And after allowing five goals in the third period last night on route to a 7 to 2 lost to the Islanders head coach Bruce Cassidy said today. It will be good to put that game behind them quickly. We had a lousy 20 minutes last night, otherwise going into the third period that we're right there. Maybe even the better team through 40 minutes. So the end of the day gotta flush that learned from it. Like I said, I think the other part is guys want to get back on it. They don't like toe. Let a period like that linger for very long. Could a Jack Eichel Trade Land Him With the Boston Bruins?
"You want to make a safe bet how about you bet every year around this point of the Season where Jack eichel is unhappy with the situation in Buffalo there every year. It's the annual Jack. Eichel is sick of Buffalo story, but probably won't actually get traded. Maybe this is finally the years but Buffalo continues to lose which I don't know why this is a surprise to him at least like just cuz my God what Taylor home exactly like to be I don't know maybe I guess when you're in that moment, you know when you're on that team you think wow, we just got so much better. But in reality you just got a better scoring Winger on one line. Like it's this isn't the NBA where like you acquire a player of Taylor Hall is Cal log. The NBA and it's like why we are a much better team in hockey. It is four lines and you obviously one score is not going to transform whole team. So Jack eichel is reportedly not super pleased with the losing an awful. Oh, I don't blame him that miss that situation looks miserable. So every time this happens the Jack eichel to the Boston Bruins rumors always like to get straightened up baby back wheels turning on that and I I am so here so here for the even though this like will never happen. There's a less than 2% chance. I'll give it a little chance. But but less than 2% chance this ever could actually happen equal to the Bruins, but you you astutely tweeted out Wednesday morning. Give me your best trade package for Jack eichel Chicago which prompted people to give off their best trade packages. Ron Jackson office a lot of compelling offers. I mean hitmon law, this is my favorite go figure Boston gets or Buffalo gets the Evan marinoff skier F boss gets Jacqueline Connor McDavid, and I said, I think the Prof gets more than just McDavid Michael. I think you might get puter off in there too. Well, here's the thing too. I mean Buffalo is in such disorder and disarray that you need not stabilizing presence there someone that's going to bring Authority and stop the shenanigans. So who better than that having that or not graph to correct? What's been going wrong in Buffalo for decades now, you gotta lay down long. That's what he's going to do. Right right down right now. It's a it's a character thing more than talent and that's the team needs so I continually yeah exactly they need a leader. But so that was a great one quart low lands a little does. He know that Evan and Connor are package deal. So that's a no deal in my books. That's fair. That's that's that's a good point. That's always going to send me the Buffalo wage. Thanks, Buffalo Winnipeg or Edmonton. I'm out on

The History (and Erasure) of Black Brewers
"Despite the overarching image of whiteness. When it comes to beer there is a vast history of black brewing culture. Which like so many things has been largely erased from the history books and cultural consciousness. James bennett the second dove into this for a recent peace in eater. He acknowledges the huge influences of german and irish culture in america but points out. That's not the only source when it comes to beer quoting eater. The ancestors of african americans. They were fermenters. They were really good at making their own liquor and making their own beers and also making wine from fruit says the culinary historian and writer. Michael w twitty one of our african 'isms in fact was producing all of these things and one of the reasons why we did. That was because it was related to our traditional spirituality libation twitty. Ads is the heart of african spiritual worship. He recounts seeing this firsthand on a trip to takhar village in cameroon. They pull out a big ceramic vessel full of their traditional beer. He says and even though a lot of takhar our muslim this is one of the traditional religious practices that they keep alongside islam. What beer-drinking may be nonexistent on friday. Would he notes. You better believe that at social functions to honor youth. Celebrate a marriage or the deceased in the ground. Alcohol is poured out and passed among the elders and quotes alcohol and in many cases. Beer was and is important. Spiritually and culturally to many different communities in africa throughout the ages as european colonizers began enslaving people and forcing them to work on their stolen land. The knowledge and skill sets of many enslaved black people surrounding bruin were exploited quoting again. The prevailing image of enslaved black person is that of someone laboring in the fields were being ordered around the big house but american slavery built in sustained a pretty much every aspect of this american life and that included beer again the west african societies. From which so many bodies were stolen. Were no stranger to the mechanisms of fermentation. We know that. Enslaved africans and african caribbeans were brewing beer or were cultivating hops or other grains. That would have been used in the brewing process. Says theresa mccullough of the smithsonian's national museum of american history. Black brewing skill was no secret. She adds advertisements for enslaved. People who were skilled. Brewers -absolutely wanted posters that identified fugitives as skilled brewers or otherwise involved in the brewing industry. As american as apple pie. Peter hemmings enslaved at monticello was a master brewer and quote but even if their expertise was being used to produce beer many black individuals who were free at the time. Weren't drinking much of it. Part of it was because temperance. Got rolled into the abolitionist movements. Most abolitionists were anti alcohol. Seen it as a toxic influence and a tool of the oppressor now. That's not to say that all temperance advocates were abolitionists. Far from it but most abolitionist were teetotalers. But there is also a practical angle. Bennett explains black. People were wary of being taken advantage of by white people while drunk and also simply didn't have the money or time for drinking while they were figuring out more important matters like getting an education job and securing semblance of safety in a dangerous climate then in the second half of the nineteenth century beer and cider went from being a smaller mostly at home type of operation to a profitable business largely. Thanks to the influence of german immigrants in america and of course now that it was profitable. Black brewers were shut out and being that beer was now more something to be purchased at an establishment like a saloon versus consumed at home. Black people were also often refused service. Then prohibition hits and when it was repealed with many federal regulations in place breweries were fearful of being shut down so they leaned hard into patriotic. Branding the kind of whitewashed stars and stripes apple pie type of america that is definitively white as been it says. Advertising has more to do with what we buy than most of us care to admit and by his accounts that adds up with the consumer trends that we saw throughout the second half of the twentieth century as white flight brought middle and upper middle class white people to the suburbs where they could host parties at home and had a bit of bigger budget a lot of them swapped beer for cocktails and thinking that they could get them back with a beer that had as high as cocktails beer. Companies tried to sell the white suburbanites on malt liquor but the attempt flopped most likely minutes opposes. Because it's something of an acquired taste so then a pivot happened quoting again. How did malt liquor go from garden. Party aspirated two boys in the hood levels of despair. The exact y. Is a matter of law but jane. Nicole jackson beckham diversity ambassador for the brewers association has a pretty good idea. The story i've been able to get is that there was some kind of persistent market research saying that. Urban audiences make more purchasing decisions based on. Abc and that urban audiences tend to buy for volume. She says the decision was made to market malt liquor not as an upscale product but a specifically urban products and to put it in a large vessel boom the forty and quotes
Should Ekholm Be the Bruins' Top Trade Target This Season?
"I will give you the floor to explain why Mattias ekholm is a great fit. Just thought I agree with you on pretty much most of these points. Yeah. I mean, I think you look at it even obviously the brand see some depth right now because you know, we could be in a situation where when the Bruins resume play on Thursday if Crews Lake is a barrel on healthy, you know, you could be a situation where you're another body away from a guy like, you know, Nick Woolf for Cooper's a cord jacket Sean getting calls up to be pressed juice. Service like this so not ideal from the government's perspective. But even if this whole left side was completely healthy when you had loads on Grizzly kinds of oral. I still think the proactive move for this team is to still acquire a proven top floor guy just to shore up that defense just turned it as overall security like one. There's the health risk, which you know, we remember what it was a few years ago in the Bruins played the song is in the playoffs and it was you know, Tommy Crofts and Joe Morrow and those guys like that was that was you know, garlic McEvoy. Yeah. We're trying to give it was, you know, averaging 23 minutes of ice-time mean that's the worst case scenario in terms of injuries. But also you just run the risk of you know, going into the playoffs and it's you know solid as low as on as looked, you know as promising as a moral has been you still running a whole bunch of risk, if you roll those guys out expecting them to kind of, you know, not deal with the bumps along the road with that comes with playing heavy minutes and a playoff setting against tough teams like the capitals or off. No Penguins Flyers. If you get past that, you know, the the lightning, you know, all these teams that are going to you know, bring it to you. So I think would you rather keep this defense which has been great like you can I think you can you can admit that. It's defense has exceeded expectations and they've been very good. We'll also acknowledging and being cognizant of the fact that if you want to go all in this year, you need more stability back there. So I think a guy like at home makes perfect sense of your the Bruins. I mean, he's thirty years old big body which looks like a lot of Bruins fans, right? Just thought you know, he's six four. Yeah 6 for 2:15, but he's not just also like a I wrote that he's not like a guy like maybe Brenden Dillon who the the capitals acquired last year whose, you know, six four big guy, but he's kind of a stay-at-home option. I mean not Combs a skilled defenseman back there. He's one of the best over the last couple of years at generating 5 and 5 offense, which you need like you suck. Which I didn't it's funny. I was reading your column. I didn't realize he was that high up with 515 offense until I read that that

Is the Lake Tahoe NHL tournament even going to happen?
"Let's look towards the future a little bit. Not as far ahead as the Stanley Cup, but Lake Tahoe this weird middle of the Season tournament. They're doing it Lake Tahoe Bruins flyers and blues and the golden knights long is this going to happen coz judging off the past a week? I don't know about this one sure. She doesn't like it's going to happen or if it is it's going to be some different teams in what we expect wage. Going into it was Bruins flyers and then golden knights and the Avalanche and got the blues. I don't know why I said the blues. Yeah. Yeah. It's everyone's right stuff. Yeah, it is. You're right. You're right off of busy with the blues are busy paying playing the kind of like an extra free, So but no you look at it. Right. I mean the fly is I get we should knock on wood that took over, you know, when this podcast drops. Hopefully the Bruins don't have any issues because it seems like we have another outbreak starting in Philly where Drew Justin Braun I think trapped behind choice of these people are my fantasy team. I think what gets lost in this is these people are who cares what their health? It's my fantasy team. I know it's it's a rough hit the Evan paragraph but like, yes you go. Look at Philly their home of three guys. Now where there's smoke there's fire when it comes to these things that you have to imagine this probably going to be more they already postponed one game that Philly was going to play against the capital. So after monitor that situation not just for the Flyers birth Phle knock on wood. This wasn't a case for the Bruins were affected because the Bruins played Philly just last week. So you get the commander that and then we've got this absolute shitshow of a situation now in Vegas where they already shut things down for you know over a week when they had a few guys test positive and they play that game against Anaheim they hold out a guy after a second. Turns out. I think Frank seravalli said that whoever was it was held out tested positive which like why the hell was this guy playing so I love this whole pulling people out of games Midway through like it's going to have colpitis like like what is that? Just what like that doesn't help anything that already there. They've already been there and that was a situation to like Kevin Duran had that situation with the Nets where that was a case of fact, I think he was in close contact with someone who tested positive like this is even worse cuz there was a dude who was legitimately tested positive. So this guy was walking around her standing around rather like dead. Yeah, I mean Santa tell me it's you know, I don't think that it's going to be situation where the NHL is going to be like where we're shutting everything down for like a week or two if they going to do that yet, but they've got A Sneak there, you know, the testing protocols or what-have-you whether it's you know men dating rapid testing cuz I don't know how that Vegas player maybe is tests were inconclusive how he's allowed to play if they don't have his tests in yet. They don't have those results in yet. Like would you rather be safe than sorry that situation like it would suck. It's like just off of poor testing you may turn around. It's like the Bruins didn't have pasta or something just off of Adelaide test, but rather that up and then having a situation where you could have an outbreak on your team. So yeah, I mean I listen to Lake Tahoe things only it's less than two weeks away. You've gotta either nip it in the blood in terms of what you're doing to stop these outbreaks or you can just switch the teams around because like well, Been announced that even with no fancy like all right. What are we doing? Like the why are we sending these teams out to Lake Tahoe? Here's the cool Optics of it going to change, you know the coffee break the ice. Yeah, like the decision to like risk it in a year. We're already you've done a pretty shity job. Like
Brad Marchand scores in OT, Bruins beat Rangers 3-2
"Brad Marchand scored a breakaway goal thirty six seconds into overtime giving the Bruins a three two win over the Rangers Martian says it's another example of the Bruins coming together in a game where everything didn't go right we just have that attitude were tickets other up we don't get down on one another were always you know try to help each other and we get three things together what was a mostly tight checking game was one one nine minutes into the third when unders Bjork broke through putting Boston on top but Kevin Rooney tied things up again for the Rangers to twenty two later to caress caught the winning that for Boston making thirty three saves for the Bruins the wind makes four in a row and gives them points in each of their last nine I'm while you guys

Meet Your New Favorite Holiday: Florida Craft Beer Day
"If you could invent a holiday to celebrate your favorite food or drink what would it be for dining gallagher. It's florida craft. Beer day in twenty fifteen. The clearwater resident convinced fellow craft lover and then tampa mayor. Bob buckhorn to declare february fifteenth. More craft. Beer day in tampa. I recently spoke to donny. About what makes florida's craft beer scene unique and why he says craft beer is here to stay. Why are you so passionate about craft beer. A lot of people drink beer. But you live it. Thank you for saying that. That's true and it's actually been a part of my life since two thousand seven so i actually had about five years of formal training. We'll just call it our good friend. Bud and bud is one of the biggest bill factors in the world. I mean this was a much different beer scene back than in two thousand seven. But ever since then i was inspired because i found that When i was with our friend bud my role was basically teaching people how to pair beer and food and what i found was that people were fascinated by. They take the knowledge that that we shared and they would they would go to their local And impress their friends. They would sit down and tell their wife whose probably not interested at all or could have been back then before grant. There was a things who really knows. But it's just been great in people interested in learning that stuff and so of the podcast mission was to to set up in in his league with that flip four because people related enjoy learning and so we can inspire that learning to keep going by going out of your bubble going down the street finding. What's new if you're at a restaurant you love. Try the new seasonal thing. I love talking to me bone so it's really just been a part of life for a long time no so you actually worked for budweiser. We're not just talking about drinking in your dorm room yet. Nope nickname society was actually bush before they were in bed so during that transition or the team helped layup marking planning strategy how that went on learning from big beer was critical was huge because you learn from big beer. I mean obviously became big beer for as craft. Beer continued to grow in the country. Locally around me i just saw all these little pop up and i said hey. People still love to talk about beer. I learned lot from the brewing process outta market beer. Talk about beer. How to enjoy the how to get non beer drinkers into beer. It's surprising legion. Really do with beer food and and that stuff stayed with me forever. What is craft beer. I think a lot of people who drink the bigger brands might look at it as a hipster thing. Why should we care about craft beer. Craft beer is more than just something you drink and you can look at this now as you drive down the street. There's mom and errs in embar. Owners that are brewpubs sir. Tap room's or what have you. There's families that are in brewing. There is a local economies. there's billions of dollars nationally. Hundreds of millions of dollars for just the state of florida alone. Hundred thousand jobs for floridians and nationwide. You know that number continues to grow even though we're kind of weird time but it's a community really more than than just a delicious beverage. That will you know just feeling good. Is there a difference in the taste. If you put two glasses of beer in front of me and one was a craft beer and one was a big name beer. What would i notice. What's the difference. The big name beer brews. I don't want to say generic but they really type of beer that everybody will drink right. Statistically if you're gonna put a product out on a mass scale you want it to be uniformly accepted and that's fantastic the beauty of craft beer and the thing that you can't get from a big beer you can get grasp beer are things like subtle nuances flavors of flavor diversity. A different things that that big beer just can't either monetize or they just don't want to little beer. Make say little beer craft beer making much smaller scale can experiment they can push the boundaries of what this stuff can do. They can really get get you again out of your shell on your comfort zone. You may never had a black pepper strawberry basil longer. But let me tell you. It's one of my favorite beers of ever tried things like that. You'd never get from big the. Yeah i want one now. The words black pepper strawberry basil. I'm like i will be better salad. I will drink it in a glass. It's fantastic oh that's amazing. Do you brew your own beer. I do. I've been doing now for over four and a half years ago pretty much again when we started all this stuff. I was like you know what i talk about it enough. I might as well Talk the talk and walk the walk. So i started brewing. The actually that rest of the ideas reference. It was a paleo my recipe not logger. But that's my favorite beer that i've of recruit black dampers strawberry basil three amazing flavors. That really bring out some spicy halio. set go well with just as easy to really good stuff out. That's a good tip. So i'm sure a lot of people would like to get into brewing their own beer especially as we're all home more these days. It could be a fun hobby to start in the new year. What advice do you have for beginners short. So the the internet is your friend of course part of that community that i keep referencing about craft. Beer is that not only the burs and the people that do it professionally but the hobbyists and those who do it for fun or just do to experiment are also very interested in sharing knowledge and in being helpful for the industry which munity When i say community. I'm not lying like you can go on facebook and find about one hundred groups within twenty miles of your house that you can tap into for knowledge and sourcing in recipes or how to's or or getting recommendations things like that it truly is a community but the hardest part about home bruin is simply starting. The equipment is cheap enough. The knowledge is out there that time that takes is like you said rawle home now. It's it's might be a couple of our process but from start to finish you. "Monday basically was like, you know if Patrice is Captain if if Patrice is Gavin and I'm like, oh my God and every guy every person wants to say it but I think they're giving this kind of took him to give respect to char and I think that's what their initial thing was so fine. I think it's just funny cuz like I don't think there's any chance as anyone else it wouldn't it be great if it wasn't and were like we're naming David krejci the captain or naming like, you know, Charlie McAvoy the cap not to say they don't deserve it right off like Bergeron's the obvious choice like gotcha hundred Nik Richie is going to be Cactus talk about like a backlash like like Warrior would be burned to the ground. If I if Nick Ritchie became captain of the Bruins, it's good to see the Bruins fans are already in midseason form cuz I did I think probably you were in the same boat. We did something as harmless on Monday as simply Tweed like wage Richie coil Smith and my God, you would think that I like had insulted like South Shore on Twitter because I was just bombarded with with with with salty rhetoric thrown back at me on Twitter for it. So it seems like Bruins fans are already at least most of them have the jury's already been dead. Decided in terms of what Richie's going to give this team, but we'll see I went so far as to say Richie looked good with yeah. I mean, I think it's a nice one. I said they one one so, I mean we yeah, we'll eat crow if we know we revisit this in a week when trying to games like almost over considering this how quick the preseason really is for the Bruins. But yeah, I mean Richie you also have to factor in I think one thing that I'm sure to do for you is that Craig Smith looked pretty damn good. I mean the shot is what you know, everyone knows when he's proven, you know, sniper a guy who gets a whole bunch of pucks on net but also like I was kind of surprised at how you know good his skating was like seemed like he was really good on, you know, a couple of those drills There Was You Know finishing a lot of the passes coil sending to him, but I think when you have a guy like coil who's a puck-possession guy, but he also have this guy who can operate in Rome. Face like Smith. I didn't get also maybe opens up a guy like Richie a little bit more space to you know, go down low or a throw his weight around. And again, I think that's kind of be the biggest thing for him. It's just a committing to that role because I think people were excited to see what Brett Ritchie was going to do last year early on but for a big of a guy is he is he was kind of like there was some you'd watch any video but like at the half-wall like all right, man.

"A regular seasons also the fact that there's going to be a lot of like baseball Series kind of scheduling. So it's going to be you know, the Bruins play Philly. There's a huge scrum. There's a fight there's you know late hit or something where you know words are exchanged and then they play two days later and you know, like as soon as the puck drops is going to go Haywire again. So I think it's kind of what the NHL strategy is at least for now is off in the East you have enough big mine concerned enough for just that natural kind of, you know, hate that kind of bruise between these teams that I think you're still going to get a lot of riveting matchups and then who knows down the road where I bought a whole division is going to be kind of flipped on its head is a situation where if the Bruins get to the you know, the next round of the playoffs so they playing them a police officer for the chance to go to the Stanley Cup Final do they play the naval base in the Stanley Cup Final like it could happen which that would be I think hockey like Nirvana for everyone I think Bruins and Panthers. Tend to be horrified, but everyone else is kind of like a warm but I mean if that's how you end a season then it's well worth it. I think the NHL's already doing backflips because barring off the you know them having to do something really drastic and all Canadian division up north. You still going to have like Connor McDavid and auston Matthews play each other like nine or ten times a season. So they're already popped off even in the East I still think you're going to have regardless of who the Bruins fly seems like kind of Trouble Follows ruins whenever they play and these are the competitive teams that I'll go with Philly but I think perhaps to be a lot of interesting kind of matches Diego's on so I think when it comes to competition and close to the games and results, it'll be Philly for sure cuz I think we expect that to be the one in the two teams that wanted to I think fireworks, it's Washington. I think that is the team where you're gonna have the most fireworks you have Tom Wilson, you know, you have the history there. I think that's going to be the one I remember the tweet that Poshmark put Faith. Saying that Wilson was like the best goal scorer in the NHL and we all thought he got like abducted in the in the team Hotel. So I think that they captured him by the coffee bar and the lobby. Yeah, they they got um, ladies and gentlemen, we got him, but I think that's going to be the team where you're going to see the most entertainment so to speak but again, I think you know, you're gonna have good games gets Pittsburgh. I'm very interested in what the Rangers are and you know what they're going to be..

I will also tell you this and you get like Evan you're telling me way too much you're telling me to do way too much. Well, this isn't that big of a thing but imagine this the beginning of the offseason. I'd like to mention it going into the season Connor and I will be kind of team At least on YouTube as well as you do on these podcasts on YouTube and doing stuff together there. The page is called Bruins ringside on YouTube and I would really appreciate it if you went and subscribe to it again YouTube for those who don't know it's free you just subscribe to it. And that's that subscribe to it. The more subscribers. We have the the better content you will get because we're just going to focus on that also subscribe to the clns media YouTube page. That's much bigger stuff will go there. But I really would love to get a big base of Bruins beat listeners Bruins fans on Bruins ring back so we can literally just upload videos there and kind of have like our own little world. That's what I would much much rather have. I'm hoping that that sort of starts to take shape during the year. I'd love to be able to make that like our own little world in terms of fun with that to have live Q&A is to have maybe you guys on some some episodes and on some videos or go subscribe to Bruins ringside. I promise you it is worth it go do that wage. Now even pause the podcast to go do it. So make sure to go subscribe to Bruins ringside on YouTube and see Alanis media's YouTube page as well. "You can kind of, you know, get away with it and like most teams in terms of having your bath Rossi that you kind of having an open competition for cuz you're at least still going to be you know, buoyed by having that line, you know produced the way it does that probably without crew you still going to get a bunch of points off. So I think you're allowed to look should be doing that. It's just like you need some of these guys to to get right. I mean a lot of times these rebuilding seasons is because you have so many vacancies and so many open spots for a younger player issues that you're trying to see who fits way or and you kind of doing it kind of, you know, in the middle of a season now where you've got a lease, you know pieces in place and kind of cover-ups just laws. Have you try to see who's the best fit it works out? Well that you know, if the Bruins find out that like morals a legit player should be great for them and they go into the fall, you know, Twenty-One twenty-two and you don't have to really worry on the deal on the blue line where you've got two gallons world. Then it works out great. You didn't have to like waste a year, you know, just trying to go through a revolving door sensor in that spot. So the way of Bruins are built, you know, there are a lot. I think they've they're allowed the luxury of doing something like that. It's just that two players. They're trying out in those spots need to hit on them, right? They can't be guys that are dead. You you know the tailender you still don't have anyone who's setting to that role yet. It's funny. You mentioned the whole using these younger guys looks more laid-back and I didn't click to the lausanne with the already set kind of contending lineup. And it kind of sounds like the 2014-15 and 2015-16 Bruins in the sense. Now, obviously the 14-15 Bruins..

"1st. And this is the Bruins beat on Ceylon s media. And welcome into Bruins beat on ceiling us and media. My name is Evan marinoff. Ski, I hope you guys are having a great day. Had a great Thanksgiving. Welcome to holiday season though. This is the holidays Christmas lights start to go up Hanukkah celebrated or whatever holiday you guys celebrate whether it be Christmas Hannukah Kwanzaa. I don't know celebrate anything, but that is this time of year and that is crazy. And I'm not going to say it. I'm not going to say it. I will say it. This season does not feel the same without hockey. I'll say it. I'll say no problem saying that unfortunately that the season is not the same without without hockey doesn't make a lot of sense doesn't feel like home anything. Typically, you know, you have the Black Friday Bruins game the Bruins always have a game on like December 23rd at home usually or December 22nd at home and they always like dominate right before Christmas and not great. But that obviously probably will not be happening this year. And that's and it's weird. It's I I just can't wrap my head around it the fact that there's just like, you know, nothing going on. So in this episode Conor Ryan and I get into the athletic did power rankings for the future and the Bruins did not do so well on that part right now. The athletic is not the end-all-be-all but they they did kind of spark some conversation. So Connor and I had it and then we also we had a living tribute to Johnny wage. Chuck as as he retired last week. So before we get to the episode NFL football continues on as always which has a few surprise teams at the top of the standings and you might not be at a game this year, but you can still be on a action had.

I think that's the biggest offseason storyline a year off things. Are you considering? I don't think we've had anything else really going on. I think yeah, you you're getting your freedom back is as far away most important thing. I think you listeners are are paying attention to you now, so I thought I think know it's funny. I actually got a Facebook message from from someone saying I hope you're doing well. You know, hope you're hanging in there. I'm like, thanks man. I got out today, but really appreciate it. So everyone was following it was all over the years, but I'm out. I'm out. Thank God back home. So lucky me and lucky World cuz you guys can see more of me graduations Jack. Jack or eight this Bruins beat and if you guys haven't noticed there's not much going on in the Bruins world of late and by much I mean like nothing going on at all. As after we got past the reverse Retro Jerseys, it's just been a Barren Wasteland who we should have known that was going to be the last little nugget of info we were going to get for probably a month. Now the Bruins have been tweeting out pictures of old players and mustaches for like what feels like weeks now cuz there's just there's not much going on. It's funny. I always text you and I'm always like if the NHL could have a fourth of the excitement of the of the NBA offseason r v Out Shake anything close to that. I mean, imagine if we were Celtics writers or podcasters or or or there's so much there's so much and the with Bruins with the NHL there's there's none of that none of that. There's no super teams. There's no big, you know, the free-agent stuff goes away and like a week, you know, there's no real drama with it, you know, Torey Krug signs at the blues at like, you know, 9:00 on a Friday night. Like it's just how it goes, but it's just it's annoying cuz I would love for them. Be a little bit more fireworks, but but.

He was probably like beating his like his car like hitting it like like hitting his ear buds furiously tweeting it both of us that it was the Jets, right? We heard you we heard you see if it's a thing too is that game is back in January which now January 2020 literally feels like friggin like January 2014 this point like it feels so friggin long ago that you don't like I now so lose track of the time the Bruins should be like briefing. And half weeks into their season and this was a normal year. Yeah, like oh you probably called up at this point already like we'd have just other stuff to talk about but alas it is incredible to think back to that and it's like, how is this year? Yeah, like really like that was that happened this year? I mean, it just doesn't make sense to me through everything. We've been through this year and it is sad. I always say it's bad when getting nostalgic about like a few months back. Yeah. They're like a few years back cuz to me, I mean that's tough stuff seems forever ago and you hope you do hope and one of the things obviously that there's a million things. I hope come back like, you know going out to eat normally without masks and sitting near people and going to bars, you know Club life and all that stuff comes back but one of the fun things I do hopes, I think this will at some point come back is going into locker rooms and talking to players and stuff and the moms trip thing was a perfect example of what month. That stuff is so fun and essential and just you know good for everyone and it says you get talk to these bombs who are want to talk about their sons and you're having fun and all that. So I thought that was a very fun moment of the Year. There. Were there any other moments we haven't touched on that that stick out to you just think let's see. There's a couple in terms of the best fight of the it had two event David krejci fighting Joe pavelski, man when that happened. Yes, like it wasn't like, you know, I think the best fight off cos was it a charger and that was like a a retro like all the time fight..

"It's funny. I mean you remember going into last season a lot of us myself included thought they were going to have some somewhat of a Stanley Cup hangover, you know, the season ended in late June or mid-june and then they start on the road. They start out west they Dallas and they played a bunch of those teams and remember thinking like, oh, they're going to start out slow. The questions are going to start is team ready. They came out firing like they came out hot first two months and then I think it was around like end of November December's you said when I got a little bit slower, but they never had a bad stretch. They were good the whole season they overcame injury issues Rask was spectacular halak was great behind him like a I mean, they look like a team on a mission. Like that was a whole thing during the year like that look like a team on a mission to get back to the Stanley Cup Final and again, we can debate whether or not that they would have thought. Debate in a regular season, you know, if they might have gone back if the light maybe the lightning joke in the first round again, maybe you know things are different. Maybe Nick Ritchie find some chemistry with someone maybe an alternative Universe Richie is like the Bruins hero in the the regular version of the 2019 season 20 play-offs, but I want to go through some fun moments because there were a lot of Great Moments I think from from this run off and we can kind of go back and forth. One of my favorite moments. I would say from this season or from the one of the best moments from the Bruins season was it was a December game might be December 1st against Montreal in the garden place was packed people were jumping they were you know, they were struggling a tiny bit but it wasn't that bad. They were they were still really good and took a shock was off to a hot start on the season and Montreal knows that and they were hitting them all game. They were physical with them. That was the mo on him like Get Physical with him and I forget what. It was dead. But Midway through the game he comes down and carry price and just lasers a slapshot right right over price from a crazy angle. I remember seeing that goal in saying that might be the best goal scorer this year as that game. Like I always remember it cuz I think it was around maybe the I want to say is around the big lake point of the game maybe like early third but don't think it was that way. But whenever he hath are we scored that goal already like legitimate like a minute before that happened like the apostle was getting knocked around quite a bit in the game as you said, but other than that, there wasn't a lot of highlights from the game..

I'm not much try to survive during these covid-19 you were saying before we started recording that there's a spike in Massachusetts here in in the base state is a little bit of a spike in cases dead. Um and great. Yeah not great. Not the not the best thing in the world. They shut down hockey recently. They shut down ranks at least which is unfortunate to see you don't want you don't want that to happen often wants that to happen the NHL sort of keeps moving the goalposts back. You can tell January 1st might not be the date know and was even worse and Steve bucknor about this in the app like today or or Sunday or Monday, whatever it was when he wrote it, you know, all we have right now boss has the Patriots nobody else, you know, the snow off Red Sox. No Bruins. Nope. And so all we have in Boston is the Patriots and that's sucks..

"I don't think like there hasn't been many good ones. I mean Craigslist, it's a really Loop name is Craig Smith and Mac Grizzly that is it and you mentioned power play quarterback and waiting now touring crew has gone posting cryptic messages on his Instagram story post, you know, the the the shot of his st. Louis Blues practice jersey with the eyeball emojis and and and all that stuff. It's there's definitely some some some animosity towards Bruins upper management feels like birth. Especially I think there definitely is and I think it's warranted. I think that the way is if the way they treated crew is not the way you treat a beloved athlete not in the locker room and in the summer from everything I've heard about the locker room that like grooves the guy you know Char is the silent leader Bergeron's the one who's going to speak up when you need to hear it. But the guy who kind of instill is the camaraderie and like Iraq was a rather famous Bruins camaraderie that like everyone's like logged I proceeded. I mean you saw with the press conference after they got eliminated. Everyone was downright too strong as you as almost teams are but they it seemed to hit them particularly harder and I think that was from my understanding very crude driven that everyone loved crew crew was the guy who's got the boys together and I think just not even giving him in offer a real offer is is not the way you want to handle a Superstars. I think the guys in the locker room to go. Well what the fuck's happen in upstairs and I think other free agents are going to look at that wage. J I mean, you know, don't get me wrong money always trumps all but if you're between a few teams and you're like well fucking I mean they threw got on his ass and he was a HomeTown Boy Like Home Grown. Hometown boy but homegrown and and they they didn't care about him. So why would they care about being the future? Yeah. I mean I look at that and I remember when it happened, I mean we knew crew was probably off on just the way that the talks had been and you know, what crew was saying, I mean just clearly pissed and what Sweeney was saying which was a lot of nothing and a lot of like, we're just trying to move on with this but saved Louis seemed so off the board. I remember in his press conference that he signed they were like, you know say Lucifer cars. He's like no, no not until today when they call with an offer and I was just thinking like with a pretty big move to be like, oh mercy over Boston to Saint Louis, you know today, you know, I'm just going to do it and it was so odd to me know I'm sure they get it. I'm sure they cover their base wage. Yeah, but like if the Bruins offer was at 6 6 and 1/2 and they pulled it and they pulled it.

"I mean, he's all offense and like no defense at all. But if you want to pitch it to me because they don't have any better options that you know, you put them with a dog. I like Kalo and maybe a balances out a little bit. I don't really buy that but you can pitch it to me, right that's better than what the game plan is right now, which is you know, you know, Patrice Bergeron's 35 do creatures 34. Yeah, we're a better team as we roll out her whole back and I and Jacobs Borel and people like, well you have to do that eventually. It's like well, yeah you do that eventually when either those guys are attracted and you can take a hit and you're in a bridge you or Bergeron is 31 and create she is thirty and you can you have four or five years down the road of what that core wage now is not the time to do that. So I really don't get what the game plan is. And again, this news can change. I can check my phone as we're done with this podcast and maybe they trade for a guy like Martinez or Schmidt or something like that. But right now I mean all these all have been doing today is checking my phone and seeing guys on good value deals get signed as the Bruins not doing anything. That's funny. I see these good value deals I say is it the Bruins is the birth. You know, we all have Draeger's tween notifications on and appear LeBron and everyone Rose the Bruins. I know it's the Canadians are oh, what's the Sabres or oh, it's the Flyers and and you know, it's funny. It's that time of year where you check your phone all the time, but you also mentioned the Vegas aspect. So we're recording this Monday night. It's 7:53 right now, as I said that so the the golden knights just signed Alex pietrangelo seven years eight point five million per year. I believe twenty-eight I think eight point eight eight point eight million. It's a stinky contract. I mean really not great. That is a just giving up a first-round picks later down the line, but now Vegas has to trade off somebody they have to free up cap space and the the the feeling is it will be someone like Alec Martinez could do four million next year could solve bloodshot defenseman or Nate Schmidt who's dude 5.8 million, I believe per year until twenty twenty-five twenty-six, which name? Is on a contract that excites me much. It should really excite anybody. It's not a good contract. That is a lot of money for someone like Nate Schmidt. But but they're letting their definite top for guys. I'm more so if you had if you have to pick between the two cuz I think that is the obvious move. The Bruins should make for one of those two. I think the easy move is Alec Martinez, you know, she cuz you know, someone said this on Twitter, I forget who it was I I don't mean to, you know, take their opinion, but I thought it was good one. And the sense that you don't know where this team is going to be any year Martinez is a guy in a year get a year out of them in your top for veteran guy proven winner scored those that huge Cup winner, which was like insane. I mean, it doesn't like doesn't mean he's unbelievable. But you know, that was a crazy..

"So I think Arizona obviously the fact that they lost a 2020 second-round pick and they lost a 2021 first-round pick because of their you know their violations with the draft and the things, you know scouting our way I figure out which part of it is in terms of what the actual fine print. What is what they lost to pick up we're doing some dip should stuff. So obviously going to be looking at recouping pics. So maybe it's 20 21 first month. Um, you know, they probably won't cost control guys. So, you know, maybe it's a Buick or something like that or whose only under contract for one point six million. So those are kind of a pieces that stand out but The cost may not be too bad if you want to take in that whole contract. But if you're the Bruins, I don't know you want to put that on your books for a guy who is 29 had a lot of really really good years, but still a lot of risk, you know, like a slam-dunk a guy that you want to be giving eight, you know, 8.25 million a year to 6.5. That'd be yeah, you know at that point. He's interesting enough and is a good fit enough with this team that you'd be willing to see how it works out. But 8.25 a lot. I don't know how Arizona gets this contract off their books. I don't mean, I think you have to only you know, have to eat some of it and let the team you trade him to eat off the majority but you gotta eat some of it because that deal does not look good. I mean that's you know again, I don't mind the player. I think he's I think he's solid he's good, but not worth that amount of money. And again if he came to the Bruins and he's making 8.25, you know, damn well in a few years from McEvoy has to negotiate his next big deal to be like if he's dead. 8.25 I'm making nine or ten because that's sort of the potential. We see McAvoy hitting so you screw yourself over that you screw yourself with the McEvoy negotiations. I don't think you want to touch is Oliver ekman-larsson deal, but I will say It's nice to see the bruise it on some big trades. It's nice to see them kicking tires on making a legit big team changing roster shake-up move. And so we'll get into that right now. That is the right move. That is the right not the actual medicine but being in on that the right move, but I don't know who you would go need for words. You need to forward for that because we both said on defense you can go out and sign a Brandon deal on a TJ brodia. Maybe a Travis hammock. I mean always a right shot defenseman, but you go out and sign a cheaper off top for mid-level defenseman. You don't have to give everything to a franchise defenseman per se right on offense top six guys. Who do you like?.
