Chelsea and Tottenham battle to keep their flatlining seasons alive

"Wednesday three o'clock. This is probably the one that you'll be circling for your mid week slate, you be circling Chelsea and Spurs someone is really gonna feel bad about themselves. When this once, I know will it be you. Recent history will tell you. Yeah. Probably the bridge too. Yeah. Typically, not fared well there. Yeah. I wouldn't I wouldn't like to actually call this one. 'cause I'm sure there's a little bit of residuals from the weekend that will impact this game two and boy Tottenham they just they keep getting themselves to the edge, and they just refuse to take that next step. They just can't do it. I don't know what it is got dashed like they did in a year where Burnley has not been Burnley like the, you know, sound defensively nine there were a little bit more resurgent known in the last couple of months. Did you watch any of the Tottenham Burlingame? I only saw highlight because there were two refereeing decisions that came under the microscope in this. It was Mike dean, of course, it was obviously. But there was the one that led to Burnley's first goal when they ruled it out a play on for Tongan gave Burnley corner that was a tough one even on the replay. I mean, it was definitely gone on the Bernie prayers. It was a goal kick. It set here and argue for an hour about handballs on the. That one didn't out on Burnley should be Tommy defend the corner web, though, did you know, no, they didn't. And then the one that like people want to use this as okay, we're even now because Danny rose took the throw in five yards further up field, and where it should have been. No, that's what we're going to start. The way will be like they were agrees of wrong and getting a corner kick off which the opposition scores. Getting that decision wrong and the stealing of yards from throwing which as. Like, there's I don't even know what the rule is. It's just whatever the linesmen referee goes back it. I mean, they're always step stolen north in ever happens from where it should of like booing, Danny rose every time he touch the ball. You throw in faith. The eight you will tell you. What though when I saw Harry Kane and the team sheet, I was like really is this necessary we've seen this before. But then he goes out plays. The goal is scored it not as I touch his second touch was amazing incredible. For just see how he's going to respond to that. No. I I just think with lingered and an and Kane who I am not having a go at medical professionals. I'm just saying what is the Rocher especially to when you're in the Champions League against Bruce Dortmund three-goal advantage or not. I don't care like you got to play your best team for that game. You've got Chelsea mid week, which is more important. I think than Burnley. I don't know. I was I was a little bit surprised to see his name on there. Now, they will have a little bit of a break out of the FA Cup, obviously. But yet I'm trying to just kind of enjoy Tottenham for what it is right now, they're not going to win the league. They're probably still going to like top four is not set in stone, obviously. But I feel good about the seven per China champion grow. No, right. Like one enjoy the. Champions League just in. This is a big win against Chelsea like just enjoy life showing your life as a Spurs. Yeah. Try not to let that Burnley game ruined. My my day it ruined several hours afterwards. But you move on because this season is what it is. And like try to enjoy this

We all of us together. Collectively we needed that? Because all we had really was a lot of transfer talk about him going to Chelsea not much action to talk about. And that was good. This has been so much on certainty with him. And that's just a thing that we have not of all the things that we've talked about with him over the last two years uncertainty has not been one of them. Hopefully, you know, maybe that that kind of gets back and Lucienne FARs rotation in at least some way because we do want him to continue even though he's you know, he's not a Bruce Dortmund player really going forward after the season. But we would like him to keep playing there for now just to continue to improve and progress as he has like we always say these guys have to play they have to play. You know, Fulham are going to have to attack. There's a gung ho attitude about some of the players that they have United obviously will be away from home. That means they'll they'll sit back just that little bit. And then they'll spring that counter with the Fosse white players that they have I don't know. This could be a good one. She's was constantly visiting Christian when our times and Germany over the last few years, I wonder with him having moved from Bruce Dortmund to to Chelsea, you know, watching him kind of come up as Bruce Dorton player was so exciting to see this young American thriving like that at such a prominent club, and he's playing in the Champions League in its you're excited to see it even as somebody who doesn't root for Bruce Dorfman, and then you know, Jaden Sancho emergence. Did you feel like prolific had to get out of their head? He pretty much plateaued at Dortmund. And it was just, you know, his time was basically up at that club. I think he wanted to make a move this next summer for a while. And that was before the emergence of Sancho because the mere fact that politic's contract went through the summer of twenty twenty suggests that he expected to be sold a year out. From that. Nobody signs a contract in Europe thinking they're going to play out the entirety of their contract. And so the timing of that the second he signed that. And we knew it was for twenty twenty. You could have predicted this next summer is when he was planning expecting to make a move. Yeah. The clock certainly ticking up one now I got excited by this move. I can see the pros and cons of it. Because of Chelsea's passed with with with younger players on signing players that don't play even older players. But obviously, this is a different position moneywise. What interests me is the club in general and the direction it's going creates an opportunity for Christian pulisic because I can't see hazard being he's twenty eight. I can't see him being a Chelsea next season. I think he will make that move on. I think Pulitzer could could now, and I gotta be careful the way I phrased that take the reins creatively in that side. I see an opportunity that excites me. You've got the transfer by you've also got a chairman that may not be involved in the twelve very much longer which may limit the their their spending power because of his visa do. Do you see the same opportunity for me that I see for Pulitzer to come in? And not just be a bit part player. Be an actual Estar a creative star in the site. Oh, yeah. I I mean, if he's not I mean, he's got to have the MVP that he becomes a star at Chelsea otherwise. What are you doing? Yeah. Because he's at Dortmund a team that is on track to win the Bundesliga. They is very much alive and Champions League that there aren't too many places to go up from Dortmund to know..

"So if you think you're a top five pick, if that's what you've been advised is he's tough, I pick. Yeah, it's my number one. If if a team that goes number one doesn't need a quarterback there. A lot of teams like you use a Nick Bosa who or who will invest in Nick boat. Every team needs a Nick Bosa. He's that special player. Have you seen him playing Ohio State? It's it's his speed, his yanked NF. We're looking at the top five potential draft teams right now in the NFL you got teams like the raiders. He got teams like the Niners. You got teams like even era Zona that could definitely use. As a defensive line player like somebody who can disrupt the backfield, somebody who can get to the quarterback and make life miserable. We all know that pass. Rushers are premium in the NFL it's it's really never been better to be a pass rusher my opinion. Would you agree with that? Oh, money was like, oh, absolutely. I mean, other than quarterback pass, rushers are viewed as like the second most sold. They absolutely crucial. Yeah. So moving on, it's necessary. We'll say, yeah. So yeah, Nick Bosa will see. Sounds like he's done it Ohio State. I'm sure the fans will be a little upset about that, but you know, it is what it is. So moving on the United States women's national team, they played tonight and they will play here in the in the Gold Cup final. They'll be playing against Canada and. It's it's funny because. The Concha calf region is just not very competitive and women's soccer. We're talking about USA the women scoring eighteen goals and giving up none. Hey, just cruise in their group candidate is the same seventeen goals. One against it should be an interesting game. We know Canada is a tough opponent for the United States. It's one of the better teams in the world. Both these teams are are up there in terms of favorites of winning the World Cup next summer in the women's game. So it will be it will be interesting to see that game is at five o'clock Pacific time tonight. It will be interesting to see. I think US Louis US women are playing really well right now, but this should be a solid game last night. Also, we had the US men's national team. They squared off against Peru in a friendly match. So. It was a solid game by the US as they draw one one, the stats will show you that they were dominated and there were they were dominated for parts of that game as Peru had possession. They had more attempts on goal, but the US of course, has been fielding very young teams. They are looking to give their their young players experience or not really looking to give a whole lot of minutes too. Some of the older guys. So with that being said, they did score. I in the game. They almost one. It was a nice school by Josh sergeant as he continues his ascension through US soccer, still a very, very young player. He, he's been a guy who has killed it on the international stage at the youth levels, and now he's getting his chance to be. Somebody who can be a focal point for the United States men's national team going forward. As we know they missed the World Cup and they do need some players just step up. They have some young players around the world who are getting a chance, suppose some big clubs. Of course, he's on word of Bremen over in Germany. He's only eighteen years old. He might be the next player other than Christian pulisic. As we already know the Bruce Dortmund man, we already know that he is the US the current US best player, but he does need other players tell them out. So Josh sergeant, he's somebody who could be that player and he's playing for a big club in Germany. So it will be interesting to watch him watch his career as it unfolds Jeff. Do you have any anything you'd like to discuss in the wide world of sports before we call it a day? Well, I'll continue with the soccer conversation like America has always been known as the undertone comes to south Kirby us. That's never the strong suit. That's never the big big teams or anything like that..

"Fortunately, for them, they were able to get the win after a less than Stiller performance. We expect at this point to see Manchester City score goals in abundance, but they do get the win. So for match day to tin, today's game, we have Bruce Yah Dortmund against Monaco. Do you know who plays Bruce Dorman. Was I think you told me this before he's in American. Our best player that doesn't really. That doesn't really say much compared to see how bad the US men's soccer team has been in the last couple of years. That may be true, but he's also a player that is playing for big club, Bruce Dortmund. So it's Christian pulisic. He, he'll be playing. His team will be playing. I'm not sure if he'll be in the starting lineup. We haven't seen those lineups giving yet z z z casual starter as you'd like. Does. He starts most games, but he doesn't start every game is not like the best player on the team by any means, no, but they're also a team that's very well rounded. They have a lot of good young players. So young boys dressing. Young men help it young men yet it said it sound wronged in. That's a bad name for team when you think about. So Dorman is a good team. They play against Monaco. A very important game. So pull such dig it a goal in his first Champions League match of this season, they will be at home against Monaco. I expect them to win this game. I think it'll be. It'll be close the Monaco's obviously a decent team, but I'm gonna go with like to one prediction here. A big game for me today is taught him in Barcelona. I think that is today's best matchup most intriguing matchup. Tottenham. No, they are looking to make that next step as a club. They've had domestic success, albeit without really any trophies. But in Champions League, they've struggled sorry to interrupt, but I'm just I'm watching. I'm gonna get the scores right now. There's games going on in the Champions League and para. Saint Germain is up to nil in the twenty third minute, and neymar has scored on the twentieth minute and the twenty second minute. So in two minutes time it's already to nil in very, I just felt like that would be an important thing. Absolutely. And that game PS g. is definitely the strong team stronger team there. So I expect them to continue that probably put a couple of goals. It was just nothing. Nothing for so long. And then in literally two minutes until you're down two goals, that's probably demoralizing for the red stars. Yeah, we'll have to check the highlights, see what the goals looked like. A good start PS g. as they, they're another team to. I was talking about Tottenham. There are team. Both teams taught them. Amperes g there to clubs that are looking to not just be successful domestically, but the next step in their progression is actually doing well getting far in the Champions League. I think for PS g in particular, a Champions League final has to be their goal at least reaching the final after being shown the door early in competitions past. So look for that to Schulkin and Lokomotiv Moscow also playing right now that scores zero zero. So we'll see how that one ends up..

"When she knows she put on that facade saying, she was just Saint Clair scam, that Wall Street guy out of a really expensive Baltic Ulan some food like that's obviously something like that's a spark in their relationship. And so just seeing how she balances that between, you know, like she's clearly more passionate about pro Bono work than the money. She gets her Mesa Verde and yeah, I think it's a really, really fascinating character one that I think Saul breaking bad fans universally like, and in that sense, she's basically like the anti sky. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, that was the thing is that during breaking bad, you had this animists for a character in scholar because I think we were still learning how to watch that show and television was changing at the time. And I think they it at the high points of that show's popularity. People were couldn't help, but cheer for Walter at times and probably saw Schuyler as a hurdle for him to get over in terms of letting him become Heisenberg. Whereas with. This show new wrote about this in a blog post that went up after Monday's episode shadow went up that you were just talking about like basically, Kim anxiety levels that we've become so attached to this character that were almost watching with dread every week to make sure nothing happens to rain. It's not even that we think will all of a sudden, you know, nachos, gonna kick down the door and killer or something like that. Anything dramatic is that it's this, it's this slow slippage that you see. But the thing that's kind of weird is that Kim doesn't remind me of Schuyler at all. She kind of reminds me of Walter because clearly she the difference between doing pro Bono work for a defendant who can't afford good legal representation and essentially pulling a con job on an assistant district attorney over a person that she's fairly certain at least did the crime that as being accused of if he's not like quote unquote guilty, gives her such a thrill that it awakened something in her in the same way that at the end of breaking. Walter's like I did it for me yet, and I think that brings back to your point about Odin Kirk in the performances, Jimmy becoming Saul because we know where he's going to go. So we know that evolution is basically predetermined for him where, Kim, you know, we obviously she's not going to be in the picture and breaking bad in. We just don't know what's going to happen to her. So I guess the way you, you know, we can look at it based on the fact that she wants to pull some more scams. It does feel like the thing that might take her out of the picture is like something like disbarments or going the jail, and, and I know some some fans probably think she's gang get killed off, but it feels like if that's the way they got rid of Chuck, it'd be a little weird to repeat that with with Kim. I mean, it's a, it's a violent universe. But if she, she's a lawyer. Yeah. I mean in some ways when you're watching Jimmy and he gets the news about one of his old Sandpiper clients is passed away in the they wanna know if he can help. Execute the will that there's some legalese inside the will that they need his assistance with. And he has that kind of breakdown, which I think is the suggestion I mean to me at least was that he had this sort of deeper connection with this random person. He came across in his life than he did with his brother, but also that there might be some residual, you know, emotional scar tissue being worked out over Chuck through this other person that he was projecting. But obviously Jimmy is somebody with a very. Flexible moral compass and doesn't have the same emotional reactions to things that I think moves characters and TV shows do. Most people do. It'll be fascinating to see how they continue to calibrate this. There's basically two ways to watch the show. You can immerse yourself in it and you can just love it for what it is, or you can constantly be kind of looking for the creeping breaking badness of it all. And I guess Mike is really the avatar for that. Mike and Gus are obviously building something on the desert with a bunch of Germans, including a guy with a Bruce Dortmund jersey, which I really enjoyed the talker..

"And they're in the Champions League, and I just don't know if they have the depth, but axel Vissel scored an incredible bicycle kick in this game a deflection off the goalkeeper and you just his reaction was great. Then Mark Royce, the captain of the team scored its hundred disa- goal is the fourth goal of the game, and it was just a real testament because I felt like last season with Bruce Dortmund that didn't deal with versity very well. If they had gone down. A goal might have turned the two last year, but this year seems like they responded quite well and seemed to have that nice resiliency that I think is a hallmark of any team to other things touch on in in Germany. Number one. One in the Byron game, they ended up beating often hyme three to one, but Kingsley Komen picked up what seems to be a pretty serious ankle injury and he'll be out for quite a while. It sounds like which could be a problem for them. Then the other. The other big thing is VR which would play to play the part played a part in in the Byron game to a certain extent. There was a controversial penalty that they didn't use VR four for whatever reason if you have it, you might as well use it, I guess. But they decided not to use it. And a lot of the often Heim were pretty pissed off because it was a, it was a late one that was given to Byron Byron, basically salted the game away with it. They have VR was also used because players went into the box earliest. They redid the penalty. It just turned into a big to do, and it's one of the reasons I don't like the air. I'm not going to keep going off on this. I probably I'm going to keep going off on tangents on this, but like it's one of the, it's just it. It's not soccer when you start con- you know, it's basically everybody arguing about technology in on all the stoppages and everybody's fighting and arguing. It's just not soccer. I hate. That's just one element of air really. So. So I agree with you a certain extent. I wish they would make the win. They use it a lot more clear. You know, I think they need to iron that out. We're using it for these situations only, but but there is something about the human element of the game. The human air gives us all of our talking points right now all the VAR, and whether we're using this this technology or not. I guess it was just another just kind of evolution of this refereeing, but but yeah, I do have some traditional poll to wanna like, can we just keep it the same? You know. I guess I like the line. I got like technologies. Cool. I get the allure allure VR you know, it's basically in your in your mind, you have this, you know, flowery notion that VR is going to solve all these, you know, controversial calls when really they're not. It's just you're just gonna start that are subject Abon too subjective calls that are going to get argued about no matter what. So you're throwing in v. a. r. which basically kills flow of the game. And to get to nother one. We basically have the Wolfsberg Schulkin to ease Guay. VR was a Vero played a big role in the Wolfsberg Schulkin game. We should say, John Brooks scored a goal really early in this game. Let's go USA all the way. Hopefully he'll be on the squad in what a two weeks coming friendlies against Brazil and Mexico. Yeah, yeah. So we'll see him there, but VR played a big role in this. They they upgraded a yellow card that was given to shock. They upgraded red and then you got thrown out. And so he's gone. And then a red card was initially given to a wolf wrote player and then and then eventually downgraded because of AR to yellow, which is just all sorts of crazy in it led all sorts arguments in did not only did it leads to that. But at that point in the game, it was one one when the when the red card for volts per got rescinded to a yellow, so now votes gets to stay up a man. And have that advantage for another twenty minutes. And then they score the game winning a ninety, fourth minute to win it..

"If you're reading a book that you aren't particularly enjoying, will you still finish it? Fifth question. What does an ideal night out look like for you? Six question. What TV or movie character best represents you. Next question is, on a scale of one to ten, how much do you enjoy historically based TV channels like the history channel, American heroes channels, but Sonian channel cetera, which word more accurately describes you gritty or flashy. If you're assigned a club that's relegated? Will you follow them down into the lower leaks and last but not least what is your favorite food or meal? So if you're looking for a club, those are your ten questions if you forget them or whatever, just go to our. Twitter page. It's pinned right on top there and then throw him out as an itunes review, and we will get back to you with a club for you to support. I would advise people to try and be as brief as possible in those answers. I love reading some of your in depth stuff, but we get such a volume of these things. It becomes too hard. So trying be brevity is your friend that certainly. So there you go, if you're somebody who needs a club, I hope you're excited about this. It's been fun every year doing this for people and we're, we're happy to do it once again, let's start with the show now for reels. Was you're not cool. I'm not young. I am young international Champions Cup. You just preface this with for real? Yeah, it's very little real about it with an s. on the end or z. however you prefer. Look this. It's fine the the because it's it soccer, and it's on ESPN sober contractually obliged now, but they're like, it's in a World Cup summer. It's even more difficult. And I kinda did want to start with that because you're starting to see now this Trent Ben fica Borussia Dortmund at Heinz field had sixteen thousand people. This is kind of a new thing. The IC has been pretty successful in its history and its existence in terms of attendance. But this summer has been a bit of a tipping point. It's a preseason tournament and lets people can't get away from it just far too many people talking about it like it's a thing like it's an international tournament of note and it never will. And that's even more exacerbated during a World Cup summer. And I think we're starting to see that now. So here's my my main point on this because the number one complaint that I've seen from people because look alternately. You know, if you're a Bruce Dortmund fan that lives in the United States, it's still awesome to go. Watch team play, whether it's a preseason tournament or not. Sure. I think the thing is a lot of people view these for what they are like. I don't think anybody's getting van booze into thinking that these games are important, but we're in the US. We don't get a chance to see these teams come here very often. So I like watching that Liverpool Manchester, United match what a scene and for people. I think it's more like a pep rally to just like, this is my club. This is my chance that cheer for them. I know the nothing, but let me be surrounded by like minded people who also wake up early to watch these games. It's just a fun day out. I agree with you. It's such an interesting vision at the big house to see rows of people and intermingled Liverpool jerseys with Manchester United jerseys. People kinda just all staring into the sun, getting some bore, sewn burned halfhearted boos when Ojo was taken his penalty. So my friend John went to it and he's a big Manchester United supporter. And he text me United are just as boring life, which was kind of funny. But he was at the end where the two goals went in and you'll forgive me if I talk more about those later on, but to extant goals, one by Pereira for United free cake. And since eighty one from Shakira who was very impressive in his his debut. So look, I, I know they are what they are, but my objection is always about, don't go to the fans don't charge two moats and that was my main point because that's the number one complaint that I'm seeing from people is how much they cost don't treat us like, we don't know what this is right officially. I think ticket prices are listed anywhere.
