"Philadelphia Phillies slugger Bryce Harper is expected to return to the lineup on Tuesday, 160 days after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. The two time national league MVP indicated on Instagram that an appointment with doctor Neal eletro on Monday went well and that he was cleared to return. The Phillies said when Harper had surgery on November 23rd that he was expected to return around the all star break in mid July. Philadelphia was set to begin a three game series against the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Monday. I'm geffen cool bar.

Their <Speech_Male> personalities, <Speech_Male> the cities that they're <Speech_Male> going in, I <Speech_Male> think when we look <Speech_Male> back on that Machado <Speech_Male> Harper <Speech_Male> free agency, I think <Speech_Male> both guys <Silence> picked <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> the city <Speech_Male> and the team <Speech_Male> that fit <Speech_Male> their personalities <Speech_Male> best. <Speech_Male> Or that they are personalities <Speech_Male> could at least <Speech_Male> adapt to <Speech_Male> best. I think <Speech_Male> those are two of the <Speech_Male> perfect examples. You're <Speech_Male> right. Harper has fit <Speech_Male> in perfectly in Philly <Speech_Male> and Manny <Speech_Male> certainly has fit <Speech_Male> in perfectly in San Diego. <Speech_Male> Both of <Speech_Male> them faced off against each <Speech_Male> other in an LCS <Speech_Male> last year. <Speech_Male> It kind of all <Speech_Male> came full <Speech_Male> circle at that point. <Speech_Male> Obviously Philly <Speech_Male> was able to <SpeakerChange> get to a World <Speech_Male> Series. But I agree. <Speech_Male> It's a good point. <Speech_Male> California <Speech_Male> cool from <Speech_Male> Machado <Speech_Male> silly <Speech_Male> for lack of a <Speech_Male> better word fanatic. <Speech_Male> Not defense. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> I think <Speech_Male> they fit their towns. <Speech_Male> And Machado <Speech_Male> was there for what has <Speech_Male> he got another, I don't know, <Speech_Male> he's got another <Speech_Male> year. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> He's there for a while. <Speech_Male> Yeah, Harper <Speech_Male> insisted on <Speech_Male> not doing the opt out. <Speech_Music_Male> I don't know <Speech_Music_Male> if he regrets it or <Speech_Male> not. He <Speech_Male> could have made himself some <Speech_Male> more money, but <Speech_Male> iron out I talked <Speech_Male> to him about that. <Speech_Male> He didn't take <Speech_Male> his opt out. He <Speech_Male> said with all that <Speech_Music_Male> was gone through to <Speech_Music_Male> get him out of <Speech_Music_Male> Colorado and get <Speech_Male> him the same ones where he <Speech_Male> wanted to go. He <Speech_Male> hasn't up <SpeakerChange> running, <Speech_Male> so I <Speech_Male> got it. I got <Speech_Music_Male> it, but you know, <Speech_Male> ultimately, <Speech_Male> I think it's a good <Speech_Male> business decision <Speech_Male> from a child. <Speech_Male> He gets to <Speech_Male> stay, obviously, <Speech_Male> the negotiation, <Speech_Male> but <Speech_Male> he gets to stay <Speech_Male> a long time and <Speech_Male> gets even more money. <Speech_Male> I hope he <Speech_Male> does good things with it. It's <Speech_Male> a lot of money. <Speech_Male> It's a <Speech_Male> lot of money. Anybody, <Speech_Male> he is one of <Speech_Male> the ten best players in the <Speech_Male> world. "Move into some actual major league stuff. Bryce Harper has made his appearance in clear water and it sounds like there's rumors that he may be back a little bit earlier than his expected. Yeah, I mean, they're just saying first half and you know, he's a quick healer at the Tommy John surgery. He's swinging. You know, I'm hearing rumors of potentially made. They don't want to put in a dead they don't want to put a date on it yet. We shall see, but I mean, we're going to talk about a guy who's going to DH, which I mean, the guy's a good outfielder, but that's 90% of his value probably is hitting. And what he brings to Debbie you saw that in the postseason. That was the perfect guy for them. You know, they debated Machado and Harper and I get that debate there comparable and great players two of the ten best players in the world. But for that city, the way they were sports crazy to get a guy like that. You know, I think he was hesitant and originally because you know he was on man member of the Nats and you know he had to go to a competitor and, you know, Philly is not a lovely San Diego. I know Drake Turner preferred silly to San Diego he's probably the one guy in the world, but Harper was a little hesitant at first, but he's the perfect guy because he's into it with a fans and all that. You know, Machado is a great guy, but he's a little cooler, you know? He's not going to revel with the fans and really get to be a Philly guy. So I mean, I think it's really ended up getting the right guy. I know there were people that front office who looked at the war and said Machado is the better all around player and I get that, but he was the guy for that team and he gives them an edge and with that lineup with Turner who again turned down San Diego, I have to keep saying that because I can't believe you turned down San Diego and go to Philadelphia. I like Philadelphia, but snow San Diego. I mean, they've got that lineup with schwarzer Turner Castellanos to be it's like he can real Muto. You know, I mean, it's not the Team USA lineup, but it's pretty darn good and they're a real threat. You know, everybody's saying braves are mets. The Phillies were pretty darn good once they changed managers once Harper came back. And now they've added in Taiwan walker, kimbrell, they're a really

"Again, just a kid from union New Jersey. And for Dan Patrick he's trying to make it. So please, we appreciate it. And if you leave a review, you qualify for a bribery ball. We have Fox Sports radio cavina in which footballs. We're going to talk about players that you hate it, now you're forced to like. There's a few stories in the world of sports. It's kind of hard. Is it a progression? Do you just make the decision because they're wearing your Jersey now? They represent your city. Is it that easy? How does it work for you? When a guy you typically hated is now on your team, what do you do? Because there's a story, there's a couple. There's a couple factors at play here. The NBA, a lot of moves, a lot of moves. And with Russell Westbrook, remember Aaron Rodgers woke up and he's like, wait a minute, where's Westbrook? Wait, what happened? Aaron, he's still in LA. Wait, what? I thought they got rid of him. No, on the clippers. They're still gonna suck. I know you were in a four day slumber. Russell Westbrook is now a clipper, right? Ben maller, monse Bologna, who does the updates. I know a lot of clippers fans here at Fox Sports radio are probably fighting themselves like, wait a minute, I just spent the last months of my life making fun of the Lakers and Russell Westbrook. Wait, and now he's on my team? Now I got a route for this guy. How do you spin and twist that? I'm not sure Ben maller had Westbrook in his ingredients for the Baba gauge. For the clippers bob I can use. I don't think so. He had Juicy Lucy. No Russell Westbrook. And Patrick Beverly, polarizing character, right? Anytime someone's polarizing, it is always that feeling of, I don't know if I could root for this guy. It's either the guy's flashy, he's outspoken, he's polarizing, or he's just really good and he destroys your team. That's why you hate a player. Right? I hate this guy's a blowhard. He's a cry, baby. All right, why did Matt fans hate Chipper Jones back in the day? 'cause he met. He owned them so much, he named his son, Shay. So yeah, so it's like, exactly. That's so great. That's like a mets fan. Now having to root for Chipper Jones. Patrick Beverly now finds himself as a Chicago bull. But he's trying to win over the fans because you know what he said? He said that his goal is to not only make the playoffs, but to knock the Lakers out because they play a few times down the street. Right, right. But now both fans are like, well, I like that. He's trying to win us over, but I hate it, Patrick Beverly. But when he's on your team. But when he's on your team, we name these guys yesterday on our show, but to reiterate, guys like Richard Sherman. I remember in the 90s as a niners fan, Deion Sanders hate him. Then he came to the niners for that championship run in 94 95. All of a sudden, I was like, prime time, baby. So you love a guy when he wins for you, but those same type of people, and they're not on your team. God, they're not likeable. Again, hated players that now you're forced to love, you end up loving, who comes to mind, how does it work for you? Does it take a minute? It's interesting. They have to win. It's interesting with pat bev because Chicago is on the outside looking in. Just outside of playoff reach as we speak. Same with the Lakers. So he left the team at the bubble. I don't know if you knew that. Yeah. He's on the outside. Outside. He's looking in. He's looking in. So, pat bev. What other guys come to mind? We were talking about Russell Westbrook. Guys that, again, it's always going to be outspoken, flashy guys, or again, a guy who owned your team. For sure, as a guy, like, I hate it, this guy. TO. Now I got a root for this guy. Tio ran to the 50 yard line and disrespected the Dallas Cowboys star. Like he was Rick James on a couch. F y'all couch. No. He put the ball down. The ultimate. And then he ends up playing for the cowboys and cowboy fans like, yeah, are we good? We're it's okay. Take a minute. And the only way to really make it work is to win, right? Yeah, winning tears off. Walk the talk. And then all of a sudden, everybody's on board and they're supporting you, even though they hated you. But it does take a minute. It takes some campaigning too. We often reference Bryce Harper when we talk about stuff like this. There's some campaigning involved in winning over the new fans. Bryce Harper was a genius. Yeah. Shout out to the late great. And by the way, papa, the genius. The shout out to Lenny pavlos, right, rest in peace. Why would anyone hate Bryce arbor? Because he's good, because he's arrogant. He plays with a sense. Or he looks a little out of the hair. It's the hair. He's handsome. He's got the beard. Could stubble. That's his guy. Good beard, yeah. Right? So he has to campaign and win over new fans. So when he went to Philadelphia, keep in mind, time flies. He's been on the Phillies for a minute now. He was on the Washington nationals. And when he was there, I'll tell you who hated him. Mets fans, Phillies fans, Marlins fans. I don't know if they exist, but Marlins fans. And everyone else in that division. Braves fans, because he dominated when he went to the Phillies as a free agent. You know what he did? He started taking pictures, hugging the Philly fanatic. He was wearing Philly phanatic socks. He was talking about how he loves the city of brotherly love and he's going to earn their love and he's eating cheesesteaks and yo, he dove headfirst in. He really did. Like when you think back and when you witnessed what he did, yeah, that was really smart because he won everybody over. Everybody hated on them. Everybody hated his pompadour and all this guy with the hair and the beard. Remember in his early days he would pull it down and he was some sort of warrior. Some sort of ultimate baseball warrior and he did a great job winning them over. We ask you Fox Sports radio nation. How do you do it and who comes to mind? Players you hated, why'd you hate them? And now you're forced to love them. I always hated in my number one answer. Again, I got number one answer on the board. Survey says, okay, Steve Harvey. For me, for me. Number one answer for me. I always hated guys. Like Paul O'Neill. He's my number one go to when I think of stuff like this. You know why? Because he was like a cry baby kind of guy. And he had like a Ronald McDonald Afro. And I'm like, this guy sucks. I hate Paul O'Neill. He's a cry, baby. Look at him crying. Set the Ronald McDonald. He went to the barber asked for the Ronald McDonald. Same like when Howie long goes to the barber and he goes, can I get the whole colgan? Yeah, not how a Terry Bradshaw. How he long just says military, please. No, how are you long asked for the Brian bosworth? Or did Brian bosworth as for the Howie long? No, but Paul O'Neill, he had a Ben savage haircut. I think Jimmy Johnson just wears a helmet. I don't think that's, I think it's a helmet. It's a hair helmet. Like those little people, like the little toys. It's a hair helmet. Pole O'Neal, why is he polarizing? I don't know. His crybaby attitude, the way he'd come back and beat up on a Gatorade cooler. He smashed a water cooler. He's swinging a bat, crying and fountain. Then when he came to the Yankees and he brought that fire and fury and that winning attitude and those expectations to the Yankees. And I saw him win and produce. And watched him every day. I'm like, man, the guy who I hate it and I thought it was a big cry, baby. I love this guy. I love this guy. Let me just say that as a true Detroit fan. We don't have that problem.

"And when you top one I have a bunker, you're going to get angry. That was the club. That was the club throw of a guy who's been getting close for free for a very long time. It was aggressive. It was, but it also shows that that's in all of these guys. Like max's the most easygoing, you know, relatable, whatever words you want to use. They've all got that in them. And it's not a negative. It's clearly a positive because it's what it takes to get to the top of an incredibly difficult sport. I remember kids had one of those club throws. When we were filming a video with him, he was just trying to play well against us. I don't even know if the cameras caught it, but I remember it happening. And I was like, kiss is like, kids is how people view max where it's like super chill. Like, you know, I'll put the earpiece in and I'll play Tory pines. Like, but you peel back enough layers. Those motherfuckers are very serious and they're very passionate. And again, I do think that's what it takes to get to that level. You can be the guy who throws an a lipper and drinks when you're playing with your buddies and the videos are hilarious, but at a certain point, those guys are fucking murderers and killers. And you have to be that way. It was aggressive. It was a very aggressive club throw. I loved it. I loved every second of it. And yeah, I hope we see more of that kind of stuff. It's fucking it's real, it's raw, it happens. Part of the deal. Shout out to Josh is, I don't know if you were already going to do that, but Saturday. The setup with Josh Isner's the guy that we obviously talk about a lot. I locked him out of his house. I locked myself out of his house at pebble beach, and he won't let me live that down every time I see him, but that Saturday at the waist management man, holy shit, that axon center. And now I know why lurks has like 5 different jobs and one of them's axon. I mean, they're set up at the Waste Management open is out of control. You're talking like Bryce Harper and Juan Soto were sitting behind us. They were like, how did you guys get in there? We're like, we're fucking axon people. That's how we got in. We're looking at them being like, we were first robe on 16.

"Bloomberg business of sports show where we explore the big money issues in the world of sports I'm Michael Barr And I'm Mike lynch and let's continue our conversation on the MLB lockout and look at the legal side of the situation rejoined by Martin edel He is the chair of gulston and stores sports law practice and an adjunct instructor at Columbia law school Martin thank you so much for joining us Thank you for the opportunity of speaking with both of you Martin why would baseball order the teams to take down images of players during this Lockhart for instance Bryce Harper was the MVP of the national league as a big banner at Citizens Bank ballpark and they were ordered to take it down Basically eliminating all name image and likeness with ownership gain an advantage by keeping his image up on the ballpark To me that can cut both ways Mike By taking down the image they're preventing Bryce Harper from realizing any licensing fees or other types of revenues he may gain from promoting his name image or likeness But it also affects the team which is trying to do that and ostensibly has a deal with Bryce Harper to license his name image and likeness What I don't understand is the whole hang up about sponsorships I don't understand how that can be infected and how that is shut down So that's another great question Professional athletes have a limited life in the sand that they play They can excel for a period of time but eventually age creeps up And they're no longer as viable as stars or viable as professional athletes So they seek to monetize their right as early as they can for as much as they can And by telling sponsors hey we're not going to permit the licensing to go forward You're taking a deep cut into a player's ability to monetize his name image and likeness With the result that they're trying it's an economic tool to try to force the players to come back to the bargaining table on term favorable to the owners Martin the free agency I think is probably the number one sticking point here the 6 years or 5 should there be a work stoppage is there always a concession that time lost can be credited to a player for instance if he's hit 5 and a half years in and they don't start playing until August of next year That's going to be a subject of intense bargaining whether or not they should credit the player back You remember back to 2015 with Chris Bryant And of course the cubs did not let Bryant go to the major lease I think it was until the second month of the season and therefore they didn't under the existing rules The cubs did not have to credit Bryant with that particular year as being accredited towards the free agency time period Brian arbitrated that issue was lost So instead of being a 6 year term it became a 7 year term for Bryant And here too if the work stoppage well the lockout continues into the year and then there's no time made up and that's not the subject of bargaining that comes out favorable to the players The players may lose some players who would otherwise be eligible for the full year credit towards free agency may find that they're not getting that credit Baseball commissioner rob Manfred said that he believes that an off season lockouts the best mechanism to protect the 2022 season and they hope that the lockout will jump start the negotiations Do you agree with that Martin No A lockout is a very serious economic tactic It's perfectly permissible under the national labor relations act Just like a strike is perfectly permissible under the national labor relations act But you look at what happened they had a 7 minute session That didn't bode well for future discussions And the question really becomes how interested is each party in coming back to the table and on what terms Yeah I was supposed to be 9 hours and wound up being just 7 minutes Right Right So as you probably know pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report around February 15 and exhibition games are scheduled to commence February 26 Given the holiday schedule that's really just around the corner Will the party's come back to bargain in earnest Will they be able to complete what are going to be complex negotiations before that time is really up in the air Yes there is an advantage to starting during the off season That's probably one of the reasons that the collective bargaining agreement expired during the off season But there's no guarantee that they'll be able to complete these complex negotiations in two and a half months with all the holidays in play Martin the commissioner said on Thursday that in 1994 baseball made a mistake by starting the season without a collective bargaining agreement and he said we will not make that mistake again Does that sound like something that is very inflexible to you Yes There are other leagues which start the season when they think they've made sufficient progress on a new collective bargaining agreement that they think they're going to bring it across the finish line Taking a hard line position saying we're not going to reopen our doors And get rid of the lockout until we have a sign collective bargaining agreement sounds inflexible and I think is designed to send a very strong message to the players union that you better become more flexible on your demands What's different to me when you talk about the four major food groups in sports baseball football basketball hockey especially in the NBA Adam silver has what appears to be a great relationship with the union and the players on the other side of the coin rob Manfred has let's call it maybe a strained relationship with the union And I'll put it that way Is that a fair assessment and what can both sides do here to try to change that So from everything I've read in the press yes I think that's very fair assessment And remember that rob Manfred's background is that he came to Major League Baseball and he was a principal negotiator of prior collective bargaining agreements for Major League Baseball As commissioner now he represents 30 owners And he has to take into account not only what is in the best interest of the sport but also what the 30 owners want Historically that's to be protected somewhat from their own greed hence let's keep that fine mechanisms to reduce player salaries and player compensation because otherwise we're going to be bidding against each other in an endless war We so just before the lockout went to effect Corey Seager signed a contract with the rangers for $325 million over ten years That's a lot of money And left to their own devices owners might continue to bid up salaries Martin is chair of goldston and stores sports law practice looking through your lens here Where do you see the imbalance between both sides I think this really comes down to two issues One being the owners desire to avoid paying players tremendous amounts once they're past their prime as the owners would think And the players desire to make sure there's a path for younger players to get more of the pie and older players to receive their due even if their skills are somewhat somewhat So diminished over where they've been So how does that work Luxury tax If you have a luxury tax or a team three years running at team exceeds the luxury tax of $210 million it's going to be hit with penalties How is it going to it's going to want the flexibility to reduce payroll there In a means that preserves the competitiveness of the team while it eliminates the sanctions or penalties that exist That may hurt veterans more than younger players By contrast teams may decide that they also don't want veterans and are willing This is the tanking issue They may want to bring up newer players from the minor.

and lost So instead of being a 6 year term it became a 7 year term for Bryant And here too if the work stoppage well the lockout continues into the year and then there's no time made up and that's not the subject of bargaining that comes out favorable to the players The players may lose some players who would otherwise be eligible for the full year credit towards free agency may find that they're not getting that credit Baseball commissioner rob Manfred said that he believes that an off season lockouts the best mechanism to protect the 2022 season and they hope that the lockout will jump start the negotiations Do you agree with that Martin No A lockout is a very serious economic tactic It's perfectly permissible under the national labor relations act Just like a strike is perfectly permissible under the national labor relations act But you look at what happened they had a 7 minute session That didn't bode well for future discussions And the question really becomes how interested is each party in coming back to the table and on what terms Yeah I was supposed to be 9 hours and it wound up being just 7 minutes Right right So as you probably know pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report around February 15 and exhibition games are scheduled to commence February 26 Given the holiday schedule that's really just around the corner Will the party's comeback to bargain in earnest Will they be able to complete what are going to be complex negotiations before that time is really up in the air Yes there is an advantage to starting during the off season That's probably one of the reasons that the collective bargaining agreement expired during the off season But there's no guarantee that they'll be able to complete these complex negotiations in two and a half months with all the holidays in play Martin the commissioner said on Thursday that in 1994 baseball made a mistake by starting the season without a collective bargaining agreement and he said we will not make that mistake again Does that sound like something that is very inflexible to you Yes There are other leagues which start the season when they think they've made sufficient progress on a new collective bargaining agreement that they think they're going to bring it across the finish line Taking a hard line position saying we're not going to reopen our doors And get rid of the lockout until we have a sign collective bargaining agreement sounds inflexible and I think is designed to send a very strong message to the players union that you better become more flexible on your demands What's different to me when you talk about the four major food groups in sports baseball football basketball hockey especially in the NBA Adam silver has what appears to be a great relationship with the union and the players on the other side of the coin rob Manfred has let's call it maybe a strain relationship with the union And I'll put it that way Is that a fair assessment and what can both sides do here to try to change that So from everything I've read in the press yes I think that's very fair assessment And remember that rob Manfred's background is that he came to Major League Baseball and he was a principal negotiator of prior collective bargaining agreements for Major League Baseball As commissioner now he represents 30 owners And he has to take into account not only what is in the best interest.

"Sports show where we explore the big money issues in the world of sports I'm Michael Barnes And I'm Mike lynch And let's continue our conversation on the MLB lockout and look at the legal side of the situation but joined by Martin edel he is the chair of gules and stores sports law practice and an adjunct instructor at Columbia law school Martin thank you so much for joining us Thank you for the opportunity of speaking with both of you Martin why would baseball order the teams to take down images of players during this lockup For instance Bryce Harper was the MVP of the national league as a big banner at Citizens Bank ballpark and they were ordered to take it down Basically eliminating all name image and likeness with ownership gain an advantage by keeping his image up on the ballpark To me that can cut both ways Mike By taking down the image they're preventing Bryce Harper from realizing any licensing fees or other types of revenues he may gain from promoting his name image or likeness But it also affects the team which is trying to do that and ostensibly has a deal with Bryce harbor to license his name image and likeness What I don't understand is the whole hang up about sponsorships What I don't understand how that can be infected and how that is shut down So that's another great question Professional athletes have a limited life in the sand that they play that you can excel for a period of time but eventually age creeps up And they're no longer as viable as stars or viable as professional athletes So they seek to monetize their right as early as they can for as much as they can And by telling sponsors hey we're not going to permit the licensing to go forward You're taking a deep cut into a player's ability to monetize his name image and likeness With the result that they're trying it's an economic tool to try to force the players to come back to the bargaining table on terms favorable to the owners Martin the free agency I think is probably the number one sticking point here The 6 years or 5 should there be a work stoppage is there always a concession that time loss can be credited to a player for instance if he's hit 5 and a half years in and they don't start playing until August of next year That's going to be a subject of intense bargaining whether or not they should credit the player back You will remember back to 2015 with Chris Bryant And Six ten. Maybe deep on that one. I mean they finish guiseley finished with the losing record. Read seventy nine and eighty three. They couldn't even finish with a winning record. They couldn't even go eighty two and eighty and they bet they they. This team truly bet the farm on the season they turn away whatever. Prospects they had they day spent they. They did everything and they. They got fleas by the tampa bay. Rays for blake. Snell but the racing to be doing that to everybody. I would never trade with the raise. Yes the numbers are five. The numbers are always kind of find. That's why you get sucked into giving that big contract you only contract. I think recently that was pure sucker deal when you should have not done whatsoever on the big merit. Numbers was anthea random but that was because the moments everything happened nationals but even bryce harper this year too with the phillies and that first year was bad. But now we're kind of seeing a little bit but that is inside track right and bryce harper this year especially when the phillies were trying and make their push the division title. He was hitting. He was hitting at the right moments. He was hitting at the clutch moments. I can't say that. I i myself cannot say that. That totti's junior. Did anything of true consequence to help the padres out of their spiral in september. And that's what i hate about. Mvp voting because they look at it with the whole..

"The padre certainly not easy for the cardinals and And maybe just maybe it's the phillies who knows or cincinnati. So it's it's it's still a situation where the cardinals can control their destiny. Which makes it fun. Yeah i'm out on the mets that. They've been a chaotic team. I don't think there's they're just always in their own way. I'm with you. it's the reds to me. it's the reds and the phillies and bryce harper is making an mvp. Search here And i i'll remind myself that. I was reminded everyone that i was. I was mr bryce harper nearing his free agency. Not hurtful out of folks thought that contract was bad and he's overrated and well look what he's doing right now in philadelphia and that's the kind of player he's been. I don't feel like he's ironically for guy that we spend a lot of time talking about in baseball. Bryce harper kind. Kinda feel like his is push here in the second half. maybe hasn't gotten enough attention Kind of weirdly but if they get in certainly will and he's he's playing as well as anybody in the game right now. So i'm with you. I'm i'm afraid of the phillies from the cardinals. And i'm still a little a little wary of the reds now. The cardinals had their their number in that series. But you saw in that last game of the doubleheader that tower that offense that can come alive at anytime so those are the two teams. they both wear red. That i'm most concerned about the phillies and cincinnati. But the cardinal's can as as we said you know make their own way. That's all you can ask for it this time of the year when the cardinals had as as frustrating of a season as they've had to be in september with your destiny in your own hands. It's not a bad spot to be in They just gotta find a way to continue to do what they did. In cincinnati. you know. Get more wins than losses against the best teams and then you've got some padding that comes in late with what are what a glorified aaa team in the cubs. So can they do it. I i don't. I don't have a lot of faith in them. I'll be honest but They certainly can prove me wrong. And a lot of other people if they find a way to make a push here if they get to a one game wild card. I think that you put you put adam wainwright on the mound and you like your chances in that game and then it will get back to. Can they find a way to beat good teams in the series but we're gonna get pretty good litmus test on a lot of those teams that could be facing here the rest of this month. Colton wong Interesting article i think. It was in the athletic. But he talked about Basically being different leadoff guy in milwaukee as opposed to what they wanted him to do in saint louis..

You know what you're going up against you know what the deal is. You know that you know that you have some guys coming back and they're gonna fortify the lineup at some point so it really does feel good and i hope the same kind of the same idea or philosophy can fix the bullpen. Because dude this this crew is just tough like last night you get you get a bunch of you get a you get a triple a. Lineup giving you a giving you a to three or sixty two liter. Five to lead. Whatever it was at that time. In britain three straight hits gives up running gets that double play. I mean am. Think about if LeBron would have went ended up going to the N C double A or any kind of school within the N C. Double, a structured to finally make some money off that name, image and likeness. He had Nike and Adidas throwing around $100 million contract when he was a high school junior. He had guys wearing ST Mary ST grown men wearing high school dirty is walking around in the early two thousands if he would have ended up signing or going to any kind of team and In collegiate sport. He would have easily topped that list. Yeah. Yeah. LeBron could have been paid when he was 16 or 17. He may have been paid when he was 16 or 17. He's on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Um, you know, Bryce Harper was on the cover of Sports Illustrated. As what a 16 year old. I think he was in high school. Yeah, Club. We're having debate here. Someone mentioned Arch Manning and Brownie. James has six million instagram followers to do those guys avoid big deals because they don't need the money. I know arches. Cooper's son right, like, But are they going to be cautious? Because, like, what does Brawny need the deal for? Yeah, but I don't know what LeBron would say. He might say. Hey, you should be able to take advantage of that. Not Hey, I've I've made a billion dollars in my career. Um And plus, you know, these high school players are probably not going to be going to college. A lot of them. I don't know how good LeBron son is. I've watched highlights, but I don't. I don't know if he's He might be able to capitalize or should capitalize. Now, who knows? If he's going to be an NBA player? We assume he is, but I couldn't I couldn't tell you that watching his highlights. Now I can tell you when I watched Lamelo ball Even as a freshman in high school, I thought he had more talent than his other brothers did. You know, so And he was just a freshman, and he looked like he was a puppy out there just running around crazy, but but he did have and he's the first to really capitalize on name, image and likeness. When you think about it, at least one of the one of the early ones because he went overseas. And he had, you know, a couple of million followers. When he came to the United States. He didn't play college ball, obviously, but he had played overseas. He was famous from, you know his father and his brother, and he capitalized on that great marketing. Right. More phone calls coming up. Two hours in the books. One more to go. We're gonna stay with that poll question. Final hour, McLovin. No, we've got some more options. Oh, all right. I like that. "So I have a question. What's your opinion on Bryce Harper and the style he place and like, why he's always hurt. Um well, thank you, Luke. Um, probably with the style that he plays is why he's always hurt. You know that fascination with Bryce Harper? It didn't go to another level. He got that new contract when he left the nationals, but I don't I don't know if he's must see TV the way he was with the nationals, because if it felt like there was something like you got to watch this guy, remember, I'd get into arguments discussions, I should say. You know what you think My child is better than Bryce Harper and I go. Yes. Yeah, But you know, Bryce has got charisma. I said okay, and he's got style and I go, okay. If that's what you want on your team, then Bryce Harper's for you, but I'll take my trout. And you know, he signs that contract And while I look at that contract in the moment, I went well, That's a lot of money for Bryce Harper and long period of time. He's 28. And that contract may turn out to be team friendly. We may look at that and go all they got him for that. I mean, my trout. I think the angels are on the book for $430 million. Okay, right. And I guess he earns every bit of it. I mean, he's top five m v p. But like how do you earn $430 Million by just putting up good numbers. Shohei Otani. Is going to whatever he gets. After next year. He's a free agent. What's Shohei Otani going to be worth? Because that is a Let's go out and see him. Let's go out to batting practice and watch. Let's Hey, he's pitching to. Hey, he's not pitching. He's only hitting tonight. How many guys are like that tattoo pieces like that? Thank you. They have 57. No. Can you put Vlad Guerrero in there? You know? A kuna like I don't I don't know there. There aren't that many players that you go. I'm going to tune in to watch that guy. Yeah. Pong Bryce Harper is Phillies contractors Bryce Harper friendly. He hasn't made an all Star team since he joined the Phillies. I know he's injured, but he wasn't injured his first year with the Phillies when he hit 2 60. Um he hasn't been a top five m v p candidate since 2015. He was 22 years old, then he is a average and we play there again. I know there's a lot of health concerns, but now he's well above an average that will be played. In what way. Dude, they'd be. They'd be 14 games above first place if they did have the worst bullpen in the history of the sport hits 2 71, and he's got 10 home runs this year. He hurt his back, but he's been his war is pretty high. He had to 68 with 13 home runs last year. He's a he doesn't hit for average he hits for decent power. I don't know. I mean, unless there's something missing, make love, and you have to admit that there's a lot more style than substance. With Bryce Harper the past few years there, there's always It's style. You know that hair and the whole thing. Oh, yeah, but you know that mean with the dog and the fire. That's Bryce Harper on the fillings. Right now. They're They're having huge meltdown like they want to fire the manager. He hasn't had a guy on base in about four months. They have a lot of problems. Bryce Harper is never consider one of them. He chose to go there. Yeah, No, I know, but they just they have these weird things going on, like cut out of control. The whole team is I'm telling you, it's like a state of fire right there. And Mike Harper is only one of many. Well, why is it that the Angels aren't very good consistently, But Mike Trout is really good consistently. Well, yeah. I mean, he's a better player. Of course. I mean, there's no doubt about it now. Okay, but this was this used to be a discussion here. Yeah. Bryce Harper has more style than substance. There that came was right to Bryce Harper. You can't stay healthy. There's something going on there. But nobody says healthy trouts out for six months. Yeah, I know. Probably still finished in the top five. Second everything Shohei Otani, by the way that being as good as white trout, that's that's not the worst statement. That's pretty good. I know. But people get caught up in how you do it, not not exactly what you're doing, but how you're doing it like man. That guy's exciting. Yes, there are guys who are exciting, but that doesn't mean they're better than guys who aren't as exciting. Shohei Otani to me is exciting because that those home runs sound different. The fact that he's pitching, you're seeing somebody that size that speed. I mean, we think Mike Trout is, you know An anomaly here. It's like he's a unicorn. Shohei Otani is the unicorn. I can tell you why they are both exciting, but I'm going to tell you after the Wow, that's a tease. And we got a limerick coming up. That's a lot of stuff that God has got a Limerick based off last night's Clippers Suns game Is there enough time to get over? I don't know if I'm going to be able to have the time to get everything in, but I'm going to try. I'm gonna try to take a break. But he's not committed to you and you should have been committed to care about last year's draft. Okay? Yeah, you know, like you should have been committed to Aaron Rodgers in last year's draft. Using the word committed Aaron Rodgers. We're talking about Danica Patrick. I think this is an overall play. This is gonna wind up. He's going to take the jeopardy job and marry Danica Patrick on the show. I mean, listen, I think Let's just say, I think his decision currently is better than the Danica decision. I'm not sure anyone says it that way. But okay, Okay, well, I'm from the north. So you gotta be a little road. You're correct. It is spelled goulash is I just don't hear that reference often. Um But no, I'm very unverifiable ad. I didn't have to go to the track. Although I am a little bit bummed when I heard J say that it was gonna be like 76 on Derby Day. And great stories again. That's all fun. Yeah. Aaron Rodgers is gonna be there. Yeah, he brings the drama too. Are going to look as long as we're on sports with Aaron Rodgers. Let's jump to this Bryce Harper thing he got hit in the face with a 97 mile an hour pitch. It's unbelievable that what the human body can withstand, That's all. I'll say He wore that one pretty well. Yeah, he really Whoa. Oh, no little boy. It looks like it initially, maybe hit his wrist or his arm and then bounced up.

"Everything that happens here. Go run put they go ask katie gala. Hey here higgin gallos. What do you think about that lineup. Over at the fan holy smokes. Okay well today. We'll see if he could gala is in the lineup or not jordan. Montgomery makes the start taking on four. Hey lopez will have the game on the fan coverage at twelve twenty five Later on today as for the mets they wound up losing to the red sox one nothing they had a grand total of count them one to two hits to lousy hits in nine innings of baseball and fifteen strikeouts James mccann was asked if the pause they had an. They're weird schedule with. The weather has had something to do with their atrocious offense. Really there's no excuse the layoff that we had after spring training is kind of just been a running thing of where we've gotten we've missed games. We've had rain outs Guys are trying to get a feel I mean you can name a bunch of things but the end of the day. There's no excuse. Well it's a good standup answer. And jacob degrom as you said he would both the guys when asked about no run support and not winning and only given up a few hits he says boy can give up that run there in the second to make Make pitches when. I needed to You know left of all over the middle bogart's hit the double in just wasn't able to execute on those next few batters to get us out of that has been forbidden. Gives one lousy running. Gets the loss and he did. He had nine strikeouts in six innings. And nothing we'd takes the l. mets philadelphia tomorrow night last night. The phillies beat the cardinals. Five to three. The sixth inning was definitely the story. Play this for you earlier. It's the sound off. Nbc sports phillies. Bryce harper the first batter in the six facing genesis. Cabrera i offering by cabrera renta face. It deflected into his face. Yeah and what was crazy was. After harper came out pinch runner he was actually okay. Believe it or not. The very next batter was one. Gis steve gregorious was up. Next is now didi. Goes down yeah. That's john crux. And all man. joe girardi came out. He got himself jackson and rightly so his reaction after the game right. If you're really protecting the players obviously he doesn't have he's got to go the third pitchy through and i'm not making this up so you got first and second nobody out. Andrew mccutchen is up. He throws the ball into the dirt like five feet before plate. The fourth page a ball in the dirt that mccutchen actually swung and missed on and then the fifth pitch was a rbi single the left. And at that point he was allowed because The rebound rule right mccarthy makes the point after he d doesn't he got to come get them and get them out of the game. Can't crux like no. He's got a face a third batter so as soon as the ball hit the bat he was out. So here you go. Here's a collateral of that new. You're absolutely nobody thought of this. Nobody nobody nobody their wildest dreams could have thought of this and this doesn't happen very often. Maybe once out of a thousand times this happens. I don't know of anything will if you think about it. What was was it stanton. Is the last player that got hit square in the face. By a fastball. So independent the next pitch would hit a guy. I don't think that's ever happened. Well uh teams thrown at each other and then is happening but it's different the case here. This kid was just wild yes he was all and you could tell by his reaction that he had no control right and maybe the empire has to step in and say okay. Come on get outta here. Let's go. it's let's joe geordies point. Yeah maybe joe made a very good point there. I if i if i were my guys be ticked off to no question especially that you know harper gets hit right in the face and it wasn't as tom mccarthy said it wasn't deflected his face he caught the ball face yes it basically smashed his nose into a skull and somehow he was already an instagram thing. If you were hockey player he would have come back in the game in baseball. Allow the guy out of the game on the doors hockey. You put right back in the game after he goes back and get the stitches.
