"Of course she packed his long been known as the Super Bowl for conservatives and what happens here is going to have an impact nationwide literally thousands of people from all over America are here for three days of great speeches, workshops, and really to come out energized and revved up for 2024. 8 four four 747 88 68 is our toll for each telephone number that's 8 four four 747 88 68. Now one of the big, big issues. That that has been discussed here in here at cpac has been crying. And this has been an issue facing just about every city, every community across the nation, as these district attorneys. That were funded by George Soros are literally letting criminals out of jail. Now there was an effort in Atlanta and the Atlanta suburbs of Buckhead to secede from the city. Buckhead is a very wealthy area of Atlanta and the citizens there have been hit especially hard with crime and with criminals. And their argument is that while they're paying perhaps the most the most taxes in the entire city, they're getting the least city services. So the good people of Buckhead decided we are going to petition the state House to secede from Atlanta. Now you would think this would not be a problem, especially since Georgia is controlled by Republicans. But word coming out now, that governor Brian Kemp is going to stand in the way of whatever secession effort comes up. This is the headline from Fox News, Georgia governor Kemp deals blow to Buckhead suburb, trying to secede from Atlanta over violent crime. And the story goes on to outline how the governor's cohorts in the state House are trying to stop this from happening. Now, they're supposed to be voting today in the state legislature on this. But there is a big, big problem, and the problem is coming from the governor's office. And I'm curious to know, ladies and gentlemen, especially those of you who are listening to us in Georgia and we have a lot of listeners in the Atlanta area. Should the people of Buckhead or for that matter should any suburban city that is not being protected from the criminals, should they be allowed to secede from their cities? And that kind of an issue has been talked about all over the country and California. You look at what's happening in Idaho and Washington state right now, Oregon, even in Memphis, Tennessee, where people have already started talking about a plan to possibly secede from Memphis, so you've got all these suburban towns and communities that are wanting to pull out and form their own county. And the same argument can be heard in every single one of these communities. They're paying their taxes, they're paying their fair share. And yet the reality is, they're not getting the same city services, the other parts of the cities are getting. So is that the right approach here? 8 four four 747 88 68 toll free telephone number that's 8 four four 747 88 68. Very disappointing that Brian Kemp is not bending over backwards to accommodate to take care of the good people of Buckhead, Georgia. But this is where we are right now. And it's appalling when you think about it that you've got all these Republicans out there and we talked about this on the main stage earlier. The problem is that you don't have enough true conservatives within the Republican Party. Go back to what happened when Kevin McCarthy was waging that fierce battle to become the next Speaker of the House. Only 20 Republicans, only 20 conservatives, had the courage to stand up and push back against the establishment. So the cold hard reality here, folks, is we need more true conservatives on Capitol Hill. And I hope that's really one of the messages coming out of this gathering is that we've got to start doing our homework. When you're going to run for office, you, your whole life, your political life, your ideologies, your beliefs everything, everything is on the table. And should be investigated. But this is where we are, we are where we are right now because we haven't been able to do that..

The Garden Question
"buckhead" Discussed on The Garden Question
"And that's actually what I do with every garden I design is starting in winter. Both with what the perennials will look like and which of those perennials look really beautiful in winter when you leave them standing or if they have evergreen foliage in winter and also with a structural component. And neutrino movement gardens and in this one, you often see clipped evergreens or topiary structural plants in the background. I've done that here as well with different plants, different hedges, topiary sculpted forms because when you're planning sweeps and waves of perennials, having that clipped evergreen mixed in with that or as a backdrop gives it some structure and helps it from looking like a weedy mess, especially when we're trying to encourage people to do more with natives. We don't want them to think that those gardens look like a weedy mask. Having seed heads and things that look dead, for example, or beige or brown in the winter. I'm having a clipped evergreen hedge that looks very intentional in the background, helps sell that point that this is the style. This is a different beauty that we're trying to teach people to appreciate. What plants look like on their own when they're not tidied up. Planted this garden under trees too. We did. So we have a very full campus. Our tree Canopy covers most of our 33 acres. We just have little spots here and there where we have full sun. I was another reason why I wanted to do this style of garden. To increase our living collections with plants, perennials specifically that needed full sun because I had the space in just a few areas. Also because a lot of those full sunflower plants can feed our pollinators. The shade, we have a lot of habitat but less of the flowering plants. I do have the remnants of the forest that was up here in Buckhead. There's been a lot of development in bobcat, but we are passionate about saving our trees, have big oaks and pines, ironwood, hickories, beech trees, all through the entrance gardens. We preserve this and we do a lot of work to make sure that their root zones are protected as we're going about doing our planting. Especially when we built the tree table up front, we did a lot of work to protect our existing trees while we put this 60 foot long table underneath them. Didn't plant immediately underneath them in that whole space. So we wouldn't be perforating the root zone throughout. Where we have the main bulk of the entrance gardens is right across from the museum. That does face south. So they do get a lot of sun in those long narrow beds. The shade really goes towards the street. So we were lucky there to be able to grab some of that full sun. We have planting beds in our parking lot, which get a lot of sun as well. Get a lot of heat from the parking lot too on those. We really do, and we've been able to play around and experiment with some plants in there that we weren't really sure. What was going to thrive parking lots are harsh environments. They reflect a lot of heat. They absorb a lot of heat. They get walked on. So people are trying to rush to their cars or the school bus. We do have a lot of grasses like steep at ten west sema or Mexican feather grass, that's really tough, loves the heat.

Robyn Pfaffman: The COVID Lockdowns Turned People Violent
"And I know it's not just Memphis, places like Atlanta, where the crime is so bad you had an entire section of the city try to try and secede from the city itself. Yeah, that's true. The Buckhead neighborhood, people were just fed up and they tried to secede from Atlanta. It didn't go down because obviously the city of Atlanta wants the tax revenue from that area. This has happened in places in New Jersey and other places across the country. But you know, you see the whole matter going on with Chicago, New York City, where we both used to live. I mean, it's spiraling, but I think it's a combo platter. You know, it's a gumbo soup of chaos. And it's the fact that there's no punishment for the crimes, right? There's all this enabling of criminals, the criminals are in charge. We've defunded the police, but I really think it's the root of it that the emotional hook of the story Todd as you and I always talk about the emotional hook here is that people have been locked down for over two years with nothing to do. They haven't been in class. They haven't been learning. The kids are behind two to three years in their studies. And they've turned to violence and it's a complete unraveling of a ball of yarn down a hill. It's a snowball effect, and we are in a lot of trouble. And I really blame it on the coronavirus lockdown. I mean, everybody knows a first year scientist knows Todd that you can not vaccinate yourself out of a coronavirus. These viruses spiral down, they do what they do. You can not vaccinate your way out of a coronavirus. It is literally impossible, and yet we lock down an entire society, our entire world, and then the places where they didn't lock down, they have the same results on the back end. So

Buckhead Residents Want to Secede From Atlanta
"The wealthy suburbs that are paying all of the tax base and they're the ones that are funding the police and the fire department, but they're the ones not getting the services. They're not getting the protection of the police department because the police officers are busy taking care of crime elsewhere in the city. And a group of folks in one of the suburbs in a place called Buckhead, which really is a beautiful area of super wealthy. You have Linux bowl, you have some incredibly wealthy shops and Neiman Marcus and those kinds of places. So it's very Tony section of Atlantic. Kind of like maybe and I know our folks in games will Georgia and the north, Georgia suburbs might be able to help us out here with this, but it's almost like the Beverly Hills of Atlanta. So you have a lot of wealthy people, a lot of celebrities, music stars, athletes, and they live in this area. And the folks of Buckhead are saying, you know what? We're done. We are done. We're done with the crime. It's unbelievable how many shootings there have been at Linux mall, which again is a high dollar high end mall. But you have all these people coming in from the city. They're taking the subway and they've got a subway stop right there at the ball, and they come up, they call all sorts of mayhem, start shooting people up and then they get back on the subway and they go back home. And now the people in Buckhead are saying, yo, we're done here. We want to secede from the state or from the city of Atlanta. And we've had the people involved in this campaign, the guy in charge is named Bill white. And their argument is that they need the right to be able to create their own police force and that they're concerned that the defund the police movement has really weakened the Atlanta police department. I mean, it makes

"I think a lot of I think a lot of the, you know, at a certain point, I think we reach a place where, you know, listen, I don't need any more character. Life can take it easy on me now. And so I think I had a lot of the grit again just rural Tennessee and especially rural Tennessee where I was, I mean, I wasn't in the absolute deep, deep, deep, deep, deep Woods, but in the 70s and Tennessee where I was out by Hendersonville and gallatin, not like it is today. There was not a whole lot around. So I had quite a bit of what we would call character building and grid just growing up in a single parent home. By the time I got to Los Angeles, the LA part was just trying to build a career in an exceedingly difficult profession where I didn't have I didn't have any nepotism. I didn't have anything, I didn't show up here with anything on my side for lack of a better phrase. Yeah. Well, national was a totally different city back then in the 70s than it is now. I mean now it's the home and hard of a lot of productions, both movies and radio and television. That was not happening way back then in the same way. Now it's Nash Vegas. First of all, it's the number one bachelorette weekend destination in the south. It's number one, even more so than Atlanta. And number two, I mean, yeah, my mother was a country singer, but there's a very famous train station Alan in Nashville called union station that actually country songs have been written about it. It's beautiful. They refurbished it. When I was in high school, it was boarded up in dilapidated. So yeah, you didn't go past, you didn't go past 20th or 21st street towards first street to downtown. When I was a kid or you were looking for trouble and that would be just past Vanderbilt. So it's a very different city now, yes. Yeah. As I say right now, I mean to Nashville and there are many areas that you would stay out of. I mean, it's a totally grown up city and it's safe. It's prosperous. It's really become uptown. Whereas it used to be a hole to begin with. You are correct. There were distinctly places you did not go. That is correct. And now it is. It's just, it's just blown up in the last 15, 20 years. Unbelievable. Yeah. For sure. So do you remember any stories along the way that you can tell the audience? About that journey? Several of them depends on which ones we can allow on air. No, I think we, when we tend to use the word journey, doctor leica, we, a lot of times, as a country that we're very result oriented and I respectfully understand that certainly as an athlete, your result oriented, taking tests where result oriented, and so when we look at journeys, sometimes we wind up just looking at the end of like, oh my gosh, that person is so and so they've gotten to it doesn't matter what industry it is. And so when I tend to look at some of those years, I tend to look back at some of the moments when I should have looked at myself and gone, what the hell are you doing? And one of the key ones for me would have been what I chose to go to Atlanta for two years. I won an event in New York. And I could have gone to New York, but similarly, New York back then, Manhattan back then is not the Manhattan you see today. I mean, people who have not seen Times Square from a perspective of the early 80s to where it is today, Times Square was a place after one or 2 o'clock in the morning, you would just get killed. And so I had been there and for this event and as a guy who grew up in the rural south and who also was a golfer, I didn't really see myself hanging out in Manhattan trying to haul my sticks on the subway somewhere to go play golf. So I chose Atlanta, but I also went to Atlanta with a very old car, $200 in my pocket, and the only person that knew I was coming was the gal who was to be my agent. So I had to I slept in my car for three days in this abandoned Sears parking lot. That is in really upscale Buckhead at the time. It was just this big abandoned building. And it was kind of downhill and there was behind the building thing and I thought, oh, that seems safe. And I literally slept in my car for three days, and then my agent had a client that was in the catering business. And she had a couple of kids that they had moved out. She was an empty nester. And she was kind of a whack a doodle. She might have been kind of a functioning alcoholic. She was funny. And she didn't live that far down peachtree. And I rented a room from her for $50 a week. For about 6 or 7 months and then one of her neighbors was a lawyer and he knew somebody who worked at this really fancy restaurant downtown and he helped get me a job. And once I had a job for 6 or 7 months, I had enough money to finally move out and get my own place. So that's the beginning of a journey right there. That is the beginning of a journey and how did you get motivated? A lot of things were stacked against you. You know, a lot of things, you know how many actors try and never meet their dreams. How did you stay motivated during that process? You know, that becomes the intriguing part about that question for me, which ironically, I've asked a number of people on my own myself. Is we get into the we go the direction in my opinion of nature versus nurture. And I'm someone who believes, I don't think that it's 50 50 personally as a guy who was almost a psychology double major. I do believe we're a little more nurture than we are in nature personally. I think our environment of how we grow up has a little bit longer lasting effect on us and maybe the nature part of us remains a little more a little more hidden, but not always. I think that the way I grew up with just a sister and a mother who was not home very much and was sort of a latchkey kid who learned a lot on his own and had to grow up pretty fast. I think there was just a nurtured part of me that quitting wasn't really in my vocabulary. I don't know if you want to put words to something like that such as stubborn or cocky or defiant or I don't know. It doesn't much really matter. Even just going to the event that I went to in New York that I won, we didn't have any money for me to go to that. I literally had to go around and raise the money to be able to even go on that trip and when I wanted and that's a trophy that sits right

The mall said this is to to the response of the community who want safe and a pleasant environment and a family friendly environment to shop in. So you know what i look. "Cards backward talking about different. At elion money lessons that we can learn from our city and Joe you know compared to a lot of other large metropolitan cities across the country. Atlanta is surprisingly affordable for it has to offer. We've got sixteen fortune. Five hundred companies based here. I didn't know if you knew that. A little little braggadocious Big business which which one is the top earning. My guess is home depot. Sure it's gotta be. It's probably not coke. I mean cokes huge. But i don't think they're making as much money as some depot has been crushing it delta either. Because they're hurting. Like airlines have slim margins regardless the cost of living in atlanta is roughly forty four percent lower than it is in new york city on sixteen percent less than in chicago but even still opportunity a bounce. Here in the best opportunities aren't always in the biggest cities like san francisco in new york city and plus there are the added difficulties of moving to a high cost of living area. Even by earning more you might still be getting the short end of the stick. Basically compared to the lifestyle that you could afford in other parts of the country in a in a lower cost of living area with a more reasonable salary humana remember talking to somebody recently and they moved to la for. They got a substantial raise to move out there. But i was like. I was just thinking to myself when it comes to the cost of living out there. My guess is he's not gonna be able to up his lifestyle very much at all like he's really He he's making more of a lateral move in terms of like income to expense ratio And so it is important to think about that. Atlanta is one of those places where there's a ton of opportunity but the costs are lower. Like you said so. Get a lot of bang for your buck here. And then lena yeah you do you do. And so yeah. I mean i feel like Part of the reason for this episode is to convince our listeners to move to atlanta. 'cause it's wonderful and it's gonna save you money but you'll be closer to us exactly. Yeah we can hang out whatever you want go to beers and i think the other lesson from this too is to not. Just go with the name-brand right. I think people will just assume that highest paying jobs. The best quality of life is going to be found in some of the top five cities in the us. But we're talking about something on a smaller scale. Dig a little deeper right. Is it the name brand. Always the right move. I mean sometimes it is clearly better or there's a better warranty associated with it Or it's just lot more long lasting like if you buy that product you can use it for ten years as opposed to two but yet will the store brain equivalent. Suffice instead will cheaper alternative..

"But you know. I think he's going to start putting some fear in people's hearts and this is already his fifth five five cao's this fight right here so quick and his in his career. This is going to tell us something about him. You know jaded jaden booth. We do we know his his his record in the ring. How many how. Many to all three of his wins by knockout karis. All of his windsor might knock guys tale in without knocking their opponent. And that's the kind of main event that you can expect you know tomorrow night this car. I'd you know. I think. I like the friday card a little bit. Better you got the michaels. on their harris. He last fought on top rank. He's four and no and he's going to be going now to five with this fight. Because i'm picking them. I mean i'm sorry. I know i'm commentating but like the opponent is under is very probably going to be outmatched against this red hot prospect. We've been hearing about the michael since he was owen. No but are you worried that. He's coming off a very quick turnaround. No i mean. I'm sorry listen. This is a sport of what have you done for me lately and judge a book by its cover judge in the opponent. The opponent wins harris. These look in the mirror. Yeah yeah you specifically told me that. This was for the atlantic crowd. He's out to get a knockout and it's specific he better it's there. It's his gift to them. What okay okay. He's he better and listen. Did you see his his way in picture he did. Yeah yeah you bet you bet. I mean look making short jokes. You'd better take out the short man. Yeah him and his trainer. Pete crumbly to michael straighter had their fun. Poking their heads they took a picture with a drink. I didn't even know what it was. I didn't know he sparred forty rounds with chicago stevenson. Can you the michaels michael yadda forty rounds with someone at that. Caliber sport forty rounds in the last seven years. A fighter like the michael harris spar. A guy like four forty rounds and not take something away. I mean is it like a guarantee i mean does it basically equivalency to go into those rounds though mario the recent the recent for this camp or are they spread out through his four fight career. So if you wanna put it in those terms technically no. It wasn't for the exactly two for this. But that's because this lead up was very quick He had been in camps since april third and he was getting time. We should core before that and after so that time is very recent taken away taking away from those type requirements absolutely. Yeah you gotta you gotta be able to come out of that if you're not a session with something and and it's questionable. Obviously because some some fighters are not cerebral. But that's what you do you know if you're in this game the win if you're if you're sparring because you want you want they want to get better wanna get better. I mean we seen today. The chicago was sparring. Jared anderson with no headgear. Yeah mr knockouts. Marin partners allegedly. That's the rumor. That's jared jared jared. How heavyweight You know another fighter. We had talked about the friday card. We talked about the friday card. Being a one that's highlighted with a lot of really great talent. Here's one of quad. Tv's cash this is a guy who has typically fought at fifty four. He's gonna fight at one. Sixty his opponent estevan. I didn't really get a chance to talk to very much criterias caches from the contender. I don't know guys remember in maldives opponent. He's been on show box quite a few times as well to you know. He known throughout the boxing community. Well he's got a list of who's who that he sparred with definitely with kayla plant. David evita's mora sake iraq. I'm twenty world champs. He said just this year. He's shared the ring with inspiring and look at them sport in the contender. Briefs that he got from his time in the series all day. You don't think those are special. Made probably i mean i. I mean i mean series always got tomorrow affair marries jose in those. Yeah know i. I'm very excited to see him. Fight he maldives last opponent. That's a tree cambridge. He brings a bring crowd to yes. I think it's a treat. Whenever a promoter on this level can get television fighters on a club show yes. It obviously strengthens everything. Absolutely big shot again. Southbound promotions exactly the michaels harrison ford on top rank You got a amari. Jones is scheduled to be on the car. We'll see if i haven't seen him. Here are the pulling them up. I didn't see him about she'd either. Maybe not you know. Then you got the car scott and A few others man. There's there's quite a few other fighters here on this car that is strengthening couple decided. You know what. I'm excited to see how i'm a seal jimenez believe he might be a heavyweight or cruiserweight and he's scheduled for the second. Is it the second card on friday on saturday card. That's for the saturday car for yes. He's on the saturday car. It's a four round heavyweight fight. I'm ceo him jiminez. I'm very interested in that you know. We haven't had a puerto rican heavyweight prospect or latino heavyweight prospect and a longtime yes. We've had latino champion and mexican american. Andy we've we've had contenders but You know in up and coming prospect. I think he's been quite a quite a quite some time. So it's gonna be interesting minnesota. Yeah it's to be interesting to see how he pans out. Yeah you know The one guy that. I'm looking forward to tomorrow emmanuel rivera east fighting jonathan rama's super bantamweight. "Favorable atlanta crowd cheering them on. They're going to be packed. They're going to be wild. They're going to be loud and they're going to be allowed because he's yeah because he's a guy who who knocks people out five. He on coutts Do you think for a young fighter to have that kind of record. The pressure can be a hindrance for him. I mean this. Sport is not just physical managed mental. But if you have a good Good mindset to the sport you try not to allow that to pressure on you because oh snap have. He's back the okay in doing the dirty bird. He said move out the way. Nah na listen. We had some technical difficulties. We had to check on things up. But i think we're here now. Shot after man. Dan out there taking taking it on. Let me see i gotta i gotta find my right ankle. See him being cut off. Call you good now to take to the electric slide. And maybe i should be in the middle. No i look great. You're pointing. I'm gonna keep it going then Yes we were talking about the car. He scott venting tomorrow born in denver. But from atlanta we expect a ruckus atlantic crowd for a guy who just produces knockout after knockout. Dumi i i again i ask is a guy who racks up these knockouts in a row for a young guy like decor it could be a hindrance. Could it be something that he overreaches for or is that kind of pressure. I don't know man. I think you guys need to stop talking about. Knockout in boof is bigger. So he's big zinn shape. He's in shape. This is in fighting. And he's coming off the biggest winners. He looks like he could because astonishing. I a little jaded booth named threw me off a little bit. Yes 'cause usually you know you get a good night economical canadian vich. You can get a little a little a little bit of that. You know foreign Tasting there but this is jason booth and he. He looks big he does. He's a foreigner from knoxville. though he's six four six four six four and look. I know scott my here this but when they were facing off he was looking at my. Okay this dude is big. he's lean. yeah you know. Is that natural. I don't know but jaden doesn't look like he didn't train one thing that i always you know take consideration is like a andy. Ruiz bro Incredible phenomenal cardio. So it's like that's the type of cardio that i see the cari. Yes he's he you know. He's a sparring has become very popular amongst the boxing community. He's definitely have the cardio. So when i look at a guy didn't booth which i haven't seen him in the ring just might have some some some the push you know the corey scott but we just don't know how much of a fighting sheep he can be right. Yeah well that's what the car we asked to bank on that the bigger taller man isn't in the shape that the carbon his team train. You know Over there stop from mickens jim. They train hard They like to call it the mud. And that's why devante davis goes over there and you know. We got to hope that he can. He can put it together on. Fight night great main event because there is some potential for an upset. I mean this guy. Jaden is upset minded. He upset the co main on tomorrow night's card on saturday night. So you know ridell mays. Hayes knows jaden hand. And i think maybe that's why i'm a little more invested not invested but like on pins and needles like wow is he going to be able to do it okay okay. We'll jaden upset. Scott or would scott look that much better. Is this kind of opponent that you'd say the win is take it and you run or do you think that he has to go out there and impress. No you definitely take this win and run with it. Yeah i think you're right. I mean there's an element of danger and no one knows jaden booth. Yeah i mean so. The danger is in the mind of mustafa. Mickens is in the mind of mack truck. Because they know ridell mays hayes superman as as they call them so they seen what jaden was able to do with super maze. So you have to have at least that alertness right. Don't tell you know lightly. Yeah you gotta be triggered in your mind right now. You gotta be wondering you know and If it was a body contest jaden definitely definitely absolutely. But that's not mac drugs game doom when you you you talk to mustafa dicara mack trucks trainer. He had talked about getting rounds in. He had talked about showing skill and even went as far as to say that cars power is not the best thing about him. It's his ring. I q do you feel like it's cap or do you really think because we know that mustafa is a great trainer. We know what he's doing. I mean i'll tell him than the new nazeem richerson been saying that. Mustafa i got that most respect fan as soon as i seen him come on. The scene started seeing him on social media. Because that's where all see all exactly. Yeah yeah and. I started to see his philosophies in the way he trains his whole mindset towards the game. I love it. He's a teacher. he's i totally totally meshed with that with that type of mentality towards the fight game so when you say it's not cat because what most people don't see besides the power and the pressure that the car he can bring is that ring. I q and that punch placement. The punch placement is was impressive to me. Yes he's able to play shots and really hurt guys in this boxing game. You don't need to throw too many punches. If you land good place hard shots and this heavyweight game you can really hurt her. Actually guys you know a lot of times in boxing. You know you're stablemates kinda make you tell me who i'll tell you how good you gonna be so growing up. Tell me who you win. You are sparring. That tells me how good you're going to be. How good you going to do. And the facts are this. Whoever doesn't know about what's going on here at the buckhead fight club. Which is promotions and southbound promotions and. They've put mack truck in a position where he can lose but it's way raise the awareness of his fight and i think that spawned that he's got gotten with brandon gluten dion. Nicholson even roy jones. Not too long ago. Preparation for mike tyson. I think that's going to be kind of what gets them over the hump. I mean because jaden looks the part you know people were asking me. Am i a heavyweight. Because just because i looked like it doesn't mean i can fight like it. We know that reese fighting. We know that he's training. And i've been to that dungeon i call it that because it's hot like one. I don't understand how they breathe even there. So i know he's coming from the mud as they say and he's getting that dog's mind we've seen if i were brandon in faa towbar. Puji dogfight dogfight dog mentality gluten. That's who's pushing mack truck. That's what the people need to understand when you are deciding whether or not you're gonna buy this pay per view you get an opportunity to up incoming rising star you know. It hasn't been you know often that we see five ten heavyweights that can punch as five ten heavyweight. That can punch probably mike tyson. And and look mac is in body beautiful. He's not mike tyson. Who probably never be mike in terms of physical lottie cup appearance..

"Well we are dirtier all right. We do news. We do serious news and oftentimes we have fun with it so youngsters open nailed it As always i'm here every day kind of so we've got Stories about republicans in tow carlson marjorie taylor green and all the nonsense of course the democrats as well. So let's move forward. Let's do it. Yeah i actually would like to start the show today by discussing a class war. That's taking place on a very local level in. Atlanta has to do with policing the intersection of policing and the class war. So this story is insane but it gives you a sense of where rich people are at when it comes to funding police so the wealthy neighborhood of buckhead in atlanta is actually looking to divorce itself from atlanta and become its own city so the wealthy neighborhood can essentially have its own local police department it can fund its own local police department which will be separate from atlanta now. The reason why they're doing that is because In atlanta as we're experiencing all across the country there has been a spike in violent crime. Homicides are up by about sixty three percent to the same time last year and up forty three percent compared to the same period in two thousand nineteen. And that's according to late may data released by the atlanta police department. The city has seen more than three hundred shooting incidents. Since the start of the year up forty five percent from what it recorded this time last year and up fifty five percent from twenty thousand nineteen. So it's important to know that context. There is an increase in violent crime not just in atlanta which these statistics bear out but all across the country. This has been an increasing issue. Something that unfortunately the gop has latched onto as their way of rallying supporters to go to the polls and vote for them in the midterms. And so what does buckhead this wealthy neighborhood in atlanta wanna do well first off limits. No they're known as the beverly hills of atlanta. So it gives you a sense of The wealth in this particular neighborhood but apparently state lawmakers introduced legislation earlier this year. That could pave the way for a buckhead city. Vote on november twenty on november twenty twenty two ballot now the buckhead city committee says it raised six hundred thousand dollars to support ongoing lobbying efforts and a commission a feasability. Study that is set to kick off in days. So they've already got this process. Going and buckhead isn't the only area in georgia. That's moving forward with this kind of idea right. Just kind of divorcing itself from metropolitan areas in the state. Now here's bill white. He is the head of the buckhead exploratory committee. He's actually the ceo of the buckhead exploratory exploratory committee and in this video. We kind of explains the reasoning behind. Why they're doing this. We are living in a war zone. That's how we describe living in buckhead and what has happened here. In the last several years is an incredibly dangerous.

But two days later, the guy is canceled because he's Republican. So again, a disgrace It lops right into the category of the policemen being shown from this beautiful parade in New York, where they used to protect these people from other dangerous people coming to that parade, the harm LGBT and the NYPD. We're out there protecting those. Amazing party goers and the people who walking up and down Fifth Avenue and it's a shame what happens to shame. What happened. The NFL guy? I sent him a message on Instagram. You drove you back, and I just said, we're so proud of you. Whenever you come to Atlanta, we want to host a dinner for you. And we're going to honor you. And thank you for being a strong leader. Absolutely. By the way, it turns out that guy is a Republican. The guy who came out in the NFL. Hey, Bill White. Or you can follow Bill White at at Bill White and Y at Bill White. And why, Bill? You've been all over Fox News. You live in Atlanta. You live in the Buckhead section. And crime has just exploded and all the major cities Democrat major cities for the most part Democrat run major cities. But in Buckhead, you have been spearheading this effort to secede from the city of Atlanta. Where does that stand right now as we speak. Thank you guys. Thanks for bringing that up. You know, it's very interesting. What's happening here in the city of Atlanta has exploited. The great people of bucket, you know who are really significant contributors to the fabric of this great city of Atlanta. So way too long. The murder rate in Buckhead Forget Atlanta. It's up 60% Atlanta But in Buckhead, it's like the Beverly Hills of Los Angeles. Is 140% since 2019 shootings are up 165% since 2019 and the mayor of Atlanta who's announced he's not Running for office 100% because we announced we're splitting from Atlanta. That is the reason why she dropped out. She knew she would never have a chance. They're about to lose the billion dollars A year in their piggy banks from us because, you know, they get this money and they just pissed it away and we're going to take our city back. We're gonna give all of the people about had a new police department, which will Not be handcuffed. They will be there to do their jobs. At the moment the mayor announced. We don't arrest shoplifters. We don't chase carjackers. We don't stop the street razors. People are living in $20 million condos here in Atlanta. They can't sleep. Elton John, you know he doesn't live here anymore. There's men who literally putting billion dollar deals together in Atlantic, creating jobs. They can't sleep in their apartments there outside with decibel meters because the street racers keep him up all night, and nobody is being arrested. So this effort has great support. We have two bills in the Georgia Legislature, and this thing is going to be on the ballot in November. 22 22 And I think if you had the vote today would be 80%. Buckhead City is going to be a new example to the country. How you get rid of this crazy people policies and take your lives back. Interesting. Former president of the Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum. "The people in the North. In parts are saying, Why don't we just get out of the city of Atlanta and become our own incorporated city that we can have our own police force and we can hire people who are going to enforce the law and let them know that we back then? You know, Michael, this makes me think of the it's really used in for religious institutions. More We talk about the term but the term subsidiarity, which is really the best level of administration, the most effective level of administration is going to be local. It's just it has way more in common with West Virginia or rural Pennsylvania, then And or, you know, or even parts of Virginia that don't have anything anymore, really in common with Northern Virginia, and yet because of the way because there's the dominance of urban and suburban areas in terms of population, you can vote to your heart's content in Western Maryland, and it doesn't matter. And if you haven't listened to that that was the last episode. So i want you to go and listen to that so stop listening. Good listen to that one and done can come back. We'll continue you find the one go anyway so now that you're here one of the things that we want to talk about. Today's building a community around your business. Now i want just talk about building a community. I'm going to talk about three particular benefits and three particular examples of businesses that ways to build a community around your product services or brand and this one just be building community because it's a community. No this'll be building a community that is actually beneficial in terms of increasing your outcome increasing revenue increasing the results you deliver and increasing ability to acquire more customers. Should i put in that week so when it comes to building a community around your brand. The is three key benefits that i've seen in these benefits. Some of them speak for themselves but these three key benefits ambassadors right. So you get ambassadors. Because you've built. Pete commit around your brand the are gonna be people who are gonna love your product to love your product so much the next step for the people who have loved the product is to talk about it literally. They've used it and the next step is to talk about it. And so for you to create space for reach your customers. Your clients can become ambassadors and they may become your busters without really thinking about putting too much effort. It's just natural when we love something we talk about it right I know. I bought some marketing materials in the lobby so much. Stop talking about it. Experience was transformational. It was transformational and so that is the first step and then the next step is reduced. Ca which is cost of acquisition right. So what do i mean because fabrication. Well let's that beckwith embassador right so someone is your product. The next thing is tell a friend. Hey look i'm using this thing by the way it has such such features only does this for me or it feels really good. It can do this. And that. And that. And every time i want to do this helps me with up right. It's very natural. Think back to the product to any. I bought and what you say about it but i remember friend of mine had this watch and we were hiking up a mountain to the nice beautiful summer day hiking and we had a really steep slope and we went down to the river right. It was very shallow river and he took his watch told me come here come and see this. Come and see this and hit took his watch and he literally dip it underwater and hit a first. He put the rocks into a circle then he dipped his. He left his watch. And a few minutes. As we're talking right. He left it underwater and then he told me it's waterproof. My brother got it for me and he was so much in love with the product that him talking about made me want to know more right now. I am not too much into watches. Or anything like that. But i remember his passion and i remember we. Now i can think about it. I can feel it right. So that's the way it goes. If someone loves the product talk about it if they loved you services they'll talk about you they will introduce your new people. They will recommend you literally even if not getting anything just how much they believe in you. You are talking to their core values hopes and dreams and so that's the first step then. The next thing is reduced cost of acquisition. So what do i mean here well linnea choir accustomed. Think back to the first customer. You're quiet either. You had to spend time looking for places going place to place trying to find a way to acquire customers. Placing your odds. If it's not playing odds it's using word of mouth asking for a combination. It takes time to get those right and it takes a little time if you have to spend. Ads may not take time with me. Take money spent odd. But there's a cost and the cost of that time or money to get that new customer or client right so cost if acquiring customer client for every product you sell is the cost of acquiring a new customer client right and you can calculate this number down to exactly how much it cost you to them right. I remember with one of my product. I sat down. you know. it's an energy unit. It's energy measuring units and working out. Okay so it's costing this much and it's costing us this much to find a new customer for it right and so what we ended up finding was it's actually cheaper to manufacture it. The cost of acquiring a customer is more expensive right so you need to know how much it's gonna cost you to acquire customer but once you have a first customer. It's easier for them to buy from you and you don't have to spend any more to acquire this the because you already have them right and if there if and if they love your product and service so much that can be a customer who even brings what two additional people into your business and the goal here is was you have them. You don't have to acquire them so was have them to keep them to let them go so the community around them and the third benefit these refining your message so you really know your ideal customer. Ideal clients refining. That message once you already have a customer who bought from you then refining a message through them right if you're creating new product service that's tigers to the same type of customer. You went test your message. And if a community it's easier to send a message into.

TED Talks Daily
3 questions to ask yourself about everything you do
"When i was in high school at the age of seventeen i graduated from high school in. Decatur georgia as valedictorian of my high school. Proud of myself. I was from a low income community. I'd grown up in mississippi. We'd moved from mississippi to georgia so my parents could pursue their degrees as united methodist ministers. We were poor but they didn't think we were poor enough so they were going for permanent poverty. And so while they studied at emory i studied at avondale and i became valedictorian. Well one of the joys of being valedictorian in the state of georgia is that you get invited to meet the governor of georgia. I was mildly interested in meeting him. It was kind of cool. I was more intrigued by the fact that he lived in a mansion. Because i watched a lot of general hospital in dynasty as a child. And so i got up that morning. Ready to go to visit the governor. My mom and my dad are also invited. Got up and we went outside but we didn't get in our car in the south. A car is a necessary thing. We don't have a lot of public transit. There aren't a lot of options. But if you're lucky enough to live in a community where you don't have a car. The only option is public transit. And that's what we had to take and so we got on the bus and we took the bus from decatur. All the way to buckhead where. The governor's mansion sat on this really beautiful acreage of land. These long black gates that ran the length of the property. We get to the governor's mansion. We pulled a lever that lets them know. This is our stop. We get off the bus. My mom my dad. And i walk across the street and we walk up the driveway because their cars coming up cars bringing students from all across the state of georgia. And so we're walking along the side and as we walk single file along the side of my mom and dad's sandwiching to make sure i don't get hit. By one of the cars bringing the other valedictorians. We approached the guard gate and we get to the guard gate. Guard comes out and he looks at me and he looks at my parents and he says you don't belong here. This is a private event. My dad says no. This is my daughter. Stacy she's one of the valedictorians but the guard doesn't look the checklist that's in his hands. He doesn't ask my mom for the invitation. That's at the bottom of her very voluminous purse instead. He looks over our shoulder at the bus because in his mind the buses telling him a story about who should be there and the fact that we were too poor to have our own car. That was a story. He told himself and he may have seen something in my skin. Color may have seen something in my attire. I don't know what went through his mind but his conclusion was to look at me again and with the look of disdain. So i told you this is a private event. You don't belong here now. My parents were studying to become united methodist ministers but they were not pastors yet and so they proceeded to engage this gentleman a very robust discussion of his decision making skills. My father may have mentioned that he was going to spend eternity in a very fiery place. If he didn't find my name on that checklist and indeed. The man checks the checklist eventually and he found my name and he led us inside. But i don't remember meeting the governor of georgia. I don't recall meeting my fellow valedictorians from one hundred and eighty school districts. The only clear memory i have of that day was a man standing in front of the most powerful place in georgia. Looking at me. And telling me i don't belong and so i decided twenty some odd years later to be the person who got to open the gates. Unfortunately you may have read. The rest of the story didn't quite work out that way and now i'm tasked with figuring out how do i move forward because you see i didn't want just open the gates for young black women who had been underestimated and told they don't belong. I wanted to open those gates for latinas for asian americans. I wanted to open those gates for the undocumented and documented. I wanted to open those gates as an ally of lgbtq community. I wanted to open those gates for the families that have to call themselves the victims of gun violence. I wanted to open those gates wide for everyone in georgia because our state and this is our nation and we all belong here. But what i recognize. The first try wasn't enough and my question became. How do i move forward. How do i get beyond the bitterness and the sadness and the lethargy and watching an inordinate amount of television as eat ice cream. What do i do next. And i'm going to do what i've always done. I'm going to move forward because going backwards is an option and standing still is not enough.
