Fresh update on "buck" discussed on The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show

"This is the clay Travis and buck Sexton show sound off. Welcome back to clay Ann Buckley mentioned the top of the show that there was a veteran Richard Pierre Rowe who was able to help tackle and subdue the mass murdering shooter at the Q nightclub over the weekend. We actually have him explaining how he was able to in Colorado Springs tackle this shooter and in doing so likely save save lives. There were 5 lives lost, but it could have been as we know many more based on how many people were there and the situation, the circumstances they were playing out, but there were a couple of heroes on the scene who stepped up and neutralized the threat. Here is army veteran Richard fierro explaining how he did what he did and how he stepped up to save lives. Play clip one. I saw the ACU pattern flag this. And for me, that was like, there's a handle, I'm getting it. So I ran across the room, grabbed the handle, holding him down, and then started to well actually, I think I meant for his gun with him. His rifle flew in front of him, and the young man that tried to jump in there with me, we both either pulled him down or whatever, but he ended up at his head and right next to the AR, and then with the AR, I told him push the AR, get the away from him. The kid pushed the AR. I don't know what his name was. And then I proceeded to take his other weapon, the pistol, and then just start hitting him where I could, but the armor is in the way. And I just found a crease between his armor and his head and I just started wailing away. In doing so clay, this guy, this guy saved live, stopped a mass shooting in progress by grabbing the body armor of the shooter, dragging him to the ground and finding a place where he could pummel him with his bare hands. Good for him. And I applaud and believe we should give attention to all of the heroes who stop any sort of crimes like these. Is it just me buck or does it feel like this guy, the shooter's name as being used in the media much less? The reason why I bring that up is the data reflects that many mass shooters are motivated by the fame and notoriety that they get in media coverage. You usually get front page profiles on their whole family and it feels to me like maybe the lightbulb moment is going off and there's less attention now, although maybe I'm gonna end up being wrong, but less attention in terms of the name and the notoriety being given to these guys because that to me is the one thing that those of us with big platforms can work on. We try to do that on the show, not publicize and make famous the shooters unless there's somebody that the authorities are looking for, hey, this person's on the run. I think that's obviously a different scenario, but in terms of a captured shooter, I don't think we should allow them to be famous. And so there's the heroes who took down the shooter and saved lives in the process. We just heard from one of them Richard fierro there, army veteran. You know, clay, that the politicization of this, I know that it has now just become what we expect, particularly from Democrats when it fits a certain narrative. Immediately it turns into this crazy person did a thing and it was awful and horrible, therefore, because I don't like your politics on some unrelated issues. You better bend the knee and agree to do what we tell you to do, or else you're the reason that this happened. I mean, it's a, we talked about stochastic terrorism yesterday, Tucker mentioned it last night on his show as well in the opening monologue. And there really is this effort to try to emotionally bludgeon people into submission on things that have nothing to do with an actual act of violence like this. And you know, you saw this on a very different level, obviously, people no one lost their life. I mean, Paul Pelosi is fine. But even after the Paul Pelosi assault, and I know they're look, here's an outstanding question that has not been resolved about that. And people have a lot of them. But there are two different law enforcement agencies who have two different stated positions on whether Paul Pelosi answered the door himself or not. That matters. It matters from a security review perspective. It matters from a we should know all the facts and the positioning of this perspective. The more we learned about this guy, do pay, for example. And this just all goes to how violence the media will even, it's not just when it fits a narrative, they will mold the nerve. They will form a narrative and then try to use it for political purposes, explicitly political purposes, do paint was a guy who said he was Jesus. Like literally said he was Jesus, lived under a tree, thought he was living in a computer simulation at one point was a 9 11 truther. I think his partner slash girlfriend was the nudist, but I think he was protesting. I'm not an expert on his nude practices, but I'm just saying, you know, I think that she was more of the, but he probably did some nudity. Yeah, he's an illegal alien nudist lunatic who thought he was Jesus lived under a tree. He thought he was having a computer simulation. If they were being honest, what they would do is they would say, this is all the hallmarks of somebody with extreme mental illness likely and extreme level of schizophrenia or some form of personality disorder. And this is a guy who honestly should be in a mental health facility, a criminal mental facility, but one where he's instead it's, well, you know, he did this and pizzagate QAnon Trump. It's Trump's fault in all of Trump's supporters fall. They have to be held accountable by voters which they said this right before the election for the violence against Paul Pelosi and we sit here and it's like, you know, the left actually justifies its political violence sometimes. I mean, we could go back and look, you know, we sit here and say, look, what happened to Paul Pelosi is horrible. The guy's a senior citizen. You got to hit with a hammer. He almost died. It's awful, right? If that was your grandpa, my grandpa, we'd be, you know, we'd be outraged and we would want justice and anyway, we all, and that's the way the right feels. And honestly, and the way the right feels about the shooting it happened in Colorado Springs is that's heinous and evil and the Democrats turn around and say, anybody who still believes in their Second Amendment rights. Anybody who thinks it should, they're part of this problem. Meanwhile, our audience of Second Amendment rights supporters are all like, if I were there, I would have risked my life to stop the shooter. I would have been Richard fierro. I would have risked myself to save the lives of the LGBTQ individuals at this nightclub

"AP sports I'm Tom Miriam, World Cup soccer, the U.S. held England to a scoreless draw in their second match of the opening round. But the Americans now must be to ran on Tuesday in order to avoid elimination and advance to the knockout round. The NBA feasted on 14 games of the day after Thanksgiving, the Celtics and bucks want to remain atop the Eastern Conference standings while the sons and nuggets did the same out west. 13 NHL games led by the bruins setting a league record by becoming the first team to win his first 12 home games after three two overtime win over the hurricanes. Plenty of college football action on Black Friday and the only game matching two ranked teams tulane edge Cincinnati 27 24, Florida state UCLA and Texas also posted wins. Fresh update on "buck" discussed on The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show

"More of the clay Travis and buck Sexton show sound off starts now. Buck. The World Cup will start in like ten minutes. Before you talk about the World Cup, can I just, I have a correction. I needed some chalk today to increase my focus and my energy as I was talking. It is stochastic. Not to chastise, stochastic terrorism. But this is one of these moments where I like to learn about things by reading. So I'm reading about this all the time. I've actually never heard the word said. I've only read it hundreds and hundreds of times. So this is one of those play noses. How many words I mispronounce? If you, if you mispronounced many words as me, you wouldn't be able to sleep at night. I hate getting things wrong, and I hate saying things wrong. Sony, I just want to correct that. Now we can talk it so does stochastic, by the way, stochastic terrorism you might say, well, I was in the counter terrorism center of the CIA. You know how many times I heard about that? Zero. It is a new thing that they've taken from statistics that they now talk about in the context of terrorism. But yes, it is a hard, a hard C and now clay. Sorry, thank you for letting me correct that and also obviously I could use some chalk chalk dot com CHO Q dot com today. The World Cup, sir. What do we got? So the World Cup starts in about ten minutes. U.S. is playing whales. And we are small favorite in this game. Our group for people out there who may not be paying attention is Iran. It is Wales. It is England and the United States. So we play England, I believe, on Friday, and then Wales, sorry, Iran, to finish out the group stage, two of the four teams will advance from the group. The Iranian team buck, I don't know if you saw this. They refused to sing along with the national anthem of Iran, which is evidently a huge tradition in their country. Every player refused to sing to stand up for the people protesting against the Iranian government. Now, this is actual real bravery, unlike what we often refer to in the United States when somebody takes a knee for the national anthem and they end up getting a shoe contract or their own television show, like this is potentially a something that could put some of these players in prison. It could lead to violent acts against them or their family. This is a pretty brave act. So I think this is going to turn into a big story internationally, but I asked people out there how they thought the U.S. would do in the World Cup. And I also said, I gave people an option. I don't care, I hate soccer. This was a Twitter poll. What percentage of my audience book in this poll? Do you think said, I don't care. I hate soccer. Of your audience? Yes. Of extremely enthusiastic SEC football fans? 60% of them hate soccer. 37% said they don't care. They hate socks. Oh, that's not that bad. That's not that bad. About two thirds said they care. What percentage of our audience listening right now? Do you think we'll watch a World Cup game involving the United States men's team? 10%. Only ten. I think so. See, I would go because Friday the game is happening on a holiday when a lot of people are at home looking for things to do. I actually think something like half of our audience will watch one of these games. I mean, I would like to watch the U.S. play England just because the British are better than us at two things. Soccer and making crumpets. And this will upset them if we are able to beat them. So that makes me very happy. But we probably won't beat them, which is the fact that this is the other part of it. I want to read, I'm always rooting for America. But it's hard for America and soccer because we tend to do not well as the men's team tends to not do well. We talked about this before the show started. You are watching with your brothers. And so you are going to try to avoid completely what the results are of this game until later in the afternoon. But beating Wales like, isn't that kind of like beating the principality of Monaco or something? I mean, let's be serious, folks. These whales even really a country. I know it is. People are like, yes, it is. Kind of a small favorite. So I'm gonna have this game on. I'm gonna try not to react for the first half because the first half is being played in the final hour of our game. And I just, I can't not watch sports alive. I've tried the DVR at everything else. My phone blows up. People are texting me because they assume that I watch every sporting event. So I basically would just have to turn my phone off and not allow myself to watch it at all. So it's starting in about 5 minutes. And I'm curious how much it's gonna go. To your point, though, on the Iranian on the Iranian team, not taking a stand because of the crackdown on the protest that's been going on over there and the, look, Iran is a totalitarian theocracy. I mean, it's the government there is evil and depressive, and that is all very true. But when they do that, they don't get a bigger Nike contract. They don't risk. They are actually going to suffer the consequences of standing up for what they view is moral. In this country, when we have athletes that are taking a knee or that are so upset about the cops and they're wearing the hoodies or whatever they're doing, their marketability goes up. That's right. They get nothing but celebrity saying, look at how brave stunning and brave they are, so it's a very different thing. Being a freedom

Packed Black Friday sports schedule

"AP sports I'm Tom Miriam. On Black Friday, the NBA and NHL were as busy as the shopping malls. 14 NBA games and 13 on the ice were played the day after both leagues were off for Thanksgiving. The Celtics added to their league leading record by beating searching Sacramento as Jason Tatum scored 30 with help from the Boston bench. I think when we might have been down for the end of the half of ten, he knows because of those guys came in and just changed the momentum. The bucks kept pace by beating the Cavaliers thanks largely to a 35, ten third quarter in which Bobby port has played a key role. Felt good for us overall as a basketball team, because it felt like we was playing books, basketball, for a chance. Victories also for the Lakers heat suns, warriors, nuggets, grizzly sixers pacers, rockets, thunder hornets, and the trailblazers in overtime over the Knicks. NHL, the bruins became the first team to win its first 12 home games in the season, as they beat the hurricanes three to two in overtime on David pasternak's gold. Big win for us, obviously, and coming from behind, you know, after Thanksgiving, the game is never easy, so it's good with. The devil's after having their 13 game win streak snap bounced back with a three one win in Buffalo. Other winners, the capitals penguins islanders red wings, Maple Leafs Canadians kraken jets, senators kings and lightning, with Braden points scoring too early goals. I think both teams were into it right away. It was nice to get a couple goals for us early. Pretty good jump on the game. I thought it was a fun game. World Cup soccer, the United States finished in a scoreless tie with England as coach Greg berhalter's young team had the better scoring chances. Overall, pleased with the performance of the group, most importantly, the belief of the group, because that never wavered. The U.S. now must be to ran on Tuesday to advance to the knockout round. Plenty of college action on Black Friday, football winners included four ranked teams tulane, Florida state UCLA and Texas, and basketball top ranked North Carolina lost a wire with state. "Horizontal had 38 points in a one 17 one O two, Milwaukee win over Cleveland. The difference, according to Milwaukee's Bobby portis, was a third quarter in which the bucks outscored the Cavs 35 to ten. It was fun. You know, just the basketball was moving. Everybody was touching it. Everybody was running in transition, trying to get the basketball. And it's fun when you play like that and you know it's fun when we, you know, win as well. We got people starving and all across the Africa. Ukraine is in terrible shape, for instance, being tortured, country, people in China being locked in their own apartments through the COVID, and to be honest with you, I believe those companies do what they do to cut back on payroll in order to do what they do to keep our prices low. That's why they do what they do. That's why they have self checkout and all that kind of stuff. I don't know, it's just kind of with everything else that's going on in this world. It's just kind of sad to see somebody get so upset and cry and complain about something. Oh, a lot of people are a lot of people are fired up about this on the social media's Troy, but here's what gets me though. I don't mean to interrupt. Here's what gets me Troy. Hold on, hold on, I'll let you talk. What gets me as I hear your point there, but they're not lower in the prices. So New York is now an hour behind us. So figure it out. The total crypto market cap $823 billion Bitcoin, $16,000 exactly. I've seen it go into the 15s in the bump back up. Ethereum, $1101, B and B, $253, and where is Solana now? Solana is now look at this $11 at 67 cents. If I was going to pick Travis, one token that I think is done, I'm going to say it's Solana. I'm not saying the blockchain is going to die. I'm saying that as the place because it's so closely tied to FTX and the money that came from there, that why would you build on Solana now when there's so many other options? Yeah, when you look at their chart overall, the Solana price chart max when it was sitting around a few bucks if you box. And then, you know, you look at, you just kind of lay that over what happened with ICP Internet computer protocol, how FTX and then sort of thrashed that and blew the price up and then shorted it all the way down, took that money that they gained from a legitimate product. And then started pumping up Solana. And then you can literally see when it happened when Solana was like last while it was December of 2020 and then pom pom pom pom. And then really started pumping in July of 2021. All the way up to over 250 bucks. In November of 2021, during 20 months, now it's 13 bucks, 11 bucks, 12 bucks, something like that.

San Francisco Launches Transgender Guaranteed Income Program

"Story out of San Francisco where they are planning on giving transgender people. I have this story here in my fingers, ladies and gentlemen. Transgender citizens of San Francisco are now eligible for $1200 a month. Now, there are a couple of there are two big bombshells in the story. First of all, that there are going to be giving transgender people $1200 a month for the next 18 months and it's your money. So if you are a straight person, let's say you're a heterosexual. Like, well, grace is still on vacation, but Kyle is a good heterosexual person. Straight guy. And Kyle, you may be hard up for cash, but you would not be eligible for any of this money. What if I identify? Well, I'm going to get to that because I'm going to take you through the checklist, and that's a good question. What if you identify? But here we are, ladies and gentlemen, and we'll use Kyle as an example in just a minute, because I actually have the program application for this nonsense. And you better get ready because this is coming to your neighborhood. Mayor London breed says the program will provide economically marginalized transgender people with a guaranteed income. And again, if you're a straight person down on your luck, you need some cash, you don't even have a place to live. Well, tough cookies. Because you're not eligible. But if you're confused about your pronouns, you got a shot at the 1200 bucks. But here's the other bombshell in all of this. It's not the fact that we're creating some sort of a socialist communist style government in San Francisco, where you're going to be getting a specific amount of money from the government for doing nothing. And by the way, this is no strings attached money. That in itself is a bombshell.

"buck" Discussed on Counter Apologetics

"To counter apologetics. I'm your host, Emerson green. And today we'll be discussing the participation the Odyssey. My guest today is John buck, who you might remember from episode 100 of this podcast. John and I debated the existence of God, and something that came up a couple times was John's participation theodicy. So I thought it was worth taking some more time to talk about the participation theodicy that John brought up during our debate. As I say in the conversation, it was a debate. That was kind of keying in on a couple of things that I don't like about the theodicy. I had to do it in a fairly short time frame. And here we actually have the space to expand on things and more carefully explore the terrain. And not just talk about the limitations of the theodicy, but some of the advantages it has over other theodicies. And though I certainly don't think that the participation, the Odyssey is capable of accounting for anything like all of the evil in our world, I think it's at least ajar that's on the table to make use of an analogy that will become clear as our conversation progresses. But I think we explored some interesting territory here. Ultimately, I think it was a productive and collaborative discussion. I think that's more what I'm aiming for these days, something that's a lot more collaborative in spirit. So without further ado, here's my conversation with John buck. Welcome, everyone. FBI's Elvis Chan Is a Key Figure in the Digital Censorship Landscape

"There is a senior agent and FBI agent in the San Francisco bureau, his name is Elvis Chan. Yeah, I'm not kidding his first name is Elvis. And that's strange enough. I guess his parents were fans of Elvis. But his last name is Chan. In any event, this guy is the linchpin. He's the key. For FBI involvement and in some ways, Biden administration involvement in digital censorship. Why? Because he's located in San Francisco. He has deep connections with the 300 or so Silicon Valley companies and platforms that are based in San Francisco. He has constant dealings with them. He evidently was actively involved not solely involved, but actively involved in the suppression of the Hunter Biden story. And this guy has been sort of, let's call it in hiding. And by hiding, I don't mean literally in hiding. I mean that the government is trying to shield him from coming forward and testifying. Now yesterday I had on the podcast representative Ken buck of Colorado who talked about a lawsuit that has been filed by the attorneys general of Louisiana and Missouri. And the purpose of the lawsuit is to ferret out information about the full extent of the FBI's and the Biden administration's collaboration with these big tech platforms. And so as part of that lawsuit, the plaintiffs demanded that this guy Elvis Chan come forward and testify. Now the Biden administration tried to stop that and they basically said that this is a guy who did not directly order Facebook or meta to suppress the Hunter Biden story. He's not the guy who did that. And the plaintiffs are like, we're not saying he is the guy that solely did that. Maybe he was part of a team. He certainly has had extensive connections with these Silicon Valley companies. And we want to find out the full extent of the FBI's involvement,

Putting Freedom Back on the Map

"We've been talking about freedom and why freedom is scary. Freedom is scary because it requires responsibility. It requires maintenance. It requires cultivation. I sit here and I was thinking about the polls and there's so many people that I've been donating to and I'm not a rich man. I borrow money from Sean McConnell all the time. So, you know, but I've been trying to Dole out money here and there across the nation, 25 bucks, or 50 bucks here, sometimes as much as a hundred where I can afford it. And actually, I've been stretching beyond sometimes my comfort zone because I believe that freedom is that important. We have an opportunity to win races that we've never stood a chance at. Are we having for quite some time? Lee zeldin in New York. Tiffany smiley. Drazen. All of these names both Doc in New Hampshire. We have opportunities to put freedom back on the map. And I sit here and I think I want to be a part of that. If it's $5, $10. I want to be a part of that. I want to be a part of restoring our conservative values. Are judeo Christian heritage in America because it works and it's best, but if we don't share it, if we don't speak up, how will people know?

I meant <Speech_Male> to call Mary Allen. <Speech_Male> Then I <Speech_Male> was like, mom, <Silence> I'm <Speech_Male> with the boys. <Speech_Male> I'm <Silence> sorry. <Speech_Male> Two minutes later, <Speech_Male> ring. <Speech_Male> Hello. <Silence> Oh, <Speech_Male> I did it again. <Speech_Male> It's like, <Speech_Male> okay, brittnay. <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Stop <Speech_Male> calling, how do you <Speech_Male> remember my number? <Speech_Male> But that's the <Speech_Male> remark. "Natalie speaking at my wedding with Michelle and I had to turn my chair and face the other way. It was so embarrassing because I was like snot was falling out of my nose and I couldn't stop it barely hear her because I just was crying so much because she had the guts to get up there in front of all those people and talk about me as a dad. You know, that was the most, know, the most emotional, I think I've ever been in my life. Yeah, so I don't know. But so when Oliver talks about that stuff about kind of going the polar opposite of his dad, I think about that a lot that, you know, just being more verbal with my children or Michelle or anybody is doing anything for me. I'm always like, hey, I just want to tell you that what a great job. And I think being the son of or in your case, the daughter of somebody like our larger than life looming presence that is dad, makes you forces you unless you're a complete asshole to try to kill everybody with kindness because they're probably predisposed to thinking you're going to walk in thinking you're the king or the Queen and you want to go, no, I don't feel that way at all, which we don't. Yeah, you want to prove the point. That you're not that. So it actually works out the net of it is good because you don't unless you just take it all in and you're just insufferable, which I'm sure happens, but I don't think you would last very long in this business. I think you'd get flushed out. Yeah, for sure. I mean, I think that I'm lucky to do what I do just being in radio, and what I do compared to what you do is not the same. I mean, I'm on a.m. radio in the middle of the day in the middle of America. You know, but it's a daily thing, and I enjoy it. And tune into the carny show. On the big 5 50. We've gone this whole time and I only want to go a couple more minutes. And we haven't really talked about mom. Mom was an actor on Broadway, took acting classes, had this career, and really did take everything that she had done to that point when she got pregnant with me. And just kind of took that and put that to the side and became Jack buck's wife and Joe and then eventually Julie buck's mom and was as involved as any parent, you know, almost enough for two because dad was not involved that way, that she, so we were so lucky to have such a strong mom that could handle dad being gone as much as he was while raising two kids

"I know what it's like to be Jack buck's son. And follow him into these booths across America and to do baseball and football and all these different sports and be compared to a Hall of Fame announcer. And now you have another layer because in the town we live in, your jackbox daughter, your Joe buck's sister, Natalie has that who's gonna act and is acting and you know, oh, that guy on TV that's his daughter and, you know, for people old enough, that's Jack buck's granddaughter, whatever it might be. But in this small town, I would imagine that gets a little tiring. You know what? I could say that it does because in some ways it does, but at the end of the day, if you weigh it all out for me personally, there's so many good things that have come out of that for myself. My kids, our mom, your kids, and really the place where we live, which is St. Louis, Missouri, that I can't, I mean, I could pull negative things out of it if I wanted to. But I choose to just say, oh my gosh, this is like, it makes me feel good to be able to pop into our local drug store over to the companion sandwich shop and have 25 people say hello and in two minutes. Now for you, it's different, not everybody recognizes me. I'm on the radio, I'm in St. Louis, Missouri. You go anywhere, and you really can't be as anonymous as I am. So I can kind of take that card out of the deck as much as I want to. So to speak, reveal as much as I want to in a lot of cases where people know you and they know what you look like. Does that make sense? Yeah, but I mean, do you struggle with the idea that the only reason you're on radio? With the self doubt stuff, just like me, oh, the only reason you're doing this is because you're jackbox son. The only reason why you're doing this is because you're Jack buck's daughter. Like, do you deal with that? Is that the voice inside your head? Of course it is. I mean, I would be lying if I said that wasn't there. I mean, we have a tax line at the radio station on the Kearney show, the big 5 50 K TRS, where we get texts from listeners. And they will sometimes say stuff like that. I mean, I have one guy that texts in all the time. And he calls me Julia, my name's Julie. And he's like, you're so braggy. I was talking about the kind of apples that I like that I like honey crisp apples, and he's like, sure, only you, you would be able to afford those fancy apples. I'm like, oh my God, I can't even talk about what kind of apples I like without being criticized. So that's there. And then there's that little piece of, you know, even, you know, coworkers or even sometimes people that you work for want to put that little thing in there, but I've been on the radio for since I was in my early 20s and it is what it is, you know? I mean, I do the best I can. I still do it, and I'll do it as long as

"Yeah. I can't talk for two years. I think it was ten and 11, and then it was 12, which would make 1981. You're right, because we lived at Williamsburg. Yeah, I remember that. Yes. I would say 1981, and we went away. We drove, they drove us from Missouri to Massachusetts. We were picked up by people in white coats. Mom and grandma. Drove us in a station wagon. With wood paneling. With wood paneling from St. Louis, Missouri to the Berkshire mountains in Massachusetts to a quote unquote. I mean, it's not what they build it as, but it was a fat camp. You showed up there and for, I don't know how long we were there three weeks, four weeks. Four and a half. Three solids, and it was, I mean, there were so many subplots happening. They sent me starved you. Are they starved do they sent me with miss piggy stationary? And I always read into that. And that was always upsetting. Who sent you with miss piggy stationary? Mom and grandma, I don't think they meant anything by it as an adult, but as a kid, I was like sitting there at fat camp going, why am I writing home from fat camp? On note cards with a pig. I don't know. Hello. I'm two pounds today. Kirby? I think I lost literally 14 pounds week one. And no one in the history of the camp had ever used to pay phone until they met me. I worked these people over time until I got a hold of the phone. I was like, I have to come home. I can not do this. I can not be away from home. Well, the fucking thing. I had been two years to this camp in Missouri near Hannibal called a can of cock. Christian camp. It was a Christian camp. Which was, I'm not even going to go down that path.

"So there you go. But that's a long time ago. So now here he is. I think I saw him shirtless on that once. You've seen him shirtless in Cabo. I've seen him shirtless. Look, I should never be shirtless. I've joked on this podcast that I shower with my shirt on if anybody else is in the house at the off chance that they walk into the bathroom, but Oliver is really comfortable with being shirtless and basically naked walking around our place in Cabo. Dropping odd hairs around the kitchen area, but for some reason, he just doesn't care. However, a bringing all of this up because he actually cared today. This is the first time he's actually had some sort of feeling of being less than. Yeah. And being self conscious. Being self conscious, yes, that's what I'm getting at. I lived in a constant state of being self conscious. I'm here now. That's where I'm residing. You're in you reside in self conscious land. Yeah, oh my, well, you know that. Yeah. I know, but okay, so here we are. We have not done a podcast for a couple of weeks. Margot and Josh have been kind enough to step in and do a little recap and a preamble as we used to call them and roll old episodes of daddy issues. Here we are recording on the 10th of August. 2022, and I have recruited my sister Julie buck Brooks. Who is a red hot radio personality in St. Louis, Missouri? To join me much like I had Natalie, my daughter joined me when Oliver was doing whatever Oliver was doing the last time he couldn't show up. So now I've got Julie. I'm running out of family members. Dad's dead. Mom is incapable. And to bring that up and that too. I have trudy, I have Michelle, but she's put herself in the penalty box for this podcast. Because of a past appearance when we had Aaron on two, I think we're going to rectify that on his other podcast. But I'm talking throughout this whole thing because I'm going to interview you, Julie. I'm going to, I'm going to interview you about you about us about our family history and maybe just maybe on this episode of daddy issues, as I talk to my, can I say your age? I mean, I don't care. Just nobody asked me if Joe's older or younger than me. That's all I ask. I have to say this. You're three years younger than me. I'm 50. I don't care. Say it. This isn't bad. And mother of three boys who are all in college, all thriving and making the family proud day after day, but now here we are ready to talk about Joe and Julie buck. Should I lay down? I feel like this is gonna be a major therapy sesh or get out the Kleenex. I mean, what roads are we gonna go down? I just, just like I do with Oliver, I have prepared absolutely nothing for this podcast. So we're gonna see where it takes us. This is like Magellan.

"I'm thinking it's me because you've taken an Oliver pose. Do you think we should have Josh cut out anything about me ripping on Oliver at the beginning? You need to keep that part in because this is exactly how you and I both work. We say stuff and then we're going to be thinking about it. For the next hour. I heard Margot say no. No, because you know Oliver, you could say, literally, I'm not easily offended. And Oliver will say something that I could almost find offensive, and he'd still like, no, leave it in. We're not cutting anything out, nothing. Meanwhile, middle one's my career. And somehow he gains more followers. I'm like, I can't even be associated with that. I'm now looking forward to the entire buck family calling me at three in the morning to cut stuff out. Josh is like, Josh has been so great. I've said Natalie's stuff. He's helped her, right? Yeah. As has Margot. Yeah. Yeah, that's true. I mean, I love doing that. Doing that. I hate putting together video. The clips. It takes a long time, and it's a little it can be tedious, but when you get it just right and you get a really good, I know it 'cause I'll send them to everybody in our group text. And sometimes people won't say anything, but when Joe hearts it or says like, love it. Immediately, I'm like, all right, I nailed it. That's the one. And it feels so good. Oh, you're waiting for that feedback. I'm sorry. I need to be better. Do you know how annoying it is to make those? You know how long it takes her to make those videos a long ass time. I couldn't even begin. I'm in the television business. And I couldn't do that if my life depends. So tedious and hard. So and she does a great job. So you're really good at it. Margot and Josh are easily the MVPs of this thing because they keep it on the tracks. And, you know, Oliver and I are no way. They're hurting team effort. Team effort. Yeah. Oliver and I are the saint and north. To north or west, what's his name? Northwest. Northwest. It's a girl, though. Okay. I didn't even know that. I've learned yet another thing. I take a picture.

"First of all, you and all of our are so sometimes mean to each other. It makes me sad, honestly, because do you think he gets a little bit sensitive when you say stuff like that? Because you're always talking about how he's never on time. Maybe it's just a problem that he has. Do I worry that he gets upset about it? No. Does he get upset about it, possibly? I know. Yeah. Oh, Margot said, no, only when we say things about his appearance. Does he get a little sensitive? Like his crow's feet and his whatever. And yet nobody is more of a shellman on Instagram than my friend Oliver Rutledge Hudson. His crow's feet will why doesn't he just get Botox? Oh, he just got like a laser laser thing where he put numbing gel on his face for a day and then they went in and chiseled the dead skin and cracks out of his face. But yeah, that's the only thing that he really gets upset about. And Kate will give him trouble about it. But I mean, he's a ruggedly fine looking handsome man. I'm objectively attractive person. Yeah. He's like, I feel like he would appeal to any age. He's just like a good-looking person. Speaking of Botox and all that, I saw Top Gun for the second time last night. And do you think that months prior to shooting Tom Cruise puts a shit ton of Botox in his face so that it dissolves kind of halfway right up until right before he starts to shoot. Like I always wonder that with guys. Well, here, that's an interesting question. And I have an answer to that. I'm never going to talk shit on Tom Cruise because I love Tom Cruise. I love Tom Cruise. I mean, he's got the whole side to his life that everybody's willing to overlook now with the Scientology stuff, which is fine. But when John ham was on the set, shooting that movie, I was doing the World Series and they were watching some of the World Series while they were shooting. And ham mentioned to TC as John calls him. That he and I are friends. And Tom Cruise is like, no way. My God, I love Joe buck. He's so great at what he does and blah blah blah. "Back in clay Travis buck Sexton show Buck I want to talk about that We just kind of hinted at this at the open of the show But I am reading about all of the craziness that is going on in Shanghai right now As they have basically locked down Shanghai over COVID and they continue to try to implement a zero COVID COVID zero policy in China and they've argued that it's a legitimizing factor for their government but the result has been not that many people have gotten COVID in terms of natural immunity and also whatever vaccine they are distributing in China is even less effective than the vaccines that we have in the United States and we have the most western democracy That's not good That's not good at all So I couldn't believe this They're locked down is so stringent They have as you said people that are drones coming around and telling people not to attempt to have any freedom but also they aren't allowing people to go outside and walk their dogs I don't think most Americans even understand how stringent their lockdowns are They have what they're doing is a real lockdown We've never even did real lockdown in this country and it was disastrous what we did Don't get me wrong but in China they were soldering people into their homes I mean actually like you know soldering the door shut So you can't even come outside You couldn't come out no matter what right And we have the now it's in Chinese but we just think you should hear the sort of 1984 orwellian vibe here Imagine you're in Shanghai you're 30 40 stories up you're trying to either sing out your window or you're calling out to your neighbors because you happen to believe your home and what a week now and this is what you hear.

"Imagine being whatever happens with aaron and being seventy years old and thinking back on my first two kids and being like oh my god like i don't know them i never have. I have no idea who the fuck they are. I knew him as twelve and thirteen twelve year. Old kids and frozen tie so gnarly. I know that everyone not everyone. A lot of people have had. You know abandonment issues or parents who have left and he sort of just talk about it and you go through therapy but when you really sort of dig in to what that must feel like not for you sort of the victim so to speak but for you know the the other on the other side of it. That's gotta be so difficult you know especially if you have remorse and if you are reflective and few if you are sort of not towards the end but like you said on the on the second nine and you're going through every piece of your of your world and thinking man i missed out. I i have two children in. I don't know the fuck they are and they're forty-five-year-old forty five years old. That's so weird. I mean imagine not knowing that earlier. Trudy i mean imagine me not knowing wilder or rio this is was so fucking crazy so credit and i just can't imagine and i know we've had people that we've talked to on this podcast. Listen that have had abandonment issues and have dealt with this and i just can't imagine being a parent and being like yeah whatever and just skipping out and not regretting that every minute of every day to the point where you would be probably driven back in there to go all right. Let's make this work or gays not gonna work between mom and dad but dammit i'm going to be a part of this kid's life and i'm gonna do everything i can to make sure that this kid knows that i love him or her and it's funny because as you get older or i only speak for myself as i get older and i've been through all my shit with my dad and personally dealing with whatever it was you know the roles have reverse. We've we've talked about this before. But i feel like the older one now. The more mature one the one who has to take the initiative and make sure that when he is on his death bed that he has no regrets. If he doesn't have the capacity to do it emotionally. And i do. I feel like it's my job to almost reach out to him and give him what he can't take himself because he just doesn't have the tools you know. So if i can give that to him before he dies and he's allowed to sort of move on to whatever. The next chapter is without guilt. Then i think that's my job to do that. You know what i mean. I don't know if it's your job not job very big of you in that just speaks to where you are in life. You've got a great wife. You've got great kids. You're grounded person. You somehow found your way through your childhood and the craziness that as a saint louis in and as a midwesterner i see the la life wondering how in the world you ended up the kind of person that you are. And i think it speaks to. Your mom gets mixed occurred in your sister and everybody that you have around you that you lean on to become the man that you've become a now you're in a position where you can reach out an olive branch to your dad and it's completely flipped and you have the upper hand on that now because it's almost like what what can he say. What can he do you. Go back and go. Hey you know about these past thirty years. Sorry about that. I mean what do you say nothing to say. No and your dad yourself so understand it now more than everybody or anyone you understand it. That's what i tried to get across in my book which my half brothers and sisters didn't really get what i was saying was there were a couple snarky things i put in there but now as a man who's gone through divorce and who has seen what it does to kids. I understand why when i came into the world in nineteen sixty nine a houseful of six children and a wife and ex wife. They didn't like me. And because i represented to them the end of their your nuclear family and that's just human nature so and now. I understand that better than ever because i've gone that down that path of trying to make sure. Everything's okay with natalie. And judy before i try to make sure i'm okay myself and now blending natalie intrude michelle now blending natalie trudy with michelle blake and wyatt making sure they know that they've not lost one ounce of their standing with me and they're as important now as they were when they were to that that's been my life goal non calling field of dreams game. It's it's i want to make sure the people that i love know how much i love them. That's that's the main thing. Yeah yes all the matters and you've done good. It was rocky at the in the beginning. But you know things smoothed out more than out you know. Yes and i have letters that have written to them letters. They've written to me stuff that i don't keep a lotta that stuff but that and i had a whole wall of things that my girls wrote to me over the years that was in my old room that will go up in some part of this new house of father's day cards and just these different just because notes that they would write me a pomp up before an all star game when my voice was wrecked than any ami. That's sitting behind me or any whatever were they actual written letters. Yes it's it's funny. They were right in that sweet spot of still writing letters. I mean i don't think passed a father's day card when they're twelve and thirteen and under that i will get anything. Handwritten just because of the world that we live in today it's gonna be rotc f. l. And every every correspondent gatt from your kids are going to have those little sure. It's like hello f. Hell she my god dad. Where were you had such foam. Oh that i was not there when you were in ab which. What is on your shirt. I can't for the life of me. I can't tell if that share. Oh no okay. You talk about sort of short life. You know what i mean at the end of the day and the grand scheme of things and who who really gives a shit. And i just got a unsolicited texts from my dad. A few days ago. And he said paraphrasing but it was up reflective. Hey you know thinking about you a love. You just know that i love you more than you know and i think about you every day and i know i was. I wasn't a good dad. You and kate. And and kurt you know. Basically i am proud. Come happy curcumin in your life and all this stuff and then he says he's sort of ending it with you. Know he goes like my life is like an acid trip. That's something he said. And it just sounded so reflective because i in that moment imagined him thinking back on his life he's seventy and just sort of going over it from the beginning and his dad bailing on him and him having a kid at sixteen and giving it up for adoption and then and then his been ma than we come along and bales and then his second you know family and then he he had that messes up and he's got a third he's probably lonely and sitting there thinking about his life and he's probably like holy fuck. What a fucking trip. You know what i mean. It's just gotta be scary when you sit wherever you are and there's more behind you than there is in front of you and i don't know what age you are when that happens. It's not fifty. It's before fifteen. Is i sure as hell don't expect a live to a hundred so and and then all those young life decisions that form the rest of your life so it's one thing you know he was making decisions back then that shape not just his life for the rest of time but the life of oliver the life of cape the life of goldie the life of his other kids in life of an almost everything just kind of like a bunch of tributaries that come off that and those decisions that he made carried major consequences. Oh yeah here. You are as a forty whatever. Five year old man. And you're looking back at your affected by what he did in a moment when he was going through whatever the hell he was gone through everything feeds off everything now areas going god. Well especially in you know this just being such a present dad and it being such an important part of my life i mean almost too much not too much but i just put a lot into it. I.

"Karen what's that he's dislikes to garlic so thin melts it in the pan. Good good yeah now. It was so. I told you this. I think off wind so to speak that. I talked to costner about costra. Wanted me to be the point person between him and mlb him and fox. And so i showed up to the rehearsal and made sure that anybody that was around him especially for my network. The people that i know that. Make all these video montages. Look so amazing. That he knew he could trust them. It would be like you know. He's a he's a creative movie making person. And now you're trusting the offshoot of this film to people at a sports network that you don't know and i trust me when i say this guy's name is t navarro. Who does all these specialties shoots. All these really cool things i said. When you see this you're going to be blown away by how this looks with you walking now as a sixty five year old man through the corn out onto the field. You're going to be thrilled. And and it just was a win. That way. And i got to play catch with kevin costner on the field the night before the game. Maybe maybe maybe the real field of dreams happen. Maybe kevin costner has. Actually your father ever thought about that. God maybe this is from a whole other time. Maybe he came out of the cornfields. And jack buck is not your dad. But it's actually kevin costner and that's why having a catch with him. So emotional you weeping. I was i was thinking back to myself at twenty. Which is when the movie came out. Thinking back to where i was in life that was i had done one year of minor league baseball. And if you had gone back then and told me that in twenty twenty one. You're going to be doing a game between the white sox and the yankees on a field to the one where they shot this movie and you're going to play catch with the guy that was in this and dances with wolves and all the other things i would've i would've believed not i wouldn't believe you as pretty cool. I mean it was such a big success for the mlb. I wonder now of course field of dreams is big but would if they did because next year the ratings will not be as as. It just won't be. I mean the the the event itself was was exciting and drew a lot of people. But what if you did. Some blue is unique. It's no longer going to be unique. What if you would've played next year. At the durham bulls stadium from you know. Yeah somebody said that to me on a radio show. I did you know. Take take major league baseball to a small town. It doesn't always have to be yours. We'll iowa you can be in the badlands. You could do a game in maine somewhere. Where a lot of these communities by the way have minor league baseball so he's not like your landing on mars and playing baseball and it was like. Oh my god. What is this game. They all know the game that they haven't seen a major league game in their community. So yeah i think there's value worse. We'll hockey did it. New year's day that outdoor game you know and it's a blast. They did one in saint louis a few years ago and it was a tough ticket. I went down there. They played the blues and blackhawks. Played a game at busch stadium blackhawks. It was definitely the blues and it was so cool. I did want it in tahoe this past year where still so warm to play at midnight. Yeah but i yeah. I think taking these but that requires a lot of planning and money and all that other stuff but it's worth it. I think fun fun fun. You have a good time and you just have a good time a great job such a great job at time. Most of the great. It's awesome james holes power ripped me for my jeopardy. Guess he's like number two on the all time list. Money-wise oh really. What did he say he had to tweet. So i don't really get it. He's he had one where he ranked guest hosts and he had aaron rodgers. One may to And then ken jennings last. So maybe that was more. Rip on ken jenne. I don't i don't that that's their little inside joke. And i hear ken jennings by the way who are one of our wardrobe people at fox who i love and think of as a sister is doing the show with them and she says he's great and he thought it went well made in jeopardy but this guy james holes our said another two was like well. I hear they're gonna make you ever gets the job. Quit their other jobs. So i'm hoping. Joe buck it's job which was a rip on me. Who is this guy. He's number two on the money. List number two on the money list. One of the three gene guy that competed in the all star event. It was ken jennings him and then the bartender from new york who gives a shit. Who's this guy. Whatever i got. I got more people ripping me than they'd have more power than him so you know. Hey that's life. Eventually i'll be gone. That's the thing this with my dad. Eventually life moves on you. Think as a kid. I grew up thinking my dad hung the moon and in some cases even to this day people in saint louis hung the moon. But okay so then you're gone and then shipped just keeps going so nobody really cares. I don't know why in an i go to therapy for this stuff. And yet i really shouldn't care. I shouldn't care with the social media stuff. Because eventually i'm not going to be doing it and i'm going to look back and remember the games and remember the job ahead. I'm not gonna remember that. Other stuff i don't care it. And then that pack move onto the next person doing it. It doesn't matter did. Your dad criticized all the time but back in the day i mean he was signed to a four year. Deal a two year deal and then an option for another two years and after two years of doing the games on cbs. Now this was in his mid sixties in another direction and he was doing the games with tim. Carver and i saw the harsh side of what it what i do. Now and i saw letters that he would get crazy lunatic letters like racist and stuff from other countries in like. Hey it was hate mail. Mount hate mail takes the form of social media where it doesn't doesn't take any effort or really any ingenuity to get right at somebody. Just say hey at jack buck. Hey at oliver hudson at buck. Hey whatever and you know. If they're reading their stuff it goes right to their phone. Which somebody said to me and i know we're going on and on about this but it becomes almost more personal because it's on your phone like this is the thing i talked to my family. I'm not opening a letter from a nutjob says you suck. It's coming from a prison. Yeah i'm on my phone. So this is what i have pictures of my kids. And then the mike okay. Swipe make picture my kid on my screensaver..

"Of going. Yeah can i ask you one more question. Like yeah he's one more one more thing. Why was the kitchen door. Open if if you said so you. When oliver is gonna do is he just going to annoy the shit out of anyone that he's asking questions are so they just go fine. I killed her. Take me away. I'm done with these questions. You did give me an idea. you did. Give me an idea though because when i am promoting this show and they're asking me about the role which they always do. I'm gonna say that. I sort of base. My character off of colombo. I think that's a really fun because all the kids are talking about colombo are you wearing a trenchcoat in this funny okay. Well let's go back one. No no actually i like. I like my wardrobe. I have a beard long hair. T shirt jeans. He's a sort of an ot g fbi special agent. You know what. I mean off the grid. So that's perfect for you. You go out there or the beard yourself Well my hair was longer and eight and they chopped it a little bit. And then i came to the table read in front of the network and the studio and everything shaved my beard but had a full on mustache. I was like. Let's see how this. Because i would love to have a moustache and it was sort of a fifty fifty deal and so they said well you can keep the mustache but at least grow in the sides a little bit. Because did you want to incorporate some kind of a running your fingers through the stash. Oh yeah yeah yes is how this guy thinks you know Man kojak lollipop. You have a below nose hair All right so she's mad. I have a bone to pick with you up. An interesting word oliver. The word that you just brought up is priority. Now why would i be bringing up the word priority. Okay can i. I mean look. I know what went down and we need to give it to you. Yeah yeah no we we talked about. Are we talking about the same thing where he so you talked about it which is great so you heard his side which is awesome. We popol zits here. Babe we popalzai fits popalzai. It's there nothing is off limits. You haven't heard my friend if the actual three minute and twenty four second hall of fame speech which we would like to play for you. Okay and i want you to listen unbiased. If possible. And give me your candid and honest thoughts at the end of it. Okay can mess week for listeners out there that did not. let's just give them a little. Refresher joe came on and said oh how you said. How does it feel hall of fame or do you feel different. No i doubt. And here's why. Because i forgot to mention my wife's name but what i did do in my three minutes and twenty four seconds speech was. I told everyone about our love story. I basically did everything and said everything but her name. Yes okay. that's where we will leave it. Okay to listen to his speech. We're gonna listen to it. But i want to say one thing before this speech starts now. Let's math mcqueen. Mathematically break this down for a second three minutes and twenty four seconds. We're going to equate that to joe's entire careers of broadcaster. Okay where does michelle visner fit into that. Three hundred twenty four that three minutes twenty four seconds. You know what. I mean so. It's a long career now. Had been a part of europe important part. Obviously but you're short part. Let's let's get mathematical for a sector. Just digging. i hold deeper. I'm telling you that you're not helping. You're not helping me at all. Let's be clear about this. I have said many times since this hall of fame speech happened. I know this was not intentional. I know you had triple zeros. And a somebody telling you to get the health stage. I understand that but you just listened to the whole thing and said this is not about me it is. I don't wanna sound like some narcissistic asshole. I love you. I think you're beautiful. Your body's really great. I love your new boobs. Everything i love it all but it is about you. It is about you because he you know how much he loves you. You know how he was. He was exalted in. Sort of speaking about you and just forgot your name. Why did it matter because you care what other people think. That's it now just does it. Just listen to the speech and then we'll talk. Okay play keep it clear your mind. Any sort of bias thoughts of any opinion from further conversations. That might contribute to your listening abilities to be completely free. Clear an oaken okay. All right all right. Yeah just you can tell by my pace. What my mindset. Okay all right. I'm going to be quick. I'm only got two minutes so here we get all. I'm fifty two and learn. It's all about luck. And timing in life. Jack and carol buck met in the late sixties. In about nine months and three hours later i was born. I grew up and i live in saint louis home of the super bowl champion. Saint louis rams. My dad was my best friend and my mom taught me everything. I know her father joe listening played for the chicago bears in the early nineteen thirties and was named by george alice on his all time. Bears team my grandpa. Joe played with bronco nagorski and red grange. He was like a secondary to me. So i grew up with an enormous love for the bears. And for the history of this. Great league back at timing. My dad's career took off. When i was little and i saw a man who loved to go to work i saw what it meant to be a good broadcasts over more than that. I saw what it meant to be a good man. He grew up during the depression was shot in germany in world war two and made his name our name the hard way timing nineteen ninety-four fox gets the rights to cover the nfc cbs's out. I'm pissed off. Because my dad's at cbs and fox hires madden and summerall stockton and millen and they run out of money and then they allow me and kenny albert and thom brennaman to learn and grow in the job. I worked for incredible creative. People like david hill. Who won this award in two thousand seventeen. Ed goren and larry jones and george krieger back. In the day and after eight years doing football at fox pat and john madden left and it took three people to fill those two roles myself. Chris collins worth and troy aikman troy aikman. Who is sitting on this. Stage is everything. That's right about the game of football. He's everything that's right about the hall of fame. He has more integrity than anybody. I've ever met any deserves an emmy for his work on air. That is long overdue. It's our twentieth year together. And i share this award with my dear friend troy aikman. Thanks to producers. Mike burke richie zion's directors already kempner and rich russo booth mates dave schwab bil garrity and ed's fida. Lastly and i know it's time to go my editorial consultant. Steve horne has been a best friend and makes me appear smart smarter than i actually am. And it worked for people that trust me. And who. I'd rather have a drink with and eric shanks and brad ziegler and jake coleman than anybody in my life and finally timing is best when it has to do with your personal life. I was married in ninety three. And i got two great daughters. Who are my best friends. And smarter than dad. In natalie and trudy nine years ago i saw woman standing in a hallway at bronco stadium after a peyton manning game. I stalked her. I'm married earlier. That was seven years ago in three years ago. We had blake and wyatt. I stand here as jack and carol son. Joe in lily's grandson. Julie box brother natalie trudy blake in wyatt's daddy very proud.
