"You'll on my kata turns burns on two of them and rain all the Lopez was really really good yesterday as pitch very very well. He's had a couple of hiccups. But I thought he had the night where they combined with the staff or what? Twenty strikeouts. Some crazy number. They've got some pieces. They got some tough luck on injuries that stuff happens. But again, there's some pieces there and there's more coming and they got a high draft pick. And they also have a great voice of the Chicago White Sox. He's our friend is Jason Bennati, and he joins us. Now. Jay, how're you doing buddy? Jordan. How we doing very well enjoyed watching your team play last night. It seems like you'll on Moncada is really starting to be comfortable at the plate. Just not only hitting home runs. He just looks like he's a more comfortable player. I think that too. I agree with you completely. He's getting a day off today, which is the first day off. He's had one of those schedules as off so Ricky rectory is using the day game into the night game into the off day to create a couple of days of rest for today. The old Stephen the lineup today. But man he that fastball high fastball Stony set at that high fastball. He hit up it out. That is not easy to do. Because for Steve allotted got a high. Fastball increases a couple of miles an hour like that that's a really physically very tough to do. And he made it look very simple tonight. I wanna ask you about Carlos road. Don to be in this Tommy, John surgery. Obviously, I it's it's going to be a long road recovery. They're expected him back as I see it the second half of next season. Some people are pointing to the fact that he can't seem to maintain his health is the fact that he may have been overused in college. These rumblings that you hear and believe to be true at all. I just had such a hard time even people whose job it is to come up with imperial data on why injuries happen. I have a difficult time blaming any specific reason I taught out but after doing a full season about could fall weather guy, Robbie almo- who is in great shape kept himself in great shape. And just got hurt a bunch of times times you just unlucky. So I hate hitting it on anything specific because there's always an answer. Like in sports. We always want an answer. We always want to be able to say here's what has happened. I don't know that we can just say that. I just go. If you look at the issues that you've had in terms of injury. You can also look at the glass half full and feel like, hey, man, Eloy Jimenez, dodge day, real issue at the wall. He's going to be back here in a week. They've got him locked up long-term. They've got other players that are part of this rebuild like Moncada starting to assert themselves. I didn't see James McCain come in. I didn't think he's he's not gonna hit three seventy. But he's a really nice player. And then they've got players down in the minors like Dylan ceased who are going to be parties. If picking number three in the draft like I choose to look at the glass half full. Don't you? See White Sox fans feeling like this thing is on an uptick. I do. I mean, the the of. Park that weekends series of Boston toxin play. Well, but the weekend series with j up people are excited, even here's a story that I was told when the Red Sox were beating the White Sox fifteen to two or whatever it was. I was hold that. The director of the Red Sox show was was fine. Find sad White Sox fans in the crowd and had a very difficult time doing which is which is a really good little need note that that I got passed along to me. But the thing I'm most excited about captured the trajectory that we're seeing one guy wants all of these hyper talented new floor in the majors, whereas deason that's rocking like Di Lido and Lopez and one Katha they have come out the other end and have shown significant of Santeuil gains this year. That's a huge positive for me at a blueprint for this team moving forward, especially as people do get healthy. And I know other people will get heard. But like, I'm I'm excited about Moncada GIO Lido and Lopez as a blueprint for what we're going to see from Hillary Jimenez, a year down the road from Dylan feed your down the road kopech all those guys they're going to have that same upward trajectory because we know they have the talent. Yeah. No question J B as you look at this team. And the fact that they've been playing better baseball late. You can look to that starting pitching six hundred less. Eight starts have been quality outings. But the all things is what's really impressing me. And how hard they've been hitting the ball this year wrecking second major league hard hit percentage. How good is this office in your opinion? How good can it be? Yeah. I think it can be really good. I mean, the stocks are inching toward five hundred with a lawyer Jimenez on the shelf, and you know, like he is a fearsome bat. There's a reason that the first couple of weeks of the season he sought off highest percentages lighters. Major league baseball. It's because people think they can get him out that way. But also they're taking care to pitch him certain way, and he's in very early twenties. So when you add that to the lineup full tray. I think you're gonna see even better results in terms of the death of the lineup. But him Anderson is much improved cat mentioned James McCann is out of this world. Right. You can make an argument for him being the all star pitcher in the American League a month and a half into the season. And nobody saw that coming off instantly. So I'm excited to come to the ballpark and see what the offense is gonna do every day. And you got a break leads the league in barreled right now, we had one of my favorite guys on the other day that would be Tim. Anderson. So I hope you're backflip calling tonight. Okay. Man. Tim got one last night and Sony was making fun of me. But Tim Saudi too. So I'm in good company. Keep doing what you doing. We appreciate you taking time. We'll see at the part of the best, man. Thank you guide. So you body. There you go. That's our guy Jason Bonetti. We.

"That did like total joint surgery told me Bill hips the shoulders saws drills met mixers turn. It gets attorney kits all types of different things fourth Pacers. What was the nast gnarliest surgery that you had sit on? Man, I had to do some there. We had a certain product like stop stop leading. So I had to like OBGYN procedures and the amount of respect I have for women. Now having to go through some of that stuff as I it's incredible. It was I don't know if you'd call it gnarly, but it was not it was not fun. But. It was quite the experience. So so so, but you, but you make good coin, right? You're taking doctors out to eat. Right. The hours are little trying whatever. But it things could be rougher for a recent college graduate. Okay. So I always thought that your dad, and look I left ESPN right before he joined SPN and your dad's one of those guys that should be should be should have been a superstar. Right. Should have been Almaguer. I don't ever think he was able to be comfortable enough. Like, I you know, what I mean like like Seth Greenberg is very good. And he was always good to your dad, and like, but I for whatever reason like the two Jews. I don't know. Why didn't it just never felt like they found the right guys with him to make it sing is that fair? I think part of that is that I think the other part of it is I think once he started doing TV, I think he started itching to get back into more just because he got around it again. You know what I mean? Yeah. No, listen, if you do I tell the urban Meyer did the games when he was ESPN I told everybody like he's gonna coach again like you do the game. You a studio. It's kind of it's it's I I like it because you feel like you can watch every game. But it's not the same. Whereas you do a gain and you really prep for you watch tape. You talked to the coaches, you're, you know, you you sit there and watch film with them you watch practice. You're like, dude. I miss it. I miss you. Even miss the losing as much as the mist of winning. I know exactly what he was doing like you sitting covering games. And he's that practice. He's writing sit down like, oh, this'll be good for what we do. You know, he's sitting there taking notes for if he ever got back into coaching. What would work what wouldn't work? I think he learned so much and those, you know, those couple years when he was working with the SPN watching film watching other teams because when you're you know, when you're in your coach, you do you spend so much time on your on your team that you don't unless you really make a concert to get out there during the summer and go sit down with other teams, which we pretty job of you. Don't get ton of time to kind of add to it. 'cause you're so busy doing million different things. He had those three years to kind of refine his craft and and make what he did better. And like you said, I think being around practice being around the kids the ins and out the intricacies of of what you do every day. I think it made miss it even more. So I think getting back into TV was I mean, a major the why he got back into coaching. Okay. So he he did he call you first and say he was taking the average how the Auburn thing. Go down in terms of the your knowledge of it. But we were heading down. It was me BP. And then my buddy Jordan Hal who played with me, Tennessee. We were actually driving down to Atlanta think coach at something going on Atlanta..

"Because every week when the Steelers lose, it's a fire fest. You know, we do it. Sometimes fire Butler fire, Joey fire this. It's a fire fest, rerun polls. On our side, we everybody runs polls. Can we give the coaches some credit in this win? Can we give Thomas and credit? Can we give Keith? Butler can credit and can we give the special teams hero that gum that Danny Smith was chewing some credit that was some help Abobo extra because he was killing that gum. So can we give the gum? Danny Smith was true and some credit is the NFL. It's tough to win. Coaches do their best to prepare their teams every week. Sometimes you win. Sometimes you don't, but can we give the coaching stamps and credit? And if you were to rate this coaching staff, it's a four out of four. They were. Good in all phases of the game, offense defense special teams and especially that hubbub bubble gum that Danny Smith was June. Yeah. I mean, when you think about it, I've I've often said that coaches get too much blame when they use in not enough credit when they win. And if we're going to criticize Tomlin and we're gonna criticize Butler and all these other coaches every single week when they lose, I think it's only right, like you said that we give them credit when they win. And I thought that today's plan was good. No one has ever in. No one should ever talk about Mike Tomlin knob being able to motivate and get his team ready to play because the man can do just that you can talk about time management. You can talk about criticisms in game adjustments. You can talk about drafting personnel that stuff, but in terms of motivating his team, getting them ready to play and winning big games and staying in it, that's his MO. And that's one of the reasons why he's not going anywhere. Even if the season Steelers would have lost today and he tank the season. He's. I'm not gonna go anywhere. So. Let's. So you're right though. When you think about it, all all three phases were phenomenal. Even Jordan bury our buddy Jordan berry had a couple nice punts pitted them deep. The blocked punt by Roosevelt Knicks was a huge game changer. I thought all three phases Representative sells very well today. So if you're on YouTube right now, you're live. Let's go ahead and have some questions. We have a couple. Someone was talking about Matthew Thomas. Nathan in union thing is about Matthew Thomas, is that yes, he is the athletes. He is the fast linebacker that the Steelers have been missing since Ryan shazier been injured. But that doesn't necessarily mean that he is ready to play every down inside linebacker for the Steelers, in my opinion, if you give him this season spot playing or just being in the meetings and getting acclimated. And then in the next season, maybe he's battling for a spot, but. I agree. Someone said they wished they, he would have gotten more time today against the falcons, but he didn't. You agree with that? Lancet it. It's. Do you agree with pudding talent on the field over preparedness? Because that's exactly you'd have because Matthew Thomas is probably not prepared to step on the field, but he is very talented. I'll answer the question by saying this listeners, would you trust your thirteen year old daughter to drive a car when she's had one lesson. Absolutely not. So it's great to be fast, but you need to know where you're going and what you're doing. So until you do that, you're going to compromise your defense, especially when you're in the middle of the defense. So you can't put a guy out there if he's not ready, he'll just make fast mistakes. Yeah, I agree. And so the next question that we have here on the live chat is will bud Duprey get it together. It's kind of a vague question. I think that there's an obvious frustration. With the Steelers in that first round, pick and bud depre- talk about penalties..

"So it was it was really hard. I had very minimal clothing and. I just had a concentrated just being so cold and I, I didn't even remember what it like like not shiver because I was freezing the whole time. Okay. Jessica that you had the survivor experience. What's next for you? I think great question. I, first of all, I would love to play again. I'm always going to hope that I get that chance. I would hop on a plane now. They asked me to come out in film again. I would do it again in a heartbeat, but now I think I'm just really going to start focusing on myself and my career and my future. I'm hopefully going to start looking into getting involved in modeling somehow and tied that out. And then just really kinda shoot off and get like a job for a. As communications type job was like a TV production type thing. I'm looking into a couple of things. I don't want to give away too much, but the ultimate goal is I know spor in California. Yes, yeah, no spoiler to get enough of those, I wanna live in California. I would love to work in that area. I feel like I would thrive in that type of environment. Just very nice to talk to you. "Everything on, display including way too much of Vince Wolford in those shirtless. Overall but that's a separate story entirely from. A football perspective what would you tell people at. The, head coach says hey my team's going to be on hard knocks what should I expect So there's two separate conversations here number one. I always start off by Ellen people that the people that produce hard knocks that direct hard knocks are awesome I mean they. Do a great job, they're professional they work really well with. The coaches and general managers and they. Just do a great job but at, the end, of the day hard knocks is a brutal show for the coaches you know the cameras are in every meeting you, have to be very aware of. The. Camera bean and every meeting I think as a football coach I just think it's a very. Tough show. For the coaches I have not watched. The show since we were on the show because I'm just, not a huge fan of that and football I think there's a I know it's great for the fans I think it's, awesome for the, fans but at the end of the day there's a there's, a sacred part of football in the meeting room in. The locker room on the practice fields that you know, that, is a very invasive show yeah and so. I just I always Tell guys you know people that, call me about the show it to, the people, that produce it to a great job but it's tough it's tough and and and as a coach you got so, many things on your plate night. Now. You add that to your plate That's a tough deal, I think that. Way knowing. Your background because that's the thing, as a fan you'll love it but every time. Bill I watched him thinking other coaches Eight eight this. Yeah they definitely do, brutal brutal I will listen to Billy we. Appreciate you being with us this morning. To be, a lot. Of fun for you. To start this year hopefully with everybody healthy your best players on offense and, defense Bill thanks. For being with us, this morning thanks coach appreciate it I see I could. Absolutely see that absolutely see the fact that coaches hate that you see the personalities come out of certain players. In that the cameras, end up gravitating toward and I'm sure not. One producer interviewing that at all called. Him, Billy, Billy Billy Aware of course that was it okay Billy Baru It. Is interesting Casual trae that's just, so you know for those of us who played, golf with him L. L. also is nicknamed just, say but it is interesting because as fans you, love the love the inside and his. Coaches that's the one thing they want to. Protect that's why no matter what the patriots record ever. Be you will never see Bill Belichick on hard, knocks never coaches or. Neurotic can you understand that and everyone's guarded around football, circles the the number one thing you've seen any building is the paranoia that someone out there might be getting an edge. On you might be getting some sort of secret out of. There I think on the other side, though as much as I probably wouldn't like to have cameras in my face all the time and that kind of setting because you're so focused on. It I think there is a valuable service that it provides for the guys in the league because you get more of an understanding watching as a fan we've seen so much today has been that disconnect people, saying, well what's the difference between getting hurt in the end of the preseason as opposed to week once he's, insane but there are there are gaps in knowledge that people that don't have the experience of being out there can't always fully. Appreciate I think hard knocks kind of provides that because you You see a window into this. Is what these guys are dealing with not. Just in the facility but their family life at home. How that impacts them how certain aspects that you, just can't get unless. You're up close and right in to really appreciate and, I think there's something valuable in that for the guys on the inside for fans on said look and say all right. I understand a little bit more listen all I all I. Can say is I think back to, my days in that locker room and how much could you imagine a hard knocks of our team but Buddy Ryan is a head coach of what. That would have been the personalities on display in that one I I can completely understand why the coaches would hate it but as I said some players gravitate toward it and I think it's fantastic to bring, the, fans down inside look the two teams that I've always said I wanted to have on hard knocks in, that situation or have social media around four your eagles teams in the nineties and the Cowboys teams in the nineties k. you. Imagine those two teams on Hari knock one other team Go back to the eighty five bears Yeah, that that would be through the roof but it is that fine line because what I think what social media has really done good and bad for for sports. Is, brought, brought fans behind the curtains yeah I I, think everything we've seen the NFL do whether it's the way they enhanced the draft or the way they have, opening night at the Super Bowl now or the way they hold TV shows to, talk about the Super Bowl city selection what they what the NFL and other leagues are getting on this now has done a really good job is if you, peel back the curtain a little bit people feel like. They're, seeing, something for the first time well I it's one thing that I was told when I started calling games into one thing I tried to pass. Down to, Mike is he calls games I, said take people down onto the field take them where they. Can't go take them in, the huddle take them on, the line take them on the field take them in the. Locker room and give them that. Experience stadiums are starting to do that try and give you that that overall football experience Thank you just have to try and bring the fan in as, much as you can because people are used to that access in every other avenue of their life and as we've seen entertainment has been the only demand and, all these avenues you're less inclined to have people just. Because, it's, football just because it's the Yankees just because Notre Dame by note they need some hook and the hook here is all of a sudden wow. I can, see these guys in a way, that's not being offered everywhere in that and finding ways to. Q. fans into that from, individual team basis let alone, the league basis is we're all continues to trend yeah it. It really is and the thing. That's interesting there is there is the the the The, product of football and then there's the. Product of, the television program and I think that those things have become married very closely, together through this process by the way this our goal lingo is brought to you by Makita into tweets booking dot com and win at business and by the way we are winning today because excuse. Me we're here at the Northern Trust. At Ridgewood country club in Paramus New Jersey the first stop on. The PJ towards Fetig playoff run the first of four and.
