"2000 feet higher elevation than mile high. Yep. So it's even worse than the Broncos game and you're getting no rest before that. Or no rest after that. I think that's tough. I think that's tough schedule. And then you just finish with in cliff Kingsbury is kind of a notoriously, you know, not a great finisher to the season, but after that after that game in Mexico, you have a 6 game rest turnaround, then it's patriots Broncos, Buccaneers. Right after that. So your Mexico City game against the forty-niners, 6 day rest, chargers at home, patriots Broncos Buccaneers. You could easily lose all those games. Easily. Yeah, they lose a home game in Mexico City. And by the way, that'll be the first Mexico City game since 2019. When the laser pointer game, was that the laser pointed, that was chiefs chargers. I can't remember no, Texans raiders was the laser corner game, right? With bra toss Tyler. Oh yeah, God, that was such a good game. And then there was a that was like a Monday night game, right? Yeah, I was thinking about that recently, there was a and our listeners will have to, especially our spot on our spot on international listeners, there was a World Cup qualifier. I want to say, I want to say it was Egypt in somebody. And like laser pointers over there, it's just like whatever, you know. Like we just don't care. And the game finished in penalty kicks and the guys approaching the ball and his face is just red. It's just completely red. And think about how little surface area a laser pointer takes up on your head, but there had to be 50,000 laser pointers, just blasting him in the face, and it was amazing. And then like Brock Osweiler's mad about like 5, you know, and it's really funny. We have a good here at the states. Relatively speaking, I mean, athletes, you know, the complaint about all the fan spilled popcorn on me and our fans do need to learn how to behave better, but boy, over there in some of the World Cup qualifiers, it's just like, you can't even see. And so I thought about that game recently. It was a good one. It's a pretty good one. Yeah, the Cardinals lose a home game. They'll play the forty-niners down there. It's also like, so this will be their first game in Mexico City. It's not really, I know the Raiders are big down in Mexico City. I would forty-niners. I would think the forty-niners have a much larger fan base. Now, all that said, the Cardinals were a better team on the road than at home last year for reasons unknown, but that kind of stinks to go down to a new stadium and probably have a somewhat, I don't know, hostile ish crowd going against you. Oh yeah. Yeah, definitely. American corn farmers. A proud and chosen profession inspired through generations. Tested, resilient, and committed to giving back as much as they're growing, pushing the boundaries of what's possible with every bushel. While replenishing every increasingly precious resource, like the reduction of soil loss by 40% with every acre grown in a world where sustainability matters more than ever, we need all the help we can get, and there's no greater resource than the capable hands of American corn farmers. I've been a metro station manager for 20 years. People need to know we are ready for them. That means keeping everyone safe. Right now the focus is on trains and COVID precautions. Riders and employees wear masks. All buses and trains have improved air filtration. And we're working hard to get all our trains back on the track. My name is Jeff doubt. I'm doing my part to keep the D.C. area moving. So how about the cowboys here? Now they have a fairly soft schedule and we should point out when we say strength of schedule. It's not a super deep analytical dive here. It's based on last year's win loss record for all your opponents here and the cowboys were in a division that was not very good and you had two teams really bad records and a 500 team. And but the way it adds up, the cowboys have a pretty relatively easy schedule according to that statistic, but you see some problem areas here. Yeah, I think so. Dallas opens the season with the Buccaneers and then they have a home game against the Bengals. So you get Tom Brady and Jill burrow back to back and then this is theoretically your soft spot that's opening up here, but it's the Giants on Monday Night Football, which the Giants are going to be bad. The Giants are going to maybe be one of the worst teams in the NFL this year by design. Are we allowed to, I don't think they're tanking, but I think that there needs to be an effort here to let me take this from the top, I'm twisting myself in a pretzel here. Three, two, one. Yeah, so the cowboys start the season at home against Tampa Bay so they get Tom Brady week one. Jill burrow at home week two, and then a pair of divisional games, the Giants on Monday Night Football in week three, and then a short rest game against the commanders the following Sunday. You could theoretically say that the commanders in the Giants games are their soft spots, but the way that they're positioned in the middle of their schedule, I think week three is still probably too early to know. I don't think the Giants are going to be a great team this year. I think that they've got some rebuilding stuff that's happening for them. But we don't know what Brian dabel is going to be able to do for that offense. And that's a rivalry game. That's still legitimately anyone can win game. You coined flip that almost any year regardless of how talented both of those teams are. And then the commanders, Dallas has done a decent job, I think, rebuilding the edges of that offensive line. Commanders are so good at all parts of that. I think they could really disrupt Dallas. I'm not saying they start the season O and four, but if you could start to season one and three, and then you get and then this is a tough stretch here, right after that, you have to fly from Dallas to Los Angeles, and then you come home, and then you go Dallas to Philly, and then you come home. And so that's 1200 miles one way, and then you do the return trip, 1300 miles one way, the return trip. And then I think a week or two after that, you get Mike McCarthy going back to Green Bay, which I think is going to be a really heavy week for them. He hasn't been back there yet. You don't know what that, I mean, Aaron Rodgers, you talk about a game that that guy does not want to lose. I can't imagine somebody that he wants to beat more than the coach. He literally spent a year on trying to get fired. Due to his on field passive aggression. So I think that that game is going to be extraordinarily heavy. I think that's a tough that's tough. I mean, it's tough in general and it's tough when you also include the fact that most of these NFC east teams never capitalize on how crappy that division is. They always play down to their opponents. And I think Dallas will do that too. Boy, that packers game is gonna be rough. If they are win loss record relies, which, as you pointed out, they might be underachieving at that point, they might be sort of rounding the form when they head up to Lambeau Field, and that is boy. That's gonna be a big storyline week there..

"Have you have you seen the episodes of Tampa and House hunters? It's beautiful down there. You're in LA too, though. I spent four days in the Super Bowl there and it was like the cleanest air that I've ever experienced in my life. That's totally totally mind-blowing. Well, I mean, you know, I've never been to like Montana. I'm sure that's nice. But like compared to New Jersey, California is like a filtered, it's like living inside of a bottle of dasani. It's amazing. Tampa is the New Jersey of the south. It's oh, you know? Okay, we don't need Tampa. Although, you know, I don't want to say that because I have a lot of friends including you from New Jersey, so I like to tease my Friends from New Jersey. From across the bridge, as we say. Yeah, and I'm an adopted son. I come from a much more bustling sort of high, high intellect, metropolis Scranton, Pennsylvania. So it's a lot, it's a lot different, obviously. And we have to also watch, we have big time. We have bosses from Tampa, so we have to kind of watch the Tampa. Is that right? I was unaware of that. Well, it's been fun working with sports. Co editor in chief. Yeah, coder and chief Ryan hunt a superfan. All right, so we're going to cut all of this out then. Yeah, yeah. This is the last episode. Either way, it was a fun one. So I want to, so the story was co broken, which is an interesting thing. But by former boss an MMU cofounder Peter king and Sam farmer at the Los Angeles Times and what Bruce Arians said when he retired was, I know that, you know, what if Tom Brady gets hurt next year and we go ten and 8 or ten and 7 and they fire everybody and then Todd's back in the candidate pool with everybody else. He's going to get a crappy job with a crappy quarterback and nothing good's going to come out of this. And I thought it was so, you know, that's the definition of being an ally, regardless of how Tom Brady went behind his back and disguised himself and hired an ex FBI agent to push you out somehow. You know, all of that aside. The fact that you're thinking of Todd Bowles, you're thinking of the plight of head coaches of color in a very accurate and honest way, I thought was huge because. I went down the list of head coaches of color since 2000. And there's almost none that have gotten the chance to work with a legitimately good starting quarterback. You have Jim Caldwell, who worked with Matt Stafford, made the playoffs and then got pushed out. You have Mike Tomlin with Ben Roethlisberger. I think you could probably put that other than that. Vance Joseph had Brock Osweiler and Trevor Simeon, Steve Wilkes had Josh Rosen, Todd Bowles first, go around, had Ryan Fitzpatrick Josh mccown and Christian hackenberg. So there's just this sort of disastrous trend where, in order to get to work with a great quarterback, you have to be a quarterback whisperer. And in order to be a quarterback whisperer, you have to be in these insular fraternities of high end offensive thought. And in order to get in those, you have to be a white guy that's Friends with the head coach..

"Just spit out now. Quarterbacks three of them start yesterday wide receivers all over the place. The thing that mike is saying that will ward off what mark cuban was predicting twelve years ago. When he's like this bubble will burst. That sport can't keep getting more popular. It is concussions. It's attrition it's violent. It's unethical it's cockfighting. It can't keep growing this bubble's going to burst and in the middle of that we're watching brock osweiler cement footed back in the pocket. I'm gonna throw it out here three yards and i'm gonna spend the season doing that and to the point where you you create in me a hatred. I had not seen inside my body for football since i saw urban. Meyer suffering on the sideline yesterday like the whole spread between that was i never. I didn't feel that again like a vitriol an acid. I don't want good things to happen here. A and now look at it. He's talking about the ballet of basketball. The he's talking about the beauty of those wide receivers are so skilled that even these defensive backs who are unbelievable. they're cheetahs all of them ridiculous. Cheetahs and the wide receivers are more graceful. Because we're because it's julio jones because it's these guys that if a quarterback is gonna throw it to one spot and that guy is so big and strong that you can't do anything about it because he's he's brandon marshall fast. Everyone in the league now is brandon marshall. Fast right all of these guys. The i mean metcalf. What are you going to do with that. Like what's what does any human being the species of time throughout with metcalf when he when he wants the football and so two for the sport to become beautiful artful again after concussions and violence and everything else that is a tribute to them fixing those rules to make it something more interesting than it's been. I think the nfl's just become a lot more like college football now. You see a proliferation of spread area offenses in the nfl and the scheme has evolved to make it more exciting and fun game now in college. You know you you watch a handful of really great players surrounded by players that are not really pro level and now in the nfl. It's the best players in the country. All running these exciting fast paced offenses. And that's why it's just gotten a lot more fun to watch but it is to do with the evolution of these talents because used to be to have. A mobile quarterback was a choice right. We had to run a pro style offense or a system. That benefited a mobile quarterback. Michael vick was not a good quarterback in the traditional way. Use a great runner. A great arm wasn't a good quarterback. It's interesting i heard over the weekend. That lamar jackson spent entire practices in the run-up to this season. Just playing from the pocket like in in a training camp practice never scrambled to try and get better at this and the amazing thing about these talents is that they do have both you can stand in the pocket be traditionally good at playing the position while also having remarkable athletics. and it's unplayable. This is what i'm telling you though about what has been stu. Gods four five decades of this sport getting to this spot where bill polian sees a quarterback looking certain way peyton manning drops back. He's got a stiff neck. We've got to be a pocket passer. I am gonna throw with great precision and that held down the position across decades right. That's what it looked like. It couldn't look like anything else. Nothing but that had succeeded. So fran tarkenton or or archie. Manning was actually an athlete at the position. Nope it can't be john elway. It can't be somebody like that. It's got to be pure back. That just won a super bowl again. Okay but this is. That's fine stu gods and you just say to win for now and maybe tom brady will be doing twenty years from now. What i'm talking about is what's coming for the position. Why it's coming for the position and how it's been held back over the years over the years too because the moment brady went down brady none other all the rules change and now you got at that position. Oh wait a minute. I'm not allowed to hit that guy. And he's more athletic than me. And then watch how. The position evolves forced by merits. God's forced right but forced over. They don't they have not what they look at the guys who get the commercials and broadcasts. It's all the white quarterbacks. All of them all they get the or or greg olsen like those are the guys getting some with like. It's just again and again those are the guys. Get the job. And this is how it is that. The black guys have finally and josh allen but not daniel jones but this is how these guys have finally cracked the code. And all the old guys. They're gonna be gone soon. They played that way now. I need eight seconds to throw the ball. Who's gonna get extra time for my guy to get away from the defensive back and it's just been forced on the sport but you've got to watch it you've gotten to watch it through your lifetime. How it wouldn't change wouldn't change wouldn't change protected by poland's by police won't won't change. Brady's hurt rule change. Okay here's the flood rule change. Here's the flood the athletes. You can't hit them and they're better athletes than you randall. Cunningham was a novelty now. It's the norm and that's a good thing. This is not about right or wrong. And i'm a great i. I love to see the evolution of this position. I love seeing guys like trae leads. You know having opportunities and probably going to be a really good quarterback. I'm just saying you're not gonna get that out of the game. The pocket passer the kirk cousins. It's not going to be as quick as i. I think people it's fine like maybe it'll be ten years all i'm martyrs headed in the right around. This isn't a moral thing for me. I'm just marveling that. Were sitting in the middle of the evolution. I'm not making the like i'm not. I'm not gleeful here. Because i finally the black quarterback. I'm just fascinated that. We're right smack. Dab in the middle of this is how it finally evolves you get people yelling yelling across thirty years to got. You can't win with black quarterback scrambling quarterback mobile quarterback. You can't win that way. And now because of the offensive changes because the college coaches or scheming it up differently because The game is such an amazingly precise thing now so refined that it's shocking when tyreek hill or lock it are in your secondary free because everybody's on top of everybody and these are the best athletes you've ever seen crawling all over other at the height of evolution in america's most popular sport and we are right now sitting through what is the golden age of change to god's in sports sports a like change. You like the things that you've seen resist change. We right now. We're in the golden age of what looks like the evolution because all of you looked at week one and no matter. What your ethical concerns. And i've had him across years. You're like that's beautiful beautiful. That is that is the way soccer's beautiful that the athletes on this field a ridiculous. Everything is absurd. you're throwing it to a six nine tight end and you have to put it in a spot. Because he's got to you know he's he's got three guys crawling up like scaffolding his his shoulder pads beautiful just about everywhere but in pittsburgh that guy was a disaster every time i looked up the bills at twenty yards of offense happening. They're bad game. I thought that was going to be thirty. Eight thirty five. It was like thirteen. Three at halftime. Honestly the steelers looked exactly like they did last year plus nausea harris because the defensive line played incredible. Secondary was shockingly really good. The bills. offense couldn't get anything going. But as soon as ben went on the field i was like. Oh please no well. That's the other thing is this is. This is one of the other evolutions on the other side of the ball. Stugatz these unblock guys. Aaron donald j watts two miles. Garrett's the word. Yeah i mean all of these guys right. That's the other side of the ball evolving. Oh look you're going to go get all of these six seven basketball players to play tight end. We're gonna get to your quarterback faster with all of these six seven basketball players and everybody every the the most dominant guys. You're watching out there. And they all look like lawrence taylor chandler jones. How bad family is the bones. Jones family scary is that in chandler jones five sacks yesterday and every time he's back there it's like why is it only five.

"Does well against i don't know that's just me. I don't want to get off on a on a tangent and once we get to the week four match ups. I'll talk about that once. We get to that point but yeah. That's my thoughts on the vikings defense. I think they're going to be an improved unit. They got a bunch of guys coming back from kovin injuries. They are going to be a better defense. Because of that. And i think that they can be a top twelve top fifteen defense so then. Finally you got the kicker for the vikings you got greg. joseph didn't have any stats from last year. And he's going to be their starting kicker so obviously if he's starting kicker he's going to get over zero points so those are the players for the minnesota vikings and you know. This is a team that i do expect to make the playoffs. I really do. And you know when i talk about it on my other. Show my radio show which you definitely would should listen to post it on my youtube channel that i have. It's basically just my name. If you go to youtube be typing. Kenneth grew and felder. You'll see my youtube account. And i'll have all my radio shows from school up there so you know that when we talk about. Who's gonna make the playoffs looking at the schedule and stuff. I you know. It's kind of tough because you know the nfc is loaded. And i've said the cardinals. I think can make the playoffs. The forty niners the seahawks. The rams the vikings but there's only three wildcard spot. So i really got to think about who i one actually put in the playoffs and i definitely think the vikings probably make it over the cardinals just because they got a better defense. They have a better offense. In my opinion. I think tyler is better than kirk. Cousins but i just think that overall the vikings are a better team than the cardinals and the vikings have a lot of players that you wanna get. You wanna get justin. Jefferson wanna get adam appeal and you wanna get and cook. Those are the three main guys. Kirk cousins is a solid fantasy quarterback. He does put up solid fantasy numbers. And you know. I'm not the biggest kirk cousins supporter because well mainly because he you know. I don't like him for what happened. Twenty fifteen for me and my fancy championship. So i talked about this a long time ago. I one of the first shows that i did. But i had kirk cousins on my team and not think he was playing because washington already clinched the division so i sacked cousins. I started brock osweiler and what ended up happening was brock. Osweiler got bench for peyton manning. Because i was the final game of the regular season and then kirk cousins ended up playing had like three touchdowns over three hundred yards and he had like thirty four thirty some points and if i would have played him i probably would've won and i would have repeated in the league so yeah that was very frustrating and also another thing is kirk cousins in big games does not have a good track record and i would always say he does good when it's not you know crunch time it's not a big situation when it is a big situation. That's when he falters. And we've definitely seen that but you know what the guy went out and you wanna play off game so i can't really complain about dad. He finally won a monday night football. So got those things off of his back. Which is good. But i still don't trust him in big situations however i do when it comes to fantasy. He'll put up solid numbers for you. The vikings have a good enough team as long as alvin. Cook is healthy. Because he's also another guy. Like when i was talking about deck and baker feel like without dalvin cook. Kirk cousins is a different player. And i saw that a couple of times back in twenty nineteen when the packers won the division. The vikings were playing them. It was like week sixteen. I believe and they didn't have alvin cook that you had. Actually they had mike. Boone was playing running back. So i think madison got her to and the vikings offense just did not look good at all. So that's something to keep an eye on and fantasy of dalvand cook gets hurt. You definitely gotta think about it a little bit on whether or not you wanna start kirk cousins. Because he is definitely a different quarterback when his running game is not productive. But i just think you know kirk. Cousins is a guy solid fantasy quarterback the receivers the onen jefferson dalvin. Cook those are like the shore. You know guys that you want to draft the defense. I think you could also throw them in that category as well because all the stuff that i talked about. They're getting guys back from injuries. Michael pierce a guy that they got from the ravens. He opted out because the covert last year. Now he's coming back and you bring in sheldon richardson as well. The defense overall is going to be better defense. That i do have one of my teams and i expect them to do well. They're gonna give teams problems and now the crowds are back. That defense is gonna feed off the crowd. And it's i think minnesota's one of the toughest places to play in. And you know they definitely missed having fans last year. I mean watching that week. One game packers vikings. That was such a weird game to watch when no crowd and the packers you know. They won that game. I feel like with the crowd. It might have been a little bit different. But we're gonna see what happens in when the vikings have home games because there's gonna be capacity across the board when when talking about the nfl having their attendance being back to how it should be fans in the stands and field advantage plays a role it really does. Homefield advantage is huge in the playoffs. When it comes to the nfl and you know. The vikings definitely missed having their fans but overall the vikings you know we talked about all their players whether or not they will be around the same or be below their fantasy totals. I'm mostly said they'd be below but that doesn't necessarily mean that's a bad thing. I think it's just because everybody really had good seasons. I think their those players are going to probably see a little bit of a dip from their fantasy totals from a year ago and again. It's not a bad thing. it's just. That's just how i see it. And i think all those guys the main guys you know the two receivers coke in kirk cousins. Those are the main guys. you're gonna wanna draft. I don't necessarily think that going after herndon or conkland tight ends is a bad thing. I think that those guys can may be provide death for your teams depending on. How big your league is. How big your benches because i think they will see some target specifically in the red zone. I think that's where they're going to be most valuables in the red zone because obviously you got. Jackson jefferson cooking theline. Who are going to be moving the chains and doing all that guys like herndon and konkan. I think will be used more in the red zone. But that's just me. I think really what's going to drive. This team is of course. Jefferson thelander dalvand cook. That's really what is going to drive this offense and with that that concludes another installment of the over under segment with the players from the minnesota. Vikings i'll do the bears next and with that we will take our second break of the show when we come back. We'll talk about the one o'clock games of week. One and i'll go through each one and talk about the favorable unfavorable matchups from each matchup and talk about who should start. Who should said all that. Good stuff so stick around. We'll be right back here on the gs mc fantasy football podcast tired of searching the.

"Well, I mean, they were easy to make fun of for so long. And I feel like I almost feel like that's the football gods getting back at me that not only are the Cleveland Browns now really good at football, not only they are really talented football team. The team that I root for, and cover is considered to now be The 2021 version of the old Cleveland Browns. And I'm talking about the Houston Texans, however, as a As somebody who roots for the Texans and covers them. It will be the Cleveland Browns of, say, 2016 and 2017. Did I look to over the next couple of years as my oasis of hope? That the team that I root for might Might Be able to get back in the swing of things might be able to get back. Into the mix. Because it was 2017. That the Broncos were putting the finishing touches on a two year stretch where they went one in 31. And look, they've still got work to do to be a primary Super Bowl contender. But I think John is absolutely right, which is it's really hard to find flaws on their roster. For one thing, they do a really good year in free agency. They signed Johnson, the safety John Johnson, the safety they signed Jadeveon Clowney to a approve it deal. Made some other moves. Had a good draft, really a draft? Um And just the players they've drafted. They've gotten their picks right through the years. You know Myles Garrett. It's It's hard to screw up the number one overall pick, but teams have Not even screw up like sometimes you get a guy and he's a good player, but not like number one overall pick worthy Myles Garrett is the question will be as Baker Mayfield. That's the big question, because other than quarterback everything on that team, you look at that team you go, boy. It's really hard to find a flaw that they absolutely must address with this team. Baker could wind up being the guy. It's just he hasn't shown to be that level of the guy yet. Um But you know the pick that they traded The two picks they got from the Texans one in the D Shawn Watson trade, the other in the Brock Osweiler trade turned into Turn into Nick Chubb and Denzel Ward. They got those pics, right? They've got another picks, right? And and so by Like the 2019 offices. They were Owen. I can't remember which year they were. Oh, and 16. If it was 2017 or 2015. They were one in 31 for that two year stretch of 2016 and 2017. One in 31. And then, in the off season heading into the 2019 season, they made the trade for Odell Beckham Jr like that's how quickly they were able to turn it around, drafting Baker Mayfield going six and tenor Seven and nine or whatever it is, they went Baker's rookie year. That was enough. To where there was genuine optimism. Guys started to want to go play there. The fans are great fans always have been even through the bad years. And were trading for Odell Beckham Jr was something where Odell Beckham Jr didn't pitch a hissy fit about it. Now was trading a one in a 34 Odell Beckham Jr a good use of that draft capital up to this point? Probably not, but we'll see maybe Oh, BJ's got Got got it in him to kind of get his groove back. But that's that's how quickly it can turn and they may still be another year or two away from the Super Bowl, But they were relevant fairly quickly after that, and and suss. My producer just hit me in the chat, saying when was the last time Cleveland had genuine optimism heading into a season. I'm going to tell you when It was in 2019. They had genuine optimism, and that's where I did a lot of my poking fun at Cleveland Stick. Was back in this time in 2019 this time two years ago, the very same time I'm telling you that they had returned to relevance the problem for for Cleveland and particularly the fans in Cleveland at that point Was they were way way way too invested. At a high level in Baker Mayfield off of what was a decent rookie year, and more importantly, number two Freddie Kitchens. That was what I continually pointed out to Cleveland fans was Whoa. I know you've made all these improvements to the roster. I know you've drafted a ton of guys. I know you've signed some guys you traded for O B. J. Baker Mayfield should make some progress from year one to year. Two. As it turns out, he didn't But I said to them, I just can't Reconcile with all this improvement that was made to the roster. That Freddie Kitchens is the guy. And I said it throughout the summer, and I was proven right. I'm not write a lot, but I was right about that. Now, since you think that was fake optimism in 2019 Explain yourself, Suss. I'd say fake optimism, mostly because you go into like, you know, you ever get you had these scenes every year where they are really hyped up. The media's behind them, but it's like you're putting gas into a balloon that's going to definitely pop like into a faulty balloon, you know. So By 2019 teen like it just felt as though something was off. I know that we wanted we wanted French Freddie kitchens, too. Do well, I presumably but Suddenly was clearly off of that team. And we get those like those early teams that everyone just bandwagons onto immediately only for the bandwagon to just fall apart as soon as the season starts. But I wouldn't you say, like genuine optimism. Like when was the last time like the Browns were, like, Really good for, like a stretch of for, like, a full stretch, like, okay, that then? Okay, So you're saying like optimism like the same optimism that like Buffalo feels right now you're saying optimism that Like not not, uh, like this, you know, naive optimism where you're like, Hey, this is it. We're back. And even though coming off of a six and 10 team with a guy who just finished up his rookie year, and I I apologize. Cleveland. I don't recall exactly what their record was in Baker's. You think it's like 78 and one or something like that? So you're saying like Optimism that was grounded in a couple years of progress that had them on the short list of Super Bowl contenders. Is that what you're saying? Yeah, something along those lines What was like, What's it like? The late eighties? Probably. Bernie? Yeah. Bernie Cozaar. Probably Bernie Cozaar. Yeah. Late eighties. Yep, yeah, Never never never in this iteration by by your definition of optimism, Never this iteration of the Browns like this browns too dot Oh, that came back in 1999. After Art Modell moved the team to Baltimore. I would say, I would say never if that's how we're categorizing the optimism. You know what I mean? Um, probably. Yeah, probably Bernie Cozaar, making a couple a F C title games back in the day. Earnest Byner fumble. That'd be my guess. Do you think it's genuine this time sauce like do you think there's something to believe it? I think there's something to believe in here with Cleveland. Absolutely. The coach is excellent..

"Is that Does that just exclude me? No. You're expelled. Thanks, Belle. How about, Hmm? How about a team like the Chiefs? 12? Okay, Cool. I'm still alive. You're missing one team that has 13 winning seat winning seasons since 2003. And 11 and 2 10. Um, I mean the only because of playoff failures. I would say, I think the Chargers are still up there because of Philip Rivers. I'll say the Chargers 10 winning season since 2003. The charges are correct. Missing one team with 13 1 of 11 and one with 10. What about the Indianapolis Colts? 13 winning seasons since 2003 now to 11 and 10, and I would say they're here. Your your clues are this They were in the same division these two teams, and I think one of them will come as a surprise that they've had 10 winning season since 2003 main divisions, So I'm going to take a shot here and say the Dallas Cowboys. 10. That's right. 10 winning season. It's got to be one of the other NFC East teams break. I thought Dallas was the surprise one. I'm surprised to hear they had 10 winning seasons. NFC East is winning season nine wins or more, right? Yes, that's right. Yep, I'll say the Eagles Eagles is correct the 11 winning seasons. The way people talk about the Cowboys in 10 winning season since 2003 It's not that bad, right? Like the teams that have been better. It's Eagles, chiefs, Packers, Steelers, Ravens, Colts, Seahawks and Patriots. No, I didn't. I I didn't cheat on this, but I did see his list yesterday. But what stood out to me? I didn't look at the top What we did here. I looked at the bottom bottom. I had to check it. I didn't believe it. The bite. There's a franchise with one winning seasons can guess that 11 winning season since 2000 and three just 111. Oh, let's see here. Just one. Yeah, I'm with you. So I saw that and I had. I'm like I got to check that thought it was wrong. Yep. Mm. All right. I think I got to guess I'm not confident in this, but I'll guess this Chicago bears. No, no, it's not correct. The Bears have had Not many the Bears events sit right. It's not the Browns The Browns have had to. Yeah, Browns bed to the Jets have had to. At least the Jets have had 66 Okay. It would take it. Take most people a while to get to this team. The Lions have had four winning seasons since 2000 and three. My next guest right? The run lines are great answer. Wolf Washington said five Bangles have had 77 right. So one just one winning season since 2000 and three To me. By the way, I've had five. I mean, Here's your other clue, Okay? The reason I looked it up as I thought. Maybe it only meant since they moved Because the ramps No, it's the it's the Raiders. You're getting closer Raiders. Okay, It's the Las Vegas Raiders and I saw this. Listen. I thought that there must mean only since they moved to Vegas and no Their entire existence. They've had one winning season since 2003 and bring up that Jon Gruden comment where it's just what What was that confident? He said, right after right when he got rehired again. Um, there was something just like winning. That's all we do or something. I don't. I don't know. Yeah, that's weird about this organization. Something like that. But that season was 2016. The Raiders went 12 and four lost in the wild card round to the Houston Texans. 27 to 14. Was that Matt Shab? Yeah, because Derek Carr got her. No, it was Brock Osweiler. Soldiers started that game. He was a raider. Yeah. Broadcast weather. No, no, no. I mean for the Texans over the top. Oh, that's the game car was hurt. Connor Cook started. Yeah, for the race that didn't Matt McGloin play later on because they were just losing so badly or not, he might have out. He didn't throw up. He didn't throw a pass in that game. Connor Cook in that game 18 of 45 Connor Cook through 45 passes in an NFL playoff game. Mm. Raiders have had some pretty bad injury locked by the way when it comes to the post season. Right. I mean, Bo Jackson is on the list when the Ravens win the Super Bowl with the greatest one of the greatest defenses ever. They knock Rich Gannon out early in that NFC championship game. Mean Gannon was really good. And the Raiders had had a good good season. And then here you have, you know, you mentioned Derek Carr. They're they're only winning season and 18 years and they lose their quarterback to an injury and have to start a guy through who goes 18 of 45. "He's the guy that you thought he was when you draft. Yes, To last thing. Schlereth is going to be on Greenie this morning at 11:30 A.m. Eastern, yet another slight for Cage's. He's on tape with us. He's live with. Great. I mean, one day I'll get over. Okay. I got to mention this is the only team I Wayne and always have J and key way in with our experts, But I covered the team for a long time. The Broncos haven't been to the playoffs in Super Bowl 50 that's paid. Manning's Walk von Miller the M V P the whole thing over Cam in the Carolina Panthers, right? We just completed Super Bowl 55. That was Super Bowl 50. These are the quarterbacks. That have started a game for the Denver Broncos since Peyton Manning retired, and this is why they're forever searching. Drew lock, in my opinion is just good enough. He's good, just good enough. And right now, when you've had mediocre quarterback play, you will take just good enough. Not enough for a franchise who's Super Bowl Championship quarterbacks have been John Elway and Peyton Manning just saying. Here we go. Ki Jae ready. You're the quarterback since Super Bowl 50. Trevor Sydney, no case Keenum threw lock Joe Flacco Mama. The return of Brock Osweiler. My mom, My mom never arrived. Paxton Lynch, believe it or not one game with Brandon Allen. Jeff Driskel, my mom. Mahatma, Mark, Mark, Mark Mark going and the last one. I'm gonna go to SportsCenter guy here, Sport Center guy. I know what you're thinking. It's the guy that went one for 13. When all the quarterbacks have the coronavirus, Kendall Hinton. But before you do, Ricky Not Kendall Hinton, because the first snap of that game where they had to play with no quarterbacks, was taken by Phillip Lindsay. So Phillip Lindsay will actually go down as the starting quarterback. In that game, just for the stickler respect. That's a very lovely that is for sure. So that's your quarterbacks in Denver, Elway manning Super Bowl Championships and that's what we have. And you can't keep starting over. You can't you just can't keep drafting the guy drafted? A guy drafted it if you don't get to Shana Watson Been great, but keep it makes it tough. Because when you look in that division, like all right, just to Herbert, Rising star Patrick Mahomes Wow. Okay. Derek Carr's serviceable Trulock. Ah, but no young man. This is only a second year, So he is a serviceable guy as he continues to grow as that team, get the guys back from injury. If you go out there and you get you draft another guy now what? You started all over. You can't keep if you get the shot watching great. But it is like 20 teams is trying to get to shine, including Denver Cream, Jackson's and Pretty strong and it last thing I would say Drew lock ended 2019 going for in one. So after even the quality of competition is not good. They expected him to take the lead on your foreign one end of the season. Got the thumb injury He had a couple years ago. You're looking good. And then where have I heard this before? It was a progress stopper, right? Use four on one. Let's take it to the next level. Full season will get you a couple of wideouts. Couple couple tight ends. Yep. Got to take the next step has been able to do it. Keyshawn jails even presented by progressive insurance. You could save big when you bundle your auto home. "It's been a lot of fun, but yeah, that's a that's a little bit of my background right there. All right. Well, I appreciate that. So, so that leads me to the next part here since you just joined the beat for the Broncos this last year. Give me your perception. On what Has been holding this team back. What are some of the reasons why they've been struggling over the past several years as a guy kind of coming in with some fresh eyes? Well, I think it's obvious Yep. Start with the quarterback situation. You look it. Um, You know the guys they've had back there since, you know, painting any retired. Really? Um, and it's just been kind of a struggle. And, you know, obviously, they've been through. You know, several guys with Paxton Lynch and Brock Osweiler. And, um you know all those guys and you look at Drew walk obviously. Miss past season and his ups and downs, you know, and I know he showed some promise there at the end, but I think that's kind of where you have to start, But I think you also look at some of the different areas. I think that even go to the head coach. I think Vic Fangio has come in and done a decent job. But, um, you know, to losing seasons, they missed the playoffs both times. But he's been there. So this is a big, you know, third year that he's going into. Obviously they missed with Vance. Joseph. Um, you know, I think those have been a key issues its head coach and quarterback, But you can also even go down the line and I know you know we might get into this, but My nobody wants to talk about what they're gonna do it to lock. And if they're going to trade for a guy who drafted guy, but I mean, they have a lot of holes in other places. I mean, I think Justin Simmons has to be a priority. I think he is. You look at the cornerback situation. I think those are some big holes right there that they have to go get some words up there. Maybe through the draft, maybe through free agency. You know, you look at right tackle. I think that's an issue that they need to address this offseason. They never Juwan James is coming back next year. That's another position that I think they really need to look strongly added improving on the offensive line, you know, and then again, quarterback is another one that you have to point out and s. So I think there's a lot of different things that they need to get better. I didn't visit to Sean walked in, type player come in and fix all that. I don't know what kind of, you know maybe depends on what you have to give up. So, um, you know, I think that from my outsider's perspective, I guess is It's kind of where it started is, you know? Do you go on? Get that top level quarterback this offseason or do you wanna fix some of those other holes and maybe wait, I'll get him in 2022, maybe here to lock another shots to be the guy next year. Well, George welcome to lately to the to the Broncos beat and my uncle or a great uncle. I guess it was. Charles Albright was 40 year columnist for the Arkansas Democrat. Is that so? I know well, that paper's history and heritage um What has been the most interesting moment for you on the Broncos beat thus far. We'll have to be then playing without any quarterbacks..

"Noon on the East Coast. Nine on the West Coast, wherever you are in between. Hello? And we are one week away from the Super Bowl. But the football gods last night gave us a little gift of a blockbuster trade in Is there anything better? Then at least this is May then the NFL, not just the games they have made their off season. Amazing right, like the NFL off season is better than some sports sports seasons, right, And it started a little early this year. Not even don't even get to the start of free agency or around there. We have a a blockbuster so that Matt Stafford's going to the Rams in return. Is a you know. Draft picks, Traffics Traffics and Jared Goff, first rounder in 2022 2023, Jared Goff and a third round draft pick this year. Go to the Detroit Lions. Matt Stafford goes to the Rams. So many different things to impact from this and let's start right here. Does this make the Rams a A Super Bowl contender? And the answer is easy. Yes, of course it does. But they're already borderline Super Bowl contender. I don't know if anybody really took them seriously as a team that could be the Kansas City Chiefs or even even some of the better teams in the NFC like the Packers, but Certainly with that defense and with an offense that really just lacked the quarterback. I think a lot of people thought the Rams were serious. So of course, adding a guy like Matt Stafford. Would make you then take that next week to be like, okay? Yeah, they can. They can be a Super Bowl team from the NFC. But it doesn't necessarily mean that it's just gonna happen like that. So let's start here. First of all. Jared Gaffe is a former first round pick of former first overall pick. Excuse me and somewhat or somewhat disappointing going into this season, his career so far with the Rams, and then I think they just finally said You know what? We can't do this anymore. We're out. What were we gotta? We gotta figure it out. And it was on this show a couple weeks ago after the Rams season ended where we played the cut. Sean McVey, the Rams coach say that Jared Goff is our quarterback right now, And then he said it again the day after the game, and then there there, general manager Les Snead said the same thing you say, boys currently he's our quarterback at the moment. That told you all you needed to know now moving. Jared Golf is a totally different conversation. Because sure you you would want to trade the guy away. But there's a lot of financial reasons that teams would say why would I want that guy? Right. So that's where Jared Goff was at this point in his career. He was a disappointing player. Sure. I mean, he may be a starting quarterback in this league, but not the amount of money that he was making and the ramp looked at him and said, You're what? You're what's holding us back. You're the reason why we can't get to and win a Super Bowl, so they made a move and they made a very aggressive move. And they made a move that's telling you that they're going for it right now. Does it put them in the in the driver seat to be the team that that represents the NFC next year in the Super Bowl? Can you believe we're already talking about this? That this year's Super Bowl hasn't even happened? Um But it certainly puts them puts them in the conversation from there. Now it's about Matt Stafford, because because, remember this. Matt Stafford has thrown for a lot of yards He's thrown for. Ah, lot of touchdowns. He looked at the stats. They jump off the sheet. He's got Hall of Fame type numbers. If he continues to put up the numbers that he did write. The one thing that he doesn't have are the winds. The playoff wins the success. Forget about postseason success. How about regular season success? I'm a NIT picker when it comes to guys like Philip Rivers when talking about the Hall of Fame that separate doesn't want squat when it comes to the postseason or really the regular season. So now he gets a chance to go to a team that has won that has been in the Super Bowl recently. That has top skill guys that has a great defense that has a head coach that everybody thinks is innovative and certainly Ah, fantastic play caller. So now he's really, really gonna have a chance. The cost that it took to get Jared Golf is two first rounders or excuse me to get that. Stafford is two first rounders and a third rounder. But here's really what it comes down to. And Jared Goff. Here's really what it comes down to. Stafford was worth about a first round draft pick. Right. So if you gave up your first round draft pick, probably maybe a little bit more, maybe a mid round selection. You could get Matt Stafford. The problem was the Rams needed to get rid of Jared Goff to be able to get Matt Stafford and to get rid of Jared Goff. They needed to include another first round draft pick in the trade. So remember Brock Osweiler got traded T the Browns and they got a second round pick and return because they just took on the salary of them, And then he just caught him. He'd even play with them. That's what this was. Except they're not going to cut him. The lines aren't going to cut him. They're gonna have to play him because of financial reasons. More of that coming up in a second, So the Rams have gone all in and getting that Stafford. They don't have a first round draft pick. Now until 2024. They have now traded seven consecutive first round draft picks. 16 4017 they traded to get golf 2018 for brandy cooks. 2019 actually traded out of that they traded down 2020 and 2021 this year and last year, the Jalen Ramsey trade. Never. They get those two first round draft picks to get quarterback Jalen Ramsey. Now we have these. These being, um, traded as well. But the bigger the bigger The bigger thing to me with the rands is, Yeah, They're going for it and any team that goes for it and feels like their clothes. I'm going to give him credit and I'm going to give him props because I'm like, you know, At least they're going for it. They knew with golf that they could only get too far. And they were going for it. But, man, are they going for it? Because look what it look what? It took Tea, trade up and get golf And now to get rid of Jared Gulf to trade up and get him. Remember back in 2016. They had the 15th pick in the first round. Personal pick number 15.

"Baby coming in hotter than stock at Gamestop. It is the Vince Quit show. We're back bay. They God, what a night. What a night to be in because you get a trade just a massive monster deal here, where Matthew Stafford is shipped over to the Rams. And man, this happened quick. You see, Dan Campbell comes out head coach the Lions. He's got a quote in an article. He's like, Yeah, the talks are hot and heavy, and it's like Dan Campbell. I have no idea what that really means The guys accountable, but You know, it was hot. It was heavy. So we got this big deal. There's a lot to dissect there. We'll figure out what Dodge Coin is. Maybe we'll just get all the current events in. Um Here's a fun one for yourself. Oh, this is this is fun. I had my first bris this week. It wasn't for me. It wasn't for me, too. Good thing that it wasn't for you. It wasn't for me. You'd be a little late for me, but I attended a brisk for the first time. Kind of, you know, now, there might be some listeners out there that don't know what that is. Yes, Google it, But don't do an image search could explain on the air what it is. We'll talk about it. We'll get we'll get their way. Got four little delicate When you explain what that is all you got to be delicate with the whole thing in general. That's true. Well, maybe it's not so delicate. Um, well, that no, that's delicate. That's why I was horrified. It was it was true. Matic experience. Imagine having that done to you at the advanced age. No, I don't know if you do they do that. Does that happened? I don't know. This is over to start the show. Let let us know if you are an adult that has gone through a bris. I don't think they do this. But if you've converted at an older age do they do a bris for an older person. 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. We're off to a great start. Really? Don't wanna think about that. No pictures, please s Oh, let's do this. Is, But let's talk about the deal here right because there's so many different things. When you're talking about quarterbacks getting traded like this. There's so many different elements to these deals to get into for each team. What it means for the league. There's the dish on Watson element, of course. And what does this mean for him? What this is Val. You look like so so let's start going through all of the big, confusing, crazy mess that is Matthew Stafford getting swapped for Jared Gulf and and here's the first thing that I really take away from this Is This is a hell of an indictment on Jared Goff. Okay, This is a bad look. Because you have to think of the circumstances around this and for a franchise to give up on a quarterback that's younger. That has gotten them to a Super Bowl. But they did give a big contract to recently. For them to give away this guy and for the way that they did it. Because you look at the package and you might say, Well, Matthew Stafford for Jared Goff. Okay, uh, Stafford's probably better than golf. I don't know if if that's such a great deal, but I want to get rid of Jared got fine. But here's the thing. It's not just Matthew Stafford For Jared Goff. There's a third round pick this year. There's a first round pick from the Rams next year. There's a first round pick from the Rams the year after that. Because the Rams live in some world were first round picks are not valuable or useful or something they're interested in. So they said, Yeah, you know, this is the Dodge Coin. There we go. See, now we're really working it in this the Dodge coin. Of draft stock, and we're gonna move it, And that's the thing the Rams had to add all of these draft picks in to get rid of Jared Gulf. It's not just throwing all of this in to get Stafford. It's not that Stafford is so overwhelmingly good that he's worth a third end two first round picks. But Jared Goff with his contract is somebody. That is not all that valuable. And so you're not just paying for Stafford, your paying. The Lions to take Jared Goff off of your hands, which doesn't happen often. We don't see these kinds of deals, especially quarterback in the NFL. The last time this happened was what Brock Osweiler. Which not exactly success story so Looking at Jared Goff here for the Rams to do that. And here's the thing. That guy didn't think about this. Jared Goff just a couple of weeks ago wasn't like three weeks ago. He want to play off game against the Seattle Seahawks with a broken thumb. He wasn't even did surgery on it. He wasn't supposed. He was the backup in that game. He came in because the backup got hurt in the first couple of plays John Woolford. And God comes in, and he's not supposed to play. But he beat Seattle. They went 30 to 20. Tonight's story. You know, it's It's a big game. It's a big win. So that guy Just a couple of weeks later, they're paying another team to take him off of their hands. So that's a massive indictment. You've also got just the idea that organizations don't like giving up on quarterbacks, even when they're not great. Her cousins was getting towards the end of his deal. Grazed her cousins, right? Is he? Is he an amazing quarterback? Is he somebody could move on from? Yeah, absolutely. You could totally move on from Kirk cousins. Well, Vikings didn't move on from Kirk Cousins. They decided to keep that guy because even if he's not amazing, If you're letting a decent quarterback Oh, you don't always believe that you're gonna be able replace that. But the Rams were like, Yeah, let's let's just give up everything. I just give up a bunch of stuff and let's go and get Matthew Stafford. So for Shawn McVeigh, the guy who, you know, offensive mastermind or not, however, you wanna look at him. I think he's a pretty damn good coach. You look at Sean McVeigh and for him to look at golf in the guy that he's been paired with. It's his first head coaching gig. This the first quarterback. He's with its of marriage, right? What a lovely marriage and then it falls apart pretty quickly, and now he's out of town. That's an indictment. Right, so looking at the value of Jared Goff, and here's the interesting thing it It just seems to confirm what everybody's really felt about Jared Goff, Sometimes there's There's conversations that we have his fans right for people who've watched the game follow the game obsess about the game. The way we talk about it and look at it is going to be different. Sometimes, then the league than insiders, you know they value the player differently, for whatever reason, they but they might. There might be a disconnect between what we see on the outside of what people see within the lake. This was a pretty strong indictment that we're all on the same page here. Jared Goff. Just isn't that good? And here's the other thing that we'll get to this more a little bit later, but Don't see him getting any better in Detroit. So if your Lions fan and by the way, if you're lions fan, a Rams fan like especially and I'll take calls from anybody if you want to get in to talk about this, But I would love to hear from some lions and Rams fans about this. I mean, how do you feel about these moves? 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 to tie joins show 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 because again the number one thing I've got from this is it's an indictment on Jared Golf. And part of it is it's not that McVeigh. It's not just that McVeigh's giving up on him that they're doing it as the contract is kicking in that they're paying things to get rid of him. But also Jared Goff is what the problem is really, And it's weird that it worked out this way. But The problem was the Super Bowl. Jared Goff getting to the Super Bowl and getting crushed the way he did. I mean, how bad was that Super Bowl? Right. That was That was the first time in my life like there's been games where it's been a blowout, and it hasn't been super entertaining. But you had moments and as the score is getting run up like the Seahawks dominated the Broncos like eight years ago, and that was fun for a half. That's super Bowls. Awful and part of it was golf was just shaking. He's up and down. You don't know exactly what you're going to get for a guy that's supposed to be the system quarterback. You want stability. You want consistency. You want reliability. When this guy's going to start you want to go? At least I have an idea. Even if he's not amazing, right? There's a lot of conversation around Jimmy Garoppolo. How good is Jimmy Garoppolo? Is he great? Should San Francisco hold on to them? They don't know..

Because you look at the package and you might say, Well, Matthew Stafford for Jared Goff. Okay, uh, Stafford's probably better than golf. I don't know if if that's such a great deal, but I want to get rid of that. Jared got fine, but but here's the thing. See, now we're really working it in this the Dodge coin of draft stock, and we're gonna move it. And and that's the thing the Rams had to add all of these draft picks in to get rid of Jared Guff. It's not just throwing all of this in to get Stafford. It's not that Stafford is so overwhelmingly good that he's worth a third end two first round picks, but Jared Goff with his contract is somebody that is not all that valuable. And so you're not just paying for Stafford, your paying the lions to take Jared Goff off of your hands. Which doesn't happen often. We don't see these kinds of deals, especially quarterback in the NFL. The last time this happened was what Brock Osweiler, which not exactly success story, so Looking at Jared Goff here for the Rams to do that. Here's the thing. That guy you think about this. Jared Goff just a couple of weeks ago wasn't like three weeks ago. He wanna play off game against the Seattle Seahawks with a broken thumb. He wasn't even did surgery on it. He wasn't supposed to use the backup in that game. He came in because the backup got hurt in the first couple of plays John Woolford. And God comes in, and he's not supposed to play. But he beat Seattle. They went 30 to 20. It's a nice story. Is he? Somebody could move on from? Absolutely you could totally move on from Kirk cousins. Well, Vikings didn't move on from Kirk Cousins. They decided to keep that guy because even if he's not amazing if you're letting a decent quarterback go, you don't always believe that you're gonna be able replace that. But the Rams were like, Yeah, Let's let's just give up everything. Just give up a bunch of stuff. And let's go and get Matthew Stafford. So for Shawn McVeigh, the guy who, you know, offensive mastermind or not, however, you wanna look at him. I think he's a pretty damn good coach. You look at Sean McVeigh and for him to look at golf and the guy that he's been paired with. It's his first head coaching gig. This the first quarterback. He's with its of marriage, right? Oh, what a lovely marriage and then it falls apart pretty quickly, and now he's out of town. That's an indictment. Right, so looking at the value of Jared Goff, and here's the interesting thing it It just seems to confirm what everybody's really felt about Jared Goff, Sometimes there's There's conversations that we have his fans right for people who've watched the game followed the game obsess about the game. And the way we talk about it and look at it is going to be different. So if your Lions fan and by the way, if you're lions ban a Rams fan like especially it, I'll take calls from anybody If you want to get in to talk about this, But I would love to hear from some lions and Rams fans about this. I mean, how do you feel about these moves? 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 to tie joins show 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 because again the number one thing I've got from this is it's an indictment on Jared Guff, and part of it is, It's not that McVeigh. It's not just that McVeigh's giving up on him that they're doing it as the contract is kicking in that they're paying things. Get rid of him. But also Jared Goff is what the problem is really? And it's weird that it worked out this way. That Super Bowl was awful, and part of it was golf was just shaky. He's up and down. You don't know exactly what you're going to get for a guy that's supposed to be the system quarterback. You want stability. You want consistency. You want reliability. When this guy's going to start you want to go?.

"That was a big, big topic today. People were going on and on about man, just how he kind of definitely kept that ship afloat where it's a Manning is nine touchdowns and 17 interceptions or something like that. It gets benched. After he sets a record against Kansas City and then time record that is hurt chronicle her, but he was he was hurt. It just wasn't like right. He could've played him. He couldn't play through, but but he was he was not. He's not the guy. And then they bring in broadcast Wyler, who does a great job in relief, and then week 17 goes back demanding, but we can. We can spend a lot of time on that. But what? I watched that game And I just saw like the culmination of it. And just how their stars which was von Miller. DaMarcus Ware Manning, of course, because of the star power the he brings, but I mean, Emmanuel Sanders was nails. Looking nails. They just had the right guys with the right leadership step up at the right time and again that comes back to the coach pushing the right buttons. That's the thing that stands out to me over wall. We talk about the quarterbacks, but he goes to the entire team. Yeah, I don't envy somebody being in that position. But he just had that inmates gut feeling to make the call and then broadcast water to be perfectly clear broadcast whether outplayed Peyton Manning that year, he was a better quarterback than Peyton Manning was that season. And they might have won a championship with him. They might have had something in Gary Kubiak's Gut said If I'm gonna turn this is the time to do it. And he did that happen to be the you know the right there. Peyton had just enough left to push him over the finish line or get drug of the finish line, depending on how you look at it. So if if Brock Osweiler let's say he does play through and they win a championship with broadcast weather, is he back? Oh, yeah, because he was upset about the Chargers. That's where the decision was made. And it wasn't really him. So much is his camp. That kind of push that broadcast. Why there's kind of an affable guy know if you would talk to broadcast whether it's kind of Ah, surfer dude, kind of, you know, kind of got that laid back. You know, kind of demeanor, I guess when you talk to him, and so if he gets riled up about something, um there's there's a problem, you know, and him and his camp. I mean, his his agent and his his old lady. You know, we're a big part of that, and they were really upset about it. And you know that blood over in his His mind and his life and you know you talk to him. Now He's got some regrets about that kind of stuff, you know, and then be honest with you. He had. Hey, talked Toc talk to somebody else. The Pac 12 network while back and he talked to somebody about it, and Hey, was talking about his time in Miami toward the end, and he was like, Honestly, I'll play the best football my life at that point, you know, um, and they think it just did finally started to come together for him at that point. And he, um he couldn't get anybody calling. You know after that database thing, and then he couldn't get anybody to pick up the phone and and and bring him in any kind of, you know, kind of realized that he actually he hated football for a while, after which, in retrospect, Now that we've seen how much success everybody tends to have after Adam case Everybody should have been. There might have been the conversation for leading VP Look at the chant ago. Every word, right? I allowed to say it. All you have to do is spend any time with out of gays. And you realize that your career is just starting at that point, right? Man. I can't wait to see Sam Donald break every record in the league monster, right? Oh, my gosh. Why do you think we've apparently table to trade for Sam Donald says is very, very good reason for that. Anyway, So Yeah, that was that was kind of my my thoughts. I was watching the NFC championship game is just you know what a great job he did, pushing all the right buttons. You know what kind of kind of gets to you know? What does Vic Fangio do? I mean, because you got a fast forward here to what? What Vic Fangio does about pushing the right buttons, right has to be kind of the right question. And so far there are times when we see that. I mean, there are moments where Considering the Amount of starters that they were missing on the defensive side and then still holding Kansas City to 22 points on the road in prime time that that was pushing the right buttons. Yeah, like the key had moments this year Now there were moments where he didn't push the right buttons, huh? But that I'm not saying he has to be Gary Kubiak. But that's what that's what the head coach does in a lot of ways of Gary Kubiak and lead offensive month, right And he's I mean, you know Vic Fangio to his credit, clearly an elite defense of mind. But you know there was there was something about the way he managed the whole team. He was able to do the whole thing. I don't know if it does that, and I don't know it might take him a while to get there. Now, Remember, Gary Kubiak had plenty of years of experience being a head coach down in Houston before he came to Denver. So it's not like like this was his first rodeo. This is Vix First Rodeo on Lee, two years in The way you know 34 to 5 year contract, Potentially He hasn't been pushing all the right buttons on the office. This seems pretty obvious at this point. Well, yeah. Vick wants to be aggressive on office. But he wants to be kind of hands off. You know, One thing that struck me today is New York Jets and Robert Sala. Yeah, and Robert Salas, the defensive coordinator, but he very vehemently said right there is pressure. I'm not gonna be calling the place my defensive coordinators doing that. I'm the head football coach, and he wanted to differentiate those two positions. Vic Fangio doesn't do that. You failed your calls, the defensive plays and he's He's the defensive coordinator and the head football coach, Robert Salas. Different approach that everybody's got their own thing. Not one way stop right or wrong or whatever, but that struck me today was I was I was watching that I was like, Well, you know, I mean, he kind of has a hands off approach on the offense. He really doesn't you know, really just kind of delegates at and trusts that that's going to get done and goes from there. He wants to be aggressive. It's not like most defensive coaches where they kinda want to be conservative, and you know that kind of stuff. He wants to be aggressive. You know, He got two delegates that you know, I don't know if that's I don't know That's a good or bad thing. Is it too much on his plate? Because there's gonna be too much on Robert Solace Plate. Is it too much on somebody who's an offensive coach and a play called Big shot?.

"The Yankees through his son played for the Cowboys. Another Michigan quarterback, though Yeah? Yep. Kid that was pretty good quarterback. Yeah, Yes, the moment he had a good run s a backup in as a starter. You know, he had a couple of really good years as a star. Remember him? Seattle based more than any other team. I remember him is a bangle for some reason. Yeah, he was there. How about to Shawn Watson? Is we wrap a professor tower? What about Broncos fans are excited about even the possibility I I think it's a long, long, long shot here in Denver. But I would make the deal. No disrespect to drew lock if you could get to Shawn Watson. What's the deal? Three first My take my take three first, but you know to To first. Two seconds in a player Something like that. I would I would do it. If that's what it was. Who wants to twos in a player. Because you just set your Your team up. Toe win right away next year and probably for the next 10 years. Yeah, He's 25 years old 25. Houston has a big fat mess on their hands. I mean, this just John Watson is upset, not with a GM or not, with You know, coach he's upset with the owner owner. I mean, the owner is not going to sell the team. So I mean, I don't know. Initially, I thought well, they'll find a way depend on who they hire is the head coach. They'll find a way to work it out. And I would suspect the Texas will try to do just that. I'm not so sure. Not so sure that they're gonna be able to work this out. But the Sean comes here. Houston takes Carson Wentz. And then Really will have to draft right. What? Okay, what do the Broncos have to give? Who are they? Giving? What to That's good question. Let me think about that during the break. I would make the deal. I heard you guys talking about it coming in. Well, you know, I mean, So it just Sean Watts is not compelled to do it by himself. Listen, stop! Stop! If you wouldn't make a deal for dish on Watson, then you you got it. I say this respectfully. You got turned in your football card. You gotta go watch Oprah reruns in Texas fans will have a total meltdown if they deal him, but they don't want to lose him. But he's a mean he. He's the real thing. This is a kid. That 25. He's one of the top quarterbacks in the game. I'd make that deal every single day of the week. If I could find a way to do it. I'm just saying, Well, let's hope the next day I was gonna do you know it's not anything against Drew Walk. It's just The NFL. That's how football works on a bad team. This year, he completed 70% of his passes. 4800 yards. 33 Touchdown, seven picks. I mean, that's that's elite. Yeah. What if Drew lock was part of the deal, and you mentioned Texas fans after Brock Osweiler on then they get drew lock from the Broncos. Sean thought about that about a million had thought about boycotting. We're already talking. They're already talking about, uh, a protest Ng and Shawn's asked him, not me. I saw that. "Much longer do we think he can coach? I think you could coach at a high level for another 10 years if he wanted to. That's a good question being able to versus wanting to I don't I don't know the one part be able to. I think almost a decade, I think Still, I think he's still the bad guy and I answered want to, but I think Can is until he dies. You know what I mean? So you're basically didn't answer the word. The question awaits. Word is no. I didn't read it and I didn't listen to you. I was worried about whatever you're handing me. You're still busy pumping and thinking, Do I have to pass John Elway's stepping back from the GM role and taking a higher position with team Aside from bringing in Peyton was Elway of failure as a GM. Yeah, Yes. No. Yes, He was Championship man. Well, but that's white says besides Elway besides man's got he's drafted or acquired. I saw only know this because I did this game last weekend like game which, by the way they lost, they lost. He's been horrendous with quarterbacks. That's what he was supposed to be great at now. Honestly, they got stuck. Because Brock Osweiler left, and then he they rushed in got Paxton Lynch. And then they were stuck with Trevor Simeon. I'm hearing excuses, not it's not. It is what it is. So other than that, though he's acquired or drafted like 42 pro bowlers in the last four years other than that, captain, it's just a little leak in front of the boat. Yes, meaning quarterback. It stunk exactly. I don't think we have time to finish the place. So just let the music be so we only go that that is a record hit the don't even worry about it. "Tim Jordan was getting triple teamed at points but they've got some dogs. This almost reminds me off. Now. It's not as good of a defense, but it almost reminds me of the Super Bowl win with Denver. With Peyton. Where, like we were like, Yeah, Peyton, one of second Super Bowl there. Yeah, but really, it was everything else that want it. That's the way I look at the same because they just have Everything else you want in a championship. If Drew Brees congest, not bleep the bed. I think they'll do very well in the playoffs. I might be the only person who only gives Peyton 1.5 Super bowls like I know he technically has, too. But we all watch that season pay. Mating has one Super Bowl ring, and he was on the roster for another one. Listen. When Brock Osweiler gets half the wins in a season for you, that's I'm sorry, man. That's all we need to know about that. Yeah, that's all we need to know. Let's talk about Tampa Bay because you've seen a lot of Tampa Bay in the same division as Carolina. Do You think Tampa Bay can make any noise Because you talk about the talent on the Saints? I think Tampa Bay is as talented as just about any other team in the NFL as well. But they got a problem at number one, the quarterback position So I agree with what you're saying. And I also think that if the Chiefs and Rams games were the last two games they played going to the playoffs. Everyone would have a different beat on this team, but because they beat a bunch of slap ease. They've beat Minnesota. They beat Detroit. They be the third team that's escaping me right now. They'd be the bunch of bad teams to rebound. And I mean, everybody looked at that Detroit game where the director of research and assistant head coach was the defensive coordinator because of Cove. It Its ass tonight, like all the things that were troubling them against good teams early in the season. I am imagining that's going to come out and so like I look if Washington is able to win and they win the division, I think Washington could actually beat Tampa Bay in the first round, and I've gotten so much crap for this. What does Tampa Bay struggle against they struggle against defense is with phenomenal front force that can pressure you without needing to drop out. Sorry without needing to bring the house every single time to get pressure that front four in Washington is as good as advertised in one of the five best front force in Football, and Alex Smith is the ultimate not gonna beat you Not gonna win you the game kind of guy. So if Brady's out there getting sacked every five seconds Yeah, We're going to see bad Tommy come out, especially if Bruce Arians is asking him to throw 15 yard outs to the sideline, which get picked off every five plays with Brady. You and I have been the only ones fighting that good fight. I have been saying the exact same thing when it comes to Washington and Tampa Bay for the last three weeks, and everybody looks to me like I have three heads when I say it, but I think it's pretty apparent that kind of teams that give Tampa Bay problems and I think Washington Is one of those teams last question here, Nick and I appreciate you joining me tonight. I want a neutral voice on this. If you had a vote for NFL N v p, Who would you vote for? I love Aaron Rodgers. And I think he is one of the most talented quarterbacks I've ever watched. But much like I don't need the Heisman to tell me Trevor Laurence is the best quarterback in the butt. Sorry. The best player in college football. Don't need an M V P award to tell me the Patrick Mahomes is straight up magic that in and you're gonna you guys in case you're going to deal with what I dealt with as a Cleveland do with LeBron. Where? At some point my homes just to be chasing the ghost of my home's right. It's like Oh, sure. 50 Touchdown. Super Bowl win! Yeah, first two years. All right, Well, what What do you do now? Like they did? That was LeBron. They're still doing that with LeBron. Now what's why he'll never win a strict MGP so I think they're going to go and give it to Rogers. But I have no earthly idea. How is greatest Rogers has been its greatest. Anybody else has been how you don't just look at what Patrick Mahomes has done coming off a Super Bowl win. And then losing one regular season game and, oh, by the way, just going and putting up a ridiculous amount of yards again. I have no idea how this doesn't go to Patrick Mahomes, the best quarterback in the NFL, because I say that I feel somewhat biased because I've obviously watched every snap this year for Patrick Mahomes. But to me value, especially at the quarterback position is You win this game because you have this person on the team. And I've seen enough Kansas City games this year where Kansas City probably loses five games this year if they have another quarterback. That's not my homes that repeatedly whether it was a turn over whether it was a slow start. Whether it was the defense where they put mama homes in this offense in a situation where was like, Hey, Go win us the football game and he's come through every single time. So this week in Kansas City, I've been sort of fighting the whole philosophy of why I should go home to be penalized for not playing in week 17..

"20 million bucks to go away, according to reports Vic Fangio is going to survive in Denver. But the real problem's not going to change because John Elway is still making the player personnel decisions and other than bringing in an agent, Peyton Manning. He's done nothing right under center, especially when he's drafting quarterbacks. Brock Osweiler. Well, he's tall. Let's get him in here. Trevor, Simeon al, You went to the northwestern. We could turn 1/7 round pick into a starter and I think Drew lock is trending in the wrong direction as a turnover machine. Doug Peterson is the name to watch. Philadelphia is the toughest town in the NFL. Based on fan reaction. Maybe they feel ah little bit better that they saw something from jail and hurts, But it doesn't matter because the Eagles have been so woeful. They don't even have a shot in that miserable NFC East. Real issue is the decline of Carson Wentz. How much of that is linked to Doug Peterson's inability to come up with an offense that works for him or Deal with the psychological side of football to assuage a guy whose contract makes him virtually on tradable unless you believe in the informed speculation. That with Philip Rivers, probably retiring at the end of the season for the Colts, which could be as soon as Sunday. There is an opening in envy. Frank Reich had a great relationship with Carson West when he was the play called were in Philadelphia. Maybe that'll work. So before Anderson probably the name to watch But unless I'm missing something here on Leah, five head coaches out on Monday Now the other thing you gotta factor in is covert and the reality that this is not a typical year in any way. "They should be better. I'm not saying twelve wins. I would agree with you. They've underachieved that's one. That's up in the air matt nagy. I know they're making this last season. Pushier after long losing streak got mitch. Trubisky's plan well until the nagy took the play calling back a couple of weeks ago. They've done a phenomenal job. Here of of just getting mitch. Trubisky to play good football. And he's accurate. That's the big thing with him. It's not just the mistakes the turnover. She's been super accurate. We met marrone that. That's a job that people will want other quote. I mean most people believe won't be back but again you don't know that until we know what the gm wants and then. Doug peterson philly. This one is the most interesting by far for everyone. Why are there questions. The regression of the starting quarterback up the lack of development there after his superstar year. Seventeen carson wentz on a steady decline of the last two seasons. He had a bench him. Give doug peterson made a decision head coach. What's a relationship going forward. Can they both coexist. If if the owner. Jeffrey loria wants to bring peterson added carson. Wentz back so. That is a major question. Doug peterson future will be decided very early next week. Yeah no that's that's fascinating to me to think that and i would think. The peterson could get snatched up by another team. If somebody was was interested. Because you got a team to a super bowl like philadelphia On that note. I i kind of mentioned i think the last time that you were on the show that i always hear that players are immovable because of their contracts but once brock osweiler was able to get moved with that deal. I never sold that. It can't happen. All i was told that whole week is a never never never and then boom. They traded him for picking. The cleveland cottam. So can they move carson wentz out. I mean i think he's going to get another opportunity somewhere else but can it happen. S unit this offseason. Yeah fact i can tell you. They'll be at least a half a dozen teams involved if the eagles are willing to trade carson wentz first of all the contract from a receiving standpoint is beautiful very team friendly but the traded to the dead money on the capital Signing peration the cap. It is major The money's over thirty million which would be stork and eagles unfortunately are the worst under the cap for twenty twenty one. They're going to be actually way over at no matter what they do with wins so they've got a very offseason. They're gonna have to say goodbye to some very good veterans greg. It's going to be a painful off season for the eagles but it starts next week with the head coach. They gotta decide whether he's gonna come back. But i would agree with your sussman as as much as i think. Doug peterson is not done. A good enough job team has four wins. Spend all their injury. Issues is hard to understand hard to explain the. Somethings you can explain a lot of it. You can't never shouldn't four team at this point but they've made the plus three years in a row. They've also won a super ball after peterson's first year when there are seven nine. They won the super bowl the next season. So you would think that you would have a long leash year but owner. jeffrey laurie. Look he's he's a patient guy but he has expectations. It's not a secret. Lori was involved in two assistance being fired last season so He's he's got at once the offense to be special. It has been anything but special with eagles I'm not giving up on rigorous. I'm playing college. I know it's been a mixed bag this year but this kid i still. I still think he's gonna be a star in the nfl out of. He scored seven straight touchdowns his team in college. No one else scored i. I had a. He's going to be Let's let's do this. We got two minutes left Rather than doing the whole prediction. Who's gonna who's gonna lose about this on monday. Who in the afc at who in the afc is on the outside looking in. After this is done. I don't think we've ever seen an eleven win team not make the playoffs. I'm assuming it will probably be a ten win team. Who you think is on the outside looking in when we get to monday and we're talking about the one of the better teams over the years to not make the playoffs. I am so pulling for the browns to get in. They deserve it. It's been since the two thousand two season at otherwise. You remember the quarterback was that two thousand and two brown when they played the steelers in the wild card game on another gerry v. Two thousand three. It wasn't couch. Nope it was the guy who he filled in for. It was kelly holcomb. He's already gone back. Yeah i remember it was on. It was on a sunday and it was unbelievable. Game thirty six thirty three holcomb never played that well ever that was just one of these crazy games but on the pick the browns to get in and the colts not to get in. Yes the gulf. Have a great easy games. We but with the steelers resting all these key players. How i know the browns are gonna be with a low key players due to the covid issue. I gotta feel like they're gonna find a way to win. I i just got to win. The game against the division rival is at home that that whole field needs much but may for my heart here. But i do believe that brown to find a way to win which will knock out the colts. And you're right. The colts the colored still have not get in a man. Right they'd be jack riley. Eleven if you're right if the cleveland winds your crap you got the cleveland into your both ten and five I wanna see.
