"Welcome back, rich vow that's here with you. So many things I want to talk about. But the folks in these Palestinian chanted no more Joe ahead of Trump's arrival, which I think is kind of funny. And the folks in Seattle are reversing course on defunding the police as crime is literally ravaging locals and it's a big crisis. This is Fox News reporting that Seattle residents Victoria beach and Eli hocher, as well as Jonathan Cho, said that police shortages have left their city and Dire Straits in the aftermath of these officials and anti law enforcement activists and their rhetoric. Homicides listen to this homicides in Seattle have skyrocketed by 24% while motor vehicle theft has climbed by 30% in the city year over year. Overall crime is up almost 5%. The mayor, Bruce harrell, pushed for increased police presence to curb the issue, and he did that just when yesterday, it looks like it's when he did it. Saying, we need an immediate action. We need innovation to respond to our public safety issues. Seattle saw a 4% rise in reported crime last year and with the mayor saying we need more officers to address our staffing crisis. So isn't that interesting how a couple of years ago it was like defund the police. If you have to hide your uniform, you're persona non grata, you did everything wrong. And now not so much when you're getting robbed

And what I would like to see happen is just action. Now both Seattle mayor Bruce harrell and governor Jay inslee have said these unlawful and cabinets on state right of ways are unacceptable and they have both called for urgent action to clear them. "One year since Seattle city mayor Bruce harrell took office in that time shootings in Seattle spike 23%. Komal fours Chris Daniel sat down with mayor harrell to ask him about the rise in crime. Do you believe that Seattle is safer one year later? I do. The eye test though is one thing is you know the data is another and according to the city's own data it shows the crime is up in many sectors and particular homicides, motor vehicle theft, property crime, December numbers are not in, but it was trending in the wrong direction, shootings are up 23%. That's the highest in a decade in the city of Seattle. So what do you account for for that? So I think you have old data. It's the new data. That's straight from the SPD. Showing a massive spike here in the last year. I think if your question is, how do I feel about it, how I feel about it is that we need to do better. That's how I feel about it. And again, if you look at the budget that I proposed, many of the things that I was successful in getting through the city council, I think that we will head in the right direction with our recruiting strategy with our community based strategies, even with our educational components. And even our park strategies, we have, I think, a holistic approach to our public safety. Come a force speaking with Seattle mayor Bruce harrell. Seattle public schools facing big budget cuts, but as northwest news radios John libertini reports, that could come at the expense of school bus service. The quality of school bus service has improved dramatically, but chief operations officer Fred Podesta says it's expensive. Transportation is an area where chronically the districts expenses have exceeded our state funding. The state covers less than half of the $52 million cost. About $7 million. Doctor Marni Campbell, executive director of operations, wants to cut and consolidate bus routes. We might get 5 more kids for Busan elementary school. That might aggregate to 20 buses. But there's also talk of adding a third start time to the school day. Moving to three start times, we all know it's really a schooling issue, right? This changes just about everything about school. Bus trip times for elementary schoolers, the majority of school bus riders would increase from 45 minutes to almost an hour. But these are just ideas. There's nothing yet in writing.
