"All right for a piece by Susan page out of USA. Today this has the Democratic National Convention Kicks Off. Tonight. So what is a political convention four precisely when it falls into the midst of a pandemic? Well for Joe Biden Kamala Harris still the biggest opportunity they will have for election day to introduce themselves though I think when it goes to Joe Biden less said the better. I mean the gaff my sir has been hard at work. No disrespect but I mean come on seriously you're asking an interviewer of he was junkie because you're ticked off because the interviewer asked you. About your mental fitness and whether you should be tested for same as you're going to hold the most powerful seat perhaps. If you believe the polling. In the land got to tell you yesterday and Loveland was. Incredible as I'm driving let's see eastbound on Eisenhower I'm over in West loveland and I see just this multitude of cheering crowds and flags waving a show of patriotism say it isn't so and trucks that were decorated and Happy People Holding signs saying trump twenty twenty. How powerful is the silent majority. And will they make a difference in this election? And could that be the reason that I'm sorry. The DNC in the mainstream media are hand in glove. I mean I kind of draw the comparison correctly incorrectly between the relationship between the world, Health Organization and China. I mean who's zoom and whom? When it comes to the DNC the DNC and the mainstream media, it's kind of fun isn't it? As you flip through the channels as I'm prone to do being the one that I am I like to get coverage? I tried triangulate every single story for its veracity and its authenticity. But I love watching the majors when it comes to well the leaning media whatever happened to impartial biased reporting. Walter cronkite or was that always an illusion and it's just becoming more prevalent today but it's though there emailed every single morning their email, this litany of talking points and you hear the same words maybe in a little bit different order. But you hear the exact same words coming out of their mouths. Don't you find that a little bit suspect? I do. Meanwhile. Back to the Democratic National Convention that kicks off tonight. The debates in the fall opined Susan page who has sates day three presidential I can't wait for those over those are going to be a ton of fun. Don't you think three? And Will Joe Biden find a way to weasel out of those debates Three presidential one vice presidential. Might even have more impact as well. They should. But we'll be under the control of others. Will you bet you're busy on that one and on stages shared with their opponents? Of course, this year's convention looms especially large because, well, primary season cut short by the onset of cove nineteen on both sides of the equation former vice president biden became the presumptive. Nominee without those. final. Pitched battles and all of the. rabble-rousing and all of the pro coaching that goes along with it triumph triumph victory celebrations. The typically defined candidates hone a campaign operation and provide momentum into the general election and is momentum and lack of enthusiasm now Democrats. Once again as I referenced this morning, very, very, very good. At putting aside their differences. And circling their wagons. Around. The presumptive presidential nominee Joe Biden, Slam Dunk I. Don't even know why we're saying presumptive. Republicans on the other hand though they stay in their their respective, a circular firing squad mentality well. Do what they do. Best I suppose William. How is a University of CHICAGO POLITICAL SCIENTISTS CO author of presidents populism and the crisis of democracy publish this month he said the drama, the primary season just fizzled out. This as a result of course. Of covid nineteen host of other factors. But It does mark the transition to the general election. Now Biden's nomination won't be challenged this week I mean that's a done deal. We all know that. But at an unprecedented virtual digital convention. There's still some things the presidential candidate needs to do. I can't help but think that The.

"So it's always a good time to listen to some yellow and to get a preview. Hey, Clark Gail how're you doing this morning? I am doing great I'll fired up this morning. oops. That is that's that's one of those songs the yellow concert that always gets the off. Cantwell. Now. It's the phone everybody holds up their phone, of course. I. It was really funny because I was sitting here listening to it and I was waving my hand. And it just puts you in this like peaceful calm place. I don't know if it does for everybody, but it certainly does for us. That's one of my great places to go. The other one is broadcasting sports baby and it's coming up. We had a great golf tournament last weekend eaten invitational. That was awesome. It was great and we're going to continue to degrade stuff like that for our our listening audience out there and tonight no difference five o'clock, we will go back to thirteen days thirteen teams Berthod Spartans, softball highlight coverage will get a coach Buddy coons in his sixth year. This is a great program winning program that I went back ten years couldn't find a losing season except last year. So they have to bump over that but they were a young team last year and. They've already got a win under their belts, Gail. So fifteen nothing win over ny watt. Win, they got a good one in the cool thing was looking at the box score. They've got a freshman in there have to figure out how to pronounce her name. That's the tough one. Bush got a freshman in there that had a home run two doubles and six runs batted in in that opening game. That's a freshman. So these are great signs for for a young team. That's a I'm sure we'll get back on the winning track this year. Tell us a little bit about Ni-, watch because boy they got their clocks cleaned. Yeah. What is probably? As I look at this the probably a team that's down I mean. So you can't gain a whole bunch from that. I think if you're the SPARTANS, you look at the the conference and The, spartans have to deal with North Ridge and Roosevelt Mountain. View Thompson Valley some very good some very good team. So what they're also coming out of the Tri Valley they. I think it's a little easier conference this year with the new alignment for them but they It'll be fun to see what they do as they get going, get northridge next and then Roosevelt's. So we'll know a pretty quick. How good this sparked softball is very cold thirteen days thirteen teams, training camp coverage, our softball addition this asa, it's berthod. Wednesday now, our overall sponsor thirteen days, thirteen teams PDC energy tonight sponsor is we celebrate the birth. Spartans Day is northern Colorado Credit Union. Yeah. We thank both of those fine companies for their support. NC You northern Colorado Credit Union. Great. They've got office in Greeley and in Berthod as well. and just continue to do great things in our community always giving back eighty five acts of kindness that they're doing throughout the year. So I'm all kinds of good stuff. There are PD energy boy can you not? You can never say enough about what they do. If you look around at most of the schools, most of the community events, you'll see PDC right in the mix. So as we always say powered by. Energy it is prepped radio and KFI. And again, I wanted to give Kudos to. It's Kevin Lytle with the Colorado enter hope I'm saying his name. You Clark, a Brady, Hall Tanner swint I mean just tearing it up with that Gulf coverage because it was comforting. It was it was reminiscent of something quasi-normal even though that was the first time event for us here at thirteen ten. KFI. But it was it was wonderful. You guys did a great job. Yeah. Thank you gail just having Having a live sports on the air was great and then you're right Kevin and tanner did such a great job in the field that they were out at the different holes and We've got great great return on that. So it's as far as what folks thought about it. So we're looking at a tournament next weekend as a matter of fact here in town, and then also the regionals which will be at. Boomerang in September. So our foray into golf may continue her well that sounds like a plan Clark. Johnson. The Voice of preps radio bringing you thirteen days thirteen teams. Tonight's again we focus on the BERTHOD spartans and Clark in so much as always it's always great just chatting about all this and just love how our entire sports team has just been. So resilient go hey, let's carry some golf. What do you say? South Right. then. We can get our hands on that that people are GonNa like and sponsors are going to respond to, and that's the way it was here. So yeah, we're very happy about that tomorrow get Tanner. Schwinn, here in the morning, you'll have loveland highlighted tomorrow but tonight as you said, Berthod spartans softball can't wait..

"What we've always done we've always been kind of above the standard I I I like standards so I can always go beyond the that's kind of A. Young Man by my dad that you know don't don't don't don't be the bar, raise the bar and so We've we've Kinda always done that even with infection control with surgeries here, and so safety has always been our priority because I get my dental work here, my partner Dr Done and he does my dental work. So I'm a I'm a patient here to. and so I WANNA, make sure that you know everything is up to standard for what you why would want done on me, and so we've done that from the very beginning even before Kobe before stuff because we have always wanted our patients to feel safe and realize that we've done that always the highest standard not only to protect ourselves to protect our patients. To Portland not everybody tells you the truth of what they have or don't have, and that's why we call them universal precautions and all that means is university we we treat everybody as though they have something and so this way we're we're never never caught off guard and it's never a surprise soaking. Okay. They had something no big deal we're covered and we go about our business and make sure they're getting the best possible here that we can provide. Universal precautions not to be confused with universal healthcare noon in very different things. Don't even go there no no, no, they're. They're they're they're they're trying the as a very nice job by back and then it'll be it'll be tough because like I said with with with you know universal healthcare, you're going to get your general drill and fill counter. But if you need anything advanced implants, any sort of reconstruction even in the countries that have socialized medicine that's not covered. So it still is a the kind of a cash business and. And I think that's Kinda getting daily. WHO's way of of trying to you know start making because they've been chipping away dentistry for a while now but the dentist strong where resilience we we survived the Kobe shutdown and We're we're coming back pretty strong because. No matter what no matter what problem you have everyone's going to have a toothache or problem some point how we are we are the necessary evil as they say. Because you don't want last thing you want is a toothache because what people are not understanding and what are you trying to change our focus is healthcare prevention. The best way to prevent any any virus eighty disease is already being good health whether that's a good diet, senior regular doctor getting your regular checkups, regular Tajan but also including your dental hygiene regular visits because there are no because there are. So I call him silent killers. There are those two things that never never caused any pain. They're they're massive sections and the basically I just don't feel good analysts and we do xrays or a ct and we and we find this mass and section, and we get that under control within a day or two, and I'm like, oh my gosh, I feel so much better. I didn't realize how much this is affecting my health and they didn't because it doesn't cause a whole lot of pain. Their body just doesn't feel good. So that's why those routine dental are so important the extra. And dentist getting their hands on the patient feeling getting to know them is it. It should be number one priority for any dentist and I'm pretty sure it is most Dennis US chipping away the profession I see what you did there. That I did I did I like that a lot? Of Buddy Benson of integrated dental,.

"Of mornings with Gail, Dr Buddy Benson of integrated dental in Greeley Dr Benson welcome back to the show. This morning I'm doing great all fired up no shortage there. Yeah. Exactly. No shortage of things to be all fired up about but I'm like I'm. Not, during these times. Exactly. All right. So let's let's get your take on this warning from the World Health Organization. A lot of kind of laughed it off as I really. That's that's where you're going with other. That's all we were so worried about the the this virus killing everyone that we're going to go after the poor dentist. A lot of us honestly lasted off I mean even if you look at the as response of. We disagree we really don't understand what they're talking about. There's no. There's no studies I in America. There's not been a single, not one single case of covid that was traced back to a dental procedure. That imaginary. Dearth of scientific information that doesn't stop them. No, that's that's political opinion and it's and it's it's popular right now because on my just in my opinion I think it pushes the social medicine aspect because dentistry is one of the few areas of healthcare even in areas with socialized medicine and Glenn or Canada for advanced dental procedures, their basic does not. Not Cover it. Well here's here's the irony of that entire equation because we're talking about the. Organization again, water carriers China in this whole pandemic. You've got to remember I won't say in many areas around the world, but in some areas around the world. Well, thanks in part to socialized medicine the preferred mode of dentistry is with It kinda reminds me of Tom Hanks it's with a sledgehammer, a screwdriver and pliers. There there's there's so much misinformation in those countries because of socialized medicine, not really enforcing that health starts really with your teeth and and medical doctors the United States, really come around in the last ten to fifteen years and over we're GonNa do knee replacement. Any sort of joint replacements routine, cardiovascular care. You've got it. We have to get clearance from the dentist that they're all health is in good shape because they're realizing that all the. Work they do can be undone by oral health, and so we're now partners in medicine. It's almost becoming from dentistry into oral medicine and I think a lot of the world socialize medicine is still keeping that separate as well. They're just a dentist now, not not anymore There's too much that Dennis. No, there's too much that we have to coordinate with our medical doctor colleagues that we're becoming oral physicians that Dan just you know two jockeys. So. Two jockeys. Ask you to because I had a conversation just this past weekend with my Stepson Brian and he was having some issues when it came to his teeth and so he scheduled a telemedicine appointment now that led to A. Doctor's appointment at Dennis Perman. But how effective is telemedicine when it comes to dentistry? Because my understanding is my experiences been, it's always up close and personal. Yeah the I think it's still one of the few things I mean you can only do so much by looking at person we do everything with Radio Graphics we have to have our hands on the patient. Does it hurt here? Does it hurt their We have a lot of pain that can come from somewhere else and so the site of the pain is always not necessarily the source of the pain. So I just to be able to just do them every T- every telemedicine and I've done them just to try just To See. If it worked they're very good for follow ups I have an issue that. So a lot of our geriatric patients are maybe some homebound patients If we've done a procedure and it's maybe just a traditional follow up, we can do that. How's everything feeling anything hurt anything more I can do from you but it's more of just kind of a question and answer or a situation I said where they can't get out of the House and it just makes it easier so that with that's how we've kind of integrated. Telemedicine is more with the post operative visits prevent anything from them to come back in, but I didn't really have anything to do with the virus and more or less to do with their their situation. They couldn't get out of bed Heck I even made a house call during the Kobe for gentlemen. He has dentures broke he was bedridden I. Fixed his inches. So I mean you try and just you do what you gotta do. But Dentistry is very much shows very much hands on I. Know they're gonNA try push telemedicine but I think if they do you're going to see a lot of misdiagnosis. Dr Betty Benson with integrated dental in Greeley great sponsor of mornings with Gail. All right. So let's talk a little bit about because you know unfortunately when you do have dental problems that is kind of the gateway to potentially other medical problems as. And you touched on the fact that during particularly in the early months of Covid nineteen, people weren't going to the doctor. They weren't going to the dentist which could lead to medical problems maybe serious on down the line. So let's talk a little bit about what integrated dental doing to assure our long term safety of A. Long term safety not only of your staff and to your your fellow positions there. But your pillow Dana's. But indeed of those of us who say, yeah, I gotta do something about.

"Lot coming your way. Did you hear the World Health Organization once again trying to pick winners and losers as the economy struggles to reopen the world health? Organization. Coming out and saying that, well, you should delay a dental checkup in areas with community spread of covid nineteen. All right, which begs the question we've heard all of the end of the world projections with all of the modeling best and worst case scenarios but doesn't it stand to reason that as testing becomes more prevalent, we're going to see more cases. Kinda stands to reason right and what? Else have a medical practitioners those who do have some credibility what else they been warning abound during all of the lockdowns in the shutdowns relative to cove nineteen while the fact is many of us not going to the doctor for necessary checkups when it comes to well any number of maladies, ailments including heart disease or perhaps there are signs of cancer maybe have a melon I don't know. Bottom line is many of us not going into get those checkups to our own long-term peril. So now you have the World Health Organization coming out that well, basically. That, you should delay your dental checkup. Here's the thing you've got to remember that dental checkups are so important I, get it root canals not my favorite either but dental checkups are so important because let's say you have some decay let's say you have a cavity. Well, that kind of is a gateway for other things to enter right I mean it's just basic common sense and could lead not only to long-term dental issues but a host of other issues as well and Many businesses dentists among them are struggling to stay open during time of covid nineteen while one of the great sponsors of mornings with Gail? Dr Buddy Benson of integrated that dental arts has managed to do just that I thought. Dr Benson is going to have a little something something to say about all this. Indeed he does and Dr Benson Benson will join us on this proclamation. From the does so August oh so trust where the World Health, organization you know the water carriers for the Chinese. Failed to let the rest of the world know that this novel Corona Virus Was Out and about digress but Dr Body Benson will join us this.

You go all right so tell us what it looked like for you as a dental office through the thick of it through a governor jared polices stay at home order. Which of course has been relax to the safer at home order and then we have The competing guidelines from The Weld County Board of Commissioners The safer at work guidelines which leaves us all a little bit confused. Well we're we're Kinda right there with you So with all of that Just wanted to clear some things up the original reason why Dennis she was. Actually shutdown actually had nothing to do with Contagious factors dentistry. It had to do with the conservation of personal protective equipment and they didn't want dentist. Shah jamming up the supply lines. They wanted all the supplies for the hospitals. So Dentistry was actually never shut down due to it being a danger or a highly infectious Place GET CORONA Have you heard of any place or any dental office that has been linked to corona? No there's no cause there's there hasn't been one because he's always been safe We have been following universal precautions and Osha guidelines for long before the corona virus. So for us. It really hasn't been a whole lot different. We added a couple of things But especially for for surgeons and a dental office. Do a lot of surgery They have a lot of that personal protective equipment that you're going to be found in surgical facility So for us. It wasn't really a huge change so so distant thing and then the you know the people waiting on their cars. It's kind of the difference But for us here personally. It's not for regular dentists. Who are who are not doing a lot of regular surgery. Yeah you're going to see them kind of gowned up a little bit more But honestly most of the things that we're doing really aren't going to change a whole lot We're still going to be able to treat your cavities. We're still going to be able to clean your teeth now. We're probably not GONNA be able to use as much of what's called an aerosol for cleaning the teeth Some people would use. What's called a caveat tron azo that creates a little water mist? And but I still think that's GONNA. That's not going to last very long in. My fish is my opinion The way we're seeing things go And the high suction we already use anyway So people are going in and putting in extra filters or using over the patient H V units are high volume evacuation sections But the those are not required By by the state or the CDC even recommended at this point so you weren't able to remain open because you're great sponsor of the show and certainly do appreciate that Dr Body Benson and integrated dental in Greeley But you were open in case people. Well I'm sorry dental pain. It's right up there with childbirth. You did absolutely no dental pain yet. Didn't stop we opened anywhere between two and three days. A week saw emergencies as needed People with infection to fix broken teeth. That were in pain Pretty much qualified as a dental emergency and most people's cases if and when we of course dentistry Where we were using facetime zooming and anything else but unfortunately dentistry you know you kinda gotta get your hands on the person and you actually have to take x rays and make sure things are Warranted to to to proceed with treatment But no so we. We've actually been opened the whole time. The Corona virus has been has been going Taking the proper precautions again adding up a little extra steps so it may add an extra five to six seven minutes to the visit But for the most part we've been running pretty smooth obviously hygiene racing during that time. Strictly Street Trading a cheeseburger. The governor's order Well one thing if I'm not as a rule follower Even if I disagree with the rules I I play the game according to the rules. So unfortunately yeah. Yeah but the rules keep changing. It's that they do and they're changing for us. I mean a lot of my colleagues are very are very confused because They actually did make a mistake. In one of the rigs literally and That was on Friday and on Monday. They realized that they made cmih Sunday. They realize they made the A A mistake in the regulations and they said well we'll issue a change in the next couple days what. It doesn't really help us. 'cause according to the rigs this says this but you really meant this. It's really confusing for everybody. But what I don't want it to be is confusing for the patients and people out there who who aren't in the medical field. I mean if you're not in the medical field you really honestly should worry about it. Don't worry about it We we are taking every precaution out there That can be taken. We are following the guidelines. Pretty much to the letter of the law to keep everyone safe and we always have Going back to the bay and again my career because they're actually taught to do that and dental On how to handle proper infectious control because we handle universal precautions Which means we treat everybody as though they are infected. That's universal precautions. Means and so by doing that again and we didn't really worry about Aerosol because we have such high volume suction and the cleaning materials that we use are really poked. And so when you come into a dental office or particularly mind. It is extremely clean. The the cleaning materials kill within a matter of seconds. Sometimes sometimes a minute We have a state of the art sterilization system And we go a little bit above and beyond because I get to work here Doug. My partner does Oregon so my wife and my kids. My friends get down to work down here so You know I wanNA make sure that. I'm not just for everybody but for everybody that everything is not only just up to par but above par about integrated dental Dr Benson. It doesn't smell like a dentist office. Not saying that's necessarily a bad thing. No no we're keeping it that way. We are keeping the the The the windows open and we are keeping the the candles burn and sense. He's going so that's not smell any like Dennis. I never smell like my dad was a dentist and I always remember him coming home so like a dental office but no we do not have that here. That is absolutely one of the. I don't want you thinking that when you come in bad memories and I only want. You haven't happy memories while you're here. Yeah those sense memories are very very using. Yeah but thanks very confusing. But we've got we've got protocols My team is amazing And hopefully it wouldn't if you call in we're GonNa make you feel comfortable And not make you feel like you should be worried because again I promise you we're cleaner than a grocery store you're going to go. I would certainly hope so Dr Betty Benson Integrated Dental in Greeley..

"At times. When people complained about how stringent the orders were here in Colorado now they actually were rather well balanced and then other than you know. We can debate essential and non essential. But that's going to be a debate. You're going to have in that situation no matter what the point of the matter is is that we all have long rights but that means that we have to manage those rights with the fact that other people have rights as well and we all responsible. And this isn't just about you and your right. This is also about my right to be able to live exactly. And where those two intersect? Well my rights end where your rights begin. And we're talking about a very contagious nasty. Little Corona virus here and unfortunately too many people don't pay attention to beyond their own rights. They they don't seem to have that same viewpoint on about someone else's rights going forward. Yeah we get into the Self absorbed it's all about me Kadri some day on yes and rudy agrees once again. "Be biggest part about this. Is that for the general public? The uncertainty is huge. It's part of what plays into the reason why everybody was wanting to get out from under stay at home orders because the fact of the matter is is that the more uncertainty. That's in place especially when you're not out in the public when you're not on taking being able to take care of what's normal to you that uncertainty just adds to the mental strain and stress on everybody Absolutely beyond a shadow of a doubt but back to your point about businesses. I can't help but think at some point and I know that you and I have had this conversation on any number of levels but at some point we need to take personal responsibility whether we're just the general public out there walking around and many people are but it's amazing the number of people that don't even now they seem to be just like totally unaware that yeah. There's a pandemic going on but at some point we do need to be responsible for ourselves and our actions and as far as businesses go. I don't pick it bodes very well for the future of business. If their employees are sick and eh their customers get sick as well. It seems to me that would the high road there you would think they would. But let's be perfectly honest as an example of.

"Face issues on it. There's nothing to at that specifically states that they are forced to be. Open the other aspect of this. That has been discussed. Was that that by forcing them to be opened through the APA. It would be a matter of Also forcing employees to work potentially while sick. There's also nothing in that order that deals with the liability the plants which was something that was being discussed Yesterday is that they that under the EPA executive order that would be protections for businesses. Going forward the plant owners only four. None of that is really in place on as of yet. It's more just a a best way to put it. I guess would be that. It's more just a promotional piece but out by the White House and I can't help it. The put these two pieces together because I was watching something. Yesterday they were talking about nursing homes of course nursing homes long term care facilities The epicenter of sadly the mortality associated with cove in nineteen across the country now. They're seeking immunity from civil action as well. Then also the move to the next door then stimulus on this past if the Capital to flip such liability measures in place for businesses. All around and they'd be able to help them reopen without reliability of anybody. He's suing them because their employees got sick. This is going to be a legal morass that we are getting into if you start giving businesses than the wide open latitude to be running.

"The real power that maybe we all thought that it did to be able to put an end to a business trying to take advantage of what. Weld County is doing with the safer at work policies and in the process that puts a lot of Onus on the business owner to make sure that they've got everything in place and are running correctly or they set themselves up for something that is in this case Missed out like not even a misstep as it pertains to the corona virus. How just right? It's just so strange. How many twists and turns we keep taking on these stories. It's it's just I mean. It's so confusing. When you take a look at it and I had worked for peace earlier this morning talking about what you just referenced that state regulators in taking a look at those businesses. That did reopen before governor jared police's safer at guidelines safer home guidelines recommended. Basically they're just imploring business owners not to do it. It's more of a Pretty pleased campaign and that extends of course to consumers as well the public. Yeah exactly and that also plays out in the fact that there was reporting last night on nine news that the threat of falling emergency preparedness at least in terms of being tied to Corona Virus. A no-go because welcoming already received from Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Two hundred thousand dollars in fresh ones. Yeah Yeah Yeah it's just I. Can we stop this bill.

"Barber shop for at least a couple of days this before it was issued a cease and desist order Just yesterday but not for the reasons that you might expect no of course The owner of the barber shop in Greeley Kind of put himself in the national spotlight but also under the microscope in terms of well. The governor's office state regulators Digging around of course he was following. The owner of the barbershop was following the weld. "Well time of covered. Nineteen were all incorporating new ways to accomplish things that we need to get done. And you're doing it admirably as is the East Colorado. Spdc taking care of business integrating well once again this creative ways season technology to continue to serve you Through this very disruptive time joined this morning by Lisa Hudson Lease. I gave you a promotion this morning. Call J. Executive Director Director of the East Colorado as BBC. Thanks so much for taking the time. Thanks for all that you are doing To continue to provide support. And how are you doing? You know I'm doing well. We are just Staying extremely busy helping me. Small businesses at just. How how? They're serving their customers. I mean with with all these policies put out They're having creative on on how to find their customers and and get to their customers and we're doing the same at at east co- UNC shutdown. Well didn't shut down but closed campus and so my team is working from their home. Offices were Connecting with our clients via telephone and a Google hangout then I think it's going pretty well that way. It's the new normal to be sure so Let's drill that down a little bit. I know thank you for sending me this email this morning. Talking about This guide that was just released today for small businesses dealing with cove. Yeah so The Colorado Small Business Development Center network as created this guide which you can find on the Colorado SPDC Dot Org website and It just goes through steps that you can consider as a small business owner to you. Know Recreate Revenue Lions. And and what you can do to support your employees if you have to let them go and and what it means to have a job attached unemployment birth you know Keeping them on You know regularly or maybe maybe considering letting them go entirely. It's just a different time it. We're in something that we've never really faced before I mean east co- SPDC We. We helped a lot of small businesses during the flood of two thousand thirteen. And that was our for my first run at helping. Small businesses deal with the disaster. But this is different It's not a physical disaster where you know. We've got physical damage to the businesses but it very much the same a disaster potentially an economic disaster as we sort through everything that Well it's just going down. As a result of all the changes that we have to incorporate into our everyday lives. What is the most common question that you are hearing from small businesses? What the heck is going on? What can we go back to work? And and you know. Is there a grant available That that's the biggest question that we're getting as right now. The State of Colorado and. Sba have not released any grants Right now there's only the SBA loan program in Colorado's been activated for that and small businesses can most definitely apply The the only downside And I'm I'm going to be very frank about this is if you apply And I'm still waiting to get confirmation on if you have what you have applied for what you have accepted for the loan that can affect How much you could get if a grant become available later all right Worked at through for US so Back in thirteen with the floods if you had applied for an SBA loan and when the grant came out later you were only able to receive dollars Needed minus the amount. You're approved for for the loan. All right GASCON thirteen. It might be different this time around. I I don't have an answer yet. I've sent it up the ladder and I'm just waiting for that response. Hopefully we'll get that this week but yeah if you And again I'm not sure if it's how much you apply for how much you get accepted for for the loan that could affect how much you're getting from the grant So soon as we get that information we will send that out and people can sign up for our newsletter where we're sending out the latest information at Bit Dot L. Y. Slash East co- Updates and That's where we're posting it and then the the car. Spdc network as a whole is Regularly updating their website Several Times throughout the day Colorado. Spdc DOT Org Slash Cova and. That's where you can find the most up-to-date information Lisa Hudson Director East Colorado SPDC. I wanted to reflect on something that you said earlier. Talking about the differences between for example. how you had to marshal resources and basically fast-track support to businesses during the the floods of thirteen. And you mentioned that this Kobe. Nineteen obviously not a physical disaster as it is an unseen invisible enemy. But I can't help but think that your experiences in supporting small business During the floods of thirteen kind of provided a template. For what you're doing now absolutely I mean you know back then we. We had to help small businesses. Identify the impact that the floods it had and what kind of revenue they had lost because of the flood. Or we're doing the same thing with this. I mean what kind of revenue are these small businesses losing because you know they either have to shutdown they. They have to limit their services or products. And there's just not as much traffic going to small businesses right now. Any business besides grocery stores So it's it is very much the same kind of Preparation that that we're helping me. Small businesses do and. We're trying to help them. Collect documentation of of what kind of lost they're experiencing so later You know when maybe more resources are available. They're ready. They're ready for that application. See that's just a one of the many many services that you provide because at this point I mean we are so off balanced. It's unprecedented what we're seeing across the country around the world that we don't even know what we don't know exactly and I mean we you know we're not just pushing clients to apply for the SPA loan you know. We're we're helping a lot of clients with strategy you know how to create a cohesive Digital brand now that you have to go online. How how do you start selling your products online when you were just a storefront and prioritizing your finances so know these businesses have got death lined up to their door and what can you pay. I can you lower payments on other things you know having that conversation with your your landlord saying okay. Hey you know this is my situation what can we do? Let's negotiate and and talk to your banker. I mean that that is a huge thing that I encourage my small business clients to do is have that open conversation with your banker and and let them help you You know a lot of SBA loans that are current right now are getting deferred because of Cova did and If you already had a disaster loan from back in two thousand thirteen that's Getting automatically deferred. You just have to have Definitely and No one better to have those conversations with and with the Lisa Hudson. Excuse me on her colleagues at the East Colorado as speedy see up and running just in a well a little bit more distant form so tell us once again before I let you go certainly do appreciate your time. Certainly appreciate all of your efforts as you're a real lifeline for small businesses. How do we get in touch with you? Go to our website East Colorado. Spdc DOT COM and connect with US online. If YOU'RE A new client sign up for consulting there if you're a returning client request to follow up or you know just connect with your consultant at their first name at East Colorado S BBC Dot com or feel free to email at our info at East Colorado FBDC DOT com lease Hudson director. He's Colorado. Spdc thank you so much. Take Care and be well thanks you too bye bye bye. Forty-seven thirteen ten. Kfi Gay Thirteen. Ten KFI AM preps. "Dr Benson. Welcome on in morning. Gail how're you doing this morning? I am doing well I am doing well and I hope you and your family and your staff and colleagues are doing well as well so far stay in. Saint. That's good that's good all right. Let's talk a little bit about the importance of maintaining overall oral health because it impacts so many things I mean your immune system your overall health absolutely and especially during this time right now. What we're finding just some studies. I've read Is that this. This little bugger. I mean he's he's contagious. No there are a lot of people getting it. there have been some You know misinformation out there that it only really affects people over sixty five and that's that's not true pretty much over thirty you're you you can get the guy and it can be a bad day for you. So what we are. Finding though is that there are underlying health issues that it's really exploiting and so trying to make sure that your immune system is in tiptop shape is the best way to combat this guy and and your all your oral health is pretty much A key component. And doing that. Oh absolutely So again there is some confusion. Well yes I am the mistress of understatement here but we see our lives have changed on just about every single level but you had the governor's saying okay. No non essential medical procedures. Define that for us. Oh I wish I could. But but he he he exactly is extremely vague. And the order is extremely vague. the ADA put out guidelines specifically for Dentistry Also talked with a good friend of mine is dermatologist and What is considered essential pretty much for for like say dermatology if you're under current treatment for melanoma. But but they're not going to really be diagnosing any new cases. And unless you're you feel like you're symptomatic or you need to get to go in. And You KINDA gotta be your own advocate and and a lot of a lot of these cases But the FDA has come out with a set of guidelines It's very it's much easier for people to go the ADA but the basic premise is that if you are having any kind of symptomatic tooth pain if you see something that looks like an abscess If something just doesn't feel right you still need to go see your dentist And and and and some Dennis out there They're they're they are seeing patients. I I have friends that have just completely closed up. And they're referring straight to specialists So the ended onyx which the canal specialist. Those guys are still Roy Rowland strong. Ada has come out and said that all root canal procedures that are Har- symptomatic are considered urgent or or an emergent situation which means they cannot wait less than three months so my ended on colleagues are still rolling strong And there are still plenty of rookie house out there to be had so so they're doing okay. Oh Joy your credits root canal. Nothing could kill the root canal. Exactly now to be more. Precise integrated dental in Greeley is open for business right. Absolutely we are open. We are following. The governor's law as as as as written and we are open for a courtesy procedures. All Nice unfortunately all those people that you know that that we spent a long time telling them how important their dental cleaning is it is but unfortunately because of the Aerosol does Create and dentists are not required to wear a In Ninety five respirator style. Matthew never have been It's just it's just creates too much danger to many people that could be affected. And as I say in the south of juices not worth the squeeze on that one Well Yeah yes we are. Yes we are seeing seeing open. We are open for virgin paces again if perceptive medical and we're also using technology we're using facetime when you're using online meetings I had I had a lovely young eighty nine year. Old Lady yesterday ran And she has severe tooth pain. We got her taken care of and I am doing her post. Op The teleconference. Because I don't want to come back into my office and So so we're able to use technology now to really help out our patients and then we can set that up again through our face time or through an online meeting That reusing called Zoom. Yeah the tech- technology has really been a godsend. Hasn't it absolutely so and and that's where everybody do. Call our office. If they have a question we can then set up a facetime. We're Starting next week we're in their Tuesday Wednesday and Fridays And we can even set up Drucker through my cell phone soon. If I'm not there my staff can get me Their number and I can directly look at them and say yeah. This is something that you need in the dental office and we need to get this. Take it out because it may cost you more or may impact you more three months when maybe there's order and everything is finally getting back to normal And we still want to make sure that things are taking care of. Oral health is still being taken care of. 'cause WE DON'T WANT TO COMPROMISE IMMUNE SYSTEM. We want people to be at their tiptop shape taking the vitamin C taking newseek. Just taking their multivitamins keeping their immune system is tipped off as they possibly can and that includes dental health because there are a lot of undiagnosed infections out there And the bodies wasting resources by that one is able to be able to find something that's true so let's say that you are having a toothache or your gums are bleeding. You're not able to sleep. You've got the hunt sensations in your gums. Whatever the case may be but Your little bit concerned and let's say you do take advantage of technology and You say you need to come into my office because this needs to be Taken care of two sweet. How of your protocols and your practice changed we've always Bided by all standards. As matter of fact we've always gone above and beyond just got Our our recent accreditation through show us an independent service to make sure that we are staying above board and all of our areas But during this time we're even doing even more. All of our girls are using constant protective pair of protective equipment while they're in where cleaning consistently after every patient comes in not only in the outdoors. Which do anyway but even on the outside doors the waiting room. We're only allowing one patient in at a time No other patients or their counterparts if they if they they're young person and their mom brought them. There were allowing one parent in only if if they're white brought up. The wife has to stay in the car. The person has to just come in by themselves. And just keeping that that human contact down to minimum. So that's why we don't have multiple patients In our office at a time so we are staggering. Everybody to be able to so when you come in. You're pretty it looks kind of like it goes down. But that's because we're making it that way you're the only one in there where the one year concentrating on and then we'd take you out actually a separate or if we need just someone else came in this way you can avoid that. Six foot contact Again just trying to do our best trying to do our part To keep people safe but at the same time Still taking care of those emergencies that need to be taken care of Dr Buddy Benson integrated dental in Greeley all right so give us everything that we need to know how we get in touch with you at this point. He's definitely call our office area code nine seven zero three five one seven one five three nine seven zero three five one seven one five three. You can also go to our facebook page social media. There's a lot of stuff going on social media. I post videos all the time and try and stay to face to face contact with patients or anybody. That's just curious out there I got a lot of friends who are in very high places that are lot more smart than I am and I am just like just like I want my patients. Listen to me I listen to other people as well and so I just. I just relay that information. I'm not making anything up. It's not my job My job is to relay the information that we know at this time and this is the most today current information that we have and we keep that information updated As well as on our social media thank you Dr Benson to you your staff your colleagues For remaining on the front lines because I think well you would know better than most when it comes to dental pain. That's something that you don't want to deal with but not the pain. The pain is indicative of a well. Things that aren't right things that need to be taken care of especially now as we want to keep those immune system strong to combat against Kobe. Nineteen you bet. Scale and one one small. A lot of people don't know. Is that pain actually reduces the immune system so people saying oh. I thought I fought through the pain. It's actually smart. Pain actually reduces the immune system. We need to get the patients out of pain so their body can get back to fighting and get back to being ready and being on the front lines himself Dr Benson Integrated Dental in Greeley great sponsor of mornings with Gail.
