"That was the real case and could just been. He was sore as well. And then i just wanted to give it a day and everybody makes a huge thing of this. I mean look. There's everybody's right to do that because there's been a lot of you know not an non clarity how you call it with with him and it seems like the injuries. That don't seem like a big deal. Turn out to be weeks months and is that he was going to miss a couple of games and then they were going to try and get them back in there for one day and then he was going to be pulled in the middle of this game. And it's like oh yeah he's going to have to go on the i l. Forty five days later he's back. Did you see marley. Rivera's question in on the on the zoom call post game. It was between. I think it was between his postgame. Asking about asking boone. Directly is aaron judge. Do would you consider him injured. And he's well more or less a great question. Oh that's why he didn't give an answer now he couldn't and i think maybe potentially that's also kind of leading down that the fact that he did play the next day maybe it wasn't a covid the shot and a lot of talk about it so was injured. Kerley say that can't really say no can't really say yes. I don't know what you do there. What would the reason be for judge not allowing them to tell people. It was because of the vaccine. Maybe he didn't say don't say that but they just can't say it because it's it i didn't say don't say it but i didn't say say it's just messing with everybody because everyone is so fierce public. There's a protocol just like period for you not to talk about. You know things like that at all so it even if the player but even if okay that's fair enough i don't know i don't know i don't know why you're right. They did say not in the lineup because he was feeling sick from the vaccine boom maybe judge thought was maybe he thought it would come across a soft. I don't know and he's sick of people think it he solved so instead overrides they got great. He's going to have an oblique issue. It's going to keep him out for six months. Yeah now our expectations. Like oh my god. He's in the lineup for all excited. You know who's not in the lineup for two straight days is clint frazier breath for a couple of days. What happens when he struggles over his last thirteen but he had he was off to a hot start. So it's like okay. You give him six days and he's he's good and then the next four days he's bad it's like you're going to really make decisions based on these drastic samples one way or another earn other. He's either you're starting field or he's not if if he's got this tiny leash with clint frazier. It's not gonna work again as long as brad gardner's on his roster boondoggle just lean on brett gardner because he's a veteran any loves them fine. But it's not gonna work if you're going to have this short of leash with frazier. No they definitely need to allow him to work out of things. I mean it's so early in such a small sample size to. It's tough to tough to even sit see that that was the reason because of the i mean. He clearly said that he was not benching him. It was just a matter of the plane. Whatever you like sit hicks another day and let let frazier play the game. The guy needs reps. We want him out there. He's one of our best. Ob guys i don't care if he's a slump him out there every day every day key she in fact helps this lineup get get a little bit different he does. He is part of the solution. He's not part of the problem or prior to the oh for thirteen. I think he was. He didn't reach base in his last thirteen plate appearances prior to that he had like a five fifty on base percentage again. We're talking about a few games here. It's not it's that see. It's very difficult to go anywhere. No matter what you want to give them a day after going over thirteen fine give them a day for going after going over thirteen. Get back in their boots that he'll be back in there monday. Good he just liked the way. Brett gardner was going head to get him in there. Okay that's a feel thing. Fighter carter actually has had competitive and brett gardner had a a bat late in the game against a left handed reliever which i was surprised like. That's an opportunity if you're going to pinch hit for brett gardner lefty on lefty brek gardeners terrible against lefties at this stage in his career. And yes. I know like kay in florida we're talking. Oh the razor. Just gonna counter with another random reliever fine but so you're deciding okay. I'm more confident in lefty on lefty matchup with garner than righty unready. Matchup with clyde frazier. Yeah no. It's definitely telling surprised. Because i thought that was an obvious move but no. He went with the veteran guy. And you know garnered has had good at a boneheaded a play today. Although i got i i'm going to defend him. A little bit on the base paths because when that balls up in the air. It's hard to see where it is. I think depth perception wise and most timed apples kicking back. Not just straight up. It was kind of like a very favourable. Bouncers in you know so. I like his aggressiveness. It didn't work out. Unfortunately it made him look stupid and it was a bad time but it's hard it. I think it might have been a tough ball to read at the place..

"Let me take you to another one yesterday yankees and bluejays on a chilly day. The opener a yankee stadium. And here's the highlights from this one. Bottom of two one. On for gary sanchez and gary. Sanchez has left the ballpark sanchez. The first yankee catcher to homer on opening day in eleven years jens have a two one league garrett cole now doing the pitching and not well oscar hernandez oh no doubt about that drills one the left in the six that ties the game two and garett cold not pleased bottom nine. Same score winning. Run it second. Aaron judge of the plate. Can he be the hero on opening day. That's the question. The answer is no judge. One for five struck out twice. We're going to extras top of the ten runners. At second randall. Grischuk pool rightfielder. Aaron judge can't get it no. We can't sixty five percent was the hit probability on this. It's an rbi double. The run comes around to score and that would be the difference. Blue jays win it three two in extras on opening day. And so back to you jessica mendoza. What's your number one takeaway from the ball game yesterday in the bronx gary sanchez. I mean you've got to remember a lot of people. Were watching last year gary sanchez. You didn't think he was eating a start or be in this lineup for the yankees. Because how bad help awesome. He was offensively last year. Being one forty seven six four strikeouts tech eight teen walks. His biggest thing coming in was to be able to sit back behind the baseball. That home run. You could use feel the pressure. Come off of him. Why because there's so many other guys in this lineup. That when they struggle. It's up to gary sanchez. And he's the difference maker to me because you know when it comes down to aaron judge who also struggled with this game carlos stanton both of those guys are prone to injuries. They're not going to be in this lineup throughout the entire season and to the big piece. That's missing because by the way it is world series or bust for the yankees team. Gary sanchez has to step up. I know it's only one game but that run was huge

I like the optimism with judge. One hundred forty games fifty home runs. Mvp above that. Clint frazier big. Fan of clint frazier. I'm just swag got swag. I'd love to see him. Have a good season and german. I saw that one resonating in the in in bob. Turns is when i was saying to to win this question jer. Montgomery i'm optimistic for him as well. I'd love to see him. I'm i'm really pulling for gary comeback season. I'm i'm all over the the gary comeback train. I think he's gonna hit thirty eight home runs. I'm i am taking into account the fact that i don't think judge stanton gonna go this season without him. The i l. for a significant amount of time Obviously i don't hope that happens. I hope judge hits fifty home runs. I hope.

"Home. Run guy and let me tell you why last year when you look back at his numbers and i will use two thousand twenty as part of my argument here because it does help my case and also it was a a transition year for him. It was a development. So i feel like that's part of you could use if it's a short series and it's a guy whose developing like taking that next up you kind of have to look at it a little bit more. I guess for trends but not necessarily total impact. But when i'm looking at what he did last year and I was surprised by his on. Base percentage was was one that that really got me. And i'm really struggling to pull this frigging move to go. See richard rodriguez. Thank you very much Here we go the twenty twenty season. His on base percentage three ninety four. You're you're looking at a a guy who has drastically improved. I think the approach at the plate. We saw him going the other way a lot more. I mean you're you're talking about a guy who has an on. Base percentage very close to aaron hicks is doing clip. Frazier's a just you see the amount of walks he had. You could tell that. His his approach at the plate was very much different. It was tweaked in a way where he was not looking to pull the ball all the time. I don't know how many how many in two thousand eighteen when he came or nineteen when he came up and we saw glimpses of him. How many foul balls look like. They were gonna kill back kid because he's trying to pull a ball. That's you know. That was his approach the entire time that lightning quick bats that that's all we saw was the ball and foul. He's he's more patient. He's more mature. He's taking a better approach. The plate and i think he's going to because of that he's gonna see the ball fly over the wall a lot more and it's not just going to be the left field we're gonna see centerfield. We're gonna see right field. He's really taking that judge approach where he's going to spray the ball. I think lemay who's been good Influence on him. So i got. I got clint frazier. Thirty home runs. I think that is going to be a direct correlation of his plate discipline and the the pictures that he's swinging at because of his walk percentage i think is going to continue to increase and looking back at his on base percentage. I was really impressed. I didn't realize as high as it was too. That's very impressive. Especially because he had to sixty seven batting average should have a three ninety four. Ob is very impressive. I don't know if that sustainable for him because he's more of an aggressive type hitter but if he can be three sixty i mean. that's fantastic. Give i put the over under three sixty this year. Are you taking the over the under on that. I'm taking over. Because i think he's just a more disciplined player in general. I think he's he's really owning that zone. He understands where his strengths are and where his week. This is our. I think at this point or at least he's very much learning that and i think an owning it and not trying to be that Overly aggressive like you said overly cocky guy that has all the confidence in the world that he can do things but understanding that there are situations where he has to play to his strengths. More and not let the pitcher dictate what's going to happen. I think that was happening a little too much early on and again it's just i think maturity and discipline is a big piece of this and it's just a player coming into his own. I also made a clint frazier. Predictably dial and i could tell by the look on his face. I also made a clint frazier prediction. And it's not that different from yours. So i feel kind of kind of annoyed with you. i said. Clint frazier will lead the yankees in games played with one hundred and fifty five and he will hit twenty five home runs. That was my prediction. the reason name was twenty. Five home runs. You know what's that. Dj lemay who. It's twenty five home runs. The reason i said he will lead the yankees in games played is because i think there's going to be injuries to aaron hicks and to aaron judge so even if brett gardner is playing over one hundred games which will probably happy and clint frazier will still get significant playing time. And he's the youngest guy in the outfield and he's the healthiest guy in the outfield. Knock on wood. I don't know about thirty home runs. I think he's he's still probably more of a line drive hitter and if the ball is truly a little bit deduced we might not see thirty. Plus but really. What's the difference between twenty five and thirty over the course of one hundred sixty two games are in this case. One hundred fifty five game by. Thanks but it really. That's not that different for for for production. It's five home runs over. The course of six months to psychological barrier thirty home runs as much better than twenty five home runs. I guess so but at the same time thirty home runs was kind of desensitized to thirty home. Runs so i think if he hits twenty five or thirty home runs but the rest of the league is also mashing home runs because the ball still juice not that impressive but if the home run leaders on the yankees are forty four giancarlo stanton and he hits twenty five or thirty home runs. That's that's much more impressive type of type season from him. So i mean. I think we're a prediction from us. Well a it is different in the sense that i'm very surprised that you think he's going to lead the team in games played because of the way the outfielder so muddied up right now with the amount of guys that are out there. I understand. you're basing that on injury which is sick too sick sick pessimistic way to approach that but the fact that the fact that is out there the fact that mike talk men's on the roster jay. Bruce can play right field if needed. Stanton complain the outfield. There's a lot of guys that can play out there. So i'm just having any outfielder as the guy leading that charge to me is a is is is interesting and coming from you more interested in. It's more even more interesting. I i look at a guy like digital may as a no-brainer to to lead the team in games played because he can play multiple positions. He could play first base understanding jay. Bruce is there now no novoye. He could slide over to third base. He can play multiple positions and he's just like every day he's that guy that can go out there so dj limit. He was my second choice for leading games play. But that's not that bold. These are bold prediction. Scott are predictions there. It's a little like okay. okay. I think it's a little but do you think about that. One did you think would. Would you think that carry any weight. I didn't i mean. I think it's fair to take into account the injuries i think i think i think it's fair and i always have numbers for my predictions. Okay i'm i'm either putting a name to my prediction or a number two my prediction. I'm not predicting that. Nick nelson is going to take a step forward this year. I'm sorry but when you're talking about the bullpen..

Nick nelson Scott richard rodriguez brett gardner Clint frazier Stanton Bruce thirty last year twenty five thirty home six months Frazier Dj lemay giancarlo stanton aaron Thirty home runs twenty five home runs nineteen second choice

"Has made the roster. I mean everybody that was going to happen as much as people didn't want that to happen. Everybody knew that was going to happen. Because but i will. There has been some We got a real five back over here now holder who also play shortstop who's known for his glove former believers a first round. Pick back in like he was. He was one of those. Those early picks that the yankees made on the infield that that had gloves but never really panned out on the offensive side which is exactly what they have. Three guys Ceo culverts another one. Who did that. It was over holder and weighed all three. All three guys could play defense. Offense was never there. And i think that's that's where you if you look back at the way that they've drafted shortstops. You see a pattern there but a guy that can that can play the field well and you know maybe he can handle the bat a little bit better than wade. It could be an option down the road For those guys commando though again it would have to be. I think it's a situation where you know. The time just runs up on tyler wade and there's a guy that does similar things in and that's what happened so who knows. It's kind of a long shot but yeah it was interesting. It was of note for sure. Yeah and dietrich. All accepted his option. Down to Alternate site and also robinson street us. They resigned him and he'll be added to the alternate site as he's rehabbing and his initially was a six week timetable so that kind of puts him sometime in late. April i believe and they just needed needed the catching depth as insurance. I think so. We thought torino's was never not going to be an option anymore because of the issue but turns out. We might see him at some point this year. And it's a good thing to have a major league catcher back there. I mean he probably just didn't want to understand rehab And get everything back right and play again. But so that's why he accepted that or the option. And he's he he he understands that this first month or two or go to be crucial for the yankees and the catching position. So having that that major league veteran catcher sitting in aaa is a good thing for us for sure. Yeah because if if it does come situation where. Gary sanchez loses his job. I don't know how he's going to be as backup catcher. They might need to figure something else there. Well that's the other thing just having death in the backup catching position. I mean who knows anything could happen with hickey. As well having a guy like that does provide good depth and and they were very thin without. I mean there are still very thin until he's healthy but it's a good option to have anything else from spring training final thoughts before we move onto bold predictions and finally get to the regular season feels like spring training. Took six years the the pictures of the guys flying back over new york at night seeing the lights and i think geo posted on his instagram. It's it's just a it's just one of those check marks. You know what i'm saying like it's cool to see that it's called the city lights with these guys flying over you know with the With them coming back to the bronx. It's a longtime common so glad glad that that that is happening. And that we'll we'll see some fans in the stands. Tomorrow's gonna be a fun day garrett cole. First time. he's pitching in front of yankees fans first time. It's going to be great. I guess return real real for real so he can as he as he said. The other ones were dry humps. It's great quarter. That's a lot of dry helping the Can we confirm if there were pods on that plane. We got that tweet from someone like they tweeted a picture of of the of the giant plane. It's like come on. Whatever it is getting up trying to walk it off and just doing something a little different walking down those stairs crisp you know Two am air. It's it's it's a. About like john sterling's homerun calls or don't have a john sterling bold prediction this year. Yeah no it's all good. The i'm ready for it i. I'm i'm very excited about this season. I just i just did a podcast with film school. Who's another new york. Show covering the knicks yesterday. And i got i didn't realize until i started talking about it with someone else. That's kind of. That's kind of rude. well it did. Yeah it got me excited in a different way. So i got a. I realized how fired up. I was for the season so yes. I'm i'm ready to go. Let's let's let's get these predictions out. Yeah it's you know how. I feel about predictions. But yeah i'm gonna i'm gonna indulge. I'm going to indulge in the act and this is also a special episode. Because we have bob the internet. I feel like bob. The intern needs to be said in a bridget bob. The intern is on the show. Until i get need to have a british accent bob. What's up welcome to the show. We've been teasing it for a few weeks. You've been doing some stuff on the back end. But you're going to be a part of of the our weekly shows that come out on mondays. You're gonna be on those episodes going forward. What's up man. What's up guys. Thank you for having me. I'm said to be here. He's funny how everything kind of came full circle since tyler work guys but I look forward to learn from you guys in just being involved so it's going to be fun season. Yeah and part of this is you're going to have to grade us on our on how bold we are. So you're and you're gonna tracking it throughout the throughout the year to keep us honest on because two years ago. Scott predicted nineteen against the orioles. And then somehow backtracked on it and said he really predicted seventeen in two or whatever the yankees ended up finishing so it was a this this way now. We have someone who tracking it. And there's no one would have been able to tell me that i was correct. Did say that. Originally even after i showed and had you listened to the audio tape. Yeah okay. I'll be keeping tabs. I'll be closely keep keeps on his bob so bef- before we get to those those bold predictions Let's talk about the the events on monday. The last day of spring training it was. It was a weird day. And if you were if you were if you had your head buried in the sand that day and maybe you were in meetings all day then you didn't realize it but if you were just on twitter like a big portion of yankees of yankees fans. It was weird because boone was supposed to talk to the media before the final spring training game and then that got pushed back and then he his availability got cancelled and they announced brian. Cashman would be speaking to the media at about one o'clock and that got kept kept getting pushed back and then he didn't speak until at three o'clock judge meanwhile was not in the lineup for the third straight game. So naturally everyone's thinking oh. His ankle is broken. Uh-huh his yeah. What is going on with judge. Because i don't blame them for connecting those dots and we thought it was going to be a major thing to judge. It turns out. He's not in the lineup. Because he was just feeling under the weather according to boone and according to cashman are we didn't even get flu. Did we get flu like symptoms or we just got under the weather right then we just got under the weather and they had to do covid testing because obviously that's that's a big thing still so if you're feeling sick if you tell the team doctors you're feeling sick. Guess what they're going to test you for covert. They did not say anything about those tests. They said he needed to go through. Protocols are you buying. that was just like a a spring head cold or do you think there's something more like are you a hundred percent confident. Aaron judge will be in the lineup on thursday. I can't always say that. I'm a hundred percent confident to be honest the way things have gone but that being said like i think that if anybody feels anything they're they're going to delay as much as humanly possible until they get that cova test because that's what they're that's the if you're not feeling well the covid positive cova cash is the worst case scenario. I guess in that in that in that little bubble right in that in that in that isolated situation so if he doesn't have it then then it's it's much ado about nothing he's just got a dry throat or whatever it is and that's that's all it is but if the covert test comes back positive now we have a totally different situation. And he's gotta go through even more protocol. He's got to get more positive. Tests after being about the whole team could affects everything right. But you don't know that until you get the test back so that's what it sounded like the entire day was like not feel well. Coach probably should get tested. Waiting for that test was supposed to come back at one. O'clock hasn't come back up supposed to come back into it. Hasn't come back supposed to come back at three o'clock waiting throughout the day to get this thing back to make sure that it's actually Clear that's what i think happened you. You might be right. It's just. i'm so jaded that. I'm not going to believe he's in the line of just like i'm not going to believe. Clint frazier is the starting left fielder. I'm not gonna believe. Gary sanchez is the starting catcher for garrett cole until i see all those things happen and then you just and then let's here's the thing if all three of those things happen. You're not allowed to go into your conspiracy theories of like putting your head in the sand for two weeks to what he's talking about. I think that's especially should be a new rule for every everything. Everything that like goes against your your pessimism and gets confirmed as like actually being true and what they say you have the two week buffer pessimistic about something absolutely ridiculous. No that's not. That's not doing anyone. Any favors see the listeners. Like when i dig deeper. And i read between the lines because we've got to find out the truth of what's really happening with this team. So gary sanchez is going to be opening day catcher. Clint frazier is going to be opening. Day left fielder. Aaron judge is going to be opening day right fielder and be ready to play and play a full game. That's what's gonna happen. All three of those things probably aren't going to happen. What of those. Things won't happen every one of those things happen. I hope so. I've prediction that's just that's that's easy. So what the what. The update that cashman ended up giving was that they have finalized some roster spots. Tyler wade once again has made the roster michael king made the roster in nick nelson made the roster nick nelson looked pretty good in spring training so it it really does seem like michael king was added for that justin wilson spot who will start the season on the i l. when there was also a mike talk men fall off of his shin situation so there was like that was up in the air if he was going to actually be on the roster but i believe he no issues there so all to do about nothing they made us freak out and wait for like four hours and it was just to find out that tyler wade. Once again has made the roster. I mean everybody that was going to happen as much as people didn't want that to happen. Everybody knew that was going to happen..

Judge rules state must offer vaccine to all inmates 'immediately'

"Covert 19 vaccines to the state's entire incarcerated population. That's according to were ruling by a state Supreme Court judge and the Bronx. The judge wrote that people in prisons and jails have been left out of the vaccination campaign. In a way that was unjust and unfair and an abuse of discretion. Earlier this month, state prisons had quietly started offering vaccines to inmates with pre existing conditions nearly three weeks after similar individuals became eligible in the general population.

"bronx" Discussed on The Bronx Pinstripes Show - Yankees MLB Podcast

"Up everybody. Welcome to the bronx pinstripe. Show episode five hundred twenty scott before we get into the topics for today. And we're going to be a little bit deeper into the should use a six man rotation and what boone has said about the starting rotation some life updates. You know this life now. We work together full-time that's true. That is time baby. I gone over to blue wire. Podcast network you guys have obviously heard about blue our podcast through scott and the various ads and stuff that we've read for the show and i think what did what did. Jj say when you took the job how a number of wonder how long it was gonna take so we're right at a year. It was like right around a year. Which is about a year. Yeah and you're not the first or the second. You're not the first or the second to be fulltime over here now. Either all dumb. But who's the other isabel who was isabel was Georgia's boxes Editor for their first year so she is actually working in the blue our studios fulltime as as a producer as well so. Yeah we now have four people. Bronx pinstripes bringing the family with me. That's what's happening. I figured you know. When's a good time to just have have complete life shakeup when i'm having a baby a buying a house and let's just add to try let's go. Let's go for the threes rule. Good things or bad. Things happen in threes at the job to the mix. Yeah well look. It's exciting for a number of reasons one. I think everybody who's who's listened here has come along for the ride of our the lives of andrew and scott in her in her own little parallel paths as well. But now you know that we've had a lot of life events happening. There's been we've been busy and we've had you know for me over the just blowing blowing well. Growing blow blue wire for over. The past year has been huge time commitment from writing. Because it's been a lot of work. It's a startup it's been i've had my head down and just like you know just grinding in a small team. We've raised money. We've got bigger team now. You're here it's great But it's going to allow us to be more flexible with our schedules for cord more. Podcasts talk more yankees baseball and and just do some different things this year. So i know. I'm excited about that too. It's going to be a little different. We're gonna we're gonna mess up the formatting do some new things some things bring him back bringing back to voicemail consistently every week Doing really cool segments coming up. So i'm excited man. I'm glad you're you're over here working working with me as well. It's going to be a next look. Andreas the next phase of our relationship too. So this is This is how long before we rep each others heads off for real. I don't know to be honest like even before we were working together. We i talked to you more than i talked to practically anybody anyway. So it doesn't feel that different to be honest. It's just we're working on things. It's still kind of weird though. It's still you gotta get in that mindset like you said. It's still weird. Till i pull up a team like an actual work meeting and yeah your face there. No that's true. It's probably weirder for you. Just because it's a new thing and i'm here whereas you know i've known the surroundings of zoom or teams whatever. It is microsoft teams. And now you're just in here giving you were in there before too. So that's why it's not. It's not as different from me. But yeah it's it's it's gonna allow us to do a few different things this year. Which we you know not to peel back the curtain too much. But there's going to be. I think more frequent episodes but perhaps more focused. On specific topics may be a little shorter more frequent episodes. We're not going to completely reinvent the wheel on what we think makes this podcast. Good and and what we've heard from listeners. On why they like the show. And it's you and me bullshitting for an hour or so. Pretty much the yankees. Yeah and you know. Sometimes we go deeper into things analytic. Sometimes we go deeper into the test or sometimes we you know whatever talk about whatever the the soup resor of the yankees topic is that week. So that's not going to entirely change going to try and get some more guests on and a lot of different fun things. So i think we've i've said this twenty twenty sucked for a number of reasons but the baseball season sucked as well. I just don't think it was. I don't think as many people had fun following the yankees as they did in previous seasons. Whether that's because they could actually go to yankee stadium or because health. There's other shit going on in your life. It's understandable. I am really confident. Twenty twenty one is not going to suck as far as following the team. Even though yankee stadium might only be twenty percent on april first just to start. Just start a better. Yeah better than nothing present better than it was last september and october which they were infrequent san diego so i think i think a lot of change is good and as the more things change the more things stay the same. Justin wilson leaves last night's game with an injury or monday night's game with an injury so at at another tally. I guess the good news is it's it's It's not like a major major headlining all star that goes down for the yankees. No but it's another mri.

Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo reopens to the public

"WGN, the fairly new director of the Lincoln Berg Zoo with the exciting news that the Lincoln Park Zoo is open. You need to make reservations, though, which is true for just about anywhere you go right now. But I'll tell you, you can find them and it's it's worth visiting. Can you go inside buildings or Outside on Lee. I note one point We've been to the zoo several times during this pandemic on and off, and it was only outside. But I has that changed. That has changed very recently. We were given some new guidelines operate under by the state and we are able to open our buildings at a limited capacity. We're being very methodical. We do We use science and everything that we do here at the zoo, and so we're Easing into opening buildings kind of a building at a time. So currently we have two buildings that were opening when we have staffing for it, and then we're going to be starting to open more buildings as we continue to move through the spring. So I love this text that I just received. I happen to know the answer Just a bit, But I'm sure you can do better than me cans. Kines. What was what was that? I said, will be all. Of course you get kids. Ooh! Animals Get Cove. It 19. Uh, yeah. Do animals can get Cupid 19. There's been a few zoo animals around the country that have gotten covert 19. We likely have not had any of the animals at Lincoln Park Zoo. Test positive for covert 19. But we, as all accredited zoos do around the country used personal protective equipment in order to ensure I know we're all familiar with face masks and other personal protective equipment. Because of our own personal use. We use that here at the zoo all of the time, especially with animals touches nonhuman primate center susceptible to many of the same diseases that we are, and it turns out the animals at The zoo's that have been diagnosed with covert 19 are, I think was that the San Diego Wildlife Park where some of the guerrillas were diagnosed lowland gorillas with covert 19? And also Malayan Tigers, and one of the species must been Asian lions at the Bronx Zoo. If I recall also a zoo in either Tennessee or Kentucky had a big cat that had it. But the good news is all of these animals have survived that have have have had it aspires. I know anyway, across the country, And as you say zoos are so careful anyway, particularly with nonhuman primates. Well, before anyone ever heard of covert 19 you you didn't want those great apes to get a cold. Which could be passed on because they can get it except sometimes it turns into a more serious respiratory disease in gorillas in particular, so it's for a very long time. Zoos have been very careful, correct. That is exactly right. We've been careful for a very long time with good reason. We want to make sure that they don't get any cold or flu or any bugs that we have the we've been protecting them by using our personal protective equipment for Decades now, so I said, going

New Data Show New Yorkers From Low Income Neighborhoods Are Riding the Subways at Higher Levels

"Transit data from the state comptroller confirms what many suspected as W. N Y c Stephen Nessen reports essential workers in neighborhoods with lower median incomes have been riding the subway throughout the pandemic at far greater levels than people in wealthier neighborhoods. Well, the subways hit a recent milestone of two million riders a day. Average ridership is just 30% of pre pandemic levels. But new data from state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli's office find some immigrant and low income neighborhoods are seeing a dramatic return to the subways. The busiest stop last month was 138th Street Grand Concourse in the Bronx, where ridership is back to 68% of what it was before the pandemic. "The bronx pinstripes show episode five hundred and nineteen. You guys listen to the the livestream. We put out on monday morning. It was from our locker room stream that we did over the weekend during the yankees game. If you guys did listen to it. Awesome appreciate that if if you didn't you don't want to listen to live livestreams because those can be a little convoluted i think. What's did we get get around to like the semester stallone over the top movie towards the end of that like arod's relationships were coming into so obviously the topics get off track pretty quickly on those but we did talk some yankees at least half of it. Yeah no i think it's a good mix man. I really enjoy them because it gives us an opportunity to talk to just more people. It's not just you that i'm talking to which is You know that's wrong talking to me. It's just a little refreshing. It's someone else disagreeing with me even other than you. It's fine i can. I can fight for For for the things that i that i say with other people that it keeps me sharp. I'd like it nobody. It is fun. It's because other topics get thrown in People come with different perspectives. It's a lot of fun you know. We obviously want to continue to grow these. Get more people in there so that the conversations get even more complicated. Because i think they could be. They could end up being a lot of fun when when there's a lot of people in there so my favorite part was when we brought on the pirates fan and i was like asking him about a jason diane scouting report near like. He's probably never even seen them pitch like what he pitched in two thousand eighteen and then we found out the pirates fan has only been a pirates fan for two seasons so he has indeed never seen since up but but he did go to high school a rival school so he was pitching around that time. So yeah.

"Get started with. I think this person or this story broke during the summer. it's kinda hard to tell now with the pandemic. what time is like but one other prominent ones that i remember seeing that wino- was flooding. Our timeline was the story of jessica. Craig aka or formerly known as jess la. Barletta cringe already awesome early known formerly known best. I'm about that. Let's get started. Let's talk about her. Yes so this woman has allegedly and apparently apparently been taking on different like black and afro sport identities throughout her life. She's an a professor or was a professor and academic where george washington university and university teaching. You know black studies are afrikaner studies and publishing books but at some point she were shifting from being in a north african to being african american and then being afro latin next sand after boaty gua was i think the final landing place for her her official forum her final warm so jessica. Krog just aka justifiable maleta hers combination of black fishing and being a fake tina at the same time and She got called out basically rightfully so rightfully so by a group of professors who are after latina's who had issues with her they were witness to or on the receiving end of like aggression from her and like prejudice and bad behavior while she was masquerading as after let nine different contexts. Apparently being super like belligerent towards black women in my on cool and really I think overcompensating and so trying to be an ex sorted extreme caricature of like this south bronx like her. Allegedly her mother was like a drug addicts prostitutes like this narrative that should created about herself so black women in the academy you know began talking about these different experiences and came forward and said This is not right. Yeah she was definitely performing like whoa kness being extreme radical like it was very performative. She was a published academic author and she also received a ton of accolades rice. She received she was a finalist. For the twenty twenty frederick douglass prize book prize presented by yale's gilder lehrman center the study of slavery resistance and abolition. She also was nominated or a finalist for the twenty thousand nine. Do blanca president of the foundation siberian and head of human resources at keer and mass yak genetics blockchain technical leader at ibm dorota messianic many. Thanks for joining us today. Could you please give our listeners. Quick introduction on yourself. hello there are free. I'm so happy to jong these recording. And to talk with marci and to talk about the the blockchain. And i'm going to to present my point of view from the not technician and someone from hr who is really really fond of the new technology. Excellent excellent how about yourself months yet. Hi thanks for having me on your show. So on a daily basis. I am responsible for a blockchain practice at ibm For the central and eastern european region and in the context of blockchain sandbox. I was acting as lead architect of the project on the solution. So i'll be more than happy to provide an overview and share information about launching sandbox with the audience. Great grayness is perfect to have you both on this show. So the first question i've got for the both of you is as it is customer. Here intra blocks. Could you please explain to our listeners. What is blockchain. And how does it work. Okay so much and maybe i will start before we go to the technology so for me. The book chains just stopped records. He also some kind of the database. It it's at least records called blocks and these blocks are started computers. So it might be stored in mind computer in your computer at everybody's computer and i'm always Monetize what talking to to to to the children to other not. It professionals about the blockchain comparing that to the lego blocks so we have a big basket of blocks and we are trying to build at tower so we are starting to compare the blocks at the same color and we would like to be sure that each blocks which are in our phone dominates our construction. They are the special types of the bronx and nawab. There is no the black desert staking white blog and exchanging for the blog which has a different structure different information so because we are building the stars together and we all are verifying this blocks. That's why we are sure that we may create a really really nice tower. The next one is we are building a very beak building. We need to have a very strong from demands. And when it now that everything's settled caller correctly. That's why it's very important that we all the time. Between this blogs our compradors we are exchanging direct records. And we know what is going on so we know which block assemble. We are checking. If we a- something one block that the other was not changed to change so no one can lie. There's no wanna can take the weezer taking wind block and exchange with a different the different. So the blockchain is. The bench is in a bunch of computation network. And the more we use the stronger. It became great. Thank you for that definition message. You have a go. At providing the definition to blockchain. This is a great question on always a tricky one. Because you never know who will. What is exactly the a person who is asking. Ask always trying to focus on the technology aspect of of blockchain. And when someone is asking me this question. I try to define it in as few words as possible. So by taking this very purist approach a my own definition of blockchain is as follows it database of course has a very specific data structure Whereby transactions are put together Inc so a block representing an interval of time between The recording all the previous tight and The states the one that is going to go through the approval process. Each block is crypto graphically leaked to previous ducks for presenting previous types of of that same of these data structures that have been recorded and the governance over the way data is saved on chain is determined by the network and the network decides with the type of policies that saw did are established between them that they agree a palm whether certain transactions are going to be included in a block. I blamed a political climate that isn't favorable to centrist Democrats like himself is the main reason for declining to run again. He represented district that includes City Island, Pelham Bay and Throgs Neck. And although Democrats dominate the district, patches of it remain conservative. Jonah represented the Bronx in the New York State Assembly before winning the council seat in 2017. Several scandals were linked to him over the years, including one where he earmarked $130,000 in city council funds for an unregistered nonprofit tied to him. This Land Is Whose Land?

"Simon winchester joins us now from the berkshires. His latest book is called land. How the hunger for ownership shaped the modern world simon. So good to have you here. Well lovely to be a thank. You bye here. We mean of course a little bit far. The last time i think you were on this podcast it was in person but perhaps it is fitting that you are on your own piece of land for this conversation. How'd you come to want to write a book about land and land ownership by used to live in hong kong and came back in ninety seven had passed back into the hands of chinese coast. Should have done then decided largely on the advice of old enough. See then new york times correspondent in hong kong. That i should perhaps move to new england and so rather than go to london. I came to the new world. I'd be correspondent here in the seventies the eighties for the guardian and bought a little cottage town code west. Saic about one hundred ten miles. North of new york in duchess county has had few acres of garden and stuff around it but there was a a plumber from the bronx code. Caesar luria who owned a fairly tracts surrounding the house needs to come there and hunt and he was very nice man and he would off to hunting each season he would leave me a cooler with venison doorways a bottle of cognac which was particularly nice then after three or four years. He said to me that he was tired of paying the taxes on this land would i like to buy it and he named price and mice but guess why not okay so i bought the land and it was pretty useless. I have to say smith scale the north face of mountainside so. It wasn't good for raising animals. Now this fake fantasy. But one day i might but it was sort of beautiful in were couple of little streams lots of trees some of them quite magnificent they oak and hickory and of course north florida pine cherry and ash of animals. We bob cat. Once there were dare of course apply. Gm rabbits and i liked it but it was not particularly useful and eventually with this sort of fantasy. I had maybe one day. Having animals i came up here to the batches. I so that sam the house done death but kept the land and then there was this sort of major shift in my attitude towards it. When in twenty eleven i became a citizen of this country. Suddenly i realized the by owning these one hundred and thirty acres down in duchess county. I was actually invested in the country. To which is not become a citizen so then became rather interested more interested in the land itself and in history so i started digging around realized overstated. I aborted from this mr aaron. He had deep fried to that body from someone else and so the chain went back until it stopped in about the late seventeenth century. There was paperwork all the way back to then. Then i know strode duchess county in poughkeepsie. They've got all the papers but then he came to a shuddering halt because it was at that time that the documents were mainly written in dutch. Where henry hudson's explores who had come up the river. That is his name but he was working there. Being for instance she was working as an agent for the dutch. And he had first acquired land from the original settlers by non who were the mckeekan indians. But they didn't have the concept of ownership say hunted and they gathered and they settled and all the rest of it superintendent but didn't own and then i began to think well the difference between their attitude land. They're feeling was that you can never own land than you could. Own the breeze with the ocean. To maya too is. This is mind. Shoo everybody away. You start at the right to do so. That was an interesting development. And i thought maybe there would be a book and so i put it to my editor and she said yes. That would be an admirable idea. But don't keep the united states only have a look at where this originated and how it's because around the world and so that was not traveling and wondering about oh beginning in duchess county.

"bronx" Discussed on The Bronx Pinstripes Show - Yankees MLB Podcast

"Can can Louis a man michael king bia swingman but if their plan is still for five innings out of your four out of your bullpen. I don't know if that's gonna hold up of a season. It has never held up for house. Smells can hold up with one. Less bullpen are so. I think there's definitely some opportunities on the car racer that they're gonna fill. I i think that there. I don't think that they see the bullpen as a major place that they have to improve. I think i don't think it's a major recess. I think he'd take us up. I think he's been a much better than any fan in ever will give him credit for. I think that they They also i think nick nelson showed pretty well last year and i could see him taking another step up i. I think that they are going to look at him and give him an opportunity. The wiser they've really got to figure out whether it's you know him limiting the two two innings the him going one inning. I think that that's exactly what they should do. One inning guy. Perfect three pitches. Maybe just two pitches and go out there and dominate and then mingle hormones. Another guy. Potentially where you could see him coming out of the bullpen. So i want you to. I want to before we wrap up. our Was really focused on the kluber news for this episode i wanna do one mailbag question and it kind of talks about what we're doing right now with the rotation and the bullpen is from andrew sharrock from fairfax virginia. Set by. You know these got he says. Hey guy i thank god. Dj l. m. is going back to the bronx longtime listener. First-time mail bagger. I was reading an article on the athletic about d h two point. Oh the double hook jayson stark dubbed it. The rule would attach the spot in your lineup with your starting pitcher so a team would lose the d. h. When they take out their starting pitcher my two twofold question for you is one. Do you think this would be good for baseball. And fix some of the concerns over pitcher use and to do you think this will change would benefit or hurt the yankees. I think this would bring a ton of excitement to the game and bring back the importance of the starting pitcher and keep teams like tampa from using an opener. Three times per rotation. This is a rule that nfl teams would love. Alexxa would hate. But i think it would strike a compromise to see the d. h. In both leagues as well as maybe see a pitcher consistently pitched three times through. The order is for the yankees. Actually think this rule would be terrible at the moment. They're the only starter we have that we can trust pitch fast past the fifth inning is garrett cole all i can see with this rule are four to five days where stanley gets up bats because the soft tissue injuries are too great of a concern to play him in the field and guys like clark schmidt michael king are not going to give seven innings consistently in twenty twenty one. So i think is great ruled for baseball but terrible short term for the yankees. I think he nailed it. As far as it's good for the yankees. But i would actually a really intrigued by this rule this is a good little deviation from from what we've been thinking about here by How to fix baseball. Yeah this is interesting. So who did this jayson. Stark jayson stark lucia by him. To be honest. I don't know but you have a h. To start the game but as soon as you're starting pitcher comes out of the game you lose the designated hitter so your options are have the pitcher hit or do double switches for the rest of the game. Which is what they would end up doing. But it's still a deterrent from taking your starting pitcher out a double switch for the rest of the game it's You lose the. Oh yeah it is so you. You have to remember time. The pitcher comes up. You would have to double switch. Yeah that's super interesting I don't i don't hate it. The first is the first time i've heard it and i kinda like it. To be honest it does give you the the designated hitter in both leagues. I could see the national league people being okay with this because it's it's you know giving them an element of Still making those changes theoretically. We don't have to look at pitchers hit. We didn't want to write. There's an option here and there is bringing a lot more strategy into the playoffs and taking guys out. Just can't do it. You know at the drop of a hat like everybody does now. So i actually really liked this a lot and i do agree that it's shitty for the yankees because the way that their roster is stacked out right now on the pitching side on the rotation side specifically it's not good not good No sacrifice that in the short term to get this rule into baseball. I don't think they can do it immediately. Because i think this changes the way a roster is put together so i think this would be something that would be another one of these tests in the minor leagues if minor leagues are a thing anymore and then and then you know implement a year or two down the line. Because you definitely have to make adjustments for something like this you could change the complexion of roster could. Yeah another way instead of instead of just getting more starting pitchers that go deeper into games. You could just say we're going to have benched players that can hit more so we're basically going to pinch hit every time the pitcher comes up and still clint freight air In wwe for the tyler. Wade yeah yeah. There's opportunities there you'll have guys stole that your bench players will maybe not be as defensive. Maybe not as many defensive prowess guys out there because they're gonna hit once again. Rob center bill to get back in the league. This might be his opportunity here. He could do both great. He's loving this. So i i like it it's intriguing. It is of the newest baseball little tweaks that we've heard over the past couple years. I feel like this is by far the best. Because i haven't immediately shut on it or been been offended by it or like hated it. It feels like baseball. It does feel like baseball. It feels like a like a natural type of move that is blending rate now. Managers are like. Oh he's at eighty five pitches in the third time through. The order is coming up. Pull no questions asked but this would add some doubt to that decision. Yeah no i like it. I liked that wrinkle. I like the fact that they would have to think about that twice. And not just because there's a a brick wall at you know. Seventy five pitches. Eighty pitches whatever it is or x amount of times through the rotation earth through the lineup..

clark schmidt andrew sharrock nick nelson Eighty pitches michael king two pitches last year garrett cole Seventy five pitches Three times five days stanley five innings Wade twice one inning three times three pitches One inning First

"Were really excited about launching. This is our intro show. So in the show. We're gonna introduce ourselves sort of who we are. How we got involved with the site. Were both huge yankee fans as. I'm sure everyone listening is so just sorta talk about what what we do what we wanna do at the show and take it from there so scott you started the website bronx pinstripes dot com about four years ago. joins us talk a little bit. About how you started that and why you started that. Yeah for sure. So i'm first of all. I'm glad we could finally do this. We've been talking about it for a while and getting the podcast off the show off the ground so He's going to be fun. Talking yankee baseball pretty much all year as far as the the website itself i i started the site where we say four years ago when when it was actually ny universe right If you were actually the first person to come on and right so you're You're employee number two. If you will do anything for that. I get like yeah. I'll give you a high five next time. We go to a game options or anything like that. I'll buy you a beer. I will buy you a beer. The next game all right. I'll take to celebrate that but yeah so we started out as a universe and then i got a very nice polite letter from a major league baseball in the new york yankees saying that they didn't like our name that it was a little too close to a couple of their Their their trademark. So we changed it to bronx pinstripes and I think for the better. I mean bronx. Pinstripes is a kinda fell in love with the with the name and the website has really progressed. Since i mean started originally was for when i was away because i left the new york area to school and it was a way for me to really keep up with the team Not being around the local media and just just you know an another opportunity for me to keep up with the team as much as possible. I mean an absolute szeswith yankees love yankee baseball. I grew up in North jersey and Bergen county about twenty twenty five minutes from the stadium. So i used to go to games. Thomas kid and yeah just Ever since ever. Since i was a child man been been completely Entrenched into yankees. I think we share that I grew up in rhode island and actually right now. I live in boston. And i know you know that but So you can imagine how difficult that is Being such a diehard yankee fan living in boston with all those mass whole red sox fans who sort of gimme shit. All the time in the last year wasn't bad because they sucked but the year before when they that world series was just brutal. But i sort of started after college. I was As i'm sure most people are just bored at work i wanted to talk about baseball rather than excel spreadsheets and stuff. So i started a tumbler in a twitter account. I think goes like may actually spring training twenty eleven and i saw your site and i saw you were looking for writers. I just shot you an email and sort of just evolved from there and it's funny. You mentioned the new york yankees university forgot. We were once called that yup and moons ago. Yeah many terrible graphics home. God but i think like you said it's good now. Bronx pinstripes dot com. it's more. It sounds more like a fan driven thing which we are rather than an actual affiliate affiliated site but the mlb sticklers for their for their property. yeah i mean absolutely they they They definitely protect it with everything and you know. That's that's their right to do that. So we we just tried to Minor ps and qs. And and do everything the right way as much as we possibly can. So yeah we definitely respect the fact that they have their trademarks and and that they owned us. You know we move forward as best we can. I think we've Bronx pinstripes evolved from that. And i think it's actually Yeah like you said man. It's a really good thing. I think the name suits us a lot better. Yes and so again. Just what we're gonna do here in this episode Get into what what we're going to do with the show. It's going to be a weekly show Different topics each week. Talk about what happened. You know how the yankees did over that last week breakdown. Some prospects breakdown you know some managerial decisions. I'm sure girardi will do. Some stupid shit will will get on them for and take it from there. So another thing we're going to do. We're going to have guests come on. you know. we have a bunch of writers on the site. It's not just the two of us and we all have different personalities So we want to get those guys on and talk about their opinions about the team in about baseball and You know everyone doesn't different. You know You know one of our guys rich on site. He's a huge fan. So i'm i'm sure that'll be fun when we have him on. ryan's a really big in a fantasy baseball and he watches every game. I think he watches every major league game. If that's possible. So he's unreal Brian he likes to talk about some of the historic stuff Current stuff so it should be really fun show. We got going on here. Yeah definitely. I'm really excited to bring a lot of those guys onto and like you said everybody brings their own little element to to the yankees and to the phantom if you will and And to the show for sure We have some guys that only people from the site that we're going to bring on but we're definitely going to be looking to bring on other people to talk baseball. Guys who are very much in tune with the minor league systems I know dan pfeiffer one of our guys does some stuff with trenton. And we're going to have him on to talk about a lot of our prospects And then you know. Maybe we'll get crazy. Invites a mother opposing fan fan sites onto to get a little bit of little bit of a back and forth. Yes that'd be awesome. I don't know however go but that'd be awesome. Maybe i can get stoned. My buddies up here in boston at come on us at sox fans yeah i would love to talk and have a lot of things to say to them so Another thing i wanna to do sort of get to know us is Talk about what are walkup. Music would be for baseball. Whether you walk up to the plate or enter you know from the from the bullpen. Like mariana. or something like that and we're going to do this with all the guys that come on the show you know. Just get into their brain a little bit about Personnel what type of music. So scott put you on the spot. What would your walk up. music bay. like i've never thought about my walkup music right. So i probably do one of two things and and maybe mixed in you know throughout the season if i were if i were the starting shortstop for the new york yankees but why starting shortstops. That's true that's true. I can feel the bar about hitting maybe a recent mendoza line but highly doubt it The two things that would be. I i have to i have to that..

"Only way. And i just land rate on my elbow on some on some hard snow slash ice. I knew immediately. It just felt terrible. And i can feel i can feel it bone chip and every now and again i'll do something a lift something up or move at a certain way and it's frequent hurts. I know a jewish l. is going through. I need some clean. i i think i legitimate. I think i have a torn ligament in here. That's just healed by itself and just not the right way and they're scarred tissue and there's just a bunch of trash in there as well Do you can call camp golf. Pga the the mountain in mala. It's like five minutes from where you're living right now. There's a there's not a mountain it's not a it's it's it's a it's a downhill slope. It's a small place to go skiing skiing. Anyway might My cousins would they ran kept off for a long time and they. They ran the the ski team in a bunch of stuff there. Anyway we will go to camp. I am not a skier. I've tried to give me the ski. Occasionally like six six or seven years ago with my brother and i was the guy that was barreling asked down the hill. It kept gets iced over very frequently. And it's just. It was just a frequent ice ramp. Just a medium size hill with pure i- solid ice. I could not stop. I had no control of what i was doing. I just went and my brother was laughing. His ass off at me. And i had to go into a full slide. I was like. I don't know how to stop. I'm going to kill people. So i just i just slid into second base. You know that was the way. I knew how to stop so like this. Is what's going on hockey stopped until down on my stomach for or face a hockey so you stop with blades on and i essentially did that and just use this way and i just went and i just laid down to stop. Yeah you almost killed nine. People including children do the power slide which is basically an extended hockey. Turn when it's is the power slide through. That's what i tried to do. But i was vertical or horizontal fast. Have you heard of the hbo documentary. Class action park. Yes i've watched it. I haven't seen yet. Did you ever go to that. What i did is kid. I knew you would have. I knew you. us snuck out to. I don't think i ever told my parents. I was going there but i've been there a couple of times. Did you go on the loop de loop slide. I don't think i ever went on that day. that thing. i forgot about that. And when i watched that was like my god. That's a death trap. Everything there was good they got. They got stoner's in from high school building. Everything there was a death trap. I do remember going on The alpine slide which was the concrete slide. That goes down. You're a little sled. Essentially but it's concrete gun have like an arm break dach- it shows knows noser efficient. That thing was no joke every corner. You've felt like you were gonna fly off jabba helmet on and you don't remember probably not but i don't remember i do remember thinking i was gonna die on that thing for sure and probably one of the most Fearful peer pressure moment of my life was on the tarzan swing. That's real to watch it. But i haven't seen the documentary yet. You have this. Tarzan swing over from twenty feet. Fifteen feet up. It's pretty high up and you jump on you go on the tarzan swing and in the line is just like going along the water area so you can watch the people going and this is people basically screaming like yelling at you to go calling your name call you a pussy and like all these things like you're just getting heckled the entire time to a point where it's like you you you have to go to get away from it and you're watching people go on their think they have upper body strength and just fall just like they tried to go on and just hit the ground and it's like oh my god like there. Are people going down. Left the one after another just soldiers falling and body slams like full a frontal is like into the into the water from fifteen twenty feet. It's amazing what peer pressure again. And i'm just like. I just want to go you know. I'm like sixteen years old. It's like i just need to get out of here and just go on this thing and try not try not to humiliate myself So i remember that very vividly. And i six hundred so hold on there was no there was no padding or anything underneath where the people would fall there water. Oh okay i thought you meant there was like a space between where you start the tarzan swing and you reach the water but it's all water. There's water yeah and you reach out to get it. People would not make it sometimes just fall flat on their face and it's a long drought. It was a long drop. And i remember exactly. The and the water was freezing. Insanely cold so it was not a good situation. It really wasn't not a good situation as this would have been sort of been like what you're like mid nineties. Yeah like mid to late nineties mid to late nineties. I felt like that's the last era. You could get away with having a park like this. That place was not. It was fun because it was like. You know you're you're you're like okay. I might die. That's cool. Let's go you don't you don't have any fear for that. Because the actual thought of dying is really not in your. You're invincible at that point right so you don't think that's going to happen but you know it's impossible you see someone die. There were people. I'm pretty sure that was the place where someone Girl got her mistake. Have been great adventure. I don't mortar. The the the drought where you got the free fall drought where someone's girls hair got caught. I've heard yeah yeah awesome. There's some things there was. There was definitely something that happened to like jacuzzi. The you. Hbo is also going to see documentary. That airing late december december twenty second. It's two thousand. And nineteen behind the scenes footage and see narrates it and i know c c. Does he did something else with. Hbo didn't he. I feel like he did something else with. Hp he's been on the lebron. "The last. two years have been better than any organization at extending championship windows. They took the mid. They took the ninety dynasty through two thousand twelve. That's unheard no and the reload to brian cashman's credit. Although many people will not give him credit for anything pitching related but the the reload that he did in two thousand sixteen was impressive. And i thought gutsy because it was not the not. The yankee thing to do is not something that was. There was really much of a precedent for but he did he do on the pitching front though he owned he has away. The reliever is saying there's a lot of people that shit on him pitching which is doing. That's fair yeah. I think very fair here. We are here. We are in two thousand two hundred twenty two thousand twenty one off season. We're talking about the yankees have won starting in. You know we're about to talk about the fact of potentially going going out and trading for sunny freaking gray. That's what we're about to talk about. No so so lindsay. Add the wrote that in the athletic it about reunions with yankees previous yankee. Starters you mentioned jay hap- lance lynn. Who now we know is what the white sox we she mentioned gray. And i forget the other what James paxton the sunny great thing. Bloomington ockers in the in the mix of of these conversations. Were talking about the yankees. not even. there's there's there's talk that the yankees aren't even interested in extending him so or bring in. That's what andy martino reported in. S n y although. We've seen caspian do this before lurk in the darkness. not no. He's in he's in ninja in the offseason cashman's indonesia you like to hear honesty from him. I like to hear nothing. Or or i like the mystery. Because he's playing a game it's he he strategic when he's honest because he last offseason was very honest they were in on garrett cole right. You almost can't be honest. you can't get i about that. No i know but when it's when it's when it's on the obvious and it's in your face. Yeah he's going to be like okay. Fine yes so but when but he what. Brian cashman has behind. Him is the yankees engine. Which which can spend more money than anyone even more money than the dodgers even though the dodgers have outspent them in recent years so what he can do when he's in on garrett cole he can scare off some some some teams so he can tactically say. Yeah we're going. We're going in big donald trump. When he but other guys tanaka or james paxton or maybe a trade for lance lynn. All these other when he knows he's going to have tons of competition and he knows that he doesn't want to drive the price up because he's not willing to go over the top for these guys. He lurks darkness. He's like bane he lives. He was born in doctors. There's a bunch of There's a bunch of scenarios we could look at the other side of that two. Gm's or you know. He's he's playing chess. And i like it so it's it's good. I think good things. I don't want my gym to be completely honest with me to be to be to be honest. But if if these this reporting is right and the yankees are not looking to add to their starting rotation. They're in deep doo doo for twenty twenty one. Yeah we're doing the same thing we did. Unless unless the kids come up and and And completely shine and george. Montgomery returns the form which. I do believe that he can. I think he's gonna be. I next year is the year that We're we're looking at jordan. Montgomery as as as you know being a solid number. Three number. Four pitcher i. That's that's where i think he's ceiling is and i think that that's the and that's great but that's not going to win you a championship. It certainly can help you need that. You absolutely need that. You need a guy like that. During mccomb has got the ability to go deeper in games. I think he's he's he's a very good fit for the rotation so i think that they believe that he will be fully healthy and akkad point. Here's here's what. Lindsey wrote in the athletic in her article about the yankees. Bring back sunny greg. James paxton the reds appear to be salary dumping this offseason particularly evidenced by the trade. They made on monday to send closer. Russell iglesias to anaheim for light return would gray be available on the trademark. It seems likely know. Would he even remotely be a candidate for return to new york. Conventional wisdom says no by a lot can change in a few years. And i just have two words for you. Have your vazquez yet. they're different though. Because sunny grades. A bitch and javier vazquez didn't smile at all of us and didn't didn't do the off off the field. I don't even remember what he did off the field but no. He didn't do anything but the point is that he did not perform in new york and then he he performed before new york then he didn't perform in new york and then he performed after new york and then he didn't perform in new york and then he performed after new york some guys. Jj said this before. They have doodoo down their pants immediately when they see the empire state building. I believe that as well. I believe there is a lot of things that go beyond the the actual pitching in the mount. Everybody is blaming. Larry rothschild at this point because now that we've seen what sunny gray done in cincinnati. Oh by the way with his pitching coach from college. The guy that has to be with him for him to have any success but they see that and now we're like okay. This guy is would be an addition that would be positive for this team. We want him back. So there's there's a lot of you know blind faith that those skills those numbers are going to now translate when he's in the bronx in the in the in the pinstripes and i just maybe it's maybe no fans in the stands will help him so maybe that maybe this is an opportunity for him. Okay so then what happens what happens twenty gets on the zoom calls and so this is actually starting sunday. Grapevine loves this whole scenario no touching. He doesn't have to get near..

"One prospect. If you don't include dominguez who's fifteen years old with the body of a twenty eight year old. I get what you're saying. So so but what you're saying is clark schmidt or deputy garcia is more important to the yankees than to the white sox and that might be true but as far as quality of prospect goes there basically essentially the same yes as far as the rankings. Us so from a league wide perspective from an outsider. Looking in if it was clark schmidt or debbie garcia not both or four lance lynn. That would be exactly comparable trade. And i think a what i thought in my gm plans was was what was going to happen. I had clark schmidt in a mid level prospect for for lance lynn. You had Mcgowan and dimicco. Her ma for land slid a little bit different. Actually probably depending on what you look at. If if you're looking at major league ready talent you gave up way too much in that trade. But if you're looking at prospect talent then then i give up more in the trade. Yeah i mean kind of but not really again if you're looking at the total pipeline um numbers than then not really that much to be honest there there again very very close. you know. that doesn't really also way what's happened in the major leagues. So there's a there's a world where i think some gm's will Rank dave david garcia higher than what you see in the pipeline rankings. Those are not refreshed rankings So you know they usually do them mid-sized but i'm saying now david some experience under his belt. He's shown that he can handle the. Here's a postseason start cash. It does yeah. I don't even know if a qualified anything it does. It's the star is a start under his belt so he So i think that you know. Put a little higher cartwright. We saw struggle at the end of the year as well. So you know that's fresh in people's minds at the same time but yet look the rangers. I think we're looking for the best opportunity to to give it up. They should treated him last year and they would have gotten much better. They screwed up who years two years in a row. They've screwed up trading their pitching prospects and have gotten to no. I'm not saying he's not not much. That's that's something. It's a major league ready arm. But that's really all they got for. You know him. And mike minor two guys that they traded for much higher stakes. They got one pitcher. Who's probably a ceiling at a number four. Three three to four max so overwhelmingly yankees fans did not wanna make this trait. 'cause i put out. A poll should the yankees traded concerns. Let's just make sure we're talking about that. And they represent the worst of the worst. But i put out the poll. Should they have traded schmidt or garcia in a package for lance lynn and eighty two percent. Hell no okay. So i don't know where you land. I would have done that trade. Because i had it in my gm plans. Because the way i look at it is. You're not hurting both. So that's good so you try. And if you think clark's mundell arcia are comparable in prospect With they're going to be in their major league career. Then then you have confidence that either could be a good major league pitcher. You don't care who you give up. May maybe the yankees favor one over the other and they would try and push the rangers towards towards one. I know a lot of people. Think ceus size will eventually hinder him in the major leagues. So that could be one thing. And that would lean the yankees to favor. Clark schmidt fine so if you would rather trade garcia than schmidt i get it but lance. Lynn can help you win the world series in twenty twenty two. He has been he twenty one. What is twenty twenty. I'm losing track of the years at this point as he's just twenty twenty the whole goddamn ear in twenty twenty one because he believe it or not has been one of the best pitchers in baseball for the last two seasons. Yes in the top of the yankees rotation right. Now is very much in flux. There's one guy who's dominant. They have an ace and four question marks so and for anyone who thinks luis severino is coming back this year. He's coming back from. Tommy john surgery hopefully in june or july. Who knows what he is. You cannot count on. Luis severino being a number two pitcher. There's a lot of guys really find them selves getting back until the second year they get back so that montgomery i kind of one that i you know that first bit when you when you're when you're back on the team It yeah we'll see what happens with them. But i'm not expecting you know vintage seven art even what that is but peaks of reno you know. That's two thousand eighteen major seen. We've already seen it but two thousand. It's very. I think it's more realistic to understand. And to set expectations for two thousand twenty two which is actually not next year is the year that severino is. I'm circling dot year as as his. You know we'll see what he is at that point we'll see if he's fully doubt if do you What do you think the yankees window to win. A championship is realistic window to win a championship. Well i think it's look we. We talked about this in the gm plans. And i i the next two years and the reason. I emphasize the next two years. Because of what's happening in arbitration guys are going to be signed guys are not going to be signed. The they've got some decisions to be made in that time guys are aging. Guys are aaron judge. He earned judges not. He's not a mid twenties guy anymore. He's gonna be in his thirties that being said if they're able to if some of these pitching prospects. Let's say david garcia and clark schmidt both just for conversation conversation sake. Become very good. Major league pitchers now you have a rotation of garrett cole luis severino coming back and then a couple of guys and then who knows what they do if you have a pitching staff. That's that's formidable. Like that and you young pitching staff. You could build around that so if the next two years are working and possibly because of injuries you know for whatever reason it's not it doesn't mean that the yankees can't add onto what they have and and be very very good but different different guy so like it's take talking about the window it's with the with a grain of salt for sure because the yankees will go out and make moves and make themselves competitive and potentially theoretically. That could be better. It could be for the better of the entire team. Maybe who knows. So if you're if you're looking at the at the current roster of what we have now to me this kerr rosser has a window of two years. Yeah maybe it's a little longer. Because i kind of compare to two thousand nine when the yankees went out and signed c c sabathia and they got four years of peaks. A bath you as their prime window. Nine ten eleven twelve. They went to the in two thousand twelve so of course they were still in the championship window. But then the wheels fell off so the achey sign garrett cole to a massive contract in two thousand twenty so twenty twenty one twenty two twenty three maybe twenty four. But it's really maybe just till twenty twenty three so three more years. I mean i think i think peak garrett cole okay fine but i think it's going to be taking more than that. That's kind of my point. It's gonna take more than just gary cole. We have pekar call right now unless you're adding on or you're building the team around him. It's not gonna matter. Garrett calls not enough he's great he's and more things happen than just tabatha not being good and thirteen mark. Teixeira alex rodriguez derek jeter every clip and hit. The this is different. This is a different sense because different. It's about contracts rather than age right but it might be also injuries could be interest so so many guys on this team have dealt with injuries in their twenty s. Imagine what they're going to be like in their third. I would no i don't want to. I don't wanna. I don't wanna go down that road but you're right there can be. There could be a cliff in that sense or it could drag out in like they'll sprinkle injuries like we've had over..

"Running your life might get nor sleep. I'll deal with this. Yeah oh my bank account information so there. That's way too much work. Yeah so we. Because if for whatever reason we've we've gone from soundcloud to the second lipson called libson and then we were over at audio boom and then and then blue wire so it's been like a four stage and to actually because the first one was i forget the name of it There was a different. There was one before Simple casts so. Yeah there's there's been five so people listening to this like that don't know what any of those words mean. The point of this is when we took the podcast from those different places forever is like the first two and a half months of the show just disappeared into the eight because if you go back on i tunes now or you go back on any platform. Whenever you're listening on stitcher spotify it only goes back to an episode in may of two thousand and fifteen. It was the episode after michael pineda struck out. Seventeen baltimore sleek and we're on flee hitler. Yeah we were all excited it was. It was a mother's day episode. And we're like oh my god. The yankees have a new ace. This granary realized his talent and used it little. Did we know that was that. Was the pinnacle of michael. Pineda's yankees career was that sunday afternoon. I mean was a great day. Good day he he was. He was on on fleet as michael. Kay said we sat. There was one shirt made and sent it to him to k- An he opened it on air like the the week after that. But that was Yeah that was. That was a shining moment for michael. Pineda that was see those who are the problem moments that i had with him because he would flash in the pan he would flash and be like i am dominant i am. I'm six foot seven. I throw a billion miles per hour of got. Good life on my fast ball. I've got good change up. I've got good off speed. Remember what pitches he had. And but i suck eighty five percent of the time but the one. The one percent nationalist tantalizing those tantalizing fifteen percent. But the but what i'm saying is those previous episodes just are not available to to people. And we've been asked like hey where your first whatever it is fifteen episodes. I don't know where they are there on southbound. We found that there onsite actually didn't know where that is soundcloud started. They're knocking you pay for them. So right they're not public on we. Can we put them up on. The ended up backdated. Well if we want to. Because they'll spoiler for the the eighteen minute first episode. It's not very good. It's bad in fact. I don't know if we want to put out those first fifteen episodes but i'm glad we found it because it was a nice trip down memory lane. I immediately got flashbacks of recording. We're going to talk about all that towards the end there. Certainly some a lot of news. That happened yet. So we're gonna we're gonna attack on the first episode number one at the end of this episode as well so as we as we leave the show You know after the after the the song there are Are post postal song. I can't talk right now. five hundred episodes. I think i learned how to talk. We're gonna play that first episode so if you if you care and you wanna laugh a little bit go ahead skipped through. It's it's kind of amusing. Andrew andrew's really bad in. It was the first podcast. I ever curate. You had you had already recorded guests dot with a different show. Yeah so that's not fair. It's not fair but it's true life isn't her lance lynn. Big news that came out of nowhere not that he was treated because we knew he was gonna get traded or the. We knew the the rangers were looking at trade him but him going to. The white sox came out of nowhere and for price that i don't think that crazy. I know some yankee. Fans balk at trading debbie garcia or clark schmidt saying how you no way not for lance lynn because they remember meet sweat lance lynn from from the yankees was actually pretty good. But he wasn't. He wasn't top pitcher in baseball. Which what he's been for the rangers. No and he wasn't even. I mean he was barely a starter. He was a guy that was ready was coming remember. He came in. Yeah he did it. He had a bunch of different roles he was a he was a A guy that was flexible. Even though hotdog breath probably is very flexible in real life. it look it was a good So the deal the deal. The deal was for dane dunning and another. What mid level prospect. Dunning the five prospect in the white sox organization ninety nine overall if you're looking at pipeline so if you're comparing the prospect rankings you're looking at clark schmidt at eighty three and Debbie at eighty seven and pipeline respectively. So they're close right. There's not that much of a difference as far as like top one hundred prospects. Here's the difference in perspective or perception number. Five prospect with the white sox. There's a couple of pitchers ahead of him. He's gotten some time he's a guy that they thought was going to be. Good another guy that came over in the trade to The nationalist from adam eaten oh by the way who they just signed as well so that the band is back together over there but dunning. So i had some major league experience. But it's not like he wasn't the number one prospect in the system. And i think that when yankee fans looking at clark smith david obviously david garcia won over some hearts and minds right at the end of the season. And we've been hurting about. You've been hearing about him for a while. Karch mitt not so much but he's our number one pitching prospect number one prospect. If you don't include dominguez who's fifteen years old with the body of a twenty eight year old. I get what you're saying. So so but what you're saying is clark schmidt or deputy garcia is more important to the yankees than to the white sox and that might be true but as far as quality of prospect.

"But if he's going to get twenty five million, he's going to get a twenty five million dollar contract from from Japan to go back to his old team. Thanks Tanaka it was a really fun. Seven years I'm sure the angels. The Angels Easier Congress Day, another veteran pitcher to that's past their prime to sign. Your see with what was a guy goes over to America and does well, like Tanaka on the Yankees you signed him back for twenty, five, million a year you it's like it's marketing. You mean, for the for a Japan for the Golden Eagle Yeah he's a he's a hero back there. So yeah, it's different two different play. The top pleasure different talent, he may go over there and have a phenomenal season. The top player in their league six, million dollars a year. Yet. So there's different places in his his wife is a pop superstar. Yeah. I've never heard any of her songs though. Would you know if you've heard them? No yes. In the you align the power couple back in. Japan. It. Yeah I don't know. Do you think Tanaka still wants to? Do you think Tanaka would rather pitch for a MLB team, not the Yankees or go back to Japan. I. Don't know I. Don't know what his. From his comments, the public comments about the end of the contract it seemed it seemed to me that that it was almost like a a little a little bit of closure thing for him. Trying to. Sacrifice Tutsi- trying to sacrifice like what what could be his last start and make it a positive experience in the playoffs because it wasn't good in the regular season, and now there's two of them that are both that are both not good So bad taste in your mouth. I don't know if that's something that he wants to correct or he's just like. going. To cut it and go somewhere go somewhere else. Well, I think if if he's done with the Yankees in five years from now, we're not going to necessarily remember Tanaka for his. Playoff performance well, first of all people are excusing his Cleveland start because of the weather and and I think it's SORTA like not to compare these two. Jordan on the wizards no one remembers no one remembers Jordan sucking in two thousand and really really kissel because we're Jordan won multiple championships in the team before and I said I'm not comparing the two I just couldn't think of another analogy of Willie mays on the mets right movie mazes also hall of Famer and it's also it's also a different team. Yeah. On saying is. In. Five Year our people will remember the bulk of the positives and not the last the. Yeah I agree people will remember playoff Tanaka in his. None of those playoff Tanaka moments landed in championship so They're not in Europe Yankees Laura. So maybe he'll just be forgotten into the ether poof gone. Yeah. He could be he just he's another guy that was on the team that didn't win. He was a piece of the puzzle that was a big hype. It was a big fit and didn't have didn't pay dividends. Do you think not based off market value based off of results? Do you think the contract was worth it on their injured fifty million dollars? Value yes they I. Think they got a it wasn't all on Tanaka shoulder not winning by any means for result didn't happen like you said the the you know the combined. Powers it were these guys are more powerful individually than they are as a unit and I think that affected. His his tenure because it could have been different early on. He pays. His best seasons also were on the worst teams. Yeah that's the problem. Doesn't equate the championships. but Yeah I mean. So as far as the press conferences go. Like we got the gentleman was is big is a big point and basically they're talking about up we're going to do what we do every year we're going to let this team evaluate this team. We're going to evaluate the pieces and and make appropriate. Decisions and offers where we deem. Necessary and will feel good about that which which is which. Has. Me Worried, do you think they're setting up for a dry offseason because style talking about how they lost a ton of money and cashman and Boone are talking about how they have their process and evaluate and have the discussions on what we're GONNA do I don't necessarily think they're setting themselves up for something like that because we've heard them say that they're not going to do much or they'll do. It seems like this hit the same thing, every single year, and then all of a sudden they don't. They don't WanNa play their hand. They go out years ago, and then Giancarlo Stanton gets right gets gets traded for from and train cashman and jeeter happens Brian Cashman says that there are fully operational death star and then everyone thinks that means they're going to sign Bryce Harper and then they don't even talk to his agent so. Yes. So nothing means anything. DC Sweeney Sweeney murdy wrote those He wrote an article or he did something where he basically was like, Hey, Yankee stopped trying to be the death star it blew up twice. No sure. I mean, that's that's been something that's been pointed out early on the death star actually wasn't a good thing in the rebels beat it. By getting the right by finding their Achilles heel and and just poking and poking and poking and poking until the Guy Damn thing blows up and that's the strikeout. Is. It the strikeout or is it the starting pitching? If, you're looking at one thing probably look strikeout the strike out the fact that you don't make any contact with the pitching is spread upon like actually had some good moments in their from guys he didn't expect. So is Luke skywalker Kevin cash or is Luke skywalker arena or is it? No who's Luke Skywalker on the race did? INSERT MLB team here. You know it's just like whoever's up that you're if the rebels just like all the new star wars like there's there's different people there have been different people fighting this. It's not a it's not a long term thing. You got little segments, little iterations of people who are beating you but at the end of the day. They're still getting the. Yup Yup Yup Yup. All Right I. Be The rebel force much the rebel force will they win in the end? So yeah. So can we do that? skywalker is like a high priced free agent. I'd say that the force has a number of high price free agents. No Walker Scour wasn't free agent. He was he was a use a homegrown talent. He was a homegrown. Okay fine well. You could. You could go both ways on that the the he's chose the right, the right path, but the thing is. There were high priced free agents. Okay. When you look at the the Ron Solo Han Solo's a high price free agent. The demoniac Falco Falcons just alone. You add you start adding in The guys that were on that ship..

"The Yankees have had against the raise this season they are down by five runs in the fourth inning, get second and third with one out talk men and Sanchez, coming up talk men whiffs in an in a non-competitive bet he's websit Yup Sanchez whiffs in a non-competitive at bat no runs the team. In so predictable what this team is going to do in situations like that. So predictable. And for a guy like talk are you are you expecting a better bat for on that? I know he's been playing terribly but yet talk men should be giving more competitive at bats. Agree. I agree guys like talking to need to be competing in that in that box to to get to get as A. General and and just coach speak as possible I need some better competition in that box I. Don't need my I don't need savages in that box better competition in that box and you to actually have good at-bats in that box. You talk about leverage moments we talked about high leverage low leverage medium leverage a couple of weeks ago couple episodes ago high leverage situation. The Yankees seemingly have their least competitive at bats. Yes. I mean we talked about this dude. I understand that for sure also Tampa completely gets rid of those stats because of the guys that they bring as well. So and let the high leverage situations at the end of games I don't even want to go through this whole thing again because there's no, there's no witness. It is what it is. The way that the stat reads to me it's just a skewed stat it doesn't tell the whole story so. The way that relievers especially Tampa like it I don't even hold that much weight in that stat because stir so many guys that they're throwing out there. That are high leverage situation pitchers that come at you with something different. Anything else you want to meeting yeah okay. Yeah. I do I want to ask Because I missed something again I was I had I had toddler kemp delays. It's very difficult to get that get watched the first inning of seven o'clock game. When like the bedtime what the hell was the drone thing I come I'm like everybody's. Thrown in this guy. I don't know I. So I don't know if that was. I. Don't know what that delay. So it was a drone I-. Thrown I saw I know about a drone did and if people found out on twitter who the drone was I dunno some guy in the bronx just wanted to get a camera angle inside the Bronx the inside the stadium I. Was Manning the drone got it was a drone delay. was. Tampa drone delay was it was it? It was Trevor Bauer outside he's just manning the drone. When be surprised maybe maybe it's Morton somebody somebody did does attach the Morton Morton was on the mouth attached the more I realize that halfway through halfway..

They're not allowed to be sacrificed at this point. We're. Just think that it's like you gotta you gotTa then test all the players, all the people in the building. Yeah. "Jim Rotundi and Scott. Let's go. What's up everyone welcome to the Bronx Pinstripe show episode four hundred. Sixty nine. Normally in this Thursday morning time slot it's gotten I talking about Yankees Baseball it's one of our normal episodes but we're shaking things up this week and today's episode is going to be with Andy Martino I talked to him for about forty five minutes on Wednesday. About. The mets, but we also talked about. Him covering baseball during a pandemic because he is somebody that goes to the stadium somebody that is on the zoom meetings. I thought it was just really interesting to hear his take on how things have been different for for his job. For some of these other preview episodes, we've talked to other podcasters like Scott I so they're kind of in the same. Boat as we are Andy though covers the Yankee. Excuse me covers the mets and a little bit of the Yankees for S N Y for a living. So definitely stay tuned for his take on just everything that's going on in the world of baseball. It was really really fun episode I think one of the better guests that we've had on in the however. Many. Years we've been doing this show Scott and I will be doing normal episode. We're going to be recording it Thursday after the afternoon game against the raise right now as I'm sitting here, Garrett cold just worked his way out of the sixth inning. It's a pitcher's duel against glass. Now, the Yankees are losing though they natives can't beat the race hopefully when. I talk to you next time with Scott in a few hours episodes. GonNa come out Thursday sometime in the afternoon or at night hopefully, the Yankees have turn things around and were able to take two out of three from the from the raise for we get to the episode with.
