"Come like how is that going to end again didn't know you get there and then you're like, okay it's done is done to a state where I'm going to set it aside. And then when I come back like you said the emotional attachment is not quite as great much more objective and you're one step closer to a big fish product because now you can edit those pages because words are on them. You have something that you can start polishing. Yes, and I know I've I was like a lot of people I didn't want to cut things out like oh, I love that scene. But when I got objective, I'm like, yeah, that doesn't work. It doesn't fit could be better. I held onto it and I ended up putting it somewhere else and it worked much better elsewhere. So you can recycle this stuff and I wrote down for a mastermind group. I mean, I wrote a short story for that and I liked the short story, but I didn't know what I wanted to do with it. So I took the premise of the short story changed it a little bit to fit into a fantasy characters world and I wrote a short the same type of short story with the characters from that world and recycled it that way. So it's it's a matter of letting go off thinking it's golden words and you know what's best for the story itself. And again, you have to get the experience to even feel that cuz a year ago, I wouldn't have even understood what that meant dead. As much as I do now, right, right and I think I think too the more you write the more you understand what you need to keep and what you really do just have to come down. There was a decent amount of cutting I did on adventures when I wrote it and there were certain things in like I really don't want to get rid of this that it really does not make sense in an order. I was just kind of say, you know, tightening and polishing and making sure that the pacing is good. It's something to look at and the pacing really for new writers is about making sure that your story holds the reader's attention and gives just that balance of right amount of detail with right amount of movement and that's something that I still work with but I recognize it now a lot more and it just comes with experience and also saying know what I probably just need to highlight those five hundred words and hit delete because they need to go. Yeah. I've done that so much more lately and Thursday. Stories have felt so much better to me for being able to do that. And now it's a lot easier. I'm not as afraid to cut words cuz I can just write more often is not a limited supply of words. Exactly. I think we also learn as we go along what's important to the story what's important to the reader? Maybe we don't use it. Like you said in this story We tweak it and we use it off or else as an idea. And again, that's right part of writing and allowing yourself to say, there's no one right way to do this. Sometimes I'll just throw things in a Word document be like, I don't want to forget that but I can't use that here and then just save it the point you just went over. Do you have that as a document on your website that people could get to you know, I don't would it be helpful for me to understand that as a document to you to include in your podcast or yeah, that would be great. I'm sure people would love that. Okay, I will absolutely do that. So to finish things up. Do you have any last minute advice for new Authors other than all that you've already given us? I would say to just not get overwhelmed. Don't worry about the whole I need to do this website thing..

"I love it. It's so good and then we get some friends and family to look it over and then like yeah, this is great. I love this. Thank you wash it really helped and then they put it out there and other people start reading it going. Yeah. This is a bunch of garbage. Then it hurts your self-esteem. You quit writing. It's a bad cycle. I think for me that's the advice I would give others is your writing isn't a golden honorific just sings to the angels. It's words on a page and if you keep a dog Mine and understand that you can change them then it's not as fearful to get that feedback from other people and I much prefer finding the people that were read my writings. Yeah, that's kind of boring or yeah, this word doesn't work for me or you know, hey, you really messed up on a lot of commas here. Whatever the feedback is. I'd rather get that from people. I know and trust that are trying to help me rather than just have people tell me. Yeah, this is great and everybody else thinks it sucks. Yeah, I think that's that's super super valid and I always go to that when I was finished with adventurers and I had beta readers and I knew one of them she actually told me on the version that is not in print anymore because I fixed it. She put the book down and finish it and I'm like, okay, that's that's horrifying to me like that. I have to fix so while it was hard to hear that I'm like this is going to make the book better off. And that's why we have to remember first drafts. Also who you choose as first readers is to really encourage them.

"Work the first five times because it is going to evolve sit down just write some words get going experiments. I would say experiment Labs experimenting is probably the best advice and then also trying to write regularly thinking about your story maybe thinking about your story even only one to two scenes, So when you show up at that page the next time at least you have something to start with you don't necessarily need to build Rome all in one day just start and I see a lot of times online especially people asking questions. Well, what should I do? Should I do this or should I do that? Should I write it this way? Should I get this thing and people are like, oh no, no do it this way do it this way, and I'm usually like yeah, why don't you try all of it and see what works for you. Maybe what really is best for you is some combination more of thing a and a little bit of thing be but dead. Somebody else might be more thing be you really have to try at all to discover what works or at least look at what already works for you and build upon that say, well, I you know based on how I am with doing household chores or my job at work or you know taking care of the kids. I normally like this type of thing. So look at what life offers that as a writer what you know, is it getting up early like you said and writing or are you better at taking a couple of minute break at lunch and scribbling some things down, you know wage are valid but they work for different types of people. Yes agreed and that's why experimenting is so important and also being nice to yourself and knowing that it may take you a little while to figure out what's going to work. And then also I would say no that is something to try and that it may change honestly with every book depending on what type of book you're writing down. The worst thing is to get stressed about thinking I'm not writing enough. I'm not writing correctly. I'm not writing the right way or whatever and then your words reflect it. It's very difficult to write when your mind is stress and cycling on problems.

"Really as far as I've gotten I use Excel honestly to make spreadsheets to keep track of where I am with some of my chapters into work out where I'm going with my chapters when I wrote Adventures of an urban Homesteader, I completely passed it off. It was more of a flow chart type of thing versus like a strict 0.1 on the outline point two on the outline and I have a different process in place right now for a fiction book writing and I'm loving the process but it's very different and I'm tweaking it as I go. So my tools really are pretty basic. I think that's a great for people to hear cuz I think sometimes Just authors feel. Oh, you know if I just write on a yellow pad that's not real writing, you know, people have done that for hundreds of years and I think and I've talked to enough ought to know that everybody has slightly different things. They do. I know some people that use word and have like word skills that are like Way Beyond me with doing wage sidebar navigation and being able to jump around on like whoa, that's way too much. So I think like we were talking a minute ago. Sometimes we hear this advice and then we get all upset like, oh, I'm not doing that. I must not be doing it, right, you know, everybody does a different do what feels right exactly and in all honesty the first ideas that I had for books and authors good deal of Adventures of an urban Homesteader were written by hand in a notebook scribbled down quite honestly when I had a corporate job and then I would come home and put it into my computer so long It's I would say if somebody tells you that there is one way to write a book. You should thank them and probably back away, right? There are so many different ways to do it and we do get I think sometimes so caught up in what is the right way and the right way may mean what is right for you and then taking taking what works for you and then leaving the rest and Mish mashing it all together simply to get the draft done. I mean, I've heard stories people that can write for fifteen minutes on their lunch break down and they write it on index cards and have to take it home and then put it into something else. So you anything Works. Yes. There are people to have trouble with their hands thoroughly have to record it into their phone. Yeah. I know people that go on walks and we'll record it and they'll email it to themselves. That's how they get it to email it. I think There's enough tools that everybody can find what works for them agreed for your book. What are you doing to Market it? So what I will be doing to be very honest, I don't plan to continue to write in the romance genre. So I didn't do a lot of marketing on adventures. My upcoming plan for my micro Memoir is to do Amazon as and then to also to do a just regular advertising on BookBub. Not one of their featured deals, but just using their regular advertising platform and why did you choose to go with those instead of other millions of choices wage kind of millions of choices. I found first of all because I know Amazon Amazon really does have the share of the market and I thought that would be a good skill to learn going forward page also because book Bob really is about readers. It's focused on readers who like a good new release or like a good deal..

"I live in Suburban Denver. So the local bookstore that I go to is Tattered Cover. And it's been on the scene for like fifty years here in the Denver area. Nice. I love bookstores that have a quirky little flavor to them. Yeah. It's kind of an institution here. Okay. So Brooke to finish up our talk about your writing tell people why you think they should get your book The Adventures of an urban Homesteader if I'm not really looking for a laugh and you enjoy romantic comedy focused really on a quest of is she going to achieve the Independence that she wants in the areas of her life and is quite she's quite frankly going to survive living in Montana after having lived in San Francisco. Really? It's just a light-hearted way to find beachy read that will transport you for awhile, and hopefully leave you just really satisfied with the ending. Nice nice. This just popped into my head. So do you would you pictures This book as being a movie or a TV show. Oh, wow. That's an interesting question. I would say. Off the top of my head. It strikes me more as a movie versus a TV show, but I could see where things could be episodic with her various quests in life. But yeah, we around just hilarity of adulting really. Well, you know, you could always push people that if they like Bridget Jones Diary read this. Yeah, it's just different in in some ways. But if you like diary forum and you're really on that quest for Independence and trying to see if she actually pulls off the trifecta in trying to adult life definitely so yes, well tell us again the name of the book where to get it and if you have a website where people can find you. Yes, so the name of the book is Adventures of an urban Homesteader and my website is w w w Brooke Davis rights and Brooke is spelled. With any you can get it there. You can also get it on Amazon Kobo Apple Barnes and Noble and Google and I do have I appreciate I do have both print and wrote a book editions available. Nice. Let me ask a lot of people don't do print nowadays. Why did you choose to do print I think because I'm one of those readers who likes them look in my hand if I'm reading generally I'm reading from a paperback or a hard back in all honesty. And I also think that as a new author I really just wanted the experience of holding that hot little bulge in my hand and saying I did this because it's a big deal. It takes a long time. It's quite the journey and at the end of the day you really sometimes just want to have that thing. You can hold in your hand and say look what I did and that's a very valid. I think a lot of authors liked that tactile. Hey, I have an accomplishment. I agree. It's it's not as fulfilling birth. Put up a digital bunch of zeros and ones. It's really not. I mean, it's it's so awesome and amazing that we can do what we do now as writers, but there's still something about holding that book in your great. Well Brooke, I appreciate you taking a couple of moments to talk about your book today and we are going to continue in a moment with the second half where we talked about getting it done. So thanks for being on today. Thank you. Thank you for listening to discovered wordsmiths come back next week and listen to another author discuss the road. "So I think I had to think about that for a while when you had you had studied that question. I'm like, hey, I did this happen really what happened was the first thing that I wrote that probably will not see the light of day was very heavy and very serious and pig Emotionally draining to write and I realized afterwards I'm like, I need to write something fun and lighthearted that is going to make me laugh that it's going to make people laugh. And so that's how they came about and I've been to Bozeman many times. I've been going up there with my family and on my own since the early nineties late eighties, and I'm like, I think I can write about this well enough to know the town and also from this point of view of saying these are some things that can happen along the way that could be really fun and educational and enlightening to this character. So like a lot of wage authors you wanted a book that resonated with you which would then resonate with others. But also if it wasn't out there then you might as well be the one to write it down, right and I knew my writing it in Diary form, which it is in it would be a little different but I I also had that concern of this cannot be Bridget Jones diary and it's not so that wage. Now is definitely a consideration of saying this needs to be different Kendall. Whitney's journey is different than British journey in many ways. And so I had that in mind as well, but mostly it was about tell fun and light-hearted story that moved along with relatable characters. People are like, oh yeah, that's probably happened to me that was embarrassing that again type of thing in this is traditionally published or you published it yourself. I did self publish this one. Did you consider trying to traditional publish or did you always want to publish it yourself? I always wanted to self publish this one..

"Your full-time or do you have a day job, you know writing is dead would I would like for it to be my full-time? It is not quite full time yet. I also have a certificate in Wellness coaching. So that's what I do along with writing several things together. What made you decide to start writing, you know writing is always been an outlet for me just really of thoughts and emotions. I have been journaling for a long time. And I know that writing a book is is very much not the same but it was really about getting thoughts and feelings out to work them out. And then I really started wondering, you know, could I write an entire book off? Is that something that I could pull off or would it be horrible or could I actually make something into a book that I would be proud of? And it kind of just went from there and I because I am so very creative. I think that's where it came from. It just really was an outlet for that creativity that I wasn't really able to express thoughts as part of someone who was doing a more analytical job in finance. And so like a lot of authors using writing to get your thoughts and feelings out and kind of felt a pool towards writing. Absolutely and I think it has to do with the story time. That is one of the most important things in writing is that that ability to tell a story and to not only like it yourself but to say wow with somebody else benefit from this, you know, could they be amused or transported or whatever regardless of genre? I think that storytelling is the most exciting part in putting those pieces together as a writer. It's just become more fun and more engaging to me as I've gone along. Okay, I like that and I think a lot of writers share that Viewpoint did you say how long have you been writing?.

"To kill everybody, and that includes all humanity. Well, let's Zzyzx sincerely. I sincerely doubt that she said that But again the question Well, okay. You heard her. But I sincerely doubt that the question The question is, Would she take it position? Would she? Would she take a position in a Biden administration? I would guess is she probably would If you became aware that she said that would you be critical of her yelling fire in a crowded movie? First of all, I don't believe she said that you know, Elizabeth Warren is a really smart lady. I mean, I had a call someone in a law firm that I did some work for who had her as a professor at Harvard. And she said she was one of the smartest and the best professors he had at Harvard. So she is a very smart lady at would not surprise me. Can be smart. I'm not a smart person is not going to say something like that. No, that's you know, I mean, you heard it, probably on one. There's a lot of places where those kinds of things are supposed to occur, but no Elizabeth Warren Whether she's gonna be on the selected for the cabinet, and when she take it, I have no clue. And would you be critical if she did say? Well, I don't because I would I'd be critical of is the context in which it was said the fact that she would say something like that is just so far off the charts. Brad, I just not going to buy that. I just I'm not me. Well, what do you condemn remarks like that? Absolutely, I do. But the fact is the fact is, they have to be credible. Remember? That's the first there has to be based on facts. Not just now. What about the I want to change the Dominion Software? They were in charge of counting the votes and quite a few states. And it's now coming out that when you click for Mr Trump it credited Mr Biden with that vote. Actually, actually, the fact is that now every state in the country has to use paper ballot. They're there. Every state uses paper ballots, so there's no opportunity to quote unquote click for defer for Trump and have it come out as Biden Those kind of that software is in the past. But every state now is literally mandated to use paper ballots to at least so that there's a backup. So let's that's a million software. Used in Venezuela. To put that dictator in power. Well, it's not what that's just that system voted in Maryland. Well, I colored in the block the circle for Mr Trump. If that wasp Now we're if that was software, which was intentionally designed, you know that if they result, friend just have to read Trump and credit by bread bread. Every single person who has looked at this thing at in terms of legislations and election it, folks. And in every state have said that there is no evidence of fraud in Thies this election so that that they haven't looked at the evidence. Yes, they have brought bread. I appreciate the call, but that's not. That's not evidence that's not based on facts and when they presented in the courts, the courts have rejected it as bogus. So that's just not fax. Anyway, so that we're not going to go there anymore because the fact is that Biden won and a fair and square election. This was as HHS know. Ahh, the head of HHS. Who, by the way did you heard of the leading He's now been determined to be in office illegally because they didn't follow procedures. But he said that this was the most secure election in the history in modern history. And again. Part of the reason is because 2016 was so had some money problems. They were every agency was alerted to the nature of the problems. And so this was a very fair election. There was an election and the winner was Joe Biden, End of discussion. You can have any kind of argument you want. But the facts are the Joe Biden won and every single attempt by the Republicans to go to court and have it challenged has been thrown out. Anyway, sit. It is okay, Let's go. Let's switch subjects for just a second and talk about the riots or the protests and things that probably better term in Washington. Welcome to the show, Professor. Good evening. Yeah. These people, they're continuing call hub. But this was fixed in that was. It's not just this election any election. You got proof? Well, uh, yeah, well, you know, that's the court if you got the proof. Well, you know that if you were listening last week, Thank you. Were that my have my my expert on And that's what he said. He said. If if you want it for to litigate, you have to have three things. You have to have a theory, and their theory is that there's been that that's been corrupt. And it's all this voter fraud in all that. The second thing you need this fax And everything. And the third one is you have to have a remedy at every single case has been presented in court. Every single one has been rejected. Because the fax don't back it up. You always hear the word sure is probably one of the shortest words in the English language. If yes, if this if that So hold war. No, I agree. There is no if here there you know that Raymond Donovan when he was secretary of Labor under under Reagan when Reagan was shot. They choose right back, especially the press. They accused Raymond Donovan, who was a contractor in New York, abandon with the mob. So he resigned because regular condition that is it. He took it they took in the court. OK, it's what he was found Innocent. All charge. Understand? Came down those steps and all this gang of reporters who wanted his hide one at first. It's two past they weren't going to give them to friends. Well, the fact is that, yeah, go to get my reputation if I understand I'm ever but it's far is that this election is concerned. This election has been is is this fair as we have had, and I don't know that all that. Oh, it is. It is. I mean, that's all The wasn't scared everything. Brooke Davis. Well, I know, but but, you know, the fact is that there were representatives for the Republican Party and the Democratic Party at In the in the polling booths toe monitor those They were representatives, the Republican and the Democratic Party at the counting centers for before the elections, and they were able to observe them..

"This guy he's got he's Tan. Yeah so he's you know he's very he's a settlement. Why would he was verified and instagram? Which is as somebody who's verified and in okay? I don't take advantage of that. No you're not you're you're very humbled by it. You serve it more than you take. 'em Like look at the picture this old building. We've got a look at it. Yeah exactly all right in another instagram clip. That was viewed. At least one million times he displayed a pill and said it makes it impossible to contract the disease for those who have tested positive. I'm also really worried. That these pills. And these whatever's in the syringe are paying like hurtful like the guy that what did he eat like. There was some some person that took some medicine and died in Muslims malaria. Or it's like what does even. Okay let's it's a hoax. It's fake but what is even in their cooking the stuff up in like a big tin drum outside of his. I honestly hope it's something that's just. It's just a water pill or placebo me to that. Bet that's where I hope. Here's a little more from the scripture of Keith Lawrence. Imagine mentioned that his middle may see the Warrenton. Oh sophisticated and middlebrook definitely is last name. Yes I've developed a cure for the krona virus cove nineteen that's period after six weeks of intense focus and development six weeks but but intense focus. He's not talking. He wasn't like being diverted by instagram. He was letting other people he was eating. His sleeves rolled up. Yeah exactly. He was having lean cuisines. Not Bothering cooking probably shower. That much focused Tan was very uneven focus and development and development and he's very little sleep. What probably because cain cocaine that guy in all you know. That guy smells awful. He's probably eighty five percent. Admiral that's generous you. I would say it's more cocaine. I'm currently going to mass production the CDC the WHO and mainstream media capitalized right have created a pandemonium environment. Just zero it's pandemonium is Great. It's like I'm reading a breaking news piece in the New York Times to answer this just because it's what I do. I've created corona virus prevention pill after three days of taking the person is immune to the virus and stays immune as long as they continue to take it once a day in the morning. You can't so I took it after ten. Am What's morning? Do we know a morning is is it? Is it like a list if you live in the nightlife if I'm at a hotel it's like? Is it the time where I get my continental breakfast? And that's like six minutes is seen or is it more like a relaxed like ten thirty hours. He's probably bearing the body of processing time. Just get all boy and also the cove in one thousand nine formula vaccine cure to satisfy physiological and psychological need at large what high why why the psychological war weren't so you know what. I mean like vagueness based on his youtube videos Keith. Middlebrook doesn't believe the current ivars outbreak is a real threat of course He's anyway committed. Anyway it's like listening to the two of you might have grace of God go i. Yeah he accused the centers for the CDC and the World Health Organization W And the mainstream media of lying about Cova nineteen causing a pandemic. He says all the crap you hear in the media. We're all in this together. That's bullshit total bullshit ever GONNA be Carson here only from quoting you. Don't have to participate with the losers the massive mainstream media and CVC who as if there's a pandemic and millions of people are dying in the streets. There's not Paul is that we're talked outside and I looked at my street. Known was dead in it so everyone don't believe what he's a couple of dead in it but he's not based on corona virus. According to court records middlebrook previously arrested for wire for in two thousand fourteen after allegedly running a fraudulent credit score improvement business. It was dismissed in two thousand sixteen judge set his arraignment for April sixteenth. So as we're doing this not yet but we will follow up if convicted as charged. You could face up to twenty years in prison when I think Newsweek heavy time and Justice Dot Gov oh God that's serious actually talking to my uncle who is a public defender about the court system and what's happening and actually that might be delayed because the courts are so backed up right now. Looks like Nikki pointed out the flyers mascot may have sat in something. Let's hope so. And he is out there. Trying to win the dance off. I don't know that there was an official winner. One. Paul winters would add. Bulldogs drug off and tried to get the ball in right now. Erin Thompson has been inserted for the vote on more pressure. Again, the man denial full court. Darren looking to get it. In now finds Jorgensen Jorgensen will start to bring it forward for the BULLDOGS a little over fifteen minutes remaining in this game Butler has never left. Dayton, top by ten. Just haven't seemed to be able to string possessions, offense possessions, together, the resultant rockets and points on the board Paul gets into the low block posting them up Kamar with six points today. Backing down goes with the left hand over top. And this won't off the ir happened really challenged that one six nine put an I. Into the air over the outstretched arm just off the back fourteen and a half left him with the ball on a ten point lead scoring Trump for the BULLDOGS now three minutes, forty drought for Dayton, two and a half. Treacher download Landers up against Thompson Landers off the glass, and in to be careful with those personal tried to stay vertical their Landers able to drop staffing drop step then put it off the window. Thompson out the wing now working inside picks up his dribble. And he traveled. Look into pass it off. Nobody was there a little bit too ahead of himself. Now with fourteen o seven left's. Hold on turn it over Butler over the last five field goal attempt. Thompson limited ministers ages thirteen minutes because that foul. Trouble. Cruncher back out. Lander's? You moves it in the corner. Macelve- over the top. Well, the shoot for the flyers Crutcher with the ball defended by McDermott top of the key Crutcher. No look pass over the Landers and Landers traveled up. This is now five turnovers for date in the last three and a half minutes. Bulldogs haven't been able to capitalize Acklin. The problem is more Bilotta those turnovers have been deadball turnovers as well. So it's not like they've been steals. We're able to go the other way quickly. They've still been able to set their defense and often times they've been able to set their press up after those deadball turnovers. Gerald Butler into the game for the first time for the. George Benson bounces one over the Thompson who will walk it across mid four. Dylan's Butler gronk working with Thomson and Jorgensen a Baldwin. Paul gets the free throw line. Backout two gallons Butler heated down to bronc pack out the Georgia's steps into a three no BULLDOGS just can't get the threes to fall. There are now four of fourteen from the perimeter. That was nice movement to to find an open shooter. Your best score just off the back rim. Thirteen o seven laughed at champ. Step outshine for macho. Crutcher hands it off Davis works around. Brooke davis. Fastball. Chessmaster Landers now Crutcher with five to shoot back down the Landers Landers against Baldwin leans back fading away missed that one top and taps it over to the Dayton veg. It was saved. He was saved a shortage. No Pauline in the fast break cannot get the lane tapped up and miss by Thompson versus today. Just keeping it alive as you said eighteen was Zeke chase down. After the steel the dogs back within ten. Scoring drought lasted four and a half minutes. Baldwin was he said he called time. That's what he thought. It was a time out. They caught a foul called Baldwin. He was defending gets Crutcher. You're right. Is it a time out? Or is it a foul? These officials are going over stock things out. There is certainly a time out on the floor. And I think it is just a timeout. Thirty second timeout that will turn into the well immediate timeout help. They are going to get a foul on Baldwin as well. Headed into that. Twelve twenty seven remaining here in the panel for Atlanta quarterfinal match between the Dayton flyers.
