Who Is Curtis Sliwa? A Look at the GOP Mayoral Candidate’s Wild Ride in New York

"I grew up in New York City. I was born in Queens. I was in there into the 70s. We got out in the 70s, moved up the Danbury, Connecticut because the crime, the deterioration was unbelievable and we watched the New York news every night. It was unbelievable. We had mayor beam. We had it was just like a nightmare. And into this nightmare, steps a young guy named Curtis Lee tell the story Curtis. It was a night manager at McDonald's in The Bronx. The Bronx was burning down at the time and in the 70s alone a million people fled from New York City. The biggest exit is a population ever. And rightfully so, gangs arson property values plummeting quality of life dismal. So I decided, hey, you know, something they've removed the transit police from the subways at night because we were on the brink of a fiscal collapse. So they were laying off a lot of civil servants. I said, oh, I'll start patrolling with a group of my closes at that McDonald's. We will call the burger boys. And we started to patrol this one particularly train the number four train, which had been nicknamed by the right as the muggers expressed. I thought I get the congressional Medal of Honor. Eric, I couldn't have been more hopelessly wrong. The mayor at that time, Ed Koch vilified us, called us vigilante, said we were the hell's angels. The police unions were upset. They didn't want us there, because they figured their furloughed employees would never be brought back. And so within the first 13 years until Rudy Giuliani got elected mayor. I got arrested 76 times. I got wooden shampoos, concrete facials, attitude, no readjustments. It was whenever you elected or in a changed all that. I always gotta stop you because nobody knows what you just said. And it's the funniest stuff I've ever heard. You said you got wooden shampoos. You're talking about Billy clubs across the head from cops. Yes. Yes. And then concrete facials where the cop would say, Curtis, you see the curb down there as I was handcuffed. I said, yes, Sarge. And then you go, good. We're gonna have your forehead meet the curb bang. And you get a big lump in the front of your

Inside the Shade War Between Joe and Kamala With Jack Posobiec

"I've seen Jack talk about the shade war, I'm really interested in knowing more about Jill Biden versus Kamala, what's the dynamic like? Oh, it's huge. Build out some of that out more piece from The Bronx. Thank you. And thank you for subscribing to the Charlie Kirk show podcast. Go ahead, check. There you go. Yeah, so the shade war has been going on. I mean, we all kind of know that Kamala Harris, of course, was nobody else's pick either. However, in the wake of George Floyd, the Black Lives Matter movement, Joe Biden was kind of in a box. He had to choose someone who was African American. And then so Kamala Harris was the one a lot of the media, a lot of the elites have been pushing her early on. Remember very early on she did that town hall with Jake tapper, just out of nowhere. Nobody was talking about Kamala and suddenly CNN is feeding her on the entire audience saying, oh, combo is going to be amazing. She's going to be great. Very, very naked on her feet. Obviously. But like Hillary Clinton in many ways, she's kind of the California version of Hillary Clinton, where she plays the inside game. She understands what's going on. She plays people against each other and you know, the inside politics, the office politics, the palace intrigue, if you will. I mean, look, she went from somebody who was a staffer in San Francisco all the way up to being the senator from San Francisco. People want to talk about how she did it. My point is she did it. She made it happen. Right. That's ambition. That's a 100% ambition. This is what she is dedicated her life to. So I wanted to go to Joe, and say, you know, Joe, you're not supposed to put someone as your vice president that you know will betray you, then they get the chance, right? You know, with Trump and Pence, you never had that with wish and JD. And obviously with Obama and Biden, Biden was never a threat to

Curtis Sliwa Is Taking the Fight to the Boroughs of New York City

"Well. There are five boroughs and as approximately close to nine million people 5% live on the island, and it truly is an island because politically it is so different than the rest of the city. It is a Red island. It is a Republican island. It is Staten Island. It is the reason market. I'm running for mayor of the city of New York because against their own party leadership. They nominated me to be the mayoral candidate. And now my battle is in the other four boroughs, which many of your listeners originally what from Brooklyn and Queens, the Bronx and Manhattan. And they're all blue. I mean, we're talking an 8 to 1 registration rate of Democrats to Republicans and those Republicans who used to be on the rolls. Either they passed away and there in heaven or maybe someone straight to hell without and especially shoot, or they fled the Florida North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Texas, Tennessee. And the exodus continues because it's an unlivable city. No quality of life. There's no zero tolerance towards crime. They vilified Rudy Giuliani, who saved us in 1993. And they view what he did as having been offensive to people of color. And yet you look now Mark you look at the horrific number of shootings, stabbings killings. The attacks of emotionally disturbed persons. You need mental health care in their medicine, and it's almost all by people of color against people of color. You mean to tell me it's a better city in this in this case? In the city that Rudy Giuliani inherited when there were 2000 murders a year 5000 most unsolved shootings and we went from being the crime capital, the murder capital to the safest big city in America. "bronx" Discussed on The Bronx Pinstripes Show - Yankees MLB Podcast

"It's like chorus good manager and he has the backing of his players because they they played like they didn't give a crap last season because they still have talent like the red sox have a talented lineup and then this year they started the season. They played for cora. And then i think a little bit of the talent caught up to them like there. Were not going to be one hundred win team. So now they kind of came back down to earth and it's a dogfight between the red sox jays and the and the yankees for the last. What what do we have like. Eighteen games left or something like that. But i'm looking at the remaining schedule here and obviously being jay. I'm going to be as positive as can be the jays. The orioles the twins a law. I think the j. yours and the twins for fourteen more games. I could be correct. Not so that's at least ten off. Fourteen thanks so i'm on the positive side and a lot of people are shirt on twitter. Saying i have a good chance. You're making the playoffs. But if you just look at remaining schedule. And i guess they we have the the yankees forever leaves six. Yeah we're recording this tuesday at five o'clock before tuesday game. Yeah they play three more years and then three in toronto. I got a question for you. How far are you from toronto. I'm in new jersey so okay so what. What are you doing jay series. I mean we'll pump boats of content. Here come toronto. Let's get some a across the borders people in you know you just can't go to you guys. You guys can come here. Can i come back. Yeah you come back. It's easy the only thing is if you're an american citizen you're allowed to non essentially travel to toronto but we can't travel to you guys not essentially you know what i'm saying. Yeah yeah yeah so if you guys have a negative cova test and you're vaccinated. You guys can come here but we can't go there. That doesn't make much sense. It doesn't make any your borders. You're border isn't allowing canadians to go to the us yet that that's what it is. I wanted to go up to buffalo to see a game but like just when it comes time to like getting in the car going like and that's that's that's too far of a drive off day. I'm calling out scott. I'm calling you if this series has any. I'm hoping it's in the same point as it is. Now maybe as like one and a half two games back where what are we i mean. Let's do a livestream think. A livestream is a lot more realistic than me. Flying up to toronto. You told me tom. I will be at that livestream. I don't care where. I don't care where i am. I will be at that livestream. I need people to see the viewing spreads of mea diehard jays fans and you and scott sculpture scott likes the and i respect it. I knew that there will be electric. People love to see it. It would and see the it's it's like unfortunately right now. It's like two ships passing in the night because the yankees are just like. I wish both teams were playing. Well that's what. I wish the yankee because i'm looking at the standings. The blue jays are three back of boston. So there are three. And a half back of of the yankees. They're eight and two in their last ten. They've won five in a row the yankees at three and seven in the last time. They've lost three inner bluejays hud plus one thirty six run differential. That's the most out of anybody. I know it's absurd. They have the third tied for the third best run differential in the american league. It's i mean it's the bullpen. Like you said blowing all those games. Twenty six losses. Because i can't believe it. I honestly can't believe it because you saw yesterday man this marcus simeon. He's an they're going to have to back up. The brings truck for this guy that jay's aren't signing him this is a this is like a once in a very long time opportunity for the jays you have robbie ray who's a cy. Young candidate in my opinion is the favorite just based on how he's been pitching maybe depending on. How cold us tonight. You're marcus semion. Who has thirty six nukes thirty six at second base. You have boba shut. You have lobbied. Hit thirty five home runs in an oakland. He was the runner up for the aol. Vp then last year. He was bad so we took a bridge deal with the blue jays. I guess i'm not really a pro but a one year on yourself. Eighteen million and home runs nineteen but literally. Everyone brett gardner hit twenty. Eight home runs baseball's. But that's what i'm saying like for people that don't understand it. I mean this is the jason. Make the playoffs here. I don't know if it's going to be like this for a while. You're not gonna have these like all star players like marcus simeon. I obviously bones body but this is rob robbie. Ray might not even sign here. You know what i mean. So this is a massive opportunity to take advantage of. Just being so having such power on offense having marcus simeon. There going to be here next year. So i'm very optimistic about it. But they don't make the playoffs. I might like. I might leave my twitter. Well you said you said they don't spend money. But then they signed springer for what was the spirit. You know..

Race to the Finish: Time for the Yanks to Seal Their Playoff Spot

"So now we got this series against the Orioles coming up in The Bronx guys. What else do you want me to say? It's simply has to be a tweet, a tweet. It simply has to come on Twitter. Sorry. It has to be a sweep. They can not settle for anything. It's the rays lost again to the Red Sox, not entire. I don't know what's ideal for the Yankees now. You know, do you want the raise to keep losing and the Red Sox gaining ground? The Red Sox are a game and a half behind the Yankees now. It's just three in the lost column. And the rays are 6 and a half up on the Yankees for the division. So luckily the Yankees have this three game set against the Orioles that they truly have to take advantage of because the Red Sox next 9 games, oh, I'm sorry. Red Sox next 12 games come against the Indians, not bad, but not great, raise White Sox and Mariners, and those latter 6 are on the road. So ground to make up here for the Yankees who will have the Orioles, the Blue Jays and the mets in the mets, the one makeup game against the twins and then the Orioles again. So this is it, guys. You can really kick the Red Sox. You could really kick the Red Sox down by taking advantage of wins here and watching them lose some

Will He Ever Heat Up? Diagnosing Joey Gallo's Skid Since the Trade

"The goal here with Gallo was to lengthen the lineup and diversify the lineup. Left handed bat, he gives tough at bats and he's able to give protection to other guys in the lineup. Perhaps, I mean, it not perhaps. It is certainly paved the way for John Carlos Stanton Luke Voight and Aaron judge to be on the hot treats that they are on right now. And we're thankful for that. But a lot of fans have been sitting here saying, oh, dude, when Joey Gallo heats up, forget about it. Forget about it. This team's gonna be unstoppable. But we have no evidence of him heating up. So Anthony Rizzo heated up right upon his arrival in The Bronx. Made his statement. Singlehandedly, I will go out and say single handedly won that series against one that series sweep against the Marlins. Was it colossal reason for that? That kick started the Yankees incredible run throughout the month of August. But Joey Gallo has yet to really come on. I know we have that go ahead home run against the Mariners. That was an awesome moment to signature Yankee moments since coming over on the trade. But since then, he's grounded into three double plays. In four games, he didn't three double plays before, so it was Saturday Sunday Monday and Tuesday. Over the course of those four games, he grounded into three double plays. He grounded into three double plays in his previous 95 games with the rangers. What how does this how does this even happen? Before that, he grounded into 8 double plays in his previous 346 games. So bad luck, sure, but like, what? When is this gonna stop? So my question is and my doomsday question because I love asking these because I like seeing people freak out. This is just how my brain operates guys. When do we start worrying about this

"Today. We're focusing on new brings a particularly charismatic group of sea slugs. They are remarkably diverse. They live in every ocean and most marine habitats. There are more than three thousand different species of them. Worldwide and emily people are like really into them. You remember ryan from earlier yeah. He was pretty hyped on them. Yeah yeah yeah so. He's a phd student at harvard studying evolutionary biology. But before harvard. He did his masters studying new brakes. And once you love new brings you. Don't just stop loving new to bronx. I live the passion every day. Even though like i've been working on other weird critters live in the passion. The new to bring passion. He says that some scientists who study new brings actually call themselves nerd or banks. And i love that win. The fandom has a name you know the passion real and i'll be honest emily. I was initially drawn to them because some of them are so cool looking but for me. The amazing thing about brink's is how they harnessed the powers of other organisms around them. And that's what i want to talk to you about today. Yeah this honestly fascinates me okay so earlier. You said some of these sea slugs have the ability to co-opt photosynthesis the process of using light to make food. I know that plants. Algae and some bacteria do this Like i've never heard of an animal doing that. How does that even work okay. So you're already on the right track the key for noodle brings is something you just mentioned. Algae that use photosynthesis to make food aka photosynthetic.

"Let's take a look to see where jimmy burke came from. He was born in the bronx new york so he never strayed too far from his birthplace. Like a guy like by the state up in plattsburg missouri. Why it ever got out of clinton county. He was the illegitimate son to woman named jane. Conway who was a prostitute was actually an immigrant from dublin ireland so he was a real irishman. He was the son of an immigrant directly from ireland. The name of his father was never known. The mother may not even know who the father was at the age of to the social services in new york city took little jimmy conway and put him in the first of many homes and also being some orphan homes or whatever they not enough they're calling orphan homes anymore they call them group living situations more than likely but a large part of his early years was spent in an orphan. Now as with many of these throwaway kids he was in a lot of different places the institutions but a lot of different foster homes. These people take in kids and some of them are good so mark good. They're just doing it for the money and and take a man for Sexual reasons so he would suffer physical and sexual abuse. "Do you think that the democrats are in trouble. It sure seems that way. Thanks so much ryan from louisiana. Wanna play a certain tape here that demonstrates this from msnbc cut one hundred sixteen. I think the democrats are in political turmoil right now. The january six narrative has completely fallen apart. Inflation is now kicking in job. Numbers are not what they should be. Kabul is an absolute mess mean. they can't get flights. Kabul americans are stranded. They are in a. They're in a very different difficult political position and there really is no way they could turn this around. I i mean. I shouldn't say it that way. But the plenty of tricks up their sleeve but the trends are going negative and they're supposed to hit their high water mark now and then. This is before all the attack ads. This is before you know trying to get rid of one party rule in washington. Dc listen to what msnbc has to say. Cut one hundred and sixteen. And i don't know where mission control is on the democratic side. But somebody donnie needs to get that. And they need to start responding mission control for the democrats. That's a good question who actually is in charge. In some ways the zeitgeist spirit of the times is in charge. Sometimes it's the corporate donors sometimes. Show up to worship. Jesus and tv shows up. These are like broken. Messed up children. I mean let's be honest. These are not adults. What are they what what is antifa. They just seem like hurting messed up. People yeah their kids that have rage issues. That are living in their mom's basement. And you know you know. They're they're raging against you know. Think about it there. In one of the most far left cities in the west and they're raging against injustice and it is just absolutely mind boggling and you know at the at the at the root of their issue is is they are titled they are And really there. yeah like. You're saying they're just kids and so and they don't know what to do when people don't back down there used to getting their way. They're used to pushing government officials around police around mommy. They don't understand yet. They don't understand what it's like when they meet five thousand christians better moving because you know. They think they own the park. They think they own downtown portland. They actually don't and so when when when courageous christians take a stand and there immovable they just don't know what to do and that's what took place you know two weeks ago or a week and a half ago when we showed up in downtown portland and you know we were a force and we did not go to antagonize. We did not go to try to pick a fight but we went to take a stand on behalf of our country on behalf of this city on behalf of the pacific northwest and man. It was powerful. What god did in that

"Who's bandwagon. That will cool off again despite you. I'm hoping eloi jimenez has big game. This is his chance to charm america. The way he has charmed white sox fans Just I wanna see. Hi mom on camera and excited giddy smiling as a gifted comedic actor. He's gifted face actor like he I think when it comes to just his cameras skills when it comes through his ability convey emotions out saying a word. he's got talent. And i'd like to see that talent show with an ice. Three had game homer into the corn. Some some dugout mugging. I wanna see that you just. In front of the entire national media the fans who have never really seen him play the gracie performance from him. Glacier tours is still healthy right or he's not on the list that he he He got is stomach jammed his thumb sliding into second base the day. So he's going to be out my god. This is terrible. Because your the yankees legitimately have a very good starting lineup. Either on cova. Or on the on the i l. 'cause you've got jiro shell out if got gleyber out like i said rizzo der sanchez. You're almost building an all star in infield and then and then garrett cole could be the pitcher of for that for that injury team. And i love to scrape by with some rain of outfielders but the you get my point. Alturas had a big series the last time the yankees and white sox played in may One player to watch for jose abrego has three career. Home runs against andrew heaney in his career So that may be something to wash for if you're looking for someone To hit a home run. Who's a break to be a good man. If giancarlo stanton aaron judge get a hold of one. I just wanna see on how far it flies into the abyss of corn behind outfield wall I think this this could be a fun game between the yankees white sox again. Major league baseball really lucked out picking these two teams because they have a lot to play for still is we inch closer to the postseason. You could follow bronx pinstripes ads bronx pinstripes and you can follow the podcast on twitter at yankees podcast and follow andrew witter at andrew underscore rotondi andrew. Thank you so much for hopping on and helping breakdown this game from a yankees perspective. You're welcome guys had a lot of fun and good luck in the game. You the who knows the white sox and the cubs alternate every year doing the field of dreams game so you guys might be doing this on every every other year. Previewing this we'll suck it up. Jimmy that's the case. You better like. this is fun. I'm going to keep an open mind and you could follow jim at socks machine and visit socks machine dot com for all the coverage of the chicago white sox you can follow me on twitter at.

"Because rizzo's not vaccinated and the amount of guys that he's obviously sharing a clubhouse with who did test positive. It's it's not. It's pretty understandable. How he tested positive i to be honest. I didn't know. Rizzo did not get the vaccine until after the yankees for him. I just missed that story back in. May i think. Espn wrote the article back in may when rizzo made his decision. I said this on our last podcast when we talked about rizzo. I'm not going to get on someone for making a personal decision. You know i. i'm vaccinated. And i chose to get vaccinated and you know my my wife is vaccinated and all that sort of thing of rizzo decides for him and a cancer survivor feed decides for him. He doesn't want to get vaccinated. That's his personal choice. I'm not gonna. I'm not going to be one of these assholes on twitter who decides to get all you know. Turn this into something that we don't want to talk about which is get political and like start attacking the guy like it sucks that he got kovic hopefully he gets better soon for the chicago white sox they entered the game sixty seven and forty eight as they lost two out of three against the minnesota twins in their last ten games they are six and four and despite losing two out of three against the twins they lose no ground against cleveland for first place in the american league sensual. They still have a ten and a half game lead in the central jim. What's the state of the chicago. White sox coming into the field of dreams game. Well i was hoping that they would use this. Stretch of six games against the cubs. The twins is a kind of real runway towards getting their offense back with l. o. Jimenez back in lewis roberts in the lineup now and having that kind of disappointing series against kansas city. In in cleveland before that this would be the stretch of you having a lineup. That scores six plus runs before they get into stretch where they play the yankees then the as and raising bluejays. Just it's a stretch of tough games and then quite use the twins series. Like i thought they would and you know to their credit. They i i guess in defensive them they kinda use it in different way like tony. Larussa used Wednesday as a true getaway. Day with anderson and moncada sitting And robert sitting. Because he's going to be in and out of the lineup as he gets back from his hip injury but yeah it just going into a tough stretch of the schedule without still looking like they're fully operational and maybe that's the way it is but when you have a nine and a half game lead very least who knows like the cleveland can't gain like they're physically prevented from gaining ground in the white sox this month they have not the white sox have lost. Three games did not gain a gain in any of those days where the white sox presented opportunity. It's just the white sox luck right now so perhaps there may be a bit lucky in terms of not feeling pressure but while they are have while they do have sports and it seems like it makes sense to gresham is try not to push it and then you should Cleveland start biting into their cushion. Little bit then. Maybe there'll be some urgency yet. Do you think they're in cruise. Control the the white sox. I i don't think so. Just because they're enough guys getting healthy and trying to get back in the lineup and trying to establish their seasons that i don't think they've been around enough as a team. Also guys like brian. Goodwin and jake lamb. Who are just trying to be regular as an china to say they have to make themselves Necessary near there on the cusp of always being booed off a team and having to to hang on somewhere else so they they have a nice mix of you. Know proven veterans who are going nowhere players were injuries and want to get themselves into rhythm and then they've had like this just rotation of heroes coming onto the pension delivering a hot week at a time. And then you afterwards trying to hang in there so. I don't think it's like a team wide complacency setting and i think just mix of things where they're not quite you know whether it's some guys getting ground down some guys not quite up to speed Just it's mixed. That's not quite working firm right now. Jim with being another national broadcasts for the chicago white sox. Are you ready again. Sometime between the third and sixth thinning of the fox broadcast rehashing. detailer russa and your mercedes spat from me. Yeah it's I guess the one thing larussa won't be there he'll be at a Funeral service for his sister's husband So perhaps that's one thing that all him not being there there. Nobody for the fox cameras to focus on in between pitches while they're talking about and perhaps settle diminish it but yeah i am at the very least looking forward to like an over simplification of larussa season with the white sox and him saying like oh all the mistakes he thought he remained. Were really just stroke of genius that we're now realizing versus. Here's a guy who's away from this game for nine years and is getting a new team is having some stumbles figuring out his own strategy outfits nude the game in two thousand twenty one and a half way in the season now. It seems like he's back up to speed so you think so. So you think so. You guys happy. Because i thought it was going to be a disaster especially after the mercedes thing. I didn't think he was going to last the season but the team obviously kept winning winning cures. All as we've found in every sport your team wins. your player. performs can overlook a lot of things So you think he's actually turned into what this team needs. I think so. I think he's somebody who doesn't mind conflict like you look at his cardinals. Days with scott rolen. Jd drouin colby. Rasmusen afraid to butt heads with players even good ones a just if he wanted to prove a point or felt like they could do better or whatever it's like you didn't mind Rubbing a player wrong way and it didn't seem to affect them on the field. And i think we're seeing the same thing. The white sox like tim anderson. And jose abreu are leaders of the clubhouse the players respond to them and then i think they respond to I guess how. Andersen debris responded. Larussa and abreu's ben a dutiful. You against veteran. You're basically saying like you know whatever. Tony wants his fine anderson. Somebody who will be like more like yeah who cares not in a way. It affects the effort. Just if he thinks that larussa is going to be upset about a bat slip or A quote in the media like he's not going to care so i think They're allowed to be themselves lance..

"Twelve two thousand twenty one between the new york. Yankees and the chicago white sox. Major league baseball couldn't ask for a better match up as they have to. American league contenders squaring off in a game that features possibly the american league. Cy young front runner and many sluggers. I got to be on the field helping me. Preview the events and game from bronx pinstripes. It's andrew rotundi and andrew. What's up man. You didn't even practice the last name beforehand and you nailed it so nice job on that. Thanks for having me on it cuts deep when you say possibly the american league cy young that being lance lynn lance lynn. A guy the yankees had very briefly before he decided to turn into the second. Coming of roger clements. Well we're loving it on the south side and speaking outside from socks machine. It's jim margolis which you could follow at sock machine and you could follow bronx pinstripes on twitter at bronx pinstripes and follow andrew ads. Andrew underscore rotondi and jim. Are you ready for the first major league. Baseball game ever played in the state of iowa more or less. It's just kind of a dan the calendar to me. I'm trying to get excited about it. I think i might get more excited about at one. Say actually see it for myself. But so far i would say the marketing isn't quite sucking me and yet we're off to great start on guys. You're you're not. You're not you're not getting like all the all the nostalgic feels like. Are you guys fans of the movie. I guess if you're not a fan of the movie might be cares what's going on here i. I wonder how twelve year old or a fifteen year old feels about this game. That's a good question for me. I enjoy the movie As someone That lost her father at a very early age. The very last part of the movie spoiler alert Gets me almost every single time when it's on. Mlb oil a thirty year old movie. You still got to you. I mean i. I keep running into people that are like i've never seen the movie. Should i see the movie before the game. And i don't wanna ruin the ending for all sir. I don't know that it's necessary to see the movie before the game. Although although i think kevin costner is going to be there so you might. Just be confused by kevin. Costner's there if you don't see the movie beforehand. Yeah it's you know. I'm a fan of the movie. I'm not a fan like it's not an accurate shoeless. Joe jackson from new jersey batting righty rather than south carolina batting. Lefty it just like you. You kind of have to draw a line there and silk treating this as like an authentic baseball movie or is it my treating it like a story. That's using baseball as a vehicle to kind of tell the arc of these characters and look at more like that way so it's a good movie like the performances are good. I like that You know it was one of the rare movies. I remember like watching it. In rewatching the nineties where the lead female character amy meetings character is like helping propel the story. She's not like somebody who gets in the way she's not somebody to overcome. She sat a doubter of the main character. she's involved. she's a big reason why the plot can happen. Same thing with the female characters in the movie are actually involved and Supporting what's going on and driving timothy bus character is the one who's kind of a blanket on the whole proceeding so i thought that was cool. I would say the one thing that bothers me watching. It is when you have the extra coming out of the cornfield. Not just the white sox but the players they roped in talking about all these guys You know they're pointing out. Who's coming back. And they say gil hodges but they don't say like josh gibson oscar charleston like well terrence. Mann is talking about like how baseball is great and ties the years together generations and how it heals. America like they have no representation of the players who were banned from playing until nineteen forty seven so it seems like they re wrote that part or remastered like star wars style to where you just have like some negro leagues players players coming out of the corn and joining them. I think you kind of get that ideal version of what baseball is. But without that kind of that's one thing that i think sticks out and bothers me and stopped from completely enjoying the movie. I think you you. You certainly make some a lot of valid points there. I think as diehard baseball fans which the three of us are that we we have that take on the movie which we probably have on a lot of different movies. I think the classic example of that is people. Get mad at the movie. Moneyball because berra's ito tim hudson mark moulder were never mentioned. I'm sorry that's the reason the oakland as one hundred games. Not because scott had a burden had a hot april. So i just think that it's a certain for for hollywood for movie purposes. Sometimes they have to do that sort of thing but yet your points are all heard loud and clear so the event itself right now. If you go to stub hub as we are recording this the cheapest ticket i could find is nine hundred. Seventy five dollars per seat. If you want to sit behind home plate it's twenty two hundred dollars per seat behind home plate. And i also look this up because the field of dreams is at dyers ville iwa the median household. Income is sixty one thousand four hundred dollars so you do some household math. And if it's your mortgage or your rent is twenty five percent of your household income. This game for local residents is the cost of a month mortgage Which seems a bit insane for one regular season baseball game. Not a postseason game now. It is special that it's the first major league baseball game in iowa. But andrew i know yankees fans are willing to put up some money Especially when it comes to post season tickets but is the event too expensive for fans to attend to have this be an annual thing. Oh well debbie an annual thing. That's that's a different question. I've seen baseball major league baseball getting critiqued for the fact that ticket prices are out of control and i guess the only thing they could do in that case is not allow for third party tickets stub or whatever to purchase tickets and they would only make them direct direct to individuals with maybe four being the limit that you can purchase or something like that and then you could cabinet at three hundred or four hundred dollars because it is still in demand. There's only seven or eight thousand seats so it's a supply and demand thing but so are you. Do you guys think baseball should have done that. Like to make this game more accessible to the fans in that in those in that area that would be most likely to go to the game. I'm i'm not sure. I'm the game that comes to mind when it comes. The closest parallel can think of recently was the game at fort bragg Where the head hill. Only trying to think of the capacity under ten thousand. I think they could show up but that wasn't a military base so he could limit the capacity to people who could actually get into the base. And so you'd have to worry about scalper selling to marlins man or whoever to try to get in like they marlins venomous definitely be. Yeah guarantee you that so it was that kind of situation where like when you have an open stadium in public in a town where you know anybody can show up. I don't know what you can do. And i feel bad for you. Know i guess locals because was already a place where you can't watch most ballgames like i think they're blacked out of five or six teams. I think like just any neighboring state a team in neighboring state. they might wanna watch. They can't do an animal btv that hope that they're your cable providers provider has the channel so it strikes me as a little bit or maybe tone deaf to market a game in iowa which is already a hotbed and has been for years. Like the i guess the ground zero of the whole blackout arguments and four fans who rail against local blackout. Just you can't watch you know five or six teams in iowa and if that this game comes and goes without there being addressed somehow whether it's by rob manfred or you'll local reporters asking about it. It feels like a missed opportunity but also just feels like i was never gonna get attention for that..

"He people are mobbing the field. There's stuff all the difference. I know it's time different so at a certain point it was okay in. Us sports now. It's no longer okay and it was tolerated in. Us sports and now it's not so i don't know it's just the way our culture you're not gonna you imagine. Come see magic if if one of the yankees the soda cup. I'd be out for weeks the dude in boston. Who through the through the water bottle. That missed westbrook in the nba. Game got hold off and charged. He got charged. Should i mean. I don't think. I think you should be throwing cigarettes ash charged with a felony. No you should not be it. Should not be tolerated. But he got throat like everybody's throwing it everybody that's one of those things very efficient once one. If you're not throwing it if you're not throwing it you might get your ass kicked because it's going to sell everybody on one or two people. Doing it might as well chuck this. Adam it's crazy. It was crazy. I was watching. What is how we got to wrap this up. I don't know if that happens. "Chance destroys that to feel go deep really back. A public building out of left field. Haven't done this in quite a long time. You you for in the mood to do out of left field. After you're busy sports watching weekend. I had a busy watching my son weekend. Because leeann had to bridal showers. I went to the game on friday. Remember when we were yeah. They were fun talk anymore. Early twenties sleep until like eleven these these race weekends these horse race weekends were always like on the top of our list when we when i look back and we we reminisce get back for some beers with the boys. It's a lot of these weekends where there were just like packed on packed on packed a events and a lot of them had a horse race in the middle of the remember yankees red sox series longtime ago with the preakness belmont. They're just fun to watch we. We did a minor league baseball game and the day watch those other ones lot of a lot of beers so yeah i wanted to talk about Just just quickly. I saw something. And i wanted to compare the difference in sports in the way that it's talked about the way that the fan bases are just. It was just very shocking to be so. There are a lot of sports on this weekend. If i don't know if anybody else was watching it. I was trying to put my keep my head above water. You know not just watching yankees baseball because it was so bad. The college world series shot out to my odu monarchs who are started won the c. usa tournament baseball and are in the there. One win away from the super regionals. Which is the essentially sweet sixteen. I think of the of the baseball college world series. And they they. They took out south carolina and then they lost to uva so they have a a a one game against you. Probably today i think instead of So that's been fun to watch the the their. They used to have a really good baseball team other. They're back in it Playing well so really fun to watch go monarchs and then i think one of the more exciting sports on television. I don't know if you've caught much of that. I've i've thought this for a long time but watching the The college softball world series. And do you know the headlines or the highlight that went around. Was the jam pitcher who fielded the ball that was in front of her and dove to tag out the player also diving at the plate. It was bang bang. Would've tied the game. It was huge. Unranked jammu going up against a powerhouse. Lots of fun but but that game when you watch on. Tv is a lot of fun because it's the the fields smaller they're closer to the. Their pitchers are closer to the batters. And it's action packed like it's action all game one and it's a lot of fun to watch. I don't know if if you watch any other. But it's i don't wanna yankees sucking though you realize that. Like you're disgusted by the yankees. I sort of watching this because bevan bevan played college softball. Mary washington in virginia. And i started watching after with her a little bit and we have friends that played pretty high level of in d- one topic but it's fun to watch. It actually is a lot of fun to watch. i think it's it's up their top honestly one of the most exciting watching on tele- juice. Because i love watching the little league world series. I find that to be always fun. Embiid brandon bass funds for different reasons. I you're watching softball like their wonder. There's such good athletes and they're they're throwing the ball insane. The pitchers are just throwing equivalent. Two hundred miles an hour flat ground so the ball actually does rise And you're seeing some of these. These pitchers throw ninety five pitches. Hundred pitches back to back because you softball. They could throw back to back and have some some endurance on that anyway. That is aside. We saw the boxing maps last night. The the spectacle boxing match with Logan paulin mayweather. Which was if you didn't know that that was a frequent in a joke walking into it. Yeah i don't know what to tell you if you didn't pay the fifty bucks like expecting to see a scripted like wwe match. I don't know what to tell you if you're looking for anything different you should really just open your eyes because i tweeted this out. But mayweather accidentally knocked him out. Paul went cold like o'clock right in the year. And then maye whether held him up held not not yet big fella. We gotta make some money. This is not going to hit you or not. That not gonna knock gonna hit. It was just it was it was pretty funny and i thought very entertaining ours. The the the highlight. But i want to talk about was something that i saw last night by accident. I'm not a big soccer fan. I'm trying to learn the sport a lot more on blue wire. We have amazing soccer content or football. Whoever you're asking and we You know so. I talked with these guys a lot. And it's it's just more top of mind for me to understand the sport better. And i saw everybody tweeting about the. Us men soccer team last night against mexico. I didn't know what was going on. I didn't even know the tournament didn't know anything about it. I turned it on. Apparently it was a finals. Was i saw the end of the the second half. I think i said that correctly and they They kept coming back to tie the game against mexico. It was fun entertaining. And but the one thing i saw at the end that was like shocking to me. These guys were had celebrated. They celebrated a goal day The one doodoo who kicked a penalty shot scored usa mobbed him in the corner where you have a quarter kick from and just disputes are getting showered showered with cups and bottles and glasses in everything from the family. The fares were just like unleashing trying to give you a do guy knocked out later in the game. Another look like a slushy coupling connected mexico players and took him out. Great did they were. They were falling like shot. Because that's they're trained to do. Apparently but i mean just like an insane amount of stuff going on there. Why is anybody anybody talk about that. Why is this not like when when one thing is thrown on the field at yankee stadium just one asshole had a couple too many beers and threw something out there. Yankee fans are the worst people in the entire world yet. These these things are getting knocked out to the game by trash being thrown at them and it's just like just literally being showered with cups and glasses and like all these things and dudes are getting connected in the face like you're seeing impact nothing. I'm not saying anything about it on social haven't been able to get but it's it's happening all over the place so i i was just the the difference between the global and this was i think in mexico i could be wrong with that but it was a final against mexico. I think it was mexico. But why why is there. A different level of of carrying when it's a global sport like this and it's just like a different mindset. I guess. I guess it's tolerated more. Yeah because it happened earlier in the game he was like. Oh there's trash being thrown on the field and they just kind of move. Think about you know the players are like taunting the fans. Throw them throw more them. Think about whenever you see video footage of baseball games from the seventies. I was thinking of the the chris chambliss home run was in seventy six of the yankees after he hit the walk off home run against kansas city. And there's just people on the field..

"Guess lemay hugh but at the same time and i hate to say it lemay. Mayhew wasn't good in the two years prior to coming to the yankees so is going to be below league average bad the rest of the year. No but he's not going to be the mvp candidate he's it was probably a juice ball product the fact that he was able to slug what he was. He's should be able to get more hits. He shouldn't be hitting two fifty. He should be hitting two eighty five. That's that's that's fine. That's the kenny. Hit the measurement of but see the slugging combined. Slugging going keep breaking number three. But he'll get injured. He caught right. It'll happen for two weeks. i don't who's next. I dunno frazier. Fraser is next. I dunno gary at that point. Because there's this gary next i can. I say have conferencing gary. At this point it's been it's been three years of suck. No i agree in the sense that there's two guys probably that that i have confidence that are going to turn it around and that's glazer. Who again like you said has been playing much better recently. I think he's had a much better approach So i'm i'm in with him. I think he's he's going to be much better and then lemay you. I absolutely believe we'll be better. Stand i don't know he's he again when you when he's on to in the past when he's on key looks like one of the most unbelievable players in the entire world when he's off he looks like one of the worst players in the world t so either hot or cold black or white it on or off. There's no between with him. There's just not and when he's off. He hit a fastball. when he's on he hits gleyber torres coming back. I don't know what happens in asia. Teeth has sixty eight plate appearances. Guess what his batting averages since coming back from covid gleyber torres gleyber torres six plate appearances since may nineteen over. What do you think is batting. Averages three fifths batting average is one eighty five homers three doubles. Oh he's got a four zero three on base percentage and a one fifty three. Wrc plus he's been good. It's really good since he returned from covid. So that's that's that's my. That's the guy saying needs to start. Just i know he's doing it but like okay so you got well. I mean he's already done it. So that kinda ruins that. I mean it's such it's such a such a euro but i said it was already doing it. It's not it's not really going out on a limb on okay but but like we have so much contact on the ground tests told me he's playing better like there's a lot of contact on the ground you're right. There's no doubt about it. Yes he's also from everybody. Grumball's got ground balls throughout the entire. Let's tire team. So yeah. I don't know man. It's one of these things. I'm just scared of a little bit about this minnesota in if they can't beat minnesota i'm a little worried this minnesota but minnesota okay. It can't be destroyed on the road. If you can't take two out of three from the twins detroit a day. It's packing it look. Nobody's perfect even the best baseball players strike out with the bases loaded and the best golfers sometimes three-putt with the tournament on the line. So if you feel like you've come up short in the bedroom sometimes it's perfectly okay but if.

"Qiqihar friggin we. We see some of these guys that are that are put together even a great season. Verdoux go come comes these season. You compare number two mookie. Betts eight threw up close and comes in. I think he was like. Oh twenty eight coming into the series. Of course he has like four big hits in the series. He had a run-scoring double on friday night that iced the game for them and then he hit the home run on on sunday night. I know it was a cheap home. Run down the left. you'll line pop fly. That doesn't leave the park. And everyone's like oh expected batting average with zero nine zero actual one thousand. Okay shut up nerd apart and it was a home run and counted. Shut up this. This is what they want and the fact that they're still pushing the rivalries a fucking joke for real. It's a joke. stop doing it. Stop doing it. You're embarrassing yourself. You're embarrassing the fan. Base is because it's not a rivalry. No one on the fan side. Thinks it's a rivalry at all. The red sox don't want to be the yankees when they see that they're starting to play better but they got a little bit of a syndrome about then they'll always have that but there's not a rivalry right now. There's just not and the fact is. Is that when you see four on the other side you to hate that team. I can't hate that team right now. Because they're playing for something. They're playing with each other playing like four their manager. They're actually they had her night. How'd tommy have tower. Not but they're playing. I mean they're top theater call tips employers four offense players but to say that really good hitters that's true even play didn't even play for better hitters in the have not better than judge but you get my point point is it's hard to. It's hard to hate a team when you look across your team and you see no fight. You see just lackluster mental mistakes. Very small just just just infuriated infuriating baseball. And then you look over that he's is your ticket extra bases they're making heads out plays. They're doing a lot of the right things freaking out of you know. Throwing his frisbee walked the first guy. Inning was not surprising but then you know they come out and they're doing the things that they're supposed to do and the doing anything wrong. And it's infuriating except for aaron judge what. Aaron judge is going to minnesota. How competent minnesota all this shit about missile. I'm still confident. They could beat the twins because they always beat the twins. But so but i think he's pitching jones. Say he's got revenge game for japanese potato pitching in the series the yankees when you look at how their season has gone. Strictly struggled in april against alias teams. They played like crap then they got a little bit better in may and they played well against other competition mostly central competition and the pitching was phenomenal. They had put numbers in here. Thirty games from the cleveland series on april twenty second through the white sox series one hundred. Seventy seven innings. Two point seven nine out of their starting rotation doesn't get any better than that okay. They went twenty two and eight in those thirty games but none of them were against good competition against the competition in their division which is owning them. All the teams in their division are owning them. So where do we go from here with this team. When are they going to snap out of it. How do they snap out of it. Can they snap out of it. Do you have any confidence that this team is going to be turning it around and when will they turn around because if they don't turn around soon they're gonna find themselves eight games out of a playoff spot or or they're going to find themselves behind three teams in the at least guess. What if you're not gonna make the playoffs if you're finishing behind because one of them are win the division and then toronto and boston or tampa boston or whoever does a win. The division could make the wildcard. You're going to be on the outside looking in if this goes on for much longer. No it's true. I mean. I think the record inside the is becoming just ever so more important. When you're looking at how it's gonna shake out at the end of the year so yeah they gotta win the other games against inferior competition and then they start winning every game winning all the games essentially they really do. Look severino coming back. He had a rehab start or was a yesterday. I think in tampa. That's what i saw one. I was surprised to see that that he was like in game action in tampa. So i don't know what that really means but at the end of the day he's throwing to other teams which is very positive. That's a good thing. So i was surprised that he was He was he was doing that already. That said we don't know what he's going to be when he comes back but they do have him coming back right. They have him coming back on the path to come back at least right now. Kluber is going to be starting to throw again. We can't expect a god damn thing from him at this point right. We don't know what the arms are going to be like. A course of action is okay hopefully hopefully hopefully but again rusting resting. On course of action is different. I don't know what that means but it's different but at the end of the day at the end of the day. This offense has ticked head out of their ass completely out of there s and yoka ran out of there is there is look.

Thirty games thirty games Aaron friday night sunday night tampa three teams Verdoux aaron april one thousand eight games minnesota one seven one hundred yesterday Kluber four big hits Two point

"And second base. Those are primarily. Dj lemay who who has been flipping back and forth between those two positions. This dude needs to start hitting like they need him to start hitting just jalen numbers though it would not be that rank your also throwing in odor numbers whose whose know that power moments been abysmal other than that and a couple of moments where he's been he's been good. I feel like sentiment around. Him is still okay but As far as the fan base goes but he's not a good baseball player. And then i basically just been a black hole besides lemay who when he goes over and does anything. So i'm not look. I'm not going to be the lemay you apologised any longer. He needs to figure it out. That's all we all understand that but again there's just so many other problems around him that debt make me look at. It's hard for me to it's hard for me to to too wrapped up in what he's doing because literally every even if he was doing well. Nothing six fifty six. Oh p s so you say that. Dj whose numbers would be better. Y- fine but like not much better than than what they've produced out of these positions not much better now so so they need and i basically powered at power position has finally everyone. Who's been calling for. Chris gittens because he's been lighting up the minor leagues for years. But what are what realistically. What are you expecting from. Chris kittens like he's not the savior of this team. I was joking with someone on twitter. I'm expecting shelley dunkin. I'm expecting okla so a. Brian rappaport on twitter. He's he's one of jj's buddies in he's just he's a huge yankees fan he's like. I'm really disappointed with with chris kittens. I what were you expecting. Expect you to go three for four every night with two home runs. Like that's not gonna have. He's chris gittens. He's he's a twenty eight year old minor leaguer for a reason he also just he also just came up to so. I'm not expect him to come out of like firing gangbusters. he had a couple of good at-bats. But no yeah. It's not that i can give time for sure. It's like no one else doing what he stinks. We've seen over door has been doing so this is going to get door out of the lineup. A little bit more fine. I'm cool with that. So play chris skins for week two weeks. I don't care but like don't expect him to to carry the offense. Don't expect him to hit. he's not going to hit. None of these other major league players can hit. What makes you think a minor league player is going to hit. This team. Fucking sucks dude. This showing so bad show. This dunkin is so infuriating to watch. I genuinely when gary sanchez hit that double in the first inning. On sunday night i was. I was just relieved. A wasn't happy. There was no joy. Just like thank god. He didn't ground into a double play and if they're the only team also in baseball they can get four consecutive hits and barely score a run stationed. This team is has sucked every last ounce of joy out of watching them. They're not fun to watch. The offense is putrid. They continue to make mental mistakes night after night. Double play ball double play ball double play ball errors in the field and the pitching that was on a historic run in may and the only reason that this team was afloat in may is now no longer performing elite. Since the chicago white sox sweep. I tweeted this out for matt yankees podcast yesterday since the chicago. White sox sweep the starting rotation has like a five forty. Okay so we talked about. I asked you the question. What happens if the starting pitching dries up. A little bit. Doesn't have to get terrible board if it goes from number two in baseball to number ten in baseball or number fourteen in baseball then what happens to this team. This is what happens to this team. These were watching it. They suck if the pitching doesn't go seven innings one-run every night and even when the starting pitching does keep them in games late the bullpen is now faltering louisa. Let's in the inherited runner from thanh. Who pitched okay. Why why he pitched denver. Why they pitching denver's though with first base. Open his fucking moronic because the dude. Murders the yankees. Don't pitch to them. How about that. How about just. Don't pitch to them pitch to the bumbling behind him that's what else coral would have done. Because he's a smart manager he would have walked aaron judge. They pitched around. It didn't work out for him. Show a hilarious. Aaron judge score those even talking about fucking chair green green since may sixth which is the game that altuve Hit the home. Run off of them. Okay since may sixth. He's allowed eight runs in eleven innings and three home runs. He's walked five and only struck out nine. He's got six fifty five. Whatever chair green did all to break shed. Green room looked terrible on saturday night. Ticket like fourteen minutes in between pitches yuks to watch this three much. You expect you when we talked about. We had that conversation about what happens. What happens when this team doesn't start performing elite on the pitching side of the ball. You know the the the common sense answer as well. They're not going to do as well right. That's but but you also expect that the offense to two at some point start correcting itself and start seeing you know a little bit more of a sustained progress sustained output and. It's it's happened in very very small spurts very small sports and it just hasn't sustained and yes when you are when you are first of all kluber out Which which was a big which was a big deal for the staff. When you can't you can't pick up your other side of the ball The pitching staff even a little bit and it just stays exactly the same. You're screwed you're absolutely screwed. And they're good. they're in fourth place. Learn reason good boston boston. Boston doesn't give they've got balls give they. Don't have got balls. They come out there with an attitude like they just they just had because cora gives core we don't like hora because he's a he's a he's relentless come and keeps coming keeps coming. He doesn't. he has no filter. he doesn't give a shit they play for him. They absolutely play for him and they believe they absolutely believe and they know that they're going to be in a position to win. But when i heard all the talking about this team about their team and just like the confidence behind his first of all i hadn't heard nathan of all these say more than four words. I don't think before that second of all this guy was like. Who is this guy. He's like a leader of a pitching staff now in in the way that he talking because cora gives them that type of energy gives them that type of confidence to go out there and play even though there's a bunch of ragtag is from different teams..

gary sanchez Brian rappaport fourteen minutes nine Chris saturday night yesterday five Aaron three twitter lemay Boston chris six eleven innings matt yankees sunday night denver cora

"Bat speed was lost. It was just. It was just super ugly. And the angels got a total of twelve point. Eight war out of cool holes for two hundred and forty million dollars which is terrible. One of the worst contracts not worse contract in baseball history. They signed him at age. Thirty two. okay. That's how old judge is going to be when the yankees will have to sign judge if they want to now. I don't think they're going to give them ten years because think tenure contracts for thirty zero players done but if you have to give him seven eight years you're still looking at some ugly years most likely out of aaron judge and i think that's i think it's something to look at like you look at polls could have never imagined this is how it's gonna end for album pool halls when when he signed that contract but he found himself in a situation where he didn't have any regular playing time anymore yes because of his performance but because they had a deviation a first baseman and he didn't want to ride the bench so they released the the interesting thing. When you look at at the contract and you know first of all it was. It was not abnormal for a type of contract like that. Baseball was paying for people and players. What they have done. This has been going on for a while. And i think when they when they tried to make this move when anaheim tried to make this move they were trying to get over the hump and actually i think what they what they really. They were taking a gamble that they could. They could capture the upside on the front end of this contract win a championship finally win a championship. Get over the schneide and and and then live with whatever happens after that. And they couldn't do it they just. They couldn't do that. They couldn't capture this. It was too risky. And i think that what gm's are noticing. Is that when you make big big moves like this early when you're rosters at a point where you think it can win. This puts you over the top. It's extremely risky. Because you're you have to overpay for these guys to get them for the first two to three years because that's where the production's going to be and that's that's a big problem and i think that's where the going out. It's not necessarily the the long term contract but it's more so about the construction of the roster that parallels with that contract and where that guy will be after the first five years that's to me the biggest thing and that's what we're seeing it got exposed and didn't didn't take advantage of it. They still haven't had pitching and after year five. It's you know they're not able to recreate what they were what they had when our pools was signed. I mean the yankees are no stranger to this. Like i said they did it with a-rod they're probably going to have to do it with garrett cole in the last three four years of that contract he's not going to be a thirty six million dollar pitcher when he's thirty seven years old like no one's no one's tricking themselves into thinking that right. No that's correct and for the time. The yankees are also a different team where they can replenish a little easier than angels notoriously spent money. but they've spent it really really stupidly. That's true but think about pools he was. He was mr cardinal like and the cardinals walked away from him. Couldn't fathom the cardinals walking away from someone like albert pujols. But they looked at it and said you're on the decline not the incline. And we're not giving you ten years. I know are cornerstone to our franchise. And we've won championships with you. But from a business sense we have to move on and the cardinals did the right thing. Will the yankees do that with aaron judge. I don't know what the right thing will be when he's thirty two years old. That's the thing if he's watts if he would sign a six year contract and by all means signed him. But if you're talking seven eight. Nine years i i. Don't we know too much about these contracts to know it's not gonna end well when you when you look back again going back to the interest contract. I'm looking at some stuff on the fly is going to the two thousand twelve angels. They made the playoffs. Yes they did but they also traded for cranky that you're in at the At the deadline. So they they were. They were going for early. Trout's rookie year. That was i think it was his second year. He may have had a partial year the year before that but At least a second year he was Yeah he was twenty years old though. That was i think that was his first full year. But you're out of team pool halls. How kendrick eric eibar. Who was listen player hammer. And it was hamilton about torii hunter. And then you look at a pitching staff. Cj wilson jared weaver at age twenty nine ervin. Santana dan herron. And then you add frankie. That's a good team yet. This team is making a move and going for it. And i think that that the trade for drinking that you're clear just completely doubles down. What they were doing their approaching they were going for it in those first couple years and they they understood they had to win that you don't make a trade for his cranky at that point unless you think you're gonna win the world series and they just couldn't do it and i think if we're looking at albert pool halls right now and that contract if they win in two thousand twelve or two thousand thirteen were. I think we're looking at this very differently. Similar similar to.

albert pujols garrett cole ten years Nine years six year kendrick eric eibar Cj wilson seven eight years second year Eight war Thirty two first two thirty zero players thirty six million dollar three years twelve point first five years Trout thirty two years old thirty seven years old

"Every time out. Now he's going to catch. He's going to catch one of the other three guys. Gary sanchez is now two out of five days catching so what you just keep telling you do you. Do you keep going. That's this it this is what it is. It's a it's a fifty fifty platoon ish. It's happening stuff. He's not it'll say forty seven thirty. Could be yeah. It's just i was i. I think you. And i like to give gary chances. We want gary sanchez. to be i get. I am not on the fence of giving him chances. Necessarily i'm just at this point. It is it is what it is and yes. There's opportunity for him to be better because we've seen it but it's been a really long time since we've seen it and it's just it's just it's just not show up anymore. It really is not showed up again. I know i said i'm gonna give him until close to the all star break through june. Still gonna to still going to do that. Were we are. Because i do believe most likely fall off at some point and probably not as defensive though the defensive abilities if he's going to be there the way that he catches the game's going to be there. That's not moving anywhere that's not going anywhere. The home runs are probably gonna go. But he's starting to hit. He's turned to do other things. Besides home runs to are the whole runs going to go with because if there's one thing has been able to do in. His career hit home runs a thirty percent of his hits coming into the season career. Where home runs. He's got pop. He just didn't do anything else. If is showing production as as as much as gary sanchez. Or would be then you. You got a serious problem because right now clearly. There's no question about who these guys like throwing through better. No question about that eighth at bat for sanchez. but it was kind of a breaking point for me. 'cause i just i'm just watching this. I'm like these are meatballs. And he's not hitting them but what is going on is d- does he have something in his i like. Can you not see what is happening here. Not hit this pitch. So yeah it was. It was a real just head scratcher for me. I was watching. I was watching and good for polo kneel for for calling him out because he deserved to be called called out in that situation o'neill's good in that way he definitely calls it a lotta times. He does it in his own way but player-friendly most he's player friendly but at the same time he also he also you know make sure that accountability is present at certain times as well. He's done it but cone. Does it too. they both. they can't help it. they're players. They have to be able to identify these things. And you look that's unacceptable. I've been there. I've done that. Those balls should be out of the ballpark or at least scorched somewhere on the field. And they're not. He's not seeing the ball. He knows what that looks like. Same with cone from the mount. That's why i appreciate those guys so much. They're so good at the game and we the work is by far and away the best like the group of of a baseball analysts that i've seen out there cover games because one there there's a million of them and to see the players the players they've narrowed it down to conan o.'neil though for the most part yes but the players that are there are tell it like it is and they say to their experience well and they know how to speak about the other parts of the game. They're very well rounded. I can't live not a fan of when john flaherty gets to the west coast swing and his his job florida at midnight. It's a cup boy. I don't know tough learn through. He's not what you are but job. Larry always gets like the oakland oakland road trip and then like a couple trips to tampa in the middle of the summer. When when michael k doesn't wanna make the track but so they are going on a road trip starting with tampa. It's been ugly as we've said last. Twenty one games vs tampa since the start of twenty twenty five and sixteen that includes the playoffs. They have a minus twenty six run differential in those games. They've been outscored. Seventy eight to one. Oh four and to be honest. I was surprised it was even that close. But the close of the game. Czar seems like the more tampa thrives against the yankees. Yeah it's true i. I think that we're seeing tampa. You know they were not applying great again other opponents they're below the in the standings but they're exactly that's the thing so the yankees identified that and take care of some business when they go there and identify that they are not this juggernaut that for whatever reason shows up against them or kryptonite. How whatever you want to look at it they need to. They need to get off the schneider and and do you know they do. Is the word schneide using anything other than baseball to get off of you get off of anything else besides a schneide know what the hell it is to be honest. I just needs to get off. The toilet is what he needs to do so they need to play. They need to play well and a diesel. Have anything to say about the grass going to tampa. Now that we're going to be don't let it don't let it affect your fielding. We shouldn't talk about how the yankees are so terrible fundamentally that tampa that the sheen on the fake grass and tampa cannot help these guys. Yeah we'll see. We'll see what happens. But i'm looking forward to it because again. This is the bench room now. This is a benchmark series right like even though tampa a percentage point behind you in the standings they've owned your ass for a season plus so you gotta go into tampa and you've got to win two out of three. I'm not expecting a sweep. I wouldn't ask for sweep but you can't just go in there and just get your butt kicked again. It's like come eventually. You have to turn it around against tampa. This team's not getting their butt kicked anymore. I think that you look friday night. Friday night was a you know a bad a bad inning. Throw it out move on. They won they won two games. Where one of those games. They got struck out mac. Sure fourteen times. Set a record for an opponent coming into yankee stadium but they still found a way to win the game even though it was very very ugly and then sunday again found a way to win the game. That's a that's a different mentality. That's a different approach. You think differently when you're in situations like that and for baseball like having that feeling that you're gonna win even if things don't go right. I think is important so her they're supposed to be getting luke back this week. Yup which is going to be huge at he got sent down so it looks like that was the there's a corresponding that means a couple a couple of things i think because andrew got called up. He played first base on friday. He got called up because gio wasn't playing because they were resting geos needs so. This is good news on two fronts. I think joe's knees healthy and voice is going to be activated and positive things. I would expect a pitcher to get called up and then ford to be sent down. Because you're not going to carry voight and ford correct. I agree with that. I think that is that less on analysis unless just for this series. They want to.

Gary sanchez john flaherty Friday night friday night five days gary sanchez two games sixteen Larry sanchez friday sunday four thirty percent andrew two three guys fourteen times michael k this week

"Popping have happened in april and the april gangs were bad. The bad team very bad team overall bad everything bad manager bad players no good Bullpen was good but the rest of the team was was terrible. So can we get a new clock on what these fundamentals are starting to see any of these things but my problem is all of these things. We know the players at the yankees have on the roster bad at these things it's correct. You're right so i'm trying to get to a point here. Where i'm helping boone out in what he's saying to these guys. But i really at the end of the day for me as long until i see him out there with a fungal drown balls. I'm not going to believe it. I mean girardi literally would go out there and had fun goes to these guys. George has his faults. And i've seen them recently in the past couple of weeks number. Oh yeah. I forgot about those. Oh yeah forgot about that. Oh yeah i forgot about that. There are some moments after. I've been talking about missing girardi That that i've oh yeah. I remember like you know some of these things that would drive me insane Dd not so much girardi. Yes i i think that as the season goes on they will get better at these fundamentals because of just wraps in the way that the season goes but yes. You did exploited in the beginning of the year. What that shows me is that it was not an emphasis at all any kind of preparation. And and worry. That's a word to me but a almost a bigger issue than not having the emphasis is isn't the players are not equipped to do a lot of these little things. Well they're never going to be a team. That's excellent based running and taking the extra basis players to new either equipped to do that though. They are equipped to do that. They're not though when you say they're not equipped to do that. That means that they don't have the abilities or they don't have it in them to do these things and they do. They absolutely do no. I don't believe that they do. They have the ability to hit a lot of dinger's that's what they have the ability to do they walk into his very good professional baseball players. They are choosing to double down on particular. Thanks launch angle st- Strikeouts they come with the approach. A lot of this is approach. It has nothing to do with their god given ability and the way that they are The way that they can play the game of baseball because they're so good at baseball that if they made an emphasis they could absolutely make you improve on. These fundamentally couldn't be correct these things. Good baseball i can forget that. They're professional athletes and baseball's extremely difficult but when they are focused on one thing. It's all about the reps if they get the reps at the a a swing has more of a launch angle and the approach of their mentality right now than they're going to be deficient in other ways and i understand that you can only do so many things so if you're hitting line drives and ground balls you're not gonna hit the ball out of the park either so which is better. That's where i think the nerds come in and say launch ankle's better the approach that they have is better. Let's wait this out. wait this out. wait this out. But we've seen four seasons now where this team is. Not good at advancing. Runners making productive outs and scoring guys in from third base with a productive out. I don't expect it all of a sudden to just get better this team. This core of guys is not good at doing those things you agree. I think it's because of their approach. But yes but i think it's because of their approach. Maybe they could have prevented chase. Especially i think gio lemay you. No problem judge. Even no problem stanton miss changed but stanton just you know he's other hot or cold. There's no inbetween boy. Did i did i nail that or did i nail. That word lasts less upset. I was like just enjoy it while it lasts because it's not going to last them. He goes almost hitless on the weekend. He gets the walk off single but that was his only hit of the week. But if you look at the numbers. I think what he went. One for eleven at the end with three walks also talked a little bit on base. It's just he. He was playing a video game for the previous week. Where a pitcher through a strike and he hit out of the park or he hit a double off the wall. It was is gary sanchez. Got ruined and oliver heads is because of the first month. You had in the big leagues boy. Gary sanchez at on saturday. On sunday in the eighth inning was absolutely pathetic and apollo. Neil in in a in a very paul o'neil way basically called him out for not being able to hit the ball because he was like you only get so many meatball pitches and miss him before. You're eventually not going to get that meatball pitch anymore and sanchez. Got four. very very hit. -able pitches and he filed them back every single time. I don't know if that's just slight mechanical. Not quite on the pitch a little bit late. Whatever it is he was just missing. He was taking good hacks at it. And o.'neil where's the ball. Oh it's called off the screen. It's not in the gap. It's not over the fence. Where ninety two mount are fastball center. Dick should be. And then what does he do. He strikes out on a pitch out of the strike zone. It was a real sad at bat. Real real sad this is i mean this is what we saw last year with him occasionally hitting a batting practice ball out there but a out of the park but so many times missing opportunity square over the plate where he's just either fouling it back or not seeing the ball To where you know he should be as a as a as a beach ball coming at him and being able to to to destroy i. I don't know. I don't know what i don't know. What do they do. What do i mean he hit a home. Run off max. Scherzer and san he he is hayes catching garrett cole. Every time out now it looks like he's catching corey kluber..

"Angel. Rotundi and scott ryan. Let's go what's up everybody. Welcome to the bronx pinstripe. Show up five hundred forty five. Were recording monday morning. Because sunday was mother's day and it's a hell of a lot different. When you're you're celebrating for your spouse along with your mother or mother in law. Is this a lot more to do in the day. You're you're traveling. I was also busy throughout the day. So we just figured with an off day on monday. Let's record monday morning after the walk off weekend in the bronx. Look man we. We are not priorities any longer. There's there's there's no in your house you are probably you're definitely the third priority yet. I'm maybe fourth because we have a dog so because maddie's ahead of you that it's on sunday on sunday for sure because of mother's day it's like me way the f. in the back the only priority is that i do nice things and that we were up in in delaware at beaches. That's where my mother lives now. So yeah b- distant distant prior distant from from being important on that given day and had to make some adjustments here so i'm glad we could record in the morning and not after a A long car ride with a father father's day. I'm looking forward to father's day also. Is my birthday weekend. 'cause i was born on father's day so my birthdays always going to coincide very closely with father's day. Which means you know there's gonna love what's the data as this year. I think my birthdays a friday in and father's day that sunday so that would be the twenty twenty dollars. If you know when your birthday is you should couple of duke figure out what it is. But what this also means is no bob on. Today's episode usually intern. Bob is on the monday shows but you know he's got he's got college and its early ecology sleeping right now. There's no doubt about it so we're not gonna we're not gonna have bob hope bob back on next week For the regular scheduled programing but overall i mean good home. Stand for team. That was coming in. I think you and i both agreed. This was the most important homestand i think. Michael k yesterday said is their longest homestand of the season they played they started with detroit. The worst team in the american league they mopped the floor with them which is exactly what they were supposed to do before the astros series which was obviously very important for a number of reasons just basically for. Here's a good team. Let's see what we can do. A good team and they won two out of three could have very easily swept that series of some things. Go differently on that thursday afternoon and then washington. I know there. They were below five hundred entering the the series. I think everyone in that division pretty much is like below five hundred division because a lot of talent there. But it's not they're not perform. It seems like the the yankee season woes have been happening across the league for to a lot of a lot of different teams. So yeah they've really indicative what that division is. I think i think saw stat. That i don't know how this works. Because winning percentage in theory should always be the same because everyone plays each other but it was. It was something about like. Winning percentage is the worst. It's ever been through the month of april. And i guess that's because everyone's hovering around five hundred i was here say does that mean parody or does that mean just everybody's playing the good teams are playing down and the the bad teams are supplying mediocre. Anyway yeah i think it's just mediocrity across the league was what the stat was about but the national sto came in with good pitching corbin for even though he was struggling to great picture. We saw what he did. He's still one of the best pitchers in the league. Unhittable at times also shape. How exposed the yankees could possibly be against right handed pitching the. That's those are the exact match ups that that we circle When we see the the sporadic offense Shape up as this team really does have yes they go through spurts but we can. We see how dominant right handed. Pitching can can really shut down this team. And it's worrisome to me so circling that one and they stole that victory on saturday and then sunday they also get the walk off win so it caps off a seven and two home stand before they go on a ten game road trip leading into this tampa series and this is exactly what i was hoping would happen. Seven and two homestand. You are for the most part playing good baseball. But we'll talk about friday nights tobacco in a second but you have to walk off wins some momentum. An off day tampa. You can't get spanked by tampa yet again. You just can't. It's a big series culminated for sure. I'm glad they had another. You know relatively big series in in quotes here with With houston in this las home going to get the juices flowing back again. Because it doesn't seem like they have been flowing they played tampa bay's they'd be getting their asses kicked but also one of the the. The offense was not good this weekend but the positive is that those are games that the yankees lose in april for sure like very much so losing probably friday nights happen more often than saturdays and sundays in april because the the wheels fall off but they the wheels didn't fall off they kinda stayed the course to pitching held up which it really has been very very very good all year long. I mean can't really say enough about this. Pitching to be honest. The the bullpen has has been has been very good a few little things here and there lately But you know ever since kluber starting pitching well to you're starting to see this rotation becomes solidified which is crazy And they're they're really pushing well So that's kept them in the games but those games they lose it lose in april. They found ways to win at even though they were not ready. Saturday was ugly at a lot of runners on base. Had a lotta walks That they couldn't capitalize on on sunday as well sherzer basically show bats down their throat when he was when he was pitching but again they found a way to win so that was a. That was something that i like to see. It's good for momentum. I think when you have a team that's kind of struggling still is able to get that w. column the starting pitching obviously has been one of the standouts of the season just taking coal aside because we know what he is. You're starting to see improvements from beyond kluber. Herman also pitched well on. Sunday is shorebridge shorebridge nuke gulf of them. It's i don't know if i was a little taste of a man. Short were could be as a yankee and yang up ball where the ball went to the fiftieth row of of the second level. So it's not exactly like that. Was a yankee stadium. Home run things out of yosemite of like the vision of what schwaiger was going to be. Potentially those trade talks were happening around him for sure but one thing that i noticed is that taihang was pushed deep into the game on friday then the yankees wasted a good start from him and you had her mom on sunday who has pushed deep into the game. Even though pitch count was eighty he threw eighty pitches. It's a very low pitch count but he was pushed into the seventh inning. I don't know if it's confidence that the coaching staff has in these guys. I don't know if it's an actual an actual. They're making a point to have a different strategy. I don't know because it's it's been different. It's been different there. There was a there was like what happens in previous years. Bottom around rock bottom still calling that that moment rock bottom is is when judge gets Gets gets called out. A third and boone starts crying about something that he made a mistake on calling that rock bottom because it does seem like a turning point of when the i'm not saying he was a rally cry but i'm saying it was a turning point in the standings as a turning point of when this teams are clicking and getting into the winds but you see what's after that like there's been the pitching has gone deeper into games..

"Were really excited about launching. This is our intro show. So in the show. We're gonna introduce ourselves sort of who we are. How we got involved with the site. Were both huge yankee fans as. I'm sure everyone listening is so just sorta talk about what what we do what we wanna do at the show and take it from there so scott you started the website bronx pinstripes dot com about four years ago. joins us talk a little bit. About how you started that and why you started that. Yeah for sure. So i'm first of all. I'm glad we could finally do this. We've been talking about it for a while and getting the podcast off the show off the ground so He's going to be fun. Talking yankee baseball pretty much all year as far as the the website itself i i started the site where we say four years ago when when it was actually ny universe right If you were actually the first person to come on and right so you're You're employee number two. If you will do anything for that. I get like yeah. I'll give you a high five next time. We go to a game options or anything like that. I'll buy you a beer. I will buy you a beer. The next game all right. I'll take to celebrate that but yeah so we started out as a universe and then i got a very nice polite letter from a major league baseball in the new york yankees saying that they didn't like our name that it was a little too close to a couple of their Their their trademark. So we changed it to bronx pinstripes and I think for the better. I mean bronx. Pinstripes is a kinda fell in love with the with the name and the website has really progressed. Since i mean started originally was for when i was away because i left the new york area to school and it was a way for me to really keep up with the team Not being around the local media and just just you know an another opportunity for me to keep up with the team as much as possible. I mean an absolute szeswith yankees love yankee baseball. I grew up in North jersey and Bergen county about twenty twenty five minutes from the stadium. So i used to go to games. Thomas kid and yeah just Ever since ever. Since i was a child man been been completely Entrenched into yankees. I think we share that I grew up in rhode island and actually right now. I live in boston. And i know you know that but So you can imagine how difficult that is Being such a diehard yankee fan living in boston with all those mass whole red sox fans who sort of gimme shit. All the time in the last year wasn't bad because they sucked but the year before when they that world series was just brutal. But i sort of started after college. I was As i'm sure most people are just bored at work i wanted to talk about baseball rather than excel spreadsheets and stuff. So i started a tumbler in a twitter account. I think goes like may actually spring training twenty eleven and i saw your site and i saw you were looking for writers. I just shot you an email and sort of just evolved from there and it's funny. You mentioned the new york yankees university forgot. We were once called that yup and moons ago. Yeah many terrible graphics home. God but i think like you said it's good now. Bronx pinstripes dot com. it's more. It sounds more like a fan driven thing which we are rather than an actual affiliate affiliated site but the mlb sticklers for their for their property. yeah i mean absolutely they they They definitely protect it with everything and you know. That's that's their right to do that. So we we just tried to Minor ps and qs. And and do everything the right way as much as we possibly can. So yeah we definitely respect the fact that they have their trademarks and and that they owned us. You know we move forward as best we can. I think we've Bronx pinstripes evolved from that. And i think it's actually Yeah like you said man. It's a really good thing. I think the name suits us a lot better. Yes and so again. Just what we're gonna do here in this episode Get into what what we're going to do with the show. It's going to be a weekly show Different topics each week. Talk about what happened. You know how the yankees did over that last week breakdown. Some prospects breakdown you know some managerial decisions. I'm sure girardi will do. Some stupid shit will will get on them for and take it from there. So another thing we're going to do. We're going to have guests come on. you know. we have a bunch of writers on the site. It's not just the two of us and we all have different personalities So we want to get those guys on and talk about their opinions about the team in about baseball and You know everyone doesn't different. You know You know one of our guys rich on site. He's a huge fan. So i'm i'm sure that'll be fun when we have him on. ryan's a really big in a fantasy baseball and he watches every game. I think he watches every major league game. If that's possible. So he's unreal Brian he likes to talk about some of the historic stuff Current stuff so it should be really fun show. We got going on here. Yeah definitely. I'm really excited to bring a lot of those guys onto and like you said everybody brings their own little element to to the yankees and to the phantom if you will and And to the show for sure We have some guys that only people from the site that we're going to bring on but we're definitely going to be looking to bring on other people to talk baseball. Guys who are very much in tune with the minor league systems I know dan pfeiffer one of our guys does some stuff with trenton. And we're going to have him on to talk about a lot of our prospects And then you know. Maybe we'll get crazy. Invites a mother opposing fan fan sites onto to get a little bit of little bit of a back and forth. Yes that'd be awesome. I don't know however go but that'd be awesome. Maybe i can get stoned. My buddies up here in boston at come on us at sox fans yeah i would love to talk and have a lot of things to say to them so Another thing i wanna to do sort of get to know us is Talk about what are walkup. Music would be for baseball. Whether you walk up to the plate or enter you know from the from the bullpen. Like mariana. or something like that and we're going to do this with all the guys that come on the show you know. Just get into their brain a little bit about Personnel what type of music. So scott put you on the spot. What would your walk up. music bay. like i've never thought about my walkup music right. So i probably do one of two things and and maybe mixed in you know throughout the season if i were if i were the starting shortstop for the new york yankees but why starting shortstops. That's true that's true. I can feel the bar about hitting maybe a recent mendoza line but highly doubt it The two things that would be. I i have to i have to that..

"The last. two years have been better than any organization at extending championship windows. They took the mid. They took the ninety dynasty through two thousand twelve. That's unheard no and the reload to brian cashman's credit. Although many people will not give him credit for anything pitching related but the the reload that he did in two thousand sixteen was impressive. And i thought gutsy because it was not the not. The yankee thing to do is not something that was. There was really much of a precedent for but he did he do on the pitching front though he owned he has away. The reliever is saying there's a lot of people that shit on him pitching which is doing. That's fair yeah. I think very fair here. We are here. We are in two thousand two hundred twenty two thousand twenty one off season. We're talking about the yankees have won starting in. You know we're about to talk about the fact of potentially going going out and trading for sunny freaking gray. That's what we're about to talk about. No so so lindsay. Add the wrote that in the athletic it about reunions with yankees previous yankee. Starters you mentioned jay hap- lance lynn. Who now we know is what the white sox we she mentioned gray. And i forget the other what James paxton the sunny great thing. Bloomington ockers in the in the mix of of these conversations. Were talking about the yankees. not even. there's there's there's talk that the yankees aren't even interested in extending him so or bring in. That's what andy martino reported in. S n y although. We've seen caspian do this before lurk in the darkness. not no. He's in he's in ninja in the offseason cashman's indonesia you like to hear honesty from him. I like to hear nothing. Or or i like the mystery. Because he's playing a game it's he he strategic when he's honest because he last offseason was very honest they were in on garrett cole right. You almost can't be honest. you can't get i about that. No i know but when it's when it's when it's on the obvious and it's in your face. Yeah he's going to be like okay. Fine yes so but when but he what. Brian cashman has behind. Him is the yankees engine. Which which can spend more money than anyone even more money than the dodgers even though the dodgers have outspent them in recent years so what he can do when he's in on garrett cole he can scare off some some some teams so he can tactically say. Yeah we're going. We're going in big donald trump. When he but other guys tanaka or james paxton or maybe a trade for lance lynn. All these other when he knows he's going to have tons of competition and he knows that he doesn't want to drive the price up because he's not willing to go over the top for these guys. He lurks darkness. He's like bane he lives. He was born in doctors. There's a bunch of There's a bunch of scenarios we could look at the other side of that two. Gm's or you know. He's he's playing chess. And i like it so it's it's good. I think good things. I don't want my gym to be completely honest with me to be to be to be honest. But if if these this reporting is right and the yankees are not looking to add to their starting rotation. They're in deep doo doo for twenty twenty one. Yeah we're doing the same thing we did. Unless unless the kids come up and and And completely shine and george. Montgomery returns the form which. I do believe that he can. I think he's gonna be. I next year is the year that We're we're looking at jordan. Montgomery as as as you know being a solid number. Three number. Four pitcher i. That's that's where i think he's ceiling is and i think that that's the and that's great but that's not going to win you a championship. It certainly can help you need that. You absolutely need that. You need a guy like that. During mccomb has got the ability to go deeper in games. I think he's he's he's a very good fit for the rotation so i think that they believe that he will be fully healthy and akkad point. Here's here's what. Lindsey wrote in the athletic in her article about the yankees. Bring back sunny greg. James paxton the reds appear to be salary dumping this offseason particularly evidenced by the trade. They made on monday to send closer. Russell iglesias to anaheim for light return would gray be available on the trademark. It seems likely know. Would he even remotely be a candidate for return to new york. Conventional wisdom says no by a lot can change in a few years. And i just have two words for you. Have your vazquez yet. they're different though. Because sunny grades. A bitch and javier vazquez didn't smile at all of us and didn't didn't do the off off the field. I don't even remember what he did off the field but no. He didn't do anything but the point is that he did not perform in new york and then he he performed before new york then he didn't perform in new york and then he performed after new york and then he didn't perform in new york and then he performed after new york some guys. Jj said this before. They have doodoo down their pants immediately when they see the empire state building. I believe that as well. I believe there is a lot of things that go beyond the the actual pitching in the mount. Everybody is blaming. Larry rothschild at this point because now that we've seen what sunny gray done in cincinnati. Oh by the way with his pitching coach from college. The guy that has to be with him for him to have any success but they see that and now we're like okay. This guy is would be an addition that would be positive for this team. We want him back. So there's there's a lot of you know blind faith that those skills those numbers are going to now translate when he's in the bronx in the in the in the pinstripes and i just maybe it's maybe no fans in the stands will help him so maybe that maybe this is an opportunity for him. Okay so then what happens what happens twenty gets on the zoom calls and so this is actually starting sunday. Grapevine loves this whole scenario no touching. He doesn't have to get near..

"The Yankees have had against the raise this season they are down by five runs in the fourth inning, get second and third with one out talk men and Sanchez, coming up talk men whiffs in an in a non-competitive bet he's websit Yup Sanchez whiffs in a non-competitive at bat no runs the team. In so predictable what this team is going to do in situations like that. So predictable. And for a guy like talk are you are you expecting a better bat for on that? I know he's been playing terribly but yet talk men should be giving more competitive at bats. Agree. I agree guys like talking to need to be competing in that in that box to to get to get as A. General and and just coach speak as possible I need some better competition in that box I. Don't need my I don't need savages in that box better competition in that box and you to actually have good at-bats in that box. You talk about leverage moments we talked about high leverage low leverage medium leverage a couple of weeks ago couple episodes ago high leverage situation. The Yankees seemingly have their least competitive at bats. Yes. I mean we talked about this dude. I understand that for sure also Tampa completely gets rid of those stats because of the guys that they bring as well. So and let the high leverage situations at the end of games I don't even want to go through this whole thing again because there's no, there's no witness. It is what it is. The way that the stat reads to me it's just a skewed stat it doesn't tell the whole story so. The way that relievers especially Tampa like it I don't even hold that much weight in that stat because stir so many guys that they're throwing out there. That are high leverage situation pitchers that come at you with something different. Anything else you want to meeting yeah okay. Yeah. I do I want to ask Because I missed something again I was I had I had toddler kemp delays. It's very difficult to get that get watched the first inning of seven o'clock game. When like the bedtime what the hell was the drone thing I come I'm like everybody's. Thrown in this guy. I don't know I. So I don't know if that was. I. Don't know what that delay. So it was a drone I-. Thrown I saw I know about a drone did and if people found out on twitter who the drone was I dunno some guy in the bronx just wanted to get a camera angle inside the Bronx the inside the stadium I. Was Manning the drone got it was a drone delay. was. Tampa drone delay was it was it? It was Trevor Bauer outside he's just manning the drone. When be surprised maybe maybe it's Morton somebody somebody did does attach the Morton Morton was on the mouth attached the more I realize that halfway through halfway..

"Jim Rotundi and Scott. Let's go. What's up everyone welcome to the Bronx Pinstripe show episode four hundred. Sixty nine. Normally in this Thursday morning time slot it's gotten I talking about Yankees Baseball it's one of our normal episodes but we're shaking things up this week and today's episode is going to be with Andy Martino I talked to him for about forty five minutes on Wednesday. About. The mets, but we also talked about. Him covering baseball during a pandemic because he is somebody that goes to the stadium somebody that is on the zoom meetings. I thought it was just really interesting to hear his take on how things have been different for for his job. For some of these other preview episodes, we've talked to other podcasters like Scott I so they're kind of in the same. Boat as we are Andy though covers the Yankee. Excuse me covers the mets and a little bit of the Yankees for S N Y for a living. So definitely stay tuned for his take on just everything that's going on in the world of baseball. It was really really fun episode I think one of the better guests that we've had on in the however. Many. Years we've been doing this show Scott and I will be doing normal episode. We're going to be recording it Thursday after the afternoon game against the raise right now as I'm sitting here, Garrett cold just worked his way out of the sixth inning. It's a pitcher's duel against glass. Now, the Yankees are losing though they natives can't beat the race hopefully when. I talk to you next time with Scott in a few hours episodes. GonNa come out Thursday sometime in the afternoon or at night hopefully, the Yankees have turn things around and were able to take two out of three from the from the raise for we get to the episode with.
