I i just think this is a nice early test for the broncos defensive backfield because i think that the giants did a really good job in the off season. They got kenny golladay. Their top free agent target. That was the guy they wanted for a very long time. They got him going along with john. Ross who's very fast they picked up. Kyle rudolph In the in the draft to they got another water. They went wide receiver head. Heavy kurd. area's. Tony i mean they loaded up. They want to be able to give daniel jones those weapons in his third year which makes sense. Unlike the broncos they were they loaded up everything last year with your lock in his first full year. They kinda got daniel jones golan with joe judge new new system and everything and then they started loading it up. This is the year for daniel jones of the pressure cooker. He is certainly. He is certainly in that. He's on the hot seat. I mean they have to decide if he's the guy going for. It's amazing how fast this goes. It was not long ago. That oh he's going to be the guy he's going to save us. He's going to take over where you know alive. He's gonna be our eli manning. Well the weapons might be their offense of like. I said the the offense boosted their getting barclay back. I don't know what it looks like. He is slated to play as far as the injuries go. He's listed as questionable but from everything. Offensively should open up a lot of things. I don't really look for a portland. Sutton or jerry judy. To go off for one hundred plus. I think it'll be spread out. Because you're really relying on melvin gordon. The d. line for the giants is certainly questionable. And i like the broncos offense flying a lot. So i think they're gonna move guys around and you know you're gonna hit you know. Maybe judy gets three or four catches for forty five. Forty five yards and a touchdown. Maybe portland sutton's at like six catches for sixty yards cage with like two or three. I could see that kind of spread out offense. I don't know that anybody just dominates especially because teddy's connection is more. Judy coralline sutton was more. I believe it seemed like he had more of a encamp anyway the way he talked and what we heard Was more of a connection with drew. Lock obviously didn't seem last year withdrew but they were good in those five games that he played his rookie season but on the offensive side. I just i think they're going to run the ball. "So i don't think it's too crazy to say here that both these teams coming into this game are equipped to be very very good defensively. And there's a strong possibility this ends up being a low scoring slugfest type game just based on some of the stuff that we've talked about here and if we're evaluating this this broncos defense it has to start with talking about their edge rushers as well as their defensive line and the obvious ones that will be talked about throughout the entirety of this game is von miller in bradley chubb. Both highly drafted players both highly talented players and have been when healthy very very disruptive when they're both on the field and so the giants gets face these guys week one when they're both available and ready to play. It is going to be a tough task for. What's supposed to be nate. Solder and andrew thomas for blocking both of these guys yet chubb is actually dealing with a i think a slight ankle tweak right now need in practice on wednesday that could just be the broncos managing his rep. So it's there's something to pay attention to men. How dangerous is a chris. Von miller and bradley job against matt pair needs solar and andrew. Thomas i mean. That's something that i'm i'm pretty concerned but not to mention the return of mike purcell. Who's one of their better nose. Tackles who can really anchor down the front defense. That is run a lot by vic fangio so this defense against his offense of lines due to the front against offensive line is something that ab i. I have some some some concerns about shirt. I think we have to start with those two edge rushers the last time those two guys were healthy together. Twenty nineteen they. Had i think twenty six and a half sacks between them up chubb has been getting better he had both at seven and a half sacks just all on his own last year without a whole lot of help from elsewhere in the defense von miller was missed the season with a dislocated tendon which ouch and they had completely different secondary that something will get to a little bit and not a whole hell of a lot of help from the offense so if those guys are healthy end clicking end we did get to see them in preseason von miller. He looked like he might have been a little bit rusty but a that dude has been so good for so long. I don't think you can plan on him being any less than his best but then they also have a shelby harassed sean williams dream on jones in their front seven yet. They've got a lot of guys who are really good at penetrating in creating disruption in the backfield and yet that has to be something the giants account for like. They're just not as about it scary too. I mean it's it's definitely that you think about this denver broncos front you think about bradley chubby think about bonn miller then you think about the struggles that you saw in a note was priests anything about the struggles that we saw from andrew thomas in the preseason it's that's definitely probably the main concern. I would say faida circle one liability at the giants have right now. Is the offensive line just in general. I mean you. Add billy price ben. Bredesen's possibly help the interior. Lemieux with the partially torn patellar tendon. How much is paying going to affect him yet. You can be a tough guy but if your body doesn't wanna work right it's tough to will it. So this really is. I think the matchup debt could define the whole game and another thing to add in here too as well with this. This broncos defense another aspect that is just so strong is their secondary and we spent the offseason talking about how the giants rebuilt their receiver group. They made all these moves to signed kennedy golladay to bring in various tony. You've also got john ross. They signed in free agency. This is a completely new look group from what we saw last year. And we have high expectations but the broncos conversely they did the same thing with their secondary they made some moves to to rebuild that group and they have a pretty talented underrated secondary that they're going to be trotting out there on the field drafted patrick's retain top ten. They also they have. Is it key positions with kyle fuller and Ronald darby as well as justin simmons cadence turns we know is a very good athlete. Not necessarily the the best safety who plays on when he put brings it all to the field but a good athlete general so this is a very very strong secondary that the giants receivers are going to be facing off against. Yes the secondary with. Patrick 'certain on. I'm wondering how they're going to utilize 'certain just because i've heard rumblings that they're probably going to use 'certain in a role similar to To cover guys. Like travis kelsey end darren waller. The giants aren't gonna have ingram Allocate 'certain in that manner. Even if evan ingram was one hundred percent healthy so we may be looking at some 'certain covering kenny golladay. Who's coming off an injury looking pretty good from all the stuff that we're seeing in practice but other than 'certain is going to be as i you know action you have kyle fuller. You have ronald darby like you said. I mean kareem jackson. Justin jefferson or justin simmons. That is a really really solid back. End safety in the bryce callahan. Who a lot of people were talking about last year as an excellent slot. Type of cornerback. Who can probably cover sterling shepherding. That could be another match up to watch just from the top down. This defense is is very solid. The giants offense has question marks. And that's probably why we we want to discuss the concern that we have. Especially if they can't block von miller and bradley job. So i'm interested to see how jason garrett is going to use players like cadavers. Tony and how is he going to operate. They selected jc horn quarterback on south carolina. And this is a great addition for the broncos were vic fangio and the defense despite the team's offseason moves in free agency of signing ronald darby to a three year deal and kyle fuller to a one year deal this move makes sense for the broncos to go best player available and when you look at the long term outlook at cornerback for denver. Kyle fuller's here on a one year deal. Bryce callahan deal. The broncos will be up after twenty twenty. One endeavour has to evaluate how they want to build in the future. This is a great pick for the broncos with horn hornhues athletic measurable. 's test off the charts. He's a fast physical and very smart. Cornerback that will fit very well. In vic fangio's defensive scheme now some of the other players we contemplated kayla farley but due to some concerns with his medicals opting out of last season he recently had back surgery even though the broncos interviewed him in the pre draft process. Jc horn seem like the best pick for the organization at this time especially in a tough afc west division or they have to play patrick mahomes and although receiving talent they do have okay. Jc horn won't have to wait long to hear his name called. We're gonna lock justin simmons up. It's going to happen so assuming that that happens. Which i think broncos country really getting happy with what you just said assuming that happens you. You're so good at the safety position there with simmons and cream jackson. We talked about the cornerback side. How far away would you say the broncos defense at this stage getting simmons locked up or how far away are they from getting not getting back to super bowl fifty. That was an elite team. Maybe a historical team but to getting back to a top five overall defense. How far away are we there. I think they could do it this upcoming year. And look look it depends on what they do with von miller cream jackson. I imagine the broncos are going to ask cream jackson to restructure his contract a little bit which could see that happening von miller. That would include both sides to 70. And that would include that north at night. 25 drive, and I 76 but really not a lot of problems in the metro area, Not a lot of big backups. But outside the metro area. We got several spots that are tough. If you're heading down to the springs south on I 25 weeks I've gotta crash just after the large for exit yours real slow through there in that construction zone, the Gap project and then eastbound. I 70 tons of people coming back from a nice, long, leisurely three day weekend in the mountains, and they have to endure that eastbound. I 70 drive that. "Via free agency, and that was the focus free agency. They made a few trades. Let's bring in veteran players. Prior best through the draft, which clearly wasn't enough, But that's the way that the Broncos Have been Through most of John Elway's time is general manager the beginning they were very successful in it. But sooner or later, if you're not doing well through the draft Talent on your roster is going to erode and you're going to end up where the Broncos are. And now in the last couple years, you've had a complete shift. Where the Broncos have gotten. And some of these guys are varying degrees of promising. No. A fan Cortland Sutton. Jerry Judy, don't rise there. Bradley Chub. Justine Simons. All those Simmons bowls. Those guys have been around for a little while. Phillip Lindsay. So You see, the promise of this Broncos team is with their young players. More than their veterans right because the veteran players are the ones that they have whiffed on General Casey not necessarily their fault that was injury, but that might be all she wrote for General Casey in Denver. A J boy. Hasn't worked out. Bryce Callahan hasn't worked out case Keenum didn't work out. Joe Flacco didn't work out. So you've had this shift where the Broncos have done better through the draft. And their best players are ones that have been drafted within the last couple of years. While the Broncos try to bring in these veterans to enhance what they have in the veterans. Have not worked out. So what do you do? You see the trend and you go and get somebody. Who can enhance What you have already done. And as you start to rebuild Of this roster and you bring in somebody who has that mentality where they're gonna build through the draft, and then they're going to try to be opportunistic in free agency. They're not going to try and create a super team like John Elway was able to do. Early on in his tenure. Don't make sense. George Pain does fit with the Broncos have been trying to do. As of late, and if you're rebuilding team the way you rebuild is through the draft, not via free agency, so as the Broncos continue to rebuild, whether they want to admit they're rebuilding or not. "Go on. James played 32 snaps in two seasons, and one of them's an opt out season but would amaze be seen on him. But generally speaking, the right tackle it right across several years, right, But you go back before that I was gonna go with that You started look at the names of the guys they brought in before that. You know Al Barber, Menelik, Watson and Russell Kun and Gerald dear, and we gonna run on? They couldn't get that line short up looking other guys they brought in both Melvin Gordon Melvin Gordon's Got a D U I, Kate Karim Jackson's Got the deal. I know about those guys to play well on the field. You know, that's an awful thing that needs to be the age. A Buddha is didn't really get to play much this year, but a little bit later, okay? I don't know if he was worth the money. Bryce Callahan was worth the money when he was out there, But you can't stay healthy, missed almost all last season part of this season. So you know, I think there's something to be said for having a good pro. Pro player personnel in pro scouting department on hand for the guys that you bring in and champ Jeff has that kind of background. So it all comes down your preferences your personal preferences on this thing. I just want a guy who's you know who's good leader on demand. Winning above all else. I mean, is this really what you ask for now? Show me a plan to talk to me about your plan to get us there. Would you know what? Your core tenements and foundation What do you think about the strengths and weaknesses? This roster? How can we improve that? What's your four year plan for that on, you know, get into those kinds of questions I'd loved. You know, I'd love somebody who's got background in college scouting too. But I think Champs chance would be a good hire. They got it would be you won't be good heart. No, I'm not upset with you. I mean, I like out of Peter's. I was certainly bummed when the 40 Niners poached him, and I knew he meant a lot to this organization. So when that that kind of came down a few years back, I was kind of man that that's a really good higher and look what they were able to do out there. They obviously really stocked that roster. It was a depleted team that was really headed nowhere. And with Adam Peters help and and again, you know an organizational direction that they had between Lynch and Shannon, and they were able to put together some impressive rosters there and obviously get themselves into the Super Bowl last year. So one of the things that I think is cut up a lot, and this has been wildly debated on social media. And that is what does this mean for Drew lock and even here on the text line, Getting a question about Well, you know, new GM might want to trade up. I want to get his own guy here then without knowing ultimately who the GM is based on the way the Broncos finished up the season based on what you relatively know about the team's view on Drew Locke, What is this? Decision by John Elway Mean for him right now? Well for John.
