Let's Empower Parents to Stand Up and Push Back
"So Bryce, you and I were texting when this was bubbling up a couple weeks ago. And you said you were getting kind of competing pieces of advice and I told you, you got to fight punch back twice as hard. What have you kind of learned through this kind of for other parents that are maybe in the middle or on the edge of publicizing or standing against this kind of nonsense in public schools? Yeah, so first, listen, my natural inclination. I'm a combat sports athlete, right? So my natural inclination is to lean in and press in and fight these things, but I want to be like rob says dangerous and wise. And we have to strike the appropriate tones of these things. But the real thing here is we need other people to be safe and know that they can participate and should push back because they don't own our kids and at the teachers and the parents need to see the example. Once you do stand up, look, these people are wimps at the end of the day. And in the last school board meeting, the people that were trying to dox all of the people that were supporting Steve and tried to lay out the people that are behind the alternative paper here and naming names and all that stuff. They were crying. At the school board meeting. We need to stand up and we need to do a bravely because they will back down.
The Troubling Case of One Parent's Journey in Defending His Child
"Hello everybody to the special episode of the Charlie Kirk show, with us right now is my pastor, rob McCoy. Rob, welcome back. Thanks, buddy. And then joining us remotely is Bryce ceti, the great Bryce, and Bryce, I don't know if you've ever been on our program. So welcome to our not yet. So here we go. Thank you. And Steve Schneider, who is a great American, and we're honored to have all of you guys and kind of talk about something important that is local in our focus, but national in nature. Absolutely. And so however you guys want to take it, rob, do you want to start? And then we can kind of, let me do my best to frame it. And then I know Jason Steve will be able to add all kinds of insight to it. In our community, the kineto unified school districts, there's two newspapers in the Canelo valley where I reside. And as this Bryce and Steve, these two newspapers, one is the guardian, the other, is the acorn. The guardian did a paper, did an article called third grade teacher promotes gender confusion in the classroom. And it was an article writing on behalf of Steve Schneider, who's on the program with us. Who was standing in defense of his third great daughter, who was told by the teacher to now these are the new pronouns of this fellow student in your class, and this is a book I want to read to you on transgender. And then expose the children to a video without parental permission. Steve took issue with at the kineto guardian on his behalf, wrote a very, very clear and concise article, everything and it was true. Good reporting, the acorn, which is a defender of what I would say that California teachers association and the district itself took great offense to it. Then the news channels came out CBS. They did a whole thing on it. And then there was graffiti at that elementary school and they blamed Steve Schneider for it. The police came to his house. He'll tell you more about that. He wasn't even there, so it was crazy.

Bryce Mitchell: We Shouldn't Be Giving Our Tax Dollars to Ukraine
"To get your thoughts on the whole Russia and Ukraine situation. You know, here's my first daughter. I'm not going nowhere to fight. None of these wars for these politicians. I'm staying at home and when the war comes dark and I will dig my boots in the ground and I will die for everything I love and I will not retreat. If this country is invited and everybody is saying, well, we got to evacuate. We got to leave. I will not. I will dig my boots in the Arkansas soil and I will fight for the people that I love for the land that I love in a way life that I love but I'm not going over she's to fight. I don't know what's going on to be honest, brother. I really don't. There's so much stuff and I don't think nobody knows what's going on fool. There's been so much political corruption in that area. You got Biden and his son making a ton of money off of and using our tax dollars to bribe their people. That's treasonous in my opinion. So you get Hunter Biden and his son using our tax dollars. Hey, if Ukrainian government, if you don't do this, we're taking your tax dollars. He shouldn't be given our tax dollars to that country anyway. We got veterans out here sleeping on the street and you're going to give our freaking tax dollars to these Ukrainians and I'd rather I don't know what's going on over there, but I'm not going over there fighting and God bless anybody that's over there is fighting and I hope that this just gets solved and I don't like war, you know what I mean? I don't want people dying and all that stuff. I don't want to be, but I don't know what's going on there. So much stuff that I think it's corrupted that we just don't know what's truly going on over there and I pray all those people are saying wow.
Rep. Timmons & MMA Fighter Bryce Mitchell's Counter Views on Russia
"Timmons out of South Carolina, say the American people aren't like this. The American people, we fight for life. We should, anyway, but there's another view to this. The counter position to what congressman Timmons said this morning on the radio with my pal Joey Hudson on 94 5, the answer, the counter to that came from an MMA fighter named Bryce Mitchell. Now, I don't know much about him at the MMA sport or that whole genre. I know that Bryce Mitchell's nickname is thug nasty. So thug nasty is not too keen on the United States engaging in a war with Ukraine. Now, you may ask yourself, what is

"It's an interesting proposition. Thank you for the call. And let's check out TD in Georgia. Hello TV. Hey, Paul. How's it going, man? Very well. Thank you. Good, hey, we're not a great is beat down British beating out ever seen. What are you talking about that? Well, certainly in the running, I would agree. Okay, let me tell you, okay. This was a legend. The second best beatdown was when Baltimore coach got me down in 1968. They were supposed to be the greatest team that ever been in jets and name it put it on them. How about that? That was one of the considered the biggest football episode of all time. Booker in New Jersey is on the air. Hello, Paul. Thanks again and hello? Yeah, Booker, you're on the air. Yeah. Yeah. Remember I told you about the second or third week of the season. It would be some big upsets. Yeah. Well, of course, you know, my book eyes didn't make, but I'm really glad because I'm a roll fan. So you'd rather go to the rose bowl than be in the playoff, right Booker? Yeah, yeah, I don't feel this year. We are year away. Yeah, well, then how come one of your top players is opting not even to play in the rose bowl? Yes. That's kind of that. You know, I need to go and do like my daddy's take me to the Woods here, but you can't do that now. Do you think with Lincoln Riley going to the going to USC? That might have an impact on the flow of guys. That's very nice young man Bryce young to come in all the way from Pasadena where I thought I was going to move on to him. And CJ Stroud, I think it will because I mean, let's be honest, clay halton was a nice guy but a pedestrian coach and nobody wanted to play for him. And Lincoln Riley, you have one of the top offensive coaches in the country. And I think he will get a lion's share of again, there are plenty of quarterbacks in California to go around. It's just a matter of getting the right one since two or three guys. And the other guys, I think somewhere in the SEC. They ought to be a statue somewhere in there for John McKay, because he really opened the eyes and really started the ball in the road to make the SEC with the day after that legion feel would bear brat with sound bam Cunningham. You sure did. Because that really because at that time, the African American would say this and I've been saying this now for about 15 or 20 years once I got the story straight. Do you realize that when that game occurred that Alabama had already Alabama already had his first black player sitting in the stands watching that game as a freshman? I heard about it. Yes. Okay. And I know that in fact I'm going to see some of these guys in a couple of days. And calling it urban legend is ridiculous. It's just not true that that game changed college football. I know that that's certainly what the stories have been written. And when Sam Cunningham died a few weeks ago, that's what the media wrote, but it's just simply not true. And I think maybe we're in another millennium now. Maybe we can start getting that story right. We will take a break, more to come, Roman Harper joining us shortly..

More of your phone calls at 8 5 5 two four two 7 two 8 5 Monique is up next. Good afternoon. Hey, Paul. How are you doing? I am well. Thank you. Hey, I got two questions. My first question is, how do you view Alabama from this point that they don't want to issue champion initiative? Well, Monique, I think you have to view them very positively. They still have some flaws, but they've been able to overcome almost everything thrown at them this year. Why? So that being said, I wonder if the media look at them as in, okay, well, we all know they've been the number one team, you know, we all know that. So violent, they don't have some short term if they don't fail us. I think it's going to happen is I think you'll see an overreaction, whether that's justified or not. I think instead of people doubting Alabama going into the playoffs, they are going to give them the benefit of the doubt. Hey, thank you for the call. Really appreciate it. We are heading to the break right now, and we come back. We expect to talk to Bryce young. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. Welcome all of you back to the program. We'll continue with more phone calls. Guests will start dropping in here very quickly. Matt is up next in San Antonio. Hey, man. Where were you actually man? I missed you. You wasn't my best friend, man. I'm sorry, Matt, sorry I wasn't here. Okay, I was going to say to your friend, you passed away. I hope his family guests and comfort in knowing I'm not trying to be judgmental Asian and better place these looking down on them. I think there's a pretty good chance of that. Okay, well I'll tell you about texting and the bowl games. This way for his team, I worry about filmmakers, so they're worth the thing. Crap out of them. I worry about them. And I'm also okay, but the number of Korean questions might bring in. And once you start on a pause, the game and that as well. I haven't really thought about the game yet. Where is that game? Do you know? I think it's in the border again, just before, okay, we played their last time. Okay. I think the most important thing isn't the game, I think it's the recruiting class, mad, and Jimbo Fisher has talked about it and it keeps getting better. It's one of the top two or three classes in the country, maybe the Best Buy that by this time next week. And that's significant. Because Jimbo has proven that he can recruit just like Sabin and Kirby smart. And that's the best ticket for that program to advance. Let's continue with more phone calls. Brad is in Florida. Hello Brad. Hi, Paul. How are you? I'm well. Thank you. Appreciate it. Well, it looks like you can either find your barking, you practice embark in a little better. I've got I'm glad I don't have to bar right now because I don't think I could handle it. That being said, the idea to I woke up Sunday and had to eat a little bit of humble pie, but I'll take it, but I ain't ready to give up on my dog. I want to clear up a couple of things. I want to say something to first of all are Georgia fans got a short memory and I don't like that they keep on everybody's own Kirby talking about he can't assess a quarterback and he made a mistake with Jake fromm and Justin Fields and this and that, the other, Jake fromm is not stepping back. Jake from would have won that ball game. And what everyone doesn't remember is Justin Fields went to Ohio State. And yes, he won his Heisman, but they got to the national championship and they played Alabama and you remember what happened? Lost about 28. They lost exactly right. Well, but Brad, he came in second to devonta Smith and the Heisman and he had a great year and he had a great two years, but he was a good quarterback. He was all about the future. He was not better than Jake fromm. At any point during those two years. Very good. Very good. That's exactly right. I'm not talking to you. I'm talking to our Georgia fans that are on Kirby. He's the best thing that's happened at Georgia since bridge Dooley. People need to remember that. The other thing that I want to say to miss L that came on the show the other day in a blanket, I can relate a chuckle about that, but tell her she's got it wrong. Don't give up. You look up, you look up. Definition. I think it's going to be okay. Hey, thank you very much for the call. I do appreciate it. We're really looking forward to saying hello to our next guest who is probably one of the busiest young men in America with award shows, a Heisman Trophy stole a recovering from the SEC championship. We're talking about Bryce young and Bryce. Thank you very much for making time. I know this is a really busy and exciting time in your life. How are you and what's going on? I'm good. I'm blessed and thank you for having me on. We're delighted. And I think we're all interested maybe better understand.

"Wasn't part of the plan, he said he was going home and now he's going to see a friend. Weird. The officers did perform a field sobriety test, and brace past. The officers also noticed that he didn't seem to be under any sort of influence. He was actually in a really great mood, totally with it, friendly, happy, all that. There was nothing found of any consequence but still. He was totally cooperative as well as completely lucid during this whole encounter. The officers did tell Bryce that his parents were worried, and that he should call them and let them know that he was doing okay, and he was safe. Now brace was hesitant at this point. He didn't want to call his parents and ultimately the officers ended up calling for him. Once on the phone with his parents, Bryce's mom again asked what he was doing. And Bryce said he was going to hang out with some friends later, and he was just blowing off steam right now. Just chilling. From here, the police said to Bryce, that he was fine to go, and that there was no reason to keep him. They told this to care and as well, after all he wasn't intoxicated and he was able to operate the vehicle. Now on no sleep I'm not sure how safe that is, but he wasn't doing anything wrong that would require them to keep him. After this determination carene was like, okay, well, if he's fine to drive, haven't make his way home them. Which we've already tried this. He's not making his way home. He has had every opportunity to make his way home in hasn't. And my question is, if you've told him, X amount of times, to make his way home, and he clearly hasn't moved any of the X amount of times you told him to get moving. Would you not take the initiative and go out there and see what's going on? Because at this point, he wasn't that far from their house. Remember he had completely gone past his apartment, and kept going towards his parents home. So you could have very easily hopped in the car and made the two three hour drive to go get to him. Anyways the police leave and Bryce's now supposed to be heading home again. And, again, hours have passed, and he still is.

"And then completely bypassed his apartment, and kept going towards his parents home. And remember this is well over 400 miles, so a very long drive. Especially in the middle of the night. At this point, rice's parents are thinking that Bryce is on his way home to them, so that they can talk about whatever he had mentioned that they needed to talk about the night before. Now they are still trying to get a hold of Bryce. He's still not answering the phone. But then they remember the Castro tire and gas charge. That Bryce had made. So they decide to call there and see if anyone working there remembers seeing Bryce. The owner a man named Christian answered. And told them that he had actually brought three gallons of gas out to a young man, who was out of gas that morning at 9 a.m.. So this is a little weird. It's 11 a.m. when the last pieces are receiving a call from the insurance company. And, according to Christian, he brought gas too bright at 9 a.m.. So where was Bryce? And why wasn't he home yet? He would have arrived by 11, so where is he? Still, on the phone with Christian, he can hear the worry, coming from Bryce's parents. So he offers to drive out to where he left Bryce in the gas, and see if he still there or not, and evaluate the situation. Which is super nice, by the way, because he is obviously not obligated to help or do anything, but he is anyways. Christian drives out to where he had delivered the gas and finds that Bryce is still in the same spot that he had left him at 9 a.m.. After getting gas, Bryce didn't continue on his way. He didn't drive off. He didn't go anywhere. He stayed in the same spot.

Tell us a little about what you're doing and how you got started. Yeah so i Live down here. in austin. A baylor graduate was my first introduction to texas. Was gordon to baylor and exploring waco. I majored in a couple of different things. I i started in. The business will studying entrepreneurship Than i also got interested in political science and environmental science and ended up finishing with a degree in integrated studies which is actually a bachelor of science and currently. I'm finishing up my masters at the university of texas Getting a masters of science in technology commercialisation toss about honesty project. Introduce your business in. By your rule there yes project is a fintech startup here in texas. I currently run the company as ceo. A also do work for dell technologies a help build their sales works platform to internal business intelligence tool used by sales operations and finance. And i also worked on several other businesses in the past back in high school. I started the gum chewing gum company. We were actually one of the first ship by sold by amazon dot com food products which is very cool. We also sold through dhaka stores at different high schools around the country a decade kind of business competition and mentor ship program for high school students. Fb la which i know is more popular down south and after that i started a natural energy drink company well in college prior to all that my Elementary school gym teacher got me invested interested in investing in the stock market. She would give me rights to soccer practice. Which is right by her farm and introduced me to her son. Who was a big investor so i would trade portfolios with my grandma we would check out the stocks and whatnot and invested in tesla. Back in two thousand nine so that was a very cool investment. Shortly after its ipo and really took off. I i believe in following a lot of principles of jim collins books which are more business books built built to last and degrade talks about level five leadership and i believe when you're investing in a company the k. Tender great financials are great but if you invest in the individuals leading the organization and if they've built a solid foundation there's a lot better long-term return. Yeah you're you're absolutely right bryce And that was something that we've talked about with other speakers to is how important that initial team is and how how important teams are just in general right. Our team members are french. Whoever you're working with and in humans our biggest biggest asset human capital is incredibly important. And so we're glad glad you're here today and hopefully we'd hear more about your team and hear more about odyssey project. I think that's a great place for us to start being the ceo of obviously project. If it's the thirty thousand foot level of what the odyssey project is yes. So we're working on building a close loop payment network with legacy support. Basically what that means. We've built our own internal network for friction with funds flow typically transaction. There's anywhere from eight to nine sometimes even more companies or middlemen involved in processing the data and facilitating the movement of funds which creates fees. and time. which can impact business cash flow and getting their disbursements. How long it takes for an employee or another consumer to get their funds and so our main focus is to break down those payments silos through working with industry partners and our own technology to make it easier for business to accept funds as well as disperse payments. Bryce that's interesting. So you're saying that you're creating a friction list closed loop payment network. Is that right. Yes so i know that's something that you're jumping into fresh out of baylor's tell me what kind of resources did you gain from baylor. And how did they support you in that new venture yeah. We received a lot of support from baylor one of our advisers actually bradley norris in entrepreneurship department and even since the time i've been at baylor continued to grow the resources that they have the the baylor business school has a lot of opportunities. Things like joining venturing out joining a podcast. The new baylor entrepreneurship club which is very exciting. And didn't exist when i was there and there's lots of saudi abroad opportunities as well just ways to immerse both as an individual entrepreneur but also ways to innovate within an organization through corporate entrepreneurship and finance. So i definitely recommend to anybody. We're student Get involved with just the business school in general whether or not your business major there's aspects of business at touch every industry whether you're commercializing fashion at with the baylor school of art design or your innovating a new way to for example work on cova which is very timely thing and creating a new ventilation systems using different materials. Which i know there were projects that went on at the baylor Building and so there's different ways to commercialize products and speaking of commercializing products the brick the baylor research and innovation collaborative as doing some amazing works around science and technology and taking patented baylor technology and bringing it to market and they actually provided us with some co working space when we first started out as well so lots of support from baylor and a lot of resources. I recommend baylor students to reach out for assistance. Starting their their ventures. Yeah that's that you've got a lot of awesome resources from baylor. Baylor definitely has a really strong ecosystem for entrepreneurs in been accredited by multiple agencies and administrations for the support. That we give student entrepreneurs. I wanna follow up. There's absolutely no question whatsoever. I'm taking bryce harper. Bryce harper's worst case scenario. I mean is this not just about as basically now this base no no no. This is not as worst case scenario which is worse case scenarios. He misses fifty games. His baseline is this. I'm sorry dude. You're in for a rough next decade. Oh no i know i i know really. I don't care who is hanging baseline. What do you think is baseline is now. I think it's a little better than this. I actually think that there is something thing to the players who are in their first year as the featured star on a new team that in year number two it does get a little bit better does not mean i think he's going to be a mega star star next year but i think things are going to get a little bit better all right that is it any final thoughts here. "Three eighty three six seventeen with seven homers and seventeen r._b._i. You feel any better about them now. Pollock <hes>. That's a really good. Run hawks been hitting for average of late but he's not producing anything. <hes> seven seventeen in twenty one runs since when since the all-star break when he was activated. I'm looking at the last three weeks. He's done very little like yeah. That's the mix and match puzzle piece wpro striking out but he has an attempted to steal in a long time. They platoon everybody. I don't know he's sending left these but not righties in politics one of those guys who's just not hitting hand pitching you know he's getting clobbered by right handed pitching and i think he's probably not healthy so that is is a guy that you've got to be happy with him. The daily leagues but yeah that dodger offense man. I mean obviously ballandras. Great muncie segers overrated. Sorry look at the numbers. He's clearly clearly overrated based on his a._d._p. Pollock's overrated because everybody remembers the year he was a top ten player. He hasn't done it since stay healthy trying to be mean just pointing out the the facts. They can't just keep looking at these bryce. Harper is not a top ten thirty fantasy. I love him. I love watching place trying really hard defensively. It's been fine on bass is he's very progressive but you're still ranking him and drafting him and auctioning based on the fact that he was an m._v._p. Isn't it partially saying something great about the outfield position in the top ten as opposed to criticizing bryce harper. I don't think i have harper and my top twenty outfitters now. Wow you can get twenty. Do you think if you're gonna twenty outfielders ahead of him from next year i again not a criticism i understand this is if bryce harper to fifty and steal seven bases he's nine top twenty f- fielder if it's just power and it's not even monster power which it could be next year but if he pats to fifty and steal seven bases. Why would you rank them over nelson cruz. I'm just saying for example. Obviously cruises older knows and cruise. Next year is going about two eight with forty home runs. Bryce harper is not. I'm not sure nelson. Cruz is gonna do that why he's doing it now and being hurt. It's gonna stop. All of them are a ah yes but why was it stopped next year if you told me the nelson cruz as more homers are behind batting average and bryce harper next year i'd be like yeah of course why wouldn't he so today will pick you take no. I don't want to set against harper. I'm just telling you like. I'm using a cop here. Which is to say okay. Maybe is used younger player that nelson cruz because it's too easy for you to say he's going to fall apart because he's thirty eight versus outfield which is unfair. That's fine say it's unfair being by the way i'm not being critical the critical of cruise i think if the worst case i could shave five homers five batting average points off and that's still makes an excellent baseball player bursts harper's the number seventeen eighteen outfielder now. That's my point seven change next year. I think it's mostly volume though like i because he hasn't missed any games so yes. He's probably gonna end up top twenty but like man. I really wanted the kris bryant behind him where you would take over bryant. Max cameras chambres me. Why would you take harp over next coupla or am. I don't wanna take tommy fan. I don't want to harp over fan. This is too much on bryce harper. The camera kepler's yeah. I would say the keppler who we discussed. The other day is competitive with there's a bunch of outfitters that are not top twenty on the player this season that i think i would still take take higher than harper one of them. One of them is <hes> kepler. I think fam- goes there conforto. Maybe they're also three see that are ahead of him..

"J._d. Martinez is not going to be my top twenty and the perception goes back to what i said about the playing time the dodgers love to platoon and mix and match as much as they possibly can move guys around even within games at different positions and that does slice. It's a little bit of the played appearances away all right relief pitcher time. Here's the closer carcelle way. Davis didn't didn't again this time in a road game and he's out his closer. Nothing against wade davis. I just i don't want fantasy managers to keep having to deal with this mess and he finally got lit up in a road game and i thank carlos estevez would get the weekend safe chance who knows for sure. They may not even have one. I didn't realize felipe. Vasquez has three saves in two months yep. They know they're it hit. The pirates offense has been an embarrassment since the all-star would drop vasquez would you i i have as in my points league and it's the fact that he's not not getting save. Opportunities is killing me. He's an excellent pitcher who i can't drop just because he is the closer and he puts up competitive stats everybody else rapid fire. Liar most say's residencies and braves gee. I really like third on my list. Don't feel great about this. Bullpen marlins is going to keep this job wow. I can't believe you said i'm not a milan-san guy. What makes milan-san a better pitcher than shane in green. He's pitching better now so he's not giving up home runs so two weeks decides that two weeks milan-san hasn't given up more than five homers a season in like five years okay. He's a ground ball guy. In fact the braves have the only three pitchers with like ten or more saves while melissa doesn't have it. They have only two pitchers. Here's with ten more saves on the top thirty leaderboard ground ball rate they have green and jackson but milan's is currently the closer and he's like fifth and ground ball rates at britain's always number one <hes> <hes> bummer number two malysz grandma guy pitching well. I think he keeps the job all right so that wasn't real rapid fire dodgers dodgers who gets the most saves kenley jansen and kenley jansen by the way i think he's going on. I think he's going on the d._l. For two weeks in september because he's bad they want to prepare for october i could. Let's see that but he gave them another home yesterday. That's eight on the season i he he can fake his way to save just kimbro can but i'm telling you they have to sit him at some important to get him ready for october either. He's tired or bad. I don't know what's wrong with him. I don't have my teams absolutely fair. I just think when he is on the active roster when he's healthy oh yeah he's closer. Sir mets seth lugo rangers leclerc. Gonna lose it again nationals. Who ooh though i i i don't wanna lose to manual claims who's just frankly better than leclerc. He walked the bases loaded in the other day. It gave up on another homer and another outing. He's bad now. He doesn't know where the ball's going. I understand the contract rangers not making the playoffs anyway. I think clay's gets a chance. He's bad leclerc span. Now see i could see it. I don't know that the rangers are going to push claes too close for five weeks but i see your point nationals. Most of the rest of the year <hes> jeez i daniel hudson is it at probably is but that that could be divided up amongst several players marlins oh jeez void entirely but they're going to win at least lisa game against the phillies this week and they always do. I mean the the chance they got after the trade..

"I don't think we learned anything between march and today we know what he's capable of. He's not doing it. He's been consistent on erotic. I i don't want any part. I think we've learned that i can't wait for twenty twenty one to end for him to see what he might offer in another ballpark because i do think he's been a aac quietly decent pitcher considering the obstacle of course field that he faces and this year's final stat line was good not great for a rockies pitcher. What are you doing casey mayes next season. You're going to rank them to season's over. I think right is innings. We stop it's done. It was at one hundred nine the number one hundred nine yeah eh. Can you make somebody like that or forest whitley who may not be opening their rotation for houston or any pitcher like does the may we know i think will be in the dodgers rotation. I'm going to rank them. Whatever i did like thirty five number forty. Maybe that's a little aggressive. What are you doing casey mayes. I feel like right now. I can't can't rank them for any kind of mixed ten or twelve team league because i don't think he's going to be in the majors long enough and the reason. I think that it's just that with tigers not being competitive. There's every reason just in the current environment by the extra years of free agency as a matter of fact the first guy that came to mind as a as somewhat of a skills come was aaron nola and i feel feel like i feel like they might give them the treatment that aaron nola had when he debuted with the phillies in two thousand fifteen and that was he played barely half the year for them thirteen starts. I think if you give projection today that's about right. Yes i mean i still think rookie pitchers are not the same as rookie hitters but we've seen some like a store performances out of the hitters. Destroy obviously the baseball's. I would love to have seen what you're alvarez would have done like two years ago with normal baseball. Maybe he still would have been great. Yeah yeah you know may maybe he would be great. I i don't think so but lake not trying to be mean i just i don't know you can't put historical context on any of this stuff so so i'm going to go with the hitters all. I'm probably not going to rank mayes among my top seventy five starting pitchers because i just a. I don't know what he's coming up be. I don't want to deal with it when he does has because he's a pitcher but you'd like to rank them. If you had confidence he could give you may. I the end of the air sure chris paddock. I maybe i didn't have enough teams because i wasn't wasn't sure than the padres from oldham right away and i was like this guy is great. He hasn't been great recently. It's still rookie pitcher right so sirocco is a little different he pitch last season. I think he knew what he was going to be. Good that is good but rookie pitchers man i. I don't really want any part of what i do. Wanna part of ziprecruiter hiring is challenging dongjing but there's one place you can go..

"Now in standard leagues the hottest hitters hitters on the most added lists that are still available nick ahmed of arizona great power of late. Maybe he's a thirty homer guy. The giants outfitters mike extreme ski kevlar. I wrote a rip job today on your streams he it's not against him. He never showed any power ever and now with the have even baseball's people are saying well he. He has more power than his grandfather. Carl does does not the same game. This grandfather played in an era where it was epic. How much the pitchers he's got an advantage. There changed the rules on the mound. Benjamin well the height of it in order to combat that so let's not criticize carl there by the way i'm ed ah quick note on that. I wrote in the forecast for last week. He has shown incredible improvement against right handed pitchers becoming a much more complete player right and i wrote that about marquette of the athletics the other day saying i think these guys who were platoon guys. All of a sudden are doing great. Things against the other side you might get stransky was not supposed to hit lefties. He has a higher ups against them seventeen nineteen homers and half a season. Maybe he's thirty homer guy too. He never even hit like ten in the minors. It's crazy. What's happening will smith dodgers. You gotta have him. I think he's a top five catcher right now now. What does he have like five homers in the past week and a half or something like that. It's just been quietly excellent at that position since the recall and considering the lack of proven high hi upside options yeah you can certainly make the case easily. Obviously a rest- aristidis aquino is on this list as well most ad. It's interesting pitchers on the list. <hes> see if you agree well ryan yarborough number one that's fine. He's pitched well. Ivanova using the the workload is a little bit expand compared to the last year with wpro absolutely absolutely he's been starting. I guess people didn't like when he was starting in the second inning but in the first thing they like it. I didn't realize how low the case where for yvonne novo that's bad that's scary. I don't want any part yeah. Nova has pitched very well and i think we even mentioned on the other show. The forecaster likes him somewhat. He used to be a complete discard at the beginning of the year now. He's not but i'm with you. I don't like the locate rate. That bothers me. Andrew heaney fourteen strikeouts scenario walk. Where'd that come from yeah. Now that just a one game thing and aborignes or are you buying. I'd have to lean towards being one game thing just because the angels have traditionally been doing this allowing pitcher to go that deep as a matter of fact he said standards i think all time for the franchise lead in terms of strikes and walks the combo in the game the other one is it was the longest outing by any starting pitcher what bothered me in response to that for the angels as they pushed him back to next week for his next start to make up for the long outing so yeah they're they're not leaning on starting pitchers angel going for an all time low in terms of volume from starters lucas gilio he look pretty good yesterday is he did and it's not a complete game shutout people. It's just a shutout that assumes booms the complete game part. I don't like when people on t._v. Or even tweet out hey. It's a complete game shutout. It's not it's a science slam home. Run yeah exactly same thing. Thank you i. I appreciate that what else oh boy john gray he's done for the season. I knew you were gonna bring this up and i want to know i learned learn nothing. Tony muted. There's a lot of NATs fans who don't want to give this guy the satisfaction of game in letting all these other Phillies fans that are going to be there. Make people think that there have a problem with this. You're going to hear a lot of noise from actual Philly's fan. But overall a lot of people who root for this team have basically gotten over it. When the details came out about how the learners offered him a deal, they offered less to the second time around with all that deferred cash. It became clear that they couldn't make the decision publicly to move on from him. From a baseball standpoint. They certainly had wanted to get more money for Corbin. You've got Soto you've got eaten back. You've got those at second base. The lineup is fine. People are not worried about the baseball. The concern was about the star power walking away. But he's already done his job at this point. That's fans are moving on. And they have moved on already. And I think that having. "Okay. So fact checked this whole when you count firm flation, it's not the the best contract ever. And there's something to it. Because Giancarlo Stanton sign that contract in two thousand fourteen cents then on average, the US dollar has seen inflation rate rise of about one point two three percent per year. So prices in this country or about six point three percent higher than they were back in two thousand and fourteen and he only made five million extra dollars on a contract that surpass three hundred million dollars. So Dan, you are correct with your take does anyone care about that though? I don't think that I think people here the three hundred thirty million and Scott Boras is egos soaked and savvy enough to know that you throw that number out there people don't care much of the about the math after that. We just thinking of Boers reputation. Do we know that Harper wasn't like? His ear saying I just want the biggest baseball contract ever know what a great point. But STAN was saying he wanted the longest contract he could possibly get the rare. Great point by Chris, Cody, even he seems surprised by it. Yeah. But about Scott Boras. Okay. Bryce Harper was in his ear. He really had to fight. Scott Scott Boris on that I want the biggest contract ever. But if it's report he said is saying that he was offered four years one hundred and sixty five million. So that he would have got his one percent of that. And then in four years been able to negotiate a new contract stay, why do we care so much about this rebel create an entire cottage industry around the idea of sports business and explaining sports business to people who clearly care about these numbers. Why do we care this way? We are talking more baseball because of these damn contracts than we ever talk when they're playing game. We haven't even got into signing. Bonuses, dan. Did you see Bryce he's only making ten million this year because of that twenty million dollar signing bonus. He's getting that's awesome. Oh my God. I would signed a one million dollar contract year thirteen years one million dollars, and then got an a three hundred and seventeen million dollar signing bonus. I love that ESPN tweeted out that Bobby Baena is gonna be paid by the Mets for three years after the Phillies. Stop. Paying Bryce Harper that Bobby in the nineties signed that contract that paid him a million dollars a year every year, and I've seen business people break down and say that's not the way to do it. You shouldn't do it that way. But Baena was like, look, I'm not blowing my money. I'm going to make a million dollars a year for three or four years after Bryce Harper makes basically winning the lottery every year every year. How would you do if you win the lottery, would you take the lump sum or would you do the yearly payouts 'cause if you do the lump sum, they cut it in half, basically? And then you gotta pay taxes like another house. You're basically getting a quarter of whatever the winnings are. But if you take it all over like thirty year pay you get all of it. And then you lose half of it in taxes or whatever. But you know, you look I'm gonna get like thirty million dollars this year, and I'll never blow look I can probably blow four hundred million dollars. I mean, I don't think I actually could. But everybody does it. So I guess I could to everybody does a lot. Yeah. Dan winters. Not very many people do not. No, wait a minute. Do the testing. Yes. Lottery winners. Go broke it like an eighty percent rate. Yes. They're not the ones that are winning field million..

"Nineteen screaming being fired up the last couple of years with the nationals have felt stale in that regard. I think this gives Bryce great opportunities to reenergize. What do you think? I completely agree. One hundred percent. And it's not for a I don't I don't imagine. That rice Harper has any ill will towards the nationals given the way that they took care of him. Given what they allegedly were offering him. If this is not a question of aid didn't want me they decided not to re sign me. They alienated me but a hundred percent being being in Washington. Several times for games there that there was that is exactly the right word kind of stale nature. To the entire process. It just felt like the air had come out of the balloon, and look this may benefit in some odd way the nationals you're turning the page on the Bryce Harper era. Yes as half a they have a fantastic team there. And look, you know, he he as much energy as he creates. He has the ability to also suck energy out of the room. And if he's not going, well, and you need your energy source to to provide that if he's only providing it, and there's not enough other guys around him providing it what he's not doing. Well, well, the team is flat. I I'd look the nationals could easily win that division. They're great. And they may go in there. Now as we've seen before and say, you know, what let's show we are way bigger as the some of our parts than we were with the superstar Bryce Harper. Let's let's show everybody. So I think this could work out in an odd way for them to. Yes. Somebody told me last night from another team said boy, if you're the Mets and your Brodie van wagon, and you're seeing this going oh boy. Because they have talked all winter about you know, making their team better. And now everybody else's loaded up to and so it'll be an absolutely tremendous race. Let's look at some of the Domino's that could come out of this with the rest of free agency. There was a perception. I you know, within among teams that I spoke with that. If the Phillies didn't sign Bryce Harper that they would spin off maybe focus on a Dallas. Kyko maybe focus on Craig kimbrel. But now they have hand they certainly have the money. I think left if they choose to if and we've seen this happened with Scott Boras clients before where one guy signs, and then another guy piggybacks off of that, maybe Dallas calico winds up there. Maybe GIO Gonzalez. Another voice. Client winds have taken that spot. I think it does raise an open question. What's next for Craig kimbrel?.

"Then all of a sudden you get the news of Bryce Harper in this lineup. Listen, even if he has an average year he makes everybody around them that much better in the Phillies could come in and get one more reliever. I just believe they need one more reliever. This is a first place team right now, this is a nationally beast in the east because it is a nasty division predict. But I had them right now, probably at the top contending with a week left in the and anything can happen. And coming up, call Ravitch, and I will talk about whether or not the Phillies might spin off an add a kaikal or Craig kimbrel or maybe GIO Gonzalez intimate coaching was asked by reporters about the Harper deal. We're going to to just maybe make this team that much better and seems to be a threat and is going to be a soon be exciting for all of us. You know, everywhere we go. Here's Aaron Nola as pretty cool. Finally, you know. I think Lura good team before him. But. Now, he he he that addition to the team makes us even better. So, you know, we're glad glad to claim them. And I'll look at poor for him again here, Sal paolantonio. Philly guy talked to will Cain about the decision by Harper signed with the Phillies. Bottom line is. This the Phillies had to do this deal. They were back into a public relations corner. They had to get out of it. First of all when John Middleton said, they was prepared to spend stupid money that has been a headline and on and tape loop on ninety seven five the fanatic or ESPN affiliate in Philadelphia where people have called in and said, let's let's spend stupid money Machado Harper. Where's the stupid, buddy? And then when it became clear that the dodgers and giants may sweep Parker off his feet. There wasn't revolt in town..
