Scooter Braun reportedly sells Taylor Swift’s masters for over $300M, star responds

"And a half ago. It was a big brouhaha. And Scooter Bron. Became the enemy to 15 year old girls everywhere by buying up Taylor Swift's catalog. Well, he bought. Didn't he buy the record company and that those Masters stuff went with it right Big machine label group. It included Taylor Swift's first six albums, and he paid about $300 million total for it. So he just turned around and sold. Apparently just the Taylor Swift stuff, the six the rights to the first six records by themselves. He retains all the other stuff and continues to make money off this catalog that he just sold Um, in a deal worth over $300 million already. Like you got the other thing for free and wait a minute. So you're saying he sold her? Catalog but keeps a percentage of the profits. Yes, and he and keeps big machine label group, right. Wow. Yeah, Just those six albums. $300 million. She's bummed as you might imagine, Uh, she says she's been trying to buy back her Masters for the past year. But Bron made silly demands that she couldn't meet. The company that bought Taylor's music is called Shamrock Holdings, and they reached out to Taylor, hoping to work with her. Like, Hey, maybe we can work something out. But because of the terms of the sale, Scooter Braun still profits off those masters for several more years. So Taylor won't work a shamrock. Instead, she's continuing. She's actually I believe begun this process. Already. She's re recording all her first records, so I don't know if that includes some kind of reimagining or they'll be extra stuff on there. How that allow work. But she's re recording that and that then she'll own those masters and she can continue to make money off those. Um she says that in that way she could regain some kind of control over that. She says the process has been both exciting and creatively fulfilling. No, that's what she's up against. I know we work with record companies a lot, and I don't know. The extent of any of these deals, but it does seem wrong. That an artist somehow doesn't own their art. That seems wrong like that's there's a Clear problem in the contract writing deal there that somehow you don't own your own art. Well, then I guess it's I guess it's that you sold it for the support of the record company. I just don't know. I don't know them. Like at least seems like you should retain a piece of that, like a like a 51% of that or something. I mean, look, if banks he paints something and and sells it to someone else, they 100% own it like I don't know. Does he retain any rights to that? Can they reproduce it? Like what is the I don't know. I don't know what our deal was. And she was a kid. So who knows? How screwed over she got? I don't know.

LeBron James Has Another Block Party Against Rockets

"Breaking news, this morning scale, and it is good news especially if you're a Houston Rockets Fan. Robert Covington had that's scary fall last night where he was pushed by cow cruised into the hip of Anthony Davis. He was bleeding from his mouth. He was down on the court. The good news scall- is he he's not in the concussion protocol obviously I imagine he's a bit sore this morning, but it looks like he'll be ready to for game four tomorrow night. Yeah. I'm actually really looking forward to game four because Houston Rockets do some things well, Russell Westbrook finding his rhythm attacking the basket I. We said this on the mini pod. I think the. Houston Rockets should be a little optimistic about this. If we all understand that if Lebron's plays like this or even Bronco plays like this liquors are going to be tough to be s for anybody that's the that's including the clippers including Miami or Boston or Toronto whoever that is vintage Lebron. The question is, can he sustain that and it's his age that's going to be tough but the Houston Rockets they found some things they got to figure out their defense but offensively, I think they have a magic formula that could beat the Lakers if they make some shots and move the ball better. I think. So as well the Lakers won the game last night behind a classic Lebron James Performance Lebron had thirty six points, seven rebounds, five assists. He also had four blocks Gal and that's the amazing thing to me. It's not that he's big. He's strong. He's smart. We know that you know you WanNa iron people who just blow up Lebron for any little thing he does on what scale to me in your. Seventeen at thirty five years old with as many games as he's played the athleticism that he still has that lobby last night from Alex, Caruso with a one-handed dunks look to me like he was well above the square on that, and then the timing on the chase down walks that is certainly impressive and it's also certainly unique for a guy in his mid thirties who's played as many minutes as Lebron James says. Yeah, and typically. Data old you all the answers you've seen every defense you're not overwhelmed by anything. Your body is sort of started to give out I I'm not. He's not where he was when he was in Miami way back wind there's a lot of miles on that, but he his his ten percent drop off or whatever you WANNA call it fifteen percent drop off is. You you can't see it because the other stuff that he does he still has the great passing game is came lot easier to him now than it did before I think he could conserve his energy a whole lot better than he did back in the day. I, don't think he has to expend as much because he's a lot smarter on the floor and he. Relies on guys like Anthony Davis but I. I'm always impressed when the broncos into like old the Bron- mode. I just I. I kind of sometimes forget that he's able to do that and I know it always happens but I just use the seventeen years in your thirty five years old. You shouldn't be able to recover just one day in between and get out there and have that performance. So once again I think you know using father time as the thing that's most undefeated. Can he be great again in game four Kenny be great. Again in game five I don't know those answers, but whatever he's doing is absolutely working.

Zion Williamson Leaving NBA Bubble For Urgent Family Matter

"We begin today with news that Zion. Williamson has left the NBA bubble. Bubble in Orlando to attend an urgent family medical matter. The New Orleans Pelicans Zion intends to rejoin the team at an unspecified later date. We'll bond your thoughts on Zion leaving and what this could mean in the bigger picture, well Tony Me. The first thing is I hope this urgent family. Medical matter turns in becomes not urgent, and whoever this is, and whatever it is is improved better. So, that's the first thought and my second thought is. This is what people as they get older as they move from Zion's twenty today in their twenties, and thirties and forties is what we do it all the time. This is what deal with and players and coaches, and this is what your life becomes as you get older sadly, but necessarily the difference of course is this pandemic? The difference you you you normally you leave, and these guys have enough wherewithal to fry fly privately. If they want and most times they do and they they come back. Back and they juggle their tension between what is going on with their family member and ball, and they still have to do that, but now it's only you have protocol that you have to answer to, and you could be gone anywhere from say four days to fourteen days depending on things like if you're tested every day while you're gone, so we. We don't know and let's face it. There's twenty two teams in the bubble and not sixteen largely because Zion is one of those six extra teams in the NBA wanted to see him in the postseason. No question about that there's there's no reason on earth for the Washington. Wizards and the Sacramento Kings and whole bunch of these teams to be in this round, Robin and playoff to get into the playoffs in his created right because Zion, Williamson, second only in my opinion to Bron James as a television draw, and they WANNA. See Him in the playoffs. I Echo your statements that we hope that this isn't something traumatic for the family that should go without saying but testing the. The protocol by understanding correctly is you need to test on your own every day? In order that? When you come back, you can spend only four days out instead of fourteen. That's asking a lot of anyone when they've left the bubble to be able to do that to me. The larger question is, do you make exceptions know and to me for people like Zion and Lebron James who try to make an exception, but where where there is contagion, you can't do of course. By the Way Zion has team. Okay, and his team can help in that regard. They may have to send somebody WHO's in charge of testing. They want him air. No, there's no exception is the is the is the virus make an exception? Is the virus go? Lebron is gone, then look a little bit too big and strong for. Let me let me go over here. No, they're not doing that, so there's no exceptions, but you hope one that that this urgent matter becomes less urgent, and to that Zairean could get back quickly. Administer this I mean. The the Pelicans come on David. Griffin is not some dope going to do what they can as a franchise who support him and make sure he has what he needs to transition back to the bubble.

NBA championship odds: Lakers still lead pack despite quiet trade deadline; Clippers improve chances

"Did you make of the two teams? How do you feel about them currently? Wow Oh well I I I I stand by. I think the clippers have long time then the favorites. I think the way that the Lakers have played This season and how they've consistently consistently performed Dwight Howard has been a pleasant surprise. I think Kyle Kuzma with the injury to start off the season. He he hasn't really gun the things that they would like. These are very good contributor. But I think that the clippers with all the management and and Paul George Missing Time and some Injuries and you look at where they are there. Second Right now and for me. I think that the clippers are the best team right are they. Are the team that come at at the end of the day you're going to have to go through in order to try and win a championship. Even though the Lakers have the best record and it looks like the Lakers are GonNa have home court At at this point in time if it were to start today I still feel like you know the clippers. The team that you're GONNA have to be in order to win the whole thing Richard. How all surprising that? The rockets decided to go full monty. There Bison not only are we gonNA run small lineups. We won't even carry a gun on the roster who would allow us to run any sort of other type lineups. Well it's a at this point in time. If you look at Dantonio you look at Dell Maury winter. We've we've had they not gone all in on whatever they believe right. What do they have to lose? They've been criticized up and down and make pulled off some pretty impressive trade getting in Chris. Paul getting in Russell Westbrook. They've done some really really good things to pair With with James Harden James Harden continuingly improved his offense of game. But it's like I'm not surprised anymore. It's like they look at their team. And they're like the way we're structured right now. We're probably up for a first or second round loss What can we do to really shocked at? How can we try and change things up? And they made them moved. ooh They believed that adding Covington and giving up Cappella and they just WanNa go all small ball kind of like what you would see from the Golden State Warriors for for a time So I'm not surprised by it. I think that you know everyone out. There is fighting for their job. I think Daryl Morey I think I think You look at Dan Tony think these guys are low key fighting for their jobs so if they know that first or second round loss possibly could be the end to their tenure. So why not try and go all whatever you believe. Richard Jefferson hanging out with this year. Makes you check them out today. Five o'clock Indiana Toronto. ESPN mean is also in studio with us as well by the way. You're listening to Los Angeles. So Richard Let me ask you this about what Brian said yesterday specifically in regards to that game like he he kind of talked about their lack of focus on defense. Where do you think the Lakers can get better on defense? Can they do it. Internally you have again you have some talented players and I. I always proceed very cautiously when you have a game like that and everyone wants to run and talk about it and break it down like look Russell. Westbrook had a great great game. Houston shot the ball extremely well if you send shot the ball like that against anybody on any given night. They're going to win that game Even Dan Tony said in his interview. He's like hey I understand what we're doing is different It all has to do with whether or not these guys will buy in and tonight was a big step that they would have gone out and got him blasted in a D had forty five right an twenty six against them. Everybody in that Houston Rocket Locker. Room would be questioning. What's what's going on? They would be getting murdered by the media. It would be going crazy but they were fortunate to get that win in La which very hard place to play and now. Everyone's questioning the Lakers. Well look I believe this. I believe that the Lakers are great regular season team. I think that last night they should've stayed with the White Howard. You can't Anthony Davis if there's a difference between being like having your numbers be dominant and actually being dominant and physically dominant. Anthony Davis just. Wasn't that Anthony. Davis Davis is not an again. I hate to talk about. What player isn't because he is a million great in every anybody would want them on their team but he's not a guy that just going to low post blocks doc band you up and then go and shoot a five-foot Hook shot and don't because he worked position that's why he runs the floor so well so he can get that early early post up in a great position and it's harder to guard but in the postseason when it becomes half court basketball? That's what the Houston Rockets are depending on when it becomes a half half halfcourt basketball game and they can spread it out and just have Russell James go to work and kick it out to more shooters so everyone had their theory. It's just a matter of WHO's going to be able to impose their will Richard One of the things that That's happening for the Lakers. This year is that when Lebron plays the offense is is tremendous right there. They're one of the best offensive teams out there. But when he doesn't play when he's not on the floor I should say that offense becomes very anemic even when Anthony Davis was an. MVP candidate in his own right is on the floor. And it reminded me of the years in In Cleveland the three years that Love Irving and and Lebron were together. When Lebron didn't play that team wasn't just not a great team not wasn't just a below five hundred they were awful and given that you've been on the inside you've been on a Lebron James Team? Can you explain to me how that is. How talented players? Once you remove this one guy turned into a bad basketball team. I think it's it's style of play. It's continuity I think that's something that it's it's weird because Lebron James is always you typically been healthy. She's always played in seventy five or more games except for last year due to the groin injury. So it's like this is the guy that each up eighty ninety percent of like court time. So you're what what you're really referencing is like non-core time and even then comes the postseason. This is a man that's going to go from playing thirty seven minutes a night thirty eight. He's going to go up to like forty three forty four minutes a night. 'cause there's no bags and there's no practices for most of his energies just using games. So what you're really talking about is how do you play Good Basketball for eight to ten minutes in it for twelve minutes and that can be tough to find that continuity. It's tough because it's such a small sample size right and yes it's a small. It's a large sample size is when you look at how often it happens. But it's very very difficult for coaches to be like how we're GONNA play for this ten to twelve minutes when the broncos out of the game because when he's in the game everything's everything's perfect. Everything's runs great room and I think that's the challenge. The coaches have a lot of people are talking about Darren. Collison coming in and then interrogating him bats. That's the challenge and it's and it's been a long time. The bron James Challenge is how do we play that 'cause they had with Kyrie Kyrie is a great score but it's like when Bronco go out of the game game that was an opportunity for Kyrie to really explore and really play his game and get his rhythm will Kyrie's rhythm might not necessarily be the rhythm for the the other guys on the court and I thought knock on Kyrie. If just like broad had the ball handed Kyrie was basically a two guard. Then Kai Bronco Ga.. The game in Cairo would become the point guard. But this was an opportunity to get going scoring and maybe throw the ball into Kevin Love. which when you had the surrounding guys there wasn't an offense? There wasn't a continuity beauty for us to play through so there's good still Lebron and there's challenges to Lebron. I wouldn't even call that bad but I think this final stretch is going to be key but understand. He's going to play more minutes in the postseason. So you can't really say like hey we need to figure out what we're GONNA do when he's out of the game because that's just realistically he's going to be in the game Ormeau. Richard Jefferson with this year on the Sodano show on ESPN. This actually leads perfectly into my next question. This is good chemistry right here. These three guys. So Rondo they have Rondo. Problem is a net negative player. He's been that for seven seasons now but to a means point it falls off a cliff. He's usually usually the guy that has to lead that second unit. I don't think they can afford to play him anymore. To be honest with you what do you do if you do agree with me. What do you do with Ronda how do you how do you manage? Rondo at this point Well I I think there's there's two components there's an on the court and then there's a locker room right. There's a locker component and it's like a like say what you want about Rondo. He's a very dynamic guy on and off the court so you WanNa make sure that Rondo understands what your is your team goals are. I think Rondo is in a very different space. And he was years and years ago whether it was in Dallas when I played with them or leaving Boston I think Rondos one of those guys that in this moment right here they need to find. I I think that's Darren Collison being. It's so big the need to find one more guy that can compliment that second unit And so yes do but you gotta look at what can you do. He's a net negative guy adding Rondo very very rare. But no one really questions Kenney still play is he's still a contributor when you're just looking at the second unit and when I tell you that the six years prior that's one thing this year I I mentioned it early.

Can Taylor Swift change the music industry?

Can Taylor Swift change the music industry?

"Ever since recorded music came a big business artists have been getting screwed by their record. Labels this is is not a secret. Ask anyone who pays attention to the industry and they will give you plenty of examples outside the industry though. It's not usually public book unless it really interferes with an artist ability to make music and even that it's never this public lately. There's there's been a new shift that has affected me personally and that I feel is a potentially harmful force in our industry and as your resident loud person I feel the need to bring it up. And that is the unregulated world of private equity coming in and buying our music as if it is real estate this it just happened to me without my approval consultation or consent you might recognize that voice it is one of the richest voices in the world. So yes Taylor swift can afford to take a risk. She used her acceptance speech when she got the woman of the decade honor at the billboard awards to to address her very public feud with scooter. Braun who is the new owner of her former label big machine and along with that the owner of dozens of songs thanks swift recorded early in her career. So what happens now. Is this a new precedent for the music industry with artists. Speaking openly about who Owns the art that they create or is this Taylor swift doing it. Because she's Taylor and she can and how will her former label and scooter bron fight back. Jordan Heath Rawlings. This is the big story. Amanda Kingsland is the National Music Director for country music stations on Rogers radio across the country. She's been following Taylor swift since Taylor. Her came onto the scene. Hey Amanda Hey how are you. I'm doing really well. And why don't we start with. Do you remember when you heard Taylor Swift for the first time time and what you thought I do remember actually i. It was the first few months I started here at the radio station. We received We received her album. I'm in an envelope With a bit of a plan it kind of came with this rap sheet that Said who she was and what the plans were for her. You know this would've been maybe early. Two thousand six. So kinda pre people sending you an email with all the details so it came in a big envelope and I remember sitting down and listening to it and I re I. Yeah I remember some of the songs thinking this is a little kid and I remember some of them thinking. These are incredible lyrics. I remember immediately really falling in love with the Song Teardrop Guitar. I thought it was really really smart. How for single Tim McGraw resonated and how they were able to use that to really get a foot in the door and country music and I remember being here at the station when the phones blew up asking who that girl was or who what who sings that song that the toxic Tim McGraw your she resonated with people immediately? And you don't see that a lot with artists you see having to play them a time especially in a time where social social media wasn't where it is now there wasn't a big social campaign or digital campaign to put her in front of people. They did that organically and it caught on so quickly. Where where did she come from? And how did she come up in the countryside of the business. We'll Taylor grew up in Pennsylvania on a Christmas tree farm which I always think is such a cool fact and just very authentic in the country lifestyle. I think to grow up in In the woods or growing your own trees Turned to songwriting really early and You know obviously her. The parents were super supportive and realized that she had a gift because they brought her from Pennsylvania to Nashville In the early two thousands when she was about thirteen she got a publishing deal with Sony at fourteen years old and then signed a record deal with big machine records from there and and you know she spent time writing songs and then did what you often hear. People people do and went from label to label asking to play songs for people in asking for a record deal. So that's sort of how things got rolling you know. She went up and down music row pitching her songs as a fourteen year old was at guitar and got told no over and over and over. So yeah I think that that's a really that's a very you know picturesque story. You would hear about somebody going up and down music row in Nashville asking. You know knocking on doors and asking to play their songs right. It's like the the quintessential central origin story. But then she signed with big machine. And what happened when she was just getting started with them. That matters now like why we're talking about it today. Yeah yeah well. I think that how big machine started is kind of important to this too. Big Machine was not a record. Label Pre Taylor Swift Scupper shadow left. His current aren't label. who wasn't interested in signing fourteen year old writing her own music which was a caveat in how she wanted to do things and so he decided to start big machine? Gene records Not launched with Taylor Swift. And you know I've I've heard Scott sister actually worked for the record label for years with us on the Canadian side and she told me about them sitting on the floor of an office space he had rented and there was nothing in it yet and he called in some favors from some other people in the industry and they actually were pudding Taylor's albums in envelopes on the floor in this office space and mailing them to radio stations hoping for airplay and that sort of how big machine started was with booth with Taylor. Was it talked about in those early days. When she signed that record deal which was two thousand six? was you know that part of that deal. Was that the publishing rights to the songs things that she was singing were owned by week machine. Every person has a different deal an every person has different publishing houses or how they get songs and how those are broken broken down as far as royalties go. It's all different for everybody so I guess you know at that time. It didn't really matter and then fast forward a handful of years in a whole lot of success excess and You Know Scott selling the label. which involves Taylor's music and the rights to that music? So that's how we end up here today. Eight were hearing this buzz around Taylor not getting to perform her own songs or Taylor you know not owning that music that we all have come to love and why. She's where she is today Eh. Can you explain a little bit about how those rights work. Because I think some of us who listen to music take for granted that different people might own the actual rights to a song. But I haven't heard ever before really of somebody not being allowed to play their own music so just so you know we can clarify that. Rights eight means copyright. It means you know licensed music and that means that the publishing rights would earn you money when it streamed downloaded put on a CD performed live heard on a radio station used in a television. Show anytime you hear that song whether it be live or recorded somebody Is He's getting paid because it's been licensed so that's what we're talking about when we say you know not owning the rights are not having the rights now because of a breakdown of how those come together and again it's different for a a lot of people in how much percentage they get of each category by category. I mean there's a lyricist or a songwriter. There's a musician who pulls out altogether. And then it's published through a publishing company who copyrights it who gets a percentage so You know Taylor's case. She may be collecting royalties as a songwriter air. But she doesn't own the rights to those songs and doesn't get to control Unfortunately with those albums released with big machine she doesn't get to control when those songs are used because she's she doesn't have those rights right so they can sell them to a commercial and she can't do anything about that right now now as far as I understand if they were to do that she was still get a portion based on being the lyricist songwriter. But she doesn't get say on how it's used. So how did this escalate into the kind of public feud that we've been following for the back half of this year. Well in my opinion Taylor swift is an incredible incredible businessperson and she. She always has been even when she was on. Good terms with big machine and sitting in those boardrooms. She was very active in the decision. Making so I don't know that not having the rights to these. These songs became a problem until she wasn't in that boardroom anymore. But she's always been outstanding to her fans she's cultivated. This incredible following she gives gives so much to those people who then she can in turn ask things of as well and when this became a problem for her she was able to turn to her fans through her social platforms and let them know what was going on and request their support to get her to where she wanted to be. And you know as much as there's so many people have somebody opinions on this But quite frankly it's quite brilliant to who use this fan base that she has and that she's cultivated to get the results. She thinks that she deserves her. Needs to see and I think that's how we all ended up hearing about it. Is Taylor making us all aware And again that's one side of the story when Taylor comes out and makes aware of what's happening but it started with the company being sold or with majority sheriff of big machine being sold his scooter Braun And she was unhappy happy with that. And then she disclosed The publishing and how what the breakdown was and how. She doesn't have control over those songs. Everybody loves to hear her sing. So what is Taylor. Claiming she wants done like what does she say happened. and and how does she feel. She's been wronged. I've heard I've seen a lot of

Interviewing Kieran Culkin from the Show 'Succession'

"I'm thrilled to have Kieran Culkin right here in this chair this one yeah. You've got a couple of people from the show L. in this chair. Haven't you yeah Brian had Nick Brown Bron. I if I had my way I have. Everybody should just bring them all work their way the way where are you gonna go. Here's here's the one who had the Golden Globe nomination. That's true. Did you Robin Thicke. It faces yeah. They were all so mean. They helped me down and kick me in the each one. Just wondering how that happens when you're on a show and then somebody get singled out do they just not mention it or do they say congratulations. Oh they all say congratulations and then. I'm taking off the box like who hasn't said it yet at six. PM Kim Jeremy Strong whereas my congratulations but they could say it in a certain way because none of that none of that none of nobody. It's just good if things happen grace happy if there's like nominations that come in great if they don't great job great like yeah. I think everybody's having a really great time doing it and it's also the kind of show that just feels really collaborative feels like everybody's making this thing so when something like that that happens like the Golden Globe thing happened. It really didn't feel like it was a meeting. It felt like Oh cool. The show got thing and I think that's me trying to be like I didn't and get an emmy nomination but I kind of did because we all we all did. It's all there. You sounded like you had years of therapy when you said that it was just a look I'm still searching for therapists found yeah well. You are from one of the most functional families on television. This is definitely the Roy's or the Kokin okay there's no. I don't know you'd be the best judge who is worse. what's a functional family. They just haven't seen one yeah. I don't know they're all might have moments of functionality but we don't yes and I think with this show. It's a bit like they're not more or less kind of with all their power and money and all that stuff they're still just like like the rest of us equally is thank you can say any. I just wanted to say that you came in saying it sounds rhythmic and melodic coming from Your Lips. It's just incredible but I need the money in Jilin and to set this up because there are still some people that haven't seen succession what I don't talk to them saying they haven't seen it. They're behind behind on season one but now season two comes season one had gotten you know a lot of attention but now people are watching it more. It's got five five emmy nominations including best series so I'm sure your heads are even more huge and yeah you never before amazing racing with the biggest thing ever game of what people see you on the street. Do they recognize you now as Roman. Yeah I've gotten a few of those. and mostly people call me. That's actually happened a lot and it's not it's like I feel like they almost feel like you know Wallace Shawn Being People Oh yelling inconceivable at him when he walks on the street one thinks and they're like the first one to do that right like that. Show you're like. I know that's the show I mean. I realize I don't know but the the guy sure is high saw somebody mistake someone for you and rory said to his it could have been right yeah. I don't think so I would have known and they said there's no succession and I thought again. One of the great great compliment would be new. I haven't heard that one. I feel like they said no you the past when you were hailing a cab today. There's there's Mike that was great but his insults are just golden. They're just wonderful. When Roman says something to you. Yeah it's pretty great just no filter whatever comes comes to the brain and he handled the brother who is going through so many traumas and and is in Rehab and everything is happening and you know he's unshaved unshaved candle. He's looks like this do you help them to create these There's like okay so they write. It and it's pretty horrible. Some of the things things that Roman has to say and then some of the other writers they start throwing alternative lines out there and to my mind I think they would deny this but they get a little competitive with each other about like who can come up with the most horrible thing and then I want to play the game and I like throwing my horrible things that I can say from looking at what the guy dressed and stuff so sometimes. I don't like to let like if I'm insulting the actor. I don't like to let them know when it's mine and when it's there's sometimes if it's too insulting on Mike that wasn't me that we're not. GonNa use uh-huh well good goals. Try to make the extra go along because I have so many questions and I don't WanNa be too inside baseball just because the show's not what about me and it should be what I'm interested in yourself but yes it should but didn't allow but we should see a clip of you so so let's see here. He is Kieran Galkin in succession season two so you're not using. That's me that's me I recognize I yeah yeah look at that your idea to just sit on the yeah. I improvised that sitting up there. How cool probably with the glove in on the water just went right up. Stay saying that it's interesting because but those of you I haven't watched it yet the PEOP- The kids in this family this whatever it is it is an empire. I guess it is all want to take daddy's place place sure what's the case. You can make for Roman don't you. I think in a way he's sort of the most like his dad. which you know. I think that a lot of times makes really quick decisions and sort of just goes with gut sometimes and can be a real Pani. Ask kind of scary and I think Roman has that thing where sometimes if you know you get his attention. He's GonNa rip any. You and it can be a little scary so I don't know. I think there's a case for him. I thank you know he's done but he's smart. I think he knows how to basically a situation to his advantage and his advantages the companies then you know hearing you have this career. I mean everybody remembers you and your brother and home alone and we see that and that was just child actor stuff but I remember you most from Igby. It goes down and I saw that movie. I love the whole movie but what you didn't it was just amazing. Well thank you seemed to disappear yeah what what thousand to two thousand and two then where is he. What did you did dropped off the map kind of did like a bit of a freak out that movie came out when I was twenty and I kind of remember there were like some projects lighting up that I was suddenly being offered offered instead of auditioning for and that was a strange thing and I can't remember who but somebody used the word career and now I have a career. I found myself like twenty. I'm doing it for like fourteen years and never once made that decision for myself and I was like I don't. I never even questioned if this is something I want to do and I kinda just looked out and I think learned that a lot of people around that age kind of freak out about what they wanna do with their lives. I was just already kind of doing it but having having that same freak out at the same time but you're living it I mean because McCauley's started it in your family right. We actually started around the same thing yeah but his his success in home alone and I think the thing with that too is when I've always said that. If you get to witness or experience fame fame like that secondhand you would never pursue it. I don't think that's a nice thing like that's not exactly a nice thing that happened to him. At the age of not not in it wasn't nice for him to walk down the street and people like chase him and stuff. That wasn't that Nice so I'm if I'm sort of figuring this out now in real time. Maybe you're my founded charge anytime. You're great but it's that. I think if I started to find if I'm fit go back now and think about it when I was twenty. I started finding myself to be a little successful in things. We're coming probably had a bit of a panic. Let's roll this back when he tried to get some control over it because I've seen it. Get completely out of control with like a child what was happening in your family. You brought that up before who was saying to all of view you should act. You should be in this well. My father was an actor before I think he actually comes from a family of actors or performers of some kind of sort of like you know glass family type thing I think him and his three siblings all did some to some extent kids and then if I'm remembering correctly and sometimes times again information wrong like the are some neighbors ran over the stage managers of the theater nearby in the neighborhood so I think it got to a point was I was like. Oh we need a kid. I show my neighbor's got seven of them name of sex and age we got take here yeah and my father then kind of pushed that he like took headshots of us in like. I think it was like Rupert Park in New York and sent us on auditions and stuff and it actually kind of happened pretty quickly. You weren't born scarred by the family experience. No I just think it's like not a good relationship with dad no not with that but not not for that reason. He wasn't a good person overall but for that that kind of stuff. I think that was okay. I think at least my experience I actually can't really talk about what the siblings I think. It's funny is growing up at the family. You seven in all seven of us have living in the same place but having very different experiences

"Couple of weeks ago. I upset the l._b._a. Community the bron- apologised colleges community lebron james suffers from fame and social media diction the aftermath lebrons. Hey look at me antics at his son's a you game i said fame as an addiction more dangerous than cocaine nate burleson and other members of the community rushed to the internet to preach to the world lebron. That is a good daddy. They take care of his kids. Well at the risk of upsetting. I'm going to once again point out that the latest of the latest it is example of the negative side effects of lebron's addiction to fame the thirty four year old basketball star claims to have identified football's most unique challenge and further claims to have invented solution class helmets players being assigned a helmet and do not have no voice and no one knows who they are because of the helmet and no one ever truly know on that there's actually a person inside there and not taking that seriously they will be seen by uninterrupted did and this right here is the farce glass helmet and meaning behind it is all these great athletes athletes that play our wonderful sport football will be heard and we'll be saying because they are at the end of the day they are people as well. They take these helmets off and they are people when they have the helmets on as well so when i first saw this. I thought it was a comedy skit. Get thought lebron was having some fun and then i watched a four minute youtube video titled the glass helmet project tackling one of football's most unique challenges. Oh sweet jesus. I think the broader series the bronze side kick maverick carter some nondescript former n._f._l. Player andrew hawkins and an artist artist are pushing the notion that glass helmets or symbolic glass helmets would liberate and humanize oppressed n._f._l. Players i can walk down the street. Be the star football team and nobody knows who i am because people don't recognize you. Ah as players were kind of looked at as warriors or gladiators right and gladiators aren't people who you remember their name take a lot of people when it comes to football they cheer for the laundry in the sense that they refer their teams more than having a direct connection with the players hopefully one day we'll see glass is home is on the

"I think for the first time in fourteen years for him and now he's got anthony davis. I think he's got to win. This game doesn't have to win other games. I think this is the statement game for the bron. James and i will be surprised if he does not winning for the los angeles lakers lebron james high up in the a playoff beat via top four seed in the western conference after april fifteen. That's not some game in this game is big for him. What do you make lake of simone. Biles pulling off two moves that no one else has even tried in competition all right tony. We go over these moves because they've never been done <unk>. I'm you're never been tried. The first one is a triple double where she performs executes three twists and to flips. I mean let's see russel westbrook. Do that triple double okay because again. No one's ever done this and then tony. We're gonna go to balance beam. Where she does is a double double dismount right double double from the beam again never been done. Let's see dwight howard. <hes> the king of the double double doubles at one point do

Building the Ideal Lakers Starting 5 with LeBron James at Point Guard

"A micro dose in las vegas covering the lakers 'em what's the reaction to the news yesterday the chris haines a reported that lebron's gonna play point guard lebron normally only has the ball in his hands so to me it wasn't that big of a deal but it seemed guinea huge reaction on you know on social media and on sports website what from where you're sitting what's the reaction been like in vegas i sympathize with you john the because if you watch the brian james playing his whole career he's almost always play point guard in the half court offensively right they since literally since he was a rookie that they've had guards around him at various points like a more of just the shooter but didn't have the ball the whole game talked about a mario chalmers even kyrie's who's really more of a shooting guard than a point guard and you know last year with the lakers lonzo is different in some senses but lonzo wasn't really operating in the half court with the basketball ball so to me that's really nothing different about that we've seen throughout his career and i get the way the report restructured you know did make it seem like that i guess it all depends on what you're gonna do what you're starting lineup but you could still have the bron play quote unquote point guard announcing in have another guard start the game whether that hey i mean the lakers have a lot of options not right is it is it alex caruso is it every proudly is it rondo is it even even casey p if you wanna go big in and let somebody else bring the ball up for i don't know that's what frank vogel gonna spend the summer answer any can figure out but i'm i'm with you ireland i i didn't really think that was much different from what we've seen throughout the bronx career all right so they announce halfway through the same demarcus cousins is joining the lakers a dead already prior to that signed jim vail mcgee an in mike you and i both know the teams now tend to go small and sometimes interim any center on the floor but who do you see do you see those guys this kind of eight option they option b senator you see one of them in trenches of the starter is it yet to be determined what who would you how do you think those minutes breakdown between mcgee and cousins i do do see it as a split and not only that i think that a lot of times the best line up through the lakers will be at anthony davis playing at the five in going small small is you could be with a six eleven shot blocking a young guy like davis at center and then the bron for maybe cruising with the three and if you wanna you wanna stay big there you go danny green in casey p or or caruso so that that to me is what will end up happening in crunch time more often but i do love especially for what they got him that i like be upside with

"Free agent just next month, Puma. Now new balance re entering the market. What do you think about on this one as well as they brought that Kevin? Donatus craves director. So it's an exciting time. A lot of brands are getting back into the mix. You know, his deals not expiring talks over. I after all this, I start talking to brands, but they a couple of weeks ago announced that they're the head sponsor for the hour back centre. And and the Celtics facility is it's across the street on the headquarters of the new balance headquarters, which is the first time that a team has done that is so new balances looking at Boston as a priority market. Gordon Hayward is looked at by a lot of brands as the all star level guy that's going to have potential to be in the finals here. So there's brands like onto that are interested and a lot of people for by the way I shipping, but Matt Bonner the last NBA athlete to w-. New balances. So I don't know where you feel like Matt Bonner, Gordon Hayward, sit in there. Look at that. See, we just wanted to get the map. And Math Made. I think he played without a shoe deal the last three years and just really liked the shoes. So it was. It was one of those things where he's from that region, but they've they've been out of the game for a little bit and they're going to revamp. And I assume do some much more exciting stuff than probably wouldn't. That was the majority of what they've done is running shoes. Yeah, that's, you know, that's that's the signature Puma, adding Celtics guard Terry Rozier to its roster. The brand relaunched his basketball category by sending de'andre Eytan, Marvin Bagley. Rosiere told her report quote, I feel like I'm very marketable, I feel I'm the guy they needed to sign a Nick. What's the cleaned up version of what Puma posted on Instagram today. I'm only messing with Puma is the finessed way of how he how he phrased that, which which I think what we've seen a Puma that's been exciting is they're trying to be the most transparent honest and kind of refreshing brand out there. It was the more colorful press release, a quote I've ever seen from a player that's not how that goes. Usually they are excited to join global company and it's very bland. But, but you know, we've seen in some of the stuff. They'll look it up on is e go ahead. No, they're they're Puma account after my story about and Jordan brand splitting. They reposted a random mean that was like Jim from the office with Jay z. looking over his shoulder outside of a window. Like I think they're going to be poking fun at stuff. They're looking for visibility here and I love the signing actually because you know, at the draft, they did get a lot of big guys. This gives them a lot of balance. It's kind of a Reggie Jackson situation potentially. Maybe Terry is not on the Celtics next year and we'll in that remains to be seen, but it seems like an interesting strategy. They're almost buying low cost stocks that have high growth potential potentially. But there I mean the draft guys, they sign they were making great offers. So the financial package is definitely there. And I think for a lot of the players, it's totally open ended. In terms of every guy there signing feels like I can be the face, and so it's driving on this. I mean, all these companies right now is it the ascendance of the league internationally as China? Like why? Now, it's a great question. So basketball out of all the major sports, it's the one sport where a kid can by the shoe that's actually warn. You can't buy and. Where it around and then basketball athletes. As we've seen like the way they're active on social media, the way they're globally relevant, China, there's so many touch points of music and culture like it's the perfect storm for all these things that if you're a brand, make it really, really compelling to get stories out there..

"They gotta figure out what everything that they play for ineffective they apparently hit their struggled holding it together last year and you think the demarcus cousins it's just like oh my god this is unfair we have no idea how this is going to work we have no idea if this is going to work and we really don't have any idea how good a player demarcus cousins is going to be so like to me it is preposterous way to people flipped out about this flipped out of biden and then went to a point where they are talking about now another guy in the way another guy went to a good team in the west so we need to change the playoffs eaton's because the west is so much better than the east i don't buy it i do not buy there was absolutely a time where i would have bought your argument about how much better the west is then the east in the nba and i would say the west is probably better than the east but guys do you know who the number three seed last year in the west was portland portland was number three seed in the west last year and they went out there and they got swept by the pelicans without boogie cousins though those are great teams like us idea that if you had like you could just take the pelicans and drop them off in the east and they would win the where would they be in the east i don't know maybe around where they are right now the east had four teams that won fifty games the west head to the west is crazy crazy crazy topheavy last year the utah jazz who lost gordon hayward in didn't really replace him with anybody won forty eight games playing in the west last year it was not this overwhelming juggernaut of a conference what they do have though obviously the warriors the warriors are at the top of the west in there that top of the league is with the idea the added somebody else spooks people okay i get that but i'm not saying why changing this playoff seeding thing is going to do anything that really makes the league that much different i don't i don't see it i also think that people don't think deeply enough about it if you are going to make such a change the change the way the nba season is played yet jay the ways scheduled so i think there's a value in having conferences where you play some teams three or four times a year neil into place teams two times a year i like the idea of having nba finals where you got teams that you really haven't seen play against each other that much i'm with that i liked the idea of having playoff rivalries where you set this up where you're in situations where guys can play other over and over again and had this to three year run so like the sixers and the celtics for example there's a good chance those teams going to be facing off against each other year after year after year in the playoffs i love that like i think those things are good and i think that when you will lose those things you would miss them after a certain point i also don't think that you wanna postseason with all the travel that's going to be required if you ditched this is the first time you get you a portland miami first round series you realize okay maybe may maybe does ain't the greatest thing in the world to do it i imagine for the players the idea of doing a series where you go in between time zones if you don't have to do that they'll do that nba finals where you go from like atlantic pacific madison monster on your body like all of that like i just think it's an easy overreaction to talk about how dominant the west is but i don't think the actual evidence decks up today and boogie cousins was thing that drove you over the line on that and yet now you you look at the world a whole lot differently than i do but here's the thing if you get past war he's not at the rockets seem to be a little bit decimated at you get past the warriors what about the top of the west is that much better than the top of the east at the top of the east is going to be a presume mm ably improved boston a presumably improve philadelphia and he's still pretty good toronto.

"Out well abroad cutback he would have got his trade wish a lot sooner and by a lot sooner i mean like twenty fourteen hey guys did you ever imagine that in the season of free agency that the single most controversial signing would be one for a guy who got paid all of five point three million dollars to play and who is coming off into a chair but that is what happened when demarcus cousins signed to play with the golden say wars somehow some way this was the signing that made everybody say that the world was unfair now the argument i guess behind this is basically just the idea that demarcus cousins is an all star team ardy has four all stars now they're going to have five all stars the average guy they added a guy whoever's other light twenty seven points and ten rebounds a game and he is an incredibly skilled player he really really is but dude he's coming off and a killys chair that is the single most debilitating injury a basketball player can suffer the list of guys who've come back like looking like they're former selves after an achilles injury is short dominique wilkins is at the top of that list after you get past domininique you're talking about what like rudy gay last year and rudy gay average the same points per minute last year as he had the season before the problem was though he played a much smaller workload like fewer fewer minutes wesley matthews is a guy that people try to point to do as bay but wes matthews that his best ever sixteen and a half points game arab is twelve point seven points game last year and his shooting percentage as plummeted since he had that achilles injury like it's bad news we're talking about a two hundred seventy two hundred eighty pound dude and you want him to play for the warriors going up and down the floor playing in a style there really isn't necessarily that conducive to his game and you'd think that this is the one that's going to break up the yo correct me if i'm wrong we can't even look at him to be ready to play until february right sounds garrett i was shut after i came back on the grid to see the way that people were responding to this deal in y business the one that really through they just just made everybody so mad number one the warriors aren't going to be able to keep them for long effect the warriors are only going to be able to have them next season because they don't have his bird rights if they don't have bird rights that means is there over the cap the only the bacon only pay him one hundred twenty percent of his twenty eighteen twenty nineteen salary in order to keep that means that they would really only able to pay him about six and a half million dollars the next year and demarcus cousins ain't doing that again right if he plays well enough he's going to have somebody that's willing to take them all number two guys okay you know i tend to stick ofa players and stuff because i mean i think by laws get bad raffin people my business and everything else and i get really apprehensive when people start like saying things about guys but not really giving very particular examples of what they're talking about anytime i told somebody about demarcus cousins and i was a bit of a defender of demarcus cousins on a lot of things at ask you know we'll is it as bad as people say and the reaction that i got pretty much universally was it's worse like he's not an easy dude to deal with a lot of what happened in sacramento was not his fault but he's not the easiest dude in the world to deal with can you imagine trying to deal with the markets cousins under the pressure that he's going to be under next year to try to get back any money that he might have passed up he's saying that he didn't have any offers people saying that there were offers that were there may have been available and maybe weren't like up to the level that he wanted or whatever it is but i mean the stakes are high for him at this point financially so you wanna put him on that team with everything that.

"The they can't do what they did with all that isolation we saw how that ward their players now they can't do that and losing a reza and losing bob muti those things matter like those things at the fringes with the kind of team they put together those things are going to matter and now they are slipping in the west de'andre jordan went to the mavs that was weird gate us what i got that was weird there's nothing really to add their the the maps disarray relevant yeah like that's but the fact that he showed like after what happened the last time and considering the agent that was behind all of that at the time you know he's no longer with us because there's a lot of question at the time that his agent head work worked deal out for him to go indiana was kind of a passenger on this but the agent isn't here to do anything with like it's not even just now tom was for the clippers and mark cuban after audits maggie talk was willing to let it ride and now he's there oh by the way jail to parsons dude that was so mad at the dre jordan for not being there not only does not play air he's in memphis stealing money from people like mark cuban after all send wish he hadn't signed channel pauses in the first place it has by the way gave you would think the by now we'd be done talking about kyrie abroad right you'd think that'd be over all right guys this is great i found out about this after i got to play from portugal found out that there was a cavs be writers did a david minimum joe vardon jason lord of the law here we go who they did a fascinating discussion about the lebron kyri situation and it's like where to begin the first place to begin and there's a reason why i bring this up because i think this ties into the thing with the lakers lebron whatever's going to ultimately happened right there what we learn about kyri in his decision to leave the cavs in the way that things went not just the end of the time in cleveland with lebron but those three years into tallahassee some guys really just want to be the best player on the team like there's a certain joy in fun i imagine that comes from being the best player on the team you just want to be the star on the team and so with the cavs we kyri when kyri sign that extension to play for the cat look man the cavs are awful when he signed that extend the first extension they were awful awful in everybody looked to be miserable gave remember that was the year that they had to room or the waiters gone upside curry's head you remember that one of many dion waiters rumors yes but they it was a miserable time to be there but carry sign that extension happily you know why car was about to be the star of the team they go pay me like on the star of the team i want to be the franchise player on the team and then they went and got lebron and everybody else's like yo we bout to win and kyrie's like we might win but i won't he wanted to be the best player on the team now never mind the fact i feel pretty confident saying that there's been no loss for carvey whatsoever the time that he's been playing for the play with a abroad jane he is more famous because of the time that he spent playing with lebron james a product out more money in his pocket from being more visible and for being more famous he is now accomplished in a way.

"Makes shooters even more of a priority because lebron's going to be a division to take as many three point shots and he's become a good shooter guy i don't i don't know what their ultimate plan is going to be to put together basketball team and that to whereas it was where i think magic johnson is going to be tested because look these old school eighties when it's time to put together teams you always wonder if they're doing it according to the current paradigm of basketball it doesn't look like magic try to do a right now according to the current pair dhamma basketball but maybe maybe this is like this is one we go see like magic did the big thing that he was there to do which is lebron james now he pelinka got to put together a basketball team it looked lincoln aging so i believe the is going to be able to do boss work onto cap and stuff like that but the building of the basketball team that's gotta be magic and now we don't see we also had other free agents gave paul george did the lakers tell him to stay oklahoma city did he say he was standing oklahoma city imagine you like his fans tell you sales that he said he wants to oklahoma city it's a him thing on this thing yoga shout out to stay up presi i don't think we remember we talked about this last time but they made the effort right they went and did the thing that most people don't do they made a trade for dude with one year left on his contract and they said we are going to win him over and we are going to make this happen and they did they absolutely did brussel had to party at the house easy to have five hundred people at a party game it was like five hundred people for private party russell westbrook house in oklahoma city and look i don't you know typically encourage this kind of talk and i think you need to be careful when you ask these sorts of questions but a gave is fair for me to ask how many of those people at that party were which called crisis actors boy did just did you survey the scene of what the backyard looked like i did see that it looked like a sixteen year old's birthday party with like a bunch of inflatable stuff and where you know you've got some wooding band up there have been but it was not right i just gave figure out how you got five hundred people like i look i got family from oklahoma city i feel it should invited me to at party because i lease could've brought light three full locals we would have stopped by a.

"To be loaded right but they went and got last evenson negga javale mcgee they got rondo gave that i miss anybody else while i was gone did they went and got and we can't understand why the hell anybody would do that that's my general feeling on the swaggie piece still under contract with the wizards it is actually very interesting the lakers seem to be putting together one of these weirdo teams full of space cadets while have you noticed that the wizards are reassembling a team for the space cadets keeping him on the wizards head one of the legendary groups space cadets right what gilbert arenas nick young andrei blatch vail mcgee shawn stevenson stevenson far's crittenden your member him yeah remember remember that yeah there's there was that guy y'all what do they do dwight howard in word on the street they go try to get white howard they got to it howard okay what are they doing what is your played with all those guys who is gonna be john wall and bradley beal always had their own issues they just got austin rivers right and i don't think austin is a space cadet as much as people just don't like him kelly oubre he played for them don't they have a morris brother they still have morris brother right markeith moore's yes all right look you say maybe not even be better than i do but you give me the individual name of moore's brother they the same to me i've been trying for at least ten years to try to tell them apart you'd be like no no no no that one's marquee okay like the difference between markets marquee to me is the difference between country and western i don't really know where the division is i don't know i don't know where to split is but that's the lakers to have going there and they got their young players now game you are leg van and we talked about this to get hawaii that you were kind of like me where you gotta you gotta you gotta give something up whether you want to a notch you gotta give something up i think we all agree that you don't wanna give all of those guys up but would you think about lonzo putting out there that he had a knee surgery would seem to be an attempt to make sure he was out of those packages i thought that was slick man real slick get that info out there before the lakers won it make you less attractive of trade package although to be fair did the lakers played did not tell anybody about this if they were going to.

"To the lakers we've all been hearing that lebron my go the lakers for two years we've only been here this this was not a shock it's interesting also though chronologically just to go and look at the different ways that lebron is handled free agency it's been lower and lower key every time we went from the decision to the whole sports illustrated thing we lee jenkins and now this time just kind of statement that comes out from his agent for aid is he started magic johnson came over to the crib and basically that was that they apparently they sat down for three hours and then they talked and it was lebron tall to magic it was like okay cool i'm gonna go ahead and go here there's a report that come out today about the sixers and the sixes said that lebron was strongly considering them why do you think lebron was strongly considering them because he told him that things like the only way that they would know that how do they have spies in the bronze crib antibody like seriously consider going to play yada i think he felt like it was probably a good idea to hear you out because your dad come home any serious consideration he made the call that he was going to go to los angeles now the mood of the lakers think was interesting for a couple of reasons one the broad signed a four year contract why because he respects magic johnson more than he respects dan gilbert that's why dan gilbert he learned his less you gotta keep the fire dan gilbert at all times and make sure he acts right magic you looking at magic like not a worry about a baby i'm gonna be here for a while you can make plans around the idea that i'm going to be here for a while the bras looking at dan gilbert lake i mean i'm here now you know like we good i'm posted i don't really you know i don't know why you need to hear no more for me so you know that's debt is what that had to be under that circumstance and this is the first time in a long time then lebron is making the long play which is almost counterintuitive because he made a quick play when he was twenty five going to get it together weight and bush now i mit if there's ever been anything that i think that i was right about in other people weren't at the time that happened it was my belief that going to play the weight and bosch was more of a long play than you know then people did like that i was good but it was really not a championship level of good they lost because they just weren't good enough the next years the next to me wanted to win the championship i knew what was going to take a year in order to build that he remembered that first team they acquire my baby to play point guard keeping in mind and carlos arroyo started the season at point golf team my baby got a standing ovation because they were so bad at point guard at that point like i knew that that was going to be a longer play lebron saw it as a quick play he made two quick play with miami he went to cleveland and no matter what he said in the letter that was a quick play on a young players they head didn't they painted a bunch of 'em got him out of there to get kevin love and boom they made the quick play this isn't a quick point with the lakers like none of us think that this lakers team is one that can win a championship as it is presently constructed none of us do i mean we'll see if maybe they get kuwa leonard koala leonard is a maybe he's absolutely maybe at this point so maybe they get em in that changes things they didn't get paul george it sounds like lebron had some idea that they were not going to get paul george maybe wasn't that excited about the idea of getting to do doesn't make shots at the games who knows right like maybe that's what it was i don't know but now he's there and they got this bizarre teamed imagine putting together because they load another team will one year contracts that they can go back to the well next year free agency when they expect to class.

"To one it's the same way that right now for instance we have the lakers to win the championship for next season at five to one i think the real price is more like twenty two one it's art efficient pricing when you know the money is going to come in any way i think we will write some tickets on the two one and maybe when it does go lower the people will continue to bet the anyway i don't think we're gonna see too many bets on the no i would agree with that i agree with doug as well i think he know the real price would be would be a little higher like minus three hundred minus four hundred i i do think durant is a wild card from everything it sounded like this summer the warriors did not want lebron joining that team i think it's also interesting to see where free agents will want to go i e you have a very strong celtics team why wouldn't i want to join again the contracts may not work why wouldn't i want to join a really strong team in the east that has competition of basically the seventy sixers and maybe the raptors to get to the finals as opposed to go to the west to play with again as we said lebron has to age at some point i know i always a free but it's gotta happen at some point and a very stacked western conference it you know i i guess i'd put this out there are the lakers definitely a playoff team in the west there are definitely a playoff team we've talked about it a little bit we're thinking they the playoff yes price on the lakers would be somewhere in the neighborhood of minus four hundred maybe a little bit higher than that certainly no guarantee that this is a team that didn't even come close to the playoffs last year lebron's going to be thirty four years old in december you can't expect them to play eighty two games like he did last season be a lot lot harder road tests in the western conference than he had in eastern conference i think they'll find a way to sneak into the playoffs ben but it's not like it's a guarantee yeah i think the biggest issue with that team is more like chemistry i think you have a lot of characters with land stevenson and rajon rondo i mean let's not forget rondo at kicked off some dallas maverick's a couple of years ago because he couldn't figure stuff out and rick carlisle link lincoln out here i mean look lebron is the solution to a lot of chemistry issues he took jr smith under his wing so to speak and i know we know what happened in game one but for the most part jr behaved all things considered and other sort of projects and i just don't see all these guys getting together with a coach that lebron's a couple years older than lebron i i just think the potential of like the hollywood nonsense i mean look what happened with the ngelo russell and swaggie in hollywood and then you have the car dash lurking i it's just it could be a disaster of a locker room of to a team in a roster you're right that do not sniff the playoffs slasher now they played better in the second half and i think we'll make the play playoff this year but this this is not the cavs in the east with lebron do you factor the kardashian family in it all to that four year price doug i mean the the car dashing berle's or they all going to be part of your formula there that's a great i just imagined that's why the phone call was so contentious you want me to call now it's out of state he's at the compound i can give them a call it'd be like do you want to reevaluate this thing a little bit there are five kardashian girls lurking in the southern california area there one of one of them get their claws into our ads on a floaty you know he's got the phone there we don't we don't want to disturb him on the same compound is in nevada who would we talk which which of the compounds were referring to the one is that now yeah he's got the one he's now he's in the utah version but you know he he get a you get like a red phone like batman or how does it work i think it's like tape to his leg and you know he gets a call about something important like.

"Yes no one's gonna come in here and lay minus two fifty on something that they can't cash until two thousand twenty two it's going to be a one way number on the yes and that's why i was an advocate for a lower price after a lot of screaming and childish name calling we came to an agreement and that's the price we're going to hang up today other thoughts on that doug so it's a very interesting i'm rob no it's great and i've always wanted to do things beyond the season i love how you guys did the golden knights proper year and a half with the super bowl the patriots falcons i think that stuff gets created i guess i'm trying to think of it so look i've tried to go against eddin lost that advanced line of the iron bowl so i'm trying to think about where he's coming from and why he would do something i think in anything you want to look at the y and i'm guessing he wants to be aggressive with the line because he's not it's not like he doesn't think he'll get any action to pick them he just wants more so he's he's inviting more evening aggressive because if it's gonna be x sort of bets coming in at minus one ten it's gonna be like two or three x at plus two hundred right so that's what thinking is his is his motivation so taking hurry educated guest that is you're you're one hundred percent correct about that right it's only doesn't think there's any money coming in pick them he just wants more serving me two or three exit plus two hundred so the question is would i rather take three x plus two hundred or or one x at pick them and if it's three x at plus two hundred he must think the real line that's minus four hundred 'cause if you look at the expected value that formula or something like that that's what that's the make sense to him so he must think it's minus four hundred and i don't agree with that i think there's a there's the unknown with durant i think look what did david west say about the golden state warriors this your hey man when it comes out what went down and walk them you guys it'll be made like it's the disease of more that riley talked about in the eighties they have a great culture probably better than anything i've ever seen in team sports and you know i'm sure i'm forgetting some people but it that good with the warriors now with that being said you just mentioned klay thompson to free agent next summer who knows these guys get married get things change and with the quiet leonard variable the la factor magic i don't think the lakers land lebron james without magic or rather with jim bus i don't think that happen so i think the unknown i would play it safe if i'm the west gate at at minus one ten or of course there's always the other variable guys at is planning to leave and trying to sabotage the west gate in four years you know he didn't mention that on the phone call the the the sabotage maneuver but i think i mean everything you said is exactly right i mean ed does think the real price is higher but at the same time you don't need to give people three to one they're gonna take two.

"Fact he is also a clutch sports client is probably untouchable so maybe ingram instead of coups mo or all but i think coups probably will be there i would would san antonio really wanna take on lonzo ball is i don't i just the lakers to me are much better off having these young guys play a season with lebron learn the game from the blonde lebron learn how to be a professional from lebron get a little bit of playoff experience under their belt next spring and then look to make a move in free agency next summer maybe i leonard i think klay thompson is a free agent i mean it's all speculation of course but i don't think that trading all these assets they spent years tanking to get for one player is going to put them on the level with with golden state and so just to go back you would have you would have warriors rockets celtics lakers as your power right now i can tell you right now it's golden state houston boston and then lakers seventy sixers or right there for fourth but it's a very clear top three and the lakers are not in it and i mean look there's there's discussion whether leaguers do need betrayed for qui because they thought they were not going to have to trade for paul george they gamble the not give up assets but then paul george was able to be rude bye okay see we'll see what happens with kawhi leonard that's but that doesn't that doesn't seem necessary imminent question is and it's talking for that piece you know nick bogdanovich said that they might put up a season prop for scoring average for lebron just figuring out ways to generate handle on props obviously there's going to be a yes no for the playoffs so you guys do maybe even the division things either for the golden knights visitors increased interest where they quote unquote local team with the lakers what are what other conversations are having the lakers are the local team we both know that and they're they're going to be big business all year we've already talked about the yes no playoff price we've already talked about the wind total we haven't gotten into player props for the season we haven't gotten into home wins over under we could certainly have those conversations down the line i think those are all good ideas because there's going to be so much interest in this team that we would write money in pools like that but we're definitely going to have up their playoff yes no and the division and the wind total sometime in august i was surprised to murray that nick had said that the lakers would be the most bet team even past even more than golden state agreed with that aren't they will for sure i know that when i first got into this business lakers were one of the best teams in the league team of doug referenced and every night when the lakers were playing the book was just completely packed and we had a we had to keep guys overtime if the lakers covered the second half line because everybody in here was betting on the lakers betting on the lakers second half i mean they were the only game in town at that time and they have lebron james i think they're going to reach something close to that level of popularity again i they're not going to be as good they're not i i really don't think they can contend for a championship as they're constructed but they're going to be the most bet on team for sure in this leak into that point and this is a quote i did not include the article that was thinking about it and we go at it is at salmon's explain to me so why the warriors are no longer going to be like the lakers because basically when the warriors added kevin durant so for the past two seasons a lot of their home point spreads have been between like twelve and eighteen yeah so that is not as enticing for people to that when you have these double digit lines and it's just not as stimulating i guess 'cause it's garbage time is included whereas the lakers are going to have more moral point spreads than that strike zone of three to seven so that's gonna do some more accident so that's another reason that the lakers drew heavily bet than the warriors that's something i didn't think about that i thought was great point they're going to be under dog money lines.

"Ceiling on what a player can make then their smart if i'm kevin durant and steph curry why would i make thirty million playing alongside like mike conley when i can make thirty million played against another superstar like durant so if you put a ceiling on what guys can make the upper upper echelon of guy should play together 'cause there's this that's smart but if you remove that and have a true free market than durant not gonna make twenty five or thirty million to play with curry when he can go make sixty another team so if you remove the max player deal then you have all the best players making as much money as they can and for different teams that's what the nfl has like let's say quarterbacks have these high let's say they can only make seventeen million let's say every nfl player max player it was gonna make seventy million well the best diene pass rusher and the best running back best receiver and best quarterback are all going to team up with one another but you but right now the nba has thirty or so max player deals but they're not all thirty superstars there needs to be correlation between what what a guy makes and what a guy talent level so that's the problem with all that being said it is what it is that has to be discussing the collective bargaining agreement so with the current form i mean what what can you do you have guys like boogie cousins taking five point three million calling the warriors and asking lemme come play for you david west volunteer to take less money andrea della taking less money because they wanna win a ring don't we want these athletes to care about winning we'll they're clearly carrying about winning with their salaries and look i think it was explained last night as well from marc spears the undefeated marcus cousins had zero other offers so the nba should be mad at self or your own team's general manager and obviously he's coming off the killys injury but it wasn't like he had twelve offers and decided hey i'm going to go run with the warriors it sounded like nobody contacted him he woke up early one night and called his agent and said hey see what you can get done with warriors and they went from there speaking of best players the world cup has been fantastic i've been watching every game belgium down to nothing to japan came back wins three two two i believe they were sixteen to one at william hill to come back and win and regulation been a lot of great games have you been watching i've been watching a lot it's really awesome to have some action in the middle of the week and being able to fire on games it's just it's just perfect i mean yeah baseball world cups even earlier in the day so it's been enjoyable i i know soccer has naysayers if you will based on just you know the lack of stimulation at time of goals scored but it's been so awesome i i watch a lot of the world cup every four years and i've enjoyed it definitely and you know we've seen some upsets which is always enjoyable speaking of upsets i'm going out to vegas this weekend you are going on vacation perhaps the greatest upset of all that we've had on this podcast fill the listeners in a little bit on where where we're going you know you don't have to disclose how long etc but i am very excited yeah i know it's not because you're taking a vacation you know so that you get some time off let's just clarify that yeah no it's it's longtime coming up in a while since i've taken any vacation but this is the best time of year to do it for us sort of that downtime and major league baseball all star break so i'll be sneaking i mean and also the boss like you've done a calm down you have to take it so sneaking away to italy for a little bit florence tuscany so i'll be gone about a week and change and excited for that but i maybe sneaking away to vegas in august which is where you're going this weekend yes well i decided i you know i can't be there just once a year as you know you have to you.

"At the eastern conference right now jeff we get to cairo ring and we look at at bron james at the very top with the cavaliers if you consider is there thomas a star that he's in that in that conversation we could look at lowrey and rosen what toronto but you go to wall and beal john wall right now is one of the top five faces of the eastern conference now to paul george will be traded in going someplace else maybe in the west the i'm looking at john wall's were a top five player in the east as everyone tries to get to the get get to the west i now jarwal sees himself as a top player so he's gonna be put gained pay top money for sure for being one of the top faces in the league i i don't know john wall will ever lead washington to the promised land i not that's ever going to happen but if you're washington you you can't let him go oh twenty six years old and he's entering the prime of his career's he's been he if he it seems like he's older because he entered the league twenty so he's played quite a few seasons but there's a lot left for john wally averaged a careerhigh 23 points this past year so if i'm washing and i'm like i hope you consider my fouryear one hundred sixty eight million our contract extension but we'll see what happens yet they're trying to larkham in now because he's a ufa an unrestricted free agent in nineteen twenty odd bradley beal as a ufa and twenty one twenty two so you wanna be able to give wall is as much when he was possible because at eight twenty six if if you don't believe he's the man that at least he's a strong piece that you could build around and there's nothing wrong with that i'm a i'm a john wall fan i i would agree with you that i don't know if washington is going to be a um an nba champion or win the east because you need a lot more than just wall and beal lynn mahim ian gortari to get that done washington needs to be a player here we get.
