"Kyle rittenhouse found not guilty of all charges by Josiah Bates. Kyle rittenhouse, the teenager who killed two people during demonstrations last year in Kenosha Wisconsin, was found not guilty on all charges Friday. Rittenhouse had originally faced 6 charges, but on November 15th, the day before deliberations began, judge Bruce Schroeder dismissed a gun possession charge against rittenhouse, the least serious charge he faced after rittenhouse's defense team argued that the law banning miners from possessing weapons only applied to short barreled guns, not to the rifle rittenhouse used. Rittenhouse now 18 was 17 at the time of the shootings. The jury of 7 women and 5 men deliberated more than three full days, but ultimately agreed with the defense that rittenhouse was acting in self defense. Rittenhouse broke down in tears of relief as the verdict was read. On August 25th, 2020, rittenhouse traveled across state lines from his home in Illinois to Kenosha amid unrest in the city over the shooting two days earlier of Jacob Blake, a black man who was shot in paralyzed after an altercation with police officers. No charges were filed against the officers involved in Blake's shooting. Rittenhouse's intention, according to his defense team, was to protect the city from rioting and to provide medical assistance to demonstrators. Rittenhouse had received some first aid and CPR training as part of a life guard job he held. However, the owner of a car dealership that rittenhouse was allegedly trying to protect that night. Testified during the trial that he had not asked for help. Video footage and photographs from the night of the shootings showed rittenhouse walking the streets with a military style semi automatic rifle, and prosecutors argued that rittenhouse's actions amounted to provocation and led to the violence that resulted in the fatal shootings of Joseph rosenbaum 36 and Anthony huber 26 and to the wounding of gage gross crus 27. During his testimony, gross crude acknowledged confronting rittenhouse after rosenbaum had been shot, and he said his own weapon was aimed at rittenhouse at one point. In closing arguments, prosecutor Thomas binger said that when rittenhouse shot gross groots in the bicep, gross Cruz's mangled arm accidentally allowed the Glock to point toward rittenhouse..

Judge Schroeder Continues To Raise Eyebrows During the Rittenhouse Trial
"The defense team for Kyle rittenhouse is requesting a mistrial. Based on this controversial release of the drone footage, the prosecution had access to a clear quality drone video that showed Kyle rittenhouse running for his life being chased by this lunatic, the convicted pedophile. And the prosecution allegedly withheld that video from the defense team, there were question a mistrial as a result, and this judge, he just seems fired up. Here's judge Bruce Schroeder yesterday railing about the distorted way the media has covered the cow rittenhouse trial. When I talked about problems with the media when this trial started, that's we're there in part. How did not fully put in part because of grossly irresponsible handling of what comes out of this trial? I will tell you this. And I'm going to think long and hard about life, television, betrayal, again, next time. I don't know. I've always been a firm believer in it because I think the people should be able to see what's going on, but what I see what's being done is really quite frightening. Frightening that's the right word for it. Hey, judge, I have a news flash for you. "Kyle rittenhouse's homicide trial is wrapping up in Kenosha Wisconsin Judge Bruce Schroeder Schrader rather has become the center of one of the nation's most watched cases careen Hess from Wisconsin public radio has more At 75 years old Bruce Schrader is Wisconsin's longest serving circuit court judge He has a well earned reputation of being no nonsense on the bench But also approachable He focuses a lot on lunch He tells a lot of stories sometimes there are about his wife sometimes they're about the law You know I always give a little speech first About well they're often about me And I'm going to make this one about me too But the nation got to see another side this week the law purest Many people wondered if Schroeder crossed the line with his repeated angry exchanges with lead prosecutor Thomas binger Brazen with me Those scoldings have contributed to concerns about his fairness This case has been controversial from the start The defendant Kyle rittenhouse is charged with several felonies including homicide for fatally shooting two people and wounding a third During a chaotic night of protests against police brutality Rittenhouse is maintained He was forced to shoot to protect himself Schrader made controversial pretrial decisions to not allow the three people shot to be called victims At the same time he concluded they could be referred to as rioters looters and arsonists during closing arguments This decision contributed to the view the trader is biased This is a case that brings to the fore a lot of matter to public concern Gun right The use of force by police officers and it makes sense that people are paying attention than to what's happening in the courtroom and the manner in which conversations are occurring That's Cecilia klingel a law professor at UW Madison She says judges and attorneys argue a lot and during trials there are theatrics as a judge Schroeder has the right to rule as he chooses Daniel Adams is a former Milwaukee county assistant district attorney He says media and others have mistaken both the defense and the state to be on equal ground But that's not how the legal system works The defense is right must be protected The judge is the ultimate protector of someone's individual rights to a fair trial and due process So if it appears that there's any tilt it's for a good reason But some legal experts wonder if that protection has gone too far Jeffrey Schwartz was a judge in Miami dade county for more than a decade He says a prosecution has made missteps over the last two weeks but he's critical of Schroeder's conduct I think he was wrong on a number of decisions that he made Schwartz now teaches law at western Michigan university He thinks I've written houses acquitted It will be because of Schrader's decisions He scares you to reconsider them I think was prideful So I have some real problems with this judge and the way that he has done things He's just basically to me kind of a loose cannon Closing arguments in the trial are expected Monday For NPR news I'm chlorine Hess in Kenosha Wisconsin An international team of activists and online researchers has been tracking false and misleading claims about climate change in real time while world leaders meet at the high stakes UN climate conference in Glasgow NPR's tech correspondent Shannon Bond got a look inside their social media worm For the past two weeks Sean buchan has started each day at his computer in Barcelona tracking narratives about the climate summit known as cop 26 Like this one We had this story that emerged where they were using diesel generators to power a lot of the electric cars that were shipping people to and from Glasgow That isn't true The cars were being recharged by generators burning lower emission vegetable oil But you know that was subtly left out of the information when it was tweeted or posted and it makes it seem like the whole cop 26 is running on diesel It's not false but it is highly misleading Buck and as an analyst at stop funding heat a British climate advocacy group He's part of a team monitoring social media during the summit Coordinated by Jenny Kang of the institute for strategic dialog in London Its long studied online extremism and terrorism And king sees a lot of similarities in the climate claims she's now tracking Climate is being co opted into this universe of anti government sentiment It's being weaponized by groups that have extremist or conspiracist affiliations They are spreading messages across social media platforms and those communities are more and more coexisting and cross pollinating across both mainstream and fringe platforms So king and her partners built a set of dashboards to monitor Facebook Twitter and other websites They're concerned was that climate deniers and conspiracists alike would create narratives that risked undermining the summit negotiations That happened in 2009 when climate deniers used hacked emails from scientists to fuel doubts ahead of another UN summit In a manufactured scandal known as climate gate King says her team has created an early warning system to prevent something like that from happening again What we have built is the infrastructure to look at the emergence of new narratives and of influence and impact across social media in real time King sends out a daily email bulletin about the narratives gaining the most traction to hundreds of subscribers Climate organizations media outlets scientists and policymakers She says before the summit started she wondered whether she'd mainly see attacks on specific topics under negotiation like carbon markets or curbing methane emissions Instead climate has absolutely become part of the culture wars She says the past two weeks have illustrated how climate is part of a larger universe of doubt and mistrust that has only been accelerated by the pandemic Many of the influencers the group has been tracking our longtime climate deniers Some are linked to the fossil fuel industry An increasingly they include figures who post all kinds of hoaxes and conspiracies So now those who've long claimed that climate change is a pretext for government overreach are pointing to similar falsehoods about COVID lockdowns They're both framed as an excuse to strip people of their freedom Language around things like climate lockdown is bleeding into spaces that were formed around anti vax sentiment or around QAnon affiliated arguments So these are not communities that were particularly interested or dedicated to climate to begin with but they have found a way to connect those other worldviews or ideologies with fear about the future of climate change response When climate falsehoods become embedded in a web of larger conspiracies that makes them harder to fight And it could hamper even more the world's ability to take big bold action on a global crisis Shannon Bond NPR news This is NPR news.

Judge Bruce Schroeder Holds the Line in Kyle Rittenhouse Trial
"Kyle rittenhouse is on trial and it's becoming the number one news story in the country. Largely because of this judge and the fact that Kyle took the stand, it's a risk, but just kind of looking at the tea leaves. All they have to all they have to do, the Kyle rittenhouse team is win over one juror. They have to win over one juror that will not be able to live with themselves for locking up Kyle rittenhouse, and putting him in jail. Let's go to cut 44, which was not covered in the activist press. Now mind you, the drive bys a CNN and MSNBC and all the major news outlets they did not cover the rittenhouse trial nearly at all until today, as soon as Kyle rittenhouse took the stand, they pounced. And they also got introduced to this judge who has been admonishing the prosecution. And you can kind of tell this judge is really fed up with what's going on. And that's what a judge is supposed to do. A judge is supposed to use practical judgment prudence and wisdom. Wearing his black cloak, hopefully to have no bias and no prejudice, look at the merits of the case and say, wait a second. You can indict a hand sandwich. What are you doing here? And you could tell the judge has been poking the prosecution at every corner. The judge has been pushing back hold on. That's not allowed. That's not a lot. That's what a judge is supposed to do. A judge is not supposed to be a rubber stamp or a yes man for the state or the prosecution. This is an important thing that we talked about the other day as far as how our justice system is designed. Is that prosecutors are supposed to be independent of judges and vice versa? Judges are supposed to be the balance between the citizens, people that are going to be put on trial and the prosecution of people that do the trials. The state, the government versus the people. And what we see in the Kyle rittenhouse drama, make no mistake. If Kyle rittenhouse would have been a BLM incorporated activist, and if he would have shot a Trump supporter outside of a Trump rally, that none of this would be an issue. They would say they deserve it, and you know what's my justification for that? Can someone possibly explain to me why lieutenant Michael bird got off for shooting Ashley babbitt? But Kyle rittenhouse has to go through this entire saga for shooting a child rapist in an antifa person trying to

We need the same results. Justice for Dante right, justice for also. Oh, we need the same results. We have cameras of the jury. That is the illegal what he is doing. May we owe his memory always be a blessing. It's ridiculous, how we have to put up with this charade for a couple years. And meanwhile, his nephew is threatening jurors in Kenosha. What I want to just say, though, that there is an unexpected hero. And that is the judge, Bruce Schroeder, he is a true wisconsinite, and he is pushing back against this aggressive prosecution that is unfairly trying to frame the case into something that it isn't. So let's go one by one. Let's go to 78, the judge is scolding the prosecution. By the way, where were judges like this standing up against election fraud? Where were judges like this standing up against the balloting issues? Where were judges like the standing up? Against any of the abuses of power we've seen, where are the judges like this that stood up against the Pfizer Warren app Warren application to spy on Donald Trump? This is how judges are supposed to work when the prosecution acts reckless and ballistic. Play cut 78. Why would you think that that made it okay for you without any advanced notice to bring this matter before the jury? You are already I was astonished. When you began your examination by commenting on the defendant's post arrest, silence. That's basic law. It's been basic law in this country for 40 years, 50 years. I have no idea why you would do something like that. And it gives well, I'll leave it at that. So I don't know what you're up to. Then cut 80 the judge continues by saying the prosecution, this is not permitted. This judge is how every judge in the country needs to be about standing up for the rule of law, standing up for due process, standing up for the constitution. Play cut 80. To what has already been introduced. The problem is, this is a grave constitutional violation for you to talk about the defendants, silence, and that is, and you're right. You're right on the you're right on the borderline. And you may, you may be over. But it better stop. Understood. This is I can't think of the case that an initial case on it, but this is not permitted. All right. Yes, did you already come in please? This judge dismissed the jury twice to scold the prosecution for crossing constitutional barriers and limits regarding Kyle rittenhouse's waving of his Fifth Amendment rights and also the line of questioning and not submitting basically the topics or the subjects that he was going to cross examine Kyle rittenhouse with. So let's play some of Kyle rittenhouse's testimony. So Kyle rittenhouse took the stand that is a huge risk. Now the only I could see positive wrinkle. I think Kyle's doing fine. He's a young guy, okay? He's a young man, and that is a tough situation. He's no. He knows he's on national TV being grilled by this jerk, but the only positive, remember, it doesn't matter necessarily how well you answer every question, what matters is can you win over one juror? And I think, again, I'm not saying this is wise, but I think actually I should I should think deeply about that. Because I'm constantly struggling. The defense is bet. Let me just do this. The defense's bet is that in today's America, this this decision, this case was not going to be decided on technical law. That instead, they need to win over one juror that says they don't want to put the young man Kyle rittenhouse, who is largely clueless around types of ammo and places and locations in jail. I believe that was the defense's thinking. Kyle rittenhouse explains cut 70 he breaks down when he is recounting how he got quartered by three men while trying to flee the conflict. I think that him crying is going to help him. I think the jury is going to see that. They saw that they say, this is not a murderer. This is a kid who defended himself. Play cut 70..
