"All right, thanks for doing this. Thank you. Bleacher tweets, already buster bleacher tweets for a Friday. A couple things to clear off the top here. Some rant related things. Let's go, let's go to you because you ran it about people saying they don't like the mic'd up interviews during games. You were vindicated when Patrick wisdom came on here today, said he enjoyed doing them. And then Jessie Bates all at context collapse rights and due to the recent rant in defense of Mike players. I'm forced to join the chorus of fans who despise in game quote unquote interviews, aka listened to the players grunt and hearing Mike's fail and as the single greatest factor destroying the game today, buster, that's a hot take from Jesse. I don't think he was. Well, and I can't tell. I mean, that sentence right there is a single greatest factor to destroying the game today. Looking for the evidence, the game is being destroyed. It's an $11 billion industry, ratings are up. Attendance seems to be up early on. I'm kind of I'm looking for the evidence that the game is being destroyed, Taylor. Jesse, can you present some? You know, maybe Mookie betts, Mike will go out and Jessie will be vindicated. Oh my gosh. As I said to Patrick about, you know, players with. God help us if Mookie betts makes a mistake on the field while he's talking on the microphone. That's all I'm going to say. We'll be collectively crossing our fingers. What did you think about Ali marl's quote unquote, rant? I'll say, he was very, he's kind of a soft spoken guy, so I feel like he could have taken the energy up a couple more notches to sell it because his team's not a bad way. He's pretty intense. I will tell you that. Oh, yeah. It was interesting to read the stories because of the understated nature of that you cited. It's not like you screaming at reporters the other day, but it certainly got a ton of attention in St. Louis and people understood. This was Ali trying to make a stand. Back his players to let everybody know, I think it was Derek gold, my good friend, it covers the cardinals who essentially wrote like you could feel that he was looking for an opportunity to say something like that. Maybe to fire up his own players. If that's the case, man, they're going to need a lot more than, you know, a manager rant in a press conference setting. Yeah, and we've talked about this before. You mentioned with Ravi. The cardinals are so buttoned up. The fact that this the video of this is out there on the Internet, I kind of feel like that was purposeful almost. To just to make sure that the players didn't, they couldn't miss it and could see that he's serious. He means business here. One last thing before we get into more tweets here, buster, you've been we've buried the Orioles here. I mean, they are, they've won 7 straight series. They didn't look great against the royals that game yesterday was weird. They've got a really tough series against the brave this weekend. They've got the raise right after that. If I could extend any advice to people listening right now, dean Kramer against max fried tonight bet it all on the braves man team Cramer's been so bad. And I'm looking at it as you say this. I should say, as you're telling us this, okay? You're wearing an Orioles cap. Yup. So you understand your team, right? Yeah, that's I said it. Don't be afraid to bet against your team because you know him better than anyone else. Dean Kramer has not looked good. I mean, maybe one time this year, maybe like his second start, but he was really bad last time out. And then the oh, they're going against max farid Spencer strider and Bryce elder. Kyle Brady on Saturday, Tyler wells, who's been pretty good this year. I mean, it's gonna be tough. And then the race on Monday. So I don't know, you know, they had a good April, good start to May here, but from now on, I think it's just trying to keep things at 500. What do you think? Well, if they play 500 against these two teams, that's pretty good, because I think there's no question. Raise are the best team in baseball and the braves of the second best team in baseball. And I think and then there's a gap. You know? And then there's a gap in the Orioles are trying to be the team that's going to fill that three spot, especially with the Astros having dealt with these starting pitching injuries and the American League west being thrown into some chaos. All right. It was fun. Let's get back to the tweets here. Mark Stevens at writer Stevens writes, and hey buster, the chat with Bruce bochy on the rule change that protected catchers from dangerous slides was great. Think bean balls will ever get back in the forefront as a rule change consideration what will it take? No, I don't think that's going to change, you know, I've always often wondered if they were to ever invoke a rule that if you leave the dugout if you leave the bullpen you would face suspension that would end like the bean balls and the brawls in that whole thing. And here's the thing about bean balls. I think there are a lot of cases in which it's really hard to judge intent. And I would not want to, especially in this era where pictures are basically this generation pictures are training to throw the ball as hard as they possibly can and they're not focusing so much on command. I just don't think you can just suspend players without knowing exactly what's in their hearts and in most cases you don't know. Right. Does that make sense? Yeah, yeah. I think and they'll do it. Like if it's an obvious retaliation, I feel like we've seen suspensions am I wrong there? But

"The wait for it dot com hotline by Odyssey MLB insider John haman host of the Odyssey original big time baseball podcast with Tony Gwynn junior covering all things Major League Baseball and of course you can follow John on his personal Twitter page at John hayman John is always but he appreciate a few minutes here in Atlanta as the braves lost today, but man, they have been off to a fantastic start this year. Terrific terrific team, they've got good pitching. They've got great hitting, you know, obviously Swanson is a loss, but they haven't got the terrific all over if he was a great pickup. Obviously Riley and Acuna are big stars and they've got a very balanced and deep lineup. You know, John, I think with today's loss, they've started off ten and two on the road. And, you know, again, when you're a great road team, I mean, obviously the braids are going to play well at home, but what does it say about a team that plays really well on the road, like the braves have? Yeah, I mean, certainly it's easier at home if your tenant too. I mean, that's fantastic. It's an 8 33 winning percentage on the road. Really terrific. Look, they won the World Series two years ago last year. They won a 101 games in a very, very tough division. This is possibly the best team in baseball right now. If you're going to rank them, you do a power rankings, which I don't do. I would probably put them number one at this point, obviously the rays have been great, but I think with the resume that the braves have, I think, that they're probably the World Series favorite at this moment and John, the other interesting thing is obviously there's been a ton of injuries for the braise, whether it's Michael Harris, or Travis darnold, or obviously max fried is mistimed. Kyle Wright was banged up this year. And then you're dealing with Ian Anderson, who's out for the year and on and on and on and on. Is that one of the more remarkable things, though, that the braves have been this good playing this well with all of the guys that they've had injured this year? I mean it's pretty amazing. A lot of teams have that injuries. They are among them. I would say they're probably middle of back on the injuries. With sizzle life for them that they're able to be among the two or three best teams with middle of the pack situation on the injuries, freed obviously, big loss. Now he's come back. That's huge. I mean, Devin ace pitcher, another ace, pitcher, terrific. They really have done a terrific job of procuring talent, certainly of locking up talent better than anybody on that front. And you know, I mean, they have a young team and an outstanding future. You know, one of the things about developing their minor league talent, you know, they've gotten contributions from guys that were drafted in 2019, 2020, 2021 even. Strider and Bryce elder, a guy who were just drafted in 2020, you know, you don't normally see a lot of guys come up through the miners that quick into a major league club. What does that say about their scouting department, their player development? I mean, what does that speak to about how good the braves have done with that? Well, I mean, it got Dana Brown, the GM job of the afros. You know, he's the guy responsible for picking Harris and strider and all the most recent picks were his and you know, it makes sense that they would hire him. I just had him on another podcast and I do a post terrific gentleman and rate that he's finally got a chance to be general manager well deserved and I mean take probably 50 or more a hundred guys who made to the major leagues from the boba shift with a Toronto and Zimmerman's with Washington and Strasbourg and so many great players with Atlanta. I mean, drafting and developing is huge. The teams that do that well, the Dodgers, the braves, the Cardinals, are at a major major advantage. Odyssey MLB insider John hayman joining us here on the wait for dotcom hotline. Let's bounce around the league a little bit, John. What do you make of the Philly start this year? 8 and 11, they're actually fourth in the division. What does it bend that the Phillies have been so bad with so much expectation and obviously so much money that they spent in this off season? Yes, it's certainly surprising. I mean, it's early or 10% went through the season. So we don't want to overplay it, but they had a very good team last year that made the World Series certainly was much better once we're up Thompson took over as manager. I think there are a couple of factors. One is the injuries to Harper and Hoskins and Harper should be back probably in a couple of weeks or so. So that would be huge, but they have 200 RBI guys that lab is big. And then also playing deep into October. I think affects the pitching. Wheeler and Noah haven't been as good as you'd expect them to be. And that's really, I would say the hardest, it's part of the heart of the team. That lineup at full strength is one of the best two or three in the game, but having two pitchers who are aces is a rarity in baseball and should give them a leg up and so far it hasn't been a lot of surprises early though. I mean, the cardinals have been not been very good. Seattle deciders, the Padres. I mean, it is early. So I'm not, you know, I'm not giving up on that, but it has been a bit of a surprise that they started this bad. John, there's been some talk about with the Hoskins injury that they may move Bryce Harper to first base and let him play there versus playing in the outfield. Are you hearing the same things? I mean, what do you think about that? At college app student loans. We know paying for college can be stressful, but we don't think it needs to be that way. "Matters and went three for 5 with two doubles a home run and three RBIs as the braves beat the Cardinals 5 to two to complete a three game series sweep and improve their record to 5 and one. You want to come out and have the good start. Sometimes it doesn't always happen, but with the start we've had with this road trip I feel like we're in a good spot. "He looks to be primed. He's made a slight swing adjustment if you look at his stance, he no longer holds his bat out forward ahead of him before he gets started with this swing. It's now kind of tilted back, which seems minor, but it looks mighty fluid right now. And I think that with the Freddie Freeman saga behind him with the coming home to Atlanta, getting traded two weeks before three weeks before opening day, all of that behind him. It's a pretty clear path for him. I think to have a great season. I expect even bigger things out of Austin Riley because of what he has shown at times the last two years. Both of those guys could hit 40 homers, Ronald Acuna junior could hit 40 homers, Ozzy obvious was a 30 Homer hitter before his injury last year that kind of sapped him of his usefulness to the braves last year. I posted a tweet about a week ago. The braves got 28 home runs out of Eddie Rosario, Ronald Acuna junior, and Ozzie albies combined last year. That group could easily triple that number this season, and when you look at the braise, maybe not making the biggest splash offensively or signing a big free agent to replace dansby Swanson just by getting those guys back to normal. They may be seeing a big return and they may be seeing one of the best offensive lineups in baseball. I just look at it and there's a lot of reasons to be optimistic about it. You have to temper that with being realistic about injuries and attrition and things that do happen over the course of a season, but there's an awful lot of good hitters, all lined up, seemingly one through 8, at least in the braves lineup, and then Orlando arcia could come in and maybe surprise a few folks. So offensively speaking, I think to praise her in a really good spot. So let's transition to pitching. There are a couple arms who won't be around this year because of Tommy John surgeries. And Tyler. There are also some more nagging interests that some players are dealing with right now and maybe we can talk about those guys. So shoulder issues for rice el Iglesias and Kyle Wright and then you have some muscle strains for Colby allard and Michael, not Mike. Michael siroka. So what is the status of that Quartet when can the braves expect some of their injured arms back? Hopefully sooner than later in the case of all of those men. I don't really have much of an update on Colby allard, who was very excited to rejoin the braves organization, but I don't know if fans were really more excited for a comeback story more so than that of Michael sirocco. I think people were hoping to see it. The hamstring injury, he suffered it the day before he was driving down to report for pitchers and catchers and to get a spring training started. So that was obviously frustrating. I spoke with Michael a little bit when I was down to spring training and he just felt like, hey, this is the temporary setback. And as it happens, he has made his grapefruit league debut. They are going to option him or did option him to triple-A because he's going to need time to make four, 5, maybe more starts to both build his pitch count up, knock off some rust. You got a half a dozen minor league starts last year. I think that's a big part of his comeback as well. So maybe sometime before April's over, if you need him, Michael sirocco's gonna be ready, but for rice hill Iglesias for Kyle Wright, it should be much sooner than that. The braids are hoping right's only going to miss one regular season start. They're gonna open with them on the IL, that opened the door for Dylan Dodd to make the rotation out of spring training. That's been a great story down in northport and Jared Shuster, one of the braves first round picks from back in 2020, he won the fist bot in the rotation over Ian Anderson and over Bryce elder, so it's been a very interesting, I don't know, revolving door or series of musical chairs in the back two spots of the braves rotation, but right should be back soon. Iglesias, they said it was just a very mild or very minor inflammation. They just didn't want to push it too hard here in the first week. Give them the time to let that go down. And then I was looking at an article posted on fan grafts earlier on Monday. Brave seemed to have the number one bullpen in baseball at least by projections. Iglesias is a huge part of that. So they need him healthy and they don't want to push anything in April. You mentioned Dodd and Chester and I wanted to ask about them for brave students who are less familiar with their game. What can be expected from them because I think you're right they really did open eyes this spring. They did. And the biggest thing I think that they were doing that was not happening with specifically Ian Anderson and to a lesser extent Bryce elder was that they were attacking the strike zone. I mean, Jared Shuster and Dylan Dodd both. They worked quick. They threw strikes. They've got great stuff. I think for Schuster, it's a really good change up and then the fastball can play there in the mid to low 90s, at least for the majority of it. And I think he's got an effective breaking ball, so he's got the arsenal that you need. And first round picks, like we said, they're going to find their way to the majors, but I think this is a well earned opportunity for him. Dylan Dodd came a little bit as a surprise. I was on the backfields and Dylan Dodd was working on or working against major league hitters. And there was a group that included Ronald Acuna junior and as I was walking up and I was hearing some of the players leaving a couple of the braves minor league pitchers were like, yeah, they've got dot out there. He just struck out the side on like ten or 11 pitches or something like that. And Ronald Acuna junior was hit in that group. So if you're out there striking out some of the big league regulars, you're going to open some eyes. And then that's exactly what he did and grapefruit league play. He's had maybe a couple of hiccups, but not much to speak of. And again, the strike throwing mid 90s works quick and just exactly what the braves wanted to see out of him was coming and be competitive. They just didn't get that. I think Ian Anderson, who was still looking to make mechanical adjustments and to a lesser extent Bryce elder, I think he just kind of got pushed out because Don and Schuster were so impressive. And the braids are going to give opportunity. And I think that those are two guys that could really shine for them and pitch them important innings early in the year. And you're going to see Jared Schuster in the first series and you're going to see Dylan Dodd in the second series of the season. So the braves are really given these two kids the chance to step in and step up. So as you noted, the best projected bullpen in baseball, some holdovers here, but also some new additions. Joe Jimenez is here and Nick Anderson and Lucas lutke, et cetera so how do you expect this group to shape up, I guess, in Iglesias is absence and then hopefully when he returns. I think we see AJ mentor get the opportunity to close, but he was the praise best reliever last year, and part of I think what made him so good is you could employ him in the 7th inning and the 8th inning or the 8th inning or the 9th inning if you wanted to, but to braise did have guys closing so he didn't have to use AJ that way. And I think that's the role he'll return to once they get Iglesias back in and slotted a closer. Another name on top of those new additions that you mentioned to keep in mind is the brace of Kirby Yates who did throw some innings for him last year, but was a big time closer in 2019 for the Padres. He had to go through a second Tommy John. He's looked good, the splitter, the velocity is also there for him. He could be a name to keep in mind for some important leverage innings and outs for the braves in 2023. And then

"Is Paul and bikinis a researcher at ESPN. And he is Mike Greenberg's right hand man works on the show. Get up. Hambo, how are you doing this week? Plus there I've never been better. I really enjoyed watching the world baseball classic to interrupt all of the Aaron Rodgers news in case you've got her. He might say something or make a decision sometime this week. And what I told greeny, you know, was that both of my daughters, Michelle and Charlotte, are teething right now. They're about 6 months old. They're both teething. And yet he has somehow managed to be the most temperamental person in my life anyway, which tells you all you need to know about him. All you need to know about the Aaron Rodgers saga and I for the life of being so happy that you have given me an opportunity to vent and just talk about freaking baseball. So you're talking about Mike Greenberg or Aaron Rodgers being the most temperamental. You weren't quite clear on that. The answer is all of the above. I've not had the chance to talk with Aaron about his temperamental nature, but I have had the chance to complain to greenie about his. Oh my God, Aaron Rodgers is annoying. And I fold his closure in my biking span, so maybe I felt like that for a while, especially when he's throwing touchdowns, but during this situation is like, dude, get over yourself, make an announcement. Pick up your mind, bro I hear you. Appreciate it on the choir. All right, so you mentioned the WBC. Tell me about that. What do you like about it? So what I like most about the WBC and what has really struck me is the energy. I think because we were so spoiled in this country in terms of just the volume of great sports that are on our TV every single day. I think that I have underestimated the extent to which national pride really plays apart and when you see these electric atmospheres across the globe and when you see tens of thousands of people with Dominican flags and it's just, it just really struck me. Like the extent to which these people love their countries and love the game of baseball. You know, I have long described baseball as a national pastime as it's been described since the 1860s. But honestly, buster, baseball should be selling itself as the international pastime. It is truly our most global game. And I think the extent to which that has been exemplified over the last few weeks is really pronounced. I do think that Major League Baseball is going to probably carry at least a small residual audience from the atmosphere from the energy of the WBC into the beginning of the season. I think all of this could play a factor in the baseball having one of its best seasons in recent memory because I do think that all these rules changes, at least early are going to be very attractive to some more of the casual fan. And if you've gotten into the WBC, I think there will be a carry over effect, at least early in the season. That's what I'm hoping for. Tell me the team that's going to win the WBC based on what you've seen. But based on what I've seen, I think Venezuela has the best team. Now, obviously, Japan might have the best pitching staff, but I've just been so impressed with the way Venezuela plays that lineup is absolutely stacked the way that they were able to shut down the DR in their first game. That was a game I watched in its entirety over the weekend. Like just I've not had a chance to look at the Vegas odds or anything to the effect. I'm going based on just my observations. That was the team that had struck me as the best one that I've seen so far with my own two eyes. A more scientific study might yield a different answer, but I'm going to put my reputation on Venezuela winning the whole thing. All right, and who do you have winning the NCAA tournament? I've got Alabama like everyone else that Alabama is the number one overall seat for a reason. We got a top 5 defense. They have the best player in the tournament. My judgment and Brandon Miller. So it's not an interesting pick, it's not a different thing, but I think it's the correct thing. I've got bamboo cutting down the nets. And me as a Vanderbilt guy, I would be okay with that because my feeling is because Alabama is in the SEC vanderbilts in the SEC. The Vanderbilt finished 5th in the conference, right? That would make Vanderbilt the 5th best team if Alabama wins the title. If that makes sense. Yes, I mean, you're just using the transitive property. And that could be fun. So you like me. Very scientific and rigorous in your process. Right. All right, along those lines, give me your number one overall seed in Major League Baseball. The Atlanta Braves buster are the number one overall seed, the best team in baseball. You know how I feel about these guys. So Michael Harris debuted on May 28th. Spencer strider made its first start on May 30th. From June 1st on, this is a team that played a 112 win pace, the year before. Atlanta won 48 of its last 72 games en route to a World Series title. We have seen the braves over the last two years play at an extremely high level over a prolonged period of time. By the way, they have a healthy Acuna, a healthy albeit. Maybe even a healthy mics are, right? A full year of Harris and stridor, a full year of rice all Iglesias. By the way, they have two top ten catchers. This roster is stacked. I think they will more than make up for the loss of dansby Swanson. And if you told me that the braves have a lot of things go right and the braves got to 110 wins, it would not surprise me. Okay, so a couple of X factors. I'm with you in terms of being high on the braves. In terms of what they're capable of, they do have a couple of, you know, major questions on the roster. One, I think we began to get some information yesterday Ian Anderson optioned the minor leagues Bryce elder option in the minor leagues.
