"Now lost 16 straight games versus teams ranked in the AP top 5, ten of those 16 losses came against Alabama. When you look at the crimson tide, if there are questions about this Alabama team, clearly, it's about their offensive line and their inability to consistently run the football. That job's probably not going to get that much easier as they lost one of their depth running backs in roydell Williams, meaning Bama is down to just two scholarship backs on their roster. As you begin to figure out Alabama's attack plan, not only for this game, but what we'll see in the iron bowl, and of course, the SEC championship game in a few weeks. Bryce young has been asked to take on a lot of the responsibility pain. He's going to go up against a defensive coordinator that we've seen so throw some wrinkles at young quarterbacks in the past. You think Barry Odom has anything in the tank to try and slow down Alabama? Probably not to win this game outright, but to keep the razor back in it for a full four quarters. I think that's the big question, right? Arkansas's defense kept them in the game last week at Death Valley. Hell bell is shoe to a 9% success rate on passing downs, shut down the explosive play in the second half. That's going to have to be the case again this week to stay within the three touchdown spread at Alabama. And this isn't really anything new. We've talked about Barry Odom's defense before, and he's a really good defensive mind. And he's got a style that you don't always see, although it's becoming a little bit more prevalent now with all the spread attacks. But the rush three drop a defense is confused, a lot of quarterbacks, a lot of young quarterbacks in the past. Odom does have some pieces now. He can rush four and 5, so Arkansas can be more versatile there. But for the most part, there's still an Arkansas defensive plays with 5, 6 or more defensive backs on the field. And their goal is to mix and match their coverages and give different looks pretty snap than what actually is coming post snap, confused quarterbacks, right? Lure them into some mistakes. And it's worked in some big spots. Picked Matt crawl off 6 times last year. Really confused two young quarterbacks earlier this season and Hudson card and Zack calzada. No doubt, bray young appears far better than the latter two, but he still young, you still learning. They're still going to be some bumps along the way. But what is interesting stylistically? Is Bryce young has been willing to take what you give him. He's shown to be the quarterback that can beat this kind of defense. He's not going to put the ball in harm's way. He's difficult to confuse just 1.8% of his passes have been turnover worthy only three picks on the season. Bryce young's style isn't one where he necessarily gets frustrated because you're not giving him the easy explosive over the top pass that allows bam and a score in one or two place. You know, he's willing to throw it short and intermediate. And I look at his numbers, that's actually where Bryce young has been best in those short and intermediate windows on passes beyond the line of scrimmage that don't travel 20 or more yards. Bryce young has a one 43 passer rating 22 touchdowns one pick, only two turnover worthy throws on a 192 attempts in that window area. The other thing worth mentioning here is Bryce young and Alabama played a similar style defense in old miss back in week 5. And Bryce young didn't really need to be a factor in that game because Bama was able to move the ball on the ground against a light box, and obviously Arkansas plays that similar style. Now give Arkansas credit. And as I mentioned, they have more SEC talent along the defensive line and because of that they are top 40 in line yard stuff rate and EPA per rush out. But I do think Alabama is able to have some traction on the ground here, Todd. If they're constantly seeing three and four and 5 men. Fronts from Arkansas. So I just, you want to go into this game and be like, you know, Alabama hasn't looked the best prior to the buy, came out, didn't really beat anybody. There's some holes there defensively. There's some holes offensively. They don't have the cast of weapons they've had in years prior. But just stylistically, you would think Alabama is going to be able to do enough to move the ball on the ground and light boxes and the way Bryce young is operated passing the ball. He's not the kind of guy that needs to hit 20 yard passes or he gets frustrated. He's more than willing to take that check down. That typically is the way you beat a defense like this. Yeah, I mean, I'm not quite sure on the other side, either what Arkansas can do to consistently move the ball against Alabama. I know when Arkansas played the number two team in the country at the time, George is still better defensively than Alabama. But they never really put together a threat whatsoever. I mean, KJ Jefferson wasn't able to make some of the decisions he needed to or their chunk plays just weren't available. And listening to you talk about Bryce young and this may sound like a hot take, but I'll throw it out there anyways. I'll make the claim pain that what we're seeing from Bryce young this year is much more impressive on a game to game basis than what we saw from Mac Jones last year. Because when I watch Alabama this season, and this isn't to knock John mechie who's been the short guy versus Jameson Williams is the deep threat. The weapons at the crimson tide have available for Bryce young are nowhere close to what Matt Jones had at his disposal last season in Alabama's romp to the national title. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, I think it's more so the offensive line. That's kind of the one area we've pegged. They can take Alex leather would back from the Raiders if they want them. You lost lane and Dickerson. You lost some guys along the offensive line that certainly aren't as good this year. I would say that Devante Smith and naja Harris are certainly better than what Alabama currently has at this juncture, no doubt about that. I am obviously a Mac Jones guy, so I'm not going to throw shade on him and you know we've kind of made these comparisons year after year with Alabama. It's like last year Mac Jones was better than to it. The year before. And he wasn't throwing to four NFL receivers. He was just throwing to one after jaylen one. And I don't want to see that weird that weird debate, but I would say like you, at least in their current form. There's a ton of talent. We don't want to play the Saab game for Alabama. No, no, no, no, no. I have a ton of weapons, just they're not quite developed to be as impactful yet. And this isn't throwing shade at Mac Jones by any stretch of the imagination. I'm just saying that Bryce young, I think, is doing quite a bit. We know why he was the highest rated recruit that Nick Saban had ever brought into the quarterback position. And I can tell you watching Mac week over week in the National Football League. There's a coach on the West Coast and Kyle Shanahan that I'm sure would much rather have Mack Jones leading his offense than the direction that organization went and Trey Lance as you wonder what could have been what should have been, or maybe even jets fans will see if the Zach Wilson experience pays off. But it's just a credit to a consummate, mature quarterback and what Bryce is brought for a lot of the reasons you outline that he's not surrounded with that elite building block offensive line and skill position talent and go this week. And we'll get a better idea of what Bryce can do when he's under duress in a couple of weeks when they take on..

"Out with a slight to live on the other side of the street. Hey thank you for the call. Chris for shit you asking me for help like i. I'm really going to have a lot of influence. There would daboh. Larry is in texas. And you're on the air all enjoying your show. I just had a couple of comments. I wanted to Get your opinion on bryce young alabama. I'm little fan. And i'm a little concerned about his ability on getting the ball down field. I went back and looked at the first games. And i noticed that he's only gotten about six or seven passes pass a twenty yard line on on the completion and i think really only five of them were even more than that a twenty yards And i was wondering where do you think about that. Because i think that's gonna really. They're not getting a good advantage out of their receivers If he can't get the ball thirty forty yards downfield. I agree. I think you gotta push the ball down the field to be successful overall and i. I don't know whether they're they're being careful with him or not. But i don't know how you disappointed in the biggest game of the year you would you. Would you would worry about stuff like that. It's a great question by the way. Well the other thing too. I want to give him credit for this With this physique. I appreciate the fact that when he goes on his rollouts and he sees that he can't through that he throws the ball away and doesn't tell you you do not lead to lose Bryce young right now exactly. I think his physical physique. I just hope he can get through the season. That ed this size and i appreciate the immune his brains and maybe getting rid of all when he he he needs to thank you very much pappy in houston. You're on the air happy. Yes i doing paul. Thanks for taking my call. Thank you just want the upcoming game this weekend with lsu at mississippi state. I was wanting to hear your analysis of what you think of how they may go and then also whether or not you're analysis would be any difference if there was more cowbell. You always need more cowbell don't you. I i am. I'm struggling with this game. Because i think. Lsu is better than what we've seen so far but I have very little to offer as a solid evidence. I think mississippi state is about what we thought they would be. somewhat underwhelming okay. Well thank you at this point. At this moment. I probably favor. Lsu still change but You have any words of wisdom to help me make them mind. I think it's all going to have to depend on what happens on the line or the weekend. Protect max johnson past whether we can get to the mississippi state quarterback. I know one thing. I know i don't think he want to think about the The possibility of losing this game that would be a a really destructive mechanism for the rest of the year. I tell you just can't afford it. Hey thanks for the call. Appreciate it nice of you to call let's let's go to randy in texas How are you randy fine. Fine fine it's nice Obliged you call kinda nervous. I think i've called like. Somebody sent it to me last night said. Can you believe i'm going there. I i'm i'm in. I start analyzing next year season. I know he did it. Alabama Dominates the SEC
"I thought today, the SEC. Really showed. The dominance and superiority that it has Over the rest of college football. If you had to say today. What Two teams are the biggest winners of the day. Who did you come out most impressed by who put together the best effort who got the biggest wins who really jumped off the screen who sizzled the most. I think both of those teams would be in the SEC. Alabama. Was special today. You can't really dominate a good opponent. Better than what we saw Alabama do earlier today. 1 44 to 13. They just continue to have a quarterback factory. Bryce Young. For 344 Yards, four touchdowns. For Alabama, So you know they ran the ball effectively. They had a big time wide receiver effort today. From Jamison Williams. I mean, this was It is Alabama. They went out there. And they were clearly the best

"Espn week away from football being played here in this conference tennessee and bowling green. Coming up on sec network. Looking forward to that. My name. Peter burns and you can catch me over an sec. This morning. along with chris. During mondays and fridays coming out this season and also over on. Sec now bore your phone calls here. The paul finebaum show as we roll on zach has been patiently waiting almost two hours in gainesville to come on the show. What's up zac. Welcome to the paul finebaum show. Hey peter how you doing. I think it's been a two thousand eighteen seventeen to talk to you man. it's been a been a moment. How are things in In gainesville chris during not burning down the town or anything. Oh it's great down here in gainesville. I mean we're just ready for that. Alabama game peter we. We just know we can win. We know that alabama doesn't have as much bag as what they normally do. We got a good shot here in the swamp. I three thirty you know what is what's the feel right now around the embassy jones right because you know dan mullen such a fantastic job going back to the utah days with alex smith. We seen them with dak prescott. And what your feet. I love i love emory and i have a lot of confidence an but i know you really be i call it. I forgot what i was gonna say but it's very important. It's very important. You hear this peter. Dan mullen is going to speak nick. Sabin before kirby smart does in georgia is going to lose to clemson here. This repeat it one more time for me. So i can write it down zach so you sound really smart if indeed it does happen. It's happening nick. Sabin is going to lose to dan. Mullen and then. Dan mullen will have beat nixon before kirby smart ass and what holding the meltdown in athens. When that happened here what will be happening. What do you think it happened. It will be great. I will tell you that. Obviously i mean we're talking about when when teams and coaches have pressure on them. I don't not sure if there's anybody that has more pressure on them than curb. Smart in athens if for no other reason. It's really kind of pass or fail grade now right like they've put themselves with the same expectation level as alabama yet. They haven't had nearly the amount of why i don't know why they act like they've been great for three of the past four years when they go to the national championship. Just just you know. And they won the rose bowl. Okay you won. You won the western people's national championship. You wanted to organ version of a national championship. Great great job. Go out there and one a real one. I mean we want to s national championships. The the hardest erin college football. So i mean paul last year i mean i call them this. I'm not going to budge. Espn sec network. you know. Get away with this past year. Everybody acted like it was impossible for florida. Georgia we're starting out. I mean my whole life. I've seen florida georgia. So i mean i. I don't know win. Florida did beat georgia. And then paul wants to and paul one a daklak. Oh towards the end of the towards the game. Everybody one of the big florida on you. Know georgia's player. Start getting hurt but i was saying floor is going to be georgia. You ho- offseason. But that's what everybody was saying last year during a during the lockdown. They were saying that Florida was gonna lose to georgia. And you know what happened. And i know i do. I know what happened. I also know when. Dan mullen was trying to put a bow on that on that team on that season and obviously ended up against lsu. I mean again. I think it was terrible. It was really embarrassing. I'm going to be the first one to say. It was very embarrassing but it but it seems like none of that should matter because they acted like florida. Being georgia was this. You know unthinkable thing. That's never happened before and it happened and it's happened many of times many times. I've been exactly they over the phone call rifled through a bunch of these. But i think you're right. I mean. listen. If you're dan mullen. You don't have the same expectations as curb. You can play loose. And i think when it comes down to x. factors. I think there's two huge x. Factors in the sec. This year that could change everything. One is hanes king who got named the starting quarterback kind of like a johnny manziel type character over in college station but seems to be a coach's kid so might have a little bit of a different off the field Success but the other part is is emery jones. i mean. Dan mullen talked about this earlier. This week he goes. He reminds me of a lamar jackson type talent. And that's heavy. Praise for for dan mullen. So we'll be interested to see how he puts them into this offense and who the next is for these wide receivers Let's go to nick and florida. what's happening. Hey peter so i gotta talk about this bam verse that cow college in texas. I mean do you think hanes king is better than helen. Mon and i say helen's because ban the a d. last year treated him like title nine. So you know. The obama is going to be much improved. We finally got an ed leading. Edge pass rusher and kris allen if bryce young is more than serviceable go undefeated. I mean really you get this you know is going to win just because it's an am When i look at this and again. I think i think i'll know a lot more about you. We're we're having this conversation right now. Nick in i'd say with eight minutes left in the third quarter of the miami game could be a whole different conversation right. That's why i think alabama's again. Everybody kind of wash rinse repeats. I think there is such an intriguing team because they've lost so much. And i wanna see how bryce young is going to respond to that. Because i think many defense going to bring a little bit something. I still think alabama wins that game. But i'm kind of curious to see how bryce young handles this offense that bill o'brien is going to be calling. I mean look. I think if alabama am we're gonna play week one bama opens up probably as a seventeen and a half point favorite in twenty one except being at. Am they probably give about four point. And the i. I guess what i'm saying is that as opposed to just thinking bama's not going to be that good the only big pieces bryce young teams more than serviceable. They're going to be elite. But defense is much better robinson's good meets. He's going to be good. The second series amazing you got past. I mean they're going to be very good. I just think just lobbying out a bomb that because they're playing at am or they're going to you know all burner whatever techs. Cnn probably lose three games this year. A nick thank you for the phone call. The fact is it's hilarious about how alabama fans get so fired up about this. I mean i'm not saying that. A non top twenty five team is coming in and going to beat alabama. I'm saying the best team in the country. Preseason has a chance to beat alabama. it's great because this chip on the shoulder is a fantastic to have right. I mean again. We had phone calls to the paul. Finebaum show saying the alabama is underrated in the fact that people still get triggered by. This is great. It's absolutely fantastic. I love alabama crimson tide fans. Let's let's go to will in north carolina. Thanks for joining. Peter burns here. The paul finebaum show. What's up will today. On the on the rings. I play pretty good. We'll shut a final sixty eight. Today i beat my old man by twenty. So i i had it rolling today my friend where you all that money will hollow No they would kick me out. Taylor's ours replaced. I'm over at piper. Glen so i get an opportunity to hack it around over there..

I'm sure you saw about about nick sabin. And and thrice yong l. And and all that. And of course a conversation with the new commissioner george clear about realized how the pac twelve is at least publicly. Viewing that situation and Other than that some pretty business as usual yell. Let's go to the david shaw comments because we haven't really had a chance to to delve into them. And anytime you dare mention alabama whether indirectly or directly nick sabin without paying the proper homage It's going to get a reaction. Take us through all that oil. You know what. I later tweeted hours later because i felt like the whole context of what david said was needed. Which is he actually started. Off by saying You know no ten of us in this room. Combined as smart as nick sabin And and his kinda then went on a rant about just. Obviously that was the recruiting. Obviously and he's right about that and You know then. He's and he started to kind of i kind of get off topic a little bit and you know making kind of comments that bryce young. He's never You know hasn't even started a game and he's getting supposedly getting this money. That's really what we're trying to do here with We've college college sports. And then i l and So i think he went off the rails a little bit and eventually you know kinda showed that that he really doesn't think that College athletes You know really deserve a chance at a at a free market Situation even with their health. Which is interesting brady. Because he even though. I think most coaches probably agree He's one of the few that i've heard. Maybe the only one. I've heard to be so bold. Yeah and it was. It was surprising You know one of the Guys who's done a ton about an. I economists from stanford stanford grad andy sports out here in the bay area and he made the comment that david shaw needs to walk down the road to its world class. You know Economy you know department at Economics department at At stanford and learn about you know free market economics and You know i think that You know but it kind of alliances. This he's the head coach at stanford you know and and so he gets to. Have you know these lofty your viewpoints and You know meanwhile savings out there touting the amount of money that that very strong getting on the on the recruiting trail. So it's different world and shaw's the coach at stanford You know can can live in that world prayed. Let's talk a little bit about the commissioner. And what he said today in real and we played the comments earlier in relation to expansion. I mean he. He put a great Face forward as the new commissioner but the pac twelve hasn't exactly been setting the woods on fire lately. What's it look like right now with all these dominoes falling. Yeah it's. it's definitely not surprising that that was his public stance. And i think it's a smart stance. I don't think it's tax will necessarily has to do something you know. I think cleve cobb you know comes from the entertainment world knows a lot about you. Know bundling content and delivering consumers. And that's exactly what the facts all needs and the end of the day. But we're talking about here is bundles of context. And if they're gonna add and realignment they he has to be analyzing and thinking about you know. What are those. Those bundles that are going to be those properties. They're going to be interesting and increase this pac twelve meteorites deal there you know school by school about thirty two million a year which ales in comparison right now To the sec. In the big ten especially and so they're gonna make a move. They certainly need to make moves. That are not gonna ultimately. Just take more money away from the the slice of the pie for twelve schools. That are here now. You know it's up to people smarter than me than figure out you know. Do the texas schools the big twelve Leftover scraps You know bring that to the to the pack. Although i'm not sure they do in the way of tv. Tv's market share. Things like that. I think that you know if you have an option of trying to add some schools in texas and maybe oklahoma state to to their schools into that recruiting but france. Us's been trying to recruit a lot more in texas the last few years. They've tried to recover from You know what happened with play health in here so i know that there are some schools so i'm sure would like to be able to say we we have you know conference brethren in texas and we're a part of that footprint we can get in there isn't worth it though to risk then you're getting less money because you've got sixteen schools. You know fourteen schools instead. It's twelve when these schools here on the west coast really need every dollar to try to catch up at this next meteorites you know agreement so it it is not an easy calculation. I think george klay aqap and just. I'm curious brady from from the west coast Your view of what has been going on here for the past week. I mean we do swimming these waters and sometimes you know it takes a little bit of a of a broader perspective. How is the ou. Texas story two teams to schools. I should say who nearly hijacked Their way to the pac twelve ten years ago ending up in a place that nobody really could've predicted that long ago. Yeah yeah. I mean. I think he starts to look at the time. Line of what's been happening across college sports Over the last. Couple of years You know ending with this really just total shopping of the ball from the ncaa at the end here with coming off the supreme court decision. Not feeling like they can make a real stance on coming through with the rules that they had been talking about for two years about name image and like this they would govern this new era. Ponting it to the schools conferences. Amer coming out saying you know that. mark hammer coming out saying that they need to decentralize. You know the the ncaa governance and give more power to the conferences. All of that. And then you throw in the college football playoff going twelve team and i think you can start to see why this suddenly looked a lot more appealing so on texas because things are changing their big movements afoot..

"From a revenue perspective from a brand perspective etc. Yeah but is that gonna be long-term effective. If you guys can't get into the college football place we know that it's going to expand it wasn't gonna take six. Scc teams like we got the set of rent sec team but then there's the set of ranked team in house playoff series. It's like how's that going to work. It's just right now pragmatically. I don't see how that's going to work like running the household having all these keys and didn't come into work. It's not so much that that can't happen. That can't happen. That can't happen is this can't happen at the same time. So we got to prioritize right. Now there's this some hurdles in front of oklahoma and texas that. I don't know if they're going to be able to hop hop over that fast to make this happen this year. Coming up chris. Paul had a great first year in phoenix. Butler tell you if he should want to leave and join his friend. Lebron out here in la la. That's next oh speak now. Chris paul's quest for his first. Nba title was cut. Short neck see has a player option for just over four million dollars and become a free agent in less than two weeks. The say his good friend. Lebron james and the lakers have quote. Been on the hunt for a veteran point. Guard and chris. Paul is on the list. So i told mania crispell wants to leave. The sun for the lakers absolutely first things first sale homeboy. The brian mike. At least make the memories. Enjoy it because you can't guarantee you win in phoenix can't guarantee you gonna win in la but at a minimum. You can look back in twenty twenty five years. Obviously you have a lifelong friend and lebron james and you can say hey. We did that. You know whatever that is we did that. So that's the first thing because that is what's irreplaceable is the memories that camaraderie etc. The other thing is i think lebron seep through. You're at least getting to a conference finals. That even if you assume hurt lebron plus. Cpt you're getting you to a conference finals now if you add. It says costa guaranteeing an nba finals as possible. If you're seeping through you gotta look at it like this. I blamed your shortcomings on you with the phoenix suns but realistically it was the andre eight feet three. You know you drop twenty-six whatever points you dropped into closeout game you know you dropped five times. So you relatively did your. You didn't do more than your part but you did your part so now. He got to start looking around. Who didn't do their job. the andre eighteen. You didn't do your job that happened in l. a. with the stars. Anthony davis doesn't fall short. He might get hurt but he doesn't fall short and big time moments. Lebron james isn't falling short and big time moments so the other players you lean on and you depend on in la ewing gotta worry about the moment being too big for them like it was de'andre eight those primary reasons pharmacy. Cb three. i'm here. I'm choosing my money. I i'm choosing opportunity second. We're going to be home forever. You still choosing money if you see. Peter you've got enough. Aren't you trying to choose title at this point. No i'm not see three. Obviously but i i think he's lea. He's leaving my way to. He wants to opt out of a one year. Forty four to get like a hundred for three years. Why why would you take less per year because you wanted to aggregate. He wants more money now once. That box is checked. It's like opportunity. I think it's a great opportunity phoenix than it is in los angeles. They're almost comparable but let's be real about it. There's a younger version in phoenix. There's a healthier version in phoenix than what is in los angeles and let's just do stock market trajectory word ahead it in la right now. Eighties injury and lebron's age slash injuries of late. This this word ahead into phoenix. They never been in the playoffs. Before and you get. Devon booker scorn most points in a players first time in the playoffs. Nba history. and you get de'andre ayton who had great playoffs until the finals felt that he all of a sudden but he had to go against the two time. Mvp to feel that he now he's like okay. I'm gonna comeback ready. I'm comeback score. So i'm looking at it. Money looks like it could be phoenix. Certainly could be more years of phoenix. I'm talking about the opportunity as good in phoenix if not greater because it's a younger healthier version and brahma homeboy already. So why would i go to la for just that because if you see through you know the value you add wherever you go. They're going to get better facts. So if you leave phoenix this. Great phoenix seem you talk about. They were nothing before three. And there's potential they'll be nothing after although they of have eight and then they still have books if you're p. three and you go to the lakers. They were an nba champion before you now with injuries they could not get by you but they weren't nba champion before you they add you. You have to assume you could get right back to the championship game. Can you win it. Who knows what janas talking about what be talking about. What might be talking about. But the lakers were already championship. Caliber team with a couple of tampa or the championship caliber. Nucleus sons are not so. Chris don't even need to be the nucleus. Just go kinda buddy. Kevin durant golden state just coin. Show georgia team. Champion without chevy's kevin durant and goes. He's the best player on the lakers. Really they don't necessarily need you better player. Went to mvp talk. It is nice to have you with robs you of your legacy. I caught that they robbed you and your legs. If you go to lakers win compared to win and phoenix phoenix place. Before you got there now laid finals and does he already robbed. Though you know went to the finals short team that won fifty four combined games two years before you and did fifty one the first year which you didn't finals and dennis didn't win the championship. Sippy stay in phoenix even though l. as a better city coming up jerry jones blaze himself jimmy johnson combo being cut short put you which sports dual broke up too soon. That's next also. Speak for yourself penises. Jerry jones and jimmy. Johnson won two super bowls together. The duo parted ways after five seasons. Jones said yesterday quote. I've never been able to know why bleeped it up so leakers. I think he did himself. Settlers got me thinking who is the best duo to break up too. So i didn't have me thinking long. it's te'o and donovan mcnabb. So much swag in that one. This was the first time. I saw the rally the viral video before the internet really took off before even u2 doing them damn sit in his driveway. Were helicopters flying over. Let me know this was a special thing. Imagine the team that keeps getting stopped short of their goal and couldn't get over the hump and then te'o just go pick. He just comes out of nowhere him and mcnabb all the super t. august hurt in the process goes back on one leg and balls out and super bowl. They still come up short. We wanted to see him running back and we never got to see him running back. Will you got it. I i was thinking. Maybe brady and randy moss right. He instantly kawahara breaks the record. Craig her they break up. Then i was like barry sanders and a football right. That's the duo that broke down. I was like you know what the real answer is. Either marcellus and max marseils chris. Honesty duo marcel. Been apart of the greatest do has to break up to sit out day long tax. Bill had nine hundred cells in whitlam. Yeah do we call.

"Be without annemarie. I can't be without you. And i hate to say because i'm so vulnerable when you say it's true like it's not you said during commercial break next commercial break down lover no seriously. I can't be without her. Everything i do wrong. She does perfectly and everything that i do. Well she does even better. It's a weird. I even though i'm the man but she is killing me in things that are working with the kids learnt envisioning how families should go things we need to do keeping the house and all that bad there and look at people. I've used to date and they were great too but it just didn't add up. It was other factors that they had the lane only was still one leg out one. I on the street still listen to the home. He's a little tough still. Just wanted to be in front of the line instead of just happy wherever you line and i'm looking at bigger like you gotta show me that. We can't do this without you right now. Because right now you just got me in a store on a good half rebate ninety nine cents and until baker takes that next step and i think he can do it this year. People confuse what i say about baker. I don't think he's sorry. I think he's damn good. But i've been damned good and then not damn good the next time. And that's what they don't pay they pay either this or they pay this dale like the pay this because what we're not pay you. Are you going to live up to it. Coming up nick. Sabin says vegan alabama that quarterback. Bryce young has already made ungodly numbers and endorsements. We'll tell you if this is a concern. That's net of quarterback. Brian shown has not officially been named crimson. Tide started but he's already taken advantage of the ncaa's rule change allowing athletes to profit from their name. Image and likeness. Nick sabin says young has already approached ungodly numbers and he hasn't even played yet. He said those numbers are almost a million dollars. Almost as much as jerry jones sadlier so if bryce love endorsements is earnings concern for you is a huge concern for your boy number one. I'll start just with the college football aspect. What makes college football great in my mind as a couple of things. One the rivalry games but in addition to that is the at least tempted parody. Okay right like tcu can beat a texas. You know what i mean like alabama can fall to a ucf on on a bowl game some given day. There's parity at times. Now we've lost a lot of our paired because alabama clemson. Ls george ohio state. They've kind of been on top now. Texas texas has not. But we've lost some of our parody. But when you got quarterbacks who haven't taken snap of meaningful football in college making a million dollars now so why would i go play anywhere else. The average american will not earn a million dollars in his lifetime. A college quarterback and earn a million dollars without ever taking us. Now if i'm high school recruit yuck signed me up there wherever they're paying that kind of money and they're not even paying that kind of money because he income per capita in alabama's at high it's just their love and passion for football is great and that is my first primary concern. My secondary concern neukolln nowhere. Ten ninety nine is or is not like a route tree combination. How most liquorice cost curl and to go. Routes on the opposite side is not flat. Ten ninety nine. No no no. No ten ninety nine means a couple of things the biggest thing you need to understand is they come with him tag take taxes so college athletes in this instance with with bryce. It's if you're earning a million dollars you're gonna owe roughly six figures. It's hard to approximate. But you're going to. Irs roughly six figures and. It's not illegal until you get cobb boy if you get caught whether it's nice you're nice so with that being said self. That's a lot to handle for college. Athlete they probably don't even know what being ten ninety nine and all of a sudden you weren't a million dollars you're going to go spend a million dollars. You're going to spend seven hundred thousand dollars then. You won't get not. We need some money now. All of a sudden you ain't got it problem. That is a problem. it's a problem though. trust me. i'd rather juggle as many balls as i can and drop a bunch that have no balls to juggle it all. Okay i love what people say. What are you gonna do about this. I'll figure that out later. I'll have the means to figure that out to your point that you think that. This is a huge concern. I don't look. I'm split on this. Because i think holistically i do see the concern because i see the inequity in this. And you look parody. I don't give a damn like we don't have to all be the same as i know. There's no no such thing as equality. So i know the game is rigged for all different types of reasons so therefore i go into it knowing. There's a game to play. And i know that the rules always change in that same game. So if i'm a college player. Right now i have to understand what college is colleges the last step before reality real world the last one. But you're on edge clip. 'cause i remember going from high school to college and you go to high school to college and you're like the first day of school the first week of school your alarm clock. You gotta sit it. We didn't have iphones all that back. We had to sit alarm clock. I was like damn. I never have to do this. Mama wake me up. Daddy wake me up or just my biological clock but in college and partying the night before. Think biological clock. Oh i got practice. You have to learn all these things you know what another thing that you're gonna learn in college that you need to be prepared for reality and guess what in reality there aren't things that are equal so coats. Saving is not showing these guys properly. How equal they are are not this talk about that. If co sabin was your coach joe he will look you in is in talk about the team. Co-ceo was my coast my freshman sophomore year. He went and looked at all negative. I wouldn't have. I was a little dude. I was late. Bloomer and these kids know that as well there five stars in high schools and some of them are one stars at alabama looking on him is he not giving them all the same amount of equity in terms of time attention space. He may try to. But you gotta talk to bryce young. Even he's out of starter. He's going to be a starter. I is a guy was incoming who shirt you. Don't talk to that guy at the same depth in the same lips so to me this is microcosm of the real world. This is a microcosm of what your behaviors are currently coached sabin currently alabama. Which is it's an uneven playing field. Get used to it brash. Go make millions some y'all go make crumbs. What the real world. That's a great great great point but let me not even push back. Let me put here okay. My other fear with college athletes being paid in the manner in which bryce young is college athletes have been broke but college athletes. Having gone broke my fears now. College athletes might go broke. Let me just give you a case study. Guess you've jalen hurts. Jalen hurts his rookie year. It alabama. He breaks the alabama record for touchdowns in a single season with thirty. Six jalen hurts would have been paid sophomore year again. He goes thirteen in one. He still would've been paid but then who takes over in the last game to a tongue of iowa by jalen hurts his junior year he was an afterthought so saint jalen hurts. His freshman year is making a million dollars in earnings sophomore. You're making a million dollars in earnings. So what's he gonna do obviously going to go buy a house. Probably buy your car. Invest as he shouldn't live well as he should. Yeah but now. He's anticipating making a million. Maybe two million dollars junior year but he gets beat out so now that he's beat out what's he do. He's still got a mortgage payment but now people don't care about his jersey they want to as jersey now. This jalen hurts in this case. Study of the example. I'm using now he's dealing with. I was just used to making a million a million a million dollars and now i'm making a hundred thousand. They don't want my jersey anymore. But my mortgage is still eight to twelve thousand dollars a month. My car is still three thousand dollars a month. My phone bill etcetera. I'm still feeding my family now. I a- college play. You're going broke. That's the other fear at hand because you got the tram four portals more lively than ever college athletes go from starting to be in on the bench across multiple programs and i.

"Playoffs. You get into dance you give yourself a chance coming up. Baker mayfield might have to wait another year for a long term deal will tell you if that would be a mistake by the browns. That's next don't speak for. The most anticipated reunion of the summer is here. As johnson returns home to do seen on friday nights tavoy a eastern only on thoughts but jeep baker mayfield is eligible for a long term deal with the browns. Might not be ready to put pen to paper. Reports say is quote a little more of a wait and see approach and that it it would not be surprised. Bakers deal comes next off season bakers taking it in stride saying quote not worried about it at all we win. We're headed in the right direction. So the be making a mistake waiting to pay banker mistake Sell let me simplify it right. We know we went long in a block. You know what i'm saying. So let me just give you all my gut punches right now. Okay because you are an organization. that's in cleveland. Cleveland is not one of the more tractor cities At least not to the young athletes coming from a young athlete they'd had to play in. Cleveland got drafted to clean. Check out to the browns for taking a chance on your boy. Then how can you acquire a quarterback you and acquire a quarterback one of two ways through the draft or through free agency. Well you can't really acquire a great quarterback through free agency because of the destination. They're not going to choose to the quarterback in cleveland. Quarterbacks you require do free agency. Over the years. Jason campbell didn't have much success. Tyrod taylor didn't have much success. Rg three my dog. Didn't have much success. Jeff garcia didn't have much success at trenton. Dilfer did not have much success. So if you're not gonna succeed. As a cleveland brown organization acquiring quarterback free agency. Your other option is the draft sense. Take haven't had a ton of success in the draft albeit heisman winners. Tim couch didn't have success heisman. Winners johnny manziel didn't have a ton of success by dog. heisman finalists. colt mccoy didn't have much success. Brady quinn not much. Success brandon weeden first round. Pick not much success so free agency. Your hands are tied. Because not a ton of quarterbacks are going to want to go play in cleveland even if you throw him a boatload of money through the draft historically you haven't really done well so if i'm looking at it if baker mayfield is both a really good option right now. He's a solid option. Won eleven games. Maybe that's not great but if you're a browns fan should be content. What are your other alternatives. Bain con getting a better quarterback through free agency. I just laid out why. That's not very smart bank on getting a great quarterback draft look internally look in the mirror browns organization. You're not likely to do so. So you have baker mayfield because you have baker mayfield. You might as well commit long-term to baker mayfield sooner than later so you can pay him less than more. That's really the simplicity of it. I'm not jumping on. This is the best quarterback in the nfl bandwagon. I'm probably job on logically saying cell free agencies not a great option. The draft doesn't proven to be a great option. You already have a good enough option. Stick which are good option and get him at the chief. Okay i'm what to there. He's cheaper right now. But here's the conversation and here's the problem. This is why the browns should wait on paying baker mayfield. Even though he's cheaper right now the question is is he worth the investment. Now a lot of people were like. Yeah he's worth the investment especially if it's cheap right now but let me tell you the psychology consumerism. Let me tell you. The psychology of all the taj walk into a store. This is why became a sociology and psychology. Major is because of classes like this. The sociology of life just grabbed me. I was like damn. That's how it goes when you go into a grocery store. You may think is randomness man. That thing is curated and calculated same thing happening with this situation. Where baker mayfield. He's not proven he's shown flashes that he's great but he's consistently inconsistent groot year bad year. Good great year. what necks. So here's the thing when you go into that store don't you notice everything's ninety nine cents dollar ninety nine nine hundred ninety nine hundred nine hundred. Why not why. Don't you just make it eight dollars instead of seven ninety nine because the psychology of all we need to incentivize you. Oh you know what if this a little cheaper. Don't you need it even though you need to be asking yourself. A greater questioned in is it cheap. Do i need it at all. Do i needed at or do we need baker mayfield. 'cause we have dressed as dude a better than anybody else in the league. Currently we got all pro's pro bowlers fruit behind him to hear horse receivers stars and baker. You're not the driving force. So here's two things we have to ask ourselves. What can you be consistent. Can you backup a great year with another good great year and two are you. The reason are you were investment. If not you get caught up in half all sales you ever walk lowney jack. Oh wait a minute. That's half off is cheap right half off. But what do i need to pay for it at all. I don't need it so baker mayfield. Make them need you because right now you just kind of glorious want to ask permission to hijack the segment. Let's gum is obviously when your best takes up hurt. The seven ninety nine. It's phenomenal take because you're sitting here caliber trying to deliberate. Is it cheap enough. But the question is do you needed needed so you make a great point. I'm sitting here like we'll get baker while he's team but the question is do you need it but then you have to be reminded that the market dictates your value that sell senior bowl. I went to senior bowl. All star the senior bowl is that in alabama and alabama. I'm glad you faced in mobile alabama all-star game for college seniors. I show up at the senior bowl. And i'm getting checked in by different people the exact etc etc. There were two wonderful women. They're checking me and great personalities not the most attractive to you boy but incredible personnel personality. But if you ever spent a week in mobile alabama you understand that the market of beauty as a little bit different than the market of beauty in la well upon first glance upon check in. I was like oh you're great personalities. But by the time i was leaving they were tens halle berry prime market him now increased their physically there so is at baker mayfield when he arrived in cleveland. You looking at baker like okay. It doesn't really do much for me but now that you've looked around at the market like wait a second what's out there. What else is out there. What else can we are in. Now you start to look at baker after year three going into year four and you look at baker in the same manner. I looked at those who checked me. And after seven days in mobile alabama. Wait a second baker. You lookin kinda good so you are right. You have to ask yourself. I is not as baker cheap enough. Do we need baker but once you realize that the market has increased value. You absolutely need bait okay. Look i'm mad.

It's time for awarding performance brought to you by capital one. What's in your wallet. Well was that the dallas cowboys finished six and ten last season. That prescott is expected to be back in the expectation but through thousands not won the super bowl in twenty five seasons and obviously high on jerry jones list of priorities. He said quote. I do anything known to get super bowl. That's fact close quote so marcellus wiley. You one dawn to star on your helmet us standing in the way the cowboys super bowl only two things health and focus. Let's focus in on one thing. Health dak prescott back in the starting lineup. Dak prescott as the franchise quarterback he is now only. Is that this last free agency signing of the season. But it's also gonna make the biggest difference for this cowboys team. A remind people. How much better deck makes this entire team included defense. Remember the defense. They start calling themselves. The hot boys when dad was healthy. They ain't call themselves jack when he was gone they were like nah anti no nickname for you. So the cowboys defense last year. Let's talk about how they turned a corner from week. eleven on. i know you stop watching. That's what happens when a team is not that good but this is the same team that had the most takeaways from week. Eleven on and eleven scoring fifth fewest giveaways in that span but let's talk about in totality seventh. Most takeaways lasts even and eleventh ranked pass defense. Why his deck so important. I gave you why he shouldn't be important. What is defense has to do with it other than complementary football. Let's talk about ezekiel elliott. Who would outback. Seventy eight yards a game with deck hundred eight and he got six pack again lamb. He goes up thirty yards per game. Amari cooper goes twenty. Michael gallup goes up twenty five yards per game just because dachshund builder now. Why is that so important. Because everyone looks at the dallas cowboys like you guys have underachieved. Yes by the talent but there's also circumstances health and the focus you know at the cowboys since two thousand nineteen have the best record. Nfc east and that includes injury to deck press. Why is that matter face. Look at doing the dance. Was that the honestly. Hey you went into sees. What are you get playoff playoff. See right game. Let's be real about this. So here's the thing about the dallas cowboys since they will win. Division because dacca's nineteen eighty six in divisions rookie season really sixteen three loss three rookie year that prescott in the building. He helps with the health he makes makes everyone else better. Because he's a force multiplier. We'll get to the focus on the second lap that star. I know what it looks like. You said you were that. What star star. What is standing in the way of the cowboys. Super bowl is the star here. You go star. Because the problem. With the cowboys franchise i believe is that they give their players too much praise before they ever earn. It was the same problem. The texas football my alma mater faces. It's a matter of pride comes. Before the fall well these players are prideful and thus they fall before they ever actually have a reason to be prideful and when you get drafted by the dallas cowboys. You're instantly known marcella. Said the cowboys. Defense refers himself as a hot boys. How do you have a nickname when you're a historically one of the worst defenses the.

"Them like they bought super teams. Because the gm doesn't this okay but when a player does not make it make sense. We'll make it make sense. And i'm glad you asked. A super team is not just an aggregation of talent. It's not what a disk. Super team is an aggregation of talent. That's not primarily homegrown that matter and that is because it's like this well let me here. What the san antonio spurs sell in theory they would have had a super team monitor nobly. Tony parker him donkey. I go leonard. All of that talent was homegrown in san antonio. Gm credit although also all you wanna do gm credit Even the bulls. If you will scottie pippen. Michael jordan. The primary nucleus of that talent. And don't you do that. A nucleus talent. I was not a part of all swiss them out for dinner. Rob it quite the nucleus. Even if you want to talk about jaanus the nucleus of janas and middleton is homegrown. Yes there is do holiday. Sure there's pj tucker but the nucleus is homegrown okay. Hilton obviously spent the majority seven eight years in milwaukee so when you look at super teams like golden state. Nobody called them a super team before. Katie showed up now. Head golden state been comprised of klay thompson plus a prime dream on and steph. Come and join them. We would would've called them super team. But we didn't call them. A super team was steph. Klay andrey because they were homegrown superstar he at the time. No remember jerry. I'm not a huge fan but it's hard to deny is what three consecutive four consecutive all star kevin durant no not at all not at all but the combination of clay and draymond steph. Less somewhere enjoying them. I think we would've said steph just went to form a super team. Yeah but we never called them a super team when it was just those three until k. d. showed up because a crook equipment button. There is crooked cool cool about no crew. What have you ever done. That was good with a hook. Hook all poverty here. Here's the dilemma. Deck it up. The dilemma is like if you are not home grown. Then you're sitting here and you're taking an easier route fell. There's nothing to fall four. But here's how we if it wasn't easier to win cleveland. Lebron would not have left. It wasn't if it wasn't easier to win. Golden state would not have left. If it wasn't easier to win somewhere else chris. Paul would not be bouncing around hop skipping and jumping everywhere. He's trying to go and people leave for one reason to your point if you can quit somewhere because you don't like it there etc but you can leave because they want to go find somewhere easier to achieve your goal area. We all the desire to achieve our goals in life our objectives. Whatever the case may be you leave because you wanna find an easier route to do so the easy route. I'm going to march through the hardest route of doing the path of greatest resistance. And i'm still going to get to the top. Here's the thing. No no no where you get your veggies from doesn't matter to you if enough of farmers market or vows don't give a damn well i got the eight essential nutrients and ingredients in that sucks. I'll eat them. These foods are already agreeing. That's all i want to know. Are they green. You'll try to give it to me. You are worth the gm. Does it love it. Homegrown like you'll get your backyard good for you. I'm going somewhere. Let 'em process. I'm not killing my cow farmer. John is gonna handle that for me. And i'm just gonna pay parmesan. I don't understand why people get lost in the sauce on this. This is and i hate to say it. I didn't know that you went on honeymoon. Wit just puts you sound like you are tag teaming whip your own his honeymoon you on your honeymoon. Imagine janas sitting there in the pool and instead of just enjoying the fact that he just won a championship. he's on his honeymoon. he should be so elated. You know what he's trying to figure out. How did everyone else get to this pool. How did everyone else get in this hotel. That never been with somebody who in your business you like. They like so from you. Tell them what do you do so they so what's going on. How do we meet here. And i'm here. I'm here you hear. I never cared why you got here. Why do you care so much. I'll never see somebody at. The manager the manager can tweet that gift card. Still gift card. Somebody paid for it but they look at me like to work hard for it. So same comparison. I say to the super teams stop because you still got the ring. Managers are looking at you like okay. Kevin durant you gotta ring. But i mean they were seventy three win team without you so yeah let me let me go. Get your your larry. O'brien more of course. So lane thing. That three hundred dollar gift card was just as good as my three hundred dollars. They look at me differently. When i use that gift card. You didn't work that hard for it. Not as hard as you work for those real three hundred dollars cash. That is how i at least look at those teams super teams. Your examples are amazing. I give you that. They're never analogous they've never compared to what we're talking about. But it stands on itself as you read internet gift card. I wish i would talk to your waiter or waitress. "Thought that i thought that next saving was telling the truth. You know you did. I guess we'll you're giving too much credit. Yeah i mean a year. Usually not that naive. You're not that usually that easy. It is going to be interesting though to see what these guys really do make. Here's the thing though. Tommy in all seriousness. These players are going to cash in right away those with large social media followings or those who are playing in high profile programs but i think the bryce young thing whether you know it's a million bucks one hundred thousand dollars or whatever it is it might be substantial because he's the starting quarterback at alabama. I think it's another sort of point of proof that it's the programs that matter. This is always been sort of part of my argument against paying players directly. I don't have that much of an issue within i l. I've talked about that. But the pro. Bryce young isn't going to make a hundred thousand dollars or a million dollars in endorsement deals. If he's the starting quarterback at duke or if he's the starting court i'm northwestern lower-profile football schools bama's the brand sabin is the brand. They are taking advantage of this existing marketing platform. That is huge for them and their future. As a professional athlete as as a professional athlete that gets a big contract because he's higher profile or she's higher profile and by the way endorsement opportunities. That wouldn't be there without the marketing platform. Like bryce young. You've never heard of bryce young. I only barely heard of bryce young. Because i follow college football. But nobody's seen him play yet and he hasn't even won the job. This is an absolute argument as to why schools are actually the the draw not the players. Brace young doesn't get anything if he plays for a much lesser program. You're right about that. Alabama is brand duke basketball. Mike chefs ski. That's the brand. You know the the the players that these players come and go quickly. It's hard to even name all the players that have come through the duke program and left after a year or two or the kentucky program and left after a year or two and then by the way disappeared in the nba at the professional level. It's all unless you are a massive fan of those schools. You can't even name those people but you know you do know duke. Wears blue and white. They play cameron door and their coach at least for another year. Is mike szumowski. That's the brand. And if you go to duke you're going to benefit and you're going to basically ride that brand into a professional endorsement deal and a contract that you wouldn't get if you're playing for a much lesser program and a much lower profile spot but whatever. Do you have anything else. Pleasant today to talk about. I got nothing else for your appeal to wait. Go enjoy the beach. I need to. I need to get some mental. Hell better and maybe before you re tweet something or tweet something out if you wanna just you know if you want to just bounce it off me feel free. Yeah yeah you'd be good sounding board. "Kill for that. I don't have any. I don't make any money like that for endorsements bryce young. It's and this is what's interesting about. This too is that it seems like players in certain athletes are going to get paid differently and you see on social media or wherever athletes are trying to endorse themselves or not doors and trying to get. Endorsements like hey. Vitamin is looking to sponsor b. I'm right here. Is that what we're gonna go with now just h-have who wants to sponsor me. I'm right here now. I wonder how some athletes are going to react. There's gonna be some athletes that don't make money off. Endorsements compared to others are going to be some my transfers because guys want to transfer to a small university or a better chance to be a starting quarterback so they can get an endorsement like. I have a feeling. We're going to start to see that you're going to start to see you guys. Not only their transient. Because they're not getting playing time because but because they see the guys in front of them making all this money and they're not getting any of it as far as the endorsements that athlete gets so we see more transfers. And i'm not saying that i should transfer but i'm just saying that this is what the effect that i think it could happen at these athletes. If they have not seen the field for a year or two they may want to leave go to a small university be the starting position player. Whatever they are at the university and now they're trying to get endorsement. So you're i think personally. I think you're going to see the transfer portal rise. I don't think you'll see it fall. I think you're gonna see it. Rise because some guys now are going to school just to play sports some guys or or women who ever going into the school to play sports and if they are not playing because they're not getting the endorsements they are going to transfer more often and the ncw has gotten rid of the one year. Sit out rule so now these athletes can go wherever they want to not sit out one time though yet pressure. You can't take advantage of it all the time but one time to find a chance to make some money and i think that's what's going to happen. I mean wrong. I hope i am wrong. And i hope that these athletes are going to make money regardless of where where the are on their depth chart. But it's not. It's not gonna happen like like what's the what's it called like. A starting quarterback in the nfl will have a bigger sponsor usually over a backup usually over a third string. They are the starters. They had the face of the team.

He joins us on Chicago's college tailgate here on ESPN. 1000, Mike, Jonathan, Adam and Chris. Thanks so much for your time. Thanks for having me on want to get your thoughts before we talk about today's game. Just your overall thoughts on Alabama last season. What's that most about the Crimson Tide season? Yeah, I mean, they took some hits with injuries even before the season started. I mean, Dylan Moses, the pre season all American linebacker. Him going down really, really hurt him forced him into a spot where they start to freshmen and inside linebacker. Just never was Nick Saban's defense in terms of how you know Well, they're able to play and obviously the pls you in Auburn games really showed that 96 points combined. They went up in those games. It just it didn't have the same feel as those previous Alabama teen even as the offense was able to put points on the board, and then you add in the two injury or both of them to both to injuries later, dear. And that really hurt him, So I mean, they were still a very good team. It's just they weren't quite a same level as they've been used to. Mack Jones is going to quarterback this team thiss year and you know, with price young waiting in the wings. How is that played in Alabama? And do we see Bryce Young at some point this year in a non backup role? I would say it's probably less likely than I would've imagined. You know when the offseason first started, and when you're talking about the potential for bright young to have a spring season, the practices of the spring game and all that, and It's kind of gone away. I mean, they're still impressed with bright young, but I think they're they're Muchmore leaning toward having the known quantity in math Jones on the quarterbacks. I think it's going to take a really rough start to the season for us to see Bryce Young. By the end. I don't think it's a situation like No clubs and a couple years ago with Kelly Bryant. Everybody can't knew that. You know Trevor Laurence was going to start that year. I don't think it's quite at that level. I thinkit's a decent chance of Mack Jones may go The entire season, and I know they'll turn a bracing on next year. So if they like Mac, he's obviously not the same talent. That tool was the same talent that Bryce Young is expected to be. But He did a pretty good job for him last year mean other than the two pick sixes you through the Iron Bowl. You take those away and those were bad place on his part, but I mean, he performed pretty well for him last year, and I think they showed something that they didn't really expect to see from him and I think they believe that they can ride that. You know some extent this season. Like earlier on the show. We were talking about Lane Kiffin and old Miss and kind of how Kipping used Alabama to then promote himself onto his next head coaching job. When I look at the offense for the Crimson Tide, and Steve Sarkisian is the offensive coordinator. How has he fitted with Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide there in Tuscaloosa? Yeah, it's a good question. I wasn't here The first time. He was here as an analyst when he had just gotten fired from USC. And I think there was, you know some some consternation there at the end of his 10 year before he left for Falcons, But, you know, he seems like he's fit and well here. I mean, it's obviously easy when you have weapons of the ad last year to kind of run that Rto often Run it up tempo and put some big points on the board as it did last year, and it might be a little more of a challenge this year. I think they're going to tweak their offense backto a little bit more of the familiar You know, ground based Alabama game They love Naji harass their senior running back who decided to come back, and they have a lot of depth at that position. I think more depth at running back then they have it. Wide receiver having lost Jerry Beauty having lost Henry Rose still have potentially to all Americans and In jail in water and they Smith, but I think their strength is more along the offensive line. Running back to the point is You know, at past catcher, at least beyond the top, the top two guys there, So you know, I think Stark's going to turn back to more of a ground game, whether that elevates him to be a head coach or not remains to be seen. But I still think the overall job that he's done with Mack Jones. Is probably worthy of him getting back into a head coaching role he wants to. I think that's been made pretty clear, and I talked to a couple of his former assistant weeks ago, actually, and You know, they all think that he he's going to be a head coach soon. It's just a matter of finding the right opportunity. Had some interest in Colorado this offseason has some interest Mr State but ultimately decided to stay here, and I think he'll you know he'll have more jobs coming his way after this season. Micro Dack covers the Crimson tide for l dot com. How is that going to be inspector? We know that the high has been raised. Will be scrutinized. We know the Lombardi Award We know. Ah, All those great awards are going to be of the Outland are going to be a little bit different this year. But what about your 12 pack? Where do you stand on that? You know, Chuck, I don't think I've ever done that on this program. I dude on other programs, but I think we'll do that because of a unique situation that College football is in this year. I studied football all spring and all. Of course, During the summer months of June and July, I read all that. Preseason publications and I put my I go to spring practices and all of the above and I put together my top 12 teams in the country. The way I do that the number one team in the country is the team as a football coach and I coached for 25 years. On the college level, high school level and so on the team, I would least wanna play my opening game or this coming week. This pole changes every week as the number one team in the country. Now I had to do two of them. I had at my preseason poll. College football poll, which included the Pac 12 and included the big Can, and it included all the other conferences. That currently Paul B. Won't play for ball. Some will, but they're not in my 12 back any longer. So I had to drop out of I had to drop out Ohio State I had to drop out Penn State I had to drop out Oregon. I had to drop out Miami but a change of heart. As Faras Now what is my 12 pack? But those teams were in my preseason College Bowl when we started this football season or before the football season was all counsel. I now have As my top 12 teams in the country, the number one team in the country. I would not want to play this coming Saturday. If the Clemson Tigers From Davos. Sweeney World A. C C. 13 starters back Trevor Laurence Bobby, the leader for the Heisman Trophy. They're ready to play. It's exciting for them see them and the number of games they won in a row and losing that game last year. Ellis you what a great football game that wass but they'll be back. They'll be strong and they'll be ready to play and they'll be picking up. Notre Dame this year on a regular season game, which is exciting. Number two. I have Alabama. Alabama has got too many players. 14 started back when you talk about Nick Saban. You know? Hey, does he just knows howto win? He was 11 in too, And he is embarrassed by being 11 and two got Mack Jones back. His quarterback. You got a young quarterback in there? Bryce Young from California in outstanding player, so I don't want to say I would have had them co but I got Clemson one Alabama to now Number three. I've got Georgia. I've got Georgia because Kirby Smart just is a heck of a football coach really knows Howto..

Quality Group of young men We don't have guys that have any issues or whatever and They worked really hard. And I've been great teammates for the teams that they played for so You know we basically have twenty players we can talk about and several others But we do you have room to continue to recruit you know several other players so You know we're we're actually excited about that as well and you know you guys got this release piece of you know. How many guys have this many stars in that many stars and this is all news to me? Because that's not really how we recruit guys we kind of evaluate You know critical factors every position recruit guys that you know Phil what we want to play their position here in Alabama Emma. And we're we're pleased with the guys that we've been able to attract y'all loaded up with that guy. It's on the defensive side of the ball guys it could be outside linebackers or defensive events for Y'all was that a big need for Y'all what do you think you got out of that group. No I definitely think that we really like That group of guys They're all very talented. They all good pass rushers. They're all long So you know losing two guys that we'RE GONNA lose this year Losing other guys that we've recruited are no longer in the program. You you know created a great need at that position. We're really pleased with The players that we have at that position because you touched on there but what were some of the biggest need you guys identified for this signing class. I think that you know defensive players You know wanted to get a couple more more guys up front. I think we did You know we're GONNA still try to add to that you know in the future Edge players which we just talked about You know we wanted to get at least Four DB's from which I think if it's not been released so far it will be by the end of the day so You know two safeties in two corner. F- you know sort of add to that group. We've been trying to play catchup since we ED. The six guys leave a couple years ago All at once four seniors in two guys garage early for the draft. So it's been a work in progress to try to develop enough depth the net group but That's that was a need We always want to at least replace. You know the the offensive Lineman so we. We've we feel good about that which I know some of it hasn't been released yet So you know wide receiver I always try to WANNA do things one year in advance knowing for sure of the future at that position in some ways Always always important to get a really quality quarterback which you know we feel really good about bryce how young I mean. The Guy was Outstanding as a high school player very mature very smart good leader played. A great program has high expectations for Himself as shuttle's what the team should accomplish And you know we felt like up that running back with something that we needed as well We still want to recruit On we got one tight end And we still would entertain you. Know another one at that position so We still have a few spots that would like to add to you. But you know that's kind of There wasn't one specific thing but you know sort of what are you going to lose versus. What are you going to gain? I'll type of approach approach. And you know how we want to try to recruit guys
