Fantasy football 2020: Your draft kit for the upcoming season
"Okay. So we've got up to ten draft tips for you. Get. One Draft. At least two software why don't you Sunday? You still. People's draft status draft number one that is so bad. Let's let me get like the trending players that are either moving up or moving down for you right now last week we talked Damien Harrison Bryce love There are any other players right now that you WANNA spotlight don't don't look at ADP it's outdated these guys are higher or lower. Well I'll start with Bryce love because there's report from a guy that I trust it works for the Athletes Ben Stanbic he's played in some fancy leagues with me before he's. A season fantasy player. He says that it's not a lock that Bryce love will be on the active roster every week if they only carry three running backs because they'll go with Peterson, the goal Gibson in the goes jd mckissick over Bryce love, which is a little bit surprised to read that. So he's probably somebody that has to be trending down One guy that I'm very excited about I've said this time and time again but the reporters continue to glowing is Joshua Kelly you know he's the guy that I don't want to say that I plant my flag with him but he's somebody that I'm going to have a Lotta shares off I. Already have a lot of shares of him loud drafts coming up over the next two weeks and anybody that asked me, who's the sleeper guy that you are highly recommending this is the one because I do think he's going to be the backup to US nickel or the second guy to us neck ler and. He may not have the job over Justin. Jackson now he will have the dob over Justin Jackson by the end of the season. This is the guy that I want on all of my fantasy teams. So would you take Josh Kelley ahead of Bryce love I haven't okay. Would you take Josh Kelley head of Chase Edmunds. See. So that's the the interesting part of it. That's where you have to play the draft. So as the hype continues, maybe you have to take Josh Kelley headed Jason's I haven't had to do that yet. So if it comes down to those are the only two running backs available. Then, I'll probably take Josh Kelley over Jason, but you know if chase Edmunds becomes the guy for the Arizona. Backfield, he's probably going to be better than Josh Kelley unless neck alerts.

"Loved Matthew Berry. Yeah. First team snaps during practice Wednesday. J. P. Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports. Is this news or noise for Bryce Love? I think it's a little bit of news and I'll tell you why. We know the Washington football team. Starting running back job is up for grabs. The release of Darius Guys who was expected to have that role has opened up on opportunity there. Antonio Gibson. Everyone loves Antonio Gibson. I'm onboard without as well. But the thing is, is that Antonio Gibson might be used more as a gadget player. Then as a starting running back, you know, could he be used Christian McCaffrey style? Sure, But could he be used Mohr because he's taken reps with both the wide receivers and the running back groups. Look, you've got Adrian Peterson, who is a veteran who's a Who's a clubhouse leader. Fair enough, But I don't think people remember how good Bryce Love was at Stanford. Now it's been a while, obviously because he got injured, a senior year got basically a redshirt year. Last year is well, but Bryce Love has a chance. To be special in this league. Had he not been injured field, he would've been a much higher draft pick and so price love who's basically free and drafts is very much worth a a a late round flyer because Look, this is a team that's going to be rebuilding Adrian Peterson's not the future. Bryce Love is There's a chance price Love leads this back field on a better than you think. Washington offense. It's likely great. What is that could be awful. I want to further this conversation at some point, but I'm a little bit weary of suggesting that both he and Antonio gives like, you know. I don't know that this backfill can produce even one fantasy relevant running back. So I don't want to suggest that to workers. Let's we'll let we'll gonna revisit this Washington backfield at some point a little bit deeper in the end of the preseason. If I could just say one common off of that I agree with you. What I'm saying is, is that I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that it is Antonio Gibson. I think there's a chance there's a non zero chance that the fantasy relevant running back on this team is Bryce Love. That's what I'm saying. All right. Next up Field Gates. Breshad. Perriman is who we're talking about. Jets quarterback Sam Darnold said. Perriman is quote, super explosive and everything you want in a receiver rich Cimini of ESPN reports, news or noise. Yeah, it's noise. A guy who ran one of the fastest 40 times in his entire draft class is going to be super explosive. I want TV news that everything you want in a receiver. I I think this is leadership from Sam Darnold, right? I mean, what is going to say the guy's a total died and we shouldn't have given that contract this offseason. Know he's going to say the right things about Godparent. I will just say that I Did recently and we had this conversation. Sort of think Julio Jones is everything you want in the wide receiver there, just That's me If I get a vote, Yes, girls fans like throwing the like, You know, guys off, you know, the free Agent street, right? Exactly. So scrap heaps. So DeAndre Hopkins sort of everything you want to be recognized, and we reflect on our Jets double trouble podcast. I mentioned how the idea that like the time I had Jamison Crowder, right ahead of Breshad Perriman Crowder, a bit safer pair meant a bit more. Most of upside. I have subsequently reversed those two players in my rankings to reflect that you know what pick at wide receiver 42 or something I should be chasing upside is about chasing a guy Come on in the water's warm. I love me Some Breshad Perriman, right. That was a top five fantasy wide receiver. The fantasy playoffs last year like he was a very small sample size and it's different team, but Showed why he was a first round pick So many years ago, the receiver for fantasy when you stopped five, Alright, Daniel. All right. Last one we have Matthew, this is for you. Giron Brown. The 40. Niners signed Brown on Wednesday. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Maybe you've heard of them. News or noise on Geran Brown. I darn Is it add urn? Once you said he was of ESPN. I remember who it was, but I heard that I wasn't from wasn't sure I feel like I've seen him once or twice in the hallways, But I'm not sure point amount to me next time, if you can. Um, I think this is news. In this sense. I don't think it's news relevant to drawn Brown. Oh, actually, I've always sort of liked, you know, sort of bounced around the NFL. But like, you know, when he's got an opportunity, I feel like he's done a little he's done. You know a thing here, too, But I think it's news just in the sense that like They're worried. I mean, right, So I mean, you think about you think about Deebo. You think about jail on her, just like, you know, just and we're gonna get into the 40 Niners here in a second. So I think it is news just in the fact that There are concerns about the wide receiver depth on the 40 Niners. And this is another indication that it might be pretty thin after George George Kittle trouble.

"I don't think. So so when you look at that dynamic, you got Chris Thompson as the third down back. So guys is going to get passing down work. I I don't think so and then Bryce love from dynasty perspective. Because love I think is going to be a redshirt year for him. I loved him at Stanford. I think he's a dynamic running back. But. Coming off the injury. I think it's gonna take them a year, but for dynasty players, you know, next year love Thompsons going to be a free agent Peterson probably this could could potentially be as last year. So then people would say, hey, all right guys is going to get the row. But then you got love coming back from injury. I I don't like it. I he's another guy. Just stay away. Just leave it alone. Yeah. Even before the draft. I could not believe how early people have been taking Darius guys in in fantasy drafts. I mean like multiple rounds ahead of where I'd even start thinking about him. You've got Adrian Peterson. You've got Daria skies. You've got Chris Thompson. Now, you got Bryce love, you know, you got even semi J P Ryan that down the list. I mean, this is not a backfield that I want to invest in at the only guy that I've even considered drafting has been Chris Thomson in literally the last round as my Rb five R B six, but yeah, just stay away backfield until further notice. What about Eric Hebron Nelson? Chris Grumbach gave us that one. See this is getting boring for me because I like to be contrarian and and be able to try to play devil's advocate here. And I can't e- Braun is another good one. You know last year e Brown was value in drafts. And I love Debrecen last year in that offense this year. You have you had Devin funchess you add my favorite wide receiver in the whole draft. Paris campbell. You've got Jack Doyle coming back. E Braun is one of those guys that's going to go drafted a little too high for what I think he's going to end up doing because a lot of his fantasy value last year. I had a ton of Eric Brown. And a lot of his fantasy value was on touchdowns. He scored a lot of touchdowns and he had Jack Doyle who missed a good part of the season. So that helped me Brun this year, it you know, you can't count on those same touchdowns. So I think there's going to be some regression there. Let's get to do you have any eat Brown. Evan. Just full agreement. If you go back in adjust for games where Jack Doyle played last year, Eric Iran's playing time and targets sank. I mean hit rock bottom. So and he's another guy that I mean goodness. I can't believe people take this guy. Like the seventh eighth round. I would not even consider him until the fourteenth fifteenth round Eric Brown because there's a good chance that the guy's gonna be playing like twelve snaps a game..

"That's the main question teams have about him is can he be an every down player because of the issues got as tackler. That's where he struggles. Most. And then you look on the other side, you know, Darius west he's played some safeties played some corner. He's tough. He's more of a box safety in my mind in a long-term, even though his tackling technique. Lease a little bit desired. Hold kinda just going with his shoulder at times or I'll try and low bridge ball cars instead of trying to wrap up, but he's really tough. And he can be that kind of intimidating presence on the back end. I liked his play personality a lot. We got some other news to get to friend including last night. Bryce love from Stanford not going to play in his team's bowl game. I actually wrote my column about that today. Fran. It's kinda funny that like two years ago. There was a big, you know, big controversy about Christian McCaffrey, not playing. Yep. And now we got guys that actually issue statements when they are playing in the ballgame. In two years. It went from how could he do that too? I am going to play with my team. In the bulk game. I'm I'm staying with Mike is like that's how fast things change friend. Yeah. Honestly, I think we're at the point now where. If guys choose not to play in a bowl game, you kind of just look past it if there's other red flags there. So if like that like, maybe that's just you you kind of throw that on top of the stack. But Bryce love I don't blame them. You know, you're going to I forget even which bowl game that they're playing him. But look at Manny Wilkins this past week, people were killing will Greer. There are some people that were like ripping will Greer last week for announcing that he was gonna play in west Virginia's bowl game. And then you say always a quarterback Hoffner quarterbacks. Get hurt look at many Wilkins this past week. And then the Las Vegas bowl. Final drive games over. He takes a hit low. He he's carted off the field. We don't know what exactly the injury. I don't know if it's been announced yet. But I was a bad lie. Looked like a bad knee injury. And so late if you're if you're will Greer your Bryce love your you've got extensive amount of tape. Both those guys are two year starters. You've kind of the NFL teams have seen what they're going to say. If you don't have anything else to prove at this point. I don't blame these guys for making this decision. I especially Bryce love. He's had enough issues already this here. I don't blame him for not blamed playing in this game. Some juniors declaring for the draft. How 'bout Dwayne Haskins? I guess that's not he has not declared for the draft. But your guy twenty polling had a report. Correct. Yeah. Tony talked about it on my podcast last week and wrote about it later about how everyone is telling Haskins his kind of decided on representation, and he'll be entering the draft. So I guess we'll see what the the official announcement is when he decided to do it. Maybe it will be after the ballgame but twain Haskins it seems will be entering this draft..

"Has a podcast. I just found that out. Yeah. Well, he does he's had it for awhile apparently. All right here, we go. Let's go hatless biggest disappointments in all of college football this season. Melman how about your number three flop? Number three. I'm gonna go Jarret stidham. And this new expected to be a first round draft choice, potentially. Even Todd Todd Todd was raven about him even after the Washington game. You think about early on when you think about that gave kind of a pick em game. Auburn wins the game. And they're they're still talking first round draft choice. Look good looked impressive. They're kind of the wheel started to come off a little bit obviously issues around the quarterback. But you know, you look at where Jarrett stidham was and where he is now. Yeah. You think about entering the iron bowl with a sixty one point six completion percentage that's five percentage points below last year. Wealth touchdown passes. That's it. Plus eight touch interception differential is plus twelve last year all the improvement. You thought you would see you got glimpses of in that Washington gay, but it didn't continue. And that's the reason I'll put a first round pick back in August September who now looks like more of a fifth sixth round, pick should go back to all of them for another year of eligibility up with Jarrett stidham quarterback Auburn at number three should accept you. Can't get it. Offensive line to protect Mike goodness. Yeah. There's no doubt about it. I like where you going on this individuals were certainly up there. I'm going to go with all teams on this one. All right. My number three flop is a team that has to win today to go bowling. I think it can. I think it would be their best win of the season. If it does. But I'm talking about Florida state far too much talent. We thought Willie Taggart there were people that questioned the Willie Taggart higher after one year, and I get it. But it's still Florida state. It's still a team that is loaded with talent team that I thought we thought had a good quarterback. But the biggest problem for them is the offensive line that was so bad a year ago did not get any better and Florida state to be sitting there at five and six right now. And that's after a big win against Boston. College got him to five and six that to me is the third biggest disappointment of this college football season. All right. How about number number two number to go. Another place. Bryce love running back Stanford. Yeah. I'm just going player. That's fine Heisman favorite coming into the season. He had the injury. You know, what he's been out there? The results have been a lot less than was expected. Okay. You're right. This is rush for two thousand one hundred eighteen yards average eight one a carry nineteen rushing touchdowns got five hundred eighty rushing yards. Four eight average five touchdowns through. I ten games. It does have sixteen receptions, which is more than the previous two seasons combined like that. But Bryce love and Stanford just did not put up to the level expected and for Bryce love Heisman candidate back in August..

"Bryce love that had all those long touchdown runs. The first few is a big part of it. And the offense of line has struggled at times really open up hold. If you look at the first few games. So many negative carries Bryce love is having to make his first cut three yards in the backfield against Oregon state. He's making his first cut four yards. Pasolini scrimmage, and he's able to get ahead of steam and make guys miss, and you know, he's a he's not a huge running back. He's maybe on the shorter side. But he is powerful. And when he gets his momentum going he is really tough to bring down. I just way too many carries to start the season where he's getting the hand off and making his first cut immediately that a standstill they're not able to get to the edge or great much push up front. So I think if you have to point to one thing the offensive line is taking a step backwards. I've never seen a team with more injury. Stanford has not started the same five offense lineman twice this season in the same position. That's remarkable. And so I think you know, they did lose my blue moon, the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach who's. Now, the head coach at rice. So maybe there is some growing pains there with the new coach, but the offense of line has not been as dominant as we've been used to seeing Stanford is really built its presence in it's sort of density around a strong powerful offense of mine that pushes teams backwards, and they just haven't done it this year now no question Todd Husak with us on the gas line. Jay z are Siegel Whiteside said a huge year ranks fourth in the nation with eleven receiving touchdowns. Most in the Pac twelve this guy can really high point the ball is parents were both pro basketball players, and and he he's a basketball element to his game. He can go up and really high point the football and catch it in a crowd. But I know he didn't he didn't play last week against Oregon state. What's his status for Saturday? I think the report is a high ankle sprain. Even if he does play I'm not expecting an play. He does. I I would imagine. It's he's not close to one hundred percent mean you said he he has the ability to he's a rebounder, actually. And most of this touchdowns this season. There's only been one maybe where the defender fell down and he was able to catch and run. But the majority of them are jumbled in the end zone where he's getting single coverage. And he's just it's not a fifty fifty ball. It's been about ninety ten this year. He is tall and strong. He has super long arms and can jump. But he really what makes them unstoppable is the ability to position himself between the quarterback and the defender. And if an offender is not in perfect position. He's got absolutely. Even we've seen it. Where even if the is playing it perfectly. Good white sag just out jumps him. He gets his long arms extended. And it's big strong ends around the ball. He's he's been tough to stop. And we saw similar thing with Kobe Parkinson last week that that was an exciting as anything STAN. Forget even without JJ or Sega Whiteside. Stanford took advantage of athletic mismatches. And really get the ball the Parkinson early in that game and create some space forum in Parkinson did the rest so Stanford has to weapons even without or Sega Whiteside. But to your point I'd love to see him finish strong. If you more touchdowns and take a real shot at the Belinda coffered projecting him as a potential first rounder, which would be pretty amazing because he's not on many people's radars. At the start of the season. We're talking to Todd you second guess line. Of course, you're listening to Gary and Larry on Cambio San Francisco K S A N HD two San Mateo, the sports leader. Let's let's flip the card and talk about Cal for second. They just beat us. Fifteen fourteen really the story there year has been the defensive coordinator Tim to reader Deroit or his unit has been phenomenal this year they're giving up ninety ninety rushing yards and twelve and a half points per game over the last four games. Cows defense is really come to play. What do you expect? How how do you think? How's d matches up against Stanford? I mean, this this huge one for Cal because Cal has not finished ahead of Stanford in the Pac twelve standings in a decade. So they get this win. This'll be huge for Cal. What do you expect to see when when when it Stanford's oh against cows d? Well, I I would expect Stanford. If you look at the this season, really when Stanford's had its most success you look at last week what they did against Washington state. They threw I they threw to set up the run. They took advantage of their matchups on the outside. Whether it's a tight ends or Sega whites ate, even without Ortega Whiteside. Stanford has some speed I really like the young receivers Michael Wilson, and they'll Cyrus team Brown as burners but figure out ways to pass I create some matchup problems. Push it down the field softened up the defence. And then see if you can expose in in the run game. I think Cal Cal to three pretty good teams in a row in both Washington schools. NFC Stanford can have its work cut out for him. I think they have to protect the football. That's as good as the defense been Cal has not been able to put many points up on the board. The Stanford has to take care of the ball. Be don't give Cal short field. But also be aggressive. Okay. Stanford. Did it against washing? I think it shocked everybody. It's certainly shocked us in the booth and they came out ran no huddle in through it right down the field and scored a touchdown on their opening drive, which they've only done twice in the last seventeen games. So I think if they come out aggressive maybe get cow on its heels a little bit don't give them the ability to get in the backfield. And and disrupt then attack with a healthy Bryce love who looked apart last week. Stanford's best shot. I mean, you gotta figure of Stanford and get twenty eight twenty four twenty eight points that should be enough to outscore Cal offense at a struggle. But it's easier said than done especially seeing what Cal is done the last month of the season, they tackle well in space able to create pressure on the quarterback without bringing everybody, and they're they're athletic, and they're well coached Stanford has to be sharp and cannot make the stakes. I don't know if you saw Cowboys eagles on Sunday night football last week. But Zakar tes is just having unbelievable football game. I mean, fourteen catches one hundred and forty four yards Sarnia forty five yards two touchdowns. He's emerged as as one of the top tight ends and pro football without a doubt. And yet. Parkinson Colby Parkinson had a tremendous day against Oregon state four touchdowns over one hundred yards. Cadence Smith is a lot of people thinks can be a first round pick. How does the the duo? They got right now, Kim Smith and Parkinson compared hurts. Well, I think it's very similar to what Stanford had a few years back. It was there to Kobe cleaner. Parkinson is much more like Kobe cleaner, six seven two hundred forty five pounds, very good at running straight lines. You look at what fleeing or did. He just ran post routes corner routes and goes like down the scene, and then jacker was much more of the controlled underneath guy. Who knows how to position is body make tough catches and traffic, and that's really what cadence Smith has done this year. We they like to get him in space. He is good with running after the catch, much like soccer. I mean, we we've been calling this for the last couple of years. They look very similar is accurate and cadence Smith have very similar game similar builds speed athleticism. But but Parkinson is a little different. I think you you get him in the theme or down the down the field. That's where Stanford can really create some magic problems because how do you how do you guard Parkinson are you gonna put a safety on them? Well, he's too big for that. Are you gonna put a linebacker on? He's too fast for that. So. And it's not going to be their best defender because at that guy's gonna lockdown cadence Smith. So all of a sudden you can get Colby Parkinson on their second best cover safety or linebacker Stanford can can give defensive coordinator some headaches and trying to keep up with them. So I that's how I see that that comparison and both have really excelled over the last month of the season. I'm a little surprised cows not favored, I know. You don't want to go with that narrative. And I know Stanford's lost four times against good teams. The teams that Stanford has lost to this year are ranked number three number eight number seventeen and number twenty one in the nation Notre Dame, wazoo Washington and Utah. Those four teams have combined to go thirty three and seven. So I mean, it's not like Stanford's losing to citadel or something. They're losing to good teams that are among the best in the country. But I just think the way cows plan right now the and and they're at home, they probably get a little edge as far as the anger just because they've have lost eight straight. I. I think this is a this game shed minimum should be a pick them. How do you see it? I agree with you people. Have underestimated Cal last month of the season in a paid the price and Cal it's not a fluke. They're a really good defense. And they are whoa. Coached from a talent level. You have to like Stanford's matchups are especially on the perimeter. I think a lot of it's gonna come down to Stanford offensive line. Can they hold up and create a push and protect Castillo? If that's the case, I think Stanford has the ability to outscore cow, but it it it won't be easy. And you said at a CAL's gonna be motivated this is the first time they've had the same record since two thousand nine when Cal beat Stanford. They were both seven and three in cal- beat Stanford after some late game play calling. I think Stanford fans are still upset about. But it's been awhile since both teams on similar pass. It's been much more up and down. I think for Stanford, and it has been cowed just based on expectations but cow's head in the right direction, and it it should be, you know, I'd love to see both teams at one point nine and one we're. All of a sudden it is a huge game and not just a big game. But this is the I think the most competitive one coming in that we've had in a decade. How important is this game? I know people talk about the big game the big game and this and that, but how first of all what was your record in the big game. And and is it do you think about your battles with California, you know, later in life, or is it something that you know, we say it's big game. But it's really just another game. Well to your first question for now. Mcallen, Tyrone Willingham never lost to Cal. You didn't have to dig deep for that stat. It's amazing how the tongue I think in order for it to become a more meaningful game. It has to have impact on the conference standings and real. Meaning I think going back to my career you really remember the games against like the good FC team that we went down there and beating the Coliseum or or beating Notre Dame sealing the rose we did be Cal in ninety nine that field Rose Bowl berth and the first championship in twenty seven years. So that was that was great like that had meaning because of the consequence of winning. But I think in order for it to take that step up if both teams need to be playing at a super high level, for whatever reason you go back to the last twenty five years when Calvin good Stanford is not Stanford been good Cal not other than maybe two thousand nine when both teams were seven and three. There hasn't been that one standout game. And I think in order. For it to become a great tradition. Obviously one hundred twenty first matchup. There's a lot of history there. It is fun to get together with Cal fans and Stanford pants and talk about it and be Cal this week, and blah, blah, blah. But I think. Export to have national significance and not just bears significance. Both teams need need to be playing very well. And hopefully, we can get there. I I really like Wilcox. I knew him from playing the NFL together. He has done a tremendous job in getting that that defense that I mentioned maybe the worst in history of college football in tackling to now a group that is holding teams to under one hundred yards rushing and berry good tacklers and discipline and athletics..

It's still only late September, so another team can fall, but to be safe, you better win this game, especially if you're Penn State because Penn State still has to play Wisconsin. If you're a high state, you can hope that Penn State might lose to become sin or Michigan or Michigan state. But if you're Penn State, you do not have an opportunity for air. You cannot afford to lose this game. A loser of this game is not out of the playoff hunt. They will still be good enough to sweep the rest of their schedule. And if they become a one loss non conference champion, that's exactly what Alabama was last year in Alabama didn't beat a team west year that finished in the committee's final top ten ranking. So the loser of this game is not out of it, they'll have to sweep. But I think either one of these teams is good enough to sweep. I think it's more bitter for Penn State to win. I think state could recover. Simply because that win over TCU just like they did with that win over Ohio State a couple of years ago, Penn State, not as much there, the non Connor at the other top ten matchup Stanford visiting Notre Dame. Trevor. We have yet to see. We've only seen Bryce love have won one hundred yard rushing game, and his first games this season is he do for showcase game here to go off against Notre Dame. I dunno offense of line due to block foreign better. I'm disappointed in the performance of that, but I think he will be better in this game just because I expect the Notre Dame defense to try to stop the past. I gauge Costo has been lights out in the absence of the Stanford running game, and I expect them to make the Stanford running game prove that they've got to come up to the line and that she opened the door early for. Look, where is the love? We're all asking the same question. Rice left needs to show up because rice love half the show up. You said it. Trevor. The authors of mine has been a business, but keep in mind. Notre Dame's defense has yet to allow one hundred yard rusher. Costello has been phenomenal, but in a big time game a primetime all lies on you type of game price love, don't put it all on your quarterback. Oh line, don't put it all on your quarterback. You have to take some pressure off. Bryce love needs to show up for stay manual Emmanuel. Tell you this. What's love got to do with it as long as. Still on the tax. Oh, good. That's your song. Trevor this together. This has been a crazy little game called love. I, I will say that Bryce love has one rush fifty or more yards this season through three games. Last year. He had four of them. So we haven't seen the explosion that offense of wine. Certainly, they have something to do with that up next Miami in action tonight on ESPN is Miami. The second best team in the ACC.

"We'll just have to see, but I'll live to see another day. So last game of the week, we're going to do Stanford Notre Dame big time game, obviously for the cultural playoff implications as well. Notre Dame looks like a completely different team with this new kid at quarterback in book Bryce love. He's still not who we thought he was going to be like teams are loading the box against him, whatever. But this game, I don't really know how I feel about it because I don't really necessarily think Stanford's is good as they are ranked because of what happened last week and they were able to sneak out of Oregon with a win, but I don't know about Notre Dame either. What are you guys thinking? Huge o. j.. Oh, man, how? No. I, I don't know whether I trust Stanford after why? What happened? Last week. I think they really, really snuck my with one, but I really haven't haven't seen another anything from Notre Dame either. So I had to pick anybody. I'm gonna at the Notre Dame's at home, correct. Minus three. Give me the golden Domus. Yeah, I, I hate to agree board. You gotta go on. I think you gotta give a ton of credit near with. I don't want to trust me. You make me happy your little bullshit analysis. You make me want to go the other way. Let me go first. We're 'cause I've been going every time. I got that. You can't lay off that. So I look, I let me get my analysis. Okay. I think I I'm gonna go. I think you've gotta give a lot of credit here to to chip long who the offense coordinator for Notre Dame. He's an absolute stud future head coach, you know, for him, switching quarterbacks like that. Coming off at ten win season and they were undefeated the time for him and chip Kelly to make the move. I watched their whole game. They looked like a totally different team with with the in book. And I think that opens things up for chip who's been a hell of an offense coordinator at Memphis, and did a great job at Notre Dame last year. So I think I, I like Notre Dame. You know, I'll give the three points. I think Stanford's coming off their good solid team, right? Stanford usually find a way to stay in these games like they did. Last week, but that highly emotional game was game day at Oregon. You know, they, they found a way to come out on top and all the emotions that go back with that, and they're now the flying across the country. Notre Dame who's coming off somewhat of a cupcake game at wake. I think I think there's one could actually end up the way the way the Stanford Oregon game should have, and Notre Dame should cover the three. I agree. And this is one that I can't even find spins on it and just because I think that Stanford is obviously talented. I like Bryce love. I think he is one of the best backs in the country just can't get much done right now. But if this was before last week, I would've said Stanford just 'cause I didn't really believe in what Notre Dame's doing. I really think that with this new quarterback, they look like a completely different team, and I know they played Wake Forest last week and it was a cupcake game. But I think that this is just a completely different offense with him. So I'm going to take Notre Dame minus three as well. So does anybody else have a lead pipe lock of the week? Johnny. Do you have one before we move on from this? No, no one here. Be co. He's got one every week with here. Here. I like a couple this week. I'm going to. I don't know if I should give too, but I, I'm gonna ride my NC state Wolfpack my Bradley, Chubb guys. I get good Intel there from from him and Jalen Samuels there at home against Virginia against week. I think the only five point favorites. They've got a, you know, a good set of skill guys. There defenses playing really well. So I'm gonna go NC state again the game. I really like, however, that's not my lock, my lock. I'm gonna go with the Oklahoma state Cowboys rebounding after cliff put it on their ass. They're going to Kansas. I think they expected to be Texas Tech. I think they got their eyes opened a lot. I think Kansas is typical Kansas team..

"He's he made a big cats there in that last drive that Stanford made to set up the field force overtime against Oregon in a nice spin move and cat out of bounds. I was a key play in that game. You look at the tight ends kaeding Smith and Parkinson big, big guy, six, five, six, six, huge targets. Not only that, but Cajun. Kasteler. Bryce love in the backfield. You know, in a year ago, this guy looked like the best player in college football. You'll talk about him a lot so far, but with these receiving weapons with Bryce love in the backfield in a Stanford defense, the really didn't look very good in the first half last week, but I think is better than that. I have showing against the ducks. I think the cardinal could go in and win this game. Sometimes you, you talked about playoff aspirations. So the other way to look at it is maybe the cardinal got the break, the needed to be a playoff. Off team last week at Oregon, because when we looked at their schedule sa- man, this is a brutal early season scheduled for Stanford. I don't know how they can survive while they got a lucky break last week at Oregon. Maybe that's what they needed that go to Notre Dame, right? That momentum and win this week. I'm not sure if a Stanford gets the win, obviously, but the five and a half, I think with the offense personnel to cardinal, have they have better offense. Notre Dame even with in book at quarterback. I, I wanna see David Shaw open up the playbook earlier in the game though. I thought it was funny last week. When Shaw said after the Oregon miracle, you know our team's gotta learn how to play sixty minutes Bubba. Well, how about you? Don't coach conservatively offensively in the first half until your team folks behind fourteen nothing. That's the ball. I hope it's, I hope he's wanting to win a bit of Lassen. It opens up last week. You saw opens up this week. You saw last week. The last point I'll make about Stanford Shaw. Being conservative is I'm at fourth in one play. He puts to offense environment in the backfield just basically tells the defense what we're gonna do. We're going to run the ball up the middle. She clog the running lanes with two offense. Ivine when you run into a twenty man box surprise surprise, you don't pick up the one yard you need for the first down. That was another idiotic call. I think he is going to open up. I like the over in that game as my favorite play the way. Not that I love the card that much, but I, it is one of my, this is my favorite play. You mentioned that you said you were looking at Notre Dame minus three and a half, but once it got up to five and a half, you're not just although No, no, no, no, no, no. no, no. I was looking at a place Stanford at three and a half or better. Gotcha. Okay. Stanford I was looking at Notre Dame copy. There's another big game, Penn State, Ohio State this one in Happy Valley white out game..
Oregon Ducks Justin Herbert garnering Heisman Trophy NFL draft buzz
"Maybe we get a competitive game Stanford on the road at Oregon, if you've not paid attention to the ducks the name, you need to know specially because most of what we do on college football. Saturdays is pay it forward. NFL? Sunday's Justin Herbert outstanding quarterback for the ducks. He's getting a lot of NFL draft was already. In fact, I saw Mel kiper junior. Putting Herbert atop is big board at the quarterback position. If you've not seen Herber play big arm. Big body six six to forty prototypical NFL size Bryce love last year was Heisman Trophy runner up. Sluggish start this year missed the game against UC Davis for undisclosed injuries. I think it was just wear and tear Stanford against Oregon in the Coldren that is awesome stadium. If you have a college football bucket list, and this could be west coast bias as I come to you from our luxurious studios in southern California. If you can make it to you Jean. Amazing setting and you could talk about things beyond football, go in October. As leaves are turning. This is now my version of the travel channel. But the stadium is built with the bowl right on top of the playing surface. It gets incredibly loud and Oregon at least the start the year showing some promise chance to make a statement nationally taken on number seven

"And that's a recipe for disaster. Some of that can be the case, right? It's gonna to quarterback system. I don't really know anyone who could make that work and and maybe that's the case to play calling. It seems like that eventually comes doing at TCU. For example, sunny cumby. Doug Meacham can had a nice run there, Gary Patterson for a while. But eventually there's a break-up so it it seems like it's just hard to make it work because it's such a ego driven. And ultimately, I think, you know, when you're putting a position where one way or another, you're gonna get the praise of the blame. You'd like it all to be on you and not have to split it with someone else. And then that's where you start pointing fingers. So I think that's the other reason why it really comes down to, you know, always better, really having one guy, one voice. That's that's saying everything and then calling the play and making that decision number seventeen USC. What jumped out at you after their first win against UNLV. Just the poise of their freshman quarterback. I mean how how young man can step on a stage like that perform the way he did. I'd be so poised and come almost a replica of Sam Donald, but very similar in the sense of similarly, accurate quarterbacks at quick release. He's shifty enough, not as good as a runner, but just the poise that he showed and not really panicking when they struggled a little bit early on verses UNLV. What about Stanford? What stood out near their opener. And the fact that Bryce love struggle to run the football. I mean, you know, he's, he's a Heisman candidate. You kind of expect now one of these big performances to jump on the Senate, the beginning of the year and didn't happen and ended up being the passing game k. in on Sehgal Whiteside connected for three touchdowns built and things up and they're probably going to have to do that. The rest of the year to prove the teams that they can throw the football and you can't just load up the boss to stop rice, love talking to Brady Quinn. He's gotten USC and Stanford coming up Saturday night at eight thirty eastern on FOX. You talked about the poise of JT Daniels and the number of freshmen who are coming in now in they're ready to play. Now, in this goes back to high school grade school, it's it's like there's this like a laboratory Brady that, you know, we're teaching these kids of how to under what to understand about the game and and they're ready to go. They're running their own offense in highschool here. Like how surprise. Housing is it that you're seeing this many freshman quarterbacks contribute. It's a bit surprising, but it just speaks to, I think the game of football, how big it is, and then how big the most important position is in the game before ball. And it speaks to all the coaches out there who are working with them with their size school coach, or, you know these, these quarterback Googlers either way. They're preparing these young men for the moment and they come in technically more ready than ever before they have a better football IQ as far as what to expect. And and I think it's a good thing for the game of football, especially at the highest level. Right. 'cause we want these guys coming in understanding the game, the different nuances, so we can replace the Tom Brady's the Aaron Rodgers, the drew Brees of the world at some point. So I think it's a great thing for calling football and look. I love the game. I think all these guys play the quarterback position end up becoming leaders in something else. Eventually, whenever the game stops for them, they don't end up, you know, one day know leading company or becoming a CEO and always think the lessons these guys are coming in with how much maturity they can show it a young. Ace pretty impressive. But I'm also hearing you got kids who are six and seven years of age where dad is sending their tapes to two guys to analyze what their kids are doing at five and six Brady. Yeah, and that's the crazy part. Sounds like European model. Right? My wife was an Olympic gymnasts you know? So back in two thousand eight, she's competing for our country over and Beijing. I, if you wanna know when they ended up figuring out whether or not she could, you know, do gymnastics her coach selected around five years old, six years old..
