the Children to supervise them and have fun with them. We don't Think that they've been in school all day. So our environment is not as structured at school. We don't march the Children from okay, you're in the gym now. Now you have to go to arts and crafts. Now you have to go to the cafeteria to eat your meal. We don't do that. We let the kids gravitate to where they want to go and what they want to do. Which, because they're you know, in school all day, and they're told what to do. Right. So you want them to be have fun? I guess that's the idea. Yeah, I'm guessing I'm just speaking of you with him. I'm assuming the idea is is to have fun. Do Can you tell us about associations like the kids make among. Oh, gosh, they're going. They're going to be mad at me. The young people youth make among themselves And you know, uh, become friendly or make friends or meet later or continue their friendships. That kind of thing? Oh, yes, a lot of over the years. A lot of Black kids have met at the Poison Girls Club. Maybe they don't go to the same school. One might go to a Catholic school. I might go to a public school and they become friends through different activities, and I've seen it last. You know, through a lifetime with a lot of the kids that have grown up at our clubs. I'm talking specifically right now to pure Lancaster. Right, But I'm sure it's true at all. All of the clubs, right? Yeah. Do you have associations meetings? Um, group kind of get togethers either view the leaders or people involved in boys and girls from all different areas. Yes, we have right now We have a western New York collaborative. It's called there's 12 different organizations. All throughout western New York. All the boys and girls clubs in our in Western York our Mhm, um, are in this collaboration, and we do like yesterday We had a meeting on marketing. Uh, next week. We have a total collaborative meeting. We have a president. We have an executive director and we do meet On a regular basis and we talk, discuss all different Activities, funding opportunities, all different types of things that are pertinent to the boys and girls Club, But we we started. This collaborative effort started about four or five years ago. And it has everybody has their own individual Boys and girls Club. But it's grown into its gotten where everybody sort of his working together much. Better and more than we ever did in the past. Well, I assume that's that's really a good thing As you said, because you all have the same goal and you want to be somewhat consistent in the activities and the offerings and that kind of thing, right? Oh, yes. You know, we got you know, we we have Rochester involved James down to Jamestown, Northern Motagua. And then we have you know, the Buffalo City clubs. We have orchard power to roar and Alma. There's 12, different organizations and yes, with Don't we all have the same goal and we all try to help each other out. But is it different? Depending on the area? Where on the geographic area where you located? Are the offerings different? Or is any anything you know? Unusual in each place? Each club has their own identity. Some some clubs do different things more than others. Some, you know, depending on based upon the need, but for the most part, we do follow many boys and girls club programs, and we're Basically the same. Right. There must be consistent. I was thinking to ask you at the A long time ago. Was it always boys and girls Club or did that meaning? Did they always have boys and girls together? And, um, right, okay. With happened was back. It was all what? I grew up at the town Boys Club and Riverside section of Buffalo in that area there while it was boys Club. 11. When I first started working at the Pew Club, we were voice club and we didn't even allow girls in. That's the way it was until about 1982 83. And then Be that the trend was, you know, inclusiveness. Let's reach out. So then we started to let girls in my limited basis for a while and then Boys and girls Clubs of America..

"Be a good episode of covers and fire when we get to talk about the brightest teeth in rock and roll and then of course the man known as the voice of van halen Mitch malloy Mitch mitch malloy is back in the news. He has his own. Well it's called mitch. Malloy van halen experienced right down to where he's actually using the fucking van halen logo so Yeah this is the guy who doesn't want to be known as that guy who you know goes around telling people i'm i was in van halen. I don't want to be known as the crazy guy who goes around saying ale for those. That don't know Mitch malloy was almost the replacement singer of sammy. Hagar according to only one source though he has a little documentary on youtube called mitch malloy van halen lost boy lost. Yeah it's it's Well we've we've played clips went on the show over the years. We we had a lotta fun. Yes we have at mitch's teeth. It's nice that this is I think it was pointed out to us by one of the listeners. I don't i don't want to misquote but it was pointed out that the The event is ticketed by event. Doesn't this take place kind of like we're year old Neck of the woods there and south florida. Now i made it isn't it is. It's not really south. Florida now but Sorry jesus schork now. It's okay. I'm just letting you know. But but here's the thing is that i let you know michael that was. That was a person that i made me where he shared the initial post. Someone in the comments brought up the Event bright sorry steve. I surely don't want to not give you credit for Posting this in the group that definitely got the ball. Roller absolutely you did. Yeah and i was very excited to see that. You know exactly what we like. And you provide that content to us so yes gonna just read the announcement about this event in its mitch malloy. A celebration of van halen. It's got a picture of him and it is Is beautiful locks with van. Halen logo slapped on top of it. Not sure how you can get away with it and it says Mitchell oi the lead singer of iconic rock band. Great white. let's star that's this leading to. Yeah it's typical It's just typical kind of Self-written bio i'm gonna. I'm gonna let them have iconic. I'm gonna let him have that but it's it is misleading because I i guess. Do they even play any well. Whatever it is a little misleading because he's he's somewhat new to the great white world. That's what i mean but anyway but mitch malloy. The lead singer of iconic rock band. Great white true hit hit solo artist. Hit okay now that our now. We're getting a little bit about award winning songwriter. Who's who's the words from the buffalo. What was that one guy that was going to sing for vinnie. Vincent maybe mitch won a couple of words from that Buffalo city council Okay and producer. Does he produced his own records. I think he was also chosen to replace sammy. Hagar and van halen soon after the the odd thing about this thing is. That doesn't go for that. He was he was chosen to replace. Wasn't that's out there soon. After eddie's death rolling stone magazine restart to mitch time with the band. Just if that's true then we know what we were just talking about in the last episode of that about rolling stone being a shell of itself. Yeah come on the rolling stone. Did they really dig that. Deep i mean come on. We gotta do some risk to see that feature. Mitch's story was so intriguing. This interview evolved into feature for rolling stone. Gotta check this out. I'm gonna. I'm gonna look it up. Yeah for years. Fans have asked mitch to perform van halen so they can have a glimpse into what the legendary band would have sounded like with. Now he's crossed the line I don't think your friends and family a talking about it. count guy. i get asked that a lot. Yes they of actually. I'm sorry misread. It says for years fan has asked mitch to perform van halen and by the way i think he's build mom wrong to hey are either guy from covers and fire anyway. These requests kept pouring in so for one night. Only mitch will be hosting celebration of van. Halen with an a-list band mentioned with the band is no no not yet A portion of the proceeds will go to the music program at destin high school and the mattie kelly arts foundation so this is located in destin florida Which is more north floor. Kind of in the middle of florida ish near orlando. i have to go look at a map But it's october tenth. Twenty twenty one five thirty to ten pm and then there's a video attached on that which is basically a bunch of clips of him Like just photos and plays. "I'm getting paid for this right as always five questions for our guests question number one aside from kansas city who do you think is buffalo's biggest competition in the afc. I think it's the cleveland browns. They just continued to stockpile talent on both sides of the ball baker. I feel like has hit a ceiling. But he still a good nfl starter. I think the world is somehow undervaluing. Odell beckham junior once. He gets a full. If he's fully healthy this is one of the best set of pass catchers in in the nfl including the receivers and tight ends. Good defense myles. Garrett is a one man wrecking crew can ruin your day by itself love award there in the secondary so i i would have to say it's the browns in the afc. Yeah if you happened to catch my ipod last week. I was really oscillating between the browns ravens. Browns brown's it's browns ravens but my belief. Is that the bills browns and ravens are in that tier right below. The bills are above the. But i agree so question number two. Let's stay with the bills for a second. There's been some hubbub every now and then you'll see nfl player trading on twitter. And you don't know why realize it's just because pf dropped some ranking and people are mad because he's not on there. where do you think stefan digs. it was reagan one day ranks amongst nfl wide receiver. You can just do like top five top town. You have to like. Give me a specific number top four top four or five when we did this. We did the puck out last year. I called him a top eight. And i remember. You had a similar similar reaction. And i don't think it's so crazy to say anymore like but to put them out. I think it was nine nine or ten like pf did forty five or forty fifth best player in the league overall. I think you know bills fans are most defensive people in in the nfl guys but it's true. They are on to something when they say had picked up might do things just to get a rise out of bills fans because they know they're gonna blow it up on those rankings. Were also like everybody looked kept looking at them and thinking they're saying like this is the forty fifth receiver and it's like no no no. They're ranking quota players in a lot of players and a lot of physicians but yeah top four. I got to think about it. I definitely think he is top six. That's such a cop out. I'm like no. I think i'd take these bigger take. Yeah one that there's one more name. Then i'm absolutely and i just. I was just talking about this on twitter to. There's one more name that i'd probably take over. But then beyond that i'm not really not racer i take them. Healthy tossup tossup i. We're gonna move on question three. I think you're watching as much. Nba as i am which is to say my but is permanently glued to my couch at this point because i am addicted to the nba playoffs. And so you saw chris paul but his masterpiece. Who would you say is the chris paul of the nfl so like guy he's been around forever hasn't won the chip. Maybe like is has that kind of game. Would you compare him to. Maybe matt ryan guys just been around for a long time has all the has all the stats except for the fact. That matt ryan's actually reached the that final stage in just didn't finish. But i maybe ryan maybe matt stafford as well would be yes. Well they messed efforts. Very like pleasant. You know along those lines. How about philip rivers. I'm obviously not in the league anymore. But like widely seen as really good people are people are burning. Betas chris paul disrespect. It's not why. I think he is awesome. But also like very like an irritant on the kind of ornery like arnold. Yeah i like plus you get the actual you know. He's had some playoff success but not not all the way. Yes love that. He's once we get it but yeah all right. So let's scrap. Everything i said. And let me co-signed philip rivers with you as you. The question i was like oh my answer okay. So you've been in buffalo now for three years until you say it's been two years as of today actually. My question is not about the bills. That about the city of buffalo. What is the number one thing you would recommend to anyone. Visiting buffalo to do to anyone. Visiting buffalo to do could be restaurant. We'll see if this counts. And i might catch a little bit of hell for picking such a tourist trap but like you'd have to go see niagara falls. It's about twenty minutes out of town but it's close enough. You have to go see it. It's like truly the most incredible thing i've ever put my eyes on is actually if you want scary to me. It is horrifying like when you watch niagara the niagara river. You kind of say okay. This things moving not slow. So i can see why niagara falls is what it is but then you go see it or you go take the boat ride and it's just like i. My first thought was how does anyone. How did anyone get in a barrel and say survivor's like the pure cockiness early twenties america. I went to as a kid. So i haven't been back since then and they used to do things. You could take your photo where it looks like. You're in a barrel going down. I wonder if they must still have that. You know when you put your head. Those like cut out things so what i have. We childhood picture of me and my brother in these like pretend like we're in a barrel that's all i also. I was a kid. So i wasn't that scared because i was too dumb to be afraid. Now i would go there and be like. Oh my god. This is scary. I hate it. it's it really is just a a marble. And so like. I know it's like someone going arizona and tell them and go see the grand canyon but like you should probably go see the grand canyon if you're in arizona or if your intent on staying in buffalo city limits in the city then you have to go get the occasion honey butter occasion honey butter barbecue wings from bar. Bill they are they are. I mean i've never even heard of that flavor before my first time going. It's such a unique combination of flavors. Like i can't really describe it to you but you're just gonna want you're gonna want more but bring cash it's casualty that's again recommendation. All right last question and as always comes from lenny who heard you disrespecting earlier with the seahawks disrespect so he. He asked for a little bit of help from me. And i told him you're a sacramento kings fan. Speaking of the nba and lenny wants to know how you've enjoyed watching the in luca danni and trae young. The stars of the two thousand eighteen draft thrive in the postseason. He cut me deep. They're really did. It has been so bitter sweet. Like i've been quietly rooting for everybody to lose but like the there's just no way. The sons are losing out of the top five. Like how did they kings pick the.

"Of of modern buildings. Can you convey those kinds of ideas and to me. One of the visual sub themes in the book is communicating this notion of transparency in government. So you take a look at a building. Like san jose city hall in san jose california designed by richard meyer. Who is the personification of a modernist modernist architect and for him the way to communicate. That was getting as much glass in on the building or the buildings that make up san jose city hall. Get as much glass in the as possible so for him. He wanted the building to have a sense of transparency. That you can look into it and look out of it and you know. There's nothing secret going on here. You know we're here for you. This is who serving you you. You should be able to look in here and it's just flooded with light. The building faces west so it just gets a blast of afternoon light. And it's it's remarkable. Just the one of the photographs. I have of san jose city hall in. The book is just of light pouring into this hallway that connects to the office building. Part of sindhi. City san jose city hall to the city council chamber. And it's basically a glass hallway and the reflections coming through in the shadows in the light and have a quote from richard. Meier saying it's transparent. It's the way government should be. So there's that and then but then you look at a building like buffalo city hall which is an art deco masterpiece and in their city council chamber. They have a stained glass skylight. And it's a beautiful work of art called daylight and john wade who was the architect. He co designed it and his point was that he wanted sunlight. Filtering right down into the city council chamber where all these decisions get made to again like. Let let the light in. And to let the city councillors the council people know that you know you're you're basically you're being watched subliminally also an element of a stained glass from church a place of religious observation where okay you're being judged from above to the there's an element of that to it and the photograph captures that it is an overwhelming structure and yes really it use of stained glass and windows in light especially in that kind of situation one of the things that struck me I actually read the entire book. And i learned a lot of great. Little things is that it's not only about architecture but like as you mentioned early on some of the back stories that went along with this are equally interesting in One thing..

"They agree. That wind is by far the worst. Form of whether ma'am makings coming up in. Just a couple minutes We'll talk with him. we'll also get a chance to talk with steve marino. Just a little bit later on. Well county commissioner chairman steve marino and that will be exciting but first. Let's get into some sports. Shall we yesterday was a big day in the sports world Starting off with a blockbuster trade with the houston rockets. The rockets sent james harden to the brooklyn nets in a blockbuster four team trade that involved the pacers and the cavaliers as well completing the unhappy stars exit from houston. We talked about this yesterday. yesterday morning this deal happen about to fifteen Yesterday afternoon and then outside the nats announced the trade wednesday more brooklyn dealt houston. A package that included guard chris lavar Charissa vertex and three first round draft picks leak sources told espn's adrian house-key and ramona shelburne that the rockets trade liberte to the indiana pacers for victor oladipo. The rockets and pacers have not yet announced that deal. Obviously the main thing is that the nets are getting james harden and that means that. Now you've got a basketball team with kyrie irving james harden and kevin durant They are going to be absolutely voted out some of the key issues. That people are looking at are saying They're going to be enough of a basketball to go around. Because those are three dominant ball dominant players that have to have the ball in their hand to be able to do what they do. Best and there's only one basketball out there. So tricky situation for steve nash new to the nets to be put into but we will see how they happened. Now let's talk about the colorado avalanche. They got their season kicked off last night. "From buffalo city new york by lake eerie. The people who were conducting the sale on behalf of the owner an elderly. Who was living in sherman new. We were coming not my wife and they all turned out to be very nice people helpful and honest and help me with a lot of stuff not to be expected. As you might read into this. I ended up buying the car. I knew at the time. Little about mo- pars. And i could only rely on what they told me what i could see. The people selling the car were chevy guy so i guess they could easily rip off this idiot from abroad buying a bar. I could see. The car seem pretty original and as advertised original park. Since nineteen eighty-one numbers matching one repaying the seventies with some bondo in and around the wheel wells. The ad had a more extensive description with picks. And i found it honest and upfront. Perhaps the price was driving some people off. What do i know was the only one interested or fifteen thousand too much. I fell in love with the car. it actually started. I got to drive it for a short spin. After a little back and forth. I ended up buying the car for fifteen thousand. Yes i am not a hard bargainer but the sellers did commit to helping with receiving extra parts from ebay. Amd your one etc and with the transportation slash the prepping of car for container shipment to norway stupid money. Yes too much. Probably a little bit was two thousand ten but for me the extra two to three thousand or whatever i had to give it was worth it looking at today's prices for a similar car. I don't think i was a complete idiot. The car is as mentioned a three eighty three car bench seat. Seven twenty seven with shift around column all numbers match. Engine drive train chassis. It is a b seven jamaica. Blue car a really beautiful color. It is not a what it has got. Some nice extras like the eighth thirty. Six performance axle package with three fifty five ratio and the d. Thirty two heavy duty transmission the d. ninety one shirt back on and fifty one maximum engine cooling and the sixty five seven blade torque fan bass fifty one hemi suspension with sway bar and s. Thirty one fronts waiver. it has got drum brakes. Power breaks in the light package and the am radio with rear-seat speakers. It still has all the marks stickers from lynch road in the engine bay and underneath the motor hood plus the sticker about the spare wheel underneath the trunk hood perhaps all come and stuff but to me at the time an insight to the motivation of buying the car plus the fact that i fell in love with the car having found it would be cool if your podcast talked about mobile option codes and if this is something that makes a difference in today's market. What are the desirable extras. Is it. just the engine and drive train plus liftoff hood slash air. Grabber that are important is the market turning into further desirable details on this. I haven't listened to every episode yet so you might have talked about it already upon a more thorough inspection in oslo. I quickly realized that the quarter panels and the trunk pan were arrested out. So i needed to change those also. Someone had welded on a piece of metal underneath the back of the cars in an extra support for the rear bumper. So i assume the car's been involved in an accident hit from behind. It is not the correct date on the rear bumper which leads me to this assumption. I found to build sheets in the car underneath the back and the front seat. Plus i got the original new york registration certificate. I had still have no space for machinery or to a lot of work myself. But i have got help from my friends at a professional workshop. Not far from oslo. Magnus motor dot. No amd supply. New metal parts in a very skillful friend of mine did the bodywork new quarter panels and trunk as far as the drive train. Goes only cam and lifters have been changed purple line for manzini racing and a thorough taking apart putting back together replacing obvious broken and worn parts in the engine and drive train gaskets hoses etc. All of this work has been done by magnus motor dot. No in english. This would be magnus engine inc magnetism first name. They have really done a great job. And i would recommend them. The market in norway for old mo- pars is not huge. I guess i will end up winning at least twenty five thousand plus the sales price of fifteen thousand into this car in two thousand ten dollar versus norwegian currency was weak but still yes that is a lot of money some of it due to paying taxes on importing the car to norway but still stupid money. Yes i know. is it worth it. Yes it is. I will never ever probably sell the car. My kids can sell it. If they find the right buyer in five to ten years they will recruit my expenses or will they. What are your thoughts on the market. Still rising what cars in combos would one expect to be safe. Investments having had it for such a long time just sitting there has skyrocketed the value of the car. Although i am the only one recognizing that fact my history with a car is not worth a dime laden with personal nostalgia. I received a call at the port of oslo in two thousand eleven and will finally hit the streets of oslo as soon as the snow and bad weather is off the streets. Springtime twenty twenty one. That will be a good day. Besides the questions about where the market is going. It would be cool to hear your opinion on the car and what to do with it. I am looking to having it repainted but only on the outside keeping everything else as original as possible what to do with a semi desirable mo- par or to some of the extra options. Bill cheap it more desirable. Your thoughts best regards. Sandra be solheim oslo norway hey sandra thanks for sending in your story. Let's get to your questions so you were asking. A fifteen thousand dollars was too much to pay for the roadrunner. My opinion is no. I actually recently was looking at a nineteen seventy roadrunner project. It was orange four-speed car but it was a complete project and it's fifteen thousand dollars and when you looked at yours was running and driving. So that's good. You know it was back what ten years ago in two thousand ten. That's still not bad money. I don't think you've lost a dime on it in fact. I think you've gained money. It's be seven blue. That's a pretty desirable color. You ask me. I think it's kind of rare. But i mean rare. I hate to throw that word around too. But i would say desirable definitely desirable color because something that you don't see every day you know. I don't think it was stupid money. You know even in two thousand ten fifteen thousand dollars not bad. And i think you're absolutely right looking at prices today for other roadrunners you know same year. Same basically the same cars you know. It's hard to find running and driving project cars for that kind of price and it sounds to me like you've got a pretty pretty decent car you know so what it was hitting the rear. Most of these cars you know have had some sort of damage one way or another. You know what. I mean so. It's not uncommon when you get a fifty year old car. I mean it's like you're gonna. You're gonna have some issues. But i i don't think fifteen thousand was a bad deal. I would have bought it for fifteen thousand the money As far as talking about option codes on my podcast here The one issue. I have and i've i've thought about it. How can i talk about fender. Tag codes and vin number stuff and still keep people entertained. He no because it's kind of a visual thing. So i was actually thinking about going forward with something on youtube for that kind of thing So i'm i'm exploring some options. I don't know how much people want. Actually listen to fender tag code type stuff. You know what i mean. But i'll figure it out. We'll figure out a way to incorporate that kind of stuff into the show whether it be on the podcast or most likely video so that's one area of entertainment that i've been looking into to further expand. You know the content that i offer you guys might loyal talking low parts listeners. So keep your eyes peeled for that You know you ask what. The desirable options are for these cars. And of course you know shaker hoods sure grip rear ends. I mean hamis any big block car you know. Performance model. Any performance model is pretty much desirable. You know what i mean but even you look at three eighteen challengers and people just want the bodies you know. Those are great cars to do resto moths or did tribute cars. So even the lower end models the non. Rt's and things like that. Those cars are still making pretty good numbers you know when they sell so. It's kind of hard to say you know if i was depends on what you mean by desirable. You know i mean 'cause desirable can mean many different things to many different people. The most desirable obviously are hemi cars. Six pack cars or six barrel depending on your dodger plymouth Air grabbers and ninety. Six option is always good. You know whether it be air. Grabber or shaker four speeds. You know if you've got a pistol grip good you know. That's desirable rallye gauges desirable. I mean the power sunroof. If you've got a factory power sunroof that is desirable. Gator greentop that can be desirable so the list goes on and on when you talk about. You know desirable extras now. If we're talking about cars individually the cars that have you know two fender tags. Because they have so many options. Those are really desirable. Because you know you get so much in one car. And that's when you start when he started getting into all defender tags and all the options on them for specific vehicles. You can really dial it down as far as how rare that car is particularly. You know what i mean. You may have a car that there is no other car like it with those same options so technically. That's one of so that would be a desirable car now. How much does that add to the value. It depends on the car. You know what i mean. So there's really just a week ago down a rabbit hole talking about you know what's really desirable. But you know if you asked me. What was the most desirable. I would say any cars with three two barrel carburetors on top of a four forty desirable car and obviously hemi cars desirable The top of my list Convertibles you know what i mean Khuda convertibles desirable you know Any performance model of these cars is desirable so I necessarily say that it's just the engine and drive train. Like i said man you could really go down a rabbit hole with this but you know. Hey if you've got a hemi car. Very desirable i guess it depends on the person too. So we're not going to go down this rabbit hole too much farther. But that's basically you know my thoughts on it. You know just depends on the car. That's that's that's it As far as the market for mopeds in norway not being big. That's good for you. You put in twenty five thousand dollars into that car you know with the total investment cost of forty thousand. You know. it's hard to find a decent road runner. You know that's been even partially restored. That is in good running and driving condition for forty thousand in the state. So i can only imagine if you had to go to the united states to get one of these mo- parts back to europe. That's a cost in and of itself. You know if you come over here. And he's been forty thousand dollars on a really nice roadrunner and you take it back to norway. You're going to have some extra cost you know. The importing cost all that stuff. So i think you're in the right ballpark. I think you're doing great. I think you should keep restoring this car as much as you want. You know what i mean. Don't don't throw one hundred thousand dollars at the car but you know forty thousand fifty thousand. That's pretty good investment. You know in in twenty years or kids will probably make some money on the car to be honest if they wanted to sell it so. I don't think you're doing anything wrong. In fact i think you're doing the right thing. I think you got a good car because the road is one of those. It's like a universal car that everybody loves you know because it's the road runner so i don't think you'll ever have a problem getting rid of in europe. That's what you wanted to do. Let's see what else were you asking. You were asking my thoughts on the market for mo- pars and i'll just touch on that again. A little bit here. And i think the market is still strong. I don't see it going anywhere. I see project car. Prices still continuing to rise even with lower end models. Like the bodies. They're still up in price. So you know are there deals to still be hat out there. Yes absolutely but they're few and far between seems i. You know. I look at thousands of these cars and you know. Only a handful of them are really screaming deals and when they're that good of a deal they're gone so the market is still strong in my opinion. Now from what i understand all these big auctions your mecum and bear jackson and you know these high dollar auctions from what i understand. People are telling me that the prices are starting to come down on these really desirable. No parts that we were talking about earlier so you know the project car market. I don't see slowing down anytime soon. But apparently the higher end more desirable collector mope. Ours are coming down in price. So that's what i've heard. I haven't experienced it because my wallet is not that fat. My pockets are not that deep yet. So i try to stay out of that world to stick to what i know which is pretty much project cars or driver quality cars so yeah man my opinion. Keep doing what you're doing. Keep the car and you know. Don't invest too much but you know build a car how fun you know when you're talking about these cars you really should never unless you're a flipper unless your business is making money on cars. You should really never consider the money as far as you know. How much is this gonna be worth in the end. The most important thing is. Are you going to enjoy it when you can drive it if you can. If that car gives you a smile every time you look at it if that makes you smile every time you get in the driver's seat you put that right foot into the ground and you know. Burn some rubber. Does it make you smile. That's all that matters you know so. That's my opinion. I'm sticking to it and yes i will add one more thing and that's that any documentation you get with your car like build sheets even fender tags. Some people buy these cars with no fender tags. Which you know is kind of a pain but you know if you've got a fender tag got build sheets any documentation you can have for. That particular car is a good thing. You know if i was going to buy a mo- par and i'm looking at two of the same cars and one of them has documentation and the other doesn't but one of them ten thousand dollars more you know in the long run. Maybe that ten thousand is going to be worth it. You know when you have a fully documented car versus one. That has nothing. So that's my opinion once again. And i'm sticking to it. Thanks sandra for sending in your story. Our next listener story comes to us from chris. London aka big red here is big red story acres. Names big red and i love the show. I especially enjoy listener stories. So i figure. I'd give you my story. Let me give you a little background about myself. I'm a millennial. I grew up in a nineties and amid thousands bread mo- par or no car so early on just like johnny. Par has the circle cars. He can't get rid of. I started started developing a list. List two cars that are really really wanted and of course on top fullest has to be something that's unobtainable to the normal person. I love the wing. Cars daytonas the skittle color super birds. But this is a story about my encounter with my number two dream car so when i was in high school. My first car was a ninety one chevy caprice station wagon. V8 torturous two wheels lau flow master dul exhaust perfect car for a high school student but obviously wasn't for well one day i'm out cruising around. I had stop at lowes for. I don't know what cans of paint or something anyway. Pull in and they're sitting in a parking lot front row as a brand new two thousand six dodge magnum s rt. Eight and man thing lou gorgeous and of course since i had a station wagon. I had the park right next to him. So i went in got my stuff. Came back out as was coming back out. I see leaving the parking lot. And i'm like oh i gotta go catch up to that so i adopted my caprice as fast as i could raced out of the parking lot and i caught up to it at a red light and of course being a sixteen year old kid i was. I gave it a little ripped it up a little bit for him. And then as lightweight green. I punched it and that car flat embarrassed me and from that day on i've been hooked.

Be Able to pick a week where we could go see a blue jays home game and then go to. Buffalo to see them play the arrest of a series or whenever it might be that's That's a pretty sweet. Yeah it'd be able to see that. And wooden two hours of each other more or less. Oh absolutely, and you know Buffalo City already has the rivalry in fourth with with the Boston Bruins and and the New England Patriots and New York jets and Rangers and whatnot. So I just in the same division as the Red Sox and the Yankees South rivalry fair and the Toronto. Then they're basically having the exact same team for cities representatives the exact same division of from..

"Two eight three six zero five ninety there's another video this morning to deal with another controversial video involving police officers this time a seventy five year old protests right so this is out of buffalo New York two police officers have been suspended without without pay after this video shows them shopping the seventy five year old man yeah and I'll be honest with you they didn't need to I saw the video this morning Alyssa can we get that on the tada don show Facebook page yeah this is so this is not good it looks like the police officers are walking down the street should there you know got all their riot gear on and not looking like what you would expect police officers should look like in situations like this but how these two police officers handled themselves is wrong and I'm I'm wishing that some other police officers would have stepped in to help and you see them the old man walking towards the line of police and then you see two officers step up and just shopping bush put their hands on his chest and pushing any fall straight backwards hitting his head on the concrete and almost immediately blood is just gushing from the back of his hand it's horrible now one officer that pushed tried to bend over to help and another officer pulled him off and said keep walking yes I did looks like they did call a paramedic immediately but yeah the video was taken just after the eight PM curfew from buffalo city hall immediate receiving some backlash online Twitter users tagging new York's governor the Attorney General of this viral clip the social media grew even angrier after the department released a statement saying the unidentified man tripped and fell now that right there is no listen I it's time for people to call out this stuff I saw he didn't trip and fall he got shot to death that he may or he may have tripped and fell because he got shoved it was uncalled for Anna its pretty disappointing that the police department out of buffalo released that statement listen this this is why people are mad if if you and I'm not just find what they did but but I do have to say if you choose to it yet eight to me it did look like that he I mean he was walking towards a he was kind of getting in their way look like he would he was maybe about to be a little bit aggressive with them eight if if you do choose to get aggressive with police yeah you got to be prepared for anything you don't do that but at the same time this was a seventy five year old man and in the in the action went too far it it did go too far yeah I know I know right now the police are tested their tents all over the country show that reacting and that maybe they're they're gonna react a little bit too quickly and that's what happened here and that's the wrong reaction it was the wrong reaction I don't I don't understand why there wasn't more attention paid to this man after he had fallen clearly injured himself and I think was unconscious they did a lot of them just kept walking and just kept walking like they were targeted in that it was on orders of course and and and I'm I'm serious about this I am a strong police advocate I really am this idea of the funding police I don't like it at all but listen it's time for good people to step up and point out when Pete when cops make a mistake and they got to be held accountable they have to be around this this chaos is just going to continue just gonna continue it if we if there wasn't a video of this somebody with their cell phone this would have been just the old man tripped and fell yep that's right eight and and and again I think the old man made a misspelled mandate the man made a mistake he did make a mistake by by doing that I'm not sure what by doing what what did you see that he did wrong well listen you have the police who were kind of in formation in there you know the I guess preparing for the evenings whatever's about to happen esports pro testing goes they they had just imposed a curfew eight PM and they were starting to walk the streets to send everybody home it looked like he wanted to confront an officer he wanted to stand there and yelled out his finger yeah you did it is which is legal I'm not saying therefore you need to pay a price I'm just saying that when you choose to do that that day prepare for anything don't get aggressive with officers well we're going to be on the opposite into spectrums on this incident you I don't think you can label all incidents like this in one way every little incident is different the cops should handle themselves in a different way based on the incident and the you know whatever is happening at the moment and in this moment what those cops did was uncalled for well the game was flat out wrong yeah I got you I got you into and I did it it was just leave it at that about that no I think moral no all right because I think there's more to this discussion because people even though what they did was wrong and I'm really sorry about the outcome I don't think you should it's never a good idea to to confront a police officer H. it or to to well that's a moral morass of problems he softened that's a problem I think we should be able to confront our employees okay but not a great when I do something wrong it okay you don't think so yes yes but taught is not that black and white here it's not it's not yes well it that what happened was horrible I hate works in every city it every situation is a little bit different every situation every video every scenario is different this one this man should not have been pushed no I think the cop overreacted he did but I but what I'm saying is don't get aggressive with police don't want aggressive with them the just never a good idea never never never never never but yeah what did he do what he did he raised his voice and pointed his finger he was walking towards a very aggressively and I pushed him back and you're seeing a lot of that right now that the police have you seen the video yeah the whole thing so it's morning time so the police are there being there being you know they're on alert right now so you're seeing a lot of that in the scrap situations where if anybody comes too close to the police when they're when they're in a line like that in there in the right gear they're pushing them back they're pushing them back now what happened with this cop I don't think he assessed the situation and the fact that this is a seventy five year old man and so he just really thought about that I mean his exact age was not obvious but he was an old man yeah he was elderly and and the cop reacted too quickly and this is what happened but I'm just saying if you ever do decide to get aggressive with a police officer at a time like that you better be ready for something to happen and it's not gonna end well for you I think that competent to short of the fuse and that cop is not a choice and that cops should not be on the streets an old man pointing his finger at you should not involve any kind of violence well I don't think the officer honest thank every police officer listening would agree with and I I I don't think that the officer meant to knock this guy down he now if you watch the video because the guy is older he went down pretty dang easily he lost his balance easily because of his age I don't think that that but anyway that that was the goal of the officer but it did happen and it's it's really unfortunate really and especially given the timing all right five one two eight three six zero five ninety we've got that video on the time to don show Facebook page right now check it out share your opinion people already weighing in on its seven twenty six and listen I know you're gonna have a lot of time this weekend to do some you know some yard work around the place you know and it's very important to have the very best mulch around your flower beds on on your property Texas native mall hardwood mulches you know you need to tell your landscaper that you want Austin wood recycling is Texas native hardwood mulch they got a wide.

"Yeah well the blow by blow back was a swift and decisive the sales person the council voted five zero earlier this month the stop reciting the pledge to the flag in an effort to be more inclusive to new residents and non citizens but mayor J. expand and one council member weren't present and didn't vote and I mayor span saying this probably you know more important things that they should be working thank you mayor span out and fertilize a lot of fields with that crap I feel I'm a former mayor yeah and and a city council member and when I got to the wheel Coney as city council I asked Hey are we routinely opening up in the pledge of allegiance and it had been spotty but because I pushed it up quite a bit we began every single meeting with the pledge of allegiance and you know how many people came forward outcry and that they were offended and and how they as a snow flake were melting because they were we're deeply shocked zero well you know how many people calls and your emails today thanks so much for setting the tone for the work that you're about to do you're about to make policy and now the capital we do that every single day that were in session I think that it focuses the intention of the work that you're about to do and why you're there and for whom you're going to do this is for the American people the Minnesota people and this is just garbage yeah I can't imagine did that if someone did people come forward and just droves to complain about the pledge and so one is the mayor said it just seems like there's so much more you could be doing with your time Saint Louis park city council and then I saw some of these things get going though Jim like some some kind of resolution like this is that I'm a council member is it just you right so are so so the way the the issue works at a municipal level is either to city council members can have something added to the agenda or the mayor I can have something added to the agenda I am in either a weak or strong mayor system that's how it works so can somebody along the way decided that it was a wise injudicious idea to put this forward and you know I forget the name of the council member that read the rest more than likely it was them plus one other person that had had it put on I believe it was the consent agenda or it was just the regular agenda but what a what a bunch of crap because the the people that you are there to represent my guess may have made two or three comments total and you're going to change a a really important part of setting the tone to your your business you're about to conduct based on the opinion of two or three snowflakes it was a council member and Maddie we sponsor the original motion and she said that roughly half of Minnesota cities already don't require the pledge of allegiance to your side of the council meetings that being true my issue wasn't necessarily whether they said the pleasure not I certainly would have a preference that they do but you know I live in lake belum before that I lived in apple valley and I have no idea whether they say the pledge before before for their meeting so obviously it's not something that has affected you know my citizenry in those cities but the reasons that they gave that the mere recitation of the pledge of allegiance was somehow exclusionary that it was somehow oppressive that it somehow that it wasn't welcoming two new Americans is so bizarre because you know how your welcoming to new Americans by being welcoming to new Americans is this saying that the council doesn't think that they're doing a good enough job well so first of all if you're truly a new American any just been sworn in as an American citizen was one of the things that you do you take the pledge yeah so there's that on top of that when we did this in the city of Waconia we never you know turned everybody in said recite or else but that's not what we do if you want to say the pledge of allegiance find great we're happy that you're joining us if you don't you know what we're not gonna take you out in hand cuffs so again that somebody might get their delicate feelings hurt by the recitation of the pledge of the of the you know lesions get over it it's important stuff to stay again just to to set the mindset to frame what you're about to do and sadly I think that we're gonna see a domino effect with with other people saying all moved to the pledge we have people the capital who are you I've seen them not put their hand over their heart and it seems to me that I don't see their mouths moving there maybe not doing it fine that's what I see okay so this is also so what happens when you do something like this as Brian said I have no idea if we I'm from buffalo is the buffalo city council does the fight the the pledge every time it it will if they did great I think that's great if I were there I would join them in the pledge but then we can become sort of this like because either way one you get a bunch of cities that are gonna say no let's do it too because we're gonna join is sort of this like lefty liberal tirade or you're gonna get the other side right now somehow there's gonna be a requirement that's not about America America is about like we're proud to be Americans we get to be citizens of this amazing country there's nothing offensive about that you get to be as a part of that you could say the pledge you can stand quietly in respectively while these a while others recite the pledge you know I don't care what you do but to to have a city council out right eliminated in a vote it's just this on a second if such is so extreme as such as extreme reaction during my time as mayor I invited as many as scouting organisations as I could get to come in and bring in the flag and lead us in the pledge allegiance and what did that do I have heard from those scouts as they've grown up over the years I said you know what that was a fantastic time that's one of my fondest memories of being a cub scout your there as an elected leader to also sort of demonstrate citizenship to the people who are in your community and those scouts loved it so these these people in Saint Louis park they need to reconsider this and I think that they would need to realize that they were dead wrong it for me also it's kind of this this capping off like a month for me of June where it's just seems like there's been a lot of Minnesota there's been a lot in my world about this so I don't we can touch him right I want to talk about like so the DFL one of the DFL who think uses comms director for the Democrat the Minnesota DFL party at any tweeted out he was they were today and christened and Jim you had gone to the customer of the USS Minneapolis Saint Paul correct and so that's really very cool but that was on the news and then someone from the comms guy from the DFL tweeted about the guy he's not he's not interested in having a murder boat named after our Minneapolis him after our great city of murder about now I served I'm a proud of Russian linguist in the Air Force and had a son classic I you have a son that is serving in the navy correct and it was just to me really I I don't get out raise a lot of us if you don't see ME tweeting a lot about outrage on these things but to them to me that was just so ugly in a way that because your son didn't sign up I certainly does I would sign up to save lives that's why I went into the military I thought that I I was going to be you know probably supporting America around the world and and that and then I'm saving lives that's the point of the military I am and and then later as TV six a person Tom emmer whose son he's actually got a son I think of the navy and one of the marine correct and he posted a very prep picture at the graduation of a sign up for the marines and DFL CD six activists on the board tweeted at them about what could be so proud when he's kicked something about killing and murdering children which is just gross and a mindset that is a complete lack of understanding clearly some might people that have not served and and don't have folks close to them that have served and they would get a quick lesson what so I did weigh in on both of those and and heavily the first one the whole murder bowed thing I went to that christening and I was overwhelmed with just how cool it was and how this ship not a murder boat but a ship was going to go off and really bring peace to the world and so it's a it's a it's what type of ship is excellent Horrell combat ships so it is it is something that actually is close to shore and it would do things like protection ping lanes or many other missions it can can be inserted into but as the dad of a kid the navy who right now is deployed I was deeply offended and I just swung for the fences and you know actually had a phone conversation with the DFL chair as did I I and and I said you know what you and I disagree on pretty much everything but what we can agree on is that we love our state we love our country we take different policy pathways but you need to fire this idiot right now he still hasn't been fired so can if you're listening this morning fire this Martin had because it's still is offensive to people and my son who is was removed from his kind of position as well five times I've know when it will be given a pink slip no but my son who was in the navy actually had wife I connection as they were going to the Panama Canal and he's like dad who is this idiot so my kid who you've just said is a murderer by saying that a ship is a murder about is on a hospital ship and right now actually a picture in the navy times came in this morning of my kid and he's administering health the people who have no health care as a mercy mission on the hospital ship comfort so again can Martin I'm calling for this guy to be fired but it's it's a bigger issue here there's a whole wave of anti military anti America anti flag anti to them and you know here we are about to have the week of of independence day I would call for the listeners just to you know weigh in with their local officials and say are you doing the pledge of allegiance well because because as with the pledge from fellow spark city council there was just this assumption that just by its existence that it's oppressive and you see this that attitude what would you both of you just described with the military that that that the United States military just by existing has to be a force for evil eye force for for murder and I mean we we are a work were pretty sick society right now if we are the exact self loathing I mean take away take away people don't have to like the president they don't have to like any of their elected officials that is that is their choice but to just look at the structure and function of America and American government and say this is inherently evil is just so hard to stomach yeah so I have the opportunity to attend the university of Berlin and when there was an east and West Berlin and for fun we did a lot of dumb things but one of the dumb things we did was we would take little American flags on we'd stick them in the in the pockets of our jackets and when we're in East Germany we would walk by government buildings would stick the American flag in their little planters outside and you know what what we heard from other people's wow that's really really gutsy but thank you for caring with you this emblem of freedom and as I would come back from the east going into West Germany you would see at freezer shots of the at the check point Charlie you would see the American flag there and every time I would do that I would come back and I was overwhelmed kind of with the motion and and Amy I'm sure you saw that as well like when when you we would go into the oil you work on your shoulder your American flag on your shoulder as my son does it's an all inspiring icon that represents this amazing country that we live in that is really the envy of others around the world what do you like our current commander in chief you know what that's fine when Obama was president I was not a fan but I still love my country and I didn't conflate the two with because I didn't like about I was gonna hate my country the two are I served under Bill Clinton I certainly didn't vote for him I'm not Bill Clinton fan in any way but I am extraordinarily proud to have served and did my job and by the way the the men and women in the armed forces sacrifice sell much the hours they work their time away from their family their family sacrifice the deployment the you know the the work that we ask them to do for almost zero money to have someone slapped them in the face and get say that they're doing this and that there's still intent or that their murders it's just it's gross and I know again you know can Martin eight he agreed with me well then let's you know let's be very that's be very fine on that point to get it done everyone and speak out loudly and proudly we are due for a break but when we come back ready continue this discussion honesty from maple Grove I can from Saint Paul please I stay on the line and we will get to you the lease our cat that we can for me again but anyway but you're listening to.
