What It Means When Children Are Under Fire

"We have a full house today though. Chris ted and john can you introduce yourself. Hi everyone. i'm chris brown. I'm the president of brady and hi everybody. My name is ted bonar. I'm a clinical psychologist and the director of an family fire and then sort of our man of the hour. Is it strange when you walk into a virtual meeting space and everyone just holds your book up with notes and says okay. Let's get started on delighted. Delighted actually see it in the world. I've been living with it for the weird thing about a book. You know you finish it so long ago and then you wait and you wait and you wait and then suddenly you actually see it out there so now it's it's always a thrill to see waved around admit meetings okay. That's that's a relief. I'm glad we didn't scare you. John and would you mind telling your listeners. A little bit about yourself as well as your great buck children under fire. Sure my name is john. Woodrow cox. I'm a staff writer at the washington post. And i'm the author of children under fire in american crisis. The sort of the short summary of the book is it's meant to be really an intimate account of the way that gun. Violence devastates this country and anna anna. Also a bit of a path forward in ways that we could make some small differences to help those kids both before and after they suffer trauma from gun wiles. I think intimate is a perfect word to describe this book as you detail. The ways in which children are impacted by gun violence through stories of a handful of children. What i'm wondering is what prompted you to write. Not just about the physical effects of gun violence in what that effect is on children but the psychological ex i think that so much of the coverage around the way that kids are impacted by gun. Violence focuses on the kids who get shot. We have such a narrow focus. And this really applies. I think to adults as well. There's this really narrow focus on and that's the headlines. I mean we can look at what happened yesterday. As an example. There's a school shooting all the cable news. Networks make a calculation to say. Let's wait and see how many people died right. One person died they move on. That's not an high enough death

Jaylen Brown scores 40, Celtics beat Lakers 121-113

"Jaylen brown scored forty points and the Celtics held off a late Lakers rallied to win their fifth straight one twenty one to one thirteen brown made seventeen of twenty shots and ended up two point shy of his career high so the collector's mess up as a as a matter of that no his name address so regardless of who's on the court I'm excited to play not energy having a like a sense back into an arena we just want the commander went but it was nearly an embarrassing finished for the Celtics as they saw their twenty seven point fourth quarter lead cut to just five in the final minute but brown made two baskets to help secure the win I am mark Myers

An Undermanned Lakers Leads to a 40 Point Score For Jaylen Brown

"Well and and tonight heading in the Celtics were a six-point favorite according to oddsshark in terms of where they would come out and they and they certainly covered there. They wanted the game bike game. Eight. So if you pick the Celtics in this one that I guess you came out on top of it, but the Celtics came in as the favorite we thought the Celtics would win this game and they really came out firing. I mean the big problem was Jaylen Brown through most of the of the night. I mean we finish up with 40 points. He's the guy they turned to when when things start to get close in the fourth, he came back and scored a couple of buckets and I look at this as as two things off for one. Jaylen Brown is is just a good player. But the second thing is the Lakers just didn't have anybody to put on him. I mean the the guys you would probably turns you would include Anthony Davis LeBron James Markieff Morris all of them sidelined and then you don't even have Andre Drummond to meet him at The Rim when he's driving and he took advantage of I mean credit to Jaylen brown, but I think a lot of this game was just sick of how many guys the Lakers have out injured right now.

‘Hamilton’ Gets Past Race by Imagining Founding Fathers With Black and Brown Faces

"I have seen hamilton live and i saw the movie and it's a predominantly black and people of color kosters actually only one white person in the production. I was king. George and is that accurate lived experience of alexander hamilton. Obviously not alexander. Hamilton was a white person who i believe owned slaves. So at a certain point. I think there's gotta be consumed by the way. Hamilton is one of the greatest things i've ever seen in my entire life. It's beautiful i cried. I highly suggest everyone watches it. And i think this this idea that everything has to be like perfect in these boxes. And like you said idris. Elba somehow wasn't authentic. Because he wasn't eating jamaican food again. I haven't seen the show I think it's more important to have Cast of diversity than the story line. And like i said i would just love to hear this woman's take on things like hamilton and bridgier ten. Which aren't obviously historically accurate. They're actors so. I actually found this kind of confusing. Let me say this very quickly actor should be able to go in and do whatever part they feel. They're they're good enough to do. You can't always live the experience your visual puts out in people's minds now you know i watch friends. I didn't see any black people on the streets. I didn't see any black friends. I mean we were there. Asian people there all. Latino people are there so you know you have to now that one of the things you might want to look for is environmentally. If people walking down the street do you see people that live in the neighborhood or would be on the street in the country. I just i feel like you. You can't say this director this this writers really slide so that didn't write him as a black my roadmaster man you know and everything that comes from that is up to the actors and the directors and the things that come from that and you. Can't you have to talk to people who are casting and people who are writing because if you ride it actors can do it

"William byron finished fourth at martinsville and short-track continues this weekend at richmond. We've had some really good short-track races but yeah then we've had some issues with breaks and and things mechanical things so trying to make sure that we make all that stuff last and and not make it to the end. The race is really important. You know so. I think that's a big emphasis for us. But some of that is how you're driving but also just technique and give making sure that i'm about. I'm taking care of my stuff throughout the early part of the race. Second something good at the end. So that's i think that's all it is just kind of what we've had good handling stuff. Then we've done well but you know you can't try to crutch it too much with with Breaks and stuff if you're not handling well. William byron is happy fans are slowly coming back to the race. Track all masked up. I mean i'll just roll with whatever. I am comfortable with. Howie approach it. I mean i feel. I feel fairly wold as is right now. I think you know the protocols and things are working well so Yeah i think it's going to be a grind full thing but you know i think you see it through all sports right now you know getting getting more and more fans round Whether you know having mass but but being able to have the browns. Biden Administration Will Not Require COVID-19 Vaccine Passports, White House Says

"Proof will be required for entry. But while schools and businesses may want some documentation, the idea of a vaccine passport is not going to be mandated by the federal government, at least, according to White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki. The government is not Now, nor will we be supporting system that requires Americans to carry a credential. There will be no federal vaccinations database and no federal mandate requiring everyone to obtain a single vaccination. Credential. She did say their concern was with protecting Americans. Privacy colleges like Rutgers, Duke Brown Cornell are requiring students to get vaccinated. Cruise lines like Norwegian and American Queen Steamboat will require all guests and staff to be vaccinated. The MBA announced last week, a partnership with a comedy called Clear, which has developed a health pass AP Clear says it offers covert symptoms surveys but also a way to store test and vaccine data. The Miami Heat has started allowing fully vaccinated people who can prove it. Sit in two sections closer to the court. They still have to wear masks. Last week, the Mets announced they'd also be using clears health passed to confirm a fan's negative covert tests before game attendance. MGM Resorts is also partnering with clear, as is Las Vegas Sands Corporation. And, of course, as you might imagine, the airlines are considering all of this to their trade group. The IA Thia says they've been working on a travel pass. Different countries have different covert restrictions before entering. And while New York was the first state to create a so called vaccine passport with the Excelsior past other states are interested. Drummond a Better Addition to Lakers Than Rondo to Clippers

"We'll really both teams. Latest editions have paid off saturday. Andre drummond helped lead the lakers in an upset win over the nets. Thanks to his twenty points and eleven rebounds while yesterday rajon rondo dropped five ten points in the fourth quarter. Help the clippers close out the pistons in a comeback win so shannon waiting to think long and hard about this who is the better acquisition from in oregon out here. I think both gas were what the doctor ordered I think would rondo. Does he is allow. He allows paul george and kawhi not to worry about the ball handling situation especially late in the ball game so now they can do what they really good. At that score the basketball rondo will always get them into the right set. He will always do the right thing. Andre drummond is. This is just what the doctor ordered scale because he gives them. Something that the lakers didn't have the size and strength on the block. A guy that could score down there a guy that could rebound down there and a guy that can defend down there so for me. I'm going to say audrey draw. But although i believe rondo a great acquisition andre drummond is going to be the difference between the lakers winning and losing the title. Because i believe skips if you remember last year would they could do. Is that javagal. Into why they all they own for the most time they own the rebounding advantage. I believe this is going to be another situation that they're gonna get a lot of second chance opportunities because the look the other night i think andre drummond had offense rebounds that gives you another opportunity to possibly get. Am one adult or is going to be kicked out to a wide. Open three point shooter so for me. I'm gonna take andre drummond. 'cause i love and plus he three in august this year

Raising Boys To Be Feminists

"Asked sonora. Saw what it means to have a feminist son. It means having a boy who believes the full humanity of women and girls around him who knows how to trust his mother's voice her anger her love and then extend that to other women around him and also feminism for boys in particular is about you know things like feeling their whole spectrum of human emotion feeling sad being able to cry being able to have that feminine side and then also as they grow to recognize that they can be led by women that they believe women's stories. Do you believe that you are at the center of everything are that you can sometimes follow and pass the mic or let them lead the way or get out of their reece's intrinsic and all of this right. It just has to be part of our conversations about parenting in your experience in particular raising a brown boy in america but this is not just for families of color. utah just explicitly. Teach your white boy about our world that privileges whiteness in the same way. Boys of color are taught about staying safe in that world. Yes the privileges of a white boy. If you don't do that now look at what is happening in society. Look at the insurrection on january. Six and look at the atlanta shootings and the violence against asian women's bodies by the twenty one year old. Which i think is just out of bollywood which is not to say. Oh he's just a little boy but it's just say that if we don't teach our boys that every human being matter and everyone is precious and we don't teach him how to express his anguish how to see that you just one person and you might also need to struggle for what you have and so when once you start to descend to yourself you actually going to feel like you earned something

Perfectionism Versus Healthy Striving

"Perfectionism can be very confusing when we first start processing it because many of us have seen it as a positive trait over time. We think that it increases our chances of success and really helped us get where we are today. That is in part true but most of us suffer more than we gain from perfectionism and by suffering i mean it causes us to enter into self flagellation awesome term which also can be described as self defeating thoughts that into south defeating behaviors which ultimately make it more difficult for us to achieve our goals. When i wanna talk more about in the realm of perfectionism today is what you know. Your comes name brown quote which she says about perfectionism and that is perfectionism is not the same thing as striving to be. Your best. Perfectionism is not healthy achievement and growth. She explains that. Perfectionism is used by many people as a shield to protect against pain. Blame judgment or shame and some of those painful examples of perfectionist stick. Behavior are spending thirty minutes or even fifteen or twenty minutes rewriting writing and rewriting a two sentence email. Yeah raise your hand if you've been there. I'm definitely raising mine. "Hello everybody stephen a. It's not just friday to fill friday all. How are we doing this morning. Good to see you both. We have plenty to talk about max. Stephen a. m. molly morning guys. Let's get right to it because we got a lot of football and we have a lot of nba as well. I want to start with the cleveland. Browns as stephen just mentioned so they're now eight and three Their second in the division behind the steelers currently the five seed in the afc playoff picture. They've won their last three stephen as sunday. They face tennessee. So tell me this. I will start with you. Do you finally believe in baker in the browns brown. I'm not sure. I believe baker mayfield. I think bart scott earlier this morning on get upset at best. There's no quarterback who's done less with more than baker mayfield. The jury is still out about him. We know that they're eight and three. But we also know that this only complete in twenty one sixty one percent of his passes only thrown for twenty one hundred yards over the first ten eleven games or so so. When i look at it from that perspective seventeen touchdowns seven interceptions nothing to sneeze at per se. Nothing that blows you away. But he's not born in abundance of interceptors. We'll give him credit for that but look it what he has. He's got nick. Chubb and kareem hunt at the running back spot even with odell beckham julia going. You still got jarvis landry in the crew and hooping those boys so you've got a multitude of weapons. Kevin stefanski deserves a lot of credit Because of how he's he's basically kept kept baker mayfield contained per se and utilize of assets around them and it just basically asked baker mayfield not to lose the damn game and to his credit. He hasn't let's everybody that outside when they lost their last game was against the las. Vegas raiders a game in which they only put up six points the entire game. Since that time they be in the houston texas. We know what struggles they have had. Even though the shawn watson has been lights out and then after that they've played the eagles and they played the jacksonville jaguars so let's pump the brakes and not act. Like oh my lord. There eighty three. It's something special going on in cleveland. The quality of competition that you have taken that you have taken out does have something to do with that as well and so i look legally. Do i believe in baker. No do i believe in the browns year. That's where i'm at with their right now but only a little bit. They'll make the playoffs. I don't expect them to make any noise to be very clear. Well i don't know what you're arguing. Are you arguing that you don't believe in them because you made the argument the end there the the jaguars by two points under a field goal eagles by five points under a touchdown and the texans who examined at the time by a field goal. That's how they started winning games. I do not believe in the browns. And it's because i don't believe in baker mayfield and it took me a while to get there with baker. I held out hope for baker. But he doesn't do anything special. You can throw the ball well enough. He can read a defense well enough. You can move well enough but nothing really stands out and so he can be a good enough quarterback but a good enough quarterback to win a super bowl. No i don't think so. He needs a whole lot around him. I don't think he's good enough to win the whole thing and in fact the two divisional games. He played the destroy. They got screwed by baltimore week. One they got destroyed by pittsburgh when it looked like maybe they can be coming though. I don't believe in the browns for the reasons you pointed out. I don't believe in the browns and it's because like maybe if you replace baker with a better quarterback i've maybe i would think yeah. Actually they do have a couple of good backs and with odell. here's an example of. It's not a matter of addition by subtraction. It's a matter of separating. Two players. Baker mayfield is better off without odell because they have zero chemistry and i know dallas way better off without baker so like you saw the team kind of come together when there wasn't an issue zero chemistry issue between the quarterback and the wideout. But you're right landry left. He can he can. He's really good receiver and they got a couple of excellent running backs and they got a good enough defense with some big time playmakers if it weren't for baker maybe i would believe in them but bakers on the team. He's only okay. And so. I don't well i would say this. The reason i'll say i'll do is because again to win in the playoffs. You gotta have a defense. He got have a running game. And when you look at the browns defense particularly ability to get to the quarterback especially myles garrett in there. Obviously that's formidable. And then when you combine that with chubb and kareem hunt especially says chavez been back you see what he's been able to do i'm just of the mindset that when you look at them right now you simply can't ignore what this guy is going to bring to the table. Their last three games. They're three game winning streak. He's rushed for one hundred and twenty six yards hundred fourteen yards and then last week against jacksonville hundred and forty four yards. Averaging at least five point seven yards in each game a carrion each game. nick chubb. is that do. This brother is something special. And so when you look at it from coming out of the backfield you can take that kind of gain into onto the road or even at home. You know off of lake erie inclement weather if you can run the football and you can defend you can do some things particularly to get to the postseason to be a potent threat to somebody else. So in that regard. I say yes again. I don't believe in baker mayfield. Either but i do believe that that defense could get to the quarterback and i do believe that run game will go. Wherever the team goes they can be at home. They can travel on the road. The running game. We'll be there for them. The combination of the two makes me say them. Excuse me. I believe that this team could get to the playoffs and obviously they can make a little bit of noise. Potentially i just don't believe in baker mayfield. That's why i don't use them as super bowl quality somehow someway. I think that he'll olds around it up because in the polls defense will say let's make baker mayfield beat us the browns have benefited from a very very very soft schedule and in fact even some teams that started playing better later on in the season weren't playing well when the browns faced them a texans for example earlier in the season washington. Who's played better recently. So these are bad teams that the browns faced when those teams were bad. But you'll even look at like the bengals earlier in the season. They think when. I was a one score game against cincinnati. They're just they don't win by very much when they do and when they do win. It's almost always against a bad team. The colts early on is probably their best win of the season. Another team that's played better as the season wore on. Look what's coming up now for them. The titans this week then the ravens extensively. I mean you would think the ravens be healthy after quarterback and players backed by then the giants who have also played better as the season's gone on then they have a gimme against the jets and then the steelers so it's not exactly a murderers road coming up. Because the browns seasonal schedule whole season schedule was soft but it is a tougher part of their schedule. I expect them to lose at least two of those games and i don't expect them to get a win. The play-offs max out will tell you this. I think that you being a little bit hard. On cleveland when it comes to the softest of this schedule because you got to remember the schedule to set before the season is played. Obviously so who do they have. They got the pittsburgh steelers twice. They've got the baltimore ravens twice. they're going up against the. Nfc south tennessee. Titans were in the afc title game. The indianapolis colts were expected to do some decent things that she is. Well and We didn't know houston going struggle. The way that they did. But the shawn watson has been ball so when you look at that and then you've got them the nfc east. We didn't expect the cowboys and eagles to beat is bad and so when i look at it from that perspective. Yeah you got the giants and you've got to watch the redskins okay. That's two games. All right you look at the afc south. You got jacksonville. That's the third game or right. You look at cincinnati two games against them even though it's in your division okay. That's five games. you still got cincinnati on scarfs. Are you still got tennessee on his schedule. Baltimore schedule you already lost. Do you got the jets and the giants we get all of that but for the most part you were expecting these guys I don't i viewed his schedule as being weak at all the teams ended up not being on their game the way we anticipate as opposed to..

"Now, you look Mike Nolan and the Defense Defensive Coordinator Defensive Coordinator and you look to that it's like well, maybe he should have stayed retired right I mean that's the way it looks when eight when, when, Landry through the reverse pass in OB. J. For the touchdown the first thing I said they need call Earl Thomas and figure out how to help the secondary because clearly with no pass rush, he had all day he set up it had all day he said up he had the wind up he with the dread that the hands right around the laces. And he delivered a strike because there was no pass rest. There was nobody disrupting anything in ob Jay had a free release on safety. Once he got up on a safety back to the corner safety had enough that he can do anything. You can do again. It's all numbers. Dak has thrown for nearly one thousand yards. One thousand yards in the last two games. I mentioned the four fifty for three straight games. I mentioned the six turnovers, the five turnovers in the last two. Those are a bunch of numbers but for deck, there's only one I'd give all of those yards, all those yards bag for different records. So I care about one stat and that's to win. So so when we don't do that, no other stats matter let me give you one more stat here I know we're going stat heavy, but this division is insane. The NFC, east key the entire season we're going to be a quarter way through the season after tonight's double dip chiefs Pats falcons-packers the latter on ESPN. The NFC? East has three. Wins. We're a quarter way through the season. They have three total wins bad division obviously right and it took the eagles miracle to beat the hobble forty niners i. mean it was just like when you look at it. What what more could you say coming into the season you certainly thought to Dallas would be better. You certainly thought that the eagles would be better Washington so much giants not so much but the fact that all four teams or still in it for weeks to the season is pretty mind boggling I would say, no questions a who the browns cowboys game tell you more about clearly told key a little bit more about Cleveland I would tend to concur vote on our twitter feed Steven probably learned a little bit more about those cowboys and go watch that go watch that social media posts. It's awesome sitting here eating milk and cookies tonight this morning to lead the black cat, the beard, the cigar it's going to be blame him though because if you think about Z.. You tired of every every single year we come into the football season. We talk about the cowboys because it's the big stadium is Jerry Jones. It's all those things. It's a quarterback it's America's team we talk about him but then at the end of the year, we're talking about, why didn't it work out the way that we thought it was at the beginning of the year beside. It becomes a point where it's like man I don't even whatever. Turn the channel they're with him on the a little screen far left. Big Box little boxes. We call it a TV right. Put it in the little box. Again voted on twitter feed, Ki, Ki, Jay, and on twitter and be a part of Kishan will Zubin nation on the Dr Pepper twitter feed. ESPN nation presented by Dr. Pepper. So hit us up at key J and Z who did it tell you more about America's team or team that America shocked by the three in one? Cleveland Browns Your Voice counts as much as anybody hit us up still to come for most of his seventeen year career Lebron has been able to carry every single team. "Seventy annual pro. Bowl is on Sunday. January twenty affects coming right up three eastern noon Pacific from Orlando AFC face in the NFC ON ESPN and ABC plus the fourth annual pro bowl skills showdown when Thursday January twenty third. That's at nine eastern six Pacific as we mentioned earlier. He is the Vikings Offensive Coordinator. No more turned back. He's the new head coach of the Cleveland. BROWNS Cleveland officially introduced Kevin Stansky earlier. Today he spent fourteen seasons as an assistant in Minnesota and this will be his first head coaching job at any level. Here he is which trotter. Kevin Your thoughts on coaching quarterback Baker. Mayfield in in. Where do you think that you'll be able to help him? I think he's a supremely talented player. I think you've seen his skill set over the last couple of years what he's capable of Nobody's as accurate as he is. So I think there's so many tools with Baker his athleticism so I'm eager to get to work with him. I can already imagine some of the schemes that we can run with him but at the end of the day the kid is is is supremely talented and it's just a matter of putting the right pieces around him in addition to Baker. What is the potential of this offense especially with so many big names? Yeah I think it's so important important for us to be able to be multiple. You have to have good players. It's one thing to be multiple and you don't have good players I think we do and I think we have tight ends. We have receivers. We have running back. EXO that allows us to do different things schematically. We don't have to even one personnel group the whole game. We can kind of make sure that we got all of our best players out there on the field. There's been a lot in a a Lotta Talkin Cleveland lately about analytics. What analytics mean to you as a coach and how you might employ them on the field analytics to me is just information statistics? It's it's information when you're making a decision you you'd like to be totally informed and I think that's what we're trying to drive Towards I I will say this. That's in a lot of buildings in the NFL. And I know that we have a pretty special department here so I'm looking forward to working with those guys and I think it's going to be pretty cool. I'm sure you're aware of this. Browns have not been in the playoffs since two thousand two longest drought in the NFL. What is going to be the key to finally turning that around work we gotta make sure that our guys come back to that building and are ready to get to work and Mace telling you we're GONNA do X. buyers these not going to get done we just gotTa buckle down and get to work? Thanks Kevin That's new browns head coach. Kevin Stefanski keep in. Mind John Dorsey he is gone. So Cleveland will also look for GM in the near term when they believe now will need to work in step with Stansky so Jimmy has on the owner also spoke today and he was asked about his ability or his willingness to intervene and be involved with this head. Coach here was his answer. Some bloomer out there reports out there first off that Kevin soon have to meet with you on Mondays after the game is zetter truth to that one will let me ask you if you own the pro football team which you meet with the head coach. SA- Monday after the game. Of course you would I mean. Of course we would rumors out there. Although about presenting the game plan those counter just totally inaccurate in a really think they're irresponsible. We'll look we talked about this earlier when we touched on Stefanski consistency and stability. These are things that have not been in Cleveland. That must be in Cleveland in order for this success to follow so like I mean I i. I hear him the level to which he's going to be involved. I don't know Diana but what I do know is whoever's there needs to be on the same page it sounds like we're whoever put out that information about ownership needing to over game plan. It sounds just like spilt milk. It sounds like Sour Grapes of somebody who didn't get the job and is trying to say I didn't get the job because I don't want to present the game plan to the owner. First of all what owner is even going to go through the game plan and even understand. I mean not not taking away credit from owners. I'm sure they. They know a lot about football but if they don't even speak the same language what are you going to talk about there. I think this is just about synergy. This is what the Cleveland browns are looking for. And I'm in support of that. I think that's a good the idea. I think all the departments should be working together going over the game plan as one so. I don't think it's as you know out of the ordinary to do that. In fact I think it's smart. You know the word that comes to mind when you talk about Cleveland over the last at least five years or so. He's factions right factions. You've seen that we saw hawks. You've seen this group and that group open. I'm against you just not going to work and so to that end do what you have to do to get on. The same thing was too fancy is he has to go into this job not looking over your shoulder and not looking to get fired at the end of the year not looking. He has to look with the stability. He has to be given that stability to be the coach in to take some chances and to not be ridiculed for a mistake he may make here and there he has to feel that stability and that only comes from the top down. And we'll see if that's if that comes to fruition fruition here in Cleveland well no player can play tight right. You can't have a coach. Coaching tight either Roy ownership they want to have be a part of it. You know what I mean and I don't think I've been with other organizations even Clark in Kansas City that I remember taught Haley go meet with him after Games and Scott Pioli and that's a normal thing that organizations nations new now the playbook. That's a little farfetched. Clark wasn't a great owner and a great stewart to this game. I think coached offense gives players are going to start saying he's going to do a great job there and he's got all the tools and and all the football Iq to get it done well and so. I began the new season. A NEW ERA IN CLEVELAND. We say that a lot but anyway it's true all right hat Tuesday. We're not we're going to get right to it. E quarterback new head coach quarterback Combo. You're all in on Diana all right. I'M GONNA go with the Washington redskins Ron Rivera and Wayne Hoskins. I think that Haskins just need a fresh new change there obviously with new head coach. Ron Rivera knows how to win. I think he's great for the quarterback Matt Cassel guys. This is only team I haven't having been on in the. NFL team Baker Mayfield. Let's go boys balanced attack. Rip It around taken that thing off Jack on jumping in line and getting ahead of you. But you're all McCarthy will prove to to serve him in well in terms of what he does offensively. Obviously I'm going with my guys judge. You know I'm not GonNa let him be the talk. We can just too late so you can feel great kids guys. Thanks for having me Victor. I don't right you got fifteen. It's been a day. We're getting ready for championship weekend. The jump is next. Here's your chance to Barbara the castle..

"Twenty percent off a lot of NFL stuff. Going on Ron. Rivera is really good. Riverboat Ron really good by the way. He thanked the media on his twitter account. Today thank thank you. You're critical of me. I always respected you guys just all class right. Let's go cower global satellite network to my information guy love and trust Peter shredder. Good Morning football on the NFL network. Let's START I want to talk about David. Tapper the guy who owns Carolina now so we don't know much about him. He's been there a year. He made some changes on the operation. Side just tell the audience because you hear a lot of rumors in. What kind of guy is he is like a hedge fund guy? He got rid of Ron Rivera. I'm not sure I would have done that. I like Ron a lot. So who is this guy that owns Carolina. I find to be the most fascinating figure maybe in the entire NFL right now. He's not only a Hedge Fund Guy Colin Helen he viewed as maybe the most successful hedge fund manager in the history of American finance took over a company Appaloosas his own Veg Fund left Goldman Sachs. Where guys like Jim Cramer for mad money he was the mentor to Jim? Cramer and immediately built a hedge fund where they were banking twenty billion dollars a year so the financial crisis happens in two two thousand seven everyone flees he doubles down. And says I'm going to trust at the government's not going to let us fail and ends up buying a bunch of different regional banks in acquiring all these different different assets when everyone else left and they were up one hundred fifty percent the next year so he is a visionary and he was also a minority owner of the steelers. Yeah so when the panthers had to get rid of Jerry Richardson. They interviewed a bunch of guys in the League. Who's going to be the next owner? He blew everyone away and said I'm in not only am I in mind for three billion dollars. But I'm gonNA play an aggressive roll here so instead of being passive so I'm GonNa let everything go and see cleaned out the business side. But then watch the panthers on the field this year and was very upfront with Ron Rivera. And said I'M NOT GONNA keep you twisting in the wind. We're not bringing you back next year. I'm going to look you in the eye and tell you we're letting you go but I also want to give you the opportunity to have a press conference on the way out and get a head start preparing for your next job because you will get another job. It was actually as seamless a firing of a head coach. I can imagine both sides seem okay. I spoke to Rivera last night on the phone. He seems fine with it and he's excited for next up. He wants to coach again and he wants to do it fast. I think he's a great fit for the New York giants they let go to Pat Shurmur who I don't think has much much of a presence. They're losing they're losing ugly. Nobody cares it seemingly New York giants Ron Rivera. Make any sense to you. makes a ton of sense. He makes a ton of sense in any market it that a team has talent on the field but seems undisciplined. So I'm not in the business of firing coaches. It's not my thing. I don't ever like saying well. This guy is on the hot seat. If you look around the League League and you look at teams that look undisciplined that have great town on the roster and that just needs to be shaped up because that's what Rivera does he came for two and fourteen team and Carolina. In two years later they won the division title then on the next two division title. So he's in there to get things in order and not only a beloved coach but also beloved guy in the building he will bring you order a military every man and he comes from a long tradition of Andy Reid coaches or these guys seemingly come in and they make you a professional team again. I'm not going to name teams that I think the way out but if you think about certain. NFL teams that need that. He definitely fits the bill. Jim Harbaugh Carolina. You buy the rumors at all. You think that makes any sense. I don't I don't think that temper is looking looking to bring in a guy who's done it. His way twelve different places in his burned like a star and then burned out with those players. I think tempers looking to go young. I think temper is looking to go different and I think bringing in horrible. You're going my way or the highway and that's just not going to work with an owner. WHO's looking to go innovative into zig to the rest of the NFL Zag? So do I have the list of names right now. I would say if I'm David Tepper and I'm looking at what he's interested in analytics new age thinking an offensive minded coach. Who can potentially work with Cam? Newton or whoever their quarterback is next year. I don't see Jim Harbaugh. Who has coached at all these different schools and has burned out with a lot of these different players after a few years and and is currently coming off of a Michigan? Five years that I don't think they're actually pushing them out the door. I don't think they're gonNa be the team that writes a blank. Check for Jim Harbaugh. I just don't see it. What is the March said? Said this for years. I've said this sometimes sports move into you. Sometimes they move out you Russell Westbrook great but now all the league wants from its guards. Can you shoot threes. He does everything being but shoot. Three's cams town that he's the Westbrook of the NFL but the NFL now wants you to complete sixty nine percent of your throws. He's an athlete. WHO's kind of Iraq with accuracy? Accuracy I think the sports kind of moving away from him. But I do think there's a market for CAM like Westbrook landed in Houston. He sells tickets. He's fascinating Cams GonNa Fascinating. What's the market places? You think it would work. Healthy Cam is fascinating. And he hasn't been that guy for three years he's got to go through foot surgery he might not be health even walk until March like. That's the big issue here. We're all looking at Camp Fifteen Lens. This is twenty nine thousand nine by the time missile field next. It'll be twenty twenty. He's not the guy he was. So what guy will he be. I don't know but I do think this at nine hundred ninety million dollars which what is he is making next. Next year for the Carolina. Panthers is not Worth Carolina to at least talk to the new coach. Whoever it is in say for one more years worth at least waiting to see what kind of version of can we get back? I'm not sure he's out the door just yet. I do think it is fascinating. Second chapter to his career can be a reliable player in this league. I think so so. Is he ever going to be the guy that he was when he was. MVP season with fifteen and one. It's really hard to believe especially when he's coming off a foot surgery and hasn't played in close to eighteen. Months is five-time at his one hundred percent based on what we see him next. I don't know if there's anything new to say and Jason Garrett I think it'd be wins out in one playoff game each stay and everybody assumes it's Lincoln in Riley I mean when you talk to your sources around the league are their names we're not hearing is is again. I I assume if he can win out which is hard but I think he'll win that game in Philly. I do the eagles. Those were kind of a mess. And they're all banged up. Is there anything new on the cowboys front in your opinion. Here's the thing if they win that game against the Eagles and they go seven and nine and they get home playoff game. I and they beat the Vikings or they beat the forty niners anything short of a super bowl. I don't see how you can look to the fans after what's been said in the media and reading the tea leaves that he's back as coach. That's next year. So it's kind of an untenable situation for Garrett in less he actually does have them hoisting a Lombardi trophy which seemed very hard to believe right now the cowboys job becomes. I'm curious though because you've mentioned it all morning long con- that hey you go to maybe a Carolina or you go to a redskins or giants or wherever else these jobs Mar Jacksonville wherever these jobs might be opening up and you kind of blank slate with the cowboys you know. You're really the coach that Jerry Jones has picked in your owner Jerry Jones rule so does has Lincoln Riley who's coached. The last two heisman trophy winners in the last two number one overall picks is that his dream job to leave Oklahoma to go be under Jerry Jones owns. Maybe we haven't heard from Lincoln Riley side and I think he's going to have several suitors so. I'm not sure the cowboys job as wonderful as that started. Helmet isn't as amazing societies are. I'm not sure that job is what guys are leaving for as their number one destination in fact. I'm not sure there's a number one destination when all of these jobs are open unavailable and it's all said and done. I generally don't buy into rumors like this but let's just have fun for a second now. We both love Brady and ballot check back in Nineteen Years Bella. Check drafted one skill player. That's been a pro bowler. That's amazing. Gronk can't count Matt Slater. He's a special teams guy. So every great right dynasty and every Genius Elon. Musk a genius. But he's got a whole he's a little crazy belic genius. Bella checks genius. He's not great drafting kill people. He's shown in one thousand nine years not a specialty linebackers align outsourcing wide receivers. That are already in the NFL. Fine when you hear these rumors about Brady selling his house Brady going to Los Angeles. There's part of me that thinks Tom is going to look at Baltimore and Kansas City. They're not getting to the super bowl all and Tom's like I'm forty two. I got a place in La. I'm GONNA go give. The chargers are run. And I don't want I don't WanNa put you in a bad spot here but there is is part of me here. That thinks he's a little worn out from rookie. Receivers Fifth Round guys a quarterback Edelman they turn into a receiver. I don't think it's nuts that have brady got bounced. He'd sniffle little. Is that crazy. I don't think there's any doubt that Brady a little frustrated with the current roster and the situation and how these guys are playing at the skill positions and he's looking around and every other team has fourteen different receivers. Who couldn't afford the? He's throwing the undrafted guys who played quarterback last year. But I would say this. I'd be slow to break up the bell check in Brady thing and I would also be slow to not think that Bella checks a little frustrated with the lack of weapons. Also I think the Antonio Brown think didn't come necessarily from Tom Brady get rid of Antonio Brown around not necessarily thinking. It was from umbrella. Check either so I would be weird to say that. He's looking at Bella. Check and saying come on it's more. Hey what can we do to get with this group and get them there to the next level because yeah you saw what. He was saying on the sideline on Sunday night. Man Happy Vocal and visible as we've seen him since. Maybe he and Josh mcdaniels got in those things on the sidelines lines way back but the chargers deal. I wouldn't put them in another uniform just yet. I would not put him in another uniform. Yeah I would say let's wait it out and let's see what happens here win win or lose. I can't imagine brady saying okay. I'm so angry about the current Roger Situation that I'm going to open up the La chargers new stadium and be the a tenant to what the rams are building that can explore. Production deals with Mike Williams as my receive chargers roster serious experience decision to go maimon style with the rams. Okay well you are reporter. I'm just a guide. Give it away. It's FUN TO FODDER I. I don't think it's not ogden happened. I would say I would be wary of imagining Tom. Brady chargers uniform. No that's that's fair Enough Fox. NFL reporter our buddy on the NFL. Kickoff show on Sunday to we love him. Peter Schrager good talking to you. I will see you on Sunday and yes that Fox. NFL Kickoff show that we have fun. But so is the Saturday morning show which is kicking. Can Bud good stuff in the college. Football guys thank you. schrage shrugs noticing that to joy. You notice that things are working here at work. Who Point eight million viewers? You know what I'm rooting for Brady. Just signs with the chargers moved to Manhattan beach neighbors. Mostly listen. Well I can't have I I can't my agendas whole world guiding you and I think you in Tom Get along a little busy east prob. He'd probably has a few things to do Joy.

"Joy with the news. Well that's the news and thanks for stopping. Heard lie will be honest. I root for stories. I've said this before. Chaos is good for my business I love free agency I love the NBA free agency more than the regular season and in March the NFL free agency. The last couple of years has been fascinating. I love talking about where people go. It's like it's like people magazine if I liked Hollywood's gossip and I think it's fascinating with Cam Newton. They fired their head coach in Charlotte Carolina fires him and going to fire their GM reportedly chances are they'd move off Cam Newton but what I think is fascinating is what is the market for Cam Newton. I think the sport is moving away from I say Russell Westbrook Russell Westbrook the one thing the NBA is looking for from guards. He doesn't do shoot threes. Everything else. Russell Westbrook very good at Cam Newton. The one thing he doesn't do that everybody's looking forward is precision throwing sixty eight percent completion percentage and consistency consistency. He doesn't do it. It's going to be fascinating. What is cams value on the market if they trade him he's sixty eight fifty five and one? He completes fifty nine percent of his throws his passer ratings in the mid eighties. Hundred and eighty two touchdown. Two hundred eight picks seems distracted by the way a bunch of injuries. What is it bears? Well the bears right now. have an athletic quarterback who's inconsistent and not always accurate cam. Just a better version of that. You can talk yourself out of that very easy Denver. John elway likes big quarterbacks with big arms but they have drew lock he won last week. He's a second round pick. They're they're gonNA give drew lock a season to prove or disprove. He's the guy they're not gonNA bring in Cam over him. La chargers certainly possible. They have an Old UNATHLETIC quarterback. And they're moving to a new stadium and needed to sell tickets to cam sell tickets out west. I'm not sure he does too does does does because he's hope whereas came. We kind of know what he is. Also the chargers have four or five young players. They pay real soon own. They want a rookie quarterback deal for three years cam. You'RE GONNA pay eighteen million two year one then probably twenty four twenty six year. Two and three chargers have a lot of mouths to feed eight and a lot of great young players and they gotta clear out some cap space. And you can't do it with an expensive quarterback in the mid twenty s eventually so I am fascinated to watch. Listen I've I've never been a Westbrook Fan. I think the game moves away from him but he did find a very smart Byron. Houston cams going to find a buyer but I do think the market is shrinking on cam coming up well Blackman one of my favorite guests former. NFL are very very funny guy. He'll be joining us. Be sure to catch live additions of the heard. Weekdays at noon eastern nine. Am Pacific in our podcast. Hush money we're going to get you talking. We debate the uncomfortable questions about money and life then a celebrity judge joins us to decide. WHO's right? There's no such thing as strings free money. There are some archaic laws right. Now that it's traditions. That many pay women will do the reach. The fake reach you know. Money is is one of those things that people like to ignore. You can binge all the episodes now on apple podcasts. The IHEARTRADIO APP or wherever you get your podcasts. Well black men played in the NFL for a decade a super bowl champion the New York giants by the way Ron Rivera is out there. I think the New York giants or the perfect fit. He's worked with Dave gettleman. Jeon is a big deal. They've had to offensive coaches mcadoo. Shurmur have whiffed. It's time for a defensive guy. That's the side of the ball. They're going to get chase young with the number two pick. I think I think he works. I think Ron Rivera and respected. As a coach hundred percent backed by everybody just he admitted integrity Obviously it always helps you play the game. He's he's been around the game for thirty years. You know a respected position. Respect the court and respected everything. Everybody likes him. Everybody does yeah. And that's a big deal. Now now people have said I think giants is perfect. People have said Cleveland and I think he doesn't want to deal with the nonsense with Baker Mayfield. World wants a focused quarterback Matt Ryan in Atlanta. He would want giants. He's got Daniel Jones who appears to be quiet focused all football. I don't think he wants Baker stuff. Maybe maybe he doesn't you know I think he could handle it all. God Yes yes I mean I think you can handle it but he would go there and I think obviously New York would be the better option for him. I could make the argument in fact I was talking to. WHO said this yesterday? Trent dilfer said this he said what Baker Mayfield needs needs is a man a six four played in the game. Jack del Rio tight yes. Ron Rivera says Baker. Sit Down and be quiet and Baker. Kurt five eleven goes okay. Baker controls Freddie hundred percent. I said last year I was like he didn't even need a head. Coach team like like Baker could have just random plays himself but now we need to head coach. They need direct terms of having Freddie he he needs he does need that exactly. Bandini Eland Jack Del. Rio Man a grown man who says hey zip it up on dumb with you could more McCarthy man potentially he wouldn't be the first grown man I take Ron Rivera a really grown man. I think Jack del Rio will be my to Ron Rivera by one Jack. Del Rio's might too. That's my thought. Okay so pro. Football focus came out with some numbers in grades will blackmon WHO's also alliance Somalia or training to be training to be. That said it's not Brady. It's his weapons. Do you know in Nineteen nineteen years. Bill Belichick has drafted one pro bowler at wide receiver. Tight end running back. Is it possible is it. Yeah because everyone else was a free agent right so we're all banging on Brady. Can we now shift it and say maybe it's Bella Chat can't get him help you thought Muhammad's who was going to be big so tonight the I really did you know already. I think you know we can say health. He's not healthy right now but I thought he was going to be a huge acquisition for them and right now right. He's like he's holding the ball looking for some of the therapies. He's known for getting rid of the football. quit yes and right. Now he is going through. Progression twice is it possible. Thomas Mazey's aged has gotten a little rigid Russell. Wilson works with everybody immediately. Tom Seemingly works with nobody. It even took cattleman Ford items. Think maybe I need to wash the film film but I don't think anyone's getting open there are there are guys that are wide open. It's not raining. It's not a great receiving core but also Russell buys more time time so it's hard to cover somebody for four and a half seconds. You take that into account Russell taken off because when the Games online also is running for the first down if it's there when you watch Seattle Monday night will blackmon joining us in my take and I had. I don't do this. I'm not into predicting bowls but I watched it and I said and I said this last week can I say I said it before Monday night and I said it after Raven seahawks feels like the Super Bowl to me and I feel fairly comfortable saying it in. I would agree because right now. Those are the two teams have in the most fun by far. They just look like they're enjoying every moment. Why does that matter because when when you're a team that's having a lot of fun that means everyone everyone entire organization has bought into the mission is to what we're doing like every everyone is all in the giant team like that? Oh yeah tell me about well so basically actually I remember. We went to New Orleans demolished. I remember it well. We play in man. You know we got obliterated rated but we have guys in that team where we just finally got together customers each other out and it was like all right. Let's do this. Let's let's figure this out because we can still make this happen enhance down. That was just the most fun because guys were going to each other's house washing film guys always hanging out with each other guys. We're going to dinner. Guys were really invested in each other US players. It was almost like we were with. Our team is more than we were with our own spouses when we watched Seattle doing all those wide receiver. That's exactly so that takes time. So you think thinks Seattle and Baltimore feel like they bought in you. Know what's underrated was Seattle. So everybody's looking at Seattle early in the year when they got their ears boxed by the saints right they add Quadri. Marie digs clowney. was there but not quite as John. Schneider what no Seattle Adeyemi Big Flash Gordon cloudy and digs it. Safety fifty from Detroit. They give us a fifth rounder. Those are three playmakers in the enemy immediately digs for game immediately so they brought on three pro bowl level player right in who in the middle of a season one took a while to get going and I honestly think Seattle is a different team today than two months ago in Baltimore by the way was to into hadn't figured Out Their identity didn't couldn't be as aggressive as they wanted to so they went and got Marcus Peters right now okay. Now we can because the issue was when you think of Baltimore you'd Think L. Defense right historic historically you think of defense and it was the offense that was leading the charge in the beginning. Eventually defense started catching on right. They added Marcus. Peters an angry agree. Revenge Vindictive Marcus Peters ready to go and sure enough you know. The defense already had the players the the personnel to be a really good defense and they finally caught on so now they marry the two. And it's like it's the most dangerous team that I see in a long time. Okay Cam Newton. I think there's there's a market for him I don't know if it's a huge market but there there'll be a market. He's talented and by the way at this point. He's a bargain financially. He really is he. If you have of a team like you know you have a real roster and you've got an for a year to you WANNA win Games. Chicago feels like it would work. Is there a place you think he'd fit. Well when you say when he needs a roster Chicago does look really good. But I'm goff. I'M GONNA go crazy here. I'm going to say AH I like him. A New England if look at your face if say something I don't know I. This is what I thought I picked up wanting to go and want to early. preseason okay in the preseason I picked that they get their seventh win brady rise instead of sunset and I think Cam to New England and you know they just they. They know how to be innovative and they figure something out. I don't know I've thought about this. So there's been rumors Brady put a house up for sale. There've been rumors about Brady leaving those own. Adam schefter put those out the Adam's legit jet there's ramblings brady is hired hired of the offensive lack of skill people. That's why the chargers rumors come up because they've got a good tight end. They got good to backs receivers. They draft they draft players. There's for Kim. No over eighty brady doesn't make the playoffs in. Brady's got a house in ally which he does house in Palm Springs and says last year in. La WanNa go hang out family California then cam moves. That's not crazy at all. I don't think it's the craziest thing in the world to suggests that Tom Getting more into the entertainment. Business ends his career in Los Angeles. I don't think that's a reach. I think I think the chargers I think he would change the chargers culture has there been a franchise in your life that loses more games. They should win. The chargers Tom Tips. That scale you'd think so I think it's you know how it is is not just about athletic ability. He's a culture changer. Tom Watson who elevate everyone but he's not has elevated everyone's game thus far you know what's crazy though is that there tended to. I don't care they don't care. They beat teams. That weren't that good. They're still tending to. I'm not yeah yeah you know so. I'm not really panicking about them right now. By the way catch will will be on Fox sports radio Sunday mornings nine to eleven with Mike Harmon on Fox. Sports Radio Okay by the way. Let's.

"As I have Farrand I think change was appropriate to build things the way I want things to be built. Now I'm never a fan of firing coaches midseason I on a human level but I think it's a competitive thing here. They WANNA be available so so so let's say harbaugh was available. The college seasons all but override except for a bowl game so I think enjoy the do it for competitive reasons in the marketplace. Sure but let's keep it real these conversations that are made on that level start before any moves are made so like somebody has harbaugh's number. That's really the thing. Look some coaches it. Just because you know coaching fraternity won't have a conversation with you about taking a position until the position is open so if that is the case that's that's a fact like some people won't even take your phone call like I'm not going to talk to you about taking a job. That isn't vacant. I've heard about so if that's the situation then. That makes sense that they would do that. They have somebody. They are very interested in but John's like I'm not gonNA take that call while Armavir still has that job. I'm not GONNA do that. That is a thing. Maybe that's what happened overall. I just I mean obviously like they feel their season is over and they want to get ahead of it. I just don't like the idea of firing someone season that said clearly. He wants to make sweeping changes. So He's been actually a bit patient with the situation. It's usually when a new owner comes in or a new. GM is is. Everything's dramatic right away. He is a smart businessman so he has plans for the panthers. The panthers have a very loyal fan base very strong Family Charlotte Organization. Yeah so I do. I'm marriage to see what direction they go with all this. Because obviously you have Cam Newton element as well and Rivera's GonNa Lens in a great situation wherever where he goes because he's he's very well respected and he's a great coach very good very what's happened with Carolina is not on Ron Rivera. Sometimes you just have to come in in and make changes so delvin. Hodges one starting job for Mason Rudolph last week and he led the steelers to big twenty thirteen win over the browns. It was In I mean in my opinion was predictable. Soon as I saw that Freddie kitchen shared I knew it was going down. Mike Tomlin has announced that duck will be the steelers starting quarterback again again again this weekend against the cardinals to Gamer. He said he has a lot of confidence in the undrafted rookie. Who has won? Both of his starts and that he's been doing a great job of taking care of the football. Yeah that's that's key. Yeah they haven't been winning in spectacular fashion. Their defense is Great. And they score like one touchdown I mean. That's the key is their defense in the front. Seven of that defense plus Minka Fitzpatrick is scary. Great their defense. They've had major.

"About fifteen minutes. He's a great. NFL insider. So yesterday Ron Rivera was fired. I hold him in high regard. I think he is an excellent coach. Played in the NFL. He's got kind of a Jack Del. Rio Anthony Lynn Alpha Alpha male presence. He's a big intimidating guy noses stuff. I'm a huge. I don't know Ron. I know people who know him. I really like him as a head coach I think he. He deals with a lot of crap behind the scenes. Sometimes with Cam Newton. That don't people don't see he doesn't let out cam jump to his defense yesterday. I think Ron's excellent and I think again life. Excellent people get fired all the time really good people and all sorts of industries get fired. I think Ron's great and he talked about it yesterday's a very proud guy. This has been a crazy division even with drew brees. It's like every year. There feels like there was a surprise team. He got to a super bowl one year at came out of nowhere. Here's Ron yesterday. I'm proud that I took over to fourteen team and won back to back to back the emphasis. WOM off three in a row. Okay with you define it by wins or losses or you defined by winning the division to me. That's three years in a row of consecutive winning. Okay so I WANNA make sure straight on that. I get tired of hearing all. They couldn't win three years in a row two years in a row. Now we want three years in a row. Let's get treatment and we were the first team in the NFC south do it. So I'm pretty doggone proud of that should be did never hall of Fame quarterback Tartu Win your division three years in a row. When you got good quarterback not special quarterbacks he's excellent there's going to be five jobs that I'm pretty sure going to be open and I would argue? Is the leading candidate in most of them. So what is Ron Rivera. Going being to avoid. Because he's a successful guy his agents going to get it got a bunch of calls his agents lucky guy today until his ron. So Ron's going to get his pick but when you're really talented and you get let go in any relationship personal or business. What do you not do you avoid the pratfalls of your previous job if you date somebody? They've got a big temper explosive temper and you break up. You're not going to date somebody again with that kind of temporary in fact the pendulum will swing. Wayne you'll probably go to somebody WHO's laconic with no temperate. All you'll over compensate. That happens all the time so the five jobs. Let's put them out there. Washington Washington has an opening already. Atlanta's going to have an opening Dallas could have an opening the Cleveland browns. Probably they'll have an opening and the New York giants will have an in opening those five. So let me eliminate Atlanta for the only reason is I doubt they would hire a third straight defensive offensive coach if I was Atlanta I'd hire on Rivera but they had Mike Smith Have Dan. Quinn my guess. Twenty nine thousand nine hundred twenty the way the world works. You're going to go offensive offensive. I get it. I don't agree with it but I get it. Let's eliminate Cleveland K.. Ron Rivera had a high profile L.. Celebrity quarterback that was inconsistent. That's Cam Newton. That's Baker Mayfield. I think Ron would like to go to a place with a quarterback that never million commercials commercials and the quarterbacks not a star and the quarterbacks not a celebrity in the quarterbacks accuracy is excellent. Let's eliminate Cleveland Leveland. Let's eliminate Washington. Because during Ron Rivera's time he dealt with an ownership change and I think Washington's got a lot of messes from quarterback to GM to ownership. I don't think it's a great job. I think he's better than the Washington job. So now it comes down to Dallas in the New York giants and I think most media people listen to yesterday said Dallas's the fit. Let me suggest that the New York giants are a perfect fit. And let me give you the reasons number one. The giants have gone back to back. Offensive Coaches mcadoo and Pat Shurmur to whiffs Velgo defense. The giants offense is pretty darn good in spots. They need defense the giants. Also we're going to finish with a second and worse record in the NFL after Cincinnati. They're going to have a chance to get chase young defense. who would use chase young really well? L. Ron Rivera a defensive guy. They have a quarterback that I think Ron Rivera would be attracted to. He doesn't talk. He almost looks like the past quarterback. We're back who didn't talk. Daniel Jones no celebrity no commercial no star power. No Cam notice. Traction totally focused on a rookie contract for two more years Dak.. You've got to pay him now in Dallas Daniel. After paying for years in New York Dave Gentleman's the general no manager of New York. Oh wait Ron Rivera. Won Back to back to back divisions with Dave gettleman so gettleman who's on the brink of getting whacked can save his job and go I one divisions with that guy. That's my guy in the owners like all right so Washington's Lincoln's got a crazy owner. The giants owner the Mara family. Quietest guy in the league Cleveland's got an outspoken commercial. Infused quarterback giant have one that it. Nobody in New York can recognize in New York. They get recognize him. You gotta get along. You Got Daniel Jones. You got the laconic quiet owner. This is a giants coach. They've had back to back off guys macadear Schumer with both of them. This is the Guy The New York giants and Ron Rivera. I think he'd get chase young with the number one or or to pick along with Dexter Lawrence last year. He'd make that defense saying he's made Carolina's defensing for a decade. That your guy.

"Todd Gurley is not a fan Thursday night football saying you know how I feel about Thursday night games. I feel like they are the dumbest things ever the rams who lost at home to the bucks. We'll play I at the seahawks in three days and finally when they were part of the Mickey Mouse Club Justin Timberlake's mother was Ryan goslings legal. Guardian Timberlake's mother was goslings leading okay got it for all the way into formation junior sports center on ESPN radio authorized debt a tweeter writes in. I hate to be that guy but Venezuelan isn't a racial category. It's a nationality cheese that we have made Mike Ryan suffer enough. He has not been allowed to talk nationally for the last two and a half hours and our GONNA suffer the biggest victory of the Cleveland browns season they the tough part of their schedule this these six games here at at the start if they can navigate it without going one in five you know which now that can because they beat Baltimore on the road but there was the chance there that the noise was going to get re allowed around that team because a whole lot of people delighted in the one and two start was going to get real. Loud me. Ask You a question national media touch. You proud of yourself herself yet fun last week. Inch you had all sorts of fun playing the game build them up. Just knock him down. Daniel Jones better than Baker Mayfield. We forgot about the Brooklyn passing touchdown sound record. That was all fun for you right. Lamar Jackson change in the position. He's GonNa win that division easily this is a joke because they had eight starters out against the NFC champion Rams and loss on the final donald play. You should be embarrassed. You should all be embarrassed. You know what happened yesterday Freddie Kitchens. He actually learned from mistakes. What a leader Odell Beckham. You only caught two passes but he opened up everything on the field. Look at that Nick Saban. Look at it. Look at the power the size the speed look good. You know what you don't see a safety safety wise because the safety dragged over Dodo Beckham side. That's what you see. Ricky Seals Jones same thing safety is over over. They're busy with Odell Beckham while leader not complaining not complaining after the game a a three hundred yard passer on the road a one hundred and fifty plus yard runner on the road a one hundred fifty plus yard receiver in Jarvis Landry who I was led to. I believe only caught three yard passes for my time down here in Miami. What happened about sixty yards walking cost after the catch. That's what happened. That's why he lost his balance. Poor Guy I. I hope you're okay. What a performance toughest road game of the season in this division and what did they do? They make that wide receiver look exactly like what he is a wide receiver you you heard me your body language so bad when you're not front running and playing the Miami Dolphins Mark Jackson onto you. I'm so onto all of you. You're you're doing to demand that. We look at chubs size or his thigh. You can look at both everything. Did you see that scene my power one of the more more complete backs. You'll ever see he does that. All the time now eight hundred plus yard runs pulling away. How can someone big and strong so avenue got a job. You got the job my job just saying you come with that noise on a week that they just barely lost to a really good team that we thought thought of anyway at the time but now the bucks beat them so who knows but you come with all of that. You better be prepared for the repercussions. You're dealing with it now. I realized something while I was watching. That's terrible. Shoukat up is just awful. What they were doing was irresponsible last week. Can you believe this Rex Ryan Joy. They call Baker Mayfield overrated overrated as hell over a man who has a tattoo of Mark Sanchez's Jersey on his arm is telling me what quarterback play is. Can you believe this on this network next time time. You have the goal to do what you irresponsible fools that last week go walk to a mirror. Look at what you're wearing because if it is an orange and brown new you do not a line that is what and also for the last twenty years if it was orange and brown around it did not matter which is the reason that the national media enjoys with reckoning now boys there minus two. They are minus two point point differential but they are too into as everyone in the entire sport teams. We're four weeks in and no one knows anything Lamar Jackson Lafayette's uh-huh beat up on the dolphins and the people in the corner. He's the greatest Oh no. He's not he's not. He's not the passer. Baker Mayfield is unbelievable. Baker Mayfield Sixty eight sixty six percent completion percentage on eleven point four yards per attempt. This guy has goods and got the goods Jackson. You've got the bads. Dad So cocky John Harbaugh did yo can row remember when they were talking about Cleveland winning. The division gets tiebreaker goes US first place. Where is the Panir quarter quarter the season's done they are the Cleveland browns heard Llanelli march on out west area to take on an undefeated team out in the NFC the only one there is in that conference coming coming off a bye coming off a by Monday night football. You'll all I'll be there. You'll do the same thing. y'All hype this game and parade at the Browns lose address so they can do your job. That's you you lazy but they make it so easy easy. I couldn't talk two and a half hours about the browns today because I knew that's what they don't have a secondary you understand we did that with our second team secondary dairy. Everybody's out everyone. And where do you see what the scene looks like. When Hollywood higgins comes back he would have been the best Hollywood on the field. At least he would have been on the field he he was inactive and he was the best Hollywood one. When did you get Kareem Humpback. Check my moralities doors because as this conflict and as I was all off season I would move as marches into the end zone to give nick job that mastodon of a man a blow. He's coming in to give nick a the he deserves that because that did get loud out around the browns it's been interesting to watch all that stuff the way the off season went where the hype train was out of. Control and then the hype train is out of Control. What you want is either be that good or struggle. Don't be that good and the two losses are just so awful that the noise gets loud fast and it takes us all three games for Rex Ryan to arrive at overrated L. What's great about that team and that quarterback it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if they're wanting to doesn't matter if they're one and he is still going to snap back. I love that about him because he's so competent but then you're like at nine or Seahawks at Patriots. Maybe easiest schedule in the NFL like my really really onto something. Maybe born and fire raised by adversity ending resulting in a super bowl championship. You heard me you heard heard me well. It's GonNa be two and four. Don't you think to enforce after own at forty niners home against what for yeah a home against the seahawks and that New England okay my bad. I'm sorry I thought the New England Games before the Seattle game so they're gonNA get halfway through the season and you want. What obviously you want them to but just to survive live this game did yesterday. I think the National Media Rich Eisen was like this is one of richest locks lower there you gotta take the Ravens in this spot because the browns are terrible yeah Adler. They hardly got talent on that team. I guess you can't have me. Oh man you all a bunch of jokers last week. jokers bike uptown you even if you win one of of the next three you're still sitting in an amazing spot. Pretty Bird catbird me catbird what you'd better not lose because. Oh does not gonNA put up with. This two catches thing for a long time with loss. He'll he'll do it quietly with victory but the two catches things that's not going to Odell Beckham has looked like himself. Dare I say is it fair to say one play. This season is that was and it was a short play. Am I wrong. They hold on to play yesterday. How about the play yesterday. They didn't complete yeah rattling dropped an unbelievable pass from him he he dodged two guys who are trying to sack him. It was a passing play. Beckham was throwing the ball aw he avoided pass rushers and then threw like sixty yards the he commanded so much attention from that Ravens Defense as he should have and this is where it's incumbent coming upon the play caller to make them all right. That's where that Chubb run comes from. They should keep doing stuff like that. Obviously just yeah take. Odell with the spacing take Adele but he's not gonNA put up with decoy for a long time even on touchdowns if they're losing even on even on Chubb touchdowns that are eighty five yards or whatever that one but it's so great to see because his reputation tation it's really unfair because dude is in on every play. He's blocking downfield. He's he's punching dudes. He's an unbelievable football player. Perhaps the greatest we've ever seen. I'm going too far. Yes long ago. "Welcome to Spain. And fits the podcast. Sometimes you find about out about dysfunction in championship culture, and it rocks your world, but other times, you can still find out about this function where it already exists, and you knew it existed, but just reading about it still shakes you to your core. That is where Cleveland Browns fans are right now. Spain and Fitz on ESPN radio the ESPN app. Siriusxm channel eighty Sarah. Spain Jason Fitz. Look, there's one reason everybody wants to talk about the Browns ad nauseam and has because there's this feeling of hope or around the quarterback situation. And there's this feeling that things have gotten better. But there's also this reminder that is much as we want to believe in the hype around Baker Mayfield in the future of the Browns. There is a level of dysfunction that has gotten the franchise to where it is right now Seth Wicker's from does a great job breaking it down. It's on the dot com right now. And when you read the inside story of the Cleveland Browns dysfunction is. Even worse to read than I thought, it would be in my mind yet, you know, I think talking about the dysfunction of the Browns was a bit like rubber necking a car crash over the last however long because it was apparent via their record the turnover at the coaching position. The the the flubs whether they be getting fined for texting on the sidelines or the amount of money that they owed coaches that they had let go mid contract all of it. Now, it feels like this is a particularly interesting dive into an organization because there is hope and because looking at having a resource like Baker Mayfield and looking at having a coach who managed despite all the overwhelming weight of failure. There to look competent to bring them victories to make good on the talent that they had all of those pieces then make this a hopeful time for Browns fans until you question whether or not they can really overcome. What is still a management and organizational? Head that has brought upon himself. And this franchise so much failure of late like has them still there. Right. And so if this what you and I have been talking about we were trying to figure out whether this was a good coaching position that people would want or not sure it looks like it draft picks, Baker, etc. But it's really still a poop Sunday with just a cherry on top until you can figure out whether that stench is gone and whether they've moved into a fully new era. Well, and I think the ownership portion of it is the most defeating portion of it because you we've joked before and really tried to educate people before you can really despise your team's coach your team's GM the players you cannot like your favorite your favorite teams quarterback. You can go across the board and be mad at any of these positions. Knowing full, well, there's an opportunity that it will change. You can't do anything about ownership being bad at their job. And that's what we what I think the deep dive Seth wicker Shim does such a nice job. And he's the guy that sort of broke into so much information around the patriots. And it was it was I opening. It's still I opening when you see what the has the ownership group of the Browns is incapable of doing and sort of the repetition that they go through the cycle. They go through of repeating their own mistakes to appoint that it falls on deaf ears. I mean culture has to be fixed. And I don't know how you fix a culture where the ownership assertive tone deaf to the issue and continues to make the same mistakes. Well, the thing is though fits if you look if you sort of read between the lines here, the aren't the exact same mistakes. What's what's continuous there? And what's consistent is that has them is not willing to see anything through long enough. He's willing to buy into a plan, but not patient enough to see if it pays off an I, of course, totally related when it got to the point where he said he was reaching out to other people who had helped turn around failure or had used rebuilds in in a in a beneficial land. One of them was the with the cubs when deal obscene came in. And and cubs fans knew there was going to be a rebuild. It was inevitable that midway through that a year to win when you're looking at a..

"But I do want to ask you about Louis Shawn McCoy because we are now about twenty four hours from the trade deadline. When he's been officially from concussion protocol is expected to play tonight and other teams have called the Buffalo Bills. And the bills have listened. The problem is the bills still view him as one of their best. If not their best player, he's got another year left in his contract. So if you're the Buffalo Bills, do you wanna go train the Shawn McCoy when he could be a guy who helps Josh Allen next year as will to enlist some team parts with what the bills believe is good pick. They're not going to trade them. And there's not been a team yet to step up to pay the bills are asking. And so right now, barring something changing, it looks unlikely that Leshan McCoy's gonna be dealt. Well, again, four o'clock eastern. That's the end of the league the business day tomorrow. We'll be here all day on NFL. I've watching who's going where and for how much. Our top story this afternoon. Cleveland is fired head coach Hugh Jackson won only three of forty games during his tenure as the Browns head coach. That wasn't the only change though Cleveland also parted ways with offense coordinator tied Haley. He was in his first year in that role with the team. Here's the statement for Brown's odor D And Jimmy has greatly. Appreciate whose commitment at the Cleveland Browns over the last two and a half years. We understand how critical this time period is the dealt in it in the development of our football team individually and collectively and believed it was in the organization's best interest to make the move at this time in order to maximize our opportunities the rest of the season the rounds will hold a press conference that four thirty eastern. But right now it's overreaction Monday. So I'll say this Cleveland should have made this decision after last season. Is this an overreaction this? This is not an overreaction for me. Because. As you move on. You got a new GM John Dorsey you went and found your quarterback of the future. This tenure Ceuta started new all the way around. You should have got a guy that you felt was there to Lee Baker Mayfield found somebody who had a different view a different structure to try to help this team be better. And when you stick with the oath thing win in two years you only win one game. When it's one in fifteen when you last quarterback to win a game is RG three. D you go Owen sixteen the next year coaches don't survive that coaches, don't get talked up to the new GM and may to state. And so for me, this is a decision that has set the Cleveland Browns bake yet again and just showed the ineptitude of this organization that we have seen year after year after year. This is another example of it. I'm never reaction for me. I agree with you Ryan. And I think the other aspect of it is is that when you have the new GM and you have the quarterback don't waste the year. I mean, just I don't know what else to say. Like we're talking about James Winston trying to figure out like, hey was that fifth year option? The right thing that jumps on you quickly in the NFL when you're trying to figure out if your quarterback complain or not don't waste a year. Which is what it feels like they've already done, you know, in terms of what this year is meant for. Baker mayfield. We're at the halfway point and the head coach and the offensive coordinator now gone. And if you make this decision after a game, so and it's not that anybody I think disagrees with you know, how how close were you after by the way one short one way more game. This this. Adam overreaction for you, not an overreaction. This is why they're in the spot. They're in because the new front office on into bring on a new coaching staff ownership stepped in the way, and so you mixed and matched a couple that wasn't going to get along. That was going to go to divorce court at some point in time. And you just happen to be today in October twenty ninth and it'd been building and building and building..

"Day. Another head coaching change in Cleveland, Wendy, next, Adam Schefter, Ryan Clark, and Tim halfback. The Cleveland Browns have fired head coach Hugh Jackson the Browns or two five and one this season. Doubling their win total from his first two seasons with the team Cleveland one in fifteen in who Jackson's first year, Owen sixteen last season education. The Browns have often fired their offensive coordinator Todd Haley, he was in his first year with the team. Cleveland struggled immensely under few Jackson winning just three of its forty games during his tenure. That's the worst win percentage for any team since the start of two thousand sixteen and some have regarded Jackson as an offense of guru with the Brown. Have averaged the fewest points and posted the lowest QBR since two thousand sixteen and had the worst turnover differential in that time wins thirty six losses and one tie. That's the net result few Jackson's tenure as head coach. Greg Williams will serve as a teams. Interim head coach Freddie kitchens will now step in as the offense coordinator since Todd. Haley has also gone in the Browns at will hold a news conference around four thirty eastern. But you, of course, the first to report this news. Well, this is a situation where I think this had been percolating within the building when John Dorsey took over along with Lonzo high Smith and Elliott Wolff in the front office. I think they were ready to make a coaching change at that point, Tom. But I think Jimmy and d has Lum the Browns owners wanted to keep you Jackson on give them a chance to work with the new front office and they've worked together. And I think what happened was this team grew increasingly concerned about the development of Baker Mayfield. And this is a team that basically has regressed they tied the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first game of the season. And then lost it fits Berg in decided fashion. Yesterday, we are aware of some of the dysfunction that went on amongst the coaches themselves were last week. Hugh Jackson came out and said he wanted to take over some of the play calling responsibilities to backtrack. But once he had said it it's. Clear what the dynamic was between. He and Todd Haley to very strong personalities who would depicted. So we'll and hard knocks the some where people got an idea of that relationship. And so the Cleveland Browns decided to make this change you bring up the record there. Wendy of Hugh Jackson, also on the road. Oh and twenty owned twenty how many head coaches would be allowed to coach when you're in twenty before the Browns made the move that they did today. And once again, the Cleveland Browns are situation where they fired another head coach to be paying his salary through the two thousand and nineteen season. And the statistical audit of the whole situation is Hugh Jackson is the sixth straight Browns. Head coach to be fired after the second gay season. Lebron leaving your team you get fired. Yeah. You You don't want don't to wanna play. hear the Browns the second time because somebody's head rolls after that. Right. Are you surprised at the timing of this decision at all you know, what I'm surprised that took this loan? I'm not surprised that they fired him at this juncture of the season. I mean, you're seeing this team move back. This is the team that had some promise when tyrod Taylor was the quarterback. Obviously, you get the the infusion of the energy in the play making Baker Mayfield, you expect this team to progress, and they just have it. And then when you see the infighting between head coach and offense coordinator now, it's ugly off from the field as well. And this was a move that was long overdue now John Dorsey and the has Heslin family can move on and try to find their quarterback. I mean, the pay coach of the future. But also somebody that's going to tutor and bring Baker Mayfield along. So he can beat the franchise quarterback. He was drafted to be. That's true. I don't know how this helps..

"Makes nine hundred thirty seven thousand dollars per game. It's like nine thirty seven, five hundred or something like that. He's essentially played a free game, which is worth a million dollars to him far. Three, seven weeks of the season Browns have overtime addiction. I'm going to do a bit on this later on, oh, but they haven't overtime addiction and they need an intervention because I don't care if you win or lose. I'm not saying you gotta win all these games. Just do it within the forty eight minutes. Like you have serious commitment issues. It make a decision. You're like, Joe who dated his wife for fourteen years before he proposed was like, Joe pistol get off the pot, man. What are you doing here? That's true. Is that true? Any before you got married? No, that's not factually accurate within it was a couple of years that we have in college, so the Browns, they lose another heartbreaker this time Jibril peppers fumbles the ball turns the ball over and then the buccaneers have an easy fifty. Nine hundred field goal to win in overtime, which. Right before they're about to kick that field goal to win. I tweeted out something like they're not gonna kick this field goal. They're going to snap it right to the kicker, and he's gonna punt it because I thought how improbable it would be that kicker after missing an extra point and a field goal already was going to be able to nail a fifty nine yard and had he missed the Browns would have only had to move like twenty yards in order to win this game. But I think this proves a point that we've been talking about a little bit as NFL teams and fans are getting really sick of these overtimes. And these ties that we're seeing more and more often, especially with the short and overtime and coaches are sick of ties. They hate them almost more than losing. So Dirk cutter. The head coach of the buccaneers said, I would rather lose this game than by. So he was like, screw it. I'm gonna kick this fifty nine yarder. I don't care that the chances of him making it are slim, and that wants the Browns, get it. They're probably gonna win this game because there was only like two minutes left and he went for it and, hey, the risk paid off. F- the kicker who cat cat and Zara who'd already missed two times in that game, much easier field goals, a whole living. All of a sudden he has a chance to save his career because he was probably going to be on the unemployment line. Eddie mistreat field goals in an overtime game. They're going to eliminate kicker soon w today than struggling this year. Oh, it's it has not added much value in now to the point and you gotta get Pat. McAfee back on air because it's been. It's been a tough year for I would like to hear his Nick, I'm interested. Why is it our perception, or are kickers actually struggling more this season than they have at any point up until now? I don't know what it is all that golf during training camp in Franken at during meetings that they can do because they don't do anything else with catching that was so well, let's talk a little bit more about the Browns games, a few, the Browns game, a few of the highlights here or lowlights the Browns offense scored zero points in the first half seventy four yards on offense. And they had only two points which was a safety on defense. On right now. It seems like the Browns have regressed since Baker came in and let the world on fire against the jets and then followed it up with another great performance. These struggle in the last couple of games and their offense really hasn't been able to get ending going in the first half Ian tire season. So hawk from your perspective, what is going on with the Browns offense? We probably should've kept Josh Gordon. I'm gonna put it out there like that. But players standpoint from a just a fear standpoint alone, I get the situation in again. I'm not saying that he's not better off New England. Obviously, he's doing well with the greatest quarterback of all time. I'm not saying that overtime. We're not going to be better off here in Cleveland with having. Finally, you know, cut the cord, but when you're looking at offense and we're just talking Xs and os, Josh Gordon's strikes fear in defense is that opens everything up. I think Antonio Calloway will get their. He's young..
