Supreme Court Strikes Down New York COVID Restrictions
"The new Supreme Court has spoken, and it is a much different message as it relates to Covad restrictions from the government. 93 w A. B C. It's the Mark and Rob. Show him Rob Mok is out Abdul in for Mok. And obviously, this came down late on Wednesday. With yesterday being Thanksgiving. We didn't get a chance to get to it. But the Supreme Court essentially striking down the order from New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, putting a limit on how many people could attend certain religious services again simplifying a very complex issue, but basically saying Hey, If you say liquor stores and bike shops can have whatever. Then you can't say religious institutions can't have a two almost soon. You say they got it wrong. Um, not necessarily. I think they got it right. But it was the question Woz. Um Did the rule really apply anymore? Because the mayor of New York City had sort of lift exits. The Governor York had sort of color coded like from orange thread in the synagogue to church. We're back in the orange category. Not the red category. So the question was. Is this really an issue at all? But what this gets, too? And it's going to sound really where I got to get in the weeds for just a little bit Sure, because we should point out the people hearing your voice. You are a man of all you are an attorney license in two states, which means we gotta start paying my annual to send to stop it. It's gonna cost about 350 bucks. There is this issue was called muteness and rightness. Muteness basically means that the issues over and the court doesn't have to deal. With it right. You need actual case X again up to the Supreme Court. So what does that mean? Cause I would look at this and say this is a This is a case. So what? No, it's no. It's Zen emergency hearing. Um For lack of a better term kinda figure how to explain this in like 10, seconds or less. Since keeping relatively simple in a nutshell, The court will hear cases like you know. Plessy vs Ferguson served Kendall versus shabbas or something like that has gone through the district Court, the appellate court and then to the Supreme Court. Then the court will also hear these sort of emergency orders, which is Hey, our rights are being violated. We need to know a quick opinion. Next. Why Z, which which gets to need to where I was going to go? Which is? How does the court decide? I was gonna ask you that question. This seems like it came very quickly versus these cases that sometimes you know, we'll hear an argument in October and they don't rule until June. Or you give it I say that it takes forever to go to go through. These sort of things are for those specific issues. So like Trump may appeal Some ruling related to the election, and that would be just for that specific thing. It wouldn't have some overarching. Apparently it was in the emergency order category, for example. Hey, we need to throw these ballots out right now. Because December 14th, the Electoral college is going to do X Y Z so the court will now the court can hear things on an expedited basis. I'II Bush versus Gore. "It's black friday and You know things have changed a lot because of the pandemic first of all you know things usually start on black friday maybe a day or two before. Now i mean deals have been going on for like a week already maybe a little longer and the holiday shopping season is just kind of be extended all the way through the end of the holidays mark. I wanted to talk about some cool apps that can help you find deals but let's talk real quick about how the pandemic has changed everything. I mean before a lot of people would go out to the stores. Wait in line. A lot of people would obviously shop online but most people are just going to be sticking to their computers. And it's all about who can refresh faster to get some of these big deals. Forget black friday. It's more like cyber friday and forget just this weekend i would say it started with amazon prime day like month and a half ago or so and leading all the way up to the holidays and even past it so no doubt that retailers. Many of them are also feeling the pinch. Maybe not the big guys like amazon but they wanna sell so they are discounting their tack and other items and consumers us. We want to save this year more than ever trying to stretch your dollar because of what's been going on so there are some deals to be had. It does help if you have an app a website that helps you along the way we know were there devoted solely to helping you find the best deal and we can cover a couple of my favorites. But yeah if you've got a favorite store to shop at or you're open to looking around and you're comfortable with shopping online. You're gonna find some great deals this year. As things were selling out. Right away i know game stop. Said they're going to have some units in stock in store a minimum of two of each. As it's called has a built in microphone now so you don't even have to buy a separate headset. you can actually chat through the controller itself as it has a microphone and a speaker see. So if you're finding everywheres is sold out as the old adage says the early bird gets the worm if you call your local retailer local walmart or what have you and you keep hounding them and you keep pushing and talking to people. Someone's gonna say eventually. Yeah we're getting. I found seventy five inch samsung tv for eleven hundred dollars at this retailer and then others vote on that. They do their own homework. And it's kinda like safety in numbers and they vet does deal and it gets voted upon and may be lands on the on the homepage. So this is a great site for whatever you're buying and again that browser extension which works with chrome edge and fire. Fox will also keep a lookout for you so slick deals as greats like a huge bulletin board where people are sharing the deals that they found on a right now and i'm seeing like an apple watch at walmart for eighty dollars off one hundred sixty nine bucks for the series three and it tells you when the deal starts in what website to go to and people can give it a thumbs up and all that another great site is flip l. i. Double p this is more about retail shopping. And this is an app that you have on your phone that gets all of those circulars that you get all those ads that usually paper in your in our house every thursday wrapped up in a big. You know elastic band kind of thing. And it's like instead of doing that and getting newsprint on your hands all digitize in one place it will call out the best deals per store you can of course search for something that you want to buy. You can share those deals. You can apply coupons at hold your loyalty and rewards cards so flip is a great retail to have on your phone and then one more is a raccoon. These be called e bates. This is where you get money back on your purchases. So when you're shopping at a retailer you start at the raccoon website or started the app and then they share back that sort of commission they would get referrals commission. They share some of that back to you. So every three months you can get a pay pal deposit or a check based percentage of what you're shopping and there's over like twenty five hundred retailers that are on board so it's going to vary between stores but they're saying this time of year it could be up to forty percent while you're shopping. Tips For Safe Thanksgiving Air Travel
"I have a lot of tips on how to keep yourself safe when you fly by air but there are a couple things i want to cover for this holiday season. First of all in my opinion and this is just my humble opinion. You shouldn't be traveling. You shouldn't be going anywhere to visit family over thanksgiving but you're going to do what you're going to do. They estimate the government estimates two million people are going to travel somewhere either by car or by air to visit family over thanksgiving and i understand how that works. You want to be together with your family but let me just tell you what. The experience was in canada where they celebrate thanksgiving about a month before us shortly after everyone returned from their thanksgiving trips. The covid numbers spiked dramatically in candidate. I would expect that that's going to happen again here. in fact i'm in colorado right now. The covid cases in colorado are higher than they've ever been before here than in april and may so it's a real threat. So i wanna to talk about things that you should do where you might consider doing if you plan to tribal First of all if you plan to travel you might want to. You might want to check out what airline you're going to use and i know we're a little late because thanksgiving's tomorrow but you know there are have a link in our show to how you can check out the airline's safety rating as far as kovic safety goes. We're not talking about crash safety. We're talking about covid safety. there's a ranking and right now the top airline in the united states for for covert safety according to this ranking is delta. But you could take a look there and see what airline you're going to choose to fly on if it's not too late to make your reservations when you go through security screening. You might wanna bring something with you. Plastic bag or something. He can put inside the the. Been where you put your shoes and things like that. Because you're going to be putting your laptop your carry on luggage. You're going to be putting all that in that. Been in someone else's shoes have been in that been ahead of you. So there's this thing and i have a lincoln. Our show called the been bag and they're not cheap. There's four for about twenty about twelve bucks but under disposable but you could reuse them. I suppose if you want but you carry them with you and your line that then with that before you put your jacket and things like that in the ben. It'll keep them clean. Like i told you and the other episode and still from a filling station in in the terminal but i recommend that you bring your own stuff to eat and i recommend that you stay hydrated during the flight but other than that you want to keep your mask on as much as possible and if you're going to be eating you're going to be taking your mask off periodically while you're eating. Speaking of masks recommend have extra mask with you. I recommended be an n ninety five mask. And i'm going to tell you how i do it when i use an n ninety five mask i go to the dollar store. I and bryce eyelash adhesive so i'm not gonna put on false eyelashes. My eyes are just gorgeous. Oh they are but if you put eyelash adhesive around the top of your and ninety five mask it will stay on your face. The way it's supposed to and won't slip down and get below your nose so i recommend you do that now if you have a chance to choose a seat. I recommend a window seat. Why because the air in airliners circulated about every two to three minutes and all that circulated air goes down the sidewalls to vent in the floor and then it gets circulated through the air cycle machine and hep offenders. So it's real clean air. That is coming out of the eyeballs at the top of your out the overhead part of your seat. And if you stay a close to the sidewall of the airplane as you can then you'll have nothing but fresh air. You won't have air recycle recirculated past months strangers.

Just when we found out that car tabs you know what I 9 76 working. We were going to get a break from that. So Seattle added another 20 bucks. To their car tabs, but It was about what it was going to go for. So this was all page towards the end of the budget process. And essentially Lisa Herbold wanted it to be out there to cover some of the investments in bridge maintenance. Because Seattle got a terrible city audit, saying they should be spending 34 million or so a year on maintaining the bridges and which is, of course, a big deal because of the West Seattle Bridge right now and all of the other bridges. We're only spending the only spent 6.6 million a year. They're supposed to be spending 3 34. So you know, she said, Let Z do this. This 20 bucks car tabs of the wood. It's easy for us to say that these are great choices because we don't follow the other games that are part of it nearly as much to be honest with you. It's hard to imagine another team in any game being as dominant the secret where this year. I don't really watch a lot of other award shows at all but the oscars. I watch every single year. It's an event you know it's fun to watch. Even if i hate all of the movies which is sometimes the case that they just pick like the criteria just doesn't make sense to me sometimes like these artsy fartsy like movies will sometimes win for no reason. According to me but again like what criteria are they using. I don't know maybe you just don't have any taste. No that's definitely. I love in bruges. It's a great movie. Don't try to get out obligation. But what do you think from east perspective because when you look at the movies just as you know. Let's just do a one to one here. It's pretty clear. Even without knowing the exact criteria it's movies of this category but for east. There's just it feels like it's not as black and white. There's just so many different games. What is even considered an e sport. Technically speaking like. I don't even know the answer that question. That's the thing i mean. I guess the analogy of the comparison is really good though because in movies. There's also like it's super subjective. Right like what do you consider. A good movie is very different. From one person to the next head would be considered true. The truth of the matter is that you'll be able to get decent deals on just about anything you set your sights on. So let's focus on quality gear with lots of appeal. I hope you enjoy these gift ideas. So i've been working on this list for a while and this is stuff that i just lifted from catalog pages or other articles or things like this. I have worked with this gear with the exception of just one item. And i want to get that one item but everything else has been thoroughly tested in highly recommended and this is fun stuff. I have things that start at ten dollars here and go all the way up to three hundred and fifty dollars. I'm going to start out with the think. Tank photo lens case duel and both the fifteen and the thirty green yes. The green models are the ones that are on sale. You can get the fifteen for nineteen dollars a dollar savings and the thirty for twenty hours. That's also an eight dollar savings. I like the thirty because it holds some of my olympics lenses such as seventeen millimeter f one two and those quite. But i love these guys i really do. And it's funny. When i was looking at the ratings on them i think they were around three point. Five out of five something like that and i thought wow. That's kinda low for these things. So i i'm not sure what other people like or don't like about them. Here's what i like about these first of all. They're not oversize like some of the lens cases that i have there too big. They add to much dimension to my camera bag or backpack wherever they have the end. These don't do that. They protect the lenses but there are a nice size and they work really well. Now the idea is that you can open these things from the top and they open up like a know like a can or you can have the zipper down the side and open them up. That way i tend to work with them from the top. Only you know they're. They're really nice like that. They're made out of water resistant. Nylon so they keep moisture away they have these little stretchy front pockets. That are really cute and they can hold lens caps or memory cards. They work i. I have four of them and i wish i had more. This is the best price that i've seen on them. Now they have green and black. The black ones you have to pay full price for i like the greens. Because they're easy to find in my camera bag or my backpack. So that's the think tank photo lens dul either the fifteen or the thirty now as you may imagine. I have the links to all of these things. How The Flying Fahans Got Started In Aviation
"I'm joined today by very famous. Couple job the margaret and joe fan who were delta pilots flew together numerous times and they retired together. It is so great having you with us today. Thanks for taking the time. It's nice to be here. thanks for talking with us. You're welcome so so. Who is flying the longest. I'm older by about four years. Okay so we'll start with you joe. How did you get your start in aviation you know. I wanted to be a pilot since i was a little kid. And when i got to be about fifteen. I started getting my parents to drop me off the local airport and eventually got a job as a line boy there and spend all my money taking lessons. There's just that simple so back. Then how much did it cost to take lessons. Well kids today are going to hate me for saying this. I flew a brand new one. Seventy two with an instructor for twenty dollars. An hour into european itself was fourteen dollars an hour. The instructor was six and it was a struggle back. Then because i'm making that dollars seventy five bucks an hour whatever. The minimum wage was then. So you know it's it's increased by about tenfold. Since since i did that but there people people paying over two hundred dollars an hour for a general aviation airplane with instructor. My private pilot licence cost me all eight hundred dollars. Well that's were great. How about you. How did you get your story. Well my mom and dad are from germany and we used to fly to germany every summer to visit family so for me the best part of the vacation was actually the flight and i just know i had to do something with airplanes later on in life and When i was sixteen. I was dating a boy that my dad wasn't particularly fond of so he thought my dad had flown gliders in world war two at the end of the war so he thought if margaret had a hobby maybe she spend less time with boyfriend and more time with the hobbies so he took me to the glider airport in the area and He got reso- load. And i started flying taking lessons and it just took off from there that is very cool so interesting parroting those is really good parent yes. He has a better story than i do off. So so joe. Did you start earning money right away after you got your license. Well private commercial instrument. And then i became a flight instructor and i was teaching for a couple years. I guess that's my first paid flying job and college was in there too taught in college and then got your later. I got hired by a little commuter airline in southern new jersey southern jersey airways honors for five years or so and seven for almost a year and went on with the airlines so that was kind of a straight shot so when you interviewed with delta did they have the shrink with a rocking chair. Well actually we're. We didn't come that way. We were a northwest pilots. Oh okay all right actually. Yeah we required. Margaret margaret was actually a pilot for republic airlines and i was a pilot for northwest so we merged as choir twice. She was margaret. Tell us about how you got Started getting paid to fly well. Once i started taking lessons at all i wanted to do was be at the airport. Talk to people at the airport. You learn all. I could so i started working out there. I worked at the office. And then i worked on the line to Being that it was a glider airport. There were several line called them lined boys but there were lying girls. You had to hook up the toro to the glider and then run the wing as the toll. Plane drag glider off. So i did whatever. I could to You help pay for lessons and back then you got to know the instructors. So you traded washing their cars for instruction you've got a cheaper rate on the glider rental Got a little discount of the toe. So as soon as i could i started flying and earning money to pay for lessons. Surely you a glider rating before you got a power rating. Yes you could back then solo. I think it was fifteen. Get your license at sixteen in glider. So you could get your commercial glider license that eighteen and you could give rides and you know what we call the introductory lessons. I got my flight instructor. Rating is flight instructed in gliders before i got my private airplane well that is very cool and never flown gliders but i understand that that's the best way to learn to fly. Start with gliders. Buck carry is an eighteen year old patient at the institution and its reported that she has a mental age of nine years old In the petition where he's providing justification for why she should be sterilized pretty says that buck is a threat to society and he says that. Kerry's mother had a mental age of eight in addition to reportedly having a history of prostitution immorality and parenting three illegitimate children. And so don't carry had been adopted by another family and attended school until sixth grade. Pretty further noted in this in this report that she eventually just became quote incorrigible and at the age of seventeen. She gave birth to an illegitimate child. So at that point her adopted family said they're incapable of caring for Kerry and they had her committed to the state colony. This this institution most gave it their best for three four years. But at the end of the day She had some premarital sex. And you gotta give them to the State Colony for epileptics and idiots and so. They basically informed carried that she is going to undergo this sterilization procedure and she challenges it in court now. The named parties obviously Carrie Buck versus bell. Bell is the doctor the surgeon who will perform the sterilization surgery. So that's how we get the the case named Buck v Bell. Can I ask a question? Quick I didn't see this in the in my background research. I don't know any of you guys saw how this case came to be was she liked the impetus or is there people looking for plaintiffs on this. Not so it's not clear but the case itself collusive. They're doing it on purpose to you. Bring the case that goes through the courts so that it will be upheld okay. And so the question is whether forced sterilization imposes on the bodily integrity of these women In violation of their entitlement to process of law and or equal protection under the Fourteenth Amendment. And the court holds that it is not a violation of the Fourteenth Amendment finding that all three generations of buck women were quote feeble minded and quote promiscuous and that the state had a legitimate interest in their sterilization and the court starts out by stating the reasons for the law. Saying that. The sterilization of mental defective is for the benefit of the patient and society generally and that Sterilization allows mental asylums and similar institutions to discharge those patients without concern that they might reproduce. Yeah the court notes you know. Quote experience has shown that heredity plays an important part in the transmission of insanity imbecilic at Cetera. Wade which at one point seems like it would be impossible with the with the make up of the court that might not be as far from reality as it once was and that of course is due to present trump's commitment to putting originalist justices and judges on the bench these are justices and judges of course we have two amazing Supreme Court justices put and put in by president John justice Neil Gorsuch and just as Brett Kavanaugh who as you know was just treated horrifically throughout throughout his confirmation process but regardless we have two incredible dresses is now the pension and these justices are ritualised they look to the text of the constitution and to what the founders put in the constitution to make their decisions it might seem like common sense to you and I but to some people it's it's just totally crazy because guess what some people liberal activists judge is a black to these judges are more dangerous than you can even imagine these liberal activist judges put in reading between the lines whatever they want to they come to the conclusion of what they they want to see the result they and then they find a way to get there instead of looking to the constitution to determine what the answer should be so when it comes to the lasting legacy of president trump I really believe it's gonna lie in his court nominations in the judges that he put on the district courts in the circuit courts in the Supreme Court justices yes she is two already but there's a chance we could see one or two more if he's reelected so we look forward to November twenty twenty and this is going to be a more critical time I think the never before because he continues to reshape the federal judiciary and he's doing it at a record pace was that something I don't think many people expected you know there were people that doubted whether he would do it at all let alone do it at a record pace he promised to appoint judges that would uphold the constitution and the rule of law and that's exactly what he did to the Senate's can from twelve more of his judicial nominees as I said he's continued to reshape the judiciary which is critically important to us when it comes to the protection of the first amendment the second amendment the lives of the unborn all the things that we as conservatives in as patriotic Americans really care about he's a sophomore federal court judges than any president in the past four decades forty years we haven't seen a president put more judges on the bench she's nominated and the Senate's confirmed a grand total of the house in a hundred and seventy four article three judges of course you are you know about those two Supreme Court justices that we have fifty circuit court judges and a hundred and thirty three District Court judges this is truly incredible and to court of international trade are she's really made a substantial impact already so we have to think is what impact could he make with four more years relaxing him could lead we see roe V. Wade overturned it could mean that our right to be protected for our children our children's children and for so much longer after that something we have to keep in mind and we're gonna be right back on.

"Self to you as bug several cuts is weird to me i mean in retrospect like prowl like john hughes brad did not understand teenagers quite as well as we gave him credit for for a long time but like this is just like a fundamental misunderstanding of a teenagers motivation it anything like this super confuse like well she's a teenage girl so she could be crossing her she's gonna be horny she gimme crossing her arms she's gonna be pouting she's going to be yelling but it's like there's no rhyme or reason to anything that character does right she's just opposed to whatever the authority figure is in the film which is like super oversimplification of like what could have been an interesting character at that yeah you're a ceuta yeah we never really get much of an arc with her except that she delights in her uncle torturing a guy and that's how they bond i do i have some thoughts on that where i think the idea with her is she is kind of like uncle buck where she also cheated about family and and doomed to be a loner and this is these two people sort of a bonding over this similar experience and and accepting family by the end it's just not a very i i didn't find the arc to clear in it like america second watching yeah yeah i guess yeah we just never got that scene where it was like i guess we're supposed to inferred that something clearly happened when she ran away to go spend the weekend with bug and then we don't find out what it we'll find out what it was it's up that she's just she's upset and she just i guess that's when she i don't i don't know if she realized she was in.
