The Brewers are working on contract extension with Christian Yelich that could exceed $200 million
"Christian Yelich might be the next superstar in sports to put pen to paper on a massive contract the brewers India which are closing in on what is being reported as a nine year two hundred fifteen million dollar contract now if you're like me when you first hear that nine years and two hundred fifteen million for Christian Yelich who was the MVP two seasons ago any runner up for the most valuable player award last year when he got hurt and missed a month you're probably thinking to fifteen does not seem like enough and I would tend to agree with you about that he is taking a dramatic discount to sign this extension which is basically seven years a hundred ninety million in new money when you just saw it the rain don't who hadn't been in the top two in MVP voting over the last two years in the National League get seven years and two hundred forty five million to go to the angels in free agency when you've seen our unato in Colorado no one or not get a massive two hundred and thirty plus million dollar contract over eight seasons and here we're talking about new money seven and one ninety for a guy who might be the best player in the National League the deal was first reported today by the athletics some of the details of trickled out of come from ESPN's Jeff Passan he's got this basically yellowish would play the next two seasons starting this year on his current contract so he's scheduled to make I was about to say only how funny is that only twelve and a half million in two thousand twenty and then fourteen million next year but you know I laughed at that as far as the production B. provides and and the elite performance is gonna provide Daddy's shopping in the bargain bin that's finding one of your favorite movies in the five dollar DVD been at your favorite electronics store so the extension for that seventy one ninety would basically kick in for the brewers in two thousand twenty two and go through two thousand twenty eight and there be a mutual option in the final year in twenty twenty nine but you go back two seasons ago when Yelich won the M. V. P. he established himself after leaving Miami where he was an excellent hater and a lot of folks felt like maybe he would win a batting title at some point but didn't get a lot of help we did have a lot of production and protection rather to go along with his production there just weren't players around him as good as him to help him out as they were going to getting rid of all their pieces Giancarlo Stanton Marcello's owner he was the last guy standing so we got to go to Milwaukee and give it a try there and immediately flourished completely took off and became one of the greats in the sport and for my money right now this moment Christian Yelich of the brewers is the most underrated player in baseball which might sound ludicrous considering that he wanted MVP award is finished in the top two twice in two years but I still think when we have conversations in this industry about who the best baseball players are Mike trout's name comes out of everyone's mouth first then you get some of the bigger names that maybe don't even belong in that conversation right now based on performance like Bryce Harper Manny Machado those types but who is the second best player in the sport yeah which might be the answer Cody Bellinger won the MVP award with the Dodgers last year is in that vicinity I'd say there's a a four player tier behind trout vying for the number two seed in the sport with the yellow shoes twenty eight Ballenger who's only twenty four just barely starting to think about Mookie Betts becks is now twenty seven went from Boston to LA this offseason in a deal that took forever to consummate and Alex Bregman the twenty five year old villain now with the Astros who is so much better four in the wake of finding out that Houston Bregman has cheated over the last couple of seasons at least dating back to seventeen and some of eighteen that they've admitted to Bregman the MVP of the American League last year in my opinion ended up not finishing right behind trout and I kind of quantify things as non trout division because he should just get the award every year so I kind of say well other than trap who was the MVP this year you're competing against a legend the likes of which is going to go down as maybe the best players ever lived or one of them no one of the mount Rushmore baseball stars essentially and a guy that you'll meet people listening right now we're not gonna see another player like him probably in our
MLB Spent Less On Player Salaries Despite Record Revenues In 2018
"Thousand unin study shows that despite some record contracts signed this off season salaries around baseball are continuing to go down. According to the Associated Press the average salary of the eight hundred seventy two players on rosters and injured list. At the start of the season is four point three six million dollars. That's down from four point four one million at the start of last year and four point four five million from two thousand seventeen even though. Oh, Bryce Harper. Manny Machado and Mike trout signed record deals this spring. The free agent market the past two seasons has been very weak for just about everyone else. Redoing baseball's financial structure is expected to be a major point of contention as the players union and the league negotiate a new collective bargaining agreement over the next three

"Of sports podcast for happened onboard. Where he just as smart, dude. That's one of the things I try and do, and it's not all that hard is with the assistance of my producers like Chris Knight, and yours truly if I reach out, I try and book people smarter than me, which doesn't exclude too many people. I must be honest, but we try and get guys who have a real feel what's going on in the world of the sport that they're talking about it, Andrew certainly understands the business of the NFL as much as everybody else. And I just loved his take on the difference between baseball and football at cap is a huge part of it because there's a cap in place in the National Football League. If you're the the highest ranking free agent this year, tell me what you think about if say quarterback you gotta who's the number one quarterback. That's that'd be number one guy. I'd maybe Nick false, whoever you think is the. Highest ranking free agent, and there were some really good defensive free agents that could've hit the market. But instead, we're given the franchise tag. So they're not really free agents. Whoever the guy is he could in the National Football League. He couldn't do what Bryce Harper Manny Machado did. Because there's a cap in place in the National Football League and teams can't just sit around and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait and wait. And then all right. Well, now, we're going to spend tens of millions of not tens of thousands hundreds of millions of dollars. They can't do it because they need to get about the business of filling out the rest of their roster and doing so under a cap, you can't just leave fifteen million dollars sixteen seventeen eighteen for one player at a very skilled position. In case. You're going to get the guy. Well, what if the guy decides to go somewhere else? You are the most money, but I just doesn't want to wait has a misgivings about the way you're analyzing the situation and decided to sign with another team will now you screwed because you don't have anybody else left out there because everybody else's sign that you decided to play be patient long game. Yes. That's what happened in baseball this year. It's still ongoing for a couple of guys. I think part of it is a misjudgment of the market with Dallas tycoon Craig kimbrel. I it is still happening in baseball. It can happen in the National Football League teams are aggressive. They come out of the box with their best offers. They don't try and slow play a negotiation the top guys get paid, and they get paid right away who's going to get paid as of Monday. Well, nobody's gonna get paid to Wednesday. But the legal tampering will begin. And we'll know through the very good insiders. We have covering the National Football League who's talking to who. And what kind of dollars? They are talking about. Do. You wanna talk NFL agency with me? We do that right now. Get on my telephone lines. Eight five five two one two four two two seven. I keep an eye on college hoops stuff. Kansas state beaten up on Oklahoma right now, Ken states going to be a pretty high seed any upcoming tournament. They're not gonna win the big twelve that's going to Texas Tech. But Kansas state to me they should be higher ranked than Kansas. We don't know if that's the way it's going to play out, but an impressive wa- finish up the season win over Oklahoma here up twenty two with nine minutes and change to play. Yeah. I think they're in real good shape. I want to talk about any of the good college basketball stuff. I'm going including Carolina Duke, which will get into when we get back. Hit me up at eight five five two two four two two seven bottomed. Our we gotta CBS sports update for you. Here's Larry Ridley. Sports play. All right. Let's talk some college.

"Spain and Fitz as the world turns variance Donio Brown. Don't go anywhere because I know I've teased the heck out of it. But yeah, coming up in five minutes, I'm going to give you news that will make your day on Antonio Brown. And I kid you not you may want to die your mustache blond, just right now because you're going to love it. That's in five minutes. This is Spain and Fitz on ESPN radio the ESPN app and Sirius XM channel eighty Tim Montemayor in for Spain and Fitz. Tonight's and the tag numbers in the NFL out today in the names are out in the NFL today and field Yates are. Very own field Yates here at ESPN just tweeting that d- Ford has in fact been franchise tagged by the Kansas City Chiefs as a linebacker. So that's about fifteen point four million dollars. If he decides to take that. But there are some big names on this list. So as I go down this list just kind of contemplate if you're the team, or if you're the guy are you are you accepting this tag? And I think one of the biggest ones today is DeMarcus Lawrence from the Dallas Cowboys because this is kind of a messy situation. Well, hey, it's the Dallas Cowboys. So it's going to be messy, right? Demarcus Lawrence said straightaway. I will not play another year under the tag and this'll be his second year being tagged. The number is twenty point five million dollars. Well, here's the part that gets messy DeMarcus Lawrence needs shoulder surgery. And he is saying that he is not going to have shoulder surgery, which by the way, Jason Garrett the head coach of the Cowboys can. Firm that he needs DeMarcus Lawrence is saying he's not gonna get shoulder surgery until he is under a long-term deal. So if you're DeMarcus Lawrence to you do the lady on bell, dancing, you just don't sign that tag. And you just don't have shoulder surgery. This seems kind of eighty Arctic if you're if you're DeMarcus Lawrence, a it's twenty point five million dollars be how bad can your shoulder bee? Are you holding your kids are you lifting weight? That's kinda that's this is a messy thing. And let's be honest. Is there a better pass rusher? That's going to be available this off season, then DeMarcus Lawrence that guy's a stud. If you're the Dallas Cowboys unions make this happen. How about the Houston? Texans JV on cloudy wanna talk about messy JV on gets the tag today. But is he a defensive end or is he a linebacker because as I said with d Ford the linebacker numbers about fifteen point four million dollars. But I guarantee JVM wants to be a defensive end because. Offensive end number is seventeen point one million dollars is the defensive end or is the aligned Becker. I guess it depends on who you ask. And speaking defensive end how about Frank Clark seventeen point one million bucks for the Seahawks? Their defensive end. He's a great football player. And the funny thing is Frank Clark and DeMarcus Lawrence they're gonna play off of each other. And this is I like in this to Bryce Harper Manny Machado in baseball who's gonna sign I in for how much because if Frank I you know, DeMarcus is going to ask for more in vice versa. Seventeen point one million dollars. Frankly, I'm more willing to pay DeMarcus Lawrence long-term than I am. Frank clark. There is some I don't know. There's I like Frank Clark. And I think he's equality football player. But it'll be interesting to me to see exactly where Frank Clark winds up at the end of his career. How great do we all think? Frank Clark OB, and we'll find out do they make a long-term peeler is Frank take that tag. My guess is that Frank Clark. Is going to take that tag. Because I still think they're trying to transition a little bit out of the Earl Clark legion of boom in Seattle. So those are some interesting numbers DeMarcus Lawrence, they should work that out some kind of on DaMarcus side. Dallas Judy and cloudy, bro. You're hurt so much. You've been off the field so much take the even if it's fifteen take that one year tag, get yourself healthy and have a great year, and then come out and get a long term deal. And if I'm if I'm Frank Clark com. Probably taken that seventeen point one million dollars..

"Yes. If I'm the players union that is where my focus is the problem with the market. The fact that Bryce Harper Manny Machado or are signing these giant deals does not mean that all is. Well, with three agency making that argument rose, they get paid their outlier. Their superstars will afraid into the twenty six. The problem is you have veteran players good veteran players that are being passed over just because teams would rather pay. Maybe get a little less production, but pay a lot. So I think we're gonna see time moves on to the next TV. Should there's got to be from. We'll changes to maybe help younger players get paid all the earlier. So that it's more reasonable than older players aren't gonna understand. Why veterans aren't gain the contract? They used to get. I mean, it makes sense. But I think players feel like, hey, I didn't get paid when I was young. And now, I'm old and you're not paying me either. You can't have it on both ends with right now. It seems like the owners sort of our winning at every stage of a player's career. And is they're more concerned these days about for lack of a better word tanking. That teams are looking at it saying if they're in the American League, hey, I'm not Houston are not Boston. I'm not the Yankees. We're not going to be able to compete with them. Anyway, why should I spent? The rebuilding tanking issues. Certainly been something that's been brought up a lot. And it was a it was a big issue. This time last year, especially. I think it's a it's a problem. I think maybe it's been a little little bit overblown. However by something by especially Scott Boras to bring up his competitive cancer hover puts it every time. He gets in front of a microphone, right? We buildings and going on a long time. The Astros did it in a very radical way. But I do think there's some understanding by teams that went the Astros did isn't necessarily foolproof wouldn't work for everybody in the Orioles were terrible last year. You would say they were absolutely not drinking and they had one of the worst season. We've seen in like twenty years in the Padres Padres assignment in the child. So yes, I think it's an issue. I think there needs to be incentive for teams to try to win. And I think there will be in the next CVA. However, I don't I think it's just a factor in a bigger picture of why free agency has changed so fundamentally Jared, are you trying to tell us that you think the Orioles made a mistake giving Chris Davis. One hundred sixty million dollars for seven years. That contract. You talk about a killer. Oh. Baltimore hard to even see when the Orioles are gonna win. Again. They just seem like they are in another league from the rest of the major league. It is brutal for fans in Baltimore right now. Yeah. And that's when the real dichotomy shows itself, the Yankees can make a horrible deal with Jacoby ellsbury and lived to tell about it. And the Orioles make a horrible deal with Chris Davis. And it basically handcuffs their team and kills them. So it's nice to be rich. I guess that's the bottom line. Absolutely. Look the Red Sox had by far the highest payroll major league, and they had all time elite. See them money always helps yest you could win without it. These. But when rob Manfred says that you know, there's no correlation between payroll and winning. I promise you there are a lot of general managers. I would disagree with that. No question about it. And of course, Matt for jobs go, well, you know, they pretty much one with evolved. Ian, Pearce at the end, and you know, those words are most expensive layers. So there's always a way you can fight the other side, Jared good conversation. Enjoy the rest of spring training. And thanks for sharing some thoughts with us on CBS. Right. There you go. Jared diamond of the Wall Street Journal getting it done for us given us his thoughts. And he's right, of course on the pace of play..

"At superior, so I don't know what the trigger was I do not want to say this only comes down the money that we were aggressive or offer. It was extremely competitive. And I know I'm standing right now disappointed that it and get it done. I'd be disappointed to somebody had a family reunion at my expense. And then some baseball team. Yeah. I mean, you get credit for Tryon the White Sox. They acquired his brother-in-law yonder Lonzo. Why wonder how that's going to go one family member doesn't want? You might get rid of the John Jay and outfielder who's like one of his best friends. It didn't work like they they did everything they thought they had to do. They got the band together. Big provided the beverages they had the potato salad. They had the macaroni and cheese. They had the grilled steaks. And yet Manny Machado said I'm good take care of my family, but I'm going over here, and it's thicker than water, but money is figure that all absolutely. But that water out in San Diego, Chicago Santa Anna winds, and if you're gonna play for team, would you be the face of a franchise that's never going to happen. It's a cargo because even if you're the face of the franchise, nobody cares. It's all about the Chicago Cubs in that city. You get a chance to go to the San Diego Padres. And if you even get them to eighty one wins next year, they might built a statue outside of that stadium for Manny Machado. Rick. He was warm about being played by Manny Machado in that situation. Matthew listening on Sirius XM channel eighty eight seven to nine three seven seven six Matthew. Would he have to say about Manny Machado going to the Padres for ten years and three hundred million dollars? Freddie. This reminds me a lot of when Alex Rodriguez five for the Texas Rangers for like two hundred million dollars. We have some good years, but never went to World Series ever really did much Machado. Sandiego down. I know my track record for San Diego. You remember that? Of the charges. Really? Doing much with him. A lot of talent around him. It doesn't it doesn't make any sense. You're exactly right fall. You said, but here's the deal. Someone's gonna throw ten years and three hundred million dollars at me. And I get to live in San Diego. Yeah. Where do I sign up money grab Manny Machado new as a money grab? He knows the San Diego Padres have not had a winning season since two thousand ten he knows that he's going to drop off the face of the baseball earth baseball, which is great bus during the regular season last year. Benny had the dodgers versus the Red Sox. They had not had any buzz at all in the off season outside of the collusion by the owners, not the play free agents along the lines of Bryce Harper Manny Machado earlier than well. He got from the from the San Diego Padres. Now. But you know, what I would have taken the money to Eric hosmer eight years one hundred and forty four million dollars. If you're going to get paid that kind of money why not have it in San Diego? One of America's finest cities where the weather every day in seventy seven and sunny, right? You know, what no one ever says I hear San Diego's. Nice this time of year. No needles. Nice. Every week. Every day. What's by Tony? Tony, Tony it never rains in southern California. It never rains in San Diego. So yeah, I'm with you. It's a money grab it seems to be a win win. But here's the other side of that. It has nothing to do with Bryce Harper. It has nothing to do with Mike trout. It has nothing to do with that kind of money. Manny Machado is about the disappear for the next couple of years because the Padres are not any any good. And as great as he is as great as he's been as great his talent is there's only so much that he can do real quick, Donna Maui. Would he got to say about this situation? Manny Machado, my friend. I think the the happiest person about this has gotta be Bryce Harper. Because. His payday after this one. Is this going to be? Thomas. His pain is going to be enormous. Anyway, I don't think he's getting ten years Bryce Harper Machado contract. He said, yeah, I was going to get that. Anyway. The question is for how many years period in the story. Even the Phillies general manager McClintock. He said this Manny Machado is three hundred million dollar deal. We had a pretty good idea of where this thing was going. If the reports are true, then this contract will see out valuation, and sometimes you have to be willing to walk away. If they're going to sign Bryce Harper. Remember that statement with Phillies general manager mclintock's said about Manny Machado game three hundred million dollars. Sometimes you have to be willing to walk away. It may not be that great for Bryce Harper when it's all said and done in terms of years and that contract that he's looking for..

"Be a lot of pressure. There's a lot of people obviously that are ready for Eli to be done. Now. Over under eight for Eli. So I'm going to go under. I'm gonna go under you know, what this looks like to for me. And again, you're to flip younger remember this? But. When I was a kid. I was a Magic Johnson and the Lakers fan like I loved the Lakers. And I remember going out to visit family in L A one year as a kid and watching Kareem Abdul-Jabbar just slow like he looked like Dirk going up and down the floor at the all star game just knees going away, slowly moving up and down. No bounce in his step. No, hops. He guided every rebound the came directly to him, but he didn't get much like he hung around the league about three years too long. That's what I feel allies doing. He's on a bad team that people thought were gonna make major strides a year ago. The giants did not do that. They were wildly disappointing. He's hanging around sixteen. Sees I I don't. It's time. And if it means that you're going to start a rookie to usher Eli out the door. You may have to do that. I'll go over ago under eight games allies starts for the giants. Next year. Awesome. Last one up four point five weeks. The amount of time before Bryce Harper Manny Machado or on new teams and four point five weeks is opening day. Oh, they will be on open. They'll absolutely be on opening day roster. So less under under four and a half with could you imagine if they weren't it sounds like there's a lot of fire here with Harper the Phillies, I saw Jim bowdoin former GM of the nationals. I saw him on CBS sports talking about how he expected something soon thought, maybe even this weekend. It could happen. Now, you got Tim Kirkwood San lookout something's going to happen with Harper Machado side somewhere day or two later, and it might be San Diego or the White Sox Phillies. Don't have any interest in Machado. Even have Harper goes somewhere else doesn't like the nationals have any interest in him. But the fact that the dodgers and Yankees enter the dodgers had Machado, but they didn't even really expressed interest in Harper. They'll both be on route. I would say they'll both be on rauscher's in one week. You think Philly's is going to be one of the team? They gonna end up with Harper Machado who do you think Harper? There's a there's a lot of trusted people out there saying the Phillies and Harper really close. So I'll I'll ride with those people I won't be too contrary in their house that listen you watching the alliance of American football, you watching it. "Here's on. Andrew. Closer to the end of all star weekend and team LeBron James hamper versus team Jaanus. I'm sure a lot of people to put a lot odds a lot of money. This is why we have sports gambling, folks. I told you this is just the beginning. Just the start of it as we'll soon be able to vote on the Oscars already New Jersey are allowed to for this year's Oscars. So think about all the props and all the different ways that you can make something like TB, honest versus team. Lebron exciting. It's beyond just simply betting on the game. They're going to be tons of it happening. But this is a closure in Charlotte. And when you look back at the weekend that was it was lacklustre dunk contest three point contest, which has not changed or aged at all. It's just been the same thing over. It's the Simpsons. It really is the Simpsons the kids of the same exact age Homer. Simpson's doing the same. Exact dumb stuff Marge's going frantic, pulling her hair out the narrative might change some of the stories might change. But the kids downright to Homer and Marge the same everything looks the exact same. But it's repurpose and repackage and you have a skills competition and North America versus the world. Anyway, you want to sell whatever the hell Friday night is. But the reality of what this weekend really was. It was about Michael Jordan. And just think because we look at the NBA and really how successful this league has been on and off the court, and how close it's getting to being just dominant twelve months a year a conversation that you talk about the NBA beyond just when it's being played into the postseason, and it's getting they're not like the NFL. But we know nothing is still we use the NFL is this barometer. That's why baseball seems to be slipping despite more rumors as we get closer to Bryce Harper Manny Machado, signing that fatigue still setting in the reality here with the NBA is Michael Jordan, still hold so much weight. And his name is still so powerful in the NBA. Can you imagine? If Peyton Manning were Notre. Can you imagine what the NFL would be doing which is a league that is experiencing even more success, and what they would be doing in that regard. Pay a lot with the NBA all star game kyri Irving making the decision..
Adam Wainwright: MLB Players Will '100 Percent' Go on Strike, Barring Change
"Long-term deals, obviously. It's no secret that the players are upset with how things are being handled this off season with Bryce Harper. Manny Machado, Adam Wainwright from St Louis cardinals chimed in on this. And he said in a recent radio interview that unless something changes there's going to be a strike one hundred percent and continued by saying that he's worried players might just walk out mid so on size are offsides. Major league Baseball Players Association will strike within the next few years onsides because you have a problem here. Flyers having to wait so long to get a contract or players not getting paid what they think they are worth. Now, there could be there should be some Justice baby from the players, but it's a problem in the sport right now. And yes, if it continues, which you have no reason to believe that it will stop. I will think that eventually be a strike the players will be fed up. And it'd be terrible for baseball. Because that's a sport. That is not as popular as it once was and if you alienate your younger fan base with the strike and not give them baseball. Yeah. You could lose a big portion
Is MLB in dire straits?
"I guess that I was listening to g bag earlier, and they were talking about the dire situation that the MLB is in. A large chunk of their high paid players were free agents or what would have been high paid free agents the past year. And now this year, namely, Bryce Harper and Manny Machado. Still remain unsigned gone or the ideas that you're going to get a ten year three hundred and fifty million dollar contract. Which is what Bryce Harper's asking. So I guess my first question was. Was the one that they discussed earlier how bad is this going to be for major league baseball. But the more I thought about it the more I kinda parallel the to something that we see in the NBA we sit here, and we watch the rising stars game tonight. You got all star weekend this week. And no there's not really a threat of a lockout coming anytime soon in that league. But the NBA for me has become largely unwatchable aside from my team here in Dallas and for the past four years up until last year, really my interest level the Mavs had dropped off significantly because it just wasn't exciting basketball. But you know, who's going to win every year, or at least going to be in the championship. It feels like the warriors have owned the west, and the LeBron's have owned the east that changes a little bit now, but still probably going to see warriors and somebody else. So my question is auto flex lease and fan text eight seven seven eight eight one one zero five three. Assuming the MLB does go into a lockout which could potentially go from half a year up to. Who knows maybe a year and a half? Maybe it's longer you'd assume they'll figure something out at that point. Is that going to turn you away from baseball? Or are you more worried about the NBA, and the fact that for the large majority of people viewership has kind of gotten a little bit less consistent because you just feel like, you know, who's going to be there. Yeah. A parody wise. I see your point in in basketball, especially because when LeBron was in Cleveland the last three years you knew all right? We're pretty much on a collision course, Cavs warriors NBA finals, unless you just really enjoy watching basketball wake me up when it's June in the final start and find out who wins that thing because it became a pretty solid grudge match warriors one Cavs one warriors than go. Go ahead and win the next two. So from that point of view, I get that. But I do think we're starting to see hopefully the. What happens is off season will dictate a lot this Katie leave. What happens with clay? Maybe we start to see the dominance of Golden State, Wayne. And now we're opening up to a new wave of teams. Whether it's the Mavericks with Luca Danni kitchen Kristaps Porzingis who has Charles Barkley said earlier today, they go ahead and add one more free agent. They can all of a sudden very quickly changed the balance of power. And I hope they do. I like I said like having Luca and last year when he got Dennis Smith junior that injected the excitement that I needed back into the Mavericks, and for me, I finally feel like there's some hope which is drawn me back into watching the Mavericks and kind of slowly drawn me back into watching the NBA in general. But I would imagine I'm not the only one out there who watched four or five years of the same thing over and over and over again, especially here in the Metroplex. We're Mavericks basketball was pretty tough to watch on the counter, though, what had you glued into watching any ranger base. Ballgames aside from work in a let's say, it's not your job to go ahead and pay attention to Rangers baseball. Are you really invested not only in the Rangers? But in the MLB in general. Past year to know because the Rangers have been have been bad they've been underperforming, but I mean three years ago four years ago when I was not watching Mavericks basketball every year. The Rangers were winning the most games in the American League American League once and won another division title. So like, at least, I guess some recency bias there or some semblance of it. Like, I was interested in Rangers baseball. So I'm a baseball fan at heart. And it's really weird for me to say it basketball is my first love, and I could never I would never have imagined myself falling out of love with watching the game of basketball. But because of the circumstances not just in my team. But with the entire league I bail for a while. Yeah. I mean, we go through peaks and valleys, I can understand what you're saying there. But I think the NBA is about to be right back in that kind of interest realm for you to where you're going to be back in there for baseball. I think that's where the issue is. You got to six point five percent attendance down from last year. They're already looking into rule changes such as pitch clock. How many batters can face one pitcher given a pitching change basically ways to make the game quicker? And that's the issue baseball slow, and quite frankly to a lot of people baseball is boring for the NBA it's fast pace. Now. That's until you get into the final few minutes and teams wanna go ahead and start failing over and over again. And you get to the situation where it's like, man. Let's just go ahead and let this baby end. But otherwise, it's two and a half hours. It's uptempo. It's fast pace basketball can be fun and exciting even if it's not a team that you have a rooting interest in you can turn on a basketball game. And it's appealing to the is for. For baseball unless you're a purist. Or unless you just grew up really loving the game. It can be a very tedious boring sport to watch. And I think that's why you're starting to see especially with his younger generation that hasn't grown up with the heritage of America's pastime being baseball now that it's moved onto football. I think baseball is in far more trouble now to Mike bastards point earlier. There's articles dating back to the seventies that talked about baseball dying. And here it is. I don't think baseball is dying. I don't think it's going anywhere. But I think it is starting to get to the point where it will be eclipsed in terms of the top four by the NBA. That's my opinion. I think the NBA especially to the younger audience they're doing a much better job of featuring and showcasing their players. It's more entertaining. It's faster pace. Even if baseball adopt. Some of these different rule changes to help speed the game of pace up a little bit which will help some. I don't think it's helping enough. And if they have a walkout, and you're outta sight outta mind that will be devastating, and it is really interesting too. Like, I guess there's no true analog for the NBA. College basketball is probably the closest thing that you've got the WNBA exists. But I I think we'd all be lying to ourselves. If. You watched more than maybe highlights at scrolled across your TV if you're the average casual sports fan, Reggie, I hope I didn't offend you there as far as our resident WNBA watcher here. Oh, not offended at all. But like with baseball. What's the alternative? If the MLB goes away. Watching college baseball. Not watching minor leagues. Probably like there is no Terrell turn. If you don't have March madness to save you that disappears especially for more than half a season. We start talking like you like bask- was saying you missed the point you missed the playoffs. Twenty twenty one and then missed the entire twenty twenty two season. I guess for one the players don't have anywhere to go. So you don't feel you're going to lose them. But as your viewers go, you're right baseball, truly would kind of fall out of sight outta mind. It's already dying game. Is there anything that they can do to stop it? They're trying. I think these rule changes they're trying to implement our sign that they're moving forward in a positive direction. They understand these games when you're talking three and a half to four hour baseball games. It's just too long for the people that aren't just in love with baseball. And from the chew on for the whole game of baseball strategy to me basketball's boring until the final two minutes will to them. It is that's fair. Okay. That's all right. But you a lot of people. They're not interested in the strategy. That is baseball. They wanna see doubles triples home runs. They wanna see instant gratification right to the two one four, and this is the other area that I think puts you off basketball that we were talking about off air that. I don't think you've gotten to quite yet. Players own the NBA owners owned the MLB the NBA has kind of transition here into an issue or you've got LeBron James she thinks he can just go ahead and handpick in move players around and be the the the chess king here, that's moving all these different pieces. How he sees fit in the NBA the MLB clearly didn't have that problem. We just talked about some of the biggest names in the sport, Bryce Harper. Manny machado. They still don't have a team that sign them and JD Martinez last year. Huge reason the Red Sox went on to win the World Series. Didn't get signed till February the tough thing though, there is like it's very clear that one player can make a massive massive difference in the NBA one player in baseball, especially if it's someone at the plate. You can only do

"All right. We return third and final segment. Say Gregory, this has gone on forever. I feel like this is the thirteenth or fourteenth episode in which we've talked about Bryce Harper Manny Machado, and I'm hoping this is going to be the last one for the while because I believe Bryce Harper and Manny Machado will both sign within the next week. And let me tell you why pitchers and catchers reported baseball season is here, my friend, and these guys it's the time the time to the time to wait. And wait this thing out is over. I honestly think that both guys were stubbornly waiting for the other one to sign I do because there's benefits tangible benefits, I guess more so for Machado, but but Harper as well, so especially with these short term deals like. There's been talk that you know, the Padres. And the giants would be interested in short-term lucrative contracts for Harper. Let's call it something like the two year eighty million dollar range if that happens, then all of a sudden you're looking at a bidding war between Philadelphia and Chicago for Manny Machado for the record. I believe when this is all said and done Machado's white sock Harper's affiliate, but Harper Machado would stanch make more money if Harper signed and all of a sudden you had to teams desperately fighting for a services and with one of them knowing they're not going to get one of the major free agents. They were hoping for this off season for Harper. I don't know it's it's a little bit a little bit different a little bit less clear. Why he would wait? I guess maybe the upside for him and waiting is if Machado happens to get a deal that is bigger than expected. Then there's more leverage for Harper to get a bigger deal as well. But the. Times come the time has gone. Both of these guys are going to be in camps by the time. We talk next week. I'm so sick of both of these guys for sure I'm so sick of major league baseball free agency in general this used to be the hot stove, Chris. They used to be the hot stove now. I don't know what it is. It's like, it's a deep freezer. Dick euless like, it's the yeti cooler of of, you know, transactional talk when it comes to free agency. It's the most boring drawn out absolute just like snooze fest. And you know, what's going to happen is Bryce Harper is going to sign I he's gonna sign I because there's only one bidder there's only one bidder that's willing to give him the amount of years and the amount of money that he's looking for or at least close to it this Chicago get involved in that if they lose Machado to call it San Diego. No, San Diego's not getting anyone I've every year San Diego pops up is this team that they might sign this guy. They might sign that guy. They're going to be interested in talking to them. And they ended up with Ryan Klesko. That's that's just what happens they made a big signing last year that they immediately regret, and whose name escapes me the first baseman, I think, but I don't know Gonzales. No Adrian Gonzales was before he went to the dodgers. This is it's a broken system for sure though. So when we look at this Bryce Harper Manny Machado, Dallas kaikal Craig kimbrel. Mike moustache is Marlin Gonzalez GIO Gonzalez. Adam Jones, all of these guys Jose glaciation. Josh Harrison clay Buchholz servants Santana. Evan gattis. All these guys still unsigned still without teams as pitchers and catchers report. It's crazy. You know in a lot of this. I do think that once that I know falls, the other ones are gonna come very quickly after there's been a lot of talk about Philadelphia wants to sign Harper kaikal and kimbrel. I don't that's going to be challenging salary cap wise at this point, we got cigar money, man..

"Radio to do between now. And let's say another hour and twenty minutes. That's all we got left damn shows where I long touching on all sports in play today. Not playing a whole bunch of defense on its NBA game. I'm watching Lakers. Sixers Lakers, excuse me. Sixers have seventy two points and it's not half yet. There's like one second life. So basically halftime but six already put up seventy two on a way to four hundred and forty four damn maybe they'll do a better rating today than they did by us night Saturday night is the graveyard of television. We shall see. We'll put the basketball and football side for a couple of minutes to talk baseball one of the best who covers it nationally. He does hope for Bleacher report, buddy. Scott Miller hops on with us here on CBS sports radio. Scotty. Jodi, how about yourself pretty good? What camper you hitting first? Good question. I'm mad to Florida on Wednesday. I imagine the Yankees will be up soon. But yeah, it's almost here and mapping it all out here over the next day or two now, that's one isn't it just laying it out figuring. What camp you're gonna head who's going to be wear? What time in the like I've done these spring training thing. I've never done Arizona. I only went out there once and it would just for a one day thing. And I went to a game. And then I came into the camp thing. How does Arizona and Florida compare? You know, you less driving in Arizona. Most people like Arizona better because they get spoiled heiress Sona the fifteen teams out there. Are all within about a forty five minute radius of the Phoenix area. So you get out there you get into your hotel. You just unpack her couple of weeks and you go camp to camp there, Florida a lot more driving tap up down south of for Myers across the state over to the Palm Beach area, you're up in Orlando. The rental car gets a lot for work. I also. So does your suitcase because you know, you young back in the Tampa area maybe for a couple of days or a few days, and then you got to pack up check out of the hotel drive to our south of Fort Myers or maybe an hour east over to Orlando. You're over the place. They're understood and somehow the drive didn't bother me unless you get caught on I four and it's bumper to bumper. And you're standing still then nobody nobody likes that. But that's okay. It's got wanted to get talk a little boat spring training, the two big free agent still outside looking in. And when that will get done, but maybe more so than anything else. These potential rule changes kind of came out of left field. Didn't even know that the baseball was having ongoing confrontation with the players union about potentially changing the game. Did you see this one coming because I didn't they were no incident as far as I knew, but you are more entrenched on a day in day out basis. Did just the fact that. Were having these conversation come as a prize to you? It all that art did that because baseball is looking pretty hard at a number of different things. I mean attendance declined about four percent last year last season the first year ever and more than one hundred years of baseball history that there were more strikeouts. Than hits in the game. I believe it was the average was about one ball put in play every four four and a half minutes. So there's a lot of time in these games. And you know, baseball, very the public. The public statement is. A lot of the declining attendance last year, they had to do with just wretched weather in the east and mid west in April, and may well, maybe so, but, you know, Toronto Blue Jays dropped a million and a attendance. They've got a retractable roof there are some issues out there that, you know, while baseball's not panicking, they they are watching closely and within that I think is the debt time games. And so they're talking to different different ownerships talking the players union about different ideas. And that's what we saw come out. So. So quickly that we'll see them this year the designated hitter in the National League, for example. I it would be ridiculous to try to jam that in this year because you need to give the National League teams some lead time, you know, they could've spent a winter looking for D H, and they didn't. So I think eventually we're gonna see that. We'll see some other changes. I don't think we're gonna see anything drastic this year, except I will not be surprised if there's a pitch clock in to try to check somebody's pitchers up to throw the ball already. And rob Manfred put a call to Scott Miller tomorrow and said, Scott, you Brad, you've heard these topics we've been kicking back and forth. But we're looking to prioritize year night saying what is the most important, but what is the one we should deal with like the day, and we should be able to handle something and upgrade with today which aspect of the game. Would you say they need to dress? I. You know, I think you could look at a couple of things, you know, we've heard the whether they do something with the shift or not is going to be very controversial. But I think I would not mind seeing baseball outlawed the severe shifts in other words. The best thing I've heard it terms of this is maybe draw a line and your mind's eye from home plate straight through the pitcher's mound through second base all the way to center field and the idea with the. Either play your infielders wherever you wanna play them. But two guys have to be to the lot of that imaginary line at two guys have to be to the right of that imaginary line. I think that is something worth considering because. Yeah. So far, we're not seeing hitters just to the to the severe ships. And if baseball doesn't do anything with the shifts my hope would be the sorts of self out over the next two or three years and hitters. Learn to go the other way learn to do something with the shift. So that's one thing. I have to say I'm intrigued by the. The potential of okay or relief pitcher would have to face a minimum of three batters. Because again in terms of the dead time in the game. I'm I think I'm a baseball purist at heart. But on the flip side what when the games just grind to a halt. When the bullpen doors open anymore. And, you know, the idea of a manager goes out brings in a reliever he faces one guy then the manager goes out gets another reliever basis one guy, then maybe you have a third reliever and three batters that just like I say rides a game to a halt. I think it's worth looking into this idea where a relief pitcher if that's rebounders at least as two faced two batters. In other words Baltimore hitters, right? That might be the compromise. Because it is now one you have to pay. He's one can't come in warm up. They put up a pinch hitter you go. All right, never mind. So they do have to face one. They've suggested three maybe to meeting in the middle is actually a pretty good compromise. I'm what you that intrigues me. And I like the potential of it. I putting rule changes aside is this Bryce week Manny week or patients. Once again baseball fans week. Patients once again wake. Most you know, as we know pitchers catchers report this week. We've got a couple of the Morrow Oakland and Seattle. They opened the season early in Japan their pitchers get going early by Wednesday or Thursday. Everybody's pitchers catchers. And then the position players come into wait. I'm gonna say Manny, Bryce, they're still more urgency, even though pitchers and catchers are and I think it's gone this long. I think it's going to drag out another couple of weeks fair enough. When does and I know that every day to pass it right now a team that's going to sign him as missing out on something marketing getting sales up to speed and selling more tickets and adding to your base and everything else, but win in your opinion does a player actually start to hurt himself and or his new team because he's not there purely from production on the field mode. I think it's I think it's different for pitchers than hitters. I think we saw that evidence that I mean, it's no secret. I think pitchers need pretty close to a fall sprang to get ready. And you know, we saw a couple of guys last year there were that signed so late guys like Alex job. And and as a result, they had you know, I don't think it was that they had very disappointing seasons. Hitters. Yeah. I think you can be ready in two or three weeks. So I don't think whether it's Bryce Harper Manny Machado or somebody else. I think even if they didn't sign till the first week of March or so or secular week. I think they'd be okay. From Bleacher report, I guess you're on CBS sports radio there. The the big too many embrace certainly they're good enough that they could swing the balance of an off season for whatever team they're going to land with. But there are a whole bunch of other free agents out there that are still some useful certainly a kaikal or kimbrel would be right behind Manny in brace for me. And then they're all bunch of other free agents that are still available. Understood that there are still moves to be made. But if we just snap shouted today. You're on February tenth what team is at the best off season for you. Billy's have done pretty good. I like the dish of genes to Gora, you know, a couple of the other guys David Roberson. I think that they. I think the Phillies they still need to side Machado or Harper. But they've been fairly aggressive. I like what Atlanta's like Atlanta. Adding Josh Donaldson. I think that's a big play. I would like what the nationals did add a Patrick carbon batter if they still had Bryce Harper. And who knows they still might have rice Arbor? So it other words, I guess no surprise, but you have to look into that National League east. I think you see some teams that are trying to win that division and making some moves some of the other divisions have been a lot less aggressive. I think it's the most improved division in all of baseball. San Francisco Giants jumping in late into the Harper mix, depending on who you read what you believe the meeting that they had went well that this might be more than just a loss leader for boroughs to try and leverage other teams to get the kind of numbers that he's looking for had a spirited conversation. Between their star pitcher, Madison. Bumgarner and Bruce Bochy about quote, unquote, use of openers this year at the giants after being the best team in baseball for a period of time three World Series win spread out over a couple of years, but a major contender and a team that had parades have become an also ran the last couple of years gains going to be interesting this season. I'm to say, yes. And the big Jodie is. I don't mean they're going to be interesting in a way that means. Oh, yeah. They're going to be back and they're going to win. I think they're going to be interesting. One way or another because if they back we we know some of their core is still together. Like BUSTER Posey. Randy Crawford ran belt if Quaid on some margin, stay healthy all year. If if all that happened, they've got pieces in other words to where you could see the Tuchel for rebound..

"Hundred dot com. Make sure you get the word out on social media as well. Because some of these schools, I would say Mesa ridge and rampart or two of the best in terms of getting the vote out. So that's what you. Eric kademi fans Coronado fans. Vista ridge fans are against so spread the word and get your student athlete on this show on Friday. We are just what a week or two away from pitchers and catchers reporting for spring training and. Harper Bryce Harper. Manny Machado are have yet to sign anywhere in Ken Rosenthal wrote something for the athletic today. Talking about somebody who might influence Bryce Harper and Manny Machado in terms of getting them signed or setting the market. And that person just so happens to be Nolan are Nado can MLB dot com. This was Thomas Harding spoke to dick Montfort, and dick Mumford said, quote, I think we've gotten to the point where we're to the finals were to the crescendo, and quote that is even a more optimistic timeline than I had thought I thought this was going to be an ongoing thing through spring training, maybe into like the first month or two of the season wrapping these things up, but if you trust what dig Montfort saying or you buy into his optimism this thing might be done before they break camp, which is certainly heartening. Now, Ken Rosenthal is saying if no-one are an auto gets eight years. For two hundred and fifty million dollars. Because there's no doubt the Rockies are going to sign him for less than three hundred million. Even and Nolan might be able to garner three hundred million maybe out on the open market. I'm a little bit skeptical of that idea too. Because again, we're sitting here and Bryce Harper. Manny Machado have signed nowhere. My guess is if anybody offered either guy three hundred million dollars they'd be signed by now. Even know knowing are not oh is a better player than both Machado Ambrose Harper in his more deserving of a contract like three hundred million dollars. The fact of the matter is that MLB owners are not inclined to cross at three hundred million dollar number anytime soon and the Rockies won't be. But this is always what happens you're always going to for the sake of security. Maybe you get an extra year tacked on where you might not get that in free agency. But if you sign an extension before your contract is up you're not going to get as much money as you get on the open market, usually. Again with the. You can call it cheapness. You could call it the how wise the MLB owners are whatever. However, you want to characterize it. The best deal for Nolan are and auto could be to re up with the Rockies. Now. I mean, who's to say that Harper and Machado aren't influencing Nolan's decision. To say is that really what I wanna do next offseason? I have I've been I have to be relegated to meeting with the Padres to try and either get a deal done or or drive up the bidding. So. I do. I do believe dick mom for when he says that they're getting close doesn't mean it could all fall apart, right? But I do believe him when he says that we're getting. To the crescendo here because I think Nolan is looking at his colleagues in Manny Machado and Bryce Harper in saying, I don't want to go through that. And there's no doubt that Nolan loves it in Colorado, and the Rockies certainly aren't going to low ball Nolan are not, oh, they value him in one thing that we have noticed throughout the course of Rockies history is they value to the point where they overvalue people managers players. The Rockies sometimes love their own too much. By in this case, it could be ended up being a good thing because it could get Nolan Arnott's deal done. And I don't love the idea of ten years. I don't like the super long term contract. But. Nolan can always go Nolan's never been as banged up. His Troy to Lewinsky was and no one could make the move across the diamond to first base at some point. He's just too valuable to this team. And if he leaves and they don't find anyone to replace him. Then that window that that Rockies have open right now, we'll slam shut. And we'll be back to five years of building up Nolan right now is worth every penny in every year. They give him on that deal every contract ages badly every single one. But if it's gonna take ten years if it's gonna take two hundred and eighty million to play to pay I should say your best player your most important player. The best player. Your franchise has ever seen. Then I do it. I do it. There's always going to be a dodgers or angels or Yankees or Red Sox that are willing to take on a massive contract. If they feel like it would be the missing piece. But with Nolan are I'll when do you think you'll get into that? If you're okay with eight years, you're talking about two additional years. Where the Rockies are now who wants to even think a decade into the future. You kidding me? We're worried about this year. It's this year. The Rockies have got to make their move. So. We'll all regret thirty eight year old Nolan are Nado. Playing first base batting two twenty-five. But I'll say I'll take the previous seven or eight years. And deal with the last couple. I mean, they're going to bring back Carlos Gonzales for Pete's sake. Nolan. Are not.

"End of the day like I said, I spent the last eight years trying to do what everybody else wanted to of make decisions in Toronto validate throughout the personnel managers anybody in this business, and I don't know anybody even NFL free agency gets the attention of people. And yeah, you have two guys in the prime of their careers. Bryce Harper and Manny Machado and crickets in major league baseball. It's gotten to the point that you could do like a wears WALDO with Bryce Harper Manny Machado in terms of where they're going to go. Where are they what is the contract? Looking like, I can't recall a sport like that. That's still makes a lot of money. Major league baseball makes billions and billions and billions of dollars. They are not hurting at the line getting their checks cashed. But yet sue free agents like that. Young in the prime of their careers who both played in major cities Bryce Harper in Washington and Manny Machado in Los Angeles at the being traded from Baltimore another major city and yet crickets period. Can you imagine if Tom Brady ever decided to be a free agent? We could do it thirty for thirty on that every day until he signed with somebody. There's no way that that would just go off into the wind into a box on the shelf in the back of the closet, and you don't see a here from it again. It'd be front and center as it should be carry Irving Anthony Davis. Kevin Durant people. Like what what are they gonna do? What are they gonna do manual Charlton Bryce Harper to like? Oh, oh, yeah. There's still creates is aren't they? They haven't been signed by anybody at. Wow. Oh. Well, Anthony Davis. I'm wondering what he's gonna do. Kyrie Irving one way. They're going to do. Could have been great. Still pretty good. But kind of ends on a sour note. And I know that we deal with recency biased so much in sports. So we'll keep that in mind. I want to get to that in just a second. And where this blues team is. And you know, what we take from not just the trip, but from the three games in a row that they want. So Chris Kerber is going to be with me at about six thirty. We'll talk with curves about that. Also. We're going to ask curves. And I want to remember to ask curbs about Patrick Bergelin because he spoke to a Swedish outlet today and talked about the situation buffalo leaving buffalo kind of why he did it where he was perhaps mentally or emotionally, and I don't really care about the hockey aspect of it. But I know curbs was pretty close to Patrick. As a lot of us around the team were because it was hard. Not to be just such an amazing, dude. And yeah. It's kind of sucked to see what has happened. And I hope that he gets stuff together and gets in a good place. So we'll talk a little bit about that. And more coming up with Chris Kerber at six thirty a little bit of baseball to between now and seven o'clock because winter warm up starts tomorrow. We'll be over there. So looking forward to really not just talking with the club and with players coaches management this weekend. But also talking to those guys about what's happening around baseball. Because players are starting starting over the last couple of days to speak out about what's happening or more importantly, what is not happening when it comes to free agency and player movement and Evan longoria. I think basically said to paraphrase like we're not gonna settle for deals that aren't fair. So we saw last year. I think people thought last year, maybe it was a bit of an aberration. And everyone kind of said, okay, like we can understand that some of these guys aren't signed because you know. Eric hosmer. Mike stock is Jake Arrieta is like the marquee guy out there. All right. I guess you could say JD Martinez. But he went months and then signed for one hundred million dollars. But this year, everyone said well, Harper Machado, or outliers, and, you know, they're gonna get three hundred million the largest contracts ever in baseball history in this nat-. And like, I don't know. I don't know. And I don't think anyone knows right now, especially nobody because there's no way that each of those players camps and the respective organizations who are interested in them. RC night. I are being one hundred percent completely honest with each other. I just assume that part of the Goshi -ation, right and. Like have they not signed yet because they're holding out or because Scott Boras historically operates this way, or because they're drawing out the process, or because the deals that everyone thought was going to be there aren't there? And it makes sense, right? Like if everybody thought. During the two thousand seventeen season that Lance Lynn was going to get eighty million dollars or ninety million dollars or one hundred million dollars. And then he got fourteen I think it makes sense. Then that Bryce Harper Manny Machado might not get three hundred and might not even get like two hundred for eight years, but was the reported and I use air quotes because Dan Lozano the agent from Chatto came out in like directly, refuted it. But what was the reported White Sox offer Machado was at eight and one seventy or seventy one seventy. It was not three hundred million. I don't think it was even two hundred million. So. I'm interested to get some of the opinions of people this weekend in just what we're seeing around major league baseball. And I'm excited to talk some cardinals baseball because less than a month until pitchers and catchers report, it's like thirty six days till they're playing their first game. Which is unreal. "Out why Machado is getting an offer around one hundred seventy five million. When many believe BUSTER that he could get a deal at or near three hundred million when this process started. Laura Bryce Harper Manny Machado or superstars, but because of what they're looking for in contracts. There are just simply not a high volume of bidders. We know that the Philadelphia Phillies are involved in conversations with both Harper and Machado. And the question is are the Phillies playing those two players off each other. The Yankees were involved in Manny Machado, but they never actually made an offer and they have since moved on site Troy to wit skiing, DJ LeMay you, and then we had the White Sox offer that I reported yesterday in fairness his agent, Dan Lozano has said that that report is inaccurate and reckless. But now we have questions moving forward. Do the Yankees seeing where the market is a child. How do they jump back into this and try to make a deal the White Sox? Add more to their offer. Is there some mystery team hanging out there or to the Phillies simply take one of the two players or maybe even both players in Machado and Harper a great opportunity seems to have appeared for the Phillies? Yeah. Bus or the plot could be. Thickening you mentioned Harper. What is the latest with him? I look it feels like that this situation is going to drag on deep into February the way that the JD Martinez situation is he's talking with the Phillies. We know that he had an offer on the table at the end of last regular season from the Washington nationals. But when you call around you try to find out what are the teams are involved. That guy really wants to be here. But I'm not looking at it player differently because they're trying to get the most money they can for their highest life talked. I can Burlington like what's going on buddy dies. What's up, man? You great. Two days in a row. I'm feeling lucky this week Joe and the rest of the Philadelphia area. I want to see if I can change your mind on this. Nick foles talked to begin with listen first of all let me just say real quick. I do not see Nick foles leaving Philadelphia in us not getting something for him. And the reason why say that is three years ago. The eagles had invested forty million dollars in their quarterback room between Carson Wentz chase Daniel and Sam Bradford. Now, they knew they weren't going to get anything for chase Daniel the following year because he just stinks. So they actually took the cat pit which was six. I don't think I don't think it was forty. I mean, it was it was twelve it. It was seven for chase stand. It was five or Carson Wentz. It was eighteen. Well, that's that's not four. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Thirty million dollars. Thirty million dollars this year. We Carson Wentz. And Nick foles. They they they did not care that they had just gave Sam Bradford correct a two year contract. And not only did they have Carson Wentz. But they brought and chase Daniel three days later. So I don't think they care about the do. I love Nick foles in what he does this. How he Roseman eagles? Absolutely. But they gave Nick foles the platform to begin with remember when they first signed up when he first came back. It was a five year deal for twenty seven million dollars. The last three years were voided if he was on the team, basically saying if you perform well in one of these two years, of course, it goes down, you know, you're gonna have a chance to make money on the open market. But we want something for you. He's not leaving believe me how we Roseman is not letting him walk out the door without getting something for him. They gave him the platform that do that. Now, I want to speak to Nick foles is this whole misconception with Nick foles. Nick foles. Had every opportunity to sway us and the eagles into him becoming the quarterback of our future. Even with Carson Wentz being on a team the first two games of the season. Defending Super Bowl champions. Not only did we lose against Tampa Bay. But most against Atlanta to he did not play well in either one of those games his last two games to interceptions in Chicago. I know one, you know, probably wasn't on him. But he did put it on the inside of windows small what's hip to interceptions against the cargo tune receptions against the saints in in in the second playoff game. And Nick foles is last five games that he started for this year the last three regular season last two playoff games. Turn the ball over more than Carson Wentz. Take the whole season. I don't understand like he had opportunities to sway us. He's not the quarterback of our future. Joe it's not it unless he went on and we won the Super Bowl again. And he played absolutely lights out. That would be the only way I would even consider it. Carson Wentz his rookie year. He started all sixteen games force coursing showed me that. He was the future when he's getting his brains beaten against the ravens Redskins and the Cornerbacks are knowing Carol mckelvy and the running backs with Ryan Mathews, maybe six games a season. And takes us down the field against the ravens. He gets the. Yeah. I got you. When I hear your your big Carson. I get I give me. Carson guy. Joe? I'm just saying you are. And that's fine. I'm not I'm not I'm not. Hey, what's on MIR allowed to be a big Carson guides? Good. It's joe. Nick foles ever sway consistently that you could be the dog for us. Well, I mean, I don't know what can you know, consistent. If we're talking ten weeks, obviously, there's three last year. And then the stretch this year. I don't know if I can combine them, but I didn't say Nick foles should be the starting quarterback. I've said Carson Wentz should be the starting quarterback. I told you I'd give you my answer at the end of the season answers. Carson wentz. You're you're fighting the wrong guy here. Right. I mean fair I did settle on. Carson what I. I'm not remembering my own statements from earlier this week. Correct. All right. Well, here's the thing. The eagles never wavered on this. We had all of this discussion. We don't know. What would have happened if they'd kept winning? Okay. If Nick goes in in one if Nick would have won in New Orleans getting this week. They were driving two games. He didn't look special. I understand. I get it decision. Easy special Ray danger. No question. What what does he think eagles strategy should be? And what does he think the strategy regarding falls will be and everything else related to the birds as we unpack a season Ray did insurance studio for an hour. That's up ahead next year to camera..

"I mean, I think you can make that case because any team that's the most scrutinized. Now's probably the most group in history because there's more ways to scrutinize him. You know, what I mean like it used to be the Chicago Bulls. There's a lot of scrutiny Toni Kukoc Scottie Pippen refers refusing to go in on a time out, Michael Jordan, weather's teammates liked him. But you read the newspaper in the morning, and then you forgot about it until the evening news. And then you may have seen it on sportscenter. Now, it's every minute of every hour of every day. There is a an opinion on the Golden State Warriors in the problems the last over hyped sports stories, I mentioned earlier in the show. I would say Bryce Harper. Manny machado. They could sign with the dodgers both. They could both signed with the cubs. They could both sign with the Phillies. They could both sign with the Yankees and next year. If the. The team that they both signed with if if they're closer blows out his elbow in September. If the bullpen melts down if they're starting pitching suffers a few injuries. They're not winning a World Series anyway. And neither one of these players had a track record of leading team to anything of substance baseball. It's hard to evaluate one players impact on team. Bryce Harper's greatness, Bryce Arbor is quickly. Joining Carmelo Anthony to me is the most over hyped athlete of my lifetime has incredible skill. But what we see him doing competitively doesn't really rise to the amount of coverage. He's received since he was a junior college player in Las Vegas. Do you agree or disagree? Harper Machado over hyped in their free agency. Yes, very over hyped. I mean, if probably a no name middle reliever angel Miller might end up being a big requisition for the Saint Louis cardinals. Then many Machado were Bryce Harper's for whichever team. They signed with them as far as out of impact. He and to be dealt to be in the playoff conversation. Right. I mean, both of them. Could have been sitting on the sidelines in October. Absolutely. Could have happened probably should've happened now quickly. He in fact, I'll do this coming up next the final segment of China and showed their worst some stories that to me were properly hyped in two thousand eighteen some of them are going on right now. We'll tell you what those are. And we will wrap things up next right here on the rich Eisen show college football NFL football, the greatest time of the year..

"They just happen to have a cockamamie conflicts championship because it's time to serious trying to get into the big ten big twelve they're trying to get in. But I think these are the conversations that are going to end up taking place in are going to be the product of some backing by guys in people like major universities like West Virginia, the president more than a university though. Right. Doesn't have to be like a brand. It's got in my opinion. It's gotta be or you know. It's gotta have driving the FOX where like FOX's. All right. We're going to put all you to we're going to put these two divisions. Right. They get all their money. From media media is the one that really makes the you're right it, but he gets the ball rolling. I think and if the higher ups are ready to talk about it ready to consider it and talk dollars and cents which ultimately is the end game here. Then that's a good thing. Then we're moving along here. Do you think that this is the point where when they expand? And they set these strict restrictions that they've finally go to Notre Dame. And they say you need to join a conference. Do you think this is something that could they could almost force Notre Dame into the ACC or into the victim? What do you have to do that? Why? Where are they in in basketball in the ACC and they play like six teams year in football or five? They're basically in the ACC. I don't know that you have to do that with Notre Dame. If in fact, you you change the way that schools schedule, you know, what I mean? And that's ultimately what I've been just beating the table. Oh, beating his drum. You cannot. There's gotta be a better model in which you set yourself up your program up on a year in year out basis versus what we're going to be playing this slap school in four years or that slap school in four. If you're USC or Michigan or Stanford, and you say we're going to take away the conference championship games. Or even if we keep them you have to eliminate one game on your schedule because of the playoffs you think they're going to get rid of Notre Dame. No, or do you think you're going to get rid of the terrible school? You're gonna get rid of the terrible score. Really? Yeah. Why not? Why would it Michigan be like I don't wanna play Notre Dame? Then that's a loss potentially. They get so much money to play that team. That's true. In look the exposure, the quality of the opponents, you know, the history the strength of schedule those black and white photos. If those two teams don't play. For every time they play each other. They always put it on the leather helmets and tell us some stupid history, the Tory eight and four when it's raining past argh. October twelfth. And there's a quarterback by the name of John. Great. Thanks. That's why this games relevant because Notre Dame's to Michigan's number forty this. There's a lot to talk about here. And I think this is just going to get the ball rolling. A couple of things too. You know, throw what you guys tell me what you think Charlie Morton not going to be pitching for the Astros anymore. He signed a two year thirty million dollar deal with raise earlier today that kind of got the ball rolling a lot of stuff ended up transpiring at the winter meetings in baseball today. I thought this was interesting earlier today listening to AJ Hinch. And this was after the Morten deal was announced with Tampa. He said AJ Hinch said, and I'm paraphrasing here, but well, we've lost Dallas and Charlie to free agency. So we'll fill out the back into the rotation. You know at the conclusion of these meetings and probably look at that going into January. They didn't lose Dallas kaikal the free agency yet. I mean, I thought that was kind of interesting Charlie's deal was announced, but Dallas has only been rumored to sign with the Philadelphia Phillies. So it sounds as if they're operating like there's absolutely zero chance at he's back. And maybe that's not the biggest surprise. But I'll tell you. What was is it? He didn't talk about framer Valdez or Josh James in any light of them having any possibility of competing to be starting pitchers in the rotation. Just like in baseball do is is it like basketball to degree where everyone's kind of waiting for the number mega-guys to set the number. Absolutely. Especially this off season with Bryce Harper out. Let's go. So is this a really slow time? Compared like, I didn't I've never paid any intense very slow last year. Most of the guys like your upper echelon guys like Jake Arrieta. You darvish. There was a number of guys didn't sign contracts until like mid to late February last guy like Bryce Harper's can eat up. Or you know, what it is though too. It's like these teams if they have the money they have the money. It's not like they have to move salary cap guys around like the other some do some don't, you know, the teams that are I think we all believe that are serious in on the Bryce Harper Manny Machado conversation like the Yankees, even though they say they're out on Harper. But maybe still in on Machado. I don't think those guys it doesn't make sense to pay the pay players that much money anymore. But it keeps going up DA. It keeps going up and revenue if revenue keeps going up and major league baseball is now a nine and a half billion dollar a year industry right there. I think on par with the NFL in terms of revenue brought in unity tending to go up. There's a lot of people that they don't have to put the money. There's no cap. I mean, how many how many old ash stadiums? Reside in major league baseball nowadays. I mean, everybody's got a stadium. That's Bryce Harper. Go and how much money's gonna get? Gimme your best. Joe seems to think the cubs are realistically in on Harper. Icy Harper Harper probably in Philadelphia, but I would not be surprised if the price I don't know who's going to garner more money. We were talking about this earlier. I feel like I would be more willing to give Harper more than Machado. Just because I think Harper I think he's a harder. He's a tougher player. I think that's more appealing. He's better like to doesn't sound like a child necessarily makes a lot of frightens known to be like come in and make your team better. Not just by hitting the baseball and feeling but actually making the players around and more excited to play every day argument. I think that's something that teams are valuing more. I guess what I'm saying about the game of baseball that it's kind of. Everyone's kind of raised their abilities. Right. And so the difference between the Bryce Harper and in any in the average major league baseball right fielder isn't super crazy anymore. You can make it up in other places. Right. Like you can win without the Bryce Harper's on your team. Certainly I'll agree with that. And so and so he necessarily doesn't maybe he theoretically because he's the best player in major league baseball. He he should be making this amount of money. But maybe what really going to happen is it's going to rise. The title of the average Sally, which it is of major league baseball players and other guys. And maybe finally minor league. Baseball players are going gonna start getting some payments to this money. Is there to be happening? Go doesn't just have to go to one person that can be spread around a little bit. Because I don't think I don't think I think Bryce Harper. All right to the Phillies. Nice. But like I dunno. I think everyone says the Yankees just because they know they have an ungodly amount of money. Right. Well, and I feel like the Yankees. Are pretty damn close to becoming the Yankees of old with George Steinbrenner at the helm in that hate this past year. They seemingly swapped up everybody, you know, and they feel primed to now by everybody instead of trade for everybody is well like they seem to do this past season. The a lot of fun is always we'll do it again next Wednesday. My man to it getting ready for getting ready for Christmas time in. We'll see what we're talking about in regards to the Texans after this jets game week fifteen a Saturday instead of Sunday. So looking forward to that coming up next. Wade Smith Travis Johnson in Joe George Jeremy taken the night off tonight. DA we'll talk next week for David Anderson. Joe, George, I'm Shaam Johnny have a great rest of your week. Mad.
Discussion of the happenings at the MLB Winter Meetings 2018
"Yankees. Mets Marlins deal that would involve JT real Muto Noah Syndergaard Miguel and do Har. I'm Ed Rosario. Couple other moving parts real Muto into any with the Mets. The. Yenkey would end up with Noah, Syndergaard, not sure really what the Marlins would get besides Ahmed Rosario would have to be a lot more than just that for them to give up JT real Muto. I mean, no question about that. So it just comes down to just what's fun going on there at the winter meetings. We're going to check in in Las Vegas momentarily. But I'll tell you what it's just always fun to see the rumors, and how about this one, Lance Lynn. Gets three year thirty million dollar contract. I must be getting old here, but the amount of money that teams throw around on mediocre players is stunning yesterday. We talked about Andrew mccutchen whose past his prime getting fifteen million dollars a year. Now, you're talking about Lance Lynn getting ten million dollars a year. Now, it's a step back from the twelve million you made last year, but still he's not crying poverty making ten million dollars a year as an average pitcher coming off a season with a four point seven seventy IRA. Lance Lind's were ten million dollars. You can't be serious. Producer Shawn Watson Makia. Lance Lynn's a ten million dollar player in today. You're getting from the Yankees this year. Eight and a half is it. So then yeah is worth ten million dollars. Yeah. Is he worth more than of course, a bath is thirty eight and going on thirty nine these finished. But still had a better here than Lance Lynn. Right better longer. That's true. That's true. I wouldn't give in ten million a year if that's the case. So here's what I don't understand yet. What's the market going to be like for the closers like these relievers? Right. What's the market gonna be like for them? I think the market has gotten bigger and bigger for relief pitchers. And I just think that honestly like when you're the Andrew Miller's of the out of venos- or the kimbrough's or the David Robertson's Zach Britain's of the world, what's the money to be like for those guys because are they more valuable than a Lance Lynn in today's baseball. Right. Yeah. Right. I mean, are they more valuable? They are right. Well, let's in is reliever. Well, don't forget that. Well, but he's more starter. Right. He can do both. He could eat. Yeah. But I think they're bringing them in to be a starter. I would think. I think that's why you're gonna pay Lance Lynn ten million bucks. It's not my money though. That's the funny thing it's not my money. But it's just always like unfathomable to me when I look at the amount of money. Some of these players end up getting it just really incredible. I don't think we'd have the law jam like we had last year. You remember Lance Lynn didn't sign too late. He was one of those guys that was taking part of that crazy camp in Bradenton Florida the free agent training camp. Remember the spring training for the the free agent players. So he at least has signed early it. Seems that look I think what's interesting is when you talk about Manny Machado, and you talk about a Bryce Harper. You could eliminate ninety five percent of the teams in baseball from being involved in that. Right. I you know, that there's going to be ninety ninety five percent teams that are not gonna get involved. And those guys are already shopping in that bargain-basement been they're the ones that look at a Lance Lynn and say, hey, maybe there's good value there. That's the market for those guys. So I think the question's going to be for the big market teams. That may be interested in a Bryce Harper. Manny Machado when are they going to put some pressure on? The Scott Boris is the world saying, look, we gotta get something done here. Because in the meantime, other guys are signing elsewhere, right? If you're looking for an outfielder and Bryce Harper's who you've looked at and you end up not getting Bryce Harper who's going to be. Left on the market in two or three weeks, depending on when he's going to decide to sign at some point. You say, okay, we got a pivot away because we haven't gotten any word. Do we sign the Andrew McCarthy since the Phillies, frankly, did they make a statement by signing mccutchen? Which is. Yeah, we'll go and get ourselves the infielder Machado. But maybe we're not going to go after Bryce Harper. Like a lot of people say we are. Or are we going to now go out and spend another ridiculous amount of money and get Bryce Harper. We've brought in two new outfielders into the mix with Andrew mccutchen. And Bryce Harper. That's the interesting thing to me when you look at what's happening because I think teams don't wanna be used against each other. Right. Nobody wants to be put into a bidding war, and that's exactly where Scott Boras makes his money. He wants a bidding war for Bryce Harper. He wants a bidding war first clients. And the fact is a bidding war, though takes time. And if you have a bidding war teams going to get involved, and because the money is going to be so incredibly large. Then if you're willing to go thirty to thirty five million dollars a year on Bryce Harper, and you don't end up getting him. And then you have to pivot quickly away the warriors what's still left on the market by the time. I'm eliminated from the Harper competition or what's going to be left. If I'm looking for a shortstop slash third baseman wants Manny Machado signs, and I'm left holding the bag and the other names out. There are Freddie Galvez, and I'll Sita's Escobar and a Denny hetch of Iria guys who can't hit a lick. So I think that's what teams have to weigh here. Sean in terms of what exactly they need to do and getting involved with the big names, and how long are they willing to sit there and kind of have that money sitting there in escrow because they don't want obviously go out and start using it on other players to Bryce Harper makes a decision. They might be like crap we spent too much. We can't make that deal for Bryce Harper. Well, I mean, that's a possibility. But I don't see that happening. Because teams have an idea about Bryce Harper. They're talking to Scott Boris. They know if he has interest, so they're going to save the money until they hear his final answer. Yeah. But then they may hurt themselves. That is true. That's the problem. They may be hurting themselves. See I think the Phillies as much as I think they overpaid for Andrew mccutchen. Right. I think what the Phillies are looking at is. Look we need to outfielders. We're going to be in the Bryce Harper sweepstakes. Because we have a lot of money to spend. We got fifteen million dollars on the books this year and outfield with Andrew mccutchen. We can still fit another thirty thirty five million with Bryce Harper. Maybe another thirty million with Manny Machado, whatever it is. And maybe they can go out and make a big splash with everything. Right. That's the team that I think is going to be intriguing because if there's any team that potentially will go out and we'll get not just Harper, but also Machado. It's the Phillies. There's no other team in baseball right now, you can see spending money to bring in both Harper Machado and adding sixty to seventy million dollars payroll. The only team that can absorb that type of hit is affiliate because their payroll number isn't very high for next year. That would be fascinating, Sean. If the Philadelphia Phillies come out of the winter meetings or come out of the two thousand eighteen year, and they have signed Harper and Machado. And by the way, it's not crazy to think they could do it. Seriously. Heard that too. It is crazy that signing both of those guys. Why not? Why not six million? In two players for the next ten years. Yeah. They got the money. Got the money crazy. Seriously. They got the money to do it. Why not love to see it happen? I seven hundred million. Yeah, they're not doing that. I don't remember the Phillies are about to start their own regional networks soon to okay. They have a terrible TV deal. They're about to start their own regional network. To me be interesting to find out what that means financially. Because I thought there a big market team people show up at citizens Bank park, the Phillies, you know, are they make money. The question is if they get their regional network, they can be making a heck of a lot more money. If that's the case. Yes. Seven hundred million dollars over the next ten years from shadow and Harper, and you know, how packed the stands. No question about it for ten years going with those two big names. All right. So what did Tony LaRussa say backing up Harold Baines for a hall of fame induction? We'll tell you next going deep. Dan, Schwartzman, NBC sports radio in the NBC sports radio mobile app.

"Remind van across the country. CBS sports network. Bill. No Sam darnold this week. So we'll see how that whole thing works out. We'll get a look at the giants on Monday night football against Mullins mania of a football Friday tomorrow, the GM meetings Rolon and at this point. You taught me a phrase called silly season. And that's exactly what's going on. Right now. It is silly season in major league baseball where there's rumors everywhere. You don't know what to buy into you? Don't know exactly where these teams are going to go especially with the Mets and Yankees because you've got a new general manager in Brody bandwagon. And with the Mets, you're not sure how he's going to handle things. Now. Maybe that's Scott Boras comment gives us a little bit of Bill. I need to know GIO like the the Mets are not going to be spending money doesn't sound like it. But what's your shopping at Fred store? You know, that's that's just basically told shot at the Mets being a large market teams like a small market by budgeted team. So you know, that and I know that, but don't you think he would be doing that to insult the Mets and try to get them into spending more money. Like, that's exactly why he would do that. The same reason why he would say that Bryce Harper could play first base. So he could get the Yankees involved in that discussion look at somebody really wants Bryce Harper. Manny Machado bell pay for. He does. Doesn't have to do all this and less, of course, he's just trying to drum up even more support. Somehow. I don't know. I mean. I don't take anything that Scott Boris says it's not worth anything to me. I don't really care because he's only interested in one thing. And that is getting the most money for the longest amount of time for his clients, and he possibly can get so everything that he just says I goes in one ear and out the other one, I don't even care. He's like it doesn't matter to me. Now, I will listen to what Brody Ben wagon and says the CEO Brian Cashman has to say because their decisions and their comments actually means something to me the good news about our GM. Now, our GM or met GM picture of that guy gets better looking by the day. I know he looks like a he's like a male model for God's said. He he knows how to be photogenic. Right. He does every one of these pictures. He knows way look to make an a picture look at that picture right there below Scott worse. So I personally think he's a guy that should be above stop in this picture. Yeah. But that is one and some dude man, right? So. I think we are well represented. Oh, yeah. Without a doubt. I mean, the Mets if the Mets show up somewhere, and he is the guy that is representing the team. You take them a little bit seriously more seriously than it used to just based on his appearance. You're right about that. That like, you know, when he knows the cameras. I mean, does that sort of eyebrows. Well, you don't know who else never takes a bad picture. I've Boomer Esiason. Thank you very much. Appreciate that. He is very you. And you do that thing you do the skinny arm thing. You know, the skinny are move. I've I don't know what the skinny or move it. So like when you take a picture of the skinny arm move. I've never heard of this or you do it. So you know, what it is? Now. I know what it is. But I never knew that. There was a name for it. Put your arm on on your side like this or in the pocket, you put your hand in the pocket because if you're just standing there like this, then it's not a good representation of your torso. But if you stand up straight, you put your arm on your hip like that or you put like, you, do you hang your your hand in your pocket a little bit slightly bent. It's perfect. You nail. It every time. We never take incredible. And I saw some guys I appreciate it. But I'm so impressed by this that if you're. Look back. There's a guest recently, you can go through it. I tried to do what you did. Because I I was so impressed with the pictures you were taking and I couldn't stand the way. I look now I'm working on that eating better losing some weight. But I thought is there something I can do. So there is a picture where I'm doing the hand in the pocket thing that you do hoping that that would instantaneously make me look better in a picture. I have eleven years worth of boomer photos with guests. He's posed the exact same way eleven years, you could just separate him out of those photos. You would not know when they were from what year at the same post. It's amazing. It's amazing that I'm finding this out for the first time after eleven years at you have this like psycho sense of that. I do the same thing whenever like I'll take multiple photos. Yes. To make sure. No one's blinking. No one's got a weird. Look, it's never based on your phone number. You never you in the vote. You are always on point. And I think it's from years and years of being a big time celebrity. Okay. You'll try to find that one there. One recently with a guest where I decided to put my hand in the pocket. Do the boomer hand in the pocket trying but it's gonna be like guys guys have conversations about I we have and it just came up because you just mentioned how this guy is. You know, he's like always good looking. But it's you. Idea that you would we try occupations? You got Bill Burr. Bill Burr pocket. I went. I would pocket and you both now boomer's got his right hand in a pocket. You of your left? But you like pocket twins. Overlooks? Great. And you'll be like a garbage at a funeral. All right. I didn't realize that. But anyway, let's go to Lauren in Yonkers.

"About that lebron james we heard that sound bite that's whenever he went to miami and he was talking about all the titles that the miami heat we're gonna win dwayne wade and chris bosh i think people were confused they who's actually talking about stints with the cleveland cavaliers lebron apparently will not do what lebron has done in the past in terms of his recruitment two teams he doesn't want teams to put on the full court press forum them he's going to kind of lay back in already have the lay of the land of the nba already laid all out for him he knows exactly what the teams are about you might bring in some teams to cleveland to talk to him we might have his representation talk to him but in terms of like post gain or post postsigning parties like he's had in the past or all the recruiting things that we've seen lebron james in the past doesn't want that this time around i like hearing that which hopefully i saw something earlier that said that that showed like the last two times he's made his free agent free agency decision it's like an average of nine point one days for him to make so ridiculous stats for that yeah i there shouldn't be and like the crazy thing is is free agency is is essentially on hold until lebron james makes his decision every time it's happened free agency kind of stalls out and that's sad for people like me where free agency is essentially like christmas in the summer it's one of my favorite times of the year because mba free agency is different than any other league where one to moves like one person can completely change the face of a franchise if you're like a middling bad team you add one big name in free agency it happens a lot and it can completely change your trajectory as a team and so i love seeing where guys go how the makeup of the nba changes but when lebron james is the big fish on there before he makes his decision it puts a whole holding pattern on all of the fun and it makes me angry but how often do you see that though miami is miami and it's great but market size there one of the smaller smaller market teams so it happened for them but meeting it could happen to like milwaukee and indiana i think i mean not indiana milwaukee right now just because the greek freak is there it could happen they're like you talk about i mean the franchise has to draft their their franchise cornerstone to make that work where it's enticing enough for player to wanna come there and then you got to think about ownership is ownership willing to take on and pay over the salary caps keep a core like that around that's always usually big problem but it does happen and i think even whenever you're big market teams when they're bad they have the chance to get better by adding some of these big name for ages it's fun to watch the the makeup of the nba change year to year where you could get something different which we haven't lately but you could get something different just based off where one or two guys go i do love the hot stove league in really any any of the sports i like basketball it's great in baseball always whenever you have you know whereas in this year coming up in baseball you have some huge free agents bryce harper manny machado clayton kershaw could be a free agent i mean sometimes the off seasons more fun than the regular season especially if you're a team that's not very good yeah if you're the cleveland browns the off seasons a lot more entertaining because one you're winning the same amount of games to you're going to the you know the nfl draft we have two of the top five picks you're signing some free agents are getting.
