I don't even know where to start. How did you so you are? You've been through this world. Did you start as? Well let me let me back up. Where did you start near your career before you realize that this was a passion of yours? Oh, I never wanted to be a lawyer. So why decided I wanted to be a lobbyist I was going to go to the day and work in politics and I got into Grad school and that was my career path, and then I said you know what if I'm going to spend a couple more years in school, a muzzle. Get my lodge, agree, and then I can maybe do something else with it and I never looked back on. Now looking at looking in the past I think Washington would have chewed me up and spit me out I. would've never survive there. So I just I you know. When I started practicing, it was with a small firm, and they were really good at criminal defense in yet they did family law, and they didn't want to do it or didn't like to do it, so they kind of punt it all those cases to me and it was just something that I found I actually enjoyed, and I found that I could really help people or really advocate for the people who didn't have a voice to so and that was you know. I started that a couple months after I got married myself. intoned fast forward eighteen years in two divorces later. Here I am. I've lived in worked in space for a while now. I can't imagine. Marrying and then divorcing a divorce attorney that must have been terrified for him. You know what the you know what the funny thing is like. Despite doing this for work, I really hate conflict in my personal life, and it's something I'm working on, but that was so interesting. I would not like like I was like okay. Let's just do this. Let's just do this fast in. Move on what you want. The end let's focus on so from my first marriage I have a son, and the focus has been completely on him and co-parenting the second marriage barely counts because I was in an elegantly fast so. That didn't exist. The Britney Spears. Marriage were totally six hours in Las Vegas. Pretty Mum. It. What's interesting about that? And so I? You know I sort of I I love when we get a new gas especially with a topic that's outside of our air quotes, nor even though Kelly my co host and I have. I mean we tried to interview everyone with every walk of life every expertise, but what I really was interested in what I saw your name, pop I'm like? Oh! We haven't had this and we have so many parallels. The more eye steeped in all your stuff and girl I went through the to the bottom your instagram. Every podcast What I love the. Talk about enough newness you talk about shame you talk about that empowerment and reinventing new life and what I love about what you just said is. You Know Kelly and I work with folks that are in the anxious community. And we've been been through it ourselves. We wouldn't wish it on our worst enemies, and we both you know genuinely hate the experience that we went through. We're very thankful for what we went through. I I'm sure it's a whole that you have aspects of your life that you're thankful you. Did you went through the trials you went through? But it's we have to do it again. We might be in the same exact boot. Right yeah, and you know it's so interesting because exile. Hits I think anyone going through a divorce and you may have never experienced since I exiled, and if you're going through that, you're you know it's GonNa keep you up at night and I agree with you. Because everything that I had gone through made me. A better lawyer, a better advocate me more compassionate made me be able to talk to someone and say I. Know How hard it is to Co parent, but here's why you have to do it anyway, and it made me even the work I do today is all because of all the experiences that I had in the past why apps have absolutely no regret. Regret it really just helped me kind of find my purpose in mission and everything and I think that had i. not gone through that or made those mistakes I would have never been in that position to speak the way I. do about Shane about being true to who you are authentic in your life known shame such a big topic and it's one. It, you know, and it's the one that really honestly kicked started my path in my mission and kind of passion for all of this, because I never spoke about it I, did not talk about my own divorce, because I was so embarrassed in so ashamed of it,

"It was too much. Britney for the yeah I think like also lucky I mean again. Lucky is probably my baby. Britney Spears on and it's so good but like I remember like so many of the songs that you're listening to especially from pop at that time or all romance songs. Mike love songs and up songs into hear us on like lucky. That was just like. I'm just really rich and bummed like it was just like what is she singing about. This is so fascinating this was like a completely different thing that she's singing about and I remember beat really struck by that as a kid. I was like this is just like not like any other song occurred in my lifetime. So far he's strikingly press anti going. So lucky is for kidding. Really it's such a fantastic. I mean I think you're totally right. I I I think push comes to shove. This might be just. Her best song definitely agree. Toxic era for instance. It's the one that you know when when Taylor played her Taylor Swift. Oh my God rob you read my mind. I literally was about to say I feel. It's the most Taylor swift the end of the early Britney Laundry Times the first time she ever played Louisiana. You can find his footage on Youtube where she does a local tribute cheat. She does her version of Lucky. Incredible which you know of course. She tried writing her own version with the lucky. One hundred percent. Lucky is even better bit carrying Taylor seeing near. She's Lucky in stadium full of fans in Louisiana who every word of it and they're so proud that their local exploded upset by dealer lucky just hits people where they live in an uncle. I loved it in a video that little introduction to explain that she's singing about a character and we should not think song about her because absolutely not about Britney either story at all well with with actual Britney everything is fine and always will be does not cry herself to sleep at night ever so fascinating I remember. It seemed like so confounded by back like the entire concept of Ohio. Like popstars can sing about other things like other stuff. That's like complicated. But yeah it's like it was very that song. I was so obsessed with but I had a complicated relationship because she was dating Justin and had my name. It was a very tortured during day again but I could not ignore the album difficult to ignore that video cinematic jeans. The fact that she's in the dual role of like playing lucky star has said like and then sort of Britney The Guardian Angel figure her round and looking very compassionate and concerned all the time with the really short hair. It was so good yes crop. Top the crop top. Yes an angel. Crop Top Makes his sad faces Does things like throw things yet. Random phone inter very glamorous rope very mean turn coast. There's something I found the on religion. I founded final track dear diary kind of moving in that. I know it's the I believe. It's the only song that she has at writing credit on the album and it is so unvarnished a teenage song. A young teenage song for all her. I'm not that innocent. It's pretty damn innocent. It's a little bit touching because you know where that she really was still kind of a kid. You know underneath it all and there's something I don't know if it's a good song per se but I did find it moving. I love that song is better or worse than email my heart though you know. That's a good point. I think it's basically the email my heart of this album. I know that we're all on the same page as loving email my heart. Yes we we actually we. We had a little bit of a dispute about that last time rob but I might have been doing emails. What is weird? I was thinking everybody's been doing diaries. It is that she went from email to like this like a nineteenth century diary thing. It's like album. She was going back in time. You know everybody was no longer doing emails should have been something about like a sidekick pager actually would have she would have written a great song about. Rossana a great song about sidekicks a lot. Yeah what a tragedy that she didn't actually even some of the lesser known songs on the album. I don't think there's one song at is a bad song album. I thought the deep cuts were actually. I did or even more fun to hear now. Because they're kind of like more songs in that style that we all miss so much of like peak Swedish pop factory style other tracks that you would WanNa dig in on rob where even to begin with from you is a deep cut at a nominal but yet there's there's basically no skip some this record right. Yeah I know Steve. Lunt wrote one kiss from you. I don't know if he was he was not the. Steve was not part of the He's a British guy he wrote. She Bop now. Wait so fascinating see. Had The guy who wrote she bob on one song? You Have Diane Warren on when your I say it you have Keith Richards. Obviously tonigh- Mutt Lang Song Right. That's running the gamut in song is really good it is. I wonder how I wonder how many die warns submitted for the album. I wonder if there's like seven Diane Warren Song. He know she probably had like. You should probably submitted on the condition that they could not make this when it hit. She's trying to agree to you. Know Oscar what. She's she was shooting for her. You got at that point but the fact that you're that much wrote one of the best hits from this record. Yeah that's kind of billion This is peak. They're scenario is huge. All over the world at this point with the huge mega success of of come on over album which was just a long run hit. It was an even bigger hit the second year. It was the first king so the fact that even just getting money and Schneider to write a song for your record. Such a lot of confidence in Britney stitcher. Yeah and by the way apparently Britney went to the chateau owned by Lang and Shania to record that song. And I like that's a short film at itself. Someone should make a whole movie about the evening. Britney Spears spent was denied Twain. A MUTT Lang. I can only imagine. I wonder if.
Britney Spears Accidentally Burned Down Her Home Gym
"While not really music related but having to do with a musician Britney spears. It's like a roller coaster with her when we do hear things. It's most often not good whereas you look at somebody like Amanda bines fallen off the face of the earth. That's probably good news. That means he's probably still in treatment and getting help and quiet and that's good but Britney burned down her home gym and she let us all know. It was just a little accident nonchalant she said Hey guys I mean my gym right now. I haven't been here for like six months because I brought my gym down unfortunately I had two candles and yeah one thing led to another and I turned it down the way she says. Absolutely gold like deadpan. Like no big deal. Burt Down my gym. Yeah and then she said it was an accident but yes burnt it down. I walked past the door to the gym and flames boom by the grace of God. The alarm went off after that and Yippee
"You've got shared lady Gaga. Britney Spears Arianna they're all gay icons albeit very straight away ladies and I wanted to know who is the next straight white lady GAY ICON SO I deep coma from Thomas. Who's my pop culture expert? He's in the know to find out who that gay icon could be. Oh Yeah it's too early to label duleep. I mean she's fine. I guess she is a Grammy Award. Winning best new artist. Thank you know why I'm hype and so much but I mean my clear pop icon will forever be. Gino is all right next question number four. There's this stereotype that has long permeated lesbian culture. And it's that Lesbians Love Cameo in fact auto straddle did a survey about it and found that lesbians are more likely to own cats than any other group of People. I wouldn't know as I myself am a dog bisexual so I hit up Dr Rachel Cordesman. Visiting professor in women's Gender and Sexuality Studies at Wake Forest University. She curated an exhibition all about lesbians in cats by Harry. Cats have a lot of associations with southern entity and often kind of dangerous or deviant forms of feminine any so because of Lake Association so cats switches association so flake cats even with like pejorative terms for China after the nineteen seventies the sort of a defiant reclamation of cats with an different lesbians cultures lesbian feminist for reclaiming hats and now furthering this educational moment our final coup weary question number. Five is a question that I talk to. You Parker. Yes and thank you for making my next family. Thanksgiving more awkward. You're welcome you told me. Queer people love soup and you wanted to know why in so I went and asked my sweet sweet. Got Sister The undercut champion Baltimore. Why Queer people are so obsessed with soup she would. She said Parker. That's what I thought. I know. That's not a thing. Okay first of all you're making. It seem like us. Queers put soup on a pedestal. I'm just saying that UH squares like to eat some soup. I'm always being invited to sue cooking. Parties Soup potlucks. Even soup exchanges. But I mean everyone loves soup. It's delicious and it's cheap. But then I talked to my friend Kiana and Shalit's me and passionate messages like this. Why do I like soup so much? Let me tell you. Even though they look so easy and simple they could take hours almost like you know romancing a lesbian the seasonally simple but in actuality extremely hard true true but also Parker. I have a confession. I actually don't like soup what I don't like. It would have been good information to know about weeks ago. Well it still even though I don't like soup is still something I was curious about. And it's still something that holds up. I'm just a special anomaly. Okay versus So it's not a thing you have in previous Leslie. I coming up one more investigation from and it is a doozy Nancy. We'll be right back. No one is carrying soup around

My Panic Attack
"Originally intended to record this episode back in March but that's when the corona virus hit the US in full force. So I put it on the back burner to host live. Qna's instead highlights. From which are uploaded as podcast episodes but once our front doors open again. The sudden stimuli of crowded stores and roadways might overwhelm us which brings me to this unlikely story. I want to share with you about a panic attack. That had earlier this year it turns out. There's a good explanation for why it occurred but it was quite unnerving when it was actually happening. What got me through? It is what can get us through. What's happening right? Now after? Six years of accumulating airline mileage points from flights and credit card charges. I finally had enough points to cover an absolutely free round trip. Flight and five week backpacking trip around the Philippines earlier this year and setting up a tenth on the beach or as I like to call it. A five billion star hotel made the trip in nature lovers paradise but quite a few shots. Vaccinations for things like typhoid and malaria were either necessary or strongly advised prior to boarding the flight. I am fortunate enough to not be on any medication. generally avoid even taking aspirin unless. I'm in severe pain but considering all the time I was about to spend sleeping outdoors in a third world country. I took the malaria pills for two weeks prior to departure as well as during the trip and for three weeks. Afterwards I didn't bother reading the possible side effects because not taking the pills wasn't an option but it didn't take long to notice that the pills made me sleepy for example so I just took them at night. I later discovered. They also cause vivid dreams and a slight fever which was no big deal. The whole point of the trip was to maximize time on quiet deserted islands for some peace and tranquility and to avoid major loud cities like Manila as much as possible. Since as far back as I can remember. I've been hyper sensitive to certain types of noise. The high pitch of CRT monitors beeping alarms the sound of someone snoring chewing the auditory assault of emergency sirens screaming children wind chimes and even certain. Birdsong would all drive me crazy. If it wasn't for two things one I can usually meditate and breathe deeply through the noise until it stops and I can return to the bliss of silence and to almost always have earplugs on me just in case. The sound is louder than my meditation consumer. Whether this miss a phony ah is a symptom of being somewhere on the spectrum or something else. Altogether avoiding noise isn't an option especially when dealing with major airports and public transportation. I can usually gear myself up prior to leaving the house in preparation for what's to come and wear noise cancelling headphones which more often than not keep my anxiety at bay anyway. The trip involved wonderfully warm ocean breeze on white sand beaches beautiful hikes and surprisingly freezing temperatures did not expect to experience in the Philippines but enjoyed immensely nonetheless on us. Sunrise hike to one of the highest peaks in the country clear blue skies and great food. Add into the mix one bad case of getting seasick on a boat between islands two cases of food poisoning which I actually think was from drinking the water. Not NECESSARILY FROM ANYTHING. I eight and you've got the complete experience which was still great in the grand scheme of things but at one point returning to the big loud and busy city of Manila after a couple of weeks of reading books in a Hammock on a quiet deserted beach. Hit Me really hard. The noise of construction traffic blaring. Tv's and radios car horns and the fast pace of everything and everyone around me shot my anxiety through the roof and sent me into the worst panic attack of ever had. I'm not going to play it down for you. I completely lost it. I truly believed it was the end of timber as we know him. That Buddhist boot camp would come to an end and that I would have to check myself into a mental hospital upon returning to the states. If I don't kill myself I that's how bad it was. Suicide was more inviting than another minute of noise from which I couldn't escape even with earplugs or noise cancelling headphones I truly wanted to die. It was my lowest point and I didn't even recognize myself. I mean this is me. We're talking about the guy who feels anger threatening to surface and starts contemplating what other feeling I'd rather choose but in this case this down to Earth Guy you've grown to know over. The years was no more. What got me through this sudden spiral of mental instability. As I was rocking back and forth was repeating to myself. This is temporary. This is temporary. This is temporary within an hour. I fell asleep probably from exhaustion. It's incredible how much energy the body uses to feel something anything so strongly. When I woke up the next day I was no longer on edge but still seriously questioning my mental health. Was this my own psychotic breakdown. His this what everyone was saying. Britney Spears went through in two thousand seven. It felt like years of meditation. Mindfulness and all the practice of had to remain calm in the midst of chaos. Meant nothing so I decided to do some research and discovered that severe panic attacks are actually a common side effect from the Malaria vaccine. I was taking and it all made sense on the one hand. I was relieved that it was merely a chemical reaction to the pills but has felt so real in the moment of panic. I couldn't access all those other parts of my brain that would have otherwise kicked in with logic and reasoning to talk me off the ledge but whether real or chemically induced the mantra. This is temporary. Helped me through it? All temporary can mean a minute or two an hour a week month year or lifetime. No matter how you look at anything. Everything is in constant flux. I guess what pleasantly surprised me. The most is how quickly I was willing to accept my mental breakdown. Prior to falling asleep I contacted a friend to recommend a therapist could see immediately upon returning to the states. I asked another friend whether the mental institutions depicted in movies resembled the real ones. He sees in his medical practice and then all reminded me of the near drowning incident that I described in my memoir and how I'm merely observed what was happening rather than reacting to it. I guess I wanted to share this story with you because perhaps all of the years of mindfulness practice didn't go out the window in the moment of panic and the gap between impulse response. I didn't react to what was happening. I reminded myself how temporary it all was. Mindfulness Meditation can really help us. Not In the moment of meditation but at some point down the road when we need it most a got me through the four hours of being seasick on the worst boat ride. You can imagine it. Got Me through the panic attack and it got me through the whirlwind of change to which I returned when I got back home for starters I found out that I had to move out from where I've been living for the past two and a half years but rather than react or dubbed the unexpected experience terrible or unfortunate. I found a new place to live. That is everything of ever dreamed of. And then this corona virus exploded and I can't think of anywhere on the world where I'd rather be quarantined right now

Exploring The Canopy With 'TreeTop Barbie'
"Hey everybody matty Safai. Here was shortwave reporter. Emily Kwong today. We thought you might appreciate a little joy in your life especially now that's right here on short wave we want to bring you up. Does it explain what's happening with the corona virus but also episodes that feature other interesting science like this one from the very first week of shortwave. It's probably one of my favorites. Oh yeah mine too. It's got rain. Forests SLINGSHOTS A DECADE-LONG CONFLICT WITH BIG Barbie bad gets rope burn. Let's not love the rope? Burn Kwong it's clearly the roburt. These are the sacrifices you make manny right onto the show enjoy. You're listening to shortwave from. Npr One day this past summer I got to visit a rainforest. Okay that's licorice fern. That is the scientific name. Is Paula podium vulgarity? Ecologist NENAD CARNEY. This is called sledge. This is called Club Moss. It's actually very primitive Plant leaning has been studying in exploring ecosystems like this for thirty five years. Okay so that is called Bikram. That's another species of Moss. I like to call it pledging moss. Just because it's so soft and so please so much like a little pillow. Here's Flynn's this is recommend trim. There's like three four different species of MOSS RIGHT THERE. Couple other things about this rainforest. You're probably thinking rainforests so tropics now. We were in the Pacific Northwest Olympic National Forest in Washington state and it's called a temperate rainforest A. Rainforest because we get it's characterized by having a lot of rainfall there about one hundred twenty inches a brain a year. The other thing about this trip to the forest. Is that all these plants so see how soft these mosses are yes. Don't you just WanNa sleep on them? Yeah all of new weenies. Decades-long work. Okay I'M GONNA come up side by side with you. All of it is about wow sixty feet off the ground for many. This is awesome awesome. This is called the canopy pretty much everything above the forest floor all the way up to the tops of the trees. Come up with me now. Little Rope canopy. Here is a dizzying thicket of bright green leaves and Mosses and ferns all bathed in sunlight. And we knew very little about it because the canopy is literally called the last biotic frontier. It's been so poorly studied. It really aren't very many people who studied the canopy. Feel like when you say. The last biotic frontier should look off into the distance. Ready to the last biotic frontier so today on the show pioneering scientists Malini non Carney on the canopy plus a little later on in the episode weenies decades. Long fight to get more women into science. And how she found unlikely ally in Barbie. Yeah I thought it was weird too. It's not that we're the sticker up and you're listening to shortwave from NPR. Alright so let's back up down back on the ground in Olympic national forest. Malini told me that in the grand scheme of things canopy sciences. Actually PRETTY NEW. People have been studying forest for centuries but it's only been in the last twenty twenty five thirty years that people have actually climbed up into the forest canopy to understand the environment up in the tree tops. One of the hurdles for scientists was literally just figuring out how to get up to the tops of the trees so noelene a few friends figured out a way to adapt some mountain climbing techniques to get up into the canopy and that means shooting ropes into the trees. So I invented this thing called the master caster which is metal rod and we welded it so it has this little hole here for the line. Basically this master caster thing is part fishing. Rod Part slingshot. This looks like a garage sale. A fourteen year old boy's dream could both and and so with a fishing weight loaded into the slingshot. So I'm thinking right up there. Malini cast masterfully. You we set the ropes now on your weight on this got harnessed in step down and then started the long hard process of inching up the road. You're going to go into a crouch and lift your legs up. That's kind of like a caterpillar and then San exactly you. Well you know. I've got to kind of over. The course of her career researching canopies in the Pacific northwest as well as in the forest of Costa Rica. Malini has documented all kinds of things about the canopy sixty feet up this giant maple tree. She shows me one of the cooler ones. Just looking at the underside of these mosses like. There's this canopy soil Allowing Dig Samat over here. Malini peels back a thick fistful of Moss from the branch on the tree. Instead of bark we're looking at tightly packed bed of Brown dirt. I mean that has actual soil that is basically composed of the dead and decomposing. Moss's that live up here and there are like earthworms that live up. Here are a big round up exactly. It's called into canopy soil. Wow look at that. And it's a weird you know you hear smelling the soil smell. But you're you know you're up sixty feet above the forest floor. So it's it's this sort of whole world that the canopy creates they're living plants or mosses there ferns their soil and it's all kind of invertebrates that live here birds that forage for these invertebrates that live in the canopy soil. So it's like this microcosm this mini co system. That's going on kind of independent of the forest floor. But at the same time interacting the forest as a whole of course today canopies all over the world face threats from climate change from logging fire deforestation and a lot of work. Now is about trying to figure out what would happen. If we lost such a complex interconnected ecosystem. I think it's important for canopies to be as intact as possible. Because they do foster so much diversity that you can get seventy species of mosses on a single tree and each of those mosses sort of living life with its insects and invertebrates and supporting birds. And so it's just part of this sort of whole cycle of what makes a primary important. Here's another thing leany discovered when she was first getting started in canopy research. There were very few women. Scientists doing this kind of work and so she set out to change that this was. This was just a fabulous day. That happened in my lab forest. Canopy lab undergraduates worked there. My graduate students would work me and we were just kicking around by these. Look how could we make the forest canopy more meaningful to mattress other scientists but to regular people like how about young girls? They need encouragement. And somebody said. Well what about Barbie aright pause Barbie time because she was busy enough helping to basically create an entirely new field of scientific study in the early two? Thousands deleted decided. You know in her free time she would try to create market and get into the hands of little girls and boys everywhere treetop Barbie. What took iconic doll which is so symbolic of what young girls aspired to. What if we just put this shell around her? Which is a canopy biologist? So called Mattel the company that owns Barbie and then when I propose this idea they said no no no. We're not interested that has no meaning to us We make our own barbies. You know you can't do this. Forget it forget it. So that's when we said well. Why don't we just do it ourselves? And if Mattel's not going to take a couple of trips to goodwill later to get some recycled barbies with the Angela's making our top barbies. And I started bringing campy Barbie along with me and you know talking to my fellow scientists and saying look guys we not only have to do our good science we need to start encouraging people from outside science and and this is one way that we might do it trees are wonderful arenas for discovery this is Malini is two thousand nine tedtalk which by the way is a hugely nerve wracking thing for scientists. And you're hooked up to this hands-free Britney Spears Mike to give a talk. That will basically be your top. Google hit for life to stand on stage. Showing off a little plastic treetop Barbie. Should I really be spending time with this? Are PEOPLE GOING TO THINK? It's weird that me as a scientist and me as a woman scientist is a brown woman. Scientist is spending her time doing this. they're sort of risk. That goes along with that but I felt that the potential good that could come out of it of providing a real role model for a little girl. Who doesn't even know that that the canopy exists to study. You know like when I was a kid and so if that can happen then I think it's worth the risk what we do my students in my lab and is we buy barbies from goodwill and value village. We dress her enclosed that have been made by seamstresses and we send her out with a canopy handbook. And my feeling is thank you that we've taken this pop icon and we have just tweaked her a little bit to become ambassador who can carry the message that being a woman scientist studying treetops is actually a really great

Didn't she married some dude ride and immediately got it annulled? Was that the first kind of the first thing. Was that the first crack in the crazy. Yeah shaved her head rate. Oh and she married the guy for a day doesn't Agai- shave their head after with a umbrella okay And then yeah and then just kind of married federal two kids real quick thousand gross and she's not married now. "Go Bra for the luck of the Irish. Bring them back. Lucky by Britney Spears got an Irish right. That's she's Irish. Yeah I think the Irish sure. Let's say they're not But yeah I was just GONNA say. Do not like this totally. This is not a stretch at all. This totally totally works works. Not Do not look too closely at it and you just drip that you keep your green beer and the songs can be great listening to this one. What do we? What do we take away from it? This is one of my favorite Michael episodes. I will say that favorite lines in it. Then he's ever said on the show or outside all right good I'm going to give us You WanNa say you. WanNa give us a hint. Hint is about an awards. Show all right. Was It the twenty five minutes. I was talking about the Nine hundred sixty five Tony Awards. That's right yeah okay definitely was the only the only real takeaway for me. Listen to this was I was like man. I was really angry during this one. I don't know it was very dismissive of of of Miss Spears. I think I've chilled out a little bit. Yeah it was the shamrock shakes were navy. Yeah maybe I don't know but You know I'm really. I'm really proud of myself for how I've ground. Yeah I've grown as a person so I think that's the thing I say what the audience take away from his. Just my personal grit and how great so so good for me. Yeah really really good for me. I'm really bad. Yeah this is a story about a boy named Dan and all right. Let's get into it. Tinashe's Independent Return to the Music Industry
"Welcome my girl tonight. I just want to let you guys. We met one night. We were bullock La at the club. We were extreme batting. Yeah it's stream fighting Buzi Veloso five and these two girls were literally like the white man who does a tight wire across the gray anion on heels this long dancing and work in. And we're like we need to know y'all y'all come party. Etta linked up linked up. And we've been friends ever since two dropping it low. That was a fun night burn night. Yeah there's no way she's out with the people she was I with the people in Chile Chile cheers to that graduated into it. I gotTa get strange. You get into it. Thank you new record. Save Room for us. Yeah out a million a week in a week. What's it like? That fans are responding to this new. Sound it honestly means everything because this is me you know like before. I think I was learning kind of coming up in the game finding my way and I felt really great to be in the position with my previous record label to release. My first vote was two point five albums and learned a lot. Got To work with all these different producers collaborate with so many different amazing artists. But I felt kind of towards the end of that experience that I wasn't hundred percent being true to like who I needed to be. And that was for. Like a zillion different reasons. It's really hard to pinpoint like one particular reason or it was over the course of a seven year relationship with that situation so I found myself in the place where I just felt like I needed to step back like fine pause in my life really reinvent and become artists that I felt that I truly like was an and just continue on like a trajectory that I was headed towards. I felt like I was kind of like coasting through my career like going through the motions instead of doing what you really really wanted. Artists come here and all they want is at record deal. They want apple to see them. They want to be a part of that. And you had it and then you let it go. Was that a mind for you to like say. Ok. I'm going to do this on my own. Yes myself. It's a big risk right because you lose that kind of machine that kind of solidifies like a lot of different things way budgets. Like making sure that you know you get your stuff out there at first. It seems like okay. How am I going to actually even function as an artist without this machine? That has been internationally pushing me for so long. You know there's so many different components that go into it and I think for me Taking that risk felt like a better option than to continue on what I was doing before like I had to for my soul like take it there. I had to like for me. It felt very very much like spiritual like an instinct calling to like. I have to you know this is. This is the time. This is the perfect opportunity. Gobert Sean you said like there's a spider. My house yeah. I'm not just going to kill spider. I'M GONNA burn the whole month and read somewhere that you've fired fired. You parted ways with everybody. Everybody here in makeup. You parted ways with the you party ways with lawyers rainbows managers lawyers businessmen and Jerry's style literally across the Board. Just wanted to be like clean slate. I'm GonNa just from the ground up really reduce. I connect reconnected with a lot of people that I was really great friends with and I've I guess also kind of re affirmed the of my friendships in this industry because the have built a lot of like really genuine relationships. And I think that those have also really kind of kicked into gear in taking me to another place where I'm using actual real creative energy and people around me instead of kind of just. I don't know it's hard. It's hard to describe but like when you're kind of in sometimes a label situation at least in my experience. It feels like there's this disconnect between the artists and Mike. Every thing that happens like even like collaborations like you don't really talk to the artists when you collaborate with them or like say you like yeah you WanNa like create something you WanNa do something. There's always this transactional situation that happens. Let's let's bring that to people who don't realize slumber party Britney Spears. Oh my God when you collaborate with the Britney are you in the studio with Britney or are you talking about her looks I send you a track and say we want you to be on this. Yes yes yes. Yes which is very typical of situations so it just feels very much more natural. Now that I'm having to kind of reach out to people myself make those connections myself and it feels more valuable and just feels like everything. There's a better synergy that I do. Because you Rick Rubin right now in the sense reminding do this at Your House. You do this on your own my own space in my own environment which feels really comfortable and really genuine authentic which. I think people can tell the difference. You know. There's so much. Fake Ness in the world that people have really a craving and looking for authenticity. Whatever that means even if that means like being independent doing stuff on your own now how did you find friends in the music industry? Because I feel like it's the mother. Oh yeah everybody answer themselves. It's Ache I feel I. Can you explain this to me? We went on a hike that everybody's just offer themselves. How do you find those authentic artists that are actually friends? And who are there for you during this process? I think again. That's kind of what I've really been able to realize a lot with this current time period. Because I've been able to see who is there for just for the art or is there just for me as a as a friend or as the support system. I've really been able to find out who those people are and I think. Yeah real genuine friendships. Maybe in the music industry can be few and far between but I think that you can still find great collaborative friendships and great stuff. Yeah from my make some people. Yeah you know anybody that surprise you when you were like. Hey Bro I want you to be on his mother. Navam and they were like Who Not specifically now that I can think of where you have intuition too. Yeah yeah the whole thing. Are you try to kind of already collaborate with people who are seemingly giving you that kind of energy already yeah? It's almost like single life. It's like when you've been married. Seven years mighty big and then you get the single moment you live your best life and you meet all these really cool people and you find yourself then. You're doing this whole thing. Would you ever go back into a marriage with the label after doing it by yourself and if you would what would be different? I would say never say never at this current point now the right situation came on came about I would definitely consider it But for me. What really held me back from kind of even exploring that with releasing this last album was. I just felt like there was so much of this kind of same thought process So just kind of like going from one relationship to another. That was just extremely similar. So it didn't feel like growth for me. I felt like I had to give myself the opportunity to try to do it without this dated mentality of like just approach to making music and our approach to releasing music is. It's hard like artists. Talk about it all the time you know getting. It's hard to get there album out. It's hard to get creative differences or whatever I think it's the where business meets art. There's always going to be a risk you know. And now you're just doing art and now I'm just focusing our and it feels so much better. Yes so single we always talk about how Minna garbage in different locations different garbage gets at different locations. I say that it was an LA thing. And I beg to differ so you think it's just all over the place it's an epidemic. The new it's the old corona virus garbage. How do you have a hard time finding a dude got the MTA nausea? I mean well first of all I don't like actively look so that's part of it date maybe if I like dated maybe and meet some Nice people just genuinely don't like carve out the time but I've been to your house Taco Tuesday it's fine. There's some dude. I don't like talk to them. That's because you're too busy by the way this girl hugging the Taco. This girl has egg forty five people over at our house for Taco Tuesday. She's making the tacos. Her brother at work. She invites her parents to bring shrimp over to finish back on. We ran out of shrimp so I needed a more so I called my mom. Mom bring us another that. She comes in like stealth mode. But here's the lease and then leaves mom doesn't even stay with its hind. You find that family in Los Angeles because it's hard to make friends and find people who are genuinely here for you and not here for you the celebrity. Well I think for me the number one thing. That's helped me learn how to navigate is growing up here. I think you have a huge advantage because I think when you come here you tend to go to like all these certain circles in these certain environments where everybody around there is kind of trying to meet people or network or connect or be a part of the circle. When you're literally grow up here you're just in the suburbs here in Glendale Galleria. You know you're just you see that as like a part of the city that you can kind of use as a tool you can dip into relief from so I feel like people that are from the city and people who move here kind of experience l. a. differently just in their perspective of like the. Hollywood life like I've a lot of people who live here like people are so fake people are so fake my God and I'm like you have. Have you met people like really really like from here? There's a lot of soul there's a lot of heart is a lot of real genuine culture. But you could be who who are not from. La Because to get into the circle is hard okay. That's the other part that is why I kinda have this great circles because everybody that is in my immediate framework but whatever is people that have been there like from time so to get into that circle takes. Tell you what it feels like. Amanda Bynes Says Seeing Paparazzi Photos of Herself Is ''Terrifying''
"Okay guys. I don't know if you've seen this. Amanda bines is calling out the Paparazzi saying that editing photos to make her look bad. She posted a video on instagram. Saying it's been a terrifying experience to see pictures of herself online. What are you guys? Think so the Paparazzi. Actually do this. Do you think a Photoshop Photoshop. Pictures to make people look bad. Job is to sell photographs. They're not they don't have. They want to sell them as quickly as possible. They're not editing them to make them look bad or worse. Do you think that they were more like the? She thinks that she has double Chins when she sees her proxy pictures of herself or that. She just doesn't look like she thinks she looks control of that. Yeah well what happens whenever somebody is going through something like this? They know that a website or blog or even publication wants to sell that narrative sue Paparazzi. And you a picture of Manda Binds Britney Spears looking the bomb when everybody's been reporting that they've gone through something. Paparazzi know that they're not going to sell that photo right but you don't actually think that this is the case. I think that's what she looks like. Maybe she looks like but I don't think they're going in editing her photos to make her look worse. Look I've seen it happen before and just lawyers have been doing this for years where they manipulate a photo to sell a story. If you look at what Harvey Weinstein looks like whenever they want to sell the story that he looks like a monster they take this strong photo of him. They turn the shadows up. They turned the brightness down and they make him look like a monster and then what happens is his team. His lawyers his publicist get the photos out of of him looking feeble they turn the brightness up they make him look older age in the process. Look at that. Those are two different photos of the same man. The one of the love is to make him look like a monster in the one of the rights to make him look evil. It's how people have played the right. He's standing in the sunshine left is he's not at all. Do you think okay but going back to Amanda. Do you think they're editing? Amandas photos to make her look worse. View Vein they are not. I didn't think they are either. I'm his thing I we all know. What site when somebody when you're walking with your friends. Your friends are taken pitches on that iphone and you'll taking pictures too and the pictures you're taking off north south of the ones that you like. You always prefer one hundred percent different angles different camera. It just changes thing when you're buying photos when you worked for a magazine publication. They were not now. But you don't think I'm saying you don't think that the photographer knew what you were looking for. They knew that Britney was in distress and they weren't taking those photos and manipulating angles and distressed. And and they were capturing those Amandus so not been into she's had her own struggles alleyways doesn't mean and that means that's an angle that's capturing some things that's being a good Paparazzi capturing somebody in their worst moment which horrific thing right how. They're not getting a photo of Amanda Looking Fabulous and then going home and then not double not thank you not doing she made. He just doesn't realize that she they are getting a double chin. Either GIVE THEY WANNA sell by the way okay. Let me ask you this question. If the Paparazzi won't add a chin. Why would they make girls Skinnier to sell stories that they were more interested than they were to? Not necessarily so you think the Paparazzi are like. Hey this richie. They did it to for years. They made look way skinnier than what she was. They have been doing this forever. Lindsay's low hands arm. They always do it. I think Photoshop the hit photoshop before they even get to a publication. If I'm a Paparazzi and I know that there are seventeen people trying to sell the same photo. I'm GonNa give you the one that you had to do less work

She has a gap tooth between her front teeth. I don't remember Brittany ever having a space between our two front teeth. But Hey maybe she stopped wearing her retainer and I celebrate but I'm pro people stopping wearing their retainers. Everybody let your teeth grow weary. Let them get crooked. Why Not Anyway? Watch listen to this clip and prepare yourself. 'cause I don't think we're going to be able to handle the weird accent that Britney takes on at the end of the video. It's truly it's unnerving right now. I'm in Maui and I hear.

I love going to instagram. Thirst trap museums with my family. Go to all of them. This is one of the best has ever been done first of all. It's so centrally located across the street from the Grove. At the old K-MART. They took over the old John nor a a big space and they built this entire experience brand new. It's custom for this. And they recreate some Britney's most psychotic memories moments throughout her career from tours to music videos and more and there's memorabilia and there's really cool interactive experiences where you think it with an APP to your phone and you can have a custom video sent to you or a boomerang or a photo photo and it's epic. She doesn't that's not what she does. She's being vulnerable. She's not known for a long sustained notes. Not Christine Singer. I we don't she's Brittany than she is. But it's it's so it's it's it's so rich a rich choir behind Britney. It does summarize my feelings on music like this but the specifically is like an Eclair you know okay and then once you're done you're like I don't think I need to eat another one for a couple of weeks now. Is it really hit. Every you know everything they never know. You only need one fire. It's it's a sumptuous meal Better kids I'm sat tutor Babes. I know the word sumptuous. I'm pretty confident. Ah Okay. I'm done but like in the music video. She has this whole thing which is like leaves sat. And she's on her the big ass phone two thousand Roxbury night of of course excited about it and the way. I think it's actually really well done the way. They sort of like seamlessly like they're able to tell the story without the actual scene. Which is a book? This is a moment of radio our radio or radar moment. It's like it's like we've we've been able to okay. Lucky wins an award for best actress. Is it critics choice. She's an actress we just learned yet. We didn't know she was a star. Looks like an Oscar but it could be Golden Globe Sag award could be a Tony could be could be a Tony. Absolutely lutely probably not a grammy. Because she is not a recording artist. She's an actress. Let not your. She is not Brittany Spears him. Know Britney Spears says my multiple times throughout the song But I I mean that's such a good hook it's such a good hook doesn't come back at all and that could have been this whole song. They could have written the whole soccer so Britney like that's the it's so it's they got they got her vibe so oh well crecy as not paying its girl that Kinda sounds like a baby is a girl because she kind of is baby. City Sopranos Mezzo Sopranos a little bit lower than there right so they're like rate in that range and then under that we got a strong alto usually like our beltre's what we think of as like our like our strong Dell's Ray Altos. Then we've got ten or wines rates. Multiple multiple tenders are really. There's counter tenors counter-terror so they're like they're like oh did they. All Fall said that was gorgeous by the way New counters. They sing up there. And then you have tenure wines using like a little below them ten or twos which is like my sweet spot. That's exactly where I like chess a chess cheer. It's a little mix. Here's a little chest year it's a little it's high but it's not like super super high and also high for like a typical male. "Just checking in with all of you who are concerned about me all his well, my family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately. So I just needed time to do. But don't worry. I'll be back very soon. I hope. I hope that that was a genuine video. You know? Yes. What my gut tells me that it is not I you need to tell you what I'm feeling friend because you have me so deep into this free Brittany movement. I mean, I'm looking at all the Twitter threads all of the Twitter's involved. And then I've seen other sides of it where people are saying. But what if Britney really does he have a problem really does need the help? So my brain is is torn I'm torn about the situation because if Britney Spears is being controlled, and in your words, somebody has a gun to her head trying to make this video then everything is true and everything is fucked up. But could it be that she actually does need help? I'm lost. Yeah. I know I I'm lost. Because now, I think I just realized that this that this Twitter account that had the whole thread think it's gone. You think it's gone. The Twitter account has gone rescue Brittany's is gone, which is not not good. Not a good sign. No. Because I think she that was getting some no they changed the name. They changed the name of the Twitter handle. Oh, so. Interesting. Yeah. I don't know. It's weird are well, honestly at this point. I. I you you hear Britney talk like that. And it just it's it's crazy also posted a video and said like working out and said that she's lost. She's lost five pounds from. She's just like stressed. Oh, the page is gone. Yeah. Yeah. Sorry. I was cooking. Somebody else the page has gone weird. Yeah. Okay. See now. I don't know. I don't know is Brittany's dad taking down the Twitter page. Or do they feel bad? Now. The whole thing is it's weird. Yeah. Makes me feel weird inside. I know. So hopefully, hopefully, everything that Britney says is true. And that she's okay. Because at this point, I can't I can't see what direction is. Up like, right and wrong. You know, everything's I'm getting pulled into many different direct. But I'm saying like, maybe Brittany is. Okay. But also somebody could be forcing her to take this video. We just don't know. We just don't know. We're not detectives we can't figure it out. You look very confused. Right. I am freaking me out. No. It's just everything seems seems very suspect. Because now they're saying that she is able to make trips outside of the facility like she can she can leave and come back. She was seen spotted. She was spotted going to get some fro. Yo today. You know now. Oh, now, she's allowed to go do air, you know, be seen in public and go to this. And that and I and in the background is like because the internet is like where is she? What's happening so go we're gonna have like these little plan trips for her to be seen outside. Yeah. I do agree with that. She goes Britney Spears. Goes out for fro yo amid questioning of treatment would Britney Spears be going off for froyo today. If not everybody on the internet was worried about her mental health, and and being if she's alive, she's safe. Now, she's she's getting fro Sheila capi getting y'all. I gotta say these pictures, I hope so I think she does. I'll let's everybody. Yeah. Yeah. I thought she thought she looked good and bring the nipple. Yeah. Good for Britney getting some fro. Hopefully, somebody's not forcing her to get fro exactly the whole thing is just so crazy. And and at this point. Even if everything is, okay. Or even if she is. Even if she did check herself in and she's struggling on you know, she knows what she's dealing with. And she's getting the help that she needs the whole lifetime. Conservative ships stuff is still crazy. It's still crazy to me Razi Britney Spears should be able to handle her whole her own life at some point. Reyes spears takes care of other people..

"And we're all figuring it out now. And the fact that like, obviously, you know, Paris Hilton. But Paris Hilton was very close with Britney Spears at one point. Yeah. Right and Paris Hilton posted free Britney. So I feel like she has some sort of idea of what's going on. Well, there's there's also there's also a connection between this woman. Lou Taylor and Lindsay Lohan because Lindsay she also worked for Lindsay Lohan and Lieutenant tried to get Lindsay Lohan conservative ship. When she was spiraling. Also. And she was the one who went to britney's parents Bazeley saying that this was the best course of action. And I believe it they this could be towed DOJ as my word for this. Because this is one that I'm sure because I'm not an expert on everything. But I think that they make money from this concern ship to so it's all very well. They are in control of her money. Right. And and in two thousand eleven Lindsay Lohan fired Lou Taylor for mismanaging her money. Okay. Yes. Britney Spears was thirty seven years old should have been in charge of her money for quite some time. Now, obviously when she spiraling out of control. It's it's a different story and somebody has to manage your money, but lifetime conservative ship Sienese. Like why it's it's so crazy, obviously, it's not like the act, but my mind starts thinking about the act and how. People really can can control your life and people on the outside. We'll have no idea. Yeah. I think it said there's parts on this thread that show that that there are times that she has talked about the conservative ship and it hasn't. Made the cut in interviews like she did the Jonathan Ross show. And there was people in the crowd who were tweeting that Britney mentioned her conservative ship. However that part never made it to air in the when the interview actually aired, but people in the audience said she had talked about it. And then there was a twenty sixteen interview with Mario Lopez that she joked about having daddy issues and her team censored that out but fans are able to find the original video. Yikes. So and then in two thousand eight. Brittany's co conservator wanted wanted to raise he's he's a lawyer. And he wanted recently asked for pay increase from the singer citing his efforts to keep spears away from drugs and her successful return to the public eye. It's it's so it's crazy. But this also happened because there's a podcast, and this is people are hating that they did this and people are okay that they did this. There's pockets will britney's Graham, and they got like a tip from a paralegal at the firm that works works with Britney or the conservative ship or something. And they and that person claimed that. Let me find it because I have it. Okay. That person claim that the that this is all been her dad that her dad isn't that her dad cancelled the Vegas resident, and he was the one who committed her to the mental health institution because she refused to take the medications that they wanted her to take. And that's that's where things are are getting skewed in the in the in the media because like TMC's now reporting stuff like oh her medication was the problem. It was the wrong cocktail and that caused her to spiral and what made her. Commit herself. And now the doctors are working on fixing the the drugs that she takes and and whatnot. It's just all very sketchy and sad. And you just I really have no idea. I really have no idea. What what to believe? I agree. I feel like the whole thing is is like you said, you don't want to believe because the whole everything reading right now seems like it makes sense like Britney Spears is being controlled and not everything adds up. Right in the Jamie, Lynn spears, like also speaking out and trying it's crazy. But it's so crazy because Britney herself is is not saying anything, and it seems like he's just not allowed..
