"Don't you? Just love Broward County Broward County, you've got the best in sheriff's you have the best in election supervisors you have the best in school boards. Boy, Broward County, you ought to be mighty proud. She is she might want to remove the Broward County election supervisor from her linked in profile pretty soon effect. She might want to just delete her profile altogether while she's at it, maybe a name change because things aren't really going. Well, for Brenda Snipes all signs are now pointing towards Snipes getting removed from office by governor, Rick Scott or his likely successor. Rhonda Santa's that is if Florida ever finishes counting votes or or. Or or or counting hands? I don't know if they're doing a show of hands. Now, however, Florida does its elections now every day, it seems to be more and more like a Dave berry novel down in Florida. So I I'm not really sure how they do it. But they should finish pretty soon. Florida's in the middle of three statewide recounts for the US Senate and governor's races. Plus the one that really has the nation on the edge of its seat. The state agriculture Commissioner how is that one gonna land? You know, it's bad when Democrats start losing support from fellow Democrats as Snipes has one state Senate democrat who declined to be named told politico, he hopes nights Snipes quicks. He hopes Snipes will quit soon. Quote, otherwise, she's a goner and quote now she is Cusack. A laundry list of knows including a twenty sixteen mailing that went out to an unknown member of absentee ballots that left off the proposed state constitutional amendment ups. I forgot to include that constitutional amendment thingy. Sorry about that. Also in two thousand sixteen she posted early voting numbers online half an hour before the polls closed half an hour before the polls close when that happened before in Florida, and it caused some I remember the two thousand election. Well, wide learned from that. She also was opening ballots in private what could happen after last week's election in the middle of the night, her office, suddenly uploaded, tens of thousands of new ballots that caused governor Scott's Marge. To fall below half a percent lead in his Senate race against Bill Nelson that triggered a manual recount. But who doesn't upload thousands of new voters, you know, after the election. There's a lot more problems with Broward County elections office. But we only have three hours if nothing else it is clear that Snipes is guilty of extreme incompetence with the missed deadlines discovering ballots in the couch cushions as county election supervisor. You know, you really only have to prepare one big event, you know, every two years, it's it's kind of like Santa Claus screwing up Christmas. And he takes every other Christmas off. "Back with this. Breaking news. The recount they've been conducting right here in Broward County will no longer count. Because the numbers were submitted two minutes past the deadline on the original though totals will now be the baseline the manual recount will proceed, but it's a twist in quite a story today. A federal judge said Florida was the laughing stock of the world election after election, and we chose not to fix this, quote, even more apt, given the breaking news tonight. Of course, this recount is the first time since the two thousand recount and for reporters anchors and many others who've covered both stories. This is deja vu. All over again. The state of Florida racing. Dick, complete a recount trying to process the more than eight million votes. Cast by the Thursday deadline, Florida where the ballots will now be counted by hand with the Senate vote way down the bottom line punch-card machines are not that effective. They're racing against the clock in Florida to finish recounts. All depends on a recount in the state of Florida. And there you have it. I'm joined by man at the center of the recount in the state of Florida governor, Rick Scott, senior campaign adviser Brad taught right here with me bad taught and Alex Harris, a reporter for the AMI herald who was in there with this breaking news. What did you see right? Absolutely stunning news. We heard today we had been sitting there. We had just gotten the newest that they had made it. They were fifteen minutes ahead of deadline. They were ready to go and submit results. Two hours later, they came back and said, actually, just kidding. We were two minutes lead. Because the person who is in charge of submitting results did not know how to work the website. So now the entire week's worth of counting and recounting is they had the numbers, and they say that the official in there who's actually just putting them up just hadn't had enough practice on the website rent. He said it was a user error. He couldn't didn't know how to work the website, and none of the results count because what was the mood in there. When that news broke Josh's dropped that entire room was just stunned even the lawyers didn't know what to say your candidate male timidly win here. And yet he has really sort. Embarrassed himself by saying all these things that aren't true by alleging that this process was going to hurt him, in fact, before these numbers were just cancelled as we heard the democratic margin was decreased, wait a minute. Or, you know, every time when you're a kid, and you said the dog ate my homework the dog, really never ate your homework, and they really didn't have this issue of two minutes ahead of time. What happened was Rick Scott gained seven hundred seventy nine votes in Broward County, and they decided maybe that's not a good thing. Let's go the other way for any part of you're you sound like you're candidate. You're saying something do you have any evidence you can offer any specific of the day? And now nature of this show. She's a partisan democrat. She's made strings of mistakes. And this time they all benefited, but I'm not gonna mess all benefit have been covering Brenda sites problems. We're all over that. She got artisan mistakes. Making you if you have any evidence that this was a political operation with regard to the two minutes. Fifteen minutes ahead of time. She says they can outs the count two minutes ahead of time. She goes boy. I sure I'm proud of us how we made it we made it we're so proud of ourselves. Suddenly now after seven hundred seventy nine votes the biggest differential in Scott's favour of any county in sixty seven counties in Florida. And they say, oh, no the dog ate my homework that dog never eat your homework. Did you find when you were inside there any evidence that the two minute air was a way to try to deprive? Rick Scott of votes to me. It seems like why would they do all of that work just to be barest?.

"Last time she said, the water's warm, I think it was directed at herald sore junior, and she certainly had the votes then and she does know how to count let me play for you, my colleague, Rachel Maddow, asking a question that I think dovetails with your argument, which is if the house did so well, why is there talk about replacing Nancy Pelosi at all when the Senate Democrats didn't do as well. Take a look. So a lot of things are sort of percolating even even boiling over all at once today. House. Democrats made noise about the possibility of choosing someone other than Nancy Pelosi to be the democratic leader and the speaker of the house in the new democratic controlled congress. This of course, it'd be a classic Democratic Party move. Right. I mean, the party loses seat loses seats in the Senate. And so they make zero changes to their Senate leadership. A congresswoman would you say that if there's a change we made it would start with Schumer and not Pelosi. Why would it be Nancy Pelosi? She has the votes we're talking about a very small rump group within the caucus that is saying that they will deprive Nancy Pelosi of being the speaker of positions. She so well deserves and has done so well and have really not a candidate to replace her. So it's a creation of utter chaos at this moment, we wanna be going ahead, and she wants to be going ahead with an agenda to bring more healthcare to lower the cost of prescription drugs. She has talked about this agenda through the campaign, and even now Nancy Pelosi is focused on what we're gonna do when she is speaker, and we have this majority. It's really astounding to me and very frustrating that this small group tried to take that away. And I do think that there's a bit of sexism here. You know, there's a a trending hashtags five white guys and the their effort to take this away from her when she would be the only woman at the small table with the top leaders in our country. I think that's important in and of itself. And what specifically do you see as the sex sexism, the notion that she has a good record? And she is being challenged in a way that Chuck Schumer is a a male democrat is not or something else that that you know, about from within the caucus. That's a concern. You know, even age is is is raised. You know with men it seems that the more the older, you get the more experienced you're considered with women. It's more like now, it's time for you to move out and move out. And I resent that. Yeah. All fair points. David jolly your view. I do think it's time for change. Look, I'm not inside the democratic caucus. I'm no longer Republican. I just think that after an election, whatever your change. What are you at this independent? I I'm just putting my my analysts had on and suggested that I'm surprised after this election. I think there's an opportunity missed for democrat Democrats, not reaching for change. And what I mean by that is the inspiration seemed to come from Beto, it came from Guillemette came from Abrahams and the leadership team of ten years ago surprises me, and and what I what I would let me put you on that briefly, David..

"Breaking news out here in Broward County. And I mean, breaking we just got this Broward County now admits they submitted their recount numbers, two minutes late and thus under the rules. The results apparently will not count. I want to tell you exactly what that means the entire developments the drama the protests, the counting everything that's been going on behind me last few days. According to this breaking news tonight that would be for nothing because the state is going to use the original vote totals wall. This manual recount proceeds under state law can't make it up now. Well, the situation here in Florida gets more chaotic by the day, and we're going to have more on that throughout our our. We're not ignoring of course, a lot of the national developments. The Blue Wave here is clearly growing as an epic review of Donald Trump today another democrat flipping a Republican held seat. This is Jared golden beating an incumbent Republican in Maine and has tonight that means. Kratz have solidified a net gain of thirty five seats in the house the most in four decades, and that number itself could continue to grow as this counting continues the party. Meanwhile, debating how to go forward and congresswoman, Marcia fudge emerging as a potential challenger to Nancy Pelosi's bid to be speaker. Once again, she says she's been overwhelmed by support. She's getting Pelosi responded today with this. Today house. Yes. Say to everybody come on in the water's warm. I'm joined now by democratic congresswoman Jan Schakowsky of Illinois. He's backing Pelosi. She's on the leadership team as chief deputy whip as well as David jolly, a former Republican congressman from Florida. Congresswoman, I'm and go to you in one second. But given this breaking news, congressman jolly your view of your great state, not counting the Broward recount on a two minute technicality. And you know, you can't make it up. I think after this where we're going to have to visit election reform here in Florida. But what it all comes down to for Senator Nelson is whether or not the undercounts in Broward hold enough votes for him. That's really what is going to come down to. We'll see during the hand recount in the next forty eight hours. Congresswoman Schakowsky, I have my good news for you is we didn't book to talk about Florida's problems. And I'm not gonna ask you about them at this juncture. But I, but I will ask you about this leadership team many people in the Democratic Party excited about this four decade level historic endorsement from the American public over a seven point margin. But as you know, a debate about Nancy Pelosi, what is the argument for her to be speaker once again and not say as some other Democrats arguing that she's done a fantastic job. But there's always room for new voices. You know, Nancy Pelosi is responsible as anyone for this Blue Wave for making it happen. She's such an operational person hard worker made sure that she went to just about every state in every district and raise money and along with Ben Ray Luhan are d triple C chair made this victory possible. And it's just a standing to me that anyone within the democratic caucus said a moment of great victory and opportunity would want to unseat this wonderful woman who as the speaker of the house the last time actually brought us the kind of healthcare that millions of Americans are benefit benefiting from right now. And I am really disturbed that you know, if there's another name, then let's have a vote. That's what Nancy was referring to in that clip come on come to the caucus put your name out there. And I assure you that Nancy Pelosi would overwhelm. Dingley win and will win the vote within the caucus. Well, I remember the.

"Are playing public relations game attempting to convince their supporters. They will be victorious. But Bill Nelson needs to do. Now is what he would be asking me to do if I if I lost the election is say, look, you know, the election happened that's go forward. But he's not governor Rick Scott, who's leading by just about twelve thousand votes believes he has won a senior campaign official says he will travel to Washington this week and play the role of Senator elect attending a photo op on Capitol Hill in participating in leadership elections. He's filed several lawsuits at as governor. He's called on law and. Forcement and attorney general Pam Bondi to keep watch on the recount Scott's opponent Bill Nelson, beliefs Scott, the governor should not be involved in election. Where Scott the candidate is running given his efforts to undermine the votes of Floridians. This is the only way that we can ensure the people's votes are protected. Meanwhile, the recount moves along in massive, Miami Dade County election workers must work twenty four hours a day to get done on time in Palm Beach county, a spot of concern the supervisor of elections once thought they might not be done on time. She changed her to confident. At least the Senate race would be done. The Senate race has the best chance of flipping a recount. But if it happened it would be unprecedented the governor's race while in a recount is very unlikely to change with a three thousand vote margin. And as a result, the candidates are acting much different Andrew gillum, the democratic nominee not promising a new result. But fouling. To make sure every vote is counted and perhaps auditioning for his next act. I'm simply here to say that for the votes that had been cast. They ought to be county. And the Republican candidate Ron Santa's casting himself as governor elect staying above the fray, making only one tape public statement and not appearing in public since election night. Ryan nobles reporting a flurry of lawsuits are being prepared by both parties in Florida Republican lawsuits designed to preserve the initial vote lawsuits by the dams mainly designed to expand the pool of available available votes at eighteen till jimbohannon has more. Well, even without hanging. Chads Florida's managing to do it again. And so we will talk about that with the Mark laudner. Former press secretary to vice President Mike Pence former special assistant to President Trump and a spokesman for the Republican on the Florida vote count. I believe there is now a person who was a temporary worker in the Broward County elections office who says she saw members of the staff of filling out ballots. She has since been fired and told not to. Return? But I believe she is actually signed an affidavit to that effect. The word that comes out of Broward County just continues to be very concerning. The good thing is despite all of this shenanigans. And and just incompetence that we've seen governor Scott continues to lead in that Senate race and Rick desanta continues to lead in the governor's races. As we head into that recount, obviously leader not as big as they were originally on election night. But very confident that they will hold up, and they will they will move on to be a servant those new offices in the other Senate race, which on election night looked like it was a Republican hold in Arizona now Republican congresswoman Martha mcsally has conceded to democratic congresswoman Kirsten cinema in Arizona. So that's one seat that will be a democratic seat to after all, and that leaves us, of course with with the Georgia governor's race. Right. Yes. And and the good thing in that race is that raises actually a very strong. In the hands of Brian camp right now, it is outside of the margin necessary for an automatic recount, and Brian is moving forward with his transition plans. And it's really again, just shameful that you have the democrat candidate Abrahams who refuses to concede after you've got now here five days after the election. It was originally called shortly thereafter, the margin is outside of that window for a recount, but they're still doing everything they can just try to scrape and find votes that may that don't exist. It just shows much like what we saw back in two thousand sixteen as much as you have, you know, Debbie Wasserman Schultz out there who Rick day primary for Hillary Clinton when she was DNC chair to now she's claiming about, you know, the president not wanting votes counted and things like that. This is a this is a party rejected the twenty sixteen presidential election outcome, they want it just throw it sale with all the Russians fault. But now here they want to believe. That there's no corruption and shenanigans going on in in Florida, and in some cases, Georgia's well, do we have any idea when this vote count is going to be over in Florida? And I think Thursday is the official deadline, but haven't we already heard from Broward County that no it won't be ready by then. Yeah. Again, it's like every time there is a deadline set whether it was on election night, whether it's under court order, you have the Broward County executive that just keeps pushing it back saying, they don't they aren't gonna meet the deadline. They can't meet the deadline. The law says by Thursday, I believe at one o'clock she's already saying that she's not gonna meet that. So you have to wonder what's going on when even former governor Jeb Bush, the man who appointed the Broward County election supervisor following the incompetence of the previous one even saying that she's got to go. She's been found to have destroyed. Loyd ballots in twenty sixteen. So you just don't know what's going on in their. Yes. The track record certainly for that office and Brenda Snipes. This individual is pretty amazing. And so I I have to ask why is this person not gone? I mean, Rick Scott is still the governor and will be I guess till January. Why is she not gone and beyond that why is she not being prosecuted, maybe at the state as well as the federal level. Well, I think those are things that could come in due time. You know, we are in the middle of a recount right now we are in the middle of of getting these these ballots in the in the final tally certified. So we need to let the system play out. I was very encouraged today. Judge in Florida ordered the Broward County sheriff's office to basically stationed deputies in the Broward County election areas that do not report to the supervisor. So that they report directly. Outside. So we have some sort of independent verification that there's no illegal activity or improper activity taking place because up until now the only people that were watching security where people who were reported directly to that election supervisor. And I think the history shows that we just can't trust that done fairly Mark laudner. "Take a look at the total dishonesty of what happened with respect to Broward County Broward has a decades old history of sluggish vote-counting remember two thousand but congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who represents a large part of Broward County is a former National Democratic Party chair. She scoffs at the president's claim her party is trying to rig the Senate and gubernatorial elections, let's remember that the president said after his own election that there were three million votes in California that were illegally cast without any evidence whatsoever. And so here we go again, it's grossly irresponsible and completely inaccurate absolutely untrue. A recount of ballots by machine must be completed by Thursday and provisional ballots examined by hand must be done over the weekend with a final tally late. So. Sunday. Bob Costantini, Washington. And so we will talk about that in the course of the program leading off tonight with the Mark laudner. And I think that history shows that we just can't trust that to be done fairly. Is there some problem inherent in Florida? Is it technology is that people is it procedure. I mean, of course, those of us have memories of the year two thousand and the hanging Chad debacle. What's what Florida? You gotta wonder, but the one thing I'd say is that I mean, there are sixty seven counties in Florida sixty five of them got their vote count done. The Mets are mandated deadlines for reporting vote totals, and how many votes it was really just Palm Beach county and Broward County to democrat bastions in that state, especially Broward County that is just now flouting the law at every stretch, including ignoring court orders, you have to wonder what's going on there at some point. You think that the state is going to have to take a look at it? What is the the federal role here? Obviously the president's very concerned, obviously, you are keeping an eye on this. I understand that there's an army of lawyers that are standing by. Florida election races, the the lawyer full employment act of twenty eight gene. But what's what's next? However, this turns out there are a lot of lawsuits that have been filed will there be efforts at prosecution of what would be the game plan here. Well, there could be and obviously if a judge decides that the supervisor defied a court order, they could hold them in contempt and and take punitive actions against the original question, and this has always been a delicate balancing, and I'll tell you most of my public career has been spent in state and local government prior to joining the president and the vice president in twenty sixteen elections are run by the states, and they are very protective of their state bunch in in running elections across the nation, and while the federal government, they always want money, and we do offer partnership on cybersecurity and other technical kind of security measures. The state are very are very vocal in they run their own elections. And they don't want the federal government to take them over. But I'll tell you we keep seeing, you know, issues like what we see coming up here in Florida, and Georgia and other places where you've seen pockets of problems. It might be something where the federal government's going to have to take a greater role as especially when it comes to federal elections. Barked lottery.
